"That! The kiss- we didn't discuss that," she murmured, dabbing delicately at the corners of her mouth with her napkin.

"Merely playing the part, my dear," Red responded, and she snuck a glance at him, confirming that he was indeed wearing a very smug look.

"Well we don't have to play it so dramatically," she emphasized.

hey y'all. i'm just sitting down to type this out. it's something of a rant, i guess. i just have mixed feelings about writing for lizzington right now & i'm trying to organize them via blog post... here's the thing: i always want to write for lizzington & i've had tons of fic plans for a while... but then everything went down the crapper & i accidentally wrote myself into a pretty perfect ending with my last series. and while i absolutely could write more, i guess i just wonder if anyone is still around to read. bc while sharing is one of the best parts of fandom & fic, & i consider even one reader to be worth it, AND i know i should also be able to write for myself maybe even as practice for an original book someday LOL yea right, i can't help feeling sometimes that it's all a little redundant to continue. even tho the show will technically continue for season 10 (lmfao) i certainly will not be watching & the show is definitely over for me & has been since season 8 ended. i know a fandom community & activity can continue long after the source material has wrapped, so there's nothing inherently wrong with continuing to post, but i'm still so sad about how things ended, that our passionate little corner of fandom was so unceremoniously, cruelly ended & things have just fizzled out from there. it seems like almost all our amazing writers & lovely community members have moved on to bigger & better things (which i fully support!!) but i miss them all so much & i'm still so sad about it all. everything about the unexpected end was - & continues to be - so unfair. while i love the hobby of writing & i can't imagine writing for anything but lizzington & i do think i'll need the outlet in the coming months of my Real Life, it doesn't feel the same & i'm sad about it. so idk, i guess i'm just vomit-typing these feelings to see if anyone is still out there & feels the same way & will be around to read if i continue to post. and i probably will regardless, or at least i'll try to, (i don’t mean this to be some kind of dramatic fic-writing retirement post or something lol & i certainly don’t want to upset or alarm anyone) but i just miss my lizzington peeps... i wish i had the reach & coordination & confidence to organize some sort of reunion or fic fest or rewatch - if only out of spite lmfao - but i literally have no idea where to start with something like that. anyway, i love & miss you guys a lot. and just... let me know if you're still out there. cause i am. much love always ❤️

OH! btw, here's my ao3 wrapped!

Granted, early in the year I hadn't opened my ao3 account yet (which would probably be a lot of Lizzington + my Kdrama ships.)

These are my stats for the 2nd half of the year then:

Ship of the Year goes to Namor and Shuri. I also hoarded too many pictures of theirs, so I can confirm they're my ship of the year.

I'm also sure that I've finished all the currently completed fics in the Namuri tags... I'm gonna read more today too...

Saw this from @talldecafcappuccino a while back and saved it for later, mucho life happened and I forgot about it, then just found it again in my drafts and thought “hey, it’s been a long time since I’ve done a Tumblr q&a post. Why not.”

1. How many works do you have on Ao3?

2. What’s your current Ao3 word count?

3. How many fandoms have you written for and what are they?

On Ao3, 7 - but I can think of 3 more off the top of my head that never saw the light of the Internet. A handful are just one-offs, too. But the full list I can think of, most-prolific to least, is: Agents of SHIELD, Buffy, The Blacklist, Harry Potter, The Man in the High Castle, Longmire, CSI, MCU, Ted Lasso.

4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?

GH-325 (Agents of SHIELD) - my first baby! I hadn’t finished, due to show circumstances and becoming a bit disillusioned to writing for it (the show, not the ship), but I refuse to give it up. It’s still a wip, just in long hiatus. Too many people have supported this one over the years for me to give it up… despite the apologetically loooong hiatus.

I Need A Bad Idea (BtVS) - my true baby; this fic is a beast. It’s ridiculous. When I first surpassed GH-325 word count numbers I wondered what the hell I was doing - now well beyond, I just roll with the chaos. I deeply appreciate the love on this one because I’d still be doing this nonsense even without it - so it’s very encouraging to have it. ❤️

Sweet Nothings (The Blacklist) - to be honest, I’m just now discovering this is my #3 kudos’d fic. A pleasant surprise! This one was pure fun to write, and I’m more than pleased to give Lizzington shippers something positive to indulge in, considering… everything.

A Cover Is Not The Book (BtVS) - one of my earlier BG fics. A fully light-hearted story which I know can be rare for these two haha.

Secrets and Surprises (Agents of SHIELD/MCU) - my indulgent attempt at writing a Tony Stark-Daisy Johnson friendship - FUN. Also, of course, Lola is a main feature. 😍🚘

5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not.

I try to! Even if it’s just a thank you - I really do appreciate every single comment on a story and I like to try and show that. Sometimes I accidentally miss some, but yeah usually I do my best to respond.

6. What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?

I don’t do angst very well. I’ve been told otherwise (😅) but I’m just a sucker for my happy (or at least hopeful) endings. Two of my Buffy fics, Shrike and Beloved, are pretty angsty UNTIL the end… lol.

7. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?

Not as a habit. Technically a few of my AoS fics could count as crossovers, even though I’m firmly of the belief that SHIELD *is* just as canon as the rest of the MCU (Or it was??? I lost track of the plot after season 6.) A number of years ago I wrote a Buffy/MCU crossover fic that just makes me laugh now… it’s a little nuts, as it spawned from a weird dream I had haha. It was actually also my first Ao3 posting for my beloved ship…

8. Have you ever received hate on a fic?

Oh yes. The most hateful comments tend to spawn elsewhere, but I’ve had two or three silly-gooses forget that they have a ‘back’ button on their Ao3 browser. 99.9% of the time Ao3 is a lovely community though. But I also tend to live in smaller corners of fandoms, we keep to ourselves. 🤙

9. Do you write smut?

Does one make lemonade out of lemons? 🤣 🍋🍋🍋

10. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Not that I know of.

11. Have you ever co-written a fic before?

Yessss - Lemon Giles! I am deeply proud of this collab. It was one of the most magical writing experiences of my life. Two people, a shared Google doc, opposite time zones and a chaotic level of shippy feels 😂 It was so much fun.

12. What’s your all time favourite ship?

Oof magoof. This is a tough one. My knee-jerk reaction is to go BG, as that’s definitely been the most affecting ship in my life (as far as real-life friendships and relationships made and heroes met and goals inspired etc). But Grissom-Sara from CSI: Las Vegas has been close to my heart for an even longer time. I also deeply adore Longmire-Vic… it’s not often a tv show follows the books (sort of), and/or canonizes your otp. At least, not when it’s any of *my* otps hahaha.

13. What was the first fandom you wrote for?

If my memory serves, I first wrote for CSI, but I first posted online for Harry Potter. On Ao3 specifically, my first posted fic was for Agents of SHIELD.

14. What’s your favourite fic you’ve written?

Oh dang it, I cannot pick one answer here. I have different reasons for favourites: “Shrike”, because a friend and I actually had that one printed and bound (for funsies and a gift to a fellow friend, not for dough) and my copy ended up read and signed by someone I adore. The Infinite, because Coulson-Mace was a ship fandom of like, five (bless you), and I’ve never felt Mama-Bear about a ship before, but those boys are just… so much to me. Plus, working on that story had helped me mourn a sudden real-life death of someone close to me. “I Need A Bad Idea” is my favourite in regards to the amount of work I put into that one. It’s so satisfying when all the research and brainstorms and notes come together into a ready-to-post chapter.

Why does Red need to wear like 1000 layers of suiting at all times? Wouldn't Lizzie go insane wondering what it would be like to just... undo the layers one by one?

so, this is a pretty random question, but I just now fell into TBL fandom completely after having watched it for a while and finally having gotten up to the end of season 8 (😭) and I ship Lizzington so badly!

but, anyways, my question is, is there even a fandom for Lizzington specifically even more? I was thinking of writing a fanfic for it—bc the show had SO MUCH wasted potential—but besides your blog and maybe one or two others, I haven’t seen anything. And honestly, with no encouragement, I‘m not motivated to write, you know?

To answer your question, I have absolutely no idea if there is an active "fandom" still intact... I would hope so... but I haven't posted anything lizzington in a long time either so... I just really don't know?

One thing for sure: I will ALWAYS be a lizzington fan/shipper/whatever. I'm just not a fan of the show (more specifically, of what the show has become *shudders violently and loudly dry heaves*)

As for fic - please always feel free to write! I'm nearly 100% certain that there are still quite a few lizzington shippers who continue to read fics (I do from time to time as well, and I'm thinking of jumping back in like I used to (AKA 10000000% obsessed and addicted and checking AO3 constantly) because I feel like I'll soon need the comfort that only lizzington fics are able to provide)

I hope you're doing well too! I'm always glad to hear of new lizzington shippers!

Somehow, even though I haven't watched in years - and am 0% tempted to tonight - I've still got this tiny sliver of anxiety about the ending of The Blacklist. Is that crazy? It's like I know they can't possibly wrap up the story in a way I'll be happy or satisfied with (and after the 8th season I mostly gave up caring about what happens in "canon")...and yet I'm sure when I hear about what happened in the finale it's going to feel like one last, poorly written gut punch.

How are you feeling about tonight?

Hiya, anon ❤️ Ugh, can I just say that you summed up my tangle of feelings absolutely perfectly? 🥺 More specifically, no, that is not crazy at all. I am in the same place as you with not caring about any of it anymore - not since 8.22 ripped my fucking heart out - & I literally can't think of anything I'd like to do less than watch the series finale. But even in the years since 8.22, there was still that awareness that the show was still out there somewhere, even if I only heard drips & drabs, & I scoffed at it all, & I didn't give a tiny rat's ass what happened. And while that remains true, the fact that it's OFFICIALLY ending (despite the fact that it ended for us two years ago) is... a little sobering. For me, I think it's a reminder of the pain & grief of The Terrible Awful™️ 😓

Also, yes, anon, I completely understand the sliver of anxiety & dread... I felt the same thing when I heard that they were finally blessedly cancelled & again when I realized the last ep was coming up... I can only speak for myself, but I think it's bc I still care at least a little about Red &, deep down, I still want a happy ending for him, even though I fully believe he can't have one without Liz. But I have zero faith in TPTB & I'm sure they will make it a nebulous, "cool" ending with no real answers, like always, or they'll confirm godforsaken R*darina, or they'll just kill off Red because they're incapable of writing anything else. And I'm sure every other aspect of it will be disappointing, like Ressler being the hero or something (LMFAO) & it will be awful all around. I have no other expectations & I suppose I have to either accept it and/or ignore whatever happens AND/OR consider it all a crap AU & Lizzington as our canon. But the way you describe it, "one last, poorly written gut punch", perfectly describes how I feel. I tell myself that none of it matters anymore - it's not like we're getting a Lizzington ending lolz - but I think I'm just afraid of being hurt again bc, for all my posturing, I know TPTB still have the power to do that, simply bc I still care just a tiny bit. Despite all the heartbreak I've already felt... a little remains of the show, the characters, & my heart for them to destroy 💔

Idk if that made any sense at all, anon, but I hope I communicated at least 3 things: 1) you're not alone in the way you feel, 2) the ending will probably hurt & ache & betray in just the way we're afraid of, & 3) we simply have to deal with the residual hurt, know that TPTB failed us & it's not our fault, &... cherish what we had by holding our Lizzington AU close to our hearts & keeping them alive through fanfic... at least, that's what I plan on doing. So, feel free to drop another ask if you want to talk more, anon, I would certainly love to commiserate & work through our feelings together tbh, & btw I'm very flattered you came to my ask box with this & wanted to know how I feel, thank you for being so sweet.
