am i the asshole for stealing my cousins cat?

alright it isn’t her cat. it’s mine. i’m the one that adopted her and cared for her for about 4 years. she was the first pet i got for myself and i love her very much. last year however i had to live somewhere else for a bit for my job. it was supposed to be temporary and i’d still be visiting my original house a few times a week. so i decided to leave my cat there too since the stress of moving her back and forth would be too much. my cousin also livs in the original house and took care of her while i was away.

i ended up staying away longer than planned and my cousin became very attached to the cat. she constantly started talking about how it was basically her cat and how she’s the one doing all the work of taking care of her. i didn’t mind too much cause i knew she was still my cat, i was just in kind of an awkward position at the time.

eventually i brought the cat to my new house because i was staying longer than i planned and i was barely seeing her. this really upset my cousin. she’d constantly text me about how fucked up i was for taking the cat and how i need to bring her back to the original house because it’s her cat now. originally i ignored it but i was also starting to go through a mental breakdown (for unrelated reasons). but she was constantly texting me, probably for a full three months telling me i need to bring the cat back. eventually i just backed down and brought the cat back.

from then on, for about a month or so my cousin just genuinely thought it was her cat. i was barely ever able to come visit so she was looking after her basically full time.

however, around that time, her mom and my aunt broke up, meaning she would have to move out. she wanted to take the cat with her. at first i was willing to let it go. she was in a rough place with what was going on and sometimes you just have to let things go. the thing that got me was that their plan was to move from the original house, to a friends house, then to an uncles house, and then FINALLY their new house. this freaked me the fuck out because all i could think about was how stressed this would make the cat.

i tried to talk to my cousin and her mother but they said it wasn’t up for discussion. it was her cat, and they were taking her. there was nothing i could do about it. everyone in my family told me i needed to let it go but thinking about how much stress it would put on the cat made me so upset.

my boyfriend came up with the idea to take her. my cousin and her mom were busy moving things into the friends house so they weren’t at the house. i had my dad pick me and my boyfriend up to take us to the new house. we went out my bedroom window so no one would see us take the cat. and we left.

this caused a small war within the family. mostly through text. lots of old drama coming to the surface with it. i don’t talk to my cousin anymore.

the funniest thing though is that i found out they had to move three more times because her mom kept getting kicked out of the houses they were staying at.

most importantly though, the cat is happy now. she’s a very sweet cuddly kitty with no added stress. i feel bad with what i put her through but i feel like things worked out the best way they could for her.

so yeah. am i the asshole?

min barndomsveninde, som jeg kun ser én gang hvert andet år agtigt, men som jeg har kendt siden 2. klasse (vi var rimelig gode venner til og med gym), har for sådan to måneder siden bedt mig reservere to mulige datoer til hendes 25 års fødselsdagsfejring. sås med hende lidt efter hun havde spurgt mig, og det var mere gensynsglæde der fyldte, for vi har ikke så meget til fælles længere:/ men jeg sagde stadigvæk ja til at tage med til hendes fest, for det er jo en stor dag, og der kommer to andre fra vores folkeskole, jaja cute nok. MEN nu har hun fandeme skrevet, at man SKAL give endeligt svar inden d. 30., for så regner hun ud, hvor meget folk skal betale i indgangspris????????????? sorry men at hun har lejet et forsamlingshus, som hun ikke har råd til, det irriterer mig virkelig!!!!!!! forstår godt, at hun har vil holde en stor fest, og cirka 30-50 kroner er jo ikke mange penge (hun har også skrevet, at man så ikke behøver at give hende en gave), men det er PRINCIPPET der irriterer mig! og man skal også klæde sig ud agjhirwklijoakfsplæ og der er en præmie til vinderen>:( havde bare tænkt mig at være der et par timer, for jeg mødte også den ene fra min folkeskole forleden, som på ingen måder var interesseret i at høre om mit liv, så jeg tænker ikke, at jeg skal have den vildeste aften:D okay sorry for brok. men tænker at jeg skal melde afbud snarest, så ikke at hun charger mig senere (fx lige at få en mobilepay anmodning hvis jeg melder mig syg på dagen). eller er jeg for smålig??

for context, i [male, vviolet, 7.5 svveeps] grevv up vvervv isolated, mvv lusus is one of those ocean_onlvv ones vvho livves prettvv deep undervvater, i think it mavv,vve fucked up mvv grovvth a bit actuallvv but its vvhatevver, the important part is i had basicallvv no connection vvith the outside vvorld until I vvas about 6 svveeps vvhen i stumbled on an emptvv hivve,

i,vve nevver had an inclination to interact vvith other trolls though, i nevver reallvv knovv hovv to respond to anvvthing and its more effort than its vvorth reallvv, but online i do lurk a lot [and i mean a lot] on forums and the like, especiallvv vvhen it comes to flarp, i got super invvested in flarp vvervv quicklvv and trvv to absorb as much as i could about it, i keep up vvith all the nevvs of the big campaigns and i havve all the rules memorized and etc etc, i livved vvicariouslvv through the stories and alvvavvs vvanted to plavv but accepted earlvv on i vvouldn,t because i vvas nevver going to havve anvvone to plavv vvith,

anvvvvavv, one of these fourms is vvhere i met B [female, rust, 7 svveeps], and long storvv short after she picked up on mvv lurking on some of her pages she basicallvv hunted dovvn praticallvv evvervv account of mine and demanded to knovv vvhat mvv deal vvas, and basicallvv made me meet and talk to the rest of her group, [about 10 trolls in all, but most importantlvv to this storvv C (female, olivve, 7.3 svveeps), othervvise knovvn as B,s <>,] thevv,re cool, and although i vvas onlvv talking to most of them because B vvas pressuring me at first, i settled in and started vvillinglvv chatting after a bit, and after a vvhile the group,s then_current campaign ended and the next game planned vvas a historical themed oceanfaring one, so B offered to let me join,

i vvas honestlvv thrilled to evven havve a chance to flarp but i vvarned them again about mvv lack of socialization and mentioned that i mavv seem a little strange or not pick up on stuff face_to_face, although i alreadvv had a reputation for that online anvvvvavv so no_one minded, but i did make sure thevv vvere avvare,

[also before vve continue to the game i think its important to point out evvervvone in this group greatlvv vvalued the storvv and being in character, and i enjovved that because it made for some great stories, hovvevver it,ll come up in a second,]

so i met up vvith evvervvone and it vvas great, but vve got into the game quicklvv and long storvv short, me and C,s characters didnt get along, i,ll spare vvou the details but i underestimated mvv strength compared to her durabilitvv and accidentlvv culled her,

i didnt see anvvthing vvrong vvith this in the moment because i made sure to incorporate mvv ovvn lack of social experience into mvv character just in case something like this happened, and it vvas in character for both of us [also its literallvv called flarp its fatal the point is culling at the end of the night reallvv], so i vvas continuing on like normal, but B immideatelvv broke character and freaked out on me, vvelling that „i vvent too far„ and that „i vvas just jealous she vvas spending more time vvith C„ and started ranting about hovv i vvas a „terrible <3< anvvvvavv„ and „shit at communication„

obvviouslvv i vvas like vvhat the fuck are vvou talking about¿ as it turns out, me and B vvere apparentlvv <3< ¿ i had no idea, but apparentlvv vve,d been <3< since a little after vve started talking,

i vvas confused but B vvas super pissed and upset and called the session off, so the rest of the group dispersed [i dont knovv hovv thevv all reacted, no one interfered and im terrible at deciphering expressions] and i just vvent back undervvater,

novv, its been about half a perigree since and no one has said anvvthing in the forum or privvate messaged me, and ivve been hesitant to reach out to anvvone in case it pisses off B like that again and she decides to make some kind of call out post or something about me on chittr, because as prevviouslvv mentioned she does havve all mvv current accounts and odds are she can find anvv more i make, [if vvou can,t alreadvv tell, shes an caste activvist tvvpe, vvhich i dont mind (its just vvhatevver to me), but she has a big and vvervv lovval follovving on chittr and i vvorrvv thevv vvon,t think tvvice before harassing me forevver because of the vvhole highblood vvs lovvblood thing]
