reading a book and i absolutely hate the main character. he sucks so bad. genuinely said out loud “i hope you lose everything” after he did something not even that bad compared to his other misdeeds. i want to see him suffer
#peach rambles#HEAR ME OUT. HE JUST FUCKING SUCKS#at the beginning he wasn’t so bad and then he did Terrible Things and then promptly lost his friends which. good for them for getting away#from him. and he was like ‘ive done terrible things to my friends but has anyone considered the fact that i miss them🥺’ LIKE SHUT UP#and then he joined the army and somehow gained a friend who is perhaps the nicest man on earth and he was like#‘ive done terrible things i can soil him in my sins :(’ which. correct#BUT INSTEAD OF AIMING TO BECOME A BETTER MAN FOR HIS NEW FRIEND HE JUST. BECOMES SELFISH AND WORSE#like his friend because he’s the nicest man on earth has a bunch of other friends and the mc is like. hm. i hate all of his friends because#They Are Not Me and im the one most in need of a friend and they’re stealing time with him away from me.#i will proceed to threaten them to stay away from my friend because im the worst and i see nothing wrong with this#AND WHEN HIS FRIEND (justly) GETS MAD AT HIM FOR DOING THIS HE’S JUST LIKE#‘i can’t hewp it :((( you’re my fwiend:(((’ and his friend his rightfully like. stop manipulating me and they don’t talk for a while#which was nice because i like his friend and i want better for him but i had to deal with the mc lamenting the fact that he’s alone even#though it’s his own damn fault for being a piece of shit to everyone he talks to#but due to Them Being In The Army they recoincile and instead of simply being grateful he still has a friend despite being a MASSIVE#shithead he just??? fucking does not change??? I WANT TO SEE HIM LOSE EVERYTHING. I WANT TO SEE HIM SUFFER#because okay the truth is i. hm. okay the truth is i want to enjoy this book and i want him to actually be deserving of being a friend to#the nicest man on earth. i want his friend to live happily like he deserves. i love him. i want the book to be happy for him specifically#and the only way i see that happening is if he leaves the mc for good (which i would be happy about) or if the mc loses everything and goes#through a fantastically gnarly redemption arc where he finally realizes FOR REAL how much of a shithead he’s been and that he doesn’t#deserve to have anything he wants. because right now he knows that’s terrible but he still thinks he deserves his old friends and his new#friend for some reason. even though he’s treated/treats them badly#so yeah. there’s a lot of this books left to go. but that’s where im at right now

brad dourif characters x reader headcanons: marriage
marriage isn't for everyone but if you did tie the knot, there is no way it wouldn't be a wild ride with all of them, one way or another. warning for smut (mild).
charles lee ray
no one could ever accuse this man of being a romantic
(except he really, really is)
legally he doesn't care if you get married or not
but you suggest it first (not a proposal) and you both mutually agree to it
then he sort of proposes (with a ring and flowers) after you've already agreed
if you want a legal marriage it would have to be before any of his murders are he is known to the police
(he's already known for petty crime but getting married would really blow his cover if he's already a wanted murderer)
you go to the nearest courthouse and have a bare minimum ceremony
he wears the nicest suit he already owns
and you go out and get a white dress that you could wear again to a bar
you sign the papers
then you consummate your love in the ladies toilets
whether you go on honeymoon depends on how much money you have at the time
either you go to a tacky wedding motel or you stay in and don't leave the apartment for a week
either way you're having a lot of sex
like seriously
jack dante
it's hard work to get him to actually go through with the wedding
he is actually the one to propose to you
after sex of course
"babe, we should like, get hitched"
he means it, he does, but maybe in a more metaphorical way??
it takes some nagging but you finally get him to go down to the courthouse with you
there is definitely a legal/financial aspect of your marriage
like he may be the wild card employee but he gets paid ludicrously well for everything he contributes to the company (and to try and keep a little bit under control)
if something happened to him (and he has no doubt one day bob might just have him bumped off) he may as well give everything to you, there's no one else for it to go to
neither of you dress up for the ceremony
but you do buy some tacky bridal lingerie to wear underneath
another bare minimum ceremony
it's not your first rodeo doing it in a public restroom
it's almost romantic, a repeat of your first time
the white lacy panties are surprisingly very appreciated
you have to convince him to move back to his old apartment together now that you're married instead of hiding away at CHAANK
he honestly probably forgets you're even married until you bring it up
billy bibbit
he proposes to you
one day while you're at home on a sunday afternoon
lay together on the couch while you read
"h-hey, i h-h-have sssomething to a-ask you"
his stutters gets a tiny bit worse and you worry something is up
"l-l-listen, I-I rrreally love y-you a-a-a-and I-" he has to pause and collect himself
but you already know what he's going to ask and you can't keep from smiling
"w-will you m-m-mmmarry me?"
you throw your book aside and throw your arms around him
"yes! yes, of course I will billy!"
billy is a good christian boy so you have a good christian church wedding (unless you have other religious/secular preferences)
it's a very small wedding
only your favourite family members and closest friends come
same with billy
he feels incredibly guilty for not inviting his mother, but he hasn't seen her since he finally discharged himself from the hospital
you reassured him and remind him that this is the start of your lives together
he looks so dapper in his suit
you help him pick it out
he insists he doesn't want to see your dress until the big day
he cries when he sees you walk up the aisle
loves calling you his wife, and you calling him husband makes him feel wanted
puts your wedding photo in every room and carries it around in his wallet
sheriff brackett
he didn't expect he'd ever find someone he'd want to marry
(what with his last marriage ending the way it did)
when he realises he's truly in love with you, and you with him, he plans his proposal
it's nothing extravagant but it's absolutely perfect
you have a romantic dinner together and he does a whole speech about how much he loves you
and you see where it's going but you let him go on for a minute until you're like "do you want to ask me something?"
he flusters about it but is very cute and finally pops the question
"i - sweetie, i'd be honoured to make you my wife, will you marry me?"
you have a church wedding (unless you have other religious/secular preferences)
close family and friends only
cries when you walk down the aisle
annie gets very invested in helping with the planning and is probably more bothered about it than either of you are
you have a (very) classy dress
loves that he can call you his wife now !! the sheriff's wife !!
reception at your house, classic buffet
lowkey you both cannot wait untl everyone just leaves
*wink wink*
you do have a first dance in private though after everyone leaves
you're both soft and giggling and the song is a cheesy love song but it's perfect
your wedding night is the height of romance
your bridal lingerie really does it for him
what better start for your marriage than him making you cum so many times that you lose count?
doc cochran
you and doc didn't think you'd get married at all
neither of you felt the need to make anything official
you both consider yourself as his common law wife anyway
but something happens (either you get pregnant or some unrest with the camp politics makes the future seem uncertain) you decide you may as well tie the knot officially
there's no real proposal, he just sort of asks
you go to the Grand where E.B (being mayor) unfortunately has to officiate
you don't intend to invite anyone, saying it is no one elses business
but people catch wind (i.e. al, trixie and jane, merrick, maybe sol and seth) and basically invite themselves
you wear your best dress
and doc doesn't half scrub up well
Al invites you both back for a drink at the gem which you accept
("only one though, al" "sure, sure, you gotta get back home - the marriage bed is waiting - I understand")
the marriage bed is waiting though and you get kind of emotional when you go home together for the first time as husband and wife
funnily enough no one shows up at doc's that night for treatment and you have the whole night to yourselves
grima wormtongue
it takes you both a long time before you admit your feelings for each other and commit to having a relationship rather than a friends with benefits situation
marriages move fairly quickly in middle earth
no sooner are you engaged are you at the alter
wedding is moderately fancy because grima is doing pretty well being the king's adviser
few people actually show up who don't have to be there though because neither of you exactly have a lot of friends
grima almost clams up when it comes the ceremony because he doesnt want to say all this personal stuff about how much he loves you in front of other people
but you both get through it and finally, finally you are properly married
he's very emotional when you consummate your marriage but he tries to hide it
(but you know him too well)
tommy ludlow
he proposes one morning after sex
it's only just getting light and you both have to get up for work soon
you're still sweaty and his face is pressed into your neck
and in hushed tones you whisper back and forth
"will you marry me?"
it takes you a second to process what he said, "you wanna get married?"
"if you'll have me"
you kiss him and whisper "yes"
it's a church wedding for you and tommy (unless you have other religious/secular preferences)
he has a pretty big extended family and he has to invite them all
your dress and his suit are second hand
(because you're saving for better things)
laura takes a lot of photos for you
including the classic confetti toss one as you leave the church
takes you ages to comb all the confetti out of tommy's hair afterwards
cheesy first dance at the wedding reception
you can tell tommy is nervous so you joke around and make sure he doesn't take it too seriously
when you get home? goddamn you ride him like there's no tomorrow
(still in your wedding dress)
leo nova
it's go big or go home with him
80s fashion at its best
your dress is worth more than the rent on your old apartment
he doesn't see it before the wedding
you're surprised at how many traditions he sticks too despite him having the emotional range of a teaspoon
not many people get an invite to the ceremony but it's a wild after party
like a bunch of coked out 80s gangsters ?? amazing
the honeymoon is next level
you go to some tropical holiday resort (caribbean, thailand or spain) and it is all sun, sex and sangria for two whole weeks
tucker cleveland
didn't think he'd want to get married again
but in reality he just didn't like his first wife all that much
takes you out to dinner and proposes
when you say yes he is honestly relieved
but because he doesn't want to get emotional he calls over the waiter to get your free dessert
courthouse wedding
you do insist he wears a suit though and you buy a white dress
does the whole "just married" thing on the back of his truck
actually takes you on a honeymoon (sort of)
you go out of state and stay in a motel for a week
(vigorous sex ensues)
now you're married good and proper you can be his good little wifey

----------------------------------------------------------------
It was a hot summer's day when you came home early to surprise your boyfriend, who is finally off from his duties as an actor and having a little time off for a holiday. You and Sebbie, your boyfriend of a year, now decided to stay in New York, as he missed being in his favourite place on earth.
You were early, holding lots of bags that were blocking your sight to the door. All worth it, because you will be able to cook him a homemade meal and show him that new lingerie you have got. If he forgot, you will remind him where home is.
You put everything down and took off your shoes; you started unbuttoning your blouse and taking off your pants. You were eager to take a shower and start cook for him.
You opened the bathroom door, and he was standing there fixing his hair in front of the mirror, yet he turned to face you. Before he spills a word.
You muttered, "Hey, I did not know you will be early."
You narrowed the gap between the two of you and taking his lips to meet yours in an intense kiss.
You missed him, wrapping your arms around his neck and pulling him closer to you, making the kiss sensual and he had no problem putting his hands on the curves of your waist pulling you closer to him.
When you broke the kiss, you took a moment to look into his eyes “Bebelus, there is something different about you."
He was blushing and puzzled "Yes!" He sighed, "you have mistaken me for Seabase, did not you."
You jumped a step forward in panic "James? Oh, my God! I am so sorry."
You were trying to cover your body and confusion took over you.
"But you kissed me back." You were angry that almost slapped him, but he dodged your hand.
"Easy doll, I am sorry?" He came off guilty.
"I heard things about you. I did not know you would be your e." You spoke while your eyes gazed upon the floor.
"My plane arrived this morning. I am so sorry that Seabass did not tell you." He kept fixing his hair, which is identical to Sebastian.
"We got on the wrong foot your e, but can you please give me a moment?" You pointed at your body as you were wearing nothing but your undergarments.
"Oh! I will be outside." He shut the door behind him as he left.
You turned on the water and let it run, washing away your impressment.
James is Sebastian's identical twin. James Buchanan Barns and Sebastian Stan Barnes. Stan was Sebastian's middle name, something related to his mother's Romanian roots.
James has a military classified job, while his brother made a career for himself in acting.
Not even their mother could tell them apart, except that Sebastian is a dork and James, as they call him Bucky, is an easy-going ladies-man.
When you finished showing and dressing up. The sound from the kitchen seemed as if your boyfriend was having a loud conversation with himself.
They even sound identical, you thought to yourself, gathered your strength and stepped into the kitchen.
"Hey, guys," you waved for both of them.
"Oh, baby! Bucky told me about the incident" the twin with jogging clothes came and wrapped his arms around you.
You almost stopped him "Sebbie, baby, is that you?"
Yes, Y/N." He kissed your forehead and then your lips.
"I am so sorry, that I forgot to mention that Bucky was coming." He soothed you with another sweet kiss.
"We were not introduced properly," Bucky said playfully
"This is Y/A, my girlfriend and lady of the house." He said, then pointed at Bucky, "this is the famous, James Buchanan, Bucky, my mysterious brother."
"Seabase told poems of you. I am sorry that we have that incident," he implied the earlier kiss.
"No, worries" you am smiled and extend a hand "Welcome to our home, Bucky" he took your hand and smiled calmly.
At the dinner table, Sebastian and Bucky were laughing and catching up. You were calm and just appreciating the home-cooked dinner by Bucky.
"You are talented at cooking." You were enjoying the cuisine.
"I, the chief, and Seabase were the tidy one." He looked at his brother, "we are a team of cooking and cleaning."
Except that, I don't cook," Sebastian said joked
“Bucky, you know it is today?” Sebastien was busy eating.
Bucky was stunned “a family and friends gathering!” “You are going to see the gang.” Sebastien was rather excited about this more than anything you have seen before.
Georgeta Orlovschi, or as her official name now, Georgetta Stan was a lovely woman, a Romanian immigrant who fell in love with an American to a marriage that brought the best thing in her to the world, the twins; James and Sebastian.
As a violinist and part of the New York Opera House, she met their father, Mr William Barnes, a well-known handsome conductor who made her world perfect.
The world was perfect until she had to change diapers and stay up with William by her side.
William was of a well-known wealthy family, but Mrs Barnes was an Eastern European woman. She wanted to have deities by herself and not to have servants to do all the work.
Her friend Mary Winchester, the wife of William's closest friend, John — was the nicest woman you can meet, a Taxes woman. Mary was like Mrs Barnes. She did not like servants to do the job; she took upon duties of her firstborn, Dean, and later she had Sam, a few years before the Twins.
The boys grow up together.
Dean took the eldest brother's duties to the bone. Even when the new kid, Steve Rogers, became best friends with Bucky; he took him under his wing.
The gang, no one could touch his brother or their friends.
Soon after they entered Middle School and Dean was a senior, Steve got into a fight. Dean came close to the boys to find Bucky just leaving his book aside and taking the ground by his friend.
Sebastian was the one in front of both. No one hurt Steve.
Sam hurried to Dean for safety. Dean arrived and tried to calm everyone down "Steve said he was sorry." He smirked at the boy, who was angry and demanded to bully Steve.
While Sebastian and Sam were trying to hold Steve back, "I can do this all day."
Bucky did not give anyone else a chance to speak as he bunched the bully right in the nose, which got everyone in trouble, which Dean wanted to take the responsibility for. Detention and forever to be recorded in his file.
Dean Winchester did not care for his record, just the young boys to be well.
But finally, the boys came clean to their father; Bucky was homeschooled for the rest of the year and Sebastian refused to go back to school until his brother joined him back.
They were all a mischievous gang with Dean Winchester as the head.
Days passed, and each got into their ways; Dean with Harvard school as his father pulled a connection to forget the file problem. Dean was already qualified enough.
Sam went to Stanford, Bucky and Steve picked a military life, and Sebastian was all about acting.
It was his first time alone overseas, the Shakespeare's Globe yet had another surprise for him, a friend; Anthony Mackie, an American talent who became Sebastian's best friend.
The gang was getting bigger and louder.
Mrs Barnes had the entire gang and their families for a gathering. James, Bucky, as he liked to be called, is finally back after an entire year in God-knows-what military work.
After dinner, the gang was laughing and drinking.
Dean smirked at Sebastian "You got a good girl over here."
"A great kisser too." Bucky teased.
"What do you have in mind, Dean?" Sam teased Dean because he knows what he will spill next.
"You gotta do the twin thing." Dean raised his bottle of beer.
Steve's eyes widened "what twin thing, exactly"
"My man, Dean wants Seabase to go wild." Anthony laughed at the idea.
Dean explained, "a sandwich with her in the middle and the outer layers are twins."
Sam tried to elaborate "if the middle was a girl unless other preferences and so."
Steve was blushing at the idea while Bucky and Sebastian were looking at each other.
"Don't scrunch your nose" Sebastian looked at Bucky.
Bucky tilted his head and give him the puppy eyes "adventures, please."
Then Dean joined him for bagging "please."
"Alright, Alright." Sebastian took a sip of his beer "only with consent.
At that moment Anthony gives Dean ten "You won."
Steve was just irritated at the idea and he kept eyeing his bottle "I can't believe you, guys"
"Dean always wins," Sam shrugged.
You were heading closer to the boys, who were laughing.
"Are not we going home?" You asked Sebastian.
"Yes, babe."
He excused the gang and Bucky followed with the boys waving and clapping.
"They seem happy and excited. Are not they." You waved at them while speaking to Sebastian, but the reply came from Bucky "they should be. And hopefully, will be,"
Back in the car, Sebastian hesitated, but he told you why they were laughing.
“Dean wants you to try what?” You were completely shocked.
“The twin-thing.” Bucky sounded excited.
Sebastian took your hand in his, “baby, it’s a silly boys’ bet.”
You looked at him, “are you going to let Dean win?” and you smirked.
Bucky explained the rules. It has to be a sex sandwich with both of them, but no sex while they are in their mum's house.
“God only knows how she might react to this.” Sebastiana sighed.
Bucky laughed and explained, “an eastern European woman, she might get them a priest to perform an exorcism on us.”
“Or sanctify the house.” Sebastien completed his twin’s explanation.
They agreed Bucky will stay at Sebastian’s house for the night until they plan the twins’ thing.
The next morning, after you all had eaten breakfast together, you were cleaning the table. You will keep bumping into Bucky.
His torso to your back, kissing the exposed parts of your skin. You titled your head on your back to give him room.
His hands will travel under your clothes. His girl was wearing nothing but your skill PJ of pair of shorts and a top.
Dean's words have got straight to Bucky’s head, that he has been imagining having the twin-thing with his brother’s girlfriend.
Bucky reached the kitchen, and he almost dropped the plates.
His brother was kissing Y/N, who closed his eyes completely as Sebastian was squeezing your butt with a hand and they together are caressing your nipple about the silk.
You moaned; Bucky felt himself getting hard.
Yet, you felt Sebastian's hard length against your butt. You turned to kiss him with parted lips, looking to consume him.
Their tongue met and the sounds of their kissing made Bucky, who was at the edge and impulsively tried to hide his aroused length.
Sebastian opened his eyes as he parted from the kiss. Y/A twirled to meet Bucky's eyes and peeking at his lower body.
"Poor Bucky." You stepped closer to him, you kissed him first, yet he opened his eyes, waiting for Sebastian's approval, who gave him a wave to go ahead.
You kissed Bucky and slides your hand to stock his length above the sweat pants he was wearing.
Bucky moaned against your lips and wrapped his arms around you for a moment to deepen the kiss.
At that same time, Sebastian paced to lay kisses on your shoulder and squeeze your butt.
You started moaning, parted from Bucky, to meet Sebastian at a kiss
"Better take it to the bedroom." You said in between your moaning and breath.
You walked with the twin brothers to the bedroom, yet could not take off their hands off your body.
In the bedroom, Sebastian pulled down your shorts, and Bucky took off your top.
"Bucky, you are beautiful, Y/A," he said as he keeps kissing the soft spot under your ears and lowers down your breast.
"You better underdress to boys," you ordered and both of them took off their clothes at once.
Before starting anything, Bucky looked at Sebastien, who understood his brother immediately.
“Second drawer in the nightstand near his bed.” Sebastian pointed to Bucky, who was full of condoms, lubricant, and some toys.
You twirled around Bucky for a moment "nothing I have not seen before" you
Ran your fingers on his skin till touching his length and teasing his slit that was dripping pre-cum.
Yet, before Bucky put the condom on his length, you got down and tasted him, “tasty,” you whipped your lips and helped him to wear the condom
Then moved to Sebastian and kissed him "oh, that chest is getting rough again." You kissed his lips and lower to his jaw and neck.
Then you winked at Sebastian playfully to drop on four to take his full length between your lips.
You sucked him slowly. Bucky was watching your butt against him and your inviting lady delicate area was pumping with a need that he could not keep himself from entering you all at once.
You clenched him inside you, milking him and you were bobbing your head, milking Sebastian with your mouth as squeezing his balls.
Sebastian gripped your hair and Bucky put his hands on your hips, entering you, as you were getting tighter and closer.
"I am closed," Sebastian muttered breathlessly as he came inside your mouth. You swallowed him whole.
On the other hand, Bucky was close, Sebastian took a step back to let you rest on four, you were moaning and Bucky banging himself harder against you. The voice of their skin clashing and moaning were loud that the rest Sebastian was getting harder again.
Bucky wanted you closer to him, he pulled you up and rested your head on his chest and squeezed your breasts "cum for me now doll," he ordered as biting the side of your neck and squeezing your breasts and you were so tight that Sebastian came close and stocked your clitoris to give you more pleasure. You were standing between the skin of the two brothers.
With almost shut eyes, looking at Sebastian who was stocking your clitoris, then he kissed you down till his tongue reached your soft part. After two strokes with his tongue on your clitoris. You were so tight around Bucky that he could not see in front of him as he cum hard at the same time you felt the shaking electric power of your orgasm.
You were about to collapse that Sebastian carried you to the bed. You laid together between the two brothers.
"That was wow," Bucky muttered breathlessly.
Sebastian asserted playfully, "round two"
"Maybe later tonight?" You rolled and kissed Sebastian.
The three of you were laughing and Bucky closed his eyes to rest.
You put a leg on Sebastian's tights, getting closer to his body, feeling Bucky's chest hugging you from behind.
The head of their bodies calmed that the three of you slept in harmony.

When the time comes to truly leave, they only pick the nicest day with beautiful weather, wearing their most frequently worn clothes, open the door and leave, never coming back. To Jiang Wenxu (蒋文旭), He Zhishu (贺知书) is [his] air and water. When he can spend willfully, he doesn't think it's a pity. But if one day he loses it, it'll be too late to regret it. "Where you are, is a thought I can't stop thinking about til the end of earth" ------------------------------------------ Chapter 1 When he came out of the hospital, it was snowing, the cold snowflakes, blown by the cold wind, fell on He Zhishu's face. It was then he slowly realized that it seemed to be winter again. Beijing's winter was so cold. He Zhishu dazedly fixed his scarf. In his hands were a few wrinkled test results scrunched up by him. His heart was even colder. He stood at the bus stop, not knowing when the bus would arrive. His fingers were frozen and white. He took out his phone and dialed a number he knew well. After being hung up automatically from no one answering, he called again. Over and over. In the end, no one answered. He Zhishu rolled up the health checklists into a ball and threw it into a garbage bin. A bus finally came after half an hour. The car had surprisingly little amount of people. He Zhishu rested his forehead on the glass window, and dialed the phone again. This time, someone picked up. "Today is snowing, it's winter." 14 years. He Zhishu's voice was gentle but tears couldn't help but trickle down his face. Jiang Wenxu made a silencing gesture to the lover next to him. He felt that He Zhishu's words always sounded like a riddle, which he hated. "What's up? I'm working overtime." "Are you coming back to have dinner? You haven't come home for a long time already," He Zhishu rubbed the silver ring on the ring finger of his right hand over and over again, watching it as tears fall on the back of his hand. Jiang Wenxu felt that He Zhishu was very strange today. It was his intuition. After all, they've been together for 14 years already. "What's wrong?" He Zhishu didn't reply, only patiently asked again, "Are you coming back tonight? One should eat dumplings on a snowy day I will make one for you." "I really can't come back," Jiang Wenxu started to get annoyed. He Zhishu's bland tone and attitude made him lose his appetite. "Don't make any, I'll let XiaoSong order you one. I'll hang up, busy." He Zhishu heard the busy tone on the phone, his heart ached tremendously, he put the phone back into his pocket slowly as if he was in slow motion. How can there be a company where the boss is so busy that he doesn't even have time to go home for dinner? Jiang Wenxu has someone else, how could he not know? 4 years ago, Jiang Wenxu's heart changed already, how could the bright and sensitive He Zhishu not notice. It's just that He Zhishu turned a blind eye to it the whole time. It's not that he didn't mind, not that he didn't dare to speak out, he's only afraid that once he clarified, there's nothing left for him. Those were not so-called young impulsive hormonal love, those were his 10 years of dedication and habits. How can he not be tolerant of it? He Zhishu lied to himself, that he couldn't smell a female's perfume on Jiang Wenxu's body, that he couldn't see the red lipstick stain on Jiang Wenxu's collar of his suit, not recognizing that the man he loves gave a lame excuse to not come home. They used to love each other so much, why is it now like this? They clearly overcame even the first few years of hardship. Upon arriving at the station, He Zhishu got off, still the man with that gentle face with no arrogance. Only that his eyes were a little red and his face turned white. He didn't buy groceries, by now He Zhishu didn't have any appetite. He already tried so hard to beg Jiang Wenxu to come home... because He Zhishu really didn't know if he could still eat dumplings with Jiang Wenxu on the first snowy night next year. Assistant Song came quickly, the man in suit seemed to come out from the company, handed him a box of food and respectfully addressed him "Mr. He". He Zhishu waved his hands apologetically. "From now on, just handle the workload in the company, there's no need to get pressured by Jiang Xenwu to do his errands." Assistant Song laughed and said, "This is what assistants do, hard work that doesn't match with the pay." He chatted with He Zhishu a while before leaving. After Assistant Song left, He Zhishu sat on a round table and left the box of dumplings untouched. 13 years ago , there were 2 people sitting at the table. 10 years ago, this table was filled with flour and fillings. Jiang Wenxu wrapped with him, stuffing a lot of candy coins with a child-like tantrum. He always complained that everything blessed was taken by He Zhishu, and that if he wrapped less he couldn't grab it back. He Zhishu, as if used to it, grabbed a bunch of tissues to wipe his frequent nosebleeds. He Zhishu finally understood why he was sick like this. Wasn't his blessing already given to Jiang Wenxu since long ago? Every dumpling that came with a blessing, he already silently scooped up and gave to Jiang Wenxu. That's why he had no blessings left. In that box of dumplings, he had only eaten 4. 四季平安*, 4 is enough. He Zhishu thought absentmindedly, he had a slight fever, his depressed feelings had made him tired. Sleep will make things better, a heartache will be grinded away in a long sleep, smashed into a turbulent loneliness. *"Peace in all 4 seasons" literally. ------------------------------------------------------- < TN/ > Keiko : and that's chapter 1 XD

guard elizabeth and councilman bill forbes’ marriage was far from perfect. maybe at some point, the two were really in love with one another. but as years passed and they grey old, they also grew apart. the only thing that kept them together ( other than the fact neither of them were willing to deal with the long process of getting a divorce ) was their daughter, caroline. with sparkling blue eyes, long blonde hair and a captivating smile, she had her parents wrapped around her little finger since she was a baby. sure, she was a handful. little girl from alpha station, who’s parents worked important jobs and spoke to important people, caroline wasn’t exactly the nicest girl on the ark. but she loved with all of her heart and oh how did it hurt when her own parents broke her heart and trust and—well, her.
her life started spiraling out of control when her father began drinking. at first, it was barely noticeable. just an extra tint of pink on his cheeks or a spark on his eyes. but it was quickly replaced by the stench of alcohol that seemed to stick to him like a second skin. his behavior changed, too. the once focused and well-opinionated member of the council turned into a man who arrived late at meetings, tripping over his own feet and nursing a flask without a hint of shame. about a week after this happened for the third time, bill got home and announced he was removed from the council. the very next day, his wife took his spot.
from then on, it got worse. caroline saw too much of her drunk of a father and too little of her workaholic mother. she threw herself into her studies and spent a lot of time with her friends because being home was simply not an option. by being absent, she didn’t notice her father had developed a new addiction. so when, during a random room sweep, a guard pulled out a bottle of painkillers from under her pillow, caroline couldn’t fathom how it’d ended up there. only that she wasn’t the one who stole and hid it. she kicked and cried as the guards dragged her out of the quarters, screamed that she was innocent and didn’t know how the pills had ended up there, but it was useless. she was thrown into a cell and forced to wait six months for her eighteenth birthday, when she’d put on trail to see if her crime could be pardoned. she knew it wouldn’t. they were floating people for crimes smaller than stealing medication. she’d die in six months because she was guilty. guilty of a crime she didn’t commit.
what caroline didn’t know was that during the time she spent on her tiny cell, her father - the one who hid the bottle under her pillow - tried to change chancellor jaha’s mind. he hoped he’d be able to sway the man and get him to pardon his daughter on her trail. it worked—sort of. instead of being floated, caroline was sent to the ground with other a hundred young prisoners just two days after bill’s last conversation with jaha.
under the cut, you’ll find more information about caroline, as well as a detailed description of what she’s up to season by season. if you’re someone who’s currently watching or intends to watch the 100 at some point, i suggest that you stop reading here as there are spoilers everywhere lol. but if you wanna risk it, be my guest! <3

season one
earth is weird. there are mosquitos and green things everywhere, the sun is too hot but the water on the river near camp is too cold. and not to mention the fact they’re all sleeping on the ground and no one seemed to think about packing some shampoo! so yeah, earth is weird but caroline is sure she can get used to it. but then jasper gets speared and they find out not only they’re not alone, but whoever is out there wants them all dead. she freaks out and wishes there was a way they could all get back to the ark. but there isn’t.
so she has no choice but to learn how to defend herself, be it with a makeshift knife or actual guns. she fights with her fellow delinquents, tries to protect them and herself and the camp but it’s not enough. so when time comes for them to get into the dropship, she obliges without a second thought. they blast off, turn a bunch of grounders into barbecue and she thinks ‘it’s finally over’. but it’s not. the moment they all step outside, smoke bombs are being thrown into their camp. everything is suddenly a pinkish-red and the last thought caroline has before passing out is that she misses the obnoxious amount of green.
additional note: her father volunteers for the culling. it’s his way to make up for what he did to his own daughter.
season two
mount weather is great. it might be because she missed sleeping on an actual bed, eating three solid meals a day and being able to shower properly. caroline likes mount weather but she doesn’t like mount weather’s people - well, some of them are fine. maya is nice and so is the old lady who gave her the last strawberry lemon shortcake during lunch one day. - they look at her funny when she walks past them on the halls and their smiles always seem so fake. still, caroline tries to fit in and get used to living there.
but then clarke escapes and she’s hurt but can’t bring herself to blame her. so she tries to move on with her life because maybe they can be happy there. harper goes missing four days later and caroline just knows there’s something the wallaces are keeping from them. something important. hell breaks loose a few days later and, before she knows it, she’s chained to a moldy wall and watching as mount weather doctors are drilling her friends to get to their bone marrow. the drilling machine never comes anywhere near her body, but the images of raven strapped down and screaming will forever be seared into her brain. some miracle - aka clarke, bellamy and monty - happens and the people in mount weather are dead and they are free to go home.
when they finally make to arkadia, caroline reunites with her mother - apparently kane had requested her to stay behind and keep an eye on things - and is engulfed in a bone-crushing hug. they cry and smile and say they’ve missed each other many, many times. it’s all good until caroline asks about her father and liz has to tell him that not only he was the one who hid the painkillers under her pillow, but that he volunteered to the culling. caroline silently cries in her mother’s arms while mumbling ‘i forgive you, daddy’ over and over again.
season three
being treated like a child sucked. even after everything they went through, the adults don’t seem to trust any of the remaining members of the hundred. they boss them around and scoff whenever they try to voice their opinions. caroline manages to tune them out most of the time and focus on learning a bit about medicine and reconnecting with her mother. their relationship is way better than it was when they were in space, however, they still butt heads every now and then, but that’s completely normal when you have caroline forbes for a daughter.
when jaha starts preaching about the city of light, caroline isn’t among the people who buy into it. to her, it screams bullshit and there’s no way in hell she’s accepting the weird chip he seems to never run out of. then people start acting weird and she grows wary; but it’s only when raven stops acting lke raven that she realizes the seriousness of the situation. so she tries her best to help and goes to polis when it’s needed, shooting brainwashed grounders as they barge into the room while clarke is in the city of light. when it’s all over and the people are no longer mumbling about A.L.I.E and the city, caroline take a much needed deep breath to collect herself and starts looking for her mother.
additional notes: she does NOT take the chip. her mother, however, does when jaha threatens to hurt her daughter. caroline is under massive stress during all of this; fretting over her mom’s safety while trying to avoid being chipped.
season four
‘radiation, seriously?!’ is the first thing that comes out of caroline’s mouth when she finds out what A.L.I.E told clarke. but then again, should she even be surprised? ever since they came down, they barely had time to breathe before another bad thing happened. when she hears through the grapevine that jaha might’ve found a bunker that will be able to save them all, she begs clarke to let her go with them. she mumbles something about ‘four people cover more ground then three’ until clarke gives up and lets her join. her hopes are crushed when they make it into the bunker and find thousands of toasted skeletons, but, of course, she tries to hide it. she puts on her best smile and goes back to the camp where she knows her friends and mom will be waiting. when they finally find the right bunker, caroline’s hopes are renewed and she just knows they’ll make through yet another terrible thing tossed their way.
she asks - or rather, demands - clarke and bellamy to let her come with them to rescue raven. caroline had grown to love and admire the mechanic and there was no way she’d leave her behind. john and emori show up not long after and, together and clad in hazmat suits, the five of them leave to find their friend. along the way, monty, harper and echo join them. when clarke announces they’re going to the ark, caroline is shocked. she didn’t think she’d ever go back there, but if that was her only shot at surviving then so be it. she says goodbye to her mom and tries to sound confident and happy even though she’s secretly afraid. she mumbles a heartfelt, ‘ i love you, mom. may we meet again ’ to liz before passing the radio to bellamy so he can say goodbye to octavia;
caroline stays in becca’s lab to help raven, harper, emori and echo set everything up for their launch. she gets into the ship with her heart racing and palms sweating and as it launches, without clarke inside, caroline is in deep silence just like everyone else. expecting something bad to happen with the hundred year-old rocket or for the death wave to get them. when nothing happens and they’re somewhat safe in space, tears start streaming down caroline’s face as it dawns on her: clarke is dead.
additional notes: back in the bunker, liz joins david miller and writes her daughter’s name in the lottery to make sure she would have two chances of getting her name drawn. however, when unconscious arkadians start to be removed from the bunker by grounders and caroline still hasn’t returned, kane decides to give her spot to liz.
season five
algae sucks. of course, caroline never tells monty that. she doesn’t have the heart to, not when the two have grown close over the six years they spent on the ring. she grows close to the others too, but especially to echo. the two train together almost every day and the brunette teaches her how to use a bow and arrow - a really shitty one they put together with random scrapes they found laying around -.
it takes a while but they manage to get to the ground and she’s utterly shocked to find out not only that clarke has been alive the whole time but that she also had a kid. the bunker is open, their people come out and caroline looks and looks, but her mother is nowhere to be seen. she asks multiple people but it’s kane who delivers the news: her mother is dead. it tears her apart and she cries on the former chancellor’s arms for a few minutes before wiping her tears and leaving to find bellamy.
when bellamy decides to put the flame on madi, caroline is extremely against it. no matter what the girl has witnessed or how strong she seems to be, she’s still just a child. she gives him the cold shoulder for a few hours until she has no choice but to talk to him. caroline marches with everyone else because she knows that’s her only shot at surviving and she wants to keep on living to make her mother proud. when hell breaks loose, caroline manages to escape with some of the wonkru members and return to the dead zone. she tries helping niylah tend to the wounded, but she’s no doctor and fears that she might kill them faster than a gunshot. still, she keeps on trying because they’ve all come so far to die now.
caroline almost doesn’t make it into the eligius ship. she’s trying to support someone who’s injured pretty badly, which means running isn’t really an option. however, when she sees everyone rushing inside the ginormous ship, hope blossoms within her for the millionth time and that’s what fuels her to all but carry the woman she’s helping and lead both of them to safety.
she attends the meeting where they decide the fate of human race. like everyone else, caroline doesn’t like monty’s plan of using algae. she’s has enough of that thing to last a lifetime. so when raven and shaw suggest cryosleep, she’s quick to agree. of course she knows that, ultimately, it’s up to madi. thankfully, the new heda also agrees and everyone starts getting ready to go to sleep.
before going into her chamber, caroline jokes with bellamy that, when she wakes up, she will be ‘ the hottest 34 year-old on the ship ’. she then proceeds to give him a quick hug before hopping on what’s going to be her bed for the next ten years. or so she thinks.
additional notes: liz dies during the dark year. caroline doesn’t know what happened but she knows that octavia is responsible for her mom’s death so to say their relationship is strained would be one hell of an understatement.
season six
she knows something’s not right immediately after waking up. for one, only a handful of them are awake and then there’s the fact bellamy looks like someone kicked him in the groin. she finds out about earth and monty and harper only fifteen minutes after she gets out of her cryo chamber. she hugs emori while listening to monty’s video logs and by the time he mentions harper’s death, she’s silently crying on her friend’s shoulder. afterwards, they talk. about who should be on the exploratory team, when they should leave and how many guns they should bring with them. caroline volunteers to stay on the ship with raven, but the brunette waves her off and tells her to ‘go have some fun for her and try not to get killed’. so she gets ready and heads to the ground with the rest of the team.
things start going downhill within hours of them being on the new planet and seriously, that has to be a new record !  by the time clarke figures out about the toxin being related to the eclipse, caroline is already starting to feel the effects of it. she’s chained in the same room as jackson and miller, losing it way before they do. she’s the only one awake after bellamy and clarke use the darts on their friends and leave to deal with echo and emori. time seems to drag by, but eventually, the effects wear off and caroline comes to her senses. shortly after, the door opens and in comes abby.
caroline tries to adjust to life in sanctum - yeah, apparently that’s the name of the moon they’re going to live in -, but it’s hard. maybe it’s because of everything she’s gone through on earth, but she doesn’t fully trust russell and is constantly waiting for the other shoe to drop. eventually, it does. immortality and bodysnatchers are a thing in sanctum and caroline has half a mind to scream ‘ i told you so ! ’ to all of her friends that thought she was being paranoid.
additional note: this will be updated once the season is over. i just wanted to post an overview of what caroline is doing in sanctum lol.

summary the world’s bigger now. humanity has gone beyond earth and inhabited many other planets. earth has basically become this uninhabitable, over-studied wasteland, yet some people still have a dangerous curiosity for their home planet, including you and min yoongi.

You’re not supposed to care so much about anything, about any of this, yet you still find yourself in a corner away from your dancing friends wallowing in a shallow tide of thought. There are just a lot of things going through your mind right now, like how you forgot to grab a change of clothes for tonight, about how you just ate too much and are probably going to have to take a dump in the bathroom, about how the rest of your life is quickly approaching, about how the end of a chapter in your life is coming to a close. You all have just graduated high school. High school. You can’t believe they still call it that after Earth’s first major power shift, which is when the United States was joined by a few other countries that joined the rank of  “superpower—
Thoughts concerning your Earth History class shuffle around in your brain for a while. Eventually Min Yoongi slips into your mind. Well, actually he slips into the high school graduation party (this is the version without any parentals, all the official grad parties occurred days ago), a few hours late (approximately two hours after the 7 pm start of the party), but everyone knows parties at spoiled-rich-boy-party-host-prodigy-with-never-present-parents (literally the only reason people are friends with him) Jackson Wang’s house never really end until 24 hours after the start, so a few hours doesn’t make a huge difference.
Sitting at the end of the main hallway above the ground floor of the Wang’s many floored home offers many advantages. There’s a large window where you can see everything going on in the front yard, anyone who tries to enter the home cannot go in without your eyes scanning them. The main advantage is that you get to witness the not-surprisingly late entry of Min Yoongi, and for another, it allows you to keep an eye on your friends while avoiding any damaging activities. Your friends aren’t really doing anything damaging actually, no one has touched the alcohol or drugs subtly scattered about the house yet. They’re just talking about things you don’t want to think about right now—some other planet politics and music—and you have too much weighing on your mind to contribute or ask probing questions to entertain them.
Min Yoongi pops back outside again and makes a sprint past the portable space ships and other modes of transportation littering the Wang yard and the street across from the lawn. There actually aren’t that many houses in this neighborhood, so nothing blocks your view as you watch Min Yoongi sprint another block down to a nearby park and a wired fence where a space ship is parked. He pulls a handle and brings out his keys pulling just to see that it has already been locked. When he sprints back to the Wang’s front yard he looks upset, like he went all the way out there to make sure the door was locked when it already was. You didn’t see the purpose of locking the ship because the neighborhood is the among the nicest in this planet, maybe even this universe. Definitely in this country, but no one measures things by country anymore because space is just too big now to allow separate masses of land or archaic legal borders to make much of a difference. Even cultures do not create much tension, at least different cultures within one planet. Interplanetary relationships can cause the worst kind of trouble.
He disappears inside the home, and for a while you watch the stairs secretly hoping he would join you at this little look out spot. But why would he though? You two never talk. The only times he “would join you” were at podiums always receiving awards together. You are—or now were because you two just graduated—among the top 5% of students at your school. High achievers, top performers. You’re both in that group of kids who always win at everything. It feels good to be at the top, but still lonely. Your friends are a diverse bunch, mostly in grades. Kim Namjoon, the other 5%-er in your friend group is probably your most distant friend, always studying instead of hanging out, and you’re mostly just friends because your other friends are friends with both of you.
Mutual friends bring people together, and that’s what Yoongi is doing here. You feel an urge to go downstairs and find him, like this is your chance to finally get to know this person you’ve always wanted to get to know.
“Hey! Y/n, wanna play a game?” Kim Yerim yells at you from inside the bedroom where your friends have been spending their time at the party. “Stop being emo, and join the group! That or I’ll make you cry your eyes out then send you home after parading you around the living room!”
You sigh, still lost in thought about possibilities and anxieties for the future, not quite ready to let go of high school even though it’s already let go of you. Yeri gets out of the bedroom, and drags you in. A deck of Cards Against Humanity sits in the middle of a circle formed by your closest friends, and a few acquaintances. A few rounds pass, the game goes quickly due to some people’s lucky hands (you’re probably only saying that just because you suck at this game). Suddenly Yeri calls for a bathroom break, and she’s taking too long, so you leave to go find her. The second floor is quiet except for all the commotion coming from your room, and the bathroom is empty, so you go down the stairs to find your petite friend. When you find her, she’s chatting up a familiar figure: Min Yoongi.
“Oh, hey, Y/n! I was getting a drink, then ran into Yoongi, my friend.” She pats him on the chest, leaning oddly close to someone you’d describe as her acquaintance—they’re not that close, really they should not be talking to each other considering the fact that Yoongi is in Jeon Jungkook’s inner circle. It seems like Yeri’s already had a few drinks during her extended bathroom break. Yeri’s tipsy, and you know it. In her right mind, she would never even approach anyone with at least five degrees of separation from Jungkook. In some ways Jungkook and Yeri’s messy relationship could be blamed for why you and Yoongi are so distant.
You’ve always admired Yoongi for his brains. There were a few classes you shared, but your classes were always too big for you two even participate in group discussions with each other. Every so often, you two met at the podium receiving awards for academic feats. This is how you first took notice of him. There wasn’t a specific award giving function in which you remember becoming truly aware of who Min Yoongi is. You just became conscious of his presence. Sometimes you would even have the honor of standing next to him, parts of you brushing against his arms.
Man, Min Yoongi is such a fine guy.
You always wished you had gotten to know him better during high school. Your mind was just too occupied on other guys (a failed homecoming date, and a decent prom friend date) and school to get around to him. There was also the great divider between both of your friend groups. And that has to do with a former couple consisting of Jeon Jungkook and (as she likes to be called) Vampire Princess Yeri, Future Queen of Huth (a made up planet, she pretends to be from). The two were an inseparable pair during junior year. Though everything began and ended very quickly by the end of eleventh grade. A messy break-up having to do with abortion, broken CDs, and hair ties is what it took to break the two apart. Ever since even their friend groups have felt the angry tension that still lies between Jungkook and Yeri.
And that tension is what’s making this round of truth or dare so competitive. Somehow (truth be told, it’s the alcohol and nostalgia) Yeri and Jungkook have been pulled together in the Wang family’s second floor guestroom. In an effort to keep things civil both of their friend groups decided to join in on this reunion, and Min Yoongi is the genius who suggested the game of truth or dare. This game, which could risk bringing out old memories, could also quickly divert attention from one dramatic event to another. And with the ten or so people already playing lowers the odds of Yeri and Jungkook coming in direct contact with each other. Also, you could be imagining this, but Yoongi appears to be sitting the closest to the bottle you have all decided will determine the next victim in the game. Maybe it’s so he can quickly move the bottle in case it could cause Jungkook and Yeri to interact. You’re theorizing now, and decide to set those thoughts aside in order to better enjoy the game. All in all, you admire Yoongi’s quick thinking and continue to admire him, especially after you dare him to do twenty push ups, and he does thirty with the petite Yeri sitting on his back.
“Wow, man of the hour Min Yoongi seems to have been chosen by the bottle once again!” Jeon Jungkook shouts. Everyone’s relieved because Jungkook is seated right next to Yoongi, and the bottle was about to land on the younger man, but thank, God, it didn’t.
“Truth or dare?” Yeri asks. She’s smiling. It’s her turn to dish out the truth or dare, and she was almost faced with the pressure of talking to her ex. They haven’t talked in so long, and everything was such a mess. She should be shaken, but you quickly notice that your theory was right. The reason she’s smiling is because of the genius Min Yoongi, who was able to pull a sleight of the hand trick and force the bottle to move just a little towards him.
“Truth, sure.” He smiles back at her.
“Earth. What are your honest opinions about it?” You gulp, Yoongi gulps. Everyone is a bit shaken that she would ask such a question. Earth, everyone here’s home planet (“home” used lightly, no one was actually born there), has been hot in the news. The topic is essentially like what abortion was in 2018. Right now, Earth is essentially humanity’s dying grandmother. Ever since wildfires, and other climate change events have taken over the planet, scientists decided one of the major priorities is relocating humanity. This was also controversial. There are essentially two sides to this argument. One thought that the priority should be preserving Earth and protecting it. The other believed in getting out of Earth as soon as possible. Obviously the side that had more money on its side won, and that the was latter side. Businesses found a money making opportunity in spreading humanity throughout the universe. New land to buy, new industries to come, etc. So humanity survived through spreading itself throughout the universe and adapting to new places. In the present, no one lives on Earth. People who were there either were killed by the climate or moved out. The first people to move off Earth were the richest, those who could afford to escape Earth’s capitalism to the new capitalistic worlds beyond Earth. The final generations were among the lucky middle class, including your family, and many others who live on the planet that you reside. Fourth generation non-Earth born families like the Wangs are rare here, but they are the highest of society. Most people who live on this planet are children or grandchildren of Earth-born people. The preservation of Earth is still a controversial subject. Currently, the planet is in a state of environmental turmoil. It’s uninhabitable, and people are barred from going to it. Many people are against spending any new money made in space on Earth, including many people in this room.
“Uh,” Yoongi gulps. He’s an honest man, doesn’t want to lie. That and mostly because he’s had a few drinks and that makes him too honest, a fool. “I’d love to visit it. I think it’s a beautiful planet, and we should take care of it. Hm, like I’ve actually been thinking of sneaking over and visiting it. I have an extra long summer this year, why not?”
“What?!” The first shout comes from Kim Seokjin, another member of high society. His family made much money off of leaving Earth, so it makes sense as to why he wouldn’t care so much about the mother planet. “You have no idea what you’re talking about. There’s no reason to keep that garbage planet around anymore—”
And he’s cut off from all the other screams erupting and attacking Min Yoongi. The circle is closing around him, and the only thing preventing people from touching the man is Jeon Jungkook. The muscle pig fends off anyone that physically tries to attack Yoongi.
You decide that this shouting fest is a signal for you to leave the room. Yeri’s sitting next to you, and she’s not into all this vocal and almost physical violence, so she takes your hand and gets up so you two can get out. You guide her to the little nook you were sitting in before. You two are still close enough to hear the screaming, but it’s quiet enough for you two to talk.
“Well, that was wild.” Yeri says. “I thought Jungkook and I in the same room would cause conflict, but apparently Min Yoongi’s words are ten times as powerful.”
“Yeah,” You take a breath. Yoongi and Jungkook are slipping out of the room in front of you two, running downstairs or somewhere to somehow escape the mob that’s following them. You quickly turn around afraid they’ll read your thoughts. Your voice drops to a whisper, afraid the mob will hear you. “You know, I actually agree with Yoongi. I think Earth is great, and would wanna visit it. Like we wouldn’t have to worry about oxygen shortages or any oxygen-related problems for once.”
“Hm,” Yeri nods, taking in what you just admitted. You trust the girl enough with this somewhat secret opinion of yours. “I actually agree with you on some level, though I would never want to visit it myself. I just don’t think we should toss it to the side. Too much history. It feels wrong.”
“Yeah! You get me.” You squeeze her hand, you’re still clasping, a little tighter glad you’re not alone in your thoughts.
A few minutes after you and Yeri witness Yoongi’s escape, Jeon Jungkook comes rushing up the stairs. Alcohol heavy in his breath, he kneels down in front of you two and takes Yeri’s hand in his. Looking at her directly in the eye, he mutters, “We need to talk.”
She simply nods as he stands up and leads her into the now empty bedroom where the turmoil began, and some may begin again. You, worried about another messy fight starting, rush into the room, panic building in your stomach. “Hey, I don’t think you guys should be talking alone.”
“Psh, shhh, shh, Y/N. You know how calm alcohol makes me, same with Jungkookie. This is probably the most peaceful we’ll ever be with each other, don’t worry.” The words spill out of her mouth quickly, and her eyes stay trained on Jungkook’s as they sit down on the floor next to each other, their strangely positioned bodies facing you and still holding hands. They look dumb, but you’re still worried about them.
“Nah, Y/N, don’t be a worry wart. I just want to get some closure before we leave for university, it’s been such a mess, and I just want to get some last words in before we both never see each other again. You know how it’s like nowadays.” Jungkook says in a rushed manner. He’s right though. People stay in school longer, getting post-graduate degrees right after their undergraduate degrees in order to get halfway decent jobs. Science is most popular occupation, so after getting PhDs or whatever, people go on immersing themselves in long-term studies for the rest of their lives. You know that Yeri is going after this common career path, so you can understand why Jungkook would want some literal final words with Yeri.
“Okay, before I leave. How’s Yoongi?”
Jungkook finally takes his eyes off Yeri to respond to you, “Hiding out. He’s planning on leaving in a few minutes.”
“Thanks, bye. Don’t fight.” So you slip out, but kept the door open just in case the former couple begins causing some trouble.
You are once again stationed at your little window spot, looking out into all the vehicles parked. Yoongi’s shiny, silver spaceship catches your eye once again. After hearing his honesty about Earth, you suddenly feel more drawn to him. The urge to converse with him about his thoughts on Earth is so strong. You two have something significant in common. This attraction mixed with the strange feeling of listening to Jungkook and Yeri’s whispers of final goodbyes (as well as the few drinks Yeri peer pressured you into drinking earlier) is what motivates you to go outside and stand right next to Yoongi’s spaceship waiting for him to arrive.
In a few minutes, just like Jungkook said, Yoongi gets outside to his ship. He looks like a classic emo boy, with his hands in his pockets and hood up covering most of his face, most likely to mask his identity from the mob that he miraculously escaped from.
“Hey!” You wave at him. You’re smiling, looking more friendly than anyone else he’s seen at the party all day. He’s still worried about the mob, so looks around to make sure no one followed him out and you aren’t baiting him into some trap. “I swear, I come in peace.” You flash him a peace sign, and that makes his lips curve into a little smile.
“Okay, but step behind the ship with me. I don’t want to be caught next to her—”He points at his ship—“and get her hurt by the mob.”
“Uh, alright.” You trust him enough that he won’t harm you, so you get behind the ship with him, hidden from anyone exiting the Wang household. You two are quiet, staring out at the fenced in open field Yoongi parked in front of. “Hey, uh, I thought that it’s pretty cool that you want to go to Earth.”
The quiet boy, turns his head, finally looking at your face. “Really?”
“Yeah, I’d like to visit it too. It’s a thing I’ve been thinking about for a while.”
“Psh, no way.” He rolls his eyes in disbelief.
“I actually really love planets and space. I think all the planets should be respected and taken care of.”
“There are planets everywhere. With ‘scientist’ being the most popular career today, a lot of people like planets and space. What makes you special?”
“Okay, I did not expect to be attacked with such a specific question. I would have thought someone just mobbed by a bunch of Earth-haters would be more peaceful.”
“Fine, okay. I’ll chill. Sorry, I get like weirdly honest and attacky when I’m drunk.”
“It’s alright.” A silence envelopes your conversation again. “Do you like seriously, really want to go to Earth?”
“Mhm.” Yoongi nods, turning his head to look at you again wondering about the thoughts going through your mind.
It’s probably the exhilaration of finally getting to talk to this guy you’ve never really been able to talk to before that gives you the courage to suggest this dumb, fun idea. “I feel the same way. Well, I think we should go. Together.”
“Now?”
“Uh, I mean, shouldn’t we plan it or something?”
“I’m a really good pilot, and I keep a go-bag in my ship for emergencies. I actually have this whole plan made and prepared for going to Earth. I just never had enough courage to act on it. Though knowing someone else is into going to Earth, I’m really down now.”
“Wow, I didn’t think me wanting to go to Earth would motivate you that much.”
“You’re that cool, Y/N.” Now, you’re blushing a little and turn away humbled by his compliment. You never really go out that much, so actually going to Earth is really wild for you, but your adrenaline is running so hard that you actually agree to this foolish plan.
“Sure.” You nod, still avoiding his gaze. “I just need to pick up some things from my house.”
“Won’t your parents be weird about you coming home and then disappearing for an extended period of time?”
“Psh, no they’re off on a business trip. What about your parents?”
“I have no idea why, but they’re cool with this Earth trip, as long as I let them know.”
“What? Are they insane? This is illegal and dangerous.”
“They’re that cool too.” He giggles, thinking his repeated statement is somehow clever. Then he unlocks his ship. “Get in.”
“Alright.” You climb in and watch as he almost trips getting inside.
“Wait, are you still drunk?”
“Mhm.” He nods, putting his keys in the ignition.
“Uh no, no. No drunk piloting.”
“Okay, then you pilot.” He takes out the keys and hands them to you, almost getting out of his seat.
“I’ve never piloted before, and I’m a little drunk too.” You hand the keys back to him. He looks at you, a little shocked expression on his face.
“You took AP Mechanics, but you’ve never flown a spaceship before?”
“No,” A little smirk crawls onto your face remembering that one time during a quiz when Yoongi got called out for not knowing what a car was. “But at least I know what a car is.”
“Okay, okay.” His cheeks are red, you’re not sure if it’s the alcohol or him being embarrassed. You didn’t bother looking at his face for so long earlier, too shy after your proposal. “Lemme sober up, then we’ll go.”
It’s like two hours later, and your third time using your portable breathalyzer on Yoongi, and he’s still drunk. For most of the time, silence fills the ship. Yoongi lets out an aggressive exhale of frustration, then starts digging into his pocket for something. A few seconds later, a joint and a lighter appear in his hand.
“You want a hit?” He asks you more casually than he should be asking. Yoongi’s calm tone makes it sound like you smoke weed with Yoongi frequently, which you don’t.
“What the fuck, Yoongi? This planet is so strict on drugs, how did you even get that?”
“Shh, don’t worry about it. Also please stop attacking me with your words. I’m about to pilot us to Earth, I’m a lil’ stressed. I don’t need your bitchy voice stressing me out more.”
“Okay, fine. But you know this is an oxygen rich environment, so you shouldn’t have any open flames. Also, YOU’RE TRYING TO GET SOBER. Please don’t get high in the process of so-called sobering up, you idiot.”
He rolls his eyes, and puts the joint and lighter in the console between you two. “Noted for the next time I want to smoke in an oxygen pod.”
“How about we talk to pass the time?”
“Genius idea. What do you want to talk about?”
“What do you want to do? After this, after high school.”
“Study to be a nuke engineer. Blow things up, boom boom. I love the idea of destroying villages.”
You look at him, with a confused expression unsure if he’s being serious or sarcastic. “Really?”
He looks at you too, shrugging his shoulders. “I guess. I mean, like seriously I want to be a nuclear engineer, but I’m just all morally conflicted about it for the reasons I listed before. A lot nuclear engineers end up working in the war industry, and I don’t know if I want to deal with all the morality in that without being willing to put myself on the line or experiencing these things face first. I’d want to experience the war first.”
“Have you ever considered joining the military?”
“I’ve always wanted to be a nuclear engineer, but only recently I’ve been thinking about the military. I actually have an intent to register, like one of those physical contract things. Probably going to be shipped off to some basic training by the end of this summer.”
“Wow, that’s wild.” It really is. There’s a high likelihood of him dying while in the military, considering all the interplanetary wars going on right now, but there are also many benefits for joining—discounts on anything you can think of, free education, free healthcare that actually works.
“I’ll be studying while serving, then I’ll probably leave and do something with my degree. I don’t really want to die.”
“Good idea.”
“Yeah,” He chuckles, thinking about his fragile morality. “Speaking of good ideas, what good ideas do you have for your future?”
“Well, I’m going off to another planet for immersive university studies. Obviously, like everyone everywhere I’m going to be a scientist. Though, I’m lucky enough to have already scored a spot in a study, which I’ll probably end up dedicating my life to.”
“Not nearly as wild as my plans, but safe.”
“Yeah, but I really want to get out more, but I’m already kind of locked in to my future.”
“Well, good thing we’re going to Earth then.”

author’s note The chapters are relatively short, but I’m splitting them because each chapter has a corresponding song. Lmbf was inspired by “Youth” by Troye Sivan, “Secret” by WJSN, and “Run” by BTS. Parts of each song have inspired parts of each chapter, but each song has its own dedicated chapter. “Youth” is this chapter’s main song.

Supernatural!NDRV3 Boys and human S/O
Tumblr media
I ran out of ideas by the time I got to Gonta.
- Mod Teruteru
Shuichi Saihara
- Dating someone you can’t touch is a bit weird.
- As a ghost, Shuichi is intangible and your not able to do normal things normal couples would do like hugging, holding hands, kissing, things like that.
- It came to the point where Shuichi had started blaming himself for you not being able to love you properly.
- But you told him not to worry about it.
- “You shouldn’t have to worry about not being able to touch me. I still love you, and you still love me. As long as we can express that in anyway to each other nothing changes. We’re just like every other couple, okay?”
- Shuichi’s face started turning red, contrasting to his normal pale white.
- “T-thank you S/O.”
- “Hm? I didn’t know ghosts could blush.”
- “N-no I was just-”
- “I love you Shuichi!”
- “S-stop!”
- You ended up teasing him all day after that, and then apologizing because you love him.
Kaito Momota
- Dating a werewolf has always been just the slightest bit strange.
- At least once a month you have to chain him to the old steel heater in your basement that's attached to the floor.
- Then when he turns full wolf it's your job to keep him satisfied and under control until morning.
- But otherwise, he's a nice guy.
- Hiding his wolfness has proven to be difficult though.
- When he gets excited his wolf ears pop from his head and he starts panting.
- It's cute, but it's very compromising for someone trying to hide their species.
- So you have to be the one to pull him into a private room and remind him to calm down and take it easy.
- Then you would hug him, bringing him back to his more human like state.
- What would the poor wolf boy do without you?
Rantaro Amami
- He's a Incubus.
- A pretty chill Incubus at that.
- Normally Incubus use their powers to seduce humans and feed off their lust energy.
- But Rantaro seems to have adapted to feeding off the energy humans give off when they feel embarrassed or particularly affectionate.
- Making your relationship a symbiotic one as well as a romantic one.
- When you notice Rantaro is feeling a bit down or tired, you give him a hug or two and suddenly he's back in the race.
- Your first kiss with him was probably the greatest thing you've ever seen.
- Whenever he had asked you for a kiss in the past, it was him legitimately asking for energy.
- He respected your decision to wait, but his energy was depleting rather quickly and he needed affection to survive.
- It was when you witnessed him passing out in your living room that now was probably a good time to have your first kiss.
- Hugs weren't doing anything anyway.
- It took a few seconds of silent hesitation, but when you finally pressed your lips against his, his arms flew, grabbing you and pulling you in for an even deeper kiss then just a peck on the lips.
- When you parted, you both started giggling.
- “Couldn't help yourself, could you Amami?”
- “What? You were the one to make me wait so long.”
Kiibo
- You had met Kiibo almost entirely by accident.
- You were dared by some of your friends to go to the top of the neighborhood hill and go inside the creepy house sitting on top of it.
- Sounds cliche, doesn't it?
- Either way, they got you in there (they offered you like, fifty bucks for it) and told you to take a selfie in the living room as proof you went all the way in.
- You took notice to all the surprisingly new looking photos in shiny frames of some old man standing proudly next to what looks like an incredibly detailed sculpture of a boy about your age.
- As you listened to the floorboards creak under your weight, you tiptoed unconsciously through the hallways until you were met with what you believed to be to living room.
- You took your phone out and opened up the camera. When you switched it to the front camera, you could see a figure behind you.
- “AHH!”
- “AHHHH!”
- It wasn't very tall, and it wasn't very menacing, but it frightened you for sure.
- “W-who are you?!”
- “M-my name is Kiibo Idabashi! I'm a creation of certified evil scientist Professor Idabashi.”
- Evil scientist?
- “Then...what are you?”
- “I'm a clay golem. The best of the best!”
- You blinked. Clay golem? Like, Frankenstein or something?
- “Are you the kid who's in all the picture back there?”
- “Yes, I am. But unfortunately, the other man in the pictures has passed away. Professor Idabashi…”
- “Have you been here ever since?”
- His head dipped and his ahoge even drooped a bit.
- “Y...yes. I know that humans aren't as accepting as the professor and his peers. So I've been deactivating myself to avoid meeting any. I only just woke up because I heard you come in.”
- “Would you...like to come out of here with me? I could be some kind of ambassador or something.”
- If Kiibo's eyes were real, they'd be sparkling.
- “Really?!”
- “Uh, sure. You seem like a nice guy.”
- He jumped up and hugged you tight, almost yelling his thank you’s.
- “Oh thank you thank you thank you!! You're so nice! If all humans are as nice as you, then I'm sure we'll all be able to get along.”
- Your face turned red, and you laughed awkwardly.
- “O-oh, I mean, I'm not the nicest person in the world but, I have a bunch of friends waiting for me to come back out so, why don't we go now?”
- “Okay, let's go!”
Kokichi Ouma
- He's an imp who could have guessed.
- Ever since he met you he dropped his normal imp form and went for a more “modern human” type look.
- Though he kept the tail and horns for asthetics sake.
- If he really needs to, he'll take his shirt off and let his wings out.
- By really needs to I mean whenever he wants to embarrass you.
- He finds humans like you really interesting.
- Rather than being scared of him when he first arrived, you were rather fascinated by him.
- How a being like an imp could actually exist in the first place.
- He probably likes humans more than he does his own kind.
- Every imp is fairly the same
- They lie, they cheat, they trick others for fun.
- You were the main reason for him to stay on Earth full time.
- Not that he would tell you that…
Korekiyo Shinguji
- You met him at a beach, assuming he was some kind of stranded seal or something.
- When you had gotten closer, you could clearly see the top half of a human attached to the stranded half.
- He had long black hair and had some kind of cloth mask on his face, reading a ripped piece of newspaper.
- When you approached him and asked him what he was doing, he looked at you and made a noise that you were pretty sure was a laugh.
- “KuKuKu, for once I didn't have to lure one in. This one seems to want to talk to me.”
- “What are you talking about?”
- He put a hand on his chest.
- “I am a siren. A Greek 'myth’ according to humans. I use my singing voice to lure humans on ships to their doom. In other stories my kind of known to eat the flesh of the humans we kill, but that is entirely untrue.” - He puts the newspaper clipping down. - “I should know.”
- You sat down, crossing your legs with your eyes sparkling and a huge grin on your face.
- “That sounds really cool. Do you think you can tell me more?” - “Hm? You’re interested in my stories?”
- You nodded.
- “Yeah! I’ve always been into greek mythology. My favorite is Cerberus, not just because they’re they guard the gateway to the underworld, but also all of the pottery that they’re displayed on. All of it is really impressive and beautiful.” - “Oh, then perhaps you would be interested in some of the stories of Hades?”
- “Yes, please tell me.” - It was strange to him, how you were actually interested in his stories.
- No one else had been.
- Perhaps he was he was already growing fond of you?
- How strange.
Gonta Gokuhara
- You can’t remember ever wanting to date a dryad.
- But then again, you never knew that they existed in the first place so, there’s that.
- Being a Dryad doesn’t make him any different from humans, besides the fact that he’s a literal tree person.
- But he’s fascinated by human culture.
- Especially about this whole gentlemen concept.
- When he had first learned about it, he made it his goal to become a gentleman, mainly so he could be more accepted by humans.
- So, you helped him out.
- You found tailors that could make suits his size, you learned alongside him on how to treat a lady, even how to properly make and serve tea.
- But one day, he approached you about it.
- “Hm? What is it Gonta?” - “Gonta have to tell you something. Gonta not become gentleman for other humans to accept him more.”
- He got down on one knee and showed you a bouquet of freshly picked flowers.
- “Gonta wanted to become gentleman, to become closer to S/O. G-Gonta hope,” - He blushed, scratching the back of his neck and looking to the side,
- “Gonta hope you don’t mind.” - You smiled, eyes sparkling.
- “Aw Gonta! Of course I don’t mind. That’s really very sweet of you.” - He smiled wide, glowing with happiness.
- “T-thank you for understanding S/O!”
Ryoma Hoshi
- Dwarfs can be pretty strange, to say the least.
- Hoshi, for example, doesn't really care whether or not humans see him.
- Unlike other dwarfs, he lives in an apartment with two cats and a fairly good rent price.
- You've asked him about it before, but the main reason seems to be that he doesn't really care for other dwarfs.
- Their religious to an annoying level, they force their beliefs onto their children, everything there can get pretty stressful if you aren't prepared for it.
- So instead, he stayed here to live the human life.
- No magic, no battles, just his S/O and his cats.
- Which you find very cute.
- “You mean, you stay here for me?”
- “I-I mean, partly for you...for the cats, and uhm, humanity as well I guess.”
- You hugged him.
- “Even so, that’s really sweet of you.”
- “Uh, sure.”
- He smiled. You were at least the main reason he stayed.

I’ve been thinking...
I’m pretty sure no one’s gonna see this post. It will get lost in tons of other posts that is about shinee, or jonghyun but I don’t care. My intentions are not someone to see this anyways. I just wanted to write my feelings down to somewhere.
I’ve been thinking...
From the first moment I’ve heard about his death to now. I was SO shocked. Nothing, literally NOTHING has ever got me THIS MUCH shocked since the first day I became a part of the kpop fandom. I was so... surprised. It was so, so, SO unexpected. I couldn’t believe in my eyes. I couldn’t believe any of those titles that says he actually committed suicide. I still can’t... it feels like a bad, bad nightmare. I literally couldn’t know what to do or what so say. I went on twitter and saw that everyone has the same reaction as me, some were crying, some were screaming, some were mourning in silence, some were in denial, some were just accepting the truth and remained silent.
And the thing is, I wasn’t a big fan of him.
Yes, I only knew one of his songs. And for shinee, I only knew like 3-4 of their songs. I knew all of their names, and saw bunch of videos or interviews about them, but that was it. I knew, know, that they’re one of the biggest kpop groups ever. They were so special, so big, so loved, so famous. I was seeing them on social media everytime.
But his death, hit me so hard. It still hits me, up to this moment where I’m writing this down. I feel... empty. I feel speechless. I feel lost. You guys, it effected me so bad. Just like how it did to every other shawol.
But I’m not a shawol?
So I couldn’t understand why.
Why?
Why I was mourning this much for a man that I barely knew about. Why I was feeling like my life had been changed?
I thought the answer was just the fact that someone so kind, so talented, and so good decided to end their life, and left everyone behind. It’s a sad thing, right? It doesn’t matter which fandom you belong, it’s sad, devastating for everyone. A legend, leaving us like this, it made everyone so, so upset.
But I knew it was more than that. There was something else I couldn’t put my finger on.
And when I read the letter he wrote, my heart ached more and more.
But I couldn’t understand why. I was trying to name this feeling but I couldn’t.
So I was thinking about it. I tried to figure this feeling out. I kept looking at the posts and tweets about him and thought about everything all day.
And 5 minutes ago, I suddenly figured out why. The answer hit me like a truck.
I saw myself in him.
He seemed so happy. All the time. Whenever I saw him in a video, or in a photo, or on the stage.
He was smiling.
He was friends with a lot of people.
He saved maybe one, maybe hundreds of lives, with his voice and with his lyrics.
He was an inspiration for a lot of idols, for a lot of people, for a lot of fans.
He gained a lot of love with his sense of humour, with his personality, with his charisma. Right, god, he was so fucking handsome.
He was an amazing, talented singer and a composer.
He was an amazing idol, son, brother, friend, person.
He was always so energetic, he was making everyone around him laugh.
He was making everyone around him happy.
He was so normal.
He was so cheerful.
He was so full of life.
Everyone thought that, right? Everyone thought he was happy. Yes, he was going through some difficulties, but who didn’t, everyone said to themselves. Even he said this to himself. Everyone thought that it’s not that important. Maybe some didn’t even realise that he was faking everything. At the end, no one didn’t really take it serious, right?
Well, because he had everything.
We thought he had everything.
And he had.
Almost had.
Except the real genuineness.
He was forced to laugh.
He was forced to smile.
By himself. By people. By society. By the rules.
I fucking see myself in him.
I keep laughing, smiling, everyday.
I keep talking, making jokes everyday.
I keep acting normal, like nothing is happening inside me. Inside my head. I try to hide it, I don’t want to talk about it, I don’t want to show it.
I feel like I should do these.
Because I feel like I don’t have any right to feel like this.
I just smile to everyone, every damn time. Because I feel like I have to. I feel like I owe something to everyone, except myself.
I tell myself that I should stop exaggerating what I feel inside. I tell myself that some have more important problems. I tell myself that everyone feels a little depressive. There’s nothing special about what I feel. There’s nothing special about me.
I force myself to think about it like that everyday.
And it just hurts more.
And more.
And more.
I feel like I have the worlds biggest problems. But at the same time, I know that I don’t.
So I just lock the feelings inside my head. Yes, I keep doing that.
For the past few weeks, nothing makes me happy. I wake up every morning just for the night to come so I can sleep again. Time is just passing and passing and passing but I do nothing. Things that used to make my day doesn’t entertain me anymore. Nothing makes me feel alive. I can’t focus on anything. I don’t want to celebrate anything. I’m so bored; of doing the same things over again, of thinking about the same things over again. I don’t want to do anything. My smile keeps getting more and more fake each day. I don’t feel genuine. I don’t feel real. Well, in fact, I’ve never felt real... And as I keep locking the feelings up to my head, as I keep acting like nothing is happening, as I keep smiling even if I don’t feel happy deep down, the burden on my shoulders is getting heavier. And I can’t do anything about it.
And I feel so ugly. Everytime I look in the damn mirror I feel disgusting. I stopped eating. I know it’s unhealthy, I’m sick of everyone keep telling me that, keep telling me the things I know. But I don’t want to eat anything. I don’t want to think about eating. But at the same time, I can’t stop myself from thinking about eating. And I can’t do anything about it.
I lost my trust in people, in my friends. I lost my interest in them. I feel like everyone’s lying. It’s like everyone’s slowly withdrawing. I used to love being with friends, talking with friends, doing fun things with friends, hanging out with friends. Now I don’t want to see anyone. Any person being. Because being with people means acting all bubbly and happy all the time, although I never feel bubbly and happy inside.
Everything is just sucks. I’m suck at everything. I can’t do anything right. Sometimes people taunt me about it. About my stupidity. And I can’t do anything about it.
And you know what the worst thing is? You know what other people will say if you open up to them.
They won’t understand it. They will underestimate your problems. They will say that some people have bigger issues. They will say that you’re too young and inexperienced to hate the world. They will say that the sadness you feel is not that important, that everyone feels the same emptiness time to time, that it will just go away somehow. They won’t care about it. They will forget what you said to them 5 minutes later.
But I don’t blame anyone for this. This is what humankind is. We only care about ourselves. Our problems. Our pain. We don’t pay attention to the surroundings, then realise the value of something when we lost it. When it’s too late.
I lost the brightness inside me. I used to have a light inside me. But now, it’s just darkness. And I can’t do anything about it.
And there’s something I can’t decide:
I want someone to realise it. But they don’t. Is it because I’m too good at not showing the real me or they just don’t care enough?
But at the same time, I don’t want anyone to know how much pain I’m in. I don’t want anyone to ruin the darkness I have in me. I want to remain unhappy. I don’t know why, it’s weird, who wouldn’t want to be happy, right? Everything hurts, but I like the way it is. Cause I believe there’s nothing to feel happy about in this earth anymore. Don’t try to pull that “life is a special gift” shit on me because it’s not. Small things, hobies, people, dreams, they do makes us happy but that’s just an illusion. Mankind is so disgusting, selfish, stupid and ugly. Man, I can keep talking about how fucked up this world and society is but this passage is not about this.
Anyways, maybe I’m just tired of trying to be happy. I just let it be. Or maybe I don’t want to hear the things everyone seems to learn by heart in these days; some encouraging, supportive shit, then they will keep focusing on their own life and problems.
Don’t get me wrong. People around me are the nicest. I have the best family, the best friends.
But kim jonghyun had those too, right?
Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough for him.
I can understand him better now. He left millions of broken hearts behind, but he won’t be in pain anymore.
I kind of envy that.
You made me realise my situation better than ever kim jonghyun.
You felt like no one understands you.
I feel like no one understands me.
You felt so alone although you were surrounded by lot of people.
I feel so alone although I’m surrounded by a lot of people.
You missed the happy days. Happy memories.
I miss the happy days. Happy memories.
You tried to understand yourself but you couldn’t.
I try to understand myself but I can’t.
You felt like drowning.
I feel like drowning.
You tried to fight with the dark thoughts till the end, but they’ve won the match.
I’m still here trying to fight with them. I don’t know how to win either. I’m about to give up. I don’t know what to do. I just want some peace. I want to relax.
You felt like no one understands you.
But I understand you jonghyun, I understand you so damn well and it hurts.
The world is in pain because of the thing you did, but you wanted to do something for yourself just for once, didn’t you?
I understand you.
Living with this pain, with this darkness for years must be so terrible.
I don’t care about what other people say about you because you decided to end your life, because you chose the easiest way to escape.
I know it wasn’t easy.
You were so strong, kim jonghyun.
I hope you’re somewhere happier now. Somewhere that has the peace you have been seeking for.
I’m not a religious person. But if there’s an afterlife, or heaven, or something, anything like that, and if you’re seeing these;
Please know that I understand you. Someone understands you.
We understand you.
You’ve always been such an angel, but now, you became an actual angel. Farewell, kim jonghyun. Rest in peace.
This cruel world didn’t deserve such a good person like you anyways...
Rest in peace

More Drew Tanaka Headcanons (someone stop meeeee)
Drew is really into saving the environment and using environment friendly makeup and makeup remover.  She gets her best products from plants actually so, the Demeter cabin is always up for helping.
Drew is vegetarian so, she only eats certain foods and is really health-nut conscious on making sure that she stays healthy along with the rest of her cabin, camp, and world.
Tons of campers ask her about the chopsticks she wears in her hair and what culture follows behind with that tradition, etc.  She just laughs at them and makes fun of it because, who the hell puts Chopsticks in their hair?  Their just normal hair sticks that look like chopsticks.  They have no cultural meaning and it’s just a lame nineties trend that Drew adopted into her everyday style.
She has multiple earrings and loves to wear long earrings because of how they feel when they dangle on her shoulders.  They’re normally feathers or different trinket-y things that make noise.
She owns several shirts with slogans that say, Go Green! Recycle! Mother Earth Loves YOU! (not many people liked that one after the War against Gaea...)
Drew owns several different colours of eyeliner and switches them out frequently, using black/brown the least.
Drew’s camp necklace is a long chain with a large pendant at the top (a dove carved on marble) with the beads hanging below it on a strand of metal.  The top bead belonged to Silena and it was the summer that Drew showed up at camp when Silena was so nice to her, even if Drew was a bit of a bitch.
Since she doesn’t have natural freckles, she uses glitter as highlighter/freckles on her cheekbones, starting a trend at Camp Half-Blood (which was also a trend everywhere, i think).
Drew’s favourite subject in school is Culture and she loves to learn about religion and different beliefs.  Her favourite two to learn about was Muslim and Buddhism because of the different and amazing ways they taught.
Drew wears a one-piece bathing suit because she doesn’t wish to ‘expose herself’.  it has a giant hole on the back, revealing her back down to her hips but, that doesn’t stop her ;)
She and Will binge Voltron every time they go to his Mom’s house.  Her favourite character is Pidge because she’s smol and tuff.
DREW HATES FIREWORKS.  They’re so loud???  And bright and she can’t handle that they go past midnight??????  She plays Uno in her cabin with a whole bunch of other campers (who have hearing problems/sensitive eyes or ears/or don’t like fireworks) while listening to Justin Bieber.
Drew is beast at Baseball and if a bat could be her normal weapon, it totally would be.
(Chiron says no because it’s not made of celestial bronze and Drew doesn’t want a metal bat she wants an authentic wooden baseball bat)
She also has the best record on the lava wall.
She loves painting her nails nude colours because they look nicest.
Drew’s really good at weaving??  But doesn’t show it?? Because she’s embarrassed?????
Favourite holiday is Christmas because why not???  XD
She hates snow tho, it’s white and it’s sticky and it covers all of New York and it’s cold as hell and when she’s walking to school, she slips and trips or drops her homework in a pile of slush.
Drew loves cars - drawing them, fixing them up, painting them, fixing tires, driving, anything cars and she loves it.  Her grandpa fixed up old cars when he was still alive.
When he died, he left his garage of like, 12 cars to Drew so that she could fix them.  This includes a 77′ Fleetwood Mac and like, a crap ton of really nice cars that just need a new engine and a paint job.
i just love Drew a lot
she and i, we could be best friends, man.  i can feel it

[HERE IS THE BORING PART WHERE WE TELL YOU HOW IT ALL HAPPENED AND THANK EVERYONE AND STUFF]
We started this project quite a long time ago, around the beginning of the year 2000 with me, Sibot, and Felix Laband before the whole max normal thing got started, but then i had to fight with Roach and Fletcher (which was kind of like my fault) and i said i didn’t want to speak to them again. Then I got bored with the max normal project because it didn’t accomodate my need to make new songs all the time, plus i had just met Markus Wormstorm who is the only person who makes music as fast as me. Then I phoned Fletcher and said sorry for being a dick and he said it’s ok, then i asked him if he still wanted to work with me and he said ...mmm, ok... so we started recording again (i had said sorry to Felix a little while before that.) Me and Si were a little scared to leave our comfort zone, but we were both really happy to be living in Cape Town and working on a skill-oriented album, so we didn’t really mind being poor for a year and starting from scratch again. Me and Markus went into Tim Parrs studio and finished recording all the vocals in three days because of our incredible pre-production ability. Then Markus deleted the whole album on the last day by mistake... well, he said he did it on purpose because he thought I could do better, but nobody really believed him. So we re-recorded the album but then we went into this whole lengthy, unexpected process (capetown is wierd like that) which involved meeting a whole bunch of new artists who shared similar visions to us, working harder than any of us have worked in our whole lives, and kind of like stepping back and letting go a bit as this constructus thing started growing into its own creature. Anica the Snufling came to join us on vocals as well as Rick Flare, Darrel, Michelle, Johnny Stokes, Mr Rockadopolis, and Shabang. Then i met a truly strange character called Nikhil Singh who moved in with me and drew the beautiful comic which follows this. Nik also played the guitar on ‘hot-water’ as well as with my head which was in need of a little tampering at the time. Risk hit us with the idea for our constructus icon (the robot throwing up the ball)... Jan taught me these cool excercizes you can do on a jungle-gym, Devin helped me invent the BLOOD-NOSE PUSSY-BOY story (and might even help me out with it more, if i’m lucky)... Berlin East stole my underpants and wore them ontop of his pants to this one party, Si got a final scratch which he is very happy with, and we all started working on our live show because we didn’t rehearse properly for our first shows and our performances were pretty kak... but we’ve been working real hard and we like really, really good now. I also made this other song which I love more than anything with my friend Dan Roberts called ‘Scum Deluxe’ which is actually a present for my other friend Lux Janssen, but some of the lads from our camp were a little nervous of putting a country song on the album so i’m going to put it out with Alien on Chameleon Records (on ‘MY FAVORITE SONGS AT THE MOMENT’ project). Also we couldn’t fit the entire saga on one cd so we decided to put them on our web-sight so that people can download them for free and make their own double cd. You can also download our wonderful little motivational movie called: HOW TO BECOME A BETTER PERSON THE MUSICAL for free off our site plus a whole lot of other nifty this’ and thats’. Inca has been building a visual library of our constructus imagery that she edits live behind us when we perform so that the show expands into an entirely infinite virtual realm. Also all the music videos and movies we making are intricately laced to the plot so that, in about a year or so from now, you’ll be able to watch them all together like one of those cool, old-fashioned musicals. If anyone asks you what kind of music we make you must say that it’s called BOOM BAM, cos it’s new and we don’t really like hip-hop anymore cos it’s dumb. We feel that the spirit the art movement we represent needs a name that represents it properly, so there you have it: BOOM BAM. If anyone asks you what BOOM BAM is you can say that it’s computer game music. BOOM BAM artists (or programmers) create their own original alternate reality’s complete with their own characters and sound-tracks. The programmers assume a more background role while their characters become the celebrities. Daniel Levi introduced me to Random Boy and Kidtronic a long time ago (as well as inventing Kidtronic’s handwriting and being a huge inspiration to this whole project.) He’s going to be doing a whole lot of stuff with us which i’m really happy about cos Daniel is really clever and is also one of the illest directors alive on Earth as well as one of my favorite people ever. Magdeline and Timon played violin on the track he’s going to be making a video for soon called V. Marc Lottering has been looking after me the whole year, being my friend and also making sure i’m not hungry... dankie dankie dankie maneer, you have been the shark-net in my paddling pool... ...the fuel in my flame-thrower, the mushy stuff in my tinkie. William Shatner also helped me out beautifully using her advanced therapeutic techniques and so i’d like to say thankyou honey, you the shit xxx. African Dope Records are the coolest label i could have ever possibly dreamed to work with, plus they pretend not to notice when i steal fruit and veggies from their entrance hall. Roach is my daddy, i love him more than he knows. Heather looks after us so so nicely and Ian says wierd, clever stuff the whole time that i sometimes don’t always understand right away, which i dig. Also we thank Bell Roberts for recognizing what we doing and backing our shit... Maude, Johan, Cedwax and Benwar for looking after us so nicely in France and sparking our little international expansion... and Fletcher, Inca and Si thanks for the best time in the world ever. Maria, thankyou for being such a darling and for activating Metatron One. Also to my man Fungus the mutated lung for taking me out, giving birth to Johnny Stokes and for being so fuckin ill and Ginny Grindith for being so fuck you (the space between words is very beautiful man) Anwar, Jo#an, Turbeou Jones, the lovely lady Rosalux and everyone else who worked on HOW TO BECOME A BETTER PERSON - episode one... thankyou so much, we got lots of stuff to do now ...Jill for being written in our future Kriek for your entirely harmonic vibrational frequency. Brendan and Stephan from Session magazine for keeping this whole independent thing strong... and Clint, you can use any of my music for anything, whenever... you the motherfuckin man homie. Godessa and Squatter Comp for bringing it like you do. Anica says I have to say thankyou to her three times, so thankyou Anica for gracing us with your existence... all hail the voodoo-boogie shake-down queen.. thankyou so much for being such a brat, and thankyou for buying me this notepad i’m writing all this stuff in <3 ...Duncan, hello... thanks for making sure we always have vegetarian food on the planes, and for organizing our shit and for being able to handle me, here we go sir. Also we would like to thank The Venerable Emperor Of The Known Universe for establishing our communicative link with The Jellyfish. And to Si and Dunc’s mom and dad for being so nice to us and believing in us. And Markus and Anri’s parents, Rosa, Piet, Ben and Elna for raising their kids so well. And to Andrew and Goody for telling us we so ill. Mama, Boo, Dyl, and the Debsta, love you, love you, love you, love you for ever and ever and ever and ever, amen. And to other Andrew who won’t let me start an informative lifestyle magazine with his face on the cover called Andrew... punk, thanks for breathing life into our jellyfish. And Mark and Sean for all the good times and for all the music we made together and to Al my pal for turbo-charging my career... i’m glad we friends again. Ay rob, sick mix of ‘Body-snatchers’ (comming out soon) ta mister. Also Felix Laband, Sibot, and Markus Wormstorm are my favorite artists in the whole world, and Anica is my favorite vocalist ever and i know them. The Lensta’s not so bad himself but if he dyes my poodle pink one more time i’m going to tell his mom about the incedent with the old blind guy. Yo petru, thanks for being so cool... Yo Si, thanks for lending me that g and for having my back. Alien, you better quit with the late night pervert calls. My friend Bernie gave me the idea for The Ambrosial Hours. Markus Wormstorm let me stay at his house for the last month of this project which was very nice of him. He also engineered and mixed most of this album (even the songs he didn’t make, much to his dissaproval) so he’s gonna get a real nice birthday present from me for his 21st in december. (sorry, i have to interrupt myself here, i just finished the nicest song ever with Len called Touch The Sky... Cher says we excellent...) Anyway, Fletcher’s been the illest, most intuitive cat to work with. He did a whole lot of gorgeous soundscaping on this album, as well as final mixing and mastering. Sibot is Jimmy Hendrix on the decks... he has advanced beyond all competition as usual. Inca is often the invisible pulse that holds this whole sucker together and has been an absolute sweetheart through and through in everything she does. She has also rented her flat out to me for a very reasonable price. Oh ja, also... we did 90% of this album in our bedrooms and we could have done it all in our bedrooms but Tim’s got such nice, old analogue equipment to do vocal stuff and final touches through, plus he’s the nicest person in the world, so we couldn’t help but work with him. We also want to point out the fact that there has been no corporate assistance whatsoever on this project and that anyone can do this with low-fi pc equipment, some pirate software and a little love. Obviously we now going to go through some corporate channels to hit as many humans as possible, but we have complete creative control and they do what we say. We would like everyone who is interested in creating art for a living to follow our example. There is no excuse for not being able to make it because of the system and everything. The system is eating it’s own tail... we just helping to stuff it further down it’s throat, while dancing around jubilously with it’s entrails around our necks (Markus made me put that last bit in.) Love is entirely unpalatable to these parasites that govern this realm and they feed off your fear, so please would everybody be so kind as to remove their food supply and act like you know so we can exterminate these poor lost fucks.
metatron one_out.
(p.s. i got the name Snufflegruff and the Bazooka-Nuker concept from Alan Moore’s D.R. and Quinch, who Random Boy is kind of obsessed with and i read the Magic Ear story in this children’s book while walking through a shopping mall one day... my version is just an adoption. Markus Wormstorm wrote most parts of this story which involve Kidtronic, which he says are the most important parts in the whole saga. Also Julia Clark is the loveliest girl ever. we got big stuff comming. My little brother Lee told me ‘the two giraffes in a bar joke’ and Markus made up ‘the Boys 2 Men thing’ that happened while Kidtronic was interacting with an old-fashioned, alternate reality. But other than that me, Sibot, Markus and Anica invented this whole thing all on our own and we are very proud of ourselves because of it.)

Paranoid: Part 5
Tumblr media
Member: Jeon Jungkook Genre: Angst AU: Witch/Soulmate Warnings: Blood and death Word count: 2.3k Series Masterlist
It’s been about a week since Jungkook and I started staying with Taehyung, they have gotten along fine, which I found surprising, mainly due to the fact that well Taehyung is my brother and Jungkook is now my boyfriend instead of just my house mate. Being with him didn’t make him any less awkward than he normally was, in fact he got more awkward, but in a cute way. We spent the last week spying on Jimin as well, and we had enough proof that he was in fact working with Syndicate, Tae was getting everything set up for his conviction, but since he would be executed in the end of it all it was taking longer than normal and it was only just today that his notice was sent out. It kind of scared me when it came to busting Jimin, but it also made me sad, I thought Jimin was my best friend, but finding all of this out changed my mind, I haven’t talked to him since the mall incident, I’ve ignored all his calls and texts, he has to be getting suspicious by now, this long without talking is absurd. Currently Jungkook, Tae and I are sitting on the couch playing board games, Jungkook was cheating at half of them, I didn’t care that much, but Taehyung takes his games seriously and has been calling him out after everything he did, we were taking a small break from the games, so I took the opportunity to go to the bathroom and leave the boys to argue about cheating at the games, but when I got in there and did my business it got way too quiet and it wasn’t just that they were being quiet, there would still be noises because Taehyung basically never shuts up, this was an eerie kind of quiet, something was wrong. When I finished I grabbed the curtains and the curtain rod down from the window. I stripped the curtains off the rod and put them in the bathtub, I kept the rod to use as a weapon because I was sure something was wrong, I didn’t hear Tae sniggering over the fact that I was going to be scared, I didn’t hear Jungkook agreeing with him. When I walked out there was a true sight to see, Jungkook was on the floor face first, Jimin had Jungkook’s hand pulled behind his back, Taehyung was still standing, but he had his arm pulled behind him by a man that I recognized as Yoongi, he had his hand over Taehyung’s mouth. I hid in the hallway to prevent myself from being spotted by the others.
“Where is she?” Jimin asked angrily.
“I don’t know, she left this morning- ouch!” Jungkook started before Jimin pulled Jungkook’s further.
“Bullshit, she’s here, I can smell more sulfur, now where is she?” A booming voice asked.
“Ah gross, he licked my hand!” Another screamed.
I had to hold in my laughter because Taehyung finally learned something from me.
“Deal with it bitch.” Taehyung said.
Okay he needs to watch his mouth; they might just kill him there. I peeked out to see if I would be seen if I move, there was one right by the entrance to the hallway, he wouldn’t be able to see me. The others would only be able to see me if they looked over in my direction, it was then I pulled something very stupid. I switched sides, I went to the ran out and hit the one that I knew as Hoseok with the curtain rod. It staggered him momentarily, but before I could try to hit him again he put me in the same positon as Taehyung.
“There’s the little princess we’ve been looking for.”
Hoseok took his hand off my mouth because he remembered the last time he did it; it wasn’t fun for him.
“Oh look it’s a prick named Namjoon.” I retorted.
“Put your hand over her mouth, what are you doing?” Namjoon asked angrily.
“No, she’s the reason I’m missing my middle finger on this hand.” Hoseok said.
“How’s life without that by the way?” I asked in a smart ass tone.
“If you won’t, then hand her over.” Namjoon sighed angrily.
Hoseok pushed me off of him and I landed on the floor because of the sudden push. Namjoon picked me up by my arm and put me in the same position again, but with his hand over my mouth, and you better believe I was going to try to bite his god damned finger off.
“See I’m fine, she’s angry, but she’s not going to hurt me.” Namjoon said in a somewhat creepy way.
Jungkook saw the look in my eyes, and smirked a bit.
“What’s so funny ass wipe?” Jimin asked.
“Just watch.” Jungkook sniggered.
That’s when I bit down on Namjoon’s pinky and because of powers I severed it from his hand.
“You fucking bitch!” Namjoon screamed in pain.
I was shoved to the floor by Namjoon so he could go find something to cover his bleeding hand.
“I told you she bites dude!” Hoseok exclaimed.
“Shut up, Jimin, get us back to headquarters, we’ve got some bitches to burn.” Namjoon said as he wrapped a washcloth around his hand.
Yoongi walked over to me and picked me up, they linked arms with each other and Jimin smoked us to Syndicate’s headquarters. It was just as I remembered, dark and prison like. The men lead us to one large cell, the ones holding us throw us into the cell, Yoongi stays in there to handcuff us to the wall, when the shackles were on I knew we the end was near. The door to the cell was slammed and locked as Yoongi walked away. Jimin and Yoongi sat on crates in front of the cell and they started talking to each other, but because I’m mouthy, I decided it was a good idea to bitch out Jimin.
“You know Jimin, you must have been born on the highway because that’s where most accidents happen.”
“Excuse me?” Jimin asked.
“You heard me bitch tits.” I said.
“Well Y/N, I think you need to go check up on eBay and see if they have a life for sale.” He retorted.
“Says the man who was supposed to be my best friend, says the man who has worked at a fucking café for seven years because he thought it was cute, says the man who hit his face on the toilet as an adult because the same man forgot to clean up his water mess from his bubble bath with a gigantic rubber duck.”
“You said you wouldn’t say anything about that!” Jimin exclaimed angrily.
“Oh it’s coming out now, you ratted me out, time to rat you out. Karmas a bitch isn’t Jimin?” I asked cockily.
Jimin huffed and stopped listening to me rant and rave at him, I eventually stopped after I ran out of dirt to spill on Jimin. Both Jungkook and Taehyung learned a lot about Jimin in a span of 15 minutes. I was almost surprised that Yoongi didn’t tell me to shut up, but I’, sure it entertained him as well because I caught him laughing a few times. We sat there for hours, Taehyung fell asleep when Hoseok replaced Yoongi’s spot, and because I can’t stay still my shackles had cut into my wrists and there was dried blood all down my arms, it obviously hurt because I had open wounds, but what made it worse was Jungkook accidentally bumping into me while simultaneously trying to break out of his shackles, his arms are looking worse than mine at this point. There was more sitting around after that, but both Jungkook and I were too exhausted to even try to break out of the shackles anymore, we wasted our energy on trying to break free. Right when I was about to fall asleep the cell door was opened and my hands were released from the shackles. I looked up to see who it was, I recognized him. Jungkook only knew him as the guy who caught us when we first started spying on Jimin, but he was Jin. He was the nicest one of the bunch, he had his moments, he could be scary at times, mainly when he’s angry or in a killing mood, but other times he was nice, he’d actually talk to me, well at least that’s what he was like last time. Jin had laid me down on the floor and he had a bucket and a clean white washcloth in hand. He got down on his knees and started cleaning my arms up.
“Hello again Jin.” I said tiredly.
“I knew it was you the other day, you’re lucky I like you and didn’t rat you out before your little raven friend.” He said.
“I figured you did.” I said.
“So who’s the kid that Jimin was pinning to the floor?” He asked as he started wrapping my arms up in bandages.
“Since I know how this works and that I’ll most likely be dead tomorrow, he’s Jungkook, he’s my boyfriend.” I answered.
“As in Jeon Jungkook, the Jeon Jungkook, the same one who has witch hunter parents, and was going to become a witch hunter before he disappeared off the face of the fucking Earth?” Jin asked with a laugh.
“What?” I asked.
“If he’s your boyfriend, was he using you to kill you?” Jin asked.
“No, I got turned into a witch, you can shut the fuck up Jin.” Jungkook said angrily.
I went silent and rolled over on to my side, I didn’t want to look at Jungkook, I couldn’t believe he was going to be a witch hunter.
“Would you look at that, she’s mad at you, beautiful.” Jin said.
Jin cleaned up Jungkook’s arms even though the entire time he was helping he was slandering Jungkook. I rolled over suddenly to look at Jungkook.
“Were you using Yuri to kill her?” I asked.
“There’s no point in lying, yes, I was, I didn’t think she would turn me into a god damned witch.” He said.
“You lied to me.” I said slowly.
“I didn’t.” Jungkook said.
“You said you didn’t know she was a witch, you lied.” I said angrily.
“Did you ever think I didn’t want to scare you, you were a nice person who was taking me in and how was I supposed to tell you that I was going to be a witch hunter, how was I going to tell you I was going to kill a witch?” He exclaimed.
“I wouldn’t have cared if you told me the truth, I don’t think you realize that I’m not afraid of anything, I wouldn’t have been afraid of you, I would have understood you better when we met, do you realize how much easier this would have been on all of us?” I asked.
I had tears streaming down my face at this point, and Jungkook was trying to get himself near me to really talk to me, but I wouldn’t allow it, I ended up hiding behind Tae after Jin got him down. Taehyung had woken up just before Jungkook and I started fighting, he heard everything that was said between us.
“You two need some time to think. Jungkook, go sit in the corner over there. Y/N, you just stay here, you’ll be fine here.” Taehyung said.
“Oh come on it was getting good!” Jin whined.
“Jin, shut the fuck up.” I said angrily.
Jin scoffed and walked out of the cell. Namjoon was now on watch with Jimin, he was facing us and he beckoned me to get closer.
“I’m not getting closer to you, and I wouldn’t recommend you get closer to me, especially if you don’t want to lose another finger.” I said as I crossed my arms.
“Fine we’ll talk from here. Little girl-.” He said before I cut him off.
“Namjoon, don’t call me that, you’re not my boyfriend, I may be mad at Jungkook right now, but that doesn’t make it okay for you to start using pet names with me.” I said.
“Whatever. I’m just putting this out there, you’re definitely not coming back this time.” Namjoon said.
“What makes you say that, I don’t know if you remember, but we can reincarnate dumbass.” I said.
“Oh I know this; I’m just going to make sure you don’t come back this time.” He answered with a smirk.
I just scoffed and laid down on the floor and let some of my anger go away. I knew that Taehyung had brought Jungkook over to me, and I felt how awkward Jungkook was about trying to comfort me, and he was profusely apologizing to me mentally, I mean I ended up forgiving him because now isn’t really the time to be angry with him. We were quiet for a while, but I caught attention to Namjoon and Jimin’s conversation.
“Namjoon, I’d like to thank you for protecting me during this, I’m glad I could help you.” Jimin said sweetly.
“Oh yeah, about that.” Namjoon said.
Jimin looked up in confusion before Namjoon pushed him to the floor, I don’t think I’ve seen Jimin so scared before. I moved a bit to see what happened to him, and it seemed to have caught Jungkook’s attention too.
“It’s been nice knowing you Jimin.” Namjoon said with a dark chuckle.
Namjoon put some sort of liquid on Jimin and the next thing I knew, Jimin was on fire. He was screaming in pain, even though he did sell us out I felt bad about it, it left me shook up, I was clinging on to Jungkook in fear. Jungkook just blocked my sight and kept kissing the crown of my head until Jimin stopped screaming, he didn’t even stop after that, he stroked my hair and rubbed my back until I fell asleep, he was making up to me one last time before D-Day.

Axial Tilt
I’m aware this is bad, have it anyway.
AO3
Summary: The Mountain Men get to them first.
~~~
From the moment you woke up on the dropship, everything is different. Wells is at your side for the first time in almost a year, you are out of solitary, and you are strapped into a massive machine hurtling towards Earth that could explode in the air, on impact, or maybe once you hit the atmosphere.
Like most change in your life, this isn’t a good one.
Any moment now your whole life could end as a flaming pancake.
And your former best friend who was the reason you are here would be right next to you.
Pancake and on fire just the same.
/
You’re not a pancake and neither is Wells. No one is. A few kids die on impact, but that was from their own stupidity. If you unbuckle your seatbelt in a hunk of metal careening towards Earth before impact, you deserve what you get.
The hundred of you gather near the door and debate for a long moment about going out. You are decidedly against it; the impact is one thing but the ground isn’t survivable yet, but Bellamy Blake and his sister Octavia laugh and then you’re outside and it’s beautiful.
It’s very likely that you’ve drawn the ground as you’ve imagined it more than one hundred times and clearly you’ve never gotten it quite right. The real thing is that much more colorful, that much more full and wild, and that much more unpredictable, if the hissing canisters thrown into the clearing are any indication.
No one remembers what happens next.
//
The room you wake up to is stark white. You feel entirely disoriented, because this doesn’t feel as foreign as it should, but you’re on the ground. You frown because, well, you thought you were. There’s a painting on the wall that you once saw on a tablet and everything goes a little off-filter. How could that have survived the bombs, but the rest of society didn’t?
A knock on the door startles you. You quickly find something - a blunt object - and have it ready. There’s an old man’s face in the door’s porthole that attempts to look kind and approachable. You find a sharpness that you don’t trust.
“Hello,” he greets as he carefully opens the door, “I’m President Dante Wallace. What’s your name?” He’s wearing a really old suit that’s covered in sweat lines which only add to your ill feeling of him. You don’t lower the - you glance to your hands - lamp as you answer him.
“Clarke Griffin. Where am I? Where’s everyone else?” Your grip on the lamp tightens as his smile softens (mechanically, you think).
“It is an absolute pleasure to meet you, Ms. Griffin. All of your friends are in rooms exactly like this, finishing their decontamination, just like you. Welcome to Mount Weather” Mount Weather. You...made it? Mount Weather was just a point on a map, maybe containing some old irradiated supplies. There weren’t supposed to be people living inside. You don’t know what to say. “Please excuse me, but there are a lot of you and I have to continue meeting your people. Maya will be in shortly with some clothes for you. Make yourself at home” Dante smiles again and bows out of the door.
Why does this make your stomach turn?
///
The next few weeks are...weird. You and the rest of the hundred come to live in a dorm with beds stacked high on top of one another, in clothes marked by 100 of stains, and too-rich food that your stomach can’t handle. The people are eager to make friends and bring you into their society. Even your own people jump right in. A boy named Jasper takes a liking to Maya (which you get, because Maya is pretty and the nicest person).
Finn - who you slowly became friends with - shares your sentiment. He’s gotten some weird questions from random people about his blood type and he got hives from bumping into Cage Wallace, Dante’s son, on one occasion.
Things only got weirder at the breach.
A bunch of the hundred were attending a class with natives when the teacher stopped mid word and started choking. A bunch of students followed suit and yet, none of the hundred were affected. Wells had been there, and though your truce is shaky, he doesn’t hesitate to explain the effects of radiation poisoning.
But the next day, you look up from your breakfast and there’s one of the kids who was definitely in that class, perfectly fine and already chowing down on his food. Finn and Wells look equally confused and alarmed. So you go to the source.
“Dante,” he looks up from his computer with that same calm expression you’d love to kick, “how did those people heal so quick?” you demand.
“Unfortunately, we who live in the Mountain are susceptible to radiation. Thankfully, we’ve had years and decades to develop a way to help us survive. It is very advanced science that I’m not sure even I follow” He almost looks sincere.
“I’m immune, I’d like to leave” His smile gets sharper and he closes the computer.
“I’m afraid I can’t let you. That would require opening airlocks that can only be used to supply gathering and especially with the savages outside, I wouldn’t feel comfortable with your safety at such a risk” That was new information.
“‘Savages’? There are people out there?” He nods solemnly.
“Yes, people - though, it’s hard to really call them people - who became deranged from radiation and who spend their days killing one another. That is one of the reasons Mount Weather is a fortress. We cannot allow them to hurt us, especially since they are likely too wild to know what they are doing” You smell the bullshit again.
“In that case, thank you for taking us in before they could get to us” His grin grows ever sharper.
“Our pleasure” If that doesn’t make your status as prisoners definitive, you don’t know what does.
////
Monty, maybe the nicest boy on the entire dropship, tugs at your sleeve on the way back to the dorm after dinner. He doesn’t make eye contact.
“The transfusion IVs led up into the ceiling” he says before stepping up his pace and matching Miller’s speed a few feet ahead. It’s a baffling interaction, sure, but you get the message. You slip off to a restricted area and take the elevator as high up as it will go.
The absolute last thing you expect to see when the doors open is a near-naked woman hanging limply by her feet.
Her heart monitor beeps infrequently but proves she’s still alive. You lose your head for a half second and swat at the lever to lower her to the floor. Her back tattoo curves more and more the lower she gets. You drop to your knees and try to remember everything your mom taught you about dealing with unconscious people.
Dull eyes stare back at you and you’re breathless. The woman’s face is sharp and you can already see her gearing up for an offensive, so you lean back on your heels away from her and raise your hands defensively.
“Hey, hey, I’m not going to hurt you. I’m a prisoner here just like you” Her eyes narrow and glance down at herself, then back to you.
“Just like me?” she scoffs.
“Why are you up here like this? Did you have some sort of crime?” You carefully reach out and help prop her back up against the wall. She laughs.
“My crime is being born outside of these walls. All of us are” Only then do you realize that there’s more to this room than the bleeding post. There are countless cages as far back as you can see and each of them has a person stripped and crammed inside. Your heart clenches painfully in your chest.
“How can I help you?” She frowns and stares at you for a long moment. She seems to be considering you, deciding if you’re worthy. She must find something because she straightens a little.
“What is your name?” she asks.
“Clarke Griffin. You?”
“I am Anya. To help me and everyone here, I need to get to the Commander. I need to get out and it must be me” You nod.
“Stay alive for a half hour, I’ll be right back”
/////
You’re not...completely sure how you managed to get out. You know you fidgeted in the elevator the whole ride down fearing you’d get caught and that Monty slipped you some kind of communication device along with a promise to help you any way he can.
Finn and Wells look baffled as you beg them for some kind of internal diversion, that is until Wells shrugs and slugs Finn across the face. You think you see them both give you a thumbs up from the bottom of the guard pile that you know will only get crowded from the rest of the hundred, but you’re not sure, and you have other things to worry about.
There’s definitely a part where you and Anya are being chased and there’s a waterfall and then she’s ripping something out of her arm with her teeth. A lot happens in a short space so you don’t give yourself a hard time that you don’t remember everything.
So naturally it’s completely understandable that you never see the rock Anya smashes into your head.
//////
You wake up with your arms and legs tied and Anya’s shoulder in your stomach. Before you can do much about it, you pass out again.
///////
The sun is low in the sky by the time you’re fully conscious and able to stay that way. Every one of Anya’s steps is labored and you’ve suggested she let you walk more than once, after all you’re not going to run away, you need to see the Commander too. She merely growls and you don’t offer again.
For a long time, you let yourself do what you never had time to when you first landed, you take in the ground (discounting the fact that it’s all you can see). You immediately love the way it smells. It has a freshness that you’ve never smelled with the cleanliness of rain, the tanginess of the leaves releasing all kinds of chemicals you looked at in earth studies, and the leaves Anya churns up with her shuffling steps also kick up the faint musk of decay. You’re addicted.
Eventually, your ‘captor’ stumbles, crashing you both to the ground. The groans that follow are loud, but neither of you really make any attempt to shift, from exhaustion and disorientation. The voice - when it speaks - shocks you.
“Chit osir gada hir in?” a man said suddenly. You start and do your best to flip over, but Anya only groans again.
“Shof op” she mumbles. The man is tall, dark, and handsome. His mohawk is cut low making his (again) sharp eyes stand out more, but the bottom half of his face is obscured by a bandana. His clothes are an eclectic mix of things, but still make the statement of ‘warm and protected’, though, the sword strapped to his back helps with that too.
“Who are you?” you can’t help but ask. Those eyes find you and you freeze. They’re much sharper when they’re pinned on you.
“Everyone here who needs to know who I am does, but who are you?” He crouches beside your head, eyes blazing with curiosity.
“I’m Clarke Griffin. Me and one hundred other kids were in the giant metal thing that fell from the sky and now all of my people and many of yours’ are trapped in Mount Weather” His face goes tight at the mention of the mountain and he glances back to Anya for a moment.
“This is the truth?” he asks. You’re not sure who he’s asking, but you nod anyway. After a moment of deliberation, he nods as well. “Well Clarke Griffin, since you brought my friend back to the world of the living, my name is Lincoln” He slashes easily at the vine the binds your feet and lifts Anya into his arms like it’s nothing. You follow because what else are you going to do?
////////
It’s a grounder village. An honest-to-god village with people like Anya and Lincoln who aren’t hopelessly deformed or violent like you half expected. Everyone is mostly normal and they all stare at you with an open mix of horror, fear, and fascination. The buildings are clear remnants of a time long gone crossed with far more primitive looking building design, but it’s charming in a way you’d never experienced. You want to sketch it all.
Lincoln walks through the entirety of the village unbothered, Anya attempting to look scary and unapproachable while being carried by (what you assume is) her friend. The three of you clear the village into (what you assume is) a war camp. Hefty men and gnarly women glare at you, their weapons gleaming. You follow Lincoln’s example and try to look as unbothered as possible. It’s a lie though, you’re very bothered.
He stops just outside the largest tent in the camp and an even larger man with a face tattoo and a bushy beard stands before him.
“Heda will want to see Anya before the healer. And she will want to see the girl” he announces confidently. The man frowns at you before nodding and stepping aside. The minute you step inside the tent, your whole world tilts on its axis.
The girl sitting on the large intimidating throne is as young as you are, but her face is smeared with black warpaint and there is a knife in her hand and a sword at her side. Her face is set with a seriousness you could never match.
And yet, all you can think about is how beautiful she is. There’s something delicate about her, easily missed but impossible to forget. You think then that she’s ruined you for women. Possibly for anyone.
Lincoln falls to his knee, setting Anya carefully down on the ground just as the girl springs to her feet, eyes wide at the sight of the pimp woman. She doesn’t move to touch her.
“I have returned from the dead to fulfill my duty to the Commander” Anya declares with a fist to her heart. or a breath, the girl seems stunned. Then, gorgeously, she grins, before choking it back to a thin lipped smile.
“Your Commander thanks you. Once I received word that you’d been lost to the Mountain, I-” she stops, breathes, “I was worried. I’m glad to see my mentor whole and returned” Anya shrugs.
“Mostly whole, thanks to her” she jerks her head in your direction and you feel your world tilt just a little more. Her eyes are green. They swallow you whole and feast of the way your heart stutters relentlessly in your chest. She must know, she must be able to see the way she’s just changed everything for you. She folds her hands behind her back.
“And you are?” Her voice is heavy and carries a weight across the small space, when before it was light, almost gentle in the way she greeted her friend.
“Clarke. Clarke Griffin. The Mountain has my people too” Her eyebrow twitches up in surprise.
“Your people? Who might they be?” You can hear the challenge, you’re not stupid. Your spine straightens almost involuntarily and you stiffen your jaw.
“My people are a bunch of kids who’ve never known anything but the whir of engines. My people were born in the stars. My people were scared when they were stuffed into a rocket and launched down to the ground with no expectation of survival. We were barely on the ground for a full minute before were all knocked out and told we were guests when we were really prisoners” Your own conviction surprises you, but it’s not as if what you said was a lie. The hundred, whether they said it or not, were scared. The girl looks mildly impressed.
“Well then Clarke kom Skaikru, what do you want?”
/////////
You’ve drawn the maps to the best of your ability and Anya’s added her own bits of information. Monty even came through by responding to her radio call and getting information she’d missed. The Commander - Lexa, Anya mentioned - is nothing if not thorough.
She asks question after question, interspersed by the silence of careful consideration. She demands clarification for every line drawn and every approximate distance. She is relentless.
And you love it.
You love the way her eyes shine in her single-mindedness. You love the way she listens to the words of her advisors and alters her plans accordingly. You love how still she stands, like she doesn’t have the energy to spare for fidgeting over brainpower. You love the way you can only tell she hates an idea when she closes her eyes slightly too long for a blink.
You think Anya notices with the way she watches you like a hawk. She’s responsible for what happens to you after all, they’ll need someone to blame if it turns out you’re a spy. Honestly, you get it. But you don’t need Anya to nudge you with her foot every time she catches you staring. You don’t need it.
It’s also incredibly distracting (which, the nudging or the Commander? the world may never know), so you greedily take the time to look at the maps and plans on your own after dinner. The silence is comforting. On the Ark, there was a constant hum, clank, or tapping telling you the ship was still trying to keep you alive. There is none of that on the ground and your heart could burst with how much that makes you feel.
But so could the presence of the Commander as she quietly slips into the tent. She seems softer with her face clean of warpaint and her shoulders free of most armor and weapons. You want to touch her, to feel the difference between the Commander and the girl underneath.
“Good evening” she says gently as she approaches the table.
“Hi” She comes to a stop beside you and you realize just how bizarre this is. No one is 100 percent sold on the fact that you’re not a spy yet, so the fact that she decided to enter a space alone with you is indicative to the fact that she has decided. You hope the lack of weapons means she’s decided you’re not.
“You should get some rest. We have done as much planning as can be achieved tonight. There will be more to do tomorrow and you must be in peak condition for it” she smiles softly at you and there goes your heart again. You clear your throat awkwardly.
“I will, I just want to make sure I’m not misremembering something. It could get someone killed” You re-measure a passageway and nod when you find it correct. She hums beside you and lays her hand on top of yours to still it.
“Yes, but if you do it while you are exhausted, you will certainly make a mistake” She is very close. Close enough that you wonder if she feels the ground shifting beneath her feet too. If she thinks the sky is a slightly different shade of blue as well.
Her hand squeezes yours.
//////////
The next week is nothing but debates, worry, staring at Lexa from across the room, and then finding yourself somehow alone with her. The gentle touches keep happening and it’s so easy to get lost in the way her eyes fond yours. Even when she catches herself , frowns, and shakes herself out of the affection, you know that what she feels for you is deeper than she’s letting herself feel.
It makes the tips of your toes and fingers tingle.
However, while it may be a constant in your mind, it is also constantly in the background. Monty tries to report in every day and things are getting worse. Your people have fully realized their status and things are growing more tense with the discovery that some of them have gone missing. The whole war room tenses at that and you chance a look to Anya, knowing exactly where it is they likely went.
Lexa lifts her chin and makes eye contact with everyone there, eyes steely. Then, she nods. You double down.
///////////
“Excuse me” Lexa barely announces herself before entering your small tent. You’re just about to pull on the last of your new armor and you’re glad she didn’t come in ten minutes ago when you were still mostly naked.
“Come in” you tell her, grabbing the shoulder guard.
“Are you ready?” Lexa’s hands are latched together behind her back as her eyes roam the small tent.
“Nearly,” you answer, “I’m just getting the last few pieces on” You pull the strap tight across your chest and move the latch into place. Now just the grieves.
“I was referring to your mental state” Lexa says as she reaches out for your second grieve. You pull the first tight and she gestures for you to hold our your free arm. As she laces it to your wrist, you have a free moment to just stare at the long lines of her face. Even now, after a week, you can’t help but be awed by her beauty.
“I’m about to go lay siege to a mountain fortress. How ready can I be?” She laughs and looks up.
“Well, I must say, you certainly look the part” She barely skims the rest of you before settling on your eyes. Something feels fundamentally different about this conversation. Every other time you’ve spoken, she’s shaken herself from the look she’s giving you now. The fact that she’s letting herself be here now eliminates any kind of mind-to-body filter and you reach out to pull her close by the back of her neck.
The kiss is still until she fully registers what you’ve done, and then she dives in, her hands clutching your waist and your jaw. The impending battle looks over you and the kiss reflects it, a hint of bite and desperation in each slide of lips or soft moan. You feel her tongue and you can’t help but hold her tighter because frankly, you may never have this again, and as unacceptable as that is, you almost expect it.
She carefully detaches from you, leaving her hands where they are, but allowing her thumb to gently brush the baby hairs away from your hairline. You revel in it. She kisses you again, barely there, but memorable in a different way than your first.
And then you march to war.
////////////
Like leaving Mount Weather, you barely remember breaking in, just that you do and everything is in chaos. You know you find Monty and there’s Octavia fighting alongside Lincoln (how neat is that?) and you find a way upstairs to free the caged grounders who all immediately join in the fight, despite their weakened states.
It’s a bloodbath. The Mountain Men never really stood a chance.
The swords and radiation make for a truly lethal combination that you and Lexa could only have dreamed of. Somehow, the entire plan goes off without a hitch and Dante and Cage Wallace are on their knees in front of Lexa. They clearly have no interest in working with her, the grounders, or the hundred (down a few, but you’ll have to do a headcount at a more convenient time). So she gives them a leaders’ death.
Their heads roll on the ground moments after she whips her sword from the scabbard.
/////////////
The war camp seems much more - well, is - crowded than before. There is an influx of more than one hundred and fifty people and there is not really enough space for everyone. The village - Ton DC, you’d come to learn - helps in every way it possibly can, but there is only such many people they can support.
You hear some of the grounders who were in cages talk excitedly about going home, about the lives they were stolen from and even though you keep thinking about the people you killed and the loose heads of the Wallaces, your heart feels lighter.
Lexa finds you watching the fire after the celebratory feast and sits silently next to you. It’s been almost ten minutes and you’re beginning to wonder if she’s actually going to to talk at all when she finally opens her mouth.
“You did well today. Thank you for bringing Anya back to me. She was my mentor when I was a child, I see her as an older sister and losing her would have been-” she swallows, “-distressing” You take her hand in yours, damn the people around you.
“I get it. I’m glad we could help all these people” Lexa smiles and nods.
“Yes. It was a good thing, even if it was hard” You squeeze lightly and the two of you get lost in the flickering fire. You watch it rise and fall, swallowing whole the pieces of wood that are tossed in to keep it alive. It’s captivating and you think you’d be content to sit here with Lexa for the foreseeable future. “What do you and your people plan on doing?” She breaks the silence much easier than you do. You shrug.
“Stay here? Assimilate? Most of us don’t have trades” Lexa nods slowly as she considers your answer.
“Are you set on staying here?”
“I don’t know anywhere else” you admit. You were on the dropship, then you were in Mount Weather, and then Anya carried you to Ton DC. You never saw the bits in between.
“Come to Polis with me. It’s our capitol. I live there. I feel that you will really be able to learn about my people there. Her eyes shift from your eyes, to your lips, and then back up to your eyes. Her hand feels tight and tense in yours, so you massage it, careful to find any knots and smooth them out.
“I think I could be open to that” She grins and your world tilts on its axis just a bit more.
It’s Morphin’ Time!  Eventually... Power Rangers Review
Tumblr media
Saban’s Power Rangers opens darkly.  You see a blasted torn up landscape of prehistoric Earth with the Red Ranger dragging himself across it, obviously injured.  He crawls to the Yellow Ranger, also lying prone who morphs into an alien and hands her coin to him, telling him to hide it before dying in his arms.  Yikes.  He morphs into Zordon (Bryan Cranston) and puts his coin with the others he’s carrying, instructing Alpha via communicator to fire a meteorite at his current location.  He turns to find himself face to face with a female Green Ranger named Rita (Elizabeth Banks) who he accuses of being a traitor and killing his team.  She boasts that she’s won when Zordon informs her it’s too late and a meteor comes crashing down on them sending her to the bottom of the sea.  Also wiping out the dinosaurs, I presume.  I guess nuking from orbit was the only way to be sure. Smash cut to a bunch of jocks leading a bull into a locker room as a prank and we meet Jason Scott (Dacre Montgomery) who informs us that he calmed the cow down by milking it.  Womp womp.  Your protagonist can’t tell an udder from a dong, not a great start.  The cops show up and after the most nausea inducing go-pro car chase I’ve ever encountered (Seriously, I saw Gravity on the UltraScreen in 3D and this almost made me vomit) he gets in a horrific wreck and we have a title screen. Go go Power Rangers?  If you never watched the show this may seem exciting.  If you did, well here’s why it might not be what you were expecting.
 Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers hit children in 1993 with a blast of popularity that overpowered the Ninja Turtles and kept kids riveted until Pokemon came along at the end of the decade!  A Japanese import, it was cheesy, silly, campy and formulaic and pre-teens ate it up!  As well as some teens.  I was just hitting the age where I felt like I was outgrowing Saturday morning/after school shows (Thank God that phase didn’t last) so I was never a die hard fan, but I knew enough people that were that I kept abreast of the original shows run.  I watched a fair number of episodes with my friends more due to our love of riffing it a la Mystery Science Theater 3000 than anything else…  Although I will admit that Kimberly (Amy Jo Johnson)  kept me on board a bit as well.  The premise was simple.  Five teenagers from Angel Grove are given magic coins that allow them to morph into Power Rangers.  Spandex clad ninjas with full coverage helmets who can summon robot dinosaurs called Zords and merge them Voltron style into a giant Mega Zord to win the day.  They answer to Zordon, a giant holographic head, and fight the monsters that Rita Repulsa repeatedly sends down from the moon.  Ninjas, dinosaurs and giant robots.  It was famous for the obvious cut between the American actors doing their day to day thing and the original Japanese footage being used once they were in costume.  Ever wonder why Kimberly was the only Ranger wearing a skirt?  Because the Yellow Ranger in that Japanese footage is a dude.  (The more you know!)  That’s all you needed and it’s still on the air in some iteration to this day!  Why mess with a good thing?  If it’s not broke, right?
 Unfortunately Hollywood is following a current and overused trend of trying to make things dark and gritty when they reboot them right now.  That’s not to say it can’t work, but it really feels like a forced excutive decision by the movie companies some times.  This new Power Rangers update has a lot of things that work really well for it as they try to make a serious and less campy approach to one of the most popular cheese fests ever.  They also make some big missteps.  I know that Zordon famously asked for “teenagers with attitude” in the original and wound up with the nicest kids in town, but this version makes an over correction by having three of them meet in detention and one of them just not go to school at all.  Turns out Jason has to wear an ankle bracelet now and report to detention for the rest of the year and lost all sorts of football scholarships.  As soon as he walks in he sees Billy (RJ Cyler) being bullied for OCD behavior arranging things on his desk.  Jason puts a stop to it and Billy immediately declares him his new best friend for sticking up for him!  I really liked Billy in this movie, but they make a very clear point early on to have him state that he’s on the autism spectrum and they play it pretty well until he becomes a Ranger.  Then it just seems to disappear and he’s merely giddy all the time.  He’s adorkable, sure, and probably the most likeable character but it would have been nice to see them stick to his spectrum tendencies.  Jason is fairly dismissive until he offers to use his skills to hack Jason’s ankle bracelet in order for them to hang out.  How all true friendships begin!
 Next we meet Kimberly Heart (Naomi Scott) who was set up by her cheerleader ‘friends’ for an incriminating picture that’s been circulating around school and they show up to inform her that she no longer gets to be a plastic.  It makes her so angry that she gives herself a kicky new haircut in the bathroom that Jason is immediately smitten by when she returns from the restroom!  After Billy hacks the ankle device, he and Jason go into a restricted area of the gold mine outside Angel Grove because apparently Billy likes to blast there.  Even though it’s an active mine with security.  Shrug  While Billy is setting his charges, Jason goes off to hike around and spies Kimberly cliff diving while We get Zack (Ludi Lin) and Trini (Becky G.) dropped in as just random kids who are also hanging out in an active work zone after dark.  Her to practice her Karate Kid poses and him to watch her through binoculars.  Like you do.  Anyway, Billy’s blast draws them all and they discover 5 glowing coins embedded in the rock.  After cutting them out, they each grab one and then alarms go off, summoning security and another slightly less vomit inducing chase that AGAIN ends in a horrific crash, this time with a train.  The next morning they all wake up at home with no injuries and no knowledge of how they survived the wreck, plus sick abs and super strength!  Wanna know how they managed that without being seen?  Or what Billy’s mom’s reaction is to the destruction of HER van?  (You see the wreck later on being pulled off the tracks)  You’re out of luck!  Anyway, they get together and decide to go back to try to find answers about the coins and discover a buried spaceship manned by Alpha 5 (Bill Hader) and Zordon’s memory in the ship’s computer.  He informs them that they’re the Power Rangers and they need to learn to defend the universe once they can learn to morph!  Eventually…
 I don’t know if it came with the casting of Bryan Cranston but the biggest drawback of this film is that at 2 hours almost every minute of the Rangers suited up has been shown in the trailers because it only happens in the films final action scene, similar to my beef with Godzilla not having enough Godzilla.  There are training montages aplenty and I really did appreciate the effort it made to give the core cast some substance behind there characters that wasn’t there before, but it’s pace could best be described as deliberate.  The film seems to work the best when it’s trying to have some fun and not brooding so much, which is all too often.  The scene of all the nerd kids idolizing Billy after he knocks out a bully without trying and then being in awe when he gets pulled from the table by Kimberly?  Great!  Fun little scene, use more moments like that as opposed to repeated instances of people mispronouncing Trini as DeeDee.  ???  I assume it’s a joke but I just don’t get it and boy do they keep pushing it.  I wish they had done more with Zack as he had a lot of potential in his backstory.  He doesn’t attend school any more because you find out he’s caring for his terminally ill mother but aside from that reveal he just gets all the “I’m gonna shout quips!” style lines.  Don’t try taking a drink every time he calls Trini “Crazy Girl”, it won’t end well.  Jason is fine in his role as the leader, but as is the curse of the leader role (Cyclops, Leonardo), is pretty bland.  Kimberly and Trini are both solid female role models although I wish they would have come right out with Trini’s sexuality/crush on Kimberly rather than just heavily alluding to it.  Although I was disappointed by him dropping the autism traits halfway through, I thought Billy in the second half was the most relatable character.  He’s just so giddy every time they bring up the fact they get to be Rangers!
 I was not a fan of the design choices for Alpha and the Zords.  Alpha was thankfully less obnoxious than the original, but his super long arms on the tiny body just looked weird and creepy.  Props to Hader for making me not hate him!  The Zords…  I couldn’t tell what I was looking at.  I’ll be honest, aside from the T-Rex and the Pterodactyl they could have been anything.  I had to go online after the movie because I couldn’t remember if the Triceratops was Blue or Black because I couldn’t tell them apart.  Turns out it’s Blue.  For as many montages as we were dealt and given the movies run time, I’d have preferred to see them learning their suits and Zords right off the bat as opposed to trying and failing to Morph a half dozen times and then finally getting it right just in time for the final battle where they go in operating things they’ve never used before.  I know I’m overthinking it, but I hate when people just innately know how to use things like that.
 Lastly we come to the villains.  I’ve got really mixed feelings on this part.  I appreciate they wanted to take it more seriously, and I like what they did with Rita but DAMN.  They may have made her a bit too intense for the audience that’s generally associated with Power Rangers!  Banks is great and and she is wonderfully creepy and terrifying but there is a scene where she’s killed some police officers and you see that she’s ripped the teeth out of one and has dismembered/is CANNIBALIZING the other.  This is while she’s still in her slightly mummified state after a fishing boat pulls up her body and it’s horror movie levels of creepy as she gets her power back to create Goldar.  Because he’s made of gold, see?  I don’t quite get her power set because at first she’s brutally murdering people for their gold, then eating it (WTF?) then just pointing at it and drawing it to her in liquid form.  At least she gets to say “Make my monster grow.”
 Overall, it’s not bad.  It’s not as action packed as you’d expect, but what references do show up are all well placed and fun.  You get some cameos and throwback lines.  Ay-yi-yi and what not.  My favorite reference was when two boys were arguing who got to be the Red Ranger while they’re playing and Trini tells them, “Why not Yellow?”  “That’s a girl!”  “How do you know?”  lol  Love the message and the nod to the original Yellow I mentioned earlier, but unfortunately undercut by the obvious sculpted boob armor on Pink and Yellow…  Best moment, bar none, was when they played the original theme.  Unfortunately it’s just one refrain then back to generic orchestration, but the theater I was in was electrified when it came on!  I’m not made of stone, that riff is freaking amazing.  You could tell everyone was a bit bummed when it didn’t continue throughout the fight.  As usual anymore, stay through the credits.  There’s a mid credit scene that I’m pretty sure you’ll be able to call before it happens but it’s there.  LOL at the guys behind me talking loudly throughout the film complaining about the very thing the scene was about and leaving before it happened.  That’s what you get for being terrible movie attendants!  If you were a fan of the show as a kid, I think you’ll have a great time!  If you’re bringing your kids because of how much YOU loved it…  Just be aware it gets really dark and creepy in places and might move a bit slow if they have to wait over 90 minutes to see any Morphin’ Time.
My Week in Israel
Most students go home to work, catch up with friends and family, and relax over their winter breaks from college. I did all of those things, but not every student has a chance to go over seas on a free trip. I am Jewish, and therefore I have the birthright to visit my homeland of Israel.
In October 2016, my older sister and I began our application process with URJ Kesher, and in November it was confirmed that we were accepted to go on our birthright trip.
DAY ONE:
We flew out of JFK International Airport on Sunday, January 15th at 10:50 pm, and landed in Israel at 4 pm. Thirty-two Americans waited for their tour-guide. We were also greeted by Israeli soldiers, who I initially thought would be with us for extra protection. This was not the case.
The eight Israelis were there to experience birthright with us. They each got a week off from the army to go on this journey with us. A lot of people have preconceived notions about what Israel is like. I felt completely safe the whole time. We had a security guard with us the whole time, and he was one of the nicest people I have ever met. There aren’t bombs going off every second, and there aren’t military people walking the streets with guns. In fact, if you didn’t know that Israel was in a controversial area of the world, you would think it was one of the most peaceful places on Earth.
The weather was gorgeous the entire time, or at least I thought so. I am originally from Boston, so going from 20 degree weather to 60 degree weather made it feel like Spring time. This was cold for the Israelis, and for some of the Americans who were from down south/the west.
The first three days were jam packed. We had a lot to cover in seven days. The first night we did a lot of stuff to get to know one another, that I was expecting.
DAY TWO:
The next morning we were up early, and we wouldn’t be returning to a hotel until two days later. The food for breakfast was interesting. There was pasta with sauce, different kinds of salads, fish, dessert, and much more. They had eggs and cereal and toast as well. I will say that everything I ate tasted totally fresh and delicious.
After breakfast, we hopped on the bus, and headed to the old city of Jerusalem.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I was literally walking on history, thousand year old ruins were before me. We were able to see King David’s temple, and walk where our ancestors walked. Our tour guide was absolutely incredible. He would explain the history of where we were, and then connect it to why it is important today, and explain why we tell these stories.
We walked a little further, and we found ourselves at the Western Wall.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This was an extremely emotional experience for me. I wrote a personal note, and was able to put it in the wall. I touched the wall and really felt the energy run through my body. I felt truly blessed to be at one of the holiest sights in the world.
Then we got a lunch break. We got to walk around for a bit, and I tried falafel for the first time. It was absolutely delicious. After that, we took a two hour bus ride out to the desert. We stayed with the Bedouin people and experienced their hospitality.
The first thing we did there was ride camels.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Riding a camel is an odd experience. I don’t like roller coasters, and the way the camel had to get up off the ground scared me a little. I was only on it for twenty minutes, but at least I can say I rode a camel in the desert.
Later that night, we got to meditate under the stars with no light pollution. I’ve never seen a more beautiful sky. After that we ate a Moroccan style dinner and it was so delicious. Eating real pita in the Middle East is oddly satisfying.
After dinner, we played a bunch of games that the Israelis had to come up with for us. We played a name game, they taught us Israeli slang, and a couple other games that had some meaning behind them. When the games were done, we all sat behind a fire, talked, and played some music. It was a great way for us to get to know each other even better. We had to be up at 5am the next day, so I called it a night around 11. We all slept in this big tent on these little mattresses. We were given sleeping bags as well. I was smart enough to take a sleeping pill, so once I fell asleep, I stayed knocked out until my alarm went off. It was very cold in the tent, and a lot of people did not sleep well.
DAY THREE:
I remember hearing a lot of different alarms go off that morning. My sister, who slept next to me, stayed sound asleep. I gave her a little nudge and I told her it was time to get up.
We were up so early because we would taking a hike up to Masada to watch the sunrise. The actual hike up was only about twenty minutes. It was a little bit of a struggle for me, but I felt really good once I made it to the top. It was a little cloudy, but we all still saw the sun rise together.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Masada is an extremely important place for the Jewish people. It was where King Herod built his home. It was where the Jews tried to fight off the Romans. It was one of the few times in history that the Jews really fought back, using their brawn instead of brain. After our tour guide explained all of that to us, we took a group picture:
Tumblr media
Then we walked around the ruins and got to see a lot of really cool architecture. We walked through King Herod’s actual bathhouse. which he based off of a Roman bathhouse. It was cool to see how he lived.
Tumblr media
Walking and seeing the desert was incredible. It looked like a much larger version of the grand canyon. It looked like it could go on forever.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It was time to hike back down the mountain to go get a much deserved breakfast. But this would not be twenty minutes like before. Instead, we took a snake trail back down which took over an hour. The rocks were really rubbly so of course I slipped and fell right on my knee. I didn’t get seriously hurt, but it was sore for the next couple of days. Luckily one of my friends was walking next to me, and he helped me up, and made sure I didn’t slip all the way down the mountain. I heard my sister yell a little further up, “Are you okay?!”, and I yelled back, “Yes! Be careful!!”.
We ate breakfast at a hostel/resort and it was absolutely incredible. This time they had fried eggs on toast and potato filled pastries. There was still dessert and salad stuff, so that really must be the culture.
After breakfast we had some time to rest up on the bus, we were headed for the  Dead Sea. When we got there, we stopped at a factory. This factory makes organic creams, gels, washes, etc all from the natural minerals, clays, and water found at the Dead Sea. So we each bought a little something before driving down to the private beach.
Here’s what you do at the Dead Sea: you rub the clay all over you that you find in the shallow part of the water (it helps make your skin soft and smooth), and then you go in the water. They have rules there, however, no swimming on your stomach and no splashing. Why? Because there is so much salt in the water that it would burn your eyes and if you drank like a cup of it, you would die. Magic happens when you lay on your back though. You float. Any person can float in the Dead Sea due to all of the salt. We were all laughing and freaking out, because a lot of us don’t usually float in water.
Tumblr media
We had a long bus ride back to Jerusalem. I could not wait to take a real shower. I rinsed off at the bathhouse at the beach, but the Dead Sea leaves you feeling a little slimy. So we all took our showers, changed our clothes, and headed down for dinner. This consisted of more pasta, salad, and bread.
DAY FOUR:
This was the toughest day of all. We got up early, had breakfast and packed all of our stuff up. Then we had a political discussion as a group. We talked about Israel and Palestine and what the fight was really over. I won’t get into everything that was discussed, but I have a much better understanding of both sides of the conflict now.
All of the Israelis had to be dressed in their uniforms this day. We were going to Mount Herzl which is a large, beautiful cemetery where important leaders and veterans are berried. When we got there, our tour guide asked us what Americans do on Memorial Day. A lot of them said they party and get drunk. I sat there with another girl, disgusted. She saw that I kept shaking my head, and she asked me if I had any family in the military, and I said yes, but that wasn’t why I was so disgusted. For the Israelis, their Memorial Day isn’t about celebration, it’s actually quite somber. Since everyone in Israel has to join the army, that means they probably had a family member or close friend die in the war. Back here in America, if you don’t know someone personally, you probably have a friend of a friend of a friend. The Israelis use their Memorial Day as another day to grieve and mourn, not drink and party and have cook outs. We also talked about how in America, Memorial Day is commercialized, and that also makes me sick. Stores have big super sales because they know everyone has the day off. That’s not what our people died for, in my opinion.
After we discussed all of that, our tour guide explained who Herzl was, and why he was so important. He was the first big leader of the Zionist movement, so his grave is at the top of the mountain, and his children are berried right next to him. Our tour guide took us to where a lot of the presidents and prime ministers of Israel were berried and their importance. Then we went to the veterans part of the cemetery. I felt something strong in the pit of my stomach.
The last time I was at a veterans cemetery was over the summer, in Sarasota, Florida. My papa passed away, and it was, and still is, extremely hard for me. So being back in such a sacred, beautiful place, put those awful memories back in my head.
Before we walked to the graves, our security guard wanted to read us a story that he translated for us. It was about a man named Jon, and how Jon would never get to do basically anything again. This got to me. I cried the whole time he read the story. All I could think of was my papa. No, he was not a young man who died in battle. He lived through his time in the service, and lived a long, happy life. But, he would never get to meet my boyfriend, he would never get to see me get married (some day), he wouldn’t get to come to my college graduation. Even though I feel his spirit with me, and I know he’s watching over me, I would obviously still rather him be physically here. I would give anything to hold his hand one last time.
After our security guard finished, I asked a friend for a tissue, and ran over to my sister. I gave her hand a squeeze, and kept walking. All of the Israelis had a story to tell that day, each one of them more heart-wrenching than the last. We all cried that morning. Out of respect of where we were, I did not take any pictures, but believe me when I tell you, it is absolutely breath-taking.
We took a break from the heavy stuff, and got to walk around a market place in the new city of Jerusalem for lunch. One of the Israeli girls took a few of us to her favorite pasta place. You could choose from a list of pastas, sauces, and whatever you wanted in it. It was a very delicious, and filling lunch. It reminded me of something I would eat in America, and it almost made me feel a little better. Plus it was nice to have a break from my usual lunch, falafel and pita/hummus.
Walking around the market place gave me some perspective, and I’ve been telling this story to everyone because my ignorance, in this moment, was pretty funny. So, my sister and one of our new friends and I were walking, and we walked by a wine and cheese shop, so I say, “Oh my gosh! Look, they have a wine and cheese store here?! We have those! That is so crazy.” And behind me I hear one of the Israeli boys laughing, and I turn around and say, “Wow, that must’ve sounded stupid, of course you have stuff like that here.” And he said, “Yeah, and the best part is, you can even buy stuff with actual money, you don’t even have to trade your camel.” This made all of us laugh, so for the rest of the trip, that was our joke. Anytime we saw something we have back in America, we would joke about it with him. And he would say something funny like “Yeah, we actually have things here, it’s not just desert people.” But it really was funny because they don’t teach us how modern everything is there. It kind of looks like Florida or New York, depending on the area that you are in.
Play time was over after lunch, our next stop was the Holocaust Museum, once again, I did not take any pictures out of respect. Every inch of this place had some sort of significance. The architecture of the inside of the museum had significance. The woman who explained everything to us did a fantastic job as well. Everything she talked about, I had basically already learned, but there were a lot of small details that I had never learned that she brought up. There were also a lot of screens set up so you could listen to survivor stories.
I’m not going to discuss everything I saw at the museum because I just can’t do  a lot of it justice, but I want to talk about the room they have at the end. At the end of the tour there is a big dome shaped room. When you look up, there are pictures of those who died. And around you are shelves of black books filled with 4 million people’s names. These are the recorded people who died in the Holocaust. There are also empty shelves for the other 2 million people they don’t have the names of. This room is chilling, and should remind us: NEVER AGAIN.
I didn’t think the day would get much heavier, but I was wrong. That night we all learned about this database that if you swab your cheeks, you can be matched with another Jewish person, and you can either give them your blood or your stem cells. A woman who had leukemia spoke about how she matched with someone from a birthright trip, and it saved her life. So I swabbed my cheeks, and now I’m in the database. This was my mitzvah for the trip.
After having such a heavy day, we were able to have a little dance party in one of the rooms in the hostel we were staying in. It was a lot of fun. We were all able to unwind after a somber day. It also gave me time to talk more to the Israelis about their every day life. One of them told me he was self conscious about his English. Let me tell you, all of the Israelis were very easy to understand, and their English was incredible. He said the hardest part was understanding some of our slang, and when we were being sarcastic due to our tones. I loved listening to them talk about their lives and the way they grew up.
DAY FIVE:
This was one of the first days we did not have to be up super early, and I was grateful for the extra sleep. However, my throat started feeling sore, and I ended up having an awful head cold for the next three days.
At this point and for the rest of trip, we would be in Tel A’viv. After breakfast, and a brief history lesson from a university professor (he gave an in depth lecture about how/why the Middle East got divided up the way it did) we got on the bus, and headed to a place called Jaffa (a town right outside Tel A’viv).
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
As you can see, it was a gorgeous day out. We got to walk around there for a little bit, these pictures are actually at a historical sight. We were sitting and standing on thousand year old steps!
Then we got to go to this giant market place in Tel A’viv. The girl in the picture above stuck with me (after I asked her to be my shopping buddy) and she helped me haggle in hebrew. We had a nice lunch together and I got her perspective on what it’s like to grow up in Israel and deal with what they deal with everyday. I had such a wonderful day with her, and it was one of my highlights from the trip.
That night, we all got together to do Shabbat. I grew up going to a conservative temple where the Cantor would chant the prayers from the torah. This trip, however, was reform, not conservative, which means we had a reform Shabbat. The only difference really is that the prayers are sang to a different tune played by a guitar. It was sort of tough for me because I knew all of the prayers, but I kept getting tripped up by the different tunes. This was also another time that I cried on this trip. During the service you say a prayer if you are mourning someone, and the minute the woman who was studying to be a rabbi spoke up about this, I began thinking of my papa. He was my nannie’s second husband, but was around ten years before I was born, so he’s always been my grandfather. He was catholic, so when he left us, we had a catholic ceremony for him, I never got to pray for him in hebrew. I looked over, and saw that my sister was crying, so I went over to her in the middle of the prayer, and we held each other and we cried. I didn’t care that people were looking at us, we needed each other. Later on, one of the Israeli boys told me that was a very beautiful and powerful moment, and he enjoyed watching us comfort each other. I was happy to know us getting emotional didn’t weird anyone out like I thought. That moment gave me a little bit of closure, getting to pray for him the way I knew how.
You’re not really supposed to do much on Shabbat, so after dinner, we all hung out and played games and listened to music. We also had a mini talent show which was very entertaining to watch. Since I wasn’t feeling well, I went up to bed after hanging out for only a little while. I also spent most of the time talking to my boyfriend on the phone when I could have been a little more social, but with the time difference I took any chance I could to hear his voice.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
DAY SIX:
Another morning we got to sleep in a little late. I even slept through breakfast. This was the worst day of my head cold, I did not want to get out of bed, but I did. We concluded our Shabbat service, and by the time we did that, we went down to lunch, and I made sure to have some orange juice.
This was a very chill day. We went for a walk, and saw a couple more sights, and we got a chance to grab some ice cream which I had been craving. Everyone was really excited for the night to come. We’d be going to a dinner and then to a night club. So everyone got dressed up.
Tumblr media
We broke off into groups when it came to dinner time, some people got sushi, some people got pizza, and of course my group just had to go to a hummus and pita place where I ate falafel for the fifteenth time, but it was still fun.
Tumblr media
We were told to meet at a corner so we could all get into the club together, and of course we had to take another group picture.
Tumblr media
This is one of my favorite pictures of a few of us, I can’t really explain why, but I just love it.
The club was so cool! One of the Israelis set it up for us, he knew the owner so we got these wristbands, and anytime we ordered a drink we would get a free shot with it. We even got the whole upstairs pretty much to ourselves. They played really awesome music too. Lots of killer throwbacks and stuff from now. They even played the “Friends” theme song and we all freaked out.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Did you really go to the club if you didn’t take some selfies to document it?
We had to leave a little after midnight which was sort of lame because we were all having such a great time. A lot of people stayed up late that night, but of course, I still wasn’t feeling well, so I socialized for like twenty minutes when we got back, and then I went to bed.
DAY SEVEN:
We got up early, it was the last day of the trip. The week flew by insanely fast, and even though we were trying to have fun throughout the day, the sadness of having to leave kept creeping into the backs of our heads.
We got to walk around Tel A’viv a little more, back near Jaffa. We got to walk closer by the water, and the view was just beautiful.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then we went to a farmer’s market, where I got a very fresh fruit smoothie. My friends went to get more falafel and I just couldn’t do it. One of the Israelis went with me to get the smoothie, he also wasn’t feeling the falafel.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
After lunch, we got to go to this really cool building where the CEO of birthright was, and we got to learn about a lot of the technology that was invented in Israel, they are super advanced over there!
When we were done with all of that, we went back to the hostel for the last time. We sat in one big circle, and the CEO of birthright sat with us. We went over all of the stuff we did throughout the week, and then we had to fill out a couple of surveys. Our last task was to go around and talk about our expectations of the trip, and our highlights of the trip. I talked about how it was such a good surprise to see how safe and normal everything was there. It was also a good surprise to see that the Israelis were silly just like us. At the end of the day, their still young and trying to have as much fun as possible like the rest of us. They aren’t these overly serious military people like I thought. My highlight was when my sister and I came together at the Shabbat service, and of course I cried when I brought that up, and I remember there was an Israeli sitting between my sister and I. He put his hand on my shoulder and gave it a little squeeze, and my sister and I held hands. I truly felt like we were all one big family.
Our last meal was burgers and fries, super American. The goodbye at the airport was bittersweet. This was where the Israelis had to leave us. Once again, I cried. I wish I had had more time with them. They were all so wonderful and I really wanted to keep getting to know them. I became friends with all of them on Facebook, but that didn’t make me feel much better.
We got our boarding passes, walked through the airport, and got on our plane back to America. After we had all gotten through customs, we had another goodbye. A bunch of Americans sharing tearful goodbyes after such an important journey. We were all friends on Facebook, and some were even already talking about setting up a reunion. This was such an amazing group of people and I’ll never forget any of them.
My sister and I made a quick pit stop to change, and then we went to find our dad, who was waiting for us. We ran to him and we hugged, and after being on an 11 hour flight, we now had a four hour car ride from New York to Boston.
POST TRIP THOUGHTS:
I am so incredibly glad that I went on this trip. I am also thankful birthright offers seven day trips, they used only offer ten day trips. I was happy to return home,  but at the same time, I wish I was still there. I would love to go back some day. My new Israeli friends said we could call them anytime if we returned and they would tell us where to stay and where to go. Being able to go on this trip that was basically free was so worth while, and life changing. It made me think about a lot of things in my personal life and the world around me. I’ve always been proud of being Jewish, and I always thought I was a good Jew. Being able to be with only Jewish people was nice for a change. I go to a college in New Hampshire, so there aren’t a ton of Jewish people around. This trip reaffirmed that my heritage is a good one. I wouldn’t be who I am now if I wasn’t Jewish. The stories of my people are important, not that I ever thought they weren’t. But hearing those stories in basically the same places they happened, being immersed in that history is something I will never forget. I’ll go back to Israel again some day. Being able to take this journey with my older sister was also something I am grateful for. We aren’t super close, but now we have this. We shared this trip with one another, and that’s really important to me. I don’t think I would have been able to do this without her. Being able to grab her hand, or lean on her when I needed to meant more to me than she’ll know.
For those of you who are Jewish, and are of age for a birthright trip, I strongly suggest you go. Just do it. Fill out the application. You won’t regret it.
DC’s Stargirl Actor Trae Romano Talks Life on Set and Favorite Series Moments
Trae Romano is an Atlanta-based actor with a career to watch.
His breakout performance started opposite Beau Bridges in Comedy Central’s Robbie, but audiences are going to know his name after watching him in DC’s Stargirl. Romano plays the precocious Mike Dugan, the step-brother of Courtney Whitmore/Stargirl (Brec Bassinger) and the son of Pat Dugan (Luke Wilson). Not only is Stargirl a large-scale superhero series on the CW and DC Universe, but it’s a series with heart as it explores life in a blended family and the growing pains that come with it.
“Pilot” Promotional Image: Luke Wilson, Brec Bassinger, Amy Smart, and Trae Romano
Maggie Lovitt (ML): How did you get into acting?
Trae Romano (TR): I probably got into acting about eight years ago when a good family friend was filming a movie here in Atlanta. I was on set when I was little, probably five or six. I really liked being on set and seeing what everyone did. I actually met Larry David, but I didn’t even know who he was then. But I hung out on set and got to sit in the director’s chair and  I just really liked the sense of camaraderie between the actors and everyone on set. That was probably the first time I realized this is what I want to do.
ML: Do you have any aspirations outside of acting? Writing or directing?
TR: Definitely, I would love to write or direct. I’ve been writing for probably just as long as I’ve been acting. I’ve always wanted to direct the stuff I write. I’m hopefully going to be doing a short film next year with my friend Patricio. We’re getting that all buttoned up. I’ve written one feature and I’m in the process of writing another one now during quarantine. I’m lucky to be in a position where I have a little more wiggle room.
ML: Especially with working on Stargirl, you’ve met so many people who can help facilitate making that happen.
TR: It’s very special. I’m very grateful to even be around those people. They’re a very big influence on me.
ML: What was the audition process like? Did you know that you were auditioning for a DC show?
TR: I did not know I was auditioning for a DC show. It was the scene from the pilot episode, where we’re walking down the street talking. To me, it just felt like a fun comedy pilot. They also gave me a scene from later in the season that was a little more dramatic. Not even knowing that it was DC, I saw that Luke Wilson was already attached to the project which gave it a little more legitimacy. Once I found it was DC, I really submerged myself in the comics while we were filming.
ML: What was it like to be part of such a large scale project?
TR: It was so interesting because on large scale projects, it can feel very cut and dry. Very corporate. But the way Geoff Johns, Stargirl’s showrunner, made the set feel was almost like a bunch of friends who got together to make a show. I would hang out with Luke and Brec Bassinger in between takes and we’d all eat lunch together. I didn’t have as many scenes as Luke and Brec, but I’d hang around after my wrap and watch their scenes. There was a real sense of community. And that sense started from the top down with Geoff. He is one of the nicest guys I’ve ever met in my entire life.
ML: I have to say, having watched the first two episodes the series really feels like you’re watching a movie.
TR: It just keeps getting better later on in the season. Since we have so many different directors, each episode really has its own flavor. When different directors would come on, they would clearly have their own preference for camera work and how they wanted actors to perform. Later on in the season, there are some really great scenes that just really showcase the variety.
ML: What is your process for getting into character?
TR: I don’t really think you need to prepare to play a character like Mike. You just have to be quick off the trigger with witty comebacks. Mike is a really fast-paced character. I didn’t have to do too much; it’s not a Daniel-Day Lewis in Lincoln performance. It’s a very lighthearted and down to earth performance. Mike has this swag that he owns. I like to think I’m a little more calm than he is. But I did not have to do much.
ML: Did you get to improv any moments?
TR: I was in the callback process for another film when I got the Stargirl audition and I had been working on the scenes with my friend Josh. When we went to record my audition for Stargirl we decided to just riff at the end of one of the takes. Just improvising about thirty seconds of dialogue afterwards in character. That ended up carrying over to when I was actually on set.
Geoff firmly believes in doing it once as it's written and then doing another take and having fun. Luke and I would go out to dinner and we would write these scenes that were funny to us. Then we’d show them to Geoff and he’d be like, “We can work with that.” It was great to be part of the creative process. Geoff gave a lot of leeway for Luke and I. That dynamic between us gets very important.
ML: How would you describe Mike and Courtney's relationship? Are they friendly or do they have a sibling rivalry?
TR: I wouldn’t say that they’re not not friendly. They’re in kind of a stalemate right now, in the two episodes that have been released. Courtney views Mike as an annoying step-brother. And he is. The first five episodes, you don’t really want to like him. Later on, that dynamic changes. They start to respect each other more.
In the middle, Mike is clearly very jealous of Courtney because she’s spending so much time with his father and taking time away from him. He’s always been with his father since he never knew his mother. But I think it’s a very cool arc. Like I said, it starts as a stalemate and by the end of the season it’s a very sweet story.
ML: Do you have siblings to draw inspiration from as an annoying brother?
TR: I have two older sisters. Some of the dialogue later on between Courtney and Mike feels so authentic. It’s so like how an older sister would react or what the younger brother would say.
ML: What would you do if you found out your own sibling was a superhero?
TR: Well, first I wouldn’t say anything. Because I know if I say anything about anything, they’ll probably kill me. I would just keep that to myself, you know. Until they end up on the local news and then I’ll be like “Yep, that’s my sister!”
ML: Is there an upcoming episode that really stands out to you? Maybe your favorite to film?
TR: The last five episodes are my favorite. The whole cast had gotten into this groove. We’re all great friends. The JSA (Justice Society of America) and ISA (Injustice Society of America), all the SAs were friends. There were these great directors that came on board to direct. It’s at a point where the episodes show a shift in everyone and stuff is getting real. Things are really starting to go downhill and everyone starts to come together. All the loose ends get tied. For Mike and Courtney, there are some scenes later on where they open up to each other. They have this understanding with each other. And he is kind of at peace with everything. It all comes full circle.
ML: Did you get to do any stunts?
TR: Maybe.
ML: What superhero would you love to see come to Stargirl?
TR: I think some of the superheroes from the original JSA, like the Flash or the Green Lantern, would be cool. Just seeing Flash zip around Blue Valley. I’m sure Geoff has ideas. I would not be surprised if later on down the road more superheroes appear.
ML: How does Mike feel about superheroes?
TR: I think Pat took it very seriously not to expose him to that world. He knew the threats of being in that life and he understood how dangerous the ISA was. Even in the first episode, Courtney says: “I know who they are. A bunch of superheroes from the old days. They quit when I was a kid.”  I think Mike might’ve been aware, but it was never at the forefront of his mind. That’s why it’s so shocking later on. He’s not really aware, but I think he will look up to them later on.
ML: This series has a phenomenal soundtrack. What’s on Mike’s playlist?
TR: Mike knows where all the tunes are at. I think his music taste is influenced by his father. He’s probably listening to some classic rock like the Kinks or the Rush. I think Pat Dugan was playing them 24/7 on his radio. Maybe some Johnny Cash. I think Mike is an old soul.
ML: Mike is obviously a big gamer, but have you been playing any video games lately?
TR: Lately I’ve been playing GTA Online. It’ll never get old, but it’s also the only way to hang out with my friends. GTA is just a great way to stay connected.
ML: Now, a dangerous question… DC or Marvel?
TR: I have always loved Marvel. I mean, I know Geoff loves Marvel too. But comic book lovers just love superheroes. It doesn’t really matter if it's DC or Marvel. The way I was exposed to superheroes was through The Avengers; Iron Man, the Hulk, and Black Widow.
I think with DC, what they do so well is the extended universe. The litany of things that it has going on in the background. Not that Marvel doesn’t, but I think the backstories of DC characters are so intriguing. I mean, look at Stargirl. The JSA in present-day Nebraska? I mean, damn! That’s a cool concept. When Joker came out, that changed DC for me. It was huge. That was what superhero movies should be like. I love both for their own reasons. I think superheroes is the answer.
ML: Now for some fun questions! What is something you have to have in your trailer?
TR: I would probably say my guitar. Whenever I’m not on set or reading my sides, I’m playing guitar. Also my golf club. When I was hanging out with Luke at his trailer, he had it parked in this spot that had a perfect patch of green grass and he’d hit to this manhole cover. Luke is a tall guy. I’d have to use his clubs and it just wasn’t working so eventually I was just like, “I have to bring my own club.” So that’s definitely a necessity.
ML: I have always joked that I got into acting because I love set catering. What’s the best meal you’ve had on the set of Stargirl?
TR: It’s funny you say that. I remember talking with Luke one day and I had a bag of those little donuts on set and he’s like, “You’re getting donuts from crafty? That’s amateur hour.” And I told him, “Look Luke, the reason I got into this business was the crafty.” He was like, “Alright, I respect that. That’s a valid answer.” But I think the best meal after a long day of work was penne and broccoli. The chef Tony was Italian and he made these great dishes like my father would make. He’d add some olive oil and pepper, and the perfect amount of garlic to the penne. It was great.
ML: Aside from donuts, what do you always have to grab at crafty?
TR: You know what they had that I hadn’t seen since I was small? Scooby-Doo fruit snacks.
ML: There’s a great debate about the best sparkling water. La Croix or Bubbly?
TR: I think Pelligrino. The problem with La Croix or Bubbly, for me, is that they don’t have enough flavor. Pelligrino has real fruit juice in their drinks.
ML: You mentioned working on writing during quarantine. Have you worked on anything new? A lot of people are tapping into their creativity with video series or podcasts.
TR: You mentioned video series and you know I started writing this little web series. Have you ever watched Atlanta? It’s a really accurate depiction of the city. My father came down to Atlanta from New York. We’re Italian and there are no Italians in the South. There’s always these bad Italian restaurants and we’re like “This isn’t Italian food!” So, what I’ve always wanted to see on TV was something about Italians living in Atlanta. I started writing about that as a mini-series. I know Luke is also writing. And Brec wanted to get into writing as well. I think everyone is really getting involved with writing. It’s nice to have this time to write.
ML: There’s so many new series on streaming services, have you binged anything lately?
TR: I’ve been watching Dave. It’s brilliant and Lil Dicky is hysterical. He did a great job for his first show ever. So many people that are on there are also represented by my agency. It’s such a cool story because so much of it is true. GaTa is the best character on the show. It’s such a great show. I also watched Catch-22, which was a limited series on Hulu. George Clooney is in it, and produced and directed a few episodes. It’s such a cool story. There wasn’t this huge story, it was just a feel-good WWII period piece. It was depressing and happy at the same time.
Lastly, this is a huge one. What We Do in the Shadows comes out every Thursday. Taika Waititi is a genius. I told everyone to go see JoJo Rabbit. I’ve probably watched it seven times. Takia is just brilliant and so is Jemaine Clement.  It’s so out there and absurd. I watch it every Thursday with my grandfather. He loves Taika too.
ML: I adore Taika’s work. I just saw the news about him directing his own Star Wars movie.
TR: Outside of superheroes, I am such a big Star Wars fan. So much of my influence with writing comes from Takia and Wes Anderson, who I’ve been watching a lot of movies from too. But for him to be doing a Star Wars movie it’s just so exciting. There’s no knowing what he’s going to come up with. He’s a creative genius. I hope one day I can meet the guy and tell him he’s the GOAT.
ML: Hey, who knows. Maybe one day you’ll end up in Star Wars too.
TR: You never know.
