Alistair for the character ask game

How I feel about this character

He used to be my favorite. I replayed Origins so many times in my youth just so I could romance him. Actually I’m in the mood to replay origins rn, but I’d have to move my ps3 around...

I don’t love him as much as I used to, but I still have a healthy appreciation!

All the people I ship romantically with this character

Warden. I have a Cousland but I like him with any Warden. 

My non-romantic OTP for this character

Him and Wynne. I appreciate their bond in the game. 

My unpopular opinion about this character

I always harden him and make him the king. it makes the most story sense to me and I think he does a lot for the common folk.  

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon.

this is more of a meta complaint, but I think lore books should expand the universe, but not contain crucial information about certain characters that impacts the plot and the way we view things. I didn’t read any of the books, I had no idea that Alistair’s mother was really Fiona until I came on tumblr. Bioware, I am begging you, even though I know you won’t listen, but put important things like this actually in your games and not a book that not many people are going to know about/read compared to your games.

It's like we're opposites! I have been into Fallout for years, and I got into Dragon Age earlier this year. I, however, have no shame and just started reblogging DA stuff to my Fallout sideblog.

Heeeey! Look at that ;D I’m finding that there are some definite parallels between the two.  A lot of parallels, actually! I definitely wish I just hadn’t had any shame.  Like, in hindsight, I think people wouldn’t have been bothered, but I decided to be sensitive about it haha.

Let's say Lydia can't date Cullen (really, the only explanation I have is that he simply does not exist lol). Who would she see as a romantic interest instead?

I had to REALLY think about this :D

first of all I’m not super into multi-shipping, like I can’t imagine any incarnation of Lydia not ending up with Cullen? that being said, if Cullen was replaced by Aveline or someone else in Inquisition...

I think she’d have a thing with Blackwall, but it would only go so far as the first kiss, and she’d break it off because though she likes him, she can’t give him that 100 percent all of her. Which would make the reveal all the more awkward, lol. That was actually going to happen in my longfic in waking dreams originally, I just cut it out because there was already a ton, lol. 

That being said, I think her and Fenris would be an interesting couple that I can see. In my canon, Hawke actually “dies” in the fade, and I can see a scenario where he comes to the Inquisition after Hawke “dies’ and they eventually grow into a romance. 

TBH though I think she’d get to the Frostback Basin and meet Bram Kenric and he’d be it :) especially without the hat

For the memorable scenes thing: The first that came to mind was in Rebuilding when Theo relapses and Andy breaks the vase, and he assumes Theo is going to kick him out. That still makes my heart hurt in a good way. Also in Pygmalion, I particularly remember the scene with the consent mixup, since no one does that in fic, and Luna declaring that she "can't stand fakes" when she and Ginny get to Castle Library. That is the bluntest Luna got in that fic and still nobody picked up on it.

Well, to be fair, Tom probably picked up on Luna’s warning, he just liked giving Ginny enough rope to hang herself because he’s a sadistic asshole.

And that consent scene... it’s brutal.  But it was realistic (which is always important in a fic about evil wizards taking over the world).

And Rebuilding... well, that was about yanking hearts and making people cry.  Though in many ways, Andy and Theo had it especially rough
