If you're still here in 2023, YandereDev groomed another girl. And this time he has manipulated her into retracting the story and defending him. He's been in contact with her since she was 9 and now she's a mod in his Discord server. Anyone who tries to DM her asking about the situation gets banned. The Osana subreddit has info and so does Decepticommie on TikTok. Many volunteers and VAs quit the project as well, including the voices of Ayano and Senpai.
For a long time, I had strongly felt that I'd said everything I needed to say on the subject, and so I set this blog aside and focused on other matters in my life. But a friend abreast of the situation recently updated me on these latest happenings and I had to chime in again. It frustrated me to no end that I couldn't substantiate my side of the story with any definitive proof - and now the truth is plain for everyone with functioning eyes to see, at the cost of yet another minor being victimized. Who's to say how many people he's preyed on between then and now...I see comments all the time from people claiming to have had less-than-savory encounters with him or worse, and I'm sure there are many more who either don't think anything of it or are enjoying the attention who will only later realize how it's affected them. It took me years to really understand why my interactions with Eva were a big deal at the time, and making my voice heard in order to try to prevent as many people from falling victim to him as possible became the only correct course of action for me.
Without substantiative evidence, my voice only reached so far. But, finally, thanks to this girl coming forward, people are abandoning his project and leaving him to dry. Like he deserves. It's a small justice; really he should be in prison. But if some good can come out of this, if we can prevent more abuse from happening in the future, then we can breathe some small sigh of relief that things are moving in the right direction at last.
"Jane," as everyone is referring to you out of respect not to use your real name - if you see this, please reach out to me. I didn't want to breach your trust and privacy by tracking down your contact info, but I would very much like to talk to you and to hear your side of the story. Where you are right now, things are too close and too chaotic for you to have much clarity in this situation about what to do, I know. It's a lot. But I would love to help support you any way I can as someone who knows exactly what you're going through.

Skip to Loafer Relationships (and my perspective)
The confirmed, implied, or hinted
Mitsumi and Shima: Obviously
Mika and Mukai: I actually find this ship kinda intriguing simply because they aren't the stereotypical personality types that get paired together. The deprecative, insecure girl x the guy who isn't afraid to speak his mind.
Yamada and Tomoe: Tomoe is so freaking cute. Although I find Yamada a bit annoying, I really hope that his relationship with her develops him into a better person (not that he's a bad person per-se, but I feel like he needs to really learn what it means to be in a relationship and to genuinely LOVE someone instead of pursuing them for their looks.
Nao and her boyfriend: I don't remember the BF's name but I think they have a very wholesome relationship. And I think Takamatsu does a great job writing a down-to-earth, not overtly dramatized relationship for a trans character. I may have said this before in a previous post, but I have found it incredibly rare to find a respectful portrayal of a trans character in Japanese media, so StL is a treat.
Makoto and Senpai: who is this "Senpai" you ask? *Shrugs* I don't know either! Could it be the senpai from her first date with that dude back in Chapter 26? Possibly? Or is there someone new? That's also a chance. Honestly, either way, I hope it's a good person!
Characters I'm interested in:
Yuzuki: Obviously, she's the odd one out of the group. Out of the main cast, she's the only one who is strictly and overtly single. She seems to reject every guy who proposes to her, but I'm not sure if this is out of distrust built in her middle school years, or simply she just isn't interested. I honestly can't tell if she likes boys and just doesn't trust them, if she likes girls, or if she's asexual/aromatic.
Kanechika: I like this guy. He really reminds me of a lot of theater type people I met during my university days. I'll say this upfront. The first impression I got from him is he's gay. His flamboyant personality and colorful dressage does little to persuade me otherwise, LOL.
I'm sure there's more examples, but I'm just going over the few that I explicitly remember. I love reading the manga, and I wish it updated more than once a month 😭 but sometimes the wait is worth it.

if you don't mind me asking, who are your favorite romantic relationship's couples in books/ manga/ anime/movies/tv series (can be canon or non-canon)? Why you love them? Sorry if you've answered this question before......Thanks....
When I'm hyperfixating on a special interest, I find it really hard to remember anything that previously held my attention lol — so I'm struggling to answer this question, anon! I'm not a huge shipper usually, and I'm incredibly unenthusiastic about ship wars so I generally don't get involved.
That said, there are tons of ships I like in Jujutsu Kaisen. SatoSugu and Megumi are pretty much all I post about on here, but I've gained a few followers recently so it's probably worth saying because I've seen a lot of ship discourse elsewhere in the fandom recently:
If you're reading this and you really hate any of the ships I mention in this post, feel free to unfollow if it's that big a deal to you.
I'm really not interested in arguing about ships — because it just isn't that deep, I have limited free time to give to fandom and I'd rather spend it on things I love — so please don't get into that with me. However, if it's not a big deal to you, great to have you around! ♥
So, Jujutsu Kaisen ships I like below the cut:
Obviously, SatoSugu* has really captured my imagination. I don't think I've ever shipped anything as hard as I ship those two, but I talk about them all the time so I won't go into any more detail.
Other than that, I like GojoHime which I know is blasphemy for a SatoSugu shipper (I'm kidding, there's a bunch of us who ship both) but I don't think one has to preclude the other (after all, Gojo has two hands 👀). I've written two canonverse fics for GojoHime, and I've gently implied a former romantic relationship between SatoSugu in both.
I think lots of people read too deeply into the "she hates him" thing. Is he a bit of a dick to her? Absolutely, but treating Utahime like she's just a victim of the terrible Gojo Satoru takes away from her character — because she gives as good as she gets! I adore the contradiction in how she presents herself as this prim and proper miko, but she's actually a little firecracker who loses her temper easily and throws things at people and drinks heavily. Don't take that away from her, it's what makes her fun!
To me, it's obvious that their dynamic is designed to provide comic relief, but they trust each other when it comes down to it. In fact, I'd argue their bickering is evidence of that — if you're a polite person, you don't bicker with people you're not comfortable with. More than that, I like how Utahime is set up as a bit of a foil to Gojo. It's been said before, but there's a poetry in her technique making the 'strongest' stronger, especially considering that he goes to this character he's historically called weak to ask for help in the biggest fight of his life. Delicious!
Beyond that, I casually enjoy a bunch of other JJK ships. I don't actively seek out or create content for them, but I enjoy some of the art and fic when I come across it. Namely:
SaShiSu, in any configuration. SatoShoko is appealing to me for reasons I touched on in response to a question about Gojo's relationship with Shoko. SuguShoko is hot, simply because I think both characters are hot and they look hot together lol. I can even get behind poly SaShiSu!
OkkoFushi, because of Megumi's ~one line~ about respecting his senpai. It's essentially a crack ship, but I have the silliest little headcanon that Gojo brought Megumi to meet the first years sometime during JJK 0 and Megumi developed his first crush — see this adorable art for reference.
ItaFushi, ItaJun, and YutaMaki because they're all harmless and adorable.
GojoKen, because I love the potential for toxic angst.
KenTen, because "goodbye, old friend" — I'm sorry, what??? 👀
ShokoHime and ChosoYuki because they're all sexy as hell.
NobaMai, because they have sizzling chemistry.
KiraKari and MechaMiwa, because they're both canon as far as I'm concerned.
ShiuToji, because they're "business partners" — sure, guys!!
NanaGo, purely for the cute single dads art.
SukuGo, but only in a non-canon setting. They should have been besties in canon though 😔
Finally, the controversial one. Sukuna can stay the hell away from Megumi in canon (🥲) but I quite like SukuFushi in a specific AU setting — especially if Yuji and Sukuna are brothers in it! I have a soft spot for the Itadori twins, and I'm into the idea of big bully Sukuna meeting his match in his brat of a brother's quiet best friend with the deceptively sharp tongue (and knuckles).
However, I personally find that a lot of people mischaracterise Megumi in his ships and take away the aspects of his character that I really love (come on, he beat people the hell up at school!) so I'm not super into Megumi ships in general, despite the fact that he's my best boy.
As you can see, I'm really not that fussy about ships. In the past, I've definitely read fic featuring a side pairing that I'm not super into, but it won't stop me reading a good fic if there's a pairing I don't like in it. Sometimes, if it's well-written, I might even end up a fan!
Outside of JJK, there really isn't much. I don't follow many other animanga, but I think AkiAngel is a gorgeous ship and EreMika is cute although a bit bland. I think that's it though... Sorry this wasn't really what you asked for, but thank you for the question! ♥
*I just use the popular ship name, but I don't have any strong preferences when it comes to sexual dynamics so the name order isn't important to me — that goes for all the ships I like!

Diego and Misogyny
Every time I see a cool manly character, I start testing him for sexism. And it was the same with Diego.
Maybe he thinks women are weaker than men?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
A lawyer must be strong. Both man and woman.
Maybe he thinks women are dumber than men?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
No, he believe in Mia even though she is a newbie.
But he calls women cute nicknames!
Tumblr media
No, he calls men that too Nicknames are just markers and they really should lead to an alert and make you look for sexism. But don't get caught in the Association fallacy. If sexism is not found, relax. If you find evidence that a character treats both genders equally, relax. Mia is full-fledged employee who can decide for herself whether Diego's familiarity is acceptable to her. If she feels humiliated because of this, Diego will stop because he likes Mia.
The image of Diego is partially based on the image of gentleman. And often problem with this image is that gentlemen do not believe that women are capable of evil. They perceive women as children, and they shift the responsibility for their actions to the surrounding men. Does Diego do it?
Tumblr media
No. He believes in the subjectivity (agency) of a cute little girl. Even when she is 14.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I guess criminal responsibility comes in this age in Japanifornia. We know that Dahlia is demon. She persuaded her father to get rid of Iris in order not to share the money. She robbed her family. And then she killed her big sister. She is incapable of creating an emotional connection. But Diego and Mia don't know about it. I wish they didn't blame the child just because their intuition, but ok. Diego is very protective. Such men often find it humiliating when a woman defends them. Maybe Diego finds it humiliating that Mia is protecting him?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Maybe he finds it humiliating for Phoenix that his teacher is a woman?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Oh, no-no. He considers him unworthy
Tumblr media
But Diego! You only saw her first trial. (and read all the rest I guess) Maybe he doesn't trust women on the battlefield?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Maybe he doesn't think a woman can make decisions about herself?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Maybe Diego doesn't like it when a woman takes all the attention to herself?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It's funny. Dahlia went to hell without even knowing who killed her. Because she is Mia's enemy. Not Diego's. Diego didn't even say hello to her before the murder. And he even never intervened in their conversation with Mia.
Tumblr media
Makes me wonder how sincere Diego is when he talks about a revenge. Diego said he didn't know what he felt: the desire to protect Maya or the thirst for revenge. But I'm pretty sure the second emotion was not anger, but fear. By the way. There are no phrases in the game that would imply that Diego is ashamed to be a victim of woman.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But he's ashamed of his carelessness. He knows Dahlia is a dangerous killer, but...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
People also accuse him of toxic masculinity. Okay, let's compare. Toxic Masculinity: "Boys Don't Cry" Diego:
Tumblr media
Boys and girls.
Tumblr media
Since when do we call the principle "you can cry, but later" toxic masculinity?
Toxic masculinity often hurts those around you. Maybe Diego started to despise Mia when she started crying?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
He has an empathy for crying men too. He's an attorney after all
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Diego considers it his duty to protect Mia. So what? Diego is her senpai. Diego demands from Phoenix to protect Mia not because of he's male, but because he projects survivor's guilt onto him. Not everything in the world is explained by the fact that a man has become a victim of patriarchy. Sometimes people just feel responsible because they are good people.
Tumblr media
Mia felt guilty about her client. I'm sure about Diego too. It's was her case after all. She didn't ask Phoenix to help with White. And she saves him at every trial. If she were a man, would you accuse her of sexism because she doesn't trust Phoenix?
Oh, I almost forgot. If Diego is misogynistic, then Mia is a weak patriarchal woman with no self-respect and a victim, right?
Tumblr media
Let me skip the screenshots where I prove that Mia is cool. Diego tries to be strong and wants to protect his loved ones, not because society demands it from men. And Mia teach Phoenix to smile in the most terrible moments, not because society demands it from women. It's just their personality. Both Diego and Mia do not like to talk about their injuries to other people. It's definitely toxic to them. But is it masculinity? I don’t think so.
And by the way. I don't consider this dialogue problematic in context. Diego just broke down because of a lot of stress. Franziska was the first to be rude.
Tumblr media
Just because he doesn't like Franziska doesn't mean he doesn't like all women. I'm pretty sure that he can't stand kids with whips who criticize strangers for an unimportant things while they are on the verge of a nervous breakdown.
Tumblr media
Let's say thanks to Franziska von Karma for taking the brunt of it! Although in the end Phoenix couldn't avoid it anyway... Game: Franziska will beat Pheonix with a whip Anime: Diego grabs and pushes him. Maybe Diego is biased because he knows her father or associates her with Dahlia. Maybe he draws conclusions about Franziska from her terrible behavior (+reacts painfully to her claims because of his feeling of guilt, which he tries to deny). It doesn't matter, he has the right not to like her.
But I understand, "know your role" sounds like more than just an insult. What is her role? The game doesn't explain what Diego means. You can insert literally anything here: snobbery, prosecutor hierarchy (the replacement prosecutor and the main prosecutor), ageism, sexism, hatred of the Germans. Or he's just careless with specific insults. This phrase contradicts the image of Diego, which we saw the entire previous game and will see after this. It raises questions.
Tumblr media
... Not again... Don't tell me that the word "role" is really only for the sake of a funny reference. It's stupid.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
She is cute but who can stand Franziska anyway... P.S.: The game does everything to make Diego look like a good person (he is the third main antagonist, and seriously, Miles and Franziska are shown to be much more ambiguous). But it can't do anything about those who WANTS to hate him. Everyone has their own reason. Ship war, wrong activism, just fun... This is how fanons work in any fandom. People can find something absolutely everywhere. I have seen such wild “errors” in the interpretation of the most understandable canon that I see no reason to excuse "fans", sorry. Bonus Diego is a very funny character. I love all these cool (and ridiculous) metaphors. I love that Diego drinks so much coffee. And I like the fact that Diego quotes phrases about men, but in situations with a women.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Maybe this is a language habit due to the existence in the male team.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Or he deliberately saying it with smile to motivate Mia.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
So... What's the answer? Sometimes Diego says manly things, but only when they don't fit the context. It's funny and cute because they instantly clash with the real world, turning their meaning upside down.
Tumblr media
Diego and his strange metaphors... I guess Diego has some personal perception of men (not serious, like "a man should drink 10 cups of coffee a day"), but definitely not women. In conclusion, there aren't characters in the game that think about Godot bad. Even Phoenix instantly changed his attitude towards him. Do you know why Diego is my favorite character? Because he is complex and dramatic. But most importantly, because he is a pro-feminist.

Rpg Anon: For the Bingo: Hinazumi, Soudaionji, Togahina, Naegiri, Fuyupeko, Tokomaru, Soruko, Saimatsu, Tsumioda, and everything. Yeah that's right. I'm throwing all the ships at ya.
//Aight, that's fair. Might as well get it out of the way.
Tumblr media
//I really do wish that Mahiru was a more integral character to DR2's plot, because her interactions with Hajime in the Free Time Events are probably the cutest the game has to offer. Originally I was more of a Hinanami fan, and honestly I still am, but I've been corrupted by these two.
//Mahiru and Hajime are perfect catalysts for each other's character development, since one counters the others past trauma. Being someone who's just a meer photographer, Mahiru also has the potential to relate to Hajime more as a talentless individual.
//Ship is hella underrated, it needs more love.
Tumblr media
//Outside of Survivor, I'm not CRAZY about this pair, and honestly, the only place I can think of it starting from is that one manga where Usami creates a Japanese festival and they have a bonding moment.
//It's kind of like a Nagatoro/Senpai relationship where the girl mercilessly bullies the boy because she likes him, and with these two, I can get behind that.
//Especially because of how much opposites attract. Hiyoko has a graceful design but a less than graceful personality, wheras Kazuichi is an honestly nice guy but looks and acts pathetic. There is potential there, but due to it being such a meager and not-well established ship, it lacks the fanbase movement to make it worth it.
Tumblr media
//I didn't write down romantically or platonically on this one because the basic pair can go either way. This pairing is basically the definition of that high-school movie couple that's the pompous rich girl and the jock, except the gender roles are reversed, and honestly, I think that's pretty funny.
//Hina and Byakuya's progressions from adversaries to friends in DR1 and DR3 is actually pretty fun and natural, and the idea of Byakuya softening up around his classmates is one that I can more than get behind. Hina being the catalyst for it is also perfect.
//I kind of wish more people talked about this one.
Tumblr media
//Don't think anyone's gonna argue with me for holding Naegiri in high regard. Makoto is the character who I have the MOST ships with, because I also think Sayaka and Mukuro make for amazing partners, but because Kyoko has spent the most time bonding with
//They have this theme where they can bring out themselves in each other to help balance out where their characters lean. Makoto is usually optimistic and wistful, but Kyoko can help bring him back down to earth and make him face reality if he ends up in a tizz. Alternatively, Makoto's optimism breaks Kyoko's ordinarily stone-cold expression, and it's shown in DR3 that she's gotten to the point that she is unashamed to speak highly of Makoto, because she's come to respect him and value him as a friend, something she would not have done in early DR1.
//They make each other the best versions of themselves and that's all a good relationship needs. Plus, the cool girl and lame boy dynamic is rarely ever not fun.
Tumblr media
//These two got married after DR2 happened and nobody can tell me otherwise.
//Honestly though, as cute as I think Kuzupeko is, their actual canon relationship is kind of toxic. I know that's the point, but I like to think that Peko works herself out of that horrid mindset of being Fuyuhiko's servant and nothing else once she realizes how much he really loves her, not just romantically, but as a friend.
//Peko's also pretty good for Fuyuhiko's health. Even before any relationship upgrades I imagine he always vents to her about stupid shit because he can't trust anyone else with it, and thinking about that makes me realize how much they trust each other. They deserve one another, and no one else should have them.
Tumblr media
//What I find most hilarious about Tokomaru is that it's basically just Naegiri with baggage. Rather, MORE baggage. Also, lots more screen time and room for development, since UDG is basically ABOUT these two and outside of every horrible thing that game brought, this relationship was not one of them.
//Like her brother, Komaru can be easily overwhelmed, emotional and sometimes too optimistic for her own good, and Toko helps mediate this with her more cynical and realistic personality. In turn, Komaru's more ordinary high school girl nature and her own quirks as a character suit Toko well, normalizing HER fucked up writing and bringing out the human side that she SERIOUSLY lacked in DR1.
//Speaking from the heart, I actually think these two are my current favourite couple in DR Survivor. I already talked in a previous post how writing Toko is one of the most fun and engaging things I've ever done, and I'm proud to see the natural progression of this pair and how far they've come together. If only DR weren't cowards and made them canonical lesbian lovers.
//WHERE IS UDG2 GOD DAMMIT!?
Tumblr media
//Soruko is a pair that I love, but I have a hard time writing because Sora can sometimes be a MASSIVE DICK to her wife. Not that she means it, but sometimes I feel like I inadvertently make Sora this big dick energy monster who wants dominance over Yoru, and that's NOT what these two are.
//I get why they don't want to just write proper ships in even the fangames, but these two had such an intense amount of sexual tension between them for most of Another 2, and the way their stories end is frankly tragic and bittersweet.
//I have LOTS of problems with Another 2, really, I do. But these two were one of the things that actually drew me into the game. I think they should have kissed at least
Tumblr media
//This is my favourite ship in canon and has been so since the dawn of time. It takes aspects from all the other relationships in Danganronpa I love and meshes them together in a sweet romantic lasagna.
//My biggest GRIPE is how little we got to actually SEE of these two, and the fact that whatever romantic scenes we get of them are called forced by a majority of the fandom. And I will admit, stories like Three-Point Shot and others like it portray Saimatsu in a much better way than the main series does. But the potential is unmatched.
//Like Tokomaru and Naegiri, one is an optimistic girl who is given reality checks by the more serious boy, who also has clear past trauma and depression that is quelled by the optimistic girl. It's the PERFECT healthy dynamic, and the good thing about it is that neither Kaede nor Shuichi are ever portrayed as perfect protagonists. In fact, they perfectly cover for the other's flaws to help sustain that balance. Their designs reflect this as well with Kaede's faded but colors being the basic reverse pallete of Shuichi's darker ones. Even as one of Shuichi's more well established ships, these two deserve more attention.
Tumblr media
//Ooooooh fuuuuuck...I have a LOT to say about this one...
//This is probably my favorite ship in the series, possibly only beaten by Saimatsu. More people need to talk about this pair, it's frankly the best that the both of them can find among whatever pairings they might have.
//They have basically no interactions in the games and I think that's REALLY sad actually, because their dynamic of the emotionally strong girl and the emotionally frail girl has potential that just isn't explored, when it SHOULD be. Especially considering that Ibuki is probably the only character who can definitively FIX what's wrong with Mikan.
//Ibuki's entire Free Time Event storyline is all about her being herself, but also subtly helping Hajime overcome his fears and insecurities as a person by naturally taking his mind off them to have fun, and this really does help Hajime. If ANYONE needs therapy like that, it's Mikan. And Ibuki is just so naturally optimistic and charismatic, even Mikan should be able to see that nothing Ibuki does is foreplay or taking advantage of her.
//LET THESE TWO BE A THING!

Quick analysis on how Taichi and Daisuke are similar - but still very different.
Tumblr media
This will not be a full analysis, but I’ve been wanting to compare them for ages and finally got around to write down a few of my thoughts.
What do they have in common?
Not going too much into detail in regards to the fact that they're both TURNED into designated leaders/goggleheads, because that's just the main premise that Digimon keeps using, even if all goggleheads are distinctively different, despite sharing certain attributes.
Daisuke is the heir of the Crest of Courage, hence the narrative tells us he is Taichi’s heir as well - they both have the tendency to jump right in(to trouble) and to sacrifice themselves for the sake of protecting their friends. Despite them having their moments of fear and self-doubt, they will act when it matters, with their hearts on the right spot. Both of them are learning that there’s a fine line between blind actionism and doing something for the sake of doing the right thing. Also despite knowing that there are moments when it cannot be avoided, they both hate to let sacrifices happen (thus they tend to sacrifice themselves instead).
They're both brothers of sisters, even if we know that plays out VERY differently, with Taichi being the protective big brother (who is traumatized for having almost killed his sister, resulting in self-esteem issues towards the fear of "hurting others by being inconsiderate") and Daisuke being the annoyed little brother (who is developing competitive self-esteem issues because of it, feeling "inadequate and having to prove himself all the time").
They love football and see it as a valuable thing in their lives; Taichi uses football metaphors in the novels all the time and even if it isn't implied in the same way as it is for Yamato, giving it up must have been painful (hello there, depression, leaving your hobbies behind). For Daisuke, it's also something he pulls his self-esteem from, a.) by wanting to be as good as his senpai, b.) maybe even impressing him and his other friends and c.) generally having fun despite its competitive nature (which we see when he approaches Ken - sure, he wants to win and he was beaming after getting praised by him, but in general - it's just a lot of FUN).
They actually do not exactly claim to be leaders, but are seen as those by their respective groups; while Taichi is the better strategist when it comes to conducting plans, he trusts his intuition a lot and - especially the older he gets - thinks things through more. Daisuke DEFINITELY trusts his intuition and gut more the longer the series goes on, but just like Taichi, his will inspires the others and so they kinda naturally gravitate towards thinking of them as leaders (even if that takes time in both cases).
What differentiates them?
Despite both of them having self-esteem issues as mentioned above, the root-causes and coping strategies are very different. Daisuke, as mentioned, really wants to prove himself (as a younger sibling who gets into fights a lot), he adores Taichi and Hikari. And he overcompensates by wanting to impress them at all costs, by talking big, wanting to win against Takeru in general, but also in terms of getting Hikari's affection. It may even become a self-fulfilling prophecy, because people call him names (implying him to be “dumb”), and he actually ends up doing dumb stuff because of it. So as soon as he finds another purpose (such as integrating Ken into the group), all his good qualities eventually come through, because he thinks of somebody else first and doesn't want to prove himself there. He has a good heart, he may appear to be more simple minded, but it's because he actually values his simple, peaceful life and the people he surrounds himself with.
With Taichi, I may not want to repeat everything all over again, but we know he is afraid of hurting others, of being inconsiderate, making the wrong decisions and facing the consequences, thus getting him into a spiral, making him feel weak and like a coward; because he hurt Hikari, because he was told by Yamato repeatedly that he was doing things the wrong way, because he was the reason Sora got captured due to his own recklessness, etc. He IS (and learns to be more) considerate, but his actionism often gets in the way and (similarly to Daisuke), he may not always find the right words (yet), but he means well. He HAS to make decisions to snap out of all of that, and he is (probably?) aware of that due to his past experiences. So he should also know that he cannot (and shouldn't) do everything alone (as his strategies have often proven that relying on the others’ strengths is important, such as Yamato’s fighting prowess and Koushirou’s intelligence). Yet he has a tendency to burden himself with the pain on his own and isolates himself because of it. As much as he loves his friends (and suffers from the isolation), him upholding that mask for his own and their sake (especially as he gets older) is something he has to overcome.
(On a more “headcanon-y” note, I also still believe that Daisuke’s crush on Hikari was an extension of him kinda crushing on Taichi, but being in denial about it because "That's gay", and since Hikari was kind to him, he projected onto that, because "wow, a girl who is nice to me!!!!". Especially seeing how her older sibling is actually nice and protective instead of bullying her - and Daisuke aspiring to be like Taichi may actually have an influence on him wanting to protect Hikari as well. Additionally, you may argue that Hikari is also his type physically, since Ken has basically the same haircut, but is actually a guy. Of course Daisuke’s sexual orientation is presented to be hetero and Daiken will probably always just be fanon; however, Daisuke’s character development starts the moment he wants to get closer to Ken and abandons trying to impress Hikari, so his ambitions can technically be read as performative heteronormativity. But as mentioned, that is purely headcanon based and can be taken with a grain of salt.)

Chapter 13 - New Rules, New Moves
Tumblr media
Kisara changed into more casual clothes just as she always did whenever she knew some fighting would be involved, mainly, a pair of fashionable and slightly large high-waisted black pants, a cute crop top and her kitsune-patterned haori, with the katana attached ever-permanently at her hip. She instructed Ohma to go outside and train, while she goes to scout around the ballroom and get some food for him when she's done listening to Katahara's announcement.
As soon as she got there, she spotted Agito, of all people, chatting rather friendly with Naoya and Himuro. She couldn't help but chuckle and step over to them, finding out that they were talking about Ultraman and Zetton, the boss monster Okubo compared Agito to. But it seems like the Fang really is out of this world, for he knows just about nothing about real life.
"Agito, do you not know about video games at all?" Kisara asked, getting in front of him, next to the other MMA fighter. "What are those?" that genuine question made both the girl and Naoya gasp in disdain. "How can you not know of video games?!" they yelled in unison, as he simply shrugged. "Kisara, we must teach him about video games, some day! And soon!" she nodded vigorously, their arms crossed over their chest, as if they meant business. "If you don't know about video games... Does it mean that you're not familiar with most of the things that happen outside of Katahara's circle and general fighting?" the stupefying answer was an affirmative nod of his head. "I never needed anything else but to get stronger and protect the Chairman." what a heartbreaking life. "But would you like to experience and see the world with your own eyes, someday?" came the red head's question. "I don't know." he replied simply. "For as long as Chairman Katahara needs me, I cannot leave my spot by his side." it was a shattering explanation, but it made a lot of sense. "I understand... You're very loyal to the Chairman. I can see all the people who work for him trust and respect him a lot." she realised. "Man, but what a sad life. You need a hobby. Next thing, you'll tell us you never watched a movie before!" but the answer was negative. "That's, by far, the saddest thing I've ever heard in my life." Naoya's head was spinning, hearing the Fang being so unaware of the world outside. "Wait, hold up. Hatsumi Senpai said he was a candidate for the spot of The Fang when he was younger. I think 20 years ago, which means you weren't The Fang 20 years ago... And 20 years ago you must have still been a child, or at least, not an adult yet, so that means you weren't as indispensable to Katahara as you are now. So... What about your youth? Have you done nothing fun, or picked a hobby before that time?" Kisara pointed out, remembering the horror with which Hatsumi explained the time he went to Katahara's home after being personally picked as The Fang candidate, but got bored in about two days. "I don't remember much of my childhood, but Chairman Katahara took me in and gave me a proper education from a younger age. I guess I never thought about anything else." he was pretty unbothered by not having knowledge of the fun activities. "Alright, alright, I understand. Well - If you ever want to go travel the world, hit me up. After this tournament is over, I'm planning to go on a complete world tour." she smiled friendly at him. "Thank you for the invitation." he spoke, as formal as ever. "Naoya. Himuro. Better teach Agito about video games and movies in the meantime." the girl gave them a thumbs up, and they gave her a mock military salute, as they started showing various video games on their phones. In a way, she wanted to spend a bit more time with them - Although clueless, Agito was a nice person, and with Naoya and Himuro there, the conversation wasn't awkward in the least - Damn, extroverted, social people. On the other hand, she spotted both Gaolang and Kaneda there, having a jovial chat, and whilst she wanted to congratulate the Thai on his outstanding performance, and hopefully, convince him to teach her a few Muay Thai moves, and hype up the smaller one for inspiring people to get better and better.
"Hey, you guys, how are you after having such a fantastic match?" the girl held a large, encouraging grin on her face. "Ah... Hahaa... Miss Kisara, don't tease me, that was anything but fantastic. Gaolang beat me up without even sweating." Kaneda stuck his tongue out like an awkward little kitten. "No, no, don't say that, you were completely inspirational! If I had heard you four years ago, I'd have started crying. I really needed to hear something like that, and I think more people were moved by your words." she praised the man who grinned shyly. "You're embarrassing me, Miss Kisara, but thank you. I just... Said what I've been feeling my entire life. I was born with a weak body, and during my childhood, I've suffered tons of diseases and surgeries. Ha... I don't really like speaking about it, it's not a manly thing, admitting to your weaknesses... But the point of it all is striving to get better and stronger every day." the man with fox eyes explained, watching the girl nod her head in approval. "Yes, exactly! Four years ago, my Senpai told me the same thing. Four years ago, I was living off of coffee and a light meal per day, buried deep into studying medicine. I was tired all the time, physically, mentally, emotionally, and I always felt so weak and good for nothing. I then got introduced in this whole kengan mess, and my friend introduced me to my senpai, who taught me what it means to be strong and reach out for your dreams." Kaneda's eyes opened, beaming at the girl with wonder and awe - He had actually managed to inspire someone to become better! His heart was swelling with pride! "That's right, Kaneda, you were a true warrior in the battlefield. You, as well as your fighting style and wit, were admirable." Gaolang agreed to the praise given to his opponent. "Enough, you two, you are embarrassing me..." he chuckled, waving his hand dismissively at the two. "I was wondering... You two... Since tomorrow is a free day... But it be okay to ask you to teach me some of your simpler moves?" the girl asked, smiling a bit timidly, seeing as they were looking at her with wide eyes of surprise and mouth slightly agape. "There's a lot of things I can't do, because I don't have the body built for all this... And I'll never have it, anyway. I couldn't possibly become a pro-wrestler or grappler or brawler, you know? Aside for aikido, I don't think there's anything that I can really do, that would put me on an equal line with all of you, guys. But I've been training for four years now, and I've been picking up different moves from different styles, and I've been adapting them to my own capabilities. I want to get better for myself, so that if anything ever happens, there's no doubt I'll get out of whatever predicament I'm thrown into... And I really enjoyed your fight. And I want to start being able to do elbow and knee hits too." she grinned sheepishly, earning a hum of amusement from the Thai. "It would be my honor to teach you, Miss Kisara! Let's meet up tomorrow and practice together, yes? I think it would do you some good for your next match, yes, Gaolang?" Kaneda looked up with glee at the boxer. "Yes, that sounds good. I will need good practice against the strongest man in the underground. He's a worthy foe indeed." he spared a glance towards Agito, who was looking into Naoya's phone, still as confused as before. "I must win, for His Highness..." though Kisara had no time to thank them, for the biggest child in the world appeared like an obnoxious jump-scare out of thin air and wrapped his arms around the two fighters. "GAOLAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANG!!! KANEDA SUEKICHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII! THAT FIRGHT WAS SO AWESOOOOOOOOOME!!! I WAS SOOOOOOOOO MOOOOOOOOOOOVED!!!" his scream resounded through the hall room, and whilst Kisara couldn't help but cringe from the ear pain, she knew Kaneda and Gaolang were doing much worse, probably even ruptured eardrums. "Damn. He found me." the Thai grumbled, exasperated. From a little behind, Sayaka cheered happily for Saw Paing, for finding his friend, and another man that sported beautiful red hair just like the fox girl's, and a long side plait that complimented the one Sayaka wore on the other side, put his jacket over her shoulders. He must be Retsudo, Katahara's child that was in charge of the bodyguards or whatever, as Gaolang pointed out. It was the first time she saw him, but he was as beautiful as his sister, despite how different they looked.
As if on cue, Katahara's face appeared on the large screen, booming his announcement with the same jovial voice as always. "Hello, everybody~♪ Are we having fun? You've all been a delight today. Now, I know this is sudden, but I'd like to announce an additional rule. Also, this video is being broadcast across the island. It would be, how you say, 'unfair' if you had information that people who didn't attend the party didn't have." the whole place was mumbling around, flustered at the idea of an additional rule. "Okay, here it goes~♪ From the second round on, you are allowed to substitute your fighter no more than once. You are free to select anyone, so long as you have their consent. The substitution can be made right up until the match begins, so give it a good think. That's all, bye-bye~♪!" the man chirped as the screen closed and everyone was left chattering amongst themselves. What an awful rule. People can scout from the winners, from the losers, from anything, anyone and whatever. Those CEOs out there might need to keep their fighters safe... And vice-versa.
"Stay safe, you guys, and I'll be seeing you tomorrow." with a smile and a peace sign, Kisara went to get a tray and put lots of food on it, before turning to leave the party and go into the forest.  Her mind was on Ohma and how people would try to scout him for being so strong.
As soon as she found her way around to wherever Ohma was, she saw he was already pretty tired and sweating, and in front of him, a huge boulder had  pretty large craters made by his punches. They were still steaming from the impact. That's remarkable, Kisara thought, as she whistled to the man, who turned around, a frown on his face. "Hey, pretty boy, lookin' good~❤️!" the girl smiled at him, sitting on the ground and urging him to come over and eat. "Not now. Hold up a second. I'm still pissed off at how fuckin' pathetic I was, letting that greased up asshole provoke me into attacking him. Nikos' ghost showed up too and threw me the hell off. I thought that all I wanted was to kill Setsuna... So why did I challenge that son of a bitch? I don't get it... If this keeps up, I'll never..." he kept trailing on, his fists clenched in anger. "You challenged him because, as you told Setsuna, and me, and Yamashita and Kaede... You want to prove to all those arrogant bitches that it's YOU who's the strongest out there. Setsuna doesn't matter, he's just another pawn in the long run. You probably won't even get to fight him in the tournament. But if you end up winning this whole thing, that means you've already defeated him, by default, yes?" she tried to calm him down, but just as she explained that, the man turned around, his eyes wide with shock - His gaze was fixed towards a certain point into the horizon, and he started speaking by himself. Was he seeing Niko again...? "You again? ... That, huh? I guess I haven't done it in a while. Fine. I'll do it if it'll make you get the hell outta my head." he muttered, putting his fingers tips close to each other, creating a sphere-like shape. "Watch closely, Hasashi Kisara. This is Niko style Nil Kata Void. You might learn something." he took a deep breath, and in that instant, it felt as if he had transcendent into another universe and allowed the God of War to possess his body into a stance Kisara was unfamiliar with. He corrected his center of gravity and the angle of his fist, and launched a punch towards the boulder. This time, however, the impact created a crater that took half the radius of the boulder surface. "Wh-What the fuck was that?!" he gasped in complete bewilderment. "THAT WAS FANTASTIC!" Kisara jumped up to her feet, running by his side. "This is almost as big as Takeshi's craters...! Ohma, what was this move, it was amazing!"  "A...Adamantine... Kata...? Ironbreaker...?" he muttered softly, staring in disbelief at his fist - HE did that crater! "Adamantine Kata? The one that you said was lame and useless? You've managed to perfect it in an hour?" she asked, just as in awe as him. "I... Don't know." he muttered, letting his hand fall down by his side. "I saw Niko again. He told me to meditate, just now... And I got a flashback of some of my memories. I didn't even realise I was punching the rock until I actually did. He said... This was how the Adamantine Kata was supposed to go... And that I had to get back my memories to get my real self back." he raised his gaze up towards the punched boulder. "To hell with him. He's always spoken in riddles. I hate him for that." he huffed, shaking his head. "That was fantastic, what do you mean? As soon as you took that that deep breath, it was like you were a complete different person." she explained, placing her hand over his fist. "Do that again." "I see. Fine. Step back, let me try again." just as before, he took a deep breath and took a stance, yet the impact wasn't as strong as before, yet much better than the first time around. "Why didn't it work...?" "Because now, it's you from the present. The big one was made by the past-you possessing your present-you. As soon as you managed to get your past-self in tandem with your present-self, you'll get your mind and body in complete equilibrium and succeed like this." Ohma looked at the girl, and with a scoff, he flicked her forehead. "Niko didn't die for you to take his place and piss me off with those fancy words and riddles of yours." he chuckled, watching the girl clutch her forehead in pain.  "Well, if Niko was alive, he's have slapped you over the head for being a jerk to your girlfriend." she huffed, but was unable to stop the amused smile on her face. "Girlfriend, huh?" the man teased her - It was a slip of the tongue, but Ohma realised, he didn't really mind calling Kisara his girlfriend. At first, it was weird, being in a 'relationship', while he only wanted to get stronger and get revenge. Partner - He liked that. It sounded like Kisara was his partner in crime... But it wasn't as close as 'girlfriend' was. But 'girlfriend' also sounds rather shallow, and 'lover' almost sounded like she was a mistress. All the other nicknames that she uses for him in private, he loves them, but he couldn't possibly call her the same, they're too sappy. So... What is he left with? Just the best. Hasashi Kisara. Her own name. It was beautiful, just like her, and it had a certain ring to it whenever he called her that. He didn't have many people that he'd call by their full name, it was endearing, and only two people ever had that privilege. Yamashita Kazuo and Hasashi Kisara. "Sounds good to me. And does my girlfriend still want to learn that shitty technique, once I get the hang of it?" he asked, letting his arms rest on her shoulders, his face close to hers. "Of course. But first, you have to eat something, at least while it's still pretty warm. And don't rub your sweat all over me, these are good clothes." she smirked, stealing a quick kiss before ducking down from his arms and going back to the spot where she let the food plate on a smaller rock. "That's not what you say at night." he always loved teasing her. "Well, duh. You don't let many clothes stay on." she muttered, rolling her eyes and stealing the fork from his hand, that was holding a veal steak. "You want me to eat, but you steal my food. Little vixen. I'll just end up eating you." he let out a barked chuckle, getting another piece of meat. "And what a shame that would be~❤️" she let out an enigmatic giggle, looking to the side with rosy cheeks. "Still as shy as always, Hasashi Kisara." he shook his head, yet his smile spoke what words couldn't convey. "A'ight, now get up, let's get to work." he jumped up to his feet and extended his hand towards her, helping her stand. "So, what do I do?" Ohma got behind her, taking off her haori and adjusted her stance so she would be clearing out her head the same way he did when meditating. She took a deep breath and relaxed her muscles, the same as when she was meditating under a waterfall. When she felt ready, she was to prepare and punch Ohma's flexed arm. "Not bad. Go again." The point was to achieve a good punch without prior seconds lost on the meditating. "Good. Faster now." and she amped up her speed. "Harder" in detriment of speed, she managed to amplify the strength of the punch. "You got slower. You have to keep up the speed." it wasn't as easy as he always made it look, but it felt good. "Good girl. That's it. Keep it up." more and more and more, Kisara punched away at his arm until it felt sore. "Okay, that's enough for now, you got the hang of it. It's not wall-breaking punch, but it should do the trick, for now." the two let their guard down. "Oh no, now we're going to the blocking, huh?" she smiled wryly. "Don't test THIS technique on me, please. You'll kill me." "I wouldn't go that far with you. Take this stance - Yeah, like that - The point of it is the complete opposite of the meditation Kata. You have to flex up the part that you'll use to block the hit to the point that it's tougher than the hit itself." the girl's eyes bulged with horror. "Doesn't sound as appealing anymore, does it?" "No, not at all. I don't want to end up with broken bones before the tournament end - I still have like three more night to have fun." she chuckled nervously, getting in the stance instructed. "You won't die, chill out. Alright then. I know you can keep up with my speed, to the point is, flex as hard as you can just before the moment of the impact. Understood?" with a nod of understanding, Kisara got ready. "Here it goes." as promised, the punch wasn't enough to kill her, but it threw her balance off.  "Ouch, that hurt." she muttered, rubbing her arm up and down. "Never said it wouldn't. Try to stay on your feet. Let's go again." the two got in a stance, and the girl took a deep breath, readying herself. Ohma made sure to amp his strength up a bit and he punch the girl. This time, though she stumbled a bit, she was able to keep it up. "Go again." it was Kisara this time who urged her partner to go again, and as he did, she managed to plant her feet well enough that she didn't stumble. "Again." another amp up in strength and speed, and she did just as well. "You're doing good. Let's make it better. Get in the stance and flex with a twist. Stay relax, and use your reflexes to pick up when I'm going to strike. Ready?" with a nod, Kisara let her guard down and took a deep breath. "Ready." it always fascinated the man how she could just drop everything she was doing and look so incredibly focused, like a samurai facing an enemy, ready to lash out the decisive strike. Her eyes were unblinking and fixed on his stance, his shoulders, his fist, his torso and each line of his toned muscles were carefully analysed. As expected, she easily predicted the moment he wanted to hit, and stood her ground, guarding perfectly. "Again." this time, she went harder and faster, and she was able to guard again. "Again." instead of a direct hit, he did a feint first - Though the girl immediately inched back, she swung her arm up to guard only when the real hit was initiated. "Good, good. One more time. I won't coddle you. Ready?" though she gulped, Kisara nodded and got in position. Judging from his tensed up body, he wasn't going to mess around with this one. As soon as he struck her arm, she was sent flying to the ground with a grunt. "Gah, that really hurt..." she held her arm, rubbing and clutching onto it. "Maybe it hurt, but you did good. It's almost the same amount of strength I used in my fight against Inaba Ryo." it was a praise in itself hearing Ohma say he used about the same strength as when he fights professionally. "Thanks for the compliment... And the bruise. You really surprised me... But I don't think I could have done any better." she muttered, getting helped to stand. "I've been training my whole life, Hasashi Kisara. You barely have four or less. It better than most weaklings out there who think they're some real deal. Look at Rihito and Kaneda, or that annoying dancing guy with the stupid hair. You'd destroy them in a fight." and if this didn't make her feel better, the fact that he gave her a piggy-back ride back to their room definitely did the trick.
Though, that night, instead of spending the night in their usual room, Yamashita Kazuo informed them that Nogi had them move to a house, away from the center of the island and away from many other people, in fear of having Ohma scouted by the competition. It was a bit weird, and yet, their own room was much bigger than the suite from the hotel, which was amusing, but no one complained. Even the bed was bigger, though the decorum of the room was... Leaning towards a more eccentric side. The suite was much classier, and Kisara liked it a bit better. Hopefully, she won't be losing her way to this new house, just like she did with their apartment suite many times.
That night, Ohma and Kisara were laying on the bed, looking up at the awfully kitsch painted ceiling, and making jokes about this whole place and whoever was the idiot who came up with all the... Surrealistic art, but in more simple words. Though she was pretty inattentive and reveling in the peaceful relaxation of the atmosphere, the Picasso-esque ceiling, her vision was obstructed by a flock of dark seaweed tickling her face. The cocky smirk of her lover was so close to her, that if she bothered she lean up a bit, she could easily steal a kiss. "Hi." she breathed out softly. "I did a good job with your hair, huh?" she reached out her hand to caress her soft ebony hair - It was always so soft after a proper bath. "Small talk's boring, Hasashi Kisara. Why don't you tell me what you see right now?" he was resting in a position that looked very much like a low plank, his forearms on either side of her head, and his body flushed against hers. "I see the same thing that I see every day. You. Only you. All the time." she smiled tenderly at him, her other hand reaching to his back, pulling him closer to her. "I see the strongest man I've ever known. The man that will always be on top. The one who will win this tournament. How's that? Do I still have perfect sight, or do I need some glasses?" she mused, caressing his face. "Good girl." he let out a teasing breath. "Come 'ere, you little vixen." his hands went underneath her torso and he picked her up in a tight hug, his face nuzzling at her neck. His hot breath was making the girl struggle - She was so ticklish that she couldn't hold it together. She was giggling so much that she had no air left in her lungs. "Ohma. Can you promise me something?" as soon as he stopped messing around, Kisara's voice calmed down. He merely let out a grunt that signaled her to continue her question. "Promise me... You will do everything in your power not to disappear. That's all. Don't disappear on me. Go out there, be the best because you are the best... But don't... Don't disappear." her arms coiled around him in a tight hug. "Disappear? Ha. You've been doing great by yourself. You've now got a shit ton of friends. You won't have time to realize that I'm missing." he chuckled, teasing the girl. "But they're not you." she muttered lightly. "Just because I'm doing fine by myself, doesn't mean that I want to be my myself. I was always looking forward to seeing you again, as soon as you'd leave." Kisara's confession was moving, and Ohma couldn't help but lean away from her neck, getting a good look at her face. She was genuine as always.  With a hum of hilarity, he touched his forehead to her and smiled fondly. "You're abusing the fact that you know I'm into you being upfront with your feelings like that."  "That's what I've always bet on." she offered him that sweet, kitten-like smile before putting him into another loving kiss.
The next morning, early on, all the occupants of the lodging sans the manager woke up around late afternoong - After a wonderful breakfast prepared by one of Katahara's bodyguards, a blond with long hair and an eyepatch. His name was Yoshioka as he was assigned to do just about everything the Yamashita co. people wanted.
In the meantime, Kisara got in her light clothing and took off to meet with Gaolang and Kaneda, who were already there, having conversation. With some small talk going, the trio went deep into the forest, away from prying eyes, so they can warm up and get ready to train. The first teacher was Kaneda, and he explained the gist of his Foresight after hearing that the girl has great reflexes and speed, and though the drawback of this ability is that you need to take several blows to be able to understand the opponent's move pattern and create a complete counter-strategy. To practice this, Kaneda had Gaolang face the girl, so he would be the one pointing out what she must do - Of course, the Thai wasn't going to actually fight the girl, just help her understand how to pull the Foresight.
Much to all their surprise, as soon as Gaolang lunged to throw a punch, Kisara side stepped and grabbed him by the fist and wrist, flipping him and slamming him to the ground. "OH -- SHIT, I'M SORRY, THAT WASN'T INTENTIONAL, I'M SO SORRY GAOLANG!!!" she watched the man laying on the ground with a horrified expression, as the men's eyes were wide. The Thai was looking up at the girl with complete disbelief as she quickly crouched to his level, helping him up. "I'm so sorry for that, I really didn't mean to. It became an instinct... Whenever someone tried to hit me, I throw them away." she apologised profusely for the thousandth time. "That was a good throw. You did mention you knew some fighting techniques but I didn't imagine they'd be at this level. I am impressed." he disspelled all her worried and apologies. "Alright, I don't think Miss Kisara needs much training in the Foresight. I'm a practitioner of the Kujin style, and though it's used as a battlefield hand to hand combat style, I adapted it to my own person. What you did was similar to some of my moves, so I was thinking we could try out some of these moves." the smaller man suggested and thus, he got next to her and showed her each of the stances and postures, when and why to use them, and the physics behind them, while using Gaolang again as the opponent, though this time, he was prepared for a potential beating down, so he defended all her counters. "You're doing well. Let's move on." Gaolang nodded at the girl. "Show me your jabs" "I wouldn't say they are my forte, especially if the opponent is considerably more powerful than me. But I have pretty good speed and balance, so I guess that would work in my advantage." the girl explained, watching as the Thai walked next to her and got in his famous stance, before performing the Flash with 15 jabs, in slow motion, breaking down the technique. Kisara was absolutely fascinated, but more than anything, she was shocked that he was actually teaching her his famous signature move. "Gaolang... This is your move. You made this. You perfected this. I couldn't... I couldn't possibly..." she trailed on, only to feel a pat on her head, followed by a soft smile by the man. "Everyone already knows my move, if they wanted to, they could easily learn it themselves. But you came over to me and Kaneda and asked for help, so we're helping you. I see no reason why you would feel you shouldn't be taught these techniques." with his reassuring, Kisara flashed back a matchingly charming smile and tried to mimic his stance, and with a bit of adjusting, she got the gist of it. Little by little, step forward, step forward, a dangling forearm, followed by numerous jabs that, with each try, got faster and faster, until the master was satisfied with her progress, and had her face him. "No Aikido or other techniques. Let's just practice this. I'll go slower so you can pick up easier on the key points and body movements needed for each strike." the man instructed, and getting a few feet in front of the girl. The two got in their stances, with Kaneda watching and initiating the fight, and the first to move was the instructor.
Though he said he would go slow, he was still remarkably fast - Fortunately, he still wasn't as fast as Hatsumi, so she could follow his moves with great ease and retaliate. With her guard up, and her elbows slightly apart, just like she was taught, she looked through the small gap and made sure she blocked all strikes. Though, she left a bigger gap between her elbows on purpose, tempting the Thai to attack just below the neck - And the temptation paid off, for in that instance, she side stepped and elbowed his wrist away, combining the disruption of the fighting flow that Ohma taught her, and the elbow usage that she mastered with Gaolang's help - And she hit an uppercut to his chin, before doing multiple jabs to his abdomen and diaphragm. If she were taller, she'd have punched his face, like all real fighters do, but due to her being about 25 centimeters shorter than him, elongating her arm fully would not only slow her, but also work in her disadvantage. Keeping her arm slightly bent and quick, repeated punches in key-areas was the perfect strategy for her. "That was ruthless. I didn't expect you to pull off something so sneaky. Well done." the man smiled at her, giving the approval for her performance. "I don't have outstanding strength like all of you, so I have to make it up for my weaknesses in some way. I'm sure Kaneda gets what I mean. I already know I have great reflexes and speed, and I know a few techniques by now, I learnt how to read people's body language... So I need something that would give me the edge over anyone trying to fight me. And that is... Being tricky. My friends always called me a vixen for being playful and devious... So I have to come up with different tricks that would fool my opponents somehow. Watching you all fight in the tournament gives me a ton of ideas. If only I knew how to grapple, I would get even better. Cosmo really fascinates me, but I could never be as resilient as him, and I can't hold grips like him." the girl grinned sheepishly, explaining the reason behind her cunning. "People working hard and smart to overcome their weaknesses are the ones that will win it all, in the end. Just don't give up and keep getting better every day." Gaolang nodded in acknowledgement. "I don't know the reason behind you learning how to fight, but whatever it is, it's clearly a very strong motivator. Keep it up, Kisara. We are rooting for you." "Gaolang's right. Even if we weren't friends, I'd still be rooting for you. As someone weak who strives to be strong, I hope you'll reach the level that you want to achieve." with this encouragement from Kaneda, the trio went their own ways. It was already past lunch so Kisara really hoped there was still something left at home... If Ohma didn't eat everything.
And thankfully, there were still enough food laying around, so with her lunch in her belly now, she went to look for her messy haired boyfriend who was wet from head to toe, standing next to a lake nearby. Who knew this island even had lakes. As soon as she spotted him, she sat down by his side, and they stood like that in silence for a while. They stood like that for a while, but it was weird for them not to say anything for so long.
"Hey, you. You're awfully silent today. Have you trained too hard?" she asked, leaning her head on his shoulder. "I was just enjoying the very few moments of silence." he teased her, putting his arm around her and pulling her to his side. "Funny as always. That means your training is going perfectly." Kisara looked up at him with a smile, and as expected, that confident smirk was gracing his features. "Is it. I should go back to it soon." he muttered under his breath.  "If I were a fighter, I'd volunteer to spar with you... But I don't think I could do you any good to improve." she let out a small chuckle, only to see the man turn to her abruptly. "Sparing with me means you'll get hurt, yet you'd still volunteer?" the girl nodded. "Why?" he asked her again. "Why, you ask? Because I want to help you win. I'm not a great fighter - No, actually, I'm not a fighter at all... But if I can help with anything, I want to do it." she declared so leisurely that it made Ohma's jaw go agape. "Who are you and what have you done to my Hasashi Kisara?" his tone was filled with disbelief. "Hey, you - Don't be mean to me! I just want to help, what's so wrong with that?" her cute pout only made him pull her into a kiss before getting her up on her feet. "I can't afford to go easy on you if I want a proper sparring." he explained, his hands squeezing her shoulders. "Are you still sure you want to help me out? I already trained with Yoshioka a lot today."  "Uhm... Not the face... Please? I still wanna be pretty?" this sheepish comment earn a chuckle and another sweet kiss before Ohma moved a few steps backwards and got into his stance. Kisara didn't. "Get in your stance." but his order was met with a simple smile as Kisara put her hands in her pants pockets. "I'm not a martial artist, Ohma. I have no stance." she was such a little vixen, always surprising people, even him, after so many years. "Fine, have it your way, Alpha Queen whatever - At the count of 5, begin. Ready?" with a leisure nod of her head, Ohma began the counting. As soon as he reached the last cipher, Ohma lunged at the girl with top speed, yet, to his surprise, the moment he blinked in her proximity, he found himself far away, laying face up on the ground, staring at the clouds. "What the hell was that?" he was absolutely bewildered. Did he slip on something? "Is your back okay, Ohma? I hope you've healed up after yesterday's fight with Ryo." she casually turned around, yet her look expressed her genuine worry for his injuries. "I'm fine." in an instant, he jumped up and went for a high grab, but just as he got about three steps away from her, she fell on all fours and tripped him with her body, making him stumble over. Still, he regained his balance quickly and went for a straight punch, but she had new surprises as always - Just as Kaneda taught her, she side-stepped and grabbed his elbow joint so he wouldn't be able to flex it, and at the same time, she glued her leg to his and threw his balance away with his own technique. Though he was able to recover quickly from it, Kisara went further with Gaolang's fast Flash to his abdomen. "How many people have you trained for so far? By the end of the tournament, you'll get techniques from every fighter." Ohma chuckled, knowing very well what she was doing, as he was very impressed by how far she's gotten, even without him. "Gaolang and Kaneda just a few hours ago." as she admitted that, she saw how Ohma tried to grab her, but instead, she placed her palm on his own, sliding it so that she could get him in an Aikido grab, before she performed Hatsumi's famous Gathering Clouds: Triple Strike on his face. Even though it was nowhere near his level, followed by a punch to his temple, it did the trick. For a split second, Ohma thought he lost consciousness, and with an uppercut to the chin, he was sent on the ground... But that was her weakness. She didn't know wrestling, grappling, tackling or anything closer. Once the opponent was on the ground, she couldn't do what Agito or Cosmo did and wrestle and grapple on the ground, fighting for dominance. She couldn't suffocate anyone. If she couldn't knock the opponent with her strikes and tricks, then she couldn't follow with anything. Even if she mounted him, like Naoya did with Agito, or Cosmo with Adam, but her weight was a feather compared to theirs. Grappling someone 30 kilograms or more heavier than her would be an instant flying away to the other part of the arena. "Why didn't you follow?" Ohma asked, getting up. "I don't know how to. I know what to do all the way until the opponent is on the ground. After that, I haven't come up with a smart way to keeping them there." she admitted. "I see. Now that I've got a hang of your moves, I know how to counter them. You're pretty unpredictable, that's good, especially for someone who's never seen you fight. Let's go." once again, Ohma lunged and was ready to punch the girl's stomach. She was unable to side step or block because of his speed and strength, so she tried to redirect the hit my pushing on his forearm. Though it did work, Ohma already knew that she would do it - It was him who taught her how to use the Redirection Kata, after all - It was Ohma who actually controlled the flow of the battle and turning her to the side, he grabbed her other arm and slammed her to the ground before mounting her.  "Shit, this is scary as hell-" she's been in this position before, and she hated it. She hated it. She hated it so much. Though, she never had anyone actually hitting at her, the position was making her heart scream away with tension and anxiety. It might have been from the adrenaline of the fight, or the fact that Ohma was being rightfully rough and merciless with her, that this old fear of her re-emerged. But she had to fight through. It was Ohma and Ohma was the sweetest man in the world. She's been intimate with him, he'd never hurt her. He'd never. Get a grip, girl, you'll get killed in a fight if you act up like this. Get strong and fight. Fight. Fight.
She kept her guard up through all this, blocking all fights just like she saw Akoya blocking Haruo's blows - But then, she remembered the pelvic thrust that Agito did to get rid of Naoya. What did he do now... He planted his feet to the ground and kept his strength and balance on her upper back and scapula. She knew he had to do sort of a corkscrew turn to the side and get enough momentum - One, two three... UP!
"Nice try, but you're not that greased up asshole, though I'm surprised you were even capable of making me bounce a bit." he praised her, carefully taking her hands away and holding them to his face, a proud look visible. "Thanks for holding back on the punches. You'd have broken my radius and ulna bones." she sighed in relief. "I did promise I wouldn't hurt your pretty face, yes?" he chuckled, leaning down to steal a kiss. "Did you learn that by just watching that bastard's fight?" the girl nodded. "Impressive. If you were a built fighter, you'd have thrown me off. Good girl. You gave me a run for my money today." "What I did won't help you against Raian. All I do is tricks and hit and runs. He's pure strength. He's a beast. He's a monster. He's brawn and brains and 100% bloodlust. I'm... Really afraid that he'll drive you to the edge so much that you'll overuse even the Advance. I want to see you snap his neck like he did to Mokichi." she confessed, squeezing his hands dearly. "Have you forgotten where I spent my whole childhood? I've killed since before I even had a name. That guy is so fucked in the head, I won't have any problem surviving and winning." Ohma chuckled at her. "Let's go again." "Before that - Tonight I'm going to a party. It's club-like, not fancy like before. I know you're not fond of loud music and dancing and all that... But I'm still asking you." Kisara asked as she was helped up an she rubbed her aching spine. "Go have fun. I'll train and sleep in the meantime. Lucky you, the tournament starts around noon, so you can sleep in." he ruffled her hair before stepping away and getting into a stance. "Okay. Let's go. No more mounting, please, that's an instant kill on me." he nodded, and on the count to three, they started sparring again. Though Ohma was dominating as always, Kisara still put a hell of a fight and by the time the moon was beginning to go down, the red head stopped sparring and went to get ready for the party.
She called up all of her friends and got together in the club-like room. Of course, Cosmo, who never went to a club before, was the most excited to party,, though Akira was just as enthusiastic as he was to have a good drink and have fun. Wakatsuki and Hatsumi were at the table, and while Takeshi didn't drink alcohol that night, Hatsumi was really having fun and flirting around with girls all over.
Loud music, smoke, lots of fun, great songs, blinding, colourful lights, neon paint splattered all over and lots of sexy people dancing and having the time of their life on the dancefloor. Though Kisara wasn't a frequent club client, she always enjoyed her time there, if the music was good and the company was fire - And they definitely were now. Chocolate shots, fruity cocktails, lots of snacks and the whole night was spent like this. Though most of the fighters chose a reasonable hour to go sleep, considering they had to be fresh for their next fight, those who were already out, and some CEOs like Akira didn't leave, as the surfer dude said, 'I couldn't let a beautiful lady all by herself in a club', but really, he just wanted to have more fun, considering the stress this whole competition was putting on him.
By the time 5 AM struck and the Sun was beginning to rise, Akira and Kisara took a barefoot stroll by the shore, letting their feet dip in the water. Though none of them was anywhere close to wasted, they were still a bit sleepy, running on the fun and euphoria from the party. "I had lots of fun. Maybe we can do that tomorrow night too, as celebration for going to the next round." "You've got lots of confidence, don't you?" Akira chuckled at her. "Yeah, I agree. I'm sure Cosmo will win tomorrow. I want to celebrate that." "See~! Of course you've got confidence in your lil' bro. He deserves all that confidence. He's super cool, and he's so young. As his age I was too afraid to go order a coffee from Starbucks." the girl chuckled lightly, looking up at the brightly twinkling stars. The breeze of air was blowing through her fluttering summer dress and her long, now very messy crimson hair. "You? Really? Ha! Wouldn't have guessed." the man teased her, watching her carefree grin as she nodded. "Oh, yeah, totally. Just around the time we first met. I guess you always ordered for all of us when we went out, so you didn't notice, but I was so awkward. I mean, I still am, but not to that degree at least." she started stretching her limbs a bit, enjoying the cool water going up her shins. "You're funny, Red. It's fine, it happens. People are just different, but you grew out of it. You're strong and you fought your fears. But you know what? You totally trip me whenever you make me chase you around. I don't get how you do it, but you always trick me." he laughed, patting her back. "Have you forgotten, Akira? 'Tsuki-san called me a 'Kitsune'. I took that to heart and perfected my tricky skills. I'm just cool like that. I'd like to see you do better, surfer dude." she flicked his forehead, walking towards her lodging. "Do better, she says! What, you think you're cooler than me?" he mocked indignation, only to see her grin wickedly, as if she was a devious fox. "Hella." she sniggered, rushing her speed walk. "Apologise, you little vixen!" she shook her head and started running - Him, after her. "Red, apologise! Admit I'm cooler than you!" "Never~!" he might have been a tennis player and knew some martial arts, but in speed, he couldn't top her, so it was easy to fool around with him, diving under his arm, tripping him and what not.  "See! That's what I'm talking about, you sneaky little fox!" he must have danced far too much, for he stopped and put his hands on his knees, panting. "I win~" and with that, Kisara booped his nose shamelessly. "You're impossible. I can't keep up with you. Good night, Red." he laughed breathlessly, walking away towards his residence as the girl quickly disappeared inside her own temporary home, making sure she doesn't wake anyone up.
As usual, she took a quick shower and changed into one of Ohma's weirdly comfortable Tshirts that are perfectly large on her, like her nightgowns are. Careful not to make noises, she got in bed next to her man and raising his heavy arm so it would stay over her, she cuddled into his side and let out a sigh of content, only to hear a low chuckle. "You slob. People usually wake up at this hour to work. You go sleep after a night of fun. You're incorrigible." even so, he shifted and pulled her closer to chest, resting his chin on the top of her head. "Just living the life, babe. Livin' la vida loca."

give me your important toji and yuta and megumi headcanons :3c
you mean, in general ? or like how they'd all interact together ? or are we talking Boy Who Leapt Through Time AU specifically ?
well i guess i can do all three
.
let’s start with individual hcs !
Toji
he’s bisexual and demiromantic. the only person he’s ever been in love with has been his first wife, Megumi’s mom, in part because she was the only person at the time to treat him like a normal guy
the reason he married Tsumiki’s mom is more complicated. on the one hand, Megumi and Tsumiki got along well, and Toji thought it would be good for Megumi to spend time with like, someone his age. on the other, Toji didn’t trust himself to take care of Megumi, and thought marrying again would be a sort of insurance in case he died... or decided not to go home
the reason he never made the Zen’in clan pay for the way they treated him, and the reason he sort of trusted them with Megumi is that he has completely internalized the abuse he went through as something that was justified
his self-esteem is at rock bottom. he’s just really good at hiding it by behaving like a fucking asshole
might just have a breakdown if someone pays him a genuine compliment
he fucks around a lot for a few reasons : easy money, easy way to get a roof on his head, he likes it and likes making his partner(s) feel good, he tries to compensate his need for emotional intimacy with physical intimacy (it doesn’t work)
Yuuta
bisexual and aromantic. he tells people Rika’s the only one for him because for some reason, people are more eager to believe he can’t get over a childhood crush than to understand he just. doesn’t get romantic love
he’s build like a stick, and no matter how much he tries, cannot manage to build any muscle mass. he wishes at least had some more pecs.....
i refuse to believe the whole point of vol. 0 (overcoming grief, moving on from past mistakes, letting Rika-chan fucking rest in peace) would be undercut so stupidly by Gege, so the current “Rika” is not in fact cursed energy left behind by Rika-chan and uh, the power of love ? it’s just a copy Yuuta made with his technique. i will not be taking criticism
because of how socially isolated he used to be, his only idea of what real teens his age do comes from like, dramas and manga, and the random bits of conversation he would hear in the classroom
the first time he went out to a café with the other 2nd years, he cried for a good 20 minutes
Megumi
demi without a strong preference for any gender. has trouble understanding other people’s conceptions of romance and sexuality, especially people who date/fuck without strong ties to each other
the type to idealize the people he likes (who aren’t Gojo), only to be disappointed when they turn out to be, you know, people. with good sides and bad sides and sides that just don’t sit well with specific people
Tsumiki taught him how to cook. he doesn’t do it often these days, but he finds it relaxing
depending on my mood, i sometimes go with the idea that he has a puppy crush on Yuuta. he’s taking that secret to his grave, though
.
now for interactions not related to the above-mentioned AU !
obviously we know Megumi admires and respects Yuuta a great deal, and i like to think Yuuta’s the kind of guy who really wants to make his kouhais proud. so we have “Okkotsu-senpai can do nothing wrong” on one side, and on the other we have Yuuta trying to show off and keep up with Megumi’s expectations. it’s a whole mess, but it’s a funny one to watch for the other 2nd years
they have betting pools on what they can convince Yuuta to do to show off to Megumi, and also on what will finally make Megumi realize Yuuta is just as stupid as the rest of them, just in a different way
now, if we were to put Toji in there, as Megumi’s very much alive deadbeat dad....
i mean. it would be a disaster. a very entertaining one, but a disaster nonetheless. Megumi would do his best to keep Toji away from Yuuta so #1 Shitty Dad can’t embarrass him in front of his cool senpai. Toji would do his best to do just that, in whichever way is funniest to him (so either by flirting with Yuuta or by revealing Megumi’s baby photos. maybe even both)
meanwhile Yuuta would just be like “huh i wonder who the hot guy Fushiguro-kun just shoved out the window was”. and then Toji would open his mouth and Yuuta would go “oh he’s an asshole ok”. he Would take Megumi’s defense if Toji’s being too shitty, though. senpai instincts
unfortunately for everyone though, Yuuta is also a very genuinely kind soul, which is exactly what can break through the walls and layers of dysfunctional coping mechanism Toji built after the death of his first wife (and also after the abuse he suffered at the hands of the Zen’in clan)
what i’m saying is that Yuuta just stands there obliviously as Megumi tries to murder Toji, who is now seriously trying to get closer to Yuuta and just like, become friends ? maybe ??
oh yeah also Toji calls himself a monkey one time in front of Yuuta, and Yuuta just straight up goes “you will treat yourself (and others like you, such as Maki) with respect or i will punt you into the sun” and Toji’s just like. “oh.”
.
and now for The Boy Who Leapt Through Time AU !!
obviously Yuuta has latched onto the kids and sworn to protect them. on the one hand, of course, it’s painful to look at them and remember the people he knew and lost, and the time he spends with them keeps on twisting the knife of his trauma. on the other, he refuses to make his own issues something other people have to worry about, and part of what protecting the kids means to him, is hiding his pain from them
he will do anything for their sake. anything
Toji’s relationship with Megumi at that time is pretty complex. Toji’s at his lowest point by then, and while he does love Megumi and wants the best for him, he’s also very aware that like. he fucking sucks as a parent. and there’s probably a part of him that resents having a kid, because life would be easier if Megumi wasn’t around. if Tsumiki hadn’t called him, there’s honestly a good chance he wouldn’t have gone home at all that day
and of course, he doesn’t believe a “monkey” such as him could ever be the right person to raise a sorcerer
anyway it’s complicated. the way Tsumiki talked to him on the phone, it made Toji believe he was needed, and that’s why he came back (also because his wife bailed). but then the small fight over juice made Megumi spill out all of his grievances to Toji, because he’s a child and he needs his dad and Toji has been pretty awful at being there for him up until now, and now Toji thinks he was wrong and actually Megumi would be better off without him
they both suffer from “i will die if i tell my loved ones i care about them” disease, and it sucks. but also one of them is fucking 4 years old and deserves some slack on that front
on the Toji and Yuuta front... Yuuta’s first thoughts about Toji were that he is dangerous, and also a jackass. but also Yuuta is thankful to Toji for picking him up and more or less saving his life (because seriously, who knows what the College would do with a Special Grade who says he comes from the future and has fucking unreal levels of cursed energy)
anyway he has now realized that Toji has some Fucken Issues, some of which he recognizes from personal experience. like, the low self-esteem, the isolation, the disbelief at anyone being nice to him ? yeah Yuuta, who was haunted by Rika-chan for 6 years, and was also bullied, is familiar with that
so of course he wants to help, as a way to thank Toji, and for the kids’ sake. especially Megumi’s, since he’s seen what abandonment issues have done to the Megumi he knew. he doesn’t really know how to go about it, though
Toji doesn’t really know what to make of Yuuta. he’s a sorcerer, and stupidly strong at that, but he acts... weak. right up until he doesn’t. he’s also scary good at lying and smiling in front of the kids, right up until he can be on his own to have a breakdown. he also thanked Toji for something Toji did mostly for his own sake, and it’s... Toji doesn’t know what to make of that either
well, they only really met like today, so. they’re gonna figure each other out and what to do about their situation eventually, for better or worse

Ninja Daily: Vapors 41
"Hatake, put down that damn book and pay attention for once in your life, or I'm going to leave you in the dark."
He glared a little, but obediently tucked Icha Icha Madness away safely.
Tsunade rolled her eyes and sighed, momentarily considering the intelligence of trusting this smartass with anything. But it was his kid.
"Uzumaki, you're clear to tell Hatake what I classified earlier. Usage is now at his discretion."
Aiko nodded, but Hatake and Yamato gave her sharp looks. She cringed a little.
"You will be taking two genin corps teams as backup so that we're sending a respectable force. I expect you three to keep an eye on them."
"Genin," Yamato asked disbelievingly. Tsunade gave him a dirty look.
"Yes, genin. We're a bit understaffed. Besides, they're just needed to supplement Wind's border guard and allow their Chuunin relief. As is, they're three men short for a full watch at the area of the incidents. You'll be dealing with the actual excursions, along with three teams from Sand and three from Mist."
Kakashi sniggered at the snub. Ostensibly, by sending three teams, Konoha was contributing just as much as her allies. But the rank disparity would almost certainly piss people off. Tsunade pretended to look innocent about the implicit claim that Konoha's genin were equal to Sand's Chuunin and that a three man team from Konoha was as good as nine people from Sand or Mist.
The only one in the office who might possibly have bought her innocent expression was Tonton.
'Kami, it's a good thing that Gaara has been working on his temper. I bet Terumi Mei is hopping mad, though.'
The Hokage cleared her throat. "The Border stretch in question is the one that runs along Bird Country." She rolled her eyes a little. "Ten guesses as to which country probably let Sound get there unhindered from Grass," she said dryly.
'And if we guess 'Rain', she'll probably hit us.' Aiko pressed her lips together to avoid an inappropriate smile. It really wasn't funny that Earth appeared to have let Sound pass their borders unhindered at least twice. Of course they had plausible deniability, but it seemed pretty plain to see that the Tsuchikage didn't mind letting someone else take a swing at Sand.
That meant that even if he wasn't actually planning to go to war with the Leaf-Sand-Mist alliance, he didn't wish them well either.
'Actually, Rock and Lightning might feel threatened by a three country alliance,' Aiko realized. 'I would, if it were me. It looks like we're militarizing, even if we don't actually plan to start anything.'
"You'll be reporting here, and the time your team is expected to report is on your mission file, along with all other relevant information. Meet the two genin teams downstairs, they should be in the second waiting room. Any questions?"
No one had any, so they got the hell out and met the genin teams.
"Aiko-senpai!"
Akira caught her in a hug around the waist, digging her pony-tailed little head onto her chest. Aiko stiffened, not exactly certain as to what she should be doing. Usually only Naruto gave her surprise hugs. Her standard procedure for that was to let him do what he wanted and maybe pat his back a little.
'I didn't think the ducklings liked me that much…'
Luckily, the other two ducklings and the three older genin corps members in the room were much more reserved. Ken gave a little wave, and Emiko gave a polite nod. Once she'd finally pried off Akira and exchanged greetings with the genin she knew, the other team introduced themselves. It happened to be an all male team, with a much wider age group than the other genin group. The youngest looked to be about thirteen, but the other two had to be between sixteen and nineteen or so.
"Yamato, teams 2 and 3." Everyone jumped at the sudden serious tone of command from Kakashi, who was in charge of all the squads. "Go to the gate to await departure. Aiko, I want to talk to you at training ground 7."
She fingered the kunai in her pocket nervously as she followed her shishou, trying not to look too nervous. Tsunade had 'allowed' (read: ordered) Aiko to practice and demonstrate the Hiraishin on her private grounds. In retrospect, that was probably so that she knew whether or not it was wise to clue in her commanding officer that the technique was at his disposal when she sent them into the field. But it had never even occurred to the otherwise-thorough Tsunade to ask if Aiko could do anything other than what she thought of as the 'standard' Hiraishin.
And why should it have? Aiko hadn't actually really made modifications to the seal, per say. Her triangulation was only a different way of thinking about the Hiraishin, not an actual modification. Minato (and probably the Hokage who had invented it) had been able to appear in slightly different locations to their seals as needed, so their seals hadn't really been that different.
Really, her idea said more about her relative laziness than any actual flaw in the technique. Why throw the seal again and again when she could use three stationary ones for a similar purpose?
When she'd had time to think after the tongue-lashing/impromptu career advisory session that Tsunade had given her, Aiko had realized that her modified idea should be kept close to the vest. If everyone would assume they knew the weakness of her technique (that she had to appear next to the seals, which was why Rock had always tried to steal Minato's kunai) then they wouldn't actually be making plans that took advantage of her real weaknesses, which were more along the lines of her repeated inability to transport more than twenty times without getting a nosebleed. That was a generally good sign that her regular cognitive function would be deteriorating as well, due to low oxygen levels.
'At least,' she amended, 'I hope that will keep anyone from finding out about my real problems until I can mitigate them.'
To that end, she had affixed seals to four kunai. Enough that she could set up an array if she needed to, but also few enough to convince a casual viewer that there was no reason to assume she'd done anything different if she just used the 'standard' Hiraishin.
It smacked of lying when she thought about keeping the information from Kakashi, one of the few people she really trusted. Then again, it wasn't like she'd ever been completely honest with another person in her living memory, and it would be hard to explain her apparently revolutionary idea without hinting at her extra, unexplainable knowledge. She'd tentatively decided to tell him about the modification with the weak explanation that it had just occurred to her, but only after she knew how he'd react to finding out that she'd been experimenting and hadn't told him. He'd respect that Tsunade had classified the information. That was what being in the chain of command meant, after all. But he wouldn't be happy about having been out of the loop in the first place.
He stopped first, and turned to face her. For once, she couldn't read his expression.
That was a little unnerving. She had learned to read what was really going on under that mask a long time ago. The only time it could really keep his thoughts (or reactions, at least) from her was if he was intentionally stilling his face.
That made this a conversation between a commander and his subordinate, not Kakashi-shishou and Aiko. She straightened accordingly and met his gaze levelly.
"What did the Hokage refer to as classified information?"
Aiko closed her eyes to steel her nerves, and slipped her left hand into her kunai pouch where the special kunai were being kept. He had no doubt noticed the extra weaponry. She opened her eyes as she flung it to the left, and flipped positions to catch it just before the tip touched a tree trunk… without moving her unbent legs or turning her face. She turned to face him again, somewhat comforted by the extra distance. "That. When I was with Jiraiya, he gave me notes from a former student. I found his explanations and analyses of his process with the Hiraishin… so I deconstructed it and made my own adaption."
'Well, the mask isn't doing much good right now,' she noted with black humor. He looked shocked, an expression she'd never seen written so clearly before in his dropped jaw, raised eyebrow, and wide eye.
Weakly, he cleared his throat. "And you took this to Tsunade?"
She winced. Aiko had hoped he would forget that detail. "Ah, no. She found out when I got slightly overexcited with my first try and ended up with minor injuries. She classified it immediately, had me show her my seal, and then had me practice under her supervision."
"Minor injuries?"
"A nose bleed and a burst blood vessel in my eye from rapid changes in pressure."
Well, sort of, anyway. That was easier to explain.
He didn't even look like he was seeing her. Kakashi didn't look upset so much as nostalgic and mildly blindsided.
Aiko started to feel a bit irritated. Shouldn't he say something? Be mad or proud or something, not just stare over her shoulder?
As if he'd heard her thoughts, he gave a fake eye-smile. "I suppose this coincided with your decision to ask Gai for extra training? You know, you could have talked to me if you felt I wasn't giving you enough to do."
She flushed red. "That's not it!" Aiko cleared her throat and started again, more calmly. "That's not what I meant. I mean, Tsunade told me I wasn't allowed to use it because I'm not strong enough to deal with everyone who hates the Hiraishin. I was supposed to ask you for a more powerful attack when you got back, but then you taught me summoning right away."
The smile that followed was reflexive and natural. She loved the dogs, even though she didn't know most of them very well yet. Pakkun had even introduced her to a 'puppy' (puppy her ass, that dog was almost as big as Aiko) who needed a summoner and they were in the meet-and-greet stage.
"I see." Now he sounded proud, and a little amused. "Do you have the Hiraishin mastered, then?"
Aiko shrugged. "I have it pretty well under hand, but 'mastered' would be a strong word. The more I use it at once, the less precise I am.'
He cracked a smile. "That's amazing, Aiko-chan. You should have asked me. Maybe it's time for you to learn Rasengan. Your brother has it, after all."
She stared, the smile slipping off her face. Kakashi frowned at her, sensing the change in attitude.
"Why do you always do that," she blurted out, unthinkingly.
The far away gaze she'd noted a million times was gone, but she hadn't forgotten it. "Is something wrong?"
'This is a conversation I never wanted to have with you, that's what's wrong.'
Aiko took a deep breath. "I don't want to learn Rasengan."
He was very still, for a moment. Then he moved closer, as if trying to understand her. "Why not?"
"I don't think we should have this conversation." Aiko swallowed, hard, pushing back the words that she knew weren't a good idea to speak aloud.
"Aiko. Why don't you want to learn the Rasengan?"
'I can't say no to that face,' she thought miserably. And the words came out, hot and heavy with all the weight of the years where she'd never hinted at the thoughts she was expressing. "Shishou, sometimes you look at me like you don't even see me. You're seeing Minato or Kushina or some half-assed amalgamation of the two. I'm not either of my parents. That's why you pushed the chakra chains so much, right? Because Kushina was good at them. Well, I'm not nearly that good and I never will be," she added fiercely. 'I don't even want to be. I'm Aiko damnit, not Kushina.'
He was pale, but she was on a roll. "And I know that's why Jiraiya gave me those notes," she added quickly, letting something strange slip into her tone. "That's why he taught Naruto Rasengan. He thinks we're them too, not us."
"Who told you about your parents? I wasn't allowed to." His voice was quiet, and painfully devoid of inflection or tone.
And ohhh boy, wasn't that a loaded question?
"No one. Tsunade was going to tell me earlier, though. But I'm not stupid, you know. I don't know how anyone expected us to see the pictures in our textbooks and not see that Naruto looked exactly like the Fourth Hokage and we 'just happen' to have the last name of the one other S-class war hero from the last war." She didn't even try to hide the irritation. "The one who was famous for using chakra chains, which you were insistent I could learn." She leveled him with an unimpressed look. "It'd be almost harder not to figure it out if you have even the slightest interest."
Kakashi gave an odd chuckle, as if he didn't know what to think. "Sensei's in your textbooks? So it wasn't the hundred meter monument that clued you in, huh?"
"That's an awful likeness," she muttered. "Whoever made it shouldn't quit his day job."
He made a choking sound, twitching slightly. His head shook slightly, and he let his hand cradle his cheekbone, fingers splaying out over his eyes. The end result was that he looked like he had a massive headache.
"Right," he finally muttered, letting his hand slide up to his forehead and further up to ruffle at his hair. "I get it, adults are stupid. I held similar sentiments at one point. What does that have to do with not wanting to learn Rasengan? It's a very powerful move, and Naruto learned it in record time. It's your legacy."
"Well, I'm not Naruto either," she snapped irritably. He looked a little unnerved by the uncharacteristic temper, leaning back slightly. It was clear he was uncomfortable. She'd known he had no stomach for emotions, and that logic was the way to get through to him. If she wanted Kakashi to take her seriously, she had to remain as calm as possible. But at this point she was on a roll. She'd told him exactly why she didn't want to learn it and he just didn't want to understand. Shishou was far too intelligent to not understand the concept. It just wasn't that hard.
These were thoughts she'd had for years, but never expressed. They were practically heretical in the post-Kyuubi konoha, and wouldn't have made life any easier for Naruto.
But Uzumaki Kushina and Namekaze Minato weren't her parents. She didn't have parents, and didn't really think Naruto did either. If he wasn't desperate for parental affection, he'd probably come to the same conclusion.
What kind of parent died for their village when they had two infant children?
Her voice was cold. "I'm sick of you looking at me and seeing dead people, Kakashi." He recoiled as if struck. "Because that's what they are. Dead people that I never knew, who were never any sort of parents to me." She laughed bitterly. "They aren't anyone's parents. I'm more Naruto's parent than either of them. I raised him." She placed her hand on her chest and let it make a fist convulsively. "A good shinobi dies for their village. A good parent would have lived for their kid."
She turned away, courage failing. The words had been bottled up for fourteen years. This hadn't been the time to share them.
"It's like I don't know you," he said finally, quietly. Aiko screwed her eyes shut, breaths shuddering.
That had been an outcome she was afraid of. Kakashi had never liked her on her own merits. He'd only wanted her as a student because he looked at her and thought of Minato. She'd never considered either of those people her parents. She was an adult and she didn't need parents. Maybe she could acknowledge them as family in the same sense that Karin was, someone who she might like on a personal level if she got the chance, but that wasn't a parent.
Her hand clenched around her thigh, and she kept her voice carefully calm. It still broke a little. "Maybe it's not fair to them, but they're my feelings and I'm allowed to have them."
There was a moment of stillness, like a breath. Then the training ground was silent, and she knew she was alone. Aiko opened her eyes, took a calming breath as she roughly rubbed at her eyes, and made her way to the gate.
When she made it, all she saw of Kakashi was his back before he silently took off. Yamato gave her a distinctly baffled look that she answered with a glare. 'Mind your own damn business,' she thought fiercely. He was smart enough not to even try a conversation. The pace was brutal, and soon the genin were struggling.
Yamato carefully didn't look at either of his teammates. 'My tactical assessment is that something weird has happened.' He'd never seen Kakashi-shishou and Aiko so obviously on the outs with each other. He wasn't going to touch that situation with a ten-foot wooden pole, in no small part because Aiko would ask him if he was compensating for something. She looked to be in a mean mood.
Aiko had no idea what the second team of genin was named, and didn't even care enough to feel guilty about it. The trip proved that none of them were very interesting. Aside from Akira's easily rebuffed attempts to ingratiate herself with the upper level shinobi (Aiko had been relieved to find out that the girl had just wanted to snag herself an upper level sponsor, because that meant that she hadn't accidentally made a friend and then neglected her for months), everyone stayed in their own squads.
'Wind Country hasn't gotten any more pleasant,' she grouched internally as, over the course of a day of running, the trees got shorter and dirt turned to sand. Breathing in such dry air was an uncomfortable transition, and they had to stop twice to allow the younger teams to catch their breath and adjust to the dryness in their mouths. Without words, the senior nin stopped and set up camp for the night the third time that the genin couldn't go on. The second day of travel was just as painfully silent as the first. Even the genin eventually managed to shut their mouths and just concentrate on running.
Kakashi still didn't look at her.
Sand was pleased to see them show up. They were somewhat less pleased when the low level of the two younger teams became known (although annoyingly, they seemed to think Aiko was the third team member for the boys' team and that the tall one with the stupid hair was the Chuunin).
'I'm not that short,' she glowered. 'A year ago, I was the tall one, you stupid fucks.'
The teams separated, a team of Chuunin waving for them to wait and taking the genin with them to the wall. Aiko waited, dull-eyed and uninterested while Yamato fidgeted and Kakashi looked uncharacteristically professional. She only managed to drum up some interest when she realized she recognized all three members of the team that touched down in the clearing and stood to look at them.
Granted, she only knew of Baki in the vaguest sense. She might not have recognized him if Temari and Kankuro weren't on either side of him… and both giving her weird, assessing looks. She bared her teeth in response, not feeling up to taking anyone's shit today. Normally she'd fake nonchalance and deflect aggression around foreign nin to avoid getting into a fight. It was what she had done in past, when she first met them in Sand and they decided to act like jackasses for no reason. But today she was pissed off.
When they simultaneously paled and exchanged 'creeped-out' looks, she had to wonder if her scary face wasn't a little too scary.
(Temari grimaced, trying not to cringe. 'It looks like when Gaara tries to smile.'
'I was kind of expecting a tiger with lipstick,' Kankuro thought optimistically. 'By comparison, she seems very nice. Nicer than a girl that I thought Gaara would tolerate and take out for ice cream would be, anyway.')
Kakashi gave Aiko a sharp look, devoid of any of the usual affection. She huffed and turned away sullenly. So that's how it was. He provoked people all the time, and they'd started it anyways.
If the world had been a fair place, she would have been led to her room and allowed to go do her best to drown herself in the shower, maybe scream into pillow for a bit and write an angry poem. But it was a shitstorm of totally unfair suckiness designed to make even the worst of days worse, so that was when some shrieking harpy landed in the clearing, heralding what was probably the worst surprise attack in the history of ninja that hadn't been orchestrated by Naruto.
Yamato cut her down in an instant, looking almost surprised that he was the first one to move.
"That's just perfect," Aiko muttered, angrily yanking the sword on her back out of the hilt with an icy sliding sound that matched her bad mood nicely. Kankuro was moving to arm himself as well, his oversized doll flying off his back and leading the way into the trees. Baki overtook him in a breathless moment, hitting the next visible Sound ninja so hard he flew into a tree. Temari was waiting to slice him into pieces with a wind blade attack from her iron-tipped fan. The corpse collapsed, jaw falling open grotesquely and intestines spilling out, lung tissue splattering the ground and even onto Temari's front.
Kankuro just pouted and mumbled something bitter about them being glory hogs. As Temari actually took the time to stick her tongue out at her brother (completely disregarding the flesh sticking soppily to her kimono), the Konoha nin leapt into the fray. Honestly, what kind of surprise attack was staggered entire seconds apart?
The brutally short altercation that followed served to prove that the ninja they were facing were…
"Total incompetents," Temari growled, kicking a corpse irritably. "Most of them are no-name genin and shit like that from various villages, missing nin that no one cared about. I don't know what the hell Sound does, but they've all been genetically altered and sent out to fight." She sneered and wiped a bit of loose hair off of her face. "I don't know where Sound is getting all of them, though. They just keep coming."
"Seems like a waste of expensive resources," Yamato mused, mildly interested (and somehow managing to look like a mild-mannered librarian even through the blood spatter on his face). "Those genetic alterations can't be cheap. Why wouldn't they bother to give them at least basic tactical training?"
The six-man squad they'd fought… well, it hadn't been much of a squad. They fought like overpowered Academy students, with no sense of strategy or teamwork. She could see why the border Chuunin teams might have problems with them, but with a few Jounin to oppose them they were hopelessly outmatched.
"Please tell me you have showers at this base of yours," Aiko interjected, wishing she'd thought to pull up the mask attached to her shirt. 'God, I hate getting blood on my lips.' It was so hard not to lick them when she kept feeling them stick and crackle.
The look on Kankuro's face wasn't encouraging. She narrowed her eyes at him.
Omake- one that was actually requested!
Inoichi hummed cheerily in the way that his wife hated, tugging his hair into the standard ponytail. Then he stopped and frowned at his wrist, realizing that his black rubber band wasn't where it should be. He looked around the floor, but didn't spot it.
"That's strange..."
He shrugged and re-secured his left hand's grip on the ponytail, striding down the hallway and elbowing open his daughter's door. "Ino, honey, can I borrow a hair tie?"
She looked up from her spot on her bed, laying on her back with a book held above her face and leveled him with a thoroughly unimpressed look. "Dad, you've got to stop borrowing my hair stuff. I want my mousse back. But fine." she rolled her eyes in that 'teen girl' way and turned her attention back to her book. "You can have the lavender one on the dresser."
"Thanks, sweetheart." He snatched up the tie in question and wrapped it around his hair twice with a look of intense concentration that he caught in the mirror. He turned his head from side to side to appreciate the perfect way the hair fell, before his mind caught up with the thoroughly uncharacteristic detail that his daughter was reading a real book unprompted. It had been months since he'd last seen her with anything other than those terrible magazines that he'd gotten sick of and banned. ('120 ways to please your man indeed,' he thought vindictively. Not for his baby girl!)
"So, got a new book?"
She grunted distractedly. "I borrowed it from Aiko. It's really good, dad. You should read that one there, with the green cover. I finished it already." She curled them up and lifted one knee to cross her legs, letting her ankle swing idly.
"Oh?" He let an eyebrow raise. It was hard to believe his baby had much in common with the Uzumaki girl for reading tastes. From what Ino had told him (repeatedly and loudly at the dinner table) back when they were in the academy together, she was a straight-laced brainiac with very little humor or personality, but a general good nature.
Curious as to what Ino might have found so interesting, he bent to pick up the first book off the short stack beside her bed, and immediately noticed something odd. "This is a drugstore diary..."
'Ino, you're not reading the poor girl's journals, are you?' He gave her a suspicious glance, but she appeared more absorbed than amused.
"Yeah, she wrote them," Ino said distractedly a second later, turning a page and blinking over at him briefly.
He stilled. That was odd. Skeptically, he glanced down at the pile by his daughter's bed. It wasn't impossible, per say, that a fourteen year old with a full-time job could have written six books, but it did seem unlikely that they were any good. Inoichi fought a very short war with his skepticism, but his innately nosy nature won out and he flipped open the green book.
A page in, he sat down hard on Ino's pink chair and really began to concentrate. That was how his wife found them. She rolled her eyes. "Honestly, you two. Breakfast is cold and you're both late for work."
Ino shot up like a rocket, suddenly alarmed. "Oh crap!" She cringed away from the scolding that curse prompted but dashed around her room shoving gear into her little pouch and tugging up her own hair with a brush and some bobby pins.
"Ino, leave that book." She gave him an odd look.
"Dad, I'm not done with it."
He gave her a stern look. "You can finish it later. Don't tell your little friend I borrowed these, okay?"
There was no normal fourteen year old that wrote like this. 'Maybe that's why she was given to Hatake,' he hypothesized years too late. 'Weird, socially disinclined geniuses should stick together and all that.' Tsunade didn't seem to know about this. He'd gone to her strategy meetings with Shikaku before, and the Hokage brought up Naruto more often than she probably realized. It had been almost impossible for her total lack of knowledge about his sister to come up.
'At the very least, it'll provide an interesting read while I wait outside her office,' he thought smugly. 'And an excuse for being late to the office.'

So, my friend John—who, despite being my muse & all-around second brain when it comes to writing OPM fic and meta stuff—has been anime only until recently. A few weeks ago, he decided to binge read the whole thing in three days (mostly so he could support me in my hyper-fixation projects).
John started roughly around the time when the “Dr. Saitama” scene was retconned, so he was coming to me with a lot of questions/observations when I was reeling with a lot of Feels.
We’ve pretty much agreed to disagree on Garou’s character, although of course my opinion is the best one. Because my love language is benign mischief, one of our conversations took the form of Benevolent & Consensual Trolling. He started teasing me, and I couldn’t resist teasing him back, Godfather-style. >:)
At this point, John is up to the martial arts tournament so he still hadn’t reached any new material yet. But here on Team Manga + WC, we’re reeling with emotional whiplash and questioning everything we thought we knew about where the story was going.
Friend: oh my God, Garou is the absolute worst.
Me: We have known each other for many years, but this is the first time you’ve come to me about the manga for counsel or insight. I can’t remember you even mentioning the manga, even though you’ve had my Shonen Jump password for months. But let’s be frank here. You never wanted my opinion. And you feared to be spoiled.
Friend: he’s dumb and his point is dumb.
Me: I understand. You found paradise in the anime, you had a good laugh, you saw some good fight scenes. There were sales and the risk of leukemia was low-to-moderate.
Friend: …I… wait, what? Leukemia? Where did that suddenly come from?
Me: There was no radiation poisoning, and you didn’t need a friend like me. But now you come and you say “Ca-Chan Garou, why are you like this?” But you don’t ask with respect. You don’t offer me friendship. You don’t even think to read my blog posts. You come into my house on the day my blorbo’s character arc is to be retconned and you ask me to explain Garou’s character—without giving away spoilers!
Friend: His actions are erratic and confusing.
Me: That is not confusing, that is character development.
Friend: [[gives side-eye]]
Me: Look, you just have to keep reading the manga, okay? A lot of important stuff happens right after the shack scene, especially in terms of Garou’s character development.
Friend: I dunno... I’ve never read the manga for any of the shows I watch… I just worry it would spoil the anime.
Me: [[turns away in frustration]]
Friend: so… like… is Garou just crazy, or…?
Me: [[cold silence]]
Friend: I’ll take that as a yes, then. He’s just crazy.
Me: John-senpai, what have I ever done to make you treat me so disrespectfully? If you’d simply read the chapters I sent you, you’d be playing OPM-Bingo with us this very day. And if by chance an honest man like yourself misread a few manga panels, then your headcanons would become my headcanons. And then, we could be wrong together.
Friend: …you’re really gonna go out of your way to make this conversation weird, huh?
Me: I am incapable of making conversation that is un-weird.
Friend: Point.
Me: Some day, and that day may never come, I will call upon you to record a podfic with me. But until that day, consider this a gift because oh my god I have so many feelings about where this story is going and you’re the only one who understands me—
Me: [[proceeds to DM 10+ blog posts about Garou’s character arc whilst carefully cropping out spoilers]]
Again, he’s benevolently trolling me with my consent because I trust him, and, you know, riffing off of each other to write silly things is just how our brains work best. I wouldn’t entertain the same thing from other people. If this were coming from, say, an internet stranger, I probably would have asked a rhetorical question (“Can I lovingly ask why you come to me with this, when I’ve explained multiple times that this is my favorite character?”) and politely ended the conversation from there.

*Seeing your eyes flick down to his lips has him licking them in both nerves and earnestness. His grip on the train handle tightens to prevent himself from stealing a kiss right then and there. By gosh does he wanna feel your lips on his again*
*Your question about what he and Tanaka talked about has the urge settle down for a moment but, he gets flustered that he may have been misunderstood* “Ah! I asked him about training! For Tobio. And also cuz he was acting weird. Tanaka-kun is a personal trainer and senpai to Tobio so I thought that he could help me with trying to get the setter to open up while training. Sorry about the misunderstanding” *He clarifies while rubbing the back of his head sheepishly*
“Thoooough before we parted, he did say he’d kick my ass if I break your heart. I have no intentions of doing that, though. I’d like to cherish it if you let me” *His smile turning from embarrassed to affectionate has he adds on. You can see relief settle on his shoulder when you assure him that Daichi wouldn’t be so strict. He respects the former Karasuno captain and wants to at least get on good terms with your friends*
*Getting off the train wasn’t as bad as he thought; the crowd not as big nor frantic to descend.  His arm tingles when you cling to him, throwing a glance over at you to make sure you weren’t getting squished. He has you two wait a bit on the side to let everyone else get through before heading out of the exit and right in front of the park. It’s a pretty sight of blooming cherry blossoms, little picnics, and vendor stalls lining the main park path. He grins widely and looks at you again to see your reaction* “It’s got people, but it’s not as crowded as the main city park. They’ve even got lanterns for those who stay until dark. It's gonna look really pretty,”
Hajime Iwaizumi
Oooh! *I blush, embarrassed that I’d misunderstood him and assumed that he and Tanaka had been talking about me. Of course, they’d just had a chat about training and stuff. I supposed I should be grateful that he had something to bond over with one of my most protective friends.* Good luck with Tobio. He’s a bit socially awkward. You might get him to open up by bringing up Hinata though. Those two had a bit of a rivalry.
*I freeze for a moment when he talks about cherishing my heart. It was such a sweet thing to say and even though this was only our second date, I knew he meant it. He had shown how caring and attentive he could be, and I felt sure that he wouldn’t lie about something like that. Still, I wondered if I was looking too much into his words.*
*Before I can think more on it, he’s gently guiding me onto the platform, through the exit, and out of the station. I gasp when the park comes into view and I turn to him with a big smile.* This is perfect! Thank you. *I’m excited enough that I bounce a little on the balls of my feet, eager to walk through the park and see all the flowers and maybe get something from one of the food stalls.*
*My thoughts drift back to the train though and I realize I never replied.* Hey Zumi? I’d like the opportunity to cherish your heart too. And I’m more than willing to trust you with mine. I know you’ll take good care of it. I… want us to be together.

Random thought of the day: Yahaba is basically Iwaoi’s love child, like. He has Iwaizumi’s personality and Oikawa’s looks. AND he’s the next captain. No wonder Kyotani likes him, he’s basically his favourite senpai’s younger, angrier, prettier copy.

I know your not accepting request, but like I'm just gonna put it here anyways and maybe if your finished with the current ones this can be the first one in the next batch 👉👈.
Ike x Reader:
So you know how ike is very seiso right, Imagine reader is the epitome of the "Scary dog privileges" and imagine Luxiem meet up and Ike brings Reader who is kinda awkward on the back but intimidates the boys despite literally being the shortest among the group. (Imagine that cliche scene where theres an sunshine and rainbow character infront and there's someone intimidating in the back)
The Sweetest Thing Alive
pairing: Ike Eveland x GN!Reader
a/n: oh u little rebel~ be sure to wait for when reqs open when you want to send something in next time okay? an author can only handle so many at a time kjshjk tbh, this was super challenging to write but i hope u enjoy what i've come up for you anyway~
Tumblr media
you are sweet and kind, always looking out for your friends and family
you helped whenever they asked for help and they trust you a lot as a close comrade
but your face always betrayed this inner persona, so it’s often quite the opposite when it came to first impressions
except for ike
you were a senior staff at nijisanji en, a reliable one at that and always looking out for your niji co workers
because of aforementioned scary dog privileges and the seniority you hold at the company, there’s a reason why luxiem the newbies had to be a bit careful around you ╭( ๐_๐)╮
especially after hearing some rumors saying you were incredibly hard on people and generally is a big loner, not wanting to work with anyone that much
but then there was a huge project within nijisanji en that required all hands on deck, of course you as senior and responsible staff had to be involved along with luxiem with their growing success
on the first meeting, luxiem had all the more reason to literally be walking on egg shells around you
the scary dog privileges man( ⚆ _ ⚆ )
mysta is shaking under his desk, vox had to zip his unseiso mouth, luca losing all ability to say pog and shu having no such commentary
but ike was the only one who hadn’t been affected by your outside demeanor
in fact, though he had heard from his co workers how terrifying you were, ike was the first to see through those and admire you for your achievements as senior staff
out of all the senpais he had, you were the one he respected the most
you were responsible, reliable, skilled!
befitting of becoming senior eh?
POGGGG ଘ(੭*ˊᵕˋ)੭* ̀ˋ
continuation utc!
ike strives to be like you, which is why when he got to meet you for the first time, he wasn’t shaking under his desk, nor did he have the obligation to zip his mouth shut
i think it’s pretty obvious by now that ike is attracted to people he looks up to or someone who impresses him in a way
lowkey simp hello?
and when it came to projects directly in contact with you aye
ike really really got to see how you were in person
man was intimidated not because of the rumored scary dog privileges, more so again because of your seniority in the field
who was he a newbie in the face of you ;-;
“hello, y/n. it’s nice to meet you formally for the first time,” ike smiles through the camera
you nod, giving him a smile back
he fell right through for you
isn’t that right tho? the scarier one looks, the prettier their true colors are?
at least that’s what ike thinks when he first saw you smile so prettily 💙
“it’s nice to meet you too, ike. i’ll be in your care for this project,” you respond politely
“i-i’ll be in your care too! thank you!”
you were the senior how dare thou say that -`д´-
just kidding, ike liked you for it anyways
the entire time working on this project, there really was no reason for everyone to be so afraid of you
when the first project meeting with you was over, luxiem came back asking ike as though he just went through a death sentence
Mysta Rias [NIJISANJI EN]: DUDE HOW WAS IT
Shu Yamino [NIJISANJI EN]: yo were they as scary as they looked??
Vox Akuma [NIJISANJI EN]: i remember how i couldn’t even say anything the first time on a company call with them
Luca Kaneshiro [NIJISANJI EN]: they look so cold and mean...
Ike Eveland [NIJISANJI EN]: u guys are overreacting. they weren’t like that at all.
Ike Eveland [NIJISANJI EN]: they’re actually rly nice and polite. why are u so afraid of them?
Mysta Rias [NIJISANJI EN]: JVAUSHWI THEY HAD THE VIBES THEY COULD KILL IF SOMEONE JUST LOOKED THEIR WAY
Luca Kaneshiro [NIJISANJI EN]: i’m gonna have to agree with mysta
ike roll his eyes and doesn’t humor his friends anymore, instead logging off to rest for the day
that was how ike was the only exception and well
came to be how it is between you two now <3
you worked together so well, ike got to see even more of your good qualities and just how much he looks forward to working on projects with you more (even tho you’re staff)
ike is very comfortable with you is all and the workflow is just really nice to be around, especially since ike is the type to bury himself in his work so that meant seeing and consulting with you more
and the feeling was mutual!
obviously
ike was very responsible with time. he always loved to pitch in new ideas and made sure everything was right by asking the sufficient questions and specific details
ah, imagine the office romance with this man (´つヮ⊂)
just stay your caviar toast from the microwave okay buddy?
anyway
it was when ike finally got the courage to ask you out on a simple and totally not cliche coffee date to “work on something irl”
“hey, y/n, it’s nice to see you,” ike greets upon meeting you in the designated cafe, comfy, cozy and of course very cliche for first dates
“hey, ike,” you respond to him, taking a seat. “did you order already?”
“no, i just got here. i’ll order for you!” ike stands immediately before asking, “what would you like? i’ll pay, it’s fine.”
“oh come on now, i’ll pay too!”
he stops you with a soft smile, “it’s alright. i was the one who invited you here, it’s only right i treat you.”
with a sigh, you nod and inform him of your preferred drink
ike comes back, with his drink and yours before sitting down to start working again
and believe me when i say ike was so so tempted by your smell to hold your hand when it kept brushing his so many times
would he be doing this again with you in the future?
or will he potentially ruin everything you and him had?
… he was already here, best to do it now, right?
“hey, y/n?”
“hm?” you look up at him from your laptop, smiling. his heart skips a bit, one because of you and the other out of panic
just spit it out, ike. you can do it. like a bandaid, just rip it off.
“y/n, i really like you. a lot,” he doesn’t even look at you because of how messed up he was!
poor guy
“wh-what do you mean, ike?” you nervously laugh
well duh, your successful co worker of a friend just said he liked you.
of course you liked him
just with other 300k people on the internet as well bUT THATS BESIDES THE POINT(ノ ̄□ ̄)ノ ~┻━┻
so many people were even too scared to approach you sometimes, to have someone come up to you without doing any of that was nice for a change
and now you have the internet’s cutest streamer confessing to you
ike’s face is red, one you made sure was definitely not because of the heat or any other environmental factor for that matter
he takes a deep breath, “not just as a friend. i like you, as more than that. i feel comfortable around you. i want to be around you b-because you make me happy and feel like i can be myself around you.”
did he say too much? he probably said too much.
too much for you to handle, that is (♡´艸`)
to the people around you, it might’ve looked like a somewhat casual work conversation, but it mattered a great deal
the silence is uncomfortably long and just before ike decides to conclude his feelings aren’t reciprocated, you lightly brush your fingers over his with a pink face but smiling gratefully
“i feel the same, ike.”
and now, imagine ike relaying what happened that day to his luxiem friends
Luca Kaneshiro [NIJISANJI EN]: POG IKE AND Y/N
Vox Akuma [NIJISANJI EN]: that’s some manpower you have ike
Mysta Rias [NIJISANJI EN]: yeah dude who tf does that
Mysta Rias [NIJISANJI EN]: and y/n of all people?????
Shu Yamino [NIJISANJI EN]: no offense to u or y/n tho ike, but uh
Shu Yamino [NIJISANJI EN]: what do u see in them?
ike rolls his eyes behind the screen
Ike Eveland [NIJISANJI EN]: u guys are too prejudiced because of the rumors
Ike Eveland [NIJISANJI EN]: i’m telling u they’re actually really nice and sweet
Ike Eveland [NIJISANJI EN]: how about this, i’ll introduce u to them and u’ll see what i mean
and that was how he got here, with your hand in his waiting in a restaurant for vox, mysta, shu and luca
actually, not only were the luxiem boys nervous, you too were slightly anxious
“eh? why are you nervous?” ike asks you, bringing your sweating hand against his lips in an attempt to calm you down
you shake your head, “i know i kinda intimidate them, you know? i’m sure they’re all nice people but… yeah. i don’t want them to be uncomfortable…”
ah you kind and gentle soul :(
ike smiles, pulling you close to press a kiss to your temple for even more reassurance, “you have nothing to worry about. it’s their fault they choose to be scared first. but no matter what happens, i still think you’re the sweetest and kindest person i’ve ever met, y/n.”
when you pull away, vox is the first to arrive, followed by luca, shu and finally mysta
as ike suspected, luca and mysta seemed to be a bit more reserved at your presence but he’ll make sure there’s nothing to worry about
“y/n-senpai, good to meet you!” vox greets you first, and just like that, your scary dog privileges are stripped clean and all there is the person ike truly sees
you give the demon a bright and friendly smile, extending your hand, “hello, vox. there’s no need for you to call me senpai.”
vox chuckles, nodding. “duly noted.”
shu steps up next, seemingly more relaxed as he beamed politely, “hey, y/n. it’s nice to meet you!”
“hi, shu! i dropped by your last stream and you did good!”
at the compliment from his senior, shu laughs bashfully, a light pink to his cheeks. “th-thanks!”
ike turns to you, his heart beginning to ease into itself as he watches you acquaint yourself with his friends
nervous as you were earlier, you could handle things so well with them
onto the lion and fox (ง •̀_•́)ง
almost comically, mysta pushes luca ahead so that he’s forced to come face to face with you first
ike spares mysta a demonic glare, to which the detective cowers at
“h-hey, y/n. it’s so good to finally meet you in person like this!” luca brings a hand to the back of his head, grinning nervously.
you giggle, “it’s nice to see you in person as well, luca. i’m glad you could make it today. you must be busy being the leader of a syndicate.”
the blonde only shakes his head, “no, no. i could definitely make time. ike was really excited to introduce you to us and well, i didn’t want to turn that down, you know?”
“you’re such a good friend, luca!”
after that, luca finally lets himself loose upon seeing what ike meant when describing about you so fondly
“thanks! anything for my friends!” luca grins
at this, the effects have already spread to all of luxiem
vox and shu have settled in pretty well, luca finding himself a new deez nuts victim friend and even clown mysta finally sees no reason to be scared of you
he steps towards you on his own with a shy smile as he offers you his hand in greeting
“hey, y/n. it’s nice to see you,” mysta says
you beam in return, “of course, mysta. and i you. i didn’t scare you that much, did i?”
mysta is quick to turn red, his friends laughing at his foolery. “w-well, only at first!! i know you’re really cool though.”
“i’m just kidding, but i’m glad you think so.”
ike says to his four friends, “see what did i tell you guys? aren’t they the sweetest things alive? you guys really did overreact.”
vox sighs, “look we’re sorry okay?”
ike rolls his eyes, “you should be apologizing to y/n, don’t you think?”
“w-well, there’s no need for that, ike. really…”
ike: ༽◺_◿༼
luxiem: (゚Д゚;∬
you: (*^﹏^*)
no demons, sorcerers, mafia bosses or detectives were harmed during the process of this meeting, promise!
the entire night, it felt as though you had been friends for so long
vox’s rather unseiso mouth starts to break out again (getting quite the bonks from ike but you didn’t mind), mysta and luca are back to being their loud and eccentric selves and shu just joining right behind with his true memer soul
as you and ike took leave first, with him being a gentleman to take you home, luxiem can genuinely see how you make ike so happy
yeah, sure, they might’ve been wary of you at first but that was their fault, they realized
but now, while taking it slow, they can accept you into their family, especially if it meant making ike happy <3

y'know maybe coffee shop AU's aren't so bad
welcome to Rosebuds 2: Electric Boogaloo, in where Naoto (Sen) starts working as a barista in Ground Up cafe and many hijinks ensue.
(btw this is still Rosebuds i just like to jokingly call it a sequel hehe)
To be completely honest, i'm not that invested in mod characters, but i really like the idea of them living and interacting in the same city
I told myself that i couldn't expand more of Nao in the outside world because i KNEW i would fall back to the hellhole, but man, it's just really fun.
.
Like Garcello randomly showing up one night at the cafe and almost scaring Naoto to death. He tells Nao that this place brought him good memories and used to come here with a friend, her name is Annie, and he has already visited her, he just wanted to see how this place was doing.
Since then, Garcello starts visiting Naoto at least once a week, moving a chair or the tip jar to mess with Nao and let him know that he arrived. One night, Garcello brings that friend he always talked about, Nao welcomes them with a warm smile, inviting them to a cafe and a nice chat
.
Also, the Spooky Kids! Lila sometimes sends them to get her coffee, and in the meantime buy some desserts for themselves. While they're in the cafe, Skid and Pump tell Nao about their daily life and other adventures (some getting progressively weirder and making Nao extremely concerned).
Nao often sees them wearing their halloween costumes, however there are times when he sees them with normal clothes (mostly because they were obligated to)
Since they are regular "customers" Naoto excitedly anticipates their visit having their order ready to go, but seeing how they liked staying longer than expected (and how the coffee got cold after being here for so long), he stopped doing it and instead, if he had the chance, Nao prepared special desserts just for them! one time he baked them cookies with the shape of their respective halloween costumes and they were beyond thrilled, Skid and Pump loved it so much that they decided to never eat it (the cookies went stale :( )
After months of Skid and Pump frequenting the place, Lila stopped at the cafe to finally get to know and chat with the guy that her kid and his friend spent a lot of time with. With time, enough trust grew between them for Lila to ask Nao to look after them when she was busy (even though he was technically doing that already)
.
And a personal favorite: Cloud, who now has moved on from her fixation on Senpai Hating Simulator, stops at a cafe that she hasn't visited in a while before going to a friend's house, she enters, looks at the barista and realizes that he looks exactly like that one character she once had a crush on, she tries to act as normal as possible while silently losing her mind because of the uncanny similarities.
Meanwhile, Naoto has been worried that people might find out that he's a character from an old videogame. Steve tells him to not worry too much about it, seeing how there's much much weirder shit out there, either way, Nao tries to keep a low profile with people who are suspicious of him. When a pink haired girl arrives at the cafe and gets startled the moment she looks at him, Naoto internally panicks. Both of them try to keep their composure while he prepares her order.
After paying, Cloud comes out of the cafe with a frappe on her hand, a very awkward story to tell her friends, and the knowledge that she will never go back to that place again. and Nao stares at the nothingness, still trying to process this entire situation.
.
oh and yeah. that guy at the end is exactly who you think it is. i'm not even gonna try to hide the fact that i already made a storyline of how and why he arrived at the cafe, but i think i'm gonna keep that to myself LOL

what is utahime’s role in the future? — a prediction (manga spoilers)
part 1 (unedited)
I WAS ABOUT TO POST IT BUT I ACCIDENTALLY DELETED IT AND I WAS SO HURT FR!!!!! I HAD REWRITE THIS ENTIRE THING </33
part 2 is here!
in this post, i will be analyzing the information we’ve been given about utahime so far to form a prediction about her future role in the jujutsu kaisen series. if you’re as interested in utahime’s character as i am, please feel free to keep reading :3 (i’ll also be talking about her relationship with gojo a bit too)

soukatsu_ on twt!

utahime iori is a semi-grade 1 sorcerer working as a student supervisor/teacher at kyoto jujutsu high school. she loves drinking beer and going to karaoke. she’s also close friends with shoko and she’s not particularly fond of gojo most of the time. what else do we know about her?
hates sweets (funny she’s the complete opposite of gojo)
she’s great at singing and it’s a huge part of her technique
squabbling with gojo became a reflex :3
everyone absolutely adores utahime
loves watching soccer and baseball
a terrible drunk (worse than naobito zenin)
gojo is her main source of stress
let’s dive into her personality and abilities!
Tumblr media
chapter 65
before i get into it, i think it’d be best if i were to explain the timeline because a lot of people seem to be confused about this one particular thing. utahime is born on february 18th, 1987. contrary to popular belief, she is not 3 years older than gojo. it is november 2018 in the story because gojo was sealed on halloween. if gojo was born on december 7th, 1989, that would mean that right now, he is only 28 years old. he has yet to turn 29.
the year is 2007. gojo satoru is a second year at tokyo jujutsu high school. the japanese school year begins in april which suggests that gojo is only 17 at the time (even if it’s not april, it doesn’t look like winter yet so it’s unlikely that he’s already 18). utahime is 20 because it is past february. she is a 2nd grade sorcerer at the age of 20. that’s not bad at all!
chapter 65 introduces young utahime and mei on a mission together within a cursed site. in real time, they’ve been gone for two days which is a cause of concern for gojo, shoko, and geto because the two haven’t contacted anyone since the beginning of their mission.  the two begin to suspect something is wrong because the hallway markers they’ve set in place disappeared, and no matter how far they travel within the halls, the end is nowhere in sight.  mei theorizes that the cursed spirit is overlapping the space as they travel forward.  utahime agrees with this speculation and proposes a plan to escape the cursed spirit’s grasp by moving erratically.  notice how she says that if one of them should escape, they can try to attack from the outside or call for help.  if utahime was not capable of inflicting damage on anything then she would have told mei to escape and attack if she can while she waited to be rescued.  however, she didn’t.  she included herself in the sentence which leads me to believe that she is capable of going on the offense if needed.
keep in mind that at this point in time, mei is a grade 1 sorcerer.  she is knowledgeable about all things involving jujutsu because she is experienced and skillful.  we can see this aspect of her character illustrated when she theorizes that the cursed spirit is messing with the space they’re in.  she chooses to go with utahime’s plan because she agrees that it’s the best action moving forward.  this verifies that utahime is an intelligent girl that’s able to get along with pretty much anyone.
Tumblr media
her intellect is demonstrated once again in chapter 79.  she was able to deduce the possibility of there being more than one traitor and the fact that one is probably a higher up.  she also narrowed down the mechamaru as the mole of kyoto not because he was acting suspicious but by process of elimination.  she thought thoroughly of his technique and how easy it would be for him to manipulate devices small enough to be undetectable.
sure you can argue that she should already know all her students’ abilities and whatnot but you have to admit that it’s hard trying to sniff out the traitor when no one is acting suspicious.  in addition to that, how did she know that there was a traitor in the top brass?  i would have never guessed that tbh LOL (maybe bc im an idiot).
okay, now that we have established that she’s intelligent, let’s answer a more important question.  is utahime weak?
Tumblr media
chapter 33
if gojo calls utahime weak, does that mean there is some truth to it?  well it is true that she is weaker than him because he’s the strongest and all.  in my opinion, he’s just teasing her.  he probably found that calling her weak is what really riles her up.  maybe i’ll talk about why he loves teasing her so much in a later post.  but anyway, gojo calls everybody and their mom weak.  he even said jogo was weak and we know how powerful that guy is.  gojo’s words alone do not indicate much about utahime’s power.  in fact, i don’t even think he has seen her use her technique yet.  he’s probably only ever heard of how it works.  this is what i think their conversation about her technique was like:
gojo: hm?  ur cursed technique is singing?  can u show me?
utahime: what!  no way!
gojo: why not?
*one of the classmates tells him that she can only use her CT once in a while because it consumes a lot of energy*
gojo: hahaha!  u have to conserve cursed energy to use ur CT?  why are u so weak, utahime?
utahime: i!  am!  your!  senpai!  respect!  me!
what i’m trying to say is that gojo loves poking fun of people.  we should not believe him when he calls someone weak because compared to him, everyone is weak.
this is a little off topic but let’s examine him telling her, “and you don’t have the nerves, utahime.”  i think he’s trying to say that there’s no way she’ll ever do something like that because she’s not the type to put her students in danger.  remember the soft expression and relieved smile on her lips when she said that she was glad the students were safe after the kyoto incident?  gojo was directly in front of her so not only did he hear her say that, but he could have seen the look on her face too.  even if he told her that she didn’t have the guts to betray the school to get on her nerves, he knew that utahime simply cared too much about the students so he ruled her out as a suspect right away.  this is why he ultimately decided to confide in her and ask her to help him.
i’m a person who loves over-analyzing things.  i really enjoy the dynamic between gojo and utahime.  they’ve known each other for more than 11 years and although they always bicker, there is an unspoken feeling of trust between the two.  gojo can do anything and everything by himself because he is truly the strongest person alive, but he still knows when to rely on others.  him deciding to entrust utahime with such a job implies that he believes in utahime’s abilities.
Tumblr media
chapter 52
she’s not using any cursed energy here--not to our knowledge at least.  this is just pure skill.  she was able to swiftly evade the swing from haruta.  he was surprised himself considering the fact that he was right behind her.  how do we know her CT isn’t speed?  after haruta swung at her, we can see that some of her hair got cut off.  if she was using her CT then speed should be her specialty.  she should have been able to completely avoid the attack altogether but she didn’t.  of course this isn’t a wow moment because jujutsu sorcerers should know how to dodge attacks, however, i’m just trying to get the point across that she’s not a defenseless person without her technique or others.  let’s not forget that semi-grade 1 isn’t a weak rank either.  you can’t simply be recommended to be a grade 1 sorcerer if you only can support others.
Tumblr media
chapter 48
i want to bring up this panel. it suggests that utahime and takuma are sorcerers who have not experienced black flash and therefore, do not understand the essence of cursed energy as well as those who have like gojo and nanami.  i find it strange how takuma and utahime were used to represent sorcerers who haven’t experienced it yet.  is the purpose to demonstrate that there is a clear difference in skill between adult sorcerers like utahime and takuma compared to gojo and nanami?  i could be nitpicking but the order of todo’s statement doesn’t line up with the sorcerers being shown.  let me explain in depth.  todo starts off by saying, “for those who have experienced black flash as compared to those who have not...” wouldn’t it make more sense to show gojo and nanami on the right side to represent sorcerers who have experienced black flash?  that was mentioned first, after all.  gojo and nanami should appear when todo says “for those who have experience black flash” while utahime and takuma should be shown right after to personify the second part, “as compared to those who have not.”  i’m just making it more complicated than it actually is LOLOL i’m sure it really just means they haven’t experienced black flash yet, which is completely fine.  i also find it fascinating how they used utahime to contrast gojo.  with nanami and takuma it makes sense.  nanami is someone takuma looks up to, he wants to gain nanami’s approval before he deems himself worthy of a promotion. what about utahime and gojo?  what’s the purpose of comparing those two together when it’s obvious that gojo knows more about the essence of cursed energy more than anyone else?  i might be delusional whoops
----
let me know what you guys think?  this is only a part 1 so i haven’t gotten around to answering the question.  i’m pretty much done with the second part, i just need to revise it a little.  i think after i post part 2, i’ll try to interpret all the gojo and utahime moments in the manga >.<

Hi.
:D
You already know what's coming.
Gimme Daisuke and Sora (:
Byeeeeeeeee
Hehe, gotta stimulate my creative writing skills a bit here, just you wait. <3
Send me two names among the following 12 and I’ll write a short analysis post about them:
Taichi Yagami | Yamato Ishida | Sora Takenouchi | Koushirou Izumi | Mimi Tachikawa | Jyou Kidou | Takeru Takaishi | Hikari Yagami | Daisuke Motomiya | Miyako Inoue | Iori Hida | Ken Ichijouji
Tumblr media
Whether canon provides input on them or not:
As pointed out in the Iora analysis post before, Sora, unfortunately, doesn't get too many opportunities to bond with the 02 Chosen Children on her own, as her main focus point among them is obviously Miyako. So basically, we only have two instances to work with: First of all, when Taichi reveals that Daisuke turned out to be one of the new Chosen Children, Sora is among the first to react to the news, asking whether it's the same Daisuke they went together to football club with. So it is already established that they must have known each other before. Again, unfortunately, that's about everything we really get about them here, because we don't see them interact with or react to each other.
The second instance is the Revolmon/Starmon episode, in which the gang (minus Takeru and Hikari) travels to the Digital World to save Piyomon - again, it's mainly Sora and Miyako who interact with each other, but there are a few minor instances that at least hint at them being comfortable and trustful around each other. For example, when Sora suggests that they can't wait for Takeru and Hikari to join them and should travel to the Digital World right away, Daisuke agrees immediately - which is actually unusual for him, since he normally probably would have insisted on waiting for Hikari at least. So we can assume that it's important to him to help his senpai, whom he probably also looks up to from back in the day in football club. During the episode, they're framed next to each other very consistently, when drinking milk, when being held hostage, etc. and they also share some nice "annoyed faces" at their "enemy". Last but not least, we get the shot above - Daisuke and Raidramon got hit by an attack and fall to the ground, just to be caught by Miyako/Sora and Hawkmon/Piyomon respectively. Sora's protective nature is still intact as we can see - so while this is not a lot material, we can at least assume there is groundwork for a mutually protective bond between the two. Let's get to the creative writing part, shall we...
Whether I think why and how they’d work:
Again, while it is somewhat hard to tell how these two would interact in different scenarios, I'd like to think of them as having a lot of respect for one another - as pointed out, it seems plausible to me that he'd look up to her in a similar way as to Taichi, whom he always adored and admired, probably even aspired to be like him to some degree. Watching his two senpais being absolute aces, I couldn't see him arguing with Sora the same way he does with Jun or Miyako, but he may actually put her on a (tiny) pedestal (similarly to how he does it with Hikari, who, obviously, is also linked to Taichi). In turn, Sora may have quite the soft spot for Daisuke trying as hard as he does - especially because she should be able to empathize with his self-doubts of not feeling good enough. She's also familiar with guys who have big mouths - so she'd also know how to deal with him in case his emotions would get the best of him to keep him in check.
Which is actually something I could see him doing for her too - at least once they're a tad bit older, because during teenager years, it's sometimes difficult not to spout out things you probably didn't mean to. But thanks to his relationship with Ken, it's easy to see that he can see through other people's insecurities with utmost sincerity and openness once he knows someone well enough - or rather, WANTS to know them better. Sora is pretty closed off in terms of her own feelings and needs - we can see that the other guys have quite the hard time getting through to her, because they too, are closed off to some degree. So taking someone who slowly but steadily overcame his own self-doubts for the sake of his own happiness, Daisuke could actually be a great person to help her open up. Making her understand that going for her own dreams and wishes may be difficult at first glance, she may step on a few toes because of it, maybe even face consequences here and there - but it's not impossible. And if 02 taught us anything - Daisuke would always encourage others to strive for the life they want to live. He can be a bit naive at times and may not find the most... Sensitive words in each and every situation, but he goes for what he believes in and he's blunt about it. Which is exactly what Sora could need in order to get in touch with herself better.
Overall, these two are pretty passionate about the things and people they care about. They also have a certain hot-headedness about themselves as a result, they both can get angry if people don't value them accordingly, making them feel underestimated, so it is possible that they could clash here and there - but when I look at them, I could see a lot of softness too, if they manage to be open with one another. In the end, Daisuke is growing into his own person, he may be the heir of Courage and Friendship - but he is neither Taichi nor Yamato and maybe, just maybe, that could be a great romantic match for Sora as well.
I could see them being silly together, I could see him asking her for a little football match to cheer her up or for a round of ramen when she's stuck with her exhibitions. I could see her wanting to give him confidence boosts in return as well, helping with the decorations of his restaurant or she might even design his own restaurant brand of work clothes - and he, being also very similar to Mimi regarding his bluntness, would be absolutely in awe of everything she creates and be also very vocal about it.
Whether I’d prefer them as platonic or romantic ship:
Well, thanks to @dutchforstrangers, one could say that these two may or may not be a little bit of guilty pleasure, hehe. Granted, I'll always live for Taiora and Daiken going to football matches together as a double date - but based on everything I've talked about above, I cannot deny that the perceived respect I can potentially sense between Daisuke and Sora is something that can be pretty intriguing. Because canon didn't give us a lot to work with, we gotta make it work in other ways, right? I know I keep mentioning how characters "can be good" for one another, especially those with underlying self-worth issues... But all these characters are very dear to my heart and have a lot of potential... So whether you see this as being Daisuke just looking up to his senpai and Sora respecting him, or them ending up in a mutually supportive and honest romantic relationship - feel free to come to us to talk about it. ;)
