7 Steps On How To Overcome Challenges Of Life: The Happiness Choice
Do you feel like life is too hard to bear? Have you ever (or are encountering) a challenge that seems so suffocating? Perhaps, a point where motivational rhetoric no longer inspires you. Sometimes, all you crave is a word of encouragement, but you receive none. Do you feel trapped or hopeless?
They're called emotions, and it's okay to have them. Even motivational speakers need motivation. And there are speculations that even therapists need therapy.
My point is that we all have our unique challenges depending on the kind of adjective we use to qualify them. It could be about work, academics, parenting, relationships, as well as other things that make us unhappy in life.
We often equate happiness with the absence of challenges in our existence and conversely associate sadness with the presence of challenges in our reality. Such vacillation!
The real questions here are: How do I overcome my challenges? How do I stay happy even when faced with the challenges of life?
You may have heard whatever might be said in this article before, but please read this with a new mindset and courage.
I'd start by saying that happiness is a choice! You can decide to get out of the trap of sadness, self-loathing, and depression.
Are you ready? Let's explore the process.
ACCEPT YOUR FEELINGS, DON'T SUPPRESS THEM
Humans are rational and emotional beings. This is what distinguishes us from other organisms on this planet. So why do you reject your feelings? They are a component of your identity. If you attempt to repress your emotions, they will resurface involuntarily like a fully inflated balloon that is pressed down and eventually explodes.
Embrace how you feel about your bad days and your current challenges. You need to accept them before you can fix them. It's okay to have emotions. But you also need to find a balance, and you will.
REMEMBER THAT IT IS A FEELING, AN EMOTION
Facts are based on logic, but emotions can make us ignore them. Feelings can change, but logic stays the same. Don't you agree? Think about this question honestly: Do you still feel the same intensity of emotion now as you did shortly after you became aware of that abrupt calamity that afflicted you somehow a long time ago?
Your anger, frustration or sadness are short-lived reactions to the difficulties of life. So don't make choices when you are very emotional, because they can make you ignore logic. Hence, wrong choices.
I remind myself that anger makes me behave like a savage creature and I am not a savage creature
so I refuse to resemble one or do things I will regret. Just because of a predicament that is not the ultimate fate? No way. It's not worth it. This applies to any other emotion I may feel when life gets challenging.
What is the best thing to do now to solve this problem and not let my feelings get in the way, so that I will be happy in the long run? This is a question to ask yourself when you become calm.
TALK TO SOMEONE
"No one is an island", People say this a lot to depict that we all need each other in the society. But I contend that this is not an apt expression. This is because I still see interdependence: even the piece of land is surrounded by water for it to be called an island.
Talk to someone about your problem and how you feel. Sometimes, we just need someone to hear us out. It can make us feel better. We might also get some tips that can help us, from someone who has been through what we are going through or we can learn from their mistakes.
Talk to people who can listen to you and not make you feel worse. Watch out for those who only want to use your pain and neediness to boost their ego.
DO SOMETHING HEALTHY
Self-motivation is very important. Sometimes, I may not have anyone to listen to me or cheer me up when I really need it. What do I do then? Do I just sit and mope? No way. I face the challenge head on. Because even if I had someone to talk to, change still depends on me.
Do something good for yourself that would take your mind off the ongoing troubles. Strive to grow and improve. I posit that the only way to be happy and overcome life's challenges is to grow beyond them. Because the challenge will persist as long as you keep gazing at its face. To grow? You need constant 'watering' and self-scrutiny.
Some things that can make you feel better are: writing down your thoughts and feelings (journalling), listening to good music, reading or listening to something inspiring, taking a nap, eating healthy food (your stomach health can affect your mood), helping others or any other thing I can't think of but you can.
Journalling has helped me a lot. I look back at what I have written and smile. It shows me how much I have grown, how I overcame, how I faced and won.and won. And if I did it before, I can do it again and again and I will.
I emphasize on the word 'healthy'. Avoid addiction or abuse or any other mirage that will harm you in the long run. Like destroying a whole book because of a single page. Choose long-term gratification over short-term gratification.
SEE THE POSITIVE ASPECT
 In real life situations, experts say that to escape suffocation or choke, fighting your way till you breathe increases the chance of survival rather than pretending to give in.
In our reality of overcoming challenges, you fight by being positive.
Look for something to be grateful for. That's your breathing space and your chance to break free!
Don't lose sight of what you have because of what you don't have, it magnifies the presence of the challenge even more.
TAKE THE RIGHT DECISION ABOUT THAT CHALLENGE
Don't remain in your comfort zone and mope. Think of a way to solve your challenge(s) for good. Make goals and plans and work on them.
Do something now! Ask yourself: What do I need to do to move forward? Is this decision good? Is it right? Is it based on my frustrations or my pride?
TAKE ONE STEP AT A TIME

Finally Living in a world where happiness doesn't seem so hard to get, where happiness is actually chasing me instead, where I've been given anything I ever wanted, where I do belong and really matter, showered with love and surrounded by fewer people whom I love and trust, where my door would never be wide open to the past, never again, where my smile doesn't seem fake or intends to hide any scars from the previous night breakdown.
I am who I am now,
I know "it's hard to write about being happy" and "happy people sound so dumb" and "misery makes one an incredible poet" and all, but I know that this state is all I desired since forever and I don't care if I won't be able to write about it 🤍

Cue the music🎶 it's a new dawn,it's a new, a new life for me, and I'm feeling good 🎶 My therapist says that I have to do the opposite of what I normally choose to do. And I have been risk averse as my friend says I have been holding myself back in order to be perfect. And at this point in time I just want to be in the moment I just want to not hurt myself and hurt people around me who love me I want to live with wild abandoned I actually may want to live even though for years my mind and body has been kind of anticipating, waiting for that embrace of the void.
If I'm going to stay on this plane,I don't want to care what anybody tells me. I don't want people's view of me to affect how I feel. I want be a bad girl! I want to do what I please, as I please, when I please, because if I'm here it should be on my terms.
