Ya know I find it funny how many exclusionists arguments fall apart at the simple phrase "it is not lgbtq/queer people's job to be palatable"
"Well -insert identity- makes us look bad!!! How are we going to be accepted when we're compared to THAT?"
It is not our job to be palatable.
"But homophobes & transphobes will use this as fuel to hurt us so people shouldn't use that label!!"
It is not our job to be palatable.
(Also with both of those: screw you for blaming homophobes and transphobes hurting and oppressing us on US. Victim blaming much?)
" But this identity is weird or confusing and might turn potential allies away!"
It is not our job to be palatable.
" Well as an -insert more mainstream ID-, -insert lesser known/accepted ID- is invalidating!"
It is not our job to be palatable.
It is not our job to water down our queerness, our transness and our orientation, to cater to anyone else. Our labels are for us. Not cishets. Not other queer people with internalized shit that they need to work through that make them feel others labels are a personal attack. They are for us.

"We had a diverse set and a very queer set as well which was just like...it was like for me this is just like a dream."
Tumblr media
It seems as though Sandra Oh and her gay little heart really enjoyed being on the set of Quiz Lady. But why?
Tumblr media
Oh yeah. That's why. Sorry if this is new to any Killing Eve fan who came in after this all shit went down in 2020. Here's some context for any latecomers.
Sandra Oh has said she believes the UK is “behind” when it comes to diversity in TV and film.
The Killing Eve star pointed out that she has been the only Asian person on set for many of her projects and said she believes the UK is further behind than the US.
“Being the sole Asian person is a very familiar place for me,” the Canadian-American told Kerry Washington as part of Variety magazine’s Actors on Actors series. “The UK, I’m not afraid to say, is behind. I’m not only the only Asian person on set – sometimes it changes, [it’s] very exciting when someone comes on set.” She continued: “The development of people behind the camera is very slow in the UK. I don’t know about the rest of Europe. Sometimes it would be me and 75 white people and I have not come from that.
“I have not come from that in my film career, which has been much more independent, mostly working with women and women of colour. And my relationship with television – and in the United States – hasn’t necessarily been all white.”
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
After four seasons of shooting in England with all-White, predominantly male, and definitely straight crews, I bet Sandra appreciates being back in the U.S.A. where diversity (and queerness) is a feature on Quiz Lady, not a bug like Killing Eve.

Someone left a hate comment on one of my posts, so ya know what that means: another positivity post!
m-spec lesbians/gays, lesboys, turigirls, and anyone else that is 'the reason the LGBTQ community gets mocked' are cool ASF and are an important part of the community. Fuck 'being valid' as a queer person; we're all invalid to bigots, and that doesn't mean shit. We're going to be here, we have always been here, and we're not going anywhere.
Nothing a blank 'hater' account says will change that, either.

Help by signing my petition
Make non-binary a legally recognised gender identity in the UK
Non-binary genders are not recognised in UK law. The Gender Recognition Act 2004 (GRA) enables a person to change the sex recorded on their birth certificate, either from male to female or vice versa. It makes no provision for the recognition of any other gender.
On the parliment website, I have started a petition to get the government to recognise that non-binary is a valid gender and should be recognised as a legitimate legal choice.
Before the petition can go live and allow members of the public to sign it, it requires a minimum of five signatures from supporters.
If you’re in the UK, please click the link below to show your support.

IMAGE DESCRIPTION: Watercolor design. The front of a green station wagon driving through the bleak cold Appalachia mountains lined with naked trees, a portly pastor with red hair and beard at the wheel, a teenager with a pink pixie cut smoking a cigarette in the passenger seat, a male teen in the back looking anxious and a female teen with a unibrow scrolling through her phone. [END OF IMAGE DESCRIPTION]
AUTHOR'S NOTE: If you're a fellow bookworm, you know the story you live is extremely contingent on the stories you read. How often do queer/trans/nonbinary kids see themselves as the heroes in the stories they live, much less read? Recently, I put the finishing touches on my first ever manuscript, a young adult LGBTQIA+ mystery-thriller: MY TEETH BECOME WEAPONS. If you are an avid storyteller, chances are it's because you're an avid story reader. With my sights on LGBTQIA+ literature, I see tremendous benefits in stories that romanticize the mundane and the ordinary things in queer, trans, or nonbinary characters's lives and we have been gifted some remarkable stories in that regard.
But MY TEETH BECOME WEAPONS is anything but mundane as the circumstances currently befalling queer and trans kids in our country are anything but. The story involves a pan teen boy living in rural Tennessee named Ilya slowly learning the reality of bigotry and corruption in his environment, and he must decide if taking a stand in the face of adversity and status quo is worth risking not only his safety, but the safety of his family and friends. The story takes a white-knuckled and unapologetic byway through themes of queerness, gender, conversion therapy, religion, politics, mental health, and friendship. In the wake of countless anti-LGBTQIA+ and book-banning bills, MY TEETH BECOME WEAPONS is just as unwavering in its stance on LGBTQIA+/BIPOC empowerment as the adolescent and immature characters it tells the pulse-pounding tale of. Until it's ready to hit the shelves, I'll keep you posted on its journey to your hands.

I can’t believe this is happening, that I’m one step closer to becoming the person I am.
A little bit about me is that I have known that I have wanted top surgery for the past eight years, near to a decade, I’ve known that I’ve been trans ever since the tail end of middle school and high school, and I am wrapping up college now. With that being said, being a college student, it is a bit difficult to cover the costs of such an expensive surgery. With the help of one of my closest friends, we have organized a go fund me to help cover the cost of the surgery.
Unfortunately, I don’t have much support from my family which makes things a little bit difficult but ideally, I will be getting top surgery this year so if you can’t donate, please think about sharing and spreading this as far as you can!!!

Trans-tumblr, I need advice.
(Gay cis man in the uk for context)
So basically at my work organisation, we have a pride lanyard, but my department made their own lanyard and are pressuring people to ditch personalised lanyards (including the pride lanyard work gave people who were lgbt)
I haven't given up my lanyard yet (I will not do so unless expressly ordered) but I have been protesting this pressure in my own way. My main one has been adopting the Progress pride flag (the one withe the trans and blm arrows) pin as part of my uniform, putting the PPF on my noticeboard, and am now my departments representative for the orgs LGBTQ+ Network.
This led to a *lot* of students asking, or demanding, to know if I'm trans. So I need Trans approval for something.
Basically, I wanna lean into this to help trans visability. I wanna buy trans-flag colours, get motivational pin ups for my office, and theres a reslly cool "trans women are women" pendant I wanna buy and wear at work.
But, ofc, this means that at first instance, I am knowingly letting a lot of students think I'm trans at first instance, when I 100% am not, just to double-tap them to learn more about lgbtq people.
Trans community, is this a problem for you? I'm not pretending to be trans but actively am leaning into peoples stereotypes (mainly wearing trans pride things and being uber supportive) to direct them in the right direction.
Also @agoddamnedrayofsunshine tagging you cause you have the best opinions on things like this.

11/22/22 wt 248.4
OK what do I want to say about yesterday.
I went to the fellowship dinner, it was good.
I wore an outfit I was not super comfortable with as it shows my shape.
I had invited lots of people to this thing, but no one showed up.
There was a wide variety of food (which I did not take a picture of)(social weird).
I visited with a couple of ladies that I might be becoming friends with now? 🫨 They really seemed awesome. Intelligent women!
My self evaluation is: mostly good WITH TWEAKS NEEDED FOR FUTURE.
I had one plate of the meal. Heavy on the protein, avoided the fried chicken, took the broccoli. Initially took 1 little mini cake.
The tweaks needed:
To quote Alan Roberts, I just need to quit eating so fucking much.
I was socially uncomfortable, and I think I kept going back for this or that to keep busy while I was visiting with new people.
Someone mentioned there was pecan pie, and I realized that I had missed the whole dessert table. I grabbed a piece of pie and 2 cookies.
And eventually went back for more little cakes.
So that is my note to myself. Have the pie, but next time, have a smaller slice. No cookies. No extra cakes. One and done, bitch.
Also, take the nomorbidity before dinner. Am thinking of actually moving it to earlier in the day.
Other note: stop MF shopping. No fucking more. Gawd. The debt you accrue is in fucking sane.
Posting a pic on here is terrifying to me, as I want to stay anonymous. But it is pushing outside my social comfort zone, which I am working on.
I had one where I edited out my face and a bunch of detrius in the background, but idk what happened. I clicked save, and it disappeared, like it just doesn't show up when I try to add pics. I did feel super hot. Even if people could see my shape and my giant insecurity of my giant belly. I think this shirt had a flattering fit, tho. So! wth, here is a closer pick of the top, too.
Yes, I mixed a print and a plaid. And I think this is my first time wearing those boots. I wore a white leather jacket and a teal crossbody purse.
Only 1 half hour workout yesterday, the fit class at work, low impact cardio. But I was a holy terror with cleaning, especially for such a busy day, which actually needed to be done. My legs are still tender from Saturdays workout, so I am not going to chide myself.
The Thesis blend of the day was: Confidence.
I remarked to my sister that I was confident I was getting shit done!
It was an incredibly good feeling to have energy and motivation to do *anything*
