Why calling Feilong "Feilong" is rude for Kirishima?

Recently there's a question on Discord that asked "Is Liu the surname or Feilong?" Let me try to explain the name in details...

First of all, "Liu Feilong" is spelt using the Mandarin phonology (Putonghua pinyin). For Hong Kongers' names, we usually use a spelling system that is not exactly Wade-Giles nor Jyutping, but base on common conventions. For Fei, his name would be spelt as "Lau Fei Lung". Base on just how your name is spelt, we could guess where you come from because China mainland, Singapore, HK & Macau, Taiwan, Malaysia etc. all had different ways to transliterate the same word.

Put Fei Fei as the example, the surname could be spell as: Liu (China & Taiwan), Lau (HK), Lao (Macau), Liew (Malaysia), Yu (Korea), Lưu (Vietnam).

And for HK people, it's common to have a make-up name, which we usually call it our "English name". For instance, Bruce Lee (Lee Siu Long) and Jackie Chan (Shing Long) [Yes, the same Long as Fei]. This is for easy communications with foreigners as we know it's hard to pronounce our names in Cantonese. The English name could be (1) Registered officially that it appears in all your documents, (2) No formal registration but you can force everyone around you to call you by that name. Sometimes your parents would choose one for you, and most of the time kids just pick one when they started school.

Let say Fei had decided to use "Andrew" as his name. He could make it on his documents as (1) Liu Feilong Andrew, (2) Liu Andrew Feilong, (3) Liu Andrew, (4) Liu Feilong.

And as for WHO could call Feilong "Feilong"? Different from western culture, calling people by their given names is quite intimate.

Older family members (Senior Liu & Yan): Feilong, Fei

Younger family members: Called by titles, e.g. Uncle Fei/ big brother

Teachers / anyone more superior: Feilong, Liu Feilong

Subordinates: Boss, Liu Lobaan (boss Liu), Big brother

Friends & classmates: usually the English name or if Fei decided it's OK, they can call him Fei / Feilong

Strangers: Mr. Liu

Kirishima: definitely at least Mr. Liu

Mikhail: Honey Probably Mr. Liu before they start anything real.
