"Your food delivery's here!" Y/N giggled cheerfully as she opened Aaron's office door but her cheery expression was halted when she noticed that Dave and Emily were also in the room as they were previously discussing important; she looked at the other two agents and shot them a sympathetic look, "I'm sorry I didn't get you guys anything, can I make it up next time? Did you guys like the chocolate mousse or the cupcakes that I brought last time?"
"i liked both, I do have a craving for your chocolate mousse," Came Emily's immediate and well-thought of reply, which earned her smirking looks from the two men, "What? Y/N's a great baker and I love all of her treats."
"Aw, you're too sweet to me, Em," Cooed the younger woman and hurriedly hugged the noirette tight, "I'll bring some next time I visit here, kay?"
"As much as Emily and I would love to chat more with you, I believe there's a certain commander of ours who'll get grumpy if he doesn't ear his lunch," Rossi remarked as he took note of the rather tight-lipped expression that Hotch was wearing; Emily smirked as well once she broke off the hug and took a good look at their unit chief, "You're right, Rossi. It seems like they might even need to be put down for a nap."
Y/N waited until the two were out of the room before placing the lunch bag on his desk, making way to where Aaron was and sat comfortably on his lap, lacing her arms around his neck as she wondered, "Did you guys get a new team member?"
"What makes you say that, sweetheart?" Aaron questioned back as he busied himself with stroking her cheek as he kissed her nose before landing a sweet kiss on her lips.
"Dave was talking about a commander, do you have an army teammate?" Her cute head tilt made it hard for the unit chief to explain what Rossi really meant. Instead, he went along with her understanding by agreeing, "No, sweetheart. But wanna know a secret?"
Her cute gasp as she nodded excitedly, prompted him to reveal, "Sometime I don't really understand what Dave says. We all just go with what he says and make him think he's making sense."
Smacking his shoulder slightly, she reprimanded him, "That's mean, Aar. You be nice to Dave! Or else he won't make me anymore of his delicious lasagna." Leaning forward to press a kiss on her glossed up pout and chuckles at her, "Well don't worry, I will cook all the meals you will ever crave for."
"You are a great cook," She pondered for a bit before her eyes drifted over to the lunch bag she had carried with her, perking up in excitement as she remembers, "Oh! I brought you lunch! I made a it all healthy like you want, with produce, filer, and gains!"
As she was opening the covers of the tupperware, Hotch nodded to himself as he understood better what she was trying to convey, "Protein, fibre, and grains," He listed as he saw the chicken, eggs, banana, grapes, and some nuts. "You didn't have to go through all this trouble, sweetheart," He said, with a voice full of love as he placed a chaste kiss on her cheek.
Shaking her head as if what he said was absurd and lifting the forkful of food by his mouth, cupping her free hand underneath the fork in case some food fell off, "But I really wanted to see you, and I knew you didn't pack any lunch with you. Plus, you always cook for me and I wanted to return the favor, you know?"
Taking the bite she had prepared for him, he hummed appreciatingly as he smiled up at her, "I'll forever be grateful for this, sweetheart. It's been a while since I had a pretty girl bring and feed me lunch."
Giggling as she scooped some of the eggs and brought it to her mouth, "Just say the word and I can make this an everyday arrangement! Oh, would you need a personal assistant, Aar?"
"And no, I don't think I need one. Besides, I'd love it more if you busied yourself with your designs, sweet."
"Oh! Speaking of my designs, I worked on more today! I came up with this dress that comes down mid thigh and it has this Venus cut on the shoulders. Though for a while I struggled because I wasn't sure if I wanted the design to be simple sparkles to look like stars or have like embroidered flowers on it," It was apparent on her satisfied smile as she fed him more chicken that she was immensely proud of the result, "Can't wait to show you what it looks like once I've made it!"
"I can't wait to see it either. Maybe you can give me a fashion show hm?" Rubbing her back to settle her pent up excitement.
"Well maybe not right away, I have these shoes in mind that I wanna buy that will tie up the whole look."
As he was fed another bite, Aaron felt around for his wallet before speaking, "Why don't you take my card when you buy it?" Scoffing in mock offense, she shook her head and feed him another spoonful as if to silence him from making more silly suggestions, "Well excuse me for wanting to use my hard-earned money. You can't be the only one who will do all the spoiling of me. Or for me," She pouts as she looked up at him, "You do know what I mean, right?"
"I always do, sweetheart," He reassures which brings out a bright, toothy smile from her.
From there on out, Hotch filled her up on what the latest happenings within the team are — he of course left out the gruesome details of the cases are, but instead what the latest life updates of team members. And in return, she shared memorable interactions with her customers.
While he was recalling how Spencer pulled a prank on Derek with the help of Blake, Hotch's keen eye noticed that Y/N was scooping eggs but instead of feeding it to him, she fed it to herself.
"Hey! I thought those eggs were for me?" He jokingly scolded her when the bite of eggs went to her; as if to make up for it she gave him a big serving of the eggs before answering his question, "Well it's because I had such a busy day, Aar! I cleaned the apartment, cooked food, and I worked on some more designs!" She laid her head on his shoulder as she passed the fork to him — which allowed the unit chief to this time feed for himself as he noticed that the exhaustion of her day's activities was catching up on Y/N. "So ready for a nap, Aar."
"Yeah? Your tummy's all full so you're ready for a nap now?" While his voice was teasing her , Y/N did not register it as such and instead took it as concern for her well-being. Snuggling further into his neck while her hand busied itself by rubbing his chest lovingly, spreading warmth on his entire being.
"Can I go lay on your chest? Wanna stay with you while I nap," She was a hundred percent sure that he would give in but Hotch knew that if she did let him lay on him like this that one, work that needed to be done that day would not get accomplished which means more time not spent with Y/N and Jack. And second, it would be likely that a team member will barge in and poke at him for letting his guard down.
Against his will, he shook his head as he lifted her body in his strong arms — he smiled to himself upon feeling her snuggle close — and laid her on his office couch, he draped her with the soft, faux fur blanket her purchased after her first visit into his office and she made some comment about what will keep him warm while he works and she was not there to snuggle him.
"I won't take more than two hours and then we're out of here, okay?"
"Mmkay, I'm just gonna nap here, Aarbear. Wake me up when it's time for us to go, okay?" She immediately nuzzled herself into the blanket, leaning against his soft lips when he pecked her cheek softly.
"Sleep well, sweetheart," He muttered softly before promptly returning back to his desk; now motivated more than ever to brisk through this mountain of paperwork if he had any desire of spending his time with her and Jack for the evening like they had originally planned.
It wasn't until twenty minutes in when he had the expected visitor that took place in the form of Derek Morgan. Polite knocks followed by him entering the office, the Chicago native smirked as he spotted the sleeping form of his boss' girlfriend. "I see you got yourself a sleeping beauty," He remarked as he placed the files on the desk.
"Don't worry, I'll wake her up with a kiss before we leave," Hotch joked as he thanked him for the files he got accomplished. Taken aback with how he cracked a joke on his own, Derek replicated his chuckle and said, "Honestly though, Hotch, she's really good for you."
Putting the pen down as he took in his words and stared lovingly at her, "Not only that, but I she is the one for me, Morgan."

Mari Lwyd | Alfie Solomons x gn!reader
『••✎••』
↳ ❝ Alfie
15 “We’re not here for you, don’t worry”
24 “It’s alright, I got you, I got you” ❞
: ̗̀➛ For the first time, Alfie is exposed to a tradition he's not quite sure of.
: ̗̀➛ swearing, innuendo
•───────────────★•♛•★──────────────•
Winter had officially arrived, and while Alfie lit the candle for Hanukkah in the evening and joined in with you for prayer, he wasn't going to stop you from going to the festival in your home town.
It was only a few hours there and back in the car, but Alfie was more than happy to go with you and to bring Cyril along as well.
You both agreed that for three days, you would spend some time with your family, and for three days, you would go and see his family; for the other two days, you would spend it at home together.
Thankfully, your family had enough room for you both, and you were saddled with sharing the annex at the side of the house; it was quiet and peaceful, except for during the mornings when Cyril would play with the family dogs.
He was a clumsy old boy, and often accidentally knocked over the slimmer greyhounds; the black and white one wasn't too keen on Cyril, but the seal brown one with white spots randomly littered across her back adored him and thought he was her puppy.
With the Menorah sat on the table, you and Alfie had everything prepared and ready. Your family had theirs up, displayed on the mantle in the living room.
In the evening, you and Alfie would sit with them in the living room, eating sufganiyot and latkes; when the candle was lit, you would sit and pray and sing Maoz Tsur.
It all seemed rather normal, not many surprises to be had except for the Hanukkah gelt that was hidden around the house and the garden but out of reach of the dogs.
It was quite fun, really, and Alfie enjoyed helping your younger relatives with finding their lot, even if he was getting rather stiff from running around after them.
What he didn't expect, though, was when you walked into the annex; Cyril barked and howled at you, his hackles up as you stood in the bedroom. Alfie looked you up and down, furrowing his brows.
"Why the fuck are you dressed like a dead horse?"
You laughed softly as you did a twirl for him. "Mari Lwyd!"
Alfie frowned, taking the pole with the horse's skull from you and examining it. "Why?"
You grinned as you adjusted the sackcloth on your head to make sure it wouldn't fall. "We do it every year. We go knocking on houses, and we ask for entry in song... well, cywydd."
He nodded slowly, licking his lips. "I ain't dressin' up as a fuckin' dead horse."
You chuckled, shaking your head as you pointed to the door. "Nope. You're gonna be one of the men that escorts me."
He raised a brow. "Escort?"
"Yeah," you nodded. "It's just a bit of fun. You'll love it."
He was skeptical, in all honesty. Looking you up and down as he shook his head. "You owe me."
"It's alright, I got you, I got you," you beamed, taking the pole from him and gently setting it aside before taking his face in your hands. "One kiss now, another later - as payment."
Alfie shook his head, tugging you a little closer so you were stood between his legs. "Go up."
"Two now," you offered. "Two later?"
"Bit more," he hummed.
"Three now," you grinned. "Three later?"
"Four now," he bartered. "Four later."
"I can do that," you agreed, licking your lips as you laughed softly. "You sure you're gonna be alright to do this? I know your legs have been a bit sore."
Alfie shrugged as he hummed, leaning back slightly so he could get a good look at you. "I'll be alright as long as there ain't no fuckin' runnin' involved."
"There won't be," you told him with a shake of your head. "And we'll be back in time to light the candles, as well."
"You sure?"
"Mmhmm," you agreed with a nod. "We always are - and there'll be fresh sufganiyot."
He groaned softly as he nodded. "We're gonna have to nick some of they cunts, mind. My mum would love 'em."
"That won't be a problem," you admitted. "There's usually loads left over."
Cyril growled at the horse head, prompting Alfie to laugh as he grabbed the dog's collar. "It's alright, mate, we're not here for you, don't worry... it ain't gonna hurt thy."
You smiled, gently ruffling the dog's ears. "Aw, he's a good boy - ain't you, matey? You wanna go play with the others?"
He perked his ears up, looking at you with a wagging tail as he got down on his front legs; you laughed softly, going to the door and opening it so he could bolt into the garden. You were about to close the door when Alfie came up behind you, pulling you flush against him.
"You owe me," he warned playfully. "You got a payment to make, love."
You turned to face him, unable to keep the smile from your face as you looked to the bed. "I think I know where best to perform the transaction."
"C'mon, then."
"Wait," you laughed when he tugged at you. "I gotta lock the door, Alf!"

Helmets
Summary: Dan brings Em karting.
June 2019
"Remind me why I agreed to do this?" Em stared at Dan with wide eyes, the smell of petrol invading her senses. She was in her very own racesuit that Dan had presented to her that morning, the lavender colour she knew wasn't going to last long. Dan had his race helmet with him but she pulled on one they gave her at reception.
"Because you made a comment about how if Max could do this at four you should probably do it. I mean four is too young, and we won't talk about Max's childhood, but I figured we should try it out. And I'll go easy on you."
He'd rented the entire kart track for the two of them. Walking in she was pretty sure reception thought it was a prank, the track down for Ricciardo for two hours. But there they were.
"Left is for the brake, right is for the accelerator. Steering wheel is like a normal car. Just go and have fun." He kissed her cheek before they got their helmets on. "Go fast and be safe."
"I thought that was my line?"
Sitting into the kart was weird, so low to the ground. They were doing F1 rules, two practice sessions and then qualifying before doing twenty laps around the karting circuit. It took a couple of minutes to get her head around it but she managed to push herself through her nerves and didn't hit a single barrier on the way around. Between their practices Dan congratulated her, giving her a hug before they got back in.
She would have given Dan the pole but. he insisted that they worked for it. It didn't feel fair considering his day job but she shrugged and got back into the kart. Taking a deep breath Em did her warmup lap before pushing down on the accelerator and letting it go. She came back to a grinning Dan, helmet off as he bowed with a flourish.
"I should have brought one of my pole trophies for you."
"What?!"
"P1, Baby. P1."
She stared at the electronic timing. Dan was of course in kart 3, a lap of 31.231 there in his place. But her number 5 had a time of 31.187.
"How the fuck did I do that?"
"Seb encouraged you because you're in his number? You hit every apex I could see. It was magical. Should put you in a karting race."
"Not happening. I have enough anxiety watching you get in your car."
She stared at the screen, taking a photo of it for posterity before they got into the karts to go back out. She'd beaten a formula one driver in a kart. That felt good.
The race was fun, even though Dan took off ahead of her from lap one. She didn't care about it and focused on hitting the corners right and enjoying every single moment of it. She could see how Dan enjoyed driving like this. Her mind was blissfully blank as she focused on the track.
Coming into the pits at the end she was grinning, Dan helping her out of the kart as adrenaline flowed through her.
"You could have been a driver," Dan said when her helmet came off.
"No thanks. I think I'm better if I don't get in a kart. I'm a good support person though."
"So you'll let any future kids get in one?"
"I mean not before they're in school, but if they want to I can't really say no. Not when so much of my life has revolved around it."
"True."
They did the podium ceremony, Dan lifting the flimsy trophy above his head as Em cheered for him. They left grinning to go for food, Dan's question about future kids ringing around Em's head.

Everyone is already tired of Eepy after a month, mf is even starting to piss off Iris because he won’t listen to her
So imagine how defeated everyone felt when Iris came home with a Tyrunt , a Pokémon that likes to bite even more that Gible, and their bites are known to hurt like a bitch
Even Drayden is starting to think letting Iris bring home wild baby Pokémon is a bad idea, if the broken TV is anything to go by
I just imagine the lead up to that was just, Iris sitting them down on the couch and looking at them in the eye seriously
“I’m going into the next room to do some paperwork”
“Tyrunt!” “Ble!”
“Promise me that you’ll behave by yourselves until I’m done”
“RuntRunt” “Gible!”
“Ok, I’ll get this done as fast as I can”
And not even five minutes later does Iris hear a crash. Girly is really contemplating whether she should let Drayden find the mess first or just go clean it up herself
On the bright side, Eepy finally stops biting them 24/7 and instead bites Tyrunt when they play together
REAL😭😭🤣
No bc in the first ask you sent me I was gonna add like, a small bit of Eepy following Iris during the league meetings and ofc, he's there biting her, and ofc it was expected of Cynthia to say that's normal for Gible bc when her own Garchomp was still a Gible it wouldn't stop biting her too, it still has a habit of biting Cynthia really (Iris hopes and prays everyday that Eepy won't keep that habit when he evolves, please Arceus just this one good thing), but also Diantha saying how it reminds her of her own Tyrantrum when it was still a Tyrunt too, and Iris was just "really? I mean, doesn't your Tyrantrum have Strong Jaw??"
"yes, he broke my bones back then"
"WHAT"
And that's how the Champions found out that Dia took a year off from completing the Gym Challenge bc her Tyrunt bit her arm hard enough it broke her bones lmao
And that in mind, when she found her own Tyrunt, well, she's glad at least that it's Eepy he bites, not her, bc she'd rather not want broken bones too lol
But also now it's Eepy and Terry, im gonna call him Terry bc of Dinosaur King I love Terry so much he's so cute, causing trouble in the league, Caitlin's chambers is off limits now like she legit put up a psychic barrier so the two lil shits won't be able to disturb her while she's sleeping hahaha
Imagine Eepy and Terry just following Iris to another league meeting, Hilbert just gives her a look™
"no."
"Well, I can't just leave them!"
"yes you can!! Why don't you leave them with Bianca?! They listen to her more!"
"because I'd be a bad parent and partner if I just leave them with Bianca all the time! Plus, she has her own meeting"
"Okay how about this: give them to trainers!! To Dragon trainers! Can you at least do that?!"
"and you think I haven't tried??? These little shits wouldn't leave!"
On the bright side, at least y'know, Eepy and Terry just bite each other and their toys now, not them which made the meeting a bit more bearable lmfaooo
But y'know imagine it got to the point Iris has to beg Bianca to train Eepy and Terry not to bite anyone bc she's the only they listen to, and ofc, Bianca agreed, saying she'd have more time with her lil darlings, Iris still doesn't understand how Bianca's not tired of em, Eepy especially lmfao
The downside of that is that while Bianca did train them to not bite anyone, they would legitimately listen to only Bianca now, like Iris is their actual trainer but they won't even listen to her cjkdjdb hahaha now they follow Bianca around so at least she has more company when doing field work, plus, Eepy and Terry doesn't bite people much anymore so that's an added bonus ig hahah least the league wouldn't have to deal w Terry and Eepy anymore hahaha

If they spent all of Stolas’s birthday together maybe there was other games. Like after they talk more blitz asks what else Stolas has to do for a job, father tells him he’ll have to have a baby someday, an heir just in case and it scares him (cuz Stella scary) but maybe he’d be a good papa. Then they play a game of house basically. Blitz shoving a pillow in his suspenders and makes Stolas bring him a snack! Foreshadowing!
"Really? A baby?"
"Uh-huh." Stolas nodded from the seat by the window. "She looks mean though."
"Maybe she just takes bad pictures or something," Blitzo suggested, but Stolas hugged his knees.
"I don't think so..."
"Oh. Hmm." Blitzo seemed stumped by that. "Babies are kinda loud and wiggly and messy, but I like 'em okay. One'a the acrobats had a big tummy for a while and then she had a baby, so it's got something to do with it, I think."
Blitzo seemed smart in practical stuff, so Stolas didn't argue- besides, he'd seen some of the mommies wandering around the castle with rounded tummies, so it made sense.
"Hey, how about we play house?" Blitzo suggested, before looking around. "Er, castle?"
"Huh?" Stolas tilted his head with a soft coo.
"It's like playing at being grown-ups! Maybe it won't be as scary if you get practice. You be you, and I be, uh... who's she?"
"I don't know her name. Father didn't tell me yet."
"I can't be somebody if I don't know their name!" Blitzo tapped his chin. "I guess I'll still be me, then." His tail snagged a nearby pillow, hugging it to his chest. "Wow. All your stuff is really soft."
"I suppose." He hadn't ever thought about it before. Of course things were soft and comfortable, that was how they were supposed to be. For the first time, he noticed how some of Blitzo's horns were flaking- a sign of how he couldn't afford to have it polished, or just evidence that he was growing, the same as the places where Stolas's feathers didn't quite grow in even yet?
By the time he'd plucked out a feather to contemplate as he twirled it in his fingers, Blitzo had stuffed the pillow under his shirt, and used his tail to snatch the tip of the feather out of his hands before he tickled at Stolas's face with it. "Hey. You there, princey?"
"I'm here, I'm here!" Stolas flushed as he blinked, scrubbing at his lower eyes. The imp's suspenders helped keep the pillow in place as Blitzo fell back on Stolas's bed.
"So, what do you gotta do to be a Papa?" He screwed up his mouth, sitting back up. "Uh... order people around. But it's just me in here."
Seeing Blitzo sitting on his bed made Stolas's flush worse. Nobody else his age that wasn't related to him had ever been in his room, and now this cute boy was just... sitting there, tail squirming against the silken sheets. Stolas couldn't help a brief flash of an image where his plushie had been replaced with Blitzo being hugged to his chest. He'd be warmer. "I could... um. I could do something nice for you, so you'd like me."
"Nah, that doesn't sound right either," Blitzo said with a wave of his hand.
"Well, I wanna be a nice father," Stolas said, looking around the room before seeing a small packet of candy on the dresser. He stretched up on the tips of his feet, fingertips straining before they caught the edge and he managed to pull it closer. "Giving people sweets is nice, right?"
"It's very nice," Blitzo agreed, eyes sparkling before a low growl made both of them freeze. He shrunk down a little into himself, the pillow looking even bigger across his tummy and chest as Stolas scrambled back up into the bed. "I just- I didn't have lunch before we got here, that's all."
"You can share mine," Stolas said as he offered over the packet of Honey Cubes with a smiling bee emblazed on the side. Blitzo tore the packet open and popped one in his mouth, eyes widening again.
"Oh, these are good!"
"Uh-huh, they're my favorites," Stolas said, muffling a giggle as Blitzo's cheeks puffed out while he rolled the candy around in his mouth to savor the taste before tipping the packet over his lips and eating the rest of them all at once.
"W'll, y've g't g'd t'ste," Blitzo mumbled through his mouthful of Cubes. "Th'nks."
"Oh, it's nothing!" Stolas said, scooting closer. "So I'm doing good?"
"Y're d'ing-" Blitzo swallowed. "Great," he finished, patting the pillow. "I'm sure she'll be lucky to have you."
Thinking of the girl in the picture made Stolas's mood sink, and he dropped his chin against Blitzo's pillow-tummy.
"Yeah... I want to do good and make Father proud, I just wish I could pick who I was with."
"Hey, don't squish the baby!" Blitzo said, and Stolas jolted back up.
"Sorry, sorry!"
Blitzo laughed. "Aw, it's okay. Pillow-babies are meant to be laid on anyway." He flicked at a stray feather on Stolas's head, and Stolas carefully set himself back down, arms curled around his head as he looked up at Blitzo. He had a smile that made Stolas's heart feel warm and goopy, and he couldn't remember being this close to anyone for this long except the butler. Blitzo pet his fingers through Stolas's head, seemingly fascinated by the texture. They were a little sweaty, but Stolas leaned into the touch as Blitzo spoke again. "If she's really mean, then I'll just have to come back and bop her for you."
"You'd really do that for me?"
"If I could find the time in my busy schedule, doing all kinds of boss-y things," Blitzo said. "Then you could run away to the circus with your baby and do prince-y tricks, and we can hang out all the time. You can do tricks, right?"
"I can eat almost a whole mouse in one swallow," Stolas offered. "And I can turn my head all the way around."
Blitzo stared at him for a moment before pushing his head down so it was muffled in the greasy-popcorn-sweat smell of Blitzo's shirt, and Stolas found himself laughing. "We'll work on it."

Chef Zemo AU! 👨‍🍳
Gender neutral reader
Collage by @realremyd
[Previous chapter] - [Next chapter]
Part 6
You are hereby invited to the grand opening of The Iron Grill. Doors will open at 7PM. Tables are reserved for guests.
See you there.
You look at the intricate invitation in Zemo's hand. Glancing up at him, you bite the inside of your cheek in concern. Helmut was disheveled. He was glaring down at the gold lettering on the card.
You reach out brush his hair back into place the best you could. Your touch causes him to look up at you in silence. His big broken eyes are soft, his lips slightly parted.
"He came to see you, it's only fair you go see him," you say softly. You rest your hand on his cheek, thumb brushing along his cheekbone in gentle motions.
"Will you come with me?" He asks, voice quiet and soft. There was a slight pleading look in his eyes.
"Do you want me to?"
"Yes."
You nod subtly. He tilts his head into your palm ever so slightly. You smile.
Sam excuses himself from the kitchen. When he's gone, Helmut raises his hand to place over yours, taking it in his and lowering it from his face. He takes a step closer to you.
"I need you."
Your gaze flickers between his eyes as he stands in front of you.
"Alright."
He brings your hand to his lips and kisses it, before slowly turning around to look at the mess he had made.
You let go of him and step over the mess, kneeling down to start clearing up. He kneels down to, but only to take your hand in his once more, stopping you from picking up anything.
"Don't. I'll deal with this."
You shake your head.
"I want to help. Let me help, Helmut."
He looks at you. He's not going to force you out, and he doesn't want you to leave, not really. He nods and let's go of your hand, gathering things from the floor.
He can't resist teasing you a little, however.
"I thought I told you I have only one name in the kitchen."
You glance up at him.
"Right. Chef."
His lips curl up into a grin. He is looking more like the Helmut Zemo you had come to know.
Both of you tidy the kitchen, Zemo teasing you here and there, while you spent a little bit of time becoming acquainted with hi kitchen.
When you were both done, you head out into the front. A few customers had come in. Zemo and Sam nod at one another. The table that Stark had used was now clear.
Zemo looked at you.
"I shall let you get on with your day. See you tonight?"
"Yes. See you tonight. I'll meet you here?"
He nods.
Helmut stands by the door of his beloved restaurant as you leave, waving at you with a smile as you turn to look at him once more.
This man was head over heels for you.
When you return to the hotel, Wanda is there. She smiles at you as you enter. You can tell by the look on her face that she wants to know everything.
You stand beside her bed, of which she was sitting on, and smile at her.
"Go on, ask."
"How was it?"
You sat down on your bed and looked at her. There was a happy smile on your face, one that lit up your entire expression.
"It was fun."
"Tell me more. I want to know all about your future husband," she grins.
"Wanda!"
"Come on, tell me!"
You sigh softly and look at her.
"I had fun. I really did. We made a paella for Stark. Helmut showed me how to do it. Even let me have a go here and there, though I mostly just handed him the ingredients. It was nice spending so much time with him."
"I hear a but coming."
"Well, kind of. I think he really likes me. He really wants me to move out here. He wants to see me every day. He even offered me job."
"That's good though! He likes you."
"Yeah, it's just a huge ask. Also, we're going to dinner tonight."
"Look at you! Your first date! Or does today count as a date?" She looks deep in thought. You roll your eyes.
"It's not a date! Stark invited Helmut to his restaurant tonight. It's the grand opening. Helmut asked me to go with him."
"That sounds like a date to me," she grins at you.
"It's not a date."
"Still, you have to look nice. Not just for your handsome chef, but also for Stark. I looked him up while you were gone. He's a big deal in America, you know. He has several restaurants across the States. Many small businesses have closed up shop because they couldn't compete with his business," she tells you.
"Don't say that. I can't tell Helmut that! The restaurant is his pride and joy," you say, worried.
"I'm just telling you what I know. Go there tonight, see what the deal is. You never know, it might not take off over here. This is his first restaurant outside of the US."
"His first?"
"Yeah," she confirms.
"I wonder why he chose Sokovia of all places. Don't get me wrong, I love it here, but you would think someone like him would pick a more popular country."
"Yes, you would, wouldn't you?" The look she gives you makes you wonder if she's suspicious about all of this.
"I'll see what happens tonight then."
She nods and stands up.
"We have to get you an outfit. Something that will blow him away," she looks you up and down.
"Stark, or Helmut?"
"Helmut, obviously. We need to make him fall in love with you more."
You just shake your head with a laugh. What would you do without Wanda Maximoff in your life? You would never know.
Wanda took you shopping right then and there.
When evening came around, you stood with Wanda in your hotel room. She smiled at the outfit you had chosen. Nothing too fancy, but something stylish that stood out just enough. It should be enough to catch Helmut's attention, and be enough for Stark's restaurant.
"You look amazing!"
"Thank you!"
You felt amazing. You look at yourself in the mirror once more and then let Wanda basically ban you from the hotel room. You weren't allowed back in until after dinner.
You made your way to Zemo's restaurant. He was stood outside the double doors waiting for you. He was dressed smart, neatly ironed shirt, slacks, loafers that looked brand new. A casual, yet smart, blazer hugging him nicely, just tight enough to define the muscles in his arms.
You forced yourself to look at his face before you got carried away.
He looks so taken back when his eyes land on you. His eyes scan you up and down, stunned by how good you looked.
You smiled, rather shyly because of the way he was looking at you, at him and came to a stop in front of him.
"Hi."
"Hello. You look... wonderful."
"Thank you," you could feel your face getting warm. The way this man can make you feel so shy felt bewildering to you. "You look really good too."
Helmut glances down at his outfit.
"I maybe a little under-dressed compared to you, but we certainly make a fine pair. Shall we?" He offers you his arm.
You nod and take it, both of you walking across the plaza.
"Any idea what might happen tonight?" You ask, taking in the quiet atmosphere around you. Most people had gone home by this point.
"No idea, but I won't stand by and let him insult me or my restaurant again," he says, firmly. You can see the rage flash in his eyes.
"Neither will I, Helmut."
He smiles at you. His smile is always the most dashing thing you've ever seen.
You both make the small walk to The Iron Grill with no trouble at all. It's quite busy outside and you can already tell that alone bothers Zemo. You give his arm a little squeeze and he smiles in return. You both make tour way to the door.
"Invitation?" The man at the door asks.
Helmut holds up the card Stark had left behind for him that morning. The man nods and let's you both in.
The entrance to the restaurant is buzzing just as much as outside. People, all dressed up smartly, were scattered about. You didn't really know where to look.
Stephen Strange spots you both and comes over with ease.
"Good of you to make it."
"Well, it would be rude not to come," Zemo said, biting back anything be actually wanted to say.
"Yes."
Strange led you both over to a table. Zemo stopped Strange from pulling out your chair by doing it himself. You smiled softly at Helmut for that. He sat himself down opposite you, ignoring Stephen.
Strange walked off with a sigh.
"I feel so out of place here," you say, looking around the room.
The restaurant was big. At least 2 dozen tables. The kitchen was visible right at the back, you could see chefs cooking away back there. Strange was acting ad host, guiding people to tables. The ceiling was high up, miniature chandeliers hung evenly around, right above every table. It was fancy, but not overly posh. Classy.
A bit much for a grill house, but Stark clearly had the money for it.
Speaking of, he was no where to be seen.
"Don't worry, I do too. Escorpión Morado is a family business. This is high end business. He's here to make a profit, not to make connections and provide people with comfort and love in the form of food."
You nod, agreeing.
These two were so different from each other.
Three loud claps sounded from the other end of the room. You both turned to look. Tont Stark, wearing an expensive suit, was seeking attention.
You could almost feel the way you wanted to glare at him.
"Welcome, welcome, welcome! This is the grand opening of The Iron Grill! I'm glad to see you all could make it. Many of you have flown far and wide to be here tonight."
You look around the room.
These weren't customers, these were business partners. Now you and Zemo felt even more out of place.
"It's with great pride and pleasure I present to you a taste of my menu."
He claps loudly again. Many carts come barreling out of the kitchen, each being pushed by a waiter or waitress. Each of them were dressed to the nines in carefully designed uniforms.
Whereas back at Escorpión Morado, Zemo's staff were dressed more casually, just wearing aprons with an EM stitched into them delicately.
One such cart comes to a stop next to your table. You glance at Zemo, who meets your gaze. The tall waiter pulls the sheet from over the cart and you a presented with a selection of dishes, all three shelves of the cart full with different colours and flavours.
This was... something.
Another waiter came up to the table and poured you each a glass of champagne. Tony was holding up a glass of his own.
"To The Iron Grill!"
Everyone else cheered, but you just slightly raised your glass with Zemo before taking a sip.
"Bon appetite!"
All the waiters simultaneously pick up the same plate from the cart and place it between you both.
You both take a bite each.
"So, we're here to taste test his menu?" You ask, having absolutely no opinion on what you just ate.
"It would appear so."
"We spent all that time making a paella, something from the heart, only to come here and have taste of his insanely large menu?"
Helmut sighs softly as he puts his fork down.
"It will never work. His menu is too big, no feeling is put into the cooking, everything is too basic. He isn't trying."
You reach put and place a hand on his, which is resting on the table.
"He won't last the year. Your restaurant is everything and more, he can't top that."
The way he smiles at you let's you know they he believes your words. He's thankful you came here with him tonight.
This goes on for hours. It's getting on for 10 PM when he thanks everyone for coming. Zemo pulls out your chair for you, taking your hand in his as you stand. You sigh.
You had tasted all the main courses on the menu, and then you got to choose a dessert to try at the end. Both of you chose something different so could try each others deserts.
Honestly, desert was the best thing on the menu, but that was it.
As you neared the door, Tony stopped you both from leaving.
"Will you wait just a bit longer, I want to talk to you."
Zemo reluctantly agreed.
You all waited for the restaurant to clear out before sitting down again. Stephen joined you all, offering more champagne, but neither you nor Zemo touched the flutes.
"Did you like my menu?"
You and Zemo shared a subtle look, both of you nodded, though you considered it very normal and bland compared to what Helmut serves under his roof.
"Good. We think we'll do quite nicely here. I'm going to cut to the chase, I want to buy your restaurant, use it to expand our empire."
Helmut had never stood up so fast. The bang from his fist hitting the table startled you. He was seething. If looks could kill, Stark would have taken his last breath just now. Zemo's eyes were glaring holes into the other man's skull.
Strange had the audacity to slip a cheque across the table. There were far too many zeros on it.
"No."
"Hear me out-" Stark began.
"No. The answer is no."
You stand up, taking Zemo's other hand in yours. He didn't turn his gaze away from Stark, but his hand did wrap around yours.
You glared at Stark.
"How dare you even say such a thing."
Tony didn't look at you, keeping his gaze locked on Helmut. However, he did hold up a finger at you.
"I'm not talking to you."
Helmut was going to say more, but Stark spoke first.
"I'm offering to buy your restaurant here and now before you go bankrupt due to lack of business. If I buy your restaurant, you can keep your job and your staff. However, the whole place will be remodeled in the image of The Iron Grill and I would own the building."
You scoff.
"How dare you!"
"Again, not talking to you," Stark glanced at you this time.
"No! I'm not just going to stand here and let you insult him further. You cannot have Escorpión Morado, it belongs to Helmut. It was his father's business, passed down to him, and you're just going to remodel it? Do you not care about it's history, it's importance? You have the audacity to invite us here and say this? I cannot believe you! You may be a big shot billionaire, but there are things more important than money."
You failed to notice the way Helmut had turned to look at you as you went off on your passionate speech. His eyes had softened, his lips curled up ever so slightly at the corners.
Gosh, he was so in love with you.
You were standing up for him, for all he had left. How did he get so lucky to meet you?
"Fine, but you'll see."
Stark picks up the cheque and pockets it, not once looking away from Zemo who was still looking at you.
You give a tug to Zemo's hand, he smiles as he follows you out, both of you done here.
Helmut didn't look back, unable to look away from you. Once you were back pit on the street, only then did you turn back to Helmut. You couldn't help smiling at the way he was looking at you.
"What? Why are you looking at me like that?"
"You're amazing," he grins.
"Don't be silly."
"I'm not. I mean it. The way you defended me, my restaurant, my heart could burst with joy."
"I only said the truth. He can't have Escorpión Morado, don't give it to him!"
"Over my dead body."
"Don't say that!" You stand in front of him, frowning at him.
Helmut just chuckles softly and let's go of your hands to place his on your face. He holds you gently, just looking at you with a goofy smile.
"Stark will not have my restaurant. Not if I can help it. You'll see, his very own will fail within the year."
"I believe you," you say, softly.
"Stay."
"Helmut..."
"Stay, please."
"I can't."
His dark brown eyes flicker between yours with a pleading gaze. He was so desperate to keep you here beside him, to keep you in his life.
But you had to leave.
He needed to give you a reason to stay. A reason so big that, even when you go home, you'll never forget it.
He kisses you.
He's quick and swift in kissing you. Your mind blanks as all you can feel are his lips on yours, his hands on your face.
You're kissing him back.
You just melt. You give in. You want it.
You can't bring yourself to stop him.
You're utterly in love with him and now he knows it. He can feel it. Just like how you can feel his love for you.
He was a reason to stay.
He pulls away, but does not move his hands. He gives a goofy smile as he looks at you.
"Stay."
All you can do is smile at him.

Stay Peachy: Kwamibuster
Summary: With Ladybug out of commission Chat Noir is the only one who can stop Kwamibuster... If only everyone would just work with him here!
---------------------------------
"Let me get this straight. Tikki's captured. Ladybug's powerless and captured, I was this close to losing you too but you won't tell me where Master Fu is? Am I missing anything?" Adrien asked Plagg.
Plagg twitched nervously. "But- but-"
"You have five seconds to give me a good alternative or we're going to see Fu," Adrien announced.
"You could distract Kwamibuster while Ladybug escapes!" Plagg tried.
Adrien crossed his arms and glared. "I said a good alternative! You getting caught isn't good for anyone!"
"Might be good for Ladybug?" Plagg shrugged his arms and gave his most convincing grin.
"Sure! I'll just hand Papillon the other kwami he needs while I have to use a banana suit to protect my identity or something!" Adrien replied sarcastically.
"You'd love that wouldn't you." Plagg knew Adrien. There was a good chance-
The sound of a door being blown off it's hinges echoed down the hallway as Kwamibuster started searching the floor they were on. "Where are you, little cat? I already have a ladybug for my insect collection. Now I just need a small mammal!"
Plagg gave his best kitty cat eyes.
Adrien didn't budge.
Plagg's arms drooped. "Okay, okay! Let's just get outa here first!"
"Knew you'd see things my way." Adrien smirked.
---------------
Master Fu was having a nice, calming, afternoon tea with Wayzz when there was an insistent banging at his door. Wayzz hiding at the sound.
The Guardian sighed. "Who could that be?"
The banging got louder.
"Patience! I am coming! What's the big-"
A blond headed blur shot in and slammed the door shut.
"So this is where you live. Nice place ya got here. Ladybug's in trouble and I need more Miraculous!" Adrien's words tumbling out in a rush as his heartbeat jumped up his throat. Maybe I should have used the window.
"Chat Noir!?" Fu's eyes nearly popping out of his head in surprise.
"Sorry, Master." Plagg appeared, uncharacteristically serious, ears low. "It was an emergency."
"Plagg!?" This was unprecedented! Yes, the Kwami of Destruction was the most free spirited of those in the Miracle Box. But even he knew the importance of secrecy! "What are you doing-"
"Ladybug's in trouble! I just said that!" Adrien supposed he could have worded it better... But also: Ladybug was in trouble! And he was in a hurry!
The Guardian glanced from boy to kwami. Who nodded. "Very well," Fu conceded. Going to the gramophone and entering the code. Bringing out the Miracle Box which he set in its usual place when Marinette came. "Adrien Agreste, choose an ally to help you on this mission. Remember that they mist return the Miraculous once the mission is complete."
Adrien stared as the Miracle Box opened. Kneeling down in imitation of the Guardian's pose. He hadn't known there were so many Miraculous! One of them surely had the power to help! Only...
"What is it Chat Noir?"
Adrien looked up at Master Fu's face. "I dunno what most of these do."
The Guardian sighed. "This is exactly why it should be Ladybug who chooses the temporary hero."
"Hey, it's not my fault you decided she was the only one who could know things!" So this is what being Chat Noir without the mask felt like. "I'm-" Adrien paused as a thought hit him. "Oh. Oh!"
"... Yes?" Master Fu prompted.
"I just realized how dumb it is that I'm not supposed to know the temporary heroes secret identities."
Fu blinked. "Excuse me?"
Adrien shook his head to get his thought process back on track. "Anyway!"
"Chat Noir, what did you mean by-"
"No time!" Adrien pointed at the Miraculous. "Teach!"
Grumbling something about manners Fu acquiesced.
Skipping over the ones Adrien already knew the Guardian quickly ran down the list. The Pig could show you your deepest desire? Seemed like it'd be a good distraction. The Dragon had how many abilities!? Overpowered but okay. The Mouse could make little copies of you. Heh, that sounded adorable but-
"That's it!" Adrien interrupted Fu to grab the Fox and Mouse Miraculous. Which he promptly put on.
"What are you doing!?" The Guardian exclaimed. "No holder has ever used three Miraculous before! It's too dangerous!"
"Well, I don't know who Rena Rouge is and I'm not gonna spend any more time looking!" Adrien turned to the materializing Fox and Mouse kwamis. "Sorry, we're in a bit of a hurry."
"Oh, aren't we always? Name's Trixx."
"Mullo!"
"Alright. Mullo, transforme-moi!"
Multimouse took a moment to adjust to the unfamiliar magic of his new suit.
"I really don't think this is the best course of action," Fu said, attempting to dissuade the young boy.
"Relax, Master! I'll keep him out of trouble!" Trixx announced.
Multimouse nodded as he opened a window. "Thanks. Now, c'mon Trixx, Plagg. I'll explain the plan on the way!" So saying, he launched himself skyward.
Wayzz finally emerged from his hiding place, floating towards his holder.
Fu looked at his kwami. "Oh, I hope he doesn't collapse on the way."
---------------
"True or false? Ladybug has disguised herself as Mr. Banana!"
Marinette was not having a good day. First, Chat Noir's kwami almost reveals her identity. Then, Tikki got captured! And now that tomcat was nowhere in sight. Marinette had barely escaped from Kwamibuster the first time and now she was cornered mere meters from the exit!
"Uh, stay peachy?!" Marinette ran for it.
But Kwamibuster leapt over her and grabbed her wrist. "You can't get away from me!"
"CHARGE!"
From the doorway came a whole swarm of kwamis! Flitting about Kwamibuster and distracting her enough for Marinette to get away.
"You can't get away from me!" Kwamibuster chased after them as they sped off. "You're no match for Kwamibuster!"
"Ladybug!"
Turning around, Marinette saw Plagg and a little guy holding onto his ears. She blinked, this was the first time she saw the Mouse Miraculous in action.
"It's me!" he declared, grinning. "Chat Noir! Or Multimouse, I guess."
"Chat Noir!?" But that meant- No, no, she could panic about that later. "Well, then you must need my Miraculous." Marinette reached for her earrings.
"Uh, no? Why would you think that?"
"Because... Nevermind. What's the plan?"
Multimouse winked. "You'll see. Make your way back to the roof!" And zipped away before Ladybug could ask more questions.
"... A Chat Noir plan. This oughta be interesting."
---------------
"I will capture you all!"
Kwamibuster laughed maniacally as she shot her beam at the Plagg reskins. Made by Multifox with his Mirage. And that wasn't the only part of the illusion.
"I have to say. I think Ladybug will be impressed," Plagg stated. Floating directly above the supervillain so she would need to crane her neck straight up to spot them.
"It has to work first," Multimouse replied. Still standing on top of Plagg's head. His small army made their way into position.
Now!
Multimouse's invisible doubles launched their indestructible ropes at Kwamibuster. Becoming visible as they wrapped her up like Gulliver on Lilliput.
"What!? What's going on!? Oof!" She toppled none too gently.
Wasting no time Plagg zipped down.
"No! You can't beat Kwamibuster!" She freed her blaster hand.
"Mullo, Plagg, unify!"
"Aha!" Twisting upwards she aimed the beam at Multimouse.
"Cataclysm!"
Adrien's power touched the tip of her barrel and the rust spread from it to her pack. Freeing Tikki as dark mist transformed Kwamibuster back into Mme. Mendeleiev.
Adrien merged himself back together as the akuma flew past him. "Uh, Ladybug!"
A red blur shot out and caught the akuma before it could get far. Ladybug releasing a white butterfly in its place.
Multimouse grinned. "Perfect timing as always, My Lady."
"I dunno about that." Ladybug looked around at the destroyed rooftop.
"You think it'll work without a Lucky Charm?" Multimouse asked, following her train of thought.
Ladybug looked at her yo-yo. "The akuma was purified so it should." Throwing it skyward with a little more strength than usual she called out the words. "Miraculous Ladybug!"
The cure swept around them as Ladybug's yo-yo fell back into her hands.
"Knew you could do it," Multimouse praised. "Now, I've got some errands to run-" he tapped the two Miraculous necklaces "-so you take care of Mme. Mendeleiev."
He half turned. "Oh! And sorry about my kwami. No idea what he was doing at that primary school."
"It was a- lycée, yeah. Lycée."
"Right!" He grinned. "A lycée." Totally not a collège. Giving Ladybug a two finger salute he leapt off the tower. Mme. Mendeleiev's insistence on the validity of her scientific discovery fading behind him.
---------------
Adrien held out his index finger to shake the kwamis' hands. "You were both a big help! Thanks."
"You weren't so bad yourself, Chat Noir," Trixx grinned.
"Yeah!" Mullo agreed. "Usually Plagg's holders are no fun but you ran circles around that kwami snatcher!"
Adrien blushed a little at their praise. "Hope we can work together again someday." The kwamis waved as they reentered their Miraculous.
Master Fu closed the Miracle Box once Adrien placed them back inside. Returning it to its hiding place. "It is quite impressive that you withstood the power of three Miraculous long enough to accomplish your task."
"... Actually it was super easy. Barely an inconvenience."
The Guardian blinked. "What?"
Adrien nodded. "Yeah, I don't think occasionally using two or three Miraculous at once is all that dangerous. Maybe if you wore a whole bunch of 'em. But why would you do that?"
Fu processed that for a bit.
Adrien sipped from his tea, awkwardly. "... So does this mean I finally get Guardian training?"
Master Fu nearly slipped as he sat back down. "Huh?"
"I mean, I already know where you are. And we've seen that if Ladybug is compromised it's better if I know what to do," Adrien reasoned out logically.
"I... That is... Uh..." Fu looked desperately at Plagg, who was gorging himself on cheese.
"Hey, don't look at me. Kid's got a point." Plagg swallowed another wedge of Camembert.
Fu slumped with a sigh. Clearly outmaneuvered. "Where should we start?"
"Potions!" Adrien exclaimed, eyes sparkling. This was going to be fun. He could feel it!

Jerome Valeska x Reader
I'm still tryna speed up events here because I rlly rlly wanna get to the good part i have planned okay
Series Summary: Two lives can start very differently, but it's never the beginning that makes the story. It's the the journey the lives take that eventually bring them down the same path.
Chapter Warnings: mentions of death, fluff, angst, mentions of murder.
Tumblr media
After a few days with Galavan's personal health worker, I began to feel like brand new. Jerome had been right by my side nearly the entire time, minus the moments when he and Galavan were plotting the next Maniax strike.
I wished I could attend the big blow out at the police station tomorrow, because I would hate to miss such a big event. I also wanted them to know I was still alive, and that they couldn't just kill me so easily. I wasn't necessarily a force to be reckoned with, but I certainly wasn't a pansy that would die with one shot.
I got up more on my feet with each day since the shot, and I thought myself to be ready enough for the grand mission, though Galavan insisted I stay. As much as it pained Jerome to see the look on my face, he agreed as well.
"You just got the stitches out yesterday, just stay here and I'll be back before you know it." He rubbed up and down my arms. The scene was sweet and momentous, as if a man was leaving his girl for a business affair, and would return for her when he was finished. However the task at hand was far from a business affair.
"I know.... Just promise you'll get that cop that shot me?" I asked, glancing up at him with a sad look upon my features.
"Of course, princess. He'll pay for what he did to you." Jerome's voice got darker when he neared the end of his words, his hand coming down to the spot on my side that was still healing. I couldn't really even feel it anymore, but the pain around it still made me a little sluggish.
"Be careful, I don't need you getting shot too." I said, straightening out his uniform, which was an exact replica of the one's the GCPD wore.
"We'll be okay. Galavan is sending in backup this time, so there won't be any chances." He convinced me, and I knew he would do a great job. He always did. His showmanship, his stage presence, all were charismatic details about him that made him special. He was purely captivating.
"You know, you'd be a good looking cop.... if you were into that sort of thing." I laughed.
"Abiding by the law is not as fun as breaking it, my dear." He said in a sing song voice, turning the end into a long whistle. He was a great whistler, and when I wanted to hear a certain song he gave it every time.
"That's certainly true. Go get em, tiger." I said, pressing a firm kiss to his lips and sitting back on the heels of my feet. He was unsatisfied with that, pulling me back in for one more. "I love you, ya psycho."
"I love you more, ya little maniac." He wrapped his arms around me one last time, holding me close to his chest before he was off. He turned back around from the door, tipping his hat to me and winking.
When he was gone I sighed, leaning against one of the bedframe's giant colums. He was such an amazing boy, truly. He was going to rule the world someday, whether he knew it or not. Gotham was going to bend to his will.
The amount of people that feared him was many, but I had a feeling the amount of people who believed in him would be bigger. Sure, he was a matricidal freak that escaped an asylum where he'd been held since his first murder... everyone has to start somehwhere. He was going to make people see him a little differently.
-
Later that night, when Jerome was safe and sound, back at Galavan's penthouse, we got nestled down into bed and watched as they rolled the footage of today's massacre on the news. I smiled as I saw the tape recording begin to play. They even put out a viewer discretion warning before they played Jerome's clip.
"Ya hear that? I might be disturbing to some viewers." He laughed his signature maniacal cackle, and already I had a smile on my face.
While watching the video, I couldn't help but admire the way he looked. So happy to be in his element, and simply taking it all in. His little speech to the citizens of Gotham had me in stitches, but also gave me goosebumps. He was quite the entertainer, and he knew it.
The clip ended on his laugh again, and boy did it make me feel things. This crazy ginger did things to me that he didn't even realize. I could go on and on about the way his smile made me weak, or how the way he spoke gave me chills, but in this moment I simply felt like showing him how he made me feel.
I threw my leg over him, sitting up so that I straddled him on either side. He didn't even act surprised, he just smiled and quirked an eyebrow, as if he was somehow expecting this to happen.
"Am I in for it?" He questioned, already knowing the answer but pining for it anyway.
"You have no idea."
-
The morning after, I awoke to an empty bed. I wasn't disappointed, for I must have overslept by a lot for Jerome to have already gotten up without disturbing me whatsoever. He wasn't really an early riser, so the fact that he was not only awake, but out of bed before me was a shock.
I pulled on the shirt he'd tossed to the floor and a pair of underwear, making sure that the shirt was long enough to cover up without needing shorts. When I found that the shirt hung by my knees, I left the room, content on my journey around the penthouse to find my boyfriend.
I stepped inside the main room to find Galavan and Jerome leaned over a table, discussing important plans. Galavan noticed me enter first, and without shame he looked me up and down. I wasn't necessarily as fun to look at as Barbara, but I suppose in my state of dress I could be found desirable. Too bad I only had eyes for the ginger.
When Jerome caught the stare Galavan was giving me, specifically my legs, he walked over and blocked me from the older man's view. I wasn't sure what the meaning was, for I didn't know the harm that was being done, but Jerome stood in his place unwavering.
"I'm sorry I left so early, but we've got big news." Jerome smiled, grabbing both sides of my waist and pulling me closer.
"Tell me." I said enthusiastically.
"I get to kill my father tomorrow.... and you're gonna help me. After that we're gonna crash a charity ball." He spoke with such fluidity and excitement to the death of his father, who, by understanding, was just as much of a jerk as his mother.
"Murder?" Something changed in my eyes, they became dark and infatuated with the idea of driving his father to the place of death his mother currently was.
"Murder..." he said seriously, with a spooky, eerieness to his tone, but then his smile spread and his laugh gave me small chuckles of my own.
We had a busy day tomorrow.

Chapter Four
Tumblr media
Nora I
Nora was in one of the nicer cells. She didn't like to brag, but she had been arrested often enough to know the difference. And she had the cell to herself, which was new and different. Normally, the Corrie Guard shoved as many beings into each cell as they could manage without crushing anyone.
Soon enough, some of the more violent members of Clone Rights filled the surrounding cells. Even then, Nora's cell remained single-occupancy.
"You gonna get us outta this one, Czajak?" a male Bothan named Esk Meh'reer asked through the transparisteel barrier.
"Of course, Meh'reer," Nora said with a scoff. "We didn't even do anything. This one'll be easier than any of the other times."
"Well, you didn't do anything," Meh'reer told her with a grin. "We may have defaced some property after we saw you get arrested. Nothing too bad, though. Just tore down some signs. Oh, actually, I'm pretty sure Gadi threw a bench."
Nora rolled her eyes at the mention of the exuberant Lasat. "Gadi always throws something. I think she cares more about throwing stuff around than she does about getting rights for clones, but at least she's on our side."
"Hey, our cells share a wall!" Gadi cheered, pushing herself out of the crowd as if she had been summoned. "Want me to see if I can throw this bed?"
"Probably not, Gadi," Nora discouraged. "It'll be a lot harder to fight the charges if we start breaking things inside of the precinct."
"Aw, you'll be able to get us out of it," Gadi told her. "You're the best lawyer on Coruscant!"
Nora chuckled and shook her head, choosing not to tell her fellow protesters that she may not be a lawyer much longer if she kept doing this. Her boss had already threatened to demote her after he had found out about her work. Was it a bad thing that she had a tendency to defend protesters pro bono?
"Nora Czajak," a clone trooper announced, opening the door to Nora's cell. "You're being charged, come with me."
Surprise made Nora slow. The charges were almost never filed this quickly. She had been arrested less than twelve hours ago! Still, the sooner she knew how bad things were going to be, the sooner she could start forming a defense for herself and the others. Gamely, she rose and followed the trooper, admiring his red-accented armor as she went.
When she stepped from the room, cheers erupted from the surrounding cells.
"Go, Nora!"
"Give 'em hell!"
"Pinch that guy's ass while you're in there!"
"Gadi…" Nora sighed to fight back a chuckle. The temptation to laugh grew worse when she turned and found that the trooper had stopped and was staring at her. She couldn't see through his helmet, obviously, but she would have bet that he looked less than thrilled. With her most professional lawyer smile, she said, "Following you, sir."
He shook his head a little bit and kept walking. They passed another red-accented trooper as they walked, and he leaned in a bit to place his helmet's speakers next to Nora's ear. "If you pinch Thorn's shebs, I'll transfer you twenty credits."
"Will that be worth the jail time for harassment, though?" she asked with a conspiratorial grin.
He shrugged. "It would be for me."
"Thire, leave her alone," her escort - presumably Thorn - ordered. "I have to take her to see Stone."
Stone was one of Nora's favorite troopers, and she didn't even need Thorn's guidance to find her way to his office. Thorn gave a polite knock on the door. "Nora Czajak for you, Commander."
"Stone! How are you? Did you redecorate the office?" Nora asked, breezing into the office like it was her own.
Stone blinked at her. "Of course I didn't redecorate. When would I have redecorated? You were here last week."
"That is a difficult point to argue," she conceded.
"I'm sure you'll figure out a way," Stone said dryly. "Thank you, Commander Thorn."
As soon as Thorn had left, Nora crossed her legs comfortably and leaned forward to stare at Stone. "So, what's it going to be this time, Commander? A fine, some jail time..?"
"Neither," Stone told her shortly, crossing his arms over his chest. It would have looked more natural if he weren't in full armor - minus the helmet - but Nora had to admit that there was something intimidating about the dull crack of plastoid meeting plastoid. "Command has decided that fines don't seem to work for you. And every time you spend more than a few days in jail, you come out with more violent followers for your Clone Rights group. Then those followers trash the city even worse in your next demonstration. It's a vicious cycle."
"Mm, such a conundrum," Nora agreed. "What's the solution, Stone?"
"Community service."
Now, it was Nora's turn to blink in confusion. "Community service? My sentence is community service?"
"Yeah, a hundred hours of it," he said, shaking his head a bit.
"And- what about the others? What are they getting sentenced to?"
"Community service," Stone repeated, sounding almost as confused as she was. "All of the demonstrators we arrested are serving time. Not as much as you, but it'll all be community service."
Nora opened her mouth, closed it, and opened it again. "Stone, this is stupid. What is going on? Community service is for parking violations and cursing at shop-keepers. You have us dead to rights on destruction of property, disturbing the peace, and intention to incite a riot. What are you doing?"
"Are you asking for a harsher punishment?" Stone asked with a twinkle in his brown eyes.
"Of course not!" she snapped. "It's just suspicious. Since when does the Coruscant Guard let violations like this slide?"
"Since today," he said with a shrug. "Orders straight from Head Commander Fox himself."
"Head Commander Fox?" Nora asked, distracted by the mention of the clone trooper she had met the previous night. He had been willing to debate her in a cruiser on the way back to the precinct. His method of forming an argument had been clumsy, but his points had been valid. It was a welcome distraction from the unpleasantness of the march's end. And here she was, finding out that Fox was actually the commander in charge of the other commanders. "What was a Head Commander of the GAR doing babysitting a Clone Rights march?"
"Maybe he wanted to come see your model behavior first-hand," Stone told her sarcastically. At Nora's sharp look, he relented. "Fine. Commander Fox doesn't pass duties along. He does everything he asks his men to do. That includes supervising marches, pulling patrols, and booking troublemakers."
Ignoring the pointed implication that she was a troublemaker, Nora changed the subject. "Who is going to be supervising my community service hours?"
"That'll be…" Stone consulted a page in front of him before answering - though how he found a single piece of flimsi in the disaster zone that was his desk was beyond Nora. "Trooper Beam. He's in charge of community service efforts. Poor evaar is gonna have his work cut out for him, supervising your protesters."
"That has to be about seventy people," she argued. "One trooper can't supervise all of us."
"That's his job," Stone said with a shrug.
Nora leaned back, lost in thought. "You know, it would be terrible of me to expect one trooper to supervise all of the arrested Clone Rights members and all one-hundred hours of my own community service. I should really request to be assigned to another Coruscant Guard trooper."
"Who were you thinking?" Stone's voice was filled with wariness.
Nora peered thoughtfully around the room. The morning sunlight didn't even reach this part of Coruscant. Instead, the light from a nearby holo-ad provided the only outside light in the commander's office.
When she felt Stone staring at her impatiently, Nora smirked and answered, "Why, Head Commander Fox, of course."

Fox II
It had been a long night, and it promised to be an even longer day. Fox was already on his second set of stims, and he still had an estimated twenty hours before he could think about collapsing in his quarters.
At that particular moment, he was talking to Sergeant Hound about some woman the sergeant was processing. He was trying, anyway. Fox's attention was far away. Part of him was trying to calculate how long it had been since he had last slept while the rest of him was trying to calculate how long he had until he could sleep again.
"So, what do you think, Commander?" Hound asked, bringing Fox's attention back to him.
"You know I trust you, Hound," Fox told the trooper, patting him on the shoulder. "Do what you think is best."
"Really? Thank you, sir!" Hound said, face brightening.
Briefly wondering what he had just agreed to, Fox turned away and was immediately met with Commander Stone beckoning him over.
"Sir, I need you to come speak with the woman I'm sentencing."
"You know you're the one in charge of sentencing, Commander Stone," Fox reminded.
"I know, sir, but she's requesting that you oversee her community service personally," Stone told him.
Fox's brows lifted before he could stop the expression. "And that is Trooper Beam's area." Honestly, what was the point of dividing the Coruscant Guard into departments if everyone was going to ask him to do their job anyway?
"Yes, sir, but…" Stone sighed, looking more defeated than Fox had ever seen him. "Can you please come tell her that? She won't take my refusal as a proper answer."
Fox shook his head, but started for Stone's office. "Who is this woman?"
"Nora Czajak."
"Kriff, no," Fox refused before he could think better of it.
"You're lucky I'm not easily offended, Head Commander," Czajak said, appearing in the doorway of Stone's office.
"I won't oversee your community service," Fox snapped.
"Maybe you should step inside, Commander," Stone wearily advised. "She has a full argument ready."
Well, he could at least hear her out. Fox entered Stone's office, immediately feeling as though a trap had been sprung when the other commander shut the door - with himself on the outside. Fox cracked the door open enough to peer out. "Stone, aren't you coming?"
"Kriff, no, Commander," Stone denied. "I'm going to get some caf and maybe some alcohol. Good luck."
When Fox turned back around, he found that Nora had seated herself in Stone's chair behind the Commander's desk. Everything was a power game for her. Since he refused to give her the satisfaction of asking her to leave the seat, Fox walked to the transparisteel window beside her. He peered outside, as if an advertisement for nerf steaks was the most interesting thing he had seen all day.
"I still won't oversee your community service," Fox's tone was blunt.
"You look like hell," Czajak's tone was also blunt, and he almost turned to look at her, but caught himself in time. "Don't you sleep?"
Even the mention of sleep was enough to make his eyes burn. "I'm a busy man, Czajak. Too busy for sleep and too busy to supervise community service hours."
"Maybe you should sit down before you fall down, Commander."
He scoffed, still staring out of the window. "I don't need your pity."
A moment later, a hard bump against the back of his knees had Fox falling backward into a chair he vaguely recognized as the one that sat behind Stone's desk. Czajak stepped around him, shaking her head, and sat down in a guest chair. Fox frowned. She had given up a position of power, the implied high ground in this office.
"I think you should be the one to oversee my community service," she started.
"I disagree," Fox countered.
"You are the one who decided that community service was the right answer for members of Clone Rights who were arrested, yes?" He nodded, already searching for the trap in her question. "How is it fair for you to put that much work on your trooper in charge of overseeing it? He didn't ask for so much responsibility."
Why was this woman always fighting to infantilize him and his brothers? "I assure you, Beam is fully capable of withstanding the stress."
"Well, I would hate to put him in such a bad position," Czajak mused. "I probably would feel so guilty that I would skip all my community service appointments."
"Then you'll be arrested for failure to appear."
"And I'll be sentenced to jail time, in which I will gain more followers," she said with a satisfied smile. "That's the fear, correct?"
Kriffing Stone and his running mouth. Fox gritted his teeth. "If you fail to appear for appointments, I will take the appropriate measures to ensure that you pay your debt to society."
"I'm sure you would," Czajak agreed easily. Too easily. "However, would it not be more simple to agree to oversee my community service yourself? We could avoid all of the unpleasantness for the low price of one-hundred hours of your time."
"You couldn't afford that low price," Fox snorted.
Czajak's eyes glinted in amusement. "How about this, then? Your men rave about your leadership and how you never ask them to do anything you wouldn't be willing to do yourself. I know most of your men consider me to be the worst of the worst. I received the highest number of required community service hours. By taking on the responsibility of… well, of me, you would be proving that your willingness to do all aspects of the job is true in every situation."
Fox's head ached as he tried to find a way of refuting her point. It was a solid argument and she knew it from the way she was smiling at him. He suddenly understood why Commander Stone had refused to come to this part of the meeting.
"Fine," he ground out, voice low and harsh. "I'll oversee your community service. I don't know why you're being so insistent about it, but it won't be fun. You'll show up when and where I tell you, and stay as long as I deem fit. And if I hear a single complaint from you, I'll toss you in a cell, new followers be karked. Understood?"
"Perfectly, Commander," Czajak agreed. She was all demure compliance now that she had gotten her way. "Please notify me with the details of our first meeting."
"Consider yourself dismissed," Fox growled at her.
Czajak winked and rose to leave. As she opened the door, Fox heard Chase say, "Ouch! That one pinched me!"
"We talked about this, Gadi!" Nora lectured, leaving Stone's door to close behind her.
Fox rubbed at the lines between his brows. For his own sake, he took a moment to breathe before he had to go deal with whatever that was about.
---
Ransom I
"Okay, the Commander said I was cleared to deal with you as I see fit."
The sentence may have been worded as a threat, but Ransom could sense no malice in the trooper's tone. It didn't matter either way. She had been arrested too many times to count. There was nothing this pleasant-faced officer could do that would frighten her. Well, short of throwing her to his massiff. Even then, she was certain that she would do a great deal of damage before it could take her down.
"Whoa, what's with that face?" he asked, and Ransom immediately smoothed her expression.
"Just waiting for this to be over."
"I also treasure our time together," he smiled, reaching out a hand as if to pat her on the arm. Ransom was a comical distance away, seated on the other side of a wide desk, and she raised one eyebrow in his direction.
"Good news is that I think I've finally located your file," he said, not deterred by her lack of response. He hadn't been all day, actually. Ransom wasn't willing to work with him at all. She believed that he shouldn't need to read through a history of her life to know that the alterations to her cybernetics were illegal and needed to be removed or licensed. Instead, the trooper - who had cheerfully introduced himself several times as Sergeant Hound - had used a biometric scan to track her file.
"Ransom," Hound read from the display. He stared at her for a long moment, dark brows furrowed. "Your name is Ransom?"
"Your name is Hound," she fired back immediately. "Are you sure you want to start this fight?"
"Yeah, but most civvies have a last name."
"Why would I need a last name?" Ransom asked with a frown. "To keep from being confused with all of the other cybernetically-altered Coruscanti women named Ransom?"
"...That's true," Hound conceded. He turned his attention back to the screen and Ransom tensed a bit at what he would find. She braced herself for any number of unpleasant responses. In the past, she had seen everything from pity to awe to disgust, but he simply scanned through the documents - she had a lot of them - and nodded. "Well, you're being charged with disturbing the peace, but that isn't worth jail time or any significant fine. The Head Commander has been on a real community service kick lately, so we'll get you signed up for some of that."
"I'd rather take the jail time," Ransom spat out.
"No you wouldn't," Hound said seriously. "The jail is rough. Full of unsavory characters, terrible food, bad lighting. Plus, your job wouldn't take too kindly to you spending time in jail. None of them ever do. Don't you want to keep working at…" he checked the screen again, "...Red Squad?"
"Red Squad wouldn't fire me for being in jail," Ransom assured him.
"You can't know that for sure," Hound argued. "Trust me, community service is the better way to go."
"I do know for sure, actually," Ransom argued, unsure of why she was pressing the issue.
"Why, you sleeping with the boss or something?" he asked, tossing the datapad to land on the desk's surface.
Ransom smirked a bit at that. "Only in the occasional dry season. I am the boss. Owner, actually. I run Red Squad."
Hound laughed at that, and it was such a rich, cheerful sound that Ransom almost didn't mind that he was laughing at her. Almost.
"Your name is Ransom, no last name, and you own and run a business called 'Red Squad'. Are you secretly a clone trooper?"
"If I ran a squad, wouldn't that mean I outranked you?" Ransom fired back.
"Probably," he said, seeming unconcerned. "It would make you a captain, at least."
"Well, I already have a better-regulation haircut than you," she tried again. She had yet to see a member of the GAR rise to the bait about ranks - particularly the implication that a civilian outranked them - but clone troopers were notoriously fastidious about their appearance.
Hound raked a hand through his too-long hair and grinned at her. "Yeah, it's been a while since I visited the barber. Is my hair distracting you?"
"Hardly," Ransom snorted, pressing away the spark that had lit her belly at his waggling eyebrows.
"Good, then let's talk about your community service," he said. "Normally, you would be in the care of Trooper Beam, but he's recently experienced a flood of requests. I have it on good authority that he has some three thousand hours of community service to oversee after today, so I'll take care of supervising your hours. I'm thinking forty should be more than enough for something as minor as disturbing the peace. Give me your comlink information and I'll contact you for scheduling."
Ransom felt her eyes fly wide before she could bite back the response. "No."
"No?" Hound asked with a pouty sort of frown.
"You're an ARF trooper," she tried again.
Hound beamed warmly at her. "Great job! The average civilian doesn't even know what an ARF trooper is, let alone how to recognize one."
"I'm not an average civilian," Ransom told him, the response flat. "But my point is that you're an ARF. I don't want to do any community service that has to do with massiffs."
His dark eyes softened and warmed with understanding, and Ransom hated it. She didn't want - didn't need - anyone's pity. In her irritation, she lashed out. "So throw me in jail if you want to, bucket head, but I refuse to work with those beasts."
"Hey, I get it," he sympathized, face still kind. Ransom wanted to put her fist through it.
"No, you really don't," she snarled. "I'll-"
"Everything okay in here?" another trooper asked, ducking into the small office.
"Yeah, just chatting," Hound said easily, as if Ransom hadn't been in the middle of threatening him. "What are you up to, Stone?"
"Head Commander's in my office with the Czajak woman," he explained. "I needed to lie low."
"Makes sense to me," Hound gave a sympathetic grimace. "Ransom and I are going over community service options. You're usually in charge of bookings. Care to explain the process?"
"Oh, uh…" Stone hesitated. Ransom would bet that he hadn't expected Hound to actually need help. "We try to match civilians with their skills and interests."
"So you wouldn't force someone to work with an animal they have a strong dislike towards?" Ransom asked sharply, full of skepticism.
"Absolutely not," Stone answered with finality. "And if you mean the massiffs, a lot of civvies are uncomfortable around them. They're not even an option for community service, so there's no worry about that."
"Thank you, Stone!" Hound said, voice cheerful. Looking more than a bit confused, Stone gave a short nod and left. "Feel better?"
"If you knew working with massiffs wasn't an option, why didn't you tell me that?" Ransom crossed her arms over her chest.
"It seemed like you weren't really interested in listening to me," he said with a shrug.
"So you won't need my comlink information after all," she summarized.
"Now, no one said that," Hound hedged. "I can still supervise your community service."
"How?"
"Hey, I do other work around here!" he said, clearly defensive. "I can trade shifts around, pick up some duties cleaning streets or… working with- um, old people..?"
"I think I'll pass," Ransom told him with a snort.
"Suit yourself," Hound shrugged. "In that case, I'll still be the one supervising the licensing process for those cybernetic alterations."
Ransom was ready to argue, but something about the look in his eyes warned that he wouldn't give in so easily. Telling herself she would get a new frequency as soon as she was done registering the alterations, Ransom gave Hound the information he needed. She couldn't leave the precinct soon enough.

A/N - There! A full chapter without one Hound POV! Are you proud of me? I'm proud of me. And with this chapter, we've set up all of our couples! Though I might end up having to make a one-shot or side fic with Stone since I love him. This is also one of the longer chapters of this story, so congrats for getting through it!

The way that I add something to this every single day and will never post it is beyond me.
———
Here:
The sun was set, and the Hogwarts Professor was finished looking around the town of the muggle world. After the wizarding war, so much has happened, creating a new problem for everyone to face in ten years time. Dumbledore, headmaster of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, walks through Privet Drive. Taking out his Deluminator, all the street lights go out as he whisks them away, just to be consumed into his object. A cat meowed at his feet, and the bearded man looked down at her. "I should've known you'd be here ... Professor McGonagall." The feline transformed back into her human state, being what people call an animagus.
"Good evening, Professor Dumbledore." The woman walks toward the man, at his side. "Are the rumors true, Albus?" she asks curiously. There had been no greater dishonor to the Wizarding World the night where Lily and James Potter had fallen.
"I'm afraid so, Professor. The good and the bad."
Minerva looks up at Albus. "And the children?" They continue walking down the street, muggle homes surrounding it carefully.
"Hagrid is bringing them."
"Do you think it wise to trust Hagrid with something as important as this?" McGonagall asks. Minerva McGonagall had her doubts, but she trusted whatever Dumbledore would say next.
"Ah, Professor, I would trust Hagrid with my life."
The two heads of Hogwarts Professors turn around to a large light soaring toward them. It was Rebus Hagrid, coming in a motorbike. Shocked by the vehicle the children were being brought in, Minerva put a hand to her chest. "Professor Dumbledore, Sir. Professor McGonagall." The large man took off his goggles and shut off his bike that was once owned by Sirius Black.
"No problems, I trust Hagrid?"
"No sir," the man agreed. "The little tykes fell asleep while we were flying over Bristol. Heh." he transfers the fifteen month old children over to Albus and Minerva. "Try not to wake 'em. There you go." McGonagall cradles the girl, as Albus the boy. They all begin walking toward the fourth house on Privet Drive, and Minerva speaks up, worriedly.
"Albus, do you really think it's safe? Leaving them with these people? I've watched them all day, they're the worst sort of muggles imaginable. They really are-"
"The only family they have." he finishes.
"These children will be famous. There won't be a child in this world who doesn't know their name. And what about the girl's father? She has him." her elderly voice speaks. She was worried about the future, In 10 years and 5 months times will change.
"They're far better off growing up away from all of that, and her father is not ready." Albus holds the baby under the lamp light to see the boy's face clearly. He knew the girl's father was ready to raise her. He just didn't trust him enough, and her father knew that. "Until they're ready to go through that, they live here."
He took the girl away from McGonagall, and set them on their doorstep. Hagrid coughs and sniffles, he is crying. He clears his throat. Dumbledore looks back at Hagrid. "There, there, Hagrid. It's not really goodbye after all." Hagrid nods. The Professors looked back at the babies, who slept calmly wrapped in their blankets. Dumbledore set down a letter on top of the boy. "Good luck, Harry and Anastasia ... Potter." Dumbledore stuttered with the girl's last name. If she knew who her father was now it would only make everything worse, putting two people at risk. A scar was evident on Harry's forehead and Anastasia, her heart.
———
"Up! Get up!" I shoot awake, breathing heavily. Harry does too, sweat dripping down his forehead. I pet his hair and look at him sorrowfully.
"Nightmares again?" He nods at me, laying his head on my shoulder. Most of the time I was able to control myself with nightmares, Harry wasn't fully there, though sometimes they could be a pain and I'd wake up crying to him. Petunia was banging on the cupboard beneath the stairs. We slept in there. It was quite small, but at least we weren't sleeping outside. Petunia unlocks the cupboard and hits it one last time. "Now!"
Harry turns over and flicks on the lamp light, before grasping his circular glasses. I could hear Dudley's heavy footsteps coming down the stairs, but they soon came to a pause halfway. Instead, the meaty boy ran back up and jumped down the staircase. "Wake up, cousins!" I look up to see the sawdust coming from the top of the cupboard. If he jumped anymore, the whole thing would have collapsed. "We're going to the zoo!"
I push open the door and Dudley looks over the railing, only to start running down the stairs once again, laughing excitedly. I start to climb out, but Dudley pushes me back in, making me fall on top of Harry. I frown, as he slams the door with his foot, and he runs away into the kitchen.
I groan, getting back up and helping Harry out. I try to fix my hair up as much as I can, before going into the kitchen. Harry and I both had on sweats, and an oversized t-shirt. I didn't have many clothes.
Petunia told me she never really wanted to choose my style of clothing; she believed that I should choose what I like to wear and that I didn't have to wear prissy dresses every day.
Besides, Vernon would decline everything I liked.
I would sometimes borrow Harry's clothes and the clothes I had were some of my mother's but overall my clothes were baggy and oversized from my size.
Petunia was a very likable person when Vernon wasn't around. She would shower us with the same love she gave Dudley, but we could never say anything.
Harry and I loved Petunia. We never spoke back to her.
Dudley was sort of the same.
When Vernon wasn't in the house we'd do regular things that normal cousins do.
Talk and generally be friendly to one another.
Though Dudley was spoiled, he still cared.
Dudley wanted to please his father though. Which meant when Vernon was around Dudley would go all out with the annoying cousin role.
"Happy Birthday son." Vernon speaks to Dudley, as Petunia rubs her nose to his, giggling like idiots. Vernon quickly frowns, his mustache curling when he sees us. Petunia practically spits the words at us, moving Dudley out of the way. "Why don't you just cook breakfast, and try not to burn anything."
"Yes, Aunt Petunia." Harry says.
I roll my eyes at this, and Vernon grabs my arm, puncturing it with his fat hands. "Don't you roll your eyes, girl." he spits, before pushing me toward my brother. I was Harry's sister - twin sister at that; something of the few little facts Petunia gave us about our pasts. At least twins is something we like to call it if it wasn't the correct term. We don't have the same dad, but the same mom, and we were born on the same day. "You alright, Annie?"
I nod at my brother, before getting out the pans from the cabinet. I hate this place. Harry starts to cook bacon, when I get the meat out of the refrigerator. At this point I was making coffee. Vernon being the 'important' fat man he is, started yelling at me again. "Bring me my coffee, girl!"
"Yes, Uncle Vernon." I squeak out, bring him his coffee. He growls at me, seeing as there's no sugar cubes in it. I don't know why he likes them in his coffee, but he does. I drop the blocks into his drink, which makes drops of the coffee splatter onto the table. I didn't notice it, as I walked away, but as I bent down to get another pan, a knife was being hurled at me. It hangs an inch above my head stuck into the wall. I gasp and hurry to get the pan, before rushing back over to Vernon.
"Clean up this mess!" I get a handkerchief and I clean up the spilled coffee from the table. Petunia and Dudley pass me, heading towards the living room which is stacked full of vibrant presents.
"How many are there?" Dudley inquires, shocked at the gifts.
"Thirty-six. I counted." His father replies, proud of what he's gotten for him.
Dudley grows angry by the words, yelling at Vernon. "Thirty-six?!?! Last year there were thirty-seven!" He cries, stomping his heavy feet like a three year old.
"Yes well, some of them are quite a bit bigger than last year!" Vernon says, desperately trying to please his son.
I roll my eyes to Harry making him nod, irritated. "I don't care how big they are!" I slightly giggle at his choice of words.
"Oh, now, now, now. This is what we're going to do, is that when we go out we're going to buy you two new presents! How's that, Pumpkin?" Petunia calms her spoiled son with the statement, and he eagerly leads everyone outside.
The Dursleys are heading to the car. Harry and I go to get in but are stopped by Uncle Vernon.
"This will be a lovely day at the zoo. I'm really looking forward to it." Petunia smiles.
"I'm warning you two now. Any funny business, any at all, and you won't have any meals for a week. Get in." Vernon snarls.
I didn't say anything, as I didn't want to suffer more than I already did. Harry and I scramble into the car.

Two-Faced Jewel: Session 8
Welcome to the Hotel On-The-Floor, Yeah
Tumblr media
A half-elf conwoman (and the moth tasked with keeping her out of trouble) travel the Jewel in search of, uh, whatever a fashionable accessory is pointing them at. [Campaign log]
Last time, the party identified the culprit behind the murders in Barley and Wheat, but... well, it's complicated. The culprit was apparently being coerced by a dragon, and they managed to talk him down rather than fight. If they want that to stick, though, they'll need some kind of plan to get rid of that dragon. And... is it really worth bailing this guy out, anyway?
Saelhen, Oyobi, and Vayen all start discussing their plans in Elvish, which it doesn't seem like Arnie understands. Oyobi advocates for just killing the guy, but is a little less keen on the idea once Vayen advocates for the same. Saelhen would rather give the guy a chance, and points out that there's not much point to killing him as long as the dragon is still around- they'll need an answer for that, and the answer to a dragon is probably just as good an answer to Arnie.
Looseleaf, oblivious to their Elvish chatter, describes the basic plan to Arnie.
Arnie: "So you're, what... you're gonna get the church involved somehow? What're you gonna tell 'em?" Looseleaf: "Well, probably also Deathseekers," Looseleaf thinks, out loud. "We'll tell them there's a dragon conducting sacrificial rituals at the site of an altar to the god of pain. We'll get the church involved by virtue of proving to them that there's a dragon fucking around with divine shit, and we'll get the deathseekers involved by convincing them that there's a dragon stacked to the gills with cool magic items, which we'll prove by bringing them one of said items." "The important thing is to get going as soon as possible, right? There's a time-limit here measured in, uh... human... corpses..." Arnie: "Wait, how are you gonna get one of its magic items?" Looseleaf: "How do you think, mister 'I work for the dragon so he gave me a bunch of magic items to serve his dread will'?" "We'll bring the deathseekers that magic cloak you said you had." Arnie: "Uh, that's..." "Mine, though."
Eventually, after a persuasion roll or two, Arnie agrees to loan them the cloak, as long as it comes back in one piece. He also tells them how to safely retrieve it from the laundry room- as long as they exchange some dirty laundry for the clean cloak, they'll be happy and won't attack. He's got plenty lying around downstairs, which he heads down to grab.
While he's downstairs, the party confers, and decides to all go together to the nearest city- Cauterdale- to ask the local Deathseekers for aid. They figure Arnie's not a flight risk, since he doesn't have anywhere to run and a draconic boss who'll hunt him down if he tries.
(As they prepare to leave, a natural 20 on a perception roll alerts Looseleaf that Vayen has ransacked Lumiere's personal library, stealing- specifically- Lumiere's books on gods and divine magic, for some reason. She doesn't make any objection to this, though- Vayen's a creep, but it's not like they weren't all on board with looting the dead guy's tower.)
With Arnie's bloodstained laundry in hand, Looseleaf heads upstairs and retrieves the cloak without incident. She tries it out, and...
Tumblr media
The result of her crit failing her Wisdom saving throw on the magic item is... nothing, apparently. That's always good to hear! The cloak appears to work exactly as intended! She's wearing a very fancy outfit.
Further experimentation reveals a few limitations- first, the cloak's shape is illusory, so it can't become armor or anything with particular utility. Second, it can get overly literal if you ask it to copy an outfit outright- you have to use your imagination properly. Third, it seems to get tired the more you ask it to change, so there's some limit on how often you can update your wardrobe. Those appear to be the only drawbacks!
So, with Arnie temporarily kept from murdering people, the party gets back on the road.
Saelhen du Fishercrown: For caution's sake, Saelhen calligraphs a piece of paper to say WE HAVE NOT BEEN TORTURED TO DEATH, and sticks it on the door on the way out.
As they make their way northeast, they make some Animal Handling checks to keep hold of their giraffes, as something seems to spook them. Looseleaf gets a critical success and is able to calm her giraffe right away... but the party ranger, who is proficient in neither Animal Handling nor Nature nor even Survival, because what kind of monster hunter needs to know that boring crap, has no idea how to handle an overexcited giraffe and is thrown from her mount with a critical failure.
Benedict I. (GM):There's a small sign by the road, heading off west towards what appears to be an actual forest. The prairie is giving way to a somewhat hillier and more forested terrain here, but the forest is thicker than anything you've seen on your way there. And as you're approaching the crossroads marked by that sign, your giraffes all try to bolt for it. Looseleaf is able to realize that they've been forced to graze on grass for miles, and when they see the trees, they get overexcited. Vayen and Oyobi get completely thrown from their mounts, and you have to follow them down the road a bit to catch up with them and rein them in. Looseleaf: Haha, oh, well, hopefully they don't try and spend the rest of the whole day grazing a pit-stop is within tolerances but we really do have to make it to Cauterdale sooner rather than later. Many lives are on the line! Saelhen du Fishercrown: Good thing Looseleaf can radiate peace at them! Benedict I. (GM): Looseleaf is able to beckon them back before they completely get out of reach, and pretty soon you've got them calmed down- but you've lost some time. There's a choice to make here, now: continue on to Cauterdale, but make the last hour or so of the journey in the dark- or rest at the location marked on the map near here.
On the map, where the sign marked "Umbrella Village" points (shut up, I don't even play Resident Evil, don't worry about it), is simply a warning that reads "EVIL WITCHES- AVOID!!!"
Oyobi and Orluthe inform the others that "witches" usually means "druids"- and Zero cashes in something from character creation. Looseleaf's background as an academic provided her with a book on some historical topic, which was never allocated because at character creation he didn't know enough about the world to decide on something interesting. Here he declares it's a book on the history of druids!
Benedict I. (GM): Druids, from what you've read, are sort of like clerics. They channel a divinity of some sort- which is typically revered as Mother Nature, or Gaia, or... every druid you meet is going to have a different name for it, because while it needs to have a thing to call it by, it is emphatically not a god. Druids have a complicated relationship with Ccorde, who's ostensibly the goddess of environmentalism and hippy communing with nature type stuff- but most druidic traditions regard this as a false claim on a divine domain. Nature is untamed and wild and exists on its own terms, a vital force that is not to be tamed with rules- people must forge their own relationships with Nature. The author of the tome you acquired was herself a cleric of Ccorde, and the tone of the book is defensive on that subject. The author's curiosity outweighed that defensiveness, though, and there's a long section dedicated to the theoretical differences between the channeling of Nature and the channeling of Ccorde- in particular, there's no common dispositional element with druids. Whatever Nature is, it's willing to act through anyone who puts in the effort. The author didn't seem to know anything about animism, but you suspect druidic practice might be related in some way- that their nature-spirit-channeling abilities may be a form of animism. The book is unfortunately light on the practical details of druidcraft, as the author prefers that the reader eschew the practice in favor of fealty to Ccorde.
Tumblr media
Okay! So, they head down the road to stay at the druid village for the night- and notice something odd on the way, after some Nature checks. They notice that the dirt road they're going down seems to divide the forest in two- between a sparse, ivy-choked pine forest to the northeast, and a dense, healthy-looking deciduous forest to the southwest. You usually don't get such a sharp delineation between forests like that.
And Looseleaf notices... that their map doesn't show a forest on the southwest side of the road. The road is supposed to just go along the edge of the pine forest. Also, Looseleaf can see the trees' spirits there, and there's something... not quite right.
Benedict I. (GM):The left side of the woods- there does seem to be some ambient magic. Your Sight Unseen ability doesn't exactly detect magic, so much as it lets you see spirits, including the spirits of spells- but what's going on here isn't a spell effect. It's just that the spirits of these healthy-looking deciduous trees don't quite match their physical forms. Their spirits seem... sickly? Frail? Like they're not full trees, not trees that grew in their places from fallen seeds. There's something false about them.
Looseleaf: When you said 'the left side of the road is full of healthy-looking deciduous trees and the right side is full of misshaped thorny things' you know what the first thing i thought was it was, 'the left side is the dangerous side.' i didn't say it out loud but i was totally thinking that, and i am glad to have been vindicated.
The weird forest doesn't seem to be attacking them, though, so they head onward towards Umbrella Village, which seems to be built entirely on the pine side of the road. It's kind of cool-looking- every inch of available space, on the lawns, roofs, and walls, is covered in fruiting vines and various plants. The whole village is a carefully-cultivated ecosystem.
The villagers seem surprised to have visitors- apparently it's not a common occurrence. They seem normal enough, though- while they don't have an inn, they direct the party to visit the village elder, who might know where the best place for them to spend the night is.
(Oyobi once again crit-fails her Animal Handling check, and is unable to prevent her giraffe from ripping a tomato plant off the side of someone's house, which gets her scolded. Why are you a ranger, Oyobi?)
They head down to the village elder's house, which is unique in not being overgrown with crops- and knock on the door.
Tumblr media
The door is answered by a little lizardfolk girl, who doesn't have any idea what she's supposed to do about there being... people... here? People she's never seen before? Who don't live in the village? What???
Benedict I. (GM): "...Who...?" "GRANDMAAAAA," she calls back into the room. Which she didn't really need to do so loudly, because there's an elderly lizardfolk woman sitting right there next to a small fire.
Tumblr media
Looseleaf: Oh, and Looseleaf was about to ask if the little girl was the elder. Never let external appearances color your preconceptions, and all that. Benedict I. (GM): "Eh?" "Gramma there's Mysterious People!" "They don't exist!" The old woman gets up. "Who's... oh, visitors?" The little girl looks confused. "Vizza-what?" Looseleaf:"Indeed, we are emissaries from the Faraway Phantom Lands of Nonexistence," Looseleaf says in deadpan to the girl. "Behold as my incorporeal voice from out of the thin air astonishes you!" To the old lady, Looseleaf says. "Excuse us. You must be the elder?"
They inquire about a place to stay for the night, and the elder... checks the weather. Looseleaf, who has Druidcraft as a racial ability, also checks the weather, using a fancy little snowglobe spell!
Looseleaf: "I'unno, does this help?" Benedict I. (GM): "Oh, goodness. I thought you were from outside- do they..." "That's very well-done, really, and you smell delicious, but..." Saelhen du Fishercrown: uh Benedict I. (GM): "Well, it ought to be fine." Saelhen du Fishercrown: "...hmm," says Saelhen. Benedict I. (GM): "Just put your bedrolls out anywhere- we're not doing rain tonight." "Well, anywhere in town, anyway." "You shouldn't set foot in the Mysterious Woods." Saelhen du Fishercrown: "Ma'am, rest assured that we have less than no interest in Mysterious Woods."
So the party beds down in some soft pine needles, making use of Looseleaf's recently-acquired Extremely Comfy Pillow and a few bedrolls. They have a druid elder's assurance that the elements won't be a problem, so... nothing wrong with camping!
And as they're going to bed, Looseleaf rolls a 21 on Perception.
Tumblr media
Luckily, Looseleaf fails her unarmed strike roll, which would do no damage even if it hit because her strength mod is -1. So she does not do any damage to...
Benedict I. (GM): So, you kick out at the mouth full of sharp teeth. Saelhen du Fishercrown: Fwff, goes Looseleaf's puffy moth footsie. Benedict I. (GM): The mouth full of sharp teeth goes "Eeek!" and recoils before you make impact, and you see the little lizardfolk girl scamper away into the darkness. Looseleaf: "What." "Wh- how dare you bite me! I am an emissary of the Phantom Lands and all that or whatever." "Come back here and explain yourself to My Imperial Nonexistingness!"
The little girl, affronted, explains that if she's not real, then it's not bad if she bites her!
Tumblr media
Vayen: Vayen stirs. "...Shouldn't kill a child," he mumbles. Saelhen du Fishercrown: "...this is a new dream," remarks Saelhen. "Better than the dreams about dad." "Vayen's even deciding not to kill someone. This is super neat, subconscious, keep going."
Saelhen argues that maybe Gramma doesn't know what things taste good, because sometimes grammas think things that taste bad taste good, like bell peppers! The child has no defense against this devastating logic bomb, and scampers off into the darkness, indignant.
Next time: the journey to Cauterdale, and the menace of the bobbledragon.

Suitcase
FANDOM: Grey's Anatomy
PAIRING: One-sided Meredith Grey/Derek Shepherd
RATING: K
Currently a Standalone Song-Fic to 'Suitcase' by Emeli Sande, from the 2012 album 'Our Version of Events.' Also known as what I would prefer to have happened rather than them killing Derek off.
Didn't see it coming
No kind of warning
I can't work out what I've done wrong
Meredith looked around the home that she had shared with Derek. Their dream house. The house they had built together. Their fighting had progressively gotten worse since Derek had taken the job in DC but she had never expected him to actually leave. She would never have expected it. They were Derek and Meredith. They were meant to be together, everyone said so. So why was her husband walking away from their marriage? Why wasn't he fighting for her after he had fought so hard to be with her?
She couldn't understand it. Sure they had fought but they had always made up afterward. She hated being angry at Derek so she just tried not to be for any length of time. They always made up in the end and now he was gone. Amelia wasn't there either. She was alone with her children. How was she meant to explain this to Bailey and Zola? Bailey was far too young to understand but Zola.. How could she explain to the child that they had adopted together that Daddy was gone?
His clothes are missing
But his key's still here
Please somebody tell me what's going on
Amelia had answered her call and she let out a sigh of relief, whatever was happening hadn't affected her friendship with her sister-in-law. Amelia, who was currently staying with Owen, had no idea where her brother was. Or at least she claimed to. Meredith hoped that she wouldn't be lying and her stuff was still at the house, so she was inclined to believe her. What was different, however, was that the remainder of Derek's belongings were in a suitcase by the front door.
Meredith had wept down the phone, truly unable to understand what was happening to her. Derek was her one, right? Derek was the one she was meant to be with. They had survived so much, Addison's arrival in Seattle, her putting her hand on a bomb, her near-death to drowning, several of her friends dying, her mother dying, her step-mother dying, the shooting, the plane crash. They had shared so many experiences and now her husband was walking away from their marriage, it truly felt as though it was breaking her.
My baby's got a suitcase
He's telling me it's too late
Don't nobody, please don't ask me why
Her heart dropped as he stepped back through the door. Had he changed his mind? No, he couldn't have because he didn't bring the rest of his stuff back with him. His hands were empty and he was reaching for his suitcase, not even making eye contact with her.
"Derek." She murmured through the tears, remaining quiet so she didn't wake the kids. "Derek I don't understand."
"It's too late Meredith. Cristina may have told you you're the sun but that doesn't mean you get to be selfish. I can't give up my life, my career, for you. I'm a respected surgeon. I'm an amazing surgeon. I have a reputation and I'm starting to lose it and gain a new one for being unreliable. So, no, Meredith, you don't get to understand." He still didn't make eye contact, unable to bring himself to look at her as he broke her heart, again.
'Cause all I did was love him
But I can't stop him walking
My baby's got a suitcase, please don't ask me why
She didn't understand. She couldn't understand. They had children together. They had talked about having another. They had planned a life together, a future, and now he was going to leave her because she had asked him for a year to get her career together? She felt as though her heart had been ripped out.
"But I love you, Derek." She shouted, instantly regretting her raised volume in case the children woke up, the last thing she wanted for Zola and Bailey was for them to see their parents fighting like this. "You told me you loved me on the phone today, was that a lie?" She asked, tears threatening to spill over once again.
"No, it wasn't, but DC offered me the job again, they won't take no for an answer and I don't want them to. I want to go. I want to give my all to this job and being with you won't let me do that."
What changed so quickly?
Answer me
If you must kill me, at least please tell me why
"I don't get it. Was your plan to leave without a word? Have me worried sick with no idea what to tell our children? Our children, Derek! Did you even think of them when you were planning this?" Her words were filled with hurt now. She couldn't believe this was happening to her. She couldn't believe he could do this without even a word. "What changed between you agreeing to not go to DC and now? I need answers." Her whole body shook with her sobs as she pleaded with him to give her the answers that she felt she deserved from her husband.
"What changed between you agreeing to come to DC and changing your mind?" He asked. "You never gave me a reason for that either, Meredith. I can't keep putting you first. I used to get kicked out of my bed every week for your best friend and never once did I get an apology. So I am done. I am going to DC. My lawyer will have papers drawn up for divorce and we will talk custody when I'm settled."
She stepped closer to him, reaching out to him. She still didn't understand. She just wanted her husband to hold her and tell her that this was all some joke, that he wasn't really leaving.
He said don't touch me, get out the way
Will someone tell me what's going on tonight?
"Don't touch me, Meredith. It'll just make things harder for you." He shied away from her touch, afraid that he might not have the guts to do it, that he might not be able to do what he felt was right for him at this moment. "Get out the way."
"Derek!" She sobbed. "You can't go. You can't walk away from us, we're your family!" She no longer cared if the kids woke up, because she couldn't stay in this house if they weren't going to have Derek there with them. They would go back to her old house, to Alex's house. He never minded.
"I'm sorry, Meredith."
I can't stop my heart leaving through the door
I can't unpack my heart cause he won't look at me anymore
He didn't look at her again as he loaded his bag into his car in the driveway. He was leaving her. She moved through the house to wake Zola and pick up Bailey. They were sleeping at Alex's tonight. She didn't want to be alone.
My baby's got a suitcase
He's telling me it's too late
But don't nobody, please don't ask me why
'Cause all I did was love him
But I can't stop him walking
My baby's got a suitcase but please don't ask me why
