When the Lightsinger Calls (I Hear a Symphony)
An Azriel Drabble
Azriel daydreams of his mate -Inspired by ‘I Hear a Symphony’ by Cody Fry
Tumblr media
I used to hear a simple song.
The warm winds of summer blew through the Illyrian mountains as Azriel sat sprawled on a thick branch fifty feet in the air, one leather covered leg dangling as the other stretched across the branch, his back resting against the trunk of an old Oak tree.
Cassian had been butting heads with Devlon for hours. Same shit, different day as they heatedly negotiated new terms for the training of Illyrian females. Devlon, of course, remained as stubborn as an ass. Even after decades of his bullshit, it never failed to chafe Azriel’s nerves that they were under the regime of the most powerful High Lord in Prythian’s history yet had to make nice with stuck-in-their-ways pricks like him. Today in particular had left Azriel feeling less than giving.
Cassian booted Azriel out of negotiations in record time, which admittedly, was likely for the best. Azriel’s dominant stance, deadly gaze, and violent whirling shadows were not best suited for these futile attempts of “sweet talking” Devlon out of his deeply rooted misogyny. If Azriel had his way Truth Teller would do all the talking, but diplomacy unfortunately took precedence.
He may have put up more of a fight when storming out of the Camp Lord’s office had Cassian’s weapon of choice today not had a unique way of toeing that line between diplomacy and force in a way that even Truth Teller could not. No blood spillage necessary, though, Azriel thought with a smirk, the weapon could do just that as well.
The warmth of the suns rays shining through the rustling leaves and the scratch of bark lightly grazing the sensitive membranes of his wings - hitting those spots he could never quite reach - had Azriel drifting off into a light dream state.
As he began to doze, shadows hummed around him, the whistling breeze mixing in with their whirring as they sensed for any incoming threats.
Blending in with their simple song, the creek nearby babbled with the sounds of trickling water, crickets chirped beneath rocks below.
His thoughts became more vivid as his conscience drifted deeper into sleep.
His jaw ticked, wings jerking slightly as he dreamed glimpses of deep red coating his marred skin from the countless souls he’d drawn blood from, lifeless bodies scattered across bloody battlefields, dark cells, the bright flare of roaring fire scalding a child’s hands, his shadows melody becoming broken as they attempted to soothe their master.
The melody became lighter as the flame in his dreams became flashes of light, blurred glimpses of a lovely face appearing in and out of his dreams. A soft laugh intertwined itself with his shadows, the solemn hymn becoming lighter, with vibrant bursts of energy leaving his heart fluttering. More images of the ethereal face flickered through his mind, soft blush dusted cheeks, a radiant white smile, supple fingers tracing the muscles of his chest, plush lips on bare skin, all appearing to the beat of the rising staccato. His lips quirked upward in his sleep as his guard dropped lower and lower and the melody continued growing louder, building into the crescendo of the loveliest symphony he’d heard yet, even in Prythian’s most renowned concert halls.
The music filled Azriel’s entire being, leaving him light as shadow, his flaws forging themselves from ugly into something beautiful, something worthy, as the melody carried his soul toward the light.
Just as his body began to slump out of the tree a sing-song voice brighter than day awoke him. “Careful, Shadowsinger. One might think you’re sleeping on the job.”
He looked down to his beautiful mate, the face his dream had called him to. “My little Lightsinger, did you give Devlon hell?”
She beamed. “Worked a little on him. The girls get seven more hours per week and Cass or I can do spot checks whenever we please. I’ll push for more when we meet again in a few months.”
“That’s my girl.” His eyes shone with the pride filling his chest as he launched out of the tree and swept her off her feet.
“Let’s go home.” She whispered, pressing a kiss to his nose. Azriel only blushed and did just as his lady said, the two falling into companionable silence as her light and his shadow mingled in harmony the entire flight back to Velaris.
And now I hear a symphony.

The Cauldron and its far reaching threads; who is susceptible to the puppet master, and how might it work?
Tumblr media
Disclaimer: this is a massive crack theory that I have held off posting since June 2022, but fuck it I guess, let's go! This is not a shipping post.
As usual, I am absolutely NOT suggesting that anyone who is influenced by the Cauldron is inherently evil in any way. This is just a crack theory. If you can't interact respectfully, then please keep scrolling.
Spoilers: ACOTAR series to date, and massive character spoilers for River Song and the Ponds from Doctor Who (if you care about that) in part 2.
Part 1 - Cauldron Made Beings
This first section will be stating some of the obvious, as we know, per Amren in ACOSF, that Cauldron-Made beings are able to be influenced by the Cauldron, though the “how” is not yet clear. @wingedblooms has theorised extensively about the living bond that Elain Archeron may share with the Mother's crockpot, and I suspect that this bond may also tie (terrible pun, sorry) into how the Cauldron can exert control: by pulling the “bond” threads that connect it to its former inhabitants.
Cassian’s breath caught in his throat. “It was a fluke, Amren. Nesta didn’t make it on purpose.” Amren shook her head, hair swaying. “Nothing is a fluke. The Cauldron’s power flows through Nesta, and could use her as a puppet without her knowledge. It wanted those weapons Made, and thus they were Made. It wanted Rhysand to have them and thus the blacksmith brought them to you. - ACOSF, chapter 42
Finding the link would be basically impossible at this point, but I've previously mentioned that I wonder if the Cauldron's dark maker could be Koschei, or another death god/Daglan. To briefly rehash my thoughts: if there is a dark maker, it stands to reason there be a light maker, too… is it the Mother? Could Koschei be the dark mother that the Naga referred to in ACOTAR, as the terms “mother” and “maker” could demonstrate in-universe evolution of the same word? I've also previously theorised that Koschei may have been controlling the Cauldron through the King of Hybern/vice versa, and that is how the Elucien bond came to be, but this is not a shipping post, sorry!
As a quick aside, the above passage also makes me wonder if the Cauldron, or one of its hypothetical makers, wanted the Archeron sisters Made - it's something I've meant to post about, but I think Koschei has had a hand in things since Papa Archeron’s ship was lost at sea, at the very least. They are each a weapon in their own right, as Amren went on to state their powers match Rhys’ own. I know @nikethestatue has had similar thoughts. But I digress.
Look at the use of “bird in a cage” in the following passage, used to describe Nesta, which parallels nicely with Thesan’s use of decorative birds in cages as spies to listen in (thank you so much to @ladynightcourt3 for the first quote).
The amusement only grew, and Helion pushed a finger against his lips in mock warning. “Careful, High Lady. Even the birds report to Thesan here.” I frowned at the birds in cages throughout the room, still silent in Azriel’s shadowy presence. I threw shields around them, Rhys said down the bond. - ACOWAR, chapter 47
“Like calls to like,” Amren countered. “You were Made by the Cauldron. You may track other objects Made by it as well, as Briallyn can. And because you are Made by it, you are immune to the influence and power of the Trove. You might use them, yes, but they cannot be used upon you.” A glance to Elain. “Either of you.” Nesta swallowed. “I can’t.” But to let Elain involve herself, jeopardize her safety— Amren said, “You tracked the Cauldron—” “It nearly killed me. It trapped me like a bird in a cage.” Elain said, “Then I will find it. I might require some time to … reacquaint myself with my powers, but I could start today.” “Absolutely not,” Nesta spat, fingers curling at her sides. “Absolutely not.” - ACOSF, chapter 21
I think Nesta briefly (I hope, though who knows) became a puppet/shell for the Cauldron's puppet master - perhaps a death god such as Koschei, if @fawnandshadows is correct that he bastardised the Cauldron in some way, millennia ago (I think she's onto something) - and that's who we were seeing when she locked herself into her mind while scrying in ACOSF.
“Get her out, Rhys,” Cassian demanded. “Get her out now.” “I can’t,” he said softly, his power a cloak of stars and night around him. “I— The doors to her mind were open the other night. They’re shut now.” “She doesn’t want it seeing her. Or us,” Feyre said, her face tight. “She’s locked it out, but also locked herself in.” Cassian’s stomach twisted. “Nesta,” he said into her ear. “Nesta, open your hand and come back.” Her breathing sharpened. The cold deepened. “Nesta,” he snarled— And the cold halted. It didn’t vanish, but rather … stopped. Nesta’s eyes flicked open. Silver fire burned within. Nothing Fae looked out through them. Rhys shoved Feyre behind him. She shoved her way back to his side. But Nesta’s hand continued to squeeze Cassian’s. He squeezed back, let his Siphons send a bite of power into her skin. She turned her head so slowly it was like watching a puppet move. Her eyes met his. Death watched him. - ACOSF, chapter 31
I think a similar situation - though more high stakes/urgent - could come to play in Elain's book.
Elain is a Seer with mystical powers that are potentially tied to the Void.
She may try to See through mist and shadow, and accidentally make herself known to Koschei or another death god/Daglan?
In ACOSF, Nesta warned her to “stay away from the Cauldron,” and even Azriel suggested there was a darkness to the Dread Trove that “Elain should not be exposed to.” This, of course, makes many of us think that Elain will go after the Cauldron in her own book.
Could Elain mistakenly Look too far and open herself up to the Cauldron's living bond? That being said, it could simultaneously be using at least Jurian and Amren as well, and we have no idea if Made Fae who haven't been inside the Cauldron, such as Feyre and Miryam, are equally susceptible.
Part 2 - Not Made, yet possibly susceptible
I have been wondering for a while if the Cauldron can somehow form bonds, or weave threads, between itself and anyone exposed to it - or a part of it, when it was separated and hidden in different locations - for extended periods of time, or perhaps crucial ages, like somebody's formative years?
His mouth tightened, and he swallowed once before he said, “Hybern was looking for the Cauldron back then—for the pieces of its feet. One was hidden at the temple in Sangravah, its power used to fuel its priestesses’ gifts for millennia. - ACOSF, chapter 14
What if Gwyn - or anyone else - who grew up in Sangravah, a temple that housed one leg of the Cauldron, internalised some of the magic (sort of along the lines of River Song having regenerative abilities because Amy Pond fell/was pregnant while travelling on the TARDIS, and everything that happened after she was born - being taken away)?
All the High Priestesses wore the billowing, artfully twisted and layered robes—though they certainly were far from matronly. Ianthe’s slim waist was on display with a fine belt of sky-blue, limpid stones, each perfectly oval and held in shining silver. And atop her hood sat a matching circlet—a delicate band of silver, with a large stone at its center. A panel of cloth had been folded up beneath the circlet, a built-in swath meant to be pulled over the brow and eyes when she needed to pray, beseech the Cauldron and Mother, or just think. Ianthe had shown me once what the panel looked like when down: only her nose and full, sensuous mouth visible. The Voice of the Cauldron. I’d found the image unsettling—that merely covering the upper part of her face had somehow turned the bright, cunning female into an effigy, into something Other. - ACOMAF, chapter 2
@wingedblooms has suggested that priestesses could be influenced in general because they worship the triple goddess/divine trio, which follows along with what Feyre hinted at when thinking about Ianthe, all the way back in ACOMAF; that they opened themselves up to the divine during their services (in a similar way to how I imagine Elain's Sight may function). That being said, it's hard to say whether the priestesses at Cesere, Sangravah and Itica are more susceptible than their colleagues from other temples due to their prolonged proximity to the Cauldron’s feet, but I suspect it might be the case.
Could they have a deeper connection, or a bond of sorts?
One that remains even when they aren't communing with the Mother or the Cauldron?
One that may be accessed by the Cauldron or its Maker, for such nefarious purposes as letting in enemies to a library sanctuary?
Gwyn is likely already a lightsinger - please see @silverlinedeyes and @merymoonbeam for some brilliant posts that cover the basics of the theory and then some here, here, here, here and here - but if not, or maybe in addition to that, what if she was "Made-adjacent," and so also able to be used as a "puppet" by the Cauldron/the being controlling it, and thus any threads it may share with others? If accurate, this would work for anyone who was born, grew up, and/or lived for a long time in Sangravah, Cesere or Itica. To clarify, I don't think that these priestesses could call to or search for the the Cauldron, as they are likely not true “kin” - as, say, the Archeron sisters are to other Made items - but I could always be wrong about that. Or is this what lightsingers truly are?
Alternatively, what if every Singer (shadowsinger*, lightsinger, or any other type) was capable of the silent song, or had Made/Starborn powers in a way, and/or could be used as a "puppet" by the Cauldron or its master/maker? It would explain how Azriel's shadows could be used by someone else, maybe Koschei, thanks to the hypothetical living bond between the Cauldron and Made beings? So Nesta, Azriel (whose shadows are potentially Made, if not himself), Elain, Feyre, Amren, Miryam, Jurian, Gwyn and a whole lot of priestesses besides...
Too crazy? Probably, but that's why theorising is fun!
TOG SPOILERS BELOW
* Another theory I know I share with others, but at least @ladynightcourt3 and @psychologynerd, is that Azriel's shadows could be Valg. What if Valg have a living bond back to their respectful Valg King? If @fawnandshadows is correct that Koschei/death gods twisted the Cauldron, could this be how? Valg magic?

Here’s the thing about lightsingers and evilness. SJMs theme across all of her series is that the magic isn’t what makes you evil, it’s how you choose to wield it. Fire can either be Aelin’s or Beron’s. Darkness can be Erawan’s or Rhys’s. Hybern isn’t the bad guy because he has a particular kind of magic, he’s the bad guy because he’s a slaving, conquering autocrat. Rhys, Feyre, Bryce, and Ruhn all wield starlight to various degrees. So do the freaking Asteri.
SJM abhors faerie “racism.” Every time someone says something bigoted, you know they’re either the bad guy or they’re about to get proven wrong. Derogatory attitudes towards “lesser fae” are backwards. People who call the Illyrians animals or brutes are in the wrong. The Court of Nightmares values High Fae purity, not a ringing endorsement of that idea.
Feyre’s most powerful allies have been creatures who have been completely written off because of their magic. The Suriel. The water wraiths. The Bone Carver. Briaxis. The Weaver. Nesta was feared even by her family and allies because her magic was revealed to be Death, and what did she do with it? Only save the lives of the entire ruling family.
Gwyn may or may not have anything to do with lightsingers and their magic. The point is that you aren’t destined to be evil in these books because of the magic you have. You choose how to live your life.

I am absolutely convinced that Gwyn is a lightsinger, its right there! The whole reason shes in the bonus chapter is to show how her powers effect Azriel, Elain gave Azriel earplugs for a reason!….Nesta was clearly influenced by Gwyn too.
Its said they appear as friendly faces when their prey is lost! Azriel felt lost mentally after being warned off Elain!
What I can’t decide is if shes truly evil or if she is being used by someone. Kind of hope shes not evil for Nesta’s sake but it would be an interesting turn of events thats for sure. Cause her turning evil and betraying the inner circle wouldn’t be as devastating as if one of the IC turns evil.
Saw a video on tiktok about a potential sleeping beauty arc for elriel plus someone mentioning that sleep is a big word in the bonus chapter too, it mentions several times that Az has trouble sleeping. I WOULD BET MONEY HE IS PUT INTO A SLEEP.
I swear I read somewhere that SJM hinted at someones betrayal in an interview…do I remember that right?? Or am I misremembering?
Have I officially lost my mind? LOL

Gwyn and the Lightsinger Theory
I've seen it floating around about Gwyn possibly being a lightsinger.
Now, I don't personally believe she is one. Mainly because this is what we got about them and Gwyn just doesn't fit the description. Even when her powers are coming out in ACOSF.
Tumblr media
But if it comes out that her lineage has lightsinger in it, or that her singing power is related to lightsingers somehow, it still won't be enough to keep her from being with Azriel.
In fact, I'd dare say Gwyn being a Lightsinger would be the perfect counterpart to Azriel being a Shadowsinger. I mean come on Light/Shadow and they both happen to also sing!
It would also give them something more in common.
Azriel hates being Illyrian and struggles with that part of himself. Gwyn would more than likely have negative thoughts about being a lightsinger given the brief part we got about them and probably struggle to accept that part of herself. They both would have that journey to learning to accept those parts of themselves, and they could reassure each other to because Azriel isn't bad for being an Illyrian and we all know Gwyn isn't going to be an "evil" lightsinger.

Lightsinger Definition in ACOSF:
A kind of faerie said to inhabit the Bog of Oorid who kills mortals and faerie. Etheral beings who will lure their prey to them by song. Appearing as friendly faces when their prey is lost. Only when their prey were in their arms would their true faces emerge. They are not fair and the horror of it was the last thing the prey sees before they are drowned in the bog. Unlike other races, they kill only for sport, not food.

Maybe a controversial opinion but when Gwyn asks Azriel if he can sing because he’s called a shadowsinger, I don’t think it was to confirm he can sing. Or at least that wasn’t the only reason. I think it was more a callback to lightsingers.
Because when I first saw that word “lightsinger” in ACOSF, my mind immediately went to shadowsinger. And I think that by having Gwyn ask if he sings because he’s called a shadowsinger (and Gwyn is a character who we know based on Nesta’s chapter when she heard her sing, kept referring to light and luring imagery when she heard her voice)…I think Sarah was hoping readers who read the bonus and would make the connection again.
It’s difficult to see the words shadowsinger and lightsinger and not make a connection between them. So I don’t think Gwyn asking Azriel if he can sing was supposed to be some cute moment where she gets him to open up. I think it was a way to establish that he is a a “singer” of some kind and perhaps singing is a way that he manipulates and controls things like his shadows. And if a shadowsinger sings, then it stands to reason that lightsingers sing as well. And what things do they use their voice to control and manipulate?
Again, the fact that it was Gwyn asking this question I don’t think is a coincidence. Not when we have an entire chapter with these quotes:
“She’d never heard such music. Like a spell, a dream given form.”
“Something beckoned in Gwyn’s song, in a way the others’ hadn’t. Like Gwyn was calling only to her, her voice full of sunshine and joy…”
Gwyn’s voice rose again, holding such a high note it was like a ray of pure light, piercing and summoning.
Gwyn’s voice soared like a bird through the cavern as she started the third song with a solo, and Nesta closed her eyes, leaning into the music,
A voice that is piercing, and summoning, and like a spell, and rises above all others…it certainly sounds like someone who could be a lightsinger, whose description bears a close resemblance to sirens who in mythology used their voices to lure people. Someone who has power that is connected to her voice in the way that a shadowsinger’s power and ability to control and manipulate shadows might be connected to their voice.
(As always, I’m not saying Gwyn is evil if she is a lightsinger. I’m just pointing out the parallels between lightsingers, sirens, and the description of Gwyn’s singing in Nesta’s chapter to explain what was happening in the bonus because I don’t think it was meant to be romantic)

What’s your favorite obscure acotar theory? One that’s lesser known or not as hyped as others that you really enjoy or really hope will play out in the next book?
Firstly anon, I'm sorry this took me well over a week!
Spoilers: ACOTAR, CC and TOG series to date, mostly discussing witches.
This is a personal crack theory that I've had for more than a year now, which I haven't - as far as I can remember - mentioned publicly before, because it goes off more "the vibe of the thing, your honour" than solid evidence that I've seen in the text (at this point I've lost the motivation to research for new, giant metas, so this is apparently how you'll get it).
What if lightsingers were "rebranded" as witches in Prythian's world?
Here me out.
Koschei the sorcerer has shadow (dark light?) powers.
What if ACOTAR witches had light powers?
I've theorised before that Koschei may be Prythian's oldest shadowsinger, but it's interesting to note that he is also an accomplished sorcerer. This made me wonder, how do sorcerers differ from witches, if at all? I've had similar thoughts about shadowsingers and lightsingers, and I do still mean to write about that topic, but to sum up, I suspect that lightsingers and shadowsingers are two sides of the one coin, based on one of two things:
They are the same species, and the colour of their magic is dependent on mood or emotions (more likely), as I outlined in this post about Azriel's shadows and their response to Elain Archeron and his happiness/comfort in general.
There is possibly a male/female divide. This is less likely, but SJM established the following in HOSAB: "Two intersecting triangles. Male and female, dark and light, above and below … and the power that lies in the place where they meet." To many of us, this has a clear parallel with the Truth-Teller scene between Elain and Az in ACOWAR - "Elain looked up at Azriel, their eyes meeting, his hand still lingering on the hilt of the blade. I saw the painting in my mind: the lovely fawn, blooming spring vibrant behind her. Standing before Death, shadows and terrors lurking over his shoulder. Light and dark, the space between their bodies a blend of the two. The only bridge of connection … that knife." - but I digress.
* @wingedblooms has already written a fantastic post about why she believes Elain could be a lightsinger, and another hypothesising that Elain could be a witch (though we're both thinking and hoping that all three Archeron sisters are witches - and who knows, they were born in and slept on an ironwood bed in their cottage...); keep an eye out for wingedblooms' upcoming witch post! @silverlinedeyes has written similarly, wondering if Elain could be another sort of Singer, perhaps one that we haven't seen before. I highly recommend reading all of those posts.
There are - imo - similarities in the text between lightsingers, whose powers are not yet established beyond an apparent ability to lure people to them in some way, and ACOTAR witches, who are said to amass power beyond their natural reserves. We shouldn't, however, forget the witches from Midgard (CC) or Erilea (TOG, of which there was more than one sort: Ironteeth and Crochan).
The Ironteeth witches could be very beautiful, however, similarly to rumours of lightsingers in Prythian, they had keen predatory instincts, could change their teeth and nails to iron fangs and talons, and it wasn't uncommon for them to hunt for sport, as Cassian said of lightsingers in ACOSF. Other parallels exist, but as I said this is not just a crack theory, but a lazy theory as well, so I cbf going into it all. Sorry, but to quote @merymoonbeam, I'm in an it's in the text mood. 😅
Basically, it boils down to this: Koschei has shadow powers and can cast spells. Rhys has shadow-type powers and can also cast spells. Can Azriel, likewise, perform magic of his own? Do his shadows give him this power, or is it something more innate... does he have a hidden light? He can heal, of a sort, which we haven't seen from Cassian. Can lightsingers perform magical feats of their own? And if they are what are currently known as witches in some form, are they the sort that Mor spoke of, or Cassian? Or are they more similar to TOG or CC witches?
Witches in Prythian - the "human kind" that I assume Mor was talking about in ACOWAR (though this is unconfirmed) when Nesta asked the difference between a faerie and a witch - as I mentioned earlier, "...amass power beyond their natural reserve,” Mor answered with sudden seriousness. “They use spells and archaic tools to harness more power to them than the Cauldron allotted—and use it for whatever they desire, good or ill.”
As in TOG, Cassian seemed to hint, in ACOSF, that there was more than one type of witch, and he went straight into discussing lightsingers right afterwards: “What else dwells here other than kelpies?” “Some say witches,” he murmured. “Not the human kind,” he added when she raised a brow. “The kind that used to be something else and then their thirst for magic and power turned them into wretched creatures, banished here by various High Lords.” “They don’t sound so bad.” “They drink young blood to fill the coldness the magic left in them.” Nesta winced. Cassian went on as she scanned the bog, “There are lightsingers: lovely, ethereal beings who will lure you, appearing as friendly faces when you are lost. Only when you’re in their arms will you see their true faces, and they aren’t fair at all. The horror of it is the last thing you see before they drown you in the bog. But they kill for sport, not food.”
Witches, apparently, were also wretched creatures, banished to the Middle. This sounds eerily in line with what I suggested in this post, where I posited that lightsingers might not truly be evil after all, but they had possibly copped a bad rap after (and this is also a crack theory) siding with Theia against Fionn, and so, after the fallout, became an entire species of scapegoats to the misled public for that "betrayal." After such an historic event, it would make sense for the surviving lightsingers to rebrand themselves as witches, especially if they could pass for one sort, in order to escape the retribution that almost certainly would have followed. Has this disguise stuck over the millennia? Or, as I have often wondered, do they occasionally get caught out and then targeted, perhaps leading to a need for sanctuary in a library full of their own kin, run by someone who has her own unique brand of magic?
Again, I know that none of this is really well thought out, and I apologise for that, but I hope you get the gist of it, at least.

They said in HOSAB there's something about 7 something that symbols endgame stuff (idk) and it parallels the 7:00 on the bonus chapter of acosf. Is this true?
I don’t know the “somethinf about 7 something(lol)” in hosab but I don’t think it is true. 🥴 They use every little unrelated thing to point out their ship being endgame so I’m assuming it is one of those. 😀 if you happen to know what they were talking about with that hosab 7 stuff send me an ask bc you got me curious anon ngl...
On the other hand 7:00 in the bonus chapter...
I think hour 7 in the bonus chapter was there to point out dusk/dawn services gwyn talked about in the actual book and it connects to the lightsinger theory. In the actual book when nesta went to the services priestesses were singing and gwyn was the lead singer. And that whole chapter is so weird with all the language sarah used—like summoning and piercing and all . I have a post in my mind that I want to write about that chapter but I’m so busy at the moment with my finals. We will see when I will get around to write that post.

ACOTAR: Gwyn is a Lightsinger Theory
Summary
Gwyn’s powers are of beckoning songs that emit joy and light; they literally make her glow. This power causes her to knowingly or unknowingly manipulate people into wanting to make her happy. There’s a lot of phrases like:
* “…didn’t know why she did it…”
* “…didn’t know why she wished to see Gwyn…”
* “…for whatever reason…”
Etc.
Not only that but Gwyn’s voice is a siren call to people who are lost, not physically lost but emotionally. Gwyn herself is a siren call. Is it ethical? Her powers seem to be as ethical as Rhys and Feyre’s Daemati powers, the difference is that Feysand know how to control these powers, and right now we don’t know if Gwyn knows about her powers. Im sure the truth will come out sooner or later, but I do not think she is evil in any way.
Ps: Gwyn might be being manipulated by Merrill, but thats a whole other post.
PPS: Azriel’s shadows not warning him of Gwyn’s presence in the bonus chapter is bad. His shadows are his alert system, his upper hand on his enemies. If his shadows are compromised, that means that he doesn’t know if there’s any immediate danger.
