i’m doing a master in translation so my library is mostly made of translation books, dictionnaries and grammar books. i love it so much, i love translating even for fun, i could do it all day!

fun fact, this weekend i’m a busy bee, working as an interpreter for an event and we’ll be receiving actors from shows like shadowhunters, reign, the 100, jatp. it’s going to be nice!

Going to attempt this challenge! I really need to get better lighting for my photos....

Day 1. To-do list. Today I have 3 lectures and 1 teaching session. I need to prepare for this session and after it I have to do some French.

We're struggling to get things done today, but it's whatever I guess. (Featuring my morning visitor who successfully distracted me prior to lunch)

I've never done a challenge before, because I'm new around here and don't really understand how the whole tumblr thing works, but in the spirit of camaraderie (and also because I'm living in one of the biggest covid hotspots in the world right now), even though we aren't in a lockdown (even though we totally should be; if only monkeys weren't in charge of the place), I'm going to do @getshitdonetbh's lockdown challenge!

Day one (12.11.2020): your to do list (seen above).

(This is today's, but it's been pretty much the same all week) Some of the things are recurring, some are very broad, and some I just haven't done yet (*side eye to the massive pile of laundry I have yet to fold*)

Day two (13.11.2020): what are you studying at the moment?

At University? English. This semester? TEFL, environmental studies, American lit (speculative fiction), and George Eliot + Jane Austen. Right now? I'm putting off a TEFL assignment providing feedback to peer-developed activities, and a reflection on the class observations we've done so far.

Day 3: What is your favorite subject?

- high school: history

- university: I don't know, with some courses I loved my paper topic but hated lecture materials, others the other way around. I do love most of the topics we studied, but have mixed feelings about their organisation.

Day six (17.11.2020): study routine

I... don't have one? At the beginning of the semester I would try to read in the mornings for my independent study and get other work done in the afternoons (around my class schedule, which is pretty wacky this semester), but now that I've done all my reading for that I just try to get things done by the time I have class. I guess the most important part of my "study routine" is that I try to get to bed by 10-10:30, because otherwise I'm entirely nonfunctional the next day.

Day four (15.11.2020): your dream job

I'm super indecisive so I don't know??? (Seriously my little brother no longer answers "what do you want to be/do when you grow up" with a job--he says "a math education major" or whatever, and he gets it from me...)

Maybe an English professor???? I'll have to get through undergrad first though????

Sorry I've not posted--had to freak out about a presentation and then write an essay developing my final research question for American lit in a day and a half (but it's in now, so: more lockdown challenge!)

I have so many. But one that's really helped me this semester in my courses & thinking about my academic future (though not exactly a "quote") is

Day eight (19.11.2020): why did you join the studyblr community (explain your tumblr url)?

Because I'm awful at self-motivation and online school has been rough, and, like a lot of people, I thought it seemed like a good place to find motivation and hold myself accountable. In terms of my url, I really struggled to come up with one, but I like books and I like the outdoors/fires, and the alliteration is a definite plus.

Day nine (20.11.2020): one thing you want to learn during this lockdown

Well, we're not actually in a lockdown here (though we should be), and my priority is definitely finishing the semester strong and then getting started on my honours project work for next year, but I have lots of unfinished projects to get to as well. I'd like to do some more baking, too--I've got a list of things I'd like to bake, so maybe we'll get to some of that...
