I love how Angel's new song releases with his new voice actor and instead of praising Blake Roman, all these bitches with tumblr badges next to their username can talk about is The Cult of Micheal Kovach and what Kovach is doing with his career and how he's feeling right now.
Like, he's a boring straight ace and both him and his girlfriend eat at chick fil a and watch neo nazi gamer bros on youtube and Ashley talks like she's a nazi anyway. Goodbye. 💀

I hate when terfs try to use intersex people against trans people and they say that ‘oh the transgenders are using them as pawns’ like jeez I’m both trans and intersex and you are a hypocrite. You are literally putting intersex people on your chessboard. You are the ones using us as pawns here.

Real disappointed right now. A user who I previously liked because I thought they had very informed well thought out, and interesting opinions and takes, turned into a full-on bigoted terf. They took a break for a few months, what the hell happened?

I think the main reason why I don't like the term "safe space" is that it makes it sound like offensive things online put people in actual danger.
yeah being called a slur hurts(emotionally) and I get why a person would make sure that doesn't happen... but that's not dangerous?
do people really feel like they'll die if they get misgendered? like a person will inflict harm if they insult you? what does "unsafe" mean in this context?
if it's about stalking and harassment then I don't think running a ( )-free blog will help protect your followers.

women who are abused by their male partners can’t fight back because then they also become abusers, and they can’t stay because then they’re blamed for their abuse, and if they leave or call the cops then their chances of being murdered rise significantly. if they have had children with their abuser, they can’t try to get full custody because then they’re evil bitches who are infringing on the father’s rights, and if the courts decide that it’s okay for an abuser to have access to children and she tries to protect them herself because she knows that it’s not uncommon for abusive husbands to murder their children as revenge after a divorce she’s a child kidnapper and will likely end up in jail before her abuser ever does
i would like to know what solution, if any, does society have for abused women (reposted cause op is a terf, eat your heart out misogynists')

viv: "i fucking hate terfs"
also viv:
Tumblr media
If you're going to say trans rights are human rights, that includes trans men, not just trans women. No, trans men didn't transition out of misogyny. They are actual men who just so happen to be AFAB. That doesn't make them any less of men, nor does it make them women with internalized misogyny. I'm wondering if Viv herself actually has misandry going on and is projecting her own misandry onto trans men....

Antis: Vivziepop on some TERF shit this bullshit man this is such bullshit this such shit this like some JKRowling fucking shit this is some shit she can't hide her shit it's shit!
Antis in the same post, instead of citing sources for these serious claims: *immediately go into some ramble about how they're #triggered by Helluva Boss because they kin Octavia or whatever and then rambling about Finn from Adventure Time for some reason and other kids cartoons I don't watch because I'm an adult.*
Me: *looks at their profile and observes how this specific anti just rambling about children characters in cartoons after calling Medrano a TERF instead of actually citing their sources as to why they believe that, is also a HomeStuck, possibly a HomeStuck Kinne*
BLOCKED.

I honestly just cannot fathom being upset if someone in the notes goes "op is [insert bad thing]"?? Like, why are you mad, if you can't be bothered to go and check and can't be bothered to believe the person then why give a fuck?? Idk, I think it's just the "I've been on the internet for years, I used to be obsessed about blocking bad people, but now I see a post, see op is potentially a bad person, and I simply leave the post" like it's not that fucking hard??? Just do not engage, with EITHER party.

I admit I don't really have the perspective to see why engaging with terfs on the internet is a bad thing, or why "[people I don't like] dni" is a reasonable thing to put in your bio. Like I'm pretty terminally online. I engage with people on the internet regularly on all kinds of subjects, and it's not like I've never run into a person who can't be reasoned with, or never heard the horror stories of people doxxing other people and shit. In fact that kept me quiet on here for a long, long time because I was worried about it happening to me. But like, here's the thing(s):
Ignoring the problem doesn't just magically cause it to go away. Terfs exist, and part of fighting for lgbt rights is convincing those people that you're not insane for being lgbt. I'm not saying lgbt people are insane, but the fact that the opposition believes lgbt people are insane means they have to be convinced otherwise. And besides, if you take the time to understand where they're coming from, you might even find that they do in fact have an explanation. And once you get there, you can start to convince them otherwise
That whole thing where I kept my silence on here because I was afraid of the repercussions? That wasn't the terfs. It was the pro-lgbt groups, the tumblrinas and sjws, who made me the most afraid to speak, and it was because of what is now the nature of this blog, because my misgivings were and are about the philosophy of being trans, because while the terfs will shout their rhetoric at anybody who will listen, the lgbt people will shut up and hide, or worse, attack the new recruits. I've said it before, I'll say it again, but if the lgbt people are performing the oppressive actions while the terfs are accepting the disaffected with open arms, then the flow of new recruits goes in the direction of the terfs. And then we get things like the election of Trump happening.
If you're fighting for lgbt rights, then you have to be willing to talk to, and even understand, the opposition. Because the alternative is losing.

One of the most generally useful things to come out of Hbomberguy's plagiarism video and Todd in the Shadows' similar video on misinformation is how they bring transparency to the internet phenomenon of "I made up a guy to get mad at".
Seriously, I've seen people make up a lot of stupid shit on the internet over the years and it's often just a manipulative attempt to paint a group of marginalized people in a bad light.
That's the TL;DR version of this post.
Tumblr media
ANYWAY here is the long version
Those videos are mostly about James Somerton's plagiarism of other queer people's work. However I'd like to talk about that 20-30% of Somerton's original writing- and oh boy. It's mostly about complaining about White Straight Women and misgendering well-known trans creators such as Rebecca Sugar and calling Becky Albertalli a straight woman while it's pretty common knowledge that she was forced to out herself as bi because she received so much harassment over "being a cishet woman who appropriates LGBT+ stories".
One thing that irks me especially is how in his Killing Stalking and Gay Shipping videos Somerton brings up how straight women/ teen girl shippers exploit gay men for their personal sexual fantasies. This gets brought up several times in his videos.
Being all up and arms about Somerton being a "White Cis Gay Who Hates Women and Queer People tm" is not that useful because the kind of rhetoric he's using is extremely common in fandom and LGBT+ spaces on Tumblr, TikTok and Twitter. We really don't need to bring Somerton's identity to this since he is in no way an unique example.
It's hypocritical to make this about an individual person when I've seen A TON of posts, tweets and videos where queer people talk about these Sinister Straight Women who are supposedly out there fetishizing and exploiting queer men. It's pretty clear to me that this is just an excuse to shit on women and queer people for having any sexual interests. At worst these comments are spreading misinformation about BL, a form of media that has been excessively studied by both Asian feminists and Asian queer women.
This all sounds really familiar and I think it's good that people are calling it out as what it is: misogyny and transphobia. I'd also point out the potentially racist motives behind being this hypervigilant about Asian media.
People can absolutely be misogynist regardless of gender or orientation. I really don't know why we need to create some kind of made up enemy to get mad at. I actually think it's almost sinister how "anti-fujoshi" people call Slash shippers and fujoshi misogynists or claim that they have internalised misogyny while being dismissive about women's interests and creative pursuits under Japanese obscenity laws, China's censorship, book bans in American schools and various other disadvances that are part of being a queer and/or female creator.
I think we shouldn't be naive about the bad faith actors who want to turn queer people against each other. For example Fujoshi.info mentions anti-gender (TERF, GC etc) movement using this kind of rhetoric as well.
Anyway if you want to read more:
- about the false info around BL fandom fujoshi.info
-There is the scholar Thomas Baudinette who studies gay media in Japan. Here is a podcast with him and the scholar Khursten Santos
-James Welker is a BL scholar as well. Here is a podcast interview about the new international BL article collection he edited.
-I've already talked about this Youtube channel by KrisPNatz and his great Killing Stalking video that actually engages with the themes of the manhwa
- There is also HR Coleman's thesis DO NOT FEED THE FETISHIZERS: BOYS LOVE FANS RESISTANCE AND CHALLENGE OF PERCEIVED REPUTATION where she interviews 36 BL fans and actually breaks down why fetishization has become such a huge talking point in the fandom discourse. Spoilers, it's mostly about young queer people and women being worried that they will get judged and pathologized for their interest in anything sexual.
-Great podcast about Danmei and censorship with Liang Ge
