These people are elected officals, and who are responsible for setting government policy, and they are openly citing extremist right wing, Neo-Nazi and white supremacist rhetoric IN PUBLIC in the UK RIGHT NOW!!! This is where we are as a country people! And more importantly, this is a conference which has been organised by an American right wing think tank. All these anti-trans and anti-LGBTQIA+ laws in the US are just an experiment before they try and export their hate. It’s no good looking at all these fascistic and discriminatory laws coming out of the US and saying ‘oh that couldn’t happen here.’

Today has been a weird one emotionally. Started off day 7 of no broadband (engineers on strike and relying on unreliable Wi-Fi hotspots) with above average aches/pains and below average mood. Shaping up to be a forgettable birthday spent mainly alone, before the big news broke. Felt a little overwhelmed by the strong mixed responses, and the very credible suggestions that the Tories will exploit the situation to backdoor some right-wing policies while spending the money that was supposed to prevent the poor freezing to death this winter. That lead to intrusive thoughts about my mum's mortality, and strong melancholy when my (wisely offline) music playlist got to Stary Oslsa's cover of Wake me up when September ends.

I'm a visual learner, the more I read it the better it is, but also a note taker.. the reading\writing just cements it all in nicely. The hard part I suppose is that it takes longer than some other people? But I've always known the best way to learn for myself and I test well, so thats lucky 🤓

I'm sure @becausegoodheroesdeservekidneys will cover this in due course as well, but after SOOO MANY long and bitter years, it seems like someone has FINALLY turned on the light at the end of the tunnel.

Yesterday was the day that local elections happen here in the UK and whilst only half of the results have been declared so far its still been a complete shitshow for the tories so far. They've lost over 130 councillors and control of 6 local councils (including Wandsworth, Barnet and Westminster, which they've held for decades to Labour) and it looks like they're getting ready to go after big dog himself.

Now this by any stretch of the imagination can't be considered a cut and dried success for Labour (who have taken a good 2/3rds of the seats the tories have lost so far) but its another MASSIVE nail in the coffin for BoJo as it shows which way the wind is blowing (social media has been full of people showing election leaflets where tory candidates have been trying to distance themselves from Johnson and his cronies) and it's going to give plenty of MPs the impetus to try and force him out in an effort to cut their losses
