"Inspire" - fanart of Chinese actor Li Dai Kun - Digital painting
I'm really proud of this >.< 🙏dontflop dontflop dontflop🙏It's the first proper (so, non-chibi) painting I've finished this year - it's been a busy/stressful year.
This started off as a practice sketch that, one night, I decided to paint "just for the lulz."
As such, I had no plan for ... well, anything other than was was on the sketch.😅 And then things (literally) grew from there.
Referenced from [this scene] in his commercial for Hua Niang skincare products.
“I agreed to make a deal with Wen Ke Xing because I wanted to stab you in the back during your proudest moment just to prove to you that I get to decide whether to overthrow you or not, and how!”

WORD OF HONOR (2021) - Episode 34.
The thing about heartbreaker and Azz (other misfits as well but especially Azz) is that Azz doesn't need the lesson for which the test is designed. Not letting victories sweeten their heads and getting too cocky.
Remind them of the taste of defeat so that from there they can improve for their own good.
Azz learned all this from day one at the entrance ceremony when Iruma defeated him. In fact we can say that in the whole first year Azz only knew defeat.
His fight against Iruma when he met him? He lost
Canonball execution against Iruma? He lost again
The harvest festival? He was disqualified.
Azz was everything the teachers think the Misfits are (they are a little right with some tbh cof cof cof Lied cof cof cof) too proud, too focused on himself.
Although Azz had every right to be proud, there is a quote from Pride and Prejudice that reminds me of Azz "One cannot wonder that so very fine a young man, with family, fortune, every thing in his favor, should think highly of himself. If I may so express it, he has a right to be proud."
I don't think the goal of the teachers is to totally destroy the self esteem of the students but to teach them that they can be proud of what they did but without them having a big head and see that they still have a long way to go and this is what Azz does, he is still proud but he never stopped pushing himself to improve, he had no reason like the others to reach rank 4 to stay the royal one like the others because he was already rank 4 from the beginning but he still trained a lot just like the rest.
He is always trying to improve himself, to get stronger and that's why in this test he is going to move up in rank, no matter what.

This piece goes with the [night scene] that I made before.
i keep thinking abt hiwatari's envy for daisuke and how every single hiwatari rper's mun has told me about how hiwatari is jealous of dark and daisuke being able to get along without daisuke being outright cannibalized and every single time. it strikes a weird note/off key with me bc like yeah dark and daisuke are more or less fine now, but it Used to be Really Bad, (dark's goading, the merging, i appreciate the first LN soooo much for giving so many scenes and wonderful descriptions of daisuke just being utterly terrified and suffocated by dark's newfound presence in his life,) and even if it's soooo much better now it's still Kind Of Bad. at least esp with my portrayal dark as a curse still gets in the way of daisuke's loves, that's his whole thing. dark himself can admit to cursing and terrorizing and 'stealing away' daisuke's life. he literally does in canon. even if i write daisuke at a point where he can, given the right space, simultaneously admit to being dark and finds a comfort in the fact, there's still the way dark's presence haunts him around people he doesn't want to (or otherwise feels he can't) admit anything to. it might not be in the same exact way as hiwatari and krad, what with krad destroying anything important to satoshi, but it's still a form of isolation and loneliness that daisuke has to endure. while daisuke can't imagine living a life like a hikari's and having to reject everything away from yourself, it's because the life of a niwa is one where others potentially reject you. 'i'll be hated? i'll hurt someone? i'll be hurt?' if not the layer of initial change and transformation (a la accepting dark,) then daisuke's concerns are always centered around these kinds of fears.
