Tried out this lipstick I found at Winners (Canadian TJ Maxx) with my new glasses and I'm in love! Lipstick is MAC retro matte liquid lipcolour in Atomized. It's a surprisingly light matte and it didn't dry my lips out as much as I expected. It felt really nice on 😊

The glasses are from Zeelool last year (only got the lenses on Friday bc disability only covers one set every so often) and they're SO cute and comfy!

Hi guys,

Welcome to the Pillow Talk Party! In case you haven't seen my other blog posts this week, we are celebrating Charlotte Tilbury's new Pillow Talk products. So far we have had the new shade Pillow Talk Fair in glosses, lipsticks and lip cheats and today we have a completely brand new product! Today we are chatting about the already viral Pillow Talk Big Lip Plumpgasm Plumping Lip Gloss, £27.00.

Last month this product was teased on social media and I was so excited to see a brand new lip formula. We love the Lip Collagen formula which makes your lips look fuller and shiner but this new formula is a whole other level! Usually I have plumping glosses because I can't stand that mouth on fire feeling but this formula is more unique and more comfortable on the lips.

The Plumpgasm Plumping Gloss comes in 2 shades fair - medium and medium - deep, for obvious reasons I got the first shade which is a pink nude tone. This new formula starts off as a cooling sensation rather than a burning feeling and then tingles as your lips get plumper, it's a weird description I know but it's honestly accurate. The best part is you don't have to wait ages for the plumping effect, once you apply the gloss you can see your lips start to change straight away. Like I said out of all the brands I've tried before this is by far the most comfortable and the gloss shade is stunning itself.

As Charlotte says "Enriched with Plumpgasm Heat + Ice Technology, plump-effect Collageneer™️ and hydrating Hyaluronic Acid, the formula combines the hydrating comfort of a balm + the amplifying power of a lip plumper with the beautifying pretty pink Pillow Talk effect so your lips look plumper + smoother". The gloss itself comes in a bigger applicator compared to a regular Tilbury gloss and the packaging is stunning! It's very unique to Charlotte's normal packaging and I adore it!

So if you're in the market for a new plumping lip product I would really recommend checking this one out. Some people are sensitive to plumping makeup products so check the ingredients first on the page linked above. As always all products mentioned are linked above.

Got a few different lipsticks the last few days, here's some recs from the ones I liked (these are all drugstore brands):

Max Factor Colour Elixir lipstick in the shade Chilli (080) - on the darker side of midrange red, but with a shimmery gold worked into the formula that looks really nice on the lips and in the tube; doesn't dry completely, so it's definitely transfer-prone. NYX extra creamy lipstick in Snow White (LSS569) - actually a very dark red, and the closest I've come to the color I was looking for; also transfer prone, but most drugstore brands are, so that's to be expected for the low cost. Covergirl 24hr Matte in Watch Me (700) - I already had this and wore it the other day, so it's not a new purchase, but it's a really gorgeous dark brown shade that stayed on pretty well over the course of the day, and only really came off when eating.

I don't have/use any lip liners (I've tried, it did not work), so I can't make any promises as to "bleeds past the edges of the lip into the skin cracks" things, because basically every lipstick I've ever worn does this to me.

CoverGirl UltiMatte Lipstick : 150 Cabernet with Bae 💄

This was the first and only CoverGirl product I tried. I could say that the price is fair, but the quality is so low that unfortunately in the end the price is not worth it!

I sent an email to the brand, but I didn't get a response, so I sent some photos directly to the reviews on the site with the hope that they could improve the quality of the product.

Cons.: Oily (matte?) appearance and the color is not uniform.

Enviei um e-mail para a marca, mas não obtive resposta, então enviei algumas fotos diretamente para as avaliações do site na esperança de que pudessem melhorar a qualidade do produto.

Contra: Aspecto oleoso (matte?) e a cor não fica uniforme.

i 1000% support and respect the choice of women to not wear makeup, to speak out against the beauty industry, to talk and write about the emotional/mental/physical/financial drain that adhering to patriarchal beauty standards causes. i stand by all of that wholeheartedly.

that being said, i get a certain type of emotional looking at the selfies that women post and attach to their sephora reviews of lipstick. i am genuinely moved by it. women of all different races and sizes and features, finding joy and self-confidence in rubbing pigmented wax on their lips. i’m particularly touched by the five-star reviews for bold, unnatural lip colors. you, a 42-year-old mom of three, felt so good about yourself in a bright red lipstick that you took a glowing photo of yourself wearing it to share to other women as if to say hey, i looked great today, i felt great too, and i want to help you feel the same way???? even if it’s in a super impermanent and superficial way?????? go off queen!

Mac Cosmetics is Expensive 😟

Mac is so expensive now!

You probably got email notification of their new lip product by now. The Mac Locked Kiss Ink Lipcolor. Curious about the colors and prices, I click through and find they are $33!

Holy Freakin’ Moly

So I dug up what old receipts I had on my computer back to 2011 and 2013 when I started getting into Mac lippies big time.

You can see Mac Show Orchid listed below as $14.50. And my fave but discontinued formula the Sheen Supreme lipstick in Asian Flower.

That’s when the Mac Wonder Woman collection came out and it was priced higher being exclusive limited edition packaging for $15.50. That collection got me hooked to go deeper into Mac and makeup in general. The makeup-consumming public went wild in anticipation of new Mac LE collections back then, now not so much.

Prior to that it was Mac Blankety and some other nudes that I discovered back in 2005 that was my very first foray into Mac. I vaguely remember but I know I paid $13 or less for those lippies at Macys.

Now to see the price more than DOUBLE is sad and sadly, a sign of the times. All those indie brands along with current hyperinflation has pushed Mac to change. Now you can get Mac at Ulta inside Target. Now makeup goes on sale. You could never get a discount on cosmetics years ago and could only get the high-end stuff at a department store like Macys or Marshall Field’s.

What’s even more true today is that you don’t have to spend $30+ for a lipstick. You can get it for much less. But Mac is trying to define itself in the market as a high-end brand and worth the price.

Many articles and blogs have used cookie cutter copy to justify the price gouging. It’s expensive now because “they use natural, high quality ingredients and strategic marketing”. Don’t believe me? Do a Google search and you’ll see the repetition of similar language. How much were they paid to promote that propaganda? 🤨

If you’re a newbie and just getting into Mac, know the history and know that you don’t have to have 100 different red lipsticks. Pick a few that work well on you. Makeup habits and trends change with the seasons of your life. What you are into at 25 won’t be what you’re into at 45. Oh and wait for the sales. 😉 ✌️
