Originally I played Sky on the switch but moved to mobile because it was easier to control & text. I joined during the last few days of the Season of Aurora so I was able to experience the whole concert with like about 2500 other players. I didn’t know much about Sky at the time or what seasons were so I was so lucky to be there.
As I learned furthermore, I didn’t think there was going to be any other big social gatherings like that again. But the Days of Bloom changed that thought immediately as I got in. Here are some pictures I took being a butterfly 🦋.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I even got the Days of Bloom Guide & the Season of the Lightseekers spirits. Didn’t buy anything though, everything was so expensive.

Concept Art from Steam Next Fest!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
These are the pictures released! Under the cut, I’ll be adding them again with their individual captions!
Tumblr media
“Isle of Dawn concept. This area underwent numerous changes over time, but this was one early idea.”
Tumblr media
“Sketches from brainstorms for the Cave of Prophecies. This location opened in Isle of Dawn in a past Season, but the Prophecy Guide still invites courageous Sky kids to complete the trials that await there.”
Tumblr media
“Sky children meet Elders from each realm. Here, four of them meet the Prairie Elder and a flock of butterflies.”
Tumblr media
“Hidden Forest is known for its rain, but here and there the sun shines through.”
Tumblr media
“An idea for Valley of Triumph, with two gates offering different routes to players who pass through them.”
Tumblr media
“Before the Dark Crabs took their final shape, they had many forms in different concepts.”
Tumblr media
“In a game called “Sky,” it’s probably no surprise that some of our favorite concept art to share is pictures of Sky kids flying through the clouds…”
Tumblr media
“…Though there are some areas where that flight is a serious challenge.”
Tumblr media
“A sketch of several ideas related to Spirits who were introduced in Season of Lightseekers. Though the final designs look rather different, a hat and a couple of the capes ultimately kept their bioluminescent, orb-shaped tassels.”
Tumblr media
“As Sky children travel through the kingdom’s ruins, these objects are only some of the things that they must wonder about.”

Breaking news! Deadly darkness spirits got awoken and befriended by local kids.
Tumblr media
Familiars of darkness. Four dangerous gatekeepers of the underworld. Young shadows whose only function was to serve the darkness itself and kill anyone who tries to mess with it. They were highly respected among the Lightseekers. But it's not about them. Today, we talk about darkness.
Tumblr media
I loved season of Passage, and I wanted to draw something for it for a long time. And here we have more beings of the dark side. Angst created them to be the guards of the realm of darkness and keep away all the unworthy. It wasn't so bad at first. They just brought bad luck to ungrateful members of Lightseekers and guided good ones. Until it all got out of control. When people grew more and more greedy towards resources and more disrespectful towards realm of darkness, familiars started to kill. Remember all the mining incidents? It were these cute animals. Something you need to know before you say that you love them.
But what passage kids have to do with all of that? You see, after everyone died, there was no one to visit realm of darkness anymore. And so, no need for familiars to perform their function. And Angst decided to preserve them until realm of darkness will need them again. Familiars spent hundreds of years canned in the eternal darkness until one shaman from the surface, who has the strongest connection to the dark side, made four masks. To call for familiars, so they would protect their students.
And darkness listened. Like it always did to the shaman.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Familiars got awoken, thanks to us too. And they seem to get along well with kids from the surface. Good for them.

Alright THEORY TIMEEEEEE
I’m going to share my theory about how all the seasonal guides became what they are.
Oh, and I will be adding a seasonal guide everytime a new season comes, that being in reblogs or under the cut.
Gratitude:
regarding the masks, all of them seem to be experts on their own talent, and since all of them are experts, they all agreed to make deer mask the guide.
Lightseekers:
It’s the opposite case in here. All of them have simple masks, even the guide. So maybe they were still learning how to ponder the orb work with the light, and the guide was the leader of all the group, the one who started investigating the light.
Belonging:
They are just a very united family, and we see that only the adults have more decorated masks. Maybe Belonging grandma was a guide because she reunited the whole family.
Rhythm:
Hoot hoot was an apprentice, but maybe a good and charismatic person who changed the path the crew was getting into. They, despite having come recently to the group, gained a place in everyone’s hearts.
Enchantment:
I don’t really think the masks represent anything in here, but even if we didn’t see it, the guide might’ve also been the leader of the group. Maybe they helped the crew reinstall themselves after their ship crashed. Maybe they were a big part in making a progress in a barren land.
Sanctuary:
They were seen helping and spending time with each member of their crew. Maybe they were the one who had the idea of bringing back the creatures to the Sanctuary Islands. Maybe that initiative inspired the rest of the group, even the most moody of them all.
Prophecy:
All of them seem to have well-made masks, and that means everyone was an expert in reading and interpreting the prophecies shown. But maybe the Guide was also the first prophet, the one who taught the rest a long time ago.
Dreams:
This is a complicated one. The skater was the main character, she moved the world of all the spirits around her, and my theory is that she was about to be given the role of questguiver, but she gave it to her mother as a “thank you”.
Dreams mom did a lot of things for her daughter: she supported the skater with her dream, she raised her daughter healthily, and she gave them the Phoenix costume, which was the last step the skater needed to be on stage.
While the skater moved the spirit’s path, there was also someone helping her, and who holds a big place in her heart.
Assembly:
They were just a group of kids who created a scout group with a treehouse, they were not experts in anything, but maybe apprentices in building and wood-carving.
The assembly guide created the group, and as the leader, they painted the logo in their mask, while the others added their own creativity to their masks.
Little prince:
it’s simple, The Little Prince wanted to return to his planet to see his Rose, so he loves her, and while he is the main character, his care for the Rose is what makes her a guide.
Flight:
None of the spirits have masks, but since the guide was confirmed to be Ayin’s apprentice, I guess everyone there are beginners too, but instead of learning from the elder, they learnt from the guide.
Abyss:
It was seen in the concept art that she was the youngest and the Captain’s daughter, so I suppose that she gained some respect from being the daughter of the leader.
But also, she gained even more respect from the crew when she started to learn cartography. Now she joined with the rest of the spirits, and she draws and marks the way in the maps. The captain gives the mission, but she guides them to the place.
Performance:
A teacher who gained their place as an expert actor, and who started to teach a little group of beginner artists with different talents.
They taught with patience and gave a lot of support to their students when they felt like they couldn’t deal with it, that is exactly how a teacher gains the hearts of their apprentices!
Shattering:
I said that seasonal guides must’ve done something to be remembered by their group/population…. Well, the eden diamond certainly did a change in everyone’s lives. Of the ancestors as well as in our time.
Let’s remember the shards are permanent :)

Note
I’m curious about a few things.
1. Do your Sky OCs know about Prince Alef and King Resh?
2. What seasons/days were they born in?
3. What inspires you?
OOoo, alrighty. Get ready for a ramble (i apologize)
Do your Sky OCs know about Prince Alef and King Resh?
So I myself do not know much about Prince Alef and King Resh, heck I am confused on whether or not they were the same person. Therefore, this does affect my ocs in regards to the Prince and King. Regardless, most either know very little or nothing. Even though most of my ocs are reincarnations of an ancestor or past light creature.
Most information on the topic is only rumors or what little the murals and archive give. The spirits and elders do not give much input either as it is either vague answers or no response. It seems whatever they did made most not want to remember or think about it much. Zara and Altair have the highest chance of knowing more about the Prince and King than any of the others as one was a scholar in vault and the other a powerful light creature with connection to the megabird in their past life.
Opinions on the Prince and King from the boils down to 3 main answers: empathy for one and loath for the other, tragic/unfortunate souls, or nothing.
2. What seasons/days were they born in?
I can only give seasons or rough time frames on when they came as sky kids as I don't have dates yet.
Mana, Naos, and Iasma existed way before any season and later during the Sky kid era did they all gain a Sky kid form through some strange phenomenon. The rest are either natural born Sky kids or reincarnations. Now, season wise:
Mana = Gratitude, Zara = Lightseeker, Lance = Prophecy, Naos = Prophecy, Shiro = Dreams, Altair = Little Prince, Vera = Flight, Koro = Performance, Spector = Performance, Iasma = Shattering, and Rui = Aurora.
3. What inspires you?
I assume you mean my inspiration for the ocs aside from general inspiration. Most of my inspiration comes from fan theories of the Sky kingdom or concepts that were either offical or fan made. For example, the idea that sky kids are reincarnated ancestor children eventaully was added to my ocs lore. Uh...maybe a bit too much as only Vera and Spector are natural sky kids. I can't link or pinpoint specific sources so I suggest just looking up Sky lore speculation yourself as there is quite a bit for how rarely the game gives it or explains it.
One main inspiration is player diversity. Most of my ocs are either inspired by friends or kinds of players/experience one could have in the game. A few examples: Mana is a moth even though she is a vetern player; Naos is a crab lover and stacker; Iasma is one that loves to being near dark creatures and the darker areas of the realm; Shiro is a reference to bullied moths; Lance refers to those that are busy with irl life so are barely on; Zara being a fan on lore and wanting to help any; Altair being guide even when most of his friends are no longer around; Vera finding new glitches or creating new ways to have fun in the world; and so on.
Design wise, offical art work from current and old concepts. A few fan ideas from myself or others are sprinkled in, but most is offical inspiration. Tweaking in-game cosmetics or making new ones aids in separating my ocs from canon and gives more wiggle room to branch out.

How do I explain that I find the Performance Guide very gender and they just seem so charismatic overall and the fact that they’re Rhythm’s twin is so funny ‘cause they’re so much more extra in looks with the flair on their mask and it’s like a bird but also penguin. do you think they’re a penguin because the the Village of Dreams in the Valley of Triumph is like ice and snow so penguin
I’ve admitted once that I find the Season of Flight’s Lightseeker to be handsome too (from their promo art) Man I am not immune to these white-haired Sky fellas with their cool hairstyles and fun body languages
Ponytail…, do you think Performance’s hair is soft to touch…..

Lightseekers observation for Days of Bloom 2022
Laidback Pioneer and Twirling Champion are besties
Laidback Pioneer is very cute and asks us for headpats (even though we can't reach their head)
Despite having rather elegant looking cosmetics, Crab Whisperer is an absolute goofball; doing a bunch of scare emotes, messing with Lightseekers Guide and Bloom Guide, play fighting us.
Piggyback Lightseeker seems to interact with only Shushing Light Scholar before hanging out by themself near the entrance gate of the Forest. Introvert?
