The genderfluid representation I personally really want to see one day is a reoccurring background/supporting character in a movie/series that just sometimes presents feminine for a few days but then that same character presents masculine next few days, then one feminine day again then you can't even tell
and everyone just uses whatever pronouns for them and noone says anything about the changing presentation the character just exists there and we know it's still the same character and noone calls them genderfluid it's just commonly understood this character is fluid and it's no big deal no profound struggle no "true" sex or gender reveal it's just Sam from the coffee shop he makes the best lattes and she gives a discount to the main character for protagonist reasons
Alternatively every character that knows them thinks they're a different gender Stacy thinks Sam's a girl and has a crush on her, Billy is convinced Sam's a guy and does a handshake with him and they call each other bro, Max is too embarrassed to ask so they just always use they/them pronouns for Sam
It's never "revealed" which pronoun is right because they all are sometimes

REFUSING COMPULSORY SEXUALITY | ARC REVIEW
REFUSING COMPULSORY SEXUALITY: A BLACK ASEXUAL LENS ON OUR SEX-OBSESSED CULTURE BY SHERRONDA J. BROWN  ★★★★★
Expected release date: 13 September 2022
Genre: Nonfiction, Psychology, LGBTQ+, Race
Summary:
In this exploration of what it means to be Black and asexual in America today, Sherronda J. Brown offers new perspectives on asexuality. She takes an incisive look at how anti-Blackness, white supremacy, patriarchy, heteronormativity, and capitalism enact harm against asexual people, contextualizing acephobia within a racial framework in the first book of its kind. Brown advocates for the “A” in LGBTQIA+, affirming that to be asexual is to be queer--despite the gatekeeping and denial that often says otherwise. (Storygraph)

My review: (spoiler-free)
Refusing Compulsory Sexuality is by far the most compelling and important book I have read in my lifetime and I will never stop recommending it to others. As someone who reads a lot about sexuality and gender, I wondered how much I would actually learn by reading this. The answer? I learned a lot. Despite its American focus, the topics are universal enough to indulge an international audience.
The book explores a great variety of topics, talking, for instance, about both historical and modern views on Black asexuality, the ways capitalism and white cisheteropatriarchy instilled many problematic ideas in society, and a lot about sex and the history of its traditional gender roles. Each chapter is eye-opening and has taught me more than I ever expected one book could do.
Brown uses content warnings in all chapters to mark spoilers and to announce triggering topics which is very helpful, especially seeing how a lot of the chapters discuss heavier topics. The book uses inclusive language and reading it felt like a very inviting learning experience. One problem I had is that there’s a lot of repetition of certain ideas which can make the book feel longer, however, it is a great way to drive home vital points and themes throughout the book so it certainly didn’t hinder my reading experience.
If you have any interest in race, gender and/or sexuality, this is the book for you. There are many specific terms used that can make reading the book a bit more difficult, but the language isn’t entirely inaccessible and still enjoyable enough to get through easily. An important piece of nonfiction that I hope will reach many people’s bookshelves!
*Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for a chance to read an ARC of this book for free, in exchange for an honest review.*

NetGalley Review: The No-Girlfriend Rule by Christen Randall
Hey all, Sam here. Here we are with another TTRPG related book review, and yes, I have another one for tomorrow as well. What can I say? This week was a good one for folks who want to read awesome role-playing game related books. I am definitely loving that we are getting more books in the world with characters who indulge in geeky hobbies. It’s nice as a geek girl to see characters who I…

Goodreads | Amazon US when i heard sapphic medusa reimagining with a dark academia setting, i knew i couldn’t resist reading this for too long. and this book is that! and i really loved the romance! and i will always love seeing women getting revenge and healing the way they want to heal against horrible acts committed against them!! but this is a dark book that really centers on sexual assault at this college, so please use caution and take care of yourselves while reading. (i would say just skip chapter 2 when the on page rape happens, but different assaults happen and are discussed throughout this entire story.) after chapter two, we get to see lex almost a year later, back at the university that did nothing to protect her and everything to protect her rapist, and she is ready to get that revenge that she deserves. she is also ready, with the help of her sister, to take revenge for people who feel voiceless and put fear in the men who walk around campus feeling untouchable after making people feel voiceless. but when a girl who is supposed to be part of lex’s personal revenge starts to feel like something she has always wanted, things get a little more complicated. i really liked the romance in this. going into this book, i was scared because i knew it had a revenge element, but i didn’t feel any weird power dynamics, there was no bullying towards one another, and i felt like both girls just truly liked each other from the very start. i also felt like luna’s journey in realizing she is bi was really thoughtfully done and realistic. and i also really respected and enjoyed lex’s portrayal for always knowing she is a lesbian. i know the salted pasta water is still crazy, but the sex scenes were actually extremely well done – maybe some of the best i’ve read. and i just really enjoyed watching this romance unfold. i just really respected what this book and story is, and i wish we got more books like this. i wish we got more empowering books about women getting revenge on the people who have committed these acts that our broken systems don’t accurately punish them for. And i also wish we got more books of just girls falling in love, girls discovering their sexuality, and girls having all different kinds of relationships – some quiet, some loud, some slow, some fast, some light, some heavy. (i feel like some of the comments i am seeing about the romance/sex in this book… you all are not saying this to the 500 m/m romances we get every year. i really appreciate this story and what it is doing for so many reasons, but also the reason the baseline fact that we need more sapphic stories of all kinds.) i also “enjoyed” (it feels weird to say that for this but…. i just think it’s an important conversation) seeing the discussion on how men/society can treat lesbians because the world cannot fathom someone not being attracted to men in some shape or form or way. How people will say you’re just confused, or you just haven’t had a good experience with a man yet, because it is impossible for some people to wrap their minds around their own unimportance (and their misogyny). i am pan, but i really respected that being shown in this book, because i sadly do think that is a reality for so many people who aren’t interested in men romantically or sexually and it should be talked about (and unlearned) more. overall, i just really am happy this book exists for many reasons. i loved the sapphic romance and seeing these two girls heal and realize that they deserve good and safe things, maybe even with the unconditional help and support from one another. and i also really respected what the author did with these darker themes and the helplessness people often feel. i’m not saying this was a perfect book by any means, but i am thankful for it and i really hope this author writes more sapphic romance in the future, because i will be preordering. trigger + content warnings: rape and sexual assault (on page, many different depictions, and talked about through the entirety of this book), not being bel...

:P). Vou colocar as informações no início de cada capítulo. É isso, espero que gostem!

Time to Shine by Rachel Reid
Loved it and I'll definitely get the audio when it comes out. Holy moly, how much I love these two characters!! Casey is total sunshine and Landon is such a good guy who's way too hard on himself. I loved getting to see Landon learn to accept how much Casey loves him and that he deserves to be loved sigh it was just wonderful. I love Rachel Reid's writing, her pacing, character development….it all hits right. I really enjoyed the slow burn here and loved that Casey and Landon become really good friends before they start hooking up, and how almost everything plays out. There's less hockey play time than other stories from Reid's Game Changers universe but that just serves to allow 'Time to Shine' to be more hurt-comfort and relationship centered. Recommended!
