It feels a little like Orym, Ashton and FCG are all passing around the "you're not gonna take care of you so I'm gonna take care of you"

Why are Bells Hells
i was thinking about people saying that Bells Hells didn't have any reason to stay together or go on the moon mission so here is me getting some answers to it even if there is more i'm sure !
Imogen :
She started the campaign by wanting to know more about her mother, find her and so even if she has found her mom once, i think she would want to stop her now bc she knows she is with the bad guys. She feels involved.
She gets her powers from the moon, from predathos and she wants to know more about her powers and going on the moon would help her understand who she is more.
She wants to kill Otohan because she killed Laudna who she loves very much and otohan is part of "the release predathos team" so it gives her the want to stop it.
She grew also as a recluse at some point because her own dad didn't talk to her anymore and the town hated her so now that she has met people that understands her, she also tries to make things to work with them.
Laudna :
She has been following Imogen for years now, they have been going from town to town and she just wants to stay with her friend (now lover), someone that accepts her and just be with her wherever Imogen goes.
She always wanted to belong, she enjoys being with a group that accepts her, that she can be herself with and if these people want to save the world, she wants to protect them and stay beside them.
Her life was taken at such a young age and was a recluse for many years and now she is finally enjoying seeing the world and meeting new people, she is always happy when they go somewhere new.
Orym :
Otohan killed his family, he will do everything to stop them and kill them or at least stop their plans.
He serves people, he is a fighter, Trent is a threat to the people he wants to protect and so he will do everything to stop him.
He absolutly grew fond of the people he is travelling with, especially Fearne and he thinks they can help him get revenge or stop the bad guys.
Fearne :
She grew up in the feywild and was only surrounded with fey creatures and Nana Morri, she just loves to be on Exandria (even if i know that she misses the feywild) and explore. She is absolutly fascinated by everything and just wants to have fun.
About the moon stuff, i think her parents involvement peaked her interested about it and it has to spark something in her.
Orym of course is her best friend and she just wants to stay with him. She is also close with the witches and really bond with them. Than her relationship with Ashton, wathever it will be, she likes them.
Ashton :
Ashton always wanted to find a purpose kinda, we've seen it in the latest episode, they wanted to be stronger, find why they are on exandria, to be part of something big.
They always wanted to have a group of friends that would stick up with them, that would'nt leave them behind like the nobody's did, like previous people did and them "fucking up" last time but the group not leaving them has made them like them even more. And they wanna heal, they are trying.
FCG :
They started being there mostly bc they were with Ashton and just have a friend, they had just lost their group, they were grieving. And now finding this new group that again doesn't judge them for what they did and try's to make things work, they love it.
They are absolutly going against what they were made for (harming people) and they want to help people, heal them emotionally and physically. They are trying to make up for the wrong they did.
Their connection with the Changebringer absolutly make them want to help the gods even if there is questionning but they think it's the right thing to do. Their god also gives them purpose.
Chetney :
He doesn't want to be forgotten, he wants to be powerfull, especially. He is scared he will die and that nobody will remember him so Chetney saving the world and go to the moon, would absolutly make him known.
I think he also just goes with the flow, he has done so many things with his life and he has this group now, it's just new adventures, they helped him get to the Gorgynei and to know his powers better. He just has fun with them and wants to see more and have fun.
He thinks going to the moon is bonkers c'mon
Bells Hells are going on this crazy adventure for many reasons that are mainly to finally have this group that accepts them and have an actual happy ending so even they all don't want SPECIFICALLY save the gods, they have other motivation to do what they do. If one wants to do something, they will all help them do it.
They are not perfect and don't always work good together but they are trying and maybe that is enough for now, trying to be better, to stay with eachother and make things work. The most of them were lonely, never had a group of friends, are grieving and them wanting not to lose their bond is normal. And predathos maybe destroying the world is a bit of an obstacles to that.
Also they are having so much fun together c'mon.
It's dnd guys, it's a game, it would be annoying if they were just like "nah i don't care", they can but they love what Matt is building for them, the story. If mostly the players sometimes want to know more and get on the adventure, maybe that's enough. They can just play how they want.
And if they think their character doesn't want to be there anymore, they will just make them leave. Sam already had a character leave the campaign, it can happen again. The players know better what they want for their character.

Everyone collects themselves after that near death (not even near death, they watched him die and reform) experience and decide to put off the trip to the moon for at least a day, just to breathe and process. And make sure Ashton doesn't explode again. Like, really make sure.
Fearne doesn't make eye contact with him, each clop of her hooves sounding deep in his body as she gets further away. She links arms with Imogen and Laudna, who glance back at them with twin worried and frustrated expressions. Ashton doesn't think he burned any bridges today, but a few of them are heavily singed to match the rest of him.
FCG and Chetney help them up to their rooms, where Lord de Rolo has banished them to recuperate, Lady Allura still stunned behind him while he gave the order, face blank as she processes what could have happened. The smaller members of the group aren't honestly that much help when it comes to his movement, but if FCG could be pale, they would be, so Ashton lets them hold his hand and appreciates the warm flow of healing still being pumped into him.
And that leaves Orym. Quiet by nature, Ashton is disconcerned to find him near silent. He appears to have retreated into some sort of training, because even though he can see Orym moving slightly behind him, the halfling makes no noise. It's not until they reach the room Ashton was sharing with FCG that Orym says "I'll take them. I bought some healing potions before this, that I can use if we need to. You two get some rest, that took a lot out of you, Letters."
FCG pushes one last burst of healing into Ashton and squeezes their hand. With a firmness rarely heard, they say, "we are going to talk about that later. When I've gathered my thoughts." Ashton wants to bring him in for a hug, but the body language says he wouldn't be welcome. Tomorrow, maybe.
The two of them transfer his care to Orym and Chetney gives a small wave, pulling a lingering FCG into his room. Ashton can hear him muttering something to FCG but doesn't try to make it out, focus narrowing to the small figure standing like a statue in front of him.
Orym also hasn't met his eyes once since he opened them. Ashton waits.
With a hand on his thigh, Orym pushes him into the room and shuts the door. The silence presses in on them, and Ashton almost breaks the silence, but knows any words he wants to say need to take a back seat to whatever is brewing in Orym.
"What was that." Orym's voice comes flat like a bit of flint, wanting to be struck. Ashton chooses his words carefully.
"The stronger I am, the better chance we have to win this fight. The shard made me stronger."
"The shard made you dead." And Ashton does flinch at that. A tiny convulsion of muscles he doesn't have, at the pain in Orym's voice that's seeping into the coldness. "You exploded, and you reformed, and we watched while only two of us could do anything at all." His fists shake by his sides and with effort he flexes them and sits down on the bed. Ashton doesn't sit next to him, but on the floor in front, forcing himself to look up into eyes that swell with tears. Ashton makes an aborted movement towards Orym's hands, stopping themselves at the last moment, only for Orym to close the gap and squeeze.
Tears begin to slip silently down his cheeks and Ashton doesn't regret his choice - he's alive, he has more power with which to help his friends - but he regrets that it caused these tears. "I'm alive, I made it. Orym-" and he rocks back with the force of Orym throwing his arms around them. Long buried instincts kick in and he lifts his arms to return the embrace. Orym has always been careful with his touches, especially with Ashton, and the intensity of this one gives him pause. Orym pulls back and runs his hands through his hair, making it stick up with sweat.
"You idiot -" and suddenly Ashton is being kissed for the second time that day. After the shard settled he'd felt warmth flood his body, and then recede to a gentle simmer. It comes rushing back with the feel of Orym's chapped lips pressed to his, and he rests his hands on Orym's waist, unable to do anything more than helplessly kiss back.
And as soon as it started, Orym retreats and is halfway to the door before Ashton stands up with some notion of stopping him. But Orym stops at the threshold, turning back to say, "I don't know if what I'm feeling for you is going anywhere, but you dying before I can figure it out isn't going to help anyone. Stop throwing yourself into danger, Ashton. Please." And with that he's gone.
Ashton stands stock still, lips buzzing, new arm tingling. "Well, fuck."

We land on the northeastern shore of the island, and learn that FCG does not, in fact, know how compasses work.
Before using the compass to call the ghost pirates (?), FCG casts speak with dead on the bodies in the portable hole, and Imogen disguises herself as her mother to get them to talk. First, the druid:
[You failed your mission. Where is Thull?] "She remains at the key." [How many have come over?] "I don't know. I saw a hundred or more." [Did you ever speak to Ludinus?] "No. Just watched him." [How much time until we strike?] "I don't know." [What is the greatest threat to our organization?] "They've mentioned unity. Keep them scattered."
Next, General Ratanish: [Congratulations, you fell to a group of weaklings. Luckily, our master is forgiving. We can bring you back if you prove yourself. Tell me how we communicate.] "The old-fashioned way. The solstice has scrambled us." [Tell me how we protected our entrances to the key.] "The soldiers have been moved as you requested, and the Moonfolk have kept eyes as well." [You were in charge of keeping rebellions down, yes?] "Partially." [As you can see, I've been separated from our forces. Tell me about our entrances into the key.] "You have many tricks up your sleeve. The main pit entrance is easy. Otherwise... they were closed behind us as a precaution." [What happened to the two, the wizard and the monk?] "Probably dead."
In the throes of that massive success, they turn back to summoning a ship full of ghost pirates. From where the compass hits the water, mist billows and encloses the landscape, the temperature drops dramatically, and Orym hears nothing except for the waves and the wind. Noiselessly, a shadowed shape breaches the distant fog bank — the bow of a massive ship, chains hanging from the sides, an overgrown moss clustered up the hull, three masts with tattered sails.
It pulls up alongside the beach, and shadowed figures leap from the deck to meet them. They're mostly skeletal, wearing torn leather, wielding cutlasses — ten of them marching up the shore, splashing through the water. A handful stay on the ship, and a raspy voice echoes from it: "Take it from them. Leave them bleeding. Whatever they have is ours." Initiative!
wait are the Bells Hells finally going to get a ship if they defeat these guys??
Laudna knocks out most of the skeletons with a fireball and calls out in Shadowcant. "You sure you don't want to chat." "Hah. A chat it is. Kill the rest." The captain holds his action for the next couple of rounds.
Fearne legitimately considering not healing FCG when they're down and making death saves purely because their turn undead hit Laudna (even though it really shouldn't have bc she isn't undead) is certainly A Choice
Laudna reaches the captain, and puts his hand to her chest. "You're like me. Cursed. Rau'shan, Ka'mort, Delilah — we can end it. Together." He withdraws. "I chose this curse. The Strife Emperor granted me new life. So what else do you offer, besides returning what is mine?" She offers the compass and Chetney's cursed sword. "It's cursed, it talks to him — I figure it fits your aesthetic... it imbues him with the strength of a hundred holy men. It can grant you radiant abilities, the same ones that caused your men to flee." "Show me this blade."
Ashton rage build update: It seems like the 10th level improvement for the space rage build allows Ashton to teleport up to 60 feet on their turn. It's not clear whether this is a bonus action, a free action, or part of their movement.
Chetney approaches the captain with Graz'tchar unsheathed. "If you want your compass back, we beg but a simple journey across the seas."
Laudna's turn. "So, you're asking for passage? In trade, you all live, and you give me my compass and this fine weapon." "The compass first; the blade upon completion... you can't expect me to trust a bunch of pirates." "Collateral doesn't sound right to me. The blade now, the compass after."
Chetney hands over the blade, the captain accepts, and combat ends.
Travis went from having to be forcibly separated from the cursed sword, to willingly giving up the cursed sword after 72 episodes of buildup, to giving it away within a half dozen episodes of acquisition! that's what I call character growth!
"You have a thing here, in this realm, called guilt, and I've never really felt it before but I feel it really strongly here for some reason and it sucks—" fearne
"We didn't really do any research, we just heard about you from another woman and thought that sounded great" That is literally the Bells Hells' motto. Like. pirate captains, gods, what's the difference? they don't know shit about either!
They ask about the captain and his ship. They used to be well-known in these parts (unclear whether "these parts" refers to the Shattered Teeth or Domunas), but gained a lot of enemies; eventually, the enemies became part of the crew. They had almost gathered all of the things they were searching for when the curse befell them, and now they're searching for the rest — "things that are personal to me. Items, keepsakes, trophies, and my navigation tools."
And they, on semantics, give him his compass back. This surely will have no negative consequences in the future.
The boat is called "the Crimson Abyss." They're crossing over the Vermillion Reef. I mean, come on—
The captain has made multiple allusions to how his word is his bond, and how promises bind him, and how all the stories about him reflect this. Is he some kind of fey entity, somehow?
Ashton asks the captain about what's happening globally, and he says that he knows basically nothing.
I feel like the Bells Hells not knowing that Bane is a Betrayer God says more about the quality of the Exandrian public education system than anything—
Bane is the god of tyranny and conquest; they are lawful evil, and they believe in structure through domination, that those who are in power are there because they deserve or have earned it. In essence, if the Cerberus Assembly had to worship a god, they'd worship Bane. But for the captain, it's less about revery and worship, and more about praying to someone you agree with when you feel the occasional need to pray.
I do genuinely hope that Laudna giving up Chetney's blade for him without consulting him will become a point of conflict, I'd love to see more of their dynamic play out.
Time to identify magic items! They got boots of speed (which are much different and marginally less powerful than the boots of haste). With a round of Rollies, Ashton gets them, and trades them to Chetney for the Ring of Temporal Salvation.
Ashton goes to talk to the navigator, and they're the only one who picks up on the fact that she can't see the fog. Ashton mentions how they think that the Bells Hells can do something, or refuse to do something, about what the gods are facing; and on the mention of the red moon, she says that she hasn't seen it in weeks, and that worries her. They play into the navigator's anger (she's the skeleton of a fire genasi, he notices, and she's angry; he knows anger), plays on her doubts, to get the information they need. Like they did with Percy, it's unclear whether Ashton actually believes that the gods deserve to die, or if they're playing up that sentiment to appeal to the person they're trying to get information from.
The rest of them head below decks, and find that it's freezing cold, too cold to sleep. Somewhere, there's a violin playing.

For the second half…
Fearne was GOLD!!!!!
Poor Orym…
Pate! What the fuck!
Ashton yes!
FCG? Hell Yeah!
I mean the others were cool too but but I didn't get to view as much as I would've liked and am likely to miss some things again for the first rebroadcast so I suppose I will give live thoughts more in the second rebroadcast…
About them not telling about Vax to Keyleth, as I've seen some posts about that, It makes sense they didn't tell her about Vax, even if they had gleaned that he was important to her after her whole "I saw the person dearest to me" speech. But they also just got information on how she could be healed and the information can technically also been given at a later point when Keyleth is healed. And she still needs rest and recovery time shrugs
Also, Keyleth and Orym's talk was much needed.
ORYM AND HIS MOM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And no, I don't think the sleeve covers the tattoos. I remember the tattoos being on the sword and not the shield arm?
SO excited to see Ashton's art later! *remembers the next episode is two weeks later* Fuck.

Thoughts on Critical Role C3E31
I absolutely loved this episode.
From the Ira reveal to the fact that Fearne’s parents had holes in their memories where Ira forced them to keep working with him to Fearne admitting that she’s angry with them to FCG finally snapping and going full Murderbot, this episode had it all.
But I really want to talk about some of the more subtle character moments.  I absolutely loved Marisha staying in it after she realizes what she almost did to FCG during the fight, after dealing 50 points of damage and digging her fingers into their head so far she dented the metal.  I love Orym realizing that the ‘grass blades’ on FCG were dried blood streaks (also just Liam’s out of character reaction to the Ludinis reveal, because that was magical, and you know he was using everything in his power to keep Caleb from messing with Orym’s knowledge about that particular reveal).  I loved all of Sam’s work throughout FCG’s breakdown, going for everyone’s emotional jugular, and I loved how that coupled with her feelings about her parents brought out Fearne’s cruel side.  I loved Imogen snapping Laudna out of her killing rage and then slamming everyone with a calm emotions.
But I really want to give special props to Taliesin Jaffe, who I think was the MVP of acting this episode for some really subtle work near the end.  The fact that Ashton not only grappled FCG, but after the others attacked FCG, dealing massive damage to them in a single turn, Ashton immediately demanded they heal FCG.  While everyone else waffled, him just chanting, “Fucking heal them, fucking heal them, fucking heal them,” with increasing intensity until Fearne did it was fantastic.  And following that up with them standing next to the unconscious and defenseless FCG and looking at the rest of the party more like enemies than friends speaks to their intense loyalty to and affection for FCG.  Because Ashton gets what it is to lose control, and they get what it is to have rage inside you that takes you over, and Ashton knows perfectly well that everyone else debating about what to do to FCG did too.  So Ashton squared up and got ready to fight all his new friends for FCG.  And I believed in that moment that if any of them put a foot wrong there was going to be another initiative roll.
And I also appreciate how well he played Ashton’s skewed perspectives on things throughout the episode.  From his hilarious ‘Did someone say something about hitting some parents?  I want to hit some parents!  Fuck you, I don’t have issues!’ to their admitting that their views on Fearne’s parents were very biased (likely by personal experience), to knowing the more obvious signs of powderkegs around him, but somehow missing that Orym is just as bad as the rest of them, it’s all great work and incredibly consistent.
I love the way he plays low Charisma with this character, because it’s not the obvious choices that people make like making the character gross or forgettable.  Ashton instead can’t really read the room.  They get stuck in their own head and their own point of view and won’t budge.  They hold grudges and are loyal to a fault in people they care about.  Their impulse control is terrible (whoops that lens), and they absolutely refuse to apologize for it.  Which means that, when everyone is talking about FCG, they know full well that they’ve fucked up too.  They’ve all fucked up.  At least one of them has actively attacked a party member before, and only got a slap on the wrist.  So all the attention suddenly pointing at FCG after all that, after Laudna went into her own fugue, must have smacked of the worst sort of hypocrisy to Ashton.  Because they can’t read the room, but they do have a great nose for hypocrisy and bullshit.
I’m so interested in seeing the fallout from this episode going forward.  I want to see Fearne’s fallout and FCG’s fallout, following the huge revelations about both their characters.  But I also want to see the emotional fallout of this particular crisis point.  Orym was right to demand that they all commit to the group, and also commit to keeping themselves in check as best they can and to keep everyone else in the group in check when they can’t.  I want to see more of that anger from Orym, and I want Ashton to realize that Orym isn’t nearly as put together as he’s acting like he is (I also desperately want those two to start sparring, because they seriously both need the violent outlet).  I want Chetney to have to grapple with how much he loves being the wolf versus the damage it can do to the others.  I want Laudna to grapple with her co-dependence with Delilah, and why her impulse was to believe that FCG was really going to betray her.  I want Imogen to deal with that too, and to deal with rapidly becoming something like the group leader.
So much started to pay off in this episode, and so much more seems to be set up.  They were right: this is the part of the campaign where things finally start to really kick into gear.  Now heading back to Bassuras with all of them inches from exploding, I can’t wait to see what happens next.

thinking about 4-sided dive and Taliesin talking about Bells Hells being npcs and like...
Reality itself works so different for PCs and NPCs. There’s the obvious class level things but also like. Death saves are a PC thing - it’s an optional rule for NPCs and honestly not widely used. Unless they’re the big bad, or it’s specified nonlethal, basically anyone the main characters knock to 0 is instantly dead, whereas you usually have to work to kill a PC permanently.
There are a lot of fallacies that dnd parties tend to fall into as they get higher levels and less attached to the world. Getting super rich and just giving away gold like it’s nothing when it’s a full days labor. Expecting to find high level magic items for sale in backwater towns or get someone to cast spells for them. Being surprised that the random townie they hit has <5 hp.
Main Characters get to live in the cartoon logic world where they can get stabbed in the gut and be better with a good nights rest, versus everyone else living in this grimdark world where all of these attacks cause serious, permanent injuries, and even if they do get brought up from 0 they’ve got months of recovery.
Every other member of the Bells Hells has either always been close enough to Adventurers that they got caught in the bubble (Orym, FCG) or have been weird long enough they forgot it’s not normal (Chetney, Laudna, Imogen) if they ever knew (Fearne). But Ashton? Ashton feels like they still view the world the way they did as an npc thug.
Of course you run and leave people behind. The only healing you have is potions, and once someone’s down chances are even that won’t bring them up. What’re you gonna do with a corpse, bury it? That’s not worth a life, you leave them behind, no second thoughts...
And going from cartoon world to grimdark world is scary af, suddenly realizing what you do leaves scars - but it’s nothing compared to the reverse. Going from violence having consequences to it all being fixed in the morning. Learning that this could all have been fixed so easily but instead you were watching people be hurt - learning that it’s relatively cheap to bring people back from the dead. That’s horrifying.

Critical Role, Campaign 3 Episode 40
Got him again, clearly. Wow, he looks ESPECIALLY frustrated with this time's intro.
Sam's new skit being styled like THE WORST RADIO PRESENTATION EVER is absolutely priceless. Letting Sam loose on the sampling board was a trip, the others are dying of laughter. Marisha in particular is just paralytic ... I love it.
Ugly Christmas sweater! Matt: "That us delightfully ugly!" And A CHETNEY HAT!!! I WANT ONE!!!
Love them geeking on the action figures too. So adorable!
Sam us clearly getting too enamoured of that soundboard, by the way ...
Ah ... AAAAAAAAAH!!! That's right! Imogen's mum's alive! Okay! Here we go!
Yes! Talk to her again! Come on, girl! No time to waste! Yes, I know it's a lot but SERIOUSLY, this us a big deal! And Laudna's just being SO SWEET about it ...
She's being so evasive ... I mean loving and concerned but also really evasive ... one more chance at a message ... yes, force the point!
She "couldn't stay without knowing what she is" ... that is LOADED. She sends too ... yeah, I thought so, she's trying to keep Imogen safe by staying incognito. Yeah, she ain't budging on this, but then neither is Imogen. Wow, she really is her mother's daughter.
Come on Laudna, cheer our girl up! That's it! Yes! God this undead lady's just so lovable. :3
Stop sleeping in the supply closet you two!
So they go up on deck and walk STRAIGHT INTO the aftermath of that crazy Chetney scrap ... Imogen's reaction I'd priceless and totally understandable.
Boy is this a night for EXTREME REVELATIONS or what?
Oh yeah, Orym and Fearne still need healing too. Like all this heart to heart is goi g on and they're just stood there bleeding on the deck.
Fearne STILL likes the idea of becoming a werewolf faun, that's so wild ...
Orym continues to be the warm calm centre to this whole thing snd I love it.
Chetney's like FALLING DOWN exhausted on his feet ... oof ... they wake FCG and Ashton up znd Ashton's just ANNOYED he missed it all! XD FCG heals Chet and he wakes up SO HIGH ...
Ashton: "Raise your hand if you think you might turn on all of us." Fearne insists she wouldn't. NOBODY believes her. No, I don't either. She's like a TOTAL chaos gremlin, that's only gonna get MORE dangerous ...
Pate! Okay ... the now living Pate is giving FCG a massive existential crisis. XD "Am I just THAT but with a wheel?"
The group wonder who's gonna be next to glair up ... once again votes are cast for Fearne. No surprise there ...
Orym sends a message to Dorian through the Stone ... oh man ... come on Liam, don't do this to us right now.
Ashton and Orym have a heart to heart ... angry rock man trying to be sweet snd supportive is weird but also surprisingly effective. And it's kind of working too, Orym is OPENING UP to him! Oh man ... little man SEEMS LIKE he has it so together and yet ...
Ashton really just hopes he gets to punch a werewolf sometime. Yes, mate. We hope you will too.
And Orym hugs Ashton. :3
Matt's gonna have Robbie record a message back to Orym ... that's so cute, I can't wait ...
Next day ... Laura rolls 7 ... mild turbulence but otherwise all us well. Phew ...
Oooh ... beautiful scary country ...
Day 5 and Liam rolls the Ruidus dice to get them bad times ... but he rolls WELL. Smooth sailing.
Next day ... Bassuras again ... familiar ground ... Taliesin rolls a 3 ... Matt has him roll again ... 2. OOF!!! Bad wind! Not good!
Okay, they are now in A FLAT SPIN!!! But they get out of it ... once again still no MAJOR problems ...
Desk comes and Chetney wants somebody to TIE HIM UP!!! XD He gets some manacles ... here we go. Oh boy, this us getting all kinds of kinky all of a sudden ...
New day ... 3 ... okay ...
Dog sized bird creatures ... hmmm ... not good. A dozen or so ... Laura: "Sam doesn't know what a dozen is." Sam: "So that's like twenty?"
FCG attempts to communicate with them to ward them off znd they don't respond, instead attacking ... argh, 3 points of piercing damage! AND HE'S POISONED?!!! Shit!
Okay, COMBAT!!! Here comes OH MY GOD THAT IS ANOTHER AWESOME BATTLE MAP!!! Matt's craft powers have done him proud this time!
Roll initiative!
Top of the round and it's Orym! Yes, DASH MAN!!! DASH!!! Bait and Switch! Action Surge! Goading attack, and the creature fails to resist znd he DECAPITATES IT!!! Nice!
Fearne summons Mister and conjures her Flame Blade, then holds action. One of them moves into range and she ATTACKS ... ooop, rule check ... roll a D8 ... Ashley: "Oh, that's so terrible!" Still does dome damage, though ...
Oh shit ... Fearne is hit and POISONED!!! AAAAAH!!!
Orym takes a hit but gives as good as he gets ... and he manages to NOT get poisoned? Sweet!
Ashton swings and HITS!!! Holy fuck, he just PUNTED that fucker into oblivion! And ANOTHER HIT! He Gallaghers it's head!
Imogen uses a Sorcery point so she can Witchbolt TWO AT ONCE!!! But misses one ... bugger ... inflicts 21 points of damage on the other one, though!
Oh fuck ... turns out these things AREN'T attacking the ship, they're just RUNNING AWAY from something? Oh gods ...
Wait ... RONIN chose the monster? Really, Matt?
A CHIMERA!!! HOLY FUCK!!! This is SO BAD!!!
Chetney and Laudna are now SERIOUSLY messed up ALREADY!!! Oh gods ... and Imogen takes 9 points of slashing damage! Nooooo ...
Oh nice, FCG halves her damage ...
Laudna goes STRAIGHT into her Form of Dread! Crazy scary tree Form again, nice, she's totally adopting a holdover from Whitestone! Spiderclimb! AND Bane! Sweet!
Aha! Chetney unleashes the Scythe! Nice! Blood Curse of Bloated Agony? Holy fuck that sounds CRAZY ... and then he goes invisible! Nice, and no attack of opportunity cuz it can't see him!
FCG uses their sawblade on one of the creatures ... wait how does he get an advantage when his OPPONENT rolls a Nat 20? Hmmm ... clerics, man! Attack of opportunity ... MISS!!! Healing Word on Laudna for 13 points! Nice!
Whoa, do because she's within 100 feet of Pate due gets FULL HEALTH POINTS BACK?!!! Nice.
What? He's RESTRAINED? So NONE OF THAT HAPPENED? Seriously, Matt?
Okay, so he's no longer restrained ... but still messed up ...
Orym fucks ip another creature then makes a pushing attack so he PUNTS IT over the side ... doesn't kill it but it's MESSED UP.
Ah, so Fearne has magical resistance ... Nice, straight 20 means she shrugs off the effect! Goody ... THREE HITS on the Chimera! Okay, ANOTHER rule check ... Ashley's getting SO POWERFUL she doesn't know what she's capable of now! I love that ...
66 POINTS of fire damage! Sweet!
Mister gets to use his crazy little Percy pistol! Yay!
Now the Chimera's distracted the other beasties are BOOKING!!! That's helpful at least ...
Ashton slides in and rages as he tries to smash it in the leg ... 13 points of damage! And another 15! Nice one! Chimera is trashed but still kicking ...
Imogen ... whoa, super red glowy craziness? Whoa ... WHAT DID SHE JUST SUMMON?!!! SERIOUSLY, that thing is TERRIFYING!!!
Laura is doing some crazy scary stuff that we can't fathom while still wearing THAT HAT!!! It's so surreal ... 0.0
Chimera tries to attack the Shade (so THAT'S what it is) and fails ... but HITS on Imogen! Ooof ... but Laudna uses Silvery Babs and reduces the attack roll and it MISSES Imogen after all! Beautiful!
Laudna rolls a NAT 20 and FUCKS UP the goat head! Nice one! She dispatches Pate to deliver Shocking Grasp on it! Ooooooh! But rolls 12 ... miss! Bollocks ...
Chetney licks Turmoil's blade ... okay ... but now the blade's ON FIRE!!! Double hit! 23 points of damage? Ooof ... and TWELVE POINTS OF THUNDER DAMAGE!!! Holy shit ...
But Chetney's within range if the Shade, is he affected by its range effect? Oh thank the gods, he saves ...
More Spiritual Weapon badassery from FCG!
Stay Puft flaming hand escape! I love it!
Orym gets 14 points if slashing damage and one of the heads is just HANGING OFF right now! Sweet.
Fearnd gets a POING BLANK shot on the Chimera with the ballista ... 19 points of damage ... Matt: "How do you wanna do this?"
She KEBABS IT. Fearne: "Get off my airship."
Chetney tries to touch the Shade and takes 2 D6 of psychic damage! Oops ...
Imogen doesn't know how to get rid of the Shade ... so she just asks it to go away AND IT WORKS!!! Okay ... they're all concerned and I can't blame them. Although Ashton thinks it's cool, so ...
Ashton asks what it felt like to Chetney and he says it was like all the children jn the world were giving him their toy orders at the same time. "As if one mind could handle that all at once ..."
Another day down and they get a long rest do they're healed up again ... phew ...
Weird coloured jungle ahead ... oh, so THIS is the Gloomed Jungle? Okay ... creepy.
Matt: "And that's where we're gonna take a break!"
Laura was trying to draw it and it ended up just looking like a mouth with loads of pubes ... hmmm ...
Wait ... I don't think I've seen that Matt Mercer figurine before ... that's a new bit, I swear! Ashley: "Loot his corpse and take his vest!" XD
Back to the game ... and Matt is once again having to deal with their unruliness. "Look, I'm hollow inside."
Shit roll ... okay, this should be fun ...
Ooooh ... it's getting all dark and moody ... this is not a good sign, is it?
Chetney needs some new clothes, it seems ...
Lightning? Eep! Not good ... the rain's making the deck all slick, too. They lose half a day's travel because of this. Nuts.
So just ... "land in the jungle and howl?" That's it? Seriously? Oh, at dusk. Okay ...
Wow ... Chetney's getting SO EXCITED about this, it's kind of adorable but also a little disturbing at the same time. Hmmm ... Travis coming up with all this poetic stuff for how they all smell to Chetney. I love that.
This is a moody place, but also kind of beautiful. I might actually start liking this place.
Fearne just looks over Chetney's head and spots EXACT signs of civilisation ... or maybe not. Hmm ...
Oh, so they're landing at the ruins. Okay ...
Wait ... so this might not actually go how they want? I mean these guys are WEREWOLVES, people! Are you still set on this plan of action?
Whoa, so Chetney KILLED the werewolf that turned him ... crazy backstory goodness! XD
Hahaha ... Chetney clearly has NO IDEA how old he is. Did Travis just ROLL to see how old Chetney is? Ah ... apparently he is 700 YEARS OLD now ...
The return of Recognise The Alpha ...
I love how Fearne is just humouring Chetney on his building himself up, it's really quite cute.
Matt says the top of the tower FEELS STABLE ... oh, he's making THAT FACE again, what are you planning, Matthew?
FCG still has no sense of smell, of course ...
Ashton casts Pass Without A Trace and then they make a shit load of noise climbing down so it's kind of negated ...
Oh, so this is a FUNGAL jungle, then ... ba-dum-tish! XD
Chetney: "Okay, we're gonna light this candle." He tears off his skin at his Adam's apple and FCG casts Eagle's Splendour on him ... yeah, that is a MAGNIFICENT howl.
Okay, this is taking a little while, clearly ... AN HOUR?!!! Really? This is NOT looking good.
Fearne transforms into a wolf to help him. Fearne: "Okay ... I'm a wolf." Everybody cracks up. XD
They ALL howl ... and NOW they get a response. Okay, they're A LONG WAY off fight now. They're gonna wait, it seems.
Night falls but the shitty weather continues. Laudna says a fire. Orym sits with Wolf Fearne to keep an eye out ... and Imogen uses Mage Hand to keep the rain off them! :3
Oh, okay ... somebody's coming. Something, anyway ... hmm ... is it stalking Laudna? Oh dear ...
Laudna asks Pate to do an interpretative dance ... oh my gods Marisha is beatboxing and Matt is dancing like a lunatic. That's love, baybee! XD
Okay, now there's TWO of them ... fuck, this guy is BIG. Ooh ... okay, he's definitely got a big barbarian thing going on ... WERETIGER?!!! Holy fuck ...
Divasheela ... cool name. Wow, she's pretty awesome ... oh, now there's a PANTHER one too! And another werewolf. A WEREBOAR!!! AND A WEREBEAR!!! Fuck, this is so cool ...
Chetney does a Magic Mike and wolfs out! XD
Divasheela is ... less than impressed, it seems. Hmmm ... that said, they seem receptive enough.
Whoa ... did Chetney really just almost make them all attack the airship? Oops, I guess?
Okay, so they're going into the woods, then ...
Now Imogen is RIDING THE WEREBOAR. Okay ...
"The Zigzag Return?"
Awwwww ... Orym is riding Fearne. :3 and Laudna is riding the panther. Okay ... is he FLIRTING WITH HER?!!! Laudna turns herself into crazy creepy bark armour on him and he finds it scary but he's also into it. XD
Aaaaaaaand now they're lost. Or maybe not ...
Okay, normal forms! Here we go ... yeah, they seem like a nice, likeable bunch now, actually. Oh, so here we are. Barinak. It's pretty cool here, actually.
Yeah, from the look of it this is just PEOPLE. Like a regular community, really. I can see why they're so dead set on keeping it secret, then.
Ah, so Divasheela was originally Annaline. Okay.
Oh boy ... so Chetney's not the only one who's having problems with Ruidus of late. Hmmm ...
She recognises Chetney as another Blood Hunter. Cool. Oh, so this training is gonna take WEEKS?!!! Yeah, that's not gonna work ...
Okay ... so Chetney losing his cool is Zbigniew deal ... but NOT a deal breaker, at least. That's good, I guess. FCG suggests they leave him here for a few weeks ... ummm ... okay, is that an option right now?
Court of the Lambent Path? Okay ... sounds fancy ...
Oooh, statue symbolism ... hmm ... is this a major clue? Sayhaadon? Okay ...
Orym is currently just sizing everybody up - Know Your Enemy - as potential opponents, and some of them look pretty dangerous ...
Ah, so Sayhaadon is an aspect of the Wildmother. Cool. I wonder if FCG can do something with that, then.
Tiny Steve Brule gnome ... okay ... is this someone I should know about? ^^; What do you want? I'm not the most well informed person ever, guys ... oh, Tarad. Okay.
Ah ... yeah, so Imogen's like YUCK over this food, then. Backstory ...
Not three heads but three SNOUTS ... well that's just even weirder, then.
Ashton wants a drink. They offer him water ... oh, is he going to kick off about that? Oh, so they have wine? Yeah, all right. That'll do.
So if someone completely loses it the Gorgynei are charged with making sure they don't become a danger to others. Yeah, kind of figured as much. And chains! Yeah. Also makes sense.
Chetney is really making out that he's more confident than he is. "Willpower is 10 out of 10!" Yeah ...
Divasheela asks if they're willing to take Chetney out if he becomes a threat ... oh boy, this doesn't bode well. Oh, so they're gonna stick around for him to do the training after all? 2 and half weeks ... oh yeah, that could work, actually.
Ashley rolls high for insight and gets whispers! Sam has a plug prepared for once! Much better!
Yeah, it's getting LATE. Find somewhere to sleep. They call for Tarad ... FCG, what the hell was THAT noise?
Treehouse guest houses? Sweet! Oooh, and furs! Cool.
Okay, I really don't know if I KNOW that particular quote actually ...
Bedtime, then. Tree cave Tweecave? Cue Matt pretending to have a speech impediment.
Matt: "And THAT'S where we're gonna call it a night."
So what IS Tarad's were form? Damn it, now I'm curious. Votes are being cast for weresquirrel, apparently ...

Any thoughts or speculation about potential multiclasses for the C3 characters
Ok real talk are my tumblr dms open to the public or something because I was just talking about this.
Anyway, it's too early to get a handle on when this should happen or character reasons (like, I don't think we could have predicted Fjord's multiclass at all at this time in C2, and I remember around the first time he lost his powers people speculating about bard) but from a mostly mechanics/broad character sense position:
Fearne and Orym have such good classes/subclasses that I just don't see the point, and at this time I don't see a character reason either.
Laudna is already multiclassed and I don't see a good reason to do more of it at this time.
I don't know enough about Ashton and FCG's subclass builds to say if it would be a good idea; barbarian/fighter is pretty much always good but I'd want to get a better sense of Ashton's subclass first. Cleric stacks well with most other casters, but it's also quite strong on its own, and for a number of reasons I would not recommend it at this time, but that may change as I learn more about FCG and the subclass.
This leaves Chetney and Imogen:
I think Chetney would do well to multiclass into artificer in this party, but only one or two levels. Blood Hunter stacks well with fighter as well but artificer helps more with this party (healing/spells like faerie fire for a party with little dark vision) and makes sense with the backstory - he literally already uses an artisan's tool as a weapon, so making it a spellcasting focus is a natural fit. Infusions are nice, but this party also doesn't lack for magic items the way the Nein did and high level bloodhunter stuff is pretty cool, so a one level dip would be enough, honestly.
For Imogen: it's really going to depend heavily on her story since a multiclass is going to represent a deliberate choice to move away from her sorcery powers, and I'd be interested in seeing either her lean into those powers or look for other options. Were she to multiclass, I'd go bard. I don't think she wants another sinister external power, so warlock is out. Bard doesn't interrupt her spell progression and it uses her same casting stat. It works well for the party as well - it's good to have several people with at least a little healing, inspiration is always helpful but doesn't take away from your turn, she can take a few extra utility cantrips, and it would give her a nice bump in the number of known spells as well as access to light armor and the jack of all trades feature. If she just wants to do a dip, I'd do two levels (for that jack of all trades/song of rest) but if she wants to go further, honestly, there are a few options. We've seen Lore before but it's a good all-around subclass; Valor permits her to take heavier armor and shields which would seriously buff her AC as well as allow for more uses of inspiration to help the party; and Glamour fits flavor-wise with both fey-touched and her sorcerer subclass's focus on psychic/charm effects.
