Painting again today.... yes!!!! What do you use if you forget your palette? 🎨 Answer....whatever you have.😊 In my case a painting that I was going to try to transform. Oh well. Needs must. 😀Sometimes a plastic bag, or a bit of woods lying around will do. Best bit of advice from me? ...to write a list and check you’ve got all your gear if you’re planning on painting in the field. And of course, go to the loo before you leave the house. ‘Beyond The Fields’ - Bishops Stortford This painting was a lot of fun to produce. I love working in colour and seeing how they ‘pop’ against other. Knowing what I want to paint has been a big part of my journey as an artist. It’s taken years, decades even, to know what I like and what I want to produce. Something really clicked with me in December when artist friend really challenged me on it. He suggested I photograph through the day; when I’m with the family, as I walk, as I do jobs. The result was amazing; a real lightning moment as I realised that I loved landscapes, how the sun effects colour you see, and I have a huge thing for perspective and composition. It was hugely releasing and it shut down that ‘inner critic’ that doubts all you do. So in short, this painting encompasses that lightning moment for me. It’s just a landscape but it tap-dances a joyful jig as the colours and light work their magic. I’m kind of going off on one but I hope you can see the energy and happiness in this one. This painting is 40 x 30 cm, acrylic paint on oil paper and is £200 including UK P and P. DM me if you are interested in any of my paintings. Work in Progress - Much Hadham Commission OK, full disclosure; I am meant to be doing paperwork and admin indoors for my husband.... I’m really hoping he doesn’t see this post....😬😬😬😬😬 But today is so gorgeous and I couldn’t help myself after all that rain. I just had to pack the paints and a few canvases and a bit of water so that I can chuck some paint around in the grass and hedgerows. ‘Spring Awakening’ I’ve had another great day painting in a field in Much Hadham. It doesn’t take much to keep me happy but I’m loving the colours that I’m seeing! (Look at that sky 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩!) ‘The Path - Tilmanstone’ This is my third painting from yesterday in #tilmanstone and of the three paintings that I worked on, it’s his favourite. He is an illustrator by training so he’s my first objective opinion that I listen to. It’s always helpful and interesting, especially when I’m battling in my art practice (mostly with myself 😂) Something really different happens when I start painting my third painting I don’t quite know what it is but it’s always a totally different style to my first painting. Is that the same for any of you out there? Maybe it’s the light? Maybe it’s the familiarity with the scene? Or maybe it’s that I can’t feel my fingers any more and I want coffee 😉. ‘Fairfield’s - Tilmanstone This is my second painting from this morning in #tilmanstone. Very different to the first and much looser. I met some lovely dogs 🐕 and dog walkers. Anyone who knows me, will tell you I love a chat. I even got invited to stay at Peter and Anita’s, down the lane, if I visit the area again. So lovely of them. They were tackling the mole hills and the ivy as I trundled past with my bags of paint (no gloves or easel again 🥶).... Some very nice folk live in the #gardenofengland. Thank you Kent. ‘The Two Trees’ I painted this morning in an incredible field in #tilmanstone. It was gloriously sunny and I could hear so many different things. I thought I heard an owl several times (twitters - correct me if that’s ludicrous) and a rustling in the hedgerows. (and my inner critic 😉). The field was home to two magnificent trees, standing attention like two soldiers. This painting is straight from the field Andy not touched up in the studio.
