BOOK REVIEW 🔥 I honestly don’t know how to give this book justice. I don’t even know what to feel after reading the book. The chapters are compact, often short but straight to the point. The book is longer than what I would typically read but there’s no waste of time in this book. Everything was relevant. Everything was an investment towards the ending. I didn’t like the end because I want all the best for Liesel after what she went through and I want Rudy to succeed and reach his dreams. He's my favorite character, that saukerl. I love their friendship, their banter, them being always available when the other needs help and my favorite part of the book is when they traded sucks between one candy, 10 sucks each. I know the wording is weird but it’s how it’s written in the book. But I can’t say the ending didn’t fit the book because it did and I believe that everything happens for a reason, especially in fictional settings. While reading, I find myself smiling, even laughing in the middle of the night because of these two! And then there were times I found myself sad because the book is a mixture of funny and sad moments. But I cried in the end. I would normally hate spoilers but the book is full of spoilers and I think that’s part of what makes it page turning. There were chapters when you thought it’s the ending that you were waiting to read about then finding out that it wasn’t, and it makes you turn the page to the next chapter. Also I haven’t read a book told from Death’s perspective. There are a lot of rhetorical questions (coming for Death itself) that urge a lot of ideas to surface in the reader’s mind. My only regret in this book is not reading it sooner. ✨ Hello Bookies - Have you read anything by Markus Zusak? . . 🫖 I’ve read a few books by this author but nothing made me feel like “The Book Thief”. This book was beautiful, caught my heart and left me crying and I would do it all again. It’s about a little girl in Nazi Germany during the war, who comes to a foster family. She tries to make the best of the situation with her love for books and words. When her foster family hides a Jew in their basement things are getting even more difficult. I would recommend this book to everyone! I still have to point out that it’s about Holocaust and World War II, so pay attention to trigger warnings. The story is beautifully written, its characters are very realistic and it sometimes even made me laugh. É impossível não se apaixonar por Liesel, Rudy, Tommy Müller e demais moradores da Rua Himel, sejam as crianças ou adultos. Todas as histórias sobre a 2°Guerra Mundial, contada sob a perspectiva de crianças ou próximos a elas, trazem essa sensibilidade da inocência perdida precocente (vide "O Menino do Pijama Listrado", "A Vida é Bela, etc.) Só me questiono do porque ter demorado tanto para ter e ler esse livro.
