Are You a Magnificent Sunbeam? - Part One: Negatives
We might think ourselves bad. We might think ourselves good. We’d very much like to be good. We aspire to be magnificent sunbeams.
But are we? Thanks to the amazingly accurate test below we can find out.
An amazing sunbeam will have very few negative traits.
1) Have committed a murder? Give yourself 1 point for each one, Be honest, you get a point for each murder, whether convicted or not. If you…

anyone can make a zine, regardless of skill level or access to materials or design programs. all you need is paper, scissors and drawing utensils (although many people enjoy collaging!) web search "8 page 1 sheet zine how to".
everyone SHOULD make a zine too, you will feel so good about it ♡ it's about putting the power of production into the hands of the people! also you don't have to sell it or anything, you can just make one for yourself or trade/give some to friends!
i really love julia grofrer's guide to analogue self publishing aka making zines on 8.5x11 paper
and jaydragon/jdragsky's thread on staple's self serve print centres (if you're area does not have a local print shop, they probably have a staples or fedex print centre)
if you can't draw, here is twitter thread for public domain art and also a mini summary of when thing enter creative commons (generally 70 years after artist death in the US and CAD)
i also have a DIY zine page on my art blog that i am dedicated to updating as i find more resources! (not accessible through tumblr mobile app, mobile friendly, just open the link in a browser)
go make some zines!!!

Bookish Discussion: Library Fines
Bookish Discussion: Library Fines
Let’s talk library fines. A while ago, my local library did away with overdue fees, and it’s been nice not to be super stressed about turning in books on time (though I always try to!) So, is this a good thing? Should all libraries follow suit?
Part of the reason for library fees are to help the library operate. Things like overdue fines can lead to the library being able to acquire new books…

Me: hm, I want something to put on the TV as background noise... Huh. Looks like YouTube is recommending something called The Last Unicorn. That's perfect, it's probably some old shitty animation that has aged poorly! I can watch it ironically!
Me, 2 hours later as the credits roll: *crying, cheering, buying the book, composing the songs*
Me, 2 weeks later: So I have compiled all of the quotes from the book that I think could make good tattoos, and also, HOW HAVE I NEVER LEARNED ABOUT HOW THE LAST UNICORN FUCKING SLAPS??? This gay-ass little fairytale fed my soul! Watered my crops! Transed my gender! Can't believe I heard of this story from youtube recommendations, of all places!!

Going to library to study see crush.
Guilty peeps raise your hands!! 😂🤣
For prompt "Library" from @dailytwiyorprompts
The books on first panel are ones that I've read 😆😆. Are you familiar with these titles? My favorites are Pride and Prejudice and d'Artagnan romances ( 3 musketeers - ten years later). Most of these books, I've read them by downloading pdfs from Project Gutenberg. If you can't get your hands on physical copies, I strongly recommend this website.
As for the Jane Austen book that Loid is reading, it's the one that's been waiting for me for a very long time. I bought a copy about a year ago and still haven't read it 🥲😅😅
I'll reblog this later with complete review of the books through my main blog 😉 hope this made you smile.
Ps.: This really looked like something straight out from kdrama 😂🤣. Kdramas make good inspiration and reference for me 😂😂

kevin mcallister gets criticized for his choices so much but like. home alone does such a good job to lay out why he doesn’t do the obvious. the phone lines aren’t working, so he can’t call the police. and even if he could, he wouldn’t, because the movie clearly establishes that he fears the police due to having gotten caught shoplifting and being chased down by a cop (additionally, we as the audience are shown the police’s incompetence and unwillingness to help). he doesn’t get help from his neighbors because none of them are home, and the one neighbor he knows is busy dealing with his own issues. this movie does nothing but lay out chekov’s gun yet every year i see the worst lest media literate takes imaginable. c’mon guys.

Library fines
The last few years has seen a stream of libraries removing fines. Services report that fines create a barrier to using libraries, particularly for poorer users. They also have a negative impact on the return of items, as users and books don’t return to libraries when fines become too much.
Libraries Connected recently released a report on library fines. This captured the thoughts of service…
