(Part 3)
The cops walk us down the hallway, slowly cause we’re both still in heavy chains.
The other guy is a cutie. He is about my age, skinny, clean shaven, and had sexy blonde hair. He had a diamond earring on his left ear, and a thin gold chain around his neck. He wore light blue jeans that sat halfway down his ass exposing his red Calvin Klein boxer briefs. I hope he ends up being my cell mate, and as he walks down the hallway in front of me I stare at his ass the whole time. At the end of the hallway there is another door, which the cops open. We step through into what seems like the central booking area. We’re walked over to a desk. We fill out paperwork, and get our fingerprints taken. Then we are sat down on hard plastic seats and wait for a bit. The other boy notices that the front of my jeans have now fallen below my dick bulge in my underwear and he reaches over and helps me pull them up, taking his time and touching my groin area with his hands. “Thanks bro”
“No problem dawg” he says, with a sexy deep boyish voice.
We sit in the chairs for a bit longer waiting for paperwork to be completed. Behind us in other rows other boys come in and sit down.
“So what they got you locked up in here for bro?” he asks me.
“I’m doing 10 days for driving with a suspended license and missing a court date, what about you?”
“2 weeks for my 2nd DUI. I’ve been arrested twice but this is my first time spending more than just a night in jail.”
“Oh yeah, I’ve been arrested once, only did a night as well”
“what’s your name dawg?”
“Luke, what’s yours”
“Tyler”
Two cops walk over to us and we are lifted out of the seat and walked over to another room that is set up for mug shots. I’m walked in front of the camera and get mine taken, then Tyler gets his taken.
We’re then walked over into another room where we kneel on a bench and finally a cop comes over and takes us both out of our shackles. He takes our hands out first and we place them behind our heads, then I feel him unlock the leg irons.
We both get thoroughly searched and then they hand us two light blue/gray uniforms and have us change into them. We’re allowed to keep our underwear.
The cops leave the room and Tyler and I change into our uniforms. I see Tyler take off his shirt, showing off his abs. Since his jeans sit low I also get to see more of his red boxer briefs, which fit him well and are nice and tight. Then he takes off his jeans and I get to see his big dick bulge. I take off my clothes as well and then we both put our uniforms on. Of course we both only pull our pants up to about halfway up our asses, and so I still get a good view of Ty’s but. Two cops come in and have us face the wall. We are given another pat down and then get handcuffed behind our backs. The cops take us out of the room and down a hallway. They open the door and take us up a set of stairs to the 2nd level. One of the cops unlocks a heavy door that opens into a long hallway with cells on both sides. Tyler and I are walked down the hallway past a bunch of cells that were filled. I hope we end up being put in the same cell.
Near the end of the hallway is a group of empty cells. The cops turn us towards the wall and then one of the cops unlocks the cell. They put us both into the cell and then they slam the heavy door behind us. I’m excited that Tyler is going to be my cell mate, and I can feel myself getting harder (though I was already a little hard just from looking at him). There is an opening in the door that they slide open, and they have us stick our hands out the opening so they can remove our handcuffs. Tyler and I get our cuffs taken off and then the cops leave.
Tyler says “Alright, now we just have to serve our time”. We both sit our asses down on the bench, our underwear touching the hard metal. I had started out so disappointed to go to jail, but with this hot guy Tyler getting to be my cellmate I’m not sure my time will be so bad.

"CLOWDER" for 30% off "Cat Lovers" section!
Hi! We are certified Crazy Cat People™️ and we need help. A week ago in the snow, while trying to trap a different cat we saw lurking around outside, this guy showed up on our porch drinking water left outside, pitiful and upset.
Tumblr media
This is now the 4th cat that has showed up on our back deck (and let us catch them!) in a little over a year. The first was a feral and needed hip surgery, 2nd was starving and had tapeworms like this guy, 3rd was a young lad who was also very skinny and grew quickly after we brought him in. All those cats, plus the 2 others we rescued/were given to us from what seemed like a hoarding situation, needed every single one of their shots, FIV/FeLV/heartworm testing, microchipping, and to be sterilized on our dime. And of course…our one pre-existing cat from before we moved here is very elderly and chronically ill.
When we pulled him in, we gave him praziquantel for the worms, a capstar for his fleas, and he's had 2 baths (both from him peeing himself from fear...poor guy). Thankfully, this guy also had very generous benefactors who paid for his testing! He is negative for FIV/FeLV, no longer has any intestinal parasites, doesn't have ear mites, urinalysis didn't seem concerning nor did CBC, he's got his rabies shot and first FVRCP, and he's feeling better enough to spend all his time screaming at the small window in his little room now. His neuter is scheduled for Feb 12th and prepaid, and after that he will be rehomed.
I'm disabled and my shop is my only job. My partner is currently out of work because he gets chronic migraines and has chronic back pain and they refused to schedule him manageable shifts so that his migraines would be triggered less often.
Rescues are all full; anyone involved in rescue small and large scale within the past few years knows the homeless animal population worldwide skyrocketed in 2020-21 because of the plague and how people reacted to it, and it was already horrible.
With 6 other cats, cats who permanently call our home their own, we are super, super financially overwhelmed. I'm trying to afford a Popur litter box before my own hip surgery in early March of this year to help alleviate some of the physical burden.

Please consider sharing the word about the cat-themed designs in my shop! If you want to help the cats directly, there is also this Amazon wishlist. Thank you so much for reading!

So I talk about how I wanna boink my manager at work a lot on Twitter. I flirt with him all the time but like in a playful way, but also I try to make subtle hints that I’m down. Cuz we’re waiting til we’re both fully vaxxed up to actually hang out. Anyways, today I fucked up cuz I looked in his eyes for a second too long and he noticed. He was like “Tyler what was that?” He said I had a look of bemusement?

Hii!! Saw your requests are open so i decided i'd shoot my shot lol :D it's my birthday today and i kinda have noone to celebrate with so could i ask for a Chifuyu, Mikey and Mitsuya scenario where everyone forgets the readers birthday? :,)
ps: i love your work sm <3
Birthday Treats!
(Chifuyu, Mikey and Mitsuya)
Author's note 📝: Everybody! Greet a belated happy birthday to our friend here! @chiifxyu I wish you the best in life sweetie~!
Warnings ⚠️: None but curse words!
Tumblr media
Chifuyu :
❥ Chifuyu wasn’t really a busy man, he had all the time in the world. And he unfortunately abused that privilege, going on roadtrips and such. Helping his friends out and whatnot. But he forgot about the fact that he had someone to return to. Someone who’d steadily open their arms again and again for his comfort.
❥ You were walking home, having an uneventful day at school. Hoping that the day would come to an end. You had texted Chifuyu earlier that day, hoping that he’d at least respond.
❥ Though all you got back was “Good morning, love~ Have a great day! I’ll be out with the boys.”
❥ You saw that coming, he hadn’t really been attentive this week. It seemed like he had lots of stuff going on with Takemitchy seeing as though they’ve been stuck like glue since the past week.
❥ Browsing through your phone to distract yourself from your thoughts, you hadn’t noticed it began to rain.
That was when somebody called out to you, well actually two boys called out to you. You looked back to see two figures waving their arms inside of a park entrance.
❥ “Y/n!” Chifuyu exclaimed with a smile, running towards you despite the rain, grabbing your bag for you before ushering you to the place where he and Takemitchy had been staying.
❥ “Why do you look so gloomy?” Takemitchy asked, scratching his head with a nervous smile, “Is it because I’ve been stealing Chifuyu from you? Ha ha~ Sorry.” He bowed to you, it was too sudden so you flinched before repeatedly telling him it was ok.
❥ “Yeah, Takemitchy, y/n understands! By the way dude, congrats on passing 2nd year, Baji flunked and so did Kazutora” Chifuyu chuckled at his friend's behavior.
❥ “Uh, well- thanks! It’s not something that should be congratulated though...I’ll get going first then! I have to go pick Hina up from her cram school, Sorry again y/n!” Takemitchy waved at both of you. You waved back before feeling Chifuyu’s gaze on you.
❥ “Should we go now? Or should we wait for the rain to stop.”  Chifuyu raised his hand out to you, knowingly expecting you to take it. Though he didn’t expect you to lean your head to his chest. Leaning down from your standing position.
❥ “Woah-”  “Can you congratulate me too?...”
“Y/n?” “It’s my birthday…”
❥ ‘F*ck’ Chifuyu thought as he internally screamed.
❥ “Wait here!” He exclaimed, gently pushing you away from him as he ran into the pouring rain.
❥ After about 5 minutes he came back, soaking wet and school uniform nowhere to be found.
❥ He handed you a plastic bag, when he looked inside there was a cute little red velvet cake.
❥ “Sorry...I know your favorite was [prefrence] but that was all they had at the store near. The next one was like 10 minutes away and I couldn’t make you wait that long…”
❥ He then got something from his pocket, a lighter. He lit it up before gesturing it to you.
❥ “Happy birthday, Y/n”
Tumblr media
Mitsuya :
❥ He was a good boyfriend, he was a great boyfriend even, but he’s got a lot on his mind. It’s a jumbled mess if you take a peek in there.
❥ But you hadn’t expected him to forget your birthday. It was 6 am when Mitsuya texted you, “Hey babe, Do you think you could come to my house? It’s urgent…”
❥ You thought it was some sort of surprise, maybe you shouldn’t have expected something. He had brought you there to use as a model. And though you were flattered by him saying “everything looks good on you, you make the best model” It still hurt to have him unconsciously forget your birthday.
❥  You knew him as a natural romantic, showing up to your house whenever you had a date with roses, smooth talking your mom to make her accept him, to being the manly person your dad wanted him to be. He was the perfect boyfriend who did everything right, until today.
❥ You did your best to support him as well. Did your best to provide him comfort and happiness, you both were a match made in heaven and you’d be a fool to let this bother you.
❥  With fabric wrapped around you like a blanket, it was impossible to move without ripping the dainty fabric. Mitsuya had made sure you were comfortable though. After 2 hours his phone rang.
❥  He went to check it out, only to see a big bolded “Y/n:))” on the screen, he wondered what it was for when he saw the date. *Thump!*
❥ “Mitsuya?” you glanced at his frozen figure, sewing materials falling on the floor. “Wha-” you started before you felt yourself get covered with a very expensive fabric he made sure to tell you not to touch.
❥ ‘F*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck’ he murmured to himself as he ran out of his house. Looking like a crazy madman as he looked around for something. Finally he met a grandpa on the street who lent him something along with a purchase.
❥ To say you were confused was an understatement, what had happened? Were your friends in an emergency? You had long lost hope for him to remember your birthday.
❥ You were about to call for anyone else who was in the house before you heard someone clear their throat, along with a clear microphone ring.
“You're my vice
You're my muse
You're a nineteenth  floor view
I don't see nobody but you
Girl, you got me hooked on to something
Who could say that they saw us coming?
Tell me
Do you feel the love?”
❥ You heard him sing, the fabric slowly being rid off of you, a teddy bear and a rose in his hands as he sang for you.
❥ “Do you got plans tonight?
I’m a couple hundred miles from Japan and I~”
❥ His husky and deep voice was a perfect mix of sultry and sweet.
❥ “So do you have plans? I’ll make it up to you”
Tumblr media
Mikey :
❥ A busy man with a busy life, it was no wonder he had forgot necessary events in his life, his only brain cells were always getting knocked out of him in fights, though they rarely landed a hit on him you really can’t get away unscathed with fights involving at least 100+ people.
❥ However he had been missing along with the rest of the gang for a week now. You thought for sure he’d come back by now, but there were no signs.
❥  Now, he knew he was a forgetful person. He knew how much he forgets on the daily, but he swore to god he didn’t want to forget a thing about you.
❥ So what did he do? Buy custom rings that had each other’s birthday on it. He was so proud showing that ring off, honestly. He’d look at it everyday with a smile on his face, or just unconsciously play with it.
❥ So you had a reason to believe he’d come back for your birthday. But night-time had already come, and there were no signs. That was until you Hina had called, informing you that they were on their way to their base to lead an emergency meeting.
❥ Outraged, you sneaked out of your house before immediately sprinting to the place.
❥ All of the members of the gang was present, each holding their hands behind them as they listened to Mikey’s speech. At least until an ominous energy sent a chill down their spines, even Mikey had to stop from uneasiness.
❥ Though before anyone could point you out, A satisfying blow hit Mikey in the stomach, do not underestimate angry women. He was sent hurling through the ground before the members on the bottom.
❥ Draken had flinched and was about to stop you, until he saw a tear sliding down your face, “Y/n…” “Do you know...how hard I tried to look for all of you?”
❥ You ignored the hesitating Draken, walking down the steps before you stomped on Mikey’s groaning body.
❥ “Couldn’t you have at least called me!? Left a letter?! Or at least just one word from you!!!” Mitsuya flinched as he heard the sound of the pavement breaking, urging the other to look away or turn around to save their leader from further embarrassment.
❥ “WAIT! TIME OUT! HEY!! Oh. wait. What’s today?” “THE DAY YOU DIE *SSH*LE!”
❥ Finally, Draken made a move to make you release Mikey, though that was all he did before Mikey stood up with a little help from Smiley. Before he limped towards you, grabbing your wrist as he ran (limped) to his motorcycle.
❥ Ignoring the shouts of protest from other members “MIKEY! We had a fight today!!!” “IF YOU LEAVE BAJI’S THE ONE WHO’S GONNA SET UP PUNISHMENT FOR YOU”
❥ He said nothing as he made you wear a helmet and forcefully made you hold his waist, riding against the dark night feeling more and more guilty by the second as he heard and felt every sniffle that came out of your mouth.
❥ Finally, you guys arrived at his planned destination. The beach where he’d take you for dates because it was calming.
❥ Sadly, he did not make it on time, being hours late. The sun had started to rise.
❥ “I’m sorry for being late...but happy birthday”

marriage story
pairing: bucky barnes x reader
word count: 5,641
summary: Fake marrying Bucky was only supposed to be a means to an end.
prompt: college au, fake marriage au, and enemies to lovers
warnings: swearing, talk of past sexual abuse
a/n: This was written for @broadwayandnetflix for @bucky-smiles‘s Secret Santa!  SURPRISE!!!!  I’m so sorry I’m a day late, I just wanted to make sure it was as good as I could make it!!  I really hope you enjoy!!!
You weren’t sure how you ended up staring at divorce papers.
Hell, you’d just graduated college three weeks ago and had miraculously landed your first job that was conducive to your career.
And now, you were a divorcée at the age of twenty-one.
Granted, your marriage had lasted much longer than a lot of those that happened when the two people were teenagers.
It had also been fake, but that’s beside the point.
You read over the divorce papers for the eightieth time since they’d arrived.  Both of you took your individual things, no need for lawyers…
It had all seemed so simple when it first began.  A means to an end.
You were eighteen and stupid.  Desperate.  You had no idea what the consequences would be.
You had no idea that you’d actually fall in love with your husband.
He’d needed to live off campus since he couldn’t afford the on campus housing.  At a minimum of seven thousand dollars a school year, it was ridiculous.  You couldn’t really afford it either, but the school had a rule that you couldn’t live off campus until your junior year, and the two of you were still second semester freshmen.
Then there was the issue with your FAFSA.  You weren’t exactly on good terms with your parents.  And by not on good terms, you meant that you didn’t speak to them.  At all.  Getting their tax information wasn’t going to happen, and it wasn’t like they were helping you pay for college.
But FAFSA wouldn’t let you fill it out as an independent student until you were twenty-one.  Apparently, being cut off from your parents wasn’t enough of a ‘special circumstance’ to allow it.
But, there was one little thing that could fix all that.
Matrimony.
If you were married, you’d have to file independently.  No questions asked about parents.
And the university would allow you to live off campus, too.
It was a perfect solution.  A quick little trip to the courthouse.
Living together had seemed logical.  A little two bedroom apartment was much cheaper than seven thousand dollars for nine months in a dorm room you had to share.
Plus, you had to keep up the illusion to the school and the government that you were married.
Outside of living together though, there wasn’t much needed.  Each of you wore a fake ring when you went to your meetings with your advisor and your classes.  It kept the rabid frat boys away from you, at least.
And then there were the scholarships.  Turns out, there are scholarships specifically for married college kids, and your advisor thought you were just perfect for it because she’d never met such a wonderful couple.
It was all perfect.  Until it wasn’t.
First off, you and Bucky didn’t even really like each other when all of this started.  You only knew each other because you were best friends with Natasha, who was his best friend’s girlfriend.  It had actually been the two of them that had gotten the idea in the first place.
Tumblr media
“So, I’m sure you’re wondering why we gathered you here today,” Steve said, and you couldn’t help but roll your eyes.
“Steve, this is my room.”
This was not how you wanted to spend your Saturday night.  You’d worked a double that day, from eight in the morning to ten that night.
The perks of working at a bar that did Mimosa Mornings on the weekends.  The worst part was that you weren’t even allowed to take a shot or two to help you get through it since you were eighteen.
Stupid fucking law.  If you could work in a bar, you should be able to drink to deal with the customers.  Because fuck, they’re horrible.
But you made more than you’d be making at Buffalo Wild Wings, that’s for sure.
“Can we just get whatever this is over with?” Bucky asked from across the room.  He definitely wasn’t keen to be stuck in a room with you for any longer than necessary.  “I have work in the morning.”
“Same here,” you added, narrowing your eyes at the two who sat in front of you.
Natasha was your best friend and your roommate, but fuck were you ready to put out a ‘New Friends Wanted’ sign.  You could take applications.
Requirement number one: Must not be dating the best friend of the most annoying prick in the world AKA Bucky Barnes.
Requirement number two: Must not be waiting to ambush you in your own dorm room with said prick.
“So, both of you are having issues with the university,” Nat said as she took out a bunch of papers.  “The dorms are crazy expensive and you’re not allowed to live off campus.  Also, FAFSA is ridiculous.”
“And we have a solution,” Steve said, a grin on his face.  He was such a giver.  He loved his friends more than anything in the world and would literally give anything for them.  Seriously.  You’d once watched him actually give the shirt off his back to Bucky when the latter had gotten drunk at a party and puked all over his.
He’d also gotten it on your shoes, and Bucky had just burped and said, “They look better now.”
The disgusting asshole.
“Well, spit it out,” you said, rubbing your temples.  You were still in your uniform, a pair of cut off jean shorts and a tank top.  Your hair smelled like cigarette smoke and someone’s beer that they spilled on you.  “I’d like to go to sleep before sunrise, please.”
“You two could get married.”
Both you and Bucky stared at them like they’d grown two heads.
“I’m sorry…  What the fuck did you just say?” You asked, standing up.
Natasha rushed to continue, still grinning.  “If you two get married, the university will let you live off campus, and FAFSA will let you file as independent!”
“And it’s cheap!  A marriage license only costs like… fifty bucks?  Something like that!” Steve said.
Well…  It wasn’t… a horrible idea, even if you and Bucky might end up killing each other before then.
“I don’t know...,” you said, the whole idea making you nervous.  Marriage?  Come on.
Bucky crossed his arms over his chest defensively.  “I really don’t want to be married to her.  We’d kill each other before we hit our six month anniversary,” he mocked, shooting a glare your way.
“It would only be until you graduate!” Natasha said.  “And then, you two get divorced and it becomes a funny story to tell at parties!”
You shared a look across the room with the brunette.  It would solve your problems…
“Fine.”
Turns out, getting married was a lot easier than you thought it would be.  All four of you went to the courthouse that next Tuesday when all of you had a break in between classes.
You wore a sweatshirt and leggings, your ratty sneakers that were covered in mud along the bottom.  Bucky wore jeans and a university hoodie.
Not exactly usual wedding attire.
Natasha, ever the optimist ever since she met Steve, had shoved a daisy she’d picked in your hair.
And an hour later, you’d walked out as Mrs. Barnes.
Tumblr media
Wrapping your arms around yourself, you stood up from the couch and walked around the little place you’d called home since you were eighteen.
It had been quiet the first few months.  You signed a lease on an apartment a few blocks from campus and had moved in right at the end of the school year, but he went home with Steve to Brooklyn, New York.
You were alone the entire summer except for the few weekends that Natasha managed to come visit.  The only time you and Bucky spoke was when he texted you to let you know when he was moving in.
And that’s when the fighting had started.
As you stared at a picture of the two of you on the wall, you couldn’t help but laugh.  In the photo, you two were sitting on the couch, holding a cake that Natasha and Steve had gotten you as a joke.  HAPPY 2ND ANNIVERSARY! was written across it in bright blue icing.
It was a far cry from when you two had first moved in.  Everything was an issue.  You didn’t do this, he did that, the both of you wanted to watch different movies and he had brought the television but you’d brought the DVD player.  Everything.  Hell, you’d sleep on the bean bag in Natasha’s dorm some nights because even being in the same apartment as him was too much.
Eventually, there was compromise.  An understanding grew between you and with that, a truce.  You couldn’t keep living like you were.
You were pretty sure the war had finally, silently ended one late night in October.  It was the weekend before Halloween, and you’d had the worst shift of your life.
Tumblr media
Your keys clanged as you unlocked the front door, trying to open it as quietly as possible.  Even from where you stood, you could see the clock above the stove that read 1:42 AM.  You were supposed to be off at ten, but that clearly hadn’t happened.  One of the other girls working had gotten sick and you were forced to cover the few hours she was supposed to work alone until close.
And to add onto that, you made less the entire weekend than you had last Friday night.  You’d been hit on, groped, yelled at.  Fuck.  You just wanted to collapse in your bed.
“You’re home late.”
“Fuck!” You jumped in shock, your heart pounding in your chest.  God.  Your anxiety had just spiked and the exhaustion you’d been feeling was replaced with your fight or flight instinct.
Bucky was standing in the hallway entrance, brows furrowed.  “Sorry.  I didn’t mean to scare you.”  He had on those gray sweats that he looked so good in…
No!  Down girl!  Bad!
It didn’t matter that he was hot.  He was a total dick.
Though, lately he’d be rather kind.  Nice.  There’d been less fights in the past few weeks.
You cleared your throat, looking away from him.  “Yeah, Wanda got sick, so I had to close.”
“There’s dinner in the microwave,” he said, shoving his hands in his pockets.
“Oh.  Thank you.”
He nodded, before disappearing down the hall.  It surprised you when you heard the bath start, but whatever.  Whether or not he took baths was none of your business.
You were surprised to find a huge bowl of vegetable soup in the microwave.  Huh.  You’d just been talking to Natasha about how much you missed your mom’s homemade version.
Whatever.  It wasn’t like you’d ever be having that again.
You let your head rest on the counter as you waited for the soup to heat up.  Fuck.  Your entire body ached.
“Hey, do you want epsom salt?” Bucky called out from the bathroom.
“Uh, what?” You said as you raised your head.  Even just moving that little made your head pound.
He poked his head out of the doorway, his long hair pulled back in a bun.  “For your bath?  Do you want epsom salt?”
“My bath?  What the hell are you talking about?” You asked as the microwave beeped.
Bucky leaned against the doorframe.  “The bath that I’m currently running you.  Do.  You.  Want.  Epsom.  Salts?”
There was a long pause as the two of you stared at each other.  “Yeah,” you said finally, your voice coming out a lot smaller than you expected.  “That would be nice.”
Once he’d disappeared back into the bathroom, you pulled out your phone and texted Nat.
To: Tasha
Why is Barnes acting weird?
From: Tasha
Which one of you?
Get it?
Cause you’re married?
To: Tasha
Yeah
I got it.
But he’s being fucking weird.
From: Tasha
How so?
To: Tasha
He made me dinner?  At least, he poured vegetable soup from a can into a bowl and left it in the microwave.
Oh
And he’s running me a bath???
V V strange.
If I don’t text you tomorrow
It’s probably because he killed me
From: Tasha
Oh that
To: Tasha
What do you mean
“Oh that”????
NATASHA
ANSWER YOUR PHONE
From: Tasha
Sorry, was talking to Steve
He mentioned you’d been working a lot and how tired you were so I told him he should do something nice.
And I may have told him that you missed your mom’s vegetable soup.
So that probably explains that.
“Hey, it’s ready,” Bucky said as he came into the kitchen.  “I’ve got some towels in the dryer going, so they’ll be all warm when you’re ready to get out.”  He seemed so… laissez-faire about it.  Like you two didn’t fight on a daily basis usually.  He watched as you took a bite of the soup, his blue eyes zeroed in on you.  “Do you like it?” He asked.  “I tried following my ma’s recipe.  Don’t know how well it went.”
You couldn’t help but moan around the spoon as the warm soup went down.  Even reheated, it was amazing.  “This is your mom’s recipe?  It’s amazing.”
His cheeks flushed as he tried to hide a grin.  “Thanks.  I’ve missed her cooking.”
It was silent as you finished up the soup, the only sound being the spoon clanging against the bowl.  It wasn’t until you set your dishes in the sink to wash the next day that he spoke again.
“Oh, I got you this,” he said as he pulled out a box.  “I saw my advisor and he knows that we’re married and he mentioned that we still don’t have rings, so I just went and grabbed a ring from a thrift store.”
It was then that you noticed the simple silver band on his left ring finger, glinting in the low light.
“You didn’t have to do that,” you said as you took the box.  But your breath was stolen from your lungs as you opened it, revealing a gorgeous diamond engagement ring with a matching diamond wedding band.  “It’s…  It’s beautiful…  Thank you…”
“You’re welcome,” he said softly, rubbing the back of his neck.  “Uh, you go ahead and get in the bath.  I’ll bring you the towels when they’re done.”
As you sat in the bath, you couldn’t help but stare at the rings that now resided on your left hand.  They glinted in the low light of the candles that had been placed in various places around the bathroom, most likely lit with Bucky’s lighter from the local smoke shop.
They were absolutely stunning.
Maybe… just maybe… this marriage wouldn’t be as bad as you first thought it would be.
Tumblr media
You glanced over at the table as your phone buzzed, running to it.  Maybe it’s Bucky…
But your hope was dashed as you realized it was Natasha calling you.
You hadn’t realized you’d been crying until a drop of water fell on the screen.  Wiping your eyes, you brought it up to your ear.  “Hey, Tasha!  What’s up?”  You couldn’t help but wince.  You sounded like a fucking real estate agent.  Perfect and peppy and… not you.
“Hey, I just wanted to call and see how you’re doing,” she whispered, as though she was trying to keep someone else from hearing.  “Bucky got the divorce papers today and I figured that meant you did, too.”
Ah, another thing.  He’d been staying at Steve and Natasha’s place since all of you had graduated, and the time had come for the divorce.  He’d gotten all of his things out within two days, except for the hoodie you were currently cocooned in and your wedding rings.
“I know how much you love this place,” he’d said with a wry smile.  “So you can have it in the divorce settlement.”
It had been a joke.  The divorce settlement.  Like you two had actually been in love and things just hadn’t worked out.
Tumblr media
“You aren’t gonna change the Netflix password on me, right?” You asked as you stood in the doorway of Bucky’s room, arms crossed over your chest.  “Because I’m still paying for half of it.”
Buck grinned at you as he taped the last box shut.  “I don’t know…  Might change it up on you.  Have it all to myself.  Then my suggested movies and shows won’t be so fucked up,” he teased.
You rolled your eyes, glaring at him.  But there was no heat behind it.  “We have separate profiles on there, you dumbass.  So if Gossip Girl is on your suggested, that’s your fault.”
The laugh that erupted from his mouth made him throw his head back, his eyes crinkling at the corners.
Seeing Bucky Barnes laugh was one of the Seven Wonders of the World.  It was better than the Great Pyramids of Giza, the Taj Mahal, and the Great Wall of China all rolled into one.
“We’re still gonna have Thursday night movies, right?” You asked, trying to ignore the way your voice cracked.
In the three years since you’d gotten married, Thursday night had become your sort of fake Date Night.  You two would order takeout and watch movies until the both of you passed out of the couch.  You both changed your availability at your jobs to let them know that you couldn’t work Thursdays.  Not even Natasha and Steve were allowed to intrude.  It was just your special night to hang out.
“I’ll bring the food.  Do you want Thai or Mexican?” He asked, his features a little softer.
“I’ll text you what I want,” you said.  Biting your lip, you toyed with the rings on your left hand.  “I guess I should give you these back, huh?”  You started to slip them off, but he stopped you.
“They’re yours,” he said, his hand closing over yours.  His blue eyes shimmered in the light as you swallowed.  “Keep them… as a reminder of your former husband.”  The corner of his mouth twitched, but you couldn’t tell if he was going to smile or frown.
“I’m gonna miss you,” you said, suddenly surging forward to hug him.  “Even though you’re super annoying.”
Bucky laughed as he wrapped his arms around you just as tight.  “I’m gonna miss you, too.”
Tumblr media
“How’s he doing?” You asked as you moved to what had formerly been Bucky’s room.  It was now completely bare, except for a single gum wrapper on the floor.  You sank down against the wall as you stared at it.  Extra wintermint gum.  Because he absolutely hated spearmint.
“About as well as you, I imagine,” she said slowly, choosing her words ever so carefully.  “I don’t know.  He went out for a walk a few minutes ago.  But he locked himself in the guest room for hours after getting the papers.”
You let your head fall back against the wall, staring up at the ceiling as you tried to stop another onslaught of tears.  “This is what we wanted,” you said, your voice cracking.
A pause.  You could feel the tension even through the phone, a can of worms Natasha was about to open.  “Is it?  Is this what you wanted?”
“This was always the plan!” You retorted, the tears coming in a wave now.  “We’d stay married until after we graduated and then we’d divorce.  No drama, no court, no lawyers.  Just a means to an end.”
You could hear her whispering to someone that you knew was Steve on the other end for a few seconds, the sound muffled.  She’d probably covered the speaker.  “Do you want me to come over?” She finally asked.
“No,” you said with a sigh, rubbing the hell of your palm against your eyes.  “I just wanna… curl up in bed and watch cheesy movies and never come out.”
You didn’t understand.  Why did this hurt so bad?  He was just a friend.  You two had never even kissed, for crying out loud.  This wasn’t some fanfiction where you two fell into bed one drunken night and then woke up with feelings.  This wasn’t an ‘Oh no, there’s only one bed’ type of deal with 100K+ words on AO3.  You two were just friends.  Really.  There was no happy ending for the two of you waiting.
“Are you still gonna go to the Barnes’s Fourth of July party?” Natasha asked, her voice softer.
You pulled your knees up to your chest, resting your chin on your knee caps.  “There’s no point.  We’re not married anymore.”
“Sweetheart,” she chided.  “You know he’d want you there.  So would his family.  You’re still a Barnes, even if you change your last name back.”
“I don’t know,” you said, chewing on your bottom lip.  “I like the last name Barnes better.  It’s not like I have any connection to my old last name.  Maybe…”  You swallowed.  “Maybe I should keep it.  It costs money to change it back, after all.  It’s on my license now.”
Ah, yes.  Because your license had expired while you were married and you’d had to get a new one.
“You’re a Barnes now and forever, hon,” she teased.  You could hear her smile through the phone.  “And you know Winifred would be pissed as hell if you didn’t go.  You’re her daughter now just as much as Bucky is her son.”
God, the tears came on like a tsunami when you remembered the Barneses.  George, Winifred, Becca, all of them.  Especially Winifred.  Sweet, sweet Winnie that had become your mom in the years since you’d met her.
Tumblr media
“Bucky, I don’t know about this,” you said as you walked up the steps to his place.  Or, rather, his parents’ place.  “I should just go home.”
“Don’t be ridiculous,” he scoffed as he searched for the right key.  “I’m not letting you drive the way back just to spend Christmas alone.”
Truthfully, it was stupid to even suggest.  Your apartment that you shared with him now was over eight hours away, and it was two days before Christmas Eve.
God, how the hell did you end up here?  You’d been planning on spending it alone, just like you had Thanksgiving.
But when Bucky had come back from the break and realized that you hadn’t gone anywhere, it’d prompted him to ask why, which had then resulted in him insisting on you accompanying him to New York City for Christmas with his family.
“What if they don’t like me?” You asked, barely audible.  In truth, you were terrified.  This was your first holiday season that you were away from your parents.  Thanksgiving had been strange, and you had certain it wasn’t going to get any better up until a few weeks ago.
Bucky stopped suddenly, looking at you with big blue eyes.  “Sweetheart, they’re going to adore you,” he said, more sincere than he’d been since the two of you had gotten married.  “How could they not?”
“You didn’t!”
“Yeah, well, you didn’t like me either.  And then we got to know each other.”
He had a point.
You grumbled, staring down at your boots.  They were still covered in snow.
“And besides, Ma hasn’t shut up about meeting you ever since she found out about you,” he muttered as he finally found the right key.  “Dad said she’s been obsessively cleaning the house since she found out you were coming.”
As soon as the opened the door, you were hit with a wall of sound.  A woman with the same shade of hair as Bucky rushed forward, trapping the six foot man in a hug.  “YOU’RE HOME!”
“Winnie, come on, don’t suffocate the boy.”  A man with Bucky’s eyes appeared, his hands shoved in his pockets.  He was trying to appear nonchalant, but the second he was free of his mother’s grasp, he was dragging him into another hug.  “I’ve missed you, son.”
“And you must be his wife!” Winifred Barnes said, suddenly turning on you.
“Ma, she has a name.”
“I know that!”
“Winnie–”
You were pulled into a hug, and you were suddenly overwhelmed with feelings.  Maybe it was just the fact that you hadn’t hugged your own mother in so long, or maybe it was just because Winifred was that lovely of a person.  Either way, you were tearing up as she hugged you tightly.  You gave her your name as she pulled back, looking over your face.
“Oh, you’re even prettier than Jamie said!”
Your cheeks flushed as Bucky grumbled out a quiet “Ma…”
It was then that you were swept into the apartment, finding it bustling with people.  You were then introduced to the rest of his family: his younger sister, Becca, who was going to be a senior in high school and was SO grateful to have a new sister, his aunts, his uncles, his parents.  The entire apartment was bursting with people even days before the actual holiday.
It wasn’t until after dinner (which was absolutely delicious) that you were able to capture a quiet moment in the kitchen, helping Winifred wash dishes.
“Thank you for having me over,” you said, to break the silence.  It wasn’t uncomfortable, surprisingly, you just felt like you needed to vocalize your thanks for what was probably the third time.  “It means a lot.”
“Any friend of Jamie’s is a friend of ours,” she said as she rinsed off a plate.  “And we’re so grateful for what you’re doing.  He mentioned that it helps you, too, but…  Our family can’t afford to pay for his housing.  We can barely make his tuition.”  She looked at you with crystal clear eyes that seemed to bore into your soul.  “We’re so happy to have you.”  She then paused, glancing over at the side of the sink, where you’d set your wedding rings just to make sure they didn’t slip off in the water.  “You know, I was so happy when he asked for my ring.  He’s always dreamed of giving it to a girl.”
“What?” You asked, looking at her in shock.
Winifred paused, her brows furrowed in a way that really reminded you of your husband.  “Did he not tell you?  The engagement ring is mine.  But he saved up over the summer to buy a matching band for it.”
Your heart raced in your chest as you stared at the rings.  Bucky had gotten his ma’s ring for you?  But… why?  You two were barely friends at this point.
“I would’ve been spending Christmas alone if it wasn’t for him inviting me,” you said, breaking her stare to look down at your soapy hands.  “He found out I spent Thanksgiving at home and almost shit a brick.”  You rushed to cover your mouth, to apologize, but she just snorted.
An easy smile tugged at her lips.  “Holidays are a big thing for our family, and I guess we passed that down to Jamie.  Everyone comes to town for about a week and we spend it drinking and shooting the shit, baking.  We can’t afford much, so our gifts are usually just spending time together,” she said.
“It sounds nice,” you whispered as you scrubbed absentmindedly at a pan.  “My family… even when I still talked to them, we were never big on holidays.”  Winifred had gone quiet beside you.  “It was always just us.  We’d eat dinner together and sometimes I’d get a present, but mostly it was just spent like any other day.”
She took a deep breath, setting a plate on the drying rack.  “What… happened?  If you don’t mind me asking?”
“I… confronted my parents about the sexual abuse I went through as a kid,” you said slowly, swallowing around the lump that had suddenly formed in your throat.  “My cousin…  He, uh…  He’s only a year and a half older than me.  From the time I was… four or five, I think, to about twelve, he would… you know.”  The kitchen felt deadly silent, and you were so glad that the rest of the Barnses, including Bucky, were in the living room.  Even though he knew the basics of what had happened, you never told him details.  “And my parents would punish me for it when he got caught.  They blamed me.  They’d ground me or spank me or… whatever.”  You let out a weak laugh, trying to lighten the mood.  “They didn’t really take it well.  It doesn’t matter though.  I’m fine.”
You were shocked when you were suddenly pulled into a tight hug.  Winifred’s arms formed a cocoon around you and you could feel her tears on your face.  She was only an inch or two taller than you.  “That was not your fault,” she gasped out, holding you to her.  “That was not your fault.”
Before you realized what was happening, you were clutching onto her as hot tears streamed down your cheeks.
You didn’t know how long she’d held you before she leaned back, wiping away your tears.  Or at least, trying to before they were replaced with more.  “You are not what he did to you, you hear me?” She asked, wiping at her own face.  “You are always welcome here.  We’re your family now.”
“What’s going on here?”
The both of you turned to see Bucky in the doorway, his sea blue eyes wide.  He was holding a few extra plates that had been left behind.
“Nothing,” she said with a watery grin.  “Just… talking.”
“Here,” he said as he walked over and put the dishes inside the sink filled with soapy water.  “I’ll finish up with my wifey here, and you go clean up before dad freaks out because you’re crying.”
She barked out a laugh, nodding.  “Fine.  Fine.  You know how he gets if I’m upset,” she said, kissing your forehead before leaving.
“So… You actually okay?” Bucky asked as he took over rinsing the dishes you washed.
The smile that found its way onto your lips was real, surprisingly, as you said, “Everything’s great, Jamie.”
And even though he let out a groan, he was smiling, too.
Tumblr media
It was after that trip that you’d started calling him Jamie.  It just… felt better rolling off your tongue than Bucky ever did.  It was also when holidays in Brooklyn became a permanent thing.  Anytime Bucky went home, so did you.
They were your family.
But now…  Now what?  Did you lose them like you lost your parents?
Granted, losing your parents wasn’t exactly the worst thing.
“Sweetheart?  You there?” Natasha asked, bringing you back to the present.
“Yeah,” you said, shaking your head to clear out the cloudiness of your memories.  “Yeah, I’m–”  You broke off as you heard a knock at the door, a frown tugging at your lips.  “Hold on, Tasha, I’ll call you back…”  You hung onto your phone as you walked to the front door, peeking through the peephole.
Bucky?...  What the fuck was he doing here?
You opened the door wide, shocked to find him crying.  His eyes were puffy and red, his nose running.  “Jamie?  What’s wrong?”  You reached forward to touch his shoulder, shoving your phone in your back pocket.
“Don’t sign those papers.”
“Wait…  What?”  Now you were even more confused.  Your brows furrowed as you pushed his hair back from his face.  God, he needed a haircut.  Maybe you could…  No.  Not the focus right now.
He stepped toward, half inside the apartment that had been his, too, just two weeks before.  His large, calloused hand caressed your face.  “I don’t want to not be your husband,” he said, his voice cracking.
Your heart thundered inside your chest and you were half sure this was some kind of trick of your mind to soothe its aching.  “What do you mean?”
“I want to make this work,” he said as he cupped your face in his hands.  “I… I want to actually have Thursday night Date Nights and take you out and when we go home for the holidays, I want to kiss you under the mistletoe my ma always hangs up, and I want you to wear my ma’s ring.  I want to be your husband.  Please.”
You didn’t realize you were crying–yet again, fucking damn it–until he wiped them away.  “I don’t want to not be your wife, either,” you said, your voice shaking.  “I love you, I love you so much.”
His lips met yours in a blazing kiss, holding you closer than you thought possible.  “I love you more,” he whispered against your lips.  “I’m never letting you go.”
You dragged him inside, shutting the door before kissing him again.  “You’re staying here.  None of this bullshit of you staying with Tasha and Steve.”
“Gladly,” he chuckled, holding onto your waist.  “But only if I get to sleep in your bed.”
“Only if we can shred those divorce papers.”
The moment was interrupted by his phone ringing, and you couldn’t help but giggle when you saw it was Winifred.  He shot you an apologetic look as he answered it.  “Hey, ma.”
She was speaking so loudly you could hear her clearly.  “Well?!  How did it go?!  Did you ask her?!”
“Yes, I asked her,” he said slowly, squeezing your side.  “She said yes.  I’m with her now.”
Both of you flinched away as she screamed in excitement.  “GIVE HER THE PHONE!  GIVE HER THE PHONE!”
You smiled as you pressed it to your ear.  “Hi, mom.”
“BABY!  I’M SO HAPPY!  NOW WE CAN HAVE A REAL WEDDING!”  She was speaking at a hundred miles an hour.  “Do you want a summer or fall wedding?  I think it might be too late to do summer, but I’m sure we could scrounge something together!”
You giggled as Bucky stole kisses from you while she was speaking, distracting you.
“Sweetheart?  You there?”
“A late summer wedding sounds perfect,” you said, unable to wipe the grin from your face.  “Absolutely perfect.”

Behind the glass wall were several blurry figures busying around.
MC: This should be Team A's area.
Mya had suddenly called a few minutes ago to give me directions to the place I was supposed to report to.
I ran what I was going to say to everyone, in the form of an introduction, through my head once more before gently clearing my throat and opening the door.
❖☆———————————★❖
Tumblr media
MC: Hello everyone, I'm—
Thunk!
The sound of metal heavily hitting the floor cut my words short as the handle of the door completely fell off.
MC: !?
Did I break it? No way! I broke the office's door on my first day here!?
I didn't quite know what to do for a while. One of the figures closest to the door turned slightly around at the noise.
He had a head full of spiky hair, like that of a hedgehog. He didn't spare even a glance at the door handle; instead, his gaze fell directly upon my person. He shot up from the seat of his workstation.
Tumblr media
??: Yoooooou!!
MC: Sorry! It wasn't on purpose, I swear!
??: You're the newcomer that's supposed to be coming in today, right? Sister Zheng Lin, we've got an extra hand!
He excitedly yelled at the other end of the office.
This isn't quite turning out like how I imagined it to be...
Summoned by his yell, a plump woman speed-walked towards us. Her smile was friendly, but there was a sort of unconcealable exhaustion marring her features.
Tumblr media
Zheng Lin: Hello. Welcome to Team A. I'm the leader, Zheng Lin.
MC: Hello. Um… I accidentally broke your door handle just now… Sorry…
??: Aw, that thing's been dead half a month ago. We just didn't have time to call someone down to fix it. Don't mind it, yeah?
??: C'mere. I'll bring you to your workstation. Your stuff looks pretty heavy. I'll take it for you, yeah?
He enthusiastically takes the office appliances I'd brought in from my hands and continues walking straight ahead.
Zheng Lin: That works too. I'll leave you to bring her around to meet the others then, Brother Mao. I'll come over once I'm finished up here.
I nodded, following after "Brother Mao".
Tumblr media
Brother Mao: I'm Mao Ge, but you can call me Brother Mao! The best rock singer among all Designers here!
He grinned, pulling out a chair and gesturing for me to sit. He then magicked out a rag from god-knows-where and quickly gave the table a wipedown.
Brother Mao: You were 2nd place in the contest, right? We all watched the broadcast; it was absolutely brilliant.
Brother Mao: Especially when you chose Director Qi of all people. Boy, that was a killer! How did you dare to pick him?
Brother Mao: Forget his face, even his breath alone is an icy sub-zero.
Brother Mao: Ever seen an iron tree bloom? I'd say even that's slightly more common than seeing Director Qi smile.
Brother Mao: I'm not talking about his cold smiles, of course. We see that way too often.
MC: Eh? … I just thought getting him to review my work was a rare chance that I couldn't pass up on.
Brother Mao: You go, girl! Looks like we've finally got a competent person in Team A! Feel free to ask me anything if you face any problems in the future! I've gotcha covered!
He grinned, patting himself on the chest to further emphasize his point. He'd already assembled and laid out all of my office appliances on the table at some point in our conversation.
Brother Mao: Alright, everyone! Put everything down. Let me introduce to you our new buddy, (Y/n)!
All the people around me nodded in greeting as Brother Mao introduced them to me one-by-one.
Brother Mao: The one dressed in a Cheongsam is Li Man'man. She came here a minute earlier than you and braved through 3 interviews just to enter Warson.
Tumblr media
Li Man'man: Hi, nice to meet you.
Brother Mao: And that's Chen Che, our team's tailoring genius. He's been here for nearly 4 years and has just been promoted to a Senior Designer.
The guy named Chen Che raised his head from the multitude of fabric surrounding him. He adjusted his glasses and gave me a wary look.
Tumblr media
Chen Che: Hello.
It was at this moment in time that a guy sporting a quiff hairdo walked past us. His head was haughtily raised and his expression was one of utter disdain.
Tumblr media
Man With Quiff Hairstyle: Hmph.
MC: And he is…?
Brother Mao: Don't mind him. He's an annoyance. He just failed the promotion test and is being the green-eyed monster to everyone right now.
I only nodded, not knowing what to say.
Brother Mao: That one over there's Hao Shuai, the trendsetter of Team A and also the King of Werewolf games.
Tumblr media
Hao Shuai: Wanna play Werewolf? I'll host one next time, but not now...
Hao Shuai buried his face with a sullen expression as Brother Mao quietly pulled me aside to a corner.
Brother Mao: He's not been in too jolly of a mood these few days. He didn't manage to get promoted to Senior Designer, so he's been pretty depressed about it.
MC: Sounds like it's very hard to get promoted up a rank...
Brother Mao: Precisely! Although Warson has a rank promotion system in place, the way things are being assessed in them makes it scarily hard! People normally have to do it five or six times before they manage to get themselves promoted.
Brother Mao: And, you might even get demoted a rank if the work you turn in doesn't make the cut!
MC: That strict!?
Brother Mao: I'm a Junior Designer like you. I've already taken the assessment around…
Zheng Lin: 10 times.
Brother Mao: You remember all so well, Sister Zheng Lin.
He gallantly retrieved another chair for Zheng Lin to sit on, seemingly paying no heed to the embarrassing number of tries he'd gone through.
Brother Mao: Don't they say that failure's the mother of success? I just have to get a couple more of those and it'll net me a great success!
I laughed at his joke along with Zheng Lin.
Zheng Lin: Our assessment system is just stricter than others.
Zheng Lin: Even though everyone is free to design whatever they like with their creativity as the limit, becoming an actual Fashion Designer is some serious business.
Zheng Lin: Those capable of joining us here in Warson are all talented individuals. Hence, what's really being tested in those assessments are your passion and perseverance.
Zheng Lin: I've welcomed hundreds upon hundreds of rookies during my 10 years here in Team A, but most of them drop out after failing the assessment 3-4 times.
MC: Eh?
Zheng Lin: Firstly, everyone who first comes here holds high self-esteem, so they're a bit more sensitive to criticism. And it is only natural for people to find it unbearable, especially after having been criticized a lot.
Zheng Lin: Secondly, there's a limit to the type of jobs that can be given to Assistants and Junior Designers, so things often end up being boring and repetitive
Zheng Lin: It's hard to go on like that if you don't have the right sort of determination.
MC: ……
Zheng Lin was about to say more when the door slammed open with a "bang!". Several people stood at the entrance, worry written all over their anxious faces.
Colleague A: Can someone consolidate all of Sliver's Autumn-Winter fabrics into a document?
Colleague A: I still have to go down to the mall and conduct surveys and research so I won't be able to do that in time!
Colleague B: Some trouble cropped up regarding the visas of the foreign models who're slated for a shoot next week, so we need another 18 new ones!
Colleague B: What should I do, Sister Zheng Lin!?
Zheng Lin gave a helpless sigh.
Tumblr media
Zheng Lin: I'd originally wanted you to let you get used to things around here, but we have our hands full… Do you mind helping us?
MC: … Sure thing!
Zheng Lin: Then, could you first help us by going to the warehouse and picking up Silver's Autumn-Winter fabrics and consolidating them into a sample book after?
Zheng Lin: You can get Brother Mao to help you check it through once you're done.
I nodded and joined the fray.
Time went by. And finally, I finished my very first task after an hour. Brother Mao told me to take it up to the Team A representative who was in the meeting after checking through it.
❖☆———————————★❖
Tumblr media
It was clearly noon soon, yet the doors of the meeting rooms on both sides of the corridor were still tightly shut, I could occasionally hear the sound of loud discussions coming from within.
❖☆———————————★❖
Tumblr media
MC: Excuse me, I'm here to deliver the fabric samples.
Pushing the door open, I saw a Designer who was in the middle of loudly explaining his idea while Sariel held a pen, looking down at the document in his hand.
All the other Designers were either listening intently or hurriedly sketching out their new ideas, having been struck by a sudden wave of inspiration. It was almost as if the very air itself was crackling with ideas, going head to head with each other, gathering and merging into a brand new storm of ideas.
I’m going to be taking part in meetings with everyone in the future too… I couldn’t help but jump for joy at the exciting notion.
Placing the fabric catalogue book down, I couldn’t stop myself from taking one last glance at the meeting room before I left.
❖☆———————————★❖
Tumblr media
Brother Mao: Oh, right. Don't forget to retrieve the catalogue book once the meeting upstairs is done.
MC: Okay.
❖☆———————————★❖
Everyone left after the meeting ended. I picked up the scattered pieces of fabric, stacking them neatly into a pile. It was only then that I noticed a pen lying on the ground.
Tumblr media
The pitch-black pen was see-through, slender, and sturdy, with three gold-stamped petals at the very end.
MC: This is...
An image of Sariel wielding this pen with his head bowed in thought appeared in my mind.
MC: Is this pen his? It certainly suits that icy countenance of his...
❖☆———————————★❖
Tumblr media
I bent down to pick it up, but the moment my fingers brushed against it… I suddenly felt an inexplicable sharp jolt of pain piercing my head.
My heart clenched violently, almost as if a nightmare that had been buried deep within its depths was about to be awakened. The stifling feeling of sadness and despair washed over me together with the odd feeling of my heart having been impaled by something.
What’s going on?
I pressed against my chest, trying to get through this sudden bout of pain that came out of seemingly nowhere.
Sariel: What's going on here?
There seems to be a faint voice ringing through my ears. The pen was taken away from me the next moment. Gone with it were the odd sensations.
I blearily looked at Sariel who had suddenly popped up from nowhere, still slightly woozy in the head.
Sariel: What are you standing around in a stupor for? See a ghost?
Tumblr media
MC: I don't know what happened to me earlier…
Sariel: That's what I'd like to ask you.
Tumblr media
☆Light Choice: Explain what you felt earlier
I shook my head, trying to recall that odd sensation you felt earlier.
MC: I… My chest and head just suddenly started hurting.
MC: I know I’m in the meeting room right now, but it kind of felt as if I wasn’t here at the same time…
MC: Like a nightmare, you can never wake up from…
Sariel’s expression changed minuscule bit upon hearing the word “nightmare”.
Sariel: How about now?
MC: I'm fine now, and the uncomfortable feeling's also gone.
Sariel: Has this happened before?
MC: Once…?
Tumblr media
★Night Choice: Conceal what you felt earlier
MC: I just felt a little light-headed… I'm okay now.
MC: Oh, right. I picked up your pen.
I pointed towards the pen that he'd already reclaimed, which was now in his hand. Sariel only frowned.
Sariel: You felt light-headed after picking up this pen?
It was only when he mentioned it that I realized that that seemed to be the case. But what would a pen have anything to do with a bout of dizziness?
Sariel coldly grabs my hand, making my heart stop cold in my chest. However, all he did was stare at it in silence for a few seconds before releasing me just as quickly.
Tumblr media
MC: What are you looking at? Is there something wrong with my hand?
Sariel: Nothing. It's well and fine.
What's up with Sariel? Grabbing my hand out of nowhere like that and not even telling me the reason why...
So, I ended up giving my hand a thorough check as well. There was nothing off about it, but I couldn't help feeling a little worried.
I'd also experienced some "auditory hallucinations" back then at the rooftop…
MC: Maybe I should go get myself a check-up at the hospital just in case…
Sariel: You look pretty peppy on your feet to me. Doesn't seem like there's anything physically wrong about you.
His gaze smoothly slides up from my face to the top of my head as he spoke.
Tumblr media
Sariel: Though, I can't say the same about the other parts of you.
MC: ……!
I was fuming, yet I didn't dare to express it with a vehement glare. Seeing how riled up I was at it, yet unable to do anything about it, a flicker of a smirk made its way up to a corner of his mouth.
This was my second time seeing him smile today… The iron tree has bloomed…
Sariel: Are there flowers growing on my face?
I shook my head.
Sariel: A ghost then?
I shook my head again.
Sariel: Then why are you looking at me as if you've just seen a monster?
Tumblr media
MC: You just smiled. It's too rare of a sight.
Sariel: … How stupid.
He put on a straight face as he pocketed his pen and turned to head out.
Suddenly remembering something, I hurriedly pushed the door open and ran after him.
MC: Wait a minute, Director Qi! Are you free right now?

“Draco! Put that back my brother does not need another race car set you got him one last year! And don't even think about buying that dollhouse for my sister, you got her two for her birthday last month.” Y/n couldn't help but rub their temples like a tired mother as they watched Draco stock up on overpriced and flashing gifts for their family. Ever since they started being friends, Draco had always had a thing for buying them large and unnecessary gifts. A gold bracelet for their one month anniversary, a pair of diamond earrings for when they passed their owls, hell he even got them a pony for Christmas in their 2nd year way before they started going out!
Draco never seemed to mind it, saying his family had more money than they needed. Y/n never denounced that, they knew the Malfoy's were filthy rich, but they had always had trouble staying comfortable while being spoiled.
When they first started going out, they decided to tell Draco that they had come from a lower income household despite having wizard parents and since they never had much they weren't used to huge surprises or big amounts of money being spent on them. He had seemed to understand, cutting down on buying them things that they deemed overpriced, until Christmas hit.
Y/n's parents had invited Draco over for the break, just to get to know the rest of the family. And the minute the two had got off the train to make there way to the L/n's residence, Draco had set Y/n off before him in a act to surprise her family. They didn't think much, Draco always seemed to like dramatic entrances, but they never thought he would walk through the door with big presents for their whole family.
Of course their younger siblings loved it, flocking to him to get whatever he had gotten them. And their parents were flattered, thanking the boy for his gifts and welcoming him with open arms. “Oh god Malfoy, now I definitely have to marry you.” That night Draco had gifted them a night of cuddles, they only gift they had wanted.
Now it was basically a tradition, Malfoy buying their siblings and family huge gifts and giving them a night alone just to lay back and bask in each other. But for some reason, this year felt different. Y/n had yet to put their finger on why, they just knew something was off. Deciding to come out of their own head, they focused on Draco who was putting in multiple doll sets for her younger siblings. Oh this was going to be a long day.
Getting home the two were holding multiple bags, all of them either groceries or presents for the family. The others were out, visiting a family friend for the evening so Draco and Y/n had plenty of time to wrap gifts and get dinner started. Draco moved all the gifts to Y/n's bedroom while they started to tidy up the kitchen before prepping the food.
“Hey ferret boy! Come down and help me cut these onions!” After hearing him audibly grimace at the nickname, Y/n couldn't help but smirk. Teasing the bleach blonde boy was their favorite pastime, seeing him get all flustered and annoyed was absolutely adorable seeing as he was scrunch his face up in a way to imitate a ferret. “Beloved, I thought I asked you to stop calling me that.” Y/n almost there dropped the kitchen knife they were holding when they felt Draco's arms around their waist. “You little rodent, I almost stabbed one of us!” Y/n complained, attempting to detach Draco's arms from their body. For a seemingly skinny boy, Draco had a really strong grip.
“Ewwwww Draco is kissing Y/n!” Y/n's family came through the door, their little brother running up to Draco, attempting to pull him off of Y/n. He had always preferred playing with Draco ever since they first met. “Go away you little Doxy, get your own boyfriend.” Y/n said finally breaking out of Draco's iron grip and ruffled their younger brothers hair, much to his displeasure. “Y/n, don't be mean to your brother.” Y/n's mother came through the kitchen, giving Y/n a kiss on the cheek and Draco a small hug before going immediately to finish the small amount of work they did in the kitchen. “Don't worry YB/n, I would never kiss them, they have cooties.” Picking up YB/n, Draco and him continued to joke around, teasing you in the process. “You weren't saying that when you were kissing my a-” Getting cut off with the smack of a spoon on the head, Y/n turned towards their agitated mother. “Language Y/n! Not in front of the young ones!” mumbling off an apology, Y/n walked into the living quarters past a snickering Draco.
“Draco, do you wanna play with me?” Looking down, Y/n saw her dough eyed sister staring up at them and their boyfriend. Even though Y/n's brother played with Draco most of the time, he never turned down playing with Y/n's little sister. They were both pretty sure she had a crush on him, saying that he was the real life prince charming when he was out of earshot and always forcing him to carry her around like a princess. “Don't feed into the fantasy son, we spoil her enough.” Y/n's father always said.
Draco spent the rest of the afternoon playing with Y/n's siblings while they helped their parents in the kitchen. They ate dinner, the two younger kids messily playing with the toy cars they were gifted the year prior. Kissing everyone goodnight, Draco and Y/n made their way upstairs into Y/n's room.
“Sit beloved.” Y/n suddenly turned to look at Draco, his serious voice surprising them. They crawled in bed with him, looking at him fiddle with his fingers. Something he had never done. Y/n's mind immediately went to the worst. Was he cheating? Breaking up with them? They could help the feeling of dread form in the pit of their stomach.
“Beloved, do you think we should take our relationship to the next level?” Shocked and a bit confused Y/n replied, “What's the next level, like sex? Draco we do that like 3 times a week.” Draco's face contorted into his famous frustrated ferret face. “No no you plonker, I mean marriage! A family, adoption, maybe get a cat! I want a family with you Y/n, one way or another.”
“Oh… I mean of course I want to marry you, you're partially my husband anyway!” With that, Draco reached into his pants pocket, pulling out a small black box. “Wait, when did you?” Sliding closer on the bed, Y/n almost passed out seeing Draco open the box. Draco grabbed Y/n's left hand, sliding it on their ring finger. “I-Draco it's gorgeous!” It was simple, a silver wedding band with small diamonds scattered across it, but it was gorgeous.
“Well, I know it's not a real engagement ring, but I at least want you to have it if things go south.” Frowning, Y/n leaned into Draco. Shifting all of their weight so they could lay down on him. “Let's not think about that right now, and think about how much our family is going to freak in the morning, should I say it's a Christmas present for them?” Smiling at his now(kinda) fiance, he kissed their head lovingly. “Yeah, I guess so. I love you, Y/n” Smiled at him, Y/n snuggled into him. “I love you too ferret boy.”

2nd 'Date'
"Where are you going?" Zoey asked curiously, eyeing me up and down as I approached the living room.
"Uh, the library, why?" I said, fidgeting uncomfortably.
I definitely was not going to the library but she didn't need to know that.
"The library, huh, babe?" she said skeptically and stood up from the sofa, walking towards me. "Right, to the library... wearing your push-up bra and that sexy perfume of yours."
"Um, yeah?"
"You're definitely not sneaking off to meet a certain someone, hm?" she hummed.
"I have no idea what you're talking about," I played dumb, pretending to busy myself by checking my bag. "I'm just going to... read..."
My roommate started circling me, gazing at my outfit that was the farthest thing from anything anyone would wear to stare at words on some pages.
Why did I say the library? I groaned and cussed inwardly at myself.
"So you're not gonna meet this special someone who so happens to be the queen of social media and is ranked top three in Belvoire and is one of the hottest persons here and also has the hots for you and grew on you only after the first date and made out with you outside our suite, which, I heard everything, by the way, and made you day dream about her for the past few weeks and-"
"I did not daydream about her!" I said defensively then immediately, my eyes widened.
"Oh? So you do know who I'm talking about."
I stayed silent, contemplating my next words as she stared at me.
"I'm talking about one Veronica Lombardi."
"I know who you're talking about," I snapped.
Zoey giggled and gave me a pat on the cheek. "Aww, look at you, scoring a second date with Vivi."
"It's not a date! We're just hanging out."
"Ah, so you are going out with her!"
I bit my lip and sighed. "So what if I am?"
"Eek! I'm so happy for my bestie!"
She crushed me in a hug and which took me aback and left me gasping for air.
"Thanks... Zo...!" I struggled to get out.
"Okay, okay," she pulled back and smooth out my clothes, pushing me towards the door. "Go get your girl!"
"She's not my-"
"Yeah, yeah, we've been through this before, now go!"
I smiled, shaking my head at Zoey before stepping out.
"Oh, and Bea?"
"Yeah?" I turned to look at her.
"If you're gonna shove your tongue down her throat against the door, try not to be so loud this time, okay?"
I grabbed a pen from the side table by the door and chucked it at her. "Zo!"
She clutched her stomach laughing as the pen bounced off her shoulder harmlessly.
"Bye, babe! Have fun," she blew me a kiss as I finally walked out.

5th Date
"Oh! Veronica!"
"I love it when you moan my name," she groaned against my neck where she was left aggressive nips and kisses, no doubt leaving her mark on me. I felt her smirk against my skin. "You sound so hot."
We found ourselves in her car after our date at the park. And yeah, yeah, I admit, it was a date. What was meant to be a sweet, innocent kiss turned into a heated make out session with me on her lap and her hands on my ass, guiding me to move against her.
I ground myself harder into her, her words making me whimper and encouraging me even further. Her lips travelled further down to the exposed skin of my chest that was left uncovered by my buttoned shirt, leaving kisses.
"Mm, V! I need to feel your lips on mine."
My hands that were wrapped around her neck brought her face up to mine and I smashed my lips against hers in a fiery passion. She moaned against my lips and I felt a shot of heat rush through my body at the gorgeous sound, making me groan in return.
I felt a hand slip down to my thigh, giving it a squeeze while the other moved around my waist and pulled me closer into her. She bit my lower lip, making me shiver in her arms.
"Oh, you like that, huh, beautiful?" she teased with a smile.
The hand that was on my thigh quickly moved around to give me a sharp slap on the backside. I collapsed onto her, gasping as I felt myself getting soaked, still grinding against her.
"You liked that too, hm?" she said cockily. "Such a naughty girl."
"God, you're so annoying," I grumbled between breaths and straightened up. "You talk to much!"
I forced her head into my cleavage where she hummed and immediately began nipping at the skin that wasn't covered by my bra. "Thank fuck I found a way to shut you up."
I felt her chuckle against my chest as her hand on my thigh crept up under my skirt, massaging as she went. It approached dangerously close to where I wanted her the most and I was sure she could feel the heat radiating from between my legs. I squeezed them together, wanting to some sort of pressure against my center.
"Please, V," I whined. "I need you to touch me. I need to feel you."
She lifted her face from my breast. "Touch you? Where?" she responded playfully, smiling. Her hand grabbed onto my thigh. "Here?" Then moved up to cup my chest. "Or here?" And then further up to my next to clutch at my throat. "Or did you mean here?"
"Fuck you," I cussed at her but with a grin, grasping her hand and brought it down between my thighs, gasping when her hand made contact with my damp panties under my skirt. "Here."
She kissed along my jaw and made her way up to my ear where she bit my earlobe and whispered huskily into my ear, "You're so wet for me, beautiful."
I let out a loud moan when I felt her hand slip into my underwear, working her hand back and forth. "I've wanted this since we first hung out together."
"Not since you first saw me?" Veronica spoke teasingly into my ear. Her fingers moved faster and I threw my head back with my eyes closed, panting hard.
"No comment," I managed to get out even though my thoughts were clouded in desire and pleasure wrecked my body.
"Looks like you're gonna have to wait a little longer," she smirked and took her hand away. I whimpered from the lost of contact and glared daggers at her.
"What?!"
"What?" she asked back laughing, casually taking her fingers in her mouth.
"You're such a jerk!" I slapped her shoulders in disbelief. "Why can't you just finish me off?"
"Where's the fun in that?"
"God, you're insufferable!" I huffed and got off of her, plopping myself back onto the passenger's seat.
"Aww, you're adorable when you're mad," she cooed and pinched my cheek. "I promise to make it up to you."
I swatted her hand away but felt myself start smiling. "You better watch out, Lombardi. Next time is gonna be hell for you."
She looked at me in the eyes and the intensity in them did nothing to calm my libido.
"Why are you threatening me with a good time, darling?"
I rolled my eyes at her even though I could feel the heat creep up to my cheeks. "I'm gonna tease you till you're begging me to stop."
"And what if I do the same?" She moved in closer to me.
"Then I'd say," I whispered, our lips skimming each other's, not quite touching. "Game on."

8th DATE
"I still can't believe you brought me to an arcade! I haven't been to one since I was a kid."
"You and me both," Veronica laughed as she grabbed my hand, making my heart leap. "I haven't been here in years!"
We played a bunch of games, trying to outdo the other by seeing how many tickets we could get from the same machine. I clutched the heap we won so far in one arm as I giggled along with her, letting her lead me to the next arcade machine. "I definitely won that last one."
"No way! I swear you were cheating."
"How would I cheat at skeeball?" I laughed.
"Maybe you leaned in closer when I wasn't looking!"
"That wouldn't help at all. Plus, I saw you staring at me the entire time." I looked at her pointedly with a brow raised.
"You have no proof."
We laughed and I moved my arm to wrap around her bicep. "What do you think we can get with all these tickets?"
"Plenty of stuff, but we aren't done yet," she glanced back at me with that familiar mischievous glint in her eyes.
"V... What else do you have planned?" I asked cautiously.
"You'll see."
"Are you gonna get us into trouble?"
She gave me a lazy grin. "Maybe."
She brought me to a machine at the corner of the arcade. It was decorated with rockets and stars and anything else to do with space. There was barely anyone around since it was a weekday but this side of the place was completely deserted.
"No one comes to this part 'cuz it's supposedly the hardest games to win tickets," she laughed, shaking her head. "I honestly can't believe it's still here after all this time."
"What do you mean?"
"I'll explain later, right now, I'm gonna tell you what you have to do."
She lead me a few paces away from the machine. "Okay, so I'm gonna do a little tinkering and I'm gonna walk away. After a while, it's just gonna start spurting out a bunch of tickets, so you just gotta take 'em and leave."
"Wait, what-"
But she already started walking towards the machine. She shot me a wink over her shoulder and placed a finger over her lips.
She nonchalantly looked at the machine, inspecting it from different angles. She bent down and reached behind it then under, fumbling around until she finally stood up. She gave it a hard jerk and the machine gave out a loud whirr.
"Hey, you! Stop!"
We both whirled around to see a worker pointing at Veronica and rushing towards her.
She ran past me, smiling. "Well, that looks like my cue to leave!"
"Oi! Get back here!" the worker shouted and started racing after her around the arcade while she laughed joyfully.
I had to stifle my giggles behind a fist as I watched the scene unfold.
God, this was amusing.
Veronica sprinted out of the building and apparently the worker had enough of chasing her. He returned to the machine and gave it a brief check before walking away.
Soon enough, it started shooting out a long stream of tickets that seemed never-ending. I quickly started gathering them in my arms that were already full of the tickets we won.
'V!' I sent her a quick text. 'Get your ass back here!'
She sent me the laughing emoji and I rolled my eyes at the screen but I couldn't help but let out a small smile.
'Alright, alright, I'm gonna try and sneak back in.'
A few minutes later, Veronica was back by my side and helping me stuff all the tickets into a bag which I had no idea where it came from.
"Where did you even get this?"
"I came prepared," was all she said.
I just shook my head at her as the machine continued to spit out the tickets.
After what seemed like forever, it finally stopped and we walked away, giggling and pretending like nothing happened.
"Where did you learn how to do that?
"My brother and I used to do this when we were younger," she explain and reached to hold my free hand. My stomach filed with butterflies as she intertwined our fingers together and I smiled. "We used to come to this very arcade. He taught me how to rig the machine and soon enough, we started doing this every other week. It was our version of bonding time." Veronica smiled at the memory and looked at me.
"I didn't know I've been going out with a felon," I teased.
"Nah, think of it like a Robin Hood situation."
"You gave the tickets to other kids?"
"When we were feeling generous."
"And how often was that?"
"I'm not at liberty to say."
I laughed at her, giving her an amused look as we made our way to the redemption prize centre and looked at the wide range of selection for us to choose from.
"What would you like?" V turned to me and asked.
"Hmm, why don't you pick out something for me?"
She snaked an arm around my waist and bring me into her, making me lose my train of thought for a moment. "You sure about that?" She kissed my cheek.
"Mm, I'm regretting it now."
"Too late," she spoke. She spun me around and instructed me to close my eyes and ears.
"But why?"
"'Cuz I want to surprise you."
I groaned but complied. "This is dumb," I muttered.
"You're just no fun."
"What's that?" I shouted, pretending I didn't hear her. "Did you say something? Sorry, my ears are covered."
She laughed and stepped in front of me, holding the prize behind her back.
"What is it?"
She pulled it out and held it up to my face, grinning proudly at me.
"A board game?"
"For our next date," she explained.
My heart burst with joy at her words. While I was sure it was already a given that we'd have more dates in the future, it was so sweet to see her already thinking about our next one already.
"You're just begging to get your ass kicked again, huh? Today wasn't enough?"
She waved a hand at me. "Pft, as if. I let you win today. Next time, no mercy."
"Is that so?" I moved in closer to her.
"Mhm," she hummed. "Why don't we make things more interesting."
"I'm listening," I whispered and took her hips in my hands, bringing her closer into me.
"The winner has to punish the loser, however they see fit," she smirked.
"I like that idea. You better get ready to lose, Lombardi."
Her face moved closer to mine. "In your dreams, Hughes."
Right before our lips met, we heard a shout that made us jump back.
"You!" It was the worker from earlier.
"Time to get out of here," V tapped me on the shoulder and held onto my wrist.
We both ran out of the arcade, hand-in-hand, giggling as the man shouted after us. I looked at Veronica and saw a child-like gleam in her eyes which was absolutely adorable. It was obviously she used to get up to trouble when she was a kid. Thrill ran through my body as we ran along the sidewalk under the night sky and I could feel the adrenaline pumping in me.
Eventually, we stopped running and looked back. We stared at each other, breathing hard and then doubled over laughing.
I glanced over at her to find her smiling back at me with that heart-stopping smile of hers.
And in that moment I realised, I really liked Veronica Lombardi.

12th DATE!
"Come here."
I grabbed the collar of her shirt and tugged her into me then pushing her up against the wall.
"Yes ma'am," she teased and pressed our lips together. One of my hands tangled in her hair while the other fumbled around, searching for the door knob of my dorm.
"Zoey isn't in?" she asked against my lips.
"Don't know, don't care."
I pushed myself further into her and ran my hand up under her shirt and over her chest, making her groan.
"Why didn't we go to my room then?"
"Mine's closer," I whispered hurriedly as the door clicked open. "And I need you now."
I pushed Veronica past the door, never breaking off the kiss.
"Hey, ba- Oh!" Zoey stopped herself in surprise.
I walked Veronica back to the direction of my room, hands never leaving each other's bodies and lips never parting.
"I'm guessing you guys had a good date, then," Zoey added.
We crashed into the kitchen counter on the way to my room. Veronica's hand were all over me as she kissed her way down my neck.
"Mm!"
"Good to know, babe," Zoey replied.
I ignored her and finally pushed V towards my room, finally making our way past the door.
"Have fun you two," my roommate said jokingly as I shut the door behind us and shoved Veronica on the bed, straddling her.
We sure would.
~*~*~
"There she is!" Zoey cheered as I walked into our suite after class the next day.
"Uh, hey?"
"The sex was that good, huh?"
"Zo!"
"What?" she asked, laughing. "You're the one that barged in here groping and sucking the soul out of your girl as if I wasn't sitting on the couch or anything."
"I'm sorry!"
I was going to continue but she waved me off.
"I don't need to hear some lame excuse about how horny you were, I heard it all. Till an ungodly hour in the morning too like damn, you both really went at it, huh?"
"Zoey, please!" I groaned and hid my face behind my hands, heat making its way to my cheeks.
I walked towards the fridge and Zoey followed me.
"You're even walking a little funny," she giggled.
"Stoppppp!" I playfully shoved her even though I knew it was true 'cuz I still felt a little sore.
"Aw, no need to be shy! You definitely weren't last night," she smirked at me cheekily. "'Oh, V! Yes! Don't stop, please, god!'"
"That's it!" I walked off towards the direction of my bedroom. "Conversation is over."
"And then she went, 'Mmm! Bea, right there! Fuck!'" Zoey mimicked teasingly.
"Bye, Zo!" I said as I shut my room with her laughing her ass off.
~*~*~
Nth DATE!!!
I woke up to find myself wrapped up in a pair of strong arms. The familiar warmth and comfort of the embrace made me smile.
I felt the arms hug me tighter and a soft kiss was placed on my neck. I sighed in contentment and melted further into her clutch.
"G'morning, beautiful," I heard Veronica's sleepy voice whisper into my ear and my heart swelled.
"Morning, V," I yawned and turned in her arms to face her. She looked at me and smiled.
"What?" I giggled.
"Nothing, you just look really cute."
I felt my cheeks heat up. "God, V, it's too early in the morning for all your cheesiness."
"Cheesiness?" she laughed. "I'm not cheesy."
"You're like the cheesiet person I know."
"Well, even if I were, you're in my bed so it worked, didn't it?" She gave me a crooked grin.
My face was burning at this point. "You're unbelievable," I groaned but the smile on my face gave away my true emotion.
She smirked. "I know, you told me last night, remember?"
Flashbacks to the night before played in my mind and I felt my entire body get hot.
"Veronica!" I grabbed the pillow beside me and gave her a whack on the head with it as she laughed. I looked at the time on my phone and sighed. "I gotta go."
"Aw, c'mon," she said as I moved to sit up and stretched. I glanced back to find her eyes running up me down my bare back. "Can't I hold you a little longer?"
She crawled towards me and wrapped her arms around me from the back, resting her chin on my shoulder. I felt her whole body pressed up against back back as she held me tight.
"You know I wouldn't leave if I had the choice," I moved my head back to kiss her cheek.
"You going soft on me, Hughes?" she teased as I rolled my eyes.
"I could say the same about you, Lombardi."
Our lips met in a soft, sweet kiss but not longer after, I pulled back which made her groan.
"I know, I know," I said as I stood up. "But I have class soon."
Before I could take a step, Veronica pounced on me and wrapped me in a bone-crushing hug.
"Ahh! V!"
"You can't escape now!" she giggled and attacked me with kisses.
"V! Stop!" I laughed along with her.
"No!"
"Please!" I wheezed out. "I'll make it up to you later, I promise!"
"Promise?"
"Yes!"
"Fine," she said sadly as she reluctantly let go off me and as much as I was protesting, I was already regretting it and thinking twice about going to class.
"I'll see you later, okay?" I told her as I reached for my clothes, putting on my bra and underwear before reaching for my pants while she did the same.
"Mhm," she hummed.
"V? Where's my shirt?" I asked, looking around.
"I don't know...," she spoke in a low, mischievous tone that caused me to whip my head to look at her.
There she was, one hand on her hip and holding my shirt in the other. She looked at me with a cheeky glint in her eyes and a small smirk on her lips. "Wherever could it have gone?"
"V, give it back," I stepped in her direction and reached for it but she held it out of my reach.
"Give what back? I don't know what you're about." She jogged past me to the other side of her room and grinned at me.
"Oh, that's what we're doing, huh?" I quickly moved towards her but she evaded me and jumped onto the bed instead.
"You're gonna try harder than that," she laughed and jumped off the bed as I lunged after her.
I started chasing after her around the room, the both of us giggling like children playing a game of catch.
"Veronica! Come back here!"
"You wish, Hughes!"
Eventually, I managed to corner her against the wall.
"Got you now," I grinned at her, both hands pressed against the wall to trap her. "Give it back."
Veronica was holding my shirt up, still out of my reach. She gave me an entertained look and shook her head. "No."
I was about to retort when an idea popped into my mind.
"Fine," I said and moved away from her. She looked at me curiously as I walked to her closet and started rifling through her clothes.
"Are you gonna steal one of my shirts?" she asked in amusement.
"Yes, I am."
One particular sweater caught my attention. She always wore it whenever she invited me over to her room. I removed it from the hanger as Veronica crept up behind me to see what I had chosen.
"Seriously? My favourite sweater?"
"Yup!" I tossed it over my head and felt the comfy fabric envelope my body. It smelt just like her which made me smile. "I think it's only fair. Since you're not planning on giving back my shirt, I'm gonna take your sweater then."
"Y'know what, darling?" she asked and pulled me into her, hand still holding onto my shirt. "I think it's a pretty fair trade."
"You do, hm?" I said teasingly. "Why don't we seal the deal with a kiss?"
Her arms wrapped around my neck as I brought her closer to me by the waist. She gave me a brash smile. "Just say you want to kiss me."
"Shut up."
Our lips met in a slow, tender kiss and suddenly, I didn't care that I was running late for class.
~*~*~
Aftermath...
"Veronica!" I heard a shrill voice shout from outside my room a while after Bea left.
I sighed and shouted back, "What do you want, Poppy?"
"Let me in!"
I groaned and got off my bed to open the door for her, knowing she would just scream until I let her in anyway.
"Yes?" I questioned, clearly annoyed.
She brushed past me and entered my room. An angel walked out only for the devil to come in. She turned to face me and crossed her arms. "We need to talk."
"About?"
She rolled her eyes. "Farmsville, duh!"
"Bea, you mean."
"Aw how cute," she mocked with a jeer. "Protecting your little girlfriend."
"Cut the crap, Pops. What is it?"
"Break off whatever fling you have going on with Bea," she said her name with distaste on her lips, cutting right to the chase.
I scoffed. "Why would I do that?"
"When was the last time you vlogged? Or live-streamed?" Poppy asked, ignoring my question.
I paused for a while. "Almost a week ago."
"A week, V. A week," she tsked and pretended to busy herself with the makeup on my dresser. "You used to do it all the time. Speaking of, why haven't you been vlogging or live-streaming your stupid dates? Embarrassed the Veronicats would find out their precious Vivi Lombardi is dating some farmgirl?"
"Oh, but you know Bea isn't just some farmgirl, don't you, Pops?" I smirked, challenging her. "You know Bea is coming for your crown, and fast. You're threatened by her."
I saw her shoulders tense in anger, as if she was gonna blow her lid as she scoffed defensively, "I am not!" She cleared her throat and spoke calmly, "Anyway, you're avoiding my question, V. Afraid to tell the truth?"
"For privacy," I said deadpanned but that wasn't true. If I had it my way, I would've told the Veronicats all about Bea since our first date but I promised her I wouldn't vlog and although it's been months since then, I didn't want to go back on my word even though I was sure Bea would definitely be okay with it.
"You among all people should know there's no such thing as privacy for social media stars," Poppy mocked.
"What's your point?" I asked, getting frustrated.
"My point," she whipped her head around to look at me. "Is that she's a distraction. No wonder you've barely had the attention you used to from your followers. Poor them, too."
I squinted at her. "You don't care about my followers. You never did, you only cared that so many people would listen to me. And in return listened to you. I know why you became friends with me, if we can even call it that, so don't pretend for a second you give a fuck about me or them."
"Oh, so you aren't as mindless as you seem," she raised a brow at me.
"I'm not stupid, Poppy."
"Well, you definitely seem to play that role well."
My jaw clenched in annoyance but I was determined to not give her the satisfaction of knowing it.
"But this benefits you, too, V," she continued in a condescending tone. "If she's gone, you can focus on your," she waved her hand, looking for the right word. "Career."
"You must have gone insane if you think I'm buying your bullshit for even a second."
"Oh, but you will."
"What is that suppose to mean?" I raised a brow at her, tired of games.
"You'll cut things off with Farmsville because if you don't," she paused, giving me a malicious smile. "I'll expose Veronica Lombardi for the fraud she is."
And suddenly, my entire body went cold.
~*~*~
"Veronica!" I heard that familiar voice I've been longing to hear for the past week call out to me and my heart wrenched.
It had only been a week but I missed Bea like nothing I've ever felt before. On top of that, there was also the guilt and shame of ignoring her instead of talking to her like what I should have done.
I wanted to run away on instinct but I forced myself to stay put. I've never felt so unsure in my life which was such a strange feeling since I always knew what I wanted. But this time, what I wanted was a little bit more complicated.
I closed my eyes and exhaled slowly, bracing myself to face her.
"Hey, Bea," I said awkwardly as I turned to look at her which made me even shudder. God, this so wasn't like me.
She looked at me weirdly for a second before concern took over her face which only me feel worse.
"Is everything okay?" Her brows creased as she spoke, her tone laced with worry. "You haven't been replying any of my calls or texts."
"I... I'm so sorry," my voice cracked and I gulped.
"V, what happened?"
The guilt was eating away at me and I couldn't hold it in any longer especially with the way she was looking at me. I looked around and remembered we were still outside the lecture hall.
"Can we talk somewhere private?"
She took me to her room and sat me down on her bed.
"Okay, what is it, Veronica?"
I steeled myself and looked her in the eyes. Then, I spilled everything Poppy said to me. By the time I was done, I expected to scream at me. To shout and cuss at me, to tell me to go to hell and that she never wanted to see my face again. To accuse me of leading her on and using her.
But instead, she was quiet.
I searched her face, looking for a reaction, any reaction, and where I expected to find anger and rage, I found something much worse.
Hurt and disappointment.
"Bea..."
"Veronica, no," she said firmly. "Why didn't you tell me?"
"I'm sorry, I didn't know how to," I said lamely. 'Cuz honestly, how was I suppose to tell the girl you liked and have been seeing for months that you were torn between choosing her and your follower count? Even thinking about it made me cringe but that's what it was.
"God, V," she spoke sadly. "I don't even care that you're having trouble choosing between me and your followers. I know how hard you've worked for them just to throw it all away." She looked away. "I'm upset that you didn't even think to come to me to tell me about what was happening."
And I felt a million times worse than I already did.
"Bea..."
"I could've helped you. Don't you trust me?" her voice cracked. She stood up, not looking at me but I stood with her. "'Cuz I trusted you. And if Poppy pulled some shit like this on me I would've told you. I wouldn't even think twice about it."
I didn't respond. I didn't know how to. It wasn't that I didn't trust her, I just didn't know how to face her.
"Of course I trust you! I was just worried!"
"Worried about what?"
I bit my lip, wondering how I should phrase it. "That you wouldn't understand."
She scoffed and turned to face me. "Yeah, so much for trusting me, right? You didn't even give me a chance."
I knew she was right. "I'm sorry," was all I could say.
"That's all you have to say?" she asked, disappointed. She crossed her arms and shook her head, groaning. "God, I should've known better."
"What? What are you saying?" I asked warily.
"Of course you were too good to be true. I should've seen it. I knew there had to be a reason I didn't like you when I first saw you." She stepped towards me, tears streaming down her face. "And this was probably why. You run away as soon as things get bumpy and ignore it. So goodbye, Veronica."
Her words were like a knife slicing through me. Piercing and jabbing at my soul but I deserved it. She pointed towards her door, not even wanting to look at me and I felt my heart start to shatter.
"Bea, please, let me explain."
"Explain what? About how I was I fool to think I meant more to you? About how I would've told you everything but you didn't even tell me about this? Save it!" she spat. "I don't want to hear it."
"Please, let me make it up to you," I begged. "Please, Bea."
She sighed. "How?"
"This past week was hell for me. I felt like absolute crap. And I know how that must have felt for you too and I'm sorry. I know it must have been frustrating being left in the dark."
"I was just so worried for you," she admitted in a small voice that made me want to kick myself.
"And I can't apologise enough for it," I continued and stepped closer to her. "And I'm not just saying that, I really do mean it. It killed me, not talking to you for the past week and I know I'm the only one to blame for that. But I felt guilty and ashamed but mostly, I felt so lost. Ever since I started spending time with you, you were like a light guiding me even if you didn't realise it. I opened up more to you than I ever had with anyone and I was becoming more comfortable showing the real me to others. And if there's anything I learnt in the past week, I'm ready, Bea. I'm ready to show my followers who I am."
I cautiously raised my hand to cup her cheek, afraid she would slap my hand away or pull back but she didn't. My palm met her face in a soft caress and I felt butterflies in my stomach. I wiped away her tears with my thumb as I spoke. "And I also learnt that I really like you Bea. Much more than I expected to. And I would give it all up for you. Of course I'm proud of what I've worked for but what's the point if I lose my happiness because of it? And you, Bea Hughes, are my happiness."
She looked at me, her piercing brown eyes bore into mine and I tried pleading with them to her, to show her how honest my words were, how I meant it all.
After what seemed like eternity, she rolled her eyes and breath out, "And you say you aren't cheesy."
Relief washed over my entire body and I let out a huge sigh.
"I gotta do what I gotta do to get you back don't I?"
"God, don't you ever stop?"
I gave her a small smile, feeling incredibly thankful. "Not if I can help it."
She pulled me into her and hugged me, resting her head on my shoulder. I felt chills run through my body as I rubbed her back.
"And for the record," she whispered quietly. "I like you a lot too, V."
My heart leapt in my chest at her declaration and I was so happy, I could cry. "Thank you, beautiful."
"So what are you planning to do now."
I closed my eyes and rested my head against hers.
"Expose myself before that bitch does it first."
~*~*~
"Are you ready?" she asked me as we stepped onto the courtyard. She looked at me to be certain. "Are you sure you want to this?"
I smiled at het softly and took her hand to give it a reassuring squeeze before letting go. I couldn't express how grateful I was that she still by my side. "More than anything if it means I get to be with you."
We walked side-by-side to the middle of campus where a screaming Poppy was scolding a poor freshman for something stupid, no doubt.
"Hey, Glorified Barbie, over here!" I shouted at her.
She shot me a glare. "What the hell did you say to me?"
"Oh, so you do know I'm talking about you then," I laughed.
A crowd started to gather around us and my heart started racing but there was no backing down now. I had to do this. I looked at Chloe who was among the crowd. She held up my phone, live-streaming to my followers the shit storm that was about to happen.
Poppy turned red in the face and noticed Bea standing beside me. "For fuck sakes, V! Are you really gonna throw away all your years of pretending online just for that?" She pointed at Bea with a disgusted scowl on her face. "You must be dumber than I thought."
I was about to shoot back a snide remark in Bea's defense but I felt her hand lightly touch my arm. She knew what I was thinking and shook her head, reminding me not to get distracted from the actual reason we were here.
"If anything, Pops, you're the dumb one here." I stepped closer to her. "I have to admit, you got me there for a second. You really made me believe you had power over me. But you underestimate how loyal and understanding my followers are." I looked into the camera of my phone. "And if they aren't, then I don't think I want them."
"Veronica, you stupid cow! What the hell do you think you're doing?"
"Oh, am I making you mad Poppy? That you you have nothing to hold over me anymore?" I taunted her with a smirk, no doubt infuriating her more. "That you can't control my followers anymore either?"
"This is ridiculous!"
"You heard it here first, Veronicats!" I grinned into the camera, finally feeling free. " Veronica Lombardi isn't who you think she is." I turned to Bea and my face soften looking at how proud she was of me. "Consider this my first step of rebranding."
I held out my hand to Bea and she gladly accepted it with a smile on her face.
"And one more thing," I said and held eye contact with the fuming bitch across the lawn. "Fuck you, Poppy!" I flipped her off and the crowd surrounding us gasped as I tugged Bea into a passionate kiss. One of my arms wrapped around her neck while the other cupped her face, my thumb gently stroking her cheek while hers was pulling me into her by the waist.
Among the sea of people, I heard Zoey whooping and cheering for us. "Hell yeah, babe! Get it!" And just like that, everyone started clapping and cheering along.
I felt Bea start laughing against my lips and I smiled into the kiss. I pulled back to grin rakishly at Poppy who was about to blow her lid off. Her face was red and she stomped her feet in anger. "Veronica! Stop this nonsense right now!"
"Or what? You'll expose me? Oh, wait!"
Bea and I giggled as Poppy shouted, "You better watch your fucking back! Both you and Farmsville! This isn't over!"
"Oh but it is, Pops!" I called out after her. "You have nothing over me now, so go find someone else to blackmail and manipulate!"
She lets out a shriek as she stormed off, leaving us in laughing in each other's arms with a crowd of supporters behind us. I walked towards Chloe and thanked her before taking back my phone to address my online audience.
"Well, Veronicats, there you have it," I gave them a winning smile, trying my best not to look at the comment I was currently being bombarded with. "I know you have a lot of questions right now, so leave 'em and I'll answer them in a Q&A later." I signed off in a much calm and collected manner than the usual high-energy outros I would give them. It was a small step but for the first time in years, I felt like I could finally breathe again.
I made my way back to Bea's side where the crowd started to dissipate.
"Well, you did it!" she cheered with a huge grin as she encircled me in her arms. "I'm so proud of you!"
"Thank you, beautiful." I placed a kiss on her forehead and brought her closer into me to hug her tight, resting my cheek against hers.
"Are you scared?"
"Oh, I'm terrified," I laughed and she giggled along. "But having you by my side definitely helps."
I heard her scoff but her felt her cheek become warm against my own. "Cheesy Veronica is back at it again I see."
"But seriously," I whispered into her ear. "Thank you so much. For everything."
I felt her squeeze me. "Thank you for choosing me."
"You're worth it," I sighed. I thought about all the backlash I would get, from my manager, my followers, the haters, the general public, everyone. I think about all the followers and subscribers and support I'd lose and yet, nothing would be as bad as losing Bea.
So despite my worries and fears, my greatest comfort was in my arms and no matter what happened next, I knew I could face it with her.
"You'll always be worth it."
(More fics!)

Celestial Wind
Posted on Ao3
Luz had screamed herself awake that morning. The entire owl house had heard her rushing in thinking she was being attacked.
Truth was it was a memory of hers
Her big sister Lucy had been murdered infront of her, the future version of sister was killed by future Rouge she doesn't remember ever being so angry and sad at the same time.
She remembers looking at Nastu she's never seen him like that either so scared for lucy future if she didn't already know that he loved that would have solidified it.
Eda was also concerned for along with King and Hooty with how many times she was screaming or crying herself awake. They had made her stay in bed for breakfast it wasnt until after bed she was aloud to get out.
Which was perfect timing as she was supposed to meet with Hunter today
When she had arrived in their usual meet up spot Hunter was already there
With a quirked eyebrow Hunter turned towards Luz "What took you so long your never late?" Luz blushed embarrassed "Eda made me stay in bed until after lunch i-uh had a bad dream.. I woke up screaming" Hunters eyes shine in concern "want to talk about it" Luz pauses for a few moments seeming to think about it 'Could she trust Hunter about Fairytail? About her real life? Well he hadn't sold her out to BBelios he seems to really care about her'
Luz smiled softly with a hint of sadness in her eyes "yeah I'd like that Hunter"
Hunter eyes had widen not expecting her to say yes but happy at the trust shown to him, he really cared for Luz. He patted the spot next to him when Luz sat down in the grass and waited for her to talk.
"It was less of a nightmare well It was but it was a memory" Hunter nodded showing he was listening
Luz scrunched her eyebrows
"One thing you should know I guess is well how do I put this? ... I don't come from the human realm? No wait I do.. just a different universe of it.." She spoke softly
Luz had turned towards Hunter to watch his expression
His eyes had shot up in surprise at the confession "Wait really I didn't even know something like that was possible!"
Luz smiled a bit brighter at Hunter "yeah it was called EarthLand there was magic there too but it was different.. Guilds were formed to protect those who couldn't protect themselfs"
Hunters looked curious but urged to her to get to what her nightmare was about
Luz looked down eyes filled with pain
"I had watched the future version of my older sister get killed infront of me"
Hunter eyes widen at the thought of Luz seeing something so brutal he wrapped his arms around her to comfort her
Luz smiles gratefully "it didn't help that there was a huge battle going on during it... Mavis... I miss my guild" Luz looks down at her right hand taking off the fingerless glove she wore
Hunter eyes followed her movement
"You have a tattoo?" Luz eyes widen
"What no it's my guild mark it was applied with a magic stamp by Mirajane! Lucy would kill me!!" Hunter was surprised at such a reaction from Luz
"Oh so like was proved your from a coven? And I assume Lucy is you sister?"
Luz blushed "yeah that's right"
"Is magic different there?" Hunter questions curious
Luz looked up in surprise
"Huh yeah it is quite a bit when I think about it!.... one key difference is that if you use the last bit of your magic you'll Crack like your glass and turned into seeable magic... Oh! And we don't have a magic sack attached to the heart with have containers within us 'Luz suddenly pales' and when someone with time typ magic.. she can open a second container with out training 10 out of 10 do not recommend that fudging hurt" By the end of her sentence she was glaring at the ground if looks could kill that flower would be dead
"How bad does it hurt?" Hunter asked nervous Luz stared him dead in the eye
"I'd rather do over 100 missions in one day nothing could ever hurt more my pain tolerance went screw you gramps for choosing me to compete at GMG!!"
Luz blushed hard in embarrassment
"Ahh sorry I guess I should tell you... I do have magic as you could guess after all I work at a magic guild!" By the end of her sentence she was smiling brightly
Hunter again surprised and intrigued asked "if there a certain kind of magic you spealize in?" Luz eyes brighten she jumped up "Yes! Infact..!" Luz closed her eyes and stretched her hand out and a key appeared in her hand she twisted as if opening a door "Open gate of Madien Virgo" suddenly a doorbell sound was heard and in a golden flash there was a women with short pink hair in a maid outfit infront of them "Punishment time princess?" The pink haired girl asked bowing Luz face turned a bright red "VIRGO" Luz let out a miserable sigh "no Virgo how man times do I have to say I'm never going to hurt you?" Virgo pouted and turned towards hunter her head tilts to the sized at Hunters jaw dropped expression "Princess? Who is this.. Virgo gained a smug smile Is he your Lover? Aquarius and Hime would be proud!" She finishes off with cheerful smile
Both Luz and Hunters Faces were red as Erza hair "F-Force closher!" Luz stuttered out after Virgo dissappear along with her key in her and her sister shared space pocket as much as she was grateful for the Celestial King blessing the Heartfilia siblings to share Celestial contracts it could get a bit tiring sometimes ..
Luz turned towards Hunter both of there faces still red "I shouldn't have summoned Virgo first but she's better then Loki or Taurus ehh then again like half our spirits are pervs " Luz face breaks out into a smile "oh I can show you Plue! And I show you star dress an a form of Celestial magic only known by the Heartfilia's!" Hunters blush had died down "star dress?.. Wait what do you mean by half your spirits are pervs!?"
Luz who purposely ignores him summons plue "pun punn puun pun!" Hunter stares at the snowman like thing that's shaking "oh really plue fairytail rebanded!!" Luz nearly yells in surprised but happy the snowman like creature shakes it head "oh right" Luz says as she remembers she needed to show him stardress "w-wait a minute" Luz cheeks flame up "what gate key do I use?"
"Luz why does it look like a snowman?"
Luz sweat drops "it's a dog.. now back to where I was.. oh right" she pulled out another key out of thin air expect she didn't turn the keys and summons a spirit like the past 2 times. "Star dress leo!" A flash of gold surrounded Luz and when it died down Luz was in formal attire wearing a fancy Black and gold strapless dress that had a slit all the way to her hip she wore grayish black thights underneath it a black ruffled choker and small black high heels and hair in a tight bun with a pink rose along with a tattoo mark appeared on her chest
Hunter was blushing at how beautiful Luz looked "uhh what does it do exactly"
Luz smiled devilishly "watch!" She walked towards the tree "star dressing allows me to Fight beside my spirits better! It gives me the ability to use there magic" Luz got in a fighting stance with a deep breath she yelled out "Reglus Impact!" As her fist made contact with the tree Hunters eyes widen as the tree expoled "your spirits are only as powerful as your magic! So the stronger you get the stronger they get!" Luz smiled "Leo or Loki as I said his name before is the leader of the Zodiac Spirits there golden gate keys his a fist to fist fighter"
Hunter still in shock "your world's magic is so different then ours" Luz blinks
"You don't think this is the only magic right on my world?" Hunter jaw drops
"There's more?!"
Luz giggles "yeah Me and my sister mainly use Celestial magic with Minor use of Requip magic" Hunter eyes gleam with awe "can you tell me more
Luz happy to have some one to talk to about her family agrees
"Let's see There's Nastu he has Fire dragon slayers magic he can replenish his magic stores by eating fire! He super strong to! He's also inlove with Lucy my sister
There Erza she has the most advanced forms of requip magic! You should see her!! She can bring out so many swords in under a second
Oh and Gray he has Ice make magic anything he has touched he can create with ice! And works just as well as what he touched! But he has a seriously bad stripping habit! He asked me for my underwear once! Lucy beat the crap out of him that day 'she grins' the boys say she was scarier the Erza that day
Of There's wendy to! She a sky dragon slayer! Her Element is good in both fighting and Healing! Truth be told Healing Magic been dieing out!
Oh and there's the exceeds to! There talking flying cats Happy and Carla they drag around their dragon slayer parent because a side affect of dragon slayer magic is motion sickness! And of course my older sister Lucy anything I can do she can do to! All of us together make team Natsu! The strongest team in fairytail!" Luz says proudly hugging plue close to her chest "punn pun" plue exclaimed
Hunter was in awe at the magic they have Luz had looked down at plue in thought before a giddy smile overtook her "Your right Plue he does have the Potential for Ethernanos Magic! Or right that's what we call our worlds Magic"
Hunter eyes turned hopeful and ready to cry he voice breaks as he speaks "re-ally?" Luz nods "yeah but be prepared it's tuff to gain access to it and you don't exactly chose your main magic"
Hunter giddy at thought of not having to rely on his staff "please teach me!"
Luz smiles softly "I will but not today we'll make a schedule ill consult capricorn for the best way to train you"
Luz breaking out in a yawn looks at Hunter "we should head back see as scheduled? I'll have everything ready by then" Hunter excited nods "same time" he confirms that night he could barley sleep
Over the course of next few weeks he was trained hard and he required alot of meditation but by the 2nd month he showed signs wind magic he was happy because Luz had told him that wind magic users had the potential for healing spells but only if they were strong enough that could also perform enchanting magic
By the 5th month mark Luz had told his progress at 2 years worth even though he just trained for 5 months she gave him braclet from Celestial spirit realm
When he hit 7 months Luz told the he was going if he ever met Wendy she wound most likely share healing spells that aren't connected directly to her sky dragon magic that had made his month he was really happy at the thought of being able to heal others
At 8 months Luz said he should just focus on expanding his magic storage which meant take it easy but not to easy she had said she would start to train with him after a week and if he thought
capricorn trained him hard he doesn't know what to call Luz's training he wanted to ask but he didn't
At month 10 he finally asked her why capricorn trained her so hard she told him it was because of the Heartfilia family Duty to the Celestial Realm the Heartfilia bloodline was practically royalty to the Celestial Realm that being the reason they were Givin the title of princess, Hime, etc Heartfilia were the Gaurdains of the Celestial Realm and its not a stretch to call them the princesses of the realm if a Celestial Spirit was ever being mistreated by there summoner it was the Heartfilia's duty to take care of it. She had also made the comment of him making 5 years worth of progress no doubt that was due to capricorn being a drill Sargent
It was a full year before Luz sat him down to tell him what his power level was capable of here that technically he was stronger then his Uncle now that when he was just at month 2 his magic pressure could have defeated belios that team Nastu was quite famous for being destructive during missions people thought it was because of them not watching where there spells go but it was actually of there mp and that through Virgo her sister asked Wendy for some low level healing spells that he could learn she had also Givin him a bracelet that if he sent magic to jewel in it that it would notify her that he's in trouble
It was 5 months after that she sat him down again and gave the ins and outs of magic it was a week after that they had confessed there feelings for each other
At a year and half Luz told Hunter that if he wants he could become a fairytail member she told him stories of fairytail
She told him how one person tears were everyone's tears and how no one cares about members past just who they are now. That month she told him everything about the Heartfilia horizon about her father about being frozen in time for 7 years about the eclipse gate and what happened to the Celestial Realm right after about the Anima.. she told him everything she also told him about one magic.. and how it was only accessible through certain circumstances she told him one magic was basically the purest form of love the knowledge and power of one magic was to Heartfilia line
She also said her sister could use it because of Natsu and that Luz herself can use it Because of him basically she just gave him the biggest I love you ever and that made him feel so loved to know that
When it came time to finish the portal to back home to earthland she had told everyone of her real origin with hunter by her side
And with the help of the Celestial Spirit King who by the scares the crap out Hunter Luz how can you call that man Stache face? To his face! Created a portal in the use of jewelry Givin to everyone Luz and hunter cares for

Begin Again
Summary: When your best friends move away for college, you think life is officially over. However, you find yourself making new friends including the blonde surfer from the other side of the island.
one
—————————————————
two.
The last three weeks of summer went by way too fast and it was finally your last first day of high school. You were currently out on the front steps of your home with a sign that said Senior. It was a tradition your mom went all out for every single school year.
“Looking like a snack before 8 am should be illegal.” Sarah shouted from behind your mom which caused you to roll your eyes.
“Oh, perfect shot. Probably going to use that for the Christmas card.” Your dad clapped sarcastically at your attitude being caught on camera.
“Alright, now all the kids on the steps.” Your mom directed. You and Sarah sat down first. Wheezie sat next to you and Katie, Kelce’s sister, sat on the other side of Sarah. Knowing it was only four of you this year had your heart sinking a little. These steps typically held seven Kildare Prep students. Now it was down to four and next year there would only be two left.
“I’ve got to send this to the boys. I tried to get them to take pictures on their first day of classes, but I was told they were too grown for that.” Kelce’s mom said while huddling next to Rose.
You had been successful in keeping busy these past few weeks in order to keep your mind off your best friend's physical absence in your life. All of you still texted every day in the group chat, but the promised daily FaceTime calls were slowly fading.
While you were busy with cheerleading and hanging out with the pogues, the boys had joined a frat and started classes two weeks ago. On top of that, they started partying several nights during the week and getting blackout on the weekends.
They still had no idea you were hanging out with the pogues. When they asked what you were up to, you would always tell them just hanging out with friends. Surprisingly, they never asked who. Just assuming you would never willingly hang out with the pogues.
You weren’t technically lying to them, but you constantly felt guilty about it. Then Sarah would remind you that they were living their best life at college, so why couldn’t you?
“Okay my sweet little babes, it’s time to head to school.” Your mom finally stops the photo shoot and pulls you from your thoughts. Her and your dad kiss your cheek goodbye, both of them tearing up when you get in your Jeep. They were so dramatic and you freaking loved them for it.
“I’ll see you at school after I drop these two off. Wait for me?” Sarah asked while leaning in your window. You promised to wait for her before leaving the driveway.
Arriving at school early was new for you. Last year you, Sarah and Kelce typically rode together in the mornings when Rafe had football and Topper had lacrosse. Kelce and Sarah were never on time which resulted in you running to first period with minutes to spare.
The song changed in the car, a soft country melody flowing through the speakers. The only person who listens to country is Topper and you roll your eyes at the fact he snuck this onto your playlist. Thinking of him made you realize that they really won’t be walking the halls with you today. It made your throat tighten with emotion at how different this year is going to be. The anxiety that you’ve done such a good job of hiding these past few years comes bubbling up unexpectedly.
Before you can stop yourself, you dial his number hoping it will calm your nerves. It rings a fourth, fifth and sixth time before it goes to voicemail and you hang up before you even hear the greeting. A dark, little voice in the back of your head says that he’s in college now and wouldn’t want to be bothered before 8 am about you're pathetic feelings.
The phone ringing through the speaker startles you and you immediately answer it without looking at the caller id thinking it’s Topper.
“Morning sunshine” JJs sleepy voice rasps through the car speakers.
“Morning punkin” a smile graces your face at the sickly sweet nicknames. It’s become a little joke between the two of you, mostly making fun of John B and Sarah’s overly sappy relationship.
“What’s wrong?” He asks, his voice sounding more alert than just a few seconds ago.
“Nothing, why?” your teeth capture your bottom lip and bite down.
“Somethings up”
“Nothings up-”
“Nu uh, don’t do that. Don’t lie to me. What’s wrong?” He prods hoping you let him in.
“I’m just really nervous about the first day, that’s all.”
“You’re going to have a great day, y/n. And if you don’t there’s nothing ice cream can’t fix.” His words are simple, but it causes you to giggle and your anxiety to melt away.
“How’d you know something was wrong?” You question.
While hanging out with the pogues these last few weeks, you and the blonde surfer had gotten close. When the couples would break off from the group, the two of you would hang out alone.
“I could just sense it and your voice cracked a little when you answered.” You imagine him giving you a shrug as if it wasn’t that big of a deal. But it was.
“Thank you, J.”
“Anytime buttercup. Do you have cheer practice today?” Now he’s the one who sounds nervous.
“I don’t. Why?”
“I don’t have work today either. Do you wanna hang out?” He all but rushes out the last sentence.
“Yeah, i'd like that.” You work out the details and he promises to bring ice cream just in case.
“Hey, you gonna sit out here all day?” Sarah knocks on your window causing you to jump. She gives you a weird look, but doesn’t question it. You climb out of the car and grab your backpack.
“How do I look?” You ask your tall blonde best friend as you head inside, motioning to your makeup and hair.
“I can’t believe you would wear that.” Her eyes scan your body and she grimaces playfully.
“We are wearing the exact same thing.”
“Shit, do you think they will notice?” She looks around at the sea of bodies all wearing a similar version of our private school uniforms.
“You’re so stupid.”
“But you love it.” She sticks her tongue out and you playfully return the gesture, all anxiety from this morning completely gone as you enter first period.
——
When you get home from school, a beautiful floral arrangement of your favorite flowers are sitting on the kitchen counter. A card is folded neatly next to them.
We hope you had a great first day. Wish you were here with us already.
xoxo,
Rafe, Kelce & Topper
Your hand dances over the petals softly as you lean in to smell them. The flowers are beautiful and you snap a picture to send the boys.
Y/n: thank you for the beautiful flowers. kildare prep wasn’t the same without y’all today.
Not even a few seconds after you hit send, your phone is lighting up with a FaceTime call from Rafe.
“There’s my little senior.” His voice is teasing as he comes into view. He looks the same as the last time you physically saw him. Hair gelled back and blue eyes bright as the sky.
“Thank you for the flowers.” You know it was him who specifically ordered them from the cheesy xoxo. It was something he started using after he watched a couple of episodes of Gossip Girl with you.
“I’m glad you like them. How was your first day?” He questions and you give him a quick rundown, laughing when you tell him about Sarah falling asleep in 2nd period with drool coming out of her mouth.
“Did you miss me?” He asks playfully, but there's a twinge of something else there too.
“Of course I did, Rafe.” You tilt your head as you watch him lay back on his bed.
“I miss you so much.” He admits softly and it catches you off guard. Rafe isn’t one to share his feelings or be vulnerable in any way.
“I miss-” you begin to tell him how much you miss him, possibly even admit how your heart aches when you think of all of them, but you're cut off quickly by someone busting through his bedroom door.
“Cameron! Are you ready to get lit?” His new roommate Parker comes into view when Rafe sits up in bed.
“Dude, I’m on the phone.” Rafe gestures to the obvious FaceTime call.
“Oh shit, I’m sorry.” Parker leans down and waves at you. “Hey y/n! How was the first day of kindergarten?” He laughs obnoxiously at his own joke and you wrinkle your nose in return. Parker wasn’t the worst person they could be roommates with, but he was pretty annoying most of the time. He lived for the frat life and everything college stood for. If you weren’t in college, he only referred to you as a child.
“Knock it off.” Rafe gives him a look, but Parker just flips him off.
“It’s okay Rafe, I have to go anyway.” You glance at the clock knowing JJ would be there any minute.
“No, don’t go. I’ll go down the hall.” Rafe says in a panic clearly not ready for your call to be over.
“I really do have to go, maybe we can talk another night this week?”
“Why can’t we talk later tonight before bed?” He questions.
“Because apparently you are about to get lit.” You let an impassive mask slip over your face.
“Oh, right.” He says as if he forgot he already has plans. “I could cancel and we could have a FaceTime movie night?”
“Dude, you aren’t cancelling. The four of us have had this planned since Sunday.” Parker chimes in with a look of mock disgust at his roommate. Thankfully the doorbell rings providing you with the perfect excuse to get off the phone.
“Rafe, I have to go. Text me later.” You blow him a kiss and hang up before he can say anything else.
However, your dad beats you to the door and let’s JJ in while you're still in the kitchen.
“My man. I didn’t know you were coming over today.” You hear your dad's voice followed by JJ saying something you can’t quite hear. They share one of those bro hugs making your eyes roll.
JJ and the rest of the pogues have been over to your house a lot the past three weeks. While your parents loved each of your new friends, they were especially fond of the blue eyed boy that would come over by himself sometimes.
“I promised the princess some ice cream.” He winked at you when he walked into the kitchen.
“Why does that not surprise me?” Your dad smirked with a shake of his head. “Wanna stay for dinner? We’re having steaks.”
“Uh, if that’s okay?” JJs eyes look to you to make sure you are okay with this and you nod.
“Perfect, I’m going to get the grill ready.” Your dad walks out leaving the two of you standing alone in the kitchen. JJs eyes roam over your body and he lets out a low whistle.
“Wow, this uniform is something else.” His words cause you to blush.
“I know you're jealous that you don’t get to wear it every day.”
“Caught me.” He laughs and you join him. Your phone starts ringing and you check to see who it is.
Rafe
You let it ring out only for it to start ringing again with Kelce’s name.
“The powerpuff girls seem eager to talk today.” JJ comments as he takes in the flowers and your phone ringing off the hook.
“Hey, don’t call them that.” You squint your eyes at the nickname.
JJ scoffs “Like they don’t call me worse names when you tell them we’re hanging out. Do you correct them?” He questions as he steps closer to you. You bite your lip and watch as his eyes darken.
“You do correct them, right?” He asks again when you hesitate to answer.
“Well, they would have to know we hang out in order for me to do that.” You admit sheepishly.
“We’ve been hanging out for three weeks. How do they not know?” His eyebrows scrunch together in confusion. You can see his train of thought even though he hasn’t said it out loud.
Surely she’s told them about me.
“When I tell them I’m hanging out with friends they don’t ask who. They just assume it’s not the pogues and I don’t correct them.” You watch as he deflates a little at your words.
“That- Uh, I-” He stumbles over his words, hurt dancing across his eyes.
“I’m going to tell them. I was trying to avoid all the kook versus pogue bullshit they are going to spout off.” and you're not sure why you do it but you let your hand slip into his, offering a gentle squeeze hoping it comforts him.
His eyes look down to your hands, his signature smirk back on his face and all the tension in the air slowly disappears with it.
“If you wanted me to be your little secret all you had to do was ask.” His cockiness is back in full swing and you let go of his hand to shove him playfully.
“So, what type of ice cream did you bring?” You ask effectively changing the subject.
The both of you head up to your room to watch Ozark. He asked if you wanted to watch it the last time he was here. You’d never seen it before so it wasn’t a problem to put it on. A little more gore than what you were used to watching, but it was a pretty good show overall.
Next thing you know, you hear your mom hollering that dinner is ready. Your eyes flutter as they try to adjust to the setting sun shining through your window. A hand lightly caresses your arm and you snuggle a little deeper into the bed.
Your eyes pop open when you realize you're actually cuddled into someone and not the bed. The thought causes you to jerk straight up and look over at the boy laying in your bed. His blue eyes are staring back sleepily and a soft smile graces his face.
“I- I don’t know what happened. I’m sorry.” You rush out feeling that predictable blush rising on your cheeks. He reaches over and grabs your hand. His fingers linking with yours much like earlier.
“I didn’t mind it.” He admits honestly.
“Me either.” Your words are barely a whisper but he hears you. Sitting up, his eyes flick down to look at your lips then back up to you making his intentions clear. You nod, giving full permission for him to lean in. His breath hovers over your lips as he gets closer, causing your eyes to flutter shut.
“Y/n! JJ! Let’s go!” It’s your dad's voice that bellows from downstairs this time and both of you jump apart feeling like you’ve been caught doing something you weren’t supposed to.
He stares at you for a moment longer before getting up “Come on, I don’t want to upset your parents.”
You follow closely behind him heading downstairs, head still spinning over what almost just happened.
Never in a million years did you think you and JJ Maybank would be cuddled up napping together or about to share a kiss. It was a lot for you to grasp. So, you push all thoughts of what just happened out of your mind for later and try to play it cool in front of your parents.
Too bad your mom sees right through it.

how about human au!moceit where some people (other sides perhaps) only know one half of the couple and assume that his partner is similar to him. so theyre very surprised when they meet the other half of the couple and hes seemingly his polar opposite. bonus points if the people get to see glimpses of a side of the half they know that they never anticipated existed
Hey! Thank you for the request! Sorry it took me so long, it was my first time writing a human au and I hope it's okay^^
I've also put it on AO3
“I can't believe we still haven't met your lucky special someone! How long have you been dating again? Five months?” Roman said dramatically as he walked backwards in front of his bubbly friend.
Patton shrugged his shoulders, his happy expression unfading.
“Stop pestering him about it Roman. He must figuratively be fed up with the topic,” Logan sighed and pulled Roman a little to the side so he didn't walk into a street lamp.
Roman winked as a thank at Logan but then quickly shot back: “Don't talk over Pat! He's able to tell me to shut up about his boyfriend if he needs me to.”
“Have to agree there, Lo,” Patton chimed in cheerily. “And I really don't mind it. He's just such a darling. I love you guys being so curious about him.”
“For being so keen on us asking questions about him, you surely provide very little information about his person. Roman step to the left, there's a mailbox.”
“What? You know plenty about him!” Patton disagreed and turned to the left into the little cafe where they were headed.
“If knowing that he's the cutest, sweetest and most adorable being you ever met counts as plenty, then sure,” Roman said slightly frustrated. “If not, we know kinda nothing about him but that. I mean how does he even look like?”
“What does he do for work?” Logan said and pulled the chair out for Patton at their usual table before he sat down himself.
“Yes, and where does he live? What are his hobbies?”
“Okay, okay! I get it!” Patton appeased and watched his two far too protective and curious friends shut up for the moment.
Just then a waiter came to their table and the three ordered their dinner. It was a tradition for them to come here every Friday and eat together for the last four years. Since then Logan and Patton worked at the same school complex, Patton as homeroom teacher for 2nd graders and Logan as history teacher for 8th graders, and Roman had opened his dance school close to the premises. They had known each other for far longer but only since then they finally got their tight-knitted comradery back.
“I guess you really don’t know that much about him. But I just much rather had you guys meet him directly and ask him all of those questions himself. It doesn’t feel right to talk over him, you know?” Patton explained and gave Logan his puppy eyed look.
That, despite Logan always denying it, had its usual very effective effect and the stern-faced man became lenient.
“It is understandable that you wouldn’t want to talk over him but…” Logan started and shot a look over to Roman who promptly picked the statement up.
“You seem to be so serious about this guy, Patty. And we just want to be sure he’s just amazing enough for you. You really don’t deserve another heartbreak, you know?”
Patton’s smile deflated a bit. Yes, he has been through enough, hadn’t he? Maybe he could let himself have some fun with this, as a treat.
And with that slightly mischievous thought in mind Patton offered to both of his friends now again with smile: “I get that. I could bring him over, now that he’s back from his last job… Ro would you mind if I’d introduce him to you all at the little party you and your brother throw tomorrow?”
Roman was quick to agree and the three dropped the topic in exchange of gossiping about noisy parents they had to deal with the last week.
___
Virgil put the soda down next to the fridge how Remus had instructed. He had brought it along because the hairdresser had asked him too, as he had too little time to go to the store and make everything ready for the party they were had tonight. Well, party was not the right word for it.
It was a little celebration for Remus and Roman, who finally had been able to afford an okay flat and get away from their old neighbourhood. Both had invited their friends and it was a first for Virgil to actually meet his friend’s twin and in extension his friends.
“Anything else I can help you with, Rem?” Virgil asked and leaned against the doorsill as Remus filled some chips in a bowl.
“Nah! You’re good! I think I’ve got everything done for later. Now we can just chill and relax until my brother’s turning up,” Remus said and ushered Virgil into the living room.
Remus came after him in a bit and put the chips in the middle of the coffee table and flopped down on the couch next to Janus. The man with the bowler hat glanced up from his phone, elegantly slid it in his pocket and then addressed his friends.
“Apologize me not helping more,” he said and looked over to Virgil, who pushed Janus’s crutch a little to the right so he could sit down in the beanbag.
“No worries man. After such a long flight anybody’d be tired. And it’s not like I did much more than you,” Virgil responded and barely caught the soda bottle Remus threw over to him.
Remus snickered as Virgil have him a pissed look while Janus smirked. Then the he told Janus: “Also, it’s just nice having you around for this! It will be fun to annoy my goody-two-shoes brother with you!”
Janus grin got a little more mischievous and he wanted to answer when suddenly Virgil took over the word.
“So, who exactly is your brother bringing along? Like are it a lot of people?”
“Don’t fret worrywart. Its only two guys and the boyfriend of one of them. And he said that the one without boyfriend asked the same thing so I doubt we’re going to be loud and wild tonight.”
“What a pity. And I had hoped I’d be able to show you all my sick dance moves,” Janus deadpanned.
Both snickered at his comment and they chatted for a while as the afternoon progressed. They talked about how Virgil’s thrift store had been going the last month and what kind of people had come to Janus’s readings oversees. As usual a bit of bickering ensued and eventually the conversation reached its usual topic.
“So,” Remus said and wiggled his eyebrows, “how happy has your lover been having you back? Already had time for a quickie?”
Janus rolled his eyes and faltered a bit as he responded: “I’ve only come back yesterday and I was dead beat so – No quickie.”
“Oooh. What a disappointment for your Casanova,” Virgil teased and watched Janus fidgeting in his seat.
“He was quite understanding, thank you very much. And sex is by far not all we do together.”
“Really?” Virgil bounced back and shot an amused look to Remus, who was just as amused by their friend’s defensiveness. “It’s all you ever talk about when it comes to him. So, it’s not our fault for jumping to the assumption that that’s all you too are after.”
Janus mumbled something indistinctively and flicked his hand before he shot Virgil a dooming look, which left Virgil utterly unimpressed.
“He is very dear to me and – well of all partners I had in the bast he certainly is the most remarkable one,” Janus stated but didn’t get any further as the doorbell rang and the door got unlocked by a very loud and energetic Roman who just had gotten home from work.
Janus and Virgil quickly looked over to the tall tanned man. He was just as slim as his brother, dark curly hair and soft brown eyes. He also was smiling but it seemed to be much less demented but a bit more flashing. Also, there was now terrible moustache over his lips which also was a very distinguishing feature for Remus.
“Hello gentlemen! It’s a pleasure to meet you all!” Roman said with a slight bow, turned with an immediate decrease of charm and flair to Remus and asked: “Have you already offered them something to drink? And you didn’t ask them to help out right? They’re our guests!”
“Jeez. You’re acting like mum!” Remus pouted and the two brothers started to bicker for a moment before Roman excused himself and said he had to change clothes.
“He’s quite the character,” Virgil said with furrowed brows as Roman disappeared in the hallway and Remus let out a huff and then a weak laugh.
“Sure is, and it’s a pest. But rather have him around than not.”
All three silently nodded at that and then Remus got up. He asked them if they wanted coffee and went into the kitchen to make some. Meanwhile Roman came back into the living room and properly introduced himself to his two guests. They had met each other before but only in passing, when one of them dropped Remus off after a long night back in the days when he still was working as a barkeeper. In the not so easy days, but that was now over and they could focus on the present.
They got along fairly well, Roman seemed a little stuck up but knowing about Remus’s past both Janus and Virgil could put one and one together and knew that it was probably just a façade he put up until he knew he could trust them well enough. And they could respect that. After a moment Remus joined them again, a coffee for Janus, Virgil and Roman at the ready and a tea for himself. He was quick to poke fun at Roman and Janus had no problem playing into the teasing and getting a few mock-offended gasps from Roman.
“When are your guests coming?” Remus asked Roman and looked over to the clock they had hanging on the wall.
“Lo is always punctual on the minute. Well, maybe a minute earlier or so but he’ll be here at seven. Patty’s gonna be late. He can’t help it,” Roman answered and shrugged.
Remus nodded at the answer and asked if he would come and help him getting dinner ready. Roman agreed and the two let Janus and Virgil entertain themselves for the next few minutes. And one minute before seven the door rang and Remus instructed Virgil out from the kitchen to get the door. With a huff Virgil got up and opened the door.
A black-haired man in a navy polo shirt and dark jeans stood in front of the door and adjusted his glasses as he saw who had opened the door.
“You’re Roman’s friend?” it came from Virgil and the man nodded quickly.
He then added helpfully: “Yes, I’ve met him when he gave a dance course in our school-” He stretched his hand out – “Logan. I assume you are an acquaintance of his brother?”
“Got that right Logan. I’m Virgil. Come in. They’re in the kitchen,” Virgil said hoping to sound not too anxious.
Logan followed and looked at the two strangers in the room. Virgil was a small man with brightly died purple hair, wearing a worn-out sweater with purple patches and black skinny jeans and had apparently known Remus since college, as he soon learnt. The other man, Janus as he introduced himself, was a man of average height and blond hair, wearing a black turtleneck sweater and slacks. Logan recognized him soon as a rather-well known YA author and got into a conversation about literature. Virgil listened amused to their bantering and shot a lopsided grin at Remus when he came out of the kitchen to greet Logan properly.
“Jay, can you come for a second? Roman needs you to taste the sauce to make sure it’s not too spice for your fragile little togue,” Remus asked his friend who got up with a huff.
“I am not fragile!” Janus hissed and walked to the kitchen as Remus rolled his eyes at his dramatics.
“I didn’t say that,” Remus mumbled and then inquired what Logan wanted to drink and brought him some soda from the kitchen.
As Remus gave Logan his drink it rang and he went to get the door.
And as Remus opened the door he was met with the sight of a bubbly, brown-haired man. He smiled widely, had freckles all over his face and a pair of round glasses. He had to look up to him and bobbed on the spot, in his sky blue cat hoodie and light brown jeans with rainbow patches sewed on the knees, and for the first time in very long while Remus found himself thinking that this person just looked objectively adorable.
“Hello! Thank you so much for inviting me to your home!” this cute little man said cheerfully and Remus simply had to smile.
“My pleasure! You’re Patton then?”
For a second the man blinked and then sheepishly rubbed the back of his head.
“Yes, exactly!”
Remus laughed and bid him in. He then wanted to introduce him to Virgil, as Patton suddenly looked over to the hallway with glee in his eyes. Curious he followed the look and saw Janus just walking outside of the kitchen and staring at the newcomer with wide eyes.
“Janny!” Patton exclaimed joyfully, ran to him and gave him a soft hug.
Bedazzled Remus, Virgil and Logan stared at the pair and their bedazzlement only grew as they saw “Jannie’s” flustered face after they parted and heard him stutter: “I didn’t know you were coming too, honey.”
“What are you saying?” Patton laughed and fixed Janus’s collar. “I’ve told you last night before we went to bed that I also was invited to the twins party! You know I’m one of Roman’s best friends!”
“I certainly heard that,” Janus mumbled and Patton promptly put a kiss on Janus’s cheek.
Virgil and Remus stared at Janus. Suave and charming Janus all red and flustered by the words of the human embodiment of a Care Bear. Meanwhile Logan had a hard time realizing that he had just met his year-long friend’s boyfriend and talked with said boyfriend about the value of romance in YA books.
“You’re fucking this muffin of a person?” Remus exclaimed and Logan finally lost it and let his glass drop and spill soda all over the floor.
Roman came right running out of the kitchen as Patton doubled over with laughter and Janus’s face turned a new shade of red.
“And apparently this muffin is quite naughty,” Virgil added with a nervous giggle and got up to help Logan clean up the mess he made.
Meanwhile Janus found his words again and hissed towards Remus: “Would you not speak like this about my partner? He’s not a child.”
“Come on, Janny! It’s fine,” Patton said with a wheeze and nudged his boyfriend’s shoulder. “I love that you apparently only told them about our sex life. You’re such a goofy man.”
“And you never told us that you moved in together!” it came from the agitated Logan who almost let his glass drop again as he gesticulated widely.
“Move in together?! How- What on earth did I just miss?” Roman chimed in and looked between Janus and Patton now finally registering that the former held Patton’s hand tightly.
“Ahh, kiddos! Don’t worry, I would have told you had we done that. Janny just stayed with me, because I picked him up last night and my place is closer to the airport.”
Roman’s mind went blank for a few seconds before he eyed up Janus again and then looked over to Patton and deadpanned: “You’re telling me that this sassy man in black is the most adorable person you’ve ever known? That’s the man? Because if so, quite honestly, I feel offended.”
At that Remus and Virgil started to giggle and the evening continued to be quite entertaining for them all as Janus and Patton uncovered the truth about each other and meanwhile casually extended their circle of shared friends.

the one i’ve been missing
☆drama: weightlifting fairy kim bok joo
☆word count: 1.8k
☆genre: fluff and slight angst
☆a/n: happy holidays @missyriver!! (and sorry that this is so late). i hope you had a good year, and i hope you enjoy this short piece of holiday fluff (that is slightly angsty). this is lowkey inspired by the little mix song.
Tumblr media
Bok Chicken was bustling with festive energy, the sounds of laughter, bickering and music filling the air. Bok Joo couldn’t help but feel at home as she looked around the restaurant. She watched with a fond smile on her lips as her father and uncle bickered over the stove, arguing over who was better at cooking. She watched Seon Ok, Nan Hee and Tae Kwon huddled in the corner, chatting and laughing at Tae Kwon antics. Even Joon Hyung’s family was there, cooing over Jae Yi and Ah Young’s baby girl and admiring the trophies and photos of Bok Joo from her childhood. For the first time in months, she was back home with her family.
But there was one person missing, and try as she might to ignore it, Bok Joo couldn’t help but feel his absence. It had been at least 2 weeks since she had last seen him in person. Between their training and competition schedules, they barely got to see each other. When she was in Korea, he would be on the other side of the world competing in a competition, and vice versa. Sure, they spoke to each other on a daily basis, and even video called each other when they missed each other too much, but it wasn’t the same as actually being together. This had been the longest they’ve gone without seeing each other face to face and boy, did she miss him.
“Bok Joo-yah?”
Bok Joo shook herself out of her thoughts, looking up from her glass to see who had called her.
Nan Hee looked at her, with her usual happy virus smile on her face. “Are you ok? You’ve been quiet all night. It’s unlike you.”
Bok Joo pushed the brightest smile she could muster on her face, “Of course I am! Why wouldn’t I be ok?”
Nan Hee smiled softly, knowing that Bok Joo was putting on a brave face, so she grabbed Bok Joo’s hand, “Ok, come join us then. Tae Kwon thinks he can beat Seon Ok in a drinking competition.”
“Why does he bother?” Bok Joo laughed, “She beats him at every challenge he makes.”
Nan Hee laughed along with her, as they walked over to the couple. “I don’t know, maybe he just wants to win against her once.”
“She should just let him win.” Bok Joo said, shaking her head with a smile on her face as she watched the couple line up their shot and beer glasses.
“Seon Ok would never do that.” Nan Hee said, as she grabbed the soju and beer bottles from the fridge and placed it on the table.
Tae Kwon looked up from pouring soju into the shot glasses, as the two women came to their table. “By the way, when is Jung Joon Hyung coming? He’s going to miss watching me beat Seon Ok.”
“Yah!” Seon Ok and Nan Hee yelled in unison, both turning to look at Bok Joo.
“It’s ok, girls.” Bok Joo pushed a smile onto her face, and turned to Tae Kwon, “His flight is delayed, so he probably won’t be here until tomorrow.”
“Ah, sorry.” Tae Kwon rubbed his arm, after Seon Ok had hit him. “I’m sure he’ll be here as soon as he can be.”
“Yah, yah, yah, let’s just start this competition.” Seon Ok said, pushing her boyfriend towards the drinks.
“Ok! Let’s start.” Tae Kwon said, in his usual hyper tone. “Nan Hee, you count down.”
As Nan Hee counted down, Bok Joo couldn’t help but get caught up in the fun of watching the couple competing against each other. She cheered at the top of her lungs with Nan Hee as Seon Ok moved onto her 2nd drink, while Tae Kwon was still on his first drink. Her stomach hurt from laughing so hard when Seon Ok finished her last drink and started doing her victory dance around her boyfriend. Even though he had lost, Tae Kwon looked like he was having the time of his life, as he watched his girlfriend dance around him with a smug smile.
Once Seon Ok had settled down, she wrapped her arm around Tae Kwon’s shoulder, and said, “Face it, you can’t beat any of us three at drinking.”
“Ok, ok, I accept that. You three are the queens of drinking, and I will never get to your level.” Tae Kwon jokingly bows down to them.
The three girls looked at each other with smug smiles. “Swag,” they chorused, making their signature arm movement as they said it.
After a while of chatting with her friends, Bok Joo saw her dad wave her over. She excused herself and walked over to him. “Bok Joo-yah, can you go outside and get the present I left in the motorbike compartment?”
Bok Joo raised her eyebrows, “What present did you get?”
“It’s a surprise, please get it for me. I need to look after your uncle, otherwise he will burn everything.”
“I heard that. I’m a better cook than you, hyung.”
Bok Joo’s dad rolled his eyes, “According to who?”
“My girlfriend,” Dae Ho smiled, with a lovestruck expression on his face. Bok Joo shared a look with her dad, both cringing from her uncle’s expression.
“I’m going now.” Bok Joo grabbed a jacket from the hook, and made her way to the front door.
She stopped outside the door, pulling the jacket closer to her body. The snow crunched under her shoes, as she made her way to where the motorbike was parked. As she opened the compartment at the back of the bike, she felt arms around her waist, causing her to jump and elbow her attacker.
“Oof, yah, it’s just me.” Bok Joo whipped around to see Joon Hyung hunched over, clutching his stomach.
She stared at him in shock. “Yah, you said you won’t be here until tomorrow.”
Joon Hyung stood up slowly, as he recovered from the pain of being elbowed by his weightlifter wife,  a bright smile gracing his lips as he took in her appearance.
“I wanted to surprise you.” Joon Hyung wrapped his arms around her waist, pulling her close to his chest. He nuzzled into her neck, taking a deep breath as he said, “I missed you.”
Bok Joo smiled, deciding to let go of her annoyance and bask in the moment of being with her husband. “Me too. But you should know better than to scare me like that.”
Joon Hyung pulled away slightly, to look at Bok Joo with a sheepish expression. “Sorry. I must have lost my mind because of the jet lag and hunger.”
Bok Joo giggled, shaking her head. “That’s ok. Let’s go inside and get you some food.”
Bok Joo pulled away from him, and grabbed his gloved hand. As she pulled him towards the door, he couldn’t help himself from saying, “I love you.”
“You should be glad that I love you, otherwise I would have killed you for surprising me like that.”
The two of them dusted the snow off of their jackets, and hung them on the hook, before entering the restaurant. As soon as everyone noticed Joon Hyung trailing behind Bok Joo, they all yelled out in surprise, and rushed to greet and hug him. Bok Joo stood next to him as he hugged each of his family and she couldn’t help but feel like her family was finally complete. A warm feeling settled in her stomach as she watched him carry his niece for the first time, her tiny body completely enveloped his long arms. He would be such a good father, she thought to herself, as she saw the adoration in his eyes when he looked at the child in his arms. Next were their friends, and she laughed as Tae Kwon teasingly punched Joon Hyung for not telling him about his surprise. But her laughter stopped as soon as her friends decided to tease her about how “devastated” she was that Joon Hyung wasn’t going to be there for Christmas.
“Yah, what are you saying? I wasn’t devastated.” Bok Joo defended herself, “I was just a bit sad.”
“But you’re happy now, right, Chubs?” Joon Hyung asked, with a teasing smile on his face.
Bok Joo glared at him, playfully, “no, not at all.”
Before he could make another comment, Bok Joo’s dad interrupted, “Ok everyone sit down, the food is ready.”
Everyone took their seat, and looked in awe at the food the Kim brothers were bringing out, and as soon as everything was set, they all dug into the food. The sounds of laughter and chopsticks hitting against plates filled the restaurant, as everyone caught up with each other, and reminisced about past memories. By the time the plates were cleared, everyone was blissfully full and some were even bordering on drunk. Bok Joo rested her head on Joon Hyung’s shoulder as Nan Hee interrogated Seok Ok and Tae Kwon about their relationship, which they had kept a secret from the rest of the group until a few months ago.
“Did you know about their relationship, Joon Hyung?”
Bok Joo raised her head slightly to look at Joon Hyung, raising her eyebrow at him. He better not have known and kept it from her.
“I didn’t know, I swear.”
Bok Joo narrowed her eyes, as she looked for any sign that he was lying. When she was satisfied, she put her head back on his shoulder, and wrapped her arm around his. Joon Hyung held her hand, interlocking their fingers, as Nan Hee turned back to their traitorous friends. Though it wasn’t like Joon Hyung and Bok Joo could hold it against them, since they also kept their relationship a secret. But considering the crap their friends gave them when they found out about their relationship, Bok Joo felt like she should tease Seon Ok and Tae Kwon just as much as they teased her.
“I thought that we agreed that we won’t keep our relationships a secret from each other, especially after what you said when you found out about my relationship.” Bok Joo sighed dramatically, winking at Nan Hee discreetly, who wholeheartedly joined in on Bok Joo’s teasing.
Bok Joo laughed at Seon Ok’s exasperated expression, and she could feel Joon Hyung laugh along with her. He turned his head slightly, to whisper, “Should we make them buy us food like they did to us? Let’s drain Tae Kwon’s bank account.”
Bok Joo giggled and nodded, “They deserve it.”
Bok Joo looked up, and she felt her heart swell as she locked eyes with Joon Hyung. How he could still make her swoon like a high schooler, after they had been together for years, was a mystery to her. But, boy did she love that feeling: the feeling of home. Because that was what he was to her. Her home. And now that she was home, she didn’t want to leave.

Say You’ll Stay- Chapter 1
Tumblr media
Fury/ Band of Brothers Crossover Fic
Summary: Don "Wardaddy" Collier just wanted his crew to make it through the war. He carried no expectations for himself. But as each day passed, he worried he would be unable to keep his promise. When fate (or more accurately- Boyd Swan) places a woman in his path with a soft touch and softer heart...perhaps he has more of a motivation to see the end of the war after all.
Hey so I’m back with this series! I posted the first chapter awhile ago and then realized I did not have my plot and characters as “polished” as I wanted. So if you read the first chapter already, I would recommend rereading it.
The first chapter is shorter compared to the others so to make up for it, I will also be posting the next chapter! Two in one!
Our beloved Easy Company will come into play in a couple chapters. Patience, my friends. I have a plan...
Warnings: Swearing, some mentions of wounds/blood

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sweat dripped down the back of his neck. Dirt and grime covered his skin and clothing. The sound of the Sherman's tracks rolling over the muddy ground encompassed them. Patches of ice and snow still lined the feeble road. He stared ahead blindly, trusting Gordo to get them to the camp safely. The looks on those around him mirrored his own feelings. Everyone was exhausted. Everyone wanted real food. Everyone was tired of watching allies killed by fucking Tigers.
Everyone was sick of this shit.
They approached the camp. The cesspool that it looked like from far away became even more evident the closer they got. Half-demolished buildings with a dusting of snow were the only standing structures left of what used to be a quaint little town. Soldiers in grubby gear, rifle over their shoulders, ran around. From far away the sounds of artillery fire echoed. Don wondered who was dying now.
"Boyd." He looked over at his gunner. "When we get parked, you go find an aid station. Get that hand looked at."
"Yes, sir." The gunner held his injured hand against his chest, wrapped in a makeshift bandage.
After getting directions from a lieutenant, they found the tank squad on the other side of the town. Seeing the three other tanks gave the staff sergeant some hope.
"Boyd, medic. Gordo, fill 'er up. Grady, check that suspension. I don't like the way it sounds. Norman, find us some ammunition and where the hot chow is." Don barked out orders as everyone jumped off the tank. Replies of "yes, sir" made him nod, silently proud of his crew, before stalking towards where he assumed HQ was.
Soon enough he found the building, soldiers scurrying in and out, making the place look like an overturned ant hill. The glass on the store-front was still intact surprisingly, but the door was busted down leaving a gaping hole to walk through. Sliding past a private who looked barely eighteen coming out, he entered the HQ to see a table set out in the middle with maps laid out, paper weights and bullets strewn about.
 "Who you?"
The gravelly voice made him turn to his right, eyeing up the man sitting on a wingback chair. "Staff Sergeant Don Collier, commander of Fury, 66th Armored Regiment, 2nd Armored Division."
The man exhaled, smoke slipping between his thin lips, cigarette hanging precariously. "Ah, Wardaddy, eh? Right, come on." He stood up and waved Don over to the table. "Captain Evans. What's your status?"
Don eyed the man, he seemed far too relaxed for being in a war zone. Then again, his greying hair and beard and those sharp eyes made him briefly wonder if this Captain Evans had been in the Great War. Maybe this was easier compared to trenches? Either way, it was nice to see someone in charge for once that looked like they were actually old enough to shave. Fuck knew too many kids were running around with rifles now, having just gotten out of bootcamp. Don wanted nothing to do with them.
"We secured the town here," he pointed at the map, "left 86th Infantry to hold. Then my guys and two other tanks were sent here."
Captain Evans stared at the maps, mind clearly seeing how best to utilize them. "You and two tanks, eh?"
"Yeah. Ran into a tiger though. Now it's just my guys."
His bushy eyebrows shot up, even those around the table quieted down with the news. "Just you?" At Don's nod, the Captain tapped his fist on the table. "Damn those tigers. Alright, good to have you here, Don. We're waiting on some intel before sending you out. You and your guys get some chow and rest. Come back and see me in the morning."
"Yes, sir." Don nodded and walked out of the building, relieved they were not being sent out right away.
As he walked down the filthy, cobbled street, he could feel the shakes beginning in his hands. Quickly, he stepped onto a side street, hoping no one would notice him. Leaning back against the brick wall of the building, he shoved his hands in his jacket pockets before anyone could see them shaking. Memories of the fight from yesterday replayed in his mind without permission. The tiger easily destroyed the rest of his platoon. In a matter of minutes, him and his crew were alone. Ten men. They had lost ten men. Good men...well mostly good. There was that one asshole in Edward's squad no one would miss.
War took the best and worst; death it’s equally possessive lover.
Hands slightly fumbling, he pulled out a cigarette and lit it. The lighter took a few clicks before catching. With the inhale, the nicotine and smoke settled in his lungs beautifully. He closed his eyes, letting the cigarette help calm his nerves and try to erase the memories of his platoon. They were dead now. It did no good to dwell on it.
After several minutes his hands finally stilled. Running a hand through his hair, he pushed off the building and headed out to find his crew. He glanced around wondering the likelihood of finding a roof and real beds for his guys tonight. They deserved it. Especially after all this shit. His own back cried out for a reprieve from sleeping on the hard ground.
Yeah, he would figure out something. Even if he had to toss some goddamn young Privates out into the stained snow.
 *****
"Nurse Cooper! You can handle this!"
She pushed the flyaway strands of auburn hair out of her face as she walked past the injured, following the voice of Doctor Erickson. The cries, screams and whimpers of the injured and dying no longer affected her. Or at least that was what she told herself. At least this field hospital had separate areas based on severity and a roof over the top.
She had worked in far worse conditions before.
She nodded to the tall, blond doctor who barely gave her a passing glance as he shoved past her, away from injuries he deemed lesser than what he should be focusing his attention on.
A man sat on the edge of a cot, cradling his hand in his lap, which was wrapped up like a mummy. He was not screaming or swearing, so she took that as a good sign. His eyes were closed, lips moving silently like he was praying, a thick mustache twitching with every movement. He looked like he could only be a couple years older than her own twenty-three years.
"What's your name, soldier?" She stood in front of him, wiping her hands on the stained apron she wore over her equally stained dress. Once they had both been white; now, the apron and dress were a patchwork of stains from blood, dirt and other questionable fluids she chose not to think of.
He looked up, his brown eyes meeting her blue in surprise. "Boyd Swan, ma'am. Those in my crew call me Bible though. "
"Well, Boyd, mind if I take a look at your hand?" She perched on a stool as he offered up his hand. Quickly, she unwrapped it to see the damage with a gentle but methodical touch. A long laceration bled across the palm and past the wrist, thankfully not deep. Honestly, looking it over, it was kind of a miracle it was not worse.
"Well, you're lucky, Boyd. Any deeper and you might have lost use of your hand. You might have some nerve damage; I do not think immobility is a concern at this point. I think we can get away without stitches if you can promise me you'll keep your hand bandaged and try not to use it."
"It's not luck, He's looking out for me and my crew." He pointed a finger on his other hand skyward.
"Yes, He certainly was. Let me grab some new bandages." She grabbed some cleaning solution and bandages for the man. The sooner she finished with him, the less likely there would be concern for infection. If she guessed, it would appear the injury happened at the earliest maybe yesterday. More than enough time for it to become infected. Though her training had taught her to ask and determine when the injury occurred, lately she found herself hating that question. It always led into a story and hearing even more of the horrors these men faced. Her mind had enough memories of blood and guts to fuel nightmares for a hundred years. If she could refrain from hearing others’ memories, she found herself choosing too.
The other reason she wanted to finish with him soon was to open up the bed he currently sat on, in case a worse injury came in. Luckily there had not been a large-scale fight in a week so they only had trickles of men coming in instead of waves of dying men.
 "You a religious woman?"
She looked up from cleaning his hand to meet his earnest eyes. "I guess. I don't pray like I used to."
He hummed. "I can respect that. I suspect you've seen plenty of death."
Not wanting to remember all the faces of young men she had slaved over, only for them to die under her care, she changed the subject. "Why do they call you Bible?"
"I'm always reading the Bible... I reckon that's where it started. I stopped trying to convert those heathens in my tank. I pray for their souls though. Always will." His voice trailed off quietly, but the fondness in it was unmistakable.
 "You're a good man, Boyd."
He nervously chuckled, looking away for a moment with the sound of his foot tapping repeatedly on the ground. "No, I'm just doing the Lord's work. That's all."
"Well, I'm done." Smiling at him, she pushed back slightly. It was nice to have a patient not screaming at her or leering. There were too many of those men as of late. "Do you know your orders yet?"
"No, ma'am. We just rolled in an hour ago."
"Alright, if you're still here tomorrow I'd like to take a look at your hand again in the morning."
 "I can do that."
"Good. Go rest up now, find some food. You earned it." She stood up, holding the soiled cloths, ready to move on to the next patient or task.
"I will.” He rose along with her, clearly understanding the dismissal. "Oh ma'am, what's your name?"
For a moment she hesitated to share her name. Normally she preferred the men to call her Nurse Cooper. From past experience, if she told them her name, they seemed to think she was interested in them. Yet with this man, she found herself wanting to share her name. He was kind and respectful. There were no gut feelings scaring her away from him. "Anna. I'm Anna Cooper."
"Pleasure to meet you, Anna Cooper. You need anything, you let me know, right?"
She was unsure how he could help her. Depending on his orders she might never see him again, but she nodded to humor him. "Sure. It was lovely to meet you too, Boyd."
With a parting smile from both, she hurried to the back of the building where they kept the large tub for boiling cloths. She grimaced when she noticed how low the water was. That meant she would have to go to the river soon. A shiver shot through her at the anticipated cold awaiting her outside. Thankfully most of the snow had melted already but winter’s chill still clung possessively to the air. Plus, it did not help how easily cold sunk into her bones. Back home her family would tease her about that fact. Here, on the edge of the front lines, it only made her life more difficult.
Before Doctor Erickson found a reason to yell at her, she headed back out to assist in whatever way possible. Her conversing with Boyd was her first positive interaction in a few days besides with the few others nurses stationed at the field hospital. She hoped he was not sent away too soon.

Sunflower - Harry Styles AU Series (Volume 1)
Tumblr media
The year is 1977 and it’s officially summertime. Y/N is spending it with her family at the Malibu Breeze Hotel, where she meets, aspiring musician, Harry Styles. The two clash in the beginning, but soon realize they may just need each other in the end. Find out just how life changing one summer can be in Sunflower, a Harry Styles AU.
I hope you enjoy! I will say there are mentions of drug use, so if that bothers you, I’m sorry. It isn’t super heavy, but it is mentioned. I also went with a first pov instead of the typical 2nd pov, but I did keep Y/N. This is also loosely based on Dirty Dancing... aka there will be a few similarities, but not many.. I don’t think.
Be sure to let me know what you think and if I should continue! :)

Everyone always said Summer is the perfect time to find yourself, to live carefree and away from the everyday stresses life might bring. That all it takes is for one Summer to change your life. I never bought into any of that bullshit because how can one’s life change all that much in only a few short months.
But it can and it did.
It was the Summer of ‘77 for me, my family and I were headed to the beach for the summer holiday. My dad’s boss had invited him and our family to stay at his family’s hotel in Malibu. Apparently, it was only for those who were very high and mighty that were able to afford a stay at such a place. My father was hoping for big promotion on the next go around, and he believed accepting his boss’ invitation would just about snag it for him.
As soon as I could see the ocean, I rolled down the window of our station wagon to take in the salty air. I reached my arm out moving it along with the ocean breeze as ‘My Sweet Lord’ by George Harrison played on the radio, an old one, but a good one. My parents were in the front of the car, talking about what this vacation would entail and how my sister, Marianne, and I needed to be on our best behavior.
I knew they weren’t talking about me, exactly, but there would have been hell to pay had they only mentioned my sister. She was very much the troublemaker sibling, barely finishing school and had no desire to further her education. Whereas I finished at the top of my class and would be attending college in the fall. I was excited about the new chapter in my life, but it wasn’t exactly what I wanted to do.
If I had it my way, I would take a year off and give it a shot pursuing my dream of making music. I loved singing and people say I’m pretty good at it, but most of all, I love writing songs. I always have a little notebook with me and most of my time is spent writing in it. But I knew my father would never agree to me skipping out on college for an essentially unattainable goal. Especially, since going to college was still a little taboo for women.
When we arrived at the resort, my eyes widened at how large it was. Most of the time when we’ve stayed at the beach, it was a small motel across the street. It was such a pain having to carry all of our belongings across the road for a day at the beach, but we made due with what we had.
My family wasn’t exactly poor, but we weren’t exactly rich either. There were many times where we struggled choosing which bills to pay, but my parents always made sure we were taken care of. They tried their best to keep all financial situations hidden from my sister and I, but as we got older we could always read between the lines. Which is why I knew this promotion would be a great opportunity for my father and our family, especially with me heading into college in a few months.
My father pulled up to the main entrance, where a few men, around my age or a few years older, came over to the car. I peeked over the backseat where I was sitting and saw them talking to my father. He handed them the keys and nodded before heading inside. The short blonde haired one came to the trunk of the car and opened it.
“Welcome to The Malibu Breeze Hotel,” he nodded, forcing a smile. “We’ll be unloading your car and parking it for you, so if you would like to head on inside, they’ll get you to your room.”
He spoke in such a monotone voice it almost felt like a recording. I wonder how many times a day or even a week he had to say that.
“Thank you,” my mother said from the front. “Come on girls.”
I got out of the car, grabbing my own bag and walked around to the other side. Marrianne took her time getting out because she was more focused on the bell boys than her task at hand. I rolled my eyes swinging my brown, fringed bag over my shoulder before heading into the resort. I wasn’t sure what I expected the resort to look like when my father first told us about us spending our summer here, but the reality was nothing like what I would have expected.
The front desk was bigger than any desk I had ever seen. Two young women worked the desk, one helping my father check in, the other was on the phone. I stood with my mother and sister while we waited for my father. I looked around taking in the sights of the resort. The colors consisted mostly of black and white and were very elegant and shiny. I felt as if I were in more of a palace than a place at the beach.
It was the complete opposite of the motel’s we had stayed in previously. Those were brightly colored with beach themed decor and palm trees everywhere. From what I’ve seen so far, there weren’t many trees anywhere.
“Enjoy your stay, Mr. Y/last/n,” the dark brown haired woman said.
“Thank you,” my father nodded, taking two keys from her and walked over to us.
“We have two adjoining rooms,” he said. “Girls, I trust you two will make good decisions and will not be gatavantling in all hours of the night, yes?”
“Of course not, Daddy,” Marianne said, placing her hand over her heart.
I rolled my eyes discreetly before nodding my head, “Don’t worry, Daddy. We’ll be in by curfew,” I answered.
“Good,” he smiled, handing me the key. “Shall we head to our rooms?”
My mother followed my father and I turned to follow as well, when Marianne looked over at me, “You do know you only speak for yourself, right?”
“Always,” I mumbled.
Once we got up to our room, I quickly began unpacking my bags that were already waiting for us when we arrived. My sister, however, grabbed the rotary phone and jumped onto her bed. I unzipped my suitcase hearing her dialing the number of one of her annoying friends, I presumed. I put my clothes, folded nicely, into one of the chester drawers and hung up a few in the closet. I aligned my shoes near my bed and put my bathing suits in the top drawer of the dresser.
Next, I pulled out all of my albums I packed and placed the stack near the record player in the room. I wasn’t sure if this was standard for all rooms, but I had a feeling my father made sure we had one. I guess whoever my sister was trying to call didn’t answer because her voice brought me out of my thoughts as I searched through my records.
‘What?” I asked looking over at her.
“I said, since we’re sharing a room, there’s gonna be some rules,” she said flipping her long hair behind her shoulder. “Rule number one, if I’m in this room, you’re not playing your shitty music. That includes both your albums and you on your guitar. Rule number two, when I’m out past curfew or Daddy asks about what I’ve been up to, you’re not going to be a little tattle tale. You’re not eight anymore. Rule number three, don’t touch my shit and leave my side of the room alone. If the phone rings, don’t answer it and when we’re hanging out on the beach, I don’t know you.”
“Well, it’s nice to see you’re still the same despite the change of scenery,” I said. “Guess once you’re a bitch, it just sticks, right?”
“Fuck you,” she snapped. “Just because I’m not Daddy’s little girl and a miss goody fucking two shoes, doesn’t make me a bitch. Sorry, I rather live my life how I want and not how someone else wants me to.”
“Maybe some of us don’t want to live a life of fucking around and get high off our ass every night either,” I snappd back.
“You judge me all you want, Y/N, but until you live my life, you can’t really say a fucking thing,” she said before going into the bathroom and slamming the door shut.
**
Later that night, we headed down to the dining hall for dinner. Apparently, on the first night of the summer, the resort throws a big kickoff bash type thing where everyone enjoys a good meal along with some live music and fun games. I had changed into a simple yellow dress with flowers and a pair of orange wedges. When we arrived at the dining hall, a waiter brought us over to our table.
“This is your assigned table for your stay,” he said. “Here is the menu for this evening. I’ll give you a bit to look it over.”
“Thank you,” my father nodded.
“Is this place not lovely?” my mother swooned. “I am so looking forward to spending our day at the beach and pool area tomorrow.”
“As am I,” Marianne smiled.
She could maybe fool my parents, but I knew there was something more behind the smile. She was looking more forward to finding some friends, mostly boys, to hang out with during her time at the beach and pool.
“Y/N, what about you?” my mother asked, sipping her water.
“Yes, I can’t wait. I plan to take a walk in the morning, taking in the sunrise,” I told her.
Marianne brought her glass to her lips, mostly to disguise her eye roll.
About halfway through our meal, there was movement on the stage in the middle of the dining room. There were three men, and a girl from what I could see. They were all dressed in matching outfits, provided by the resort, most likely.
“Good evening’. The Malibu Breeze Hotel welcomes you and are happy to have you spend your summer here. We are the house band and we’re here to play a few songs while you enjoy the rest of your meal. We do have a dance floor, so feel free to join in whenever you like,” a young man with brown hair said into the microphone.
From where we were sitting, I couldn’t see much, but I quickly noticed he British accent from the man speaking. He looked to be only a few years older than I, but could also be about my age. He appeared to be the lead singer, seeing as how he was standing in the middle and the others were holding instruments.
They started off playing an older song, one from the 60’s that I couldn’t quite put my finger on until I noticed my father smiling and nodding his head. It was one of his favorites, but it was honestly an awful song. I looked around the room, quickly noticing that other guests were enjoying it. Although, the ones who were nodding along were all the parents while us younger guests were practically wincing.
But I could admit that whoever this singer was made the song sound a lot better than the original. Between the arrangement and his voice, I found myself singing along softly and nodding my head to the melody. With each song the band played, more people gravitated to the dance floor, including my sister.
She had found a group of guests that seemed to be just the type she was looking for and headed straight over to them. My parents eventually joined everyone else on the dance floor, while I stayed where I was, picking at the rest of my dinner.
When it was time to call it a night, Marianne rushed over to me and my parents, “Daddy, my new friends invited me to a little get together in their room, can I go?”
“Mari, are you sure? It’s quite late already,” he said. “And we don’t know these people.”
“Daaddy,” she whined. “Please, I’ll only go for an hour and it’s right here at the resort.”
“I would feel better about saying yes, if you didn’t go alone,” he said. “If Y/N agrees to go with you, then you can go, but only for an hour.”
“What?” Both Marianne and I said together.
“Y/N will you go with your sister?” He asked.
Before I can answer, Marianne gives me the death glare. I knew if I saw no, she would make the rest of this vacation hell for me, so I reluctantly agreed.
**
Marianne and her group of friends were well off into the distance as I followed behind to wherever the party was being held. It seemed that once again my sister stretched the truth a bit because while we were still technically on the Malibu Ocean Breeze’s property, we were not anywhere near where we were staying.
When we finally arrived, I noticed several bungalows built side by side and people hanging out in the middle of them. It seemed the party wasn’t designated to just one room or house for that matter, but everyone was scattered out and helping themselves to whatever crib they wanted. I had lost Marianne briefly, before catching her standing near the bonfire with a few of the people she had met back in the dining hall.
Since partying isn’t really my thing, I decided to find a quiet corner or spot to sit at until Marianne was ready to leave. Daddy said one hour, but I knew Marianne would make us late, even if I told her it was time to go. I saw an unoccupied stool and made my way over to sit down. I smoothed the back of my dress before sitting down looking around at the scene around me.
I’ve been to parties before, I wasn’t fully a prude, but I had never been to one this large. People were making out half clothed and falling down the stairs of the front porches. Smoke filled the air from both the fire and the joints being passed around. The smell of alcohol was prevalent and I knew it would be hard to hide the smell of our clothes once we returned back to our room.
I sighed into my hands with my elbows on my knees as I waited and waited. Just like with most other things in my life, I was looked over and completely unnoticeable, until the same blonde hair BellHop made his way over.
“Brown Station Wagon, right?” He asked.
“Excuse me?” I asked looking up at him.
“Sorry, your car, you were in the brown station wagon.. Uh… y/last/name, right?” He asked.
“Uh, yeah,” I nodded. “And you are?”
“Jasper,” he said sitting down on the stool next to mine. “You?”
“Y/N,” I answered.
“Smoke?” He asked, holding a joint out to me.
I shook my head. He shrugged, taking a hit as the tip lit up in the slight darkness of the night.
“So, what’s the lowdown? You don’t seem to be vibing here,” he said.
“Not that it’s your business, but my sister is here,” I told him.
“The brunette foxy mama?” he asked.
I rolled my eyes, “That would be her.”
“Uh,” he said.
“What?” I asked.
“Nothin’” he said.
I glanced down at my watch on my wrist. We should be heading back now, but Marianne is currently swaying her hips to the music as she inhales on her own joint. I shook my head knowing it was going to be a pain in the ass trying to get her back to our room without waking up our parents.
“She’s a wild child, huh?” Jasper asked.
“Except she’s not a child anymore,” I said. “She needs to realize that.”
“Well, to me it looks like she’s have a groovy time and enjoyin’ life. We only got one, so why not?” He asked.
“You can keep on movin’ you know,” I said. “Why don’t you go enjoy life with someone else.”
“Chill, I’m just makin’ an observation,” he said, holding his hands up in defense. “How about you loosen up a bit, the house band’ll be playin’ here in a bit.”
“Wait.. the band from the dining hall?” I asked.
“Yes, and no,” he said, taking another hit and throwing the joint on the ground to put out. “Same group, but they play what they wanna play and it’s better than that shit they gotta play up there.”
“Wha-” I started to say, but was quickly interrupted by the same voice I heard just a few hours ago.
I looked over in the direction where the voice was coming from. It was, in fact, the same people from before, but now they looked like completely different people. The lead singer traded his previous outfit for a pair of bell bottoms and a striped tight fitting shirt. He had a guitar with him this time and one of his arms was covered in tattoos.
“And that would be Harry Styles,” Jasper said. “He’s the lead singer and that’s his band. He’s a looker and a bit of a casanova.”
“Aren’t they all,” I said.
“Wanna get closer for a better look? Acoustics’ll sound better, too,” he said.
“Uh, sure,” I nodded.
The two of us got up from our stools and headed into the crowd. Everyone had gathered in the middle and joined in the dancing and shouting the lyrics. I hadn’t recognized them, so I figured they must be originals. I searched the crowd looking for Marianne, she was currently sitting on some random dude’s lap with her arm around his shoulder. I glanced at my watch again, we were officially late now. I made a mental note we would only stay for ten more minutes before I would try my best to get Marianne to leave. Not sure what happened next, but Jasper and I had moved closer to the mock stage. I glanced up at the lead singer, Harry, was it, and quickly saw why Jasper had said what he did.
He was without a doubt good looking and I’m sure girls throw themselves at him all the time. In fact, I’m sure if Marianne hadn’t already found her one, she would be one of them. I felt my cheeks turning red when I saw Harry staring down at me. He gave me a bit of a smirk as he sang, strumming his guitar before moving across the stage.
Next thing, I knew a whole other hour had passed by the time Harry and his band had finished their set.
“Wanna meet ‘em?” Jasper asked.
“Who?” I asked stupidly.
“Harry, who else?” He laughed. “We stay in the same bungalow, so were pretty good mates.”
“I-uh.. sure?” I stated, not entirely sure if this was a good idea or not.
“Cool,” he said. “Come on.”
I glanced back looking for Marianne, who was still hanging out with her friends, before following Jasper. We approached Harry and his band, who were getting high fives and praises from others in the crowd. My palms were sweating and I felt sick to my stomach as I waited for Jasper to make the introduction.
I’m smarter than this, I should just walk away, find my sister and head back to our room. But instead I stand there, not moving, not even when Jasper walks back over.
“Harry, this is Y/N,” Jasper said. “She’s staying at the Malibu Breeze. Y/N, this is Harry.”
Harry looked me up and down with a smirk on his face, “Nice to meet ya,” he said holding out his hand.
“Uh, yeah,” I said awkwardly, grabbing his hand. “You uh… your band sounds real funky.”
I… what did I just say.
“Uh, thanks,” he laughed. “I don’t wanna be rude, but this doesn’t really seem to be your scene, love.”
“It’s not, she’s here with her sister,” Jasper said.
“Ah, well, maybe it’s best if you head on out now, wouldn’t want your Mummy and Daddy to worry,” Harry said before heading over to grab a beer from the cooler, ending the conversation and the night.

11th April 2021-Barn owl, snow, snipe and more along the Titchfield canal path
We came back to the Titchfield Canal path today where we came on Easter Monday with the barn owls we needed to see this year reported again. We arrived at the canal path Titchfield end and walked the short distance along to the split tree where the owls can often be seen and we had seen them before. Above the white droppings stain on the tree trunk that had momentarily excited us in our fruitless quest for this bird on Monday, we were thrilled to spot one of the barn owls in the hole! We then spent a glorious few minutes watching this stunning and such a beautiful bird. I took the record shot the first picture in this photoset of this bird. I felt so honoured again to see this species, and so lucky I was so in aw of the bird. A brilliant view of on of our greatest species, with either January or February sightings of them the past few years here I had waited a little bit longer to see this species this year. What’s more this is the first time ever I have seen barn owl as a favourite bird of mine as I made it the 31st member of my list of favourite birds in March.
This was bird 131 of my year I continue to be thrilled with my resurgence and how I have started the month with getting year ticks and the calibre of what some of the birds have been and barn owl fitted in so well with that. It means I have seen three owl species in a year this year for the third year running. What’s more 2021 now has the prestige for me of being the first year I have seen both barn owl and tawny owl in which I am so thrilled with to see these iconic species of one of my favourite families of birds, both among my favourite birds. Little owl is the other owl we saw on 2nd January this year and we have never seen four species in a year. So you can be sure, possibly depending on how the pandemic goes from now and any required reapplying of restrictions down the line, that we’ll be trying very hard to see another of my favourite birds and the only other owl species we’ve seen short-eared owl as the year goes on. After our last tawny before this year’s March sighting three weeks ago yesterday in 2015, we saw the other three in one year in 2016 then 2017 and 2018 we saw two species the barn the only constant with the other swapped from short-eared to little between the years so I wondered if there was to be some sort of rota in a weird way obviously until 2019 and 2020 when I saw all three of the others to tawny so I wonder if we can see all four or if there is a new rota as some kind of weird imagined rule. All four of the birds I always think we are very lucky to see whenever we do they are all super birds so you cannot take them for granted and I know this is a big challenge what we are trying to achieve still but its great to have challenges.
I took the second and third pictures in this photoset of a view and blossom and greenery in a smashing bit of sunshine as we walked down the path. Afterwards we got the fairly unusual for so far up the canal path away from Titchfield Haven national nature reserve at the other end and delightful sight of two shelducks flying and settling in a neighbouring field which looked great. As the walk continued we enjoyed spotting the snipe in the fourth picture in this photoset in a field. It was fascinating to watch its head down with its beak persistently drilling into the grass with great force. A wonderful piece of behaviour to see for a bird you don’t always get too close to or necessarily see for so long as they are - like one of a few brilliant and varied people we got to have fantastic conversations at a safe social distance today on wildlife, weather and other current topics an aspect of the walk I really enjoyed said - secretive.
I took the fifth and sixth pictures in this photoset of great wooded views along the canal as we walked on I have loved taking in beautiful woodland views a lot this weekend. I also enjoyed seeing the varied daffodils nestled in the woods the other side of the canal which I took the seventh picture in this photoset of. A beautiful scene and one of a few beautiful flowers it was great to take in today it really was a good walk for flowers. I took the eighth picture in this photoset of some coltsfoot which I loved seeing, very kindly identified during #Wildflowerhour’s #WildflowerID for me on Twitter tonight after I couldn’t quite seem to make it match on the PlantNet app as I continue to learn flowers. The coltsfoot glowed, shone and looked very beautiful in a touch of sunshine they are such beautiful and quite glossy flowers, similar in appearance to the familiar dandelion. I had seen some two weeks ago Tuesday at the fairly similar habitat wise river Itchen where I found them so beautiful and striking too so it was great to see them again. I saw and photographed as I tweeted nice nettles here today too.
We walked on and the threatening dark clouds passed over us, not bringing (in the most part anyway) the not so expected rain but the even less expected (by me anyway) snow shower which really did immerse us. I saw a little bit of light snow at Lakeside last Tuesday but nothing like this for how heavy it was, its the first serious snow I’ve ever known in April my Mum does always say it can snow in April thinking back to her childhood more and its been proved that it still can happen this year. It really was such a breathtaking and memorable scene I just knew whilst I was getting my camera safely back into the dry of my backpack I just had to capture this too so I did get it back out for a few photos as the shower really engulfed us this included the ninth picture I took today in this photoset. A stunning and memorable moment.
After the shower we were thrilled to see another snipe in soggy grass behind the fence which I took the tenth and final picture in this photoset of. Seeing two seperate snipes in a day that were clear and long enough views for a photo was smashing stuff and quite something I loved seeing them. I had only taken a handful of pictures of snipe before not so many at all. This was a great moment too and behind the snipe were two gigantic by comparison Canada geese with some of the other side of the canal from here too which was quite interesting to see with them flying around too and it was these birds and the snipe we showed them they had seen the geese which prompted the conversation with two of the wonderful people we talked to today. I took a picture of a snipe at Titchfield Haven nearby in 2016, its where I have taken and possibly over my life seen most snipes, and around that time I created a new playlist for music I listen to. The time I listen to music most is on car journeys so I have a few playlists named after the places we are going or animals/species, I have New Forest and as we go there so much an Alternative New Forest playlist for example. So inspired by the recent experience then I named that one my snipe playlist which is one of the ones I use when we travel east from home as this is where Titchfield Haven is and I was listening to it today on the way there and back so it was fitting I had a smashing day for snipes.
As the sun re-emerged we left feeling very satisfied by another brilliant and quite packed day of birdwatching, wildlife and photos on a really good walk. We did get a brilliant moment seeing swallows so clearly right over our heads getting cracking views of these wonderful spring migrants. By the Posbrook flood area earlier on as we did on Monday we saw lots of swallows and a sand martin flying over which was great. I saw and photographed great birds, flowers and sky scenes at home today too as I tweeted on Dans_Pictures tonight it was great seeing a house sparrow on a hanging basket in the garden I’d not seen any perch on one of these before. Today brought to an end another brilliant and relaxing weekend, I hope you all had a good one.
