Horobi:

Honestly, he's not sure how to go about with dates? Romance is so foreign to him and a part of him isn't sure he should..uh...trust himself in that aspect? He does want this though, by God he does. He's confused is all. Though, honestly, he'll ask for you to pick the date site but will be elated if you two decide on something together. Horobi is someone who prefers peace and quiet but wouldn't mind something wild and exciting. But truth be told, as long as you are happy, he is happy. He's probably sitting next to you, looking over your shoulder at your laptop or phone as you two debate the pros and cons of each idea.

In the end, he's simply happy to stay by your side no matter what. You two probably settle on some sort of simple walk through nature, a hike perhaps. Horobi does have access to information beyond human comprehension so he probably helps via looking up quieter date spots that he's interested in. He ends up answering to you, "The ocean. I wish to see it with you." because it's quiet there. he can relax beside you and soak up your presence. He ends up packing a lil lunch and set of snacks for you as well, in case you end up hungry. He may not be able to it, but he's going to make sure that you're fed.

If you happen to swim in the ocean by the time you two are there, expect Horobi to be subtly glaring at people who look at you in your swimsuit. He doesn't recognize jealousy that quickly but claims he is simply protecting you. You appreciate it but please stop him lol. Other than that, the picnic will consist of you two simply talking about mundane things. How the day is with both of you and your respective lives, if Horobi cooked things to your liking, sitting in silence and simply enjoying the view, and little things. Horobi does end up collecting little things to give to the other members of MBJR (shells for Jin and trinkets for Ikazuchi and Naki from the gift shop) and perhaps you two will collect shells together. He's merely happy to see you smile and he saves it to his database and encrypts it...along with your body in a swimsuit because no way is anyone else fucking seeing that-

Horobi has seen sunsets before. From Daybreak Town, from the city, videos about the beach but...experiencing them is different. Especially in a positive note. He's always seen them as "another day" but with you by his side? It is simply seen as "something to experience with someone you care for" and he is content. There is this wistful smile to him as you slide your hand into his because the way the hair hits his blonde hair makes it shine and it's...probably the most beautiful thing you've ever seen. He stares at you when you do hold his hand, confused, but smiles in return and you simply rest your head on his shoulder and are just....happy.

Horobi walks you home that night as he does every night. It's quiet and he enters your home to wash the dishes and to further stretch out this time you two have together. You insist he doesn't have to and you can wash the dishes but honestly, you two just end up doing them together. It's this calm state that Horobi records happily into his mind and debates on kissing you because he has heard that kisses make the date perfect but to him it's already perfect and...all of a sudden he's asking for one in this quiet voice you could miss. It's not ideal to kiss in this mundane moment but to Horobi...these are the ones he craves the most.

Naki:

Naki, similar to Horobi, they would let you pick the date idea. They are simply happy to exist beside you and they also would be elated if you two would pick out a date together! They probably went to Delmo and asked what are good date ideas or scoured the internet for options. They have some points to add in, quips of "I wish to go someplace peaceful and we can do things at our pace." so it's settled to attend this little small town festival. Naki enjoys people watching and this little event is the best way to do it. Besides, it shows off the culture of the locals and the traditions that are only passed down from families - orally even, things never recorded in the databases of humanity and are these organic little nuggets of knowledge that only you two are privy to.

Naki walks with their hands and arms loosely at their side, all the while staying near and next to you. They are scanning the crowds and their sensors are beeping this way and that. They are understanding the hype within the crowd and are smiling to themselves. Humagears are mingling as well, some enjoying the flow of the festival, some helping with the preparations, others simply existing as are the two of you. This is probs the best point to take their hand into yours and hold them, asking for permission first. Naki would blink but nods, happily holding your hand with their own synthetic one.

As Naki cannot eat, they are simply there to exist alongside you. They're completely fine with this, however, and simply walk alongside you taking in the sights and smells and simply observing your smiling face - which they save into one of the many folders they have dedicated to you, meticulously up-kept - and smiling alongside you. If you two end up shopping during the festival, Naki will want to find little trinkets that are matching. They can memorize everything today, yes, but sometimes having little physical things together makes it all the more better.

Naki spots a ferris wheel and they point over to it, "Would you like to go on that with me? I have heard that ferris wheels are an ideal date spot." and of course you go! You two hold hands as you ride together, leaning against one another once you reach the tippy top and simply watch the crowd below as the sky dims, the lights glittering within the night. "I am content." Perhaps that is the best word for this moment. Content. Because it's hectic and calm all at once.

And then they press their forehead against yours while waiting for the ferris wheel to go down, a small nuzzle of noses and a soft whisper of, "May I kiss you? It is customary to kiss on a date." that is true but you laugh and agree, melting into this kiss and Naki tilts their head slightly just to have their lips perfectly mesh against yours. Maybe hands get involved, but either way, by the time you two reach the ground, you are flushed and smiling like an idiot and Naki saves like 70 different pictures and videos of this moment before their circuits overload with this emotion for you. Of course, you two walk home together and Naki probably spends the night, simply basking in that content feeling.

Jin

Jin is more than enthusiastic about the prospect of a date! He already has ideas but wants to ask you for your opinion as well! He practically is all sunshine and rainbows, bouncing around and honestly, he has a whole ass itinerary set up! It's settled on going to an amusement park and Jin is beyond excited to go! He's clinging on to your hand as he drags you to and fro into the park, a child on Christmas. Jin never stops telling you that he planned out what to do and how to have maximum fun and romantic times! In reality, he scoured the internet and then asked Yua for ideas since they frequent theme parks often. Yua and Horobi and the rest of MBJR may or may not be spying on the date to ensure it's going well.

Jin first picks the roller coaster, because it stimulates the thrill of flying for him and when he picks you up to fly too! He tends to carry you around princess style whenever you two go flying and he loves it whenever you cling on to him tightly. So really, you hanging on to his arm on a roller coaster is similar to that feeling. When the ride starts, he's holding your hand the entire time and giggling, "I'll protect you from everything in the sky! I promise! It's my domain!" and seeing him smile and laugh is just...worth every single little thing in the world.

Once off, Jin would ask if you want something to eat. Something small in case your stomach is still doing those loop-de-loops from the ride earlier. If you settle on some sort of finger food, Jin will feed you stating, "Ikazuchi nii told me to do it." and you contemplate if you need to talk with the dodo. He's gingerly wiping off whatever hint of a morsel you have left on the side of your chin and you almost die on the inside. But also, during this entire time, Jin is recording and snapping pics and saving like 800 different photos to his memory.

This entire damn time he is holding your hand and giving you cheek kisses! Cheek kisses are one of Jin's favorite type of kisses and he is just so full of this almost overwhelming emotion that he needs to get it out somehow. It's beautiful and he wants to share it with you! He's swinging your hands in this endearing fashion and giggling whenever you give him kisses back. But then he brings your hand up to his lips and kisses them and you wonder if you died and went to heaven.

The date ends with a fireworks show and a parade because you two have spent literally the entire day there. You take photos, grab souvenirs, photo booths, and so on and so forth. So, as per Ikazuchi's goading, Jin had kissed you as a heart-shaped firework lit up the sky (may or may not have been placed there by MBJR and Yua, I'm not saying anything) and it felt so right. The kiss has you breathless and you're resting your forehead against his and you two are just this bundle of giggles as Jin nuzzles your noses together. "When can we plan our next date?" he questions with enthusiasm. Though really, every day is a blessing with you by his side.

Ikazuchi:

Ikazuchi claims that your date together is a surprise. You blink up at him, and his stupidly proud smile, asking him what the hell he means and he only pats your head. "Just wait, okay? I have this entire date planned out." he took in the weather, the chill, and even your likes and dislikes. You chuckle and smile as he takes you out to this little spot in the woods, decorated with fairy lights and a blanket along with flowers dotting the area and you stare at him and he has this goofy and proud grin. "Surprise! But this is only half of it." what in the world is he planning????

You gobble up the food he bought for you, all of your favorites from restaurants you two have gone together or have ordered while at work. Horobi and some others have pitched in to cook as well so you are fucking stuffed by the time you finished it all. He pats his lap, "Rest for a second then, we got a lot ahead of us." he states and you just...do. Surrounded by this flowers, Ikazuchi, and lights, it's enough to lull you into this simple and short nap that Ikazuchi ends up recording and saving at least 100 photos of and encrypting them. How could he not? When you look so cute!!! Anyway, if you ask him about this, he denies it. He just calls you the cutest thing when you napped and if you quip back that he's cuter, you see Ikazuchi briefly blue screen and then you two go into a "argument" over who's cuter.

Ikazuchi ends this argument by simply picking you up and walking up the path towards the forest. You yelp and cling on to him, demanding to let you down and he does oblige after teasing you a bit. "I like carrying you like this, makes you look cute." but he sets you down and takes your hand into his, and up up up the mountainside you go. It's a relatively medium-ish hike and you two are laughing and talking the entire time. He would squeeze your hand and you would squeeze his in return, and are simply happy to be together.

By the time you reach this clearing with a bench and railing on it, the stars have blessed the night sky and you gasp as you two sit on the bench and Ikazuchi traces out the constellations that he can see, telling you the names of the things you have heard many times before since you have stayed by his side. You two are holding hands, leaning against one another, soaking up whatever emotion that is lingering in the air right now and it's just right. It's perfect and it's all you could ever ask for...

The date ends by the time you two are back in the car, Ikazuchi is driving and everything is cleaned up. You end up falling asleep during the ride home, happy with how the day went and the simple lull of the night. Every now and then, Ikazuchi would sneak glances at you, smiling to himself. He carries you into your home, setting you down on the blanket in your bed and tucking you in. He lingers for a while, simply happy to be by your side and whispers that he loves you - and then it turns out that you weren't really sleeping at all so you zoom up to kiss him on the lips and this catches him by surprise. Soon enough, you two are making out on your bed and end up cuddling. Ikazuchi would chuckle and peck your forehead, "That wasn't fair, asshole." but listen, it got a cute and light hearted laugh and smile outta him so its WORTH IT

new ride kamens dropped, rui, who is definitely a horobi homage; another cool choice, but at the same time, kinda wish it was someone else 'cuz now we got two zero-one homages with hayate's jin, when the trend had been one rider for each season until him, and people started claiming that takahashi must be playing favorites

aw, I was actually pretty jazzed to see it was Horobi! I think it opens up some interesting possibilities if it isn't only one-per after all, and I'm excited to see if there's gonna be something with him and Hayate or not. plus I just really like his design

(also, not to be all cynical, but. this exists because of a corporate trend-hop with a franchise that is already sorta notorious for executive meddling. I would be...let's say very surprised if Takahashi had that level of control over what riders were included, versus being handed a list to work off of that the execs had already determined would appeal to their target demographic. c'mon.)

Number Five: Shoutaro is kidnapped and tortured

Kamen Rider W ep 16 - in this episode, Shoutaro has his injured arm stood on and Philip is forced to listen to his pained screaming. Throughout the episode, Shoutaro is held captive and is also suspended from the ceiling with rope dangling over a set of spikes ready to kill him should he fall. Philip also has his fair share of whump in this episode.

Kamen Rider Build ep 34 - Sento is poisoned by an alien poison and has been given three days to live. He spends a lot of the episode in pain wearing an oxygen mask whilst his friends try to come up with a plan to save him.

Number One: Horobi in the Basement

Kamen Rider Zero One ep 22 - a shorter whump scene in comparison to others on this list, but I'm a sucker for villain whump and this was the first scene that came to mind when making this list. Horobi has a breakdown during captivity, he spends a lot of the show being manipulated and brainwashed, as well as being the person to manipulate others, such as Jin, due to following the commands of the Ark.

Number Five: Kazumin from Kamen Rider Build

Kazumin is wonderfuly whumped in Build, but in my opinion not enough. Considering the horrors he has endured during the war, I wish there was more angst for him. Maybe I'm just being greedy though.

Number Four: Sora from Kamen Rider Wizard

As I said earlier, I am a sucker for villain whumpees, so naturally Sora is here. He also does not have a lot of whump scenes, but I think the ones he does have are very underrated.

Number Three: Philip from Kamen Rider W

This poor guy goes through it on this show. Not only is one of the main plot points of the show Philip having to physically collapse to use his powers, but throw in amnesia, trauma and overwhelming powers and you have yourself a wide variety of whump scenes.

Number Two: Parad from Kamen Rider Ex Aid

Another sad little guy that goes through it during the later eps of the show (and he kinda deserves it). Parad's crippling fear and anxiety at finally understanding the value of life makes for some great emotional whump, and it helps that I love started-off-as-a-villain-then-learned-empathy-and-became-an-anti-hero character arcs like his

Number One: Ankh from Kamen Rider OOOs

Naturally anyone who has been following me for a while is probably not surprised that Ankh is my number one. He is the blueprint of a villain/anti-hero whumpee who becomes the good guy at the expense of himself, but somehow still managing to be a bit of a dick about it. I love him. His whump scenes are also my favourite but since I have included him in previous posts, he did not make it onto the Top Five Kamen Rider Whump Scenes of this post. I could ramble about this man's character arc all day. And I have. I simply love his character and his brash stubbornness that is secretly masking insecurity and love.

This list was super hard to whittle down, and bear in mind that my preferences shift all the time but realistically you can never go wrong with introducing me to a prickly morally dubious whumpee with a troubled past. I am weak for them.

I came across a 01 MV and remembered a theory I had after watching ZI-O x 01…..

Because Aruto used a ForceRiser that’s only been used by Humagears before I thought that they were going to reveal that Aruto was a Humagear later in the series.

Here’s the how I thought Humagear Aruto was gonna go.

During the Daybreak Incident, the actual Aruto died alongside the Soreo Humagear

In his despair of losing the last of his family, Korenosuke created a Humagear in Aruto's likeness

But in his desire to see his Grandchild grow Korenosuke somehow managed to make the Aruto Humagear in a way that he was almost completely identical to a human

Knowing the Aruto Humagear would be shut down due to the laws following Humagears taking the appearance of a dead person, Korenosuke hid the actual Aruto’s death from everyone and gave the Humagear memories of Aruto surviving

The only other person to know the secret would be Gai, who publicly reveals this secret to Aruto and the world to turn the public against Aruto & Humagears even more.

Gai finds a legal loophole that takes Aruto’s position in Hiden Intelligence away since the actual Aruto Hiden is dead

Of course, Aruto would have an existential crisis over learning that he was just a replacement.

Izu manages to help Aruto accept himself by finding a hidden file left by Korenosuke in which he apologizes to Aruto for not saying anything and so on.

At first Horobi & Co. try to convert Aruto to their side but they later mark him as a traitor to their kind

All enemies try to capture and reverse engineer Aruto because of how human-like he is.

After getting Zero Two he starts going around with the Humagear headphone things on him

I just realized that this is basically the same as Neon’s reveal in Kamen Rider Geats….

Okay I can’t not say something…

… I dunno what’s going on in Geats. I’m not watching it. Sounds like my man Michianga is getting some shit which sucks, when will Takahashi treat the purple guys right???

I say, not even sure I’m spelling his name right.

But I genuinely cannot believe people are still trying to come for Horobi on this.

So let’s clear some things up.

1) Horobi was absolutely set up. Probably wasn’t the Ark’s plan from the start exactly, but she knowingly made him dependent on her and psychologically abused and manipulated him for years. Disconnected from her, Horobi was unstable and trying to grapple w/ trying to think for himself. He was heavily traumatised and easily manipulated, making him the perfect patsy. All she had to do was poke Izu’s blind devotion to Aruto a bit and have her use her usual brand of insensitive, socially unaware ‘help.’ That situation was absolutely orchestrated.

2) Is two things. Izu could easily have dodged that shot and choose not to, and Horobi had no reason to think she had no backup (which was ridiculous to begin w/). He’d made it very clearly he considered backups to be a form of immortality for ai, and we have no clue how he would have reacted if she dodged bc she choose not to. Obviously Horobi ‘shouldn’t’ have resorted to violence to ‘end’ that interaction, but he was not in a mental place where he could make that distinction. It’s all he’s ever known, it’s predominately the only way anyone has ever treated him. He was panicked and she was harassing him. He was desperate to end the interaction in anyway possible, and he’d already tried walking away. But there is no way he ‘knew’ he was ‘killing’ her (and, well… He didn’t). He actually seems genuinely shaken that she just took the hit, being unable to respond to Jin’s question (which he always has before). He wasn’t planning on ‘killing’ her at all, he just needed her to stop. She also choose to go in there in the first place. That’s like… Not to compare any of these characters to dogs in that way, but that’s like a domesticated Pomeranian walking into a playpen w/ a recently ‘rescued’ wolf that’s been abused and used in fighting rings and trying to play and being shocked it got bitten.

3) There were so many people who could have done something. Jin, who’s been so ready to take hits for people he barely knows before, just stands there. There were plenty of humans around! Fuwa and Yua, who started this whole damn thing, were nowhere to be seen, and Fuwa had an opportunity to stop the fighting and fucked it up. Like I absolutely believe there’s a correlation between Fuwa shooting Horobi for asking him that question and Horobi shooting at Izu to get her to stop provoking him. Aruto himself is more busy trying to force the HumaGear outside to go back to how he thinks they should be then dealing w/ the actual root of the situation. If he actually cared as much as he claims, maybe he’d realise how much suffering Horobi is going through and actually try to address the situation, rather than leaving it to his secretary who is in no way capable of doing so?

Basically, the fact of the matter is that this was not Horobi killing Izu in cold blood, it was more equivalent to a wounded animal trying to defend itself. She choose to go in there, back him into a corner, and choose not to back off when she saw he was becoming agitated. She choose not to dodge. He fired back in an attempt to end the interaction, bc she was doing more harm than help. Ultimately, I’m not trying to pin this on her, either, although I have Issues w/ how she was portrayed. Izu was never going to be able to help Horobi there bc she just could not understand what he was going through. In her mind, devotion to Aruto makes everything right, Aruto is the absolute best thing ever. And that’t not her fault, that was how she was made, and he inadvertently groomed her into that. But let’s not get me started on Aruto. The fact of the matter is that this was literally everyone’s fault. Well, it’s Gai and the Ark’s fault (bc the Ark is Gai’s fault), but if Horobi and even Izu herself had done nothing different but someone else present actually used their common sense for five seconds, this would never have happened.

Literally, this is saying that a traumatised, abused child soldier lashing out bc they feel backed into a corner and scared out of their minds is deliberately aggressive. Horobi was protecting himself the only way he knew how, Izu was (unintentionally, like she meant well but meaning well does not equate to doing well) harassing and provoking him and randomly decided not to dodge for some inconceivable reason, and everyone else decided that clearly, the sheltered ai w/ limited world experience and knowledge was obviously the right person to deal w/ the traumatised, abused, unstable one.

Also Fuwa and Yua started it and Fuwa had a chance to stop the fighting and fucked it up. An in character fuck up, maybe, but a fuck up. Aruto was more bothered w/ getting his free labour back than helping the traumatised child soldier. Jin randomly decides to be useless.

Edit: bc I realise I forgot them, Naki and Ikazuchi aren’t even there, they just show up to talk shit later like what the fuck guys maybe actually make and effort before you start badmouthing your supposed family member who you know has been horribly abused and mind controlled all his life.

Aaaaand… I’m not talking about after bc I think I’ve ruffled enough feathers.

Basically, while the situation in Geats does sound much more straightforward, I will not stand for people depicting Horobi as some knowingly malicious killer when he was very clearly not in a space where he could or knew how to make those calls. The man had only just gotten disconnected from the Ark, he was just learning how to make decisions. He didn’t ‘choose’ to ‘kill’ Izu, he acted on an instinct to protect himself out of fear and then he himself did not understand his actions.

we talk about it a lot but i wonder if anyone's ever actually sat down & compiled the sheer number of "recycled" elements across 2 or more takahashi shows. i never made it through zero-one so mine might not be comprehensive but off the top of my head

a disease that infects civilians and produces monsters (game disease, jamato infection)

the nice guy put-upon hero who gets bullied by fellow riders as well as by the writer (emu, keiwa) and eventually mcfucking snaps when a woman he loves is killed (aruto, keiwa)

the "techno girl" heroine who's surface-level besties with the lead but has like zero agency as a character (poppy, izu, tsumuri) and "dies" near the end of the show (still to be seen if tsumuri will be dealt this hand)

she has an unconventional familial relationship to a smug man in the cast that she does not always seem to enjoy (ace & tsumuri, kuroto & poppy)

the fun, slightly sketchy older brother type who's the most likeable cast member but gets minimal screentime (kiriya, mr raiden, win), who dies early on but comes back from the grave later to be the MC's right hand man, his silly rabbit (kiriya, win)

grumpy guy with a flat emotional affect and a line of dialogue that he will repeat over and over again in like every scene he's in (taiga, horobi, michinaga) and also turns out to be kind of a dweeb (taiga, michinaga)

rider has a dead boyfriend or girlfriend who is their initial main motivation and they keep seeing Visions of (hiiro, michinaga)

rider discovers that some aspect of their identity is false / artificially constructed (fuwa, neon)

annoying unhinged villainous genius man who is more than happy to be turned into one of the monsters (kuroto, daichi)

evil CEO (masamune, gai, kurama)

who is also the domineering father of one of the riders, have a backstory where their loved one tragically died & have a fraught relationship with their child bc of it, and get a scene where someone visits them in prison (masamune, kurama)

a whole "species" of "techno people" who have to learn how to have new/healthier human emotions (bugsters, humagears, supporters)

these techno people have one specific human they have a deep connection with (bugsters, supporters)

a scene where the lead's Bonded Pair learns the fear of death in order to realize the value of human lives (parad, ziin)

evil woman who acts Like That about the heroes' suffering (azu, beroba) (they're even styled alike)

Just worked out the design for my next character in my Ace Attorney x Kamen Rider AU—Kristoph Gavin!

His suit was inspired by cone snails and paladin/knight armor, and his cone shell-shaped helm folds down like an actual knight's helmet!

Other notes + WIP sketches under cut; contains spoilers for Ace Attorney 4.

I emphasized the dark blue to contrast with the bright yellow/gold colors, since yellow is the color most commonly associated with betrayal.

I chose to base the suit off of the cone snail since they are one of the most venomous creatures on Earth, which connects his design to Klavier's, which is a scorpion.

The poison aspect also ties into the way he plotted the death of the Mishams in AA4-4.

The Void Driver is made to resemble the Sunrise Driver and Proto-Sunrise Driver that Apollo and Phoenix have, but it's an imitation; when spun counter-clockwise (as opposed to clockwise with the Sunrise Driver), the sides of the 'badge' split open, activating the transformation. Think of it like the Thousand Driver from Zero-One.

The padlock design on the chest, of course, is based on the black Psyche-Lock Kristoph has in the AA4-4 investigation segment with Phoenix.

The suit design in general has some inspiration from Zero-One's Kamen Rider Horobi's suit, particularly the straps.

Meeting - MetsuBouJinRai

I WILL NOT STOP TALKING ABOUT MBJR OKAY? I LOVE THEM SO MUCH THAT IT H U R TS Warnings: This can be read as platonic or romantic and is dedicated to @melting-morning-blues a fellow MBJR (and naki) simp lol. Probably spoilers....yeah...def spoilers. Also this is sad kinda?

Horobi:

The only time you’re gonna be able to meet Horobi in a positive aspect is after this man has reformed himself. He’s hiding in the shadows of the world now, he’s protecting it in his own way. He’s ensuring the Ark does not come back and he takes his job oh so seriously. He does not need to sleep and is reluctant to ask for help from Aruto (for obvious reasons) or even AIMS. He’s better at asking for help from the other members and his own son but it’s still...um...difficult. 

Your first meeting is that he’s protecting you from an attack somewhere or from a malicious human. It’s a nonlethal blow and Horobi just stands over them and then looks over at you. You know who he is, he was all over the news once upon a time and as he turns to leave, you speak, “Thank you.” it’s honest and sincere and this catches his attention. So he turns to you and asks, “Are you not afraid of me?” and when you shake your head no...Horobi is confused. He was...ya know...not a good person...

“You’re helping now, so there is no need to be afraid of you.” and this shocks him for a good while. He’s deathly silent and his glare could kill people. But he doesn’t speak as he leaves and you are left. But what you don’t know is that Horoboi is secretly following you as you walk to your destination in the dark, wanting to ensure that you’re okay before actually leaving.

You uh...end up meeting him again when he rescues you from yet another fucker. You chuckle and state, “We gotta stop meeting like this.” which causes Horobi to roll his eyes. “It is merely chance, do not get in trouble again.” and then...ya keep meeting again. Whoops. You swear you are not stalking him and he is definitely not stalking you. But it is chance and well...ya better off getting to know this dude anyway.

Ya somehow end up with Horobi on speed dial and you tend to text him about things about your day! He doesn’t respond quickly as he takes his time to come up with the proper responses (sometimes hijacked by Jin who’s happy that his papa has a friend) and sure these responses are dry as hell and he may not fully get things even using the internet...but Horobi is honestly trying. He’s not going to open up right away bit he’ll get there...and he considers you interesting either way...

Naki

The only way to meet Naki is technically through AIMS, especially through Yua. Naki is a homebody at heart and they tend to keep to themselves. They only interact with people when they deem it necessary and other than that, they really only hang with like...Yua and Fuwa? You meet Naki because Yua introduced you to them, in order to consolidate better camaraderie between members. Naki was difficult to get used to, honestly, not because they’re a Humagear but simply because Naki is just very hard to talk to. It’s kinda awkward and silent for a while.

Naki is super professional, however, so it’s difficult to make small talk with them. They’re focused on their work and it’s difficult to mesh with them. However, one thing Naki does enjoy talking about is their dreams and MBJR. Though it is slight, you see this...strange glimmer of artificial light within their eyes when they speak about it. It’s quick and ephemeral, you need to catch it before it dissipates altogether. They’re affectionate towards their comrades, their family...and it’s so sweet to see.

If you all have seen the Zero One anime, you know Naki is...secretly a bit of a lil shit. Ikazuchi did break the rules and Naki is secretly rather competitive and they don’t really notice it until someone has to point it out to them. Naki had been invited to a group party and they started to play games and Naki got super into it and honestly, Naki probably got it from Fuwa...

It takes a long while for Naki to warm up to you, even then communication verbally is sparse. But it helps that you have Yua to help mitigate the tension just a bit. Though, it soon ends up becoming comfortable silence between the two of you as each of you do your own thing. You just pass information to each other in this dance of quaint trust that speaks volumes within the silence. Naki shows it with cues you honestly almost miss. Perhaps small nods and a slight change in the openness of their body language.

Naki whispers a genuine and kind, “Thank you.” to you one day when you had complimented them. It’s robotic a bit but there’s this twinge of gratefulness and lightness to their voice in the end. This soon spirals into asking them to possibly some down time outside of the AIMS office and they accept, perhaps one of the few times they have an actual human friend that isn’t Yaiba or Fuwa...and it’s nice.

Jin

Meeting Jin starts when he finds you repairing a dumped Humagear, after all...it must have belonged to someone and lived out his short life to its fullest. So you wanted to at least give it something. He’s surprised that you are helping, and he eventually helped you bring it to Hiden Aruto who fixed it up real quick! He thanks you of course, and then he is on his way. He’s surprised that you are helping Humagears but knows that they’re aren’t bad humans out there and inwardly, he hopes he gets to see you again.

And then he did. He finds you ending up working for Aruto’s company and meets you again when he visits him! You two get formally introduced by this time and you end up...not really tailing Jin (even though he jokes that you are) but keep on meeting him whenever you work for Aruto. Jin is the only member of MBJR that visits Aruto the most and it’s not a surprise to see him in the president’s office just chatting with him or learning about the happenings of the day. Thus, you kind of end up getting to know him during this time. 

You two end up becoming work buddies and whenever Jin visits, half of it is now to visit  you! It’s like patrol but not really patrol because he’s here to kinda goof-off half of the time. He takes his job seriously but like...there are times when he wants to be himself, and experience things for himself. It’s human-like and childish, yes, but honestly...it’s worth it to see him smile. 

He’s very much the easiest out of all of MBJR to get along with, and soon enough you are pretty much going flower shopping with him. He has a garden back in Daybreak Town and loves finding little whacky pots and new flowers to plant! Hell, if you two go paint flower pots together, he’s over the moon!

Jin is the most receptacle to texts from you and tends to randomly send you texts as well! It’s things like you two exchanging greetings, things about your respective days, where to meet up for a job, where to meet up for another shopping trip, etc! He has come to enjoy hanging out with you and honestly looks forward to it! Expect him to text you in the middle of the night just because he wants to hang or something, lol.

Ikazuchi

You met him when he was still known as Raiden and Subaru was by his side. He was probably sitting in a planetarium at his workplace, mapping out this false map of stars and there’s this twinkle in his eyes like a longing...he’s seen the real thing but sometimes, here on earth...it’s beautiful to see them plastered on to a simple ceiling. He hears you and wonders if you had gotten lost, laughing if you are and trying to take you back. 

He introduces himself as Raiden and you two spend time talking about the stars and planets. As he has spent so much time up there, he tells you about the beauty of it, how small everything was from his point of view. He knows you cannot see it but ends up giving you photos he had snapped while up there. “For a keepsake.” and he gives you a playful wink and ruffles your hair. “See you around, some day!” You visit him often now, wanting to learn more, understand more, and are magnetized to his energy...

When he is destroyed as Ikazuchi, you go to spend time with Subaru now...in mourning, perhaps. You two have gotten closer since meeting with Raiden and it’s this silent moment between the two of you as Subaru is processing his grief. It’s a new emotion for him and he can’t shed tears but it’s these sobs that threaten to tear out his sensors and voice box and he clings to you tighter than ever. You can’t do much but just hold him...

When he comes back as Ikazuchi, it’s awkward but you ran up to him with the brightest sparkles in your eyes and almost tackled him into a hug. “You’re back! You’re back Raiden!” and he stiffens. He hesitates to embrace back but pushes you away and tells you, “I’m...part of Metsuboujinrai...you’re not scared?” and you answer him no...because...why would that make a difference??? If Ikaika could cry, he would have.

Ikazuchi spends equal times with MBJR and equal times with Subaru and you now. You tend to visit him at the space center of course as he returns to working there. But he spends a lot more time down to earth (ha) now. This means he’s up for like random lil hang outs and dumb shit to do together. Fuwa sometimes checks on y’all as does Aruto and one of these days you and Ikazuchi are legit gonna disappear because you two stole a car and are going on a road trip-
