I think I inadvertently came across the meaning behind Katie’s “purity” tattoo

while researching the etymology of names (like the nerd that I am). So buckle up and follow along:

Katie’s full first name is Katherine.

The etymology of Katherine:

derived from the Greek name Aikaterine

Aikaterine debatably comes from either the Greek word “hekateros” (meaning each of the two) or from the Greek goddess Hecate (goddess of witchcraft and the Underworld).

The Latin spelling of Aikaterine became Katerina

In the early Christian Era, the Latin spelling was changed from Katerina to Katharina in order to reflect the Greek word “katharos”, which gave the name Katherine (first spelled this way in the Middle Ages) a more religiously acceptable and modest meaning of “pure” or “purity”

She got the meaning of her name tattooed on her, y’all.

ETA: it’s been pointed out that she has disclosed the meaning in an interview, but I must’ve missed it. Interesting info anyway for anyone who’s interested in etymology.
