Will Zoro leave Luffy after they achieve their dreams? Not likely

Saying Zoro's gonna voluntarily leave Luffy at the end of OP so he can "live his own life" (i.e. get married, open a dojo, hang out in bars) is so wild to me. That's like saying Luffy's gonna give up adventuring so he can sit around and gorge himself on meat

First of all, it ignores that Zoro genuinely enjoys traveling with Luffy. Luffy (who's always getting into trouble) gives Zoro the chance to be his best self. And Zoro (who very much wants to be his best self) will always seize that chance with both hands

Second, both characters are like...the poster children of wanting to have their cake and eat it too. If you're Luffy or Zoro, you rarely need to make either/or choices. That's what makes them unique. It's why they've both got conqueror's haki! Basically: If Zoro wants to drink until he blacks out? If he wants to nap all day? Hell, if he wants to get lost in a paper bag?? He is like a big cat. He will do what he wants, wherever he is. He doesn't need to leave Luffy to get those things LOL

Third, Luffy's made it clear the Pirate King needs no less than the Greatest Swordsman by his side. Why would that suddenly stop once they've both achieved their dreams? Is Luffy going to quit being Pirate King? Why would he? Luffy wants to be the most free in the world, so he can live the life he wants...with the people he wants to live it with

In other words, Luffy isn't letting Zoro go without a fight — not unless Luffy genuinely feels he's no longer the type of man Zoro would want to travel with. And wouldn't that be the worst ending for both of them?

Not going to tag this on another post because it's tangential but I feel like we have a problem to tackle when it comes to trust and authority and social media. Because I feel like - somehow - while we've learned to be skeptics when it comes to vets and media and brands and research, there's this weird-ass loophole where if someone posts enough about a topic on a mostly-anonymous website, we assume they know what they're talking about. Heck, we may trust more in their thoughts and feelings than they themselves do.

And we've seen this in dogblr a solid number of times. From people just assuming your limited experience is universal fact all the way up to seeing someone make choices that would be HIGHLY questionable anywhere else but getting support here because 'we know them' and 'they know what they're doing (because they said so)'

It's VERY strange. Hell, people come to ME for ADVICE sometimes. We are VERY bad at this.

im trying to articulate how heart-wrenching it is that jesse gets punished for being vulnerable and open all the way through the series but i think it’s best encapsulated by the fact that hank forces jesse to film a confession tape where jesse has to relive the trauma of shooting gale and todd killing drew sharp, crying and in clear mental anguish the entire time, and that experience accomplishes literally nothing in the end. the tape doesn’t protect him or get anyone responsible convicted or punished. hank still doesn’t see him as anything more than a resource, a disposable junkie, even as jesse’s sitting on his couch sobbing. the neo-nazis find the tape and sit around literally mocking this footage after they enslave jesse, laughing at his display of emotion. he’s constantly exploited and punished for being open about his feelings. i guess that’s why its so effective and beautiful that jesse doesn’t ever let this stop him from continuing to show emotion. why it feels so cathartic when he sobs and screams as he speeds away from the compound: they didn’t take that part of him away from him. he was laughed at, tortured, used as a bargaining chip, but he still cries and shows his cards and is a messy, emotional human all the way to the very end. they could’ve ended el camino with the shot of him driving into alaska with that kind of peaceful, but not super emotive expression, but they didn’t. they ended with him looking over and imagining jane with him. one final show of his love and emotions and how it has caused him suffering and pain, but didn’t ever break him.

You know how there's a whole thing about how DC superheroes die and get brought back a lot? Well, for DPxDC, how about this?

Every time a Justice League member gets resurrected, their ghost remains in the Ghost Zone.

So you'll have a member of the Justice League bite the bullet for whatever reason, they'll form as a ghost in the Ghost Zone. They'll make themselves comfortable, maybe they'll even becoming defenders of peaceful ghosts who have no experience fighting or no desire to fight. Maybe they'll find dead family members and re-establish their bonds. Maybe they'll find other dead members of the Justice League and make and undead branch of the Justice League. Maybe they'll meet Danny and either help teach him how to be a hero (if he's still young) or become a hero group supported by him (if he becomes the king).

And then, for whatever reason, someone found the magical amulet that can revive a person, they somehow developed 1-Ups for a limited time, the revival machine finally got a tune up, the hero gets revived. But the ghost doesn't leave the Ghost Zone. Because of this, the revived hero doesn't have any memories of their time in the afterlife. The ghost probably doesn't even notice something changed and that their old body is up and running again.

This all ends up coming to a head when the GIW decide to push the manhunt for Danny Phantom and all other ghosts, lying to the Justice League in order to convince them to help. They eventually decide to hunt down Danny and corner him, ready to capture him...

… And suddenly he's saved by a bunch of ghosts that look identical to them.

I'll never understand how some fans are so incredibly willing to just be okay with "it happened in a timeskip" to excuse bad writing lol. Like "oh yeah these two characters who have been enemies for like four seasons of a TV show had their entire reconciliation OFF SCREEN in the time skip between episodes right at the end so it works" or "oh yeah this character who was left basically broken had their entire growth and development where they came to terms with the thing that broke them in the time skip so it works" kind of stuff. #caroline talks #don't get me wrong. i love u happy endings. esp when it comes to queer love stories #but i also just. love endings where it's just like. well. u DON'T know for certain whether the characters #are truly going to ride off into the sunset together. #the only thing u know for certain is that they love each other and that they're going to have to grapple with that forever. #maybe it's also just bc like. idk. i took too many film classes and so my head's forever stuck #on this one essay about how some really happy endings feel lifeless. #like how in some ending shots. the characters look like they've had their happy ending. but there's also some weird unease and confusion #and it's like. well yeah. because for every happy moment u get in life. u are still already thinking 'well what's next. what now.' #which is fascinating to me. but also me @ me: god maybe u can just be happy and it's not that deep. #but also. i do love the wonderful ambiguity of just. 'there is so much more to live. so much more to do.' #and i guess it's not just for queer love stories. i think a lot about the ending of my mister. #with lee ji an and park dong hoon walking away from each other but they're happy. u have no idea how their relationship will pan out but u #do know that they love each other. #or like. columbus. with jin and casey. they hug each other and thank each other for being in the other's lives. #and jin says goodbye to casey and casey says goodbye to jin and u have no idea if they'll see each other again. but u know they love each #other so very much. even if they'd only known each other for a second. #or like. beginners. anna and oliver love each other so much and u get this sense that. they're still a little bit uneasy/nervous about how #the rest of their lives are going to go. but they'll try. #or. god. the swearing jar. #the last shot. i think about it a lot. #there is love!!! but u don't always know how the rest of it is going to pan out!!! u just know that it'll pan out somehow!

#i lost my job #even though they're not saying its because of my disability it is because of it #I've been applying to places and some of the safety nets i had fell through #im scared right now and feel very betrayed #i got enough to get me through the month but beyond that idk what to do #i have resources im looking into and as most know that doesn't put a dent into finances #i need help #i feel bad for asking and i know i preach people shouldnt feel ashamed #but i do get where folks are coming from with that #the shame is powerful especially when you pride yourself as someone that takes care of themselves #im open to ideas opinions whatever folks want to say #i haven't felt this triggered ptsd wise in a long time past homeless experience and work abuse has been creeping in #I'm trying to get to the good but its really hard seeing it right now after getting screwed for the millionth time #for something i can't control with my body #i guess on a good note that partnership meeting went well #it seems like an excellent opportunity but its also an investment and i don't have the means to put into that right now
