The Baroness held out the talisman, and Lloyd slightly frowned when he took it. It was a teddy bear, too cute and chubby to call a talisman. Not only that, the color was pink, the pastel shade that teenage girls loved.

11. What's your favorite bit of lore?

There's honestly a lot of subtle aspects of snippets in item descriptions that I enjoy, so I WOULD say everything but looks like I gotta pick favorites...

I'm going to say I have 2 faves, the first being the Lloyd's talisman Dark Souls 1 item description and the details of the crashed carriages in Yharnam. I pick Lloyd's talisman because I find the panic of the public so disastrous that they had to purge undead and those afflicted with the darksign very entertaining, as if like a witch trail of some sort. It's fun to image faves being put in such a tense situation where they try to cover up their undead curse so that they don't get slaughtered, and it also gives major history to Thorolund and its prestigious city. Underrated, in my opinion, but spreading the lore is what I'm here for heheh..

The second, of Yharnam's carriages, I chose because I actually didn't expect it at all. I forgot who made the massive loredump about the carriages being crashed at the sides a hopeless sign that those who tried to flee Yharnam were ultimately swallowed or killed before they could, implying that there's actually dead bodies and dead hopes inside the carts. I at first just thought it was aesthetic to see the crashed carts like Victorian London would have, but now with the knowledge it has such deeper symbolism, I am GREATLY entertained by devastation. Just imagining some parent turning into a werewolf on their family out of nowhere and now prowling around their family's carriage after eating them is just so, so spooky. Gilbert, kinda, but Gilbert hasn't done too much harm yet.

14. What game introduced you to the series?

Believe it or not, Elden Ring. My whole story was being in a depressive downstate after getting my hyperfix abruptly destroyed by the previous community, and I saw a lot of my other friends had bought Elden Ring so I decided to give it a quick shot. Turns out soulsborne wasn't too far from my bullet hell, roguelike, metroidvania difficult preference, so I spent a crazy amount of hours on it fast 💀. That, and I thought Patches was a cute cat name and he became my fave so heheho yes I am Elden Ringer!

28. What is your favorite variation of Patches?

The Patchesenthusiast was too stunned to speak!

However, I have to say Unbreakable was my favorite Patches. It gave a lot of depth to him that really snapped him out of the bastard continuity, and his significance to Siegward and Greirat's questline was equally as heartbreaking on both ends (in my respectful opinion). Lapp also gave insight to his real, hidden spirit, and was a perfect representation of a unique situation where Patches would have to act on dire paranoia, which once again, I LOVE-

back to plot. this dude, Kenneth, teleports in and starts rambling about false gods, Shin Megami Tensei style. he also talks about how much he loves to watch people suffer, which I guess is just for the extra evil bonus points. then he teleports away. rude

so! there's two characters that have a chance of showing up. on this map, you get Harken if you don't kill two promoted enemies before turn 10, and Karel if you do. I went for Harken here, but will get Karel on my other file for completion's sake

you can recruit him with Eliwood, Hector, Oswin, Marcus, Lowen, or Isadora.

100% sincerity: this is an excellent first impression. it's not over-explained. you can infer what the unaddressed commands and usage of the first-person plural mean easily, and it adds that extra punch to his characterization. it's just a really good showing of who Harken is as a character. anyway, enough of me gushing

100% sincerity again: this recruitment is also excellent. quickly establishes Harken and Isadora's relationship. him vanishing after realizing it's her is top-notch non-verbal characterization. Isadora's appeal to his sense of duty fails not because he's lost it or found it broken, but because he honestly feels that his duty is best served by dying, which is so interestingly fucked up. she has to appeal to his love for her. Isadora is really aggressive because she's trying to get him to not roll over and die. he even couches his eventual acceptance in terms of his lack of concern for his life.

anyway! newly promoted Heath putting in work. also he has swords now. Wyvern Lord go brrrrr

Hello everybody, today we will be exploring the second area of the game called "Firelink Shrine", I will be doing a walkthrough of this place, which means I'll show you location of: all items, NPCs and (if they are any) bosses, for the last one I will be also doing a separate guide for each boss that I will put both in the walkthrough for the area the boss is in and in a post that I will turn into a guide for every boss, which I will be updating as we progress through the game.

So now lets begin.

Right after you exit the bonfire you can see someone sitting next to the wall, this individual is Crestfallen Warrior, and he will not only mock you but will also give you a hint to what you have to do. 

Well, what do you have to do? It's very simple really, you have ring two bells, one in church and one in something called Blighttown, sounds easy enough.

 Now turn around and you will see the well with a corpse holding three Humanities.

Then if you turn left you will see a small doorway and behind it three new paths.

If you go to path to the right you will find yourself in a small hallway, go straight and you will find a corpse with six firebombs.

If you go to the path in the middle, first you'll see a message that tells you that you can actually do gestures in this game, and the we will meet second NPC of Firelink Shrine, Petrus of Thoruruland... Thoroululand? Thorolund, YES! That's it! Petrus of Thorolund. When you talk to him, he will nicely ask you to keep your distance from him, if you talk to him again he will apologize and give you copper coin in apology, after you talk to him for third time he will propose to teach you miracles. If you say yes to his offer he will ask you to join his covenant which is a COVENANT OF GODS, say yes and he will officially be your first shopkeeper of the game. Now you will be able to buy miracles and talismans from him.

Now if you look to your right you will see stairs, go to the top of them and you will find another corpse holding Soul of a Lost undead.

Now go down a little and to your right you will see two doorways and behind them an empty shaft, drop down and you will land safely. 

Now walk to the small doorway behind you (or in front depending how you landed) and you walk out to the open space with a few chests.

The first and closest one contains six Homeward Bones which are the items that let you teleport to last bonfire you rested at.

In the chest to the left you will find a talisman and weapon Morning Star. You see why I said cleric is kind of useless?

In the chest that was previously hidden behind wall to your left you will find four Cracked red eye orbs, an online item that lets you invade other people worlds when you're in human form.

The last chest is on a ledge straight from where you dropped from. There you will find four Lloyd's Talismans that are an item that lets you put to sleep a certain enemy (Just so you don't start throwing it at random enemies, the one I'm talking about doesn't shop up until further into the game, I will tell you which one is it when we meet him :) ).

Now you can either drop down to the graveyard and run back to the bonfire while running away from way stronger enemies or just use a Homeward Bone to get their quickly and safely.

And finally the path to the left. 

After you go through the big doorway you'll now be in a giant empty room with one open chest. The way this chest works, is if in some way a key item will be dropped by the player or not picked up, it will respawn in this chest so that you won't get softlocked. 

Go up the stairs to your left and left again around the wall and you will find another Soul of a Lost Undead behind it.

Now go back and go up the stairs to the upper floor. After you go to the other side of it you will find another Soul of a Lost Undead.

And now the graveyard. I hope you spent all of your souls before this, because you might not get them back.

There are six items you can get here but all of them are protected by high level enemies so you'll have to make a run for it. Or if you want to fight with the enemies, use a blunt weapon like morning star that we just picked up, because it stuns the skeletons for a few seconds.

Now for the location for the items

First drop down the ledge to your left and grap the Large Soul of a Lost Undead.

Then run down the stairs in front of you and get Caduceus Round Shield

Go up and right to quickly grab another Large Soul of a Lost Undead

Then go up the hill to your right until you reach the giant tombstone with Winged Spear

Keep going straight 'till the next giant tombstone and grab the Zweihander from there.

Finally run straight to the ledge with corpse on it and pick up the binoculars. Now either bone to the bonfire or try to run back (Unfortunately I died trying to do the second one and lost all my souls, because I got stuck on the tombstone while trying to get them back :,) )

And now the one more thing. Some of you probably already noticed that to the left of Crestfallen Warrior there're stairs. If you go down them you will see an empty area with somebody stuck behind bars. If you try to talk to her you find out she can't speak but you will also get a menu with two options.

Reinforce Estus Flask which you can't do without an item called Firekeepers Soul.

And Talk which you also can't do.

And that would be it for the Firelink walkthrough,

except there's actually a way for you to upgrade your flask now but it might take a few tries and it's not really a part of Firelink, but if you wanna do it follow the text below.

From the Firekeeper (the person behind the bars) go right and you will find another staircase go down and follow the path until you came across a tiny room with an elevator inside.

Go down the elevator, and now you're in New Londo Ruins but don't worry, there won't be any spoilers. We actually can't do much here this early in the game, so let's just get what we came here for and go back. 

Go to the wooden bridge to the left and walk through it, at the end there will be stone platform covered in water that you can stand on but beware, right after you step on it the ghost will appear and right now you can't harm it because you're not cursed nor have a cursed weapon (For curse mechanics see mechanics post). 

Walk past the ghost and behind the wall to your right. 

You should be in some sort of small hallway, from here go straight on thin floor in front of you,

after you get to the end you should see a corpse with an item, pick it up and you just got yourself a Firekeepers soul.

Now just preform a cool bonfire skip.

And you're back at Firelink now.

Now get back to the firekeeper and reinforce your flask.

Now you can see a +1 next to the Estus Flask, this means that it's upgraded to plus one level, which means it restores more health now, neat.

Annon-Guy: Weekly Reminder - Remember Squid Girl? How do you think the 17 Symphonia Characters would like her, especially she she wants to protect the Ocean, loves to eat shrimp, has her tentacle hair and can spit ink and wants to ink-vade mankind for polluting the Ocean. P.S. the Aizawa sister with her, they would like Eiko (brown hair) and Chizuru (blue hair with squinting eyes), but would be terrified of Chizuru's super human strength and her frightening eyes when she opens them.

Not sure of the post script is meant to be a question but I do like the idea of a running gag where everyone's just terrified of Chizuru's tremendous strength and open eyes. She just has the power to inspire fear in the hearts of humans, half elves, and squids. As for Squid girl... Lloyd: Lloyd thinks all sorts of people are cool and appreciates unique talents, so as long as he doesn't see Squid Girl as a legitimate invasion threat, I'm sure he'd be one of her biggest fans.

Colette: Colette inexplicably befriends basically anyone who isn't trying to murder her. And even then, she sometimes befriends people who are trying to kill her. She's just a beacon of friendship. Colette can be good friends with anybody.

Genis: I think Squid girl would be scared of him at first because he cooks lots of fish, probably including squid, but probably after a fumbled attempt to overpower Genis as an attempt to "inkvade the world" because "he's the smallest and scariest so I should get rid of him first, then everyone will be powerless against me!" she'd realize Genis isn't so scary afterall.

Raine: I'm not sure if Raine would be comforted by the idea that there are things like Squid Girl in the ocean who may or may not be a good lifeguard if she ever fell in or if she'd just be even more scared of drowning because not only is the ocean huge and uncaring, but there are intelligent creatures in it that could drag her under. Maybe if Squid Girl is nice to Raine first, she may learn to trust Squid Girl and be more comfortable with the open ocean.

Sheena: Sheena would probably find Squid Girl's ink to be an amazing resource. Not only is it free ink for writing, but I bet it can be useful for replacing her talismans and she could probably use it as a component in things like smoke screens!

Regal: Regal's basically respectful to everyone and very open to altering his business practices if they're shown to be flawed so I'm sure he and Squid Girl could work together to mitigate some of the ocean pollution, plus, they could bond over hair styles.

Presea: Weird girl bonding power. I can't explain it, but Presea and Squid Girl would become best friends.

Zelos: I feel like squid girl would either be terrified of him and his insatiable appetite for seafood (barring octopus and thus probably squid) or if she'd feel a kinship. I bet Zelos would have an aversion to her. The only reason I can imagine hating octopus the way Zelos does is because octopus has a very specific texture, and squid does too. So it's either texture or smell. And I think the visual reminder of Squid Girl's tentacle hair would squick Zelos out majorly.

Kratos: Indifferent but also confused. Kratos has been around for a while and I'm sure he'd be surprised if something like Squid Girl just suddenly crawled out of the oceans because she's not like the sea monsters, even the more human ones like selkies. I don't think Kratos and Squid Girl have any strong reason to like or dislike each other.

Richter: Baffled but intrigued. I'm sure Richter would be curious that intelligent life evolved from the sea in a form that is more human than monster. I think Squid Girl would find him scary though, because he'd be quietly observing her more than actually interacting with her. Not sure he'd like hearing about her "inkvasion" plans. Richter's got enough problems keeping the world intact while trying to get Aster back while coping with the weather and Ratatosk and the demons. Squids taking to land to take over is just one too many things for him to deal with. He's probably the only one taking Squid Girl's threat to invade seriously. "I can appreciate you don't want your home destroyed, but that's no reason to invade our home." I think if they were able to talk to each other, they'd make a sort of semi-incompetent duo fighting to protect the world. After all, no matter how good their plans together might be, they're just two limited individuals, and they'd get hamstrung into cleaning up the messes their ambitions cause because they're really bad at saying no. XD

Emil: Confused but friendly. Emil makes friends with all kinds of monsters, so even if Squid Girl isn't really a monster, he'd be the first to accept a squid-person just like Lloyd.

Marta: Same as Emil. She might be a little protective of Emil at first, but I get the impression that Squid girl isn't looking to date any humans so I'm sure Marta would realize she isn't a rival pretty quickly.

Decus: Perplexed and indifferent. As long as Squid Girl doesn't get in the way of any of his plans for Alice, he won't mind. I wonder if Squid girl has a sensitive nose that the Eau de Seduction would bother her? Maybe it would smell way worse to her? Or maybe she would be one of the few people who wouldn't mind it.

Alice: I think Alice would pity Squid Girl and despise her for her lack of power. Alice knows how difficult it is to be different due to being a half-elf so she'd feel pity and maybe even kinship with Squid Girl, but she'd have no patience for Squid Girl and her powerlessness and inability to follow through with her invasion plan. Richter is a push-over at times, but he still has physical power and tremendous power to manipulate others which I think is why Alice respects him, even if she would otherwise see his softness for Emil as weak. But Squid Girl is pretty incompetent (mostly for comedic value, but the point stands) so Alice would have no patience for that.

Aqua: Instant rivalry which slowly changes to a camaraderie. Aqua's used to being the only magical fish girl so I feel like she'd be jealous if Squid Girl showed up and started doing all sorts of helpful things with her talents. But I'm sure Aqua would quickly realize there's lots she can do that Squid Girl can't do, like shapeshift and control monsters, so I'm sure she'd quickly realize that she's not going to be replaced (especially since I don't think Richter would be interested in Squid Girl, even if he is interested in girls at all) so once Aqua's sure she's not going to be replaced with someone more useful and "cuter" she'd see Squid Girl kind of like a little sibling since they both love the ocean a lot.

Tenebrae: He would make squid puns at Squid Girl constantly. Joke fodder. Other than that, I'm not sure Tenebrae would have a particular attachment or dislike for her. Tenebrae's primary concerns are Emil/Ratatosk, Marta, and the other centurions and monsters. While I'm sure he'd be curious about Squid Girl and her ocean home, he'd mostly only want to hear about all the spooky deep sea trenches where light can't reach.

Mithos: I can only think of a joke interaction which would be something like "Aw fuck, now I gotta think about how to incorporate one more race into the age of lifeless beings." I think they have strong potential to bond over feeling unwanted and trampled over since they'd both be minorities but I also feel like Mithos doesn't particularly care about the ocean. Mithos's main goals are creating a world where he and his sister and other half-elves can live free of discrimination. If he had to dry up the ocean to reach that goal. He would. So I'm not sure if his general disinterest would cause tension between him and Squid Girl.

Ghosts Don't Sleep

a/n; just a little oc x canon drabble ft. morro and yuuki. i suppose you could consider this a slight prequel to this fic, due to its similar nature and content

Morro couldn’t help but to pace back and forth, as if a tiger in a cage. The sun had long since set, and he was wrapped in darkness, save for a small lit candle on his nightstand. “Why should I bother sleeping?” he mumbled to himself. “I’m a ghost. Ghosts don’t need sleep. I should just do something productive. Like… like…” He peeked at his door, then sat on his bed, crossing his arms. “Okay, so I can’t think of anything. Gah, it’s so boring!”

He threw himself on his back, staring at the ceiling. His mind raced. It flashed him back to when he’d been sharing a body with Lloyd. As much as Morro hated Lloyd then, he admittedly liked being around another person. A strange circumstance, one that brought about mixed feelings - mostly negative - but something that left room for desire nonetheless. Being on his own for forty-something years left him a craving for company. He locked his eyes on his door this time. He let out an exasperated sigh. “Fine, I’ll bite.”

He wrapped his pillow into his blanket and threw it onto his shoulder. He exited his room, slinking down the hallway until he reached his destination. A bit hesitant, he knocked on the door. An inviting, sing-song “come in!” ensued.

Swinging the door opened, he began. “Yuuki, shouldn’t you be in bed by now?”

“I oftentimes am a bit of a night owl. Forgive me. But I suppose it worked out, did it not?” Her concentration broke from her nail-clipping, focusing on him instead.

“Can I sleep in here tonight?”

“Of course. Is everything alright?”

“Don’t you worry about me. I’m fine.”

Yuuki gave a slight snicker, and a lighthearted “okay” laced with sarcasm. Morro ignored it, tossing his things onto her bed. “I would like to sleep on that side.” Morro shot her a glare. That made her really giggle. “I am only kidding. Take whatever side pleases you.”

“You’re really getting a kick out of this, huh?”

“Perhaps a little. I cannot help it. I enjoy your company. What made you want a little sleepover?”

It’s better than being alone. Just say that, stupid. Be nice to her. “I just do. Your bed always looked super soft, anyway.”

Yuuki nestled down beside him, pulling her own covers over her. “If your bed is insufficient, we could always-”

“No, no. I just… Look, I don’t wanna keep you up more than you have to be. Can we just sleep? We got another day of looking for your talisman ahead of us.”

“Of course, dear. Goodnight.” Yuuki snuffed the candle on her nightstand before snuggling up under her own blanket.

“Goodnight.” Although it was darker, the moonlight still beamed some illumination into the room. Morro couldn’t help but give a slight smile watching Yuuki drift off.

Maybe helping these guys won’t be so bad… And she’s kinda… cute when she’s asleep like that...

Whumptober Day 17: I did not see that coming

Dirty Secret

668 Words; Lost & Found AU, maybe non-canon? Idk the stuff with Colby & Cole sharing a body is being reworked so this might become non-canon.

“Fucking Traveler’s Tea taking us the last place we need to go…” Colby grumbled under his breath. It was far too hot and far too dry in this master-forsaken realm. So of course he had to be the one piloting the body right now.

You don’t know how cold it gets at night. Cole pointed out, not that it helped Colby’s mood at all. He was tired, overheating, and so fucking done with Wu’s inisistence on just walking in a random direction and hoping.

Faith was pretty cool though.

Colby could feel Cole chastising him for not having faith in the kid, but Cole wasn’t the one driving right now.

Fuck, it was way too hot for this shit.

Which was probably why Colby hadn’t noticed the talisman was missing.

It had taken the others awhile to notice—their brains were probably frying in this heat. Colby knew his certainly was.

“Cole, you okay there?” Jay had asked, face dripping with concern.

“‘M fine.” Colby had waved off. For as bad as the heat was, he wasn’t going to whine about it.

It was then that the other three had looked at each other. Which was confusing.

Colby narrowed his eyes. “Something wrong?”

“You uh, you look different.” Kai said.

And that was when Zane, who’d moved behind Colby without him noticing, had tackled him to the ground, pulling Colby’s arms behind him.

“Hey—what—get off of me!” Colby snarled, struggling to knock Zane off of him. “What the fuck is wrong with you?”

“I think I should be asking you that.” Zane said calmly. “Cole’s eyes do not have black sclera. You are not Cole.”

“Eh?”

Somewhere in their shared conscious, Cole was laughing.

Zane yanked Colby up into a sitting position by the ropes around Colby’s arms. “Explain yourself.”

“What even is there to explain?” Colby flexed against the ropes. He could snap free of them at a moment’s notice if he really wanted to. “My eyes are the way they’ve always been?”

“Nuh-uh!” Jay pointed, “They were brown this morning, now they’re purple! Like the bizarros!”

It was then that Colby’s single, fizzling brain cell finally caught up. A quick glance confirmed his suspicions.

The talisman was gone.

“Huh.” That was unexpected. “After all this time I finally lost it.” He looked back up at Kai and Jay, at where Wu and Faith were standing awkwardly to the side. “I honestly figured I’d have been found out sooner.”

“How long have you been doing this?” Zane asked.

Colby shrugged. “Since Lloyd defeated the Overlord.” There was no point in lying now. “Though I’ve gotta tell you, if revenge was still my plan you’d be six feet under right now.”

“I don’t find that very reassuring.” Jay said warily.

Colby shrugged. “I don’t know what else to tell you.”

Kai came up to him, smouldering. “Give me one good reason why we shouldn’t just leave you out here.”

“I dunno, maybe because you pretty much know me better than you do my counterpart, maybe because without me Wu would have been left in the hands of the SOG—”

Hey, taking Wu was my idea!

“—and maybe it’s because you’d also be leaving Cole behind, too?” Colby bared his fangs as he finished.

“What?”

Colby shrugged. “Ask him when it’s his turn.” Okay. That was enough talking for the day.

The other three looked at each other in confusion. Finally, Zane broke the silence.

“If what you’re saying is true, then… I do not think you are out to hurt us at this point.”

Colby nodded.

“I still don’t trust him.” Kai said.

“If your brother’s reliability is under question,” Faith interjected quietly, “Then I would suggest keeping him tied up for now.”

Colby nodded again. “Fine with me.”

Zane hmmed consideringly. “Alright, we’ll trust you.”

That honestly wasn’t as bad as Colby had been expecting. Sure, he could do without the ropes, but it wasn’t like they’d put his head on a pike.

But fuck, it was hot.

Tales of Three Houses: Hero’s Relics

This probably isn’t the most exciting post in the world, but nonetheless, I’d like to make and share it for lore purposes. It’s unlikely that every single one of these relics will make it into the companion fic, but I like to be prepared anyways. Especially since I have some ideas for what to use as a Relic Weapon. I’ll also be ordering this list differently from the rest, so be warned it’s a mess-

MC Relic Weapon

Ludger

Sword of the Creator (It’s pretty much exactly the same as the game version :P)

House Leader Relics

Asch

Key of Lorelei (Crest of Lorelei). A sword said to once belong to Saint Lorelei. Crest bearer can use Lost Fon Drive.

Luke

Jewel of Lorelei (Crest of Lorelei). A jewel made by Saint Lorelei meant to protect. At start of turn, restores 5 HP, nullifies critical and effective damage. May half damage for crest bearer.

Velvet

Areadbhar (Crest of Daemon). The head of a once legendary lance, It has since been re-purposed into a dagger. Crest bearer can use Scarlet Night.

Lloyd

Flamberge and the Vorpal Sword (Crest of Yggdrasil). A pair of swords that were once one. It is said the hero Yggdrasil split them. Each sword bears one half of a single crest in their hilts. Crest bearer can use Falcon’s Crest.

Yuri

Second Star (Crest of Vesperia). A relic lost to time. The only record of it remaining simply say “The first one is meant for him...”. Crest bearer can use Savage Wolf Fury.

Misc. Student Relics

Tear

Jue (Crest of Yulia). A staff once used by the hero Yulia. Grants magic range +2. Increases amount of health restored to target.

Guy

Jewel of Gardios (Crest of Gardios). A sword once used by the hero Gardios. Crest bearer can use Brilliant Overlord.

Jade

Blutgang (Crest of Balfour). A spear once used by the hero Balfour. Its history is marred by blood. Crest bearer can use Indignation.

Sorey

Fethmus Mioma (Crest of the Shepard). A sword that was passed down through generations. Its origins are unknown, but it is closely associated with the lineage of “The Shepard”. Crest bearer can use Divine Wrath.

Alisha

Ladylake (Crest of Diphda). A lance once used by the hero Diphda. Crest bearer can use Azure Apocalypse.

Colette

Jegudiel (Crest of Sylvarant). A pair of chakrams once used by the hero Sylvarant. Though there are two weapons, only one has a crest stone. Crest bearer can use Holy Judgement.

Zelos

Raziel (Crest of Tethe’alla). A dagger once used by the hero Tethe’alla. Crest bearer can use Divine Judgement.

Sheena

Origin (Crest of the Cursed). A talisman once used by a fallen hero. It is said whoever bears its crest is burdened with nothing but misfortune. Increases strength of magic attacks and increases magic range +1. Occasionally nullifies magic damage for crest bearer.

Emil

Ain Soph Aur (Crest of Ratatosk). A sword once used by the hero Ratatosk. Crest bearer can use Ars Nova.

Patty

Awilda (Crest of Aifreed). A unique weapon once belonging to the apostle Aifreed. Though the shape is unlike any other weapon in history, it functions similarly to a bow. Crest bearer can use Final Gambit.
