Already have several ideas for ckhalloween 2023 but one of them is basically Daniel and the Cobras somehow have a run in with a Killer™️ (of Wendy Williams and slasher movie fame) and when they all come to, the killer has tied up all the Cobras BUT has left Daniel untied, which means even though said killer is actively brandishing a weapon and telling them all how he’s going to kill them, Daniel gets very clearly kinda pissed about this. And is like, are you kidding me? What the fuck is this? What, you think I’m not worth tying up? Not enough of a threat???
And the killer is like. Well… yeah. Bc look at you.
And Daniel LOSES it. He’s like OH! Oh I see! I see how it is! And proceeds to just GO OFF yelling at this masked murderer. And the Cobras are fucking sweating like “Daniel—” Daniel NO—” “Dude, he has an AXE!” “LaRusso, for once in your life, be quiet—!”
But the pure indignation of Daniel’s fury is so disorienting that the killer is just standing there like “???” Bc he can’t believe how worked up this kid is, and usually this is the part where people pathetically beg for their lives, like… How is he supposed to handle this. And he’s so deeply confused that it buys them enough time for Johnny and a couple of the other Cobras to work their way out of their bonds.
And once the killer is knocked out Daniel is still just standing there, and Johnny is like “uh, you’re welcome, by the way” and Daniel looks up and glares at him and goes “I was talking to him, you know”
At which Johnny probably throws his hands up in the air and tries not to scream

"I wanna hear if the killer is coming" - Wendy Williams | Bian Le | Trial 3.2 | ATTN: Alvarie | RE: Theophania, Germain, Harriet,
“I still think- whether the third person is the killer or not- it was necessary to hide in plain sight. Because how else would you be able to sneak past someone and blend into a crowd of many people rushing to the scene? It would make sense if they hid in the darkness originally, but after the body was found..?
Even if the room is dark, it would’ve been very difficult to hide and get out after the murder without being caught. They would’ve had to make it past Shin, who was waiting at the top of the stairs, and then make it past the people who arrived first to the scene.
But there is one thing… um, Alvarie? I have a question… I know hide in plain sight wears off when you leave a room or area. Would the two parts of the fountain count as one area, or two separate areas?
Bian continues to sketch in her sketchbook, biting her lip as she works. She’s definitely trying to figure something out, but her forehead is slightly furrowed.
"It’s true… while we have no definitive proof, I think it’s still likely the killer.
I really doubt there were any accomplices, though. There… there are very few people here who I think would be willing to even do that. No matter how close people are, it’s still something that puts you at risk- even if you save someone you care about, you could die instead, or someone else you love. Especially something as risky as killing two people. I know it isn’t a foolproof argument, but I doubt that’s the case…
Also, if Frank has a concussion, it explains how he doesn’t remember this… and the killer wouldn’t have been able to predict a concussion. They would’ve been taking a risk leaving him alive, yet they did. I think that only adds weight to the fact that they didn’t… they didn’t get to finish…”
(MINOR EMETOPHOBIA CW)
Bian feels sick for a second, and she gags, lurching forward- but she’s able to compose herself quickly. Not here, not now.
(CW END)
…I’m open to other theories. I don’t want to go down a rabbit hole like Theophania said. I just… I really don’t see where else this could’ve gone.“
Deep breath. Bian starts to write something out, humming a small note.
"So far… I might be missing someone, but I know that Harriet, Germain, Vee, Nao and Esmee can all hide in plain sight. I… have some thoughts… but I want to wait and hear more. There’s… wait…”
She looks around with wide eyes for a moment before going back to her journal, continuing to write and sketch as she works her way through the evidence.
“There is one hang up I have… not about any theory, but I just…
Meili and Frank were hanging out together… right? They said as much in the group chat. Unless the killer wasn’t paying attention, they would’ve known they were together. It would’ve been very risky to attack when it would’ve been two people against one.
I guess… one counterargument to this is that it could be that Frank is the killer, and his injuries are from the fight, but I sincerely doubt that. Not just for personal reasons… but the two of them were found holding hands. That’s not something you do with your killer. That, and they talked about their plans very openly in the journal. It would’ve been a terrible idea for either of them to try anything when they had concrete proof they were together. But also… they were rather close… or I think they were… it would just be… ”
Bian’s breath turns shaky for a moment, but she’s able to catch herself before she starts to panic again. She told herself she wouldn’t have another episode.
“The killer is a third party. But… why attack two people instead of one? If your only weapon was a lance, wouldn’t that be a lost cause..? I… many of us were alone, and would’ve made easier targets… it doesn’t make sense to go after two people when one would’ve done. The killer could’ve had something against Frank or Meili, but even then, why attack when they're together?
That just… it seems very dangerous for the killer to go after two people. I really don’t get it.”

Kermit and Friends: God Bless America
Tumblr media
Kermit and Friends was all over the news cycle last week.
From Elisa Jordana being interviewed in US Weekly Magazine, to Wendy Williams addressing Elisa and Andy Dick on her show, to even Fox News covering the story.... everyone wanted to discuss the bombshell Elisa dropped last week on Kermit and Friends regarding Andy Dick's most recent arrest.
All of this began on Tuesday evening. Elisa's birthday was on Wednesday and she remained relatively quiet on her social media and in the Kermit and Friends Discord. So what happened at her birthday party?
Andy forgot about Elisa's birthday. No shocker there. Still, Elisa managed to get Andy on the phone and paid to have a car go pick him up. To Andy’s credit, he got in the car. Unfortunately, that’s the only credit he will receive from this point forward.
When Andy arrived, the first thing Elisa did was introduce him to her lovely mother. Instead of small talking and exchanging pleasantries, Andy immediately asked Elisa’s mom if she had any pills she could give him. Yikes!
Andy would only stay at the party for a short while. He showed more attention to Lisa Vanderpump than he did to Elisa, and then he would run off to go hang out with the guy who allegedly broke his ankle, Lucas.
So Andy pretty much ruined Elisa’s birthday. Does he care? Of course not. Andy wouldn’t talk to Elisa again until Saturday night when he called Elisa to ask her to pay for his hotel bill. After Elisa declined, Andy hung up on her and blocked Elisa on Instagram. This is really sad, pathetic behavior.
Elisa is claiming she’s officially done with Andy. The thing is, Elisa has one of the most forgiving souls on the planet. All Andy would have to do is have one nice conversation with Elisa and she’ll most likely then treat him (and his friends) to dinner. Who knows if Andy will even do that though. I personally hope not, and if he does... maybe Elisa will keep her foot down this time and refuse to allow Andy to keep hurting her like this.
I’ve been friends with Elisa since 2015. I could do a run down right now of the guys Elisa has dated since I’ve been blessed to know her, and I wouldn’t have anything good to say about any of them except maybe Gonzo, which honestly was just a fling.
Elisa deserves better than this. I desperately hope throughout our friendship that I set some kind of precedent to show Elisa how she should be treated by anyone who claims to love her. If I can get one thing out of my efforts these last 5 years, it’s that. It’s fine that Elisa doesn’t love me back... but it’s my main wish that she someday understands how I treat her is how the real man in her life should treat her. And hopefully that guy has many other amazing qualities to offer too, because Elisa deserves that as well if she’s going to give her heart to someone.
For all my bickering and griping about the men in Elisa’s life this last decade, we met a lovely young woman yesterday by the name of Mel who’s had it even worse than Elisa!
Mel is Jesse G-Rider’s ex-girlfriend. She was a part of the infamous trap house gang right before Elisa became emerged in it. Mel’s relationship with Jesse was extremely abusive, to say the least. There were cases of petty jealousy, beatings, drugs... you name it, it most likely happened.
Jesse called in highly upset with Elisa for having Mel on the show. Jesse claims he has a restraining order against Mel despite the fact that Mel moved all the way to Detroit, Michigan to escape Jesse.
Jesse then threatened Elisa with legal action, claiming it’s illegal to help a person contact another person who has a restraining order against them. Newsflash to Jesse: first of all, that’s not illegal, dumb dumb. Secondly, YOU called into the show. Elisa didn’t call you with Mel on the line. So even if in some ass backwards World where you could press charges against Elisa, they would be dropped immediately because JESSE initiated the contact by his own free will, and it’s all on recorded video.
Anyway, Mel was fantastic on the show. She had cute little elf ears, top notch internet and audio, a nice gaming chair... Elisa was impressed by all of this, as I was I. Mel looked like a professional streamer and she was a good storyteller that was also very vulnerable and honest. She’s everything Elisa looks for in a Kermit and Friends star. Hopefully Mel will become a regular in our community.
During Mel’s interview, Sharmin Smith went in head first about the horrors of abuse and what America needs to do to help women like Mel out. As a survivor of abuse, Sharmin has some strong feelings on the matter and she was not shy to share them. Even though her Presidential bid for 2020 was unsuccessful, I hear by declare Sharmin Smith President of Kermit and Friends. In my book, that’s why better than being President of the United States of America!
We love America on Kermit and Friends though. Yesterday was July the 4th and Elisa invited Tony Alexander on to discuss his career in the American military and what he’s heroically done to help fellow veterans who have had a rough time adjusting to normal life once they returned home from the war. Tony was a class act through and through, and it was great to see Kermit make a new friend like him on Independence Day.
Another US veteran joined the show, Kermit’s old pal Chris Christine. She said a lovely prayer and then randomly flip opened the Bible so that God could choose a special passage to share with all of Kermit’s beautiful friends. She landed on 1 Kings 6, which is about Solomon building a temple of the Lord, much like Elisa has built the Kermitarian Church!
Claire from New Jersey called at the beginning of the show to ask Elisa her thoughts on Wendy Williams’ segment about Elisa and Andy. Wendy wasn’t very kind - she made light of Andy’s addiction despite being an addict herself, she told a very distasteful joke about Bill Cosby getting hired before Andy ever would, she mispronounced Elisa’s name on purpose, and she claimed that Elisa was trying to use Andy for success. So funny how the ignorant morons who say stuff like that don’t realize it’s been Andy using Elisa this entire time... it’s honestly sexism. Wendy as a woman herself should know better, but I guess her IQ just isn’t at a place where she could ever grasp that.
Sigmond returned to Kermit and Friends this week. Elisa kindly invited Sigmond to her birthday party on Wednesday and by all accounts, he was a superb guest. He even bought Elisa a present! Yep, Sigmond Twayne's Mental Cookbook was his gift and Elisa seemed to love it. This led to Gonzo calling in to ask why the book is so cheap on Amazon. Sigmond, remembering that it was Gonzo who called him a serial killer last week, said Gonzo is a liar and that the book cost $37 on Amazon. Well, Gonzo was actually being truthful because at the time of this blog entry, the book is on sale for just $8.76 from it’s listed price of $37.00. Do NOT miss out on this AMAZING deal and buy your copy today by clicking here!
Of course, Kermit and Friends isn’t Kermit and Friends without some spectacular musical performances. Boy, were we blessed with some good ones for the 4th of July. Elisa’s dad Craig returned to the show to beautifully perform a patriotic song from the 1700′s in which I sadly can’t find the title of. Sigmond’s partner Wappy performed an incredible original song and covered Pool Shark by Sublime. Elisa would also play one of Sugar’s awesome music videos for everyone to enjoy. Good stuff all around from Kermit’s unbelievably talented friends.
All in all, it was a very eventual Kermit and Friends, one absolutely fitting for Independence Day. The future seems more uncertain than ever, but as long as Kermit has all her friends to enjoy, everything will be A-okay. Can’t wait to see what next week’s show will bring :)

Dust Volume 7, Number 4
Tumblr media
Axel Ruley x Verbo Flow
A little bit of optimism is creeping into the air as Dusted writers start to get their shots. We’re all starting to think about live music, maybe outside, maybe this summer. But as the spate of freak snow storms demonstrates, summer’s not here yet, and in the meantime, piles of records and gigs of MP3s beckon. This early spring version of Dust covers the map, literally, with artists representing Pakistan, Australia, Canada, Sweden, the UK and the USA, and stylistically with jazz, rock, punk, rap, improv and many other genres in play. Contributors include Jennifer Kelly, Justin Cober-Lake, Bill Meyer, Ray Garraty, Patrick Masterson, Tim Clarke and Bryon Hayes.
Arooj Aftab — Vulture Prince (New Amsterdam)
Vulture Prince by Arooj Aftab
Arooj Aftab is a classical composer originally from Pakistan but now living in Brooklyn. Vulture Prince, her third full-length album, blends the bright clarity of new age music with the fluid, non-Western vocal tones of her Central Asian roots. “Last Night,” from an old Rumi poem but sung mostly in English, lilts in dub-scented syncopation, the thump and pop of stand-up bass underlining its bittersweet melody. An interlude in some other language shifts the song entirely, pitting vintage reggae reverberation against an exotic melisma. “Mohabbat” (which is apparently Urdu for sex) soothes in the pristine instrumentals, lucid guitars, a horn, scattered drumbeats, but smolders and beckons in the vocals. None of these tracks feel wholly traditional or wholly Western and modern day, but sit somewhere in a well-lit, idealized space. Timeless and placeless, Vulture Prince is nonetheless very beautiful.
Jennifer Kelly
 Assertion — Intermission (Spartan)
youtube
Intermission comes from an alternate timeline. Founding drummer William Goldsmith started his musical career in Sunny Day Real Estate and had a notable stint with Foo Fighters. To cut the biography short, Goldsmith took a decade off from the music industry. He's returned now with Assertion, joined by guitarist/vocalist Justin Tamminga and bassist Bryan Gorder (both of Blind Guides, among other acts). This band picks up in the late 1990s, imagining a new path for post-hardcore/post-grunge music. The trio's name suits, as the songs' energy and the lyrical assertiveness develops the intensity of the release. The group works carefully with dynamics, neither parroting the loud-quiet tradition nor simply pushing their emo leanings toward 11.
“The Lamb to the Slaughter Pulls a Knife” epitomizes the album. The track sounds like Foo Fighters decided to get dirtier rather than more arena-friendly, while the lyrics mix violence with emotional persistence. First single “Supervised Suffering” finds triumph in endurance, turning the aggressive chorus into something of a victory. “Set Fire” closes the album with something more delicate, but it's just the gauze over a seething anger. Goldsmith's time off seems to have served him well, as does collaborating with some new partners. Assertion makes its case clearly and effectively, and if the intermission's over for Goldsmith, the second half sounds promising.
Justin Cober-Lake
Michael Beach — Dream Violence (Goner/Poison City)
Dream Violence by Michael Beach
“De Facto Blues,” from Michael Beach’s fourth solo album, is a barn-burner of a song, rough and messy and passionate, the kind of song that makes you want to take a stand on something, who cares what as long as it matters to you. It snarls like Radio Birdman, slashes like the Wipers and follows its muse through chaos to righteousness like an off-cut from Crazy Horse, just back from rockin’ the free world. It’s got Matt Ford and Inez Tulloch from Thigh Master on guitar and bass, respectively, Utrillo Kushner from Colossal Yes (and Comets on Fire) on drums, and Kelley Stoltz at the boards, and it’s a killer. The rest of the album is varied and, honestly, not uniformly astounding, but there’s a nice Summer of Love-style psych dream in “Metaphysical Dice,” a slow-burning post-rocker in the title track and a driving, pounding punk anthem in the opener “Irregardless.” Beach has been splitting his time between San Francisco and Melbourne, Australia, and lately settled on Melbourne, where he will fit like a native into their thriving punk-garage scene.
Jennifer Kelly
 Bloop — Proof (Lumo)
Proof by BLOOP (Lina Allemano / Mike Smith)
The trumpet is already a catalog of sound effects waiting to happen, and Lina Allemano knows the table of contents by heart. So, to shake things up, she has paired up with electronic musician Mike Smith, who contributes live processing and effects to Allemano’s improvisations. A blind listen to Proof might leave you with the impression that you’re hearing a horn player jamming with some outer space cats, and we’re not talking about hip, lingo-slinging jazz dudes. In fact, everything on these eight tracks happened in real time. Smith’s a strategic intervener, aware that too much sauce can spoil the stew, so he mixes up precise layering and pitch-shifting with more disorienting transformations. It’s hard to say how much Allemano responds to the simulacra that surround her brass voice, but there’s no denying the persuasiveness of her melodic and timbral ideas.
Bill Meyer
Bris — Tricky Dance Moves (TrueStory Entertainment)
youtube
Bris left some music behind when he died in 2020, but it took almost a year to shape these recordings into a proper CD. The label CEO Mac J (a fine artist himself) could easily capitalize on his friend’s death, stacking Tricky Dance Moves with features from the artists Bris never would have worked with. Yet the album was prepared with the utmost care, not giving an ugly Frankenstein monster feel. Bris’s references to his possible early death are scattered throughout the whole tape: “Heard they wanna pop Bris cause they mad I’m poppin.” Almost every song could be easily turned into a prophetic tale (a cheap move one wants to avoid at all costs). Nonetheless, something is missing here. Or maybe it is just an image of death that disturbs the whole picture, making us realize that this is the last we’d hear from Bris.
Ray Garraty
 Dreamwell — Modern Grotesque (self-released)
Modern Grotesque by Dreamwell
I recently read an interview with Providence’s Dreamwell breaking down in almost excruciating detail the influences that led to the quintet’s sophomore full-length Modern Grotesque. I kept scrolling past Daughters and Deftones and Deafheaven and increasingly disconnected influences like The Mountain Goats and Nina Simone. I went back to the top and looked again. I typed Ctrl+F and put in “Thursday.” Nothing. This is preposterous. I may not be in the post-hardcore trenches the way I once was, but even I’d know a good Full Collapse homage if it swung a mic right into my face the way this one did; hell, just listen to “The Lost Ballad of Dominic Anneghi” and tell me singer Keziah Staska doesn’t know every single word of “Paris in Flames.” That may not look like flattery on a first read, but too often, bands striding the emo/pop divide have chased the latter into sub-Taking Back Sunday oblivion; what Thursday did was much harder, and Dreamwell has ably taken up the torch here. That they did it unintentionally is a curious, bewildering footnote.
Patrick Masterson
Paul Dunmall / Matthew Shipp / Joe Morris / Gerald Cleaver — The Bright Awakening (Rogue Art)
youtube
It’s a bit perplexing that reeds player Paul Dunmall hasn’t spent more time playing with American musicians. He’s firmly situated within the English improvisation community, where he’s perhaps best known for his longer tenure with the quartet Mujician, and his ability to double on bagpipes has allowed him to establish links between improvised and folk music. But
his jazz-rooted approach makes him a natural to work in settings such as this one. When Dunmall toted his tenor to the Vision Festival in 2012 (even then, it could be costly to lug multiple horns on a plane), he found three sympatico partners in Fest regulars pianist Matthew Shipp, double bassist Joe Morris and drummer Gerald Cleaver. They all hit the ground running, generating a barrage of pulsing, roiling sound for over 20 minutes before the piano and drums peel off, leaving Morris to sustain momentum alone. Dunmall’s gruff, spiraling lines find common cause with each of his fellows, and the gradual addition and subtraction of players from that point makes it easier to hear the exchange of ideas, which often seem to take place between dyads operating within the larger flow.
Bill Meyer
Editrix — Tell Me I’m Bad (Exploding in Sound)
Tell Me I'm Bad by Editrix
Wendy Eisenberg’s rock band is like her solo output in that it snarls delicate, self-aware, mini-short stories in complex tangles of guitar, hemming in high, sing-song-y verses with riffs and licks of daunting difficulty. The main differences are speed, volume and aggression (i.e. it rocks.) and a certain communal energy. That’s down to two collaborators who can more than keep up, Josh Daniel on surging, rattling, break-it-all-down percussion and Steve Cameron, equally anarchic and fast on bass. The title track is an all-out rager, thrusting jagged arena riffs of guitar and bass forward, then clearing space for off-kilter verses and time-shifting, irregular instrumental interplay. “Chelsea” follows a similar chaotic pattern, setting up a teeth-shaking cadence of rock instruments, with Eisenberg keening over the top of it. “I know, perfectly well, that we’re not safe, safe from the men in power,” she croons, engaged in the knotting difficulties of the world as we know it, but winning.
Jennifer Kelly
Elephant Micah — Vague Tidings (Western Vinyl)
Vague Tidings by Elephant Micah
The new Elephant Micah album, the follow-up to 2018’s excellent Genericana, has an apposite title. Vague Tidings conveys an atmosphere of feeling conscious of something carried on the wind, a story passed on that may have shifted through various iterations, leaving only a sense of its original meaning. All that can be sure is that this is sad, sober music, unafraid to brace against the chill of mortality and speak of all that is felt. The instruments — guitar, piano, percussion, violin and woodwinds — move around Joseph O’Connell’s voice in stiff yet graceful arcs, distanced by an unspoken etiquette. Repetitive melodic figures, stark yet steady, gradually accumulate weight as they roll along like tumbleweeds. It’s a crisp, forlorn country-blues, in no hurry to get nowhere, carrying ancient wisdom that seems to acknowledge the empty resonance of its own import.
Tim Clarke
 Fraufraulein — Solum (Notice Recordings)
youtube
Fraufraulein’s music is immersive. Anne Guthrie and Billy Gomberg beam themselves, and us along with them, Quantum Leap-style directly into multiple environments in medias res. Through the clever employment of field recordings, they transport us to a hurricane-addled beach, performing a voice/piano duet as driftwood missiles careen through the air. In another “episode,” the manipulation of small objects conjures up the intimacy of a water garden filled with windchimes. Partners in both life and art, Guthrie and Gomberg are also consummate solo artists. He is a master of spike-textured drones, while she explores the intimate properties of physical entities. Like a child tends to resemble one parent while borrowing subtle traits from the other, Solum identifies more with Guthrie’s electroacoustic tendencies than it does with Gomberg’s electronics. This is in stark contrast to 2015’s Extinguishment, which felt a little more balanced between those two modes. Both approaches work, yet Solum feels more meticulously crafted and nuanced. Careful listening unveils multiple subtle tones and textures, and each piece is an adventure for the ears.
Bryon Hayes
Gerrit Hatcher / Rob Magill / Patrick Shiroishi — Triplet Fawns (Kettle Hole)
Triplet Fawns by Gerrit Hatcher / Rob Magill / Patrick Shiroishi
The album’s title implies a crew you wouldn’t want on your yard; while those adolescent ungulate appetites do a number on your bushes, the hooves are hacking up your grass. But if they knocked on your door, saxophone cases in their respective hands, you could do worse than invite them around the back for some blowing. Hatcher, Magill and Shiroishi present with sufficient lung power to be heard fine without the reflective assistance of walls, even when they aren’t making like Sonore (that was Gustafsson, Vandermark, and Brötzmann, about a dozen years back). This album, which was released in a micro-edition of 100 CD-Rs on Hatcher’s Kettle Hole imprint, builds gradually from restrained melancholy to pointillistic jousting to a climactic blow-out, and the assured development of each piece suggests that each player was listening not only to what each of the others was doing, but where the music was headed.
Bill Meyer
A.Karperyd — GND (Novoton)
GND by A.Karperyd
On his second solo release, GND, Swedish artist Andreas Karperyd broodingly ruminates on snatches of musical ideas that have been percolating in his consciousness over extended periods. Anyone familiar with his 2015 debut, Woodwork, will find these 55 minutes similarly immersive, as Karperyd manipulates live instruments such as piano and strings into shimmering, alien tapestries. Opener “The Well-Defined Rules of Certainty” appears to take Fennesz’s Venice as its blueprint, issuing forth cascading, percolating tones that tickle the ears. “The Desire to Invoke Balance with Our Eyes Closed” and “Failures and Small Observations” have a Satie-esque elegance to their piano lines, albeit refracted via a hall of mirrors. The 12-minute “Reminiscence of Tar” sounds like a slow-motion pan across the hulking mass of a shadowy space station. And closing track “Mummification of an Empire” slowly fries its piano in static, then unfurls wistful melodica and throbbing synth across the wreckage.
Tim Clarke
Kiwi Jr. — Cooler Returns (Subpop)
Cooler Returns by Kiwi jr
Kiwi Jr.’s brash, brainy indie pop punk vibrates with nervy energy, like the first Feelies album or Violent Femmes’ 1983 debut or that one great S-T from the Soft Pack. Those are all opening salvos for their respective bands, but this one is a second outing, suffering not a bit from sophomore slackening. Instead, Cooler Returns tightens up everything that was already stinging on the Toronto band’s debut and adds a giddy careening glee. An oddball thread of Robin Hood-ness runs through the disc, with Sherwood forest getting a nod in the title track and “Maid Marian’s Toast” tipping the love interest, but these songs are anything but archaic. “Undecided Voters,” the single jangles harder than anything I’ve heard since Woolen Men, slyly upending creative pretensions in a verse that goes: “You take a photo of the CN tower/you take another of the Honest Ed sign/Well, I take photos of your photos/and they really move people.” Has it been done before? Maybe. Does it move us. Yes indeed.

Kool John — Get Rich, Die $moppin ($moplife Entertainment)
youtube
A year ago, Kool John was shot six times. Yet you wouldn’t know about it from the general mood of Get Rich, Die $moppin, his first tape since then. He does name one song “6 Shots” and explicitly mentions the shooting accident a few times on other songs, but his bouncy music says he wasn’t hurt bad after all. The beats perfectly match the rhymes, playfully ignorant and ignorantly playful. Kool John still doesn’t mix with broke people, doesn’t return calls if it’s not about money and “doesn’t get stressed out.” Instead, he gets high. His new tape is nothing groundbreaking, even though he’s pretending that is: “If I had no legs I’d still be outstanding.”
Ray Garraty
Nick Mazzarella / Quin Kirchner — See or Seem: Live at the Hyde Park Jazz Festival (Out Of Your Head)
See or Seem: Live at the Hyde Park Jazz Festival by Nick Mazzarella / Quin Kirchner
Perhaps the most remarkable thing about this recording is that the titular festival happened at all. While most festivals either canceled or went on line, Chicago’s Hyde Park Jazz Festival dealt with COVID by spreading out. Instead of big stages and indoor shows, last September it staged little pop-up events on sidewalks and in parks. So, if the sound of See or Seem feels a bit diffuse, it’s because it was recorded with a device propped in front of two guys playing on a grassy median. There are moments when the buzz of bugs rises up for a second behind Nick Mazzarella’s darting alto sax and Quin Kirchner’s brisk, mercurial beats. But the thrill of actually playing in front of some people (or actually being surrounded by them; when there’s no stage and social distancing is in effect, it makes sense to walk slow circles around the performers) infuses this music, extracting an extra ounce of joyousness from Mazzarella’s free, boppish lines, and adding a restlessness charge to the drumming, as though Kirchner really wanted to squeeze as much music as possible into this 31-minute set. This release is part of Out Of Your Head Records’ Untamed series of download-only albums recorded under less than pristine conditions. A portion of each title’s income is directed to a charity of the artists’ choice; the duo selected St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.

Dean McPhee — Witch’s Ladder (Hood Faire)
Witch's Ladder by Dean McPhee
Finger-picked melodies cut through haunted landscapes of echo and hum on this fourth LP from the British guitarist Dean McPhee. Track titles like “The Alchemist” and “Witch’s Ladder” evoke the supernatural, as does the spectral ambient tone, reminiscent of Chuck Johnson’s recent Cinder Grove or Mark Nelson’s last Pan•American album. Yet while an e-bow traces ghostly chills through “The Alder Tree,” there’s also a grounding in lovely, well-rooted folk forms; it’s like seeing a familiar landscape in moonlight, well-known landmarks suddenly turned unearthly and strange. The long closing title track has an introspective air. Pensive, jazz-infused runs flower into bright bursts of notes, not quite blues, not quite folk, not quite jazz, not quite anything but gorgeous.

Moontype — Bodies of Water (Born Yesterday)
Bodies of Water by Moontype
Margaret McCarthy’s voice swims across your headphones like being on an innertube drifting languidly downstream. Typically, saying someone’s vocals are like water indicates a degree of timidity or laziness, obscured in reverb or simply buried by the mix, but on Moontype’s debut LP, it’s a compliment: McCarthy floats across the different styles of music she makes with guitarist Ben Cruz and drummer Emerson Hunton. You notice it not just because she often sings of water or because it’s right there in the title, but also because the Chicago trio hasn’t settled on any particular style yet — just listen to the three-song stretch at the heart of the record where achingly beautiful alt-country ballad “3 Weeks” leads into “When You Say Yes,” a sub-three-minute power-pop number Weezer ought to be jealous of, followed immediately by crunching alt-rock swoon and first single “Ferry.” All the while, McCarthy lets her melodies drift to the will of the songs. I’m reminded of recent efforts from Great Grandpa, Squirrel Flower and Lucy Dacus, but the brief, jazzy curveball of “Alpha” is a peek into whole other possibilities. Bodies of Water is a fine record, but perhaps its most exciting aspect is how much ground you can see Moontype has already conquered. One can’t help but wonder what sonic worlds awash in water await.

Rob Noyes / Joseph Allred — Avoidance Language (Feeding Tube)
Avoidance Language by Rob Noyes and Joseph Allred
The 12-string guitar can emit such a prodigious amount of sound, and there are two of them on Avoidance Language. If Joseph Allred and Rob Noyes had planned things out in order to avoid canceling each other out, they might never have picked their instruments up, so they just started playing and listening. The result is not so much a summing of two broad spectrums of sound, but an instinctual blending of similar textures that ends up sounding significantly different from what either musician does on their own. Even when Allred switches to harmonium or banjo, as he does on the album’s two shorter tracks, the music rushes in torrential fashion. Their collaboration is so compatible that it often seems more like a recital for one big stringed thing played by one four-handed musician than a doubled instrumental duet.

NRCSSSST — S-T (Slimstyle)
NRCSSST by NRCSSST
There’s no “I” in NRCSSSST but there’s plenty of swagger. The Atlanta-based synth pop band, formed around Coathangers drummer and singer Stephanie Luke and Dropsonic’s Dan Dixon, taunts and teases in its opening salvo “All I Ever Wanted.” Luke rasps appealingly atop Spoon-style piano banging, and big shout along choruses erupt from sudden flares of synths. It’s all hedonism, but done with conviction. You haven’t heard a big rock song kick up this much fun in ages. “Love Suicide” bangs just as hard, its bass line muttering like a crazy person, unstable and ready to explode (and yet it doesn’t, it maintains its restraint even when the rest of the cut goes deliriously off the rails). Dixon can really sing, too, holding the long vibrating notes that lift these prickly jams into anthemry. It’s been a while since a band reminded me of INXS and U2 without sucking, but here we are. Sometimes guilty pleasures are just pleasures.

Zeena Parkins / Mette Rasmussen /Ryan Sawyer — Glass Triangle (Relative Pitch)
Glass Triangle by Zeena Parkins, Mette Rasmussen, Ryan Sawyer
Harpist Zeena Parkins and Ryan Sawyer have a long-standing partnership in the trio substitutes Moss Garden, a chamber improv ensemble with pianist Ryan Ross. But swapping in Danish alto saxophonist Mette Rasmussen brings about a change, not just in instrumentation, but attitude. She plays free jazz like a punk, impatient and aggressive, and Parkins and Sawyer are up for the challenge. This music often plays out like a battle between two titans, one blowing and the other pummeling, while Parkins seeks to liquify the ground upon which they stand. She sticks exclusively to an electric harp whose effects-laden tone is disorientingly alien, blinking beacon-like one moment, low as a backhoe engage in earth removal the next. The combination of new and old relationships promotes a combination of instability and trust that yields splendid results.

claire rousay — A Softer Focus (American Dreams)
a softer focus by claire rousay
In film, soft focus is a technique of contrast reduction that lends a scene a dreamlike quality. With A Softer Focus, claire rousay imbues her already intimate compositions with a noctilucent aura. She has created a dreamworld with sound. One glimpse at the glowing flowers that grace the cover art created by visual artist Dani Toral, with whom rousay closely collaborated on this release, and the illusory nature of the record is revealed. The reds, oranges, blues and purples of deep twilight are reflected in both the textures rousay weaves into her soundscapes and the visual themes that Toral conjures. Violin, cello, piano and synth are the musical origins of this warmth, which rousay wraps around environments crafted from the sounds of everyday life. She recorded herself moving about her apartment, visiting a farmer’s market, observing kids playing and just existing. These field recordings of the mundane, when coupled with the radiance of the musical elements, are magical. Snatches of conversation become incantations; auto-tuned vocals are the whisperings of spirits; fireworks explode into brilliant shards of crystal. With A Softer Focus, rousay takes a glimpse into the beauty of the everyday, showing us just how precious our most humdrum moments can be.

Axel Rulay x Verbo Flow — Si Es Trucho Es Trucho / Axel Rulay (La Granja)
youtube
Axel Rulay must be kicking himself right now. With more than three million plays on the original version and more than five million on the remix that adds verses from Farruko and El Alfa into the fray, the Dominican is cruising into our second pandemic summer with an unbeatable poolside anthem — and to think, after years of clawing his way up through the industry dregs, working to get his name out there, all he had to do was make himself the chorus over Venezuelan producer Manybeat’s 2019 tropical house trip “El Tiempo.” Presto: Massive visibility in the Spanish-speaking world and a song that ought to transcend any linguistic barriers unlocked even if the best I can manage is a title that translates as “If It’s Trout It’s Trout.” Expect that long-desired Daddy Yankee collabo to follow any day now.

Rx Nephew — Listen Here Are You Here to Hear Me (NewBreedTrapper)
youtube
Rochester rapper Rx Nephew trailed brother-turned-archrival-turned-back Rx Papi’s coming out party 100 Miles and Walk’in by just a few weeks with the 53-minute all-in proposition Listen Here Are You Here to Hear Me. Unlike Papi’s Max B-ish smoothness, Nephew is all rough n’ tumble through these 17 tracks, provocative pump action with narrative bursts of violence and street hustling delivered with a verve most akin to DaBaby or, in some of his more elastic enunciations, peak Ludacris. A recent Creative Hustle interview provides some insight: The first time he went into the booth, “I didn’t write anything. I just started talking about selling crack and robbing people.” The stories haven’t stopped since. If he can keep putting out music as engaging as Listen Here…, Rx Nephew is destined for more than just the margins; until then, we have one of the year’s densest rap records to hold the line.
Patrick Masterson
Nick Schofield — Glass Gallery (Backward Music)
Glass Gallery by Nick Schofield
Nick Schoefield, out of Montreal, composed these 13 tracks entirely on a vintage Prophet 600, the first synthesizer to designed to employ the then-new MIDI standard established by the instrument’s inventor Dave Smith and Roland’s Ikutaru Kakahashi. The instrument has a lovely, crystalline quality, floating effortless arpeggios through vaulting sonic spaces. Though clearly synthesized, these pieces of music resonate in serene and peaceful ways, evoking light, water, air and contemplation with a simplicity that evokes Japan. “Water Court” drips notes of startling purity into deep pools of tone-washed whoosh and hum. “Snow Blue Square” flutters an oboe-like melody over eddying gusts of keyboard motifs. The pieces fit together with calm precision, leading from one beautiful space to the next like a stroll through a museum.

Archie Shepp — Blasé And Yasmina Revisited (Ezz-thetics)
Tumblr media
The Ezz-thetics campaign to keep the best of mid-20th century free jazz on CD shelves (yes, CD, not streaming or LP) breaches the walls of the BYG catalog with a disc that issues one and a half albums from Archie Shepp’s busy week in August 1969. Blasé is a stand-out for the participation of singer Jeanne Lee, whose indomitable and flexible delivery as equal to the demands of material that’s be turns pungently earthy and steeped in antiquity. But the rest of the band, which includes Philly Joe Jones, Dave Burrell, some harmonica players, and a couple members of the Art Ensemble, is also more than equal to the task of filtering the blues and Ellingtonia through the gestures of the then-contemporary avant-garde. “Yasmina,” which originally occupied one side of another LP, makes sense here as an extension of the raw, rippling “Touareg,” the last tune on Blasé, into exultantly African territory.

 Juanita Stein — Snapshot (Handwritten)
youtube
Juanita Stein was the cool, serene, Mazzy Star-evoking vocal presence in the Aussie dream-gaze outfit Howling Bells, and she plays more or less the same role on her third solo album. Yet she is also the source of mayhem here, kicking up an angst of guitar-freaked turmoil on “1,2,3,4,5,6” then soothing it away with singing, hanging long threads of feedback from the thump-thump-thumping blues-rock architecture of “L.O.T.F.” and crooning dulcetly, but with a little yip, in the trance-y title track. This latter cut reflects on the death of her father, a kindred soul who wrote a couple of Howling Bells songs for her and passed away recently. It distills a palpable ache into pure, distanced poetry, finding a cool, dispassionate way to consider the mysteries of human loss.

The Tiptons Sax Quartet & Drums — Wabi Sabi (Sowiesound)
Wabi Sabi by Tiptons Sax Quartet & Drums
Over its 30 years together, the Tiptons Sax Quartet has done less to hone its sound and more to figure out how many styles to embrace. The group (typically a soprano, alto, tenor, and baritone sax joined by percussion and even including some vocals) can dig into trad jazz but sounds more at home in exploration, adapting world music or other traditional American styles. The title of their latest album, Wabi Sabi refers to the Japanese concept of finding beauty in and accepting imperfection. The Tiptons, despite that sentiment, don't approach their play with a sloppy sound; in fact, they're as tight as ever. The understanding of impermanence and imperfection does help contextualize their risk-taking. When they turn to odd yodeling on “Moadl Joadl,” they find joy in an odd vocal moment that highlights expression and discovery over formal rigor. When they tap in New Orleans energy for “Jouissance,” we can connect the dots between parades and funerals, celebrating all the while. The whole album serves as a tour of styles and moods, always with an energetic potency. If it's more of the same from the Tiptons, that just means continuance of difference.

If Mindhunter gets renewed for a third season, do you think Bill and Holden would interview Ted Bundy? How would it go?
Being the notorious serial killer that he was, I’m sure having Bill and Holden interview him in the series was always planned, or at least considered. I know they structure the interviews purposefully around the rest of the plot so it would be interesting to see exactly what other forces might be shaping that kind of conversation. Famously, Bundy did talk to the FBI extensively about his killing and his internal logic so there’s definitely plenty of real material to go off of - probably more than one episode or 20 min scene could contain.
Pre-Atlanta, I think Holden would have had the same star-struck curiosity about Bundy as he did about people like Speck and Manson, but things might be different in a potential S3. We see Holden coming face-to-face with a present-day killer and having to grapple with the immediate consequences of that person’s actions. He saw first-hand the excruciating pain and darkness that Williams brought on all the families in Atlanta, and that’s changed him. He may not be so giddy to be talking to a man who killed 40+ women (the number is still unknown today for Bundy) over the course of his murderous career. On the other hand, what happened in Atlanta might make him even more determined to understand these men so that they can stop them more definitively in the future.
Bundy certainly has a lot to offer. Like Kemper, he was a talker and a narcissist. As Wendy points out, post-crime behavior can be just as important as the killing and planning. As most people know, Bundy joined his own defense team during his trials and created a pretty big media fiasco - and appeals that went on for years. A lot of people described him as charming and a smooth-talker, and most folks can agree he was objectively good-looking. For Holden, no matter what terrible things have happened in the past, I think it might be hard for him not to get sucked into Bundy’s charisma and delusions of grandeur. Bill, on the other hand, would likely find his self-aggrandizing even more appalling than Kemper (who at least had the realism to admit he was a virgin and couldn’t attract women.) I can imagine things playing somewhere between the Speck interview and the Kemper conversations - Bill being realistic and disgusted, Holden being intrigued and fascinated. They wouldn’t need to bribe Bundy into talking, making for a long interview rife with important details, a killer’s fantasies, and his unique and eloquent manner of detailing and, at times, romanticizing his crimes.
However the MH team would create this interview would be fascinating, and they always manage to find the best guest stars to portray the killers. A Bundy interview is definitely on my wishlist along with the Green River Killer investigation and Robert Hansen in Alaska!

Are there any fairly obscure books, movies, plays, historical events etc. that haven’t been made into musicals yet that you would love to see made into musicals?
Well idk if they are obscure but I have TONS of things I would like to see as musicals. Honestly this question is so exciting.
First off I was gonna include "Como agua para chocolate" de Laura Esquivel but I found out throughPlaybill that is gonna happen so I am super excited to see how that turns out.
So yeah here is my list:
BOOKS:
"Mas rápido que el deseo" by Laura Esquivel. (This is a beautiful love story told from a dying father to her only daughter, and the way sound is used in the book always made me think how beautiful it would be to see it as a musical)
"Aura" by Carlos Fuentes (this one made me think how few "thriller" musicals we have and Aura would be incredibly easy to produce cuz there are very few characters and you wouldn't need a big production. It tells the story of a young man who comes to leave with a Window and her niece with whom he falls in love only to discover a reeaaaally creepy secret)
"Amor en tiempos de cólera" by Gabriel Garcia Marqués (This one is an epic and long love story, I think it has the potential to be as legendary as Le Mis or Phantom)
"Leonora" by Elena Poniatowska (this is the novelization of Leonora Carrington's life, she has a lot of contact with diverse artist of her time such as Miró, and deals w her struggles w mental illness)
"Duerme" by Carmen Boullosa (this one is about a young woman during Colonial era in México, she dresses as a man is quite unconventional . It's historical background is also super intresting )
"Northanger Abbey" by Jane Austen (according to Google there has been a musical adaptation but I would like it if this was given more of a SIX or &Juliet approach, I mean c'mon Catherine is pretty young and has these wild fantasies cuz she is such a bookworm they would be so funny to see on stage)
The Bear and the Nightingale by Katherine Arden (this would be kinda hard to adapt but I just think it would be visually gorgeous)
"Middlemarch" by George Elliot (I think it has so much potential to be an amazing musical i just imagine the selfrighteous Dorothea singing about how she wants a pious and intelligent men who guides her and opposes her ideas at the beginning of the musical and then a reprise trying to pretend she has got her way in marrying Casaubon. Kind of like a "Thank Goodness" moment.)
"Foul is fair" by Hannah Capin (this one is quite a recent book, it's a retelling of Macbeth and it blew me away. It would be more of an edgy musical like Heathers, but the message is more about rape culture )
"Like a Love Story" by Abdi Nazemian (this one tells the story of 3 teens meeting on 1989 and bending through Madonna while fighting for LGTBQ+ rights. Ofc this would have to be a jukbox musical and honestly I can't think of a better way to make a musical w Madonna songs)
"The Queen of the Night" by Alexander Chee (maybe a bit too on the nose, cuz it already has a musical element, but honestly the story is just amazing and pretty dynamic)
"Space Opera" by Catherynne M. Valente (again quite a recent book but it draws so heavily from the Eurovision song contest, and it's fun and campy. Also why aren't there more Sci-fi musicals???)
MOVIES
"Ladyhawke" (I used to love this movie when i was younger and would love to see it as a musical)
"10 things I hate about you" (why isn't this a musical already??? The movie is iconic, it's a fun Shakespeare retelling, would have such fun songs)
"The lost boys" (ok so I know vampire musicals haven't fared well, but I think that's cuz the approach is waaay to serious, honestly this would make for a campy fun musical with some amazing costumes)
"Rocketman" (C'mon this writes itself. Like it would work perfectly for a stage adaptation)
"The corpse bride" (it already has a couple of songs and honestly it would be so cool visually)
"Twilight " (HEAR ME OUT!!! This one should only be made by Starkid cuz it shouldn't be taken seriously it should be a fun parody of the YA literature at the time with lots of selfawareness, and sarcástic humor. I put this one on the movie category cuz let's be honest the movies had some killer soundtrack)
"My Best friend's wedding" (I mean the Pretty woman musical was ok i guess but this one already has an iconic music scene, and I think the story work better for a musical)
"Dirty Dancing" (again c'mon why isn't this a musical but Ratatouille got so much hype on tiktok???? Like this would have gorgeous dance numbers, humor, heartbreaking scenes)
"Dangerous Liaisons" (I know there is a musical based on the modern adaptation "Cruel Intentions" but this movie was amazing! Like i think this version would work better for the stage)
PLAYS
"A Streetcar named desire" by Tennessee Williams (so there is an opera and that hillarious Simpson's episode but I really would love to see this one as a musical )
"El burlador de Sevilla" by Tirso de Molina (I am a fan of Don Juan Tenorio, but I think El burlador would work better for a musical, the ending works better and it's female characters are waaaaay more intresting and fleshed out)
"La casa de Bernarda Alba" (I think this would be amazing, I picture Bernarda as an alto the story is super character driven and there is a lot of internal monologues that could translate perfectly into songs)
"Turandot" (so this is an opera but I think this one would be an amazing option for a musical, the main themes of the show are love an revenge , ofc it would have to be re worked as much of the names and settings reek of Orientalism , like idk what Puccini was doing giving characters names like Ping, Pang, Pong but yeah it has the potential)
"Machinal" by Sophie Treadwell (this is one of my favorite plays, it's set on the 20's and I think it would make a great musical with a tragic ending we all see coming)
"Uncommon women and others" by Wendy Wesserstein (this is about a bunch of woman who reconect at a lunch and they start talking about their time as college students during the second-wave feminism and how they discovered themselves through it )
"Awake and Sing!" By Clifford Odetts (first off the title rocks so fitting for a musical, then we have the story of Jewish immigrants on the Bronx pursuing the American Dream)
HISTORICAL EVENTS
- I would love to see a musical about the Golden Age of Mexican Cinema, like most productions back then were musicals and it would reintroduce to the world iconic mexican actors such as Pedro Infante, Silvia Pinal, Jorge Negrete, Dolores del Río, etc etc.
-A musical about the artists of the Italian renaissance. I would do this in the style/tone of Something Rotten!
-A musical about Leona Vicario .
-A musical about real pirates like Madame Cheng
-I know it's a Biblical story so maybe not true but I think it'd be cool to see a musical about King Ahasuerus, Vashti and Esther .
And that’s all I can think of the top off my head.

The world is about to change with Biden and Harris in office. It is great to have Harris in there. More women in power is so important. Women don’t think with their dicks. I mean, a pussy likes to fuck just as much but we can also get some work done. Men are rarely as good at multitasking.  The inauguration went off with high security after the Trump insurrection. 5 were killed as the traitors stormed the Capitol on Jan. 6 but Biden still became the President on the 20th. Some last headlines and thoughts and facts about the end of the worst Presidency in our history. Let’s hope this is the last of the news about the Traitor in chief except for paying for his crimes. Unity does not mean there are no consequences for criminals. Make no mistake Trump and some of his followers are criminals. **Here are a few things I ran across: Vanilla Ice played Mar A Lago for NY Eve.** After the riot many rats started to jump ship like Elaine Chao, Hope Hicks and Betsy Devos. Her husband, Jayson was arrested for exposing himself to a minor and for domestic abuse.** Trump was impeached again.** “Republican colleagues broke down in tears saying that Republicans are afraid for their lives if they vote for this impeachment.- Congressman Jason Crow.** Mike Pompeo cancelled his European trip after Luxemburg’s foreign minister and top European union officials declined to meet him.**232 was the number of votes to impeach him and the number of electoral vote in his loss to Biden.**Trump’s interior secretary had his own flag** Trumps EPA guy made super- secret phone calls in his own phone booth and had 24 hour security.** Toby Keith and Ricky Scaggs received the National medal of arts. ** The Supreme Court tossed out a lawsuit claiming that Trump violated the emoluments clause. ** Dominion voting systems sued Rudy.** Trumps impeachment lawyers, Butch Bowers and Deb Barbier quit. Word is that they refused to say the election was stolen. The new team seems to include Bruce Castor who would not prosecute Bill Cosby and Epstein’s would be lawyer David Schoen. The Cannibal’s Book Collection -  Chapter 3: An Unexpected Pet
Chapter Summary: Will has an unexpected addition to his pack and has unintended consequences that aren't necessarily bad. Note: Afternoon everyone, this is my 6th Hannibal story. I've only been apart of the fandom for 11 days its already affected me. The meaning of "roast (insert name here)" has completely changed and I'm not really sure how to feel.
Thank you to everyone who has read this story, so far. This story is also posted on FFN and Ao3
Length: 2,542 words (4 pages)  Tag List: @wilfordwarfstacheisbae, @matt10nt, @fuckmethomasshelby, @lamb-and-knife Link
Date: 16/05/20 Time: 3:39 pm – 6:12 pm
Will had no idea how he ended up adopting a Wendigo. He'd found the Monster trapped in a bear trap in the woods around his house. He had no idea why there was even a bear trap in the woods around Will's house. The thought someone setting something like that in his forest made Will's insides boil.
He had done an extensive amount of research on Wendigo's after finding the one in the forest, hoping to avoid any unwanted surprised in the future. He knew the Wendigo had been hunting in the forest but hadn't a real meal in a long time as evidence by him almost bitting Will's hand when he gave the Wendigo one of the meals Hannibal had cooked.
He found the Wendigo could disguise himself as a normal if rather a large dog and had taken to following him wherever he went. Jack had been annoyed Will had brought one of his stays to a crime scene but soon shut up when Wendi growled and snapped at him. Wendi didn't like anyone in the BAU except for Hannibal.
He was strangely okay with the man. Will had been incredibly embarrassed when Wendi had eaten the meat Hannibal had been preparing in his kitchen when they were invited over to his house. It was then that he remembered Wendigo ate human, he always seemed to enjoy Hannibal's food.
It didn't take Will long after that to figure out what Hannibal was and even less time after that to figure out he was the Chesapeake Ripper. The fact they had kidney pot pie when there had been a Ripper kill that day, the body had been missing several organs, one of which was likely in the kidney pie.
None of which Will got to eat as Wendi had eaten it before he could. Will knew he wasn't going to get to eat any of Hannibal's food in the future if it contained even a little human. He didn't bother trying, telling Hannibal to give the rest of what was going to be his to Wendi. He seemed curious but accepted without much complaint. They had regular meals with Hannibal after that.
Will would bring food for Hannibal to cook, any food Hannibal tried to give Will that had even a little human in its Wendi would eat it before Will got the chance.
Will and Hannibal had just sat down to eat when they got a call from Jack request (read: demanding) their presence as The Ripper had struck again, which wasn’t possible as Hannibal hadn’t been out of his sight for the last six hours. He had been teaching Will how to cook. Wendi stealing bits of meat when he got the chance.
Will definitely knew Hannibal hadn’t been responsible due to the kill only being an hour old at the most, that and all the organs were in their correct place though it looked like the Killer had been in process of removing them from the victim’s body. Wendi had whined and whimpered but stayed near Will’s legs.
Will knew Wendy wanted to eat the body but knew he wouldn’t. Will told Jack someone other than The Ripper had killed this person. They were, however trying to copy The Ripper. Jack hadn’t been pleased when he heard that and made the mistake by hitting Will and yelling at him. Everything stopped.
Will said nothing, he was used to this sort of behaviour what he didn’t count on how Will’s rather big dog and Hannibal would react. Hannibal was glaring at the back of Jack’s head like he was imaging killing Jack. Will knew Hannibal didn’t like Jack. Now he knew Hannibal was The Ripper he knew he had been trying to teach Jack a lesson. One he clearly hadn’t learned but he would learn very soon.
He had been more than rude and callus. He was constantly blackmailing and bribing Will into working for the BAU. It didn’t matter what Will’s emotional or mental state was like or what Will himself thought. Jack didn’t care for him and was only using him because he had a useful gift that allowed him to catch the killers the stalked the streets of Baltimore.
Will knew he would never be able to escape the BAU with his sanity intact. Wendi’s reaction to Jack yelling and hitting Will was far more sudden and rather… violent and made everyone freeze in fear. Everyone but Will and Hannibal. Wendi growled and snapped and snarled at Jack after knocking him to the ground, landing on his chest.
He suddenly looked far bigger then he had before and far more dangerous. Was he always that big? Where his teeth always that sharp? Everyone scrambled to get away from the ‘dog’ that really looked like a dog anymore. He looked much more like a wolf and they couldn’t help but wonder where Will had found him, he was staring down at Jack with unnatural red eyes.
He growled one last time, snapping at Jack’s throat in warning before stalking back over to Will and Hannibal. He looked far more intelligent than any of them had been expecting
It took Zeller a minute to realise Wendi was standing between Jack and Will and Hannibal. He came up to Will’s waist. His ears pinned against his head as he growled lowly in a warning. Zeller, Beverly and Jimmy knew Jack’s treatment of Will had the best chance if he didn’t want to end up injured, that was a clear threat and challenge.
Will’s ‘dog’ would kill them if something were to happen to Will or Hannibal. Will didn’t appear alarmed, just surprised as he petted the top of Wendi’s head. He was staring down at Jack, who had yet to get up with a cold look on his face. Far colder than Beverly expected. None of them really understood Will and how he was able to get inside people’s head but found it creepy, but no one said anything.
They knew they would be screwed with Will’s help so tried to be as nice as possible and stay out of his way as much as possible and get him anything he needed.
Beverly, Zeller and Jimmy knew how Jack got Will to help with them with cases. They knew Jack would continue to use Will until the younger man was no longer any use to them, they had no idea what would happen to Will when Jack no longer felt like he was any use to the BAU. He’d more than likely end up in a mental hospital, being deemed insane due to his work with the FBI.
They knew Jack Crawford held no love for William Graham. He never had, he would continue to use the man in order to catch killers and make himself look better but Will would never get the help he truly deserved because if that happened then Will wouldn't be as good at his job which they all knew would wrong.
Zeller knew Jack Crawford held no love for Will Graham. He never had, he would continue to use the empath to catch killers and make himself look better but Will would never get the help he truly deserved because if that happened then Will wouldn’t be ‘as good’ at his job, which Zeller knew was stupid.
Will would do a better job if he was mentally and emotionally stable and had someone to talk to about his problems and that wouldn’t punish him. It seemed Jack had unknowingly given Will exactly what he needed in order to get better in the form of Hannibal Lector who clearly cared about the man. He may not have outright said it but his actions certainly said more than he ever could.
He cared about Will a great deal, how and when that had happened Beverly, Jimmy and Zeller weren’t exactly sure, but they knew he would do anything for Will. They also knew Hannibal Lector was a very dangerous man and not someone you wanted to get on the bad side of. He was after all capable of killing and would if someone pissed him off enough.
Oh yes, they knew he was Chesapeake Ripper but they never said anything to Jack, he hadn't treated any of them well, he never thought about their feelings or waited for their opinions on things, often pulling them away from their families and friends to help with cases in the early hours of the morning or during important events.
Often pulling them away from their families and friends to help with cases in the early hours of the morning or during important events. Jack would continue to message and call them until they answered and come in and helped with whatever case he needed them for. Yelling at them in front of everyone.
He'd certainly done it to Will plenty of times, regardless of the fact Will was most likely up all night with nightmares or hadn’t gotten any sleep.
He was shorter tempered on those days, Beverly always made sure she had coffee on hand for those days, she knew it helped. If only a little. Beverly, Zeller and Jimmy looked after Will, even if Jack wasn’t going to, even if meant ordering strong, slightly too sweet coffee in the morning and bringing leftovers from the night before then they would do it. Jack never seemed to notice.
Will had put on some weight since he’d met Hannibal which was good. He was far too skinny. Zeller knew the Doctor had been cooking for him and couldn’t help but be a little jealous. Hannibal Lector was an amazing cook and everyone knew it. He would look after Will and would make sure he never got hurt.
In return Zeller, Beverly and Jimmy never told Jack who Hannibal was and made sure he never got too close to figuring it out.
They had their own abilities they had never mentioned to Jack knowing how he treated Will. Jimmy had known Will’s ‘dog’ hadn’t been normal, even if back then he hadn’t been as big as was now. Even if he was perfectly friendly, Jimmy had always felt like it was an act, like he was trying to lull them into a false sense of security and let their guard down.
He had never caused Zeller, Beverly or Jimmy any trouble, one more than one occasion Jimmy had seen him lick the blood off the crime scene and even eating any stray chunk of the body. Jimmy never said anything though. They were fine with him as long as he looked after Will and didn’t cause them too much trouble.
Beverly knew he definitely wasn’t a normal ‘dog’ after he had knocked Jack on his arse with ease. He looked far bigger and lot more threatening and dangerous. She knew without a doubt Jack had better be careful otherwise he might end up the ‘dogs’ next meal and Will would have a perfectly good excuse for why his dog had bitten Jack.
"I told you the Ripper didn't do this Jack, all the organs are here, the Ripper would never leave the organs behind. This killer had is more than likely a Copy Cat as the kill is similar to that of the Ripper's but not at the same time, this Killer was interrupted, likely by the person who reported the death. Now, if you'll excuse me I would very much like to go home and have dinner," Will snapped, his eyes cold and hard.
He did not care for Jack at all. Not that anyone present blamed him. Jack Crawford was a horrible man who only cared about his job and no one else. Jack watched as Will and Hannibal got into Hannibal car and drove off, that huge ‘dog’ sitting in the back seat watching him with. Jack shivered.
----------
Hannibal sat quietly as he listened to Will rant about Jack and how callus and cruel he was, he’d known Jack was using him for a long time, he was only helping the BAU and the FBI because it was the best use for his skills and he could help catch killers. He hadn’t set down any ground rules when he had first come to help and his mental and emotional state was suffering because of it.
He had been getting better since he’d met Hannibal, the nightmares were lessening. He was still having problems with sleepwalking but was learning to deal with it. He no longer changed out of his everyday clothes, ensuring the “went to bed” with warm, thick clothes on knowing he would end up outside at some point during the night.
His nightmares weren’t truly nightmares anymore, they had mostly stopped after he’d found Wendi trapped and hurt in the forest. They were now of the cases he was working on or of Hannibal and the small amount of information he had gathered on the man.
He had been trying to order his mind a bit, hoping it would help him deal with the nightmares. It had. He was getting better at packing the memories away into the different boxes and rooms around his house. He had used the forest to store some of the memories.
Will had been trying to organised his mind a bit, hoping it would help him deal with the nightmares. It had. He was getting better at packing the memories away into the different boxes and rooms around his house. He had used the forest and the river were distractions and protection. His dogs were also added in. Wendi was his last defense. Things changed after he added Wendi. Hobs finally left him alone.
The other ghosts left him alone. He knew he was safe in his own mind, though he was careful when creating his mental world, trying not to wander too far. His body tended to follow his mind. At least he no longer woke up feeling cold. He had been shocked when he had first woke paralyzed and unable to control his body to find Wendi had followed him.
Stand instead of crawling along the ground like he usually did.
He grabbed Will’s wrist and lead him back towards the house, making sure he didn’t trip and helped him to bed before curling around him. Will thanked him for the next day and had explained that he sometimes got sleep paralysis. He was awake but unable to control his body.
Note: Thank you for reading. I should have the next chapter up soon

Here's the storyline in the Extended Cut of the Scream franchise.
First it's the Extended Cut of Scream (2022)
Tumblr media
●During Tara's being attacked by Ghostface, Wendy Hicks was at home with her brother & sister Wes & Lexi & her friends Rebecca & Matthew Bishop but her boyfriend Kurt Parker saying he could not make it. The five were watching a 80's horror movie Gremlins but Becca pushed for Prom Night. Becca said "Come on Jamie Lee Curtis is a horror icon!" In the next morning Wendy gets a call from Judy telling her that Tara was attacked by someone wearing a Ghostface mask, Wendy drops her phone & looks over at Lexi & Wes. Wes immediately calls Sam & Wendy calls Carrie Riley-Weathers.
(The American Scream by Alikaline Trio & Billy S. by Skye Sweetnam & then American Idiot by Green Day plays)
●In this extended scene not only brings the kids at the panic table but it also brings the introduction of the two brothers related to Judy Hicks in the form of William & Frederick Hicks better known has Will & Fred who has their own friend group called The Friendly Posse which the members are: Joanna Thompson, the half-brothers Craig Karbar & Malik Hubar, Susan Winters, her older sister Eleanor "Ellie" Winters, the brother-sister duo of Yolanda & Philip Preston (known as Phil), Kimberly "Kim" Watson, Gabrielle "Gabby" Stafford, Emily Jones, Angela Stewart, her younger sister Luna Stewart, Sylvester Bradford, Andrea Lewis (who's been friends with Luna Stewart & Emily Jones), Andrew "Andy" Anderson, & Samuel Johnathan & Jennifer Annie Kincaid who better known as Sam & Jenny (who is related to their younger sister Graceland "Grace" Prescott) who has shown up in Woodsboro High. They're all have been friends ever since what happened to Tara Carpenter who's probably still alive but really injured when she's attacked by someone wearing a Ghostface costume & mask, they started to suspect to learn that nobody can be safe from the killer who's on the loose, they started to list the suspects of Chad & Mindy Meeks-Martin, Matthew & Rebecca Bishop, Liv Mckenzie, Kurt Parker, Amber Freeman, & Wes, Lexi, & Wendy Hicks. Will can't believe there's an women in police uniform & it's none other than their mom Judy Hicks, he & Fred also can't believe there's two blondes are Wes & Lexi & an redhead is Wendy heard their siblings & their friends talking about them being suspects, they're meeting their brothers & the Friendly Posse where everybody is arguing about being suspects also Liv & Gabby meet again since they were children & all the kids of the Hicks family gets awkward & surprising reunion. Judy Hicks wants Wes, Wendy & Lexi to take Will & Fred with them by keeping an eye on them, they're about to meet Carrie Tatum Riley-Weathers & Sam Carpenter with her boyfriend Richie Kirsch at the hospital, Carrie & Sam hugs everybody & introduced Richie the people that Sam babysit & Carrie's friend Wendy & the twin siblings Matt & Rebecca Bishop, Lexi introduces Sam to Will & Fred who has shown up in Woodsboro, the brothers responds back to Sam by saying hi. Also Amber Freeman says hi back to Sam. Also Landon Andrews stops by to see his childhood friend Tara.
●The kids went to the bar while Sam is staying with her sister Tara Carpenter & Landon Andrews in the hospital & the brothers questioned everybody why they can't get back their friends because their friend group The Friendly Posse talks about them being suspects, they're talking about Sam Carpenter that Chad says that Sam's cool also Mindy said Sam lets him one-sies in bed & he said that's a true statement but Amber said that she's isn't cool & telling everybody what happened to Sam & she's wants to protect Tara but Wes said "So wait you're protecting Tara from her own sister?" Amber said "Well somebody has to." Everybody talks about Wes that he had a crush on Tara until Liv's ex-boyfriend Vince gets her but Chad protects her, Fred yells that Vince gets a knife out of his pocket, he tolds Fred to shut up or he stabs him but Will comes up protects his brother from Vince by using his martial arts background to disarm & beats him up, the bartender tells him to get out or she's calling the cops & she's also gets them out too.
●At the Meeks-Martin household, during Mindy's monologue, she's accuses Wes & Matt of being the killers just like Billy Loomis & Stu Macher but Wendy & Becca come quickly to their defense of their brothers & explain how they were there at the night. After that Wes apologize to Matt for what happened so he decides to his feelings for Carrie. Matt accepts his apology so they're becoming friends again.
●Wes, Wendy, Fred, Will, & Lexi minus Landon head back their home as their mom Judy startles at them while she holds a knife,
"Are you guys being safe out there?" She asks them.
"To the point where all of our friends mock us, yes." Wes said.
"Good." Judy said.
"What's for dinner?" Lexi said as she gets a text from Chad.
"Sushi. I was just leaving to pick it up." Judy said.
"Why don't you just Postmates it?" Wes asked her while Lexi was texting Chad back.
"Oh, it gets all smooshly by the time it's here. I know you hate that. Go take a shower. I'll be right back soon." Their mom tells them.
"I promise to be back before you get home. I have to go meet up with Chad. He wants to apologize more we're meeting each other halfway." Lexi said as she opens the door & before their mother can speak then she speaks up. "I have my taser & pepper spray. Don't worry. I love you guys." Lexi said as she shouts so they shout it back.
After that, Wendy mentions that to Wes that she needs to pick up something from Kurt's house, Wes immediately said no & that he doesn't trust Kurt. But Carrie intervenes, offering to drive Wendy there & bring her home after, Wes reluctantly agrees & hugs Wendy, telling her he loves her, "Ew, Wes... I love you too." Wendy said as she tells Wes & hugs him. "I'll see you when you get home." Wes said. "You promise?" Wendy asked. "I promise." A promise that Wes intended to keep but couldn't.
"What about us?" Will asked their mom.
"You both are staying with Wes until i'll be back but you both can have fun upstairs but don't make any noises. Wes, keeping an eye on them." Judy said.
"Don't worry mom, i'll keep an eye on them." Wes said.
●At Kurt's house, Wendy is only greeted by his mother, "Oh Wendy dear, Kurt's not home, he said he had football practice." Mrs Parker said. "But football practice got canceled because of the attack on Tara..." "Look Mrs Parker, i'm just here to pick up some of my notes for algebra, can i just run up to his room & grab them?" Wendy said. "Sure, dear." Mrs Parker said. Wendy ran up to his room & grabbed her notes but noticed a Ghostface mask sitting in a pile of dark clothing on the floor. Backing out of the room, she bumps right into Kurt Parker, "Baby, what are you doing here?" "Just grabbing my... notes..." Wendy said as she gets visibly nervous. "Everything alright, baby?" Kurt asked. "Yeah Kurt, everything is fine, absolutely fine." Wendy said. "Do you want to stay the night? You know i could protect you." Kurt said. "I really should go home Kurt, my mom & Wes are waiting for me there." Wendy said.
●Meanwhile, as Lexi was blocks away from the house, her mom honks the horn then passing her & waving making her laugh. A lot of people thought that Judy Hicks was a little over the top with her bubbly personality but Lexi loves it. She was super close to her mom, brother, & sister. They were all they have since their dad is an piece of shit & left their mom there to raise them alone.
"Are you walking yet?" Chad said as he calls Lexi.
"Yeah, i'm walking. I'll be halfway in a few more minutes. Why couldn't you have thought about this when i was over not too long ago?" Lexi said.
"I'm a little slow at times. You know this." Chad said as he laughs. "You got your protection with you?"
"Of course. I love to be safe & my mother would kill me if i left at home without it." Lexi said as she laughs.
"Very true. You, Wendy, Fred, Will, & Wes are such mommy's girls & mommy's boys." Chad said.
"Hey! She's the only parent that we got dude." Lexi said as she hears a siren & watches her mother speeding up by going back towards the house.
"What was that?" Chad asks as Lexi stops walking.
"My mom just left to get dinner & just speed past going back all the way towards home." Lexi said then she's thinking the worst. "Oh My God! Wes is home alone so is Will & Fred!"
"Le-," Lexi hangs up on Chad & putting her phone away & running home as fast as she could.
●When Lexi gets in view she sees her mom's car with lights willing in & the door wide open, "MOM!" Lexi said as she runs across the street & sees her mother's body laying in the walkway. "Mom! Mom!" She's checks for a pulse & gets nothing. "WES!" She gets up running for the front door & opens it but something was on the other side of the door. She pushed it more & has enough room to see Wes died on the floor making her cry out louder. "Wes! No." When Will sees his mom Judy Hicks gets killed, he's in shock & he's called in help as she's squeezes though bending down, grabbing him to see his neck.
"No, no, no, no." Lexi screams out hearing more sirens getting closer.
●When the other helped arrived, they had to help walk Lexi away from the house because she kept crying but she can't leave them alone & Will comforts her until the two people in a blue Ford Mustang saw both people dead, one with the binoculars, the other with the eyeglasses signed Will that they'll be happy to help if they want Will & Fred to meet with them tonight.
"Can you tell us what happened again?" A deputy asking Lexi as she's starting at her dry bloody hands.
"My mom just left to get dinner & I left to meet with a friend, leaving Wes alone with Will & Fred. When I was almost to my friend's house, my mom speed up past going all the way back to the house & i thought the worst. I got here & saw it, it was the worst." Lexi said as she cried.
●Landon talking to Sam about the killer tried to kill him but he told him that the only reason he's alive because he made a promise.
"I don't get it. Why after Tara? He killed everyone." Sam said.
"Unless there is actually two killers." Landon said.
"Yeah & the other killer is you. Maybe you are & Richie is right." Sam said.
"You think that i killed them? You think that i could do something like that? That i could... that I could killed a person? A human being? Especially my mom & my brother?" Landon said as he's getting speechless of what Sam is saying.
"I don't know." Sam said.
"Oh shit, Tara." Landon said as he saw the deputy at the crime scene.
"Hold on, Richie. Landon where are you going? Sam said.
"Tara is in trouble & looks like the cop that was at the hospital is talking to Dewey. So i'm heading over to the hospital right now." Landon said.
●Meanwhile the two argued some more... when they arrive at the Hicks house, Wendy sees the the bodybag in the front door & hops out of Carrie's car (her dad's old vehicle) running towards the body before Dewey stops her "No." Dewey nods his head, "Wes?" Wendy asked through tears, Dewey nods again as Carrie walks up & Wendy's legs gave out. "Dad, what's going on?" Carrie said as she looks over to the crew pulling out another body bag, "No..." She looked back at her dad as she holds Wendy, "No. No. NO!......" Will, Fred, & Lexi heard Wendy & comforting her, Lexi tells Fred & Will to go with Wendy & Carrie while she finds Tara in the hospital, the brothers responded "Be careful!" But Sam said "No, Lexi. Your family..."
"Is gone. I lost my mom & Wes & i'm not best friend too. So i'm going with you." Lexi said as she gets in to the backseat & Dewey gets on to the passenger seat.
●Meanwhile, Matt takes Becca home... sometime later a crying Carrie calls Matt that Wes & Judy Hicks gets killed by Ghostface. Before Dewey leaves with Sam & Lexi to the hospital, Matt gets there & asked by Dewey to watch over both Wendy & Carrie.
●After Dewey's killed by Ghostface, Matt comforts Carrie before she goes back to her mom. Matt asks Wendy if she wants to go to the party that Amber is throwing for Wes & she's told him yeah. Lexi comforts Carrie & her mom Gale Weathers.
"Gale." They heard & look over at Sidney Prescott. "I came as soon as i heard."
"I'm so sorry." Sidney said.
Sidney & Gale hug as Sam & Landon looking on & Lexi is sitting down.
"Hi Sydney." Lexi said.
"Hey Lexi. It's the last time i saw you, you were so tiny." Sidney said as she gets Lexi a hug.
"Well, i'm 18, not 7." Lexi said as she hugs her back.
"I'm sorry about your mom & your brother." Sidney said.
"Thank you." Lexi responded.
●Meanwhile Sam & Landon talking to Tara while she's awake.
Landon said "Hey, Tara. How are you feeling?"
Tara said "Well everytime i get attacked, they give me better painkillers. There's that.
Sam said "I'm sorry."
Tara said "For what? You saved my life.
Sam said "For not telling you sooner. For being the reason dad left."
Tara said "You're not the reason dad left. You can't choose where you came from or who you came from. I don't blame you for that. I blame you for leaving the both of us.
Landon asked "Us? What do you mean us?
Tara replied to Landon "Landon, you & me."
Sam said "That's never gonna happen again."
Tara said "I know. Why didn't you come to me back then? I could have helped.
Sam said "Because i was scared."
Tara asked "Of what?"
Sam said "I was scared that i would turn out just like him. So i ran. To protect the both of you. From me.
Tara said "Sam, you could never be like him."
Landon said "Sam, you ran from home to protect Tara. You are nothing like Billy, you don't need to worry. Tara are you high?
"Tara said "I'm so high right now. Not even gonna lie.
Everytime Tara said that, it's makes Sam laugh.
Sam & Landon said "I love you."
Tara said "I love you guys too. So what do we do now?"
Sam said "What nobody ever does in these situations."
Landon said "We are getting the fuck out of Woodsboro right?"
Sam said "Right."
Meanwhile, Lexi sees Tara after she's talking to Richie.
"Come here." Tara said as she opens her arms for Lexi to cry into them.
"I have no one. My mom & Wes are gone. I just found them Tara." Lexi said.
"You're not alone, Lexi. You have me still. You can come with Sam & me." Tara said as she pulls back from the hug.
"You're my best friend. Way more than Amber. Please just don't tell her that i said that." Tara said as they both laugh.
"Hey, Lexi." Landon said as Lexi turns around as she sees him.
"Oh My God, Landon." Lexi said as she hugs him, turning out he's okay. "I'm glad that you here. Are you okay?"
"Yeah, i'm all right." Landon said.
"You both know each other?" Tara asked.
"Yeah, Landon is our stepbrother." Lexi said. "It's been a long time."
Yeah, it's been a long time. Landon said. "How's everybody?"
"My mom & Wes gotten killed, Will & Fred is staying with Wendy & her friends & Carrie is here." Lexi said as she wiped her tears from your eyes. "Have you show up at our house?"
"Yeah, i was here earlier to Wes, but when I saw Wes getting attacked, I was there to stop Ghostface, then he tries to stab me but he spares me because he tolds me that i'm still alive because he made a promise." Landon said.
"Hey Lexi, you coming?" Carrie said.
"Yeah." Lexi said.
●As Lexi is leaving with Carrie to the party, Landon leaving Woodsboro with Sam & Tara Carpenter & Richie Kirsch but he decided to stay with Sidney Prescott & Gale Weathers to catch the killer.
(Pressure by Kamaiyah plays)
●Meanwhile at Amber's house, an party goes on at full swing,
Chad gets a shot of beer & he said "Hey! To Wes!
Everybody said "To Wes!"
Chad drinks a shot of beer until Amber shows up & said "Shots really? This is supposed to be a memorial."
Chad said "Well this is how i mourn... & distracted myself from the looming specter of death.
Mindy said "Hey, we're low on beer."
Amber said "There's more in the basement, i'll go & get some.
Amber went to the basement to get more beer from the fridge until Mindy shows up, spooks Amber then she said "What the fuck Mindy? Jesus!
Mindy said "That was a test... & you failed. You never go off on your own when an masked killer around.
Amber said "You're the one that said we needed more beer.
Mindy said "Yeah & you should have asked me to come down here with you.
Amber smiled at Mindy who still stared at her then said "You know what else you shouldn't do when a masked killer around?
Mindy said "What?
Amber said "Follow someone into a dark creepy basement alone. I mean... how do you know i'm not the killer?
Mindy said "Because i am. I'm not actually, but let that be a lesson: Don't. Trust. Anyone."
Amber said "Then how can i trust you when you say you're not the killer?"
Mindy said "Exactly. You're learning. Now let's go back upstairs.
Amber goes upstairs but stops then looks at Mindy said "You first."
Mindy said "Very good."
Mindy grabs the beer & heads upstairs & Amber follows her.
(Guilty Conscience by 070 Shake plays)
●Meanwhile Chad & Liv making out, she wants to take upstairs but Chad said he don't want to do that which leads to their breakup, Liv storms out pissed, Mindy is glad of Chad taking their uncle's advice, then Chad pulled out a thumb up then a middle finger & said "Fuck you Mindy." Then Wendy's boyfriend Kurt doesn't understand boundaries & Matt kicks him out of the party. Until Lexi & Carrie showed up at the party, checked Wendy if she's okay. Will & Fred who is still in shock what happened to their mother & brother Wes, they started to find some help until they being easily approached by the two siblings in the form of Isabella & Damien Yales better known as Izzy & Dame shows up, asked them to come over to get help, the brothers agreed, the kids quietly leaves from the party but Wendy, Carrie, Chad, Mindy, Lexi, Matt, & Becca knew the brothers doing something sneaky but this time Will & Fred are getting help, but Lexi said "Where do you thinking you're going?" Will said "We're getting some help." Wendy don't want Will & Fred share the same fate as their mom & brother did earlier, Izzy said "They're looking for some help in a desperate time of need." Lexi said "We got Dewey but now he's dead so why do you bring Will & Fred to meet with somebody when everyone is a suspect?" But Izzy said "Actually? I think we know someone who's a childhood friend of ours who know something about that."
Will & Fred said "Uh-Oh."
(Trouble by Shampoo plays)
●At another house Will & Fred's friend group The Friendly Posse watching a scary movie but they wasn't alone & not the only ones watching, there's also another friend group led by the two brothers in the form of Terrence William & Lawrence James Watkins (better known as Terry & Larry). They're both horror movie buffs, specialists, & survivalists also gamers who have has their own friends such as Laura "Lori" Sanchez, Miranda Rodriguez, Connor "Cash" Conway, his older sister Yvonne Conway (who's probably the baby half-sister of the killer Jill Roberts), Terry's girlfriend Katherine "Katie" Jones, Kathleen "Kathy" Willamson, Roland "Rory" Williams, his sister Elaine Williams, Graceland "Grace" Prescott, Rory's girlfriend Elena Connors, Grace-Lynn "Gracie" Moore, Dorothy Johnson, her younger sister Riley Johnson, Marty McCreary, Trent McCoy, Richard Jackson, his girlfriend Nicole Kennedy, & also Lori's older sister Lorraine "Lynn" Sanchez. As they all watching the original movie Halloween with Jamie Lee Curtis, they experienced how Michael Myers kills people with his signature butcher knife, Richard rants about why they watching it over & over, Terry sushies him, Marty said "I want to see her breasts, I want to see Jamie Lee's breasts, where do we see Jamie's breasts?" Terry said that Jamie Lee Curtis is always the virgin in horror movies also Gracie responds to Terry that she's a legitimate scream queen in the 70's or 80's, Dorothy said "I could afford a decent pair.", Terry heard what she said but Craig asked them "How it that turned out? Like somebody is out-think or out-maneuver the killer.", Larry agrees about that but he lets Terry telling him about that, Terry tells them that they have to outsmart the killer in the big scene in the end, only virgins can do that, he asks them "Do you know the rules?", then Phil asks "What rules?" Terry can't believe that they don't know about the rules of horror films, but Larry comes up to help him out, tells them that if they are familiar or too familiar about the rules, he lets Terry telling him about the do's & do not's what you do in a horror movie, Samuel thinks that Terry telling them about the aspects of a horror movie but Terry said "No, but there are certain rules that one must abide by in order to successfully surviving a horror movie." Terry tells them the rules of horror films by using his kind of the same horror movie monologue used by Randy Meeks then Marty said "I'm getting another beer you want one?" Larry said "You'll get two for both of us." Terry said "Yeah sure." Marty said "I'll be right back!"
Everybody said "Oohh!"
"You can't fucking said that! You know there are rules to survive a horror movie, you can't fucking said that man!" Larry said.
"Yeah, you see what happens if you push the laws, you've ending up dead. Okay, i'll see you in the kitchen but don't said that again you should not said it in the first place." Terry said.
"I'll go with him to get the beer if you don't mind." Trent said.
"All right, go do that but keep an eye on him." Terry said.
"Man, i want more beer! We want some beer! Where is the beer?" Craig said.
"You always want more beer." Malik said.
Seriously? You drank a full can of beer." Samuel said.
"I can call my best friend Amber to bring over an pack of beer." Elaine said.
"Guys, we got more than just beer, we got water, soda, chips, popcorn, & fruits in there. There's plenty around here." Terry said.
"I could make fruit salads if everybody want one." Miranda said.
Everybody agrees that Terry & Miranda saying they all have in the kitchen.
"I can afford to order some pizza." Kathy said.
"You always love eating pizza." Terry said to Kathy.
"I don't eat pizza especially they put pineapple on a pizza. I mean who does that?" Miranda said.
Everybody said "Domino's!"
"Domino's does that Miranda." Terry said.
●Meanwhile, Trent & Marty are getting the beer while they arguing until Chad shows up & said "Where's your buddy?"
Marty said "He's not here."
Trent said "Hey! No jocks in the house."
Chad said "Who are you calling an jock?"
Chad tosses Marty & punches Trent & saws Terry & said "YOU!"
Terry said "Holy Shit."
Chad begins going to tackle him as Terry runs & said "Larry!", Larry swoops in to save his older brother & attacks Chad by wrapping his arms around his throat & said "What are you doing here at our house? You think you're some tough guy huh? I could beat up tough guys like you but you are some angry tough jock!"
Chad said "I ain't no jock!"
Larry said "There's no jocks in the house. No thanks to that long hair, huge curly top girlfriend of yours."
Chad said "Dude that's gross! That's my sister you talking about."
Larry said "It doesn't matter if your sister shows up here!"
Terry runs to upstairs & goes to the room but he saws Lexi & Wendy Hicks who's probably behind him & said "Why did you killed our brother?"
Terry said "You probably got the wrong guy." He's dodging the Hicks sisters, lock the door & heading downstairs, siding down the stairs using his athleticism,
Katie & the others tell Terry "What's going on?"
Terry said "That's what's going on."
Everybody defending Terry as Rebecca, Matthew, Wendy, Lexi shows up attacking Terry,
Will & Fred who has shown up as Andrea said "Will? Fred?" The brothers responded "Andrea? You guys? What are you doing here?" Sam, Jenny, & Kim said "What do you think? We watching a scary movie." As Will, Fred & their friends arguing, Richard, Nicole, Gracie, Elena, & Rory explained to them that their siblings & their friends attack Terry, Amber Freeman shows up, surprising her best friend Elaine, they have a reunion, Elaine introduces everybody to Amber Freeman, Kim, Yolanda, Gabby, & everybody of The Friendly Posse knows who Amber is, Izzy & Dame shows up as well,
Izzy said "Hey Terry, Catch!"
Izzy throws the gun to Terry as he loads it then points it on everybody & said "What the hell are you all doing here at our house!?"
Will said "We came here looking for some help."
Larry said "Yeah, unless there's an pissed off jock attacked my brother for no reason."
Chad said "I said I ain't no jock!"
Terry said "Well maybe you got a good reason why you show up here."
Katie said "I didn't see Mindy."
Terry said "Izzy? Dame? What are you guys doing here?"
Izzy said "We just got here to bring Will & Fred to you until everyone just come here to know what's going on because they said you killed Wes & Judy Hicks & Dewey Riley."
Terry said "What!? I did not do that!"
Will said "We didn't say that, they all saying that you killed our brother Wes & our mother."
"Will!" Wendy said.
"My brother didn't killed everybody." Larry said.
"No, they're all saying that you both have killed our brother Wes & our mother & Dewey Riley." Fred said.
"Fred!" Lexi said.
"What?" Fred said.
"You know Terry didn't do any of that. I didn't see Mindy." Katie said.
Terry said "Me neither."
Mindy said "Mm'hmm."
Terry & Katie notices that Mindy didn't show outside at the window, she's showed up at their house,
Katie said "AH!"
Terry said "Whoa! What in the fuck Mindy? You scared the shit out of us!"
Larry said "Mindy? Do you & you people think that you attack my brother about me & my brother did something to some people earlier? You son of a-"
Larry squeezes Chad around the throat as Mindy said "Let my brother go! You're about to turn him a little blue."
Larry lets go of Chad & gets there to protects Terry but Mindy said "Don't try to protect him because I tell him why, you've let your older brother start explaining the rules by starting mimicking our uncle Randy."
Everybody said "Uncle Randy!?
Larry said "Whoa, whoa, whoa, you're both his son & daughter are you?"
Mindy said "No, we're uncle Randy's niece & nephew.
Larry scoffs & Mindy stares at the brothers.
Terry asked "You want to know why about explaining the horror movies in general Mindy?"
Mindy sighed "What?"
Terry said "You always talk about requels of the movies already released, but they have horror movie villains in every single franchise out there such as Freddy Krueger, Jason Voorhees, Michael Myers, & countless others, some people watch remakes of these movies like Universal's classic monsters, but here's the thing they watching Prom Night at every single time, they're watching the horror movies in general because they have source material, because every source material has an every simple formula, EVERYBODY'S A SUSPECT!"
Everybody is heard what Terry is saying.
Larry said "No, not you guys.
Terry said "Now you know why about that & you people just breaking to our house in the first place."
Terry turns around as he sees Amber Freeman.
Amber said "Really sweetie? (Laughs) How'd we know if you guys are not the killers?"
Matt said "Yeah, how do we know if you guys are not the killers? Huh? Huh? Huh?"
Amber flirts with Terry & Matt tries to grab him in his shirt collar but Larry & Katie protects him.
Terry said "Uh, hi Amber."
Larry said " Hey look, that's not how it looks like man."
Matt said "Well maybe my best friend's mother & brother who's probably my childhood friend just got killed & my girlfriend's dad also got murdered earlier so it might be a good reason that you both show up here."
Terry said "Well maybe you people just got here to Woodsboro because of the murders occurred in three decades ago. But the question is: how are we know if you guys are not the killers?"
Wendy, Lexi, Matt, Carrie, Chad, & Rebecca heard what Terry said & they wasn't happy about it. But Will & Fred tells them about their alibi.
Will & Fred said "We're not, we just-" Will & Fred trying to tell them that but Mindy cuts them off as she's tells Terry about that. "Because I am."
"What?" Larry said as Terry turns around as he heards that Mindy said & he starts to shoot her & everybody stops him from shoot Mindy but she said as a joke "Whoa, don't try to shoot me Terry because I'm not the killer exactly but let's make one lesson clear: Don't. Trust. Anyone.
"Then how the hell can we trust you even you guys are definitely not the killers?" Terry said as he defends his girlfriend, brother, & their friends from the killer as they all at the same situation they're in.
"Which is definitely the point." Larry said as he, Katie, & everybody protecting Terry at the same situation that he's already in.
"Exactly. You both learning. Looks like we saw you all watching the original movie Halloween just like our uncle Randy does." Mindy said as she noticed that everybody watching the original movie Halloween with Jamie Lee Curtis.

To Quote Wendy Williams, "THE KILLER IS ESCAPING!" | Bian Le | Trial 3.1 | ATTN: Shin | RE: Esmee, Manami
"I... I think I know who the third person is. Well, not exactly who. But I can narrow it down and put some label on it...?"
Bian speaks up suddenly. Her voice is still small, and it wavers silently, but she seems to be stable enough to keep going. After her outbursts in the past trial, she's doing everything she can to stay calm and not fall back into panic.
"It mostly hinges on what I saw, and what others have claimed to see. I'd have to hear from Shin to confirm a few things, but for now... I should start with my own testimony.
...I was in the storage room alone from 7 to 8:15PM. There were so few memories left, and I was worried that mine would be next. Mine is... it's very graphic, is all I feel comfortable sharing. I wanted to be alone if it hit, so I chose a place I didn't think anyone would go. This means that whoever took the lance Manami, Esmee and I found broken in the storage room had to come after that point.
After that, I left for the fountain area. Nao was there, so I said hi. I also saw Avery and Theophania, but they were having a conversation, so I didn't want to interrupt. I was only there for about two minutes.
After, I left for the smithy, and I stayed there until the body was found. I got there at about 8:18PM. I talked with the Smith for some time. I saw a few people come and go, interestingly. Vee got there at around 8:40PM, and joined our chat. It was a very tame conversation, all things considered. Vee then left at 9:20PM. I decided to just draw in silence while the Smith worked,,, parallel play does wonders...
I was alone again until 10:02, when Nao came by. I showed them my drawing, and then looked around at the Smith's items for a bit. They didn't buy anything, though. They were gone 10:15. Only ten minutes later, at 10:25, Shin showed up for a moment. I assume he could sense Frank was in danger since they were bond mates. He ran off, and only three minutes later was the body found.
The only question I have is how long was Shin searching? This might narrow things down, but... we'll have to see."
With her testimony out of the way, Bian starts to sketch something out in her journal, nodding to herself.
"I'll be blunt. The killer had to be the "third unknown person."  Esmee and Manami are completely correct. There's many reasons for this... but I can explain it.
For one, Meili died at 10:23, and Shin found the body only five minutes later. Frank was never killed, too. This seems... off to me. It's a fortunate coincidence that Frank can't remember anything, yes? You would think the killer would make sure to take Frank out too. They could've falsely assumed he died already, but still... that's a giant risk to take... unless the killer somehow knew Frank wouldn't remember this, leaving him alive was extremely risky.
And with how narrow the timeframe was, I don't know if the killer could've left the scene before Shin arrived. That's a five minute time frame, which may be doable, but I can't imagine the killer immediately taking off. They likely would've been trying to clean up, dispose evidence- anything else. They also could've been waiting to see if Frank passed naturally- means less of a headache or evidence against them....
We tested this, and the killer could've been caught with the fountain's secret entrance open. They likely had to be careful. Which leads me to my next point... the killer had to use hide in plain sight. They could've also used it during the murder or right after to be safe, too. This way, if the body was found, they could easily run out and come in while pretending to have an alibi.
Not only that- the murder itself started in the fountain room, up the stairs. We all saw the damage there... the killer could've hid in plain sight there with how visible the room is. Just in case somebody went in, right? They also could've been trying to sneak up on Frank and Meili. There's many possibilities, but... they all suggest hiding in plain sight.
If that isn't enough... why else would someone hide in plain sight at the scene of the crime right after it took place? If someone came so close to the time of the murder to hide in plain sight, then they had to have seen the killer. An accomplice is pointless, because it's all risk and no reward, especially when getting the killer wrong still puts the accomplice at risk. If someone stayed behind for other reasons, that'd only cast false suspicion on them... the killer has to be the third person."
Bian stares back down at her journal, frowning, before suddenly turning the pages to the end- opening up the magic journal.
"I almost forgot... this isn't relevant to my point, but Frank and Meili made plans in the journal after Frank's memory was shared. They were going to play music together. It's right in there if you look..."

WU Reviews: Mindhunter Season 2 Episodes 3 & 4 reviewed by Ariana Zarate '11 (@arianazarate89) and Leah Way '13 (@leahway)
Ariana and Leah have combined forces to give WU readers an in-depth review of Mindhunter Season 2, which you can now binge watch on Netflix. If you want to watch the show and then read their recaps, we are posting episode-by-episode reviews on WU. This show is creepy and disturbing, so be forewarned that they may spoil some weird moments for you. But if that’s your thing, dive into the bizarre and wonderful world of Mindhunter!
Episode 3
While Season 1 centered more around Ford and his life away from work, Season 2 is devoted more to Tench and Dr. Wendy Carr (the third member of their taskforce). At the end of Episode 2, we learn that there was a body found at one of Tench’s wife’s real estate listings. Nancy, Tench’s wife, is completely devastated and falls into a panic. We learn that the murder is a particularly disturbing one - a toddler was found tied to a cross, dead.
Meanwhile in Atlanta, Georgia, Ford is meeting up with Agent Jim Barney to interview two convicted killers: William “Junior” Pierce and William Henry Hance. What follows next during these two interviews is a humbling experience for Ford, who is so used to being able to seamlessly get into his subjects’ heads. Ford’s interrogation techniques are highly intellectual - Pierce and Hance are not. Ford’s usual techniques prove ineffective. Barney saves the day by realizing an overtly intellectual, jargon-laden approach isn’t going to work. Interviews done, Ford checks into his hotel and meets Tanya, which sets off the chain of events for Season 2. Tanya learns Ford is an FBI agent and immediately offers to escort him to his room. Clearly with something on her mind, she leaves only to come back and invite Ford to the best meal in Atlanta. Ford, thinking he was just asked out on a date, quickly showers and freshens up, eager for the date. Much to his surprise, she takes him to a closed restaurant to meet four mothers whose boys have gone missing or have been killed. She begs him to help but the mothers are unimpressed with his age and are jaded about the police or the FBI being able to help. Ford promises to help as much as possible, not yet realizing just how hard it will actually be. Ford and Barney talk to some members of law enforcement familiar with the string of kidnappings and murders but they are unhelpful, saying that Atlanta simply has a high murder rate so nothing is really out of the ordinary and that the real perpetrator is poverty. Soon it is time for Ford to return to Quantico. Dr. Carr has an eye for bartender Kay and she asks her out, in an awkward manner but hey, it was the 80’s and it was hard for gay folks. Get it Wendy! Meanwhile the BTK is somehow confident enough to be sketching women in bondage in public IN THE LIBRARY with headphones on. Like man, you’re just asking to get caught - do that shit in private or I don’t know, maybe leave the headphones off so you can hear people approaching.
Episode 4
The Atlanta Child Murders have taken a hold of Ford and he tries to persuade the taskforce to make this their next case, putting off their scheduled interviews. None of the team is on-board but new Assistant Director Ted Gunn, who is looking for a way to make this taskforce cutting-edge, is very much interested. A recent report that a child was kidnapped and taken across state lines gives them the excuse to involve the FBI so Gunn sends Ford and Tench to Atlanta, much to Dr. Carr’s chagrin. A frustrated Agent Smith (the fourth and last member of the behavioral taskforce, shunned by the team after he reveals unedited audio to FBI leadership behind everyone’s backs) tells Dr. Carr they should do the interviews themselves. After all, he says, they were the ones that did the background research on the interviewees. Dr.Carr agrees. The interview with Dr. Carr, Smith, and Elmer Wayne Henley, Jr. is one of our favorite scenes. It is painful for Smith but a laugh for the audience. Clearly Smith is the guy whose experience exclusively comes from books and papers - this serves him none when face-to-face with a convicted killer. Henley dances circles around the ill-prepared Smith while Dr. Carr side-eyes the whole time before finally taking the reins of the interview. She opts to go off-script…the very tactic she criticized Ford for using. Dr. Carr loosens Henley’s lips by telling her own similar story where she was in a submissive/dominant relationship with an older woman she later left because she was too controlling.
And can we just all take a moment of silence for the oblivious Smith, who later asks Dr. Carr how she was able to “make up” a story on the fly to relate to Henley. Dr. Carr does not respond. Boy is clueless. #haroldtheyarelesbians
Speaking of gay things - Dr.Carr and Kay go to a bowling alley for their date. Immediately, the contrast is visible in how they dress. Dr. Carr is in a stiff pencil skirt, pretty much what she wears for work every day and, based on what we see the rest of the season, possibly the only type of clothing she owns. Kay is in tight jeans and a t-shirt/vest combo, the uniform of lesbians everywhere. The date goes well but things get tricky when Wendy trips over her words and insinuates that Kay’s job as a bartender is only a temporary thing and she might want to do something “better”. Regardless, Kay is understanding, and they have a fine rest of the night. Meanwhile in Atlanta, Ford is also tripping up with racial relations. Boy genius tells the Atlanta Commissioner (a Black man) that the perpetrator they are looking for for the murder of Black boys is a Black man. Looking at the Commissioner’s face, it is obvious that this is exactly what he did NOT want to hear. The Black community is pointing fingers at the KKK and extremists, which certainly makes sense, but Ford is myopically focused on following the young data that shows serial killers tend to stay within their own race. Due to Ford’s faux pas, the Commissioner declares the kidnapping a hoax, thus nullifying the FBI’s need to be involved. He sends Ford packing back to Quantico.
Tench, back in Virginia early after having been summoned by a frantic Nancy, is about to hear a bombshell. Nancy reveals that their adopted son, Brian (who might have autism but is unconfirmed in the show), confessed to being inside the house at the time of the murder. And what’s more, putting the body on the cross was his idea. Unfortunately, the confession came out when the agent was present, so… yeah it’s gonna be a tough season for the Tench family and the family of the deceased toddler.

HALLOWEEN III: SEASON OF THE WITCH (1982)
When a man (Al Berry) clutching a Halloween mask is admitted to Dr. Challis (Tom Atkins)'s hospital, the man is soon killed by a mysterious stranger, who also kills himself shortly after. Meeting up with the victim's daughter Ellie (Stacey Nelkin), Challis decides to look into her father's death and find those responsible. Their search takes them to the headquarters of Silver Shamrock, a company currently selling a line of extremely popular Halloween masks. Challis and Ellie encounter a few other people, toy store owners who sell the masks in their stores, who have come to discuss their next shipments with Shamrock's president - Conal Cochran (Dan O'Herlihy). Ellie is soon kidnapped by Cochran's followers, which turn out to be robots. Capturing Challis as well, Cochran explains that he is a follower of the ancient ways of witchcraft and Halloween's original, darker origins, and is using ancient magicks to pull the ultimate prank - Sacrificing the children who have bought his masks, a sacrifice he demonstrates on the Kupfer family. Escaping his imprisonment, Challis rescues Ellie and the two use Cochran's own technology against him, killing him and burning Silver Shamrock to the ground. Unfortunately, the masks are still being worn by thousands of children and the commercial that activates their magic begins to play...
Halloween III: Season of the Witch is known by a lot of people as that Halloween movie. The unrelated one, the separate one, the one that has nothing to do with the saga of Michael Myers and Laurie Strode. Supposedly, the plan was to use Halloween III as a starting point to make the Halloween films a series of unrelated, anthology stories centered around the holiday. Unfortunately, with the original Halloween being an enormous hit and Halloween II only cementing the fact that the series was centered around the white-masked killer, Halloween III was doomed to failure no matter how good the film may or may not have been on its own. And how does it stand as its own film, a story of a believer in ancient magic using Halloween masks to slaughter children? Honestly, it has potential, but it's not perfect. It has a good premise and some genuinely creepy moments, but a lot of scenes are dedicated to Challis and Ellie simply sitting around and talking about how weird everything is. There are times where it almost doesn't even feel like a horror movie and comes across as more of a mystery/thriller type film.
The movie's most chilling sequence is easily when Cochran kills the Kupfer family, with Buddy Jr.'s mask apparently eating his head and releasing a torrent of snakes and insects to kill his parents. Unfortunately, while there are a few other gruesome kills throughout the movie (in fact, all the deaths in this film are surprisingly brutal, even for a horror movie), most of them don't really have the same unsettling supernatural feel as the Kupfer family's death, leaving the film without a lot of stand out horror sequences. Then there is the fact that Cochran's business suit minions are robots and his entire operation is so technology-heavy, with the masks even utilizing computer chips to activate their powers. Considering his plan is about dark magic and witchcraft and the ancient mystic power of Stonehenge, such a heavy emphasis on technology seems odd and out of place. Sure, a robot army can be creepy and all (the concept works perfectly in The Stepford Wives, among others), but why couldn't the henchmen simply be loyal followers of Cochran, or perhaps brainwashed by his power? Why do the masks need computer chips? Scrapings from Stonehenge (which has dark, supernatural properties) are already mixed into the latex, so why can't their death-dealing abilities simply be innate powers of the masks themselves? This doesn't ruin the film by any means, but it does succeed in making Cochran's scheme far more complicated than it needs to be.
Tom Atkins plays the heroic if not slightly sleazy Dr. Challis. A divorced man, he tries to be a good father for his kids but does not succeed, cancelling on them at the drop of a hat anytime something comes up. Though perhaps that isn't fair, as the film doesn't really give us a chance to become familiar with Challis and his family before we get thrust into the main plot. It's almost funny that he gets involved in Ellie's search for the truth so quickly and so heartily considering the police are still investigating her father's death and at the time he has no real reason to believe they won't solve it. Then, of course, there's his penchant for sleeping with a girl so young looking he actually has to ask her how old she is... After he's already had sex with her. This may have been an attempt by the movie to lampshade the age gap between Atkins and Stacey Nelkin, but it's not placed very well and either way it makes the hero a little more 'ew' than was no doubt intended. The aforementioned Nelkin plays Ellie - a pretty young woman looking for her father's killer - well enough, but sadly Ellie's fairly bland as a heroine. Being sad over her father's death is all we really get from her and she disappears for a good chunk of the movie once the final act begins. Once she's seemingly reunited with Challis, the twist that she's actually a robot is a good one, but it raises so many questions - Was she outright replaced by a robot duplicate? Was she turned into a robot? Was she a robot from the beginning (which could arguably be hinted at with "Aren't you just the least bit tired?" "No.")? If she was one of Cochran's robots, why did she help destroy Silver Shamrock, and why didn't she shut down once the control panel was destroyed like all the others? Such a huge twist might've worked better had it happened earlier in the film and was a little more clear as to exactly what the twist was. Irish actor Dan O'Herlihy brings us Conal Cochran, a good and very different villain from Michael Myers. Quiet and intense, he clearly finds joy in the idea of slaughtering untold numbers of innocent children. The scene where he monologues to Challis about the ancient ways of Halloween is captivating and one of the more memorable scenes. His death is a satisfying one, but the close up of his face turning into what looks like aluminum foil probably should've been cut and kept as simple as dying from the laser.
Thankfully, time has been kind to Halloween III. While it was panned upon initial release due to its lack of Michael Myers and overall connection to the first two films (aside from occasionally showing the original Halloween playing on TV...), people have since come to enjoy the film on its own merits. While not the most amazing horror movie, it does deserve this newfound love. The scares, while not plentiful, are effective; the special effects are done well and quite unsettling, and the Silver Shamrock commercial jingle is a tune that will never leave your head after you hear it. While Michael Myers has come back plenty of times, Conal Cochran and his malicious masks have yet to enjoy a revival of their own.

let’s crack open everyone’s character examine strings
eta: okay, think i caught everything
several of other people’s lines for winona feel really.. unpolished, to me. i haven’t seen any that were straight lifted from the generic ‘player’ lines but i wouldn’t be surprised if they’ll eventually be tightened up? or maybe my expectations are too high
WILSON
GENERIC = "Hey [Wilson]! How ya doin'?" ATTACKER = "Hands to yourself, bucko!" MURDERER = "Mad scientist! Get'em!" REVIVER = "You're good people, scientist." GHOST = "Stop whinin', [Wilson], it's just a scratch!" FIRESTARTER = "You better not have singed any of my projects, scientist."
elsewhere winona refers to wilson as ‘that egghead’ but it doesn’t read with particular malice to me
GENERIC = "Good day to you, [Winona]!" ATTACKER = "[Winona] is a safety hazard." MURDERER = "It ends here, [Winona]!" REVIVER = "It's pretty handy having you around, [Winona]." GHOST = "That probably threw a wrench into her plans." FIRESTARTER = "Things are burning up at the factory today.”
whee, puns

‘maxy’ is how charlie referred to him, in the william carter puzzles
GENERIC = "Greetings, Ms. [Winona].”, ATTACKER = "[Winona] has been roughhousing like a commoner.", MURDERER = "You've engineered your own demise!", REVIVER = "[Winona] expertly uses all tools at her disposal.", GHOST = "My, you're looking spirited today, [Winona].", FIRESTARTER = "It's not wise to start factory fires, [Winona]."
considering what she insinuates about you, it may not be wise to taunt her about factory fires, max!
WX78
GENERIC = "C'mon, [WX-78]! Justa [sic] tiny peek under the hood!" ATTACKER = "Yeesh. They're on the fritz again." MURDERER = "I'll reset you to factory standards, bot." REVIVER = "Ha! The bucket'o'bolts has feelings after all!" GHOST = "Incredible! You gotta tell me how that works, [WX-78]!" FIRESTARTER = "Your logic lets you set fires, [WX-78]? Why?”
(coughs, points at wx’s canon pronouns) anyway i love this interaction

BERNIE_INACTIVE = BROKEN = "He's a bit of a fixer-upper." GENERIC = "This little guy's been well loved." BERNIE_ACTIVE = "Is he clockwork? Can I peek inside?"
LIGHTER  = "Neat little gizmo there."
GENERIC = "Hi [Winona]!" ATTACKER = "Too rough, [Winona]! Jeez!" MURDERER = "Murderer! Now you burn!" REVIVER = "[Winona] never gives up on anyone." GHOST = "A heart sure would come in handy!"  FIRESTARTER = "Nice fire, [Winona] !"
WENDY
GENERIC = "Hey there, [Wendy]." ATTACKER = "Woah there, slugger!" MURDERER = "She's not playin'! Murderer!" REVIVER = "You got a sharp mind in that noggin, [Wendy]." GHOST = "I hope you left the other guy lookin' worse." FIRESTARTER = "Anythin' you wanna tell me about that fire, kiddo?"
yall should know this by now but the fastest way to my heart for a DS character is to be cute with the kids
ABIGAIL = "How are you, boo?" ABIGAILHEART = "No one should ever lose a sister."
DDD:
GENERIC = "How do you do, [Winona]?" ATTACKER = "There is anger in [Winona]'s heart." MURDERER = "Abigail and I are going to have fun with you!" REVIVER = "Hi [Winona]. Abigail says "thank-you"." GHOST = "You can't escape that way, [Winona]. I've tried." FIRESTARTER = "Is fire important in your line of work...?"
meanwhile: terrifying as usual

“i’ve seen worse” h e ‘ s  d e a d  w i n o n a
LUCY = "You're alright for an axe."
for an axe...
GENERIC = "[Winona]! Hey there bud!" ATTACKER = "[Winona] is getting too big for her britches." MURDERER = "You're on the chopping block now, [Winona]!" REVIVER = "I knew we were gonna get along." GHOST = "Yer looking a little pale, [Winona]." FIRESTARTER = “[Winona] betrays the forest!"
WICKERBOTTOM
GENERIC = "How's life treatin' ya, grams?" ATTACKER = "Yeesh, that ol' librarian packs a punch!" MURDERER = "Watch out! Grams is on a rampage!" REVIVER = "Don't worry grams, I won't read too much into it. Ha!" GHOST = "You're a tough one, [Wickerbottom], I'll give ya that." FIRESTARTER = "A fire? Here I thought you were responsible, grams."
grams..................

GHOST = "Tsk. Were you wearing your hardhat, dear?" FIRESTARTER = "That was certainly not a regulation fire, dear."
tiny, tiny nitpick: ‘behaviour’ is the british/commonwealth spelling. i have no idea if it was on purpose - elsewhere she uses ‘color’, etc
also there’s no hardhat item, but they sure do keep referencing it around her.
WES
GENERIC = "Don't worry [Wes], I can talk enough for two. Ha!" ATTACKER = "Didn't know ya had it in ya, [Wes]!" MURDERER = "Killer mime! I'll have nightmares tonight!" REVIVER = "Thanks for the assist, [Wes]." GHOST = "Let's getcha back on your feet, [Wes]." FIRESTARTER = "You responsible for that fire there, [Wes]?"

WEBBERSKULL = "I swear the kid'd lose his head if it weren't... wait."
again, really cute EXCEPT FOR ‘KILLER SPIDER’ WHICH KILLS THIS LIZ....
in general she doesn’t like spiders :< i don’t expect her to, they’re trying to eat her face, but it makes me sad anyway

stealing from wikipedia: “In Norse mythology, Brokkr (Old Norse "the one who works with metal fragments; blacksmith",[1] anglicized Brokk) is a dwarf...”
to paraphrase the wiki, apologies if this is inaccurate, but brokkr bet against loki that his family could build more beautiful things than the dwarves loki favored, and he worked the bellows while his brother made several artifacts including Mjollnir, even when loki took the forms of various biting insects to try n distract him. and won the bet

Tumblr media
CHARLIE
ASSUMING THAT winona is indeed charlie’s sister. it seems likely to me. if absolutely nothing else, they know each other well.
ANNOUNCE_CHARLIE = "C-Charlie?", ANNOUNCE_CHARLIE_MISSED = "Ha! I know all your moves!", --Winona gets one free hit from Charlie ANNOUNCE_CHARLIE_ATTACK = "Yeow! Rude!" ROSE = "Not sure how to feel about that..."
marble ‘muse’ statues: TYPE2 = "We thought she was gone..." TYPE1 = "This is too strange."
