If I were to give any advice to a former twitter user (aka new tumblr user) it’d be:
Stay anonymous. Use a nickname or something ESPECIALLY if you’re a youngin’
Turn off public likes/following in settings.
Say nice things in the tags when u reblog art/writing/edits/gifs/etc. because every op (original poster) reads those and it makes their day
Block any corporate account you come across (this excludes small business, please support them if you like their work!)
Also block celebrities! You wanna follow what they’re doing? Go to their Instagram. This platform is one of the last places where we can be ourselves and not monetize our interests. We like it that way.
You can organize your blog! Use [#tags like this,] without the brackets to keep track of aesthetics you like or funny posts! It’s also nice if you wanna have a well kept blog for people to enjoy and look through your organized blog.
There are tumblr holidays and you’ll learn to love them <3 they’re silly and tbh it’s this community made culture that really makes this place special
There are a lot of millennials on here that are so sweet and amazing and they post about their interests and skills in their fields like history, cooking, art, science, etc. They’re a lot more friendly than the tiktok millennials that tried to start beef with teenagers. Be nice to them.
Follow @neil-gaiman he’s the coolest one here!!
Tumblr isn’t really what it used to be, like what it’s unflatteringly famous for… it’s pretty calm and fun here on most days. A lot of us are grown and know better than to start fights. (It’s not perfect obvi but it’s alright)
If you see an amazing resource that it’s best to not share, DON’T TALK ABOUT IT ON TIKTOK. That’s how we lost the library website. Appreciate these treasures. Don’t use them for an hour of internet clout on the worlds worst app.
Reblog stuff!! That’s how posts stay alive a decade after the op posted it. It’s still good and we love a chuckle and the nostalgia if you’re old enough to remember it

I understand that Linda Monroe is a bad person. I understand that the way she treats people is unacceptable.
But I also understand that she just wanted Roman to be proud of her. For once in her life, she wanted her father to see her as something other than a barn animal; a pig. Because that's all she was to him. A little piggy. She wanted his approval. She wanted to impress him. And at every chance, he took that, and turned it into an opportunity to degrade her. Make fun of her for trying. Disregard what she has to say.
At the end of Honey Queen, Linda sees that Roman is proud of her for the first time in her life, and she starts crying. She can't help it. It's all she's worked for. She is finally more than a pig to him--she's a queen. The sweetest woman in town. The way all fathers should view their daughters. For a single, happy moment, she gets what she's always dreamed of.
Only for him to betray her. To reveal that she will meet a terrible fate, a vessel for a dark lord. He is not happy for her, he's happy to give her up for something he's decided is better. More worthy. Linda is murdered by the man who should have protected her from the beginning.
And that's the tragedy of Honey Queen. Let the starving woman be picked apart, used for all she is worth, and finally discarded while her father watches and smiles.

I have so many conflicting feelings about Jane Perkins-Houston. She is a great mother. She is a manipulative bitch. She loves her sister. She thinks greenpeace girl is hot. Her best friend is Linda Monroe. She is a psychiatrist. She treats her husband like a patient instead of a lover. She took care of a literature professor that told her about the black book. Her family are probably hatchetmen. She likes bars. She is the perfect older sister. She is a car.

did you hear about what Martin said about Susan and Linda on the Twitter space he hosted on the 27th? i thought of you instantly when he started talking about them and have been waiting for you to post your thoughts! :-)
HEHE YES IM THE ONE WHO’S QUESTION LED TO THAT!!!!!
Now for those who didn’t listen to that space, Martin said that Linda called her to say goodbye but never specified how it went of course. Besides “hey Susan I’m leaving sorry this is really impacting my mental health” “gaaaaaaaaaaey”/j
This is all a personal headcanon but I like to think that their friendship grew incredibly distant ever since Linda married Felix, Susan probably stopped talking to her altogether for a while and it would leave Linda very confused and upset. They might’ve started talking to eachother again a little bit as the series of events began to approach but only very brief small talk, maybe Linda complaining a little and giving Susan a few life updates and them both talking about stuff they’ve been noticing with others lately (especially Felix’s drinking), but nothing deeper than that.
I see Susan being extremely emotionally closed off to most people except maybe a select few that she knows very closely, so if you were to ask her what’s going on in her life she’d give you a very vaguely watered down version and not what’s actually going on or how she’s really managing herself emotionally.
So basically she used to be more open with Linda, but during that period she sort of just started treating her like a stranger.
So when Linda called her first to tell her that she’s finally leaving, Susan acted how she usually would, keeping it calm, understanding and respectful and wishing her luck, but she won’t really show any more than that. Or that she cried later and felt pretty bad that they couldn’t be so close anymore and that she’ll probably never be able to make up for herself acting so distant for the past many years again.
Of course this all comes from how I view Susan as a character myself though and also the fact that I refuse to pass up the idea that she has feelings for Linda. I like to think that she introduced her to Felix cuz Linda was getting more desperate to find a relationship and Susan was getting weird thoughts so in a panic she shoved her off to him so she could avoid the urges. They’ve been boiling within her since highschool and she always was able to push them aside or excuse them as “she’s just my very close friend I don’t have many close friends so she feels extra special” and as the years went by they began distracting her a lot from her work and were growing stronger and more unavoidable aaand they were really beginning to affect how she’d interact with Linda and you see Susan hates feeling like another has any control over her and Linda just wouldn’t shut up about hooooow badly she wants a relationship and hoooow many dates keep failing and Susan was at the point to where she was starting to get the kind of dreams that make you stare up at the ceiling in horror when you open your eyes in the morning so one day when she overheard Felix speaking about being single and wanting to start looking around, she decided to introduce her to him. Susan allegedly never finds a problem she can’t fix in some way so that was her solution.
They hit it off, Susan’s solution isn’t working for some reason cuz she doesn’t feel any relief at all and in fact feels worse but just sucks it up and just focuses on her work and looks the other way. Linda and Felix get married, Susan feels like throwing up the entire day and now feels somehow even more worse by now and suddenly whenever Linda wants to chat she’s suddenly always “busy” every time. Susan’s often busy anyways but you know yourself when there’s a difference between “shit I’m busy that day, let’s do Sunday instead” and “Sorry I can’t, I’m busy”, “I don’t know when I’ll be available.”
While Linda and Felix were dating, Susan probably assumed that she was just jealous that she couldn’t have a little fun at her age herself. When they got married, Susan told herself that she’s probably so depressed over it cuz it’s making her feel like she’s fallen behind others her age and that maybe she feels bitter that all of these people are moving on and going through these important life stages while she remains behind. Which made no sense otherwise cuz Susan couldn’t give any less of a fuck about starting any sort of family or going out. But that’s what Susan would tell herself that she feels so she wouldn’t have to think about it any further. By the time Susan thinks she’s over whatever it was, she begins having brief talks with Linda occasionally. Not often and still a bit distant, but way better than before.
So yeah can you imagine how shitty and guilty Susan felt that whole time of her weird bitterness toward Linda being in a relationship and not being able to approach her much anymore or how Felix turned out to be such a shitty husband.
If this headcanon is aligned with twf’s canon, she’d probably be dead before she even gets to actually acknowledge and accept her feelings as they are. Such is life though. Not like she could’ve done anything about it.

not sure if it counts as a running gag but in Not Your Seed the line "you let me down again" and the whole of If I Fail You is a rly interesting parallel to me.
i haven't seen NPMD yet and i dont remember if theres any connection to be drawn in nightmare time but idk. its somethin
Ohhhh this is really interesting.
There does seem to be an ongoing theme of parents doing whatever they can to avoid letting their kids down. Bill fears failing Alice in gwdlm and Watcher World, and Tom fears failing Tim in Black Friday.
But, we also see the other side of the coin, where the “children” are afraid of letting down their parental figures. Hannah in Yellow Jacket worries about not contributing enough and burdening Lex. Also, Linda craves the approval of her father in Honey Queen.
As for NPMD, Mayor Lauter expresses his disappointment in Steph constantly. She doesn’t fear failing him because she thinks she already has. But, as Pete says, she’s “smarter than she thinks she is.” She has to let go of her father’s perspective in order to embrace who she is and what she wants.
(Sorry for the rambling, I love analyzing characters and connecting narrative threads lol)

imagine this
You're Charlotte Sweetly. The 75th annual honey queen convention is coming up and Sam has been acting distant, even more then he usually is. Well, at least you have Ted, and there's no way Sam is cheating on you? Right? So you and your totally faithful husband go to the Honey Queen Festival Beauty Pageant and are watching the contestants for the Honey Queen Title. Zoey Chambers goes on and fails miserably. The audience, you included, laugh at her failure while Sam tells them to shut up before going behind the curtain. Huh. Interesting. Then the son of one of the contestants.. what was his name. Rick? Rory? River? Leaves to go to the bathroom. His father and the contestant's husband follows when the son is gone for a suspiciously long time.
The next time you hear of your husband is that he was killed in a car crash and the body of Gerald Monroe was found with him.
WHAT THE FUCK?

THIS POST WILL CONTAIN SPOILERS FOR THE NEWEST BOB'S BURGERS EPISODE JADE IN THE SHADE‼️‼️ DO NOT CONTINUE TO READ IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN IT OR DON'T WANT SPOILERS
I normally don't post thoughts on here about specific episodes but this episode was genuinely so good that I need to talk about it.
First: some smaller details that I really like that aren't super big to the story
- this episode proves my theory that there are ways to give Louise an outfit that fits the triangle shape language without it being a dress. She is so cute in that outfit and I absolutely love her little boots
- the facial expressions and body language are so good, I absolutely love how they are adding more simple body language things to episodes recently to add more character. Examples:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
- just louise's little bounces are so cute and Linda desperately trying to grab Louise cause she's scared about her kid idk it's just so good to me 😭
- also per usual the side plot was sweet, I absolutely love that moment where the tube guy has a light behind him like he was Jesus it was so funny to me 😭😭
- this is like the first time an episode has heavily referenced past happenings before. Like they constantly Talk about the movie AND they're in the hotel they were at for that Halloween episode in I think season 10. I absolutely love that they talked about the movie
Now for more character driven moments that make me explode:
- smaller character moment but MR. FISCHOEDER ACTUALLY GIVING LOUISE MONEY IS SO SWEET LIKE HE ACTUALLY CARES ABOUT THIS FAMILY AND IS WILLING TO GIVE LOUISE SOME MONEY 😭😭😭😭😭 genuinely so good I absolutely love them 😭😭
- Logan's mom being really clingy actually explains a lot with Logan, and I know that they have done things like this in the past but I don't think it was as blatantly obvious. It's really good characterization for Logan and actually made me feel for Logan. LOGAN.
- Louise finally said the quiet part out loud where she doesn't think she's a kid. Like I'm pretty positive she's never said she doesn't think she's a child out loud before which is probably one of the best cases of show don't tell I've seen in a while, and now her saying she's not a kid feels natural.
- I love how Linda was taking care of one of her kids without being completely overbearing like she is with Gene and sometimes Tina. She's showing growth as a mother and starting to undo the trauma she went through as a kid
- this is my favorite part of the episode and the most blatant sign of character growth, BUT THE FACT THAT LOUISE ACTUALLY KEPT THE MONEY INSTEAD OF IMMEDIATELY SPENDING IT ALMOST BROKE ME. I was not expecting her to keep it and my immediate thought when it cuts to her hanging something up on her was like she bought the newspaper clip from the hotel or a copy of it to hang on her wall, but it cutting to the money was one of the best ways of subverting character expectations I have seen. This is probably my favorite character arc I've seen Louise go through and it's not even the biggest one 😭 AND LOOK AT HER FACE WHEN SHE HANGS IT UP TOO IM ILL 😭😭
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Anyways, I hope y'all like my ramblings about the new episode, I'm thinking about doing something like his for every new episode this season cause I will most definitely need to rant and this is the best way I can think of without bombarding my friends with my thoughts. 😭

Why am I just now realising Linda named all her children in water themed names because she's the president of the hatchetfield boating society.
