I'm working on a genre-bending graphic novel about curses, haunted houses, climate change, and two girls who desperately need each other to survive it all

-Miranda (top image) is a 17 year old Venezuelan girl is an eternal optimist who believes in magic despite magic being dead for over a century.

-Maeve (second image) is a 17 year old Bolivian girl who, despite coming from a long line of witches, hates everything magic.

The industrial revolution led to the decline of magic and it's prestigious position as an apothecaric art faded into irrelevance. Curses have become nothing but a nighttime story shared to scare children.

When a witch places a dark curse on Miranda's mom, Miranda and Maeve have to put behind the uneasy tension that splintered there friendship and team-up to put a stop to the curse.

The gender neutral term for Latino is Latine, not Latinx.

Every time I see someone using “latinx” it’s that situation of “tell me you’re not Latine without telling me you’re not Latine”.

This honestly is long overdue, and that's mostly because of my weird obsession with perfection paired with my GAD (anxiety) that I have just been stalking other writeblrs and procrastinating on my own.

I'm an aspiring writer, and my work ranges from speculative fiction. Fantasy, historical, supernatural, sci-fi, ghosts, eldritch terrors. I love it all, typically lgbtq+ and bipoc-centered to mundane romance (I'm a sucker for a good romance). I fell in love with writing after reading Narnia when I was 10???? Still never finished anything. I'm pretty new to this and tumblr in general since I never really was the type to be active even though I have several other old accounts, but this time I'm gonna make more of an effort and promise to be active instead of lurking on your pages, hehe.

Rent paid for this month but the struggle continues

tldr: I'm a trans Latina living in South Texas. My hours are cut down below what I need to survive. I don't know if I can get more hours. I'm trans and scared of trying to find another job. Even with another job I'm probably going to need help with next month's rent.

So my hours have been slowly been cut down over the past few months. I assumed, hoped, that my hours would go back up but they haven't. I could afford HRT a couple of months ago and had to stop. I've been eating through my savings and this last month I had to ask for donations to make rent which I did just barely.

I'm stressing out so much right now because I can't just hope my hours are going to go back up. I have to talk to one of the managers about uping my hours. My non-confrontational ass is scared out of her mind. I don't think I'll be fired for asking for more hours but if I don't get them I have to find a second or new job.

I've stayed at this job (for 12 years) because the managers (2/3) have been here as long as I have and been accepting of me as a trans woman. I don't know if I can find work as an out trans woman in South Texas. I never got my name legally changed (I'm a screw up I know) so I will have to out myself every time I apply to a job. I transitioned at my current job. My managers and co-workers had a chance to get to know me before I came out to them. I don't think outing myself on the application or first interview is going to go as well.

I live an hour away from Colorado Springs.

I live forty minutes away from Boulder.

I live thirty minutes away from Aurora.

I live in Arvada, two minutes away from where John Hurley stopped a man from killing dozens in Olde Town before he was killed himself. I was there that day.

I lived In Fort Lauderdale, Florida when the shooting at Pulse Nightclub happened. I had just been there that past weekend.

I'm only 34 years old, and my life has been touched by so many shootings. But I'm lucky. I'm still here.

But there are many that aren't and it is not fair. They should all be alive. All of them. This country has many issues, but hatred is at the top.

When will it be enough? When will we wake up, and see the world that should be? Why must we see so much hate and death and vitriol being spewed at us, especially by those in power?

Black people want to live.

Disabled people want to live.

LGBT+ people want to live.

Latino people want to live.

Asian people want to live.

Jewish people want to live.

WE JUST WANT TO LIVE.

Why won't you let us?
