#neopets #neoart #kiko #slorg #lulu #aquanutart #sorry to repost this! i really wanted to tell the story but i was kind of nervous to mention the bc (this is NOT in any current contest!) #so this is a little picture i made last year now that she is pink! #when i was 11-ish i used to enter her in the beauty contest with tiny pixel scribbles #in some of them she was pink and wearing a hairbow (although there were no wearables back then) #the filesize limit back then was something like 19kb so i shrank them down to like 150x150px #(i didn't know any other way to reduce the filesize) i was too young to use the boards and didn't do any advertising at all #i would check back excitedly every week and be disappointed to not get a trophy but then make a very similar scribble and enter again #finally one time she won a third place trophy because i think only three kikos were entered that week #i felt complete after that #it was always her dream to be pink and show people her slorg #so last year after all this time i entered again because i realized it gives me motivation to draw my own pets #that i otherwise don't really draw and i felt kind of sad people don't really know them #i don't like competition so i decided i was just going to treat it as a chill social event and not bother trying to win #just treat it as the way of posting or sharing content on the site itself #it was fun and social! as someone who's pretty reclusive it was fun feeling like i was getting to know other pets #everyone was super nice and the supportive community feeling between artists was really fun! love getting excited about each other's work!! #since then i've entered a few more times and i have mixed feelings about it because i get absolutely exhausted from it #because unfortunately the competition aspect does take hold of me even when i don't want it to rofl. i feel like i have to try my hardest #if it were just an art competition i probably wouldn't enter but because it's mostly a social competition i spend hours on the chat #it's a massive burst of socialization for a week and then afterwards i disappear and don't reply to messages for. months rofl #it's fun to do once in a while but i can't handle it too often. but i am happy to end up with more pictures of my pets #she has a few trophies now and can put a ribbon in each one!

It feels like an overreaction to burst into tears over, essentially, "Go for it," but makes sense when you realize no one takes her seriously.

Her father, Tetora, and even Yona view her as someone in need of protection. They coddle her.

And then here comes Soo-Won, telling her she's capable of making a difference.

c!Dream in the L’manburg Revolution really drives me a little crazy. Like this clip where c!Dream predicts the outcome of the entire revolution is making me so.....

Because here’s the thing with war, right. Someone has to give in. Either one side gets completely annihilated or they give up, and as c!Dream says in this clip, L’manburg was never going to give up. 

Retroactively, with canon lives adding even more Permanence to the damage done in the Revolution, just as the Final Control Room ended up permanently killing people, c!Wilbur’s “we would rather die” speech absolutely seems to point towards the idea of we would rather permanently lose our lives than give in. And this message backs c!Dream into a corner, because it means he has to either completely annihilate L’manburg or he has to let them have what they want. 

And the thing is, if c!Dream wanted the former, he could’ve done that. But he doesn’t want to! This is evident again and again from his repeated calls for them to surrender, from his saving their gear in the Final Control Room to return to them, from him making this prediction before the war’s beginning. c!Dream does not want to completely destroy L’manburg and especially the people within it. War is an extended game of chicken with higher stakes to match, and c!Dream has a hell of a lot more to lose. And this is obvious before the war begins. 

So by a matter of speaking, c!Dream is fighting a war he cannot win. Offensively speaking, unless L’manburg surrenders, he cannot progress to the point of completely destroying them because he does not want to. From his perspective, they were never going to surrender. Wilbur tells him they will never surrender. Going forward with the war is a defensive measure more than an offensive one--making himself and the DreamSMP seem like too much effort to try and fight in order to deter L’manburg from another war. And it’s one that he succeeds at, by a certain measure. But not without a steep cost. 

#so like. of course c!dream jumps for the opportunity for the duel #it's a quick end to a conflict that could otherwise lengthen to severe losses on both sides #losses that he desires to minimize #the duel only puts two people at risk. one of those lives was his own #dream smp had already--in a lot of ways--won. but of course c!dream would look for a quick finish to the war anyway #the losses on his own side weren't the only ones that were concerning him. #at a certain point. right. when you ask someone to surrender Too many times? #at a point. all you're doing is showing your hand.
