If shock wanted to be a mom, what would her kid(s) look like?

((So I'll put this answer below the cut for anyone who doesn't wanna see fankid interpretations, but for the record nothing of it is ever gonna ACTUALLY be relevant on this blog it's just my own personal hc stuff for things beyond the canon storyline of this universe.))

So initially some months ago I designed two potential future kids based on both Shock and Rosa, and then I added a third, who I'll introduce last

Frederica aka Fred is the oldest and is truly the spiritual successor of the mischievous side of the trio, she's not afraid to get her hands dirty and takes a lot after her moms, like Rosa's uncanny ability to hunt things down like they're easter eggs, and Shock's thirst for chaos. But she's not particularly booksmart or a fan of school or wanting to apply herself to succeed, which can cause a bit of friction with her mamas, but they both adore her prankster heart.

Glenn is the second, and he's fundamentally the opposite of his sister, he's very quiet and likes to observe things rather than get involved and he's not one to create mischief or pranks like his sister or his parents and relatives. But his braininess and fondness for books and contemplation will put him in the company of his moms a lot, and especially when he is very little, Shock, or as he calls her 'Maa' will carry him EVERYWHERE, and she admittedly wishes he was a little more stronghearted and tries to toughen him up and help him be independent, but he's a bit of a mama's boy.

Fred loves to tease Glenn and drag him around to be a second hand in her schemes and games and most of the time he suffers for it, but ultimately they are each other's closest ally and if you mess with one of them, the other WILL make you regret it. Just because Glenn doesn't enjoy pulling pranks doesn't mean he CAN'T. He once managed to send some bullies of Fred running in absolute terror from a prank he pulled in revenge.

And then their dynamic is challenged when a third surprise baby is involved in the mix (theyre all concieved by magic, healthcare in halloween town is wild), introducing Magnolia AKA Maggie.

Maggie takes after Rosa way more in appearance, and is arguably the cutest of the three, but she makes Fred look tame when it comes to how much she can actually terrorize and destroy, but she's also a lot more bubbly and cheery and loves to mimic everyone in the family. She especially is obsessed with witches and magic and erroneously thinks her mothers are witches because of Shock's halloween costume, and Rosa's apothecary skills, and wants to be a witch SO bad.

The three get handed down the OG trio's masks, and the bathtub, and go on misadventures in town, and cause enough trouble that they make Lock Shock and Barrel's childhood antics look relatively mild.

Lock gives Fred his mask because they have a very close bond and Lock was instantly enamored with his little niece when she was born. She gave him a pretty serious bout of baby fever, and it resulted in him being a chaotic babysitter and her favorite uncle.

Barrel still remains politely allergic to children, ESPECIALY when Fred was born but they are still warm and caring, and eventually does bond a lot with Glenn over common interests in cooking and music theory. So Glenn gets their mask.

Maggie's fixation with witches almost endeared her to the mask, and Shock let her take it without question.

I have done some concepts of a fourth child who is kind of a spiritual hippie flower child but their design isn't really tied down, and I think their existence is questionable, so for now there's a definite three to carry on the trio's legacy of madness hahaa))

If Lime is on more equal terms with Mochi being in the m34th what would a battle between the two of them be like? Or would they have like a “battle” cause one of Lime’s missions was to get a read on the cat witch or something of the sort. Or angst battle that’s always steamy👀

I WAS JUST THINKING ABOUT THIS THE OTHER DAY!!!!!!!!! a fight between them would just be itching with banter and sexual tension so ofc i would love to see it heheheeh

many things to consider though on that fight.. aside from the fact that theyre in love and could never seriously hurt each other, in an actual serious fight assuming that wasnt an issue, im gonna use this as an excuse to ramble about general strengths and weaknesses (can also be applied to most witches and members of the m34th):

mochi is obviously the cat witch, extremely powerful magic. GREAT magic attacks and environmental control (ie using magic as the means but the end attack isnt actual "magic", like using magic to grab a tree and smashing them with it). she also has essentially unlimited resources in the idea that magic can do or summon anything she needs.

magic attacks alone unfortunately dont mean much against a black canvas. environmental control is still a plus (high res doesnt mean you can survive a boulder to the face), but another thing to consider is that as a witch, she cant kill anyone, and so cant fight with lethal force & has to hold back on all her attacks. another thing to consider is that the magic is limited, so she can always be worn down to exhaustion.

magic is okay (at best) for deflecting/shielding against the m34ths technology weapons (the idea is that the tech is advanced enough to be on par with magic weapons), and shes also okay (at best) at any hand-to-hand fighting (shes not amazing at it since most of her stock goes into magic, and lime is also taller/stronger so she would lose that fight). also dont forget shes very weak to water so if lime could factor that in, thats also something to consider

NOW FOR LIME, the obvious strength is the magic res. magic attacks like mochis magic swords/weapons/blasts dont do much to him. he has the tech weapons to break any magic shields she can use. as already mentioned hes taller (longer reach) and stronger so hand-to-hand is a no brainer, and more importantly hes not a witch so he can fight with the intent to kill (doesnt necessarily apply to them since theyre not trying to kill each other, but applies for a general fight between a witch and an m34th member). another thing to consider is limes running theme of being amazing at everything he does, so hes no run of the mill m34th guy, hes a cut above in terms of strength/strategy/smarts/skill

lime in particular though is cocky by nature, and a bit impatient. hes FAR more likely to do risky attacks and take chances if it MIGHT end the fight quicker, rather than taking a bit more time for a guaranteed success (kinda like in a pokemon battle when you know one more hit from the enemy will down your buddy, but you choose to attack anyway on the off-chance you land a crit and end the fight rather than using the turn to heal). also as mentioned earlier, high res doesnt mean high def so if the witch is smart enough she can still beat you by things like summoning a boat and smashing you with it. the m34th spends so much time fighting magic that they forget they can still be killed by normal things which is hilarious to me

ALL IN ALL THOUGH in a fight between mochi and lime i think lime would win. just from the fact that neither of them would be fighting full strength/trying to kill each other, and it would most likely come down to hand-to-hand since mochi wouldnt drop a building on him, lime would win.

(but in the scenario i was thinking, it was mochis grandma having them spar so she can evaluate mochis skill against an m34th member. mochis grandma is known to be hard on her, so lime held back a little more and let her win so she wouldnt have her family being like "shame...what kinda cat witch loses...."

she realizes this after the fact and when she asks him about it, he tells her something like "I know you were holding back a lot cuz you didn't want to hurt me, and I'm a lot better than a lot of people in the m34th. I'm telling you this right now: you would win against them in an actual fight. You don't need your grandma breathing down your neck for the next 4 months trying to drill more training into you." and thats why she loves him)

THE GIRLS EVER.....

i just think!!! theyre neat!!! and i know canon is definitely sliding towards the "just friends with benefits" more than them ever actually having romantic feelings with each other, but i feel like their personalities mesh well enough together that i just WANT it to go the traditional route of so many fwb stories where they do catch feelings for each other.

i think faith's more laid back attitude compliments well with polly's high energy one, in a way that becomes very clear that faith is still engaging with polly from where she's coming from, while faith provides enough confidence to know what she likes and doesn't like and won't be goaded into something by polly. there's definitely a degree of faith not having a bunch of high expectations for polly to live up to, and for polly being able to bring a little bit of excitement for faith in a way that isn't too overly challenging or pushing her into where she's uncomfortable.

faith having other people who she's close to also helps here, i think, because polly is so non-confrontational with problems and issues that faith can fully take the initiative to get polly to talk about them without just having to deal with them on her own. there's a sort of back and forth here, i think, where faith is someplace calmer and more structured for polly without penning her in, and faith has someone who doesn't come with expectations or responsibilities for her, things for her to take onto herself, things which are closer to her work for the coven.

there's also something to be said about the coven here, in that polly is still mischievous and chaotic, but not bad-natured in doing so and doesn't want to create problems out of it. she's not so much of a problem to be solved or a problem-maker, not in the case of what the coven's usually dealt with, and she's, ironically, one of the most down-to-earth of the ROs when it comes to it, having fairly recently been human and still dealing with that. she has more knowledge of human things and human standards, which witches very much still are, and something which i feel like faith can appreciate.

there's still an aspect of needing to reign in polly's more destructive nature and the collateral damage she can leave behind, but i feel like more than anyone else, faith would be very good at doing so and at making sure polly doesn't overstep, which is always vital. at the same time, polly also provides an outlet for faith, someplace where she can explore safely and set aside her responsibilities. the work-life balance is one of the things that immediately comes to my mind, but in a simpler way, i think it's just being able to more easily switch between serious and lighthearted that makes these two work and balance each other out, providing things which would be neglected without overindulging one or the other.

likewise as with our work, i think polly would KILL IT as a mad scientist's assistant in sexy little fishnets. she would be SUCH a good igor, faith. please let her be igor. she has SO many costumes prepared solely for this occasion.

(faith, of course, welcomes the comic relief of someone who can make her laugh and smile without undermining the actual issues at heart, and who whole-heartedly supports her in her studies. and also crimes. love crimes. love necromantic crimes.)

basically just get you a girl who is willing to literally bend and break the laws of nature itself digging up your own grave and bringing you back from the dead

Gladly. My mind is plagued as well.

Funsandkid is taking the three most annoying little brother type of shitheads in the world and making them an insufferable polycule. Its taking already unparalleled snark and bitchiness and the limpetlike affection of a guy that aims to squeeze you to death when he hugs you and multiplying it by three. They actively make eachother worse. They're always hanging off of eachother even at the most inoppertune times. They're dogs that cant be separated because of separation anxiety but its more because they're soulmates and theres a chunk of them missing than anxiety but like dogs they will fucking whine about everything until theyre back together and when they are. They just fucking gravitate to each other. You could try to separate them and theyd walk away across the desert to find eachother and just happen to meet in the middle like wow what a coincidence as if the Witch cant hear their bitching from the other side and pushed them back together just for a little peace and quiet.

They're so stupid also. I truly cannot express how fucking stupid they are. That post i made that said its called funsandkid because they have fun eating sand together. Yeah. None of them have any sense of self-preservation unless it comes to a firefight. Thats the only time they're serious. They're the three most impulsive fuckers in the desert. Theyll see something shiny on the ground and go ooh shiny while theres like. A fucking tornado or something. They dare eachother to do the randomest stupid things and they do. I have no idea how one of them hasn't nearly died yet. "Hey Kobra i dare you to punch that cactus." "Okay." "Hey Ghoul i dare you to kiss that rattlesnake." "Bet." "Hey guys do you think I'd die if I chewed on this exposed wire?" "Idk try it."

Sandman getting his facepaint/makeup all. Fucking. Over. Kobra and Ghoul. Because i doubt its waterproof. I figure its only really needed if theyre in the city to disrupt facial recognition but he probably does it in the desert too bc it acts the same as like wearing a mask but its the fukin desert so it doesn't last long it sweats and smears and hes like a fucking cat always headbutting and like rubbing his cheek on the others or kissing them all over their faces and shit and he just. There's makeup smears all over the three of them bc of him. They've long accepted it they don’t complain. He walks into a place like black makeup running bc of sweat and looking horrifying and dead and shit going you should see the other guys and kobra and ghoul walk in right behind him covered in black lipstick kisses and black smears that if you just glanced at them youd think they were working on a car or something and wiped the motor oil on their shirts and shit but no. Its just sandman's makeup.

And he totally makes them goth. Like i proposed my goth kobra(foaming at the mouth) agenda forever ago but literally like. Kobra and Ghoul are used to listening to whatever Dr D puts on and obsessing over Mad Gear and dressing like. In their own litte styles but nothing specific just whatever they fancy out of the communal fab four closet. Not that Sandman wouldn't obsess over mad gear and shit too but i just think the scene in the zones is more like mainly punk or just general like. Fucking zonescore idk its its own thing out there. Versus the scene in the city underground where Sandmans from, i think itd have more like visible subcultures. I'm gonna go into it in haunted and holy and in my show pony au thats still gonna be in the drafts for a while but. The city would have like distinct scenes the zones are like a melting pot with only a few crews/cliques really like. Claiming to be/looking like anything specific. But like in the Pony au you'll see them with like the hip hop kinda rebels fucking around on the streets with a boombox and in haunted and holy you'll see the general funsandkid thing of sandman dragging them to goth clubs and raves and shit and doing their makeup and getting them more into that specific genre of music. And they all cry together to the cure and fuck to depeche mode. Or something like that.

Also. Polycule of genderfucks. As if any polycules in danger days arent but. None of them have a single set of pronouns except for Kobra. Trans guy Kobra, the guygirl ever Ghoul, and genderfluid Sandman.

Oh oh oh also Sandman thing that I've been Thinking abt and doodling. Sandman with natural hair. Specifically dreads or the bleached tips like those few photos of Pete we have because he would look so fucking cool

((After i finished writing this i realized how long it is IM SO SORRY if anyone actually reads this i am kissing you so so very tenderly))

OK this is daría she is a swamp witch. She is veeery moody and has a dont care didnt ask type of attitude. She loves creachers and is able to talk to them, she also has vast knowledge of plants and natural remedies. She loves reading, and Aurora (her gf)! She's friends with Sammy (her cousin) and frenemies with Angel (she finds her annoying even though theyre very similar) <3 Also shes an nb lesbian, the shortest of the group and she's 16-17 I faghor to mention that

Angel is a very orderly, serious girl, as well as as a nocturnal witch! She's able to see ghosts and talk to them (AKA order them around to do her chores LOL), and can see almost perfectly at nighttime. She has a tiny (huge) crush on Sammy, her only friend due to Angel's "rude" nature (in reality she is just blunt). She also loves to accesorize, and her favorite color is blue! She's pretty tall and lanky, and is #trans and a lesbian. Also, she finds Aurora annoying. She's 17-18!

Sammy is a caring, kind girl who is also a day witch! She has the ability to soothe and heal all lifeforms. She is also a great singer, having a deep love for music since childhood. She's very affectionate, esp. with Angel, and although she reciprocates her feelings she is too shy to ACTUALLY act on them. This infuriates Daria who just wants the two to quit pining and just kiss already. She likes summer the most, and has a good relationship with her and Darias grandma, who is the legal caretaker for them both. Sammy was adopted by Daría's uncles, who both passed away for Mysterious Reasons. Her relationship with Aurora is a good one, finding her cute and funny. She's tall, a little shorter than Angel, and is a cis lesbian. She's 17-18!

This ^ is Aurora! She's not always in a swimsuit LOL this is just the only decent drawing of her i could find. She usually wears a school uniform with pink accents. She's bubbly, kind and puppy-like, getting excited REALLY easily. She loves fashion, sweets, animals, Daria and the color pink! She is not a witch in any capacity, but she still studies witchcraft in an attempt to become an artificial witch. She likes chasing Angel around and tries to actively become her friend! She's the second shortest of the group, and is a cis bisexual girl! Her age is 15-16; she's a year younger than Daria!

(a note: The children in the fruitverse are born (hatched?) from flowers, which people who are looking for children go to in order to adopt. However, sometimes there's children that no one adopts, and they, along with children that got bad adopted by bad parents, get sent to the Fruit Basket, which is essentially an orphanage. Generally, people looking to adopt seek out the more mild-mannered fruit children, meaning they look for the sweetest fruits (AKA strawberries, bananas, apples, etc.) and other, more acidic fruits have a lower adoption rate due to them being known to be a bit more difficult to raise.)

This girl^ is Berry! I am the best at names I know. She's quiet and calm, and enjoys reading dates with her bff Nana. She lives with just her mom, Ms. Raspberry, and has a pet dog named Pinkie. She is often distressed because she gets roped into wild situations (mostly nana's fault TBH) when she would rather just chill all the time. Still, she's earnest and responsible. She's 13 years old!

This is Nana the man the myth the legend. As you can see, he is a banana. He's mischievious or however you spell that, and enjoys Berry's company mainly because she's 90% of his impulse control. He lives with his parents (Mr. and Ms. Blueberry), and his two siblings: Benjie (oldest) and Nadia (youngest). He loves them to death, and often teams up with Nadia (who is like 10) to stress out Benjie (who is 23). He is tall, and 14, a year older than Berry.

this is Ran! her ref sheet says pretty much everything, but ill talk abt her anyways cause i love her <3

Ran is an orange! She's a quick-tempered girl, but really sweet on the inside. She has trouble opening up to others due to her original parents neglecting her emotional needs while she grew up. When she was 6, her teacher caught onto the fact that her parents treated her badly, and she was sent to the Fruit Basket. At age 9, Lia (a lemon woman) adopted her from there. Ran feels as if she is indebted to Lia and needs to 'earn' her love by being as perfect as possible, so she puts a lot of pressure on herself. Meanhwile, Lia loves her unconditionally and is doing her best to make sure Ran knows that. Ran eventually becomes friends with Nana and Berry, and she is 15 years old.

These two right here are the Cherry sisters!

Mia (left) is the oldest at 22 years old, and she has a playful, happy personality. She likes fashion, and her main love language is signs of affection! She often tries to let her little sister Cher know she loves her, but she can get a bit TOO attentive to the point of overprotection. She is very popular with just about everyone due to her cheery personality and the fact that she's pretty (LOL), making Cher jealous. She is Benjie's girlfriend and loves him to death. Her main hobby is making him flustered!

Cher (right) is the youngest at 16 years old. Her personality is a bit more sour than Mia's, due to her feeling as if she's the shadow of her sister. She has a bit of an inferiority complex, and is often torn between wanting to be Exactly like her sister, or being her own person and being 'worse' than her sister her whole life. She is reclusive, easily annoyed and a bit bitter. She feels as if she is inferior to Mia due to not getting as much attention as her. Still, she likes fashion and is a horror movie fan. She eventually befriends Ran (and 'those two weird kids', by proxy).

OK now for the fruit ones that dont have drawings (yet)!:

Benjie: He's a tall, strong #transhet man, 23 years old, and he's a banana! He has a worrisome and anxious personality that he tries to hide by 'acting cool' (he just puts on sunglasses and hopes for the best). He is very kind, working at a dog shelter and always trying to pull his little siblings out of trouble. He has a soft spot for Berry due to her being a friend and a source of relaxation for Nana.

Monserrat: She is a lemon girl who has been in the Fruit Basket ever since she was born, and has a rivalry with Ran that stems for Lia adopting Ran instead of her. The rivalry consists of Monse being mean to Ran and Ran not letting herself be trampled over. She feels as if she deserves to be Lia's daughter more than Ran due to the fact that both her and Lia are lemons. In reality, she is just bitter about having never been adopted at the age of 15, and channels that bitterness towards other people. She likes romance novels and books, and eventually finds a friend in Cher after having a redemption arc in which she apologizes to Ran (and to Nana, Berry and Charlie, who she also enjoyed antagonizing).

Charlie: They are an apple kid who got pulled out of an abusive home, into the Fruit Basket, where they get ostracized and picked on by the other fruit children due to them being 'weird' (AKA not being able to communicate like everyone else; stuttering) and 'dumb' (AKA them struggling at school). Their peers at the Fruit Basket called them 'Rotten Apple'. This has made them defensive and reclusive, which just makes them get excluded even more. Their only friend at the beginning is their pet worm Alice, though later on they befriend Nana and Berry. They get along well with Ran, too, since they have a kind personality under those layers of defensiveness and aggression.

Agatha: Not a fruit, but a human! This girl is a 'mad scientist' type of character. She's a genius and enjoys programming, hence her creating the Fruitverse, an 'ecosystem' contained in a computer program that got out of hand; it was meant to be a simple game, but she kept adding and adding elements and details in her excitement until the 'characters' became able to think for themselves and altered her computer in the process, becoming a sort of virus for her. She comunicates with the 'characters' through a microphone that resounds in the town speakers, and while most of the adults are respectful and fearful of her, the children are... not, often taunting her and calling her 'stinky' and other names, which makes her basically ragequit and leave her computer (she leaves it running all the time. OK NOW THE ROBOT STORY DW IT ONLY HAS A FEW CHARSCTERS SO FAR THIS IS ALMOST OVER I PROMMY!!

Alice: A 17 year old trans girl with a masculine voice that doesn't match her appearance living in a futuristic city where robots have become a commodity, and people who keep the robots running (AKA essential workers) are treated very, very badly. She lives in the poorer side of town with her parents, who are both maintainance workers, and her sister, a wannabe influencer. As the daughter of maintainance workers, she is bullied in school. One day, she isn't able to stand it any longer, so she skips school and wanders around town, eventually finding a hidden tunnel that leads to an underground system, where discontinued or 'faulty' robots are left until 'recollection' (AKA getting crushed and burned in a facility). Seeing this, she sets out to help the robots, feeling a connection to them. Her adventure leads her to the rotten core of the city.

Annie (short for Anastasia): She is a 20 year old girl, Alice's sister and a wannabe influencer. She worries very much about her little sister, trying to look out for her whenever possible. She is easily annoyed and follows trends as best as she can with her limited options. She has plenty of friends, though most of them talk about her behind her back. She knows this, but she's terrified of not being popular, so she sticks with them. Deep inside, she is a kind, caring girl who is scared of not being liked. Initially, she is against Alice going into her crusade alone, but warms up to the idea eventually, choosing to trust her and looking out for her in a more indirect way.

The Mother: This entity is the AI that rules the city. It doesn't take a single form, being able to choose its vessel from custom-made robot-suits. It is responsible for the unequality of the city, encouraging it as it allows it to keep itself on the top of the metal chain. Eventually, when Alice manages to find it with the help of her sister and robot friends, it tries bargaining for its existence by telling Alice it can give her the life she's always wanted. It promises Alice a future of being adored, of being accepted by her peers. Or something. Haven't decided on that yet!

Discworld has a bit of everything, all over the place, and its all good? The style changes a bit from earlier books to later ones, and some people prefer the later ones, but theyre all still very good.

(When you hear that its usually like i liked the earlier books but the later/middle ones were a spiritual experience for me)

Theres a lot of semi-niche topics explored by individual books, and a few sort of sub series with particular reoccuring protagonists and sort of genres, so you can go and start with either characters you think you'll like, or topics you think you'll like, (and either way get sucked in to a portion of the discworld youll probably enjoy branching out of eventually, but are loathe to leave behind, and then again and again with the next chunk you find a friend in)

One way of choosing is to look up those flowcharts people have made to help decide which discworld book to read/try

Another is to start with a sub series (eg, death, the watch, the witches, whatever moist von lipwig or the times have going on, whatever the gods have going on, whatever tiffany aching the practical witch child with the tiny blue scottsmen has going on...etc. oh also rincewind, fail wizard extraordinaire)

(With that one youd probably go death, i assume, the earliest being mort, which is good but some people dont jive with it immediately like they do with the rest of them, so just fair warning its usually that folks like the rest if they like mort, but the opposite isnt true. They sometimes dont like mort but do like the rest.)

You could also read some of the descriptions and just try out one you vibe with

Uh the most reliable way ive found is you find a discworld person and ask them to recommend you a book and then they ask you like 5 increasingly confusing, specific, and "deep" questions and then go 'ok these two changed my life so i have to recommend them, but i think this one will change /your/ life, and if that doesn't work try this one? I really hope you like them and get something out of them but if not oh well. Good luck!!!!'

And then you have like 4 books to work with and if you end up liking them you sort of find your way naturally around the Discworld

Theres also podcasts that go through all the books so if you dont mind spoilers you could always look up specific eps/books to get a feel for whether a particular book is for you

Uhhh sorry i ran off into my own world and wasn't particularly succinct. Anyway uh i do hope if you decide to read them you enjoy it!! And if you tell us a bit about what you like we can all probably give consensus on top discworld book recs For You, Specifically, if thats something that would improve your life as opposed to the opposite

From all the replies and such I've seen, there are definitely a lot of places to start up Discworld and a lot of them seem very interesting and fun to me (there's so many things! its so diverse! i want to eat all of it!)

I've also gone through a few flowcharts (at least two people sent me here so thank you!) and have gotten Mort and Wyrd Sisters on a few of them

Thanks for the warning about Mort sometimes not jiving with people, I'm notorious amongst my friends for finishing reading books even if I dislike them (I usually do this with Stephen King once a year bcuz I like his ideas and inherited a bunch of his books but rarely enjoy the way he writes) so I'm sure I could through Mort if I don't jive with it at first

I'm also absolutely down to hear your (and others) Life Changing Discworld books to look into (I'm a huge book nerd and I love hearing from other book nerds!) It also makes sense to give more specific recs with better info, when I originally posted that last night I had No Idea how diverse the content in Discworld is, I've learned since then it's much broader than I thought tbh. Pretty much everything you listed there sounds very interesting (we do love the follies of man and subverting tropes tho)

Id love to hear your collector theory!

ok there might be a few holes in this because i haven't re-watched all the episodes about the collector recently - but my main theory is that the collector was an entity around at the same time as the titans, who either worked with them or with someone associated with them - and at some point there was a conflict that resulted in the Boiling isles titan sacrificing themselves to keep them trapped.

(evidence and ramblings under the cut)

first things first:

Who / what is the collector?

Based on KKKOHD we can assume theyre not a witch, given both his appearance (there are no other witches that tall) and also the appearance of his magic, which is black unlike the glowing coloured version we see used by most people and also seems to be,,,,,made up of them?

I cant show it in just screenshots but the shadow of the net stretches back and the collector seemingly comes from it

They also seem to have a serious sun and moon motif, and the moon on the Boiling Isles literally has a face on it - and is shown to have magical properties (thinking back to the moonlight conjuring that can bring life to inanimate objects?)

I'm thinking that the collector is some sort of moon elemental or spirit of some sort - an ancient magic thats different from that of witches that has been around for a long long time.

next up:

Whats his motivation?

In Hollow mind he mentions being betrayed and wanting revenge on someone

"Betrayed, beguiled, alone, deceived! We'll have our revenge on... Ugh, "unity" is so hard to rhyme."

Given the fact that it does rhyme and they don't use it - i'm going to assume they don't want revenge on humanity, especially since that motivation dramatically differs from what belos wants.

So they want revenge on someone! who is it? im guessing the titans, and maybe by extension - the witches that live on it.

They know about the draining spell and don't seem to have much of a problem with killing off all witches

And based on the scraped concept for the vision in hunting palisman we can assume the Day of Unity is going to awaken the titan in some way - presumably killing off all the remaining witches who weren't in a coven for the draining spell.

Why does the collector want to wake the titan? i think its because they're trapped underneath it.

We've gotten a good look at where the collector is trapped - a blue ball shaped prison in the space between worlds.

the closest thing we've seen to that ball is Kings temple

which bares a resemblance to the door to the round boy in Elsewhere and elsewhen

So, we have someone stuck in a prison made up of titan technology trapped in a place you can only get to with Titan's blood, underneath the body of a dead titan. i really feel like the titan either died trying to capture the collector and their blood pooling into the ocean trapped him in the space between - or someone with access to titan stuff found a dying titan and chose to stick their captured moon spirit in there.

So what now?

The collector, now trapped in the space between swears vengeance on those who trapped him and does the only thing it can do from their prison. Watches people through the cubes, gathers information and manipulates people who can see them. He does this with the titan trappers - which results in them killing off all the remaining titans and then he does this with Belos, another lost child with abandonment issues and a distaste towards life on the boiling isles. He teaches him about the draining spell, a way to source power into a spell for when the moon covers the sun and the tide is lowest - thousands of witches pouring their power into one huge moonlight conjuring. Reanimating the Titan

The theory gets a little bit muddy after this point, mostly because i have no clue as to how the day of unity is going to go, like,,,,all balls are in the air right now

ive seen some people talking about how Belos wants to wipe out all magic - and the collector is magic, so if they are freed there will probably be some back stabbing - but i dont think the collectors going to replace Belos as the big bad in Season 3. It would be really unsatisfying from a storytelling standpoint - it would take away the colonial and real life counterparts from Belos and replace them with a magical clown child who if they where a person would be obsessed with collecting pokemon cards, and that would just feel bad thematically. It would be a lot more fun if there are these two antagonists trying to manipulate each other into doing what the other wants.

if you look at it from various sides the collector doesnt really seem all too evil. They have the mentality of a child who's been around for thousands of years and can trap living things in paper, of course they're not going to have any regard for human (or witch?) life, its the equivalent of a kid stepping on ants or chasing birds to scare them away. It would make a good extreme parallel to Luz - who literally ran away to the Demon Realm to escape her personal prison and who at the start of the show, was also very curious but naive.

there are obviously some holes in this theory - with the largest one being the timeline. The only time we see the collector not trapped in the space between is in KKKOHD - which not only had a lot of dream spookiness going on, but also looks pretty much the same from when we see the same location in Edge of the world

(there also where already a bunch of dead titans in the KKKOHD flashback so who knows how they died.)

The validity of this theory is completely dependant on the owl beasts scroll having had to float around the ocean for literally thousands of years before being picked up (which could honestly explain why there are no other owl beasts but idk) and there's honestly just so much we dont know about the collector, its fairly hard to speculate anything concrete

so yeah! thats what ive been thinking. i hope i explained it alright, but there are definitely some holes here and there.

witch hat atelier ponies! here come the magic dads and their adopted children. all of them have trauma! (i know we didnt get that tetia backstory yet but have you seen this series? id be more surprised if there wasnt a sad backstory hiding in that voluminous pink hair)

since im pretty happy with this one, have a wall of text about cutie mark reasoning, some headcannons and other random ramblings below

- first off, the doodles on the left show how witches of each pony tribe draw the seals; earth ponies have retractable ink wands, pegasi use wingtip wands. unicorns pose a bit of a problem here given theyre already magic horses, so WHA unicorns can only perform the most basic magic there is in mlp canon ie object levitation. we will conveniently ignore the question of how they hide their seal drawing when theyre not really wearing any clothes. the ratio of each tribe in witch population is 60:30:10 unicorns:pegasi:earth ponies. due to this unicorns are generally viewed as best witches (where classical unicorns are held above regular ones); then pegasi, then earth ponies, however, this is more a matter of stereotypes than inherent biology traits.

- im gonna go character by character, left to right, note some titbits if i have any about them, and add in my reasoning behind each cutie mark. i am sticking to only one set of character names, if you read a different translated version and are used to another way a name is written.... look agott alone has like a dozen of them, im not writing them all out okay? okay good lets go

olruggio: him and his disaster husband have complimenting designs; i opted to go for that fire and water duality with them, rather than just black and white. so olly has dark red coat against qifrey´s light blue. admittedly, making him a pegasus wasnt all that deliberate decision, he would probably make a good unicorn just fine, but i figured making them all unicorns is predictable and boring, so why not have some fun? he can have some flying, as a treat (we will omit sylph shoes existing in case of this crossover). his cutie mark is a contraption tool inside a flame; both pretty obvious choices, he is an inventor and the one character with an entire monologue about a fire.

qifrey: correct me if im wrong, but i think qifrey is juuuuust a tiny bit taller than olruggio in the manga, so the drawing reflects it. his cutie mark is a water drop creating ripples in the water surface; the water aspect in him is clear. his decision to take coco in is what jump starts all the events that unfold, and his relentless pursuit of brimcaps show he is not someone to, pardon the awkward pun, let the waters stay calm.

- agott: ah. she. my favorite, best character right here, prepare for me going off. unlike everyone else, agott´s ears are perpetually folded (she is one serious and a little bit grumpy child after all), but that doesnt necessarily mean she always feels grumpy or sad. she just prefers using words to emoting, which is entirely fair. i hear all zero of you asking, why isnt she a unicorn? surely the arklaums would all be fancy unicorns (yes, really, i think akrome is the most spread around version of her surname, but like i said im sticking to the translated version i prefer because like, again theres at least five different ways this surname is translated), given theyre one of the original houses, shouldering that legacy. reason is twofold: one, being born an earth pony, the one with a runaway gene (here´s where i point to the cake twins as canon mlp example), enhances her status as the family outcast; gives one more reason for her desperation to prove herself to her family. two, it gives her another connection to coco, something she despises at first but then accepts and even cherishes later as she gets to know coco. and because angst is the fuel that keeps me afloat, here´s a fun twist: do yall remember chapter 23, where iguin starts tattooing a forbidden spell on agott´s lower arm but doesnt finish it? i remember. now, kamome shirahama the series´creator doesnt, as far as ive noticed at least, keep this unfinished spell on agott´s arm (granted its like, just one long line canonically so maybe i just missed it), but to me its way too intriguing of a concept. so pony agott has an incomplete seal on her hoof where you can tell its a seal, and boi does it cause problems to both agott´s psyche and bring unwanted outside attention (you bet there was at least one confrontation with knights moralis over this). she generally hides it under a bracer if theyre away from the atelier. now, her cutie mark is the one im most proud of; a book and a purple bird (specifically a phoenix) in front. the book symbolizes both her personal goal to become a librarian in the tower of tomes, and her main strength as a witch, that is technique derived from studying and hard work. the phoenix symbolizes a cycle of change, of rebirth. she was rejected from house arklaum only to find herself in qifrey´s atelier; a second chance to prove herself. the endless cycle of changes in her life, and she does her best to keep rolling with them. and in her own words, she always strives to become someone better, never content to be as she is now.

coco: as mentioned, coco is an earth pony, an obvious choice for the regular-person-thrusted-into-magical-world characters. she is actually really stoked about agott being an earth pony as well, since agott being so skilled with magic gives coco hope she will be great in her own way one day. brushbuddy enjoys being carried by coco, ponies are fluffy. her cutie mark is a wand, but the tip is a painting stone; a link between her old-new calling of magic finally given a chance, and her past as daughter of a seamstress and her ability to draw perfect straight lines. longing, working towards a future where she can both keep her magic and return her mom from petrification.

richeh: now, like qifrey, i made richeh a unicorn, but unlike qifrey, she is a classical unicorn; that means sligtly tilted ears, longer and curvier horn, and a leonine tail. her trademark deadpan stare is of course included. her cutie mark is an ink wand changing into one of her crystal ribbons, a symbol of her originality and the way she wants to keep her spells her own.

tetia: she has a habit of pronking instead of walking, fitting given she´s the most pinkie pie-esque character in WHA. and also im still terrible at drawing pegasi in flight, but we dont have to talk about that part. her cutiemark is rather simple, a cloud and a rainbow. rainbow for her general disposition and her focus on gratitude, and the cloud for her proficiency/interest in cloud magic.

it’s so endearing though.

they find out while walking you home one night: it’s very stormy and they just wanted to make sure you get home safe because they worship the ground you walk on. cue like a fucking billboard nearly falling on you and the group of boys and your instincts just kick in and you stop it mid air.

noya’s still screaming even after everyone’s just gone silent and is gawking at the fact a billboard (or whatever the object is i can’t think rip) is hovering above them. in mid air. because of you. what the fuck?

daichi’s blood pressure drops he’s like somebody catch me im about to faint wtf is going on.

you kinda freak and just toss it away and run your way back home, as far away from the boys as possible.

but alas, you’re their manager, and you have duties to fulfill. so you show up to practice the next morning terrified for your life.

you’re not really sure why you’re so scared and nervous. you just are? it’s a huge part of who you are and it’d be a big bummer if the most important boys in your life didn’t accept it.

it feels like a weight lifted off your shoulders when they find out because the closer you grew to these boys, the more they felt like family to you.

how they find out: it’s like 3am on a weekend, the seijoh 4 and some of the second years. you’d baked a cake with like all of them all at once in the kitchen, so it was now a mess, so you’re attempting to clean it up as fast as you can the way you know best — with your hands and your mind. makki walks in, high as shit, sees this and just.

“damn must be the weed.”

you don’t hear him. so. uh oh.

he was probably sent there by iwa to get water or something, so iwaizumi walks in and just yells so loud “what the fuck!”

it’s like they’re all summoned by this. they eventually all pile into the kitchen and you’re literally just frozen in fear with pots and pans and utensils and specks of flour hovering by you. and then you maintain eye contact with iwa as you lift one hand and direct the pans into a cupboard and slowly shut it.

“so it’s not the weed?”

they honestly. don’t act any different tbh

it’s like an added feature of yours that they appreciate.

oikawa asks you to read his mind to test if what happened that night was real and you just lift him up from off his seat.

yeah mind reading is just a regular thing now. they will slyly ask you to read the other team’s minds during a match and you’re like no that’s cheating. but you do. and you subtlety give them advice. like “hm i wonder if that team’s gonna do this specific attack”

when morning comes they’re all like hella scared to approach you except kenma and kuroo bc kenma— is in awe. kuroo — does not believe it.

you’re kinda :( that they’re scared of you and you approach them after the day is over and just apologize, and tell them you didn’t mean to scare them and that you’d never hurt them or even consider it.

they do a 180 bruh they just all go “awwwwww” and suffocate you in a group hug so you shove them all off for good measure lmao

kuroo still doesn’t believe it until you save his ass in broad daylight and he’s like ok maybe it wasn’t fake so what sue me

whenever there are training camps where other schools come they beg u to help them prank the boys

it’s literally just roleplay and you couldn’t care less someone catches the two of you you’re no pussy you can admit when you’re having fun

overall a very chaotic reaction

ah tales. its defo one of the things i feel like gets the most hype bc the ideas are AMAZINg and then, they all really fall flat somehow.

first off... i do think this was one of the. worser tales. im not gonna say worst bc charlie really pulled through and the pre-recorded videos were COOL but. that was really it.

Normally i would expect the dick jokes and shit from quackity bc. thats just the character he plays but he also has really really funny jokes within those!!! but with this tales like someone else said it was really just. the same three lines over and over again. had he pulled that shit in the beggining and then like. got killed off (witch i think is the better route yknow. have a funny character, have them be sliced and diced to show this is Serious. and then maybe have another one that has technos realm of jokes where theyre calmer but. still there.)

and that tubbo had a gamer mic was kinda unfun too. i understand if like you said you would be there but also. cmon if your not going to be able to be heard and/or even show back up? :/

and then through all of that. the puzzles. they were all AMAZING but. i litterally could not like take them in because there was just so much screaming and moaning. i really dont understand what karl is like. trying to give us here because he seems to have all these really good builds and really amazing ideas, but when your running through like. lore important areas (cough cough the inbetween and apparently otherside sections of the maze) bc your on a time crunch and you spent most of it fucking around making anime noises and pill jokes. it just doesnt end up good. no clue if he wants to make the first parts Like That to enhance the lore part (witch it. dosent. we just talk about how shit the first part was lol) then congrats? i just. isk anymore lol

honestly just big agree with all this shit here. its just, so much potential but i feel like karls trying to hard to appeal to his main audience, the one who enjoys the feral boys or whatever theyre called, while also trying to appeal to the lore enjoyers but that doesn't work since those two things just. cant be combined easily.

this is v much just me but personally i dont want cis ppl to write their male characters as trans whenever they write mpreg bc like i feel like they will not do a good job of it. cis ppl writing representation is a mixed bag at the best of times and if they feel like its the only way they can write the pregnancy narrative they desperately want to that will not end well. also i feel like mpreg whether as an anomaly via magic or as a part of an AU is v much different from trans men being pregnant. if the writer is thinking through the implications of the way that theyre playing it that will make a difference narratively speaking + thats no bad thing - eg dean winchester being cursed by a witch to become pregnant would be a v different thing from dean in a universe where many cis men can become pregnant, vs a universe where dean is trans - each dean would think abt his pregnancy differently at least imo. i think that inevitably when writing abt male pregnancy an authors biases will come into play but its a fools game to think that pushing against cis mpreg will resolve those issues. far better to encourage writers to think abt what theyre doing w gender more broadly, to counter cissexism regardless of how they write male pregnancy. i also personally think that a lot of the time ppl write mpreg bc they either want a domestic pregnancy/baby au or as a kink thing and that mostly they dont write trans male pregnancies bc its v much just not the purpose of the thing, which is fine given that its fanfic and often largely just abt satisfying desires ppl have rather than abt like. writing serious nuanced pieces abt real life situations. also sorry this was meant to be a short ask hgkfghj but yeah theres my thoughts on the entire discourse

yeah this is often also how i feel about this - i think "if you're going to write mpreg you should just make them trans" is kinda reductive because it isn't really the solution to the underlying biases that are frequently at play.

and yeah imo most pregnancy fic - mpreg or not - is kink to some degree. i feel like pushing back against male pregnancy being seen as kink/squick entirely isn't necessarily productive, although pushing back against it being seen as more kink/squick than female pregnancy is totally reasonable.
