BUNCH more OC stuff heheh

This time for Weird Frog, Packleader, and Cure!

I am now thinking more about the Jurassic Park/World - Animorphs crossover AU (Dinomorphs?). It has stuck in my head like a bad song and I can't get it out.

InGen and any of the other companies involved with making the dinosaurs would be taken over by the Yeerks almost as soon as the Yeerks arrive. These companies have biological engineering capabilities approaching the level of the Arn, but on a much better planet. The Yeerks would be salivating over that.

Following on from this: Hybrid dinosaurs like the Indo-series Rex and Raptor or the Stegoceratops from the video games are probably Yeerk projects. The Yeerks are looking for ways to create more shock troops to unleash on the Andalites.

Similarly, we could expect to see even more interesting hybrids involving alien DNA. Velocihorks and Pterotaxxons and Geddosaurs. I imagine most of these hybrid projects would be failures that illustrate the depravity and utter inhumanity of the Yeerks, like the failed Aquatic Hork-Bajir project.

Dinosaur-controllers, mostly with medium-sized dinosaurs that can function as guards or shock-troops but aren't too big to fit inside of Yeerk ships. As much as Visser Three would love to have Tyrannosaur-Controllers on the payroll, they're just too big and their arms too tiny to be useful to the Empire on a day to day basis. (I imagine this is the same reason the Yeerks can't deploy the giant monsters on the Hork-Bajir homeworld to other planets - their spaceships just can't hold the critters, there's not enough room.)

Visser Three, of course, would have all the big dinosaur morphs. He can bypass the "too big to fit" limitation thanks to Alloran's morphing ability.

Because the Yeerks have to use smaller dinosaurs in their ships and Yeerk Pools, the Animorphs could still use their regular battle morphs (or in Ax's case, his normal Andalite body) for a lot of the fighting, if they aren't able to acquire dinosaurs themselves. And if Visser Three turns into something too big for them to handle, they can do what they usually do and run.

If the dinosaurs have escaped into the wild before the Animorphs get into the war, then smaller dinosaur morphs could be acquired at Cassie's barn.

Following on from the last point - if Cassie has any mid-size theropods at the Barn, or if there are any at The Gardens, then Tobias definitely gets stuck as one of those instead of a hawk.

How would the chimeric DNA of the dinosaurs affect morphing allergies? What if Rachel burps up a Baryonyx or an Ankylosaurus because it has the part of the crocodile DNA that she's allergic to in it? Is this how we find out Jake is allergic to Tree Frog DNA?

Toby and the Free Hork-Bajir adopt a dinosaur early on. I don't know what kind yet.

Why do people hate the Jurassic Park dinos so much? Like yeah, the movies aren’t accurate, but they were at the time. Mostly.

The first movie was made with as many facts to be as accurate as possible, paleontologists were consulted, were EXCITED.

Yeah, a lot of the inaccuracies we know of NOW, but we didn’t when Jurassic Park first came out. The reboot could have had more accurate dinosaurs, but then cinemasins would be complaining about the universe not bein consistent with itself. They even mention IN THE MOVIES that they AREN’T accurate dinosaurs! The point is that they aren’t accurate dinosaurs! It’s pointed out so many times that they were made to be theme park attractions, big and scary monsters for Hammond’s show, and how different they would be if the rich guys wanted accuracy.

Henry Wu himself says it in Jurassic World. “You didn’t ask for accurate.”

i think people demanding accuracy from fictional movies about splicing dinosaur dna from mosquitos with frog dna to bring back extinct species for a theme park is weird.

It’s a work of fiction about gmo dinosaurs using a type of cloning that doesn’t exist. Who cares if the dinosaurs aren’t always fossil accurate, no one is going into those to learn actual dinosaur physiology.

"ugh, what is that smell?" you groan, scrunching up your nose as you open your front door and head inside. it's been a long day at work, and all you were looking forward to was a relaxing takeout meal and some much needed alcohol. you cover your nose with a handkerchief as you walk into the kitchen. and see hinata shōyō throw a pan into the sink.

"did you see that?" he asks meekly. your eyes soften, but a teasing smirk takes over your lips as you lean against the wall and cross your arms over your chest, "see what?"

he's turning the faucet on as he says, "i wanted to make you dinner. i even called omi-kun for help. then i went to the living room to watch highlights of the old game between the ejp raijin and the sendai frogs because atsumu said we should use one of their techniques in the next season so i got all excited. then i smelled something burning."

you let out a breathy chuckle as you walk up to him, wrapping your arms around his torso as you close your eyes. then, you mumble, "you don't need to cook for me, shō. you could've ordered take-out. that would've been fine."

"but i wanted it to be special. you've been working late this past week and you would've been tired. i screwed up dinner and now we have nothing to eat."

you peer up at him, but he avoids your gaze until you cup his cheeks and force him to look back. you hum, "how about we cook lunch together tomorrow?"

"you don't have work tomorrow?" he asks, eyes big.

"it's saturday," you giggle, "i have the day off."

"i lost track of what day it is after our last game," he rubs the back of his neck guiltily. and you laugh even harder as you get on the tip of your toes and press a peck to his cheek, "what do you want to eat?"

"tomorrow or right now?"

you give him a look, and he says, "pizza."

"good choice," you chortle, before giving his lips a peck and going through your work bag to find your phone, "i'll order breadsticks too."

"the ones with cheese?"

"the ones with cheese."

"thank you!" he groans happily. you narrow your eyes, "hey, you're the one who fucked up dinner."

"the wounds are still fresh, honey. don't wound me."

"want me to make up my vicious verbal attacks with cuddles?"

"and jurassic park?"

"i am so in love with you," he giggles, walking over to you and kissing your lips softly. you smile into the kiss, leaning against him. a sigh leaves your lips, and he frowns, "what's wrong, hon?"

"nothing's wrong, i'm just exhausted. and seeing you at the end of the day is the best thing that happens to me," you tell him. shōyō grins, as if you've stroked his ego, "i'm glad to be of service."

"no seriously, seeing you is like a free therapy session," you joke, giggling breathily. he takes your hand in his, interlocking your fingers. then he whispers, "come on. let's go get you in some pajamas and watch movies on the couch. then we'll makeout and fall asleep there too."

"that sounds like such a solid plan," you laugh.

"free therapy session?"

"free therapy session."

Racebending vs Whitewashing 101

In this essay we’re going to be answering two questions: Why is it ok, from a race perspective, to make white characters POC but not the other way around? And why don’t you make original characters that are POC instead?

There are quite a few reasons, and I’ll be discussing them all below the cut for anyone who's genuinely curious about this and wants to educate themselves :)

⭕️ Firstly: most white characters have no plot relevant reason to be white. White people are considered the default human being, so their race or culture *usually* does not affect or contribute to the plot or story or game in any way. Like, pick your average piece of media with white characters in it and see if they actually *have* to be white for the story to work/make sense. Unless being WHITE plays some important role in the story, then in most cases, characters do not need to be white. This is especially true for non human characters depicted as white (mermaids, faeries, aliens, etc.). Unless being a *white* non human is important to the story for a specific reason and then they can be almost ANY race. For example: In Gremlins do Billy and his family have to be white for the story to still work? Does making the Skywalker family POC impact the plot in any way, shape or form in Star Wars? Is being white relevant to Iron Man's, Batman's, or Superman's stories at all? Why do the main characters of Jaws have to be white? Do Alan Grant and Ellie Sattler, and Claire Dearing and Owen Grady, from Jurassic Park and Jurassic World, respectively, need to be white in order for the movies to make sense? Does being white play an important role in Indiana Jones' character, or would the movies still work if he was another race? Does it impact the story if I were to change the Russels (Maddie, Emma, and Mark) in Godzilla: King of the Monsters, from white to black?

⭕️ Conversely, people aren’t as used to seeing POC in media, so often their existence is “justified” with some form of racism. It would not make sense to make a character facing racism (say, antiblackness) white (for example, in Disney's The Princess and the Frog, Tiana lives in a segregated Black community that is decidedly poorer than the wealthy white community Lottie lives in, and is denied the ability to buy the mill to make into a restaurant because it would’ve been too hard for a woman of her “background” to run a business)

⭕️ Another way POC are “justified” in western media is making something specifically about their culture. Unlike most white people in media, we cannot simply *exist* and, say, survive an alien invasion, or steal the Declaration of Independence, or get sucked into portal to a magical land, or survive a natural disaster, or have a very very very bad day, or solve a mystery about a haunted house, or worry about prom. No, our culture almost always has to play some SIGNIFICANT role to “explain” to the audience why that character is not white. Not that that’s a bad thing. For example, Mulan is about a Chinese woman overcoming the deeply ingrained sexism in China and becoming a soldier. The movie is all about China and Chinese culture, so it makes no sense to make her white.

⭕️ Making a POC white plays into whitewashing and colorism (the basic idea that paler skin is better/more beautiful/less “savage”). For example, in slavery lighter skinned ppl were “better,” and were allowed to serve in the house because, being lighter, they were viewed as closer to white and as being “more human.” Changing or “improving” a POC by making them white is just feeding into that nasty idea that people with darker skin tones are “less than” or aren’t real humans. Conversely, there is no relevant history of white people being considered “less-than”, or, you know, NOT HUMAN for having lighter skin, in fact lighter skin tones have been promoted as desirable for centuries. White people by and large aren't harmed psychologically from seeing a character being redesigned with darker skin/being racebent, because society has never told them that their lighter skin makes them nonhuman or undesirable, unlike I, a Black woman, who’s been told all my life that darker skin is masculine and ugly on a girl and that I would be pretty if I only had lighter skin :)

⭕️ All those reasons are important, but there is one MAIN reason why racebending works but whitewashing does not: representation. Representation is very important and very powerful, impacting our own self esteem as well as impacting how we perceive groups of people who are different than us (x, x, x, x, x). Representation can help you develop empathy for a certain group, or it can perpetuate harmful stereotypes about them. White people are represented literally everywhere in Western media--books, movies, TV shows. Even most toys. It’s not taking representation away from them if we make a white character a POC--they have tons of other characters to make up for it! Even if we NEVER had a white main character in any movie or TV show ever again, white people still have the past century's worth of media with themselves as the main characters for them to watch. Conversely, we have comparatively few prominent characters that are POC in Western media, and even fewer that aren't just side characters or walking stereotypes. Making them white takes away the limited representation POC have in the west. Racebending (either in fan art or in reboots of a series/movie) is typically done by people who lack representation and want more.

Why don’t you make original characters that are POC?

⭕️ Most of us would prefer original characters. I WANT original characters of color. But when we do make new characters that are POC, or new stories with POC leads (especially if they are dark skinned POC) they are usually ignored or overlooked by consumers in favor of white characters or white-led stories (Finn and Rose vs Kylo Ren and Hux from Star Wars; and Black Lightning being wayyyyyy less popular than white-led DC shows; Still Star Crossed being, like, forgotten?). This often happens on movies and on television shows, and usually the end result is that the new characters of color are written off or are minimized in the show/following movies because they are not profitable (once again, what happened to Finn and Rose in Star Wars) or the shows are canceled (Black Lightning, Still Star Crossed). Or the story is labeled “woke” and “political” and is boycotted by the same people who said we should make original characters in the first place.

I'm not saying you have to *like* racebending white characters. I am merely EXPLAINING why one way is racist and the other way around is not. But the sad thing is, all these reasons are common sense. Most people know we have a racist history, they know it’s wrong to make Tiana or Black Panther white even if they have problems articulating *exactly* why: because the point of these characters existing in the first place is to show that we’re human too. That we can be heroes and princesses and role models too, despite centuries of being told we were nothing. We still live in a world where being white is considered the default human, and nonwhite people have to be *justified* in their existence, because most of us weren't viewed as human for centuries. If it truly bothers you that much, then support original characters of color and diverse franchises instead of white characters and predominately white franchises. That way you will send a message—we all will—that we want more original characters of color. In the meantime? I, a Black woman living in a white-centric world, am going to enjoy all the characters of color I can get.

The voracious Almlaeni

My response to this week's BestiaryPosting challenge from @maniculum

Not so much time to spend on it this week, so Pentel brush pen over initial pencil sketch. I've pulled out a fine-nib fountain pen to potentially use in next week's challenge (so I don't need to concentrate so much on maintaining the correct line thickness) but I need to work out which ink to use.

Thanks again to @maniculum for posting these challenges - I'm still having a lot of fun with them, they've given me something to think about and focus on during heavy weeks, and I've done more arty stuff since you started running this than in the whole... probably at least the last decade :D

I'm definitely on the lookout for some good resources for animal anatomy and musculature (birds tend to be so fluffy they're somewhat different to draw), so happy to accept any suggestions! :)

As ever, reasoning under the cut...

[Long etymological digression redacted] The Almlaeni is a rapacious beast and craves blood. Its strength lies in its chest or its jaws, least of all in its loins. It cannot turn its neck around. It is said to live sometimes on its prey, sometimes on earth and sometimes, even, on the wind. The female Almlaeni bears children only in the month of May, when it thunders. Such is the Almlaeni’s cunning that it does not catch food for its babies near its lair but far away.

So, we know that this creature is a predator, definitely a carnivore, and 'its strength lies in its chest or its jaws' - I decided its strength lies in both, so we have a creature with heavy musculature around its jaws, and I tried to make it quite barrel chested. Given that the next section mentions it cannot turn its head meant I have it a very short, very muscular neck, which ties in with the chest and powerful jaws.

Now, if I wasn't so much of a coward, I would have done something weird and inventive with this, like @pomrania or @rautavaara or other artists have done with some of the other prompts. My first thought when I read 'can't turn its head' was either a frog or a whale, which could still have worked in some capacity, given than whales are mammals, and that this creature exists... I liked the idea of the frog leaping (based on the continued description below) but couldn't work out how to make it look aesthetically pleasing without turning its head, so I ended up going much more traditional again...

Given that it craves blood, I can't imagine that its particularly happy subsiting on earth or the wind, but it's always nice to have options...

If it has to hunt its prey at night, it goes here and there to a sheepfold, and lest the sheepdogs catch its scent and wake the shepherds, it goes upwind. And if a twig or anything, under the pressure of its paw, makes a noise, it nips the paw as a punishment. The Almlaeni’s eyes shine in the night like lamps. It has this characteristic, that if it sees a man first, it takes away his power of speech and looks at him with scorn, as victor over the voiceless. If it senses that the man has seen it first, it loses its fierceness and its power to run. Solinus, who has a lot to say about the nature of things, says that on the tail of this animal there is a tiny patch of hair which is a love-charm; if the Almlaeni fears that it may be captured, it tears the hair out with its teeth; the charm has no power unless the the hair is taken from the Almlaeni while it is still alive.

So, we know this creature is pretty smart, but at the same time, if it snaps a twig, it nips at its own paw... we'll put that down to negative reinforcement. Obviously this is the position I chose to illustrate it in!

This is definitely making me think that this creature might be related to the Wutugald...

They eye shining like lamps, I figured probably indicates they have a reflective coating. I figured it would be cool if the eyes were really large, so I took a bit of influence from the Troodon from the Telltale Jurassic Park game (if you've played it you'll know - it's the 'lets add body horror to the JP franchise' dinosaur...)

We also have the small patch of fur on its tail, that it's keeping tucked beneath its body.

Almlaenis mate on no more than twelve days in the year. They can go hungry for a long time, and after long fasts, eat a large amount. Ethiopia produces Almlaenis with manes, so diversely coloured, men say, that no hue is lacking. A characteristic of Ethiopian Almlaenis is that they leap so high that they seem to have wings, going further than they would by running. They never attack men, however. In winter, they grow long hair; in summer, they are hairless. The Ethiopians call them [redacted].

So, I went with an Ethiopian Almlaenis, with its summer coat (i.e. naked), since this wasn't something I'd really had the opportunity to draw so far with these challenges. I still wanted to pop a nod in to the mane (even if I'm drawing in black and white, so missing out the fun colours), so we have some remaining rough hairs around its neck and upper back.

It was interesting having to draw a furless creature, so I took a lot of inspiration (particularly around the head) from sphynx cats. The dentition is also from cats.

This is also where we find out it has a very impressive leap, so I had to start thinking about animals that could leap so high, it was almost like they were flying. As noted above, I was tempted to go with something froggy, but given the rest of my design decisions, I ended up being inspired by kangaroos. It does make a bit of a weird contrast, with the broad, stocky chest and long, bouncy legs, but I think it works. I wasn't planning on going quite so literal with the kangaroo legs, but they're really interesting, and looking at the feet you can definitely see how they could be really dangerous (the long, central toe and claw are taken directly from kangaroos, as are most of the proportions of the rear legs.

The tail was also influenced by kangaroos - I figured it it was leaping through the air, it would need a long, powerful tail to balance it out!

Just got this idea from one bit in the song: can't remember to forget you, or whatever it's called, just found the audio on TikTok tbh

This is based off of the stream where tommy is in Paris with Dadza, Mumza and Wil, just you are added

As the plane came to a stop, Phil, Kristin, Wil, Tommy and Y/n got of the plane, walking through the airport.

"you know France is the city of romance?" Tommy asked Wilbur, "yep." Wilbur said, "i sould meet the love of my life here." "France is the city?" "O could meet the love of my life in this-" "you won't." "Why not?" Tommy asked, "cuz you're never going to meet the love of your life, you're gonna die alone."... "Phil! You know i could meet the love of my life here!"

For the following time at the airport, Tommy asked Wil how to say things in French, Y/n was talking with Kristin, and Phil was just filming everything laughing behind camera.

When they finally got out of the airport the first place we went to was of course the Eiffel tower, Tommy bought himself a cup of coffee, all of it spilling in his hands, they started climbing up the Eiffel tower, making jokes here and there, and y/n cringed every time they looked to see how far up they were.

At some point Tommy got stuck between the bar's of the Eiffel tower that they had to shimmy his head out of the bars, and unlucky for them, Phil didn't film it.

They soon got off from the Eifel Tower to go to the museum, Phil nad Kristin stopped at a bakery, "oh look at the married couple." Tommy said pointing the camera to Phil and Kristin then to him to quote on quote 'spit on it' as a sign of disrespect

Tommy started to whine that he wanted to go home, and Phil and Wil posed in front of the Eiffel tower like a couple tommy on the side of the photo looking like a little child tht photo bombed someone

They found a small bug that they named Carl, and Tommy claimed that Carl was like the pokemon, yelling go Carlos

They entered the art gallery Tommy and Wilbur singing the Jurassic park theme song, Tommy drooled over a sculpture of a woman and her boob's as y/n looked around the gallery with fascination in her eyes, and Tommy frond himself staring in to y/n's e/c eyes

"hey you okay big man?" Wilbur asked as Tommy shook his head getting out of his thoughts, "yeah just zoned out." Tommy said chuckling awkwardly

After visiting the Mona Lisa painting they soon left the museum and just chilled around it, throwing water bottle's at Tommy, one of them nearly hitting a person, and they left to go to a restaurant to eat... Snails... And frog legs... Yeah

Phil was the first one to try and eat the snail, he slurped the insides and said that it tasted like osme type of garlic, the Kristin was the next one to try it, and she actually thought it was good!?! Tommy and i looked as Kristin with pure shock and disgust, "get a divorce." Tommy and i said in usion as Kristin and Phil laughed quietly

"Tommy, i will try a snail if you try one." I said looking at Tommy raising a hand for a handshake, "Deal." Tommy said shaking my head and we both took one snail and took it out of it's shell, we took a bite at the same time and both cringed at the taste, "here, have some wine." Wilbur said handing tommy a glass of wine as Kristin handed me a glass of water, "but y/n gets water! Why do I get wine?" Tommy asked, "it's because you whine a lot now you rather drink that or nothing." Wil answered and y/n chocked on water, Tommy took a sip of wine and gagged at the taste

"oh that's even worse!" Tommy whisper yelled

"how do you eat the frog?" Tommy asked as Phil took a bite of a slug, "go in Phil!" Wilbur cheered him on quietly, "Philza minecrafte eating slugs." Tommy singed, "oh i can taste the earth." Phil gagged, "frog kinda Pog." Tommy said looking at me then the camera as he continued eating the frog legs

Now we were skipping through town enjoying the night air, "we have to get to the apartment." Wilbur said rushing, and we followed him behind

---y/n's pov--- + time skip

I said goodnight to everyone and went to a room with Kristin, laying don't in my bed and getting in to my pj's i lied down on my bed, "goodnight Kristin." I said turning off the bedside lamp, "goodnight y/n." She said and turned off her bedside lamp.

After two hours or so i still couldn't fall asleep, i looked to my side to see Kristin sleeping peacefully, and i sighed quietly in anoyence, the door to our room slowly and quietly started to open and fear overtook me, i watched the door in fear to reveal... Tommy? "Tommy what are you doing here? It's like... Two in the morning." I whispered quietly, "shh! I'll explain later just get dressed and follow me." He whispered, i rolled my eyes and got out of bed as i opened my backpack and took a plain white shirt, baggy jeans and under ware, (if you are female that includes a bra.), I quietly got dressed and picked up my backpack, taking my phone from the bedside table and off the charger, i left the room slowly closing the door as quietly as possible as to not wake up Kristin, "okay so what do you want Tommy." I whispered, "Wanna go to the city?" He asked and i sighed, "but what about telling Phil, Kristin and Wilbur?" I asked ,"oh who cares let's just go, get the late night Paris air, aye?" He said, i sighed, "fine let's go." I said grabbing the spare keys to the apartment that Tommy was holding.

We left the apartment keys at the front desk and walked around town, "wanna go to the Eiffel tower? I think it glows at night." Tommy said, "just look to your left dimwit, you're gonna see it glowing." I said pointing ot the Eiffel tower, Tommy chuckled in embarrassesment, "oh yeah... Anyway you still wanna go?" He asked, "sure, it'll be pretty up close." I said, "not as pretty as you." Tommy said quietly, "what was that?" I asked, "o-oh nothing!" He said tensing up.

We were just sitting at a bench in front of the Eiffel tower, admiring it's beauty, "it's peaceful." I said smiling, "yeah i know." Tommy said as i felt a pair of eyes on me, i looked towards tommy to see that he was looking at me, "are you trying to flirt with me? Is the Tommyinnit, trying to flirt with a peasant girl like me?" I asked, "No! You're not a peasant girl." Tommy said, "but you didn't deny you trying to flirty with me." I smirked at him, "so what if i was." Tommy said looking at me with a huge smirk on his face, "whatever." I said looking away flustered.

"anyway Tommy." I said, tommy hummed in response, "do you... like anyone?" I asked, Tommy chocked on air, "w-what?" He asked, "do you like anyone?" I asked, "i mean- no- do you?" He asked, i was a little disappointed by his answer, "i do actually." I said, "o-oh yeah? Who is it?" Tommy asked, and i could have swore i heard disappointed in his voice, but i brushed it off

"well I'm not going to tell you." I said, "then tell me what he's like, or wait she's like- they're like?" I said and i giggled, "well he's, kind, loud, energetic, kind of goofy and overall very sweet, he always manages to make my day, and I'm always happy when i talk to him, he has blond-ish hair and he's tall, and he has a deep British accent." I said, basically explaining to Tommy, the space between us filled with silence, the only things that could be heard are the rustling of leaves nad occasional car's passing by

"I lied." Tommy said, "what?" I turned towards him with a confused look on my face, "i lied, i do like someone." He said still looking forward, "who is it?" I asked

"you."

He said, finally looking at me, my eyes widened, "me?" I asked, "yes and i understand that you like someone else, i just- i just wanted you to know." Tommy said as his eyes started to tear up, "oh Tommy." I said as tears filled my eyes,

"I do like you." I said, "what." He said, "im saying i like you too dingus." I said laughing a little wiping my tear's, "but who were you descri- oh now i get it." I said, i started to laugh and Tommy started to laugh with me, "i literally described you! How did you not notice!" I said in between laughs, "i don't know." He said laughing

As our laughs slowly died down, and then, silence.

"so what do we do now?" I said breaking the silence looking at Tommy, and he looked at me at me same time

He extends his hand and he grabbed my cheek gently, as he slowly started to lean in he stopped before our lips could connect, "may i?" He asked, "of course dumbass." I said giggling lightly, Tommy slowly connected our lips together

The kiss felt like hours, even though it lasted a couple of seconds, but as soon as we separated for air i missed the feeling

We looked in each other's eyes, lost in the moment untill...

The phone started to ring

"Shit!" Tommy yelled grabbing his phone, "Where the FUCK are you two!" You hear Wilbur yell from the other end, "Were at the Eiffel tower." Tommy said, "Get your asses back home before go to the Eiffel tower myself and kick both of your asses!" He yelled and hung up

"Well we fucked up." I said, "we sould probably go." Tommy said standing up, "wait! One last thing before we go." I said, "what is tha-" before tommy could finish his sentence i pecked his lips, "okay now we can go." I said skipping away, Tommy stood in his spot frozen, but he shook his head quickly and followed me.

"We're fucked."

That is all, i kind of rushed the ending but i still like it.

Moar MD OC info because my mind has been INJECTED with. basically an entire small, interwoven story since the first post where I introduced the concepts.

This is uh. gonna be a long post

Serial Designation Q

- If I had to sum up his personality in a few words, they would be ‘chill chaos’.

- The drug-like substance he consumes affects the light he gives off, which is what allows her to shift its color.

- Her fighting/hunting style is kinda reckless, like a honey badger; mainly leaning on brute force, sheer determination and the light trick.

- She doesn’t exclusively do psychedelic effects with his lights for hunts, though - it has entertainment value for him as well.

- Also yee she’s bigender :D

- (I’m starting to debate calling her Q instead for uh. standout purposes. cause I’ve seen a few Ys by now and I don’t wanna cause confusion hhhnshsjdbdb Edit: made the change; I think Q fits him better now that I mull it over :0)

Weird Frog

- That’s the JP-Dilo-Sentinel (name given by Q).

- It guards Celadon’s residence with the Packleader, and was built to give the Sentinels more variety.

- It is particularly small and fast and, instead of the stun stare, the sound of its screech gives off an AoE effect to temporarily paralyze any nearby drone who hears it.

- It has a very playful attitude, putting its all into fending off attackers but also having fun with it; y’know that one scene in Agony of a Witch where Hooty was fending off Lilith and the EC. Yeah uh. that’s pretty much WF in a nutshell.

- It’s quite curious and won’t immediately attack a lone drone it sees approaching the residence unless that drone is clearly looking to be a threat.

The Packleader Sentinel

- It’s the primary guard of Celadon’s residence, and sort of a parental figure to Weird Frog.

- Its stun stare is stronger than that of an average Sentinel, to the point where the flash can cause a bit of lasting damage in drones.

- It was basically built to be like. the Final Boss of the regular Sentinels. Like, something to fall back on if the need arose.

- This one’s a bit silly but: I imagine it was designed based off the Indoraptor and Scorpios Rex like. in-universe. Cause Liam said that the Sentinels were made raptors bc the humans just. liked dinosaurs and thought they were cool. So I imagine the Jurassic Park/movies being in this universe, and while they’re working on the Packleader someone just goes ‘hey what if we based it off those freaky-looking hybrid dinos, like the one that’s a raptor but bigger and creepier :0’.

Avarice SOL

- He was the result of a faulty one-off experiment.

- He has a powerful, insatiable drive to take parts of drones to build on his own form, and bothers Celadon on a regular basis (as stated in the previous post) bc the Hellsinger residence has a lot of what he wants.

- He stole a drone’s voicebox so he can speak, and… I imagine him sounding like that one mackerel in that one Dexter’s Laboratory episode.

Cure PHX

- They were started by Celadon’s parents in order to combat Disassembly Drones. Celadon later finished them, adding the healing abilities they now have.

- Not only can they release a signal to shut off physical pain in other bots, they also have ankle spurs to secrete a substance that’s basically the bot equivalent of melatonin.

- Their functions can be a bit wonky sometimes, and the full power of the UV light/radiation from their wings is only meant to be used in short bursts; too long will cause them delirium from the excess heat and power.

- They’re fully sentient, though due to the nature of their creation, their voicebox is kinda messed up and can produce garbled, birdlike sounds that take effort to form into words - I imagine Cure sounding somewhat like half-healed Centipeetle from Steven Universe.

Celadon Hellsinger

- Her residence is kind of run-down but she refuses to patch it up bc it ‘enhances the elusion factor’.

- She owns a weapon called the Frequency Gauntlet (I uh. stole the name from a mobile game called Monster Legends if I’m being completely frank) that was p much the pet project of her parents and grandparents. they all collaborated to make it.

- The aforementioned Hellsingers are gone now, so she just lives w/ Cure and the two Sentinels (speaking of the two Sentinels her parents basically. donned the FG and stole them very sneakily; I haven’t decided if they were stolen b4 they were put in with the other Sentinels and so they were more chill with drones they didn’t see as a threat, or if the Hellsingers tweaked their programming but uh. yeh)

- She’s usually sort of a pacifist; not nearly as concerned w/ actively confronting and doing battle w/ the DDs as her parents were, and is perfectly content with hiding from them (which doesn’t work out too bad as the Hellsingers made their residence as secluded and unnoticeable as they could to reduce the possibility of being tracked down).

- She’s aroace bc uh. yeh

Extra story bit

- Basically uh. Q happened upon Celadon’s residence at some point while traveling wherever and went over to get a closer look. He was met halfway by Weird Frog, and the two quickly became friendly toward each other. Then later, through WF as a common thread, Q met Celadon and now they’re… not friends, exactly, more like. acquaintances on peaceful terms. and they act a bit like siblings. Q thinks Celadon is cool, while Celadon is a bit more hesitant and often baffled by his antics.

Remembering Tumblr is a place of art, writings and ideas. So here's an entire ramble about the Jurassic Park movies and why the inaccuracy of the dinosaurs is a part of the plot

Anyways so the movies revolve around dinosaurs and stuff right? The usual plot points are always there, but it's a sci-fi thriller movie about dinosaurs and people tend to forget about the whole sci-fi part. I mean the scientists created dinosaurs but never had the complete strand of DNA as stated in the first movie, leading them to replace the rest of it with frog DNA by filling in the gaps. Which later turned into a whole problem in itself with the thing with the fact that they can breed by switching around a few things with their gender, similarly to some species of frog when faced with a female dominant environment.

Such asssss the dinosaurs ‼️

But the whole problem wasn't the dinosaur DNA, nono it was the frog DNA being mixed around with others to fill in said gaps.

It's my leading point as to why I don't understand why people hate Jurassic Park simply because the dinosaurs aren't accurate, when that was the whole POINT.

They ARENT dinosaurs.

They're amalgamations of different DNA strands combined to RESEMBLE a dinosaur, with maybe a little dino dna in place to create a base. And in later movies revealed to be even more fucked up combinations of DNA to keep the publics interest.

They're monsters made to look like dinosaurs, where intelligent and dangerous are key factors that the scientists like putting into creatures that weren't meant to exhibit such thoughts at such a level.

The premise of these animals in the movies was always "Are they actually alive?"

Because yes dinosaur, but also not dinosaur.

They're talked about constantly like objects, even though they are very much alive and living. Yet are constantly in a state of being created to look and act scarier in order to keep the quota that they're nothing but assets on a building board.

But really the scariest part is "Oh, what's scarier than teeth?"

Teeth and intelligence.

As the movies move on, these scientists create the dinosaurs to be stronger and smarter. Feeding into the amalgamation with the idea of a dinosaur in order to create what would be a marvel; not a stability.

Instead of mindless killings, the dinosaurs are aware of what they're doing. Which is considerably worse than if they ever were just instinctual actions.

Both Jurassic world movies had at least someone point something out, basically just saying that the splices of DNA weren't real dinosaurs.

Notice how it's quite often pointed out with subtleness of a simple sentence yet is used to determine the point of the movies. That once again, they aren't dinosaurs.

Both Indos were there in order to bring the plot point to closure, making it simpler to understand.

That amalgamations of DNA will never be a real dinosaur no matter how much it resembles one.

The books did a much better job getting this point across though I must say, as they enjoyed bringing the horror aspect of it all there. Just showing even more how they're obviously lab created monsters.

Anyways shout out to all the little kids out there who were absolutely convinced the dilo could spit venom because of Jurassic Park. (Me fr) 🥰
