LGBTQ+ Disabled Characters Showdown Round 1, Wave 2, Poll 1
Tumblr media Tumblr media
A character being totally canon LGBTQ+ and disabled was not required to be in this competition. Please check qualifications and propaganda before asking why a character is included.
Check out the other polls in this wave and prior here.
Floofty Fizzlebean-Bugsnax
Qualifications:
They are nonbinary (canonically use they/them pronouns) and during the plot they become an amputee.
Propaganda:
Floofty is a scientist studying bugsnax in the hopes of discovering something that could better the world. They amputated their leg to test a hypothesis on bugsnax having regenerative properties. It works, but only temporarily, and they're shown to use a prosthetic leg post-game. They're a mad scientist. They're a mild autocannibal. They only experiment on willing participants, of which they are the only one. They're selfless to the point of self-destruction. Their color pallet is the nonbinary flag. Vote Floofty.
Anything Else?:
floofty is kinda mean but that's cus every bugsnax character has reasons to like & dislike them. listen I'm paranoid that someone's gonna be like "aha! they're bad rep because they're mean!" but everyone else is equally fucked up don't worry about it
Heart-Moonlight Chicken
Qualifications:
He's deaf (and I think one of the first ever deaf love interests in a Thai drama) and canonically gay with a boyfriend.
hes canonically deaf and gay
Heart is a gay deaf character in the drama moonlight chicken.
Heart is canonically deaf and canonically has a boyfriend at the end of the series! :)
Canonically queer and deaf
He’s canonically deaf and the love interest of another male character (Li Ming)
Propaganda:
A lot of his storyline is about the struggles of being deaf in Thai society. The show is only 8 episodes and he’s only a supporting character so it can't go super in depth to it but his arc was really well done imo. He lost his hearing due to illness like 3 years before canon (I forget th exact time frame), but his parents shut him away and never learned sign language so his storyline is about being able to come into his own and leave the house and everything. Like his love interest learns sign language for him and researches what to do to help him feel normal and supports him as his parents are forced to confront how they've failed their son with their lack of acceptance of being deaf. Like his whole story is just him finally getting to live his life normally again after being shut off from the world and having a supportive boyfriend. At the end of the show, he goes to a deaf college in America to study engineering.
he became deaf after a disease and since then is isolated in his home for 3 years. these years also coincide with the pandemic. and his parents didnt learn sign, just writing their messages in a paper and sliding it to him without hearing what he has to say. he was also presumably degraded for talking because it wasnt very clear because hes literally deaf. his parents by the end of the show try to talk better to him through sign but good god. he was so lonely
Heart is an amazing character. His story show us the hardships he faces with his family acceptance but also the importance of forming a community. His love story with ming is beautiful and heartwarming.
Heart is sheltered by his parents after losing his hearing due to illness. Throughout the series, however, his parents gain more understanding of him and his abilities and he gains a found family with his boyfriend Li Ming and Li Ming's family and it's all so heartwarming and wholesome. Although his parents see him as unable to live a normal life after he loses his hearing, he disproves this by seeking work, building relationships, and getting into college for engineering. He is the best boy!
When we first meet Heart, he is very sheltered from the outside world by his parents, who have taken pretty much no effort to understand Heart’s needs or wants since he lost his hearing. He is homeschooled and doesn’t seem to have any friends or sense of community. His parents leave him alone all the time, choosing instead to focus on their work. His bedroom is full of notes that his parents have left him. Hung up on the walls are different sign language posters, clueing the audience into the fact that he taught himself sign language. Over the course of the show, Heart develops a friendship and, eventually, relationship with Li Ming, a boy who works at a chicken rice shop. Li Ming sneaks Heart out of the house, where they do all kinds of things together – participating in a lantern festival, attending a community gathering for deaf folks, and learning how to drive a motor scooter, off the top of my head. While learning how to ride the motor scooter, however, Heart has a small accident and his parents find out about him sneaking out. The confrontation scene is one that is definitely best translated on-screen, but I’ll try to describe it the best I can. Basically, Heart, Li Ming, and Heart’s parents all hash it out. Heart’s parents accuse Li Ming of influencing Heart to disobey them, Li Ming explains that Heart wanted – and is capable of – doing the things they did together, Heart’s parents barely even look at him during the entire exchange, Heart finally gets fed up and tells his parents exactly how they make him feel, and Heart’s parents have to ask Li Ming what Heart was saying. After this confrontation, things get a bit better with Heart’s parents, though not perfect. At the end of the show, Heart and Li Ming travel overseas together, where Heart attends university and Li Ming works, a dream they talk about quite a few times over the course of the show.
He’s the first deaf love interest in a Thai drama! And he has the most adorable love story with another guy called Li Ming in the show who learns sign language in order to communicate with him more effectively. While he faces struggle from his parents being extremely overprotective after he lost his hearing a few years ago (also since he’s still a teenager) it ends up resolved with them changing their mindset and allowing him full freedom. His story shows struggle while not being a tragedy, and he ends the show going to study in America with his boyfriend being really happy <3
Anything Else?:
I feel like it isn't very often we see deaf queer characters, especially not ones who find love and a happy ending!
The qualifications and propaganda paragraphs correspond, @burnsuncomet is the second submitter.

Writerblr Introduction
About me
Amélie (she/her).
Early 30s.
Writer of Romantic Fantasy.
French writing in English, living in the UK back in France.
Scientist (MSc in Chemical Engineering, PhD in Biomedical Research).
I'm part of the Nanowrimo, 4theWords, and World Anvil writing communities.
On tumblr since 2018, but I haven't really talked about my writing before or interacted with the writeblr community and I'd like to change that!
My novels and favourite tropes
I have a finished novel that I'm currently submitting to agents, 3 other novels in various stages of revision, and a ton of WIPs.
My favourite tropes and settings are:
ennemies-to-lovers romances (in all my stories XD),
magical schools/universities (I've worked in academia for a few years XD),
alternative history (especially 19th century France),
science fantasy and magical technologies,
characters who are some kind of researchers/engineers/teachers,
some disabled characters (I have chronic back pain),
LGBTQ+ -friendly settings.
Beyond novels
I also love:
writing about my characters and worlds on World Anvil,
taking part in worldbuilding challenges with World Anvil,
making art of dubious quality to illustrate my worlds,
reading about science and history,
taking cat pics! (especially Luna, my parents' cat).
Website
For a full list of my WIPs, short and flash fictions, and art of dubious quality:
Main WIPs
Courtship/Rituals of Blood and Power
Finished novel.
Romantic Fantasy.
Need a new novel title, suggestions welcome.
MC inherits the ladyship of a noble house and the enmity of the Dark Lord sworn to destroy it, and she organises a series of elaborate courtship rituals to get other powerful mages to vie for her hand and offer her alliances that could help her survive. Unfortunately, said Dark Lord immediately declares himself as one of her suitors...
The Magical University of Lille
2nd draft.
Fantasy (romance in book 2), Alternative 1850s France.
Aka HP from a teacher's POV.
MC is a teacher having to deal with bad students, deadly competitions for funding and promotion, having the Chosen One as a student, and the attention of a Dark Lord.
Portal To Sérannie
2nd draft.
Current Nanowrimo 2022 project.
Romantic Portal Fantasy.
Inspired by a tumblr prompt!
MC was called to another world to save them from a Dark Lord, but after succeeding she was sent back to France. She is furious and ready to do anything to go back and get the glory she was promised!
Engineering Corps
1st draft
Romantic Science Fantasy, Alternative 1845 France.
Set during the French revolutionary wars. MC is the new leader of the military engineering corps, but she is distrusted because she was born Flemish, in lands recently conquered by France. This is not good at a time when the guillotine is very active...
Divine Tyranny
Novel project - worldbuilding almost finished, novel partly planned.
Project for World Anvil's World Ember 2022 (December worldbuilding event)
Romantic Fantasy.
In a world where gods are all-powerful, walk among mortals, and gleefully meddle with their life, MC is an archivist advising people on how to deal with them while trying to avoid having to do so herself. It becomes harder when a god suddenly wants to mess up the archival records.
Dark Lord Seduction Plan
Novel project - novel plotted, worldbuilding to do
Project for World Ember 2022 (December worldbuilding event)
Romantic Fantasy.
MC is forced by her family to marry, but if she is going to do so, it will only be with the most eligible man in the country. And who is more eligible than the Dark Lord? She only needs to make him realise how amazing she is herself!

writeblr introduction
Tumblr media
Hey! I'm Arsen, I'm a Ukrainian-American in high school. I've been writing and making other forms of art for many years, and am planning on posting both my writing and my other art on this account! I've had this account for a while, yet it has undergone many breaks and changes so I'm reintroducing myself.
Some basic facts...
I'm 17 and will be 18 later this year
I currently live in the Northeastern US but my family is Ukrainian
My main blog for everything but my art is @thembones07
My account used to be under @/cryptidsandqueers
I tend to write mostly dark fantasy, horror, gothic, and literary fiction. I write both short stories and novels, and most of my works include a good deal of body horror. I am a big fan of using gore and horror as a vessel to demonstrate themes and put societal commentary in my writing ("A Modest Proposal"-style). I write mostly LGBTQ+ characters, and am a big fan of haunted house and mad scientist tropes. I make patches for clothes, including band patches, make other crafts, and draw. I am also into goth, industrial, metal, and grunge music, oddities, and fungi. I am currently planning on studying biology or mathematics after graduating high school.
I love doing ask and tag games, though sometimes I do get lazy and forget to. I also don't mind adults following me, but I am very liberal with my block button, so don't do any weird stuff no matter your age!
I've been wanting to connect to more writers on here, especially more horror writers, and refreshing my dash!
So with that out of the way, here are some of my works in progress...
Novels:
The Promethean Society (working title) - novel series - currently planning - dark fantasy/horror/apocalyptic dystopian
On a post-apocalyptic earth where some possess the ability to manipulate bodily tissue, a prestigious university opens its doors for the first time in 15 years, and young adults eager to serve the god of flesh pour in. The select few with the power are taught how to harness and grow it, given special treatment above the rest. They stumble into a world of lies, illegal experimentation, and fraudulent history. While trying to stay alive in the dungeons of the academy, which are crawling with unfinished experiments, the students must decide wherever to obey the Clergy and the god they supposably serve, or rebel and reveal the truth.
This is my main project right now, I am veryyy attached to it and it has undergone SERIOUS changes over the years. It features me being overly edgy and also a nerd, and is an exploration of corruption in the scientific research field but with body horror and gore. There is also a great deal of speculative biology, mad science, sibling relationships, and enemies to lovers.
Untitled - novel - currently planning, on the backburner - contemporary fantasy/folkore fantasy
After being away from her hometown for many years, a Ukrainian trans girl comes back and discovers a ecosystem she believed she'd imagined there. This is a novel about reconnecting with ones culture while feeling alienated from it because you are queer and grew up in a different country, as well as a love letter to nature and folklore.
This is a VERY self-indulgent story. The main character is Ukrainian-American and trans, like me, and the story deals with many issues I face everyday. I still need to do a lot of research before writing this because its setting is based on Ukrainian folklore and spirits.
Short stories:
The Architect - short story - 2nd draft completed - literary horror
A man is pressured by his dead mother's aspirations for him, with her dreams for him physically manifesting on his body.
This is a story about parents who raise kids for self-indulgent reasons and pressure them to fulfill the parents' unrealized dreams.
The House of Famish - short story - 1st draft completed - gore horror
A couple living in a carnivorous house fight over wherever to live by tradition or reject the harmful past.
I am very happy with this title and this story. It discusses familial attachments to unhealthy traditions through very cool visuals and features a subverted haunted house.
If you read this to the end, ily <3

Yuuta Tomonaga
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Age: 10
Home: Nanamagari City (Brave Police J-Decker)
Likes: Robots, wearing girl’s clothes
Dislikes: Bugs, ghosts
Rank: Chief Inspector
Okay, yes, Yuuta is a cop. Technically. But I’m pretty sure he only joins the police to stay with his robot buddy, and we all had bad ideas when we were his age, so I’m sure we can forgive him. And yes, one of the profiles posted yesterday was a child who has waterboarded multiple people.
Wait, why am I worrying so much about this when a bunch of the bracket’s kids are villainous mass murderers? That’s worse than being a cop! Probably.
Anyways, there’s not much to say about Yuuta. He’s a grade schooler who discovers a secret transforming police robot named Deckerd. He befriends the robot, “teaches him various things about life,” and accidentally turns Deckerd into a sentient being capable of empathy. The police obviously have to wipe Deckerd’s personality before he can enter police service. (I am not making this up, by the way. The wiki doesn’t imply a connection between that and the empathy, but I sure will!)
Luckily, Yuuta intervenes when a mad scientist tries to steal the memory-wiped Deckard, which…somehow restored its memories of Yuuta, which I assume has something to do with the “Super-AI” thing explained by neither the wiki nor TV Tropes? Apparently all “Super-AI” treat Yuuta as a little brother to protect. Also, he’s promoted to chief inspector when he’s still a tween, for some reason? This sounds like a weird show.
I can’t find much information about his personality. He misses his parents, who are archaeologists and I guess work somewhere far from Nanamagari. He’s exceptionally empathetic for a cop, even to the point of trying to save convicts instead of fighting the evil robot that was attacking the prison. Also, TV Tropes mentions that he was happy to cross-dress to infiltrate an all-girl’s school?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
…yeah, he looks pretty happy. Happier than he does in the other pictures on the wiki. Huh.
Anyways, has anyone posted about the humans in this this obscure mid-90’s in-house Transformers knockoff?
I finally gave into peer pressure and started watching Brave Police J-Decker, and all I am saying so far is that Yuuta is ABSOLUTELY going to be pioneering Nanamagari's LGBTQ+ Community when he grows up. No one dresses like THAT at age 10 and grows up to be both cisgender and heterosexual
okay random thoughts but i just couldnt help myself but im completely amazed how much Yuuta had to go through during the series like do you have any idea how much this 10-11 years old little boy had to overcome countless devastating moments? [...] he acted as a kid for most of the time, but there have been moments when he judged better than anybody else. he took action regardless of his sorrows and agonies..i know this can be spoilers, but—
Yuuta, you really should pick better places to sleep.

"We wrote her that way": Entrapta and autistic representation in She-Ra
Tumblr media
Entrapta forgives Catra for exiling her to Beast Island at the end of Season 3, and being a jerk to her in the past, in the episode, "Taking Control"
In November of last year, I wrote about Entrapta, one of my favorite characters in the animated series, She-Ra and the Princesses of Power, because she is morally gray character, a hacker, and a "smart and quirky chaotic neutral icon." In that post, I examined her character in the first four seasons of the show, noting that she is an autistic character who makes her own decisions, acting as "a princess with prehensile hair who is [also] a scientist and inventor always trying to tinker with ancient technology. " I also criticized some who claimed she is a "hurtful" representation of autistic people, noting that she is sweet and underappreciated, pointing out that Bow is the only one who sees her sympathetically, and that she stays in the Fright Zone by choice. I further noted that she is dedicated to science and research, sticks up for Catra when Hordak wants to send her to Beast Island, and stated that when she is rescued from Beast Island in Season 4 she "goes with them back to Bright Moon because of data and scientific discovery, not because of friendship or anything else." I additionally made a comparison between her and Peridot in Steven Universe, with storyboarder Maya Peterson (the same one who said Peri is asexual and aromatic), said she doesn't interpret Peridot as autistic. I intend this post will be an update from my previous post, talking about her in the show's final (and fifth) season, which started streaming on May 15th.  If you haven't see the new season, please do so because this post is filled with spoilers! It is important to write about this because series creator ND Stevenson confirmed that Entrapta was autistic, basing Entrapta on an autistic person on the SPOP crew, a full-time storyboard artist named Sam Szymanski. [1]
Reprinted from my History Hermann WordPress blog and also Wayback Machine. It was originally published on May 27, 2020.
Most of the commentary about the new season has focused on the mutual confession of romantic feelings by Catra and Adora, shipped as Catradora, who kiss in the show's final episode, with their love literally saving the world (and universe) from destruction. This is the right focus, while some have noted the other LGBTQ characters confirmed like Seahawk (whose ex is named Falcon), Kyle and Rogelio, the relationship between Perfuma and Scorpia, or the romance between Bow and Glimmer, among many other topics. [2] After all, as Lindsey Mantoan, wrote in a CNN opinion, She-Ra is the "best queer representation on television." In the process, however, little has been said about Entrapta. In fact, of many reviews I looked at, only a few even mentioned her in their analyses, despite her pivotal role in at least part of the season. [3] While one reviewer for A.V. Club (Shannon Miller) claimed that the show trades an in-depth look at Entrapta's treatment for "heroics," and saying there could have been "more reflection from those who have outwardly had more difficulty understanding Entrapta’s mindset, " another, for Forbes, Linda Maleh, says the opposite. Maleh argues that Entrapta gets a lot "a lot of screen time as she learns to balance her love of machines with her desire to connect with people," calling her entirely "adorkable," and that her character gives viewers some of the most touching and funny moments of the show. I tend to agree with Maleh more than Miller. Similarly, I think that Heather Hogan of Autostraddle makes a valid point in saying that Wrong Hordak brought out the charming parts of Entrapta, stating that it was nice to see her understanding how to work alongside friends, express herself better, and her feelings, while the princesses "start to understand her for who she really is." Although it is positive these reviewers noted her role in the season, there is clearly a lot more going on about Entrapta than what Miller, Maleh, or Hogan talk about.
Entrapta, who is between the ages 28 and 30, appears in every single episode of the fifth season, apart from episode 10, can be said to be the "smartest" character in the series. In the previous season,  she was rescued from Beast Island by Bow, Adora, and Swift Wind, reminded about her true friends while ancient technology continued to pull her in. In contrast, in this season, she struggles to find a place among the other princesses, as highlighted in the episode "Launch." Since Entrapta has been a morally grey character in the past, it makes sense that the princesses are a bit distrustful. Even Emily, with her name as an obscure reference to Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, turns away from Enttapta when it appears that she cares more about tech "than saving their friend." After that episode, the princesses begin to understand her better. She later helps out Adora and Bow save Glimmer from Horde Prime's flagship. Glimmer is transported through space by Catra, in her first likely selfless act. She then helps Adora, Bow, and Glimmer successfully rescue Catra from Prime's flagship, called the Velvet Glove. She even does surgery on Catra, removing the chip in her neck. She, additionally, forgives Catra after she apologizes for treating her terribly. As a reminder, at the end of Season 3, Catra panicked when Entrapta tried to warn Hordak to not start the portal. She then orders her to be sent to Beast Island. She is shocked with what she is done (as is Scorpia by this cruel act against her), beginning her descent down a "dark, dangerous path." Basically, Catra blamed Entrapta for her own mistakes.
In the rest of the season, Entrapta continues to help the princesses and tries to disable all the chips before being transported to Prime's flagship. She apologizes to everyone when captured by Prime, literally the head of a cult of mindless drone soldiers. Whether Entrapta has platonic or romantic feelings for Hordak, the latter shipped as Entrapdak by one of of the show's story editors (and some other fans), it is up the viewer. [4] As some fans noted back in March, a few months before the recent season premiered, it is clear that there is "some chemistry between her and Hordak" and some even call their relationship "sweet," although I'm not sure I would go that far. In any case, it does mean that Hordak is more than a one-dimensional villain like in the original She-Ra: Princess of Power series in the 1980s which was used to sell action figures for Mattel. Through some searching, I did find an interview with Stevenson (complete with unfortunate spelling errors by the person who wrote the transcript of her interview responses) where he specifically talks about how Entrapta grows in this season:
I think with a character like Entrapata [sic], we sort of live in a little bit of her own version of the world that the other characters don’t always understand...It's not only Entrapta learning how to empathize and connect with others, but also for others to learn how to empathize and connect with her. And so I think with both sides of that, we see [Entrapta] growing this season. What I think has always been [Entrapta's] strength is that, even if she might struggle with communicating her feelings or understanding other characters when they’re communicating their feelings to her, I think her strength as a character -- kind of her superpower -- is that she sees humanity in everything. Not just in humanoid or organic creatures, but she sees humanity in robots. She sees humanity in the AI that drives ships. She sees humanity in one clone in a million identical clones and knows their personality and knows who they are and knows how to connect with them... I think we see her make a lot of progress on that front, but then we also see her. I think she does more than almost any other character in humanizing characters who have never been humanized before by anyone....It's so much of what is the heart of this show. It seems like that’s what makes Etherea [sic] special in general is that everyone who comes to Etherea [sic] isn’t getting broken by it a little bit. They end up making connections and falling in love in ways they never thought were possible. And I think Entrapta really embodies that."
Furthermore, as a morally grey character, who played a "big hand in some of the Horde-led destruction on Etheria," she still cares about her friends. While some may question her renewal of the individuality or "humanity" of Hordak, becoming his first genuine friend, later leading him to turn against Horde Prime, she clearly had a "unique perspective on the world that not everyone understands." Earlier in the season, when she encounters Hordak before he is freed from Prime's control, in an attempt to access the computer control center of Horde Prime so she can disable the mind-control chips, helped by Swift Wind, she tells Hordak “remember, your imperfections are beautiful!” When the essence of Prime is destroyed by She-Ra, he is freed, and is soon reunited with Entrapta, who says that she is "so glad" to see him back.
By this point, it is clear that Entrapta is not the "worst kind of villain" as some described her and is more than a person who "only cares about the pursuit of knowledge," no matter the consequences, as Brett Elderkin described her, also calling her a "mad scientist," but rather just a morally grey character, or perhaps "chaotic neutral" to use a Dungeons and Dragons term. That brings me to a recent article by Megan Crouse in Den of Geek appropriately titled "She-Ra: In Defense of Entrapta." She states that while Entrapta occasionally embraces the trope of not caring about "people who might be hurt when dangerous experiments go wrong," she is much more than that, and dramatically changes in Season 5. Crouse added that Entrapta in Season 4 was not truly happy as a hermit on Beast Island, although she maintained her fascination with science, missing people, and afraid that "her friends will inevitably abandon her." She then talks about the episode "Launch" where Entrapta's conflict with the fellow princesses reaches a boiling point, putting others in danger, with her actions "extremely, comically risk," wanting to win at no matter the cost. After Mermista accuses Entrapta of not caring about any of them, and not being trustworthy as a result, she responds by saying she didn't realize they were angry at her. She then retreats to apologizing, one of her many defensive mechanisms, stating
I’m not good at people, but I am good at tech. I thought maybe if I could use tech to help you, you’d like me. But I messed that up, too.
As she barrels ahead, Mermista pulls her back by her hair (just as Horde Prime does later), and is finally convinced of her good nature when Entrapta declares “Glimmer needs us!,” indicating she is willing to put herself in harms away as much as anyone else. As Crouse further outlines, while Entrapta's action is similar to what she has done in the past, as she begins to explain how and why she acts and feels the way she does, gaining more friends along the way. Even so, she still clearly has trouble reading people, which is not "magically cured throughout this season." While Crouse says that it would "have been nice to see Entrapta really feel the consequences of her dangerous actions," I would counter and say she did grow a lot in this season. On the other hand, I agree with Crouse that it is "sweeter to see her pursue science and friendship" than just tinkering with technology on Beast Island. While I can see why she argues that Entrapta is annoying, she makes a good point that Entrapta is not letting her "loner tendencies turn into complete isolation, but nor does she have to completely change who she is." As a side note, Entrapta cuts her own bangs, as Stevenson said once, although this is terrifying considering her power tools! Yikes!
Now, lets get to the elephant in the room: Entrapta flirting with technology. The first time this happens is in the episode "Launch," declaring flirtatiously: "Hello. You are very technologically advanced" before almost being blown to smithereens by the Horde robot. Then, in the episode "Stranded" she says: "Darla and I are going to spend some quality time together," again in a flirtatious manner, leading to confused looks from Adora, Bow, and Glimmer. Now, robosexuality, a term seemingly coined and/or popularized by Futurama, means the "love and/or sexuality between a humanoid and a robot." From these two interactions you could say that she is robosexual. Let us consider what Stevenson said about Entrapta: that she is learning to connect and empathize with others, and sees humanity in everything, knowing their personality and how to connect with them. One fan put Entrapta very well, remarking that she is a functional adult who can make full decisions, arguing that she is "chaotic good with a bad moral compass who likes to fuck space nazis," saying she makes bad decisions. I can agree with that to an extent, except to say that it makes sense why she ended up working for the Horde, since the princesses had not really liked/understood her before that point. Another fan noted, correctly, that Entrapta (and Scorpia) but had to earn the trust of the princesses in their own ways.
That's all! Comments are welcome.

[1] In her first tweet, she responded to a fan who asked if entrapta is autistic, saying that "many of us relate to her and love her so much and it would mean a lot if we could get confirmation of her being autistic." She responded by saying: "yes, we wrote her that way. One of our crewmembers was on the spectrum and related to her specifically, and had a huge part in shaping her story and character!" She further explained that "the crew member was board artist @Sizzlemanski. His first episode was Entrapta’s introductory episode in season 1 [System Failure] and he had a HUGE hand not only in defining her physical acting, but also pitched me several ideas for her arc early on! He basically became our go-to for Entrapta."
[2] As Stevenson stated on Twitter, he hopes that in the future we stop thinking about LGBT representation as a "race or a contest" and as more of a "community effort to uplift voices that have not yet had their stories told," with each individual piece of media as a "broadening of horizons."
[3] When ND Stevenson was interviewed by comicbook.com, Nerdist, Gizmodo, A.V. Club, L.A. Times, Polygon, Digital Spy, GLAAD, EW, and CBR, the interviewers understandably focused on the Catra/Adora slow-burn relationship, but never asked a question about Entrapta. One interviewer for Collider asked "...So we’ve got Bow and Glimmer, we’ve got Sea Hawk and Mermista, we’ve even got kind of an interesting relationship with Entrapta and Hordak, and then obviously CatrAdora. But did you know from the beginning how everybody was going to pair off or is that something that kind of developed over time?" but he never specifically replied about the "relationship with Entrapta and Hordak." Reviews of the show in The Mary Sue, PinkNews, LA Times, tor.com, and ScreenRant do not even mention Entrapta at all!
[4] On Instagram, ND Stevenson said that Entrapta would follow Hordak to Beast Island as his community services for his crimes and as a result, the "two would develop a romantic relationship and reunite with the bot she left behind in Season 4, keeping her promise to return," so it sounds like it is leaning toward romance, as noted in a summary on her fandom page. Also see Emily Hu who noted they did board a scene with Entrapta and Hordak but it never ended up being included. There is clearly a connection between Entrapta and Hordak, but I'm still not sure if it is romantic or friendly. It could really go either way.

What are your favorite Bart/Ed fics, if you have any?
Oh there are so many great Ed/Bart fics out there and there’s probably more since I’ve only ever looked on AO3 but here’s a list of the ones that have stuck with me the most…
Mamma Mia, he’s Italiano! by Toca
The impeccable timing of everything by Toca
Keep the lights turned off by Toca
The thing I really love about these is the use of times stamps like the show - it’s so effective - it makes them feel like actually episodes of the series. Particularly with impeccable timing, there’s so much depth in the storytelling that draws you in and makes it so easy to connect with everyone and everything that happens - every character feels fleshed out and real. Also I do love a good long fic!
Invulnerable by Ailerua
(I'll Be) Fine by Ailerua
These are two really great hurt/comfort fics that masterfully explore Bart’s emotional complexities - in a way we have still yet to see explored in the actual show. Also invulnerable made me fall in love with Ed and Jaime’s friendship and that is another thing I actually wanna see depicted in the show — give me more of the best friend squad!
Honeybaby by Golden_Hearts
you’re a sunflower (I think your love would be too much) by LogicalBookThief
These are two fics that remain incomplete (😩) but honestly the writing that’s there is truly phenomenal! The character dynamics are amazing— everything about them is just SO GOOD! The relationship between Bart and Cissie in sunflower is both entertaining and endearing - it is so fun to read and reread their scenes together. Whilst honeybaby is a no powers/collage/coffee shop au which portrays Ed and Bart as completely different yet possess a connection that makes them totally perfect for one another - they see behind each other’s masks… also Traci is stellar every time she shows up!
Field Trip to Davy Jones' Locker by FrozenWaffle
Aspirin by FrozenWaffle
These are some of the earliest fics I remember reading and I honestly think they’re are what truly and absolutely established my love for this pairing in those earliest of days. I was new to fandom and fan fiction and shipping - especially for a LGBTQ+ couple (I had a very closed minded existence until Ed&Bart pulled me into this much more colourful and open minded world that I genuinely love being a part of) - these fics gave me my first taste of what this relationship could be and I have been hooked ever since - there was no going back after reading these.
Sons of a Scientist Father by hart051
While this doesn’t really have much Bart in it - only a little bit at the end - I just really enjoy seeing Ed and Vic connect over their experiences dealing with their scientist fathers. It’s simple and sweet and it is exactly what I wanted to see explored in some way… also the Ed/Bart interaction at the end is really cute!
Into the Nothing by hlwar
Now this is actually just an Ed fic set after S2 (Bart’s not in it at all) but it is my all time FAVOURITE fic that I have ever read EVER! If I’m ever in need of an Ed fix, I read this fic - everything about it is PERFECT! It’s so brilliantly crafted that I genuinely consider these events canon - they happened - no question about it! I LOVE IT SO MUCH!!
And that’s my list. I hadn’t actually been checking their tag on AO3 for a while - since whenever I did there were no updates and that made me sad - but in compiling this list I realised there’s some I actually haven’t read yet — so I’ll be checking those out next…
If anyone has any fic recommendations from other sites or that I haven’t mentioned here which are Ed/Bart focused then feel free to drop me a message and I’ll add them to the reading list!

Boom. First post.
Hello there! Nice to talk to the void.
I'm a writer, a part of the LGBTQ+, chronically not allowed near normal people, mad scientist at times and kooky wizard at others, etc., and this is where I'm going to dump all my miscellaneous works and tidbits, maybe even some bigger works, I'm not sure yet. I mostly write fantasy, horror (or at least attempted horror) and poetry, so you might see those here.
About myself- I use they/them pronouns, I live in a place that's way too hot sometimes, I love art (I've got a separate blog for some of my stuff). I also love the comic/series Heartstopper and love anime although I don't get to watch it much.
Feel free to ask anything- if I have time, I might give any writing requests a go, that sounds like fun.
Anyways. Goodbyyeeeee :)

71, 50, 48 for the book rec ask!!
And feel free to ramble about any other books
48. “Your favourite sci-fi novel”
Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy omg BOOK OF ALL TIME makes me laugh so so much but also makes stop and think about society and humanity at times. Also Arthur and Ford are best best friends that are gay for each other (honestly their friendship and love for each other is the backbone for this series it’s so beautiful aaaaa) and Ford gives me gender envy >:P
(Honourable mention to the Wayfarer series ofc for being so inventive and cool and well thought out and makes you think and fun found family vibes throughout)
50. “A book that made you cry a LOT”
Loveless by Alice Oseman because OUGH it hits very close to home and the way Georgia’s whole story is told and how asexuality and aromanticism and the whole lgbtq+ community is represented is so so beautiful.
71. “Your favourite LGBTQ+ fiction”
Loveless ofc, I’ll also say The Gravity of Us because MAN IT’S JUST SO FUN! Very satisfying plot of going against the brands and companies and instead showing the *humans* behind the work (at NASA!) and defeating the companies through the power of Scientists Getting To Rant On Video and also Gay Love!
Other honourable mentions!!!!!!!
Once Upon A Con series! OMG I LOVE THESE SO SO MUCH. The queer rep! The shenanigans! The billions of sci-fi references! The fic-like plots! The chaos of cons! They’re such a heartwarming homage to fandom and the community that comes with it
Daisy on the Outer Line. Ok. So. This is written in Strong Glaswegian Accent, so if you don’t think you could understand that,,, maybe don’t read this skfjksjf,,, it’s so incredibly good tho. There is subtle queer rep (asexual and… bi? If I remember correctly?) and it’s such a gorgeous reflection of Life and how tough it can be, but to see the good things despite the hardship. Left me feeling warm and cosy but also made me cry a bit and laugh a lot.

Despite my busy schedule of reading fanfic, writing fanfic, and thinking about what I should do next in the fanfic, I managed to finish reading a book! A Lady's Guide to Celestial Mechanics, by Olivia Waite. I think my final verdict is "it's okay, but it could have been a lot better." (Crossposting from my DW, if this looks familiar to anyone.)
Basic synopsis: Lucy Muchelney has been working as her astronomer father's scientific assistant and in fact doing much of the work. She meets Catherine, Countess of Moth, who is a new widow and former victim of spousal emotional abuse, and tries to make it as a scientist in her own name with her new patroness. The official, misogynistic scientific society is against her, but her pop-published translation of an important French work takes off, leading them to try to embarrass her in a debate with the original author - only to inadvertently champion the cause of minorities in science. A happy ending!
To start with: it's well-written. Like, the text is never clunky, the prose is very nice. That's more than I can say for a LOT of romance novels. It's lacking all the romance-novel clichés that I hate!
But ... that's also a negative. The romance novel clichés, it turns out, are extremely boring to me when they're het - I'm always like, "why can't the man and the woman actually get along when they're not kissing/having sex? why can't they support each other? why can't things happen that aren't directly related to the deep erotic blaze they feel?" when I make the mistake of picking up a straight romance novel, and Lady's Guide does a great job of saying, "they can!" Unfortunately, this means that there is no tension or conflict between the characters until close to the very end, and it only lasts about a chapter. It turns out that I am actually super into those clichés as long as it's with a queer romance! As my AO3 output will show, frankly.
But yeah, the characters are kind of doe-eyed and supportive of each other and the story barely has anything to do with their romance, which is a cardinal sin in Romancelandia. They meet, Lucy comes to live with Catherine, they both dart glances at each other like "is she ... ?" and then they give in and kiss, and then they have sex. The obstacle comes in when they meet Lucy's ex, Pris, who got married to a man at the beginning of the book - cribbing a bit from Anne Lister, it's a Marianna situation except that Lucy finds it pretty easy to resist her - and Catherine is jealous and they don't communicate briefly, confusing them into thinking the other is done with the relationship before they explain and come back together. More grievously still for me, they just seem very samey. Their personalities seem pretty similar and if they had different aesthetics I didn't pick up on it or forgot.
Which brings me to my next point: it might just be that I knew the third book in the series was about working-class suffragists (which is extremely Social Justice Approved), but I felt like so much of this characterization and plot was determined on the basis of "what would make this book Feminist and LGBTQ+ Positive?" Lucy is introduced with her dickish painter brother threatening to sell her telescope, and the men of the scientific society are all wankers who condescend to women, promoting a well-connected (white) male idiot to do the official translation over Lucy and a biracial man. Pretty much every female character has some kind of passion or talent that is being stifled by society, which they turn into something lucrative by the end, and Waite is careful to not focus just on STEM but to have characters announce that Embroidery Is Art, Too and so on. One of the reasons that Catherine and Lucy seem so samey is that they are carefully constructed to walk a middle path between butch and femme, closer to the femme side, which avoids the cliché of historical women hating gowns and corsets etc.
And I hear you saying, but Cassidy! It sounds like she did everything you complain about authors not doing! This is true. However, it felt like it was done specifically to make discourse-savvy readers happy rather than because it was true to characters that appeared in her head. (Also, I freaking love a strong butch/femme dynamic, I am high femme and I swoon at the thought of a tall, chivalrous butch, particularly if she sometimes dresses in historical male clothing. GOD. In general I like "opposites attract" ships, really.)
This all being said, I loved the twist of the French author turning out to be a titled woman of color - it was really well handled. I didn't think at all about their identity, just assumed they were a Macguffin, and so the reveal blindsided me. Very little in romance novels is actually surprising, so that was great. But on the whole, I didn't feel the feelings I ought to have felt in reading. And maybe my standards have been off because I've been reading OFMD fic that really makes me feel things lately, but IDK.

Such as being a; Communication device, controlling machines around their underground lab facility, a key, storage device, teleporter, AI system, and it's actually use from the show lol -The characters that Diamond most commonly interacts with are: "The Tentacle Arms" (which he can actually remove and reattach, when not in use they just sit on this fancy pedestal thing, hooked up to the facility's main frame so they don't get bored, GhostFreak who is a rather reluctant hire, Carnage who is just happy to be along for the ride, and the Omnitrix which actually has an essential AI system installed on it. -In regards to Diamond's abilities, he essentially travels to point in time where villains get defeated, pauses time, and says "Hey look you're about to be the captain that goes down with the ship but I can offer you an essential redemption opportunity, but yah gotta work with me, and trust me I'm literally someone you can't backstab, like it's actually physically impossible, but hey I'm your ticket out of here, your choice!
