Gift Exchange
Part of my Christmas series from last winter.  Posted on Ao3 here.
Series: Legacies
Ships: JenLizzie, BenJed
Characters: Lizzie Saltzman, Ben, Jed Tien, Jen
One thing Lizzie Saltzman had always excelled at was figuring out who could help her out of a predicament and how to convince them to do it. At the moment, who she needed was obvious. The how, she hadn’t figured out yet.
The first problem was that the neanderthal demigod she needed help from was constantly stuck to the side of his former wolf boyfriend. She hadn’t seen one without the other since they came back for the holidays and a light bit of monster fighting - well, Jed more researched than fought, which was weird, but whatever. If they weren’t actively helping the Squad or her mother, they found each other like a magnetic pull. It was gross and inconvenient. Jed might not be a frat bro wannabe anymore, but she still wasn’t about to get too vulnerable around him.
The second problem was that she wasn’t sure what she had to offer Ben. Since his curse had broken, the only thing he seemed to want in life was to follow Jed around like a puppy. Again, gross. And again, very inconvenient.
So when the first problem solved itself when she stumbled upon Ben alone in the library ten days before Christmas, she figured the best move was to go for it and hope she came up with an answer for the second on the fly.
Ben looked confused when she sat down on the chair opposite him. She gave him her best charming smile. “Hello, Ben. Can we talk?”
He raised his eyebrows and extended his hand magnanimously. “By all means.”
“I know that you and your sister are still working through your issues, and I totally respect that. But I was thinking, do you know what might help mend your rift? If you helped me find her the perfect Christmas present.” As far as improvised pitches went, it wasn’t bad, even if she was aware she was probably pressing up against some personal boundaries. Well, desperate times.
“What is a Christmas present?”
She frowned. “Wait, do you not know what Christmas is?”
“A Christian holiday celebrating the birth of one of their deities; takes place during the twelfth month of the year,” Ben recited as though reading from a textbook. “Do people exchange gifts for it? I was under the impression that was a birthday tradition.”
“It is, but we do it on Christmas, too. And Valentine’s Day, and anniversaries - you know what? One thing at a time.” Something occurred to her. “Wait, does this mean you don’t have anything for Jed?”
“I wasn’t aware he expected anything. He didn’t mention that part of the holiday to me.”
“Well, then this your lucky day. We can help each other out. You help me figure out what to get Jen, I help you get the right nauseatingly romantic gift for Jed. Deal?”
Ben stood up. “I need to speak with him first.” He hesitated, then added, “I will consider it.”
Lizzie watched him walk away, feeling smug. She definitely had this in the bag.
*
When Ben arrived at the Old Mill, Jed was already a beer and a half in, jiggling his leg and checking his phone. In spite of his uncertainty thanks to his conversation with Lizzie Saltzman, he couldn’t help but grin at the sight of him. “I didn’t keep you waiting too long, did I?”
Jed’s head whipped around and he relaxed immediately. “Nah, of course not. I didn’t even notice.”
Ben hummed skeptically, bending over to give his love a quick kiss before settling into the chair next to him. “I take it the meeting with your pack didn’t go as hoped?”
“It was fine. Kinda weird.” Jed picked at the label on his beer. “I don’t know if things are ever gonna feel normal with them again, now that I’m not actually a wolf anymore.” He rolled his shoulders, clearly trying to shake off his mood. “Whatever. What about you? You were supposed to be here twenty minutes ago.”
“So you did notice?” He chuckled as Jed narrowed his eyes at him. “I had an interesting conversation with Lizzie Saltzman.”
“Oh no. Look, no matter what she says, don’t get roped into helping set up the holiday party. I did freshman year and she made me curl ribbons until my fingers went numb. And then it turned out it wasn’t even for the party, she just didn’t feel like wrapping the presents she got for her family herself.”
Ben ignored the extra information and zeroed in on the relevant part of his tirade. “So Christmas is a holiday that usually involves exchanging gifts?”
“Um, yeah, I guess?” Jed shrugged. “Not that I ever really got one. I mean, the pack gave me a joint gift thing when I was alpha, but they weren’t exactly creative, so it was mostly a lot of gift cards. The Red Lobster ones were nice, I like the cheesy garlic biscuits.”
“Lizzie made it seem as though it was a common tradition, as though everyone got Christmas gifts for those they loved.”
It was heartbreaking to see how quickly Jed tried to shove away the hurt that flashed over his face. “They do. I had a crappy dad and a mom who bailed, and I think she might’ve been Jewish anyway. And I’ve never had a friend that I was close enough to for that kind of thing. Except Finch.” His eyes bugged out. "Wait, crap, Finch. Do I have to get her something? What do you get people for Christmas?”
Unfortunately, Ben didn’t have an answer to that question. He fully intended to get one though.
Which was why he sought Lizzie out the next day in the dining room, joining her at her breakfast table. “I will help you decide what to give my sister if you help me find something to give Jed.”
“Excellent,” Lizzie replied, serene and triumphant at the same time, and Ben worried he’d walked into a ribbon curling situation. No matter. He was determined to make this the best holiday Jed had ever had.
*
Lizzie’s plan was running into a little snag. Ben wasn’t such a big help after all, as it turned out. None of his suggestions were special enough for what she wanted to convey with Jen’s present, and she could tell he was getting just as frustrated as her, squeezed into an armchair he barely fit in, his face getting stonier by the minute.
“My present to Jed will not be a sweater.”
“Why not? Everyone loves a sweater! Well, a good one, and if I pick it out it will be perfect. I’m thinking a soft green.”
“I want it to mean something to him. To both of us.” His forehead crinkled. “Do you mind standing still, please?”
Lizzie paused the pacing she was doing around her room and tossed her hair, finally fed up. “Well, excuse me, you bargain bin Disney prince, but I have a lot riding on this, okay? Whatever you get for Jed, he’s going to fall over himself telling you how much he loves it because he’s basically obsessed with you. There’s no stakes for you here.”
“There are when it’s his first …” The demigod’s lips snapped shut, his eyes wide like he’s let something important slip.
“His first what? Christmas with a boyfriend? Sorry if I’m not tripping over myself to feel sorry for you.” But Ben was still a little too stiff, still avoiding her gaze. “Okay, what is it, his first Christmas present?” Ben’s shoulders and jaw tightened simultaneously. “No way. What about his parents?”
“Can you please forget I said that?” She wasn’t great at reading the demigod, but he looked desperate, and something like guilt suddenly churned in her gut. Jed may have a jackass once upon a time, but she had called him her friend for a couple years now. And yet it was only now occurring to her that she didn’t know anything about his life before he came to the Salvatore School.
She took a breath and sat down on her bed. “I’m sorry, you’re right. That’s none of my business. And I know you’re really trying to help me and I’m not making it easy for you.” She leaned forward. “I like Jen. Not in a friend way, in the way you like Jed.”
Ben was unfazed. “I love Jed. As for your feelings, I’d assumed as much.”
“Of course you did. It’s just me who got blindsided by it.” She flopped back on her bed. “Ugh! I don’t know why it took me so long. I broke up with MG because I knew I didn’t have strong feelings for him, and it’s not like I didn’t know I liked girls. And I kept making excuses to drive down to see Jen and I was spending half my weekends with her and then last Tuesday, she sent me some stupid text and I just … I don’t know, it clicked. But it’s been so long that even if she was interested, she probably thinks I’m not, and I have to show her I am, and Christmas is the perfect time to do it, but I can’t think of anything.” She sat up again, clutching a pillow to her chest. “Maybe she doesn’t even see me that way. She does really like having friends. How long did it take for you to say something to Jed?”
Ben looked mildly fazed after her outburst, but his answer was as calm as ever. “I didn’t. Two weeks or so after we met, Jed told me how he felt. And then he kissed me.”
“Wow. Go Jed.”
“I’m sorry if I’m not being helpful,” Ben said, a clear peace offering. “I’m a little out of my depth. All I can tell you is that gods love offerings, and Jen always preferred food and drink over all others.“
Lizzie wilted. “Well, I already knew that. I need something more to work with.”
“The best offerings were always the ones that meant something to the mortal - or immortal, in your case - who gave it. Do you have anything that you could give that has sentimental value to you?”
“Actually … yeah. It was something I used to do with my mom.” She looked the god over, reappraising him. “Maybe I underestimated you.”
“Thank you?”
“Now, for you. I think the question you need to ask yourself is, what does Jed want most? Maybe not a thing, but something bigger. Like how Kaleb is trying to figure out something with Landon so Cleo can talk to her family in Peace, like what he did for Hope with her dad.”
Ben frowned for a minute, clearly thinking this over. He finally titled his head and said, “I think you have given me an idea. I might need your help.”
Lizzie clasped her hands together. “Good. I needed a new project.”
*
On Christmas Eve, Ben took Jed back to the Old Mill, leading him through the woods as snow began to fall. It was light, not likely to stick to the roads or last if the sun shone at all the next day, but it was giving the ground and trees a light covering, making the woods look almost ethereal.
“Wow,” Jed breathed quietly, looking around the Mill when they stepped into the clearing. Someone had fixed it with fairy lights all around and some evergreen trimmings. It was the perfect setting for Ben to give Jed his gift.
“I wanted to talk to you about something.” He cleared his throat, trying not to appear as nervous as he felt. “I’ve loved traveling with you, and part of me wishes we could do it forever. But I think we should talk about what comes next.”
The joy dropped off Jed’s face. “What’s that supposed to mean?”
“I don’t mean that anything’s wrong, I promise,” Ben assured him, stepping forward to take Jed’s hands in his. “All that I’m trying to say is that being here, at your old home, has made me realize that it might be time for us to make a home of our own.” He let go of one hand to get the papers he’d put in his pocket and held them out to Jed. “I found an apartment in a town about twenty minutes away. Well, Lizzie found it, I told her what I was looking for. It’s in a townhouse with a parking lot in the back where we can keep the RV, and there’s a backyard too. It’s closer to Whitmore College, if you decided you wanted to take a few classes, but you could also come here and visit the pack regularly. We can tour it on Monday.”
Jed took the lease papers with fingers that trembling slightly. “Are you sure?”
“If it’s what you want, then yes, I am.” An offering of love and shelter from a god to a mortal. Not the usual way of things; his father would die all over again if he could see this. That only made Ben more certain.
“I love it,” Jed said enthusiastically, looking at the printed out pictures Lizzie had stapled to the back. She insisted he could show them to Jed on his phone, but it felt better to have something physical to give him. “Are you sure those prices are right, though? It seems kinda cheap for a place like this.”
“It was three hundred more a month, but then Lizzie called the man who is renting it and he agreed to lower the price.”
“Makes sense.” Jed folded up the papers, looking sheepish. “It’s kinda funny though, I’m not sure you’ll like my present for you now.”
“Of course I will.”
“It’s sorta the opposite of this, though. Cleo and Hope helped me make you a fake passport. I’ve been saving up a little on the side, and with the frequent flyer miles that Headmaster Forbes is letting us use, we can take our first trip outside the USA. I was thinking Georgia, maybe?” He added, eyes flicking up to Ben’s nervously.
In answer, Ben cradled Jed’s face and kissed him gently, and when he pulled back he hoped Jed could see how much the idea meant to him. “You want to see my homeland?”
“You want to make a new home with me?” Jed asked in return, eyes filled with wonder.
“More than anything. Although, I think by next summer I could be ready for another adventure with you. Georgia might be a good place to start.”
Jed smiling at him, bright and happy, snowflakes in his hair and on his eyelashes, was such a beautiful sight that Ben could only take it for a few moments before closing the small distance between them again, kissing his love in the falling snow.
*
For the first time ever, Lizzie was having trouble enjoying Christmas. Not only was it weird without Josie, but felt like there was this weight in her stomach as she watched the Squad open their presents. Jed got Finch fingerless boxing gloves and she gave him a pair of dumbbells with wolf stickers on either end. Cleo gave Jed a charm for protection in his travels, and Lizzie caught him looking at the pile he made of their gifts along with a book of myths Ben had given him. Even if things didn’t work out with Jen, she found herself glad she’d been able to be a part of his Christmas.
Her own pile was significantly larger, including a beautiful sweater from Hope and a figurine of some comic book character that MG said she reminded him of, which might mean he was no longer smarting from their breakup. Or maybe it was a sign he still was, she’d have to look up who the character was later. Fortunately, he took off with Kaleb and Cleo early so they could make their flight to Atlanta. She couldn’t tell if he noticed her eyes constantly darting over to Jen, but she was relieved not to have to worry about it anymore on top of everything else.
The party had more or less broken up and most of the Squad had gone to celebrate their respective Christmases - Hope was meeting her Aunt Rebekah and Uncle Marcel for dinner, and Ben and Jed had snuck off to be alone together, of course - leaving Jen and Finch chatting animatedly when Lizzie made her excuses to go get Jen’s present together.
By the time she came back, Jen was bundled up in an enormous flannel jacket and wrapping a too big scarf around her neck, looking small and adorable and not like a mighty god who could make tribrid killing weapons and fly. Which made Lizzie hope that her gift might not be too ridiculous after all.
“Going so soon?”
Jen turned to her and the corners of her eyes crinkled happily. “Yeah, I don’t think me and Ben are ready for extended family time yet. Plus he and lover boy already took off, so.”
“Well, before you leave, I wanted to give you something.”
“Really?” Jen took a couple eager steps closer before pulling up abruptly. “Wait, sorry, I didn’t get you anything. Was I supposed to?”
“No, it’s okay, this isn’t anything big anyway.” Lizzie straightened up, trying to project more confidence than she felt. “My mom’s favorite holiday is Christmas. Every year - well, every year before she went looking for a way out of the Gemini Curse - she’d make gingerbread cookies and this special hot chocolate with me and Josie. I guess it’s something she did with her mom. She died before I was born, but everyone tells me she was amazing.”
“I’ll bet she was,” Jen said, smiling shyly.
“I know this isn’t exactly the kind of offering you’re used to as a god and everything, but I thought you might like it, so here.” She kind of shoved the tin of cookies and cup of cocoa at Jen, face burning and stomach threatening to drop out through her feet and already wishing this was all over. Was this what most people felt like when they liked somebody? How did anyone deal with it?
Before she could panic even more and take the food back or run away, Jen took a big happy bite of cookie, and her eyes lit up. “Holy crap, dude, this is so good. You made this?”
“I did. It’s pretty much the only baked good I can make on my own, but I do rock at gingerbread cookies.”
Jen sipped at the hot chocolate. “This is an excellent offering, Lizzie.”
“Present, actually, but … thank you.”
Jen looked up at her, her gaze knowing in a way that made Lizzie feel good and nervous at the same time. “The thing is, when you give a god an offering, sometimes you win their favor.”
“What do you mean …”
Before she could finish her question, Jen darted forward and pressed a quick kiss to Lizzie’s lips. She backed off just as fast and shuffled her feet. “Was that okay?”
“Yeah, that was okay,” Lizzie said, a little breathless, still catching up to what had just happened. Then she started to grin. “But I’ll bet we can make it even better.”
When she kissed Jen, bending down as Jen bounced up on her toes, the electricity and warmth she felt, the taste of gingerbread and chocolate in Jen’s mouth, was worth all the agonizing it had taken to get there. Even if doing so made Jen drop her cookies. She could make more, maybe with Jen this time. They were going to have a great Christmas.
*
As they descended the stairs, intending to go out to the RV for the night, Jed pulled up short, causing Ben to run into the back of him, looking at something by the front door. “Is that your sister making out with someone? Wait, is that Lizzie?”
“I assume so,” Ben replied, pointedly not looking. “It seems her offering was accepted.”
“You knew about this? What offering? Wait, does this make me and Lizzie in-laws or something?”
Ben was more interested in the potential of that comment than he was comfortable examining at the moment. Instead he threw an arm around Jed’s back and pulled him back around the staircase and into an empty corner, changing the subject while his boyfriend was distracted. “Did you have a good Christmas?”
“The best one yet,” Jed answered honestly, smile bright enough to light the room on its own.
“Mine too,” Ben teased, leaning in to capture Jed’s laughter with a kiss. He didn’t know much about this holiday yet, but so far he was in favor of it.

dreams in the distance
I watch this show so sporadically I can never be accused of being faithful to canon lol also im just trying to keep my mind distracted and this is what came of it.
Sometimes, when the world is quiet and her father’s wrath has been spent, Jen dreams of Ben.
She dreams of soft eyes and kind smiles, of a little boy so full of love and trust it almost hurt to see. She dreams of his first steps, of small hands, of little feet scrambling after her in delight.
She dreams of happiness. Or whatever passed for it back then.
She doesn’t think she hates him, even now. She doesn’t think she could even if she tried. He is too deeply ingrained in her soul, a piece of a heart she locked away so long ago. But she is angry, okay, so damn angry and there’s nothing she can do about it because her father is a God and her world has always been small.
Sometimes, she dreams of Lizzie.
She doesn’t know why, just that she does. They’re memories but not quite. Snippets of a conversation, a glimpse of her smile, the shine of golden hair under fading sunlight.
But sometimes they’re of moments that never were. She sees a woman who shares Lizzie’s smile, a girl with dark hair and a soft, pouty smile and she sees the ocean. They’re there together, her and Lizzie, and they’re laughing - about what, Jen doesn’t know, but she is happy in a way she hasn’t been in such a long time.
It feels precious, this dream. Precious and so real sometimes it hurts when she wakes up.

The Story of My Life - Legacies x Noralise!Daughter!Reader
I Can't Be the One to Stop You
B/m/n = biological mother’s name
A/n: it has begun...
"What the shit is going on, why did you shove Lizzie in that-" You were cut off as Hope put her hand over your mouth.
"Vardemus, where is he?"
"Whitmore College. I can take us." You replied, shoving Hope's hand away, earning a smirk from her before Hope walked out, taking the coffin that she'd shoved Lizzie in with her.
"What in the-" "Lizzie and Y/n could siphon Hope. She's afraid, even with with her humanity off." Mary-Louise and Nora whispered to themselves, pausing as they spotted B/m/n trying to get a closer look at the coffin.
///
"To think, supernatural forces, or alien life do not exist in some form or fashion is both short-sighted and deeply narcissistic. Does anyone believe us things are possible? Or are all taking this class simply to mock me?" Professor Vardemus asked, turning his back to face the projected screen of the Pyramids of Giza.
"We believe."
Vardemus froze as he heard Hope's voice, turning on his heel to spot you and Hope sat at desks in his class.
"Yes. I am quite certain you do." Vardemus replied, as Hope stood up, not even sparing you a glance as you sighed, swearing under your breath before standing up too.
Mary-Lou and Nora smiled at each other as they watched your reluctance to stand up in front of a class of people.
///
"This is astounding!" Vardemous exclaimed as he began to study the creepy coffin with some piece of tech.
"Does that mean you know what it is?" Hope tilted her head to the side, bored and waiting.
"Not exactly, but certain elements. This writing for example, not visible to the naked eye, but scrawled in blood in multiple languages, speaking of the gods! Y/n, you may be familiar, but this is the gods of a dozen different cultures, maybe more! Oren included!" Vardemus exclaimed as Hope huffed.
"Look, I know that you're supposed to be the expert, but gods don't exist. Also, who the hell is Oren?" Hope asked, glancing at you as you shivered.
"Malivore is supposed to have erased history of the gods, but Vardemus had some scrolls, including a godly angel, Oren... turns out, he's my father. Every time I die, or most of the time, he talks to me, gives me advice before I revive. He talks about you a lot actually." You replied, folding your arms as Hope quirked a brow.
"Oren?" "He talks about Hope a lot, there's something about the Tribrid, isn't there?" Our daughter being in love with her is a prime example." Your mothers bickered between each other.
"Nor do vampires, Hope, at least as far as most people are concerned. Y/n, judging from the quartz halo, I'd say you achieved your title?" Vardemus asked, a knowing look in his eye as you shuffled slightly.
"Angel of humanity, emotions technically. Anyway, anything else on the creepy coffin?" You asked, letting out a groan as Vardemus started a lecture.
"Angel of humanity? What the bloody hell is that supposed to mean?" "It means Hope and Y/n are even more tangled together than before." B/m/n replied, answering Nora's question.
"Myths, are but one discovery away from becoming our reality."
"Did that guy you quoted say that too?" Hope snarked, stepping closer as Vardemus removed his glasses.
"No, I did. At first glance, I assumed this was a forgery, but primary analysis shows it is ancient. Now I have to run more tests to define it's purpose and origin, but out of curiosity, why did the two of you bring this to me, instead of your headmaster?" Vardemus asked, keeping his face stoic as you gave him a panicked look.
"Oh, Doctor Saltzman and I had a fight, so I'm taking the semester off."
"More like beat him into a coma, but he could be dead for all we know." "He better not come here, or we'll pull out his vocal cords and play pin the tail on the headmaster." Nora threatened, her hands clenched as Mary-Lou nodded in agreement.
"Not like we're both supposed to be graduating or graduated soon, but I suppose we can blame the monster problem for that." You interjected, biting your lip as Hope looked at you.
"Did she ever pick a college?" B/m/n asked, but Mary-Lou shook her head, "Not that I know of, she was too distracted by everything with Hope."
///
"Trust me, it would be way more miraculous if Lizzie Saltzman were dead." Hope snarked, snatching the thermal camera from Vardemus as you moved to the other side of the coffin.
"Hope, what's happened to you?" Vardemus frowned, turning to you as your hand lingered over the latch to remove the lid.
"You're supposed to be so brilliant, you tell me." Hope replied, her eyes glowing yellow as the black veins protruded from under her eyes, gaze shifting to you as you froze, face heating up.
"Is she-" "Yes." "She finds that attractive?" "Can we stop talking about this please?" Your mothers grimaced, unsure of how they felt about all of this.
///
You zoned out as Hope began to talk about what she had done.
"Able to siphon an endless amount of magic, which sounds like a lot, so, I did a sleep spell on her, and am waiting for her to starve, if my sweet Angel would stop trying to release her when she thinks I'm not looking." Hope turned her head to you, glaring as you stared at her defiantly.
"Endless amount of magic... there's a limit to what we can siphon, like the Phoenix stone."
"Which exploded in your mothers' faces, I remember." Hope snarked, pausing as your wings decloaked, stretching out to make you seem more threatening as you loomed over her.
"You don't get to talk about my mothers that way."
Nora smirked deviously whilst Mary-Lou felt pride bubble within her at your reaction to Hope trash-talking them.
///
You paused as Hope was pulled into a Chambre de Chasse after opening the jar Vardemus gave her.
"She threaten to kill you in there?" You asked as Vardemus returned, walking over to the coffin.
"Of course, as expected from someone without their humanity, you however, Y/n, are an engima, as the angel of humanity, I do not understand why you stand with her." Vardemus replied, removing something from his pocket as you sighed.
"She calls me the thorn in her side, but, then she kissed me and said she wanted to, and I've been in love with her for a while now and apparently I can't die permanently, unless Hope does- ouch!" You winced, feeling the needle in your neck before your eyes fluttered shut.
"I apologise Y/n, but your attempts to be the Angel on the Tribrid's shoulders are simply not enough right now." Vardemus whispered as he rested your body on the ground.
"What did he dose her with?" "I have no idea, but she's out cold." B/m/n replied, kneeling down to listen to your breathing.
///
"Last night you said monsters are the least of our problems." Jed replied, moving to sit down as Ben sighed.
"Because they are nothing compared to Gods."
///
You were unconscious as Lizzie completed her transition, running into a door in the process and discovered her fangs, deciding then, it was time to kill Hope.
Lizzie paused as she spotted your sleeping form, hesitation washing over her as she remembered what you said.
Killing Hope would kill you.
So she decided to confront Hope in the Chambre de Chasse first.
"Do you think she cares she could kill Y/n too?" "It depends on how far she thinks she needs to go." Your mothers concluded as they watched Lizzie glance down at you.
///
"It's a big tree, Hope. I made more than one stake, and Y/n's not awake to save you."
Klaus' key didn't work. Nor Landon's. Or your key, surprisingly. Only after Lizzie had told Hope to get to the root of her problem, did she find the correct key.
///
"I need your help, because as much as I want to kill Hope Mikaelson. I can't."
"See, what I mean, I literally can't kill her, it's not even guilt over potentially killing Y/n!" Lizzie exclaimed, leaving Vardemus to test his theory.
"It's bad enough I can't kill her, now I'm protecting her!" Lizzie yelled after catching what Vardemus threw at Hope's body.
"I think it's finally time you tell me how exactly is it you became a vampire." Vardemus stated, raising an eyebrow as Hope woke up, hearing a gagging noise coming from behind Hope.
"What the-"
"Intriguing!" Vardemus exclaimed, noticing the liquid on the floor you'd thrown up, "your body rejected the serum, and instead of metabolising it, you woke up and emesis occurred."
"You mean I threw it up. That was disgusting." You replied, wiping your mouth on your sleeve, "now what the hell is going on?"
"Is that an angel quality or?" Mary-Lou turned to B/m/n, frowning as B/m/n shrugged, muttering that Oren rejected serums and poisons differently.
///
"Technically, i'm a heretic, the bibrid, to your tribrid-"
"Lizzie, the vampire-witch hybrids were part of a coven called the Heretic Coven, including my mothers, and you're not the only hybrid here, seems like we're starting to make girlband." You interrupted, removing the red oak pencil from Hope's hand without difficulty, as Hope glared at you.
"A history lesson as she disarms the Tribrid without even flinching." Nora hummed in amusement.
"Incendia."
"Fucking hell, L!" You shouted as the pencil turned to dust in your hand.
"Do you have a pencil I can borrow?" Hope turned to Vardemus, who sighed.
"Hope, Elizabeth can do you no harm. In fact, I'd be willing to wager, she'll do anything you say."
"Oh, please tell me you're kidding, it's one of those?" You asked, giving Vardemus a desperate look as he nodded.
"L, who's blood did you drink before you died?" You turned your head to face Lizzie.
"Beats me! Whatever vampire donated their blood to the school's first aid kits. What is happening?" Lizzie asked, her voice getting louder with her frustration.
"It was my blood, which I'm guessing means you're sired to me." Hope concluded.
"The sirebond. Of course." Mary-Lou grumbled to herself, confusing B/m/n as Nora folded her arms and continued to watch.
///
You frowned as Lizzie hopped by you on one leg, exclaiming that the stoner chick was gone, even though she was compelled.
"You don't think-" You began, looking at Vardemus.
"Y/n, it seems you have a relative on your father's side." Vardemus replied, Lizzie and Hope turning to look at you in confusion.
"Long story." You deadpanned, teleporting away as Hope knelt down to pick up Jen's beanie.
"Did you know?" "Angelo never talked about any, he just said the ring was to be Y/n's, after me." "How much talking did you and Oren do exactly?" Nora and Mary-Lou asked, gaining glares from B/m/n.
///
"Hey, we need to talk!" You exclaimed, spotting the stoner chick trying to shove the coffin into the back of her truck.
"Look, it's a long story, man-"
"My father is Oren!"
"You're Oren's kid?" Jen rubbed the back of her neck, not believing you until you uncloaked your wings.
"Okay, cuz, we'll talk another time." Jen replied, her eyes drifting to Hope approaching behind you.
"Jen. Oren. Who comes up with these names? Do you really believe those are the names of Gods?" "Their true names were most likely lost to history, or cannot be pronounced by mortals." Nora elaborated, smiling as Mary-Lou nodded, leaning close so their foreheads touched.
"Care to explain why my locator spell didn't work on you? Had to follow your scent." Hope asked, holding up Jen's beanie.
"She's a God, like my father." You deadpanned, rolling your eyes as Hope and Jen sassed each other.
"I'm a pacifist, so I don't really want to hurt either of you."
"Don't worry, you won't." Hope replied, before her face dropped as Jen picked up the 5000 ton coffin and threw it like a baseball at Hope.
"Sorry, tiny angry dude, and uncle Oren's kid, but you don't want to know the things that you think you do." Jen replied as Hope got up, ouching and saying she really did.
"If that hurt Hope, what are the odds that Gods can kill the Tribrid?" The question went unanswered.
Jen sighed, picking up a piece of the coffin and raising it to stab Hope, but two hands grabbed her, the familar red glow of siphoning leaving Jen to fall to her knees as you and Lizzie took action.
"Now she fights?" "She was going to hurt Hope." "Of course she fights now." Your mothers agreed amongst each other.
"Hey, bitch." Lizzie smiled, whilst Jen got up from the floor.
"Whatever you two are, since you're definitely an angel, cuz, I want no part of it." Jen declared, as Hope replied that it wasn't an option.
"What the bloody hell does 'cuz' mean?" Mary-Lou asked, frowning as B/m/n sighed, "slang for cousin."
"Well, then it's time to get high." Jen replied, jumping into the air to fly away, without wings.
"Without wings... Oren wasn't the only God." B/m/n whispered to herself.
"Well, you don't see that every day! What the hell is she?" Lizzie asked, looking at Hope, who stared at you.
"My paternal cousin, apparently." You deadpanned before Hope sighed.
"If I had to guess, a God."
///
Sitting on the ground of the carpark, you sighed as Hope declared she needed Lizzie's help against the gods.
"More like a canary in the coal mine! Going after Gods and bitchy vampires? Hard pass, take Y/n! She's literally an Angel demigod witch thing!" Lizzie replied, but Hope glared at her, and the idea.
"Or are you sure your emotions are completely gone, because you're protecting Y/n-"
Nora, Mary-Lou and B/m/n exchanged wondering glances as Lizzie pointed out the obvious.
"You're sirebonded to me, and Y/n loves me, you're both coming with." Hope declared, forcing Lizzie to astral project to MG and lie about where she was going.
"Get over it, this could be the beginning of a beautiful, mutually beneficial girlband." Hope smirked, using codependency as her bargainning chip to get Lizzie to agree.
"Great, you drive whilst Y/n and I nap." Hope replied, throwing the keys at Lizzie before Hope's hand hovered over the small of your back, walking you towards Jen's truck. Your body betrayed you as you leaned into Hope's warmth, falling asleep rather quickly, Hope's arm around your shoulder as her head rested near your neck, almost like a warning.
Sleep or get bitten.
