I would like there to be a fic where the "three solobrats" and early love interests (YJK, JJK era, so A/T, J/TK, J/Z) end up time-travelling to the prequel era (probably shortly after Geonosis), and the Organa-Solo kids are excited to meet their not-evil-yet granddad.

This goes off the rails when Tahiri freaks out as soon as Anakin 1.0 enters because that is the monster of folklore who slaughtered a whole tribe of Tuskens, down to the youngest baby.

Because you can't convince me that in this AU a) Anakin doesn't go down as some sort of ghost/horror story in Tusken culture, and b) curious baby force-sensitive Tahiri didn't wander off at some point and end up seeing the echo of the slaughter.

The prequel-era council obviously freaks out about 1. the time travel, 2. some of the time travelers are Anakin 1.0's descendants, 3. Anakin 1.0 apparently committed genocide (note: the fandom doesn't view this with the right amount of horror, even in light of his second genocide--the Jedi), and decides to temporarily suspend his duties until they can perform an investigation of sorts into his decision-making capabilities.

Anakin 1.0 is initially thrilled because OMG GRANDKIDS and one of them is named after him (wahoo!!), but quickly becomes pissy because the friend of his mini-me (EW, she was raised by Tusken Raiders [careful Ani1, your racism is showing] even though she's human) gets him in trouble with the council.

Anakin 2.0 now has even more issues/worries about his namesake, and turning out like him [note: this was a big plot point in his early appearances].

Jaina & Jacen are kinda worried about this because now their granddad was bad from an earlier point??? and they don't know what to do with that. (Jacen is jumping from joy because a bunch of animals that went extinct during the Empire's rule are still alive; Jaina finds out there were apparently seven lightsaber forms before Knightfall, and decides to crash all the basic training classes. This is hilarious because she's older than the enrolled students for the more basic forms like Shii-cho.)

Tenel Ka and Zekk are along for the ride:

("Wait, she's the heir to the Hapes Consortium?" "yes" "and they're letting her be a Jedi too?" "yep" "politically is that allowed?!?" "I mean her mom's from Dathomir?" **jedi padawan noises of imploded worldview**)

("so Zekk what about you" "oh, I'm a Coruscanti street rat :)" "ah ok, so the order found you easily!" "I guess your version would, but the Jedi got massacred, so I didn't start training until I was a teenager :)" **choking noises** "oh yeah, Emperor Palpatine was a total hardass, I'm so glad my friend's parents got rid of him, I'd probably be dead or totally evil if he was still in power" --at this point the padawan(s?) they're chatting to [maybe Barriss; she seems politically aware enough to worry about the heir of a major political power also being a Jedi--she's probably also read about Xanatos] decides to bring them to the council)

It goes something like "Didn't they mention, Darth Vader & the clones slaughtered pretty much the entire Order. Some of the younger padawans escaped (their masters died for them (and oh, doesn't that hit hard)) and ran until dark siders who served the Emperor hunted them down (this can be vaguely compliant with some Rebels content; assume the Rebellion-era is more fusion with new canon, except Thrawn doesn't engage as much with the Lothal cell, and thus is around for the Thrawn trilogy on to proceed (thus inquisitors exist and so too do the Hands--maybe Mara is Palpy's spy in the inquisorius's ranks; Starkiller can be Vader's; Death Star plan theft follows TFU more than R1) it hits hard that some of their own (their children, their future) work to destroy the vestiges of what they were).

Then they find out that Darth Vader, the Sith Apprentice--the emperor's attack dog, his right hand--is Anakin (1.0), the boy they took in, the one they protected, the one some viewed as their savior, the boy winning battle after battle, the one shining bright, the Hero With No Fear, the boy whose fear of losing everything, everyone he cares about is slowly tearing him to shreds, the foolish, foolish boy who will doom the galaxy to save one person and fail at that, the buy who burned and burned, scorching those around him until he was alone, and still burning, until he burned himself to save another foolish boy, the younger burning like a candle, steadily, warmly, rather than like the sun, and Anakin (they can't bring themselves to hate him, even knowing what he will do--they see the sweet child who loved his mother, who wanted to free all the slaves in the galaxy), seeing the warm, kind candlelight of the other boy, the brave, foolish child, his child, his son, and knowing he will burn him, sees the vacuum of space (the cold, cold man who made him burn everyone, who made him lose everyone, until only the vacuum was left behind, the only one he could not burn away), sure to take the air around the lone, kind candle, and the sun (Anakin) burns itself (himself) out, becomes a supernova to push the vacuum (empty, cold, always hungry) away from the candle (the son), and saves the brave, foolish boy who came to help him, but he feared burning most of all (the burning sun of Tatooine burns himself out, after burning with hatred for the better part of two decades, for another desert child, one who burns with warmth, like a hearthfire, and asks for the girl who burns (with the passion of justice, with compassion, the girl who is like him but not for instead of burning the world for those she loves, she who would burn herself out, the girl who would burn her enemies (those who seek the harm the world) for any who deserve kindness, who burns internally, but is willing to burn others as well) to forgive him, and she does, eventually, she names her steady hearthfire of a son after him, and hopes against hope that he (her son, one of her three suns) will have a happy ending, that he will not burn himself out like his grandfather, his namesake [Anakin, her son, he burns too: for his siblings (they will burn as well, his brother like his grandfather--maybe he should have been Anakin instead--and his sister, burning, the one to put out her twin's light, twin suns of Tatooine, one snuffed out the other), his friends (they break apart, the group splintering, fragmented after the war is won; even before), his love (she breaks, in a way not even being shaped by the black holes, put under pressure in the hope of her becoming one, can do; for a while she fades away to almost nothing, invisible, until the brother, seeing the broken, invisible girl takes her, and tries to make the broken puppet of a girl dance for him; it works for a time, building more cracks in her skin until she shatters, and the people who loved him, Anakin the second, the bright boy who burned himself away too soon, see the girl again, no longer invisible, and try to help her [pray they are not too late to put her (shattered, porcelain, crushed spirit, a shell of her former bright self) together again]), for the galaxy; but at this part of the story we don't know his fate, to burn and burn until there is nothing left, until the force takes him away, to burn so hot, so bright, so light, that his enemies (true voids in the force--black holes--not like the cold, hungry vacuum that desired, took the sun of his grandfather) burned away as well; he burns away, but as a hero. This does not stop his mother from her agony; it is all his father can do to hold himself together to stop her shattering like the girl everyone forgot, the invisible girl who loved his son, who would (and does) do anything for the memory of a boy who left the galaxy too soon].

This is the story they tell: of the angry sun who burns everyone (especially even those who offer him kindness), the boy-candle, the girl who burns with the heat of a thousand suns but never harms those undeserving of that fury, the scoundrel with the hard exterior who inside is kind, the brave wookie warrior who lives [and dies, though they will not know it for a time] to protect them, the saviors of the galaxy;

and others as well: the girl who was almost snuffed out by the vacuum, who burned as a quiet ember, whose flame was reawakened by the boy-candle; the boy who parallels her, who was trained by the angry sun to burn like him but refused, who burned out over and over again trying to prove himself, and, in the end, burned out to save the galaxy, who sent the message to the rebels that worked to end the war [the message, that, too late for some, still saved billions, perhaps trillions of lives, had it not been sent (how many worlds could have shared Alderaan's fate?)].

you never took your boyfriend as the jealous type, a little misunderstanding unveils a whole new side to noah.

a/n: omg im so happy to take a noah shaw request thx for this. and him jealous?? love ur mind bff. i havent read the confessions of noah shaw trilogy yet, so im basing info off the mara dyer trilogy - hope that's alright !! au ig bc no specific timeline??.

also ik this fc is italian and noah is british, but he is who i imagined the whole time while reading so let a girl dream <3

"oh my gosh, shut up!"

"yes, please shut up." noah mumbles to himself, his arms crossed in discontent. hearing your laugh usually was angelic music to his ears. but now it only sounded like a mocking melody created to provoke him.

noah watched as you, unknowing of his thoughts, stood in the kitchen immersed in conversation and light banter with daniel, mara's older brother. you laughed at whatever he was saying, playfully hitting the side of his arm. something soured inside noah the more he watched the interaction.

"dude, you keep looking at them as if you're trying to blow daniel's head up." jamie remarked, walking up next him with a can of soda in his hand.

if only, noah thought. but lucky for daniel, his gift only enabled him to heal people.

stella and the dyers were in the house's living room filled with various streamers and party decor, while you were in the kitchen with daniel, if that hadn't been clear enough. noah bitterly watched, leaning up against the wall of the hallway with a direct view of the interaction through the kitchen entrance. he was sure the scowl on his face hadn't moved since he started keeping his attention on you both.

your reason for even going in the kitchen had been to put candles and bring the cake out while mara's mother found a camera to record mara blowing out candles. it was daniel who got up by his own account from the couch and insisted he help you out. it was also him who started distracting you from the task by talking with you.

it started when you all gathered at mara's house in celebration of her birthday. her mother insisted she invited you all to the houses as a merit for mara's improvement with therapy, or at least tha's what she believed. jamie may have possibly fed her fibs involving mara's mental health with his compulsion.

your connection with the dyers had a long history, one noah was still learning. you befriended mara around the first grade after getting partnered up for a school project. you two hit it off, both having weird persoanlities of your own, but she was already friends with rachel at the time, so you remained solely school friends for years. you were also a very smart kid, which is how you also befriended daniel almost immediately after mara. weirdly enough, it wasn't through mara you both met - it was through the school's book club. later, you found out the two were related.

so, you started finding yourself at the dyer house a lot, but it was to hang out with daniel. you remained a common occurrence in mara's life, but couldn't seem to get closer than friend. you had invited her to hang out various times, but she always had the excuse of already having plans with rachel. you never took it personally, or let it wipe the smile off your face, you had other friends - that included daniel.

it wasn't until the arrival of claire and jude did your dynamic change. mara began getting excluded from claire and rachel's hangouts and found herself losing her closest friend. you took notice of mara's loneliness during school, and once again offered to hang out, and for the first time - mara accepted. she realized she really liked having you around, and you moved up from possibly last in her last to being somewhere on top.

mara still remained friends with claire and rachel, she wanted to include you in their hangouts, but you got the feeling the other girls didn't like you much, and claire's brother jude gave you a feeling of discomfort. out of courtesy you did accept an invite every now and then, but you liked it better when it was just the two of you and sometimes daniel.

on the night of the asylum, you were spending the night at mara's house, unaware and what was suppose to happen. when jude showed up, she explained then pleaded for you to join her. you were scared out of your mind, but still followed her out the window.

inside, rachel and claire dragged you away to give mara and jude alone time, but you knew something was off. you were right because jude had cornered mara when you returned. you immediately pushed jude off, and he, in retaliation, shoved you back. then, the asylum was brought down, later learned to be mara's doing, and you and her were the sole survivors. at least that was assumed at the time.

when mara's family announced their move, you pleaded with your parents for the same. you argued a new start was the best option, and it was better to be around someone that went through the same traumatic experience. by some miracle, your parents agreed and moved to miami.

you met noah through school and with your active involvement in mara's messes. at first, noah had highly doubted the two of you were friends, you were like opposite sides of the same coin. mara had bleak and ominous aura to her while you were upbeat and vibrant. in simple, mara was a black cat, and you, the orange cat.

unlike him and the majority of your friends, you weren't supernatural. at least not genetically. however, you were oddly immune to their abilities for a reason no one had an figured out yet.

your normalness is what drew noah to you at first, he thought it to be weird and admirable how despite not being supernatural, you went along and supported mara through the whole thing. as you grew closer, it extended to noah as well. he was never annoyed by your energetic attiude, your optomism, or your corny humor. he saw you as the sun that never saw the night sky. he wanted nothing more than to protect that brightness.

it took a while for you to accept his advances, the school rumors did nothing to help. you had genuinely assumed noah and mara were into each other, so you were a bit oblivious to his flirtations. noah had thought you were just uninterested, his pursing of you slowing dying. it was all cleared up when you offhandedly mentioned your assumption, and noah made sure you understood he had no romantic notions for mara. he kissed you for the first time that same day. eventually, it turned into a relationship.

noah was secure in his relationship with you. maybe he wasn't the best man, but he knew no one could love you like him. though he had serious issues of his own, he didn't have any doubts about how deep the two of you cared for each other.

he blames mara for bringing unwanted thoughts into his mind.

everyone was seated in the living room watching twilight new moon, in honor of mara turning eighteen. it had been suggested as a joke by you, but it ended up being played and invested in by the group. you were sat on noah's lap, his arm around your waist and your back to his chest. mara's mother had come in and asked you for the favor, so you stood up, gave noah a kiss on the cheek and walked off, daniel leaving a bit after. after daniel had followed you into the kitchen, mara shook her head and silently laughed, taking a sip of her drink.

noah noticing, raises a brow, "what are you laughing about?"

mara glances toward the kitchen and shakes her head, "nothing. it's just typical of daniel to do that." she says nonchalantly.

"typical of him to do what?" jamie, now invested in this conversation instead of the movie, asked.

mara shrugs, "he just always wants to help y/n, ever since we were kids. he would carry her backpack and books, help her do homework, and bandage any bruise or cut she got." she turns her head back to the tv, then smiles at a memory, "there was even a time when her date for the eighth-grade dance bailed, he stepped in. i think he does it subconsciously at this point."

noah had never thought about just how deep your friendship with daniel ran. he knew you were used to be closer to him, but he didn't think much of it because of how close you and mara were now. he had never actually seen you both interact much since he's known you.

noah glances around the room and sees the wall with various family photos. he begins to notice your involvement in a lot of photos, many which included daniel. in fact, there were more with daniel and you together rather than you and mara. he notes the photos of matching halloween costumes, birthday parties, and school events all involving the two of you, mara making a guest appearance in some. but the big picture was obvious - you had a long-lasting friendship with daniel.

jamie stuffs a handful of popcorn in his mouth, "sounds like he had a crush on her." noah's jaw clenches hearing that.

noah has known daniel since he's met mara. by this point, they were pretty good friends. he believes if daniel held any sort of affection toward you, he'd be able to see it. but then again, it wasn't as if the topic of you came up very frequently when the two hung out.

"i don't think-"

stella piped up with her input, having silently listened to the conversation, "yeah, my dad use to act like that around my mom before they got together. they were best friends for years before he finally confessed, and she even had a boyfriend at the time."

who even asked her?, noah thought.

"maybe, i wouldn't be surprised. my mom always wanted them to end up together, she already sees her as another daughter. i actually think he was her first kiss." mara responds, still focused on the film.

noah's senses sharpened at the mention of first kiss, "first kiss?"

mara realizing what she said tries to backtrack, "well, i mean, it's only a theory, but it's really nothing, noah."

noah can now feel stella and jamie cast their attention on his reaction. he leans back in his seat, uncaring, "doesn't bother me, past is the past."

that was enough for mara and the others to turn their heads back to the television. but, noah could no longer pay attention to bella and jacob on the screen.

jamie, the closest to noah on the coach, leans in to him, "personally, if that was me, i'd be overthinking this thing. i mean childhood friends is the gateway to lovers. but, hey, it's cool to see you're not that type of guy." then as if nothing, he goes back to stuffing his face with popcorn.

noah didn't know why a burning sensation began to build within him at the image of you two. he told himself it didn't matter that you were currently in the kitchen with him, alone.

noah excused himself to the bathroom, but his real intention was toward the kitchen. he told himself he wasn't jealous; he was just going to check on you like a good boyfriend. he was totally not jealous when he saw daniel close next to you, helping you place candles. nor did he feel an intense rage seeing your hands occasionally brush over each other. at least that's what he told himself.

it didn't help that you were the prettiest girl; your hair let loose, but still looked pristine, you wore a baby pink lace top with a small rose on the top middle, a gold chained necklace with a crystal heart, tiny gold hoops, on your bottom is a denim mini skirt accompanied by a sparkly belt, then to finish off you wore white knee high knitted socks with baby blue converse that had embroidered stars all over.

on the other side, noah just wore a plain gray tee and some loose-fitting black jeans. the only accessory he had on being a gold-chain necklace and a michael kors watch, both which you'd gifted him.

she's everything, he's just ken.

"why are we weirdly staring at y/n and daniel." mara had appeared out of nowhere and now joined the conversation. she had come with the purpose of informing her brother and best friend her mother was ready for them, but instead ran into jamie and noah in front of the kitchen entrance.

jamie shrugs, "i don't know, i found him like this."

noah, not paying attention to them, mutters, "since when does bringing a cake involve two fucking people."

mara looks at you and daniel in the kitchen then back at noah, "this isn't because of what i said right?" she asks noah.

"don't know what you mean." he denies.

jamie rolls his eyes, "de nile is a river in egypt. you are acting like a jealous boyfriend."

mara agrees, "seriously, you've got nothing to worry about. y/n is crazy about you, and daniel is into that new friend of his."

noah doesn't respond; he pushes himself from the wall he leaned on and waltzes into the kitchen.

jamie cackles, "this is gonna be great."

"shouldn't we do something?" mara questions feeling a bit guilty.

jamie gives mara a look, "c'mon, you can't say watching shaw feel threatened for once isn't the least bit entertaining."

mara shrugs, "fair enough."

noah walks into the kitchen, your back facing him as you talk to daniel. he doesn't say anything as he wraps his arms around his frame and fits his head in the crook of your neck. he gives a few small kisses on the side of your neck.

your conversation comes to a stop once noahs antics begin. you smile and move a hand to ruffle through his hair, "hey baby, what brings you in here?"

daniel also greets noah, but he ignores it. noah hums in contentment at your touch, "just wanted to let you know mara's mom is ready for you to bring out the cake."

daniel laughs, "right, that's what we come in here for. if only you hadn't sidetracked us with your horrible placement of candles."

you gasp, offended, dropping your hand from noah's hair, "hey! my placement was perfect, you're the on-"

"i think i hear mara calling us." noah interrupts. it was a lie, mara went back to being immersed in twilight new moon.

daniel nods and goes to carry the cake himself, and you're about to help him out, but noah hold you tight - stopping you. "let's go get seated before we sing happy birthday, i'm sure he has it covered here, don't you daniel?" noahs states with a passive aggressive tone.

you give noah a weird glance, and daniel either didn't pick up on the attitude or ignored it because he replied in his usual preppy tone, "yeah, i've got things handled over here, you guys go on ahead."

noah wastes no time in taking you to the dining room. you didn't comment on noah's attitude back there and brushed it off, thinking you might've read into things. you're blind to the glances exchanged between mara and jamie when you both return.

you go to take a seat next to noah, but he pulls up down onto his lap.

you frown, "but there's a seat right there."

"the leg is super wobbly on that one," noah then kicks one of the chair legs very hard, enough to make the once stable leg now unstable, "see? i wouldn't want my girl to hurt herself."

you kiss his cheek, "you're the best boyfriend," you tell him appreciatively.

"tell that to daniel." noah whispers.

"what was that?"

"hm? nothing."

everyone begins taking their seat at the table once daniel comes out with the cake. you inform mrs. dyer of the broken chair, which she was surprised to hear, commenting how it was fine that same morning.

everyone stands up as the happy birthday anthem begins, mara being sat in front of the cake, awkwardly waits for the singing to stop. you and jamie make sure to prolong the song as much as possible to annoy mara. she conveyed her appreciation by throwing gestures your way when he mom wasn't looking. when it does end, everyone sits down and gets a piece of cake. daniel takes a seat next too you and noah, and he notices you both sharing a chair.

being the gentleman he is, he offers his seat to you, "here, i'll stand and you can sit here-"

you grab his arm to stop him from standing, "no, no, it's alright i'm-"

noah doesn't let you finish, "she's fine here. she's used to being situated on my lap, in more way than one."

mara chokes on her drink, stella gives a disgusted look, and jamie is biting into the knuckles of his fist to stop a laugh from leaving him. daniel is visibly uncomfortable at his comment and mutters an ‘alright’ and sits back down. luckily for you, both of mara’s parents were busy handing out cake to tune into the conversation.

you turn to noah with an incredulous look, your face beginning to flush at his innuendo. noah gives you a shrug and feigns innocence, seeing no issue with his comment.

mara did you the favor of speaking up with a new topic to move past the awkward tension.

eventually, the others retreated to the living room, taking plates of cake with them. you took the chance to talk to noah privately.

you turn your head to the side and lower your voice to a whisper, “why would you say that?”

“what? it’s not like it isn’t true…” his words trails off as he leans down to kiss the crook of your neck. noah starts nibbling gently, but enough to leave faded marks on your skin.

you roll your eyes,"rather not have our friends gag before the cake." you assert.

"why? is it because you don't want dear old daniel to hear." noah mutters bitterly.

you turn your body in his lap to look at him. you furrow your brows, "why are you acting like this? i thought i was jumping to conclusions, but ever since daniel and i were in the kitchen-" noah jaw clenches at the mention of you and daniel.

"see, there you go again. anything daniel related, and you-" you cut your sentence short in realization. you should've seen it sooner, but it was the most obvious at this moment. noah was jealous.

your faces shift from confusion to amusement, and you let out a small laugh. noah was lost on the your change in demeanor, "what? why are you laughing?" he questions.

"you're jealous," your eyes widen in realization,"that's why you've been acting so weird."

he roll his eyes and shakes his head. "no, that's absurd."

"it's cute, really. i hadn't thought of you as the type." you coo at him, going as far as pinching his cheek a bit. noah retaliates and swats your hand away.

"i'm not the type," noah denies, "i've just come to the realization how annoying daniel is."

you nod, playing along, "right, the same daniel you hang out with every week. daniel. who you've called your best friend, and the one you saved from death."

"people's opinions change," noah defends, but you're still not buying into it.

"—and mara may or may not mentioned him possibly liking you at some point." noah adds in quickly.

your head snaps, "what? daniel doesn't like nor has he ever liked me."

"c'mon, you've been friends for so long and mara just happens to think he was your first kiss."

your eyebrows furrow, confused by noah words. ten, it hits you, and you can't help but snort as you remember.

"this is painfully embarrassing to admit, but that was a rumor we made up at school so people thought i'd kissed someone."you confess.

noah eyes narrow, "so you and daniel.."

"never kissed?" you finish for him,"nope, but my entire middle school class thought we did."

"perhaps, i acted a bit hastily before." your boyfriend grumbles.

"jealous." you correct in a fit of faux coughs.

noah groans in your shoulder, "i hate this feeling, make it stop."

you shrug, "it's not totally bad. it could mean you care about me so much, you hate the thought of losing me to someone else. which you won't, so you have nothing to worry about."

"promise?"

"cross my heart and hope to die." you recite heartily, drawing an x motion over your chest.

noah looks at you in adoration before leaning in to connect your lips. you hum contently, and weave a hand through his soft hair.

"unless it's my celebrity crush, then you should definitely start worrying."

"careful darling," he leans down to whisper in your ear, "i'd hate to have mara put her powers to use."

Talking about our lovely duo there, i came to realization that i might finally know whats going on! I think...I think after Vios "death" Mara might have "disappeared" to work with Vio on a plan to bring down Miri. Did they make a pact? So they're kinda here, close to us, watching over us and guiding us to kill her. And they definitely have a plan about it. That's what i thought when you said plan is coming. So what if its their plan, not ours or Dimitrescus? But then again, why would they be around us and the girls and Lady D and just watch us fall in love with people Mara was kind of into..? Is it okay with her then? Was it okay with Vio to watch us fall in love with Donna too? I dunno, honestly. If they are alive it would be a mess. An epic mess where all of Miris servants turn against her.

okay, so to start off, i wanna say it wasn't my intention to imply you were in any way dumb in my comment on ao3. I've kinda realized that in my writing, a lot of the time, i don't quite write things the way they should be because they make sense to me, even if they won't make sense to others. but! everything is confusing and (intentionally) misleading right now, since we're only seeing this story from one person's POV when there was SO MUCH going on. but you're definitely not dumb; the fact that you're analyzing everything and actually coming pretty close (i won't say to what ;) ) to what's going on is astounding and just makes me so happy.

the one thing i wanna say about Mara and Vio that you mentioned: in the story, it is fact that Mara got the fruit flies to attack Vio, though what the reader saw (at the beginning of chapter eight? i think?) was not actually what happened. that part hasn't been revealed yet, but it will be soon enough. i will say that anything the reader sees through a character's eyes (like through Vio or Mara's eyes) is not 100% accurate, but anything they see as though they were a bystander IS accurate. so, the Vio/Donna scene, accurate. the scene where Miranda finds a dying Vio in the snow, accurate. the scene where Mara and Vio are arguing in the chapel... not so accurate. does that make sense? i hope it does. anything they see through a character's eyes is usually corrupted by what THEY would do in that situation rather than what actually happened.

i'm hoping to clear up a few things in the next chapter, as someone from the MC's past is going to be revealed and become an important person in the plan of taking Miranda down. she'll shed some light on a few things, but until then, I'll leave the rest up to you >:) i won't give you any spoilers, but i will help nudge you in the right direction. i do hope that when everything IS revealed, it'll be a big, "OHHHHH" moment bahaha.

it definitely can be difficult to write something, and I've had a lot of hard moments trying to write these recent chapters. i lost motivation for a while, which i knew was going to happen when i was updating it like once a week (10k words per chapter every week was not a smart move). but, honestly, as tiring as it can get, what keeps me going is knowing at least one person out there is enjoying the story and what I'm creating. so, really, your comments and messages mean the absolute world to me. i go back and read them when I'm having a rough day. thank you so much for everything you've written and continue to do, i hope you have the loveliest day and week <3333

Favorite Thing About Them:

Pffff everything…. 👀🤣. Okay but honestly one of my favorite qualities about him is how respective he is to not just everyone, but also to Bia in particular. When she doesn’t feel comfortable telling him everything (whether it’s about her sister or her feelings) he understands that and doesn’t push her to talk. He would usually just say “well if you need me though I’m always here for you.” And when Bia wasn’t ready to be in a relationship with her, instead of persuading her or pushing her to be in one, he understood and respected that. This character KNOWS boundaries and respects it completely. He gives her distance when she needs it. He’s always polite about everything and doesn’t try to force anything from anyone. He believes he can help everyone and so that’s what he always tries to do. That quality right there for me is definitely rare in a character but very much needed. So yes chef’s kiss 🥰

Least Favorite Thing About Them

Even the sweet like sugar characters aren’t perfect and make mistakes. In season two, when he discovered who his biological father was, I understand his dismay and resentment towards the situation. What I didn’t like at all though is how he treated Bia. The whole time, she was trying to help him feel better and be there for him. Instead though he used that anger to push Bia away which was such a big mistake. The least, the LEAST of all people he should push away is Bia because she’s always tried to be there for him and comfort him. She truly cares and has always been just trying to help. Plus she went through a lot with Helena, especially when she was starting to finally get hope again about the possibility of her being alive and there in Buenos Aires. But she’s never pushed people away, nor unreasonably treated them bad. I understand everyone experience emotional situations differently but Bia didn’t deserve that treatment. Thankfully though, he apologized in the end so he was back to being the happy, caring, respectful person he is 💞

Favorite Line:

“No hablas asi de ella.” I found it to be really sweet when Manuel defended Bia against Alex since he was behaving really rudely and would always scrutinize her so it was sweet to see him standing up for her. Plus I can’t think of any other lines at the moment, which there are some that I prefer more than this one it’s just nothing comes to my head at this moment 😆

Also “El Puma de Amor” that line is just so iconic for me.

Ngl him and Jhon was such a great duo/best friends. Jhon was definitely not the brightest and horrible with dating advice/dating in general and so it always made me laugh how when Manuel would give him good advice he would interpret it as the complete opposite. 😂

This is going to be soooo random but him and Shawn Mendes are related. (They’re not of course) but in an imaginary world they are since they not only look very similar but also are very talented musicians (Manuel also loves playing the piano and whenever he does it reminds me of Shawn playing the piano). So yes they’re related and Manuel even follows him on Instagram too. If you guys don’t see the similarities, highly recommend you watch Stitches by Shawn Mendes first then go watch the Cuando Paso music video. You’ll probably see why there 😌😂

Unpopular Opinion:

I don’t know if this is unpopular or not but I LOVE Manuel in Bia Un Mundo Al Reves and even though it was weird to see him very differently, he did an incredible job with the role and was definitely my favorite character from BUMAR. For me, he was the best out of all of them (I had some favorites as well but seeing him act the complete opposite while acting very interesting and the way he presented his lines. It’s just so iconic). I haven’t thought of any other unpopular opinions about him but if I do I’ll let you guys know 🤔

Apparently 13th is the highest my conscience will let me rank “Still breathing” because LMFAO this song is AWFFFFULLLLL. 

Is this take a surprise? Let’s be honest. Samanta Tina does NOT do good quality music, babes. Samanta Tina does whatever the fuck Samanta Tina wants and we... well some of us love her for it I suppose, but I mostly just look at her works, ye mighty and despair. 

So of course when she showed up in Supernova, I was obviously extremely cautious because ‘Cutting the wire’ was so woeful it gave me fucking night terrors. But it looked like she was co-operating with Aminata, so maybe she could channel pure Aiste Pilvelyte and erupt in an outcry of I’M LIKE VVOOLF.

Except, SURPRISE  Aminata was merely the lyricist and Samanta composed the instrumentation herself: A literal chain of camel farts and klaxon noises that served as an amplifier for Samanta Polakova, Feminist Extra-Ordinaire PATHOLOGICAL NARCISSIST SAMANTA DEMON. 😍😍😍😍😍 Lmfao at the entire “female empowerment angle” btw. “Still Breathing” empowers exactly one woman, and that’s Samanta herself . The song’s actual purpose is to give a subtle middle finger to the country that spat her out at least seven times, but she obviously can’t say that out loud so she quickly created some pseudofeminist narrative to cover it up <3

Then 2020′s signature Freak Factor struck and  she won Supernova when her international fans hijacked the internet vote. Haven DVD Commentaries; 5.11 - Reflections

Commentary with Shernold Edwards (writer for the episode) and Shireen Razack (writer for the next episode), and also a bit with Josh the assistant. I love this commentary, Shernold and Shireen are both really fun; they probably laugh as much as they talk throughout this. 

SR: It was really freaking fun [joining Haven this season] because I’d been a big fan of Haven beforehand, so being able to join on the writing staff and be part of the mythology for the last season - oh, can we say that? SE: Yep. SR: That was pretty awesome, seeing it to the end. SE: Oh! Yeah.

SE: So, maybe we could talk about where we came up with the ideas for the story, I think - oh poor thing! [photo of a dead Peter Palak on screen]. Shireen and I wrote this as a block together, and many of the blocks up to this point in this season have been continuations; parts one and two of things. SR: Yeah, which isn’t as true with these two. Because originally we had a couple of the characters cross over, but 5.12 ended up being almost a complete stand alone. SE: Yeah, so I guess - oh that’s a cute jacket [on Audrey]. SR: This is probably my favourite part of this episode [as Nathan is talking to Audrey in the station about her being ill]. I’ve always been a Naudrey, and Shernold is more of a Daudrey, so between the two of us we… SE: Hey. I am not a Daudrey. SR: Well you have to admit that we would get into some heated discussions about the Duke and Nathan of it all. SE: Yeah the Duke and Nathan of it all, but. You know; Audrey belongs with who she belongs with... (SR: Which is Nathan) SE: ... And for those who feel like this was fan fiction, trying to get Duke with his own version of Audrey; that’s not true. SR: It is a little true. SE: It’s not true! [both laughing] SE: You’re unravelling all the good work coming up in the commentary with Lucas Bryant. SR: OK, I’ll take it back.

SE: Anyway, I did have a lot of fun writing this because I had an opportunity to see Emily, who is really fantastic at both roles, to see how she as the actress, or rather as the two characters, interacts with the two men, in the … love triangle? The two men of Haven. SR: And when we were discussing whether or not Mara and Duke should do the deed, there was just … a lot of arguments about it. SE: There was a lot of arguments. It was on the board and then it was off the board, and then it was on the board. SR: And then when it finally made it on the board and it was … SE: Did we pitch that? I don’t think it was on the timeline. SR: That’s possible. Because when we got to the end of the episode we were like; it just naturally should just happen. And at that point I was like; I’m so jealous that you get to write that. SE: Yeah, we were like; do you think, we could, possibly … have some sex? Yeah. You might here a lot of giggling here because Shireen and I were known as, what was it Team Trinny? [Trinnie?] SR: Yeah, Team Trinny. Both of us come from Canada and Trinidadian parents, so yeah. SE: But you are the one with the dirty mind. SR: Just me? SE: Yes! SR: um, I think there would be some on the staff who would disagree with you on that. SE: I think the sex actually was your idea initially. And I was like; Oh my precious heart - are you serious? Can’t they just love-kiss? SE: Wait, I think the sex for Dwight was my idea. SR: Oh yeah; you do like your Dwight SR: Dwight has just been celibate for too long. SE: That’s right. And a man who looks like that should be in charge of his body and get to do whatever he wants, whatever makes him comfortable and if that includes taking his shirt off and having a love scene, then hey SR: But we’re on the wrong episode for that one SE: Are we? [much laughing] SE: We should have … talked more before this. I’m sorry Josh.

SE: I’m still trying to remember our initial thing - Oh, I wanted to do something that meant something. So initially the whole thing started off having two young women at the centre. I think. Was it the lesbian thing that came first? Or the … oh we wanted to do a body image Trouble, that’s what it was. SR: Yeah, it started out as a body image Trouble, and then it morphed into, or it all came back to dealing with some form of bigotry. SE: Yeah - [the first signs of the Trouble kick in on screen] omg what? Her hand just fell off! I haven’t see this … Oh my goodness. That was scary. That was the first time I’ve seen that effect. That’s a really gruesome image. Normally that’s one of the last things I think about when pitching a story is how it’s going to open. Because you’ve got to start strong.  But anyway yes, we wanted to do something along the lines of body image and just say something about it. And so it was about bigotry, and then it also ended up being about how people see each other. SR: Yeah, that too. SE: And then we tried to tack on also some weight issues as well. And the young woman who plays Grace; lovely, talented, and just looks like a girl. And that we had to cast her as the young woman with weight issues, just says something else entirely.

SE: I like these two together [Dwight and Vince] SR: I do too. Because when I started out as the Haven fan, I was all about Nathan. But then once Dwight joined the cast, I was just like; Wait, hang on a second. But I’m much happier that Dwight’s becoming involved with Charlotte. Rather than us having a Dwight/Audrey thing; a new component to the triangle. That would have been just too much. SE: Well there’s that thing that Speed wrote. I think it was Speed. In 5.04, where Dwight says something about; there’s already too many people there. That was great.

SR: Oh Gloria. SE: She really sold this. [much laughing at Gloria’s line about Charlotte being so skinny]

SR: I love the casting of the mom. SE: Yeah she was really good. Alisen Down; Canadian treasure. We should point out all the things Canadian. Oh there are the girls outside. You know, you always write these scene where you’re like; through the window we can see… whatever. And I don’t want to say that’s a lazy tactic exactly, but it can be very handy. SR: Yeah. But was it originally in the script as through the window, or were they off in another part of the cafe? SE: Oh yeah they were off in another part of the cafe. This is better. SR: This must have changed on set. It looks really good. SE: It does look good. Well Chester always looks good on screen.

SE: You say you were tickled when Adam Copeland joined the cast but I think you’re a die hard Nathan woman, to the end. SR: Well, that’s true. Oh there’s the line [from Audrey, about the cafe owner being a bigot]. And she sold it too. SE: She did. I like her in this one a lot, I mean I like her in everything, but she’s fun in this one. SR: And this episode in particular I think I liked her more as Mara. The way that Mara’s playing with Duke, is really great. SE: I imagine doing this episode was really difficult for Emily because she’s in two of the major story lines.

[laughing at the washing up liquid by the empty hand cuffs] SE: You know, Matt pitched that and I was like, um, really? Dishsoap? But he was just like; if I see one more person pick a pair of handcuffs with a hair pin, I’m going to want to kill somebody SR: And so there was a funny day in the room where we were pitching what kind of lubricant could be used to get the handcuffs off [much laughing] SE: You see, that’s what I said about the dirty mind, but you make it sound so innocent. And since the word actually fits you could make the case for your mind being not-dirty. When we were on twitter for this episode I remember people loving Mara’s outfit here [as she’s outside with her shopping]; this cute little dress. But this was one of the hardest parts I think, or probably the most challenging part of the script was crafting, and writing and re-writing and getting feedback from everyone in the room and building this Duke/Mara arc, so that what they do at the end feels earned (even though some of you may not think that) and so that it makes sense. Josh, our assistant (who is moving on and is now a staff writer on a show and no longer an assistant) keeps looking at me whenever I make a slight comment that may be perceived as having to do with twitter, and the fact that you guys blame me for Nathan being on screen, and it is not my fault. SR: It’s true, because this episode was - SE: Wait - tell them what is true. SR: OK, what is very true about this episode is that we were trying to get Duke and Mara to a point where Duke was trusting her. And so in order for my episode (the next one) to work, he had to trust her completely. SE: Completely. SR: And one way to demonstrate that, that he trusts someone completely, is that he trusts them enough to open himself up, be vulnerable and go to bed with them. So, yeah Shernold had the very difficult task of writing that … SE: And it was. SR: And I was very jealous that you got to to write it - well I’m always jealous of anyone who gets to write the sex scenes. SE: And then the other thing that we had to do with this episode is bring Audrey and Charlotte together. This is, I think, the first time they meet on screen. And you will know by now, based on the relationship they have, the subtext of this scene is cool and tense and really interesting. SR: Because if you go back to the beginning of this scene, you’ll see the look on Charlotte’s face when she first sees Audrey and it’s just like; woah, I haven’t seen you in … centuries? At this point? SE: Yeah, I guess so. And sometimes, show runners and directors make these decisions, but sometimes they tell the actor and sometimes they don’t. And Laura Mennell [who plays Charlotte] is one of those actors where I think the showrunners, Matt and Gab, told her ultimately who her character would be. But I don’t think they told Emily, and I don’t think they told Lucas or anybody else. Am I right Josh? Josh: I think that’s right. SE: So that’s really cool, because she had this huge secret that she knew that this character would end up being her character’s daughter. But in the same way that the character has no idea that’s her mother, the actor didn’t know either. And the performances are terrific, with one having the information and one not. SR: It play really well on screen. SE: Yeah. And then of course when you know as an audience when you go back, you just see all these little things in there

[As we see the sign with the name of the bakery] SE: The Tart Half. How many times did we have to change that name? SR: What did it start as? Josh; Oh, I came up with something, and we couldn’t use it. I can’t think of it. SE: It was good though SR: Was it Half Baked at one point, or something like that? SE: No, it was another Stephen King reference Josh: Oh, Kneadful Things SE: And there was a Kneadful Things in Maine. Josh: Yeah there was, so we couldn’t use it. SR: That’s so sad. SE: And then some people didn’t get the Tart Half, because I remember some complaints. And I was like; come on - somebody google something.

[As the ambulance pulls up to Terrance’s house] SE: Remember how many different ways this scene changed? It was supposed to be the kids working out on the lawn, and we were going to see the weight drop on him. [As Nathan takes the phone call from Duke] SR: See, the bromance is just so lovely. SE: The bromance is one of the greatest things in the show. I’m sure this made fans of all three in a love triangle freak out, but this I think is the first moment where Duke does not do what Nathan wants in regards to Audrey. When we write these phone scenes I’m always a little bit nervous they’re going to be boring. But this isn’t. SR: Not between these two. (I love that pot-kettle line.) SE: No, not with those eyes. You know his [Nathan’s] eyes are really that colour in real life? SR: Really? SE: Yeah, because he was sitting about this close to me, as you are SR: Oh yeah just rub it in. SE: We did a commentary for 5.17 which was so fun. Do you have any idea how fun Lucas Bryant is to hang out with? But we were talking and I looked over like; Oh my god your eyes are really that colour. That was fun. SR: Yeah, this whole season I’ve been trying really hard to meet Lucas Bryant. Nothing. Shernold comes in this morning telling me how she did a commentary with Lucas and I … well I won’t say what I called her. SE: It’s crazy, it was like snuffleupagus. Do you have that here? Josh; I know what snuffleupagus is. SE: Well you’re practically Canadian. But it’s a Sesame Street thing right? Americans know what that is. OK so Lucas was like snuffleupagus to you, because you would come in and we’d all be like; Oh my god you just missed Lucas. SR: Yep, and then there was the day that Adam came in and I wasn’t here either. SE: Weren’t you at least on the phone then though? SR: No, I found out about it the next time I came in to the office. I was like Seriously? SE: Well that was a complete surprise, we didn’t know he was coming in or we would have told you. Josh; Shireen I don’t know if this is a good time to tell you but I’ve also done a commentary with Lucas Bryant. SR: *disappointed noises* Josh; I was here with him and Adam Higgs and they invited me to join them. That happened. SE; That’s so great. SR: Lucas is going to listen to this commentary and think - SE: Lucas is not going to listen to this commentary. Don’t you worry about it. SR: He’d be like; Oh I’ve got a stalker in LA, great. SE: First of all, get in line. There are many stalkers I’m sure, of Lucas Bryant and his face. Second of all; Lucas is not going to listen to this commentary. So we can say whatever we want.

SR: I remember one of the changes to this was that we originally had it that the mom was going to have an issue with the fact that - SE: Oh yeah! Scripts go through a lot of rewriting and initially I went a bit overboard with the bigotry I think. Just one spoonful too much bigotry, where initially the mom, the owner of the bakery, was supposed to be homophobic as well. And it was our SyFy exec, Erik Storey, who pointed out that things have changed and not only is that becoming less of an issue (with same-sex marriage and everything) but we’ve seen that story before. And I was like; you are absolutely right. And it did make the story much stronger and much more interesting I think. SR: Because it was nice to see that the mom was totally accepting of one thing but completely opposed to the other SE: Yeah. That was good to get to be able to do that.

[As Nathan comes to see Charlotte in the lab] SR: OK how awesome does he look just leaning up against the door frame there? OK I’ll stop now. SE: Well this was fun too because we don’t often get to see Nathan doing a bit of subtefuge SR: That’s true. I love this with the gloves [where Nathan tries to shake Charlotte’s hand] SE: That actually worked out really well, I wasn’t sure - on the page some people thought it would be way too obvious in the look back that Charlotte was avoiding shaking Nathan’s hand because he would be able to feel her, being the mother of Audrey/Mara, and being one of those other ... beings SR: … people, things. Has anybody else mentioned in any of the commentaries how we’ve gone out of our way to not name where … or what …? SE: I think they probably haven’t, and I think there might have been a reason for that. SR: OK. Then I won’t talk about it.

[Charlotte: Yes bleach is an antiseptic but no your brother should not use it to clean his wound] SE: I didn’t think that was going to fly. That line about the bleach. SR: I thought it was hilarious. SE: I though it was going to get cut for sure. I thought that was going to get a big DB aka Do Better on that line. SR: It totally sounds like something Vince and Dave would do.

SE: You know what I think Haven missed? A good carnival episode. SR: Well we did do the fair. SE: No I mean like a *switches accent* carnival SR: Oh! You have to say it in Trinny speak or we won’t know what you’re talking about. SE: But could you imagine Dwight pulling one of those big … SR: We’re talking about Trinidad carnival SE: Yeah. Google that too. It’s amazing. And there are massive costumes that people pull along the parade route and make them dance, because they’re built to have flexibility and movement. And then she’d be in one of those … SR: Skimpy skimpy things SE: Not Emily. But one of those beautiful feathered head dresses, with lots of sparkles.

[As Charlotte is telling Audrey about her cells degenerating] SE: This is something we back and forth on a lot too; the nature of Audrey’s illness. And now to make it seem real but also have it fit within the idea that it could be something to do with her separation from Mara. SR: I think I was talking to my brother at one point, my brother’s a doctor, and asking him what could make a cell just break apart. And he’s like; there’s this thing called apoptosis. So I wrote that down, and it was always open on my ipad to the apoptosis wikipedia page. So we sort of went off of that in a way. SE: Well it’s always good to have real science.

[As Grace is talking about getting bullied via potato chips] SE: Oh hey Josh where did that line come from? Oh no it wasn’t you, it was Adam Higgs! Josh; I had a line … I didn’t really say anything the first couple of weeks on the job and then I thought, I think I might have something here. Which didn’t end up making it in, but it was there for a little while where they were talking to Dwight about; Even when you’re really bulked up can you still feel like it’s not enough? And he says; All the time. SE: Oh yeah, that was a really beautiful moment. I liked this part of Grace’s character too, which was also atypical in that she wasn’t broken down by the bullies, which was neat. But yeah we wanted to do this whole sequence with Terrance who was bulking up because he was being bullied at school, and he was really buff. And it was going to be this nice moment between … back then it was going to be Dwight and Audrey investigating it. So there was going to be this really nice moment between Dwight and Audrey, as Josh said, where she was like; Well you’re a pretty buff guy do you sometimes feel like you could still be hurt? That’s kind of a whole other story though.

SR: You know it’s funny when I was reading the script and the guy in the hospital bed was talking about ‘she looked at me, it looked like she was looking through me’ and I always envisioned that when we saw her looking at her mom there were going to be these weird soulless eyes, or that we were going to do visual effects or something. SE: Oh that never occurred to me. That’s kind of cool. SR: But I think this works better, because it’s not weird and creepy. It’s just; this is who I am mom, and you don’t love me.

[As we see Duke letting out a Trouble] SR: Remember the debates that we would have in the writers room about how his Trouble was going to work here? SE: Yeah we had, what, three different versions? And that’s why I got quiet for a moment there because I haven’t seen how this manifested. It’s really neat; look at that. Originally this Trouble was supposed to be a World War II under fire kind of thing, you know the room would be shaking and you’d hear shelling outside and the ceiling would be caving in. And then someone pointed out; well then when they went outside wouldn’t everything just be destroyed. SR: But this was the big crucial scene to bring them together. And it was the hardest scene. SE: It was the hardest scene. A lot of re-writes on this one. SR: But you nailed it. I think this works really, really well, because at the end, he has to admit. The Trouble forces him to admit that he trusts her. SE: Oh that’s neat, look at that! [being impressed at the effects]

SR: I think one of things I liked about Charlotte’s character is that we moulded her to be a scientists and to figure out that there is a scientific component to the Troubles. SE: Yeah! I was sorry that we couldn’t take that further. SR: I like it when the supernatural is grounded in some kind of science. SE: It’s neat. But then we don’t want to take it too far into the scientific because... SR: Then you lose the fantasy of it SE: But then also, you know, 200 years ago what we do with modern medicine would have seemed like magic. SR: Yeah completely.

[At Mara and Duke’s first kiss] SE: Oh look at that! Literally steamy! They did well there. SR: See how quiet we got. That scene was just … SE: Yeah but we’re supposed to be not quiet. I think when we leave here Josh will be forced to tell everybody that this is the silliest commentary he has ever had to sit through. Josh; And you should know everybody, that we are here on a Sunday, because this is how much we love all of you [A moment of quiet] SE: Oh gosh Shireen we have to stop just watching. Josh; Well I remember, if I can butt in here SE and SR in unison: Please do Josh; I remember it was a really great thing when we figured out that Audrey would get worse by solving this Trouble. But she didn’t care because that’s the kind of character she was SR: Yes, selfless Josh: And also the idea that because it’s based on how you feel about yourself, she felt that she was strong and therefore she became strong SE: Oh Josh that’s a great thing to remember. There’s a lot of girl power I think in this episode. SR: And then the nice thing too you see that Charlotte isn’t just being concerned as a doctor, she’s also like; I don’t want my daughter to get sick again. I don’t want my, potentially my daughter, to die. SE: And also I think between these two characters it’s the first time that Charlotte sees that, this isn’t Mara. SR: Oh yeah that’s true! I’d forgotten that.

Hello, I was wondering if you were comfortable with sharing a bit more information about your three Illyrian OCs? I of course mean Mara, Dina and Varsha. I really want to draw them, if it's alright!

OMG IM SO SORRY YOU MUSTVE WAITED FOREVER??? Ive taken a break from writing for the past couple of years. Maybe spontaneously writing every now and then.

I’m not sure if you have seen the drawing i made of them. (The very bad one). But I had invisioned them as that drawing. I may not continue this series to be honest...

To go in more depth:

DINA: she is the shortest of the trio (like 5”4) and youngest. She has Asian heritage, and is a child out of wedlock. Lord Ardal had an affair with someone from Velaris who was of Asian descent. She does have almond, slanted eyes that show her Asian traits and her hair is like PITCH black. She is depicted as the deceiver because she had hidden her gender while in the camps. She likes her hair short. and to be honest, I kind of see her with an undercut. Dina was actually supposed to be paired up with Mor, as Dina had fallen in love with her some time after she was rescued by her. Dina has really tan skin, taking after the Illyrian side.

Varsha: I wanted Varsha to be of Indian descent. Of the trio, she is the calmest and also the wealthiest. She came from a well-off family. She is the mediator. She’s not the best fighter, but she’s really determined. Her hair is very long and a dark brown. Her skin I would say is the tannest, and she likes to have gold jewelry on her. Like, a nose piercing, piercing on her ears, and even a gold one.

I think I wanted her to be paired up with Azriel at one point, but had decided to have her meet her mate... like i think they had some sort of chemistry but it didn’t work out. I’m still thinking over it... It depends..

Mara: Mara!! She’s the most skilled and oldest of the trio. She is the tallest. Her hair is like a deep red, and very weird for an Illyrian. Her eyes are like pitch black, and it actually scared a lot of the Illyrians. She is the most intimidating and is like a mother tbh. Her and Dina don’t get along well (ahah like mother and daughter) and they fight but it is always for the better of Dina because Dina is very inexperienced and young. Mara tends to be very apathetic too... like she thinks more logical and less emotionally.

Mara was my first choice to pair up with Azriel. Idk why... Mara had never really met Azriel (they always tended to miss each other) in the 200 years she’s lived... Like they never really met until after the war.

wedge and tycho along with wes and hobbie have all been friends since like forever. they start hanging out with luke and biggs and wedge eventually drifts apart to hang out more with "mirax's friends" who are really corran's friends aka the main group (but mostly corran, gavin, mirax, and iella are the ones wedge hangs out with from there. plus pash and asyr in engineering.) damn i could make a CHART to map all these relationships in this au. should i

2/ wes and hobbie are ALWAYS getting in trouble but hobbie can usually get himself out of the trouble by being like “um, i was in a car accident last year, here do you want to see my leg” and goes as if he is going to take off his prosthetic leg but the teachers just let him go. wes however has all his original limbs so he cannot do this and he is BITTER

3/ last night i was thinking about how mara jade should be in this au and came to the conclusion that MARA JADE SHOULD BE IN THIS AU!!!! i don’t particularly care about her and luke so idk if they’re a thing but like. they can be but they don’t *have* to be. anyways what i’m focusing on with mara is her and corran being friends!!!!! because they’re friends and i love that so THEY ARE FRIENDS HERE TOO. and mara and mirax are also best friends (woefully unexplored in legends) because HECK YEAH

4/ in this au talon karrde is mara’s dad because he is definitely mara’s dad. their family is friends with the terriks (which IS something that legends did well; karrde keeps giving presents to the horn kids) and mara and mirax were childhood bffs that stayed bffs

5/ omg what if mara joins corran and ooryl’s book club

6/ oh and biggs and hobbie are dating in the au because in the darklighter comic they were totally dating

I regret that I wasn't more active in here besides occasional lurking, but I always think back fondly to the CTP chat that my comic was discussed in, it was the first time I ever got to see so much in depth feedback and analysis on my comic and I will forever appreciate this server Four Corners is set in 1995, Yokohama, as the story follows Kazuhiro Tsuchiya who now leads his deceased brother's legendary gang, the Four Corners. Kazuhiro is approached by Hideki Yuhara, a schoolmate who claims to have vital information that Kazuhiro should be wary of. The two unlikely delinquents pair up to figure out the reason as to why gangs in the city are being brutally eliminated...though the unraveling of the mystery is darker than it appears. How far will Kazuhiro and Hideki go to rest their case? I haven't done much work or anything in general these past months because they've been utter shit for me. This year had stuff breaking in my home, my grandma died from covid, family issues, found out my 9yo dog has lymphoma (blood cancer) and I got to a break point and I'm trying to recover from all the shit. So I just thought of something, and maybe it’s just hopeful and wishful thinking, but what if the main point of the “love triangle,” was to make Alex move forward with his feelings for Michael?

When he realized Michael had hooked up with Maria, I think he realized that he could really lose Michael. Maybe not to Maria, but to someone, someday. I think that rocked his world. Maria picked up he was hopeful. Now I wondered about this for a long time. He found out Michael wants to leave the planet and he has the piece for that departure. Was that what he was hopeful for? No. That devastated him. What I think he is hopeful for, is that he realized he doesn’t want to lose Michael. He meant it when he said he was tired of walking away, but he made a choice in that moment sitting at that bar—he would never walk away again. And I think he wants Maria to know as well, he’s in this for the long haul. That’s why he says “okay,” when she said it meant nothing. He didn’t say, “it’s okay, you two should try it out. I’ve been over Guerin for a long time.” He didn’t say that, because he’s anything but over Michael.

Ever since he found out the two slept together, he walked back (something to fight for), said he loved Guerin (I know past tense but please come on), wanted to start over, start a foundation of friendship, and know EVERYTHING about Michael. See... he didn’t go to the trailer that day to confess and express all of these things. He went to confront Michael about the alien stuff. But when seeing her necklace and putting 2+2 together, he realized “omg, I’m going to lose Michael—and I can’t. I want him.”

It made him grow in those moments more than we’ve seen all season. Yes, he walked out of the bunker when he found out Michael wants to leave, but it wasn’t really walking away, it was thinking, “omg, I don’t think Michael wants me to fight for him anymore. He wants to leave and never come back.” That really broke his heart. When he went to the car, he was all but gasping for air. The guy couldn’t even process once again what it would truly be like to lose Michael.

So the stupid love triangle plus losing Michael to space, really pushed him forward with his feelings.

Then we have episode 12. This is the biggest one for Alex so far. He goes to Michael wanting him to come with him, not just to find answers, but because if there are aliens there, he knows Michael would want to meet them. We also see a flirty and smiley Alex. He just seems more at ease in this episode in the beginning. Why? Because he’s accepting what he feels for Michael and wants to be with him. He wants to have an open relationship; no more pulling back and away. When they go to Caulfield, he doesn’t want Michael thinking there’s anything going on with Kyle. Just saying he’s putting past behind him—that past. Almost saying, “he knows about us, who I am, who I love, and I don’t care.” He wants people to know he loves Michael, and doesn’t want to hide it. This is huge growth we’ve seen comparing how he acted when Isobel drove up in episode 3. He then asks Michael if he wants to go in there for sure, because I do think Alex knows it might not be good—especially when Michael heard screaming. Michael just looks at him, and walks in.

When they’re in there, and someone’s coming in, Alex is selfless and stays behind wanting to protect the other two men. Of course Michael doesn’t want to leave Alex behind, but Alex yells go not wanting Michael to get captured. Remember, they have seen Michael’s face before. They know he’s a “threat.” That’s the most important thing to Alex during this whole mission—to keep Michael safe. Which ends up being the common theme between the two in the episode.

When Michael is down in the 7A block and meets the aliens, Alex wants to get away from his brother to check on Michael, but Flint won’t let him. Maybe another reason he brought Kyle along, to make sure Michael would have double protection. When Kyle comes back, Alex almost seems surprised like why in the hell would you leave Michael. But when the alarm goes off, I love that Kyle just immediately tells Alex where Michael is. He doesn’t say, “come on Manes, we gotta go!” He knows Alex won’t leave Michael behind. And Alex doesn’t deny those feelings. He just goes!!

Now the big scene. Again, his main mission is to get Michael the hell out of here. He was the one that brought the man he loves into this hell hole. But then he sees the pain on Michael’s face and he becomes desperate not to get out of there, but to let Michael know he’s never alone, and he does have a family: ALEX. That’s how it’s always been... they are family, each other’s home and hope. The other main theme of season between Malex. And when Michael’s says “what, no! You gotta go, Alex,” It hurts Alex, but he knows he won’t leave Michael. In that moment he knows more than ever he’ll never leave him again. He already knew that from that moment at the trailer. In the bar. All these big moments. But this is the ultimate moment of not walking away. He will not lose Michael anymore. Not on his watch. They’ve already wasted so much time, and here it could end in a matter of moments. And if he’s going to die, he wants to die with the love of his life. So he says the words to let Michael know all of these feelings, “I don’t look away, Guerin.” Michael knows exactly what that means. It’s a declaration of love, because he said the words himself, “I never look away.” Michael sees a change in Alex, and that he is going to die with Michael. But being protective of each other, Michael cannot let that happen. So he says the unspeakable even though you can clearly see it KILLS HIM to even tell those lies to Alex.

And while it pains Alex so much, he knows that Michael doesn’t mean them. Because Alex has been miserable for 10 years without Michael, and the way Michael has fought for all these months to be with Alex again, he knows Michael feels the same. They’re both miserable and utterly / completely in love with each other. So he calls him out, fighting for their love once more saying, “you’re a miserable liar.” This comment shakes Michael to his core. He’s run out of steam. Alex will not leave. No matter what he says or does. But he can’t leave his people behind. Not after years of torture; not when he’s just found them. So no... He’s not fighting this anymore. They’re going to die, and ya know what, he wants Alex by his side. He misses him everyday, and being with him and his own kind, and mother... this... even in this hellhole, is the home he’s been always wanting. The hope. He’s at peace, they both are. It’s insane the shift of it all. I wonder if Mara hadn’t of gotten Michael’s attention, what Michael would’ve done?? Because I think he would’ve embraced Alex right there and just would’ve held him till it was the end.

But then the most beautiful moment of the whole episode, in my opinion, happens... his mother does get his attention. Because guess what she sees? Her son IS loved, and he loves in return. They’re soulmates. She sees that not all humans are evil and soulless (ironic when you think of who Alex’s father is). She sees a home, hope, and love when she looks at Malex. She’s ready to say hello and goodbye. So she pulls her son to her and shows her love to him and approval, also, she wants him to fight to live. And to be with this human male fighting for her son. Because in the end, LOVE is the most important point of living.

Michael then turns to the person he loves most in this world and for the first time EVER, he’s 100% completely vulnerable. Remember, Michael is the guy that doesn’t like to look weak, show his vulnerable side. He puts on that facade of cowboy swagger. Not now. No more. Because Alex isn’t a glitch in his system; he’s the heart of Michael’s system. And maybe he fought for so long—that “weakness” he thought that “screws him up,” but now he needs Alex’s strength. The strength their love has always given him, from the moment he met Alex. And Alex doesn’t falter. He’s not freaking out they have 1 minute left before the prison blows. He’s also at peace. And he comforts the love of his life. Letting him know it’s okay to feel what you feel. He’s Michael’s anchor. He keeps Michael grounded, especially now, especially when he’s fighting for their love. Which he’s doing. He only moves out, when Michael moves. Still holding on to Michael.

When they’re outside the prison and it blows, Alex can see and feel the devastation Michael feels. It almost knocks him over—the pain of it all. He’s so heartbroken for his other half. But he knows Michael and knows he needs space and time to process this. Maybe that’s what he’ll want for weeks, months and years to come. But he’ll keep letting Michael know this: I AM NOT GOING ANYWHERE. I AM HERE FOR YOU ALWAYS AND FOREVER. And you know what? Michael might need that affirmation over and over again to believe it. But Alex will deliver.

So even in the finale, and with all these interviews saying Michael needs fresh air, he might look at Alex and see the legacy that took his family away, Alex will still be there. Because it’s Alex’s turn to fight. And maybe that was the whole point of this ridiculous love triangle. Maybe this love triangle wasn’t meant for Michael—it was meant for Alex. For him to really come to terms with how he feels for Michael and if he’s willing to lose him for good. If Michael pulls away, I don’t think it’ll be to jump in another relationship with someone else. He is broken. More broken then he’s ever been in his life. He needs time. Alex will know and understand this. He doesn’t have anything left to give. He’ll probably want to be away from everyone. If he does start to lean towards Maria, it’s because he knows he’s broken at the moment. He cannot give himself to Alex in the way Alex deserves. And yes, he respects Maria and cares for her, but not the way he loves Alex. There’s no question. He just cannot be that guy for Alex, RIGHT NOW. He now has even more trauma to his bucket and demons he needs to deal with first. Because he doesn’t want to look at Alex and see Jesse Manes. Because he knows, KNOWS, that Alex is anything but a Manes’ Man. He’s everything he truly needs. Alex has given him everything; but he can’t give back right now. He just can’t. This has nothing to do with loving someone more and Alex less (like I was afraid of), it’s actually saying he loves Alex more than anyone and it’s not fair to him right now. He can’t be that guy to Alex—not at this time. He needs to heal so he can really feel what he feels and not what his mind is saying—this family murdered your kind.

So in the beginning Michael fought for them, hard, but now the tables have turned slightly, and while that’s painful—it’s beautiful to see Alex ready to fight for love, to be free (Awe sweet Tyler). He’s ready to go all in. No holding back. But now Michael needs time, and I do think Alex will support that. I wish he wouldn’t give his blessing for his best friend and love of life to date... but if that’s what Michael needs, I think he would do it. Hurtful as it may be. I don’t even think they’ll go there with M/M this season though. Not after what Michael just went through. It’ll be uncertain, but nothing final (I hope). But Alex is in this for the long haul and believes they’re soulmates.

Now all this being said, I do have a lot of speculations on what I think is going to happen in finale between Michael, Alex and Jesse. And it’s going to be a huge moment forward for Michael just like this “love triangle” was a movement forward for Alex. And it could actually change a lot for Michael and his current headspace. It would be more in Malex’s favor. But I may save that for another post. Already too long.

In the end, it’s been a beautiful journey for these characters, and heartbreaking. But from Alex’s POV, I’m so grateful he has been able to heal a lot and grow—especially with who he is and who he loves. It definitely took his character from the dark to light. Now we just need to meet that beagle of his!

I feel at peace thinking about Malex now. No longer scared about love triangles and interviews. Because at the end of the day, true love wins, and Michael and Alex are true love. They are each other’s home, hope and family. That has been the theme all season, and their story going forward. No other will compare to the cosmic story they have. THEY ARE THE DEFINITION OF LOVE. And I’m grateful to have been on this journey with them.

Are we in Bizarro Land?

@jenny-calendar has already keyboard flailed about the progress of Jenny and Giles in the Boom!verse (and I definitely have thoughts of my own) but this issue is so good about picking up from the quiet introspectiveness of issue 7, as if Jordie thought, ‘Okay, I’ve let Willow breathe and Xander come to terms with his new existence...now shit’s really getting real’ and we’re back into action.

A feature of the Boom!verse has been the feeling that each issue has a mini cliffhanger - not necessarily, OMG what happens next?!? in feeling all the time, but ‘why did you end it THERE?’

It happened for me in the Chosen one-shot - I would have liked to have spent more time with the individual slayers (possibly giving each one her own issue instead of sharing?) but the glimpse I got of each life was intriguing.

With issue 8 of the Boom!verse, we’ve definitely hit upon OMG what happens next territory.

And one of the elephants in the fandom - the Buffy/Angel relationship gets introduced in this issue.

There’s a lot of other plot points about issue 8 that I’m going to address in separate posts, but I want to comment on the B/A dynamic as it is in the Boom! verse. OG canon will be referenced but for the most part I want to focus on what Jordie and Bryan have decided to do with them and how that impacts their relationship in 2019.

Did I go down a google deep dive to ascertain if Bats do in fact have tails? Yes. Yes I did. And they do, but it’s not quite to the extent that Handmade Costume Buffy takes it to -- her costume looks more like a cartoon version of a Bat, with the little forked end. There are 1000 species of bats, however, with the majority of them having some sort of tail, both obvious and not so obvious. And there’s a bumblebee bat that does not have a tail. I highly recommend that you google it because it’s goddamn adorable.

Despite his many years existing, I don’t think Angel really was cataloging all 1,000 species of bats and just went with the common perception that bats are tail-less. The bat motif has been repeated over with them in canon, however - there’s Camazotz, Buffy’s pegasus bat (who’s returning for HELLMOUTH), the endless Batman comparisons Angel has (TV and Bryan comparing him to Bruce Wayne) and of course vampire bats (Dracula and his party trick). Buffy dressing up as a bat is pretty on the nose for this ‘verse.

And I like that it’s obviously homemade - Joyce (or Eric! Doctor after all) probably helped her stitch on ears and a tail to a black hoodie and black shorts, and she just needed fishnets to complete the look - cozy with a slight detour into Women’s Halloween Costumes Must Be Sexy All The Time Now, Especially if It Is Not Sexy Before. Buffy wasn’t going to spend Tuna Palace money on wearing a costume for an event that she was forced to unofficially chaperone, hence the surliness/over it attitude with Halloween. We still have no idea what fifteen-year-old Slayer Buffy was like and if her Halloween in Los Angeles was eventful or it’s a Los Angeles vs “small town” approach to Halloween.

Or if it’s Buffy just being annoyed that once again, she really can’t participate in an ordinary teenage ritual, she has to watch over it to make sure everyone’s safe. The visual of Buffy on the fringes of the party, observing, not participating is something that really resonated with me, as a fan of the TV canon and just being a withdrawn person in RL. 

Buffy’s had a setback - her friends have gotten hurt helping her slaying, her crush has fizzled out before it could properly begin (and Robin dancing with a look-alike didn’t help) and as Giles likes to remind her, evil is always in the background. Her doing normal stuff - group date with her friends is directly before Xander gets turned by Spike and Drusilla, and then she witnesses Willow giving up a part of her soul for Xander, and being defensive when Willow tells her she hardly knows herself - Buffy is both a part of their group but separate. The argument the two get into in front of the demon - that Buffy tells Willow she’s pretending, and Willow tossing back that Buffy is a master of pretending and lying (Slayer, secret identity after all) and the demon sneering at Buffy’s overinflated sense of worth - just because she’s the Slayer doesn’t automatically give her soul more weight. Xander and Willow’s bond excludes her because they’ve known each other forever and she is the new girl. The outsider.

We’ve been given more insight to Willow and Xander, but just peeks at Buffy’s mindset - and with all that’s happened, I don’t blame her for being resentful or less sunshine-y than her season 1 TV counterpart. But Boom! Buffy as always, is her own person.

It’s this person Angel is trying to figure out. Over in his world, Buffy/The Slayer is nothing but a flashing danger sign - a shadowy figure that he first mistakes for Mara/Marius - a source of regret/love from his Angelus past. Mara was chosen by Angelus because she was a renowned fighter, and he makes/renames her in his image - possibly referencing the Roman god of War as well. But all the omniscient demons in his life insist that this girl is a danger to him and that love will bring him nothing but pain and she is the instrument of that pain.

Moth, meet flame.

Boom! Angel is not burdened with destiny in the shape of a girl, he doesn’t know anything about the Slayer or what role she’s going to play in his life, only that she’s going to impact it - most likely in a negative way.

So what does he do?

Treat it like a war campaign - do the recon, know your opponent’s weaknesses.

Which brings the comedy, because the Slayer he’s been warned off so many times isn’t the feared creature of vampire myth and legend, but a resentful tired girl in a bat costume who does not appreciate the tall dark ‘looks like a serial killer’ man in a devil mask sitting right next to her. She wants to be left alone.

In any other typical story, there would be that element of fear with a stranger, but because Buffy’s the Slayer, she knows she can defend herself and put the hurt on this guy.

Meanwhile, it’s Angel’s turn to observe. And 2019 Angel’s social skills have ...not improved. There is a slight symmetry to their meeting - Buffy watching a world she’s not quite a part of, and Angel watching her and not sure how she fits into his world, both outsiders looking at something they’re not sure they want but still are fascinated by.

Angel’s initial attempt to get closer to Buffy (literal sitting down next to her, then being a troll and moving up one stair) is the personal approach - he notices that she’s bothered by Robin dancing with another girl and then quickly enters Uncomfortable Job Interview Questions territory - 'tell me about yourself - where would you be if you weren’t here? What if you had more time for you?’

These are not mortal enemy questions, obviously. Angel is trying to decipher Buffy as a person and subtly mirroring her body language.

In a callback to Willow’s accusation that Buffy doesn’t really know herself - she admits she doesn’t know what she would be doing if she didn’t have to be there - she said to Xander that she’d rather be home studying...but come on. That’s not what she really wants to be doing.

To defuse the suddenly personal conversation, Angel makes the observation that the reason no one can tell she’s a bat is that she has a tail - and Buffy is so wrapped up in her situation that she doesn’t clue in on the fact that Angel has used Xander’s words almost exactly. She repeats that she hates Halloween while flaming with embarrassment that she’s appeared both vulnerable and not bright in front of a stranger.

This whole exchange - about who Buffy is and what she presents to the world - no one knows if she’s a cat or a dog - I’m a bat fits neatly with her identity crisis as a Slayer and as a teenager still figuring stuff out. 

Similarities to TV canon - Angel knows more about Buffy than she knows about him, and he’s intrigued by her, and she’s...annoyed by him.

The update to their histories is what makes me intrigued about the potential of their romance/relationship - it’s definitely happening with all the hints that have been dropped, anvil-like from the sky - but Buffy is not Angel’s route to redemption or desire to be useful for the fight for Good. He was already going down that path/doing that before he meets her. Angel is not a romantic figure for Buffy, she doesn’t know what he looks like, only that he’s really chatty (!) and vaguely has motivational speaker vibes. He’s not a canvas for her to project ideal fantasies on, just yet.

They’re both damaged, unsociable in their own ways people - but a connection has been made. Where Jordie and Bryan (and Jordan Lambert for HELLMOUTH) go with it, is the exciting part. The ending we know is inevitable, plus it’s the first year of their series, and creators rarely get OTPs together and stay together that quickly, but because Boom! has them both under their umbrella, crossovers will happen more easily and the mythology will be tighter instead of the same tiresome ‘one is more darker and adult than the other blah blah blah shut up dude creators as if that’s the only worthy characteristic of a story’ box.

So, I’m excited about the journey, and as you can see in my chat bubbles above - any Hades/Persephone parallels.
