i want every single white piece of shit on that post calling people fascists or misguided or privileged or stupid for not voting for biden to look a palestinian person whose entire family got killed by biden in the eyes and tell them you think they should vote for biden. tell them you think they're privileged for not voting for biden. look them in the eyes and condescend to them about how much danger they clearly don’t know they’re in.
don't actually do that. don't actually ever speak to a fucking brown person lmao. eat shit actually.
i want every single one of you genocidal freaks to think for two seconds about why you think it's acceptable to tell brown people to vote for the man committing genocide on their fucking families. to tell disabled people to vote for the man committing eugenics based genocide on them at home via covid. (you do realize the largest amount of covid protection rollbacks occurred during biden's presidency right? you do realize a thousand people a week are CURRENTLY dying from covid?)
using the threat of our rights being taken away as a cudgel against Black and Brown and disabled ppl as if the biden admin hasn’t overseen more covid deaths than the trump admin, massive attacks on immigration rights (including the recent immigration proposal increasing mandatory detention and allowing mass deportations), massive attacks on reproductive rights (they knew abt roe v wade for WEEKS. we can bypass congress for genocide & for worsening immigration rights but we can't do anything about abortion?), as if we aren't looking at the current highest levels of homelessness since 2007. and all of that on top of the fact that joe shitstain biden is LITERALLY COMMITTING GENOCIDE.
the audacity. the absolute audacity. of this white bitch going ""vote for them: the most marginalized, the most vulnerable"" BIDEN IS KILLING "THEM." BIDEN IS KILLING US. How dare you speak for us? biden's complete rollback of covid protections have killed more people than trump. biden's admin has utterly abandoned disabled people to die. he is committing a eugenicist genocide against all disabled and immunocompromised people. he is committing a genocide against palestinians. the audacity to call those people "privileged" for refusing to enable THEIR OWN GENOCIDES.
"boohoo we have no choice but to vote for the genocidal fascist or else there'll be fascism!!!" you dumb fuckers we are already living in a fascist state. you don't care about stopping fascism. you don't care about stopping genocide. you care about fascism and genocide not hurting you. if spineless liberals and dems want so badly to beat trump they should put forward a candidate who hasn’t alienated the voter base that let them win the last time, not the candidate that barely won four years ago before reneging on his promises (student loans, environmentalism, etc), killing half a million people from covid, and killing 20,000+ more via colonial genocide.
to every dumbass in those notes going “uwu he isn’t perfect uwu he isn’t my first choice uwu we can't let ~disagreements~ get in the way uwu voting is like public transport <3 voting is like a group project”: ten thousand children are dead. ten thousand children are dead. ten thousand children are dead. biden killed ten thousand children. what the fuck is wrong with you.
i hope you all rot.

Wear a mask please, I'm already sick enough and I want to avoid dying at 22. If I end up dying from collective irresponsibility I'll be very pissed.
It's really serious, please wear a mask and protect yourself and the most vulnerable people.

I wonder if those people who use statistics (very likely only based in America) to "prove" how "bad" Gen Z is (read: dump on our generation, as they like to do) take the COVID-19 pandemic into account. Because idk abt u guys but that crap messed me up and I don't think I'll ever be the same

Avoid COVID Reinfections
"But there is also growing evidence that in some people, getting COVID-19 the first time may compromise the immune response in a way that makes the body less likely to respond effectively the next time it sees the virus. That could leave certain organs and body systems, such as the brain, weaker for months after infection—and subsequent ones."
“Each time you get hit, it does impact your body, so let’s try not to get it too many times,” says Smith."
"Data also continue to show that even vaccinated people can get Long COVID—although the risk may be lower—since the protection provided by vaccines wanes over time, just as it does from infections. Vaccines are therefore a strong but not absolute barrier to the virus."
"In the meantime, Smith says it’s important for people to understand that they still need to do everything they can to avoid getting COVID-19. That means staying up to date with vaccinations and taking some basic precautions, such as wearing high-quality masks indoors when cases are high, especially in crowded places and on public transportation"

It has been One Of Those Days.
I spent a good chunk of the morning at the vet getting some potentially scary lumps on Sadie checked out. They ended up being regular lumps (sebaceous cysts, perfectly harmless and honestly normal for Sheps) and I was SO relieved and ready to ditch that stress and finally be able to enjoy the holiday -
And then my mom called over lunch to say she tested positive for COVID today.
So now I get to decide if I'm going to travel and just stay with a friend and minimize the time I spend with the family, or (more likely) cancel travel plans for the holiday entirely.
Because I have to work, and I have to take care of myself and Sadie, and I have to deal with travel plans for work in the new year, and I cannot afford to get knocked on my ass for a week or more - and that's before you even consider Long COVID or other health complications.
I absolutely hate this.

Life expectancy in the U.S. fell in 2021, for the second year in a row. It was the biggest drop in almost 100 years.
In 2019, someone born in the U.S. had a life expectancy of 79 years. In 202o, because of the pandemic, that dropped to 77 years. In 2021 life-span dropped again — to 76.1 years. And for some Americans, life expectancy is even lower, according to a provisional analysis from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
[...]
Other high-income countries have seen a rebound in life expectancy, which Woolf says makes the U.S. results, "all the more tragic."
One of the most dramatic drops in life expectancy in 2021 was among American Indian and Alaskan Native people.
Between 2020 and 2021 the life expectancy for this group fell by almost two years, from 67.1 in 2020 to 65.2 in 2021.

genuinely so angry and scared im shaking. how many other times this week this month this year have i been exposed without knowing it. do people even tell each other anymore. it’s just so grim. it’s so fucking grim
#purrs#delete later#covid19#i am fighting for my fucking life every day to stay safe and to keep the people around me some of whom are disabled / chronically ill /#immunocompromised / medically vulnerable safe. i am fucking fighting for my life. it’s already hard that i am usually one of two people in#any given room still wearing a mask let alone an n95 mask. hard and bad enough that we get looks for wearing masks and people think im crazy#for my life still being on hold and for my family still basically never going anywhere. ITS FUCKING WORSE that we are still very much in the#throes of all of it and we are in constant physical and quite frankly EXISTENTIAL danger not only of getting sick / becoming (more)#disabled / literally fucking dying but also returning to the absolute hell of lockdown which while important was psychologically damaging in#ways that are difficult to even articulate. like not only have we as a society decided to not give a shit about unpacking all of that and#healing from the trauma and assuming everyone went through the same thing when we very much did not and to just send everybody back to#school and work because 🤑🤑🤑🤑🤑capitalism🤑🤑🤑🤑🤑 but we have ALSO decided to pretend like the freakish unceasing danger just doesn’t exist#anymore and to get rid of every tool we had available to keep us safe or at minimum make people have to pay exorbitant amounts of money to#access them because 🤑🤑🤑🤑🤑capitalism🤑🤑🤑🤑🤑 !!!!!!! im TIRED. im so fucking tired of it. i am so fucking exhausted and angry and scared. and i#HAVE the luxury and privilege of being able to afford n95 masks and covid tests and to be able to work a job that i can do remotely if i#need to and to not be disabled or immunocompromised. what makes me fucking furious is we decided to throw all the people who don’t have#that access or privilege under the fucking bus and forget about them lol. but what do you expect from a country rotten to its core the way#it is lol. im fucking despondent. why are we living in an incinerator.#* the lockdown(s) werent just important they were necessary. and arguably we should have another one even though if we do i genuinely fear#for my mental health both during and afterwards and quite frankly before. im tired. i am grateful for the life i live which has resulted in#part from the different things that have happened because of the pandemic but i also so desperately wish this never happened and every day I#think about what life would be like if it hadn’t happened. the grief of it all is unspeakably big.

By Stephen Millies
“Americans are dying younger, saving corporations billions,” ran an Aug. 8, 2017, Bloomberg headline. It continued: “Life expectancy gains have stalled. The grim silver lining? Lower pension costs.” That was over two years before the COVID-19 pandemic killed 6.6 million people worldwide. In the United States—where over a million people have died of the coronavirus — average life expectancy dropped by almost three years. It fell from 78.8 years in 2019 to 76.1 years in 2021.

It's been a while since I posted anything which isn't a reblog. Likes and reblogs are easier.
For those who are have asks waiting in my inbox, I'm sorry. I'm a kindergarten teacher for 1-6y olds, but I got Covid19 at the end of October (2023), and then it continued with post-Covid. At the writing moment (6/2-2024) I'm still sick. I'm still not okay. Some days are better, and many are worse, but I started going back to work at 25% last week to help my head - and even THAT little is becoming too much.
I will likely have to ask my doctor to let me go back to 100% sick leave at home again, and it feels... Right now I feel fucking awful about it. I miss work. I miss the kids in class. I'm so tired of being sick. But I just can't.
If I have a better day these upcoming weeks I'll try to answer some of the asks, but I can't promise of when that will be. I'm just... I'm just tired. I'm trying to get better, but I'm just so fucking tired.
I promise I'm doing my best though, and I'll see ye' all when I have a better day again. ♥ Take care everyone.

The pandemic is getting out of control. I've come down with covid-19 yet again.
My whole house is sick, everyone is infected.
What is even more frustrating is that according to the government, covid-19 is no longer a problem. Which is a bunch of BS. 😑 So therefore my job won't pay me while I'm out again.
What are they expecting people to do? I just came back to work. I've been back a week and a half. I've only had time to earn for one paycheck. I haven't been paid in so long already. Now I'm going to be out again.
I'm beyond frustrated and stressed at this point. I'm immune compromised. My immune system doesn't tolerate covid-19 well. I'm out longer than what the government says you should be out for. Which I'm sure irritates my employer.
I'm chronically ill, I only go to work because disability has been giving me a hard time and I have yet to make my dream of social media provide me with any sort of income.
Despite work killing me faster, we live in a capitalist country and it's killing disabled people like me. And the United States Government is failing its people when it comes to the pandemic.
I'm really lost at what to do. And I'm having to worry about all this when I'm supposed to be getting better. I'm becoming very depressed again.

About to get on the train when an older lady who was probably in her 70s saw me prepping my N95 and sidled over to ask if I had a spare, since she forgot hers at home. She even offered to pay me for it! Fortunately I have a spare cloth mask I keep around to wear at work -- it's not as good as the N95 of course, but it's triple layered with a filter insert -- so I just gave the other mask to her.
Note to self: carry spares.

In a situation right now where I’m mad at myself, mad at my sister, mad at my mom, mad at The State of Michigan, mad at The CDC, & mad at every person who doesn’t mask when they’re indoors somewhere outside of their own home.

got covid for the second time :_(
It sucks because I kind of think it's my fault for not wearing a mask to the big company event on friday I had to be at. There were like 400 people there and I usually I don't care if anyone else masks or not (I've been harassed about it in public and that didn't stop me) but because it's a new job and I wanted the new team to like me I was scared to be the odd man out. I would've been the only one there wearing a mask, apart from members of the service staff.
Now I can't go to back to work on monday.
