ur hitting us w/ all the fatalistic endings, but is there one where things dont go bad? no heroes, no mortality, no fall? pls spare a crumb of happiness
okay u know I was just going to beg 4 forgiveness and say that Gortcas doesn’t really have a “good” ending (this is still true) because of who they are as people, you know.... men that will just drive whatever they’re doing to such an extreme that I see it as impossible for them to just end normally. Like if it’s not their conquest and need for power driving them to their ultimate fate it’s them as people just ruining each other sooner or later etc etc u know what I mean
BUT… there is more or less an ending to me that I usually enjoy entertaining the most where Cas’ story intertwines with the story of Jace (my main oc. my face. my pfp I know he does exist outside of serving cunt sometimes….) and it's well, not necessarily "happy" but it leaves it open enough that they might just be fine rn 💖
anyways Jace was, while Cas was in the Hells still, Mephistopheles' advisor but clearly for his own gain. I’m not going to elaborate TOO much about who or what Jace is but tldr is that Jace was the one making sure Cas survives long enough to get out of the Hells after he got disgraced and wounded by Mephistopheles and later on functions a bit as an informant about whats going on in the Nine Hells. (Why? Let’s just say Jace is something like a…. Aeon that started to rebel against Ao and the concept of balance and then fell from grace as well, ending up hiding as some common devil with a bit too much knowledge of what might happen) Much later when Cas confronts Bhaal Jace basically offers him a deal where he wants Cas to allow him to take his place as a new God instead and he will give him the powers and position of an Archdevil, basically allowing him to return back to the Nine Hells. Cas, who, as I mentioned before at some point, was VERY scared of losing himself (as in change as a person beyond recognition) if he becomes a God and also having yearned to live freely in the Hells again for ages takes this offer. also because he knows that he’ll be powerful enough down there to extend Gortash’s life or even turn him half immortal as well as long as he has some freedom and access to the Hells secrets/magic again
To me this is the only “ending” to the current plot that is, I suppose, not horrendously tragic because it just leads into another timeline where Cas and Gortash end up fucking around in the Nine Hells instead and begin challenging the Lords of the Nine 4 power (what else do you see them doing. lets be honest) … also Cas finally gets a shot at revenge on Mephistopheles as well 🙏 I'm not saying whatever is going on in the Hells will necessarily end well for them but it ALLOWS for a slightly better final end which I will not write. be free kings, try not to die horribly🔥

okay here’s a consideration for a better ending of supernatural but im not a writer LOL so im just gonna do it list form cause why not
everything up to where chuck tells sam, dean, and jack they are the last three people on earth stays the same
we see dean passed out from drinking on the bunker floor as well, just like what happened in 15x19, but the shot lingers a little longer making it clear this event is notable
jack, sam, and dean defeat chuck the same was as 15x19, but are a little more emotional about cas, eileen, and everyone else that’s part of their family, telling chuck they’re doing this for cas, eileen, jody, donna, claire, charlie, etc. and all the ones they lost along the way
jack puts everyone back on earth and we see that everything is chill with people, including miracle
jack teleports everyone back to the bunker (yes still including miracle)
everyone is relieved, but suddenly sam becomes very upset, realizing he has to go find eileen, and starts to head to leave the bunker
jack tells sam to wait, he thinks he can help, and zaps eileen to the bunker
eileen and sam make eye contact and run into each others arms
we get some fluffy stuff here, some “i thought i lost you” comments
dean is looking at sam and eileen with affection, kind of like in what is and what should never be when he was looking at sam and jess announcing their engagement
but dean is clearly envious of what’s going on, and the fact that he misses cas is blatantly obvious
jack notices dean is upset and goes over to him while sam and eileen continue talking and whatever in the background
jack asks dean what’s wrong, but dean is hesitant to answer - it’s okay because jack answers for him, simply saying “cas”
dean immediately meets jack’s eyes and asks if he’s able to bring him back from the empty
jack says he thinks he might be able to if he can talk to the empty, and dean says he’ll go with jack to the empty to get cas back
they tell sam and eileen the plan, who decide to stay at the bunker to hold down the fort and spend some time together
jack teleports himself and dean to the empty and they begin wandering around calling for cas hoping to find him
jack has god senses so he’s like “this way” and leads dean towards cas
cas is lying asleep on the ground of the empty, and dean starts running for him calling his name
the empty stops dean in his tracks and says they’re not taking cas and she’s pissed she’s even awake right now
dean is upset (what else is new) and the empty notices
to get him worked up, the empty tells dean the reason cas is here, the reason he’s dead is because of him, and she knows dean knows that it’s true
cut to a flashback scene from after chuck told them they were alone on earth, and dean is trying to pray to cas, saying he should have showed how much he cared about cas, that he needs him here now, and that he’s sorry for ever letting cas think he couldn’t have what he wanted most, hence the drinking and passing out from earlier
cut back to the empty, and dean looks extra defeated and guilty
jack says something along the lines of “enough” and forces the empty to pay attention to him. he says he will put the empty back to sleep if she gives them cas back. the empty says she’ll agree but only on the terms that she gets to keep cas’s grace as a reminder to dean that he is the reason cas would never be himself again, would never be whole again
jack agrees to the deal before dean can really get a word in, and with a flash of light or something the empty is back to sleep and cas, dean, and jack are back in the bunker
cas is confused to be alive, questioning what’s going on
dean: “cas we need to talk.” jack excuses himself to go check on sam and eileen
there’s a commercial break or a cut or something so we don’t hear dean explain everything to cas, but we do hear cas say something like “so. i’m human?”
dean apologizes. cas says there’s nothing to apologize for, but he’s confused because without his powers he’s going to be useless to the winchesters
dean stops him and tells him that it’s not about his powers, that he’s more than just a baby in a trench coat. he tells cas that he never knew how to feel about his feelings for cas because he didn’t even know if cas could love him like that, that he was worth loving. and he reiterates that cas is worth loving, that cas has taught him so much about how to be a good person and how to be free. dean ends by saying “i love you too”
perchance they kiss
cut to sam, eileen, and jack in the bunker kitchen making dinner, and dean and cas walk in the room, dean’s arm around cas’s waist
sam, eileen, and jack share a knowing and approving look, to which dean responds with some cheeky comment like “yeah, yeah take a picture it’ll last longer you weirdos”
then the five of them sit down for the meal sam and eileen have made with similar camera work as when cas, sam, and dean were drinking and eating after jack died; it’s just happy and everyone’s laughing and having a good time. maybe a few shots of sam and eileen or dean and cas just looking absolutely in love
the camera eventually pans away from the table, the shot including sam, eileen, dean, cas, jack, and miracle and the credits roll

okay um sjdghs yeah thank you for not being mean or thinking I was mean cause I really wasn't! I do really like your blog (we are mutuals and I *think* you know me by name) but zjdgsh jack still isn't Cas coded for me, tbh. He might LOOK like Cas but sjdgsh his literally story was based on his powers othering him (sam), killing his mother (sam) and eventually being manipulated into doing something bad by accident and no bad intentions (sam). he is also infused with very obvious daddy issues (the sam kind more than the Cas kind) and if you thjnk about it I prommy there's not a lot of similarities between his and cas's personalities (except for that they're both wonderful and I love them but that's beside the topic) like Cas plotlines usually go like: huge sacrifices for love, hugely misguided attempts to make everything right, loss of powers leaving him abandoned. while sam (and jack) plot lines are the opposite because it's the ABUNDANCE of power that leaves them abandoned (by Dean, cough, cough) and while cas's powers are seen as desirable throughout the show (when they ARE seen, of course :/) sams were evil and Jack's were evil and they were supposed to be thought of as evil (by us, the narrative and dean) for using them ! So...yeah? also sjdgshs I hear you on the Dean not being a John girl just because he wanted his affirmation so bad and would do anything he said for it — but the jack Dean situation is not exactly the same because the moments that they use to show us that jack loves Dean aren't ones where dean has any expectations from him to be/do good per se???? it's things like fishing and being a dork on a case and they "make jack the happiest he's been" so...? (Plus I DO believe that jack really wanted Dean's approval and Dean to think of him as good, and family but it just...isn't in the same way as John. Dean WAS a dick to jack and it might johncode him but Jack's behavior doesn't s1-dean code him 🥺) so im gonna stick with jack being a samcoded deangirl who looks a lot like Cas actually ajdgshs (also yeah Dean is both a samgirl and a casgirl, he has the range, although you saying he HAS to be a samgirl cause they're blood is kinda weird because I really do think he loves and stans sam as family (in a COMPLETELY non incestuous way oh god) and not just because he has to cause of the script (like some bloggers these days think...which just. what show did you even watch bestie) but yeah. also, if we had to choose, I'd definitely choose sam as a casgirl. Because he appreciates him and looks up to him and cas's opinions really matter to him and he believes in him and wamts him to come home and thinks of him as best friend and family :)
Listen bestie. I get your points, I'm willing to say that Sam's a Casgirl bc he loves his bestie and always tries his best to give him the benefit of the doubt, maybe even more than Dean's done.
HOWEVER. Let's go back to the part where you don't think Jack is Cascoded because their plotlines don't match. (Also; Sam didn't kill his mom. Azazel killed her 6 months after his birth. As for the manipulation thing; that happened to all three of them at some point.)
Let's look at your namings of Cas's plotlines:
huge sacrifices for love
Jack literally gave his life/was ready to give his life to save the Winchesters&Castiel on multiple occasions. He kneeled down before Dean's gun because he felt he deserved it, he wanted to kill himself in 13x23 to save Sam and the others, and his entire arc in season 15 was about sacrificing himself to kill God and Amara. So that Sam and Dean could finally be free.
hugely misguided attempts to make everything right
point I mean; this speaks for itself. Things go wrong and Jack always tries to fix it, even if it doesn't turn out well. A GREAT example is everything that went down with him and Dumah; him trying to make Heaven a better place (making angels, killing non-believers, etc) because he believed it'd make Sam and Dean happy, and it would redeem him from killing Mary. In fact, his soulless arc was pretty close to Cas's Godstiel arc. I could even pull up a few parallels for you.
loss of powers leaving him abandoned
He lost his powers in season 14. And yes, he wasn't left on the streets like Cas was. HOWEVER, he felt just as lost and abandoned as he did. Not physically but definitely emotionally. He had no one to connect with and felt useless and hopeless. He stole someone's grace afterwards, though, just like a certain angel we all know and love.
I get what you mean and Sam and Jack do have similar story arcs. But Jack has similar story arcs with all three of them, and he shares all their characteristics because he's their son. All three boys are his dads, but he only has one father and that's Cas. I just think he happens to share more of Cas's personality because he has the same squints, the same awkwardness around humans, the same confusion about specific trivia and the same love for the Winchesters.
Let's just agree to disagree at this point sjkfjsdklf we could go on and on about this.
I enjoy this, though <3 this is fun. I love getting to talk to you ppl about this stuff :D

can't stop thinking about how an ending where dean "retires" by going to a remade heaven and sam stays on earth makes perfect sense like......not only thematically, but also aligns perfectly with what a lot of jensen and jared have been saying.
like jared mentioned how we'd all be crying during the final scene (i believe he also said that 'the tears you see in that scene are real' in reference to character/actor emotional blur, but don't quote me on that) which is super interesting to me cause you'd think that if sam and dean end up alive/in heaven together, there'd be less a sense of sadness and more a sense of peace. and then there's the fact that sam and dean saying a goodbye is very similar to how jensen and jared are saying a goodbye after fifteen years on the show, which could very well explain why jared said that the actor/character lines got blurry in that final scene.
and then there are some of jared's other comments about the ending, ie that the last time jared and jensen see each other "is the last time sam and dean see each other" or something along those lines, which might be a reference to that real life/fictional parallel.
and then there's jensen's comments about how he felt about the ending initially.....like how he struggled with it/had to go to kripke. and since i believe he's expressed a sort of peace with the brothers separate at the ending before, my theory is that dean actually chooses to move on, whereas i think jensen might've been envisioning an ending where dean sacrifices himself or something along those lines.
and then there's how jensen said he couldn't see how the show could go on after how it ends (makes sense if dean is dead/in heaven) while jared said it felt more like "goodbye for now" like the fact that he even used the word "goodbye......" and if his character is on earth it makes sense that he'd see things a bit differently. also notable is how jared, when asked about jensen's thoughts about the finale, mentioned that he thought that jensen was just a little unsure as to "how they would get there" (the ending), and how once jensen sort of realized what the writers were doing, he calmed down a little. to me this speaks to the show's intense focus on dean and cas this season, and makes me think that jensen was a little unsure as to why dean would choose heaven (and cas) when sam is still alive/on earth. but once he realized what the writers were planning to do with the deancas arc, he saw that it wasn't coming out of left field/that it made narrative sense and relaxed a little.
a smaller, related thing to consider: when jensen was asked what he was most excited to tackle this season with dean, he immediately answered cas. he sort of tacked on a joke ("full body tackle") but his initial response seemed very genuine.
tying into all of this is misha's comments when asked about a reboot/spinoff in the future, where he mentioned how resurrection is always possible on spn, like i know most people took that to mean that cas is dead but like......this is literally a running joke on the show, that no one stays dead, and i think it could easily be a reference to the cast of characters as a whole, and it makes a lot of sense for him to say this if both dean and cas are dead/in the afterlife.
speaking of cas, whether he's is in the remade heaven too is up for debate, but to me the ending of dean retiring to the afterlife makes so much sense regardless of where cas fits in. like, of course i want them to be together (that's my literal dream ending) but i think that even if cas is somehow permanently separated from tfw, dean will still end up in heaven. and honestly, just thinking about it now, all the evidence that supports the dean in the afterlife theory is actually good evidence that cas, although he might be dead by the end of the show, will end up in heaven too, since i think that it might take more than the promise of peace/retirement to make dean choose heaven. i think that it might be because of cas being in heaven (my theory is that he escapes the empty, but we discover that he has a human soul, hence all the hints we've had this season about his failing grace, and he can't go back to earth and live, but he can go to heaven) that dean chooses to retire, along with him wanting peace after finally defeating god.
in fact, if we want to go even further (this is getting so long i'm so sorry) i feel like this narrative move makes sense from the pov of the showrunner because it would basically canonize deancas without actually canonizing it.....like of course i want explicit canon, but this path would enable the show to basically give us endgame deancas without confirming it as romantic, which is frustrating but would ultimately be less divisive for the show's audience. like the showrunners/writers are all too aware of how many of us want it to be canon, and this way we sort of get that in a way that wouldn't necessarily alienate/piss off other viewers.
idk i could very well be wrong about this but taking into account the comments jensen and jared have made it just makes a ton of sense to me, and that's without getting into how it makes thematic/narrative sense, too (pilot parallel: sam and dean meeting up vs. sam and dean separating, sam's ability to lead a normal-ish life vs. dean's inability to do so, the inclusion of eileen in the last season, etc.)

hi! i just read your fic, After Dark (for the second time, it’s amazing, easily going into my top five favorite fics of all time, your writing and characterization of dean especially is phenomenal and knocked me off my feet), but i’m still a little fuzzy on the ending. if you find time, could you possibly explain? thank you so much, your writing is beautiful
Okay, so I know I’ve had this ask for a while. I haven’t been ignoring you. It’s just that this fic is one of those stories that was so consuming when I wrote it, I have a hard time diving back in when I get asks. It was my Everest. I was obsessed with finishing it but kept trying to die at the top of the mountain (so to speak).  I started writing it in June 2015 and didn’t finish it until December 2018. I have sooooo many notebooks filled with notes and rewrites for this story, it’s almost embarrassing. And, you’ve read it, so you probably know why: it’s INVOLVED. I mean, the very first chapter gives you the most important line from the penultimate chapter of the book.
So, yes. You know what? Let’s talk about After Dark. I’m ready.
Tumblr media
Spoilers after the cut
I’m gonna do my best here to clear things up, but since you’re specifically asking about the end of the fic, I won’t do a complete chapter by chapter breakdown of the plot. Let’s instead pick up at Chapter 19 with a little more of a abridged version.
In 19, we finally get our Sam breakdown of what he’s been trying to figure out from the beginning– why it struck him as odd that Dean and Cas had hooked up this time over all the times before. He realizes that the general assumption that God was the light that beat back the darkness wasn’t actually a metaphorical idea, but was, in fact, a literal one. God wasn’t the thing that conquered the Dark, the light he yielded was. That light was Love. Fun side note: The sources Sam cites in that chapter to support his theory are all actual academic sources/philosophical ideas. You can look any of them up to find out more about love as a daemon, or The Unity of Opposites theory. So, Dean now knows that Cas is being used by Alice for something, but doesn’t know what.
Ch 20: Alice explains that the only thing that can save Dean’s soul from its eternal fate with the Darkness is if he’s “released” (so to speak) by his light. She says that the way it works is through Cas’ ultimate broken heart.
“If he takes you, you don’t die out of hate, or spite, or fear,” she whispered. “There’s no jealousy or malice or revenge. You die in stark contrast to all those things. It’s the opposite of everything he’s ever wanted for you— Wanted with you. Everything he’s ever hoped or dreamed or fought for; he does it only because he loves you, and it’s that selflessness that cleanses the shadows. It’s the power of a broken heart.”
It’s Cas’ sacrifice that will save Dean’s soul. Alice is careful to tell Dean that he was never going to survive this. Cas  and everyone else is supposed to, but for Dean, it was always just a matter of where his soul ended up.
Cas, of course, says he’ll do it and that Dean needn’t ask, because there’s not really a choice here.
Ch 21: We pick back up with an echo of Rowena and realize that everything she told him in Chapter 2 actually came true. (weird, right?)
Ch 22: Cas wakes up at “the start”, only, this time’s he’s fundamentally changed from the journey. It’s in this chapter that we find out why Cas was getting glimpses from the ‘end of the story’ throughout the book:
Angels are ethereal. They’re not contained to a specific timeline–this is something they’ve talked about in canon. It was ONLY while Cas had his grace AND was actively dying that he was able to see snippets of the things that would happen after the events in Chapter 20. (IE: the dream he had in Chapter 8 of Crowley, the dream in Ch 15 where he’s walking across the field where the Winchesters crashed, even though he hadn’t actually been there yet, etc)  It turned out he wasn’t actually seeing or speaking to Rowena. She was more a figment of his subconscious as he tried to warn himself where this story was going. Unfortunately, there wasn’t really any way for him to stop the train. HOWEVER,
In Cas’ lame attempt to keep from drowning Dean like “The Fish” Rowena kept calling him, he’d made the conscious decision to give Dean some “wings” in Chapter 15. The grace had proven threatening/effective enough in the fight against the Darkness to that point, that it had spent the entire story trying to snuff Cas out. It was also the only element keeping Cas from becoming infected by the Darkness the same way Sam and the rest of the people were, which is why Cas quickly became infected after extracting it.
So, when Dean got the grace in Chapter 15, it was enough to pull him back out of the Darkness’ grip and bring him back to life.
When Cas comes out the other side of the spell in this chapter, alive, as he was supposed to be, he realizes that everything had reset like Alice said it would– Except for him. He was still wearing the same clothes, and still dying from his own self-inflicted knife wound (sans Darkness insanity). (Dean, remember, was not supposed to reset. The actions he took during the fic were always supposed to be permanent for him.)
It’s then that Cas understands that it’s not over yet; they’re still fundamentally connected through Cas’ grace, and that means, there’s a CHANCE that Dean’s still alive too (and with Cas’ grace). He asks Crowley to teleport him to the field he saw in his dream and it’s here that he finds Dean, still clinging to life and staring up at the newly found stars.
Cas rallies his grace one last time by laying a hand on the burn mark left on Dean, and uses the rest of it to save him. Then, the very exhausted, very exsanguinated human Cas topples over in the field.
Ch 23: is probably where I lost you and I’m gonna tell you, it’s very intentional that I’ve made you unsure.
It starts with a dreamlike Cas in the field staring at the back of an ambulance bed. There are elements of the Darkness around him, filtering into the sky. He panics when he thinks it’s Dean on the back of the stretcher dead, but specifically points out the bare feet (Dean was in socked feet. It was mentioned multiple times in Chapter 18-20). Alice then comes out of nowhere and tackles him to the ground. She’s our dream stand-in for the things the EMTs are doing to save Cas in that moment (Cas was the one with bare feet) while she warns him that the Darkness is not gone. She tells him she’s proud of him for finding a loophole, but that he shouldn’t believe he’s won. He should, in fact, fear the opposite.
“…it doesn’t matter how fucking proud of you I am for finding it” she says. “The truth of the matter is, it’s gonna take what it’s owed— Or try… ”
Cas then wakes up in Dean’s bed and Dean tells him he was having another nightmare. It’s established at this point that Cas has been having a lot of them since becoming human. So much so, that Dean is practiced in dealing with bringing Cas back down. Cas gets frustrated with the situation and with himself and goes to wander through the bunker and get water. Dean chases after him, like the good caretaker he is.
Cas tells Dean that he doesn’t believe it’s a nightmare. He believes that the conversation with Alice really happened and that the Darkness is not gone, but, maybe, lying in wait either to attack again, or, even, MAYBE, that it already has him… (Not Dean, but Cas this time. Like a trade.)
This leaves us, the reader with the uneasy feeling that that might be true. We’re in Cas’ POV and the last we saw him, he was face down in a field bleeding out from a wound he was probably not gonna be able to recover from. If he’s not sure what’s real and what’s a dream, then how can we be? This is amplified by the fact that everything Cas has done in the story to this point has been proven true, so we want to believe him. But his unsureness feels so much more like the answer we don’t want.
Our unease is punctuated by small things like 1. Dean wearing a purple shirt* when Cas had specifically named that as a color he’d never seen Dean wear before (Ch 19). And then, of course, 2. the fact that his coat is there when it shouldn’t be. Did Alice leave it? Why would she leave it? How could she leave it?
We’re left, like Cas, not sure if the story has ended like it appears to have ended. We’re unsure if they both made it out safe. If they’re really together. And with everything so damn woven, how can we just have these plot holes????
But, that’s also kind of the nature of the trauma Cas has endured. And, if he wasn’t really living this moment with Dean, then why is he healing slowly from his wounds? Why is he out of breath before he gets to the kitchen? (You know how it is when you’ve been laid up for a long stint. EVERYTHING IT HARD.)
So, you, like Cas, find yourself placing your trust in Dean as he reassures Cas that it wouldn’t matter if it’s not over.
“Because you an’ me, we’re unbreakable.”
And now this is where you really hate me because I’m not going to tell you one way or the other. I’m gonna let the story speak for itself. I will say that I would NEVER want to put them through all of that if they couldn’t live in the sunshine on the other side, though.

Dear Smut4Smut creator
Letter for the 2021 Smut 4 Smut exchange
My AO3 profile: sidewinder
Thank you for writing or creating art for me! I know I’ll be thrilled with whatever you come up with for any of my requests. (And if I babble on or have more prompts for one ship than another, don’t take that as any kind of preference. Some I just am more specific in the kinds of smutty scenarios I’m requesting/wanting at this time, but I love them all the same.)
Please consider the requested tags all the “prompt” you need if so inspired, if none of my suggested scenarios and ideas inspire you. Also, of course, feel free to combine them or use only one as you see fit!
General Likes
Non-penetrative sex (especially in first-time scenarios). I love extended kissing scenes, frottage, mutual hand jobs, characters so turned on and overwhelmed that they come from barely being touched/before they can get all their clothes off, etc.
Romantic smut more than really kinky smut (though a bit of light bondage/restraint can be fun!)
That said, I have a definite weakness for wing!kink and tentacles... where appropriate :)
Generally stoic/repressed/strong characters breaking down and needing comfort/hugs/acceptance of their vulnerabilities
Inverted relationship power dynamics - in the sense of a seemingly older and/or more powerful character actually being less experienced in sex/romantic relationships, or having more doubts & insecurities, and needing the younger/less powerful character to take the lead or reassure them.
In art - I really love all styles of fan art and just seeing how different artists interpret my favorite characters. Seriously, and that’s not just a cop-out because I’m crappy at coming up with art-specific prompts.
General Do No Wants
A/B/O dynamics, mating heats
animal abuse/death
anything related to pregnancy/childbirth
formalized BDSM relationships
non-canon gender identities and/or sexual orientations except gay/bi/pan for requested ships/characters
scat/watersports
unrequested alternative-universe scenarios such as high school/genderswap/coffee shop/etc (however, canon-divergent AUs completely fine!)
Supernatural-Castiel/Dean Winchester
Fandom-specific Do Not Wants: Bad ending/unhappy-ever-after, Sam-bashing, any suggestions of Wincest
I confess I am a very new Destiel-shipper/SPN fan, having only gotten into the show late last year (post-finale.) So while I know there are mountains of stories already written about this ship, sometimes it’s nigh impossible to dig through it all to find stories that scratch the specific fic cravings I have. Hence all the prompts/ideas for them here, some of which I’m sure have been done to death already...but please humor me :)
Long Prolonged Make-Outs
Kissing All Over
Frottage
First Time Sex is Non-Penetrative
First Time with Partner of the Same Gender
Experience - Experienced/Inexperienced
Experience - Experienced Partner Lets Inexperienced One Explore Them
Playful Sex
Morning After (Incredible Sex the night before)
I love everything about newly-human!Cas in season 9 (and Cas’s hedonistic tendencies in general). I have to imagine that, as a human, he just feels things with an intensity that angels just don’t feel, as if with human lifetimes so condensed, their senses are intensified to make up for it in a way that would be overwhelming for a hugely powerful/nearly immortal creature like an angel.
So give me any story about Cas’ exploring and fully embracing the sensual pleasures of sex (with Dean). I love Season 9 canon-divergence fics where Dean lets him stay in the bunker. Perhaps after his first taste of sex with April, Cas wants to add to his experiences by having sex with a male-bodied human/someone he deeply cares about (ie, DEAN). Dean may still be struggling with his own internalized homo/bi-phobia but it’s hard for him to resist Cas with his insatiable curiosity about how the human body works, having no filters/no taboos and just wanting to taste/touch/experience until he/they both are completely overwhelmed.
Wings as Erogenous Zones
Wing Kink
I love wings and true-form Cas as well. In fact I’m totally okay with canon-compliant, post-finale fic in Heaven if it means Dean can finally see/experience Cas’s true form (or at least glimpses/parts of it) without dying (because, you know, already dead and all that.) Otherwise, I’m always up for AUs where Dean can sense/feel/see Cas’s wings (if Cas wants him to) and they are an incredible erogenous zone for the angel. Maybe even his most powerful one.
Touching All Over
Touch-starved character overwhelmed from seemingly innocent touches
Touch-starved
Awkward First Times
Trauma Recovery
thank god you're/we're alive sex
Tender Sex with Lots of Eye Contact & Barely Repressed Feelings
Tender Sex
Shame in Sexual Desires
Room-Wrecking Sex
Reunion Sex
Characters mutually pining finally get together and have amazing sex
Desperate Sex
Sex gets paused to deal with PTSD then maybe returned to
I’ll take all the Cas-is-back, ignore-the-finale fics that are possible. Give me touch-starved Cas after his rescue from The Empty. (Dean can be fully into immediately satisfying his needs or, for angst, still struggling with/unsure of his feelings/sexuality.) It’s tender and healing, or maybe it’s explosive with all those years of pent-up desire and needs. You tell me, I love it all!
Sex While Washing Off The Blood of Their Enemies
Sex While Covered In The Blood of Their Enemies
sex under the stars
Outdoor Sex
Car Sex - on the hood of a car
Car Sex - in the back seat
Hotel Sex
tender making out in a car
sex after a long car ride
For these tags, I’m thinking canon-divergent future-fic where Dean is getting older (maybe Cas is too, if he’s lost his grace), yet they still go out on hunts together on occasion to relive the “glory days”. (Sam’s happily settled down and out of the hunting life with Eileen). They enjoy post-hunt sex in the outdoors or in/on the car, or seedy motel, reveling in the adrenaline of the kill, reaffirming their need and love for each other. Yum.
Supernatural - Endverse Castiel/Dean Winchester/Endverse Dean Winchester
Desperate Sex
Threesome - M/M/M
Threesome - Character/Crush/Another Version of Crush
Turned On By Violence
One last fuck before you die
Drugs - Drug Use
Time Travel - Sleeping with older/younger version of someone you know in your own timeline
Time Travel - Sleeping with older/younger self
Pairing-Specific DNWs: None here. Go as dark as you want, since it’s Endverse.
Um, yeah. Pretty much what the tags suggest. Dean knows its freaky as hell but maybe he catches his future self and Cas having sex and they invite him in. Maybe he sees it as a chance to be with Cas (even this very different Cas) like he can’t in his own time. Castiel is totally messed up over seeing the man he had fallen in love with (and fallen from grace for) as he had been, back then, and can’t contain himself now that he’s gone so deep into carnal/hedonistic pleasures.
The Orville - Gordon Malloy/Ed Mercer
thank god you're/we're alive sex
"We Lived" Kiss Reveals Feelings
Stranded - On Another Planet/World With No Way Home
Huddling For Warmth Leads To Sex
on the run together
Desperate Sex
One last fuck before you die
Fandom-specific Do Not Want: No Kelly-bashing.
I’d love something set in the alternative universe/timeline of “The Road Not Taken”, where the Kaylons have won, leaving Gordon and Ed on the run together.  Just, any kind of desperate situation where they know they could die at any moment, so they might as well seek whatever comfort, love and tenderness they can find being with each other.
Laughter During Sex
Awkward First Times
Friends to Lovers
First Time Sex is Non-Penetrative
Frottage
Something Made Them Do It
Drugs - Experimental Substance Has Weird Sexual Side Effects
Casual Sex while Secretly Pining
Laughter During Sex
Something fun and silly (and sexy), please, using any of these tags! The show just screams out for tropey “something made them do it” scenarios, be it due to aliens, alien food or drink, whatever. Otherwise I’d love a story where they realize they do have more serious feelings for each other than their (up til then) casual relationship has allowed.
The Good Place - Michael/Eleanor Shellstrop
Tentacles - Tentacle Sex
Tentacles
Xeno - Nonhuman Partner is Ashamed of Their Body
Experience - Experienced/Inexperienced
Awkward First Times
Laughter During Sex
romantic sex
Tentacles - Gentle and Tender Tentacle Sex with Lots of Caresses and Cuddles
Fandom-specific Do Not Wants: No Chidi-bashing (but also, no Chidi/Eleanor endgame references/suggestions).
The ship/canon where I will eternally want tentacle smut! Michael seems so ashamed of his fire-squid demon form. I want him to find out that Eleanor actually finds it kind of a turn-on and would love to find a way she could...experience it. Since we know Michael can create simulations/realities (like he does in “The Trolley Problem”), maybe he can create one where Eleanor can see/experience a version of himself that won’t, you know, destroy the entire neighborhood or burn her to a crisp?
Otherwise I’m good with any kind of first-time scenario in one of Michael’s “reboots” (or later on when they’ve figured things out and are in Michael’s Neighborhood Improvement Experiment). Awkward Michael figuring out his human body’s reactions to Eleanor, them having fun and romantic sex, would definitely make my heart happy.

Who is Belphegor?
I mean, who is he, really? There’s a possibility that he’s exactly what he claims to be, but everything in me is screaming THIS IS A ZEKE SITUATION, and we don’t yet understand his true motives or identity. Since 15.01 aired, I’ve been playing around with theories, and I’ve got it narrowed down to a few I would really enjoy. I think I’ve talked about (or around) each of these theories in my tag for Belphie, and you can go read those posts here for further edification and general waffling on my part.
1. Belphegor. He might actually be exactly what he says he is. I mean, why NOT believe him? Reasons FOR the theory:
because he said so
his general behavior fits what we know about the demon Belphegor in a general sort of way
Reasons AGAINST the theory:
because he said so, and we’re watching Supernatural
the two characters I’ve seen most people ping to in reaction to him are RUBY (who lied about her entire motivation for befriending them and being helpful) and EZEKIEL (who lied about his identity and motives from the moment he showed up, and was actually Gadreel... which went over swimmingly)
his appearance was entirely too ~convenient~ to believe it at face value (he was the ONLY demon to pop out of hell in that mess, conveniently knew the exact spells they needed to get out of that predicament, is REALLY good at manipulating TFW specifically, etc. etc.)
what kind of torturer is AFRAID of the things he tortures? why would a demon fear a human ghost?
What kind of demon would ASK FOR A SACK OF SALT and then handle said salt as if it was nothing?
2. The Shadow. This was one of my first thoughts, even before the episode aired, because of the situation we knew to be true of Jack, where he was at the end of 14.20, and what he was DOING there-- i.e. having a friendly chat with Billie and the Shadow, and what the PR said about Jack feeling conflicted about returning to his body because of guilt. This felt like one of those situations that Billie would need to have HANDLED SOONEST, and the Shadow was conveniently RIGHT THERE to fill in for Jack. We already know he has the power to appear to be other beings (Cas faced him as himself in the Empty, and couldn’t tell he wasn’t Dumah in Heaven, for example), and can theoretically convincingly take on the form of whatever he wants to T-1000 style. That said, Reasons FOR:
Incredibly powerful being who could pull off everything we saw Belphegor do
snarky personality that also lines up with what we saw
INTENSE PERSONAL DIRECT KNOWLEDGE of the contents of Cas’s knowledge bank, his emotions and personality, feelings “i tiptoed through all your little tulips” style
can appear to be other types of beings in a way that Cas can’t perceive his true nature and accepts what he does see as truth
we don’t know the scope of his powers or abilities outside of the Empty or Heaven, or how he would be limited or affected by possessing a human-ish body (explaining his discomfort around a human soul since they aren’t relegated to his domain upon death, and his particular vulnerability to injury and pain in a human-ish body)
The Empty is outside of God’s purview, and therefore he may be able to operate in complete stealth without alerting Chuck to his presence on Earth in a way literally no other being could, making him the ultimate secret agent here
literally ZERO other demons seem to have escaped Hell during this containment breach. Every other being who got out has been a human soul.
Reasons AGAINST:
we just don’t know what he’s actually up to in canon. He could still be in the Empty babysitting Jack (not that we know that would be a limitation on where he could still be, if he could just scoop out a pile of goo-him and send a bit of himself off to animate Jack’s body for a while, but we don’t know if that’s possible, either)
3. Metatron. Based on what we know of how the Empty works, and how Metatron specifically died, there’s a good chance we’re seeing the return of Metatron for one of two separate reasons. He died without grace-- as a human-- so theoretically he would’ve gone to heaven, right? Like Jack did in 14.08? We know the Empty didn’t invade Heaven for HIS soul, though, so there’s a possibility that he may have gone directly to the Empty anyway. Though the way Amara killed him... there’s a chance he was “absorbed” into her (like she stated several other times happened when she “consumed” souls, you know? but we don’t know exactly what happened to Metatron other than he disappeared into a lil poof of darkness, so this is entirely theoretical conjecture). But I’ve long paralleled Amara to the Empty, and I don’t think there’s really a functional difference between being consumed by Amara and being sent to the empty, you know? They are both The Void. I literally JUST wrote this post, which inspired me to make a list in the first place, where you can read my thoughts in detail. Reasons FOR:
talk about someone ready to play foil to Chuck, the writer out of control in desperate need of an editor. Think 11.20, to the nth degree here.
golly he KNOWS Chuck’s whole “writing process,” and NOBODY is more familiar with the entire body of Chuck’s writing, going all the way back to creation
Even after he lost his mojo, he was still proficient in the sorts of spells we saw Belphegor pull out of thin air, you know?
he’s also the exact sort of snarky Belphegor has been
he was weirdly obsessed with Cas’s trenchcoat (lol, abomination) and had a MASSIVE jealous-on for Cas in general
the spell Belphegor used to erect the wall referencing river imagery (the river shall end at its source and all that)
metatron’s reluctance to engage in “direct combat” himself, and his comments to Cas from the get-go that he needed Cas because he’s not a warrior himself, which lines up with the “bad ghost! no!” behavior when faced with a direct confrontation
tangential to the above point, the fact he died HUMAN without supernatural powers would leave him vulnerable to injury from a ghost, as well as the “general pains of humanity” we saw demonstrated when Constance was able to cut his hand and cause him physical pain that way
Metatron, being the Scribe of God who basically possesses not only the knowledge of all of creation and a vast swath of human writings as well, would love the sort of game of pretending to be a specific demon this way, and would love the subterfuge of it all as well
He is REALLY good at this sort of manipulation
theoretically whether he went to heaven or the empty, billie was on hand to fetch him out and sign him up for service
Reasons AGAINST:
we don’t know where metatron went after he died, and if Amara did consume him it might not be possible to have brought him back (unless Amara is also part of this bigger cosmic plotting and helped his return the way she did with Mary, so this might not be a reason against after all)
would Metatron be able to cloak his true identity behind a false mask of a “true demon face” that Cas identified immediately? (unless he was, again, helped along with that by the Shadow or Amara... we don’t know if their powers would extend to that)
it’s a possibility that-- for whatever reason-- his soul did end up in Hell-- whether by nature of his “sins” or by design of some outside force (Bobby ended up wrongfully in Hell, too, so who knows), and he has actually become a demon, but this seems incredibly unlikely... would his soul have been demonized yet? it’s only been a few years... and again, this is pure conjecture for the sake of argument, and not based in anything in canon.
4. Balthazar. I mean, for all the reasons I stated above for Metatron being handy and ready to serve, and possibly getting an assist from Billie or the Empty to cloak his “true identity,” we know he would’ve been handily found in the Empty. Reasons FOR:
Belphegor kinda sounds like Balthazar... especially the way the being himself pronounced it (more like Belphagar)
readily to hand in the Empty and familiar with all the players on the board
broadly fits within the personality of Belphegor, known to have participated in a “menage a... what’s the french word for twelve?” aka an orgy
lol Belphegor is the Infernal Ambassador to France and that would be a hilarious coincidence... >.>
Balthazar is good at subterfuge, resourceful, good at spellwork (he was the one buying human souls in 6.03)
also pretty good at subterfuge and spy work, though Cas did see through him (sadly) and killed him for it once upon a time...
Reasons AGAINST:
would he be able to cloak his true identity? basically apply what I said about Metatron for this one
Belphegor’s speech patterns. He uses a lot of “filler words,” and Balthazar... didn’t. Then again, he uses SO MANY of them that it could be a deliberate affectation
the line about Cas’s trenchcoat (the one in the dirty trenchcoat, who’s in love with you), so he doesn’t have any particular reason to refer to it as an “abomination,” though it’s not entirely out of the question
5. A Random Reaper. Billie may have ordered one of her Reaper Babysitters to make sure Jack’s body remained safe and viable for when he was ready to return, as well as allow one of her reapers to... to quote Dean from 6.09... “interact more forcefully” with creation. Reasons FOR:
would report directly to Billie, and give Billie an on the spot window on the Winchesters
intimately familiar with the Winchesters from having kept tabs on them for the last several years
have the innate ability to control others’ perceptions of them and the world in general, so disguising their true form from Cas would’ve been easy
Reasons AGAINST:
do reapers have any other magical abilities beyond their known functions?
WHY would A REAPER be afraid of a human ghost? Literally their JOB is dealing with human ghosts
I don’t think a reaper would’ve been able to have been injured by a ghost, unless these ghosts have somehow been “supercharged” by the way Chuck forced their souls from hell... one screenshot of the ghost Cas smashed with the big stone slab showed a weird glowy-orange patch on its shoulder, almost as if it had been “marked by Chuck” and granted some sort of special dispensation of powers, like we know all those sorts of “marks” on people have in SPN canon, so this may not be an issue against.
Billie’s own “clean hands” policy for reapers... if that’s something that would still bind their actions if Billie gave them a direct order to play this specific role now.
Other theories I’ve considered are that it could be a specific reaper-- thinking possibly Tessa, since she was already in the Empty, too, and I just love her and hate what happened to her. Or possibly a random other demon, but again most of the reasons I objected to it being Belphegor apply to other demons even more strongly to Random Demon Minion #3, too. It might be a specific demon we’ve known in the past, or someone we’d known as a human who’s since become a demon, but again... that seems highly doubtful. It could also potentially be Goocifer, i.e. dead!Lucifer, but I don’t think the Shadow would’ve allowed him to just trip out of the Empty so easily. Though he did have a connection to Jack, and after death it’s possible his attitude toward everything has... shifted? the way Billie said hers did after ascending to the mantle of Death and she saw a bigger cosmic picture. If he’s had an enlightenment of sorts in death, this could be a possibility, but again... I think it’s less likely than the above notions but not something I can discount entirely, unfortunately. If he’d been “specifically depowered” like he’d been when his grace had been drained, that could explain his ability to have been injured by a ghost, for example, but would he even have the ability to hide his true form from Cas-- an angel he literally knows from the inside out, having possessed him for half a year... >.>
I’ll update this list as canon unfolds. :D

Rogue Angel
Pairing Dark!Cas x Nephilim!Reader
@castielspnbingo – angst
@spndarkbingo – Godstiel
WARNINGS: not much yet…but this is part one…FOR ALL CHAPTERS (just in case): violence, dark!Cas, pregnant reader, dark smut, Dom!Cas, sadism, major character conflicts, injuries to major characters, etc…
Summary: Cas has been infected with demonic venom, and his wife is the only one who might be able to bring him in, before he grows out of control and threatens everything, literally.
Tumblr media
YN stood in front of the bunker, her eyes adjusting to the sunlight while she dusted off her jeans and tee. Taking a deep breath, she closed her eyes and went over the details of her mission. Honestly, she had been shocked when Chuck said yes, she’d been so sure he’d refuse her request. It had nothing to do with her skill set, or her ability to get the job done, more to do with the personal conflict this job presented to her.
YN was the best ‘Celestial Bounty Hunter’ heaven had. She was the one who got the job done, every time, without fail. And when Heaven was out of options, she was the backup plan. And she always succeeded. Except, this time, her job was to contain and bring in her husband. She was to apprehend Castiel.
When Cas had first been infected with the demonic venom, heaven had tried everything to cure it. YN blamed herself, even as Cas swore otherwise. If she’d been paying more attention to her surroundings, Cas wouldn’t have had to push her out of the way. He’d taken the hit for her.
Chuck had tried to send others after Cas, six times to be exact, but none ever returned. They’d all been killed by her husband. YN came to Chuck then, and volunteered, stating that she had a higher chance of staying alive. She was Amara’s daughter after all, half Deity, half human. Chuck had finally relented, but suggested seeking help from the Winchesters, to which YN readily agreed.
YN had met and worked with Sam and Dean numerous times, and trusted them implicitly. They were great hunters, and better still, great friends. She knew they would want to help. Cas was like family to them, and besides, it would be rude not to involve them.
She told Chuck she couldn’t give an exact time for retrieval. YN would need to test the waters first, to see how far gone Cas was. She would need to see how much power he’d gained, and how he reacted to different scenarios, different people.
As she walked toward the bunker door, a tiny bit of doubt surfaced. What if one of both of the brothers got hurt or killed as a result of getting involved in this hunt? YN shook the idea away as quickly as it surfaced. That could never become a reality. It would be too painful, especially for as. Literally, that would break her husband.
She pulled out her phone and dialed Sam. “Hey YN! ‘Sup?” came his cheery voice.
She tried to smile as she spoke. “I’m outside. Would it be ok if I came in?”
“Yeah, always.”
YN hung up and unlocked the door. She was barely down the stairs when she was greeted with hugs and brotherly kisses on the cheek. “Where’s Cas? Haven’t seen him for a couple of days.”
YN looked at Dean, and tears pooled in her eyes. The brothers were horrified, instantly assuming the worst, but YN held up her hand. “He’s not dead. He was poisoned. The venom is playing with his mind, and he’s become dark, dangerous. He’s unstable, and I’ve come to stop him, take him back to Heaven so we can find a cure.”
Dean nodded. “We’re in. Say no more.”
Sam agreed, but YN needed to clarify the situation. “Just so we are all on the same page here, I need to tell you that the venom has also affected Cas’s powers, and continues to change what he can do. I was told that if I couldn’t stop him, I’d have to destroy him, and that isn’t an option for me. But neither is needless sacrifice or heroism. Until we know exactly what we are dealing with, we proceed with the utmost caution.”
Both men nodded their understanding. “We’ll follow your lead, YN.”
YN made the guys some food while they got their stuff together. Mary and Jack came in, greeting YN in a similar fashion as the guys had, giving hugs and warm greetings. YN wished Jack could help as well, it would be good to have another Nephilim as backup, but without his grace, that was not in the cards for this hunt.
YN and the boys backed up the following morning and headed out, but not before she told Jack and Mary to stay away from Cas. She didn’t want anything to happen to them. Mary promised to ward the bunker while they were gone, and Jack promised to help her and keep safe.
With that, the trio set out to find Castiel and stop him. YN leaned her head back against the soft leather seats and tried to find Cas. It didn’t take long. He wasn’t even trying to hide anymore, and that concerned her. He may believe himself too powerful to stop, more powerful than even Chuck or Amara. Maybe he had even developed a God-complex, and that could make him not only dangerous, but also reckless.
Her hand absently rubbed her stomach, flat and trim, but carrying a child, their child. Cas didn’t know yet, she’d never had the chance to tell him. She only hoped she could apprehend and cure Cas before she started to show.
“Feeling ok?” Dean asked, gesturing to her hand movements. “I thought you didn’t get sick.”
“I’m ok Dean. I’m pregnant.”
Both brothers’ mouths fell open. Dean did double-takes between watching the road, and glaring at his friend. “What the hell? And you gave us a pep talk about unnecessary risks?”
YN cut him off. “I’m fine for now, and more than capable of doing my job.”
“Yeah, maybe for now, but what happens when we are forced into months of chasing Cas? You won’t be able to fight.”
YN sighed as she turned to Sam. “I’m hoping to have this done in a week, two at the most.” She paused. “Cas doesn’t know yet, hell my mom and uncle don’t even know. The poison happened before I got the chance.”
“We love you YN, but we’re pretty sure you’ve gone insane.” YN snorted at Dean’s comment, but he glared at her. “If anything happens to the kid because you took risks, that’s gonna hit Cas hard, and you will never forgive yourself.”
“That’s why I don’t plan on getting into a situation where that happens. I need to talk to him. See where his head is at, where his power sits, and if my husband is still in there somewhere.”
YN caught a glimpse of Cas’s mind again. “Hurry Dean, he’s holding a bunch of civilians in the recreation center, including children. And he’s planning to kill all of them.”
Dean pressed the gas pedal to the floor, and Baby sped down the pavement. They were 10 minutes out, and YN prayed they would get there in time. Thankfully, she had connections in high places.
The Impala barely stopped when YN jumped out the door. Sam got out and sprinted after her, leaving Dean to park the car. YN burst into the arena just as Cas raised his hand.
“Castiel! Stop!”
Cas turned to the voice. “YN. What are you doing here?”
“I’ve come to bring you home Cas. Your sick. The poison is affecting your mind.”
Cas frowned. “The poison hasn’t made me ill. It made me better, stronger. I see things more clearly now, it’s like my eyes have been opened.”
“No, husband, you’re not better. Look at what you were about to do! You were going to kill hundreds of innocent people.”
“No one is innocent.”
She came to stand in front of him, and the Winchesters began evacuating everyone. “Cas, this isn’t you. Please, let me help, let me take you home.”
“I don’t need your help YN, or anyone’s for that matter.” His eyes began to glow red. “Move aside wife, I do not want to hurt you.”
“I can’t stand aside Cas. I won’t let you do this.”
“Then you leave me no choice.”
Cas raised a hand, sending YN flying backwards. She caught herself mid-air and sent a burst of light back at her husband, momentarily blinding him.
“Cas stop! Please! Don’t do this!”
“If you aren’t with me, then you’re against me.” He raised his hand again to strike.
YN raised her hand to deter him. “Stop! I’m pregnant!”

CAM.
Tumblr media
Prologue.
Six hours.
That's how long she had been studying for her final exams. She sighed loudly, closing her notes and allowed herself to have a mini break. A soft moan passed through her lips as she stretched in her desk chair and sunk back against the soft leather that has molded around her shapely frame.
Taking a swig of her now slightly warm sweet tea, she opened her MacBook Pro and decided to check her emails that her professors had sent of her current grades.
The last thing Aliyah wanted to be in college was a bum. Unlike most of her peers, she actually wanted to make something for herself once she graduated.
Just as she was about to read an email, her imessage began to go with an incoming facetime call from her best friend. "Yessss." Aliyah answered in a singing manner once she hit accept.
"Aww, you didn't have to dress all sexy for me mami." Hazel smirked playfully, her wild mane of blonde curls framing her pretty face perfectly.
Aliyah looked down at her Super Saiyan Goku shirt and electric blue lace panties before shaking her head. "Shut up." Even with her rich russet skin tone, Hazel still managed to see a hint of red grace Aliyah's cheeks. Hazel always thought it was cute how shy she easily became when anyone flirted or even gave her a compliment.
"Let me guess, studying?"
"Finals are in two days, Haze. You should be studying too." While Aliyah was well aware of how much of a nerd she can be, it has somewhat rubbed off on her friends. She just wanted to see the crew succeed.
Hazel made a "duh" face, rolling her eyes dramatically. "And I have, I promise. I'm as ready as I'll ever be thanks to you constantly reminding me every chance you got." Which she appreciated nonetheless because she knew to have real friends around her mattered.
"You'll thank me once we're walking across the stage to get our degrees." Aliyah reminded her. "And I'll be three hundred dollars richer too, don't forget that."
Aliyah's loud laugh filled her room from the way Hazel looked at her. Clearly, she must've thought that their bet that they made freshman year had been forgotten. Nah. "But I was just playing when I said that. We're in college bestie."
Aliayh looked away for a second then back at Hazel. "So?"
"Sooo, that means I'm broke bitch."
Turning her head a little to the side, Aliayh crossed her arms and stared at Hazel accusingly. "Now why you gotta lie like that Haze? You come from money. Hell, your parents practically throw thousands at you weekly. All that expensive shit you got proves it. The clothes, the jewelry, shopping trips you take and don't get me started on your ca-"
"Alright damn, I get it," Hazel interjected, rolling onto her back on her bed, revealing a see-through bra. If there was one thing Aliayh has come to learn about Hazel was that the woman was never shy about her sexuality or being comfortable in her own skin.
"I'm just teasing. You can pay me by buying me food."
"Basically what I've been doing forever," Hazel replied. "I might as well be your boyfriend."
"Please don't say it."
"Call me daddy."
Oh god. Aliyah rubbed her forehead, deciding to let what she heard slide. "Anyways, what's up? I know you didn't call me to talk about school work."
"True. Do you like Asian men?" Hazel asked casually, looking at Aliyah's now confused face.
"Umm, I guess," Aliyah answered, not expecting that to be what she wanted to talk about. "Why?"
The evil smile that graced Hazel's face made her nervous. "Well, I have something I wanted to share with you. Think of it as an early graduation gift."
"I don't want it." Aliyah quickly declined her "gift" because Hazel was always into some weird kinky shit.
"C'mon Liyah, you'll like it I promise. Besides, you should be thanking me since you refused every dick I've thrown your way." It has been two years since Aliyah has been with anyone on that level and ever since then Hazel, along with Tori and Aisha has made it their mission to get her laid. It wasn't as if sex was something that was hard to come by, especially on campus. But Aliyah had standards and she couldn't see herself just allowing anyone to slid up in her.
That wasn't the move.
"Fine, what is it?" Though Aliyah was hesitant, she was very curious.
Hazel smiled widely showing off those perfectly white teeth of hers. "You ever heard of cam boys?"
"Yeah, they do...shows," Aliyah stated, struggling a little to find the right word. "But you have to pay for it though. I'm not spending money just to watch a man jerk off Haze." There were literally thousands of free videos of men doing just that floating around the internet aka Pornhub.
"That may be true but this one is special," Hazel responded, putting emphasis on the word special.
Aliyah raised an eyebrow. "Yeah? How so?" There was only so much she figured a man could do as a cam boy that would be considered "special".
"For one they call him ChimChim an-...what's so funny?" Hazel asked with a pout.
"Of all the names he could've chosen, he picked ChimChim? That sounds random and corny as hell Haze." Aliyah laughed loudly, clapping her hands, reminding Hazel of a seal.
"Whatever. As I was saying LOVERBOY, is pretty popular. His shows always get thousands of views but he only streams once a week. Tori had suggested him to me a few days ago. Said he had her coming multiple times on one stream alone." Hazel gushed excitedly.
"Ok, good for her I guess. I'm guessing you want me to experience what she had?" Aliyah assumed, surprised that she was actually considering what Hazel was offering her.
"Bingo. Just see for yourself, you might enjoy it." Hazel shrugged, propping herself up on her pillows. "And it's just your luck that he has a stream tonight, as a matter of fact, it should be starting...now." She said after checking the time on her phone.
"I c-"
"I already paid for it, so enjoy yourself. I sent you the link. Bye!" Hazel rushed out, ending the call without giving Aliyah a chance to respond.
Sighing to herself, she looked at the link in her messages and debated on opening it for a good five minutes. "What's the worst that could happen?" She whispered to herself, finally clicking the link to reveal a site that had his name plastered at the top of it.
Her mouse hovered over the 'enter video' clickable, not really believing that she was about to do this. Throwing all caution to the wind, she clicked the link, covering most of her eyes as the video popped up to reveal someone that made her body freeze.
With wide eyes, she took in the male seating back comfortably in his chair. His long-sleeved black shirt was pulled up a little, giving his 16,278 viewers a peek of his abs. He sported a pair of blue jeans that were ripped at the knees and hung low on his hips revealing his Calvin Klein boxer briefs. She blinked rapidly at the familiar face that stared into the camera biting his lip in a teasing manner.
Six years have passed since she has last seen him but she knew his face. He looked the same as back then but different all at once. Of course, they have grown over the years and features change but she knew without a doubt that it had to be him.
He was a bit taller now, his natural black hair color was now blonde and it suited him perfectly. Skin that was slightly tanned looked smooth to touch. Even his smile had gotten more beautiful. Those plump lips still looked inviting and dark piercing eyes that made her "peach" feel a certain type of way.
It had to be him.
"K-kadien?"

Thoughts about Spn 14x17
SPOILERS AHEAD! BEWARE!
Sooooooooooooooooo. Admittedly I wasn’t looking forward that much to this episode, because both Donatello and Nick (and his Lucifer obsession) are characters/storylines I’m not that interested in. However it seems like Jack will be the character all storylines will evolve around now, and that has me sucked in. I’m concerned about Mary and her fate and I hope that Supernatural has learned from their past and doesn’t sacrifice a beloved character in order to create man-pain.
But, as always, let’s have a closer look.
Lady in Red
(Random observation: loved Danneel’s look). In this week’s subplot we have Cas enlisting Anael to help him find God, in order to restore Jack’s soul. Anael is yet another angel who has become disillusioned with God and his creation. She can’t understand how God has created earth and humanity, his so called perfect people, but allows hatred and pain, because he doesn’t meddle. We do know that God at times does meddle (Cas specifically mentions his resurrections) but that of course in creating humans he also gave them free will. And that’s kind of the point (and in many ways what this show is about: we are our choices). Mary reminds Sam that what Nick did is not his fault, because they were Nick’s choices. There will always be evil in the world because there will always be people who make that choice. But there will also be goodness; Sam’s choice to give Nick a second chance was an act of kindness. As Mary said it shows the kind of man he is: a good man.
Anael, like many other angels, can’t grasp the concept of free will. She uses her powers to meddle, to make a difference. On the surface it looks like she does it for money, but as she told Cas, if you think that is the only reason you haven’t paid attention.
I feel a lot of Cas and Anael’s interactions were there to contrast the two characters and to show once again how different Cas is from all the other angels, how human he has become (it is a pattern and knowing the show will come to an end it feels like he has to make a choice eventually). In the waffle house we saw him ordering food, whereas Anael denied even a cup of coffee. Anael says that they are all alone, but Cas disagrees. Anael has lost her faith in heaven, in her angelic family, in God. Cas says it doesn’t matter if God cares about them or not because they still have each other; Cas has found a new family. And Anael of course was right in her assumption that Cas is currently hiding from Sam and Dean, that he is afraid to tell them the truth. His priorities are with his family and no longer with his mission.
The other repeated theme is of course God himself and how often he had been mentioned this season, especially calling out his absence and that he doesn’t seem to care. We heard that before from Michael, who because of God’s absence took it upon himself to become the new God. God of course is also always seen as a parallel to John (the way Michael and Lucifer work as a parallel for Dean and Sam). God isn’t the only absent father. However John did return this season and it gave his sons a chance for closure, to make their peace with how he raised them, and to reflect on their own lives and realize that they no longer need their father, that they no longer have to carry around the ghost of John. Cas saying that it doesn’t matter if God is around is similar to that. It is possible he will make another appearance after he has been mentioned that much, and because he might be the only one powerful enough to either save or stop Jack. Emotionally it might lead to another sort of closure, both for the Winchesters and the angels.
We need to talk about Jack
First of all, the main discourse after this episode, and my opinion about it: PINEAPPLE DOES NOT BELONG ON PIZZA. DEAN IS RIGHT, IT IS AN ABOMINATION.
That being said I loved the five seconds of domestic Winchesters we got this week (why do you have to be so cruel show). Dean playing Mouse Trap is of course a foretelling of Nick and his complicated trap to get what he wants: Lucifer. I honestly don’t care about Donatello as a character (sorry dude), but it pained me to realize that Nick was right about something: the Winchesters don’t have many friends left he can use as bait. Of course there was a very specific reason why Nick needed Donatello: as a prophet he could use him to communicate to Lucifer. I wonder though if you can simply inject angel grace to a human? We know that not every human is capable to contain an angel, but it was just a little grace. It might have also something to do with Donatello’s special status as prophet or the fact that he is soulless that his body seemed unaffected by the grace.
The whole Nick storyline was… well I’m glad it is over. Nick has gone to a point where he identified himself so much with Lucifer that he feels incomplete without him, that he even referred to Jack as his own son. Of course he needed Jack for a very specific reason, or rather his blood. This might be the reason why Lucifer could come back: because a part of him is still tied to this world. Jack is his blood. Which is quite similar to how ghosts are created in the world of Supernatural: they can only stay because something of them still ties them to our world (their body, a certain possession etc). It also seemed to me that Nick was especially interested in Sam and that he was jealous of Sam’s status as the perfect vessel for Lucifer. I’m not sure if Nick’s speech to Dean, how being a vessel for an archangel changes you, was just there to provoke Dean or if we will see some change in Dean after all. So far he seems to be his old self again.
So let’s talk about Jack. We start the episode with Mary expressing her concern and Jack being annoyed by it, before he puts on a face to reassure Mary that he is alright. Mary of course knows Jack well enough to see right through it (in the time they spent together in the Apocalypse-World he became another son to her, perhaps more than Sam and Dean, because he still needs a mother to guide him). We see how utterly terrified Jack is by the thought that he might no longer has a soul. He wants to be ok, he wants to be all right, he doesn’t want to worry his family. Part of Jack’s behaviour read to me as a metaphor for depression. The absence of his soul, the emptiness he feels because of it, how he wants to be right again, how he doesn’t want to hurt his family but at the same is annoyed by their concern for him.
Jack repeatedly asks Mary for moral guidance. He asks for her permission to use his powers in order to find Nick. He needs her to tell him that it was okay that he killed Nick, and when she doesn’t he becomes upset, and is afraid she tells Sam and Dean about it and what their reaction might be. @mittensmorgul already pointed out that Jack misinterprets “Something is wrong” into “You are wrong”. Jack wants to be right, he wants to make the right choices, but he can no longer tell what is right and what is wrong (which brings us back to ‘we are our choices’). If they set up Jack as a villain (and I’m not 100% sold on that) it would make an interesting difference because for once we would have a bad guy who desperately doesn’t want to be a bad guy. And it might come back to Sam (and Dean), to good man, who give second chances, who try to save him instead of killing him.
At last I want to talk about Mary and potential death. I’m not saying she is but it is a possibility. We saw her giving two speeches to her sons, that should ring any alarm bell because they looked like goodbyes. She told Dean that is grateful for the time she spent together with her sons (after apologizing for being closed off and hard, which reminded me why I love her so much as a character: she is not the traditional mother, but rather a complicated complex female character). She tells Sam that he is a good man and proud of him. It is possible that they will kill of Mary (again), that they will use her death as the point of no return for Jack and to show us how much of a danger he is, that he is perhaps past saving.
However I really hope that won’t be the direction where they go. I love Mary as a character, I love that they brought back the original fridged character and that is why her death would be so problematic for me. Killing off a beloved character to get the plot in a certain direction is something Supernatural has done so many times and it never works and I sincerely hope they have learned from their mistakes. And surprisingly it is Nick who gives me hope here. Because after all nobody stays dead anymore.
Until next week <3

Hey! I was rewatching Byzantium and the part where Lily says 'Jack will use his soul to sustain his body' got me confused cause wasn't that the original problem with the situation like won't Jack die again? Since he still doesn't have enough grace and his soul can't support him all the way. Or did he get his grace back or smthn.
Heya! I think it’s specifically Lily’s powers brought up because she uses her own human soul to do angel magic. After 12x10 we had a lot of discussion of this hybrid magic and the tl;dr is that she is doing the exact same magic an angel would, but burning up her soul, a non-renewable resource, to do what an angel can as a renewable resource.
The reason Jack and all nephilim are super powerful and scary is that they have both a human soul which provides a massive power boost, and angel grace which is a long burning power, and this sort of theme has been around since season 6, like 6x18 where Cas powered up off of Bobby’s soul to get enough power to time travel after being wounded. Never mind the main plot arc with the Purgatory souls etc :P
So the nature of Jack’s grace and himself as a nephilim is different from both Lily using her soul for power without angel grace to give endless energy, and an angel using their normal power, and really makes it more like if Cas permanently had his hand shoved in Bobby’s soul, siphoning it off, and theoretically stable enough to not explode Bobby in the process because the whole being born as a nephilim thing creates genetic stability in this super powerful self-perpetuating engine.
Having his human soul removed a la Abaddon’s soul-stealing shenanigans for example would probably harm him just as much as having his grace stolen, as unlike how humans don’t physically rot without a soul, and angels don’t rot without a grace, he’s built to contain both forms of power.
(At least this is the world building logic I’ve gleaned from all this)
So when he uses Lily’s magic type to stabilise and heal his body, he is using ANGEL magic with his HUMAN soul, and this is the exact right sort of hybrid magic to heal him from within, though at a cost of not having angel grace to use as the power so that he has to switch to the back up of his soul which is a finite resource. The price may be that he has to do this several times and that’s not long-term good as he will use up his soul in the process, as we saw that Lily stopped using the spell and rapidly aged rather than sort of resuming the aging process naturally. Clearly her magic is a stay of execution rather than powerful enough to hold off old-age naturally and not have this alarming process of aging after.
But yeah in the storytelling her magic is a neat at least short term fix for Jack as she was introduced specifically to explore the dual natural of soul and angel magic just a couple of episodes after Jack was conceived, in order to give us some lore to work with about Nephilim, their power, and so on. She was introduced almost like a human alternative, the finite, destructive version of the magic Jack would have naturally and without limitations.
She’s given Jack a way to trick his failing systems into being flooded with angelic magic to complement his human soul, and honestly my first thought after the episode (among all the crying) was a fear that having discovered a source of power, Jack might be tempted to tap his soul for other purposes as he does miss his powers and is exactly the sort of dumbass kid age to recklessly charge ahead using them without considering the consequences, which will make once-soulless!Dad very upset if this happens >.> (And the other dads, but Sam has personal experience of the “oh god no” of it all.)

14.06 character notes
Apparently I did this again.
Many episode notes, organized mostly by character, under the cut.
Click for thoughts on roosters, romance, Dean’s relationship with authority, Yockey’s relationship with fandom, alt!Charlie’s relationship with dark!Charlie, etc, etc.
JACK
Interesting that Jack both a) liked sweet things before losing his grace and b) finds that they taste different now. I had always assumed he didn’t have any of the angelic impairments on tasting and enjoying things — see, nougat — but he seems to find them less sweet without his grace than he did before.
Historically, we’ve seen angels using way too much sugar when they do have their grace (see: Ishim). There are many many thoughts to be had about angelhood and intensity of feeling and sensation and I’m not going to get into all of them here, but — Jack apparently had a type of power that heightened his experience of the world rather than dulling it, which is super interesting to me.
Or maybe he just didn’t need caffeine when all angelic-like.
“You were on an overnight run to Mary and Bobby’s place” — Dean knows that, obviously, but there’s something I love about making Jack the exposition mouthpiece. He has this very childlike way of establishing his understanding of the world out loud, and it fits his character.
In this scene, though, he’s also driving at a point — in a delightfully Slytherin fashion. He’s clearly been bored and antsy for a while, and he clearly thinks that in absence of Cas, Dean is the dad most likely to let him do what he wants. He has a pretty good understanding of Dean’s psyche here, deliberately calling up his feelings of uselessness in order to position him to want to go on this hunt. Jack you conniving consumptive child. I love you.
Jack is so oblivious about sex and relationships like I’m pretty sure if someone gets around to actually explaining the mechanics he’ll be like wait WHAT?
Or maybe that’s me just living in my little grove of denial trees, nobody make me leave.
I like how Jack is now parroting Deep State Waitress’s “hey the FBI does not actually have ultimate authority over everything” spiel when entering the scene as Romantic Lead in the library.
Oh my god the “old man” line, Jack has NO filters about calling Dean out, none.
Jack does a terrible job being subtle about coughing “Christo” into his hand. Like buddy you’ve had an actual real-life cough for four episodes now, you’ve got the experience! Put your back into it.
Jack seems very legitimately upset by the idea of Vance leaving without Harper. It makes me curious about his notions of romantic love, and what kind of models he has of that — I mean, every one of his assorted varieties of parent is [cough] single.
I mean I’m making an innuendo about Dean and Cas here, but also the importance of staying is huge in Dean and Cas’s relationship to one another, and seems important to Jack in this moment.
The formative months of Jack’s life were all about the love of people who left against their own will — Kelly, Cas, even Mary. He witnessed the devastation that was Dean responding to Cas’s death. He called Cas back from death.
Oh, upsetting parallels/contrasts between TFW style resurrection and Harper style resurrection.
I have no idea if Jack and Harper poking their heads up from behind the desk is supposed to so closely mirror Sam and Sam in 14.04, but it totally does.
“Jack Smith” care of the Lebanon, KS post office — there might actually be more than one Jack Smith. Even in Lebanon.
“And that’s… love?” Jack still doesn’t really have a sense of romantic love, outside of the movies — it really hasn’t been part of his life. (Aside from Gabe and Rowena hooking up, as mentioned earlier in the episode.)
The mirroring of Jack with his sugar and Dean with his whiskey across the kitchen table is a thing I like.
“I’m fine. It’s all part of being human, right?”
Oh, sweetie. There’s a lot that he doesn’t know at all about being human, whether it’s appropriate sugar to coffee ratios or how romance works or when a cough is Not Fine.
I’m just going to keep having feelings over here about how no one in Jack’s life is modeling romantic love or partnership and so he’s getting it all from movies.
NO WAIT he has Mary and Bobby??
And witnessed them getting close in Apocalypse World presumably?
Which lends credence to the idea that he’s actually quite oblivious about things happening under his nose on the romance front.
Anyway Jack now that you understand about googly eyes you’re going to have to work very hard to not notice them between a certain pair of your dads, that is all
DEAN
I’m trying to peg the time of day of the initial kitchen scene. Both Dean and Jack are drinking coffee, suggesting that it’s morning, and Dean sounds bleary and grumpy like someone who just woke up. Or someone who’s been drinking and being in a bad mood about things. Or someone who just finished a long drive.
The fact that Dean then goes for weird fridge leftovers does not narrow down these possibilities.
An “overnight run to Mary and Bobby’s” could mean a couple different things. We’ve already established that it’s half a day’s drive (in 14.05), so — anywhere from 4 to 8 hours, knowing our boys. Maybe “overnight run” means Dean drove through the night to get back; maybe it means he stayed there overnight and drove back the following day.
It doesn’t really make sense for this to be purely a supply run; there are closer places for people to get supplies. So it’s at least in part a social call. So, probably with an overnight stay.
If I were ficcing this* I’d write it as an overnight trip, undertaken at Sam’s prompting and in part as defense against a bad mood, which is mostly Michael-related but partly associated with Cas being absent somewhere (where?). I’d write it as an experience that’s both deeply soothing and weirdly uncomfortable, bringing up feelings about Parental Figures, giving him some fairly unprecedented (post-12.22) alone time with Mary, and I’d write Dean staying longer than he means to in the morning/into the afternoon, getting a late start on the drive home, and getting back to the bunker late. Then I’d write this Jack conversation as taking place the next morning.
Uh. This is why I usually don’t write meta. ‘Cause I wind up ficcing it instead.
(*I’m not saying I’m not ficcing it.)
I love the extent to which Dean’s accepting Sam’s Chiefdom as the new normal, up to and including where it’s about Dean’s own life. When Jack mentions that Sam’s worried about Dean — which, honestly, he’s doing specifically to drive a lil wedge between two of his dads and get what he wants — Dean just acknowledges that that sounds like him. When Jack voices frustration with Sam’s limitations on him, Dean backs Sam up. When Jack convinces Dean to go on a hunt, he calls Sam first to clear it with him.
Dean’s honestly very comfortable having someone else in charge of him, when it’s someone he trusts as intrinsically as he does Sam. It breaks my heart a little that we’ve seen so many years of Dean being a control freak over situations he wouldn’t want to be in charge of, if he was capable of trusting anyone else to do it.
Y’know what I said last week about Dean internalizing everything that’s ever happened to him, and Michael breaking that pattern by being an inescapably external force? Sam’s breaking that pattern a bit, too, in a really good way. He’s differentiated himself, in Dean’s absence, like he did back in 12.22, and it’s to an extent where Dean can’t really take responsibility for him anymore. Instead Dean’s just accepting Sam’s authority as something external to him and out of his control, but — unlike Michael — fundamentally good.
(That’s not to say Dean doesn’t believe he has a voice or the opportunity for input; he clearly does. But he’s so, so okay with letting Sam be the boss of him and I’m weeping.)
(This is also a topic very relevant to the way Dean relates to Cas — back in the day, Dean was capable of getting close to Cas because he trusted him to take care of himself; he even alludes to that this episode with the idea that Cas is an insurance policy. With time — the S6 betrayal, up through the S12 running-off-to-deal-with-Kelly-Kline-and-stealing-the-Colt business — that sense of security has eroded, to the point that Dean’s developed a lot of fear about Cas running off and making dumb decisions and getting himself dead. He’s gotten better at managing those fears and using his words about it in S13, though, and I have high hopes for even more self-awareness on the subject in the future.)
(I haven’t even mentioned John in this little rabbit hole but like let’s be clear: Dean grew up trusting John’s authority and fashioning himself into an instrument of it, eventually had to unlearn his trust in that authority because it conflicted with his protectiveness of Sam, and has not really trusted any authority since. Until now. Oops I’m weeping again.)
Dean are you making leftover noodle tacos, what’s happening here
“Yeah, when a young guy dies they never know what to put in those things.” Spoken like a guy who’s read a lot of obituaries.
And who once delivered the line: “You know, I gotta say — I’m sorry I’m gonna miss it.… How many chances am I gonna have to see my own funeral?”
Now we are in Dick’s diner with all of its, uh, roosters. It’s innuendo time.
Ok I like the diner waitress (whom I adore, btw) calling Dean “Deep State” but in the context of all of these [cough] cocks everywhere it’s hard not to think of “Deepthroat” and… yeah. Yes. We’re fine over here. We’re fine.
We’re also fine about Dean needing to nudge away the [cough] cock that’s just, pointing right at him, when their waitress friend brings up the notion that sometimes you just have the sex (without the courting/dating).
Honestly though I have a lot of thoughts about this diner as a mirror to Charlie’s description of her lesbian bakery AU with the love of her life who always smelled of peaches — continuing a thread of hunters liking romantic/sexual partners who smell like food, but also specifically a food item frequently used as a euphemism for physical sexuality. And how Dean is a little preoccupied with the [cough] cock right in front of him but nudges it away at the notion of sex without intimacy.
Basically: we’re coding queer love in this episode as something that is nurturing and sustaining, associated with food and the places that provide it (which is in turn consistently associated with personal relationships and family on SPN). And we’re suggesting that Dean is interested in something like that with another man, but not just in a no-strings-attached physical way.
Dean even gets to eat pie this episode. What even.
And promptly gets asked about courting and romance. And makes a face about it. With a mouthful of pie.
“That’s just too much bad luck for one person” does not sound like it’s describing his own life, not at all.
Dean takes a deep inhale of his coffee and does a double-take at it before drinking. Thinking about Jack’s experience of coffee tasting different? Something something meta about the way you experience taste/smell/sustenance changing as your relationships change
“You ever read a romance novel?” Dean asks, and takes another big bite of pie.
Dean has read romance novels. It’s canon.
Enough to be familiar with their narrative structure and tropes.
Fuck me.
Dean is not casting himself as the romantic lead in this charade. Like, at all. It doesn’t even seem to occur to him. Again: he’s being strongly coded as someone who’s interested in [cough] cocks, and not the no-strings-attached kind.
Aaaand the way that Dean reacts to being called “old man” suggests that he doesn’t consider himself too “old” to play the Romantic Lead vs. Harper. He’s casting himself in a different role for… other reasons.
And now he’s studying himself in the mirror. To assess whether he looks old. And concludes (correctly) that he is plenty youthful and attractive. Which he already knew. But which did not lead him to try and play Harper’s love interest, nope not at all.
I feel like Yockey just barely stopped himself from directly calling out Dean’s cowboy and/or Dr Sexy fetish in Harper’s “it’s a little game we play” speech.
“Hey. Okay, look. I’m sure you were in love, okay? But this isn’t love. Not anymore… Now it’s like some sort of a sick game, y’know? I mean you have to eat people to stay together? Is that romantic, huh? You enjoy that?”
Please don’t look at me while I contemplate that time when Cas had to eat people (ok, angels) to stay with Dean.
Dean makes the same face when Jack asks “and that’s… love?” as he did about the cowboy case last year.
“Love can get crazier than that.”
[cue “Crazy in Love” playing over montage of Cas pulling the demon knife out of his chest in a sigil-encrusted barn]
What you mean that didn’t happen in the episode? Oh well.
...oh shit I just realized something. Remember how the restaurant was full of roosters but also full of dramatic pictures of barns?
Like that one dramatic barn in 4.01? Where a certain pair of characters first met?
Moving right along.
SAM
I cannot see anyone but Jared spinning that fidget spinner. Dork.
I’m intrigued by the whys and wherefores of Sam going on this case with Charlie. Charlie doesn’t seem super psyched to have him there; he doesn’t seem all that psyched to be there. I do think there’s an element of angling-for-a-talk-with-her — maybe after Maggie and Bobby he’s been thinking more about meeting the emotional needs of his hunter people — but it’s overall quite awkward, and he seems bored and impatient.
My working hypothesis is that this is some fallout of Sam trying to enforce the you-only-hunt-with-a-buddy rule. Like, Charlie blew through to grab some lore books for the case, only to have Sam go all “wait hang on do you have a buddy,” resulting in Charlie rolling her eyes about not needing a buddy and Sam being the only one available to enforce the new policy before Charlie runs off on her own again.
If true, that was probably an awkward ride to Memphis. And is only getting awkwarder.
This Charlie is totally the too-old-for-this-shit coworker/employee who never reads the emails about new company policies.
Does Sam have a go-to car right now, with the Impala back in Dean’s hands? Inquiring minds want to know.
Okay the “he used to have a pretty good wingman” line is totally angling to get Charlie talking about her close relationships or lack thereof. Sam and Jack are two beautiful manipulative little fuckers in a pod and I love it.
I don’t even know how to handle this “I’m not surprised you survived the apocalypse” scene, and the blindered notion of what the apocalypse must have been like over there, because I just wrote a similar scene in one of my fics and I have All the Feelings about it.
Sam is a dork who knows all the things from all the books. Yes good.
“People need people.” Hello it’s the theme of the show and particularly of this season and particularly of the last couple episodes, good times.
Okay could ONE of you nerds have like, gone out for a brass nail dipped in sugar water when it became apparent this might be helpful? I mean like? These things don’t sound that hard to find?
Jensen must have been so smug about Jared having to do the scene with the bugs this time around without him.
God Sam’s speech about helping people and expanding the circle as the musca family take back and honor their wayward son — this show is about Family in all its permutations, and has never made it so clear.
“That’s worth it. Even with all the tears and death, it’s worth it.”
Speaking of callbacks to 1.06, how about Sam doing all his emailing and checking in with his college friends and helping them when they’re framed for murder, and how about how he now has an actual gang of friends to look after again, and is clearly taking the job seriously of checking in with them and making sure they’re doing okay and insisting that they don’t isolate themselves and lose touch. The way… he did. That one time. Way back when.
CHARLIE
It’s interesting that unlike with Bobby, our boys have already experienced weirdly alternate versions of Charlie, but ones that still had all of their Charlie’s history and knowledge (that is, the two Charlies that got split while in Oz). The fact that they’ve already done that set of mental gymnastics might make it harder to do another whole new set for this version of Charlie.
There’s also an interesting mirror of our!Charlie’s time in Oz and this Charlie’s experience of Apocalypse World. Not that anyone thinks Apocalypse World was sunshine and rainbows, but it’s easy to forget the history and the trauma that went into surviving it; it’s easy to forget about all the people who didn’t. “Charlie survived Apocalypse World” is no more the story than “Dorothy got to visit a magical fantasy world” is the story. And in Oz, as in Apocalypse World, Charlie played a huge role in the war — but only by unleashing the dark, hardened side of herself.
I feel like dark!Charlie and alt!Charlie would recognize each other. It’s a really strong commentary on how we repress the versions of ourselves that won’t help us when we’re dealing with something unimaginable.
“She owned a bakery outside of Chicago. Cupcakes. It was like something out of a storybook. She always smelled like peaches, and… her smile was just…”
“It’s a fact about society. It all falls apart.”
I have a sense that this Charlie has kept herself going with her dark worldview for a long, long time now. And that taking on a lighter (more optimistic) worldview feels existentially threatening; she can’t entirely trust or believe in Sam, because that means letting her defenses down, and there’s a lot those defenses are protecting her from.
Obviously this is not as big a deal as her People, but for Charlie to go from being a programmer, to living in a world without computers or advanced technology, to suddenly having everything that is now accessible in this one — including, like, smartphones and shit — must be a Lot.
Charlie is calling Sam out for his calling out of the narrative mirrors and I am LIVING for it. “Your nifty metaphor has holes.”
HARPER
Let’s not talk about how the visual language used to introduce Harper and designate her as a Love Interest approximates (in slightly distorted form) both an ascot and a trenchcoat. Yeah let’s not do that.
Oops even my Harper thoughts are Dean thoughts.
Since I’ve been going on about food and types of love: Harper does have some food imagery at her apartment — the strawberry heart on the wall, the fruit on the table — but it feels very curated and almost off-limits, as opposed to the way Dean and Charlie’s restaurant symbols are places where people are constantly coming and going and food is always being made and enjoyed.
Harper’s bathroom has dragonflies on the wallpaper — something something insects something something musca parallel
“It’s the first love, Jack. The best kind. Without baggage, or compromise — I mean I did have to kill him to keep him here after college, but every relationship has its stuff, right?”
This episode does a lot of casting heterosexual love as toxic and unhealthy and queer love as bountiful and sustaining. This bit in particular also calls back to themes of last week’s episode, about the danger of freezing things in the past as opposed to living in the present — Harper literally killed her boyfriend in order to keep their relationship baggage- and compromise-free.
“What would it be like to be with someone alive?” Yep there’s our narrative about the unwillingness to grow and adapt and the freezing of relationships.
Definitely not any kind of comment on “fans” of the show who would rather it never grow or change at all.
Ok, Harper in a diner, writing a letter: here we have our third Food Establishment of the episode (the second one we’ve actually seen). It’s called the “Cafe 50’s,” which definitely emphasizes the backward-looking, kill-what-you-love-to-keep-it approach that Harper takes to relationships.
“You’re the first man to ever get me to leave McCook. Now I’m in the world.”
What are the implications of the whole not-leaving-town thing? She talks about not needing to leave town because they can see the world through stories. Jack talks about knowing more about romance from stories (movies) than from real life. Charlie talks about her romance being something out of a storybook, and also about metaphors being nifty but imperfect. Dean has talked recently about living vicariously through monster stories where you know the monsters will lose.
I feel like there’s something here about staying home and living through stories vs. going out and making your own stories, but I am not fully grasping it yet.
MUSCA
In case anyone was wondering, the text under “Musca” in Charlie’s book is just the intro to the Wikipedia article on insects.
I mean obviously this is a props thing but I like the idea that the book’s author was just like “we don’t fuckin know, have a book report on Class Insecta.”
Okay, musca mostly keep to themselves, every few hundred years there’s a bad egg who can’t find a mate and starts making nests out of humans instead.
Insert depressing meta about links between violence and sexual entitlement here
But honestly this monster reminds me a lot of the bisaan from the Chitters — another ep featuring queer hunters and their relationships, and another monster that has long recurrence intervals and kills people when it wants to mate. (Of course Harper is doing this too. On a rather shorter recurrence interval.)
Is this musca ALSO wearing an ascot-ish thing
I mean to keep its net closed but still
Oh my god. ALL of the air fresheners. And the fly paper.
The musca doesn’t enjoy his own grossness any more than anyone else does. And yet here we are.
The ritual of the musca family coming to gather up the dead one was oddly really touching — like you get the sense that this guy violated some of their deepest laws and beliefs, but now that he’s dead, it’s time for healing.
That people do better when they have social support structures is a big Fact about the world, and seems like a strong reason musca only become problems every couple centuries. I like that we see the love and support of that community, even for someone who has rejected it. Like I’m cautious to make too sweeping a statement about forgiveness for sexually frustrated fly-men who go around killing people, but you get the sense that taking him back into the fold and (on some level) forgiving him is a ritual that’s important to the overall cohesiveness of musca culture, and forgiveness has certainly been critical for maintaining and building the Winchesters’ familial bonds, too.
RANDOM NOTES
There was going to be more “sense of place” meta here but then Dean hijacked it with all the [cough] cocks.
Harper’s story takes place in McCook, Nebraska (just 2 hours from Lebanon). There’s a statue of an old dude in a bowtie. Should I know who this is?
For whatever it’s worth I’ve never been in a small town rural library that wasn’t far too crowded for my introvert sensibilities. And I’ve been in a good number of little rural libraries, many of them in the last couple years, in towns significantly smaller than McCook. Libraries are super not dead. In case anyone was wondering.
Sam and Charlie are outside Memphis, Tennessee (11 hours from Lebanon).
There’s a lot of construction going on in McCook. Someone smarter than I should meta about the symbolism of this.
I like how one of the construction workers gets interviewed and gets a lil dreamy-eyed about damsels and heroes.
I was too distracted to pay much attention to my North American Biogeography {edantry but things generally seemed fine. Not too much woods in this episode, which helps. Summery shooting around deciduous trees generally helped things seem like they could be actual Nebraska/Tennessee.
SOME FINAL THOUGHTS
Yockey goes hard in the subtext for the trollish fans who only watch to yell about how SPN is not still the exact show they fell in love with way back in the day. A zombie Vance of a show.
I mean: “I’m sure you were in love, okay? But this isn’t love. Not anymore… Now it’s like some sort of a sick game, y’know?”
“What would it be like to be with someone alive?”
THIS SHOW IS SO WONDERFUL IF YOU TREAT IT AS A LIVING EVOLVING THING okay I’m off my soapbox now.
(Though for the record: I am a fan who fell in love with this show during S1, and I love it more than ever in S14. So like. Anyone who wants to complain about new fans/writers/showrunners ruining the show or whatever can get off my lawn.)
I really love the character throughlines we’ve been seeing since Dean’s return — the way he’s been dealing with the Michael aftermath, which has varied from week to week in the way people’s moods vary, but the underlying emotional arc remains very consistent, as does the coping-by-hunting comfort zone; Sam, figuring out the details of leadership and course-correcting about things like the buddy system and looking after his hunters’ emotional needs and sense of connectedness. Jack, diving into hunting in a very innocent way in order to feel valuable and connected to his family, vs. Charlie, hunting out of a sense of obligation but long hardened against any desire for connectedness.
I’m also thrilled that this season has been giving us real opportunities to delve into various different one-on-one character dynamics: Cas & Jack, Sam & Mary, Mary & Bobby, Sam & Charlie, Sam & Jody, Dean & Jack. It gives us a sense of this show’s power as an ensemble — as a family — and fulfills the promise of that connectedness I’ve been harping on about.
Anyway where is Cas please

This is so much fun, I swear before Jesus! As a big family person myself, writing about the reader’s family is cathartic. Mainly because families spill the tea in my stories more than the main character ever will 😙🤣
Boop.
It’s easy to get caught up with Erik, to be swept up in his energy. Although you’d tried to maintain a ‘slow and steady wins the race’ mentality when you’d agreed to be his girl, somehow, someway, the two of y’all just dived headfirst into a relationship.
More often than not, you ended up staying the night over at his crib and you didn’t always use the excuse of wanting to play video games to go see him. He surprised you by how affectionate and touchy-feely he is, though you tried to get used to it and reciprocate in kind, you had been on your own for a good stretch and some habits are hard to break. It didn’t irritate him (so much) anymore and he even took it with good grace, seeming to make it his mission to wrap an arm around your waist that more often, kiss the back of your neck, or pull you into his lap, etc.
Nadia noticed the change in y’all dynamic and while she said that she approved, there was the feeling that she was distancing herself from you, which hurt, if you were being honest, since the two of y’all had hit it off instantly and been flatmates for over two years.
However, you weren’t the type to beg anyone to be friends with you if they didn’t want to.
The independent streak that your mother had nurtured in you your whole life wasn’t disappearing anytime soon, if at all, and occasionally, it clashed with Erik’s habit of spoiling you with too much of, well, just about everything: clothes, shoes, hair, nails, etc. Hell, he had paid off your portion of the rent for six months (you’d managed to talk him out of paying off the entire year just barely). While you would like to say that you were happy, and most of the time you truly are, you couldn’t quite shake the feeling of waiting for the other shoe to drop.
“Girl, you stupid.” Breanna, your older cousin, stated bluntly. “This nigga is payin’ bills, showering you with gifts, and, wait, is the dick good?”
You swirled the spoon in the bowl of ice cream, unable to meet her eyes. “So good.”
“Did you hit ya head or somethin’? I should walk out of this cafe right now. You called me alllllll the way out here with a SOS text message and I’m thinkin’ it’s a serious situation.” Giving you the stink eye, she stabbed her slice of pie viciously. “Bitch, you is living the dream.”
“It is a serious situation.” Ignoring her ‘girl, stop it!’ look, you purse your lips, “Like, I don’t know where he works, what he does for a living. He told me a little bit about his childhood, but...”
“Y/N, baby cousin, I love you like a sister, and because I care about you so much, I’m going to say something that might hurt your feelings.” Breanna comments, putting down her fork.
“Oh, damn. Lay it on me then, cuz.”
“Your current boo is not your stank ass ex, Mitchell. Girl, you need to celebrate, apparently yo pussy so good, you got a hotep willing to be a househusband. I mean, damn. Give me lessons!” Expressively, she gesticulated as her voice gained an octave. Customers glanced in y’all direction and you laughed nervously before glaring at her. “Sorry, sorry.” Breanna apologized, tone lowering again. “Does he know about Mitchell?”
“Can we change the subject from that whack ass nigga?” You complain.
Mitchell Sanders had been your high school sweetheart and the two of y’all had dated a year and a half through college. During the final year of your relationship, he had been increasingly short tempered and critical of everything about you. While you were young, dumb and in love, you weren’t too sprung that you didn’t love your melanin skin and his passive-aggressive, caustic comments about ‘if you were a little lighter...’ only frustrated and depressed you enough to eventually dump his ass. Not even two months later, he started dating Cassandra Wynters, a preppy white soccer player. Last you’d heard about the happy couple, they’d been racing for the nearest courthouse as she was pregnant.
“No, because that nigga got yo silly-dilly ass thinkin’ that yo future baby daddy is a no good asshole wit a white girlfriend on the side.”
“Oh God. You know what? I’ma head on out of here.” You try to flag down the waiter, only Breanna kicks you in the shin. “Ow, bitch! Mercy!” You hiss through your teeth. “The hell?”
"You such a baby.” She rolled her eyes. “Sit wit me for a few extra minutes before I gotta go back home.” Breanna instructed sternly, in the way that only family members really could command somebody to do anything. “This the only time I get some personal time away from Miguel and Tiana.”
“Oooh, how are your kids?” You pick up your spoon, the melted sweet dripping off the end and back into the bowl.
Snorting, her tone is fond as she says, “Bad as hell as usual. Dre’s watching them right now so it’s all good. They always behave for they daddy.” Mushy expression changing quickly, she pointed a finger at you accusingly, “Girl, don’t even try and change the subject, though! You need to communicate with ya man so that he can address these issues early in the relationship. I will not stand by and let you sabotage yourself because you scared that you feelin’ this dude a little too much.”
“Whatever, Bre. I’m done talkin’ about this for today.”
Even though you said that, it lingered at the back of your mind the rest of the day. Work was routine so you didn’t mess up due to inattentiveness, thank goodness, and you couldn’t talk to Nadia since right now the two of y’all were in some strange type of friendship/flatmate limbo.
"Wassup?” That’s the greeting Erik gave you before giving you a peck on the lips. “...Ay, you good?” He asked, pulling back a little to scrutinize you carefully.
‘Fuck, he’s figured it out!’ Reaching a hand up, you place it against the nape of his neck, leaning in for another quick kiss. “Mm, better now. I mean, heh, why wouldn’t I be?”
Score one for being overcompensating.
Eyebrows raising, for a heart stopping moment you thought he’d call you out on your bullshit, but Erik just shook his head. “...Okay. Good day at work then. I can work wit that. I’m sayin’ though, you wanted to check out that restaurant on McMillan and 4th West Ave? I made a reservation if you still wanna go...?”
“The restaurant with the skyline view of the city and that famous seafood chef that cooks his food fresh every day?” Eyes lighting up, you launch yourself into his arms and he gripped the back of your thighs, lifting you. “Yes, yes, yes! Please!” Hands framing his face, you kissed him again, this time more intently, feeling his fingers squeezing your thighs. “And afterwards we can come back here. You let me say thank you again, properly?I might even get on my knees.”
Erik set you down on your feet. Bodies brushing up against each other, there’s no mistaking the feeling of him being half hard. “Don’t start that shit. Teasing a nigga before we go out in public.” Popping you on the ass, he snorted at the squeal you let out. “Hurry up. That reservation at seven thirty.”
You gaped at him momentarily, turning to leave, “Why didn’t you say that at first?!”
“I’m tellin’ you now!”
Last minute as it was, the two of y’all showed up literally dressed to slay. All eyes were on the both of you. The question in all of those pale faces were ‘How can these negroes afford to eat here?’, if not phrased exactly like that, the point still stood.
Yet you couldn’t bring yourself to care for once.
It didn’t matter how Erik knew the chef personally and that they shook hands as if old friends, or how the table he’d booked was strategically placed right near the area where the chef worked and you wouldn’t miss a thing while he cooked.
For tonight, you had decided to let those fears and anxieties go. To enjoy this date with ya man.
Then the weirdest thing happened.
“Y/N?” A nasally, high pitched voice called. "Oh my God, Y/N! Hey, hi!” Waving excitedly is a slightly plump, but cute waitress. Handing off a tray of drinks to another waiter, she hurried over to the table. “It’s been so long.”
“Uhh, baby?” Erik is understandably confused and so are you.
“I’m sorry. Do I...know you?”
“Oh! Oh, duh!” Slapping her forehead, she went through a quick demonstration of your alma mater’s hand sign. “It’s me! Cassandra!” She added, when it became clear that you were still drawing a blank.
“O-Ooooh, Cas. Wooooow, girl. Hey.” Your greeting lacked enthusiasm and Erik raised an eyebrow at you. You valiantly ignored this as you grasped for something nice to say. “Lookin’ good, girl. Shoot, I ain’t even recognize you.”
“It’s okay.” Heavily, she dropped into a seat next to Erik and yourself after grabbing a chair from another table. “I know I put on a few pounds since college and I cut my hair.”
“Nooo!” Waving your hands frantically, you shake your head, “It’s not that. It’s just...I thought you’d be on TV, living your dream as a soccer player and everything.” Erik ‘coughed’ into his fist. “Sorry! Cassandra, this is my man, Erik. Baby, this is Cassandra Wynters.”
He ignored her outstretched hand. “And we on a date. So...maybe get back to your job?”
As if you’d only just recognized her uniform, you gasped, hoping it’s believable. “Oh damn! I didn’t mean to take up all your time with my chit-chatting. I don’t want you to get in trouble, and we are on a date, so... Rain check. I’ll have the, um, maitre d’ give you my contact info.”
Cheeks flushed, she raised slowly from her position, “Right. So sorry, that was rude and inappropriate, my just running over here.” Laughing awkwardly, a little piggish snort escaped and you sipped at your drink to avoid laughing in her face. “I’ll catch you later then.”
“Yep. Ta-ta!” Dismissing her, you turn your full attention onto Erik once again, relaxing only when she walked away.
“That musta felt good, huh?” Erik is excellent at reading your body language and cues. You grin evilly and he snorted. “I can’t believe she just ran her ass over here like y’all was in a crowded subway station or something.”
Your shake your head and thank the waiter who refills the glasses while another takes the extra chair away again. “Some people have no home training!” You state in your best posh voice.
Placing a hand over his chest, he played along, effecting a ‘shocked’ tone, “Why would you say something so controversial yet so brave?”
It was very likely that y’all made all those white folks big mad with how y’all were laughing and carrying on. Enjoying the food and each other’s company. And when it came time to leave, Erik’s hand on your waist is a warm comfort as you catch sight of Cassandra being scolded by the maitre d’, or her boss, or whoever, at the corner of your eye. For a brief moment, the two of you stare at each other and you’re the first to look away, tilting your head up to kiss at Erik’s jaw, an action that caused him to startle briefly before he captured your lips in a kiss that toed the line between being indecent and sweet.
Maybe its God, or karma, or something else telling you to stop questioning every single thing about the mystery surrounding this man, that when it was time to know, he would tell you. To enjoy being the central focus of someone’s attention and who actually, truly, wants to be with you and only you. That everything would work out. Whatever the lesson to be learned here, the thought, ‘I am so blessed.’ Kept reverberating through your brain on a loop. And yeah, you gave that dimple cheeked fool some road head while on the way back to his crib.
Can you really be blamed?

Possessed!Dean, s13 finale?
This awesome Q+A about what might happen with Dean at the end of s13 is amazing. Go read it, get your speculative juices flowing.
I wanted to share a few thoughts on what might happen with Dean and the events at the end of Season 13. Here we go!
First off, I intitially thought Cage!Michael would be the best character to bring back to ‘posess’ dean (if that actually happens) and would be best suited to the kind of uncharacteristically ‘Dean’ clothes we’ve spied Jensen wearing on-set.
Our Michael is pissed and wanting revenge / redemption of his own, surely:
He might take on AU!Michael to redeem himself (or simply lend his Archangel grace to the boys’ spell?) or maybe he’s just so far gone (as Chuck may have mentioned back at the end of season 11) that if he were to get free of the cage and hear about the portals etc, he would be willing to team up with his alter-self and break down the barriers of reality, just for shits and giggles.
Super-twisted double-Archangel badassery—? I’m here for that.
I’ve also seen a few posts around the place pointing out why Alastair would be a good ‘possesser’ for Dean since a big theme this season is ‘facing your abusers’ (Sam + Lucifer, Rowena + Lucifer, Cas + Naomi..) But where would he fit in to the storyline and how? Since he’s a (dead)Demon he would be coming back from The Empty.
Though that does bring me nicely to the main attraction..
The linked Q+A at the start of this post points out a brilliant little thing that may or may not have been specifically touched on in the show: Heaven is failing, yes. But Hell is also without a caretaker, remember. So who’s to say the cage isn’t broken or unguarded? Who’s to say Cage!Michael hasn’t already escaped/been busted out/kidnapped to be used somehow?
I thought Cage!Michael would be the best option to possess Dean (if possession really is where the story will lead). Especially considering evil AU!Michael trying to fuck up the universe - I think it makes for an awesome parallel.
BUT— The Entity, guys! OF COURSE!
For such an epic character / realm to be introduced and not revisited would be wasteful - because there is so. much. potential, but also why bother dangling it in front of us in the first place if they won’t go back to it? (again, as is stated in that linked Q+A).
The Empty + Dean + Jack were all catalysts for Cas’ character growth commencing early in the season (climbing out of his depression slump and into the light of self-worth, bit by bit). If Jack and Dean are still around and still playing important roles in Cas’ story, can The Entity really just be cast aside never to be seen again? It feels like a loose thread. Especially since Cas is the only being to EVER awake in The Empty - no doubt that faceless dude wants answers (which he totally made a point of saying to Dead!Cas).
And then there’s Billie, aka, Ms. Death.
She knows something we’re jonesing to know. Dean is important, Death needs Dean — but WHY? What for? What does she know / what are her plans? She’s not happy about the walls between universes breaking down, we know that much. And with God M.I.A. it kinda falls on her to be caretaker of reality, doesn’t it? She’s the last line of defence — or forewarning.
She has spoken of The Empty in the past, revealed she can throw a Human soul in there if she so wishes (and that was back when she was just a lowly Reaper), and yet The Entity told us that ‘Angels and Demons’ come to rest in his domain - no mention at all of Humans. So was it just an idle threat? Or is it actually possible for Human souls to enter that realm, and it took God himself and the creation of Heaven and Hell and the divying up of souls therein to cancel out the need for Human souls to go there?
((—I’ll come back to this in a minute..))
And let’s not forget there’s more than just parallel worlds converging at stake: Heaven is about to crumble and let loose billions of souls to spill out over the Earth, but add to that the comments about Rowena futzing with fate causing a Butterfly Effect - who’s to say her actions haven’t set into motion dangerous consequences that will come to a head in the finale, whatever they may be..?
As for the expected themes of Season 13′s finale:
There has been a long line of beginning-and-end mirrors for previous seasons that would work well with season 13, too - i.e. start with someone dying (physically or otherwise), then bring them back near the end, or vice versa. We had Cas resurrected at the start and met The Entity, so maybe the end will see someone else ‘die’ (in some manner) - i.e. Dean - and welcome back The Entity as a kind of ‘living embodiment of death’, able to walk in the mortal realm by inhabiting Dean.
TheEntity!Dean — I’m here for that. ((—and that theory continues below..))
What would be The Entity’s intention, though..? I don’t know. Maybe it has no choice in the matter and just has to ‘make the best of it’? As for Heaven and all those souls and a lack of angels, I do have a theory:
Ms. Death will open a gateway into The Empty (a bigger hole than she may be accustomed to?) and deposit all the souls from Heaven into that dark abyss for an eternal slumber. Heaven will cease to exist, and perhaps those last remaining Angels will lend their power to Billie in order to open that portal. So: no more Heaven, no more Angels (bar a few, like Lucifer, Jack, Cage!Michael, and perhaps Gabriel and Cas).
Dean somehow helps Billie accomplish this, perhaps by distracting The Empty? Sam and the others help too, but basically we end up with Dean’s soul trapped in The Empty (along with billions of sleeping, distant Human souls from Heaven). While The Entity is either forced out or sneaks out of his realm, stealing Dean’s body on the way and wearing it around Mortalville (I like this idea, because remember Misha’s creepy-awesome Entity voice?! There was a distinct Transatlantic 1940s accent mixed in there, and that would suit Dean’s strange vintage-esque wardrobe perfectly).
But there’s still more to deal with: Lucifer, at least one (bad) Michael, and the portals between universes. Sam, Rowena, Jack, Mary, Cas and our Apoc!world buddies would play into this battle of closure: who will die? Who will kill who? Who will end up where? How will they close the rifts for good? What will become of Jack and Cas and their Angelic grace? Will Apoc!World be made a paradise by certain folks choosing to sacrifice themselves or choose to stay there..?
So. Many. Questions.
I like my Ms.Death-Dean-Entity-Heaven theory for the ending of the season though — Dean ending up where Cas had been in the beginning.
As for Destiel and the hopes of it coming into the forefront, how about this:
The Entity is forced out / accidentally falls out / escapes The Empty after wrestling with Dean on some interdimensional level. Dean is trapped in The Empty (dead or not dead, awake or not awake, and maybe the others realise it or maybe they don’t) and The Empty walks free. But during their tousel, The Entity’s consciousness (or whatever it is) melds and mixes with Dean’s: Dean sees what The Entity sees — or rather, what it saw, its memory of digging into Cas’ memories, thus, Dean sees Cas’ memories — all of his thoughts and feelings. Suddenly, Dean knows truly what Cas thought and felt - secrets about Angelhood and Humanity and Dean himself, all his yearnings and fears and unspoken truths.
Maybe that’s the last scene of Dean this season, or maybe not. But reserved for Season 14 is how Dean deals with discovering all those truths about Cas (among other things, since being trapped in The Empty with no ride out is kinda big deal) — unless he represses them because it’s TOO MUCH (kinda like Rose with the Tardis inside her or Donna being a Timelord). But I swear to Chuck if they really do something like this and then make Dean flat-out deny it like it couldn’t possibly be true and The Entity was just trying to torture or trick him, I WILL explode.
One more thing ..
That beautiful stuff about Dean’s soul and Cas’ grace (which exists mostly in meta and fanfiction, not sure they’ve mentioned it on the show?) would be an amazing addition to the finale this season.
I haven’t mused on how this would weave into the plot and work with battle plans and other characters and all that jazz, but I think it’s something way worth exploring and the timing is kinda perfect, right now.
Ok, maybe one little theory..
The nine Angels use their grace and all of their selves to help funnel the billions of souls through the portal into The Empty, which Dean is helping Ms. Death keep open, somehow. Gabe is manning Heaven with Cas and keeping the portal open on their end as the souls exit. Once they are all gone and the other angels along with them, Heaven will close — or rather, cease to be, and as it collapses in on itself and disappears into nothingness, Gabe goes with it. With his last remaining bit of strength he pushes Cas free of the collapse. Cas survives, now graceless, and the souls are safely in The Empty.
But Dean is gone. He tousled with The Empty, got sucked in during the madness..
Dean awakes in The Empty — not of his own accord, but because something inside him wakes him up — its Cas’ grace. And that will be his way home, somewhow.
Wow.. Okay.. never really done a mega spec-post before, but this was fun.
Please add your thoughts and anything I’ve missed. Also please feel free to yell about your own awesome theories below.

Cas’ Deciding Moment in S13 (this is so Wild Spec)
Please, please, don’t read this if the idea of human!Cas in any way upsets you, okay? I’m not writing this post to anger or appall. This is entirely my own speculation regarding Cas’ arc this season, based in my own hopes for his character progression. I know how much we all love him, and I sincerely don’t want to get anyone in a slapping-faces-because-I-can’t-take-this-shit type of mood. You may slap me if you forego this plea and read this post and want to slap me. *perhaps this post is a ploy to get people to slap me* *shhhhh*
What I Hope Happens to Cas, in Some Narrative Shape or Form, in S13:
1. I hope we see, or it’s implied, that he’s faced with a choice in the Empty and that it’s his own choice to go back to Earth fully-fledged.
2. I hope this is the right choice made for the wrong reasons, meaning–
–to go fight a war –to raise Jack right –to protect the people he loves –Cas once more dresses himself as the weapon, believing, as ever, that his grace, his wings, his powers are the only things about him that will make him a force to be reckoned with –Cas still believing this is true makes returning fully-fledged a choice made for the wrong reasons –but it’s the right choice because Cas has to come back fully-fledged in order to finally gain perspective on what his grace, his wings, his powers really are, what they’ve always been: a yoke, something to hold him back and keep him in his place, a place he’s never chosen for himself, merely been duty bound to.
3. I hope, at some point this season, that fully-fledged, reset, BAMF Castiel is faced with this truth and that it’s delivered through a situational challenge–
–that situational challenge could be Cas being told to bow down to Heaven fully (a Heaven possibly under the new direction of the fanatical Michael, if he crosses over between worlds)  –in this situational challenge, Cas finds himself reminded of Naomi’s brainwashing, of her saying he came off the assembly line wrong, and finally he’ll begin to see his powers for what they really are: a weakness. –I hope that whatever the circumstances surrounding this situation is - hopefully one that is overtly dramatic and foreshadowed - they serve to lead Cas into doing what Anna did, that the circumstances lead to him cutting off his wings and choosing to become human, because he refuses to serve Heaven for another second.
(as he’s already in a vessel we’ll just forget about Anna falling from Heaven and being separated from her grace etc.) (I’d love for Cas’ humanity to be wholly an individual experience… but, again, not terribly fussed)
4. I hope human!Cas happens, and I hope he happens sooner than later, because to me it feels imperative to his character progression that he takes this leap and faces this oncoming war as a human.
This also makes sense to me where the narrative stakes are concerned –>
–> fully-fledged Cas poses a problem because he more or less negates the stakes (the brothers are never in peril of death when they can call out for Superman… sorry, for Cas and he appears) so to have him come back in order to guide Jack in how to open up the rift, for example, and have Cas with his angel mojo back, only to pull that safety rug out from under him in some way… oh it could be beautiful and so fitting for his individual arc.
5. It also gives me this immediate sense of balance because of the Battle of the Brothers angle, where - if we get human!Cas - Michael represents Heaven, Lucifer Hell and Cas Humanity, all three of these concepts knitted together in Jack, who is also the knitting point for TFW, while TFW - with human!Cas onboard - are completely equal for the first time ever (since there’s no cock blocker angel named Gadreel to put the power of Heaven in Sam).
But leaving that for another post.
6. I have a second scenario in mind, where Cas’ refusal to bow to Michael (because he’s powerful enough to do rip another angel’s wings off…) makes Michael do just that - tear off Cas’ wings - and tell him that if he loves man more than his family, he can live and die as a man.
Cas having the choice stripped off him, like it was stripped by Metatron, would serve as punishment for not learning his lessons and choosing to come back fully-fledged, his forced humanity enabling him to learn his final lessons so that he can reject an offer of his powers restored to him by the end of the series.
But I’d rather he makes the BAMF choice for himself now.
They could still have him grappling with it, with the enormity of it, but also show him embracing his new existence even more than he did in the previous human!Cas arc.
7. I love the idea of all this tying into Dean’s freak-out in 12x20, where he did not see Cas looking back at him. The way I see it, the guy he did see was Castiel, which was why he was so utterly freaked: all that growth reduced to nothingness and Cas, his Cas, gone. Dean saw this BAMF Angel of the Lord, who was reliably unreliable and came and went as he pleased, who was such an overwhelming, startling, breathtaking presence that Dean tried - and most often than not failed - to bring him down to Earth as his Cas was burned away. (wrong of course - all wrong wrong wrong) (but it’s an intriguing thread that they might be playing with here)
So, yeah, I think we’re getting Castiel back not only because it’s important he goes through this final stage before his transformation can actually be complete and his choice to become human feels fully informed by the shit-fest that is Heaven, but because Cas returning as BAMF Warrior of Heaven on a mission to protect Jack is going to throw Dean off completely.
I mean, Dean won’t know what the fuck to do, right?
He’ll be so ecstatic to have Cas back and alive, and he IS Cas… and still, he isn’t. I can’t wait to see what they do with it!! It’s a remarkably effective way to slow the love story down, now that Dean is poised for self-examination and real fucking growth. If Cas had come back human then, yeah, the way that they’re truly going balls out with Destiel this season means it simply would not have worked. But if Cas is fully-fledged and becomes human by episode… idk, timelines are so fucking hard, but say by 13x12…
Oh my God, the brain delights if we get that slow build between human!Cas and Dean. Like super slow. Like the human!Cas arc and all the innuendo and flirtation was like a blitz view of what they could be like if both were feeling somewhat on equal footing.
And do you know what else it might mean, if this wild speculation is even in the ballpark of what is up ahead for Cas and Dean?
It might mean that they are building the love story from scratch, tying it back to the beginning for more callbacks than in 12x19, more callbacks that aren’t just spot-it-if-you-know-it, but that actually draws on that old amazingly taut chemistry between these two men, who are so alike and equally stubborn and omfg it could be glorious. Thelma and Louise moments, PLEASE, give us loads of Thelma and Louise moments. Awkward!Dean is my sweet cherry pie!! (and yours too I bet) (if you like sweet cherry) They would do this to ease the GA into the very real realness of how these two men are meant to be together.
I’ve said all this before, many many times, but I’ll say it again and again because goddamnit if this isn’t where this is headed. *hat-eatage*
Here’s what I see:
I see them pushing Dean’s character progression so that, once Cas comes back, Dean is ready to relate to him differently. The fact that Cas has had a reset should, absolutely, give Dean pause, and Cas pause, too, but my hope is that Dean is way too far gone now to even start back peddling. He’s in love with Cas and he has, by some miracle, gotten Cas back, so Dean will try to, awkwardly, show his feelings. Dean wants to show this angel that he matters to him. And it’ll be tentative as all fuck, and it’ll be scary, too, but Dean won’t back down because, damnit, he lost Cas once and he cannot do it again.
((The strain on Dean of fully-fledged Cas fluttering in and out, though. Oh man. And will Cas start out with ties to Heaven again, or purely Jack?? What about that smiley angel who stood by his dead body on that table? What’s her play?? Will Cas’ possible ties to Heaven grow and solidify as the episodes roll by? Oh so much fun!! They can have so much fun with this!!))
I see them reliving Cas and Dean’s greatest hits, putting them face to face in long silent stares and Sam somewhere nearby clearing his throat. While Jack observes them, entranced and fascinated. And of course there’ll be head butting and I really really want protective!Dean, wether Cas is an angel or not, because Cas has died - every time except for one - as an angel, so his powers don’t exactly mean he’s invulnerable and the last time he damn near died for good so Cas can just stay behind him, thanks very much. Ohhhhh. PLEASE PLEASE. We want it! We all want it!!
Keep them together! Please. If it’s made sweet and irresistible and undeniable, the GA will be as enamoured with them as the rest of us have always been. And if they’re not - FUCK THEM. My God, Dean and Cas deserve this. They both deserve to be happy!! Together! But the deciding moment will be when Cas decides, for himself, to become human, and the beauty of the above setup is that even if we see Dean trying to show Cas how he feels, fully-fledged and utterly graced Cas will not be able to relate to Dean’s flirtation (I mean, hell, even very humanised Cas in S12 still squinted at Mandy flirting with him in the absolutely most audacious manner one can flirt with another person) and the love story won’t kick off before Cas is human.
And once he is human, well, then there’s the fear as an obstacle to overcome because, all of a sudden, the thought of a future together will seem very real. And possibly probably very, very, very scary. :P *crossing fingers and toes*
I so see positive endgame, my peeps. All the way!!

Still catching up with all the excitement about the latest episode. :) Has it been mentioned that Dean may have also felt uncomfortable around Jack because he absorbed some of Michael’s grace? As if looking at Jack and his altered behavior triggers Dean’s Michael trauma?
Hi there! And isn’t it fun? This was just a delightful episode, even though it dealt with some pretty dark themes (mind control, free will, identity, morality, etc.). Which is always a refreshing switchup on Supernatural.
I think there’s a lot of reasons that Dean would feel uncomfortable around Jack right now:
Jack is a Teenager™ in terms of emotional development, even before The Incident with Michael last week. Teenagers are by nature volatile beings, and Jack has a heck of a lot more potential danger wrapped into him than the average emo teen
Dean is currently Tired™. Like, not just regular-tired, but emotionally wrung out from his own ordeal with Michael. He’s been living with this all season to this point, and he’s tentatively adjusting to the fact that Michael really is gone from him now. I mean, he had a brief reprieve for a handful of episodes before, but what happened to him in 14.09 was such an unsettling violation that he then had to deal with all over again, combined with facing an eternity trapped with Michael in the Drama Coffin, and the guilt of thinking that again he was responsible for Michael escaping, killing all the AU hunters in the bunker, in their home, for being “not good enough” to stop Michael from escaping because of how hard Sam has taken the murders of all of his hunters and is now running himself into the ground to both avoid dealing with the trauma of their deaths AND to compensate for the loss of these hunters and trying to do the work of a dozen people himself... Talk about a lot of reasons to feel emotionally and physically exhausted.
The unsettling shift in Jack now, after he’s spent some real quality time with Jack until recently. He’d finally allowed himself to make this emotional connection with Jack this season, and like he felt toward soulless!Sam before he learned what was really wrong with him in s6, his behavior toward Jack in this episode has felt similarly wary and arm’s-length, whether or not he makes this connection in so many words inside his own head. A lot of his reactions to Jack have seemed subconscious, even while he see him displaying this conscious effort to analyze Jack directly, even taking him to visit with the one soulless person he knows for help.
and let’s not forget the direct personal guilt he likely feels that Jack was even put into that position to sacrifice his own soul in his confrontation with Michael in the first place, because to Dean, if he’d only been “strong enough” to keep Michael locked up, or if he’d only ignored his loved ones and gone through with the Drama Coffin plan, Jack could’ve been safe. I mean this entire misconception is prefaced on the fact that Dean had no idea that Jack was already beginning to suffer the effects of Nephilim Consumption that had led to his original death, and had already been burning up bits of his soul to heal himself and hide his symptoms from everyone else. So of course some of this guilt is misplaced, just as some of Sam’s guilt over the deaths of his hunters is misplaced, but guilt is not rational. And to the Winchesters, they have a long, long history of bearing this sort of burden for the entire world, you know? Gotta save ‘em all, and it’s entirely on them if they fail.
And yeah, a lot of this is also tangled up with Dean’s recent trauma with Michael, and the potential fear that some bit of Michael’s influence could’ve tainted Jack now, even if Jack insists he’s himself again and that all the parts that made up Michael are actually burned off and gone now.
We saw glimpses of Sam’s Mental State, and the trauma that is currently haunting him in the flashes of the dead hunters around the War Room, but from the very first clip of Dean in the THEN segment, we were reminded of 4.06 (yes, in a humorous, snake-relevant fashion, but still...), which was an episode specifically about fear, and weaponized fear at that.
So Dean is kind of experiencing a bit of an emotional overload, physical and mental exhaustion, guilt, relief, worry, and is still being run ragged by Sam’s current coping strategy of keeping himself so busy hunting that he doesn’t have to face his personal trauma that he hasn’t even had a moment to breathe (or consume one (1) giant freaking sandwich in the privacy of his own kitchen) without this manic energy pulling him along into Yet Another Hunt.
Basically, there is A Lot informing all of TFW’s current mental states, and of course they’re all processing and dealing differently, because they’ve all experienced different aspects of these shared traumas and they all cope with their particular burdens in different ways.
But heck if they aren’t taking strides toward acknowledging all of this, too. I just had to squeeze this in there because I’ve got another few anons in my inbox who seem to have entirely missed like... all of this... for whatever reasons, and it’s clear their view of the situation is not... objective... whatever. Moving on!
There’s a whole complex of issues that are affecting Dean’s reaction to Jack, including his very real worry (tinged with guilt and abject fear and the aftereffects of his trauma related to Michael) of what this has done to Jack now. And he doesn’t even KNOW about the deal Cas made with the Empty yet to preserve Jack’s humanity, and the fact that it all might be for naught if-- as Dean once said to Sam way back in 4.04 after having suffered 40 years in Hell for the sake of saving Sam’s life once upon a time--
DEAN: Slippery slope, brother. Just wait and see. Because it's gonna get darker and darker, and God knows where it ends.SAM: I'm not gonna let it go too far.DEAN: It's already gone too far, Sam. If I didn't you know... I would wanna hunt you.
Dean’s watched these sorts of good intentions go bad too many times not for that to be reason enough to handle situations like this with Extreme Caution, you know?
