Hypixel Technoblade memorial in spring (or early summer I guess)
Image description: (under cut because it’s very very long)
A series of screenshots of the Technoblade memorial and its surroundings. It’s hidden in a remote corner of the farming area behind the white cliffs of a mountain with diorite slopes. There is a melon-headed scarecrow in the potato field on the way there. Flowering cherry and apple trees, blooming in pink and white, frame a sandstone-walled canal that leads to the sea on the right, from which a boat with cyan sails is approaching. A simple dirt path leads you to the memorial, sheltered by the trees.
The memorial itself is a small, roofless, temple-like structure made out of stone bricks and polished andesite. The front is a little bit overgrown with roses and poppies. Big iron braziers made of anvils and hoppers decorate the gate and provide light with their fires. The floating text over the entrance says [PIG+++] Technoblade Memorial, with his name and rank in pink while the rest of it is light blue.
As you step inside, it’s a mix of the natural white diorite rocks of the mountain and the man-made grey structures flowing together organically. The floor is cobblestone and andesite but on each side and on top of the elevated ground there are patches of potato plants and rose bushes. Behind the white rocks there are more flowering trees. A big pink cherry tree partially covers the area with its canopy, like a natural roof.
On your left, slightly elevated, there’s a carving in the stone that forms the shape of a ribbon, with purple wool behind it, to represent the lavender ribbon of cancer awareness. it’s framed by torches placed in front of it.
Directly in front of you, at the back of the small temple, is a sort of altar shaped like a giant throne. Its back is red, decorated with an elaborate stone frame. On either side of the “backrest” there are hopper braziers blazing with fire. There are also sorts of shelves on the frame that are decorated with grey stone pig heads that face slightly inwards towards the Technoblade statue which of course stands in the middle of the altar or throne on a pedestal. The pedestal is stone and decorated with another lavender ribbon. The statue itself is also grey stone, but the crown is golden and gem-encrusted and the sword he holds up is diamond. His cloak has been depicted flowing in the wind.
(I’m also in one of the pictures, standing in front of the throne in reverse F5. I’m just a bespectacled skeleton in a teal 19th century suit and violet bowtie.)

Nun Irina Headcanons
Tumblr media
"... Forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil."
Warning: There may be sensitive topics, please use discretion when reading this
Tumblr media
"Repent...
Repent...
Repent...
Repent..."
Lucky was the young golden woman for having been educated throughout her childhood based on the pain of punishment, with a heightened tolerance for pain, there was nothing that could cause her more anguish and burning pain than being exiled from her family to one of the harshest monasteries as punishment for her disobedience.
Stubborn and rebellious woman, just like that man, bearer of her last name.
"Repent for your actions."
An impact tore through her ivory complexion, moist and flushed by the crimson that dripped down her flesh.
"Beg our Lord's forgiveness, sinner. Pray for his mercy."
Another bang resounded on the cold balcony, making the female body weep inconsolably to cover her nude with the red liquid like a satin cloth.
"...Remember, Lord. Your compassion and mercy which you showed long ago. Do not recall the sins and failings of my youth. In your mercy remember me, lord, because of your goodness..."
A growl muffled by the sharp bite to his bottom lip. Irina squirmed while holding her arms up holding two buckets of cold water.
Blurred by the drops of cloudy water that seeped into her emerald eyes, the new member could barely see the panorama that the high tower of the monastery offered her.
"... Wash me from my guilt, and cleanse me of my sin."
"Repent...
Repent...
Repent..."
The arrival at the sacred temple was not the best experience for Irina, since all those privileges that she knew from the commonality of her life as a noble, or even as a relevant figure in fashion, had vanished just by having set foot in its artisan soil of rocks and stones of andesite and slate.
All the luxuries that she could afford were taken away and replaced by old and used clothing, causing the woman to want to rip off her own skin at the slightest thought of wearing something full of someone else's dirt rubbing against her body.
The blonde has a great talent for studying her surroundings and shaping her attitude so that, thanks also to her charisma, she can blend in with the group and gradually stand out. However, the rebellious spirit with ambitions to challenge all the existing authorities to implement her own order, were always a headache for one of the nuns responsable for putting order and teaching the new members of that monastery to be ideal believers of God.
The orthodox religion was very heavy and rooted in the written words of the old Bibles, being taken literally. A good opportunity for Irina to manipulate the book at will for her convenience, once she doesn't have any obstacles.
"I hope that God has mercy on your soul and can welcome you into his kingdom, for you are one of his faithful daughters despite having used his name in vain so many times to do evil."
"Repent...
Repent..."
Irina, after finishing her training, specialized more in the choir of churches, monasteries and chapels, since by being able to transmit emotions through serenades that came to influence a person, she was capable of influencing a strong melancholy in people. who listened to her until they cried. This is very pleasing for the higher positions since after all, their religion was based on the sorrows, fear and suffering of the weakest so that they would not stop pursuing God's mercy.
In addition, Irina was one of the favorite helpers of several priests for her gentleness and divine and pure appearance, assimilating to an angel or even, little by little being considered as the physical representation of Mary Magdalen.
Beyond the hypocritical and false appearances that Avenel gave to others. She took advantage of her singing and influence to be able to blackmail the lambs of God in order to be the wolf that sullied them before the very eyes of the shepherd.
"Sin is necessary, because without evil good would not exist, and why would we need God then? Just let yourself be carried away by the whisper of the devil and repent before God for his forgiveness."
Some believers disappeared at least once a week, supposedly having been enlightened to follow the path of the Lord to his kingdom. Is it possible that the red corrupted floor and walls have allowed their soul to transcend to the gates of heaven, or have they been devoured by the arid hell to be eternally punished?
Perhaps that warm smile was hiding a malicious grin waiting for you to fall into her clutches.
"Let me help you meet God. You will be appropriately punished for your actions and once you are purified, you will be left in charge of the Lord's court."
"Repent."
Eyes flew open with her breath so heavy she could feel her heart pounding against her chest. It had felt like a nightmare.
The realization hit almost as hard as the cold blizzard that froze her face while that female voice tormented her ears.
"Are you already thinking about ending your life, Sor? I didn't imagine that I could really cause you so much grief with your favorite melody. How sad..."
A mocking smile let the sharp white ivories light up with the clear moonlight, almost as brilliant as her green emeralds.
"Repent. Repent for having had the audacity to let me bleed for your punishments, for leaving me marks of your lessons, and for believing that you had the privilege of doing so. Maybe, just maybe, I'll have enough mercy to spare your pathetic life."
Murmurs accumulating thousands of various prayers began to come out of the old woman's mouth, on the edge of the balcony of the tower where she used to humiliate the blonde to bring down her rebellion. She would only be saved from certain death thanks to the strong grip of her old nightgown, the young woman digging her nails deep into the fabric.
"Sor Irina, do not let the devil incite you to regret in the house of God, our lord. Do not murder, because you will break one of his sacred commandments in his presence. Do not let yourself fall into the temptation of evil, and do good. Open your eyes to the word of God and —"
The tearing sound of tissues parting was as sharp as scissors breaking the thread of life.
For the first time, the blonde was not afraid of heights, and she was able to lean over the precipice to see with a non-existent expression how the body of her problem fell at great speed until it crashed against the clay roof of one of the chapels until breaking into it.
The smell of iron was able to reach her nostrils, and she was able to hear her groans of agony.
Impaled on the cross of the altar upside down, the old woman slowly died while she felt how her blood left her body until it dyed the white marble floor with that impure bright red, having only at that moment the classic paintings of religious deities to cry and lament her end.
Turning around, Irina left the balcony with a satisfying smile to be able to sleep peacefully before the disappearance of the obstacle that was bothering her the most.
"Perhaps your Lord will be good enough to send someone to discover your corpse before it rots to sleep in that old chapel. Perhaps he will even allow you to be recognized and made a grave... Or perhaps, you will be entombed in solitude in those rubble."
"Repent for your actions, and I will be happy to chain you in the depths of hell."

i made another spell
this one breaks the focused block (or, with a bit of modification, any block) if its one of the ones in the list, i intend to use this for stuff like mining (letting it break stone, dirt, andesite, netherrack, etc, but leaving the good stuff to be manually mined with fortune) or for cleaning out geodes (jewellers hammer is nice and all but clearing out the regular amethyst blocks to expose more budding amethyst can be Risky somteimes (ive broken budding amethyst doing that before))
the red part is the setup; this can be changed as long as its in the format of like <list of Hexal types, vector>, this one just does focused thing
the grene copies the vector so it can be used by both blue and pink (and it shoves the copy under the list)
the blue checks to see if the vector on top of the stack is one of the ones in the list; it uses locator's dist and adds 1 so that it returns 0 if not present (-1 + 1), or anything else if present; then it uses augurs purif (0 becomes false, anything else becomes true) to turn it into a bool
the pink section takes that bool and if it's true, breaks the block in the vector under that bool (put there previously by the green thing), and if false just ignores it and removes the vector without doing anything else
(probably partly inspired by this spell that candyisntmyname made to harvest her amethyst farm)

I know Mojang JUST announced the cherry blossom biome and I’m sure they aren’t done with it yet, but I’m really hoping they make the biome look a little more... wild? Some tall grass and ferns would go a long way in making it a little more visually interesting, imo. Block variation (like the mega taiga or wooded badlands) would also be nice! I can easily imagine patches of coarse dirt or sand breaking up the monotony of the grass. (Actually, I think sand would be very nice: it would keep with the current garden/grove vibes very well.) Stone or andesite boulders would be cool too!

Summer and wildflowers come late to the high elevations of the Cascade Mountains. In the sub-alpine meadows, snow might linger into July some years. This makes building and maintaining roads to the sub-alpine elevations quite challenging.
Tumblr media
One of these challenging roads is the road stretching 10 miles from the White River Campground turn-off up to the Sunrise Visitor Center; the Sunrise Road. Currently, the Sunrise Road is still closed from the winter. Typically, it opens in early July after road crews have plowed the snow off, cut up any trees that fell across the roads, removed rocks, dirt, and done everything needed to make the road safe for summer access.
Tumblr media
Can you imagine what it was like to build the Sunrise Roads in 1929? In the 10 miles from White River Campground to Sunrise parking lot, the road climbs up the steep sides of the White River Valley. Carved by the once 1,000 foot tall Emmons Glacier, it is a very steep slope. The hillside is made of rocks, boulders, and fine materials left behind by the Osceola Mudflow nearly 5,600 years ago. Higher up, it’s hardened lava from volcanic eruptions. In 1929, through 4 different construction contracts, crews worked their way upwards carving the road out of the mountain. The road was completed the next year and construction began on the infrastructure and buildings at Sunrise.
Tumblr media
Though closed right now, when it opens for the summer, the Sunrise Road and the many trailheads at Sunrise itself are very popular and have been for many decades. When was the last time you drove up this road along the valley walls of the White River? What is your favorite spot for pictures? ~ams
The Sunrise Road and White River Campground are currently closed. Updates on their opening can be found at https://www.nps.gov/mora/planyourvisit/road-status.htm and https://www.nps.gov/mora/planyourvisit/hours.htm . For more information on the history and archaeology of the park, see https://www.nps.gov/mora/learn/historyculture/index.htm

Historian Notes No. 4
The Tower
It has come to my attention that the craggy spire of rocks next to the Portal/lake is not a malevolent spike from the depths of the world, but the crumbling and mossy ruins of a tower and keep. The tower appeared to have been made out of stone brick and andesite, with only modest decorations at the top and middle sections. Only one corner of the tower remains, the rest completely collapsed or taken over by the elements. There appears to be windows, but no doors, but the inside of the tower is completely filled with dirt and moss, perhaps a cave in can be assumed? In a funny sort of ironic memory, a singular tree grows up at the top of the tower, reminiscent of a flag flying from it's masts. While the tower had been somewhat salvaged from the elements, mostly due to it's height, the keep is another story. This large building is barely visible in the landscape, covered in dirt and debris up to the ramparts. A large dome section suggests it was perhaps used for stargazing, which was common for a strange secular building built in a clearing during the time period. The only thing that remains somewhat unburied in this keep is a long covered walkway by the lakeside. While still holding a semblance of modesty, these arches and decor seem much more intricate than the tower.
I wish I could go inside the buildings to explore what wonders they may contain, but that would be unobtainable unless I would like to do a lot of digging..

Cub's speedrunning streams have got me in a grindy mood ngl. Ya boi's been busy building things. There's this village about 400 blocks or so east of the pyramid, and I wanted a break from the mansion and pyramid builds, so I went to work on the village.
I made a lil starter house bc I needed to cut down all the trees lol, and made a lil stable for my horse. Then I built the fortress above, based on this fortified desert storage barn, but with a stone and andesite block palette to match the village.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The fortress itself is a work in progress but it's doing a good job of being a storage barn rn lol. The upper floor really just has a bed and a lil chest and a crafting bench bc I am being Lazy about Interiors atm. But it'll do.
Tumblr media
Mostly I wanted it so I could link it up to a mining area underneath the fortress. I plan to add an autosmelter in here, as well as some other bits and pieces, but I haven't got to those yet. I only just dug the mine down to bedrock.
This tunnel goes all the way through from the starter house and goes the hill and meets up on the other side. Kind of near where Zed's mountain is. (I'm playing on the hc9 seed bc why wouldn't I? >_>)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I've build most of the walls and towers and the lighthouse thingie by the water over the past two days. I took elements from the fortress design and reused those for the walls and towers and also for this lighthouse thing above. Most of this was done in creative, though the land clearing for the wall was done in survival and now I have nearly three double-chests of dirt in case anyone wants any. >_>
My motivation for setting up the village is to ensure free-roaming villagers in a contained area, but also to give us some xp sources bc we play on peaceful so no mob grinders for us, so there's crop farms I need to work on at some point as well as get some more houses built on the cleared land so there's room for more villagers. I also want to improve the villager houses as well, and make them a lil bigger maybe. Still keep the palette of stone and oak, but work on a nicer style. Also make paths. And maybe eventually I will do some interiors. XD
Also I created the river by the lighthouse to make it into a port town, and I may build some ships in the river maybe if I find some designs I like. >_>
Tumblr media
also this sits across from the river which I'm sure is fine, right? (we have fire tick off but still. XD) /bedrock generation ftw
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I did a lot of caving today and found myself an amethyst geode not far from the village, so I'm going to set that up as a farm eventually, but I did get the aesthetics for the entrance done today. :D idk I just went off vibes, and wasted too long farming spruce before realising I didn't actually want to use spruce or actually have a building around the entrance so. XD
And yeah you can see how close the amethyst farm is to the village. I've got the water streams for access done, and cleared out all the basalt and calcite and the regular amethyst, so now it's just setting up the farm itself.
Please also enjoy the sunflowers covering the base of Zed's mountain. bc apparently that's the bedrock seed for you wooo I am Fine and Normal about having so many sunflowers nearby absolutely fine. ;_;

Minecraft Items Challenge Attempt 2: The Bountiful Update: Part 1
Welcome to the Bountiful Update, this is another one of the most played old versions of Minecraft if you want to play a version of the game that has really shitty combat. It's also the last update before an extremely long time with no updates, and the first update in the Microsoft Era
Tumblr media
New world selection screen. Still no world thumbnails.
Tumblr media
Oh goodie, my skin is complete!
Tumblr media
My Alpha Slabs have broken, and will remain that way until Update Aquatic.
Tumblr media
After the time I spent fishing last update, I think I might have too many saddles.
Tumblr media
This update added a bunch of new Wood Blocks, so I thought it would also add better signs, but apparently those weren't added until Village & Pillage
Tumblr media Tumblr media
New Collection Section out of Red Sandstone. It was either this or prismarine, which would be a better choice, but it would stop me from building the Collection Section until after I've raided an ocean monument.
Tumblr media
I then crafted up all of the new Stone blocks, and I have to say the crafting recipes for Diorite, Andesite, and Granite have to be the most obscure recipes in the game
Tumblr media
Up next is banners, only the 16 basic ones instead of the 12.7 quattuordecillion types that you can make with dyes, I built a little cow pen because I've noticed that animals are spawning less and less frequently around my base, and I want a consistent source of food for when I get to bigger updates like The Combat Update and those that make up Modern Minecraft
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Also, my nether portal is broken, unfortunately it will not stay that way for long, when I go into the nether for Magma Blocks in the Frostburn Update the portal will fix itself
Tumblr media
In this post I added the Birch Fence, Birch Fence Gate, Birch Door, Spruce Fence, Spruce Fence Gate, Spruce Door, Jungle Fence, Jungle Fence Gate, Jungle Door, Acacia Fence, Acacia Fence Gate, Acacia Door, Dark Oak Fence, Dark Oak Fence Gate, Dark Oak Door, Cut Red Sandstone, Red Sandstone Stairs, Red Sandstone, Red Sandstone Slab. Chiseled Red Sandstone, Diorite, Andesite, Granite, Polished Diorite, Polished Andesite, Polished Granite, Armor Stand, Iron Trapdoor, Chiseled Stone Bricks, Coarse Dirt, Slime Block, White Banner, Light Gray Banner, Gray Banner, Black Banner, Brown Banner, Orange Banner, Yellow Banner, Lime Banner, Green Banner, Cyan Banner, Light Blue Banner, Blue Banner, Purple Banner, Magenta Banner, Pink Banner, and Red Banner.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Up next I raid an Ocean Monument, before swimming was added, this is going to be hell.

-September 14th, Plantperson Journal, Entry 12-
There's another balance change today.
NERF: Player gains 0.05 exhaustion every 10 ticks while in hot/cold biomes (equivalent to jumping twice every second).
VISUAL: "Thermosensitive" power (responsible for effects in hot/cold biomes) has been renamed to "Wilting", its effect is unchanged (apart from the nerf listed above).
There was going to be another visual change where the player's skin would appear grayer while thermosensitive/wilting is active, but unfortunately origins:model_color only has RGBA parameters, and not HSV.
Anyway...
I think I'm going to start today by going over to the village so I can grab some acacia wood from the nearby savanna.
I don't need it for anything at the moment, I just want to have it so I can be closer to getting every wood type.
Acacia wood has been acquired, so now the only wood types I'm missing are jungle, bamboo, and crimson.
Anyway, I'd like to build a blacksmith's workshop but I don't have a design for one.
Instead of making a design for a blacksmith's workshop, I'm going to start a quarry to get cobblestone because I'm probably going to end up needing that and I only have 35.
The quarrying trip resulted in 7 stacks plus 15 cobblestone, 3 stacks plus 20 andesite, 1 stack of granite, 1 stack plus 54 gravel, 1 iron, and 23 copper.
After putting away all the stuff I got and heading back down there, I got 12 stacks plus 26 cobblestone, 30 gravel, 4 dirt, 9 flint, 26 coal, 5 iron, and 33 copper.
If you couldn't tell, I'm basically trying to pad out the journal entry to hide the fact that I'm procrastinating making a design for a blacksmith's workshop.
Anyway, I don't think there's anything else I can do to pad out the journal entry right now, so I'm just gonna end it here.

Me and my friends have been playing Minecraft together for the past couple of days and, after trying out mud blocks (specifically the bricks) for a bit, I think they are not only one of my favorite blocks, but one of the most overlooked blocks for Minecraft, period.
The main reason I like mud so much is because it’s a nice brown block that isn’t a wood or dirt, and as such, I think it’s such a good bridge between it and many other blocks, especially sandstone, acacia wood, and jungle wood, blocks I never really bothered with before because I had a hard time finding nice secondary blocks to compliment it, but now with mudstone I have much more of a reason to actually use such blocks, and I’m exited to see what other blocks I can use with mudstone with a bit more experimenting, especially since my base is actually going to be a series of smaller, seemingly disconnected, builds that jut out of a eroded badlands pilled, that are actually connected together on the inside, so I can work with a very diverse pallate
It’s especially refreshing as over the past couple of years, my builds have largely been dominated over the same couple of pallates, usually consisting of stone bricks, andesite, deepslate, blackstone, dark oak, oak, spruce, crimson wood, and mangrove, but mud blocks have really given me an incentive to break out of this comfort zone and try new things
Initially I never bothered with mud, largely due to me not really liking the texture of base mud (seriously, I know mud can be purple-ish sometimes, but-), not really understanding how to reproduce it, and an over attachment to mangrove wood (still my favorite wood, fight me lol), but now I kinda regret overlooking it in the past, but I still have some issues with it, mainly it’s reproductiveness
Ok, so, the way you replicate mud, or, hell, make mud obtainable outside of mangroves period, is that you have to take a bottle of water, and use it on a dirt block, a very tedious process, especially in large quantities, especially since (although this may be due to a geyser glitch or an aternos hiccup or something) some of the dirt blocks just outright dissapear from existence instead of converting to mud, it’s something that has happened to me, and my friends also report seeing nothing where the dirt blocks once were, so it’s definately not some lag on my end, I hope, but I see nothing on the wiki that mentions this
That’s it really, actually, while I’m talking about Minecraft blocks, the new cherry wood sucks don’t @ me, the logs are ok but the planks are far too bright, I would have loved a more muted pink, not this blindingly bright shit

Working on the cove, and trying to figure out the best way to do the upper area where the rock meets the dirt
I mean the best way would probably be if I could take like quarter blocks of dirt and stone and weave them into each other so you had like a 3/4 dirt with a 1/4 stone in the bottom left for instance, but we're working in vanilla, not modded
So I'm not gonna rush it or anything, and also I figure that when I texture it making sure it's cobble and andesite not smooth stone might help, but this is kind of what I'm working with so far
So I'm open to criticism on this, specifically relating to like those stone slabs and stairs supporting the dirt in spots, not sure how I feel about how it looks

Minecraft Hacks - download
Tumblr media
💾 ►►► DOWNLOAD FILE 🔥🔥🔥 Sometimes when Minecraft players want to focus on another aspect of the game other than survival, it's best to find mods and different add-ons for the game that can help speed up the more tedious tasks in Minecraft, like mining and finding the blocks players need. Here are some of the best XRay mods out there for the game today for players to use to enhance their gameplay and get to making what they want to make quickly. These mods and upgrades have so many aspects to them besides XRay, which can be useful in a multitude of ways. Although this is not a mod, it is easily the best Minecraft texture pack for X-Raying. This works best with optifine or fullbright so the player can see what ores they are mining to. The best part of this texture pack is how it allows players to see the edge pixels of the block they are facing, allowing them to differentiate between dirt, stone, andesite, diorite, and more. This is a great texture pack that can allow players to get diamonds, iron, and every ore they could've ever wanted almost immediately. Download here. This mod is absolutely amazing as it allows players to do so many things besides XRay. This mod allows players to use fullbright, fly, speed and jump boost, and so many more. The one downside to this mod is the limited amount of game versions it is available for. Besides that fact, this is a great mod for players who like to cheat in their Minecraft worlds to make it as easy for them as possible. It brings a completely new level of convenience to the game, which is desired when focusing on other aspects of the game rather than basic survival. The Rift Xray Mod works wonders for finding ores, caves, and basically any block that a player can desire. With multiple XRay modes, players can search for ravines, cave systems, strongholds, and mineshafts if they would like, or they can search for specific ores they are looking for. This mod also comes with an added, but optional, fullbright feature to use for those players who always forget to make enough torches for their mining trips. This mod truly has it all. This specific mod has a bunch of options so players can search for any block they wish to find around their Minecraft world, making it really handy to have. Block searches are saveable and toggleable, so players can search for them whenever they want without doing so many different steps. They can add any block they want from the game into their search menu. This means, hypothetically, that if a player is looking for a specific biome like a mooshroom biome, for example , the player can search for a specific block of that region to find that area quicker. This mod, aptly named "XRay Mod," is a wonderful mod that encaptures everything that the previous mod did and adds more. Not only does this mod have a block finder that works in a specific radius, but it also has fullbright, flight, and a couple more options for players to experiment with. This mod truly has it all when it comes to X-Raying, as it allows players to find ores, blocks, caves, and generated structures with ease. This truly is one of the most convenient mods made for the most recent update of Minecraft, and it is definitely something to check out if in the market for a mod like this. to those who carried on
A fic for @petrichormeraki and their Hermit!Tommy AU.
-------
The hermits know Tommy as a quiet young man who is very sad and contemplative. The more time they spend with him (against his will, but they know he needs the company) the more they learn of the little details. His favorite block is cobblestone, he likes building towers, and apparently his favorite woman is the Queen. They don’t ask why he wears a smiley mask even though he never seems happy. They don’t ask why he hides important things in his ender chest. They don’t ask why he wears a shattered compass on a chain about his neck.
(Once, he died in lava and lost his absolute mind. He was so upset about the compass that he didn’t even mention the stack and a half of diamond ore he had on him. Xisuma ended up manually rolling back the server just so Tommy could have it back.)
As time goes on, the tremors in Tommy's hands grow lesser. His dull blond hair seems a bit brighter, his bruises fade quicker, he doesn’t look quite so skinny-- he spends his time serenely building, resource gathering instead of running and fighting. He has a sense of humor under all that trauma, which the hermits unfortunately find out after another massive-scale prank war thought to be instigated by Grian actually turns out to be Tommy's fault.
Tommy starts swearing more. Doc gets the stink eye from Stress for this, but Doc insists he’s never once sworn around the young man. (That’s an absolute lie, but it wasn’t anything Tommy hadn’t heard before. Tommy thinks Doc is remarkably unoriginal in his cursing. He does take note of the German ones, though.)
Inviting Tommy to PvP minigames can be touchy, they learn. He likes to fight, but he fights like an animal with nothing to lose. Grian once chanted, “It stays in the pit!” and everyone present had to spend the next five minutes wrangling Tommy’s soul back into his body from wherever it’d floated off to.
Tommy likes to glide with his elytra. He claims he’s never had one before, but he flies like such a natural that a few people have their doubts. On a dark desert night, with dark blue eyes watching the night sky, he confides to Cub that it reminds him of the way his dad used to fly. He hates rockets, though. He does not confide to Cub that it reminds him of what his brother did to his best friend. He says enough that Cub can guess, though.
Scar gets fed up with Tommy’s creeper holes and makes Tommy help him fix them. At first, Tommy has no clue why Scar is breaking out things like coarse dirt and birch leaves and making the ground all fancy, but he’s not afraid of a little hard work and Scar makes it fun. He learns a lot about terraforming that day, and awkwardly comes back a few days later asking if Scar needs any more help terraforming. Tommy still hasn’t built a real base, not by Hermitcraft standards, but the small hill he’s built his dirt hut near now has a very beautiful, if amateurish, waterfall. He doesn’t tell Scar about this, but Scar finds out anyway. Tommy wakes up one morning to find that someone has left a shulker box in his house. Instead of iron-gripped paranoia, he just feels wonder that someone would give him a gift-- to the hermits, a single shulker box is nothing. To Tommy, it’s everything.
The shulker box contains coarse dirt, birch leaves, and a silk touch shovel.
Tommy helps Xisuma mine a giant hole in the ground near bedrock, because he realizes that he’s never thanked the admin for getting him his compass back. Well, that and the fact that instamining with a haste two beacon and an efficiency five pickaxe is a novelty. Xisuma lets him keep the cobble, since everyone knows it’s Tommy’s favorite block, but also insists he keep some of the other blocks like andesite and diorite. He pats Tommy on the head and tells him to talk to Bdubs about building a house some time. Tommy nods. He's taken aback by how tall Xisuma is, completely contrasting his mild nature. He reminds Tommy of Wilbur, on one of his good days before... Before. Not Ghostbur, though-- the admin is much too alive.
Tommy waits too long, so eventually Bdubs comes to him. The man is silly and outrageous, playing everything for laughs and unexpectedly tender. Bdubs plays up how beautiful he thinks Tommy’s hideous dirt shack is, then offers to help him build a house that’s better. For Tommy, building a house means settling down, accepting that this is his home now. Bdubs doesn’t know this. Tommy builds cobblestone dicks while Bdubs tries to lecture him about depth and block variation. Nothing gets done and Bdubs feels like he might have failed, but come next week Bdubs is flying over the area and sees the dicks are gone; so is the dirt house. In its place is a spruce-and-cobble cottage nestled near the tiny waterfall. Off to the side, he’s made a cozy doghouse for his fox, Theo. Bdubs doesn’t know how close that fox came to being named Fundy.
He spars with False, and she very pointedly does not mention how his stances are uniquely suited to a piglin. There’s only one renowned fighter who’s a piglin, after all. It's Tommy’s story to tell, if he ever does, why he’s seen enough of the legendary Technoblade’s fights to pick up on his stances, yet he’s not experienced enough to know that they don’t suit him. Instead, False gives him different stances suited more for tall, skinny people like the two of them. She’s got blond hair and blue eyes just like him. (Not that she’d know. She’s never seen his eyes, hidden behind his mask as they are.) Every now and then, he imagines her as an older sister, and the one time he says so, she smiles. When Tommy’s at home, looking at his own distorted reflection in his waterfall (he’s improved it since he built it), he muses that their eyes aren’t the same, their hair colors are subtly off. It’s close enough, he thinks.
Stress dies from fall damage and Tommy goes out of his way to pick up her stuff, because the hermits do these things out of the kindness of their hearts. The thought never even crosses their minds to steal. It crosses his mind. He doesn’t do it. Stealing from Stress would be like stealing from Niki.
He shows up at Cleo’s base unannounced and demands to see the “cool shit”. He is appropriately enthused by the giant armor-stand-bugs. She tries teaching him her armor stand magic, but it doesn’t really sink in. It’s okay, she assures him, most people don’t have the knack for it. He does, however, learn that buttons make excellent decorations. He also learns how to braid hair, bribed by ice cream. He is terrible at it, to the point where Joe has to come by to help the two untangle her hair so Tommy can start again. Watching the two bicker over capitalism and six million armor stands and a whole host of other inside jokes he doesn’t get, he thinks he’s starting to understand what friendship is supposed to be like. Joe and Cleo don’t see him clutching his compass. He and Tubbo weren’t too far off from this, given their circumstances. Maybe...
Maybe Tubbo can be forgiven.
Tommy makes minigames of his own, ones that don’t just kill you and steal your stuff. He builds things that are pretty instead of just functional, brews potions with Stress and only calls them drugs once (again, upsetting her is like upsetting Niki. Best not done), and sets up chicken bombs above people’s bases instead of just lavacasting them. (As Grian saw the hundreds of chickens slowly raining down upon his mansion, he got such a peculiar look on his face that Tommy feared he’d fucked up. The shorter, stronger (much stronger oh god why is he so strong despite being so small) man nearly crushed Tommy’s lungs in a hug, proclaiming how proud he was of Tommy. Tommy was proud of himself for not accidentally murdering Grian out of reflex. Was this what healing was like?)
Yes. It is what healing is like. Tommy knows this because that wound gets ripped open again. Tango shows him how to build the most obnoxious redstone-powered noise machine the two can think of. Tango digs a small pit, and asks Tommy to throw down his axe. Suddenly, Tommy’s in Logstedshire again; it’s not Tango asking, it’s Dream. His hands don’t shake when he tosses his axe into the pit, followed by his sword and his armor. It isn't until he’s placed the TNT down that Tango grabs his wrist and asks him what he’s doing. Tommy’s eyes clear enough that he can see past the blond hair and freckles. Tango isn’t green, he’s red. He's shorter than Dream, and his worried eyes are unhidden. Tommy shudders, then tells Tango everything.
Tango has no pity for Tommy, just understanding and sympathy. He doesn’t push Tommy to talk about it, but when Tommy’s done telling his story, Impulse and Zedaph show up. They all pretend that Tommy’s voice isn’t hoarse, that they all didn’t conveniently happen to look away when Tommy took off his mask just long enough to wipe his eyes. The men bake a cake together, fool around with honey blocks, and don’t talk about it.
Tommy knows very little about redstone, considers himself more of a builder and a fighter than an engineer. Still, Mumbo’s living base is inspiring, and Tommy often hangs around the man’s industrial district just to watch Mumbo work. Mumbo knows that Tommy hasn’t purchased a day pass, but it’s nice having someone around to talk to while he works. It’s not like Tommy is stealing anything. (Tommy totally steals from Mumbo’s industrial district storage system. The man’s farms are so efficient that he doesn’t even notice, so Tommy assumes it’s fine. What Mumbo doesn’t know won’t hurt him.)
Lava still isn’t his favorite thing in the world. He stays far away from it, instead of imagining what it would be like to hurtle towards it. Ren doesn’t really notice this, but he does notice that Tommy doesn’t seem to like his mustafarian base. On a spur-of-the-moment whim, Ren whips up some absurd plotline in which he is a lone weary traveller seeking refuge at Tommy’s base from strange alien overlords. The two have fun together, and the young man cracks more absurd jokes about it than the hermits have ever seen him do. When Ren leaves a week later to return to his own base, Tommy keeps being absurd, if a bit more subdued without someone to play off of. He builds a shrine to the “prime log”, which grows more elaborate each day. Beef and xB pretend to be his acolytes, despite having no clue what a “twitch prime” is.
They can’t see his face, but the smile in his voice is a far cry from the despondency he once wore like a heavy cloak. He is so much more animated and alive, full of motivation. He builds an entire island in three days, and hand-delivers an invitation to each and every hermit for his beach party. Everyone shows up, even those with packed schedules (Iskall) and those with introverted tendencies (Etho). Tommy is nearly moved to tears when they show up in groups of twos and threes, as though he hadn’t expected anyone to come. There aren’t enough chairs for everyone, but there is more than enough cake to go around. Tango brings drinks, Impulse brings meat to barbecue, and Zedaph makes an elaborate jump-powered grill. Keralis brings way too much confetti and several handfuls of cheap, obnoxious party noisemakers. Stress brings Tommy a crown made out of alliums. It shines far less than his brother’s gold crown, and it’ll die in a few days, but he wears it all night and keeps it in his ender chest until it withers away.
He spends five days teaching himself to make flower crowns. Even his best attempt is awful, nowhere near as pretty as the crowns Stress makes, but when he gives it to her, she takes off the one she was wearing and wears his until it falls apart.
He dies fighting a creeper on Grian’s behalf, and doesn’t even panic, because he trusts that however many times he dies, no matter how stupid or ignominious or revolutionary or important, Xisuma will always let him respawn.
He spends a grand total of nine diamonds to buy a single plot of land in the shopping district. He builds a cute little bench facing the sunset, with warmly glowing street lights on either side and a small garden. At the end of the bench he places a jukebox, and buys every single disc that Beef’s music shop sells, including Pigstep. He sits on the bench while Mellohi plays and watches the tiny silhouettes of his friends flying in the evening sky. Tommy looks alone on that bench, even if he seems happy, so sometimes other people stop by to sit with him. Scar declares the bench area a public park, since everyone likes it so much, and refunds Tommy his nine diamonds straight from the throne.
