*breaks into your house* so ive been thinking about this for a while.... a headcanon of knights reacting to their s/o trying their knights idol uniform... 👁
Tumblr media
"YOU LOOK BETTER IN IT." knights
author’s note — as your local knightsP, i had a whole blast with this and may have gotten carried away.. oops 🤭 also ritsu’s isn’t really him walking in on the reader trying it on, but he still walks in on them wearing it saur…. AND I HAD A LOT TO SAY ABOUT THIS HAHDHSHFHF
genre — fluff
warning(s) — slight ooc izumi, only a lil… mentions of bathing together (sfw only!!)
Tumblr media
TSUKASA SUOU
you were bored. incredibly bored. it's even worst that your boyfriend wasn't there to keep you company.
it wasn't rare for tsukasa to be away during the weekends. being an idol meant having a busy schedule, let alone a whole leader of a unit that belongs in the big three.
"kasa… i miss tsukasa…" you complained for the nth time today. all you did was nothing but lay down on the couch yearning for your darling boyfriend. though, it would be sad to say that you're supposed to be used to this, you should be… you just wanted this day to be over with and cuddle up against your lover in bed.
which is why you found yourself digging into his closet and carefully slipped into his spare knights uniform. it was a bit loose, but you were content with it. besides, despite how it looks, it was comfortable enough to pass as your tsukasa's warmth. unfortunately, it was nothing compared to your lover himself.
which is why it was a surprise when your red-haired, busy boyfriend walked in on you running around the kitchen wearing his uniform. (he almost passed out on the spot)
"[n-name]?" he choked, trying not to lose it. you, on the other hand froze and slowly turned your head towards him. "i'm… home?" tsukasa smiled, sweating and was on the verge on freaking out— you could tell from how red his face was.
"kasa? you're home early…" you laugh nervously, putting down the glass of orange juice that you were drinking. "um, i can explain." tsukasa shakes his head frantically, quickly approaching you, (he teleported) putting his hands on your shoulder with a still, visible blush on his face.
"no, no! please keep it on… i-it looks good on you."
Tumblr media
LEO TSUKINAGA
now, leo was the one who suggested that you try on his uniform. although you'd always refuse, explaining that it's embarrassing, you did end up trying it on to imitate your boyfriend whenever he isn't around. (or you wear it simply because you miss him. not that you’d admit it to him, though.)
leo never found out, or so, he was just too oblivious to the fact that his clothes were hanged differently than last time. (he was also too busy composing songs and showing them off to you.)
unlike tsukasa, leo leaves work a bit earlier, and would be home at 10 the latest. though, your boyfriend decided it would be a good idea to surprise you by pretending to leave for work, but would come back to hopefully, catch you off guard.
you, on the other hand, felt like making fun of your boyfriend today (again & affectionately.) like how it had become a daily routine, you slipped into his uniform’s jacket and faced the mirror. "huh… now that i look closely, i do look good in this." you hummed in approval.
"yeah, you do." jumping in surprise, leo stood by the door, grinning from ear to ear as he happily hopped his way towards you. "my dear darling, [name]! how could you try this on without letting me know?! GAH! you look so gorgeous, pretty, cute, adorable, elegant, mesmerizing, irre—" you shushed your enthusiastic boyfriend, embarrassment building up from the compliments.
"s-stop that! you're too loud… i thought you had work?" you sigh, avoiding his gaze as you attempted to hide your reddened face from him.
he laughed, cupping your face with both his hands, gently making you look at him. "what? getting all shy now? don’t be, [name]~ keep it on, i want to see you wearing my clothes for the day!"
Tumblr media
ARASHI NARUKAMI
wearing arashi’s clothes was something you'd usually do whenever you're staying home or sleeping. it's become a daily thing, and honestly, arashi loves it! she'll never get tired of cooing about how adorable you look and showing you off to her unitmates whenever you send a picture of you wearing her clothes. which are usually too big for you.
even so, it’s not that hard to get shy around your girlfriend. consider how she showers you with compliments and is very affectionate. not that you’re complaining.
arashi had informed you that she was going to be home a bit late for tonight. of course, you were understanding, willing to wait before you sleep. you had already done your skincare routine, ate dinner (you made sure to leave some in the microwave for arashi) and was ready for bed.
this time, instead of regular clothes, you decided to wear arashi's knights jacket. it wasn't too uncomfortable, and was comfortable enough to be able to cuddle up to as long as it was paired up with a soft blanket.
yawning as you waited for your water to boil, you heard the door open. assuming that your girlfriend was home, you peeked your head into the living room, arashi noticing your figure instantly. her face instantly brightened and hurriedly jogged towards you.
"good evening, darling! i'm sorry for coming home so late tonight, i bet you're already sleepy. ah, are you making ramen? do—" she paused suddenly, causing you to look up at her, confused. "arashi, are you okay?" your question made arashi come back to her senses, her face slowly flushing red.
"ah, my bad. is that my uniform you're wearing?" she giggles, pulling away to get a better sight of how adorable you looked. "can you do a little twirl for me? wait, i wanna take a picture, you look so cute~! you think you can wear this on our next concert? ahh, i'm about to burst!"
Tumblr media
IZUMI SENA
izumi acts like he doesn't care whenever you wear something that belongs to him. i mean, you're a couple, right? it's only normal for his partner to wear his clothes. though, everyone and their grandma knows that he secretly giggles to himself behind closed doors.
"have fun at work today, zumi." you bid your boyfriend, giving him a peck on the lips. you swore you saw small smile on his face before it fades back to his usual frown. "don't overwork yourself. i love you~" izumi hummed, staying still for a moment before pulling you into a hug.
"mhm.. i love you too. i'll see you when i get home. text me when you're going somewhere." he reminded, before pulling away and left the house. izumi wasn’t normally an affectionate person, so it most definitely surprised you.
you didn't think much of it, and proceeded to do whatever you needed to do. it was your day off, after all. going into the bathroom was the first thing you did. a relaxing, nice bath would be nice. though, noticing the blue knights jacket, an idea eventually popped inside your head.
"[name]? i forgot my coat. is it in—…" the loud voice of your lover eventually turned quiet. he blinks, keeping his eyes on you as you turned around, returning the action. "there…"
he gulped, a blush creeping up to face, but soon covered it up with a cocky smirk. "the hell? did ya' miss me that much already?"
you felt your eye twitch, frantically shaking your head. "h-hell no! i just needed something to cover myself with…" you huffed, playfully glaring at your boyfriend as you saw his smirk turn into a grin. "stop looking at me like that. it's creepy."
izumi snickers, engulfing you into a hug from behind. "haha, i knew you couldn't go on a day without me. and i can't help it, you're irritatingly cute face is making me wanna keep annoying you." perhaps, ditching shooting today wouldn't be a bad idea. it's just one day, right?
Tumblr media
RITSU SAKUMA
compared to the others, ritsu is the one who goes home the earliest. usually, he'd find you waiting for him on the couch or eating at the dinner table whenever you were too hungry to even wait for him.
tonight was a fairly stressful day for him. with izumi'a constant yelling and bossing him around, he wasn't able to take a nap once the whole entire day. if there was anything he wanted to do, that was dragging you to bed with him and sleep until the next day.
"i'm home." ritsu yawns, rubbing his eye while he was greeted with silence. strange, he thought. assuming that you were probably in the kitchen, having your own little concert (that he had walked in on multiple times), he was once again greeted with nothing by still somewhat, heated leftovers on the table.
he did end up eating the leftovers— there was no way he was going to let your cooking and efforts go to waste. ritsu finally entered your shared room, which was dark and your soft snores was the only sound that occupied the room.
"ah… they fell asleep without me." ritsu pouts playfully, and was about to head into the bathroom to get ready for bed until he noticed the familiar jacket that you were wearing. is that my uniform? he didn’t even realize the smile that crept up his face until he leaned in closer to admire you. "[name]~ wake up…" he poked your cheek continuously until you finally stirred in your sleep, slowly gaining consciousness.
you groaned, ruffling your boyfriend's hair. "hm? you're home, ritsu… i fell asleep without you, i was too tired…" you explained, which he hummed in acknowledgment. "what's up? did you wanna bath together again?" ritsu shakes his head, motioning for you to sit up, and so you did.
"you're so cute…" he coos, pinching your cheeks as he took out his phone to take a quick picture, catching you by surprise. "hehe, you should really wear my uniform more often. it looks better on you than it does on me."

On some Japanese social issues I had learned about at uni and abroad):
(Rb ok!)
Legit had an epiphany about the true hidden meaning of the last arc of Mob Psycho 100. It’s hella projection but for real there is nothing neurotypical about Mob or Mob Psycho. I do not wish to enforce my interpretation on others (ironic bc I do that all the time but this is a serious social theory). There are some interesting and very sad social issues in Japan that the west really doesn’t understand but would I think help people understand a lot of context behind not only Mob Psycho, but also a lot of other anime. I learned this at my shitty university (prestigious but horrific) and while studying abroad in Japan and talking with Japanese peers. Get ready here we go (and tw for bullying and darker things):
Unfortunately in East Asian education systems, bullying can be extremely intense. Growing up I assumed it was over exaggerated extremely in anime for drama but it really can be so horrific. From what I’ve heard, there is often a single kid or so who is just shit on by everyone else, even the teacher. Mogami land *is* the reality of some Japanese kids. I’ve read that in Korea, this social punching bag sometimes is just the darkest skinned person (yayyy colorism /angry) and or someone who does not fit in. I mean, we have that in America too, but maybe not as common for the bullying to be as focused on one misfit rather than several. These kids just can’t escape the stigma too, kids from other schools find out they were a major victim at their old school and it starts anew. Thus there is so much stigma and incentive to join in on bullying so you aren’t the one. Sadly, this also ofc leads to higher suicide rates. That’s where the “shoe on building roof” anime trope comes in, bc somehow taking off shoes is relayed to death (I forgot why sorry)
There is a difference in how intense in general high school vs college is too. In the West, commonly college is the more intense curriculum and is harder than high school, but in Japan it’s usually the opposite. Grind suuuupppeeerrrr hard for entrance exams (huge standardized tests that determines what college you can qualify to) bc unlike the ACT or SAT here, that test is by far the most important factor for college admission. Then chill and relax a bit in college. Can’t relate. Name and prestige is very critical for job application, more important than here. That’s why planning out your future is sooo much more intense for Japanese high schoolers than in America, and why there is sooo much more pressure to excel in high school than here. Japanese school years and holidays are done different than ours, I’d suggest looking it up.
Social prestige of going to an American high school or college is nuts. Like whyyy do you value our shitty education, Japan’s is much higher quality (it’s bc we neo colonized them). Being able to speak English is very, very highly valued and any association with Americans make you cooler. From my experience, some Japanese students got very excited to practice speaking English with us, and their biggest issues with learning it is pronunciation, lmao. Wasai english is unique slang that is indeed English words but it’s kinda different and it’s kinda jarring to remember lol. So, Teru having parents that are working overseas isn’t too uncommon, idk about leaving him absolutely alone, but I did have a ex-friend who just came from Japan in middle school who’s situation probably wasn’t too far off from that. Empty wealth with no love, it’s no wonder those kind of people can end up being huge bullies (minori?)
I did a presentation on 引きこもり(hikikomori) for which means “shut in”, (like Serizawa) and it’s fucked up. It’s a social phenomena where according to some Japanese researchers a mix of undisciplined parenting, guilt/not living up to expectations, and hopelessness makes an alarming amount of youth/ young adults literally never go out side their house/room. Often a parent is “enabling” the behavior by supporting them, but idk the articles seemed a bit victim-blaming to me when I read it, but I don’t think I should make a judgement too hard, not my place. I will say I do suspect and believe I read something to support that ASD might play a role in hikikomoris (there is pitiful resources for autistic people in Asia, much much less support than even here, to the point I don’t think most know it exists). Like come on, with the other points I laid out my personal opinion as an Asian American with autism is that it really seems it’s unknowing ableism against autistic classmates, but I didn’t grow up in Asia so I don’t want to say.
Mental health in general is tragically quite abysmal in Japan, and with it being so hyper competitive and brutal work culture, it’s no surprise birth rate in Japan is so low; some Japanese young adults say it seems unethical to bring a life to such hostile world. Suicide rate is of the highest in the world. It’s fucked, I’ve interacted with some of the locals in Tokyo and they were so nice, but the business men just looked dead inside, it’s so sad.
Relationships between child and parent is also strained bc of this intense work and school culture. Quality time is too scarce when you gotta work so much. And the pressure from parents to do well in education or else you might end up socially stigmatized is rough. Bc your job is who you are, it’s hyper capitalism (thanks us for making them do this)
With autism being so unknown, support for parents in raising autistic kids is almost nonexistent. What happens if the “darker” side of ASD shows up in kids? I used to be a menace when I had meltdowns, I felt so bad but really just became so indiscriminately violent. See where this is going? Legit, I think ESP is a sort of metaphor for neurodivergance to ONE. There is so much stigma around it, and even less way for kids to understand why they are different than the others. My Korean family can’t admit we all got ASD, too much fear and internalized shame.
I got finally diagnosed with ASD as an adult and I’ll tell ya, I relate too much to Mob hurting Ritsu. I felt so bad, but also not in control, I knew what I was doing but not how to stop. Luckily, is was blessed in that my hyperfixations involved science and logic, so I did well at school. Sadly, our boy Mob just don’t got the passion or ability to do well at school. His kanji is very bad, even to point of not being confident he wrote a kanji (世) they learn when they are 9, in elementary school (thanks @katyatalks). Him being a bit berated by his parents for having bad grades and bending spoons seems harsh to Westerners I think, but IMO it’s pretty tame from what I’ve seen of some Asian parents (I get to say that lmao). Ofc, however the shaming is very real and Mob just agreeing with them about how weird and stupid he thinks he is so sad. There is even more pressure for the eldest to be better than here, I feel from some interactions. Nonetheless, it’s implied Mob is quite emotionally detached from his parents, even though he loves them, which also adds to his emotional complex. Combined with originally fragile self esteem and feelings of worthlessness, we got one emotionally stunted boy. However, contrary to common belief people with ASD are sometimes hyper empathic and experience emotions very intensely. We are prone to having “meltdowns” which if not assisted with can be quite violent if very intense. For me, my worse meltdowns as a kid came from when I didn’t understand why I wasn’t getting what I wanted, it seemed selfish and cruel of me but I couldn’t control it. I wanted to be a good kid, so why did hit my moms leg at target when she refused to buy me Pokémon toys? I couldn’t come up with a good reason for why my mind just commanded my body to do bad things, just a single thought was controlling me, I want I want I want I want I want ____. Which I argue could be what ???% represents… bc well…. Yeah….. hmm….. not in control of self (mob unconscious), selfish (not actually, I’ve forgave myself but my “normal” kid self was so ashamed), destructive, hurt family, wanting to stop but can’t, that’s kind of…. Too relatable.
But legit, since realizing my new HC, I’ve started to think of the last chapter of mp100 when I “explode” and it helps me feel better and I do gain “control” a bit easier. I don’t feel so bad anymore either, Mob!

Symphony Saga: Resonate: Haku Arc Outline (so far)
Chapter 1 (Brief cold opening where the big underlying plot is vaguely explained.) (Brief run-down of Haku’s life, and her grandmother’s recent death) Chapter 2 November 29... Haku and Neru are two misunderstood, troubled, 16-year-old students who meet at lunch and break period. They both have autism and are ostracized for it. Haku shows Neru her stuffed kitten Snowbell, and they bond and talk about nice things. There was pizza for lunch, but it ran out because the bullies pushed Haku and Neru to the end of the line. Haku and Neru had to eat nasty asparagus coleslaw casserole instead. The day isn’t looking too good for them... but at least they met each other. Haku is happy to have met a new friend. Chapter 3 Everyone starts talking about Haku and Neru and teasing them. Bullies start sticking Neru with needles during her walk to gym class. In gym class, Neru can’t walk far because the lunch upset her stomach. During the 5-mile marathon outside that the boot camp teacher made the class do, Neru lags behind in the rain. The rain turns into a thunderstorm while Neru is outside. The entire school loses electricity during this time. Meanwhile, Haku has a breakdown in math class because she is reminded about her grandmother’s recent death, and has to go to the counselor’s office alone in the dark. And the school is big and even scarier in the dark. Haku then trips and falls down the stairs. Neru ends her school day in the nurse’s office, and getting painful rubbing alcohol being put in where bullies sticked her with needles. The counselor’s office is nearby, and they see each other there. Haku and Neru have both had a horrible day. But finally, they can see each other again. Chapter 4 Haku and Neru meet again after school, and decide to run away together. Haku’s mother is always late home from work, and Haku’s dad is nowhere to be found. Haku’s mother is very neglectful and Haku is convinced her mother wouldn’t miss her. Meanwhile, Neru is an orphan and lives with her mean grandmother. Haku and Neru pack away their important things and run away to the mall where they find a secret room with a magical mirror. They get sucked through, and end up being transported to the magical world of Whimsica, in the town of Speckle Town! After stepping through the mirror, Haku’s plush cat Snowbell comes to life. They are sent out through a portal mirror that is in the magical world. This mirror is a one-way portal, meaning they cannot go back through it to get back to Earth. The mirror is located in a wooded area in Speckle Town. “Where am I?” They both ask each other. Snowbell, who is now alive, jumps from Haku’s arms and begins to wander off. Alarmed, Haku and Neru follow after Snowbell, and notice a very magical feel about the woods. They eventually make their way out of the forest and into Teto’s magical bakery. Luka is there too. (Magical and whimsical food!) (Add more details) (Introduce Luka’s pet, Tako Luka) (Haku and Neru spend the night at the empty housing space in the Cozy Building, which is a large apartment complex that also has things like a store, recreation center, and clinic. Others who live there are Ame and her parents, Teto and her parents, Taya and his parents, Ritsu and his parents, Miku and her little sister Mizu, Chapter 5 November 30. Haku and Neru attend their first day of Adventure Academy. Haku and Neru have two classes out of six where they are together. Snowbell also gets to go to school with Haku. In one class where she is alone, Haku meets friends named Ame and Joy. Snowbell makes friends with a little lioness cub named Buttersotch. Neru hangs out with Luka a lot. Teto hangs out with her friend Momo and tells her about the new students. At lunch, everyone meets together. A villain attacks. (The villain, however, doesn’t show their face, but they turn something into a monster.) (Haku and Neru unlock magic powers in order to fix things!) (Sparkle and Twinkle randomly show up and tell the two how to use their newfound powers...) December 1... It’s the birthday of an outgoing, popular person at school. They get to have a school-wide party that cuts through class time. In one of Neru’s classes, she notices a person who is quiet and seemingly standoffish. Apparently his name is Wallace. Wallace is quite tall, doesn’t talk much, nor does he show much expression. He is always working on something secret under his desk, and he’s very good at hiding it. Everyone spreads rumors that Wallace is doing something “bad.” Neru doesn’t believe the rumors and senses that Wallace is misunderstood. She wants to confirm that he is a good person, so she sticks around after class. Neru doesn’t mean to be eavesdropping, but when Wallace thinks nobody is around, Neru catches sight of what he creates. He makes small stuffed toys. Neru thinks it’s nice that he has a hobby he’s so passionate about, but she sees something else unexpected. Wallace passes by a drop-off donation box for children who cannot afford holiday gifts and drops the toys he made in it. Neru comes out to talk to Wallace then. He has a startled and flustered reaction. “Ah! Please tell me y-you didn’t see anything... I mean... um... I wasn’t doing anything... okay? You saw NOTHING?” “Huh?” Neru asks. “I don’t get it. You’re doing something so nice, but... you don’t want people to know or see?” “Ah... well... it’s....” Wallace turns red. “It’s... embarrassing.” “...Why?” Neru says. “Well...” Wallace says. “The toys I make... they aren’t very good... I guess... not yet, anyway...” “But... I don’t think that matters at all.” Neru says. “I’m sure the kid who receives your gift that you put so much heart and care into will be overjoyed when they see it.” Neru looks in the donation box, even though Wallace tries to stop her. “Aw, they’re not bad at all.” She says, seeing what he made “Ah, well... my father... used to make stuffed toys.” Wallace says. “They were much better than mine. He passed away a few years back. Lately I’ve been feeling down, so my uncle told me I could use the skills I learned from him to make people happy... and well...” “Well... does it feel nice though?” Neru asks. “Knowing you’re making people happy?” Wallace’s face lights up with an unexpected smile. “Yeah!” He says. “That’s great.” Neru says. “Well, I’m Neru. And well, I already know your name. Wallace, right?” “Yeah, but... um... I’d like to be called Wally, please...” Wallace says. “That’s what I’d want my friends to call me.” “Oh. All right then, Wally.” Neru says. However, two ridiculous villains (Maddie and Sadie, the mad and sad clowns) show up and try to destroy Wallace’s things he worked so hard on. Stelle, Lunette, and Celestine show up. They give Haku and Neru advice and tell them a message from Queen Rainbow, the Queen of Whimsica... Apparently, Haku and Neru have been recruited into a group that fights for justice all around Whimsica. All they have to do to participate is to continue to be true to themselves and to continue to use their magic, determination, and kindness, to settle problems. After this fight, Maddie and Sadie end up reforming and becoming good. They join Gladys, the glad clown, and form a trio to make people laugh. Intermittently in the story, Haku’s backstory about her brother Dell, who she lost before her parents divorce, had been told. We also get to know of Haku’s cousin Miku, who mysteriously disappeared. December 2 During lunch, Haku catches sight of Miku, her cousin and treasured friend from childhood who mysteriously disappeared one day. They have an emotional reunion. Haku offhandedly comments to Miku about her lost brother Dell again, but notices Miku grows a sour expression on her face at the mention of his name. However, soon enough, things are attacked again... and the villain this time is... Haku’s long-lost brother, Dell? Dell has been notorious in the school for being evil and causing trouble for the innocent. Miku, who also has magical girl powers, transforms and begins to fight Dell. Haku is in disbelief and is saddened watching two precious people from her childhood fight. “Dell... this can’t be!” She cries. “I know you aren’t like this... you were so sweet to me. You can’t really be on the side of Monochrome. You just can’t!” Dell has a completely different and mean look in his eyes than the gentle look Haku remembered from childhood. Dell doesn’t even remember Haku. He appears completely cold, and he seems sinister. Dell is creating monsters to terrorize and destroy peace, while not even seeming to bat an eyelash. Haku is heartbroken at having to fight Dell, but Neru urges her she has to do it. Eventually after a strong attack is fired at him, Dell retreats... Haku is left crying, deeply affected at what she just experienced. December 3 Haku had spent the last night thinking of what to do if Dell shows up again. Haku is a bad cook, but she stays up all night making a batch of the cookies Dell used to eat when they were still living together as children. She doesn’t give up until they taste exactly the way they did that time. Dell shows up again and Haku begins pleading to him. Dell begins charging an attack, getting get ready to hit Haku, but Haku just stands there. Everyone watches, thinking Haku is nuts. Haku starts singing to Dell. She sings to him the song Dell always sang to her when they were little. Dell suddenly remembers Haku. Precious memories... they begin flooding his mind. It shows, because he grows a soft expression stops charging the attack... But all of a sudden, he shakes them off and charges at her with a punch. Miku pushes Haku out of the way and continues to fight Dell. Haku is crushed once more. Miku notices Dell isn’t fighting with full force today, and he retreats. Miku even notices Dell seemed like he was fighting back tears. December 4 Dell shows up again, and this time, a group is with him. Dell has a really sad look in his eyes this time... Haku tries to give Dell the batch of cookies she made, but Dell rejects them and begins to fight Haku. Suddenly, all targets are on Haku. Haku defeats most of the group except for Dell and the mysterious leader of his group, and is in bad shape. The leader of Dell’s group attacks Haku. He is very powerful. To Haku’s surprise, Dell jumps in and helps Haku fend off the attack. “Haku...” Dell speaks. “It’s okay now. I’ll fend him off myself. You stay safe. I don’t want you to get hurt!” “Dell... Dell! No! I can’t... You’ll get hurt too...” Haku begins crying. To Haku’s surprise, the man says something strange... “Betrayal, huh? From my own children, huh?” “I’m NOT your son!” Dell shouts. Haku’s face turns white. “You can’t deny facts.” He says. “You are my son, Dell. And... Haku. I am your father.” Haku is too shocked to speak for a couple seconds, but... “No!” She shrieks. “You are not! You’re a part of Monochrome! You’re evil. You’re the one took Dell away long ago. You made him like this! You raised him and brainwashed him to be just like you! Dell... he was always very sweet to me. He was always protecting me. He’s even protecting me now! He never wanted to be a part of Monochrome! Now I will protect him from you! Begone!” Haku hits Gin with an ultra-strong attack, and Dell joins in. Gin decides he cannot handle it, so he retreats so he can live another day. Haku and Dell did not defeat him this time. But at least they chased him away...

Fruits Basket HCs
If you haven’t been able to tell from my blog, I REALLY love Fruits Basket. I have this immense love for these characters and I want to share the different headcanons that I have for each of these fantastic characters. I’m going to cover a lot of ground so I apologize if this becomes really long. To make this easier for myself this first part is just going to be my six favorite characters (Momiji, Tohru, Kyo, Kakeru, Hatori and Hatsuharu).
Momiji:
* The mental health side of things for Momiji is that in my non-professional medical opinion (to quote the original show) he has really high levels of ADHD. He learned to combat this by taking gymnastics lessons as a young boy while everyone else was doing karate he was learning to be bouncing ball.
*This one is a pretty much canon one but I love this idea; Momiji is genderfluid. I love the idea of Momiji hanging around Ritsu and learning about fashion from them. I also just really love the idea of Momiji in a cute little skirt with shorts underneath (don’t judge me I just really love the idea of it.)
*Number one touchy friend!! He’s constantly a ball of energy and will hug and cling to all of his friends if they indulge him. He loves affection both giving it and receiving it.
*He is surprisingly a really good baker!! I love the idea of him making friendship cupcakes for Tohru after everything happened just to thank her for all her help (She wouldn’t accept them but offer to share them with him instead.)
*He learned violin from Ayame. I like to think that out of all the Sohma’s he is the most musically inclined. If you want to learn how to play an instrument go to Aya he’ll help you out fam.
*How he learned German and started using that as his main language was in elementary school right after what happened with his mom happened (I’m trying to keep this as non-spoilery as possible so that my friends can read this too). He wanted something that reminded him of her but wasn’t painful. So he decided to learn another language and Hatori helped him.
*He is probably one of the most likely to spoil his future children. He’ll give them the childhood that he was never technically given. If those children wanted something they were going to get it whether or not it was their birthday they want it. Plus he has the money to get them whatever they want!!
Tohru:
*So space cadet Tohru is canon and I am of the personal belief that a little bit of ADD which is why she always needs Yuki’s help with school. Most of these HCs are going to be a little bit mental health related mostly because that’s how I see them.
*If Tohru had the ability to go to college it would be to become a professional chef. She loves cooking for other people and making people happy. Professional chefs to me are the types of people that love to make others happy which is why she cooks for others.
*She is definitely the hug friend. What is the hug friend you may ask? It is a person that can give the best hugs. She is constantly getting hugs from Uo-chan and Hana-chan and to me she just seems the type that would give the best hugs in the entire world.
*She has always been interested in being in a relationship someday. When she was little she loved Disney movies and would fantasize about one day finding her own personal Prince Charming.
*At first in dating Kyo, Tohru gets flustered by EVERYTHING. This poor girl is always blushing around the love of her life.
*Her favorite subject in school will always be cooking but she is surprisingly good at history!! She loves learning about the past mostly because she is one of the few people that found it interesting.
*As a mom she is the most doting parent, the type that kids get embarrassed by at sleepovers.
Kyo:
*My first HC for our favorite cat boi is that he has autism. Hear me out, when I was in middle school I struggled immensely when it came to relating to people and understanding how they felt. I had undiagnosed aspergers at the time and found that he was one of the few characters that wanted to be better at dealing with his emotions and people. Having that relatability now that I’m older has been a huge help.
*The most surprising HC that I have about Kyo is that he loves to write. Usually it’s just little things that irritate him throughout the day. It’s how he learned to officially get his anger calmed down so that he wouldn’t yell anymore once Hajime and his kids were born.
*As a kid Kyo never had ice cream. It’s the same thing with the pancakes where he had never had sweets that wasn’t fruit. Tohru is appalled by this and one of their first dates was to get him to try ice cream (his favorite is mint chocolate chip)
*Growing up he was alone a lot but I think that he would find companionship in books and literature. I feel like he’d be really good at school like in the original where we see him pouring over books to study. (The best way to get him to do well is of course a little competition.)
*Kyo is a hella overprotective dad once his kids are born. This is obvious but if he has any daughters those future boyfriends, run just run.
*Once the curse is broken he is constantly trying to make up for the years where he wasn’t able to get physical affection. After he gets over his own flustered tsundere habits with Tohru they became easily the closest couple. He finds that he loves having his hair pet (if he purrs he’ll deny it until the end of time)
*I think that out of all my favorites Kyo would be the best listener. You got a problem, no matter how stupid it is, Kyo will do his damndest to help you out. That’s just who he is especially when it comes to those he loves.
Kakeru:
*Kakeru’s mental health theory is that he has ADHD just like Momiji combined with dyslexia so he sometimes has a hard time reading things and needs help understanding what exactly he’s looking at for homework.
*Him and Kimi always start prank wars that could go on FOREVER. If nobody stops them they can just go at each other for days. Eventually either Yuki or Machi will get too exhausted of their antics and force them to stop. These prank wars usually happen about once a month on the second week. They all fear this time of the month and whenever it happens it usually lasts for about three days.
*Definite anime lover this boi!! He grew up watching the classics and it’s just something that stuck with him.
*Before he became chaotic Kakeru TM he always hid this part of his personality but now that he’s older he is very open about his love for anime.
*He wasn’t close to Machi until after she was kicked out of the family house. Before then he was almost indifferent towards her existence but when that happened he realized that he wanted to make her feel better whether she wanted it or not.
*He is the best cuddler fight me on this. I feel like once you got him calmed down he would always be down for cuddling his S\O.
*This one is pretty common amongst the fandom judging by how many people ship him with Yuki but I think that he’s not bisexual he’s pansexual he just loves people!!
Hatori:
*I don’t have a mental health HC for Hatori really other than PTSD (which let’s face it almost all of this cast of characters has.)
*Before he met Kana he knew next to nothing about popular culture. His music taste was stuck in the 50′s and to her that was an absolute travesty!! Who hadn’t heard of Queen, Elton John or David Bowie?! She made it her goal to get him into modern things so that he could understand her. At the time he didn’t really understand a lot of the things that she liked. However, once she left him he learned to appreciate modern music and film.
*Something that I really love about Hatori is the thought that he would be a fan of musical theater. It’s something that not a whole lot of people know mainly Shigure and Ayame and Aya always gets him tickets when a show he likes comes to town.
*He can’t cook to save his life!! Literally the type of person that would somehow burn water and he doesn’t have the time to cook everyday but usually Momiji will bring him food that he makes.
*Definitely a romantic at heart no matter how much the idea of love has hurt him in the past. He loves making Mayu happy at random intervals. From buying her random bouquets of flowers to planning things on a larger scale he just loves making her happy.
*As a parent he’s the type to definitely be overprotective especially when they aren’t feeling well. His kid fainted at school? He’s already there trying to find out what went wrong and keep them at home with him for a few days until they get Dr. Tori’s clean bill of health.
*As much as he bitches and moans about Ayame and Shigure’s annoying tendencies he couldn’t ask for two better best friends. \
Hatsuharu:
*Mental health HC is that he’s bipolar thanks to the other dark personality even though most of the time he’s white it’s something that after everything happens Hatori insists he gets an official diagnosis of.
*He loves grunge rock. The first time he discovered Nirvana Kurt Cobain became his instant hero. Not a way to live his life but someone that he was inspired by. His second favorite band is All Time Low (I’ve never heard any of their stuff this one is for my best friend who is an absolute Haru-stan)
*He got his tattoo as his own way of rebelling against his family order. I think that his parents (we only really ever hear of his mom) being strict on him. That’s where the multiple piercings came from as well. Whenever he would hit a low point before middle school he would get a new one.
*He is actually a really good cook and entirely capable of taking care of himself since his parents are often too busy for him.
*He got into gaming by accidentally seeing Shigure playing a dating sim (Fight me on this one I dare you say that Shigure the pervy bastard doesn’t play these things)
*He is definitely the romantic type as we see him bringing Rin flowers to cheer her up. He might be a little bit stiff at first and awkward but once he gets used to the person you bet your ass he’ll just cling to you as we see with Yuki much to his everlasting annoyance.
*He’s an amazing artist!! He loves to draw just about anything that he can get his hands on. It’s something that he does now when he hits a low point instead of wrecking things he learned the proper way of coping with his problems.
Whew!! Sorry about the length on this guy but I really wanted to do this while waiting for the dub to catch up. I will make more if people want more of them!!

I'll swim and sail on savage seas...
Denki loved Sunday mornings. They were the best. When you're in your early twenties, a pro hero and married to your high school sweetheart, they really can't get much better. To put the cherry on top, this was one of the few Sundays where Hitoshi wasn't working, he was normally gone by now since it was almost ten o'clock, while Denki normally worked on Saturdays, so they hardly had moments together on weekends unless it was a holiday or one of them was sick.
With never fear of drowning...
Denki blinked his eyes open and allowed them to adjust to the morning light coming from the window, the cream curtains blowing with the cool breeze of early summer. Denki rolled on to his back and stretched before turning to look at his ex-boyfriend. Oh sorry, husband.
And gladly ride the waves of life...
He stared at him for a moment before reaching out to brush violet hair away from closed eyes. He ran his hand along Hitoshi's face, his thumb running along the dark circles under his eyes, brushing the small scar on his cheek, all the way down to his lips.
Hitoshi must've felt him because he made a small noise then rolled on to his back, which made Denki giggle.
If you would marry me...
They had only been married for about a year now- Hitoshi proposed when they were both twenty two- and he still couldn't get over how gorgeous Hitsohi looked while asleep, well he looked beautiful any other time but it was maximized when he was unconscious but still breathing.
His eyes relaxed and face calm instead of in it's normal slight scowl.
No scorching sun nor freezing cold...
Denki giggled and scooched closer, leaning above him slightly so he could cup his face and run his hands over Hitoshi's lips. He stared at him for a moment before leaning down to place a slow and gentle kiss on his lips. Hitoshi stirred slightly and kissed him back before blinking his eyes open. Denki pulled away and smiled down at him as he attempted to wake up.
Will stop me on my journey...
Hitoshi rubbed at one of his eyes and stared at the ray of sunshine that laid atop him. "Must you wake me up like that every morning?" He asked, running his hands along Denki's sides. Denki's smile only grew wider, "Oh you love it, don't lie." he squeaked when he was pushed off and Hitsoshi rolled onto him. Denki groaned while trying to hold back laughter, "Ugh, 'Toshi get off you're heavy." He felt a rumble in Hitoshi's chest, which was probably him groaning.
If you will promise me your heart...
"Don't want to, you're comfy." Denki clawed at Hitoshi's shoulders, attempting to roll his high school love off. "What time is it?" Hitoshi asked, wrapping his arms around Denki's middle and placing small kisses on his neck, causing Denki to giggle while reaching for his phone, "Umm... almost eleven." He shuddered when Hitoshi kissed right under his ear and he placed his phone back on the nightstand.
And love me for eternity...
"What happened to not wanting to wake up or move?" Denki jokes, running his hands through Hitoshi's hair. "Eh, that got boring." Denki let out a laugh and allowed Hitoshi to spoil him this morning. Well he was going to until a bell was sounded and their cat jumped on the bed and walked up to Denki. "Hey Yukkers, I take it your hungry? 'Cause we apparently starve you." Hitoshi groaned and got off, he hated getting cockblocked by their cat, Yuki. She was a year and a half old Singapora-Tabby mix that the two had got while they were still dating.
My dearest one, my darling dear...
Yuki came and got right in Hitoshi's face and started yelling at him, begging for his attention, her little tick-tock eyes going wild. "Alright, alright I'm up. Don't stare at me like that." Hitoshi picked her up and slowly got out of bed, popping some bones in the process. They had chosen to get Yuki because she was one of the last cats in the store because she was neurotic, so nobody wanted her. But her wild personality and bright brown eyes had only attracted Denki to her more, so they chose to get her.
Your mighty words astound me...
Denki laid on his side for a moment more before grabbing his phone and getting up too, walking out after Hitoshi and their child. He heard the sound of food being poured into a metal bowl and jingling following suit. "Woah slow down there, killer. You're gonna get sick again." he heard Hitoshi say to Yuki. Yuki had this nasty habit of gorging when she ate since they had times for feeding her, which would cause her to get sick about an hour later.
But I've no need for mighty deeds when I feel your arms around me...
"Hey Denks, do you know where that sick treatment stuff is? I think if we put it in her food she'll actually eat it." Hitoshi asked standing up and walking into their small kitchen. Denki hummed, "It should be in the medicine cabinet but if not there then I don't know where it is." He walked over to the fridge and pulled out the bottle of Qoo while Hitsoshi walked to the keurig and started making his coffee while Yuki munched away.
But I would bring you rings of gold, I'd even sing you poetry...
After Denki poured his drink he put the Qoo away and went to the pantry to bring out their waffle mix and turned to Hitoshi, “In the mood for something fluffy this morning?” He held the box up with a smile. Hitoshi looked over at him and smiled back, “You know it.”
And I would keep you from all harm, if you would stay beside me…
After Hitoshi had put his cat themed cup under the Keurig he bent down to the cabinet below it and pulled their waffle iron out. Denki went to a cupboard above the sink to pull out a mixing bowl while Hitoshi went to get a whisk and the rest of the ingredients. They spent about the next half-hour making their waffles and when they finished they brought their plates over to the couch and cuddled up to eat their breakfast with Yuki in the middle of them.
I have no use for rings of gold, I care not for your poetry, I only want your hand to hold…
They watched TV while they ate and Hitoshi played on his phone, searching the internet for stuff. He had been meaning to ask Denki something. While it may have been a little early but they had been in the apartment for a couple years now, they bought it right after they graduated. Maybe it was a good idea. Hitoshi would have to ask Denki first though.
I only want you near me…
“What if we bought a house?” Hitoshi asked suddenly. If Denki was still eating he surely would’ve choked with the force of his head turn alone. “What?” he forced out. Hitoshi took a deep breath and continued talking. “What if we bought a house? We’ve been married for a little over a year, we’ve lived in the apartment since we were eighteen, we’ve had Yuki for a little while, and I bet she would love more space to climb and run around. So what if we bought a house?” Denki’s eyes widened to the size of dimes. “That’s- That’s so serious, I mean,” Denki gave him a soft look, his golden eyes still wide, “A house?”
“Yeah.”
“Like adults?”
“Yeah.”
“With me?”
“Yes. It’s not much different than an apartment, Denks.”
“Well, no, but the connotations of having a house with someone is a lot more.”
“In what sense?”
“Well. Like there’s, this is my apartment I share with my husband. And then there’s, this is the home I share with my family.”
Hitoshi smiles. “You think it’s more serious?”
“It’s a lot more serious! There’s garages. A-And driveways. And pulling out the trash the night before, and mowing the lawn. I’m just gonna go ahead and let you do that, cause I’ve mowed enough lawns to last a lifetime.”
“You can’t just opt-out. It’s your lawn, too.”
Denki laughs and kisses Hitoshi’s shoulder. “I would love to mow lawns with you,” he says, and Hitoshi’s possibly never been so in love with a person before Denki. “I found some places—” But that can wait apparently, because wanting a house makes Denki hot for some reason. “Not in front of Yuki, Denki!”
To love and kiss to sweetly hold…
The next few weekends come with meeting homeowners renting their houses. They have five to start, and they’re all great, but each of them miss that something that makes Denki and Hitoshi look at each other and decide that it’s the one.
There are a lot of small living rooms, cramped bathrooms, and tiny backyards. And some of them weren’t cat friendly.
For the Dancing and the dreaming…
It isn’t until one Sunday, they’re on the last of their list. The pictures hadn’t looked the most promising, but Denki had convinced him to check it out. It was situated in a nice neighborhood, where the houses weren’t quite cookie-cutter, but it made him feel a bit like a Suburban dad.
The house itself is well-kept; it’s a single story, cream and brown in color boasting a vibrant forest green door. There’s a porch painted black, with cement steps that lead up to the doorway. In person, it’s much nicer than the photos lead on. Denki holds his hand as they stroll up the walkway.
Standing near the door, stands a woman.
She bows as they walk towards her, “Hello! I’m Yukimura Ritsu.” She smiles bright, “You must be Denki and Hitoshi!” She starts talking about how long the house had been there and why the previous owners decided to sell it but Hitoshi stopped listening after a bit.
The house was gorgeous.
Through all of life’s sorrows and delights…
“Well if you two wish to look around then follow me inside.” She turned and walked up the steps into the foyer where they all removed their shoes. She opened the main door and Denki actually gasped.
It was quite big. And tall, it was an American styled house so that’s to be expected. It had sliding doors to separate the living room from the hallway. She walks into the living room and shows them where everything is and starts talking to Denki about rent, appliances, etcetera.
Hitoshi begins looking around the house more, going into the bedrooms, the closets, and the bathroom. It had three bedrooms, two guest and then master bedroom with a large american style bathtub which Denki was sure to enjoy.
I’ll keep your laugh inside me…
Hitoshi came back into the living room and Denki was still talking but he couldn’t be bothered by it.
This one was perfect. This was the one.
Denki came up behind him and wrapped his arms around Hitoshi’s waist and put his head on his shoulder. “This is the one, isn’t it?” Denki asks, kissing Hitoshi’s exposed neck. Hitoshi let out a breathy laugh, “You haven’t even seen it yet.”
I’ll swim and sail on savage seas, with never fear of drowning…
Hitoshi turned around in Denki’s arms to place his own around his waist while Denki’s moved around his neck. “Do I need to?” He asked, his voice barely a whisper.
“No.”
I’d gladly ride the waves so white, and you will marry me…

Thoughts on Fruits Basket 2019 2nd Season Ep4: “I Got Dumped”
I’m still expecting any day now to get news about this getting postponed to later in the year, especially with this episode having some noticeably iffy [but not majorly bad] animation in parts, but for now things still seem to be going steady.
Anyway, I think this might actually be one of my favourite examples of how well the anime keeps managing to tie different chapters and scenes from the manga together in a really cohesive and satisfying manner.
Thoughts under the cut.
First things first, this episode was mostly devoted to adapting chapter 43, with the end bit of chapter 45 added near the end, and then a whole bunch of anime original material to fill the gaps and tie everything together in a surprisingly great way.
I’m honestly kinda happy that they seem to be entirely skipping the haunted house stuff from chapter 48, since that part would just feel too filler-y at this point, and it definitely wouldn’t have fit with the more dramatic, character development focused vibe of this episode.
I just find these things really fascinating to pick apart and examine since I like writing, but I really like how this episode improved some of the pacing issues the manga had around this point. On top of the fact that, in the manga, the whole Ritsu intro arc happened between Haru wrecking the classroom and Yuki visiting him at the Soma estate, we never actually got a proper look at Rin until chapter 48.
Across the board the manga was really episodic and jumped around a lot between characters and plot points up until around the beach arc, and I think this was always one of the more notably weak parts of it. I distinctly remember being kinda confused about everything to do with Rin at first since we only got bits and pieces about her across the span of a whole volume or two until she properly enters the story. So I’m glad that the anime is condensing this a lot, and being way more open about Rin, even though there’s still lots of mysteries surrounding her.
I’m pretty sure that in the manga the flashback to her dumping Haru was basically just a single panel during chapter 43 that didn’t really tell us anything, so I’m glad we got a whole scene showing it happen at the start of this episode.
We also got a lot of anime original material with Yuki to basically fill in the gaps between the events of chapter 43 and him going to visit Haru in chapter 45. I’m pretty sure that all the scenes with him talking to Tohru about it before he heads off there, him dealing with a panic attack as he sneaks into the estate, him running into that one important maid lady, and him walking back out of the estate were completely original, and it really went a long way to elevate that whole section. Him going to the estate is pretty unceremonious in the manga, and I don’t think there’s any real acknowledgement of him having to face his personal traumas to actually choose to go back there for Haru’s sake, so it was really cool to see the anime explore that so deeply.
I think the bit with Tohru telling Shigure about Yuki’s plan to visit Haru, and Shigure being all shady about it, was also original, and I think it was another really neat scene that helps establish just how shady Shigure is.
And on an even more unexpected note, we got some entirely anime-original material with Kyo scattered throughout this episode which basically serves to make up for them skipping over the part where he apologizes to Tohru for hurting her in the true form arc. I really liked how they had Kyo get self-conscious and kinda self-loathing about how he tried to warn Tohru away from Haru, since that’s also something that never really happened in the manga but it makes a lot of sense for him to get hung up on that. I feel like this is also basically the only time we ever actually see Kyo training at Kazuma’s dojo in practice, which is interesting.
I’m kinda curious now to see if they plan on having him apologize to her about the true form arc during the beach arc, since this seems to be setting up for something like that.
On a different note, I also liked the cinematography with the scene where Yuki and Haru were talking in the classroom and they were framed through the partially broken windows. That was really neat.
Anyway, on a more negative note, even though I think this episode goes a long way to improve how Rin gets introduced compared to the manga, I still just can’t help but feel like she still just kinda . . . shows up out of nowhere with not enough build-up. Especially when it comes to her relationship with Haru. It still just bugs me a bit that Haru’s intro episode involves us finding out about his childhood crush on Yuki, which he didn’t exactly seem to be entirely over, and then volumes later we find out that he’s had a girlfriend for who knows how long and suddenly she’s the most important person in his life. It still just feels really jarring to me. It really feels like her whole character was only written out partway into the story, after Haru had already been introduced.
I really like her role in the story overall, and I think she’s basically necessary to make the story work, but I just think her introduction into the story has always been really clunky, and this episode wasn’t really enough to entirely fix that. But that’s a fairly minor complaint in the grand scheme of things.
Aside from that, the next episode title preview makes it pretty clear that we’re at least gonna see chapter 50 get adapted, and probably 53 as well since those are the last two pre-beach arc chapters left to adapt if they plan on skipping most of 48 altogether. I’m not entirely sure how well those chapters will work together in the same episode, but at this point I trust that they know what they’re doing, lol.

The Irony of Life (MP100|One-Shot| Fan-Fic Commission)
A short SeriRei one-shot that was commissioned
In which Reigen reflects on his 15 year old mindset and realizes just how wrong he was.
———————————————
When Reigen was 15 years old he accepted the fact that he was never going to have kids even if he wanted to. With a single glance to his parents, he doubted he would be any better than them and no child deserved a fate like that.
Yet irony had a way of creeping into his life and taking away his choice, because by the time he was 30 he somehow amassed an army of children who all looked up to him and visited him often, none of which were related to him in any way.
It had all started with one kid and just ended up snowballing into more and more children before he could even try to stop it. Half of the pictures he has on his clipboard in the office have turned into photos of him and the kids on outings; the time Teru and the Kageyama brothers joined them on their trip to the hot springs, his birthday party with all of them, Ritsu getting thanked by his first client, Rei doing a fortune telling, and so on and so forth.
He hates to say it, but it’s starting to look like a mother’s scrapbook and he is neither a mother nor in possession of an actual scrapbook (though he has considered investing in one at this rate). And although Mob doesn’t visit the office often anymore, too busy focusing more on his studies and the Body Improvement Club, he accidentally ended up sending more kids his way to replace him.
More specifically in the form of a bunch of rather loud girls that Tome dragged in hardly with his approval and his office had turned into their hangout spot (much to his dismay when he is trying to work).
Even now, at the end of the work day, they lay sprawled all over the couch and chairs talking and laughing away as if he hadn't already turned off most of the lights and locked the windows in a subtle way to tell them to get up already.
Most days Reigen was left alone like this– given that Serizawa typically heads off early for night school– however today was a lucky day and he didn’t have classes which is a godsend since Serizawa is much better with kids than Reigen.
“Come on, girls. Pack up, we are closing soon.” Serizawa’s voice snapped the girls out of their conversation much faster than his ever would, it was a perfect mix of a stern yet gentle demand that sounded much more like a suggestion making it much more appealing to listen to.
With a ‘tsk’ Reigen looked over to chime in:
“We are closed,” he sneered before snapping the blinds to the windows shut.
Imminent whines traveled from the girls.
“Come on, just a couple more minutes!” one of them pleaded dramatically. It was almost enough to make Reigen roll his eyes.
“Do you want to be locked in the office?”
“Cool! Like a sleepover!”
“No, no sleepovers in my office.”
Tome leaps up, a tale tell sign she has an idea
“What if you give me the keys?! I can lock up after we all decide to leave or we stay the night!”
“Absolutely not.” He doesn’t even need to think about that one
“What!? Why?! I'm super reliable?”
A smirk crept on Reigen’s face.
“Ah yes, like that time you got lost in the cursed woods, or the time Dimple had to possessed you and punch your teacher, or that time you assaulted one of our clients, or when you-”
“Fine, fine I get it!” the girls were giggling and Tome’s face had turned a bright shade of pink as she slumped in defeat.
Before he could say much else Serizawa stepped in once again,
“How about this: Tomorrow we have a case down at Cape Cop Avenue, if we head off now you can tag along for it.”
The girls cheered, accidently having adopted Tome’s curiosity for ghosts and other such creatures. With their minds satisfied somewhat with the idea of a new activity they began to gather their bags and the homework they hadn't even touched the entire time at the office.
Usually Reigen would scold Serizawa for promising something like that, but the location was an apartment complex that Serizawa had scouted yesterday and as expected there weren’t actually any ghosts there. The scariest thing at the apartment complex was their plumbing system.
Regardless, Serizawa would be sure to give them a show (thank god none of them were espers).
It wasn’t long until they all began piling out. Somehow it has become a habit for Reigen to walk the girls home and tonight was no exception, the only difference being that Serizawa decided to join them.
The first destination was for Mika who lived only 3 blocks down from Reigen’s office, she gave an enthusiastic wave goodbye and promised to take a bunch of pictures tomorrow (even though Reigen tried explaining it would be hard to capture a ghost on camera).
Up next was their tall friend whose name Reigen hasn’t caught just yet. She seemed to stare a lot at them when they worked and doodle them but she was the politest of the bunch so Reigen didn’t mind her all that much.
Then Tome, who groaned loudly as Keiko reminded her of the homework due tomorrow before sulking back into her house with a small wave. Misa lives just two houses down from Tome and jogged ahead since she forgot about the homework too.
And then last but not least Keiko who without the company of her friends becomes rather bashful and shy only uttering small ‘thank you’s’ and ‘good night’s’ as she scurries into her house.
With the girls all safely in their houses Reigen without meaning to let out a soft sigh as he stretched, finally allowing himself to relax away from the kids. Usually he’d keep on his facade for Serizawa but lately that illusion has been melting away and luckily, it’s been mutual.
Serizawa has begun to relax too around him, being more confident and even being so bold as to tease him. They had also begun to work fluidly with each other, understanding what the other needed or wanted with simple quick glances and they practically danced around each other in their morning routines. Reigen even trusted him enough to give him copies of the keys to the office, it was nice to have someone to lean on when you needed it.
Neither of them said a word but they both began walking in the same direction. Serizawa lived just a bit further from Reigen in a different and better apartment complex than his so it made sense they were sticking together.
Nights like these were rare but appreciated, his whole life Reigen has always felt like he was supposed to be running just to catch up; but walking like this alongside someone you trust and care about is nice. It makes him feel like he can finally walk instead of run, like there is no rush.
And Serizawa is a good person and perfect company, initially Reigen assumed they didn’t have much in common but as time has moved on it turned out they do and they frequently found themselves talking each other's ear off. Mostly Reigen more than Serizawa but it’s a mutual exchange at least.
Though right now they seem to appreciate the silence, the girls were a nice change to have in the office but they also tend to drain the two of their energy with how loud and energetic they get, not to mention the trouble and danger they seem to like to get into. The thought alone is already giving Reigen a headache.
“Reigen?” With the sound of his name, he snaps out of it quickly, looking up to Serizawa only letting out a small ‘hm’ of acknowledgement.
Reigen catches the brief moment Serizawa was looking at him before staring forward instead.
“I know we’ve been busy lately but I was wondering if you would like to join me tomorrow for dinner at my place?”
Now that was extra new, Reigen has never been over to Serizawa’s apartment. Something about it felt a bit too personal, maybe it's because he hasn’t been over to a friend's place since he was in middle school nor has he had guests over willingly at his own apartment.
“What’s the occasion?”
The question makes Serizawa visibly tense, although the man has become more confident in himself, he finds moments like these where he still falters in his choices.
“Oh! Uh well I just um thought it would be nice to have some company over you know, I wanted to try out this new recipe and I thought it would be nice to have another taste tester and well I’m also trying to get used to having more people over at my place and I-”
Before he could go on another list of excuses Reigen interrupts,
“Sure, sounds nice. It’s been a while since I had a home cooked meal anyways.”
The response seemed to calm him down, his shoulders untensing and letting out a not so subtle sigh of relief.
As casual as Reigen is trying to act though he could feel his heart hammering in his chest in excitement. Every time he’s tried to have a moment alone with Serizawa one of them has always been either busy or with other plans so it would be great to finally have time.
But Reigen isn't an idiot, he knows exactly why he’s excited for this. He’s noticed how things between them have changed recently and perhaps it’s wishful thinking but he’s noticed from Serizawa too, when his gaze lingers, when he relaxes into soft touches, and the change of his mood from around his friends as opposed to him.
Along with this came a new tension, and not the kind where you want to murder each other or fuck, no it was something different. It was the kind of tension where both parties are trying to read each other and think they know what the other is thinking but they don’t want to make any unwarranted assumptions.
Reigen’s always been great at reading people, and usually he wouldn’t doubt himself but this is different in many ways. Serizawa is not only a friend but an employee, and he’s being reintroduced to the world away from all the hardships he faced and the trauma he’s brought along with him. If he is right about this, he needs to be careful.
Serizawa is perfectly capable of making his own choices but he needs to go at his own pace and to push anything onto Serizawa wouldn’t be fair.
There’s another thing Reigen had accepted when he was 15 years old, and it was that no one could ever love him for who he truly is. And that is a firm belief he’s kept, even now as Serizawa leans to be closer to him and he leans back.
But then again irony loves his company. So maybe 15-year-old Reigen could be wrong about that too.

CHINESE HOROSCOPES 2020! Fruits Basket Style
The Rat - “You're done. Put that down and get out.” - Yuki Sohma
Other Rats: Lymantria Khan, Mateo De Alva
Congrats. It is the year of the rat. The Rat horoscope 2020 predicts that you may be filled with a vague feeling of dissatisfaction even though things will go quite well.He is loyal and devoted to his friends and rather protective of them. He is not really romantic and often is really good friends with his lover. At times he can be mean, stubborn, and narrow-minded in his view but it is merely his way of being a perfectionist and his need to live by his own rules.
Don’t listen, then, to the insidious little voice that will incite you to see things in black. Look at your life with serenity: You’ll realize that, in fact, you’ve absolutely no serious reason to complain or even to worry. Celebrate the many good things you’ve been given.
The Ox - “A mystery...” - Hatsuharu Sohma

2020 will certainly be a lucky year for those born in the Year of the Ox. You’ll be relaxed and feel good about yourself, The Ox chinese horoscope 2020 predicts that in order to amplify the good celestial influences of the year and lessen the negative impacts, it will be in your best interests to take stock of your life and to hatch out new projects. and this beautiful balance will have happy repercussions on your love life.

If still in doubt, then one can choose to totally ignore it.

The year of the Rat will be full of highs and lows for Goats. Having enjoyed a relatively stable previous year, they should expect 2020 to be more dramatic.Goats will have to work harder than usual to capitalize on great financial opportunities during the first half of the year. These resources should then be saved to prepare for the difficult years of the Ox, Tiger, and Rabbit.
In the second half, Goats may face some serious problems that can last a while. These obstacles will require strong persistence and commitment from them. However, they should see this as an opportunity to grow and bring out the best in them. As long as Goats remain optimistic throughout the year, everything should turn out fine.
The Monkey -  "I'm a complete failure. At everything I do, I'm absolutely worthless. I know this, and yet I continue to burden the human race with my presence. “ - Ritsu Sohma
Other Monkeys: Celia, Henry, Jake Rogers
The Monkey horoscope 2020 predicts that this year, you’ll have to make concerted efforts in order to get what you want. Important changes can take place at home or at work, so you need to be prepared. It would be ideal if you could remain confident when you actually feel like sweating. If you act rather than panic, you’ll find brilliant solutions and you’ll triumph over difficulties. Be convinced that life is made of renewals and that upheavals are useful because they allow you to make progress.
The Rooster - “I alone am free. I could go anywhere I please. I could love whomever I wish.” - Kureno Sohma
Other Roosters:  Marlin, Iseul, Adella, Belle, Artemis, Apollo, Jim, Sally, Georgette, Chase

Whether in your work, love affairs or family life, don’t make any decisions without foreseeing its consequences on those around you. Good fortune will smile upon you if you put your family and friends first.
The Dog -  “Sometimes I think the whole world is conspiring to destroy my house.” - Shigure Sohma
Other Dogs: Reza, Hera, Minnie, Sarina, Melody, John, Elena
People born in the year of the Dog won’t have to complain about the stars in the year of the Rat 2020, for they will have good luck in most areas of their life. You will need to be patient and tenacious at work. If you’re wise enough to adapt yourself to new challenges that arise, you’ll strengthen your character and develop two key qualities — the art of negotiating and the ability to make sensible choices.
The Pig - “I will forgive him right after I kill him!” - Kagura Sohma
Other Pigs: Hercules, Dodger, Mitte, Jane, Wendy
2020 will be an extremely lucky year for all the people born in the year of the Pig.The pig has the last position among the twelve animals of the Chinese Zodiac. The Pig horoscope 2020 predicts that the astral climate will lighten. After a rather chaotic year, you’ll begin to feel better about yourself. However, there are still lessons to learn. First of all, show yourself to be extremely reasonable in all domains of your life. Next, vow to be more selfless. Finally, the more willing you are to modify your plans at the last minute, the better you’ll fare in all aspects of your life.

Giovanni’s Room
Rating: G Relationships: ritshou Summary: Shou tries to go home, but it isn't as simple as he'd hoped. Crossposted to AO3: Giovanni’s Room
Why, you will go home and then you will find that home is not home anymore. Then you will really be in trouble.
- James Baldwin, "Giovanni's Room"
---
The minute the door to Shou’s childhood home swings shut behind him, he regrets ever coming back. The air is stale from being empty for days, and the pervasive silence makes the hairs on his arms stand straight up under his sleeves. His body is reacting like he’s afraid that something, or someone, might jump out from a shadowy corner and shank him, even though he knows no one is here, and that no one has been here since his father was shipped off to prison.
He shoves his hands deep into the pockets of his hoodie and heads for the stairs that lead up to the second floor. His footfalls are too loud on the wooden steps, and they echo through the huge, empty house like gunshots despite his best attempts to be quiet. He feels like an intruder in his own house, forced to sneak around to avoid making too much noise even though he knows there isn’t anyone around to interrupt him.
Letting out a sigh, Shou reaches the top of the stairs and turns to the door of his childhood bedroom. He hasn’t slept here in weeks, in between the attack on Seasoning City and all the bullshit that came after, and it shows. He runs his hand over the empty surface of his desk and it comes back gray with dust. He scowls and wipes the offending grime off on his jeans.
The room is just as he’d left it, but it doesn’t feel like coming home. It feels like the room belongs to someone else, now, like he’s intruding. He shifts his grip on his backpack and hikes the strap up higher on his shoulder.
He’s filled with the sudden, overwhelming feeling that he should never have returned, and it bears down on his shoulders like a tangible weight. The house is his; there are photos of himself on the hallway walls and on the shelf above the fireplace, and his books and childhood journals are sitting on the shelf just to his left. He has happy memories of this place, still, despite all the shit he’d gone through with his family, but they’re not enough to banish the thick feeling of disgust that creeps up his throat and turns his stomach. Without a second thought, he turns on his heel and walks back out the door from whence he’d come.
It’s raining out, now. It’d been drizzling when Shou had been dropped off here mere minutes before, but the storm is already in full swing. It doesn’t take long for the rainwater to soak clear through his hoodie and onto the skin beneath, slicking his hair down to his scalp and making his clothing feel heavy on his body. He walks and walks and doesn’t stop until he realizes that he’s walking right up to a wrought-iron gate at the front of a house that’s familiar to him, because he’d burned it down himself not a week earlier.
He stops, feeling stupidly surprised. He’s only seen Ritsu once since the siege of Seasoning, and it had just been to double-check that Higashio had put the house back together properly three days after. He hadn’t intended to walk here, at least not intentionally.
He looks up at where he knows Ritsu’s window is. The light is on, and every other window is dark.
Against his better judgement, he jumps the fence and makes his way around to the side of the house, then crouches down and leaps up to the second-floor balcony outside Ritsu’s window with just a little bit of psychic assistance, and quickly throws up a barrier of invisibility around himself.
He’s running partially on autopilot, but the rational part of his brain stops him just shy of tapping on the glass to Ritsu’s window. The blinds are drawn, so he can’t see what’s happening inside, but what he does know is that normal people don’t show up at the houses of their maybe-kinda-friends unannounced in the middle of the night, soaking wet and looking for… something? He hasn’t figured that part out yet.
He spends a good twenty seconds with his invisible hand held out in front of him, poised to rap his knuckles against the glass, before he lets it fall to his side with a frustrated sigh. What am I even doing here? he wonders, stuffing his hand back into his pocket and turning abruptly on his heel. It’s childish of him to try to seek reassurance from someone other than himself, someone he can only say he knows because he’d practically blackmailed him into helping him. Ritsu’s a good kid. A normal kid. He deserves better than to be saddled with more emotional baggage than he’s surely already acquired from that day.
The window slides open, and Shou freezes, thanking his lucky stars that he’s still invisible. He glances over his shoulder and sees Ritsu staring out from behind his curtains, a thoughtful frown on his face. Shou keeps as still as he can and hardly dares to breathe, feeling a twinge of embarrassment crawl up his spine.
Ritsu looks left and right, squinting briefly as if it’ll help him see better through the rain that still pours down insistently from above, then takes a step back from leaning out the window and crosses his arms. “You can come out, Suzuki, I know you’re there,” he calls, and Shou feels his heart leap out of his chest and into his throat.
Busted. Shou knows he can easily jet up into the sky without Ritsu knowing, cloak his aura so thoroughly and act so carefully that his shoes won’t even scrape against the concrete with his departure. Ritsu can be left wondering if it’d just been his imagination, whatever he’d heard or seen that had tipped him off to his presence. He doesn’t do that, though. Instead, he just takes a breath to calm himself and lets go of his barrier, letting it dissipate into nothingness around him. In its place, he puts up a wall to keep the rain from falling on him any more, and turns to flash Ritsu the cheekiest grin he can muster. “You got me,” he admits, attempting to act casual despite the surely awkward situation. “I thought I was being pretty sneaky, too.”
Ritsu’s gaze snaps to him as soon as he shows himself, and he raises a brow in a rather unimpressed manner. “I could sense you coming from the front gate. You weren’t exactly being discreet,” he replies, his gaze drilling into Shou as though to cut straight through him with his eyes alone. He takes a moment to size Shou up, eyes flicking down and back up against quickly. “Why are you all wet?”
Shou flinches internally, shifting his weight from one leg to the other as a way to discreetly vent some of his restlessness. “Uh, the rain?” he replies, gesturing with one hand to the storm still rolling all around them.
Ritsu’s frown deepens at this, but it’s not a look of disappointment. Instead, Ritsu looks almost worried, the same way he’d been worried for his parents after Shou had first shown up to his house. It’s a milder instance of it, but it does show. “Sure,” he agrees half-heartedly. “Well, you might as well come in, then. Get out of the rain, you know?” He turns to head back into his room, beckoning for Shou to follow with one hand.
Shou doesn’t know what he’d expected to accomplish by coming to Ritsu’s house in the middle of the night, but the sudden display of trust catches him off-guard all the same. Still, he doesn’t hesitate to oblige, dripping clothes and all.
Shou’s been to Ritsu’s house a handful of times now, between coming to pick up Ritsu to take down Claw and making sure he reconstruction of the house was going well, but this is the first time he’s actually set foot in Ritsu’s living space. It’s, unsurprisingly, meticulously organized, not a book out of place or a dirty piece of laundry on the floor. The only things that look out of place are the tennis shoes abandoned by the bed and the backpack, unzipped and tipped over onto the ground at the side of Ritsu’s desk. He pauses just inside the window, the feeling of intruding creeping up on him again. He shouldn’t be here.
“Here,” Ritsu calls, and it pulls Shou out of his thoughts long enough to notice the towel floating in his direction before it hits him right in his face. He takes it in his hands and unfolds it, momentarily perplexed before he remembers just how soaked he is. He’s cold, too, chilled down to his bones by rainwater and carelessness. Ritsu has his back turned, staring into his closet while he points one finger in Shou’s direction. “You’ll get sick if you don’t dry off,” he adds, a little tendril of teal and magenta aura retreating back into his outstretched hand.
Shou drapes the towel over his head and back. “Thanks,” he mumbles, self-consciously rubbing the wetness from his hair with the fluffy, oversized towel.
Ritsu doesn’t reply to him right away, pushing the closet door shut before he turns to face Shou at last. “Why didn’t you put up a barrier?” he asks, and to Shou’s surprise, he doesn’t look angry or even annoyed, just concerned and a little curious. Of course, it’s almost impossible to know for sure with Ritsu, who could easily be hiding his judgements beneath everything Shou’s able to see.
“The rain wasn’t that bad when I left the house. Didn’t think it would be necessary, y’know? I put one up when it really started coming down hard,” he lies, letting the towel fall into his face a bit to hide his expression from Ritsu’s scrutiny.
Ritsu hums, and the sound comes across as thoroughly unconvinced. For all of Shou’s natural talent as an esper, he’s not a good enough liar to make it past Ritsu’s defenses, it seems. “Okay,” he responds, choosing to accept Shou’s answer for now, and perches himself on the edge of his bed where he can easily speak to Shou. “Well then, what brings you here? I didn’t think you’d come back, to be honest.”
Shou falls quiet, struggling to come up with an excuse that won’t sound absolutely made up on the spot, but his brain has short-circuited in the face of Ritsu’s question. Still, he finds himself wanting to tell Ritsu the truth, if only to prove that there’s someone in the world he can still rely on. Ritsu had still welcomed him in despite their history together, a history that included Shou beating him unconscious just to test him and burning down his house to force his hand in an effort to find someone who could help him. He hadn’t exactly made the best first impression, or second impression, or even third, but Ritsu’s still willing to give him a second chance. “My house was too quiet,” he blurts before he can tell himself not too, even though he feels the immediate sense of embarrassment fall over him at the revelation. He can feel his face warming, and he breaks eye contact with Ritsu to look over at his bookcase, as though the books are at all interesting to him.
Ritsu regards him for a moment longer before his seriousness dissolves a little and a smile comes to his face. “I see,” he murmurs, nodding his head in understanding. “In that case, you’re welcome to hang out here.”
Shou’s head snaps back to meet Ritsu’s gaze, blinking in surprise. “Are you sure?”
And Ritsu simply shrugs, already rifling through his closet for extra blankets and spare clothes and forming a pile on the floor by his bed. “I don’t see why not. Just don’t tell my mom,” he replies breezily.
Shou chokes on a snort of laughter, Ritsu’s joke coming across funnier than he’d likely intended, but it does the trick. He’s possibly a little overwhelmed and definitely a lot grateful, so he lets himself relax a little, his stiff shoulders falling just a bit. “Thank you.”

just a little dad serizawa drabble.. tw for child abuse
Serizawa sat on the steps outside of the penthouse office, listening to his boss fight Shou. His hands felt clammy; he started to think.
His first thoughts were of comfort; he opened his umbrella and surrounded himself in a soothing aura, reminding himself of how kind and sincere Suzuki had been to him. Suzuki had saved him; brought him into the light and back into society. Since leaving his room, he's talked to more people than he has in the last ten years. His coworkers could be hot and cold; Shibata was friendly, Shimazaki was coy, but Minegishi and Hatori tended to stay to themselves, just like Serizawa. Nevertheless, he regarded them not only as coworkers but as friends. Right? They were all friends, even while taking over the world. Suzuki was a genius. He had been around the entire world, while Serizawa spent most of his time in his own bedroom. Suzuki knew what was right. Right?
Serizawa's hands tightened around the handle of his umbrella as he heard a particularly loud boom from upstairs. "Suzuki really is being rough on Shou," Serizawa thought. Shou was going through his rebellious teen phase, something Suzuki knew everything about and Serizawa never experienced. But something felt wrong about this. It was a little itch in the back of his mind. He tried to scratch through the mess of curls growing out of his head, but the itch remained. It soon turned into an ache as Serizawa filled with doubt. He wondered if espers were always this hard on each other, and if he should be rough too.
He didn't want to be rough. If another kid Shou's age showed up, he wouldn't want to hurt him. Not the way Suzuki was hurting his son. If he had a child as smart and talented as Shou, he'd never even think of laying a finger on them, even if they misbehaved. "I don't have experience with having kids, though... Maybe I just don't understand?" Serizawa reasoned, but shook his head. He felt a little sick.
He hated seeing Shou get hurt. When he first was hired by Suzuki, Shou hung out all the time, asking Serizawa question after question; some silly, some calculating and invasive. Shou was a smart kid; why didn't he understand that Suzuki was doing what was right?
Serizawa's palms were sweaty, and he grimaced as he heard Shou cry out in pain. He felt something wet on his cheeks and found himself crying. Why was he crying? He agreed with what Suzuki was doing. "This wasn't what was supposed to happen. This isn't right."
"This isn't right."
Thoughts flooded Serizawa, from his mind to his heart to his soul. This wasn't right. This wasn't right. He stood up, and shakily climbed the stairs back to the top floor, moving faster and faster until he burst into the room, right as Suzuki flung Shou against the wall the door was on. He watched Shou hit the wall with extreme force, cracking the drywall. Shou landed on the floor with a thud, grunting and rolling onto his forearms. He coughed up blood, wiping his mouth and looking up at Serizawa, then to Suzuki as the man stepped forward.
Serizawa kept his gaze on Suzuki, and moved in front of Shou, standing between the two of them. This wasn't right. He needed to do something. He needed to stop this.
"Leave him alone," Serizawa said through gritted teeth.
"What are you doing, Serizawa?" Suzuki asked, voice tense. "Shou is just being a rebellious kid; you know how it can be."
"This isn't right, sir. He doesn't deserve this."
"Serizawa," Suzuki stepped forward, "move out of the way."
"You will not lay another finger on Shou," Serizawa found himself saying, words dripping with venom. "It doesn't matter if he's doing something wrong. He's never deserved this and you know it."
Serizawa couldn't see Shou looking up at him with wide eyes, never expecting Serizawa to be the one to step in. He... was glad it was Serizawa, though. The other bozos working for his father were always cold to Shou, even when he was on their side and didn't know better. Serizawa was always kind, always considerate, and always honest. Shou found he trusted Serizawa, more than anything.
"I'm surprised you're the first to go against me, Serizawa. After all I've done for you..." Suzuki tsk'ed, hands beginning to glow with his aura. "I knew you couldn't handle this."
As quick as the fire was aimed, Serizawa put up his umbrella in defense. The blast was ground-shaking, powerful, and overwhelming. His umbrella disintegrated, leaving the metal frame in Serizawa's hands. He gasped, falling to his knees, feeling utterly drained.
Then, a young boy walked in, black hair in a bowl cut. Serizawa had never seen him before, but Shou recognized him.
"Ritsu's brother..." Shou coughed, spitting blood, "glad to see you in one piece." The boy nodded, acknowledging Shou and Serizawa.
"Were you the one who burnt down my house?" His voice was quiet, nearly emotionless.
"Sorry... I thought it'd bring you to action."
"It's alright," Mob said, turning to face Suzuki, face turning from neutral to cold. "You had a lot going on."

Atelo Ch.2
Pairing: minor serirei and terumob (no romance between any adult and kid, not even onesided)
Rated: PG-13 Warnings: spoilers for manga/anime end + Reigen sequel Chapter: 02/? (previous chapter) Word Count: 4k
Link to AO3
Summary: They wake up one morning to find Reigen gone. It’s hard to find a man whose past and history they never knew. They search for him, only to wonder if they should be bringing him back at all.
Roshuto glanced down at the yellowing tomes of what seemed like accounting books and resisted the urge to groan.
When his former disciple had brought in that girl, he’d happily assumed his sworn rival had finally screwed up and she was changing sides for someone who was clearly superior.
Well, his remarkable intellect had certainly hit the mark, partially . After all, what reason other than screwing up was there for the psychic Reigen Arataka to run off so quickly? Too suspicious.
However, the girl had not come to beg for employment, although at least she’d come seeking enlightenment; she’d arrived bearing books from Reigen Arataka’s office to request an explanation for them. Roshuto agreed he could spare a moment of his time to glance at them—perhaps even pick up a psychic signal of his rival’s whereabouts—and was annoyed when he began to peruse and realized they were all just bookkeeping.
Nonetheless, since he did understand some of that, he ploughed on; maybe he’d uncover his rival had been siphoning money out of his business.
“Aha!” He cried out proudly, and allowed the girl the come closer so he could show her his findings. “Verily I see something is wrong here. Take a look at these numbers! He’s claiming these absurdly cheap values are his consultation prices? Clearly, he’s writing down lowered values to keep a large part of the profits—”
“Nah, those are his rates.”
“...Oh.” That was… worrying. He couldn’t imagine trying to live off those prices. His rival must be swimming in clients. Although the books said otherwise. “Let’s see… ah! I see he claims he had two appointments at the same time.”
“Yeah, and now he’s updated to three.”
Roshuto was beginning to sweat now. “And… and here he has a strikethrough on a price and wrote down… carrots next to it?”
“Yeah, sometimes they can't pay with money. The carrots were pretty tasty though.”
“I… I… here! He constantly removes some pocket change and calls it “Mob”. Perhaps he’s been paying an audience some money to react as he wishes?”
“No, Mob just means Mob-kun’s salary.”
“... That’s salary ?!” Even he paid people better. Although a “Seri” seemed to earn a near living wage. He assumed it was the other man that worked there.
“Tragic, I know. But at least from what you’re telling me it doesn’t seem like he was skimming us.”
“My dear girl, I’m wondering why he was even paying you at all, with these rates. Were they always this low?”
“I think so, yeah. Why?”
“Girl, it would take too long to go through the intricate and delicate process that is starting a new business who is as often defamed as the one of psychics. To cut it short: offices cost money to rent or buy, then to maintain. So does the advertising required to kickstart such a venture. Normally one would procure a loan and pay it using the money earned. However, your Master seems to keep his rates low enough to live of off, so long as you don’t have loans on top of the daily necessities to pay. Meaning either someone gave him money to start off, he had money put aside from something, or he’s receiving money from elsewhere.”
“And can we find that out by looking through the ledgers?”
“Perhaps. It depends on how truthful and detailed his accounting is… which, I must warn you, detailed it is not . From just this sample I’ve picked it’s clear he only knows the basics. Although, I suppose, that could mean he would be unable to use any complex techniques to hide issues…” He glanced at the books the girl had brought over; there were too many. “You said these should encompass five years’ worth of accounting? Any detailed analysis will take more time.”
“... How much would that be? This is way over what highschool math is teaching me.”
No doubt . Roshuto calculated the time it would take him to look over the books, considering his current appointments… far too much.
He glanced over the girl again; she looked tired, but not yet defeated.
…Certainly, she looked better the last time he saw her, which was when he forced Rusty onto her…
Roshuto cleared his throat. “I suppose I could… glance over these in my spare time. Consider it as extending an olive branch to my rival. As payment… I’ll take information on what became of him, when you find him.” If you find him.
After the girl left, beaming, he summoned his current helper.
“Cancel any new appointment that may come up.” He glanced at the books and rubbed his hands. After this, I won’t owe you anything, Reigen Arataka.
*
Tome went back to the office with a spring in her step. Granted, the psychic hadn’t given her any answers, but at least he’d promised to work on it, and for free! Reigen would have been proud, if he’d still been around.
That depressed her all over again. And then she recalled Roshuto’s comment and anger surged instead.
She didn’t know how he got the office! She didn’t know anything! That was the worst. Reigen was claiming he was helping his parents and she couldn’t even tell if that was true or a lie fabricated by whatever entity had to be possessing Reigen right now.
Serizawa and Mob might know more, but they were too busy being heartbroken to be any help for now.
Which reminded her; she needed to see if Mob’s brother had made any progress.
As she scrolled through her contacts, an idea came to her, though she’d need the boys to see it through.
*
“Hey Ritsu-kun, how’s Mob-kun holding up on your end?”
He sighed. “My house is still under a storm cloud, Tome-san.”
“Damn, that can’t be good for the flowers.”
It’s not good for anything . “Yes, my parents aren’t too thrilled.”
“What are they doing about it, then?”
“They, uh, told Shige to knock it off with the constant rain.”
“Oh, did that work?”
“….It might have made it worse for an hour. But I might be mistaken.”
“Huh. Is this the first time he’s been this upset? I mean, okay, so obviously his parental—”
“His what , Tome-san?”
“Uuuh, his mentor figure walking out on him isn’t a normal occurrence but surely other stuff has upset him before?”
“It’s rare but I’ve seen this rain phenomenon happen twice before, yes.”
“Well then, how did you guys get rid of it?”
“…He went running to Reigen-san.”
“Well, damn .”
*
Mob flinched when another thunderbolt flashed by his window. He hadn’t meant to make the rain worse, especially after his parents scolded him for it, yet somehow remembering their orders was wreaking more havoc.
Maybe he should leave and go sit in the park somewhere until the raincloud blew over. But first…
He called Master Reigen, who picked up immediately. A sure sign he had no clients currently, which made Mob feel marginally better. “Hey Mob, what’s up?”
“ Master, I don’t think I’ll be able to come over today, I’m so sorry.”
He glanced outside the window and flinched; his mom had scolded him for ruining the flowers… and he could see the flowerbed had become a small pool already.
“Ah? Well, I suppose once in a while I do have to use my own powers, but why can't you come?”
“I… I’m a little upset…” He turned his back to the rain pouring outside his window. “And it’s, uh, making my powers go out of control. It’s been raining non-stop.”
“You sure that isn’t just the weather, Mob?”
“There’s a rain cloud over my house, and my house only, Master.”
“ Ah… well…”
“Anyway, I don’t want to drench your office. It’s bad enough that my mom’s flowers are ruined. I’ll make it up to you tomorrow, okay?”
“Hm, but it’s raining outside the house, right?”
“Err, yes?”
“So my office isn’t getting drenched. Come on over. Unless you feel more comfortable at home, of course.”
“But won’t it be bad for business, having a rain cloud over the office? And the window was leaking last time it rained, so some water might get in—”
“It’s just water, Mob. We’ll deal with it if it does get in. Besides, you need to think about perspective here. A spirit consultation office with it’s personal eerie rain cloud? Ha! That gives it authenticity . Business will boom. And if it doesn’t, you can entertain me by explaining just why you’re upset.”
“I watched a movie called Hachiko—”
“Say no more. Come on over. I have a new brand of spiritually soothing tea we could try out if you want.”
The downpour turned into a drizzle.
*
“It’s fine, I’ve called the cavalry. What about on your end, Tome-san? How is Serizawa-san?”
“Still down in the dumps. I’ve come up with a plan to boost his self confidence and locate Master Reigen but it hasn’t born fruit yet.”
“Yeah? What is it?”
“I created a profile for him on a gay dating app, and added subtle messages to attract aliens!”
“ How would that even— ” The doorbell mercifully rang. “Sorry, let me get back to you later, help for my brother has arrived.”
Ritsu opened the door to a grim-faced Shou and Teru. He was about to offer a towel but noticed they’d used their powers to stay dry.
“It’s bad, huh?” Teru said as a greeting.
Shou looked down at the shoes by the door. “Are your parents around?”
“No, they left for drier ground.”
“‘Kay, we got this, lead the way.”
As Ritsu led them to his brother’s room, he felt relieved they’d finally arrived. While normally he’d try talking to Shige on his own as usual, it was complicated when the issue was the damned conman. Ritsu had had no love for him, and most people knew that, so considering the current issue, he feared he’d be too biased, or say something he’d regret, instead of helping Shige, so perhaps leaving it to Shou and Teru would be wiser.
He opened the door to Shige’s room but chose to not enter with them, instead staying next to the door so he could listen in.
“Hey, Kageyama-kun, we heard the news,” Teru was speaking. “And we’re here to help you out of this funk.”
Ritsu nodded to himself. Yup, he was wise to call on them. All would work out —
“Sometimes parents need some extended time alone away from us, but that’s normal.”
Wait, what? The wind outside picked up.
“I mean,” Teru kept going, “mine left, but they still write. Sometimes. Usually checks. It happens, it’s hard taking care of esper kids, they get tired sometimes.”
The wind was so strong it felt like someone was physically banging against the windows.
“Right!” Shou added. “My mom didn’t take me with her, but she still talks to me. Well, she’s an esper so it’s different, but — ”
I wanted calvary, I called two Horsemen of the Apocalypse instead.
“Are you two insane?! ” Before Ritsu realized it, he’d rushed inside the room.
Mob was hunched on a corner of his mattress, arms wrapping over his knees and head down. Teru and Shou looked at Ritsu like he was the crazy one.
“What’s with you, little brother? Kageyama-kun needs to learn that as an esper, things like this are bound to happen.”
“Right, most people at Claw turned orphans because of non-esper parents. Why do you think Mukai—”
“ Reigen Arataka wasn’t his parent! ”
He was met with twin withering looks.
“Ritsu, now is not the time for semantics—”
“It’s not semantics! Reigen Arataka wasn’t his parent, which is why this is all too suspicious !”
“…What?”
Ritsu was already beginning to regret it, he should not be the one to have to defend that damn man.
…But the wind outside stilled, as if in baited breath, and Mob’s head slightly lifted from the cradle of his arms.
Ritsu sighed. He was going to be mature about this, for his brother’s sake, and say it. He hoped wherever Reigen was, he was suffering enough to justify putting Ritsu in this position.
“You’re saying non-esper parents sometimes leave because they can’t handle esper kids, right? Well, my brother isn’t Reigen’s kid to begin with. If Shige’s powers bothered him, all he had to do was not involve himself with a kid that wasn’t in any way connected to him. Yet he stuck around, for years.” Granted, it was mainly because he needed his brother to bring in money…
Shige had no reaction other than to let his head fall again.
Ritsu hoped Reigen was being tortured right now.
“Look, I… was never a fan of him—”
“That’s an understatement,” Dimple made its presence known by mumbling next to Ritsu.
“He’s immature, dramatic, selfish , underpaid you and is a fraud. But… there’s proof he did care , more than just for profit.” Ritsu pictured Reigen being dragged over hot coals, it helped . “There was that time he entered Claw’s hideout to get you out. And then w hen… when you were run over before trying to confess , didn’t he go after you ? And that was after he had Serizawa-san working for him . Look, he’s not the best person out there, but even I have to admit he did more for you than someone who only wanted you for profit would .” Sometimes.
There was complete silence, and Ritsu felt his face slowly flushing at the stares.
“...Thank you, Ritsu, but that isn't it.”
Four pair of eyes stared at Mob, now emerging from his between his arms, incredulously.
“It’s… not? What are you drowning the plants for, then?” Dimple asked first.
“...He’s a good person. He’s done a lot for me when he didn’t need to. I know he cares, even if not as much as I thou — ” Mob stopped before taking in a breath and continuing. “I’m upset because he didn’t hesitate. He didn’t wait at all. Ritsu, was he so miserable this whole time that it was that easy to leave? He’s been helping me for years and I… didn’t notice at all.”
The rain started back up again. Ritsu found himself sweating slightly. He’d assumed his brother’s issues were much simpler than they apparently were.
He hadn't needed to make a speech praising the conman, damn it .
“Shige, he might just be having a mid-life crisis and is coming back soon,” he ran his mouth, hoping if he spoke enough, something convincing would come out. Oh god, he's been gone a day and I’m already acting like him . “And with the way he’s such a prideful exhibitionist there’s no way Reigen-san wouldn't want to boast about finally getting rich! It’s not like him! He’s the type that would stick around to show off and invite us over to watch his success, not cut ties! And! I find it hard to believe he was that miserable. He stuck around through that shameful media fiasco, why run off now that everything's back to normal? Not to mention, he has more people helping him at the office now as well.”
Mob finally sat up on the futon with a sigh.
“I wanted to think that but… his decision is pretty final, I think.”
“What makes you think that, Kageyama-kun?”
Wordlessly, Mob took a crumpled letter from inside his shirt. He took a check out of it and handed it to Ritsu.
Ritsu looked down at it and saw white .
“ Shit , look at that... that’s 6 digits !” Dimple screeched. “Since when did that guy have this much?!”
“Maybe the real reason Reigen-san skipped town is because he murdered someone and took their money?” Shou suggested.
“He sold his apartment,” Mob said, and waved a paper in his hands when they looked at him quizzically. “It says so in his letter.”
“He managed to sell that hole in the wall in two days ?!” Dimple asked, which Shige ignored. Ritsu noticed that while they’d been busy gaping at the check, he’d gotten hold of his phone.
It felt like everyone was drawing their breath in unison as they watched him call Reigen’s number.
It went straight to voicemail without ringing once. The usual sign of being blocked. Ritsu was beginning to sweat all over again, but his brother only frowned.
“We need to find him, let’s talk to Tome-san.” Mob said simply, not seeming at all dispirited any longer. He stood up and placed a hand on Ritsu’s shoulder. “Thank you, Ritsu. You mentioned the times he helped me, and that reminded me of something.” Mob paused, clearly thinking things through. “I think it was all so unexpected I just couldn’t think clearly about what I have to do.”
“What are you planning, Ritsu’s bro?”
“Master Reigen once said to me that he didn’t hate daily life at the office. And he also said,” Mob flinched, “...something I should have paid more attention to, if I hadn’t been so self absorbed at the time. But the point is, maybe he was lying that time. And maybe he couldn’t leave before because he had nothing else to do. But now that he can be rich somewhere else, he would rather leave.”
Mob paused yet again. However, in the last ten minutes Ritsu had heard him speak more than he had in days, and didn’t dare complain about how long it took him to get the words out. The other three people (well, two and a spirit) also seemed to know him well enough to not dare hurry him up.
“But this isn’t like the Master Reigen I know. I shouldn’t be in bed doing nothing; I want to make sure he isn’t running from something and keeping it from me. And... if that’s not it… if everything was a lie… I want to at least apologize. And give back the money.”
Apologize? Ritsu frowned. While he was glad Mob was now getting out of bed with a resolute expression, he wasn’t so sure about the apologizing part.
But he couldn't ask now. Dimple was taking all the attention by screeching about not giving back the money and they had Teru and Shou there. He’d wait for later.
*
Tome walked into the office and groaned when she saw Serizawa was still in fetal position.
“Are you going to stay like that forever?!”
“Leave me be, Tome-san. I ruined everything.”
Tome would have kicked him, but he looked more pitiful than a lost puppy. Instead she raised her hands up in surrender.
“Fine! Not even a thank you for the dating profile either. Ugh. You know what? I respect you for this, Serizawa-san. I legit respect you for being able to fall for absolute trash !”
She sauntered over to Reigen’s desk and occupied herself, pretending not to notice Serizawa finally moving.
“He’s not trash,” he said in a reprimanding tone. Tome let out a theatrical yawn.
“Really? You certainly think so.”
“ What? I do not! Where is this coming from?” Serizawa was so indignant he actually stood up, hands clenched tightly.
Tome arched one eyebrow and placed her head between her hands, hopefully perfectly imitating Reigen’s I-know-this-and-am-superior posture.
“You think Reigen-san is such a disgusting asshole that he skipped town without so much as a goodbye to everyone he knew… because you had a crush? I mean, it doesn’t even make sense because he gave you the deed to his precious office, despite the fact that, in your mind, running away from you . Still, if that’s why he left, he’s quite the trash, huh?”
Serizawa deflated, with an expression that Tome could only describe as hopeful confusion. “... When you put it that way… this isn’t like him. It’s just… I’ve been wrong about people before.”
“Yeah well, dunno what happened with your last boyfriend—”
“Ah, no, I was referring to my former bos—”
“Whatever. My point is, I’m here now. And Mob will be too, if he can get his head out of his ass, to pass judgement alongside you.”
“I see.” Serizawa looked relieved for a second, before walking to the desk and frowning. “But if I wasn’t at fault, why did he leave?”
Tome rolled her eyes. Twice. “ That , my dear Watson, is what I’ve been trying to figure out while you and Mob were being useless. Well,” She glanced at the message just arriving on her phone and smiled, rubbing her hands together. “Seems like whatever Ritsu did work, Mob is coming over. Let’s finally get to the bottom of this!”
*
Mob jogged towards Spirits and Such, pace erratic in his desire to arrive quickly and make up for lost time.
Dimple was babbling on about uses of money that did not involve giving it back, but Mob ignored it.
Even though he had pockets, he held Reigen’s letter firmly in his grasp.
  “ Hey Mob,
It sounds disrespectful to address a letter to your nickname, but I think if I started this by addressing you as anything else, you might think it wasn’t me.
Anyway, if you haven’t been told yet: I’m going to be rich! Thanks to my old man, but still. I need to leave the office for it so I've taken care of my business and my apartment. The money you’re seeing is from the sale, by the way, not from anything suspicious (don’t let Dimple dictate how you use it).
You technically aren’t an employee of Spirits and Such anymore, and actually it’s not as if you ever signed a contract to begin with. However, money is the only thing I can give you, so that’s that, and I did owe you for years of underpaid work, with interest. I’m sorry I couldn’t give you anything else.
You’re fine without me, just take better care of yourself,
From your former Master”
Notes:
-“Hey Mob”: fun fact, the kanjis in Shigeo can be read as “Mobu”, so technically all Reigen would need to do was write Shigeo with the hiragana reading. This obviously doesn’t translate at all in english so I had to adapt the letter with that in mind.
-6 figure check: the money is in japanese currency, so while its still a large sum for a teen to receive, Reigen’s apartment did not sell for much.
-I am aware we do know what Reigen was doing before he got the office. The characters, however, do not.
-Trying to juggle between Ritsu's personality given his mindsets of "must protect brother" and "must look down on Reigen" was difficult. Hopefully I haven't made him out-of-character
-Feedback is appreciated, thank you for the kudos and comments so far!

Shield Hero 20 - 22 | Sarazanmai 7 - 9 | BSD 32 - 34 | Fruits Basket 8 - 9 | Demon Slayer 8 - 10 | OPM 20 - 21
Shield Hero 20
Motoyasu getting dragged by Filo was funny…not enough to get a proper laugh though. Just a smirk or two.
Stop narrating and just get on with it, Naofumi and friends…!
“I was saying we should fight together all along.” (from Itsuki) – Were you, now…? (skeptical)
Ass-pull! I call “ass-pull” at the power to swallow the phoenix flame! Seriously, when did the dragon get the opportunity to teach Naofumi how to do that???
How did Naofumi not die after losing so much blood…?
What does the Q even stand for in the queen’s name…?
Sarazanmai 7
The seagulls…so fluffy…
For some reason, I expect a fakeout, but then it never arrives…these boys are really connecting…
I found some kappa croquette thingy online, but it referred to a “Shiki City” which probably isn’t in Asakusa…
The shirt…Kazuki’s shirt says “frog” but I get the feeling it also means “return”.
Shirohasu water. It’s Irohasu in Japan.
Was the lyric to Kawausoiya (the otter song) “gonna take ‘em”…?
Nice ET reference, Sara.
Balls…not just sport entendre, but…y’know. The sort of humour I don’t like as much.
Ooh…Keppi is shaping up to be the bad guy. But what plans does he have? Am I speculating too much and is he being framed? Hard to know until next time…
BSD 32
When Kyouka is eating the sundae, she looks like the Tofu Kyouka from Mayoi…hmm.
Can I confess something? Before I saw the illustrations for s2, I thought Louisa’s hair was much darker than what it is in the anime…hmmm, indeed.
I don’t think we were ever told (in the manga or the anime) what Louisa’s wish was…
This bit with Fyodor…I don’t think it was in the manga.
Subarashi-sou is a pun on “it seems wonderful”. That wasn’t in the manga, but it’s a great pun (because it’s right up my alley).
Fitz laughing at the neighbour’s TV wasn’t in the manga either, but that’s just the anime director’s humour peeking through.
“Blalack Daniel’s”, LOL.
Ohh…a quick Google reveals TJ Eckleberg is from the Great Gatsby. In there, he’s an eye doctor, but here, he’s an engineer.
George B Wilson is also from the Great Gatsby…Here be spoilers, but…George dies in his original work too.
Manhasset is a place in New York…I assume it’s connected to the Great Gatsby as well…
Oh yeah! Random Poe moment. That’s in the manga, so Igarashi (or whoever’s responsible for the terrible humour) doesn’t have to fake that bit.
Cue “Objection!” by Fitz, lemme guess. Even if I know the outcome and how it was done, I’d like to have my memory refreshed (by stabbing in the dark…and making an Ace Attorney joke in the process).
I already know, without googling, that Tom Buchanan is part of Great Gatsby as well…
Bank of Amerigo…LOL.
Fruits Basket 8
“If you show up for the banquet now…”
“The banquet sounds just like the folk tale!” Honestly, subbers, proofread…
Haa-kun and Haa-san. No distinguishing between them (aside from honorifics), even though they’re two completely different people.
Hatori’s squinty face was…hilarious, to put it simply.
Oh…I forgot the dance seems to be something the animal of the year does. So if Yuki was 3 years ago, it makes sense Momiji is doing it this year.
Best seat in the house for a sunrise, huh?
Kimetsu no Yaiba 8
I’ve seen Muzan being described as “Demon Michael Jackson” and now I can’t get that out of my head when I see him…sorry.
Tsukihiko, huh? It translates to “moon’s radiance” or something like that. That name is appropriate for a bad guy, isn’t it?
This is the first time I’ve really listened to the OST (aside from the OP and ED), so it’s…really something.
Ooh, I didn’t realise until now, but Ufotable even imitated the paper Jump is printed on with the next-ep previews…
OPM 2 8 (OPM 20)
Er…I haven’t mentioned it for the past few episodes, but Suiryu is hotttttttt. (No? I said that? Okay, next step.) That’s basically the only reason why I’m watching anymore…I can’t seem to find anyone who thinks positively of this tournament arc enough to do reviews of it that I can read, which has made my own opinion of this beloved series go down the drain…Also, if you weren’t aware, my taste lies not in Suiryu’s huge bulk, but rather in the fact he’s got long hair.
Didn’t Suiryu get pierced in the abs??? Where’s the blood coming from his injuries??? Update: He does have injuries there, they’re just not bloody…that’s all.
The main criticism for OPM 2 is the fact that it keeps cutting between different events, so it’s hard to follow. Well, I’ve had worse (see Concrete Revolutio) so that’s why I’m still here.
People say that clothing changes you – say if you put on a new outfit, you feel like a new person. (Of course, that’s all glamorising and praising consumption, but that’s beside the point here.) I think that’s what’s up with Max and Snek.
Shield Hero 21
“…the Shield Hero is worshipped.”
Really? Boob jiggle, at a time like this??? (Context: Malty is getting th slave crest painted on her.)
Wait, was there ever a Shield Church???
Okay, that felt like a real seasonal ending. What the heck is going to happen in the last few episodes, I wonder…?
Sarazanmai 8
Chikai knows the real meaning of YOLO…heh. I’m only kidding…
To be honest, I think I like Toi best out of the main trio. I tend to like the boys in blue…and no, I don’t mean the otter police.
Kazuki’s service provider is “Kappa Phone”, LOL.
When Reo held up the gun, I was yelling, “Enta! Get it for him!” (i.e. take the bullet) I didn’t expect him to actually do it…
…and here I thought tragic yuri was common enough and we don’t have enough Tragic Yaoi Dudes…
Notably, Toi was registered on Enta’s phone as “Kuji”, while Kazuki is registered as “Kazuki” (katakana) on Toi’s.
Shots fired…!
Update: I didn’t notice this, but the evil dude with kamome written behind him (I think it’s in this episode, but it might have been in the last one instead) must be based on a seagull…because that’s what kamome means.
Bungou Stray Dogs 33 (BSD S3 Ep 8)
I think it was around here I stopped reading the scans, because the series was picked up legally anyway…but I can see the death flags for a certain Port Mafia man…one who stands at the top.
As expected…butt shot. Igarashi (or whoever’s responsible for that shot) likes butts, so between this and Sarazanmai…*imagines image of kappa!Kazuki holding a shirikodama* There’s absolutely no buts about it (LOL), there’s no shortage of butts this season.
“To think that the rabbit being hunted would show its face…” – I think it’s hard for you to say that, Akutagawa, when you yourself have no face in that frame…
Why are both Akutagawa and Fyodor Naruto running today???
“So you’re doing this for that woman.”
What is “Mukurotoride”? I don’t seem to remember…maybe I never learnt what it was. Update: Apparently a tower in Dead Apple is called Mukurotoride.
Conspiracy time! This book sounds like Kunikida’s Ability…so imagine if it were under Dazai’s nose the entire time…
Fruits Basket 9
I love how the synopsis for this episode goes, “Kyo fights Yuki, Yuki fights a cold…”
Hatsuharu’s wearing such an ostentatious fluffy jacket…LOL, I love it.
Holy cow (LOL), I forgot how old Hatsuharu is…so that means he’s 15-ish, right?
Come to think of it…I see Fruits Basket characters in Ro Te O, which I started writing at about this time in 2013. The Azrael of that time was a hybrid of Hatsuharu, Ritsu and Ayame, Tetsuya is basically Yuki and Ryou is Kyou…hmm.
Apparently, Shigure had in the 2001 anime a song that went like, “High school girls, high school girls, cute high school girls for me.” So that’s where it was??? (Context: I haven’t seen Fruits Basket 2001, but read the entire manga.)
Kimetsu no Yaiba 9
Recap time, recap time…so the lady’s in the back room and Tanjiro conveniently forgets the man is in the basement…? Wuh?
Moya was complaining about how repetitive this show can get when it comes to the script (i.e. it repeats itself because it doesn’t trust its audience, but I think that’s because this is originally serialised on TV week by week that people may forget if they’re not bingeing, taking notes or following the manga). I’ll talk more about that in my KnY collab post, I guess…
When Yushiro said “watch your back”…he really meant it, huh?
Temari are the balls, but kemari is when you kick the balls.
“…the eyeballs on his hands are creepy.” – LOL.
Shield Hero 22
The ep title just says “Hero Council”…not specifically that there are 4 of them.
My stream’s been buffering more than usual, so I went “like mother, like daughter” before Naofumi did…
It would’ve ben massively funny to hear Melty call Malty either “Trash” or “B****”…especially the last one, because that’s always a fun way to end a sentence (especially for a girl as young as her). Update: She does, but the way she does it isn’t as funny as I thought it would be (and she doesn’t end her sentence with her sister’s new name).
Wait, I thought they got rid of her slave pact??? I thought it was only for the duration of her trial that she needed it for.
L’Arc and that lady seem like they’re foreshadowing for later…hmm. Update: The next-episode synopsis says “yes”. So does that new visual.
Sarazanmai 9
I can’t believe this show’s almost over…That means I gotta get a move on with RobiHachi, but to be honest? Non-anime things are probably going to kep me busy until…a few days from now. So I’ll get RobiHachi watched then.
Characetrs are dying en masse in this episode, aren’t they??? I saw a spoiler that (well, SPOILER) Chikai’s gonna die, but I don’t know about Enta or Keppi…Update: To be honest, I thought Chikai was going to become the next monster – a gun monster, perhaps. Maybe now that I’ve finished the episode, he’ll become a real zombie. (Hey, see what I did there with the bolding…? How’s that for hiding spoilers, eh???)
Oh yeah…I forgot Enta’s sister was Kazuki’s teacher…
There was a sign behind Masa that said”Hinode Asakusa” – “hi no de” meaning roughly “under the sun” or “leaving the sun”.
Tokarev…? The gun? Gun monster, maybe? Is this a critique of the American gun…(exaggerated voice) Nah, can’t be…this is Japanese.
Lionel…Lionel…for some reason, that name in relation to soccer seems familiar...I just can’t put my finger on who it reminds me of, though. Update: Is it, perhaps, Messi…? Yes, I think that’s the guy I was thinking of…!
Aw…I’m not crying, you are…But these words were running through my head before Toi chucked the bag of money away and yelled, “F***!”: “Everything I do, I do it for you.” Isn’t that cute…?
Bungou Stray Dogs 34
“…one by one?” Junban means “sequentially”, so I don’t see why you have to use the phrase “one by one”. Or “one at a time” would also work.
Hardbank…to contrast Softbank (a phone company in Japan).
Face-stealing aliens strike again…(re: Atsushi)
Oh flip. This reminds me of my Kunikida fic…yeah, I bet you don’t remember it.
Hey, this dude! Apparently he’s from one of Kunikida’s stories. I really am approaching the end of what I know of canon…*gulp* Update: Oops, we already passed that part…
I wonder if the real Fyodor could play cello…? Or is this just a thing to make him ominous and villanous…?
The cross on the wall behind Kunikida…makes this show more like Eva than Kekkai Sensen…exquisite. Absolutely exquisite, isn’t it?
Another cool cross, behind Tanizaki!
What’s a tatamigatana? Also, I didn’t know other people could be synchronised using Doppo Poet and Ranpo’s deduction…
Does Kouyou mean (by “the one I most despise”)…Chuuya? Or herself? It’s definitely not Ace.
Kimetsu no Yaiba 10
Headpats for Yushiro as well! Headpats for everyone!
There’s a lot of Tanjiro being terrified in this episode…
Wait…Kizuki? I thought they were the 12 Moons? (Well, “tsuki” means “moon”, but then what’s the “ki”?) Update: The “ki” means “demon”, so the Kizuki are the 12 Demon Moons.
Being alone with the body…that’s always a scary thought in murder mysteries…for the people who dissect them to determine the cause of death, that is.
Considering the name of the episode is “Together Forever”…nup, I don’t see Nezuko and Tanjiro separating anytime soon…
The Kasugai crow is what happens when you can’t turn off your Google Assistant…or GPS…or Siri.
If Tanjiro knows the name of his crow, how do the crows get their names? Do their trainers (is that the right term for a crow breeder in this case…?) give them names?
OPM S2 Ep 9 (Ep 21)
LOL, that one shot of the ants…JC Staff really don’t care about this series, do they…?
I kinda forgot about Genos after a bit more than a week…sorry, I was watching other anime in between. (More than usual, at least. I started playing Chibi Tamago – a forum game for AniList where you collect badges for watching anime - that’s why.)
Did he (Pri-Pri Prisoner)…store his phone in his butt…?

TatST - Ch 1: Secrets
For Day 1: Secrets of Ritshou Summer Week by @shouritshou! Please enjoy the first chapter of Together at the Same Time!
Warnings: Major character death, violence, injuries, blood, concussions
Shou is acting weird. Like, weird even for Shou.
Ritsu wakes up to the smell of meat cooking in his nose.
He fumbles for his phone, something that's become the first part of his daily routine since he convinced his parents to get it for him last year. A quiet chime plays as it unlocks, Ritsu sleepily rubbing at his eyes until his ceiling looks less blurred. He can already see out his glass door that it's going to storm later...maybe he'll just stay in bed for a while longer. He can still smell breakfast cooking and it's making his stomach growl, but he doesn't want to leave his warm bed yet. Ritsu pulls the blankets up to his ears as he rolls onto his stomach and tries to ignore the little pang in his heart when there are no new messages from Shou. Because really, it shouldn't be that much of a let down. He's probably not even awake yet. Shou tends to stay up late and sleep in late, doubly so on weekends. So it's completely normal to not have a new message and he shouldn't be so disappointed. Ritsu's phone signals a new text message and he snatches it up to check his notifications in record time. Dammit. Damn Shou and his handsome face and his cute freckles and the new pang in Ritsu's heart that is the exact opposite of disappointment but just as unwelcome and painful. Shou: We're going somewhere today! I'll come pick you up! Shou: And don't skip bfast it's bad for you The first one isn't unusual. Shou is restless and he is always finding something to do. The second text, though, is...oddly specific. Ritsu widens out his psychic senses just to make sure Shou isn't hiding somewhere with his invisibility (which also isn't unusual). He can't Feel Shou sneaking around anywhere, although that doesn't always mean anything. His ability to hide his presence rivals Shigeo's and supposedly Reigen's.
Reinvigorated with the promise of an adventure, Ritsu rolls himself out of bed and drags his feet across the carpet. He wonders if he should bother to bring an umbrella or not. It might just be in the way.
Shou: Don't bring your umbrella btw you'll just lose it
Shou: And wear shoes without laces
Ritsu sticks his head into Shigeo's room on his way by, just to make sure Momozou hadn't come by to visit without him knowing. There's only one futon on the floor, though, with one head of black hair poking out. Telepathy and invisibility make for a horrifying stealth combo.
Me: Why are you being so specific.
Shou: Just a feeling
Shou: Don't worry about it
Ritsu is torn between not worrying about it and knowing better until he walks in on Shou in the middle of picking his outside door’s lock.
“Ricchan! Lemme in, we're going somewhere today and we need to get going!” Shou looks up at him from where he's kneeling and his stupid grin is so bright that Ritsu wonders for a moment if the storm clouds cleared up. And he considers it, he really does…
“Why should I?” But sometimes Ritsu feels like being difficult.
“C'mon, I came all the way out here! Don't be a dick.”
“Impossible. I'm always a dick.”
Shou snorts at him. The sound doesn't carry through the glass, but Ritsu knows the face he makes when he does it. “Yeah, well, y’are whatcha eat, I guess.”
Ritsu pulls the curtain shut.
The indignant “Awww, c’mon, it was funny,” is muffled by the thick fabric. Ritsu had just recently reset that lock, he reasons he has at least a couple minutes before Shou gets it figured out. He's just barely finished stepping into his shoes, though, when the door slides open and Shou breezes in, bringing in the smell of rain. He's getting too good at that.
"So where exactly are we going?" Ritsu always asks when Shou just shows up to whisk him away like this, but he had stopped caring about an actual answer over a year ago. Shou can make even mundane, boring things exciting. He could say they were just going to the corner store and it would still be fun. So it doesn't matter what the answer is, because Ritsu will follow along regardless.
"Places." Ritsu side steps to make room for the eventual circuit that Shou will make through his room. Even though they see each other almost every day now, Shou always walks by his bookshelf to look at the framed pictures sitting there. Or maybe he just scans the book spines, trying to figure out which one might be Ritsu's journal. "I found some pretty cool abandoned stuff past Mud Boat Mountain. Like they just half bulldozed some tourist places and then left them!" Shou stops in front of Ritsu's desk, leaning back against it with his hands stuffed in his jacket pockets. He doesn't pace, doesn’t play with any of the pens on Ritsu's desk, doesn’t even look at the shelves.
The sudden break in routine is more than enough to remind Ritsu of the strange text messages from that morning.
Shou is acting weird. Like, weird even for Shou.
And he only realizes it more and more as Shou babbles about whatever he's found out in the mountain ranges. There's something off about his rhythm, about the way the words roll off his tongue. And Ritsu isn't sure of exactly what it is, but he can pick out that it's wrong. It maybe wouldn't be wrong coming from anyone else, but it's wrong for Shou and at least to Ritsu, Shou isn't just anyone else, he's Shou.
And Shou does eventually move, but it's only to steal a jacket out of the closet. The one that's changed hands so many times between the two of them that Ritsu can't even remember who it belonged to first.
Something like unease settles into Ritsu's gut, twisting up his insides.
It only gets worse from there. When they both leave the house, Shou keeps finishing Ritsu's sentences or answering questions before he's even done asking them. And this isn't unheard of, Shou can read Ritsu like an open book after so much time, but it's never been to this extent. Part of it makes Ritsu nervous simply because it's something new with no obvious explanation, but the other part worries that this means Ritsu is just that obvious. How much as Shou figured out about him recently? Does he know about Ritsu's Secret and that's why he's acting strange? Does Shou know that he likes him? "Yo, Earth to Ritsu!" Right. The convenience store. Snacks for on the way. It's not until they're back on the route to Mud Boat that Ritsu realizes he hadn't grabbed the salt water taffy he always brings home with him. He really is preoccupied. "Hey...Shou, hold on, I forgot Nii-san's candy." "Eh? Isn't he gone for the weekend, anyway?" Ritsu has just opened his mouth to answer that no, where did Shou even get that idea, when his phone trills in his pocket. Shige: I'll be gone when you get home. Shishou needed help and Serizawa is still out of town. Be back Monday. Ritsu's blood chills, bits of it clogging up his brain and trapping his thoughts in a clotted-off loop. Something is wrong. Something is really, really, wrong.
"Shou... Shou, how did you-?" "Peach ring?" When he looks up from his phone, Shou is suddenly a lot closer, holding a piece of candy up to his face. His eyes have gone from warm to overbearing, something that burns so hot and bright the flame has gone blue. Ritsu knows when he's being told not to ask. He opens his mouth again only to bite the peach ring out of Shou's fingers. ○●●○●●○ Now that he knows Shou is keeping Secrets, too, Ritsu goes on high alert, his feeling of everything being off-kilter only multiplied from before. "And so then- Then I told this guy that if he didn't speak- If he didn't start talking, I was really gonna light a fire under him-" "Shou, oh my god." It's a little hard to concentrate on that, though, when Shou is holding his hand because touching makes it easier to keep them both invisible. This didn't used to rile him up nearly as much as it does now. His only comfort is the fact that Shou can't see him, either. When the bus finally pulls up to the last stop at the base of the mountain, they both drop down to the ground without breaking hold, Shou kicking against the window and cackling when the people inside startle. Ritsu wonders if Reigen is going to get a call on Monday about evil spirits riding on top of public transport and messing with the passengers. The bus pulls away and Shou drops the invisibility and Ritsu drops their hands and turns before Shou can notice if his face is as unbearably red as it feels.
"...C'mon, it's not too much farther now." Ritsu is pretty sure he's just imagining the disappointed tone in his voice. Shou guides him up the mountain side, occasionally grabbing his sleeve to stop him from taking specific paths because trust me, Ritsu, you'll just give yourself a concussion like a dumbass. Ritsu bites his tongue and doesn't argue against it. When they float up the last bit of cliffside, they're greeted by a few run down old buildings, sides caved in and toppled by time and creeping vines. Their walls spill out like entrails, littering the ground with wood and glittering broken glass. "Pretty cool, eh?" Ritsu has to admit, it is pretty cool. They both walk forwards and it takes Ritsu a moment to place why the act itself is so weird. He's grown familiar with the sight of Shou's back, he could redraw the freckles on the nape of his neck almost as well as he could the ones on his face. Because Shou is always leading and Ritsu is always content to follow wherever Shou might lead him. But now Shou is all but glued to his side, shorter legs working to keep pace. He's keeping him close, keeping an eye on him, and Ritsu doesn't know what to think about that. And the longer they go on exploring their new discovery, the more antsy Shou seems to get. He's always energetic, always doing something, but it's never with this uncharacteristically nervous or paranoid feel to it. Shou keeps checking the time on his phone, he turns towards any sound that he can't immediately see the source of. His nerves are fraying like old rope. "Ritsu." He startles, because Shou hadn't said anything in a while and his jumpiness is starting to rub off on him. "Be quiet a sec. Don't move." They both go perfectly still until Shou's head whips towards the ceiling. Ritsu's eyes follow and then he can hear it, too, creaking along the old rubble. Footsteps. "Ok..." Shou's voice drops to a whisper. "Ritsu, put up a barrier. Thick as you can. On my mark. Three..." Ritsu tenses up, aura manifesting around them both in refractile bluepurplepink. "Two..." Shou drops his stance, reaching out and grabbing Ritsu to pull him closer until his concentration nearly stutters. "One!!" Ritsu's barrier balloons around them and too many things happen all at once for him to keep track of them all. Something drops in from the ceiling and something else swings in from the window and- Shou suddenly has Ritsu behind him backed in a corner and the desk near them flies open and stuff comes pouring out the drawers- And the entire desk goes hurtling across the room and someone screams and glass shatters and wood splinters- Something collides with his barrier and it pops like a bubble and then- And then Shou is being ripped screaming out of his hands- And suddenly there's a fist in his face and it isn't Shou’s because Ritsu knows what Shou’s fists look like, especially when they're right in his face, and this one isn't Shou's- Ritsu is dragged out and away through a hole in the wall and halfway through the woods all at once before he can get his bearings, but he lashes out as soon as he does. Practiced weak spots, eyes, nose, throat, solar plexus, hands wreathed with aura and one fist shoved up under the ribs before both hammer down onto the back of the person's bowed head. Ritsu sends them flying, maybe into a tree, maybe over a fucking cliff, he doesn't care, it doesn't matter as long as they're not in the way because he needs to get back to Shou. He races back to the old building and Shou is standing close to where they'd been before, visible through a massive hole blown in the wall of the second floor, Ritsu isn't even sure it was there before, but oh thank god he's still standing and he's alright. Shou pulls the hood of their jacket up one-handed right before he sways backwards and plummets. It's such a short fall that Ritsu only barely manages to grab him with telekinesis right before he crashes into all the debris below and that in itself scares him even more, because Shou doesn't even try to catch himself, he just falls and he's completely limp as he dangles in the air. Ritsu eases him down as gently as he can, but he can feel his heartbeat in his ears and it's making his control shaky. It isn't until he has him laying flat on the ground that Shou's eyes peer open again. "Shou! What happened, did you get hit? Are you bleeding? Where does it hurt? Is your head alright?" And Shou just blinks up at him like he's trying to recalibrate, turquoise irises rolling like compass needles until they realign with their true north and settle on Ritsu's face. "Ritsu...you did it. I knew you'd pull through on your end." When he smiles, his teeth are stained pink. "They have a bad habit of...of underestimating you." Shou's arm comes up and pats his cheek, but it's only the left one. His right stays crooked on the ground. Ritsu's eyes catch on the red starting to pool under his back, under his head, and the sight tangles in the spokes of his brain until the wheels grind. "Don't." Shou's hand, the only good one left, grabs Ritsu's wrist before he can reach the zipper to get a look at where the jacket is soaked to his skin. "Ritsu, just...just trust me. Don't." He doesn't stop Ritsu from calling an ambulance at least, even though he's starting to fear there's no point in it. Shou's teeth are starting to chatter and Ritsu's heart and lungs are starting to spasm and he's bleeding out all over the ground and- "Listen to me. L-Listen. Ritsu." Shou stops to grit his teeth and spit blood. "Ricchan. It's all...everything's gonna be ok. I can do this. I'll do...I'll get i-it right next time. I was so close this time. Ricchan, it's gonna be ok." "...You knew." Shou had been acting weird all day long. Like he already knew everything that would happen. "Shou, you asshole, you were keeping Secrets, you knew, and you still- You still...!" "Which is why...I know that everything's gonna...gonna be ok." Ritsu finally makes himself look Shou in the eye. He still looks dazed, his pupils mismatched in size. Concussion. "C'mere. My head is...it hurts. I...pillow." Ritsu manages to get Shou's head on his lap, desperately trying to ignore the sticky wetness seeping into his jeans. He figures it's the least he can do. "Ricchan. Tell me-e-e...tell me a, uh, a story." "You seriously want...?" "Mm. Tell me...haha, tell me about the time...about when Kamuro and, and Tokugawa tried to...catch Momozou ditching." "I...Shou, you already know that story. You were there for some of it." "I know... It's, uh...a good memory. I love...like the way you, you tell it." Shou settles in while Ritsu recites something from back in middle school, Kamuro and Tokugawa deciding tardiness was their new target and Momozou was the worst in Salt Mid. "So Shinji is still hanging halfway out the window and... Shou. Sh-Shou, stay awake." "Mm." He doesn't open his eyes again. "Keep...going. Still listening..." Ritsu closes his eyes, too, because that way he can almost pretend this is just another night where one of them had a nightmare and went crawling into the other's bed and he doesn't have to watch his vision swim. "And...and Hikaru is trying to, to pull them both back in, but Momozou is so d-damn big and heavy that...th-that..." Ritsu squeezes his eyes shut tighter. He's not sure he wants to see.
"Shou...?" Nothing answers him but his own hiccuping breaths. "Shou, c'mon, you shouldn't...you're not supposed to sleep with a concussion. You can't..." He can't do this to him is what he wants to say, but he already knows it's pointless because there's no one there to hear it, because Shou is a fucking liar and he had said that everything was gonna be ok and Ritsu didn't even get to tell him his own Secret and nothing about this is even remotely ok. One hand clenches in the sleeve of their shared jacket and the other clamps over his eyes until it makes kaleidoscope patterns on the inside of his eyelids. He and Shou weren't supposed to be separated, they did everything together, they were a pair, he doesn’t want to imagine having to look forward and not seeing Shou's back like always because Ritsu is the only one he trusts to watch his back. They weren't ever supposed to be apart. Something bright burns beyond his eyelids and it's the only reason Ritsu peeks out between his fingers. Orange, yellow, and pink, an aura he knows almost as well as his own, but now in the shape of a person. Two wide white eyes slowly open across its face, meeting his gaze head on. Shou's ghost is sitting in front of him, staring at him. Ritsu watches, partly mesmerized and partly horrified, as he cups his hands together and something builds there, crackling with energy. Shou's eyes crinkle up like they do when he smiles and suddenly everything starts to pull. Nothing looks like it's moving, but Ritsu can feel it, like he's being sucked in, like his very soul is being forced out of him through a straw. Everything is compressed, crushed, crumbled down to crumbs as it's drawn into the tiny black hole held carefully in Shou's cupped hands. He can feel the world condensing into a single point, the preparation for a new universe because the best thing about this one was dead and gone. And Ritsu swears, just at the last possible second before the big bang, that he feels Shou's heart jolt beneath his fingertips.

Good to see you, friends!
“WHAT’S THIS!? This isn’t Uma Musume! Fictionerd! Explain yourself!”
Well. I watched this week’s Uma Musume and as I did I had this sinking sensation. The episode didn’t really move me to dig in depth into it the way I have my other long-form posts. So I instead went to watch this week’s episode of Caligula and scrape my scales and call me Seath if it wasn’t about a thousand times better. So let’s all take a deep dive into Episode six of Caligula.
WARNING! I ENGAGE IN A LOT OF SPECULATION THAT MAY BE OFF THE MARK. I REPEAT A COUPLE TIMES IN THE POST BELOW, BUT LET’S GO AHEAD AND GET IT RIGHT OUT FRONT! PLEASE NO SPOILERS FOR THE STORY MOVING FORWARD FROM THOSE WHO’VE PLAYED THE GAME(S). THANK YOU.
We open on Mu preparing the first song of the night aimed at activating the digi-heads and allowing the Musicians to combat the rogues. We get an inkling of how she’s being manipulated by this Thorn character. Her Utopia has been hijacked by the musicians who seem intent upon living within their own delusions for all eternity.
We then get a series of quick establishing scenes showing the various characters and the situations they open in. Ritsu, Kotaro, and Kotono are still at the weird water-world place facing down Dom lady. Mifue and Naruko are where we left them last episode: with the first fake mom Mifue had in Mobius. Suzuna has run into newcomer Izuru and together they are cornered by another of the Musicians who has watched too many action movies and dual-wields massive sub-machine guns. Shogo just barely escapes the digi-heads by ducking into an elevator. We get a brief flash of what appears to be a girl jumping off a building before the elevator stops to reveal the white-haired speaker kid from the first episode. It seems like everyone who’s noticed the world is the matrix is in deep trouble.
After the OP we jump right back into the action with Kotono using her Catharsis effect to fight Dom Lady. The results are lack-luster with Dom flat-out batting away every arrow Kotono throws at her, even when she throws up to four at a time. They take a break from fighting to compare Mobius to an aquarium. Kotono’s all like, “This whole place is fake. I want my real crappy life back!” Dom lady snorts and says, “You’re a moron. Why would you want that sucky real world where you have to work for stuff when you could just stay here and let Mu brainwash you into thinking everything is absolutely perfect?”
I don’t know about Kotono, but my immediate response would be something along the lines of: “Because living in a world where everything is just handed to you is completely asinine, and would lead to the sort of stagnation you normally only get from full-on clinical depression.”
Enough of that scene, though, let’s catch up with Mifue and Naruko. They try calling Shogo to no avail. Sorry, ladies, he’s found himself in a situation he can’t just “cut” out of. You know how it is. You run into an acquaintance from school and they just demand you “Shoot the shit” with them. (I brought up his scene early just to make those puns and I’m not sorry).
Crazy, Pixie Dude shows up and is all like, “Hey you two. Since you know my secret identity I’m going to shame you for your own petty sorrows. Glasses-chick wants to be internet-famous and blandy hates fat people, right? Ooh I do love touching nerves. What you mad? Too bad you can do jack all about it!”
I have serious concerns about the directions they might take this guy in because of the whole “overweight dude living as a cute girl thing”. That’s one fucking minefield of a subject matter that I’d prefer to avoid until and unless we learn more about why he went with that. Depending on how it shakes out there could be some serious problems there. (Oh who am I kidding? There’s going to be serious problems with that character regardless.)
Once more I feel the need to alert those who’ve played the games ahead of time: NO SPOILERS PLEASE. I don’t CARE how the game handled it, because I’m watching the anime.
Okay! Enough of that aside: Back to the fight between Kotono and Dom. They basically continue their conversation from before and Kotono’s ranged attacks continue to be largely ineffectual. I’ve gotta say she seems to have gotten the “Shaft” on this particular matchup. (Jesus why am I doing this?)
Kotaro tries to get Aria to Cathars him up some beatin sticks, but she’s all like. “Sorry, bro, you’ve not got enough edge to work with.”  Ritsu, realizing that they’re basically dead weight advises him to run and he’s all like, “But why?”
“Because they keep damaging those tanks and I don’t want to drown, That’s Why!” So they do and then we cut to the source of my puns from before where Crazy-eyes White-hair is trying to make several points to Shogo all at once with what appears to less be a sword and more a collection of random serrations. Fortunately Shogo’s Dirty Harry special is a functional parrying weapon, but his stance is basically shit so he keeps getting thrown around.
I’m seriously confused as to why he’s suddenly at such a disadvantage. Isn’t he somewhat experienced at this? Shouldn’t he at least be able to keep his footing?
Whatever, We jump back to Thorn and Mu who kinda snaps out of a trance.
“Girl whose name is not at all suspicious, why does it feel like the people I brought to my stately pleasure dome are all in pain and anguish?” “We call it tough love.” “Okay then, if you say so.”
And we move on. Wannabe Action Star has cornered Suzuna and Izuru and tries to be all intimidating just to strike out horribly and make Izuru look badass for just staring the punk down as a bullet grazes his cheek. (I’m assuming he got better build up to his introduction in the game. That or I just didn’t notice him in the insanity that were the opening episodes of the series.
At this point the various scenes from around Mobius start to converge in their tone. It’s essentially -
Musicians: This world is perfect! We don’t have to worry about things being hard or frustrating ever again! Rogues: That’s just running away. Sure I may regret this decision later, but I’d rather take a chance at having something real than play pretend forever! Musicians: It’s not pretend so long as we stay here it’s all real! RAAAR
The reason we see the scenes basically bleed together is because Aria is suddenly getting a serious mainline of feels from all the protagonists. She hovers up into the air and begins to glow with an awesome power. “I can feel it! Everyone’s Existential Angst is flowing into me. OH NO!”
And she gets pwned by the shockwave off Dom-lady’s mace. Kotaro runs over to her. We see Mu realizing her friend is still around, but that’s over fast. Then Kotaro picks Aria up and gets teary-eyed, Presumably out of fear that he’ll never get to see what she looks like as a human-proportioned Vocaloid rather than a chibi. Dom calls him a weakling and he’s like, “No I’m not [emphatic pause] Yes I am.” [Sob] Then a few not-so-manly tears fall down his cheeks and splash onto Aria who’s all like, “NOW THAT’S WHAT I CALL EDGE!”
She turns into an orange star of “Battle Them” and everyone follows the light while internally screaming in anguish. Aria bundles up all those Feels and everyone but Ritsu undergoes the Catharsis transformation at once. The sudden realization that so many people didn’t like playing in her doll house makes Mu’s record skip before she, too, gives in to the edge. With ten minutes left in the episode we get our title card and all the protags are like, “Sweet threads! Thanks, Aria, now we can whoop some ass.”
And that’s exactly what they do. Maybe I’m just spoiled from watching Megalo Box last night, but up until this point I didn’t think the fighting in this had been much to write home about, but the big battle at the end between the Rogues and the Musicians was pretty cool.  I sort of want to skip to the end at this point, but there’s something I need to touch on first. Remember when I mentioned Shogo’s Elevator flashback? The main reason I remember it is because when he’s asked why he wants to go back to the real world so bad he says “Because I’m a Murderer.”
Again No Spoilers! but I can’t help suspecting that he’s blaming himself for something he didn’t have much power to stop. Okay, subject addressed back to the fight.
Ritsu’s the only one who hasn’t impaled himself on his feels, and he’s struggling with this whole “Determination to keep fighting” thing. Everyone around him doesn’t just want to go home, they’re fighting for it. Just as he’s wondering what exactly he is and what he could have to fight for Mu descends from the heavens. She’s basically having a mental breakdown because she doesn’t understand why everyone won’t just let her make them happy. She’s taken all their pain and suffering and made them her problem. That sort of Empathy and desire to help others is admirable, but she’s handling it in the absolute wrong way. She’s trying to help them forget about their pains rather than face them. She’s basically gotten to the point where she’s angry at them for not being grateful for what she’s done. She doesn’t realize that she’s ultimately done more harm than good.
When she just LOSES IT! Words don’t suffice. It needs to be WATCHED.
So she starts overflowing with all the negative emotions she’s been taking from everyone and bottling up inside herself. She can’t hold back and has to lash out. Ritsu sees this, but not I think as the threat everyone else might see it as. He sees the pain that Mu’s in. He sees how misguided and delusional her quest is, and this gives him his motivation. He’s going to stand against Mobius, not for himself, but for her sake. Maintaining Mobius is obviously doing just as much harm to Mu as it is to everyone she’s keeping brainwashed.
So Ritsu fires a massive FEELS BEAM at the giant ball of EDGE Mu has accumulated and seemingly dissipates it. As Thorn flies(?) off with Mu in her arms Mu calls Ritsu a Jerk.
Post-credits scene all the Rogues decide to team up and officially name themselves the “Go-Home Club”. (Which honestly is probably the best and worst pun of them all).
Question! How the heck are you supposed to use club activities to “hide” what you’re doing? The Musicians know who you all are already! What are you worried about sucking other people in? Why?
Ugh, I guess I’ll find out as things go on. Now, if you’ll excuse me, this post may be late getting to bed, but so am I. Hopefully the next two days of playing catch-up will go smoother than this.
Until next post, keep talking fiction, friends! I’ll see you soon.

Snowflakes & Such
This was my @mp100secretsanta2017 gift for @lovigal, who requested holiday-esque goodness with Serizawa, Ritsu & Mob. I’m reposting here so that there’s a version with a read-more. I hope you enjoy!!
“One last stop!” Serizawa said eagerly, eyes running down his neatly checked-off list of holiday cookie recipients. Reigen tried not to sigh with relief, brushing at the snowflakes that had settled on his coat and checking the heavy gray sky anxiously.
“Ah, good. If this stuff keeps falling we might have to worry about train delays.”
For the first holiday season in years in which Serizawa was neither trapped by the fear of his own powers nor a member of a terrorist organization, he’d apparently decided to fully embrace every festive tradition he could get his hands on. Last week he’d enlisted Mob in helping him decorate Spirits & Such with paper snowflakes of various geometric designs, dangling them from the ceiling tiles by paper clips stolen from Reigen’s desk. Serizawa had illuminated their artworks with ropes of tiny white lights that he strung through the office. And most recently, he’d flexed his burgeoning cooking skills and baked enough cookies to hand-deliver some to everyone he knew in Spice City.
Reigen had never been particularly interested in the holiday season before now, always regarding it with more annoyance than pleasure. Yet Serizawa’s joyous enthusiasm was infectious, and Reigen found himself offering to join the cookie-delivering spree just to continue basking in the glow of Serizawa’s delight.
However, Serizawa had made a surprising number of friends and acquaintances in the short amount of time since he’d left Claw; Reigen hadn’t realized quite how many houses they’d be visiting. Confronted with house after house of “Happy Holidays!” by strangers who welcomed Serizawa and then peered at him with polite uncertainty, Reigen was very ready to turn in for the day. The steadily-increasing snowfall made him all the more eager to return home to lonely but familiar solitude.
He peered over Serizawa’s burly shoulder, trying to see where they were going next.
“Who’s the lucky recipient of the last plate?”
“Kageyama-kun’s family!” Serizawa was practically buzzing with excitement. “I saved the best batch for them, they’re hardly burnt at all.”
Reigen brightened; finally, someone he knew. He picked up his pace, not only eager for the chance to see Mob, but also for the excuse to see him at home, double check that everything was going okay for him there. Reigen didn’t see Mob’s family very often, and Mob’s little brother in particular had always viewed him with suspicion. Reigen welcomed any opportunity to correct this impression.
An unpleasant thought struck him at this, and he glanced at Serizawa uneasily.
“Ah…crap. I probably should have brought something for them, too.”
Serizawa beamed. “Don’t worry Reigen-san; I put both our names on the gift tag!”
Reigen was taken aback, but squinted at the tag pasted to the red cellophane-wrapped paper plate. Sure enough, both their names were there in Serizawa’s clear, careful writing.
“Oh.” Words failed Reigen at the kindhearted gesture. “Thanks, Serizawa.”
Serizawa grinned wider, shaking the fresh snow from his curls. “No problem!”
They continued down the peaceful street in the direction of the Kageyama’s house, footsteps crunching in the snow. Fat flakes drifted all around them, muffling sound, blurring the landscape and lending it a strange sense of isolation, like they were the only two people in the world.
Reigen grinned at Serizawa, feeling suddenly a little giddy. “You ever catch snowflakes on your tongue as a kid?”
Serizawa’s eyes rounded. “No! I never spent much time outside, even as a kid. Other kids thought I was weird – I hid a lot.”
Reigen’s heart panged at that, but he froze the grin to his face, holding the pains of Serizawa’s past at bay and eager to help him make up for any lost time.
“You want to try it now?”
“Doesn’t that seem a little, you know, immature?”
“Serizawa, you spent two days last week doing arts and crafts to hang in the office.”
“That was to help bring in business!” Serizawa protested. “I heard customers love those kinds of gimmicks.”
“Ok, sure. Of course. Still, no one’s watching now, eh? No reason not to be a little silly? Here, I’ll try it first.” Reigen closed his eyes and opened his mouth wide, waiting for the soft, cold sensation of a snowflake on his tongue.
Instead, a well-packed clump of snow smacked him square in the face.
Reigen rocked back at the impact, sputtering and choking at the snow that filled his eyes and mouth.
“What the–!?”
He swiped at his snow-covered face and glared out at his surroundings, searching for the culprit. Serizawa held a glove-clad hand clasped over his mouth in shock, but was clearly trying not to laugh. Reigen followed his line of sight, turning around just in time to see a spiky black head duck behind a mound of snow.
A second head poked up from another snow mound a few meters away, one sporting a very familiar bowl-cut that peeked out from under a woolen winter hat.
It seemed they had arrived at the Kageyama’s neighborhood.
“Ritsu, I don’t know if that was very nice. Shishou wasn’t expecting it.” Mob blinked, trying to free the snowflakes that clung to his lashes as he looked up at Reigen. “Hi Shishou, what are you doing here?”
Ritsu’s head slowly rose back up over the top of his own snow fort, just enough for his eyes to peek over. They regarded Reigen with a predatory gleam, and Reigen would have bet money that another snowball was being held out of sight just below. Reigen pasted on a smile and shuffled a bit closer to Serizawa, just in case.
“No, no, Mob. It’s fine,” he said, wiping the last of the snow from his face. “We just dropped by to bring your family some treats, didn’t mean to interrupt your epic snow battle.”
Serizawa stepped forward, clutching the cookie plate, looking back and forth between the two forts with eyes bright with interest.
“Were you having a snowball fight? Like on TV?”
Mob nodded, and tossed a snowball in demonstration. It flew about two meters before landing on the snow-covered lawn, breaking into pieces with a soft psh.
Mob contemplated the location it had fallen, as though trying to understand where he’d gone wrong. Ritsu finally abandoned his post and stood up straight behind his snow fort. He walked to his brother, squeezing a snowball between his hands as he packed it tighter.
“I told you Nii-san, I think you’ll do better if you aim high up. Then your snowballs will at least go farther.” Ritsu tossed his snowball up and towards their own house in demonstration. It flew high, traveling much farther than Mob’s had. Mob nodded seriously, taking his brother’s advice as absolute fact.
Reigen saw an opportunity, and jumped on it before he could second-guess himself.
“Ritsu’s right, Mob. Here, let me show you my special technique for throwing snowballs–”
Ritsu whipped toward him, eyes narrowing.
“Oh, interesting. You want to try teaching my brother something else you know nothing about.”
“Hey, now,” Reigen said, hands flying up in a placating gesture. “I just think that, with my advanced knowledge of both natural and paranatural physics, I–”
Ritsu’s second snowball hit him in the face.
Reigen spluttered loudly and indignantly, but he didn’t miss the quickly-smothered guffaw from his left. He also saw, as soon as he’d cleared enough of the snow to see, a spark of humor in Mob’s face, the likes of which he hadn’t seen in weeks - not since Dimple’s abrupt and mysterious disappearance.
A new idea formed swiftly. Reigen wanted to encourage this light-hearted mood of Mob’s, and if Serizawa’s attitude towards holiday activities thus far proved anything, he would have an absolute blast having a snowball fight.
Reigen glared huffily down at Ritsu, who was looking smug.
“Oho, I see how it is. Young Ritsu, I do believe that was a challenge.” Reigen drew himself up to his full height. “What do you say–myself and Mob versus you and Serizawa for a snowball fight the likes of which you’ve never in your young life encountered? Unless, of course, you’re too timid?”
Fire flashed in Ritsu’s eyes. “I think that’s the most intelligent idea you’ve had yet, Reigen-san,” Ritsu said, too calmly. “Nii-san and I would love to participate.”
“Excellent. Um, and no psychic powers allowed,” Reigen added hastily, eyeing Ritsu’s expression. “With my skills, it wouldn’t be fair to the rest of you.”
Mob wandered bemusedly to Reigen’s side, clearly keen to join whatever Ritsu wanted to do. However, Serizawa hesitated.
“Reigen-san, you’re sure this isn’t too childish? What if a prospective client sees?”
“Come now, Serizawa, snowball fights are winter holiday tradition!” Reigen said firmly. “We must defend our honor! And we can’t disappoint the boys, can we?”
“Oh,” Serizawa said, his expression clearing as he nodded solemnly. “You’re right. I will do my best, Reigen-san.”
***
Reigen had miscalculated.
“Run, Mob! Run!” Reigen panted, legs flying as fast as they would go as he pelted down the Kageyama’s street. Mob ran beside him, panting a little but otherwise seeming far less concerned than Reigen thought was warranted. Of course, that might be because the barrage of snowballs being flung their way all seemed to be aimed at him.
He chanced a quick look behind him. Ritsu was only a dozen or so meters back, Serizawa keeping pace right beside him. They both had snowballs in hand and equally-determined looks on their faces.
Serizawa’s enthusiasm plus Ritsu’s teenage vindictiveness were, it seemed, a devastating combination. A snowball hit the street with a more solid sound than Reigen thought a snowball had any right to make, barely missing his own churning feet.
“Serizawa, you know this suit isn’t meant for running!”
“Then stop running and defend your honor, Reigen-san!”
Reigen managed to dig up more speed.
The Kageyama’s house rose before them; at some point, they must have turned back around. As if on cue, Mrs. Kageyama opened the door just as he was racing up to it.
“Ah, hello!” Reigen huffed as he darted in close to the doorway, too close for Ritsu and Serizawa to risk the civilian casualty. Mob followed, and Serizawa and Ritsu joined them a few feet from the doorway, both looking pleased as punch, snowballs mysteriously vanished.
“We… just came… to drop off… some cookies!” Reigen continued, between breaths. Serizawa nodded earnestly, the picture of a generous visitor, as the plate of cookies dropped into his hands from the air above them. Mrs. Kageyama didn’t bat an eye, clearly accustomed to random psychic phenomena occurring in her house.
“Oh, how kind of you!” She smiled warmly at the group of them. “I know how much Shigeo looks up to you, Reigen-san, and Serizawa-san, he’s told us so much about you! I was just about to call the kids in for dinner, but there’s plenty if the two of you’d like to join us?”
“Oh! I, uh,” Reigen was at a loss for words for the second time that night at this offer. He found himself looking to Serizawa, whose broad grin had reappeared.
“We’d love to, thank you!” Serizawa said, taking Reigen’s look as an invitation to accept for the both of them.
Reigen found himself ushered in with the rest of the group, and before he knew it was seated at the kitchen table with the entire family. No probing looks on this visit; instead, Mrs. Kageyama cheerily questioned him about his business while Mr. Kageyama added more rice to his plate. Serizawa had managed to draw Mob into a conversation about his athletic club, complimenting him on his speed that day. Even Ritsu, who’d been studying his brother’s minutely-cheered expression, passed Reigen his silverware with something that was almost a smile.
Reigen started when he felt a tap on his shoulder. He twisted to see Serizawa offering him a chocolate-chip cookie, edges only a little too dark.
“Thanks for coming with me today, Reigen-san. I–I can’t express my gratitude enough, on top of how you’ve helped me, giving me a job, and helping me with school and with getting used to interacting with other people…Especially,” he swallowed uncertainly. “Especially since I got the feeling you didn’t care much for the holidays…”
“Oh…it’s no problem Serizawa! Happy to help, of course!” Reigen took the cookie, waving a hand airily as Serizawa beamed at him before turning back to rejoin his conversation with Mr. Kageyama. Reigen bit into the cookie, munching contemplatively. Not half bad, he thought, relaxing into the conversation and company, his concerns about the train schedule forgotten despite the snow softly piling up outside.
