SO. why is Jaskier called the Nightingale Prince? I’ve googled it and it only says he’s called that in q video game and no more explanation are forthcoming. :(

In his wiki there’s a bunch of titles! There’s also ‘the Crimson Avenger’ but I’m pretty sure that’s a book thing, even tho i haven’t read them.

if you’d andswer this, or point me to someone who can, I’d be grateful!

The Wiki is…bad. Basically, it meshes together the games and books and graphic novels and everything without telling you what things are from. So then when you have questions that are not directly related to the show you genuinely have no idea where the information is from and there’s a lot of incorrect information in the wiki too. 

Which makes finding where things are from actually pretty difficult.

The Crimson Avenger is actually from a side quest in TW3 u can watch a play through of it here. Basically Dandelion has Gerald pretend to be the Prince of Thieves so Dandelion can swoop in as the “Crimson Avenger” and save the day. (I did write a DC AU here where Dandelion actually uses that as his superhero name). There’s also a version of the quest where Geralt calls him the Crimson Asshole so that’s gold too.

The Nightingale Prince is a little harder to find. That’s actually from one of the Graphic Novels The Witcher: Flesh and Flame.

It takes place in Ofir and it’s one side panel where they call Dandelion “The Nightingale Prince” there is no further explanation.

This actually has nothing to do with my in-universe reasoning as to why Jaskier has the name. In the fic, I say:

Julian had heard his epithet being yelled out as he ran out of the camp. It was not a name he would have necessarily chosen for himself but it had stuck. Originally it was the Prince’s Nightingale as he was known as Filvandrel’s, the Prince of the Elves, master assassin. He would pose as a traveling bard and he was said to have the voice of a Nightingale, gorgeous and rich. However, some brilliant soul had taken to saying the Nightingale Prince as it rolled off the tongue just a bit better, and then there was no escaping the name. Luckily, no one had connected him as a Witcher yet. While the golden eyes would normally be a shining beacon as to his identity, no one had ever seen his face and not a single Witcher left would have claimed him.

And in the Nightingale Prince his armor is actually based on the Nightingale Armor from Skyrim.

Hi, did you play every AC game? If yes, in term of game plays which are the easiest? For someone without much experience in games, ty!

Not every AC game, because I can handle only so much of cookie cutter games at a time. Before I say more, lemme get this out of the way first: I played the Ezio trilogy back in 2018 because Da Vinci’s Demons was cancelled and I wanted more Da Vinci content and the white and red hoodie looks cool. In other words, I didn’t play the game because it’s called Assassin’s Creed.

The AC games I played so far, by the order of which one I play first. I’ll rate gameplay by my personal preferences (because it’s the only way I know how).

Ezio’s trilogy (AC2, AC Brotherhood, AC Revelations, played in 2018): decent parkour, minimal grind (just invest in the villa and you’re a millionaire in a day or two), very story focused (perfect balance of historical and modern plots). Decent combat. The golden years of AC and I agree.

Unity (played a few months after Ezio): good parkour, medium grind (bigger map and more items to upgrade, you still get to invest in properties so it helps). Time-saver items are on sale for real money aka MTX (ew). Combat is ok, not much difference since Ezio. Historical story is meh (I don’t care for Arnold because Elise’s story is more interesting) and they completely ditched the modern plot (you think Odyssey has little modern day plot, try Unity). Buggiest AC game I encountered and I played this game 4+ yrs after launch (hold on to that thought, keep reading). Ubi spent all of their time and budget doing the interior design (which is gorgeous btw) that they have none left to fix the bugs.

Black Flag (a few months after): chasing flying papers is my favorite activity to NOT do. Grindy af (no property investment). I can’t tolerate the controls for the ship so I hate everything that involves ship in this pirate game, except for sea shanties. You’ll have more fun playing this game as a pirate than an assassin. Combat feels the same since Ezio. Other mechanics are like Unity (understandable). Modern plot is minimal, but it makes bloodline irrelevant and there’s a....soul inside a computer server that wants to possess a human body, meanwhile said soul’s husband is a maniac who has unlimited reincarnations (realism, I know). Black Flag is the gateway game that convinces me that I should stop wasting my brain cells in “what kinda bs realism is dis?”

Odyssey (a month after launch, bought solely because of Kassandra also when I heard Odyssey is set before the creed, oh fuck yea I don’t need to sit through another rehash of Creed crap or at least minimal anyway): oh gods a breath of fresh air from the old controls where you have to hold R2 whenever you want to run and my fingers hurt sfm. Climbing is the best because the protag actually moves where you want them to move. MTX (ew). Grindy but because the combat and movements are smooth, best combat so far; I don’t see Odyssey as grindy because I enjoy my time playing (also Kassandra); I platinum the game on PS4 at around 130 hrs I think, could’ve been earlier but photomode. Fun quests that I giggle whenever thinking about them (I don’t remember shit about any quests in any other AC game, but then again Kassandra). People bitch about no parkour but who parkour in the 450BCE?!?!? Full disclosure: I never cared for parkour and never will. I stop caring for modern plot after how Unity and Black Flag handled it. Playing Odyssey makes me realize that I enjoy AC games more if idgaf for the AC aspect, rather, I play for the fictional historical tourism aspect. Just ditch the AC and voila, blue sky and fresh air. Playing Odyssey also makes me realize that I want a spin-off IP that focus on the Isu so we can go full fantasy. Do I need to say how pretty Odyssey is? lol

Origins (planned to play Origins first, but Kassandra. Also, I remember Amunet from AC2, but somehow we play as a dude in Ancient Egypt, I’m not too eager to find out, despite I prefer Egyptian mythology over Greek and I’d like to thank Yu-gi-oh for that): combat is clunky, heavy, and slow, though no need to hold R2 to run so phew. Grindy af. The bow mechanics is a decade outdated (Horizon Zero Dawn came out the same year and oh boi the difference is night and day, oh yea I played HZD before Origins. I get it the bow isn’t the focus but does it have to feel like Skyrim in 2017?). I’m glad I play this game for the Ancient Egypt (which is beautifully designed *chef kiss*) aspect and no more. 

Syndicate (I play this along side of Origins, still haven’t finished it though. Literally bought the game for Evie and I nut over Victorian fashion): combat is no different from Unity. Grindy like Black Flag and Unity. Story is meh in both historical and modern plot so far. Evie is the only reason I’m still trying to play this game. At least the Helix outfits are included in the Gold edition of the game. Victorian London is gorgeous tho.

Valhalla (only care for this game because Eivor. Tbh after God of War and Hellblade, idc for another Viking game): game is buggy af, buggiest AC game I’ve played. Combat is like Origins but worse: the only saving grace is the finishing move & the bow mechanic hasn’t been improved since Origin; I honestly would rather have combat from the Ezio games over whatever-this-is. You have to toggle a button to run now, which is dumb af because I miss Origins and Odyssey automatic run. They bring parkour back (because Vikings totally dig parkour back in the Dark Ages) as well as the-character-doesn’t-move-where-you want-them-to from the older games. Chasing flying papers from black flag is back, no thx. Looting enemies is useless, but hey you get to run around to look for a key or two or THREE to get some minimal amount of materials; so imagine if 2/3 of every chest in Origins and Odyssey are locked. Oh! You have manually pick berries/food to heal, no healing potion, wtf is this half-ass RPG shit? Side quests, oh sorry World Events, aren’t tracked in an open-world game (guess who hasn’t been doing these bitches?). Grindy af. I’m wasting my time looking at the skill points interface (you have 99 lv in Odyssey, 55 in Origins, 403 power in Valhalla. A game doesn’t feel like grindy if you level up every 2 quests for 403 times, does it? lololol). The useless SP tree is so massive that I just don’t use the skills I acquire because it takes too much time to find out which buttons to push to locate the 10 skills in this 403-dot clusterfuck, but the astronomy design is beautiful (gotta give credit when it’s due). Scummy practice from Ubi: releasing “time-saver” pack AFTER reviews are published. Also, who wanna bet there will be more mtx outfits than in-game outfits? Don’t worry, Ubi makes inventory management cLEaNeR for you *hands over 8 outfits for an RPG game*. The free event bugs tf out of your already buggy event, but hey, you’ll get a free outfit that’s a reskin of what you already have, teeheee be grateful. Eivor is amazing but by the gods playing this game is a chore. Tbh I only play Valhalla if I don’t feel like playing Ghost of Tsushima that day. Lastly, why is England so yellow like it’s Ancient Egypt?!?!? And why the sunlight moves faster than Eivor’s running at full speed? Which parts of this game does realism count?!?!?!?

Unsolicited opinion: GoT is an example of how an AC game should be and how DLCs should be handled, but with Ubisoft it will never be and I’m so fucking glad that it is Sucker Punch Prod which handles feudal Japan with utmost respect and realism. See how “honor” is handled in both games and compare the writing. Ubisoft should have announced ding dong AC is dead and create a new IP, but AC is their most financially successful franchise so expect more of this MTX, I mean, grindy RPG approach with minimal narrative.

If not, The Crane Wives are a recent find of mine that I absolutely love. Same with Hidden Citizens (very good for that intense, cinematic music).

Favorite Solo Artists: Tommee Profitt (also that sort of intense, cinematic, movie trailer-esque music, though a bit more orchestral) also, Karliene (she sings a lot of folk music and things like that. Definitely recommend looking her stuff up on Youtube 10/10).

Top Three Fictional Universes I’d Like To Live In: Oooooh....Marvel is definitely one (get me some cool superpowers or magic, ya know?). Hmm....maybe something like Harry Potter (screw J.K Rowling tho, I just want magic powers). Aaaannd...maybe Skyrim? That could be cool!!! Ride around on dragons and shit, become badass warrior or mage, be a werewolf or vampire, so many options!!!

I Caved

I finally got a lil sick of not playing Skyrim, so I finally created my own PlayStation account and created a new character. I couldn’t stay away any longer after blogging about how I hadn’t played for awhile, and I basically spent a good six hours playing despite having family over for most of the day (today was Mama’s day).

Her name is Cahira, she has yellow face paint, and I love her. She kicks ass. Literally.

I think I’m going for a battlemage build right now. And despite my brain knowing that Breton is the traditionally ‘best’ race for playing (resistance to magic, and all them other magic wielding perks) I made her a kickass Redguard because yes.

And also because the extra Redguard face paint designs are SO COOL. IM serious. I was looking at the presets for Redguards, because they’re all really pretty, and came across hers and I absolutely lost it. I kept trying to go a create a Breton that might look similar but nah, this Redguard preset was the best by far. After playing around with hair and eye color, I chose the Redguard valiantly and named her Cahira, because I’m a sucker for powerful lady names.

Now knowing how to play the game and being better at the mechanics, the beginning was a Lot easier... and didn’t take me an extra fifteen minutes to get out of Helgen because I couldn’t jump from one building to another. I also realized that when I was playing on my brother’s account I must’ve messed up the controls somehow because my character NEVER ran. I didn’t know how to do it. Seriously. Like instead of the run button being on L1 (like it is now) it was sneak beforehand. And instead of sneak being on L3, it was change POV, which always sucked when I was fighting because I press down hard when I get stressed. It’s much less annoying now cuz now it just sneaks whenever I press that.

Still gotta work on fixing my muscle memory though, so I’ll stop running when I’m meant to be sneaking. Otherwise? It’s a great structure and really comfortable, and I still have no idea how I ruined it on my other account.

This time I went straight into everything and became a Thane of Whiterun as soon as I could. I intend to go straight to Winterhold once I finish a quick mission for the Companions (I joined them early this time) and go visit the good ol’ Greybeards. I honestly felt really bad for Farkas when Aela and Skjor were making fun of him. Plus when he was showing to me to the quarters he was like, “They enjoy making fun of me, but they’re good people” like Bruh. I felt So Bad. I love Aela but I wanted to post up. Like yes, Farkas might have dumb bitch disease but they don’t need to be so Mean. Same with Vilkas. I know he’s the stronger and smarter one but it sucks how they all talk badly about Farkas. Ugh, I gotta stop defending videogame characters like they’re people.

I got a note from an unknown male friend (so I know it’s not Delphine) telling me to find the power in Valthuim, which I’m not even sure I know about so I’ll have to check that out once I get all those magic powers I want at Winterhold. In a way, I’ll be doing the same thing I was doing as Toril, except with more knowledge of how to play well, but with a lower level character.

I still play Adept difficulty, but I’m currently at level 5 so I don’t think it matters. I’m focusing a lot more on smithing than I was previously, and dove straight into collecting ingredients for Alchemy. My favorite strategy right now is honestly just chugging a bunch of health potions mid-battle and hoping not to die. Making money is also soo easy, though I’m sure it was before and I was just really bad at saving it; I almost found myself buying a place in Whiterun immediately, but I figured I’d explore a little before that and just chose to join the Companions instead. My inventory isn’t that full yet and I haven’t collected any books, so right now I’m more focused on exploring.

Also, I decided to go with Ralof in the beginning this time. I still think the Stormcloaks are assholes, and genuinely do prefer to stay on neither side, but damn it is fun as hell to act all ballsy when running into the Thalmor. They suck, and it’s fun to just get in their way. I tried once and died Immediately though because I was too weak, but next time, I won’t mind being an asshole to them by letting someone run free.

I have some pretty small goals for right now, which is 1) Not to kill Lydia by accident again, 2) Meet Ulfric since people say he’s an interesting character and 3) Get really good at magic. I know, boring, but I just wanna see all the powerful magical options since originally I just focused on fighting and heavy armor. I still love that way of playing, but I figured a battlemage is just gonna be slightly out of comfort zone but also just really fun to play as. My character is dope as as hell and is still fresh so she just has a lot of potential.

Also maybe me choosing my characters based on how pretty I think they are is probably gonna get in the way, but frankly I don’t mind. I chose the mage stone in the beginning, despite initially wanting to have a cool warrior character again, but it’s ok. I can still live my powerful warrior lady dreams through Toril, whom I still love very much and am missing despite how how awesome Cahira also is.

As I keep leveling up, I’m gonna use my perks on blocking, any magicka stuff, and one-handed weapons and armor. Sure I’ll broaden that as I go, but that’s what I’m mainly focusing on. I’m definitely gonna pay more attention to blocking and armor than I did before because those just seem like really useful skills, and an insanely easy way to make money. I bought some iron ore off a black smith and saved myself so much after smelting it into a ingot and creating hella weapons to sell it back to them. Once again, I’m sure everyone has already done this, but it’s new to me and I’m a little slow at being good at games. But I’m getting there!

So yea, that’s it for today. Me and Farkas have dumb bitch disease, though I still don’t like him Like That™, and I’m still very obsessed with this game. I’m waking up and doing my assignments immediately tomorrow so I don’t slack off the rest of the day, but as soon as I finish chores and excercise I’ll get on it. I’m pretty sure I’m failing gym because I keep forgetting to turn logs in, but it’s fineee. Skyrim will protect me from my fear of failure. Thank you for reading! Hope you enjoyed!

Thoughts on Skyrim?

I love it.

Despite all the memes and everything, it IS a great game, and I had tons of fun playing it over and over. The mods have made it a lot more replayable. I just love to use the Alternate Start mod to start a new game as a bard or as a mage unworried about this whole dragon thing, just doing stuff around. Sometimes you just wanna own a nice house by the lake you know? Even when I’ve played a thousand times I’m always finding new stuff (or installing mods that add it) and so it’s been a ton of fun so far and I expect it will still be.

There are many things where it could have been better, for example I wish classes were a little more defined (you can easily a warrior-mage-rogue-dragonborn monster and it gets just too boring that way), more quests solved by diplomacy or other skills like in Fallout New Vegas, and the whole FROZEN NORD LAND aesthetic gets boring after a while (there are mods that add new maps but my laptop barely handles it as it is so I’ll try them when I buy a better computer).

My current characters are the great Nord Dragonborn hero Fheinhard (with a GLORIOUS BEARD) who is the only who finished the main quest and is now retired on his lake home, an Imperial bard who goes from city to city collecting books and playing songs (there’s a mod that allows you to do that, but I’m not sure which of the 50+ I have is), a Khajiit mage in Winterhold doing the quests but ONLY using magic (and claws), and an Argonian botanist (the most recent one). I should do a vampire or werewolf game one of these days.

Ma’zurah’s Morrowind Mod Recommendations

New to Morrowind Modding?

You only really need two things: Morrowind Sound and Graphics Overhaul and the latest version of the Morrowind Code Patch.

Start with a clean installation of Morrowind and run MSGO: https://www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/36945

MSGO has an installation wizard as well as a PDF on how to run the installation process. Follow the instructions until it’s done.

Then install the latest version of the Morrowind Code Patch, which has options that are fairly important to smooth gameplay, such as showing whether an object is owned or not. https://www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/19510

Copy the Morrowind Code Patch files into the Morrowind directory (make sure to merge the correct folders so the Data Files folder merges with the Code Patch’s Data Files folder, etc.) and rerun the code patch config exe file to select all the new options you want. 

That’s it. You can play Morrowind now if you want. You’ve updated the graphics and functionality to the point where the game is playable. However, you’re missing out on a lot of great content.

What to use to install mods:

Once that's done you can install mods with either the Nexus Mod Manager (which is what I did because I was used to it from Skyrim modding) or Wrye Mash (which you're gonna need anyway): https://www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/44386/

Either way you're gonna need to make sure that every mod you download is repacked correctly. The archive should contain a folder labeled Data Files, and all mod files and folders should be inside of that. This is an essential step.

You're gonna need to sort your load order and make a patch with Wrye Mash to make everything work together every time you install and test a mod (or batch of mods if you're lazy like me.)

When you and your f/o sleep together, what position do you two sleep in?Sans likes to spoon me, like a lot, but that’s if we make it to a bed! Most nights we pass out on the couch with him on top of me, he doesn’t admit it but I’m pretty sure he just likes how squishy I am. :3

Does your f/o ever tease you about things? Alternatively, do you every tease your f/o about things?Sans is so goddamn easy to make blush, I’ll do anything and everything to make him blush, particularly when we’re around Undyne and Alph’ cause they’ll gush about it and just make him blush harder! To be fair, he knows exactly what to do to make me blush 10x harder, so he gets me back. It’s like constant, back and forth, teasing heh.

What song best fits the relationship between you and your f/o?We can both agree that Glad You Came by The Wanted suits how we feel about each other very well!

Do you and your f/o ever go stargazing?Sans likes to do stargazing every night, although it’s always brief and right before bed, he does it to calm himself down and really reassure himself he’s on the surface. Of course I’m there right along side him, but when I really get enamoured with it is when we get the chance to travel away from the city and the light pollution, when the sky is so dark and endless and the stars are just so bright and there’s just so many. If we travel far enough we can even spy the Milky Way. The first time we did, we kind of cried heh.

If you and your f/o won a million dollars in the lottery, what would you two do with it?Sans really wants to move out of our apartment, it’s a bit…cramped for Papyrus’ tall energetic self and it kind of shows, he’s been less rambunctious. Pretty sure the first thing we’d all agree on doing is buy a house, a nice and big one with a huge backyard for Paps’ and Undyne’s training sessions. Then we’d save the rest away for bills and the like, I’m too cautious about money to go splurging it on materialistic items, of course that doesn’t mean I’ll stop Sans from dipping into it to spoil his brother or I.

Do you and your f/o have any inside jokes?Hohoho boy do we. Everything and anything we say to each other has the potential to be an inside joke. One more prominent one happens to be whenever he offers me a hotdog…not ‘Dog, a hotdog. I’m not elaborating how it came about, but I’ll bust up laughing like an idiot if he ever just casual offers me a hotdog.

How would you react if your f/o dabbed? Alternatively, how would your f/o react if you dabbed?We’re both meme loving fucks, but we’re both pretty over the novelty of a dab, often we’ll do it to teasingly mock each other or make the other cringe.

Would you and your f/o ever go cryptid hunting together?Actually, as soon as Sans had heard of all the known cryptids he had told King Asgore and Tori, and they’d started a search party for them. As it turns out, most cryptids like Big Foot, the Yeti, the Kraken/Giant Squid and the Lockness Monster we’re all actual monsters that had managed to avoid being sealed in Ebott and had stayed in hiding. Asgore had been especially happy to learn about Big Foot, or Po as he’s actually called, cause apparently they were old friends!

Who would you and your f/o go on double dates with?Every other time Sans and I go on a date it’s a double with Alphys and Undyne! Though they were originally more Undyne’s idea we all grew to really like going out together, since Undyne and I are pretty great buddies, and Sans and Alphys had wanted to catch up since Sans had quit working in the lab. They’ve actually wasted a few dates talking nerd with each other, but that’s okay, Undyne and I love to sit back and admire when they both get really passionate.

What’s something you and your f/o disagree on?Oh here we go…Sans absolutely HATES it whenever I’ve jumped in during a confrontation with a particularly…racist human and taken a hit for him, or just gotten involved in general since it’ll either end with me rage crying or getting a bit overly aggressive. I on the other hand don’t plan on stopping anytime soon, he only has a single HP! One hit and he’s gone! Sure he’s good at dodging but there’s always that slim chance…not to mention confrontations like that always leave him feeling a little down on himself. It’s lead to a few fights about monster human relationships, he’s tried to break up with me for “my own good” but I never took it seriously, he was just being insecure about being a monster.

What’s a movie you and your f/o like to watch together?Alright! Back to happy things! It made him uncomfortable the first time I showed him the movie but he really likes Monster’s Inc, the prequel not as much though. He also has a real liking towards Spirited Away, says Chihiro reminds him of Frisk.

Do either of you want matching tattoos? If so, what would you get?I draw all over my arms when I’m bored, swirling patterns and the like, Sans will relent and let me draw on his if I run out of room. That’s the closest we’ll ever get to matching tattoos since Sans can really get them.

Which one of you spends the most money on the other?Sans, without a doubt. He spoils me way too much.

Do you and your f/o like to dance together?Aha! I don’t like to dance but if we’re ever at a dance party Sans’ll pull me onto the dance floor and do an awkward shuffle until I join him, laughing. He does it to tease me, the jerk.

What animal can you and your f/o agree on being the cutest?CATS. And if I had it my way we’d be proud parents of several fur babies, but Papyrus doesn’t approve of pets, they ‘make too much mess.’

When (if) you and your f/o live together, what thing do you always have to have in the house?Neither Sans or I are too materialistic, but the brothers have a soft spot for their Bone painting (apparently Paps painted it as a Baby Bones) so wherever we move, the painting comes. Now, something both Sans and I need to be in the house with us is Papyrus…see we kind of bring out the worst in each other, and you’d find us in the kitchen at 2am destroying the place while trying to make Fry-Pizza Burritos if Pap wasn’t there to reign us in.

Who’s the best at comforting the other when they’re afraid?Sans, definitely. All he has to do is hold my hand and I’m immediately calm and smiling.

Do you and your f/o play video games together? If so, what games?We share an intense love for Pokemon and the LoZ series, we’ll often race to see who can finish a game first. Something recent that I introduced Sans to, though, was Skyrim and he’s lost himself to it.

Who gets scared and calls the other to kill a spider?Oh we’re both shit scared of spiders. Though Sans is just cause he owes Muffet money heh, so Papyrus is usually the one who picks the little guy up and puts them outside.

Do you two like pineapple on pizza or no?We both agree that any and all pizza is good, except that pea and mayo shit, keep that away.

Do you and your f/o ever dream about each other?Heh, yup. Apparently, if we’re ever apart Sans will dream about me a lot.

How did you two meet?I went to check out the grand re-opening of Grillby’s on the surface, cause who wouldn’t wanna check out a monster bar? Lucky for me I just happened to sit in the bar seat Sans rigged with a whoopy cushion, needless to say when Sans sat down next to me wheezing with laughter, I took it as a personal challenge. Grillby’s had never witnessed so many puns in one night. I got his number and we were Pun Pals from then on.

When did you two start falling in love?Me? Oh night one, Sans has that type of loveable goofball personality that attracted me to him right away! It didn’t really develop into real, deep love until a few months later. Sans said it took him a bit to really start liking me, since he was still unsure about new humans, but really in retrospect a month isn’t that long.

Who says “I love you” first?Sans, on accident, after I first took him out of the city to stargaze. We were both kind of emotional and I guess it got away from him and he ended up whispering it to me. Hah, You should have seen how blue he got after.

When confronted with a dangerous situation, who jumps in front of the other to protect them?Sans is an expert dodger, so he tends to pull people out of the way of danger, rather than take a hit. I don’t really think before I act and just instinctively jump in front of him to take a hit, which has resulted in more than a few injuries. But hey, when your boyfriend only has a single HP you tend to be reckless.

It was a cold winter day, the school day had just ended, you were meeting with Shiemi to get some hot chocolate and watch anime. You two were heading back to her dorm when Rin and his friends popped up and started pelting you with snow balls.

Shiemi tried to hide while you pelted the boys back with snowballs, it was a pretty unfair battle four to two, but hey it was fun none the less. After a while you surrendered knowing you couldn’t win, the boys asked if you two wanted to build snowmen afterwards. You figured anime could wait a little, Rin found a nice spot and started to build. Shiemi went to help him and you awkwardly started to build one alone a little ways off, Shima watched you for a bit before he came over to help. You were rather surprised by it at first, but grateful all the same.

Once you finished he stepped back and complimented your building skills with a smile, he offered to take you out for some more hot chocolate, you of course knew he always asked girls out, but how could you turn down free hot chocolate on a cold day, so you agreed. The two of you left the others to finish building the snowman army, he talked casually about anime and games as you walked. You found yourself enjoying his company for the most part maybe he flirted a little too much, but that was just him. He gave you his phone number before you two parted ways that night and you gave him yours, he texted you practically as soon as he got home and teased you about going on another date. Well you did end up going on another and another and another.

Children

You have a daughter, she is 5′6 with long brown hair the same color as yours, her eyes are somewhat hazel. She wants to dye her hair teal and possibly get her ears pierced, but she isn’t sure so she has not asked either of you yet.

She loves to read, especially fantasy novels with faeries in them, she really likes folklores too. She is very fascinated by mythical creatures and likes trying to sketch them.

She is very outgoing like Shima and has no trouble making friends, Shima makes sure boys stay away from her too. She is very bubbly and easy to excite, she also loves to talk about what she loves all the time. She likes to write poetry about nature.

Cunzy1 1: Did you play any of the other Elder Scrolls games? Richie: Well, Skyrim, to death, but back in the day I did play Morrowind, but it suffered very heavily from PC-game-itis. Relying heavily on keyboard and mouse interaction on the hud, it ended up feeling more like a fantasy game overlayed with an excel spreadsheet. Additionally the game just had awful GFX spindly jagged polygon people. Its a game I tried hard to like, but in all of it's great effort, it just went into too much detail to the nth-degree, even just to barter a sale involved cumbersome stats and boxes on the screen! Given how long I spent on Oblivion, I feel if I did the same thing for Morrowind it would have been tenfold that time. Cunzy1 1: What got you playing? Richie: Doppelganger had a copy of it, he embraced it and charged through the game as a (mostly) righteous battle mage style character, as he was playing I found myself thinking how much I wanted to make a less righteous character... Richie: Neither, I played as an Argonian named Lizardboy, mainly because you don't really get to play as a lizard in many games, but also the Argonian racial ability of being able to breathe underwater really appealed, as I had seen drowning cause so much pain to Doppelganger. Oblivion is a lot more free with classes, it's tough to give a high level explanation the system... there are preset classes, but classes just defined by your primary skills. So if you tell Oblivion you wanna be a 'Healer' it will focus on making your primary skills "Regeneration" and such. Similarly if you wanna be a Knight it will focus on "Swords" and "Heavy Armour" and similar. But of course you should can just go in and make whatever class you want. For Lizardboy the focus was (and frankly is for all my Bethesda characters) long range combat, and sneaking about. The weapon of choice was Bow and Arrow, and gearing all enemy encounters to allow me to creep past them, or take them out with one shot, often causing the person they were talking with to exclaim, "What was that!" then remain where they are, looking down at a corpse muttering "must have been the wind". Yes I was that prick. Cunzy1 1: Didn't Oblivion have that issue with enemy level scaling, so the environment levelled up as you did, so were you inclined you could run the whole game at level 1? Richie: I mean, there wasn't really anything wrong with enemy scaling, yes if you levelled up, a new subset of enemies were available and you were going to have a challenge on your hands! But with that came better armour weapons etc. Now, levelling is an odd beast in Oblivion, it is actions that dictate how you level up. As I mentioned before your character gets skills these skills can be Primary or secondary and as these skills progress so do you, but they require actions. So if you want to improve your swords you need to successfully hit things with a sword. Remaining at lvl 1 would be a hard task! Almost everything from fighting, jumping, walking, speaking to people or picking herbs are skills, and doing any of these things can actively level you up. So you could fuck yourself up, pick thousands of herbs, then get to lvl 100 in herbs, and that will make that combat after a level up pretty harsh. That being said the game offers an unpunishing slider of difficulty if you have messed up your build and need to rectify it by hitting your sword off some enemies for a while. Cunzy1 1: How does the main story work with such a massive free roaming game like this? Richie: Well and the fun thing with Oblivion, You can just walk away from the main quest. In my original game I had become a Thief, Assassin, head of the mages college, the best fighter in Cyrodiil, and performed silly tasks for a mad god, before the first oblivion gate was even opened! Cunzy1 1: Where does this game stand amongst the Elder Scrolls aficionados? Why wasn't this ported to every machine with a circuit like Skyrim has been? Richie: Um, I think it's only PC/360/PS3 because that what was around at the time, and I think this may have been to adult a game for the Nintendo wii at that point. It has a "healthy" PC fanbase, mods and such, but I think the base game is dated and wouldn't really be worth a port without an overhaul. Cunzy1 1: Touched it since? Would you ever return to it? Please tell me there's a cargo cult of Oblivion true believers out there still keeping this game alive and rejecting Skyrim? Richie: I'm sure there is, though in my opinion Skyrim did everything much better! I would happily play Oblivion again in the Skyrim engine. Like I said, it does need an overhaul. In chatting about this I have actually installed, and then promptly uninstalled Oblivion. Oblivion is of its time, and yes there is a plethora of mods etc. but the deal breaker for me was  the lack of native controller support, it may be trite, but I played this originally on the 360 and the transition to a "PC game" version of this is just too much for me. That being said I have returned many times to Skyrim its great and Lizardboy lives on there, sneaking about on rooftops, and hiding underwater indefinitely !

Dark Souls 2 Review

Yesterday I finished Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin and i have to say it was really good, but so was the first one. Almost nothing changed between the first and the second and, with the first one being good, so was the second. I’ll separate the various aspects of the game into different categories and review those individually because I feel that keeps things organized.

Story: The story of Dark Souls 2 was just as ominous as the first. In this one you play as another wanderer who has cursed themself to become undead to begin the journey to the domination of a land called Drangleic. Over the course of the game, unlike the first, you are able to learn about what happened at Drangleic before you’d arrived from people, scenery, and near the end of the game experiencing memories of the people who were there before you. I’ll try not to spoil anything but I was rather disappointed by the endings. They were exactly the same as the first and added nothing new or different, just changed a few variables such as this being on a different world, and some different characters, and that’s it. I mean, I liked the story, but I also liked the story of the first Dark Souls, and the two ended up being almost identical.

Characters: The characters in this game shared that same depressive visage that they did in the first, though that I’m not saying to hinder it, I think with these similar plots the characters would also be quite similar. To name a few of my favourite; Benhart, a scottish dwarf carrying a big-ass teal greatsword who’s composure never fell even in the face of total hopelessness; McDuff, an insane blacksmith who’s absolutely obsessed with fire; and my favourite, The Emerald Herald, an aspect of fate who tends to speak only things that were the total truth in a pretty calming way. She was definitely the creepiest out of them and I genuinely thought she might be the final boss, but she kept her tutorial-esque demeanor. All-in-all I’d say the characters were all their own person and pretty well developed in their own ways. Oh, except for the final boss who had a single line of dialogue through the whole game... I really think the Emerald Herald would’ve made an excellent final boss.

Gameplay: The gameplay was almost the same as the first with a few mild differences. For the most part there’s exploring and fighting with some puzzle elements as well. The fighting, though, is by far the main part of the game. Most fights consist of strategically dodging and blocking, getting hits in when you can. There’s also spells and ranged weapons, and a large variety of all kinds of weapons with large amounts of different attacks, some even have their own special maneuvers. I really like the gameplay because of its semi-realistic nature. It’s not like an ARPG or a FPS where you can just charge into an army thinking that you’re some badass. You’re gonna die in this game if you do’t do that, and you’ll die regardless eventually. You have to plan out every fight that you come across or you’re doomed, and it’s when things don’t go as expected that you get really worried and don’t want to lose all your souls. That brings me to the next aspect about the game is souls. In this game when an undead creature kills something it takes their souls. Souls can be traded to other undead as a currency for weapons, armour, ammunition (arrows and bolts), and some magical items, or they can be used to level up your character. The reason that it’s so crucial that you spend your souls before you die is because if you die you lose all unspent souls. You can retrieve them at the place you died at, but if you die again before you reach it they’re gone forever. I very much enjoy this style of gameplay, it’s kind of like a Kaizo-Skyrim or something.

Graphics: The graphics were identical to the first, and nothing too special by realism’s standards, but the thing this game does with the graphics that too few games do is make the graphics for the game, not for realism. A few good examples of this are Diablo 2, Dishonored, and Minecraft. The graphics work by making the grim look dire, the deadly look unstoppable, and the beautiful look magnificent. It eccentric-izes everything so perfectly somehow (and I don’t mean that dumb shit AAA games love to do when they just skyrocket the contrast.)

Sound: The sound effects were pretty minimalistic and nothing special. They worked, that’s about all there is to say. The music is also nothing too special, almost totally operatic and only during bossfights except for a select few places. There is one part where you think you’re about to fight the final boss and it turns out creepily otherwise (don’t wanna spoil anything) and it plays a really on=point creepy ambient, but that’s about it.

Dark Souls 2 was pretty much the same game as the first, just with new maps and characters. Don’t get me wrong, I very much enjoyed playing it, it was fantastic, but by the end it was a little disappointing. I still have a couple DLCs that I haven’t played on it yet and a couple classes yet to try, but I’ve already started Dark Souls 3 and hope that one delivers a little more on its story. I hope so, because if I have to power through the stuttery-ass god awful engine that the third game uses for the same story I’ve already played through twice, that;s gonna suck. The game itself is fun though, and I’d recommend it to any patient, persistent, person who loves real-time combat.
