Horimiya is just so good!

I haven’t made a post about it since episode 3 but this episode really hit me hard. Not from personal experience like last time but seeing that scene near the end hit me.

The one about Iura comforting and cheering up his sister. Him offering to punch her teacher for laughing at her, asking Hori to tutor her, telling her that she can make it. The entire scene just hit me and actually made me feel so much. And he even bought her a good luck charm for the exam. I really hope she passes that exam.

Like, Iura just seems like such a good brother. I was so happy to see that scene. I didn’t really pay too much attention to Iura before this, but this scene just made me so happy to see.

And Hori was great too, being fine with tutoring her and trying to spend their first session just talking with her and making things more comfortable for her there. I just really like Iura’s sister and hope she does well. She wants to succeed and she’s trying so hard.

Horimiya is just such a good show and I’m so glad I started it.

#my posts #animanga #liveblogging #liveblogging horimiya #im rewatching and rereading it #in the manga im on ch 38 #and im watching the anime episodes out of order #and i keep tearing up #as much as i prefer the manga over the anime #the voices and the music just give some scenes a lil more impact #and its just that i love this story and these characters so much #this is the one manga i can say gets better once the plot... ends or something #but its good even before then #its just always good #what gets me most about it is how it handles the characters #for example miyamura's development is always happening #from the beginning to the end he's constantly growing and learning and opening up #and then there's how the group itself grows #you'd assume this manga just focuses on hori and miyamura and just has some side characters #but it is in fact about a group of like 9 people #and the way this group itself forms #through miyamura and love triangles and then yanagi's presence #oh and im forever blown away by how it blurs the lines between shoujo and shounen romance manga #BECEAUSE IT DOES AND YOU CAN'T CHANGE MY MIND #i just love it :(

Hello friends, it's come to my attention that the chat room function on this hellsite (affectionate) is coming to an end. For those of you looking for other ways to chat, I made a discord back when tumblr banned NSFW content, and we were all worried the site might come to an end. Thankfully that didn't happen, but I'm still grateful I made the discord. It's been a lot of fun discussing headcanons, not just for our favorite ship (though that certainly is one of the main themes of the discord), but any fandoms that tickle our fancy. Sometimes we even do games, like cards against humanity, although it's been awhile and we should get back into it.

We have channels for writing, tropes, and all sorts of things. Also if you're worried about nsfw content, we have a separate channel for that too, so you don't even have to interact with it if it's not your thing.

I really think Fruits Baskets fans might like Horimiya. There’s no animal shape shifting to be had, or even super abusive/dramatic family elements, but it’s just a story about a large group of kids in high school which follows their relationships, whether they just be friends or love interests, and their own insecurities. I’d probably label it as a slice of life romcom, and it’s definitely helped tide me over until the final Fruits Basket season gets here!

What are your top 5 series, anime/cartoons/live action anything?

Oh ho ho, my friend, you made a mistake by leaving the question open for me to pick, because now I'll just gush over the same anime/manga stuff I always talk about

-Re:zero. Amazing webnovel that not as much deconstructs the Isekai genre and the "the chosen one that shall save us from evil" but completely demolishes it with a tactical carpet bombing, turning lot of stuff over it's head. Quite depressing at first, but things improve and most of the ideas the story break also are reconstructed later on with more positive and realistic visions. That being said, i absolutely don't recommend it for anyone lol

-Tower of god. Webseries that I don't even know where to begin explaining. Mystery and emotions, amazing fights and such loveable and interesting characters- this one I can recommend without much worry, both the webseries as well as the anime.

-Toradora. Classic. Love this romance story. It's far from perfect, but there's something so sweet about the developing and changing of feelings between the characters.

-Sleepy princess of the demon castle. This one I recommended a while ago, and honestly I don't have much more to say besides "it is a blast"

-Neon Genesis Evangelion. Now, anyone that read my hitoribocchi liveblog probably suspects I like this one a bit, and they are right. The faux religious symbolism is still cool, the story is heavy and it hits you with how human and flawed those characters are, and the end is complete madness. That being said, as re:zero, I can't recommend it.

-Tonikawa. like Toradora, another romance I appreciate a lot, but this one what really made me stay was the mystery behind the story, the things that were happening behind the curtains, and I must say I'm pleasantly surprised over getting almost everything correctly.

-Dr Stone. A Minecraft Speedrun of the human history, with a lot of cool stuff. You'll learn more about science in here than you probably did in school.

And those are the ones that first came up to my head, give me another chance and I'll probably bring up Welcome to demon-school, Horimiya and my next life as a villainess lmao
