Baymax in the new Baymax! show buying pads for a girl who got her first period and getting help from people, including a trans man.
Some people are really mad about this, when he is literally a health care robot interested in people's physical and emotional needs.

Steven Universe discourse still cracks me up like
Y'all got a show made by people who clearly love doing their job with explicit LGBT+ rep including non-binary rep and a majority female cast with a variety of body types and with multiple women POC voice actors regarding topics like mindfulness meditation, forgiveness, trauma, PTSD, establishing boundaries within relationships, compassion, with an overall message of forgiveness
And yet y'all seemed to wish for the series' demise at every moment and complained about the most insignificant details like that the storyboard artists had slightly inconsistent art styles
The messages and characters are so complex and compelling and the show gets you to think about difficult concepts and topics which flew over people's heads completely
People still think Steven should've idk wiped out the Diamonds? In the show where the whole message is that people are complicated representations of their experiences and trauma and people deserve second chances?
Idk I feel like a lot of "fans" who start discourse don't actually like the show, otherwise they'd actually absorb the basic premise of it

gay rant time. :)
i cried a little bit today. it's the beginning of pride month, and watching a video about the owl house made me realize how INCREDIBLY IMPORTANT that show is. like, it finally downed on me.
we have a latina protagonist, with a darker skin tone, who likes both boys AND girls, and has a crush on this other little witch who also likes girls. and they're the main couple. THE MAIN COUPLE. on a DISNEY show. not side characters, not just an implied non confirmed crush, no. we see it all. we see them blush, ask each other out, share their past with each other, share their first kiss. we get actual development of a MAIN SAPHIC COUPLE!! that's INCREDIBLE. it's ACTUALLY DEVELOPED. Not just thrown out there on the last season with no development at all (all representation is important tho, don't get me wrong).
it's literally so important for kids to see this. to see two girls holding hands, explicitly saying they're dating, kissing. it's incredibly important to show them that it's okay. but it's also important for the parents, to see that hey, maybe they've been wrong about some things. a sense of acceptance, a new perspective on the world... i wish i got that. you know?
it also makes me extremely emotional the fact that: cartoons like adventure time, svtfoe, gravity falls, regular show, and etc have been part of my childhood, of my generation's childhood. these cartoons have marked us, changed our senses of humor, the ways we see the world, have made us laugh and are now nostalgic for us. “remember gravity falls?” “oh yeah, it came out when i was seven. i still love it!”
and now — now cartoons like the owl house, shera, amphibia, dragon prince, they'll ALL mark the NEXT generation. these incredible, representative, fun, beautifully animated cartoons, will shape other children just like the cartoons i mentioned before did for us. and that makes me so, so happy. it's a weird feeling, this proud sensation deep in my chest that makes me wanna bawl my eyes out in the best way possible. there's couldn't be any better medias for the next generation than these.
so thank you. thank you to every single person who's fought for our rights, to the creators of shows like this, to the animators, everyone. happy pride. <3

BOOSTLE GEMS BOOSTLE GEMS BOOSTLE G
headcanons under the cut blinks at you sweetly
Benitoite "Beetle" is an engineer in Blue Diamond's court. He performs maintenance on everything mechanical and functions similarly to peridots. He is high-strung, analytical and a bit of a perfectionist. However, he has a hidden side to him that enjoys goofing off, relaxing and being a so-called "couch potato"..... whatever that means.
Pyrite "Booster Gold" was once a respected gem who worked closely alongside bismuth's in the forge to construct armor, weapons, buildings, statues etc. Pyrites are known for their semi-flammability and are helpful in igniting flames. Pyrite secretly goes by "Gold" as a little joke to himself and was nicknamed "Booster" by his fellow Pyrites for always boosting their spirits with his outgoing and cheerful attitude. He put these two named together and it stuck. His whimsical nature and jokes were not without punishment, though, and was frequently reprimanded for his behavior.
Booster joined the Crystal Gems shortly after he was stationed on Earth during the war. He fit in wonderfully and took to humanity as if he were an Earthling himself. His skin became less golden and instead took on a more human-like matte hue.
The two of them met on Earth during the Crystal Gem revolution when Benitoite was stationed on Earth, who got separated from his fellow engineers when a machine went haywire from an explosion and poofed him. Pyrite found his gem and waited until he could reform away from the battle field. And well. silliness ensues

Steven Universe antis when the literal child protagonist of the kids cartoon about empathy and understanding doesn’t go out of character and brutally kill the space tyrants that are much more powerful than himself

#SERIOUSPOST
We all know "representation matters", but i feel like we don't talk about how important can it be. Because, i gotta be honest: i probably would have never - or it would have taken me much longer - to realise i was attracted to women, if it wasn't for the representation i saw.
This feels a little problematic to say, because it kind of sounds like i'm saying that seeing wlw representation turned me into a lesbian, which is not possible of course. What i'm trying to tell is, yeah, i've always thought girls were prettier than boys, i've always randomly picked a male classmate to be my crush, i've always said that i did not want to get married or have kids (with a man)...But, despite all this, i didn't figure out i was lesbian.
Even despite the fact i've never felt romantic, and let alone sexual attraction, for any guy i've met, i did not figure out i was lesbian.
And it's not that i didn't know about lesbians or gays, because i did know they existed (for a certain period of time i was even slightly homophobic lmao), it's just nobody had ever shown me an actual alternative to heterosexuality. The moment i was exposed to wlw/lesbian representation, i knew that was what i wanted in my life, without a doubt. I was a bit surprised, but honestly i do not even remember being scared about it, because the fact i had always liked women was suddently so clear and so natural that i was like "yeah, sure, it makes so much sense".
I feel like this is the reason why nowadays people are discovering to be queer earlier than ever before, and it's not because the internet is infecting them with the gay or something, but because they get much more representation than any past generation.
For someone is easier to figure out they are gay, some people i know say they've always known, since a very young age, and that's awesome. But, yk, most people don't even know being gay is an option, and even if they do, they can't begin to imagine how that would be and how would that make them feel.
I think parents and istitutions and everyone should make an effort to increase representation, and to spread information and not misinformation, because it may be important to young queers like it was important to me.
I feel like most straight/cis people underestimate it, but i actually cried for a good ten minutes, when i saw my "sexual awakening", the character who helped me figure myself out more than any other, ending up married to another woman.

And she is that character, in case anyone is wondering.

I love how a chunk of the fandom is constantly arguing whether or not Stolitz is a "good ship" or if it's "deserved"
whereas another chunk is valiantly defending the humanity (messy relationships happen all the time everywhere) and validity of the relationship
Then the rest are just cool with it in its entirety and watch the discourse from afar
