The sun is peeking into your room like the menace she is. Get up, Y/N! Time to get the hell up and do something productive! You can practically hear her yell at you, and the sunlight seems to shine brighter at the thought. You groan and turn away from the window not having enough energy to get out of bed and close the curtains.
What the hell happened last night? You have a pounding headache and achy body. Tony threw a party at the compound and invited everyone he knew. Thor came over with alcohol from Asgard. Everyone knows you. They knew if he presented you with alcohol from Asgard, you’d challenge him to a drink off. You’re never the one to back down from a challenge even though everyone told you to.
Now you have a raging headache and an aching body because of it.
If you’re going to combat this hangover then you have to at least get out of bed. You roll your body off the side of the bed and plant your feet firmly on the ground. With all your strength, you stand up. The headache seems to get worse at higher elevation but you deal through the pain. Not only do you have to deal with a nasty hangover, it’s unbearably hot. Sweat sticks to your skin making your clothes cling to your body.
You walk to the bathroom and brush your teeth. If you’re not going to do anything today, you have to at least do that. You shuffle down the hallway to the kitchen where Tony is. He’s making something to eat and looks up when he hears you come in.
“We thought you were dead,” he chuckles.
“Shh.” You close your eyes and hold your finger up to silence him. “You’re too loud.” You open the fridge and grab a cold bottle of water. You chug half of it. “Turn the air on, would ya?”
“No can do. The air conditioning unit is busted.”
“You’re Tony Stark. How can your air conditioning be broken?”
“Since you’re the one who overloaded Friday when you sprayed alcohol all over the motherboard.”
“Sorry,” you wince.
“Tell that to everyone else. I’m outta here. I’m going to Pepper’s house where it’s cold. The repair guy is coming later today to fix it.”
Tony grabs a water bottle and leaves the kitchen. You sigh and walk into the living room to see Loki sitting on the couch reading a book. If he knows you’ve entered the room he doesn’t show it. You walk over to the couch and sit next to him, and he peeks at you from over the top of the book.
“Rough night?” he smirks.
“Shut up.”
“I told you not to outdrink Thor. You weren't going to win.”
“Scold me tomorrow. Right now, I need total silence.”
Loki goes back to reading his book while you lean your head on the back of the couch. It’s still uncomfortably hot inside the compound so there’s not a position on the couch that feels good. Since you and Loki are on the same couch, every movement you exert makes him move. He sighs in frustration and lowers his book.
“Stop moving.”
“It’s hot in here.” You use your hands to shift on the couch when you feel something cool radiate onto your hand. You touch Loki’s arm which is cold to the touch. “You’re freezing!”
“One of the perks of being a Frost Giant, love.”
You don’t think twice about what you’re about to do. You immediately cling to his side and allow his skin to cool your own. He hates other people touching him but when he sees the content look on your face, he decides that maybe this isn’t so bad. He shifts on the couch to make it more comfortable for the both of you, and he wraps an arm around your body. He opens his book back up and continues to read as if you’re not there.
His cool skin and your raging hangover are enough to make you fall back asleep. You stay like this for the rest of the afternoon. Before the sun sets, Thor, Tony, and Steve come back from wherever they are with laughter in the air and smiles on their faces. Loki glares at them from across the room which makes them stop in their tracks.
“If one of you wakes her up, I’m stabbing all three of you.”
“He’s serious,” Thor whispers. “We should go.”
Loki smirks at their retreating figures and smiles when he feels you snuggle closer to him.

“Are you alright, Darling?”
He knew fuck well you were not alright. True to his word, there was plenty more to come. Loki had stamina for days, waking you up periodically through the night so he could thrust back into you and deliver more orgasms.
You moaned as he laid you on your left side, facing a mirror you hadn’t known was there. It figured that he’d have a full length mirror right next to the bed, the vain prick.
He slipped back in and pressed his chest to your back. His face was near your ear so you heard every moan and sigh that escaped his beautiful mouth. “Look at us, Darling,” Loki moaned.
You opened your eyes and looked at the picture of you two. Loki was pressed into you, your right leg held up by his hand and pulled open for him to move inside of you. He had slowed his strokes so that they were deep and full. You felt every glide and every inch of him.
“Gods,” you moaned. Your pleasure had been driven to heights you only read about. He kept you in a perpetual state of bliss. You almost didn’t mind the lack of sleep. If you were being awakened for dick, could you really complain?
“Right here, Darling,” Loki said. He kissed your cheek and looked at your face in the mirror. You looked as well. You were thoroughly fucked out. Your hair was a mess, deep lines on your skin from the pillows and sheets. Your lips were swollen from all of his kisses. You were marked and claimed by him.
Your eyes traveled to him. His hair was all over the place, slicked back too many times in his desperate need to keep it from his face. You left deep, red welts on his shoulders and back from the times that he hit your G-spot and you were unprepared.
After each time, he whispered, “one more”, and you were unable to form a denial. You wanted to please him. You wanted that look on his face. The face he was making now. As if in between your thighs was the closest to Valhalla he’ll get for now.
The wet squelches from your combined fucking was still like sweet music to your ears. It drove your arousal higher, pushed you to sink onto his dick hungrily. Greedily. Your pleasure built in your belly, cresting higher and higher. You raced after it, pulling it within your grasp.
“Oh Loki, Loki,” you moaned as the wave moved over you. You moaned his name over and over as your body jerked and twisted.
Loki kissed your neck and cheek. He moaned your real name as he released himself inside of you for the hundredth time that night. Loki placed soft kisses to your shoulder and back as he softened and pulled himself out of you.
He dropped down onto the bed, out of breath and wrung out. You couldn’t move an inch. You panted and heaved as you looked at yourself post orgasm. You felt beautiful and sinful. You felt seen in ways you hadn’t for the past five years. He helped you do that. But it was still you.
The parts of you that you hid deep down inside were still there. You weren’t broken. It wasn’t too late to become that woman again. You smiled tiredly at your reflection. Earth may not be Asgard, but Asgard had always been its people. And you were still here.
A warm cloth between your legs made you yelp. You were incredibly sensitive. One more fucking round and you’d simply die. Loki chuckled and kissed you while he cleaned you up. He toyed with you, going extra slow around your clit. You groaned.
“No more, please,” you begged.
Loki chuckled again and kissed your cheek. “I had five years to make up for, Darling,” he said.
“Liar. You didn’t start the club until a year after we arrived,” you said.
“And I wanted you before even then,” he said.
That did give you enough strength to roll over and face him. He faced you, head resting on his elbow, as he looked you in the eyes.
“Bullshit,” you said.
“All these years and you still don’t think I’m capable of the truth,” he said and shook his head. His finger idly traced patterns across your belly and thighs. You watched him closely to make sure he wasn’t trying to get you going again. Seriously, you couldn’t.
“You’re capable when it suits you,” you said.
“And it suits me now. You were in town, shopping, and I was securing my permits. I left the building and you were across the street, talking to the baker. You wore…a blue dress. Sandals. Hair pulled up and I thought you were the most gorgeous thing I’d ever seen,” he said.
You stared at him. You thought back to the dozens of times you went to the baker. He was Asgardian and made the pastries you liked. You were working a dead end job you hated, wishing for something more. The pastries were a luxury you really couldn’t afford but you couldn’t resist.
“You remember that?” You asked. You usually had more situational awareness. Loki held a presence unlike any other. You’d be able to pick him out of a thousand clones. But you hadn’t realized he was on the street.
You assumed the princes were off doing…whatever princes did when there was no throne to rule from. Meetings, logistics, and the like.
“How could I not?” He asked. “I remembered that the only thing I wanted to do was talk to you. But you looked so sad. And the pastries brought you such comfort. I didn’t want to interrupt,” he said.
Now, you sat up and turned towards him. His hand moved down to your hip, still tracing patterns. “Since when do you care about interrupting?”
Loki smiled. “The way you speak about me, I’d think I was a monster,” he said with a cheeky wink.
You rolled your eyes. “You’re not getting free compliments, so stop,” you said.
He grinned. “I stood there and looked at you. When you left, the sadness returned. I figured we were all still recovering from Thanos, so the last thing you needed was a failed prince to bother you,” he said.
You narrowed your eyes at him. You rubbed your head. There was just…no way that he saw you when you hadn’t known he was there. It bordered on stalking the way you would yearn for any glimpse of him every time you got to attend a feast at the palace. The way you would crane your neck and watch, transfixed, as he strolled in with shorter hair and his brother.
He was always smiling, always grinning, always moving around without a care in the world. You used to pray to the gods that he’d look your way just once and see you. He never did of course. Too busy looking at Thor. Everyone always did.
“So when I came in for the job and you hired me on the spot?”
“I wasn’t going to pass up a chance to see you every day,” he said.
“Loki! Did I get it because I was qualified or you wanted some ass?” You asked. You smacked his shoulder. He moved back as if you put any real weight behind it. He grinned at you.
“Because you were qualified. I am a reputable business owner and wanting a chance at that sweet, sexy pussy of yours would be against policy,” he said. Straight face and everything.
You were probably going to have to see a doctor from all the squinting you were doing. This was insane. But…you chose to believe him. He could come up with a better lie than that. So…it had to be the truth. He did see you and wanted you way before you thought.
Heat pulsed through you and you sank down onto the bed, feeling giddy. This was so silly. It was like you had a crush all over again. But you probably never really grew out of it where he was concerned.
“Okay, I choose to believe you,” you said.
He leaned down and kissed your breast. “I’m glad,” he said.
“Don’t you start!” You said, moving away from him. He scooted closer.
“I seem to recall you agreeing that I could have you whenever and wherever?”
You were on the edge of the bed and there was no more room left to run. Loki crowded your personal space and kissed you, at his leisure, his hand back on your hip.
“That was the heat of the moment, can’t stand up in human court,” you murmured as he kissed along your jaw.
He nipped at your jaw and you hissed from the bite of pain. “Verbal contracts are still binding, Darling. You know that,” he said.
“Fine, twist my arm,” you said.
Loki grinned. “I will have mercy just this once. But make no mistake. I will make good on my promises,” he said.
“Threats more like it,” you said. You tried to give him a stern look. But he was so damn cute laying there with his dark hair, in his home that smelled uniquely like him. You were truly in trouble here.
“Is it still a threat if I threaten you with pleasure?” He asked.
“How are you still capable of moving? I want to sleep for a week,” you said. Even now as you spoke and moved, you were thoroughly sore. The places that he gripped you were raw with his fingerprints. The places that he suckled and kissed you were patches of soreness. Your pussy still throbbed from all the pleasure wrung out of you. It was a miracle you were still awake.
“I have longed for this, Darling. I do not wish to see it end so soon,” he said. He didn’t look at you as he said it. Instead, his eyes were focused on caressing your hip.
“Hey,” you said. You nudged him until he dragged his eyes from your hip. “No more running. I want this and I want you,” you said.
Loki smiled, his eyes crinkling in the corners. This man really had no idea, did he? He could spin a thousand tales and you’d still want him. Crave him. Lo-like him. You bit your lip at that mental slip.
“What’s wrong?” Loki asked.
You kissed him instead of answering. You ran your tongue across his lips. He moaned as his hand clutched your hip. “Thought you were done?”
“Can’t I kiss you without it turning to more?” You asked.
“Never,” he said.
You rolled your eyes. Your stomach chose that moment to rumble. Loudly. You buried your face in his shoulder with a groan. He only laughed.
“I have been a poor host. I will make something for us,” he said. He kissed your head and ordered you to stay there while he left the room. You watched his ass as he moved about flawlessly. You couldn’t, you simply couldn’t, but damn if he didn’t make you want to hop back on his dick and ride him until sunrise.
You were almost asleep when he entered the room carrying a tray. On it, there was french toast, bacon, and eggs. “You didn’t have to make all of this!”
“Yes, I did,” he said. He placed the tray on the bed and you shared the meal, talking about nothing and everything. After, you relaxed against the bed and talked some more until you were both too tired to keep moving your jaws. If only you could communicate by mind.
You both climbed under the covers and you fell asleep in his warm embrace, content for the first time in ages.
In the morning, you slowly awoke to soft light coming through his curtains. Loki sighed and pulled you closer. You smiled and snuggled into him.
“Careful, Darling,” he said.
Holy hell, if you thought his voice was sexy before? His sleep-rough voice would melt your panties if he hadn’t torn them off of you. While you wanted to tease him, you also knew that you couldn’t follow through. So you settled down and kissed his arm around you.
“Good morning, Loki,” you said sweetly.
“Good morning, Darling,” he said with a soft chuckle. He kissed the back of your head.
“Oh no,” you said. Dread pooled in your gut as you thought about the new day and what it meant. What the hell were you going to tell your crew? You could hear Honey’s laughter now.
“What is it?” He asked.
“What are we going to tell everyone?” You asked.
“We can say however much you want or how little you want. But they will know you’re mine,” he said. He tightened his grip around your middle to emphasize his point. You rolled your eyes even though you squealed on the inside.
“Loki, be serious. What are you gonna do? Fuck me with the door open again?”
“If I please,” he said. You could hear the grin in his voice and you rolled your eyes again. He really was incorrigible.
“Loki…” You groaned. He didn’t understand. The rules for him were different from the rules for you. He was a god and could do damn well whatever he pleased. You on the other hand, people would only assume what you asked last night. Did you get the job on your knees or on your back?
“It matters not. We’re not going in today anyway,” Loki said.
You rolled over and he peeked at you. “We’re going to into town to speak with the King. She might know who we’re dealing with.”
“Why would she know?” You asked.
“I’ve been looking at the cards left behind by our saboteur. Only two, same card stock. Magically created. The King was the foremost expert in Asgardian security, she might shed some light.”
You lifted an eyebrow at him. “Nice to see you were resting while we sorted out the rooms,” you said.
He smiled and shrugged. “Seize the day. We could make a day of it,” he said.
“Loki, are you asking me on a date?” You asked.
“No. You’ll know when I’m asking you on a date. But I would like your company on this errand,” he said.
You sighed and rolled your eyes to the ceiling. He was so damn infuriating. And yet…
“How am I supposed to get home without any clothes?” You asked.
Loki grinned and pulled back the covers to look at your naked body. His blue eyes got wider, taking you all in. You squirmed beneath his perusal.
“Is it my fault you showed up without any clothes?”
“I wasn’t expecting you to rip them off of me,” you said.
“You offer me a present and I don’t get to unwrap it? That hardly seems fair,” he said. He pouted and you slapped his shoulder with a laugh.
“I’m being serious, Loki,” you said.
“As am I. Besides, can’t you conjure clothes?” Loki asked.
“What? No. I can only conjure weapons,” you said.
He looked at you and frowned. “Have you ever tried?”
You opened your mouth to tell him of course you had, but…well, shit, have you? You had an affinity for weapons and that was all you ever knew. It didn’t occur to you to try different constructs.
“I can’t remember,” you said.
“While we’re on about it, is that the only magic you know how to do? Are you more in-line with my power?”
You scooted closer and planted a kiss on his cheek. “No one can compare to the oh so powerful, oh so dreadful, the charming and devilishly handsome god, Loki,” you said. You peppered kisses in between your words and Loki’s face lit up with delight. You could get used to him like this. Happy and open and carefree. You really liked seeing this side of him.
“Flattery gets you everywhere, Darling. But I think we should make some time to see what you can do,” he said.
You shrugged. Why not?
“In the meantime…” Loki got out of bed and held his hand out to you. He pulled you into the bathroom where he pleaded for, “just one more”, and you couldn’t resist him. Afterwards, he conjured a brand new black suit for him and a black plaid dress for you, with green and gold lines intersecting. He even conjured you up some kick ass boots that gave you some height but still nowhere near him.
He looked over your outfit with a manic gleam in his eyes. “Down boy!”
He pouted as you left his place and walked towards your car. You offered to drive you into town and he refused. Something about being a proper host. Instead, he had his own car. A sleek truck that was too tall for you to climb into. He helped you into the passenger seat and then soon, you were on your way into town.
Once in town, he parked on the outskirts and you walked towards the main City building. People were bustling about doing their shopping. Tourists were in town sharing jokes and ales with the local Asgardians. It was…sweet to see everyone hanging out and talking and getting along. You missed this.
“Come along, Darling,” Loki said. He kept his hands in his pockets as you walked towards the City building. His shoulders hunched forward. Guess there will be no holding hands today. Was he the holding hands type? You weren’t sure. Why did you want to hold his hand anyway? It was stupid and childish.
You clenched your hands into fists and walked beside him. He held the door for you as you went inside. The atmosphere inside the building was homey and comfortable. A far cry from the glitz and glamor of the palace back home.
You looked towards Loki. Maybe that was his problem. Maybe he missed Asgard as much as everyone else. Except, he had no one to tell that to. He did so much shit trying to bring it down, embarrass Odin or Thor, or cause mischief. Maybe he thinks people won’t want to hear how he misses it.
Loki made a beeline towards the main hall. Inside, aides rushed to and fro as King Valkyrie sat at the head of the table. She looked positively miserable.
She was gorgeous as always. Flawless skin, locs twisted up in a lazy hairdo, and a smart suit to rival Loki’s black one. He made his look classy and debonaire. She made hers look painted on, effortless, and sexy.
She looked up as the brown uniform doors closed behind you. She smirked at you but her eyes turned icy towards Loki.
“To what do I owe this pleasure?” Her smooth voice called out.
Loki smiled and opened his arms. The picture of innocence. Right. Like cats are innocent.
“We have a dilemma that I was hoping you could help with,” Loki said.
“Is the club not keeping you busy enough as is?” King Valkyrie asked.
Gods, she was gorgeous. You were nervous as hell. On Asgard, you were lucky to attend a few feasts. You never would have gotten that close to the family, let alone Odin himself. To be this close to King Valkyrie was nerve wracking.
Loki produced the two cards with “Remember and “Vengeance” written on it. The King stood up and took the cards from his hand. She turned them over and looked at Loki.
“What of it?” She asked.
“Do you recognize anything about it? Anything at all? There’s a…saboteur at the club,” Loki admitted.
The King walked around the open space, light from the windows hitting her coral skin. She studied the two cards as she moved around, humming to herself. “A saboteur? You say?” She asked.
She walked closer to you and looked at you. “What do you think?”
Your words died in your throat. You looked towards Loki who nodded. Like that fucking did anything. You took a deep breath. “Causing a lot of issues for us. It’s annoying. No one’s gotten hurt that much. But enchanting our customers, one of our performers’ legs went through the floor, and switched our rooms around,” you explained.
“Heavy magic involved. All to mess with…you,” the King turned towards Loki and pointed.
“We know that already. But why the cards? My enemies are usually more direct,” Loki said.
“Now that you mention it, I’ve heard some of the locals talk about legends around here. But those are just stories,” King Valkyrie said. She moved back towards the windows and looked at the cards.
“What kind of legends?” Loki asked.
“Just stories, I’m sure.”
Loki smiled and rolled his neck. “My King, I am very desperate to catch this person.”
King Valkyrie looked at you and made a surprised face. Yeah, you thought you’d drop dead before you heard those words from his lips. You supposed this was getting to Loki more than he let on. Once you had him to yourself again, you were going to make him talk to you. Keeping all this shit bottled up was going to eat him alive.
“Fine,” King Valkyrie said. She hopped onto the table and faced them. “There is a legend around here of a disfigured man who used to live up on the hill where the club now resides. The locals treated him as you would expect, horribly. They harassed the poor man until he went insane. They wouldn’t let him sleep. Kids would jangle chains outside his bedroom windows at night.”
As she spoke, you swore the clouds chose that exact moment to blot out the sun. The room turned a shade darker. Shadows played across King Valkyrie’s features. If you didn’t know any better, you’d say she had magic of her own.
“You haven’t heard the chains yet, have you?” She asked.
You and Loki looked at each other and then at her. You shook your heads at the same time.
“Good, that’s good. Well, you see, more bad things happened to this man until he vowed to take revenge on every living descendant who dared bother him. He prayed to the gods to make him as strong as Odin, as clever as Loki, and as bold as Thor,” she continued.
You stepped forward, engrossed in the story. That poor man. You couldn’t imagine being hounded like that. Your heart ached for him.
“I have no beef with a disfigured man from human history,” Loki said.
“Your club sits on his land. You mock him with your den of sin. His home. You flaunt your pretty boy looks and lure unsuspecting tourists to your club,” King Valkyrie said and shrugged. “Remember? Vengeance?” She waved the cards around.
Loki sighed and approached her, taking the cards out of her hands. “What’s the real story?”
King Valkyrie broke into laughter and clapped her hands. “How did you know?”
You gasped and looked towards the King. You quickly shut your mouth and made your face blank. You would not admit to anyone that you fell for her story. Hey, she was a freakin’ Valkyrie who told a good story. You’d believe her too.
“I am the God of Mischief,” Loki said. He tucked the cards into his coat pocket.
King Valkyrie sighed. “Fine. It’s so dreadfully boring here. For the cards, I am stumped, same as you. Never came across the like. You might want to speak to Heimdall,” King Valkyrie said.
Loki hissed and rolled his eyes. You raised an eyebrow at him in silent questioning.
“Loki thinks Heimdall is still pissed about slipping his gaze,” the King supplied.
“Why am I not surprised,” you muttered. Loki shrugged with a smirk. You had no idea what you were going to do with this man. You walked over to him, careful to keep your distance, and looked him in the eye.
“Are we not desperate? What can Heimdall do now?” You asked.
“Do not underestimate him,” Loki said.
Okay, you two definitely needed to sit down somewhere and discuss whatever the hell you’re missing there. You needed all of the gossip, like right now. You gave Loki a pointed look and he sighed.
“Fine, fine. Let’s go, Darling,” Loki said.
“Hey, come back and visit anytime. Bring a drink next time! Or a bloody sword to end my life,” King Valkyrie called after you.
You turned back and waved to the King and then felt incredibly stupid for doing so. You inwardly groaned. She’d never invite you back if you continued to do weird shit.
Loki stopped outside of the City building, frozen to the spot. You nudged him. He stared off into the distance, barely acknowledging your presence.
“Loki? What is it?” You asked.
Loki’s jaw clenched, continuing to stare off. You followed his line of sight, squinting into the sun. Some distance away, at a pub, Thor was pushed out of the doorway. He was laughing with someone, slapping the smaller man on the back. Each slap of his massive paw caused the man to bowl forward.
You hissed as you took in the state of your prince. He was chubby, wearing…checkered pajama pants that looked dirty and a sweat-stained sweatshirt. His once golden hair was now flaxen like wheat, thick beard unkempt and matted.
“Oh,” you sighed. You hadn’t thought…you had no idea…
You looked towards Loki. He stared at his brother across the way, guilt etched into his features. Again, you felt out of the loop but that was for another time. You wrapped your hand around Loki’s arm. You nudged him.
“Hey,” you said softly. Loki shook himself as if emerging from a trance. He smiled at you.
“Come, we’ll see Heimdall tomorrow,” he said. He put his head down and started walking forward. You stopped him and moved until you could look at his face.
“Don’t you want to say hi to your brother?” You asked.
“Stay out of it, Darling,” Loki said.
“But, he’s right there. Clearly hurting. How long has he been like this?” You asked.
“Leave it,” Loki said.
“But shouldn’t we help him? Has he talked to anyone–”
“I said, drop it, Darling! You’ve no idea what you’re talking about. None! He’s…fine. He’s grieving like the rest of us,” Loki snapped.
You took a step back from the vehemence in Loki’s sapphire eyes. “Darling–”
You lifted a hand. “I’ve tolerated a lot of shit from you, Loki. But you don’t ever speak to me like that.”
“I’m sorry–”
You lifted another hand. “I’ll find my own way home,” you said.
“Please,” he said. He called your name and you turned away from him. You will not let this man see more of your tears. You knew on a rational level that he was not mad at you. It wasn’t personal. But that was no excuse to talk to you like that. You were asking an innocent question.
You looked toward Thor once more. He had a bottle of ale in his hand and he was stumbling down the road. The town drunk. You won’t presume to know what happened there or why he was like this now. It’s not like you two were friends or that you had checked up on him these past five years.
You’d asked about him plenty of times, since Loki always seemed so down after going into town. You assumed that sometimes he saw his brother. Maybe he didn’t. Maybe he spent these past five years hiding like everyone else. Trying to pick up the pieces left behind in Thanos’ wake.
What did you know? Besides, Loki needed to cool down and you did not want to be around him right now. You were liable to truly hurt his feelings. Your own anger simmered. One night of bliss and it turned into such a shit show.
You mentally kicked yourself. You knew sleeping with him was a mistake. Sex only ever complicated things and it was bullshit. Thinking with your pussy rather than your head. You kept your head down for five fucking years and threw it all away, for what? For one night of sexual gratification?
Ugh. You were disgusted with yourself. You crossed your arms and walked down the road. You were aware of Loki’s gaze on you but you refused to turn around. You didn’t want to deal with this shit. You didn’t ask for it. And you certainly didn’t ask to babysit Loki’s hangups.
You walked home more confused and angry than you knew what to do with. How could you face him now? How did you begin to fix this? Whatever the hell this was?

“What’s your favourite colour?” he asks, plain and simple —trivial almost— so much so that it makes you scrunch up your face; lips and nose contorting into an expression of disapproval that makes his eyes roll.
Under the silken sheets, your body ruined under his touch as his fingers trail patterns over the bareness of your hips and thighs, you don’t fully get why he’s asking. You’ve only just met; hours before, in the corner of the bar. He approached you and you reciprocated his interest and the rest was just boring old history, so why does he care what colours make you happy?
“I don’t know,” you say, even though you have an answer. Everybody does regardless of what they tell themselves because colours have meanings —representations, you decide, sitting there, watching as he pulls away and positions himself on his back.
Despite your better judgment, when he moves you immediately crave his touch and the way his skin seems to cool your own, prompting you to follow him wordlessly, placing your chin on his chest. “How about you?”
“What about me?” He raises his brow and looks towards you, a small smile absentmindedly creeping across his lips.
“What’s your favourite colour?”
Whatever yours is, he thinks, because truthfully he doesn’t care anymore. After everything he lost interest in caring for things that made him happy, because feelings like that don’t last and neither does beauty, so why would he stop to think and choose a favourite colour?
He doesn’t have time for that.
“I don’t think I have one.” It’s a poor excuse for an answer, both of you know it, which is why when you deeply sigh against his chest, the air from your lips fanning across his skin, he can’t help but swallow hard and look away, feeling almost guilty.
Which doesn’t make sense, because you’ve just met. Your opinion is nothing in the grand scheme of things, yet something in his chest pulls him to feel hurt by your response.
“Everybody has one.”
“I’m not sure that’s true.”
“No?”
He shakes his head and moves his hand to your hair, running his fingers through it. It’s softer than anything he’s ever felt, like silk. “You don’t, apparently.”
You bite back a smirk, angling your face away from his, knowing that this is his way of calling your bluff.  “I mean, maybe I do,” you admit, feeling the pads of his fingers make work of your roots, their strength digging into your scalp so effortlessly that without even thinking you give in to the pressure and close your eyes.
“Tell me then.”
You hum in response and focus on the weight of his fingers and how languidly they move through the base of your head, pulling forth a sudden sense of lucidness that makes you grin. “I think I like blue.”
“Blue,” he practically scoffs, because of course you like blue —everybody likes blue. It’s the colour of the sky and the ocean and all the other things so universally good that even just the thought of it makes him want to crawl out of this bed and wash the entirety of his body.
Because while blue is known to be a colour of beauty, for Loki it’s merely just another layer of suffocation —a draping of fabric pulled taught against his increasingly brittle frame. Like all his other insecurities, he’s forced to be blue all hours of the day, forever beneath his usual coating of flesh. On the outside, he’s pale and soft to the touch —easily approachable. People like him when he’s not blue, they respect him and take notice of the way he is rather than what he looks like and it’s something he never takes for granted.
Because deep within the pool of his mind, he often thinks about the difference between the blue he hides and the washed-out, creamy tone he portrays. How would people truly treat him if he were to get rid of the veil? Would they run for their lives as they did on Asgard? Would they hate him and fear him; talking behind his back in hushed tones, or would they direct their repulsion toward his face?
As much as he hates to admit it, every day he wonders about this. When he’s staring into the mirror with his eyes shining red, he wonders if anyone could ever truly love him like this —with texturized cobalt that’s so cold and untouchable, just like the real him.
He doesn’t think that they could.
“Do you not like blue?”
Your voice shifts his thought process, pulling him out of the preverbal depths of his insecurities. Awkwardly he smiles and takes notice of the curiosity in your eyes, visually tracing the way your eyebrows furrow at his lack of response.
“Because everybody likes blue, at least to some degree,” you say after he fails to speak, turning your head so that your ear rests against the centre of his sternum, making it easier for you to hear his rapidly-paced heart.
“Sure, I suppose.” He shrugs lightly, his shoulders lifting and falling at the same time his previously appointed smile becomes engulfed in the usual scowl he lets loose whenever he’s frustrated or uncomfortable.
“But not you?”
He shakes his head, prompting you to narrow your eyes even further, the visibility of your pupils becoming limited as you purse your lips and explore his tells.
Because despite popular belief, Loki —God of Mischief and Lies— has many tells. Like everyone else, he’s vulnerable to the truth and all its revealing glory, leaving him anxious and overly critical of both his thoughts and movements as you continue to stare, taking in all the details.
Your eyes, much like his, scan everything with an air of caution, slowly moving across his nervous face, causing him to swallow hard and force himself to remain calm because as much as he denies it, moments like these often leave him feeling insecure.
“Were you afraid of the Smurfs as a kid or something?” Revealing a smiling set of teeth that makes everything within him instantly halt, he’s quickly left with this coating of confusion, because it’s not common for people to make fun of him so flippantly. Or at all really, which is why when it happens he can’t help but laugh —but shake his head before giving in to the desire to lean over and kiss your forehead, trailing cold, chaste kisses across the expanse of your face.
“No, I’m not afraid of cartoon characters,” he says, and with him you laugh and look up, noticing the back-and-forth look of absence in his eyes. There’s something empty about them as if their blackness isn’t black, but more so bleak —almost empty. Loki’s eyes are sad and lonely and as you look at them, narrowing your own, you can see the bright blue iris shrouded in red; long, lines of crimson that branch out across the white.
“We should sleep,” you say, but Loki just shakes his head again, taking the moment passing to release a deep breath and give your hair a few final run-throughs, his fingers working delicately through the knots that have formed.
“I want to tell you something, if I may.”
You’re not sure what he means, but you know it’s important because of the quiet tone of his voice. It’s innocent sounding, small and frail and barely falling from his lips, and immediately it worries you. Sends you into a state of shock that forces you to pull yourself off his chest and reposition in front of him, legs crossed underneath you.
“What is it?” Swallowing hard, you feel the slick build-up of your anxiety trickle down your throat as you watch his hand reach for your own, each finger taking refuge between the empty spaces as he clears his throat and begins to tell you everything.
Asgard, Midgard, and everything in between —Loki entrusts with you the story of his family and the horror of his upbringing. He tells you of Thor (yes that Thor) and Frigga —of Odin and his kingdom and that fateful day in Jotunheim where Loki was discovered alone in the snow. Cautiously he tells you about his betrayal —his plan to claim the throne and then later, his plan to die. Every detail slipping through his lips is like a reclamation —a perilous journey of memories he’s chosen to take you alongside him as he recounts the details of his mother’s love, his brother’s arrogance, and inevitably his father’s lies.
Loki tells you anything and everything, taking each story and weighing it in his hands before offering it over, hoping that despite the brokenness —his brokenness— that you’ll still find some worth in it.
Because Loki would be lying if he said he didn’t think of himself as worthless. All his life, even without the constant horror of his underlying blue skin, he’s never felt valued, only valuable. To Odin, he was merely a pawn in the diplomatic affairs of Jotunheim and to Thanos, he was deemed the same for having the Tesseract.
Which fucking sucks, you think, as you watch him rip open his chest and fish out the traumatized organ with tears in his eyes, desperately waiting for you to take it.
So you do. Without question you take it and put it in your hands, watching it pulsate in the base of your palm; the tainted blood of his past dripping down your flesh, coating your skin like syrup.
Happily, you want to lap it up —want to look him in the eyes and lick his wounds; swallow them up and bury them deep inside your gut so that he never has to look at them again.
More than anything you want to shield him from the pain and the suffering —want to show him love and support and make it known that just because the past was full of hurt, the future doesn’t have to be as well.
“Thank-you for telling me.”
You know he doesn’t need to be thanked —doesn’t need to be praised for telling a stranger the holy terrors of his upbringing. Loki’s a God, the maker of his own destiny, which is evident in the way he perseveres despite the odds constantly working against him. He’s resilient in his efforts, a strong player in whoever’s story he’s managed to become tangled in, which is something you’re not sure he knows because, to you, it seems like he tethers himself to other people. Playing them like fools in his never-ending game of tricks and trades, hoping one day that they’ll figure out how to hate him.
Because if he can just get them to hate him, perhaps he can be free. Free of the unknown —free of the constant wondering of whether or not he’s worthy of another person’s love.
Of course, he is, you think, but considering the circumstances, you know he doesn’t know that.
“I’m not sure why I did, if I’m honest,” he says, staring at your hands, suddenly wishing that he too could experience the normalities of fleshy tones woven over heated insides instead of the icy structures within his own.
“Strangers are often the best people to tell things to.”
Raising his brow, he hums in response, hoping that you’ll explain.
“We’re not tainted with the idea of you; we’re unbiased.”
“Were unbiased,” he corrects, another scowl crawling across his face, showing you that he knows you’ll think less of him now that he’s told you.
Which isn’t necessarily true. If anything, it’s almost the opposite; because his telling you, even if the story is tailored to benefit his own viewing, is still a step in the right direction. A step towards healing —towards trust. Because at this moment, Loki trusts you with the weight of his life. He sees you as someone worthy of his truth and that in itself is something you know you can’t take for granted as you pull your hand away from his.
“Have you ever shown anyone?” Propping yourself onto your knees, you move to straddle his frame, feeling the base of his cock immediately twitch against you. “Your Jotun form, I mean.”
“Only a select few.”
“Other lovers?” You smirk.
Smirking back, he shakes his head and repositions himself, moving to sit upright against the headboard of your bed, taking your hips in his hands. “Lovers want to love, not to run away in fear.”
There’s a pause then —a lengthy one filled with nothing, but breathing and touching, Loki’s hands digging into the base of your flesh, desperately kneading themselves into the plush of your sides. Instantly you’re drawn to the feeling, your mind already thinking of a thousand ways to subdue the aching that suddenly presents itself between your thighs as you instinctively press yourself further against him.
“I won’t be like the rest of them,” you find yourself saying, the absence of breath throughout your chest making it hard for you to speak above a whisper. “I won’t fear you.”
“Fear me,” he sarcastically scoffs in response, gripping you tighter, almost as if the very thought of fear ignites something within him —something aggressive and primal. “It’s not the colour of my skin that makes them fear me, darling.”
After that he slowly blinks, the colour of his eyes flickering from the lightest of blues to the deepest of reds, an image that makes you weak as you reach out to touch his face, realizing that his skin feels colder than before; rigid and rough, the presence of markings becoming visible across his forehead and cheekbones.
Purely out of habit you pull your hand away and narrow your eyes, inspecting the facial structures that continue to form, raising themselves higher off his skin at the same time his flesh begins to darken. All across him wild splotches of blue become present, their positions resembling freshly wet pavement on a rainy day.
“You look…” Inhaling and exhaling before you can even finish, you quickly find yourself reaching across the empty space, prompting Loki to follow through soundlessly until your lips eventually meet in a frenzy of movements that leave you pulling at each other’s flesh.
Groaning, Loki reaches for your hair and grips it as his lips messily glide from your mouth to your cheek, then to your chin, eventually ending at the side of your neck where he latches on. As he does you let out a soft moan, your lips widely parting at the feeling of his tongue pressing down against your flesh in between swift bites that leave your skin blooming with bruises. “I could ruin you, you know,” he whispers against them, the formation of his words across your wounds sending you over the edge as you feel him work to lift you onto his cock, holding you steadily against the head.
“Is that a promise or a threat?”
Before you receive an answer he’s entering you with everything he has, his hardened flesh pushing through your heat in a chorus of throaty gasps as he rocks back and forth, feeling your weight shift as you lean backwards and reach for his thighs.
Steadying yourself, you grip the tops of them with greedy hands, thumbing the patterns of newly unveiled blue as he repeats his movements, bucking into your wet cunt with a new kind of force that leaves you shaking and grinning because god he’s just so beautiful.
His body, drenched in lapis, looking like the ocean itself, is stunning and radiant, ebbing and flowing against your Midgardian complexion as you lean forward and envelope his lips again, showing him that he’s worthy.
He’s worthy and you’re willing and as he pistons into you, your inner walls aching for that last final snap of the band, you can’t help but tell him. Over and over with each passing wave of pleasure, you speak to him in praises, telling him repeatedly how amazing he is and how good he feels and how after everything he’s been through he deserves to feel loved.
“You’re so fucking beautiful, Loki,” you tell him, even though you’d much prefer to tattoo it into his skin in shades of navy; a reminder that despite the green he often drapes himself in, blue is truly his colour.
Opening his mouth to respond, he’s quickly met with your lips again, his words becoming lost behind your teeth and tongue as you swallow his pride and hate and everything that's ever needed to be pulled out of his system. Like a leech, you rip from him the worst parts of his being; the outward flesh that covers his Jotun form that’s been mistreated and left to suffer; the vile words of his father all those years ago; the abuse he experienced under the hands of Thanos.
And with each new breath, Loki begins to better understand these efforts. Slowly but surely, his mind, once clouded with thoughts of angst and regret, begins to fill with something new entirely —something soft and warm that makes his stomach twist into knots as he fills you up further and further, the sounds of your wanton moans shrouding him in bliss.
At this moment, Loki’s engulfed in ecstasy. He’s elated and delighted; covered in a sense of euphoria he’s never felt before. Hopelessly, he wants to laugh and cry and scream —to take you as you are just as he is he, coated in blue like sapphires and the sky and little robin’s eggs in the spring.
Because right now he’s your favourite colour and he knows it. He knows it because everything to you that’s beautiful is blue and no longer is he the exception. In fact, Loki’s the rule now; an ever-present reminder of just how glorious your favourite colour can appear through the naked eye as it fucks into you, pushing you over the edge until you’re panting and gripping, and asking him to ruin you over and over again.
He wants to ruin you forever if he can —if it feels like this— because the high he gets from being with you is intoxicating. It’s everything he never dreamed of and as he feels those final twitches press against your insides, he knows it’s all he’ll ever dream of now.
In shades of blue, he’ll dream of only you.

You laughed, talking with Steve, lounging on the couch. Your phone lay forgotten on your lap, the book you had been reading still displayed on the screen.
“But Steve, there were more important things going on. Like a war!”
“Howard said there were going to be flying cars by now.” Steve says, the low volume of his voice contrasting with your excited one.
“But the point is-“
“Could you just shut up? I’m tired of hearing you yell all the time, Y/n.” Tony says, walking in. You shut your mouth, looking down at your lap.
“Sorry Tony.” you say quietly.
“There we go! That’s a much more acceptable volume.”
“I’m sorry.”
😔
You sit at the table, trying to listen to Tony. And yet, despite your efforts, your mind wanders. You start tapping your pen on the table, not even noticing what you’re doing.
“Y/N! For Christ’s sake! Either stop tapping that pen on the table or get out!”
You look up at Tony, putting the pen down and putting your hands on top of your lap. “Sorry.” you mutter, your face burning.
😔
“What are you doing? I said we needed to go half an hour ago! How are you still not ready?” You look up at Natasha, seeing she was all dressed up, ready to go.
“What? No, you said that only 5 minutes ago!” you say, checking the time. Oh shit.
“Hurry up! We need to go!”
“Shit I’m sorry! Just give me a minute, I'll be right out!” you say, grabbing your brush and running it through your hair before grabbing your shirt.
😔
“-and I know it’s a problem, but I really just want all the books in the series and I’ve already read the first two, I just need to read the third, but I figured that if I have all three books I’d be able to reread them anytime I want. Oh, that reminds me- I need to go to the library and give them some more books that I know I’m not going to read, but I need to clean out my bookshelves first.
“Oh, but that would take forever, and I know I’m going to stop in the middle of it and entirely forget to do it for weeks. I’m really sorry by the way, I know I talk too much. Okay, I’m going to shut up now.” You shut your mouth, wishing you could just shut up for once. Why did you have to talk so much?
“Thank god, I was wondering when it was going to end. Why do you always have to talk? Blah blah blah, 24/7. It’s so annoying.” Tony says, and you scowl.
“What is your problem with me? I’m getting sick of you berating me, Tony.” you say, turning around on the couch.
“You! You are the problem! You're always talking, your too loud, you always have to make everything about you-”
“Okay first of all-”
“-and what is it with you and ignoring the time? Things need to be done in a timely manner, Y/n. And those ‘overstimulation’ tantrums you throw are so fucking fake!”
“You don’t know what you’re talking about!” you yell, getting up from your seat and walking towards Tony.
“Oh! I don’t? Stop trying to use ‘I have ADHD’ as an excuse. It’s not real.” Tony says, mocking you.
“It is a real thing, dammit!”
“No it is not! Stop making excuses and start trying to act like a mature adult!” Tony yells, getting in your face.
You blink back tears, sniffling.
“Oh here we go again! Stop acting like a baby, you’re not two, it’s not cute, it doesn’t make me feel anything except disappointment for you.”
You wipe your face, turning around and walking to your small apartment in the building, trying to stop yourself from crying. You slam the door shut when you get to your share of the building, and rush to your room, tears falling down your face as you wrap yourself in blankets.
😔
“Darling! I’m back!” Loki says, putting away the last of the groceries. He knew you’d forget to get groceries pretty often, so he usually got you some whenever he went somewhere.
He’d just finished a mission, and tried to call you, but you hadn’t picked up. Three times. It was unlike you.
“Darling? Is everything alright?” Loki looks around, putting the plastic bags in your designated basket for store bags.
Loki frowns, pulling his phone back out. He dials your number, and hears your ringtone coming from the bedroom. He follows the sound, softly knocking on your closed door.
“Darling? Are you in there?”
“Leave me alone.” Your usually happy voice was full of annoyance, making Loki worry even more.
“May I come in?”
“Leave me alone, Loki!” Again your voice was filled with venom, but he heard your voice crack.
You watch as the door slowly opens, light spilling into your room from the hallway. “I said-“
You get cut off when you feel the mattress dip next to you, and Loki’s eyes on you. You cover up your face, embarrassed. You should have gotten over it hours ago. And yet it stung, almost as if Tony had actually hit you.
“I’m fine, Loki.” you mutter, keeping the blankets over your head.
“Darling-”
“Leave me alone, my god!” you say, flopping back into the mattress.
“What’s wrong?”
“Nothing’s wrong! Just leave me alone!” You could feel the tears gathering in your eyes, and you wipe them away, frustrated. “Why are you so insistent that something’s wrong? I’m fine!”
“Because you usually can’t wait to tell me about your week, and you're always so excited to see me that your words spill over themselves.”
“God, just leave it be. I’m fine.” Even you didn’t believe it, you heard the tears in your voice, which just made you even more frustrated.
Loki peels the blankets away from your face, the small sliver of light from the open door falling across your face. Your eyes were red and puffy like you had just been crying, probably for hours.
“Darling, please. Tell me what’s wrong.”
In response, you roll over, and Loki rubs your back. When he hears your quiet sniffles, he sighs, getting up. “Do you want some food?”
“Grilled cheese?” you ask, your voice soft. Vulnerable.
“Of course, dear. Come on, get up.”
😔
“Why does Tony have to be such a jerk?” you ask, and Loki puts your sandwich in front of you, a look of questioning on his face.
“What did he do?” Loki asks, trying to contain his anger. If he laid a finger on you-
No. He would let you figure it out on our own, you had told him that you needed to learn to defend yourself, that you didn’t want Loki fighting all your battles.
But still-
“Can I just show you?” Loki looks at you, searching your eyes.
“Of course.” He slowly takes your hands when you offer them, closing his eyes with you.
He watches the events of the last few days unfold through your eyes, feeling everything.
When you open your eyes, you see Loki, anger written on his face.
“I am going to show him just how much-”
“Loki!” He turns back to you and you sniff, rubbing your nose. “It’s fine. See? I’m fine!”
“Darling, you’re not fine. That’s abuse.” Loki says, sitting next to you, watching as you stopped chewing your food.
“I’m fine.” you bite out, annoyed with yourself. You were not going to cry again.
“Either you talk to him, or I will. Darling, this can’t carry on. I don’t want to see him bring you down anymore. That is enough.”
“I will. Just not right now. Can we just watch a movie?”
Loki looks at you, seeing how close you were to crying again, the tears gathering in your eyes as you stubbornly wiped them away over and over.
“Sure. What do you want to watch?”
😔
Well! This is somewhat based (probably like, 25%-30%) on some of my experiences with ADHD, which kinda sucks sometimes.
I hope you guys liked the story, and don't forget to let me know if you want to be tagged in the future! I hope you have a wonderful day!
Also, sorry I haven't been posting, I've just lost all motivation to do anything, I don't even want to watch Youtube. But I'm pushing through! I have exams this week too, so that's fun. 🫥 But yeah. Love you!

Chapter Index
Loki’s new chambermaid was very efficient and matronly; older than his mother. He learned that her name was Margit and that she is married, has had four children, and has seven grandchildren. She can afford not to work but chooses to because she enjoys it. Before accepting the job as Loki’s chambermaid, she worked part-time in the kitchens. She was kind but stern with Loki when he took too long to choose a tunic to wear to dinner. She reminded him of a nursemaid he had when he and Thor still lived in the nursery.
“I will send this tunic back to the tailor for alteration. These three are too worn out and should have been discarded ages ago. This one does not suit your coloring. These trousers are too short for your legs. This pair of boots need repair. Don’t get me started on your cloaks. Honestly, child,” Margit was muttering to herself as she tore apart his wardrobe.  Loki was getting dressed in the clothes she laid out on his bed, smiling to himself.
He bathed again and dressed in his second-best tunic. He took extra care to look his best. He was feeling much better than he did this morning, though he was getting increasingly nervous as dinnertime approached.
“Well, Margit, do I pass inspection?” Loki asked.
“Let us have a look at you.” Margit turned her attention away from the wardrobe and pushed her spectacles up the bridge of her nose. She ran her hands over Loki’s shoulders and down his arms. She took his chin in her hand and turned his face back and forth. She nodded approvingly, ran a finger behind each ear, and inspected them. “All clean and so handsome. I approve!”
Loki broke into a wide smile. “Thank you, Margit.” He had not been mothered in a long time, and it felt very comforting. Even if he would never admit it out loud, it was just what he needed right now. “Can you arrange for my tailor to bring me some sample fabrics? It seems my wardrobe is in desperate need of an update.”
“Yes, My Prince, good idea. I will see to it after your breakfast in the morning.” She went back to the pile of clothes on the floor.
“I will not be requiring breakfast in the morning. Now that the King has returned, I must catch up on work. I will head straight to my office in the morning.”
“Nonsense!”
“Excuse me?”
“You cannot be of any help to the realm with an empty belly. I will have breakfast ready for you when I wake you in the morning. Your Highness.” She added the last part as an afterthought
“Well, if you insist.”
“I do,” she replied matter-of-factly.
Loki chuckled when she missed his sarcasm.
“Now, stop dragging your heels.” Margit made a shooing motion with her hands. “Your mother will be cross if you are late for dinner. Scoot, Your Highness.”
“How have I made it this far without you, Margit?” Loki smiled widely as he made his way to the front doors of his apartment.
“Norns only know. Have a good time!” she said with a wave as she ushered him through the door.
Loki shook his head as he went to the small formal dining room on the other side of the palace.
Thor and Frigga were already in the receiving room outside the dining room. Loki bowed to his mother and then leaned in to kiss her cheek. “Mother, Thor, greetings.”
“You look well rested, Brother.” Thor clapped Loki on the arm.
“Thank you. I am feeling better.  Mother, I need to tell you something before our guests arrive.” Loki said in a hushed voice.
“Does this have to do with the maid called Sera?” she asked.
He could not hide his surprise, “Mother, I did not invite her into my rooms. She must have convinced the guards to let her by. I was sound asleep, dead to the realm. Honestly,” he threw his hands up in defense, “I did not even realize what she was doing to me until-”
Frigga held up her hand to stop him.
“Wait, what happened?” Thor’s curiosity was piqued.
“I was informed. I have already discussed this with the head of security. Sera has been removed from the palace grounds. We have secured her a room and employment elsewhere.”
“Sera?” Thor asked. “The chambermaid with the nice…smile?” He quickly amended the end of his sentence when he saw Frigga’s face. “What did she do? What happened?” he asked again.
“Nothing you need to concern yourself with,” Frigga said.
Loki mimicked a blow job to Thor behind her back, and Thor’s eyebrows shot up. Frigga spun around, and Loki dropped his hands quickly.
“The two of you are the future of Asgard. Norns help us.” She rolled her eyes and headed straight to the wet bar in the corner of the room to pour herself a drink.
“Really?” Thor whispered to Loki when Frigga was out of earshot. “What the Hel? How do you sleep through that?”
“You know how exhausted I was. I thought I was dreaming.” Thor started giggling. Loki was trying to keep a straight face, “It is not funny.”
“No, it’s not.” Thor’s face was turning red, trying to hold back his laughter.
“Boys!” Frigga scolded as she made her way back to the pair. “That is quite enough.”
“Apologies, Mother. It has been quite the whirlwind of a day, and we have not even had dinner yet.” Loki offered.
“How do you like your new chambermaid?” Frigga asked, trying to change the subject.
“Margit is…unique. But she is delightful. Thorough and efficient,” Loki said.
Thor raised his eyebrows, “Is that so?” he asked and pressed his lips together to keep from laughing.
“No!” Loki threw his hands up in defense, “No, no, no, no, no, no. That was not how I intended that to sound.”
Thor could hold it no longer. He started laughing so hard that tears sprang to his eyes. “You should see your face!” Thor threw up his hands and mimicked his brother’s face.
“She’s ancient!” Loki howled, “I would not even think about-”
“Unless you were asleep, apparently.” Thor roared. Loki joined him.
Frigga drummed her fingernails on her wine glass and tapped her foot, waiting for the guffaws to stop. But each time they thought they were finished, one brother would start the other off again.
By the time they had gotten all their laughter out, Loki’s stomach was hurting, and Thor was wiping tears out of his eyes.
“If you two are quite finished?”
“Sorry, Mother.” They both spoke in unison, just like when they were small.
Then, the doors opened, and Lord Anderson and his family entered. Loki’s eyes immediately went to Sigyn. To Loki’s surprise, she quickly sought him out and gave him a shy smile. Her hair looked almost black in the low light. She was dressed in light blue tonight with silver jewelry and embellishments. The dress was simple and flowed almost weightlessly to the floor. She was just as lovely as he remembered.
Loki heard Thor let out a low whistle.
“Will you please stop doing that?” Loki said, not taking his eyes off Sigyn.
“Apologies, Brother. But…damn. The Norns are truly smiling upon you.”
“Yes,” Loki replied without really thinking.
“Ah, Your Highnesses!” Lord Anderson bowed deeply. “Thank you, My Queen, for the hospitality.”
“Of course.”
“I see someone is feeling better.” Lord Anderson clasped Loki’s hand and gave it a firm shake.
“Yes, well, a good nap can work wonders,” Loki replied.
“The man rebounds quickly!” Lord Anderson winked at Sigyn and gave her a nudge with his elbow, “You will appreciate that once you are married.”
Sigyn smirked at Loki. He caught the glint of mischief in her eyes and felt his cock twitch.
“Erik! Mind yourself in front of the Queen. Apologies, Your Majesty.”  Lady Anderson stepped forward and curtsied. “All those years in the army have blunted his manners.”
“Think nothing of it.” Frigga waved her hand. “I am quite familiar with how men speak when they think we are not paying attention.”
“Who wants a drink before dinner?” Thor motioned toward the wet bar and took Lady Anderson’s arm. “My Lady?”
“Ah, you are reading my mind!” Lord Anderson followed suit and offered his arm to the Queen.
Loki and Sigyn remained behind.
“Sorry about my father, Your Highness. He is always trying to find new ways to embarrass me.”
Loki chuckled, “Your father and my brother will get along very well, it seems.”
She smiled, “Do not let me keep you from getting a drink.”
“Oh, no. I have had enough lately to last me a couple of lifetimes,” Loki smiled back.
Sigyn stepped closer to Loki’s side. She fiddled with her bracelet, not meeting his eyes. “You…you were away recently?”
“I was.” Loki kept his hands clasped behind his back. Her eyes met his when he said, “But I am back now, and I am not planning on leaving again anytime soon.”
“I am glad to hear it.” She reached up and plucked a piece of fluff from the arm of his tunic.
“Truly?” Loki followed her hand with his eyes as she let the fluff fall from her elegant fingers.
“Truly.” She clasped her hands together in front of her. Their eyes met again. She gave him a half smile. “Is the King ever on time for dinner? I am famished.”
Loki laughed, “Never.”
oOXOo
The King eventually arrived, and the group enjoyed a pleasant dinner, just the seven of them. It was a nice change of pace from eating in the dining hall. The conversation flowed easily. Lord Erik Anderson was boisterous but not obnoxiously so. He got along well with the King.
He was an excellent storyteller. He did make a few more jokes of a sexual nature with the intent of embarrassing Sigyn. Loki noted that she seemed unfazed by the remarks each time, even rolling her eyes at him at one point.
He was a large, barrel-shaped man. Not fat, but stout. Loki figured he looked like Thor would when he got to his age.
Lady Astrid Anderson was reserved. Sigyn got her beauty and grace from her mother. She was tall, and her figure was still youthful. Her frock showed off the ample curves of her breasts and hips and the flat plane of her stomach. Her face was graced with very few lines.
She asked Loki and Thor about growing up in the palace and which places in the nine realms were their favorites. Loki remembered they had lost two sons in battle and humored her as she focused her attention on the pair of princes.
Loki studied Sigyn every chance he got. She dug into her dinner with enthusiasm. Minding her table manners but not seeming to care about how much she ate, much unlike the ladies he was used to dining with, who barely ate their meals. She sipped her wine but favored her water goblet. She conversed with everyone, even the king, offering honest opinions and counterpoints.
Loki could tell she was just as educated as he was.  She was a good storyteller, just like her father, offering the group a tale of her last trip to Midgard, where she toured a sizeable indoor marketplace called a mall and watched a piece of drama that was projected onto a wall of canvas using light.
She would catch him staring at her from across the table and give him an authentic smile. What he saw in her eyes was genuine; he believed she looked happy to be here. Unless he was just fooling himself.
When Odin stood, signaling the end of dinner, everyone returned to the sitting room. The King and Queen took their leave first after some small talk. Loki grimaced involuntarily when he noticed the hungry look his mother gave his father as they made their way into the hallway.
‘I could have done without that.’ Loki thought.
“Are you feeling ill again, Your Highness?” Sigyn caught him by surprise.
“Oh,” Loki chuckled as he placed his hand on her lower back, “No, I was just remembering something unpleasant.” He quickly returned his hands behind his back. “I am feeling much better, thank you.”
Thor and His Lordship were back at the wet bar, trading stories of battles past and comparing scars.
“Would you ladies allow me to escort you back to your chambers?”
Lady Anderson looked impatiently at her husband, and he waved her on. “Don’t wait up for me, dear. I will be of no use to you this night.” Thor laughed, slapped him on the shoulder, and raised another glass of spirits.
“Honestly, Erik, we are in the presence of royalty.” She huffed and fiddled with her necklace. “Sigyn and I would be honored. Thank you, My Prince.”
“Of course, My Lady.” Loki led the women to the hallway and offered them each an elbow. He pointed out a few key pieces of art as they walked. When they reached the front doors of their guest chambers, Loki looked over and caught Sigyn staring at him.
“Thank you for the escort, Your Highness.” Lady Anderson curtsied. “We shall see you at the betrothal feast tomorrow night.”
“Rest well, My Ladies.” Loki nodded to the Lady as she made her way to the double doors.
“Come along, child,” she said as she noticed Sigyn made no move to release the prince’s arm.
“Might I take a moment, Mother?”
The Lady glanced between the pair and saw the surprise on Loki’s face. “Very well, but only a moment. I will be just inside,” she warned, shutting the door behind her.
Sigyn dropped her hand and moved to stand directly in front of Loki. She stood about half a head shorter than he did. ‘She is the perfect height to plant a kiss on her forehead.’ He imagined doing just that.
She played with her bracelet as she raised her eyes to him. “May I speak freely, Your Highness?”
“I would prefer it,” he replied, intrigued.
“You had me worried when I first arrived. Mother was beside herself, believing they had promised me to a drunkard. I was starting to believe the royal portraits I had seen of you were a farse, but your looks seem to be improving.” She grinned at him.
Loki laughed, “Oh, I am usually very swoon-worthy. Give me another day or two, and you will say that the royal painter did me no justice.”
He regarded her for a moment. “I… apologize, My Lady. I do not usually drink myself to illness. I did not handle the news of our betrothal in the most mature way. I regret that more than you can know.” He moved to place his hand on her arm but stopped himself at the last moment. “That is no reflection on you, My Lady. You are more lovely than I could have hoped for.”
“But?”
He hesitated. He was looking right into Sigyn’s big green eyes and was having trouble remembering what he was making such a fuss about.
“But I do not know if I am ready to be married.”
“I see,” Sigyn smiled at him, “You believe you will never have another day of fun once we are wed? That I will be demanding of all your precious time? That you will never get to spend time with your friends or brother again?”
Loki looked at his feet in response. Sigyn placed a finger under his chin and raised his head to look at her again. “I know that you know very little about me, and you have no reason to believe me, but I can assure you that I have no intention of forcing you to become someone you are not.”
Loki thought for a moment, not taking his eyes from hers. “How do you know that I am deserving of such grace? Hmmm? You know very little about me as well.”
“I know more than you think I do, Your Highness. Prince’s secrets are rarely secret.” She gave him a knowing smile and returned to fiddling with her bracelet.
“Is that so?” He smiled at her. She bit her lip. Loki felt a fire start in his body and let out a slow breath. He wanted to kiss her so badly.
“Lady Sigyn, tell me, what have you heard about me?” He gave her an innocent smile. He squeezed his hands tightly behind his back to avoid reaching for her.
She smirked and reached up to play with a lock of his hair. “A story for another time, perhaps. It is getting late, and my mother will drag me back inside by my ear if I do not make haste.”
Loki took her hand from his shoulder and kissed it. Then he kissed her palm and placed it on his cheek, holding it in place. He noticed her breaths pick up. Her chest rose and fell so temptingly. His skin was burning under her touch.
“Another time, then.” His voice was low and velvety, “Good night, My Lady.”
“Sweet dreams, My Prince.” Her eyes danced with mischief.
With that, Loki took his leave. Every cell in his body was aching to stay and stand beside her, but he forced himself to turn and stride quickly down the hall to the stairs.
By the time he returned to his apartment, he was grinning like a fool.
‘Pull yourself together, man.’ He chastised his reflection in the bathroom mirror. ‘She is just a woman. Just a woman, like all the rest.’ But he knew he was lying to himself as soon as he thought it. She was not just another woman. She was the woman.
She was intelligent, funny, and beautiful. ‘Could she feel the same way about me?’ he wondered. ‘You have known her less than a day. Quit acting like a schoolboy.” He scolded himself as he slipped into bed.
He rested there for a moment before he got back out again to look under his bed and check his wardrobe, just to be safe. Confident he was alone, he allowed himself to drift off to sleep.

Borrowed Time - Chapter 24
Tumblr media
FROM THE START
Chapter 24 - Too Many Questions
Excerpt:
“This is the only delivery my contact will be able to make for some time,” he warned, his voice suddenly as tired as the rest of him.
Eir nodded as if she knew exactly why. Then again she was there when Vanlandi spoke of Amora’s ransacked jail cell and she was not a fool so maybe she did.
“I have other contacts,” continued Loki, “but none as reliable as this one was. Do stress to your aides the importance of reading twice before doing once. I can’t promise a fast turn around on supplies from now on”
“Understandable. How is your back?”
“In pain. How is Jarl’s potion?”
“Simmering”
“Who among us isn’t?” shrugged Loki and added, “I have one question for you, not strictly a medical one.”

Loki’s plans to conquer and rule Midgard have come to a disastrous end. After being captured by the Avengers, he is being held on Earth. Odin has refused to interfere, and the outlook for the God of Mischief appear bleak. His only hope may lie in one mortal woman, a Psychiatric expert brought in to interrogate him.
Dr. Caroline Thorpe is intrigued by Loki and thinks that more lies beneath his actions than is commonly known. Can she find out the truth before he is shipped off to die for crimes against the Earth? And can Loki bring himself to care?

The Norns knew that Loki's patience had been tested over the years. After all, he had grown up with Thor. He liked to think that he was perfectly capable of calmly waiting for the pieces to fall into place as others struggled to catch up to realizations he had already come to long before.
That said, if Caroline and his parents did not soon join them, he was fully prepared to storm his mother's sitting room and drag them all out.
"You can pace if you like, it makes no difference to me."
Loki glared over to where the ancient Healer was sitting. He could not deny that he longed to do just as she suggested and wear a rut in the highly polished marble floor, but he refused to give in to the temptation. Not that he was fooling her or himself, of course. Between his fingers drumming on the arms of his chair and constantly adjusting the position of his legs, Loki was as fidgety as wolf pup in thunder storm.
"I am fine, thank you," was all he said, grinding his teeth when the woman gave him a look that clearly said she knew he was lying.
At least in the beginning he had been distracted as Eir rooted around in his head. The sensation had not been physically unpleasant, but Loki was far from comfortable with sharing the secrets of his mind with anyone. The woman had made small noises as she prodded with her seidr, causing odd surges of emotions he could not explain. At last, she had sighed and removed her hands from where they had been sunk into his hair.
"Not unworkable," was all she had said.
"Perhaps you could distract me," he suggested now, tilting back his heavy wooden chair to a dangerous angle. She had lived long enough, she must have stories.
"I thought that was the job of your little Midgardian girl," Eir replied.
"I did not mean... that is to say... I was not implying..."
"Relax, Princeling," Eir laughed, though not unkindly. "You are far too young for my taste."
"Just exactly how old are you?" he asked, words escaping before he could think better of them. Why did she put his so on the back foot? "Forgive me, that was unpolite of me."
"I am far too old to be offended by your asking," she said with a wave of her hand.
"Well then?" he prompted; curiosity roused.
"I don't really remember any longer," she told him with a shrug. "I have been a Healer since before Odin ascended to the throne."
"Implying you were once something else?"
"Oh, many things," she said vaguely.
"Such as?" really, could she not humor him and take his mind off of the fact that others were deciding his fate?
"A Valkyrie, for one."
"Truly?" Now that was interesting!
"You look surprised. I was not always old, you know. Yes, I was one of Bor's generals. For millennia I helped defend Asgard and its throne from all who sought to challenge it."
"From Valkyrie to Healer? That is quite a turn."
"Not as much as you might think. To take a life is easier than to save it, but to do either well requires a basis in the same basic knowledge. You must remember as well, Valkyries do not just give battle, they ferry the soles of the glorious dead to Valhalla. It is in itself a form of care for the wounded."
It made sense in a twisted sort of way. He could see it in her, too. The iron straight posture, the air of command, give her a winged horse and a Dragon Fang blade and Loki would not want to face her on the battlefield.
"So, what led to your change of heart?" he asked.
"Your grandfather declared war on the Jotunheim."
"I was told that Odin vanquished the Jotun," the Nine knew he had heard the story often enough.
"And so he did," Eir confirmed. "But that was hardly the first time the two realms went to war. Subjugation or extermination of the Frost Giants has a long history with the royal family."
"And what? You feared to face the cruel might of the Jotuns?"
"Why should I fear my own kin?"
"I beg your pardon?"
It was rare that something caught Loki completely off guard, but Eir's pronouncement, so calmly made, had his jaw dropping to the floor. He would have thought that she was jesting, but in his experience that was not in her nature. Yet she sat there so calm, returning his stare with an easy continence.
"It is not as though it was a secret," Eir shrugged. "My maternal grandmother Ygonda was a Jotun Princess. You need not look so horrified, Princeling. Such things were much more common back in the early days. My grandfather was an ambassador to the Jotunheim; we had still had diplomatic relations at the time. The story goes that one look at Ygonda and he was hopelessly besotted. It took some time, and from what I understand an intensive series of vocal lessons, but in the end, he wooed and won the Ice Princess."
"But they are so savage -"
"Asgardian propaganda," Eir waved away his characterization. "I lived with the Jotuns for quite some time in my younger days."
"You did?" even the possibility of such a thing was inconceivable in the world they lived in now.
"It was when I was in training to become a Valkyrie. I had mastered Asgardian methods of fighting, but that alone was not enough to be selected for their exalted ranks. I was a quarter Jotun, and my grandmother had long since returned to her homeland. While her marriage had been passionate, she never felt quite at home here. Our people can be less then welcoming to those who are different, even if they are royalty. I reached out to Ygonda and she was happy to welcome me into her home."
"What was it like?" Loki was fascinated.
"Strange at first, but I adapted quickly. My focus was on battle and fighting techniques, of course. I was not as large as they were, of course, but I was fast. They taught me how to fight with the spears they prefer, and how to over awe your enemy. On top of that, I was enthralled by their healing magic. It was the first time I had ever dabbled in the restorative arts, and I loved the challenge it provided, a battle of its own you might say."
"I never even suspected," Loki shook his head as he stared at her.
"It is not something I advertise these days, relations between the two realms being what they were. When I was forced to choose sides, I realized that as much as I loved my Jotun family, my home was on Asgard. That being said, I am aware of how small-minded our people can be. Asgardians are proud, and not quick to be welcoming to anyone seen as different."
Loki knew firsthand how true that could be. He was a Prince of the Realm and yet he had never felt welcomed by his people. How much harder must it have been for someone of another race all together?
He took a long, hard look at Eir now. She had always seemed a giant to him, if not in the literal sense. There was a slight bluish tint to her skin, and if he looked for it, he could just make out raised lines on her forehead. A Frost Giant, here among the Gods on Asgard? He never would have thought it possible.
A wave of vertigo swept through him, causing him to lower his head into his hands.
"Prince Loki, are you quite well?" she asked.
"Fine," he said shortly. "But the sooner we fix whatever it is that is wrong with my memory, the happier I will be."
"I hope you are correct," she said. After a moment, she added "If, when we are finished with your procedure, you find yourself in need of a friendly ear, my office is always open to you."
"Why?" he asked, taken aback.
"I have always thought you were worth more than most of the youth of Asgard," she told him. "In a few millennia, you might even make a competent healer."
From anyone else he would have been offended, but he was aware enough to realize that for Eir this was the height of flattery.
"I will keep that in mind," he said with a nod. "If I don't go mad waiting for the others to join us."
"I forget sometimes what it is like to be young," she said with a sigh. "I am extremely glad I am past those days."
Loki almost wished that he was past them as well. Giving up his best intentions, he pushed himself from the chair. Eir had opened herself up to him, he no longer felt the need to hide his own feelings. Pushing his hair back from his high forehead, he began to pace the bounds of the room.
***
"Finally!"
Caroline had barely stepped in the room when Loki pounced at them. He had been on his feet, and from the looks of him he was about to tear the room apart. He walked towards her now, claiming her hands and bringing them to his lips to kiss her knuckles. Oh, she was a sucker for that!
"Sorry it took so long," she said, voice sounding a bit flustered even from that relatively innocent contact.
"Well?" he demanded, looking from her to where his parents stood tall beside her.
"I do not like this," Odin pronounced, as usual speaking louder than room required. She was beginning to see where Thor's way of speaking came from. "In my view of things, this loss of memory is a blessing. If you have indeed been tortured as this woman has led us to believe, why would you wish to recall such a thing?"
"I believe I can blur the worst of his pain," Eir spoke before Loki could form an answer.
Caroline was glad for the Healer's intervention. She had used everything she could think of to persuade the God, but Odin had been reluctant at best to go along with the path everyone else saw as the obvious choice. Finally, with Frigga's help, she had gotten him to the point where he agreed to allow Loki and Eir to decide. She only hoped he would stick with that decision long enough for the procedure to take place.
"What do you have in mind?" Frigga asked, looping her hand through her husband's arm.
"Now that I know that the Mind Stone was the cause of much of his torment, I can filter through his thoughts looking for its signature overriding his own brain pathways. Once I have that time period isolated, I can completely remove the block we placed on either side of it."
"I want to remember all of it," Loki insisted stubbornly.
"I am getting to that," Eir told him. "With your mother's help, I believe I can lift the mental block while leaving the emotional dampening in place. This will allow the prince to recall the facts of his past without the hurt he suffered."
"That sounds ideal!" Caroline beamed at the old Goddess.
"Excellent, let's do that then. When do we start?" Loki asked, eagerness written all over him.
"Not in the middle of the night," Frigga admonished him.
"We are all here now," Loki protested.
"I am not going to perform, or even assist on, work on my son's brain at anything less than one hundred percent. You will also want to be at your strongest, fully rested, for the procedure. I suggest we all get as much rest as remains this night and meet in Eir's offices tomorrow at midday."
"That is acceptable," Eir nodded. "Your Majesties, Princeling, I bid you goodnight."
Caroline tried not to be offended that she was completely left out of the woman's farewells. After all, she was hardly royalty. Still, she was hopeful that Loki would not want to linger here once he was back in possession of his memories. Assuming, of course, that he still wanted to remain with her at that point.
"You will think carefully about this, Loki," Odin instructed, glaring at his son. "There is still time to change your mind."
"My mind is set."
"Why don't you go get some sleep," Frigga suggested again, clearly wanting to hold off any impending arguments.
"Very well," Loki sighed, offering her is arm. "Caroline?"
"Hold!" Odin snapped. "You will not bring that woman back to your chambers."
"You can't be serious!" Loki bristled.
"This is the Royal Palace of Asgard, not a village tavern. She has no place here. Your mother can find her a bed in the servant's hall."
"Odin," Frigga pleaded.
"Caroline is not a servant," Loki insisted. "She is my intended."
Well, that was news to Caroline! And to Loki's true self, if it came down to it. Yes, he cared for her, but they had hardly had time to discuss anything of any permanence. Despite all of these mental protestations, Caroline could not help the thrill that passed through her as he spoke the hot, possessive words.
"She is no such thing! Such an idea is the height of lunacy. A phoenix does not mate with a moth after all."
"I love her, father."
"You don't even know her!"
"Even still."
"Loki, it is alright," Caroline said, swallowing a lump in her throat.
As angry as she was at Odin's treatment of her, she did not want to antagonize him to the point where he changed his mind on Loki's procedure. They just had to get his memories restored, and then they could escape from Asgard and Loki's tyrant of a father.
"It is not alright. I will not have you disrespected."
"Perhaps a compromise," Frigga once more attempted to play peacemaker. "Caroline is a guest, and as such I agree with Loki that it would not be suitable to lodge her with the servants. However, Loki needs all the rest he can get. I will therefore have a guest chamber prepared for her. It should not take more than a few moments."
"I will sleep better with her beside me."
Caroline loved the intention behind his declaration, but she knew that in this case it might actually not be true. It had been hard enough to keep him at arm's length earlier, if they spent all night (or what remained of it) pressed against each other, how long until her resistance gave way, and she threw herself on top of him?
"As much as I want to be there," she said, looking up into his eyes, "your mother is right. When I am next in your arms, I do not intend for either of us to get any rest at all."
It was a bold statement, particularly spoken as it was in front of his very disapproving father, but Caroline knew her Prince. A heat kindled in his eyes and she felt his pulse quicken to match hers. She could not be sure, but she almost thought she heard a rumbling noise like a growl deep in his chest.
"Very well," he said at last. "I expect the room that she is given to be suitable for one of the highest rank."
"Of course," Frigga agreed quickly. "Caroline, if you come with me, I will escort you."
Caroline gave a small gasp as, ignoring his mother for the moment, Loki pulled her into his arms. His kiss was slow, long, and hot, promising all sorts of things that she could not wait to collect on. Part way through, she vaguely heard Odin snort and storm out of the room, but she could barely be bothered to notice, so consumed was she with Loki's embrace.
"You have made your point, and he is gone," Frigga said at last.
Caroline sighed with regret as Loki pulled back at last placing one last chaste kiss to her nose.
"That was not to make a point," Loki spoke in a raspy voice, eyes locked with Caroline's. "That was to make a promise. Sleep well, my love. It will be your last alone.
For those interested, I did some research on Eir before writing this chapter. It turns out that in myths she is referenced at different points as being a Valkyrie and being Jotun. This seemed such a wonderful opportunity for this story, I just had to give her this history here.

You take some puzzle books and shove them into your bag along with some coloring books and markers. Where you’re going is known to have spotty Wi-Fi service despite you having the best service, so you’re making sure to bring something to do when you can’t get online. The last thing you put into your bag is noise-canceling headphones so you don’t have to listen to Loki yap the whole time.
The thought of him makes you so angry. You slam your headphones into your bag and zip it up angrily. You’re more than happy to go on missions for the team, but you’re not happy with going on missions that Loki is going on. Even worse, you two are going to be alone for this one. This is a highly sensitive mission that can only have a couple of people on it, and they chose you and him.
You haul your bag to the living room where Natasha and Tony are waiting for you. Loki is still getting ready but he can take his fucking time. You don’t like Loki and you’re not shy about it. Everyone, including him, knows your dislike for him.
“Where’s the fire?” Nat asks when you stomp past her.
“I don’t know why I’m going on this mission. Why can’t you go?”
“You can hack your way through anything. Right now, we need that skill. I’m not a hacker. I kill things to get what I want. You sneak in the back door.”
“Okay, why does he have to go?”
“He’s a master of illusions. You’re the perfect pair.”
“Don’t call us that,” you roll your eyes. “It’s bad enough I have to go with him, but going alone? Why do I have to be alone with him? Come with us.”
“You know why we can’t. The less people, the better. It’s only for a week. You can handle being with him for a week. I’ll even take your next two missions for you.”
“Fine,” you sigh. “Let’s get this over with. Loki! Hurry up!”
Loki appears seconds after you call him with his bag slung over his shoulder. He knows you don’t like him. You make sure everyone knows it whenever you’re within close proximity to him. He doesn't feed into your dislike because that would only egg you on so he silently takes whatever you give to him. It’s cute how angry you can get at him.
Your anger is justifiable. After all, he is the one who fucked with New York and brought an alien race to kill humans. He took Clint and used him as a puppet for his own greed. He killed eighty people in two days. He’s the one who let the Dark Elves into Asgard, causing a war to be brought to Earth. He’s not a good person despite him telling you over and over again that the mind stone influenced him for most of it.
“Have fun, you two,” Tony smirks, “but not too much fun.”
“Gag me,” you roll your eyes. “It’s not going to happen.”
You take your bag to the car while Loki stays behind with Nat and Tony.
“Be gentle with her. I don’t need her coming back in pieces.”
“I’ll check in in a few days,” Loki chuckles and walks out to the car. You fit your bag in the trunk leaving just enough room for Loki’s bag. He heaves it into the car and shuts the trunk. “Give me the keys.”
“Hell no. I’m driving.”
“Darling, you’re a terrible driver.”
“No, I’m not, and I’m not going to let you drive. I don’t trust you behind the wheel with my life in your hands. I’m driving and you can back the fuck off.”
Loki could have won this entire argument if he wanted to, but he’ll let you have this one. If you two are going to be stuck with each other for a week, he’s gonna have to pick his battles around you. This won’t be the only fight and it certainly isn’t the last.
You two pile into the car, and you’re off. Loki turns to you to say something but you immediately turn the music on so you can’t hear him. Loki sighs and lets you have your tantrum, but he does want to talk to you. He lowers the music to speak but you cut him off.
“Let’s get one thing straight, shall we? We’re doing this mission together but that’s all this is. The mission. I don’t want to talk to you unless it’s work-related. Got it?”
“You’ve got to talk to me sooner or later about something else.”
“I choose later,” you smile sweetly and turn the music up again.
Tony is responsible for your shelter and he picks the worst fucking place on the planet. The motel he chose is run-down and old with the sidewalk chopped up, the paint in the parking lots is so faded it’s hard to tell where the next parking spot is, the building looks like it’s going to collapse any second, and the numbers on the doors are no longer there. Only a faded shadow of what was.
The inside isn’t much better, but what did you expect? The people you’re targeting are weapons dealers who choose places like this for a reason. No one would go looking for someone if they were here. Tony is one of your good friends but you’ve always hated his sense of humor. If you call him now, he’s going to say it’s a mistake on his part because there is only one bed. One bed that you and Loki have to share.
“Are you fucking kidding me?” you huff out in anger.
“It’s only a bed, love,” Loki says and walks inside.
“I’m sleeping on the floor.”
“Be my guest.”
It’s already too late to do anything so you two get ready for bed. You grab two pillows and drop them on the floor. This isn’t going to be very comfortable but you’ll do it if it means not sharing a bed with Loki. After you brush your teeth, Loki prepares to take a shower. He closes the door before he gets undressed, and you glance over in curiosity. He hasn’t closed the door all the way so you can see him through the sliver.
His back is turned to you but damn, it’s a muscular back. He may be lean but he has well-defined muscles. Thor likes to show his off while Loki is more reserved. His pale skin glistens in the dim glow of the bathroom light, and you look away before he catches you staring. Yes, he’s quite handsome for a God. You’re not blind, you have eyes. No, stop it. He’s a bad person. He’s not handsome.
You shake your head and grab the top blanket layer on the bed to get comfortable. Your back is going to hurt the whole time you’re here but you refuse to sleep on the same bed as him. Loki finishes his shower quickly and quickly changes into silk pajamas. Of course, this motherfucker would have silk pajamas.
He walks out as he’s drying his hair and scoffs when he sees you on the ground.
“Really? You’re going to sleep on the floor?”
“Yes, now go to bed.”
“You can have the bed.”
“No, you take it. I’m fine down here,” you say stubbornly.
Loki sighs and doesn't argue as he gets into bed. An hour after the lights are out, you’re no closer to sleep than you were before. Every time you move, you end up knocking some part of your body onto the cold ground, and it’s starting to piss Loki off.
“Darling, come up here,” Loki finally says.
“No.”
“I will pick you up off this floor and tie you to the bed if you don’t get in it yourself.” If you’re being honest, the thought turns you on. He will make good on his promise so you stand up and transfer the pillows and blanket to the bed. You get in it but stay at the very edge. There is no way you’re going to be touching him in any way. “You’re being a child.”
“Shut up and go to bed.” You close your eyes to get some sleep when you feel his cold hand on your skin. Chills run down your spine but you’re not sure if it’s from how cold he is or if you’re turned on. You quickly slap his hand away before you get your answer. “Don’t touch me.”
Loki chuckles and lays on his back. An hour later, he can hear your soft snores that he finds adorable. Knowing he’s safe, he grabs your waist and pulls you into him. Subconsciously, you snuggle into him which makes him smile. He runs the back of his finger down your cheek gently so as to not wake you up.
“God, if only you knew what you did to me,” he mutters.
He has to find a way to make you see he’s not a bad guy, and he’ll do it for the rest of his life if that’s what it takes.

Incubus Loki and his witchy wife have a very naughty anniversary
Tumblr media
Ignoring the order given to her to stay still, Nora pushed her sopping hair away from her eyes, wiped the back of her hand on her wet lower lip, and looked up.
“You are a very contrary creature, witch.”
The voice was as clean and smooth as the facet of a diamond, save a little purr at the end.  As if it was pleased that she has been disobedient.  Or, rather, as there would be pleasures to be found because she had disobeyed.
The dim light from candle sconces high on the walls that had been carved too straight and too true out of black stone did Nora’s merely human eyesight the favor of leaving most of the demonic creatures that writhed in perfect silence around the massive space to her imagination
Or perhaps not.  Her imagination had always been a bit too wild for the good of her sanity, particularly at the moment.  That she could see the suggestions of motion, could smell the musky, smoky, meaty funk coming from them, feel the rising temperature from body heat and bodies in heat, made her mind fill in all sorts of terrible details that may or may not have been worse than the reality that was only barely visible to her in the reddish air.
Worse, she hoped silently, I really hope what I am thinking is way worse.
The only properly illuminated spot was where the Master of the Revels sat, where she kneeled before him.
Lounging upon a throne made of rusted iron and bones of things that Nora couldn’t name and draped with a thick, black fur, he leaned forward, one elbow resting on a right knee that was unnaturally far spread from the left, while his back was bowed forward slightly too far.  As if his hips, his pelvis, and his spine were subtly different than that of other human ish beings, as if to allow for wider ranges of motion than were typical.
His head cocked to the left to take her in.  Very far to the left, again, showing a more than typical range of possible movements.  Unblinking, he lifted and stretched out his left leg very, very slowly, so she could see each effortless play of muscle in his bare, pale blue torso, in his thigh that was covered in thin leather.  Not needing to stretch, his legs being very long, eventually, after enough time that Nora’s knees hurt, her entire body ached in conflicting ways, the tip of his shining, cloven hoof touched the soft place under her chin, lifting it higher, prouder, until she had to raise herself up, so her knees barely touched the ground to keep from being pierced.
Twisting his ankle from side to side he turned her face to the left and right, humming a bit.
A bit of blood, no more than a thread’s width, rolled down her neck and down his hoof.
Her thighs burned.
“You are not the prettiest witch I’ve had on her knees, yet you are fetching.  In your way.”
In that beautiful voice, now smoky with thoughtfulness, what he said was both an insult and a compliment.
Quicker than a viper, he pulled his leg back and Nora fell onto her hands, barely catching herself before her lips brushed the place where his lower, goat’s leg met his hoof.
The rough stone floor scraped her palms.
That was it.  She was irked now.
Standing up, arms akimbo - and hiding a wince from those abraided palms slapping onto her hips - Nora met his burning eyes.  “Alright, Loki, can we stop fucking around and go home now?”
He laughed, not the low, ratcheting laugh she knew but an opened-mouthed howl of cruel mirth.  “Oh, little witch, the ‘fucking around’ never stops here,” he waved a loose hand about at the masses.  “At least, until those doing the fucking stop entirely.”
It wasn’t a little game, she realized then.
“Oh for Gods’ sakes!  What is this?  Memory loss?  Wasn’t this bad enough when it happened to me?”
The laughter stopped, “I don’t care for that kind of language, my little wife,” he snapped.
Not memory loss, then.  Something weirder.
Something worse.
In that same instant of realization, all of the sounds from around her that had been silenced by his earlier command recommenced.  Moaning, gasping, slapping, screaming, crying, begging, pleading, wet sounds, impact sounds, broken sounds, sounds that she feared what made them and other sounds where she feared even more what caused them, deafened her but even above that discordance, Loki’s unraised voice was perfectly clear.
“Take her.”
Nora couldn’t count the number of hands that pulled her into the mass of bodies.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Three days earlier…
It was almost Halloween, a time of both celebration and trepidation in Loki and Nora’s household.
Halloween had brought them together, more than once. They had fallen in love on Halloween, or at least had consummated the part of their relationship that had gone from physical to metaphysical.  Nora had proposed to him on Halloween. They had married on Halloween.
Yet it had also caused any number of problems for them.  Loki’s failed return to his pre-lapsed state.  Nora’s near-permanent memory loss.  That thing with the goblins…  The fire.  The other thing with the other goblins…
The last few years had been peaceful enough.  No unwanted visitors or burning.  Just far too much candy since sadly for Nora, most of the children in their neighborhood were too afraid to come to their door, even with the enticement of full-sized chocolate bars and elaborate little Japanese toys for the allergic, a few witchy rituals, and a great deal of slow, ceremonial sex magic in the flickering glow of the horror movie marathon Loki personally curated every year.
There was no better version of Dracula , or even Night of the Living Dead , than the ones that had been given his special touch.
That very peacefulness was what gave Loki pause.  The two sides of his being both believed that on a day of questionable omen if things had gone well for a certain frame of time then it was a certainty that they would also go wrong for an equal frame of time.
Or worse, they would make up the difference all at once.
Nora had waved away his concerns, mostly because it was a busy time of year for her and the Witch’s council and she had asked him to decorate, probably to keep him occupied so he would not brood or worry.  As if he were unaware of her pitiful attempt at subterfuge, and as if he could not brood and worry and design perfect decor all at once.
What manner of creature did she think she was married to?
Still, Loki thought as he sat down for a well-deserved rest after letting his angelic half go mad with cleaning and decorating their bungalow for All Hallow’s Eve, it was their anniversary and that alone meant that even though he knew he was right he also knew they needed to celebrate.
A glass of purple-red wine appeared in his hand as Loki surveilled his good work.
He’d chosen a mid-century theme this year, which meant entirely new furniture, with a half-circle sofa of black with orange pillows, a kidney-shaped coffee table covered with a few pillar candles and a streamlined sculpture of a cat with an arched-back carved from obsidian.  The thick center rug was patterned with a few large, fall leaves broken down to geometric shapes and matched the curtains.
Here and there a jack-o-lantern carved with wicked faces dotted the various surfaces, a drinks cart was entwined with bat wings, and around the ceiling were perfectly straight lines of lights shaped like classic ghosts.  Even the tv had been replaced with a Philco-tv, though of a size never dreamt of in the era of the cathode-ray tube.
Loki snapped his fingers at it and the Vampira show - unseen by mortal eyes since 1954 - flicked on.  Now there was a woman he rather missed having the opportunity to pleasure, back when his cock was available to anyone other than Nora.
Upstairs he could hear Nora enacting a ritual over Zoom, her low, musical voice perfuming the air.  Out of doors, the scent of leaf fires and the tossing of brightly bedecked tree branches pleased the angelic side of him, whilst the idea of dressing his treasured witch in Vampira’s costume and fucking her against the cabinet hi-fi whilst -
There was a knock at the door.
A single knock.
Firm.  Not loud.  Not heavy.  On the wood and not the glass.
Loki stood and turned towards the door which swung open.
Nothing was on the other side of it.
Not the porch, not the yard, nothing and nothing within that nothing, which he calmly strolled into, the door closing behind him.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“Who was th-”
Nora stopped on the stairs, almost falling as her tennis shoes skidded on their weirdly slick surface.
She grabbed the railing.  It was freezing.
More than freezing, it was covered in ice.
She thought she’d heard someone at the door while they were at the highest point of the ritual.  If they were a normal household it might have been kids fucking around in anticipation of the holiday, but not even the brattiest kids or annoying or dangerous ones in their neighborhood came to their door.  It could have been a delivery, with their seventh anniversary approaching they’d been getting a lot of packages.
No one they knew in the mystical world wanted to miss a chance to suck up either one of them.
The living room, which Loki had almost been done decorating when she went upstairs, was freezing cold.  Far colder than it was outside.  Cold enough that a thin rime of frost covered the windows, the floor, every surface, stepping into the living room even the rug crunched under her feet.
Everything was gray with frost and the room felt empty despite the evidence of Loki’s work.
“Loki?”
She called out, going into the kitchen.
He was not there either.  But the frost was.  And that empty feeling, even though Claire the Cat had been sleeping on the kitchen table.  She woke with a stretch, then yowled at the cold and jumped into Nora’s arms, burrowing into her sweater.
“Loki?” Nora called out again, even though she knew she wouldn’t be answered.
Pulling out one of the chairs from under the table, the sound of its legs cutting through the frost loud in the empty-feeling space, Nora sat down hard and hugged Claire to her, telling her everything would be fine.

You and Loki ran towards the screaming. Your heart leapt in your throat. Was there no end to this bullshit? Your headache from earlier only increased tenfold. The shrill, loud screaming grated on your nerves. Working here was becoming a dangerous hazard. Once you found this blasted saboteur, you’d have to worry about people leaving this job.
Responsibilities were starting to stack like those colorful block things Midgard children played with. The blocks would topple soon though. Some errant wind or careless leg would crash into it and bring the whole thing crashing down.
Would you survive it?
The screaming was coming from the Helheim room. Patrons and performers were leaving the room, shrieking with a terror reserved for their worst nightmares. The entrance was surrounded by dark smoke but there were no alarms and the sprinklers weren’t on. Was it a fire?
You took a deep breath but didn’t feel anything burning. You attempted to enter, but Loki held you back. “I don’t like the way this looks,” he said. His calculating sapphire eyes took in the entrance and the people spilling out of it, but you didn’t see two of your performers.
There was still so much screaming. You were not one to ignore it. You constructed two batons in your hands and rushed inside anyway with Loki calling after you.
The smoke was thick. Tangible in a way that let you know that magic was afoot. You called out for the staff members that were assigned to the room at the time. “Sweetie! Baby!”
Yes, you knew the names were stupid. But Loki was terrible with names and it provided an extra layer of mystery for the patrons. Not to mention privacy. There were too many drunk tourists that you had to kick out for trying to get handsy with your wait staff.
“Darling!” Loki called after you. You looked behind you but the smoke was too thick. Too cloying. You breathed it in and it was like sweet fog from a fog machine, except thicker and blacker. The dark decor in the room did little to help. The fog obscured everything. You couldn’t see two inches from your nose.
You coughed around the thick fog, grunting every few minutes as you ran into a table or a chair. You didn’t know how far you traveled into the room or where you were. “Call out!” You yelled.
“Oh gods!”
You turned to the sound. “Call out!” You yelled again. You moved to your right. If you only traveled a few feet in the room, you should be approaching the small bar area. Your stomach crashed into the corner and air whooshed out of you in a painful sigh.
You clutched your stomach and dissolved one of the batons. You checked your stomach by feeling alone. It didn’t seem broken. And nothing cut you, you hoped.
“Darling!” Loki’s voice echoed.
“Loki!” You yelled.
You coughed. The fog in the room seemed to get thicker, crawling into every nook and cranny that you possessed. It went up your nose, down your throat. It burned your eyes. The coughing only got worse as you uselessly searched for your employees.
Flashes of green light turned your attention to the far left side of the room. Whatever Loki was attempting, it did little to combat the fog. However, it was a beacon that you stumbled towards. You held out your hands to try and avoid obstacles or getting hurt in the process.
Screaming from outside of the room was still driving your headache up the wall. Everything hurt. Your heart, your head, your eyeballs. The green light continued to flicker every so often. The more you walked towards it, the more it bobbed away at the last moment.
“Loki!” You called out.
“Darling!” Loki sounded like he was behind you, distant. The flickering green light was in front of you.
The fog must be playing tricks on you. You coughed, trying to clear it from your mouth but the chemical taste remained. “Loki!”
The green light hovered mere feet away. You reached out your hand, prepared to grab a piece of Loki’s suit. An arm or Hel, you’d take a leg at this point. When your hand swiped through the light, Sweetie appeared.
Her eyes glowed green, a twisted visage of anger. You screamed and tripped back, crashing over a chair, and falling into the ground with a painful thud.
“Is this all the attention I’m worth, Loki?” Sweetie asked. Her voice sounded amplified as if she were speaking through the stereo system in the room.
“I leave you clues to know who I am and yet all you concern yourself with is your pet?” Sweetie moved in an angry line, pacing back and forth like a warrior gearing up for a fight with a frost giant.
“Why the games? Why not reveal yourself?” You heard Loki but you didn’t see him.
Another pair of glowing green eyes emerged from the dark fog. Baby. She joined Sweetie as they paced, of one mind and body. Similar to those jerks who attacked the club.
“I want to see the look on your face when you figure it out. Until then, the fun must continue. But I will not be ignored!” Sweetie and Baby spoke in unison. It was creepy. It was wrong.
Pain bloomed up your leg but you had to get up. You had to help. You got to your feet and limped towards your employees. “Sweetie!” You grabbed her hand and shook her, trying to get her attention. She had to still be in there.
Sweetie - or whoever was controlling Sweetie - tilted her head at you. Her hand came up to gently caress your cheek.
“He will break you too,” she said, softly.
“Sweetie, I know you’re in there. Fight it!” You yelled. You shook Sweetie but she remained stiff, strong, and unyielding.
“It’s what he does. And you will help my revenge,” she said. The fuck was that supposed to mean?
You moved around her, heading towards Baby. Either she closed her eyes or the entity left her because the green light went out and you could no longer see. You coughed and spread out your hands, waving your remaining baton. You didn’t want to hit either one, but maybe pain helped.
A strong hand gripped your neck and you screamed, turning to bring your baton down. Thanos emerged from the fog, like a devilish mountain. He grinned, his purple face transforming into a satisfied smirk.
He moved methodically around the space, illuminated by some inner glow to where you could see everything. Icy fear wrapped a bony hand around your heart and squeezed painfully. You stumbled away from Thanos.
Gold glinted off of his gauntlet. The monstrosity was half complete, filled with glowing rocks around the knuckles. “It should have been you,” he said, kindly. Patiently. You hated that most of all about him. The way he spoke as if this was some divine duty he had to perform and not the massacre it was.
You couldn’t breathe. Combined with the thick fog, your head swam. The lack of oxygen made your steps falter. You backed away and couldn’t take your eyes off of Thanos. You tripped over something and fell hard on your ass. You patted the ground around you and clutched fabric.
The lump you tripped over felt like a body. A man by the feel of it. He wasn’t moving or breathing. Thanos continued his slow steps towards you. “It should have been you,” he said.
Tears sprang to your eyes but did little to obscure his face. That terrible face that haunted your every waking moment. Your dreams. Your thoughts. Beside him, a figure emerged.
“No,” you gasped. Your friend, the one Thanos snapped away, stood beside Thanos as if she were his daughter. She leaned her head on his thick, protruding arm.
“It should have been you instead of me,” she said. Her voice was just as you remembered. Clear and loud as a bell. Soft and feminine. She had thick ropes of dark hair, a small elven face, skin like butterscotch. She used to read those silly little pamphlets out loud to you while you walked to the playhouse. Gods, you missed the playhouse. You missed her.
Tears flowed freely now. You had thought of her so often, but her image had started to fade away. Asgard didn’t have those…camera things that Midgard had. There was no way to capture someone’s image except by painting their picture.
Silly commonfolk like you and her didn’t have need for such things. Asgard seemed endless. Like a paradise in the universe. You had forever with her. Forever to live. And it was savagely ripped away.
“It’s time to right that wrong,” Thanos said, bunching up his brow. He was so hideous. Disgusting. Hairless and cruel.
“It’s time for you to die this time,” your best friend, Erian, said. Even thinking her name hurt.
“No, no, no, I’m sorry!” You screamed.
“Darling!” Loki’s voice was a distant buzz that faded too quickly. Your thoughts were wholly on Thanos and Erian walking beside him.
You scooted along the floor. You knew better than to turn your back on an enemy but you flipped over and crawled along the floor. Your tears were a haunting, ugly thing leaking from your eyes. Snot dripped from your nose.
“I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I’m sorry,” you mumbled.
“Look how she cowers. You’re a craven, rotten piece of trash,” Erian said.
“I know,” you whispered. Your fingers gripped the disgusting floor as you pulled yourself towards the direction of the door. There was a faint, pale light there. Your head continued to swim. A painful throbbing made your eyes ache. Your throat burning from your mumblings and apologies and the thick fog.
“Stop this, at once!” Loki’s voice was still too far away. You were alone. Alone.
You would always be alone. You were too stupid, too weak, too desperate to do things right that it only turned out wrong. You couldn’t take care of your siblings. You couldn’t find your family. You couldn’t take care of the club and deduce who the saboteur was. You couldn’t get Loki to admit his feelings. And now Thanos has returned.
How did he find you? How did he know? Could he scent your uselessness across the galaxy? Had he realized his mistake? That he should have taken you and not Erian?
You didn’t know what force propelled you forward. You longed to stop crawling. To let him take you. To let him trade your life for Erian’s. Still you moved forward. Cravens still had a tiny drive for self-preservation. Some ancient, deep knowledge in your bones told you to move forward and escape the danger.
Thanos’ taunting laugh made you shriek with fear. Your heart felt like it was going to shrivel in your chest. You didn’t have enough air to breathe let alone scream out for help. Who in the world would help you?
Loki. Loki would help.
All Loki cared about was himself. He was more interested in owning you, torturing you, than ever seeing you as a true partner. How could you think such a thing? That you were worthy of a god?
You weren’t even worthy of the skin you occupied. “I’m sorry, Im sorry,” you cried.
“Do you think I want your apology?” Erian asked. Her soft voice sounded wrong. Twisted. Cruel.
Sobs wracked your body, making you shiver with fear. You didn’t want to be crushed under Thanos’ thumb. You thought you’d die doing something else. Perhaps in old age or in a fight. Perhaps by your own construct if anyone ever got the better of you. Not like this. Not like this.
Your thoughts were violently pulled back to the day on the ship when Thanos attacked. How his minions showed no mercy. No capability of the sort. Thor tried to fight but after dealing with Hela and Surtur, not to mention the total and complete destruction of your homeworld, he was powerless to stop him.
Thor, the golden Prince who summoned lightning, was powerless. It was laughable if it weren’t so sad. Loki attempted to fight him as well, going so far as to summon a knife to drive into Thanos’ neck. The gauntlet prevented him from doing so and Thanos blasted him against the ship’s hull, knocking him out.
Thanos’ minions separated the rest of your people. You could smell the fear and despair in the air. There was misery and heartbreak aplenty. You clutched Erian’s hand in yours, desperate to stick together.
You watched his minions shove people back and forth but they were paying more attention to the other side. You pushed Erian. You pushed for her to go to the other side so she would be safe. She cried and shook her head. You needed her to survive.
You tried to push your siblings as well but they clung to you instead. You tried to join Erian but there were too many hulking beings in your way. One such creature shoved you back to your side. Without warning, they turned their blasters to the opposite side and began firing.
“No!” Your scream only joined the ones on your side. The lucky ones. You watched Erian crumple into a heap on the floor and you screamed and you screamed and you screamed.
You finally reached the entrance to the Helheim room and crawled out into the hallway. There were others there, lost in some kind of trance. Your staff’s eyes glowed green as they stalked through the halls.
The black smoke spread to the other rooms, invading like a malevolent parasite. People screamed and coughed. Pandemonium raced through the club as muzak played an upbeat song, mocking the current situation.
“Coward,” Erian said.
“Pathetic,” Thanos said.
You were a coward. You were pathetic. You were responsible for your best friend dying. You heard someone calling your name but you were useless. You crawled with no destination in mind as Thanos’ boots thundered behind you.
Didn’t anyone see him? Didn’t anyone hear them? Was that why everyone was screaming? Thanos’ minions must be in the club terrorizing your staff and patrons. No one would ever want to come here again.
A keening whine left you. You cried and cried but there was no one to help. Nothing to do but wait for Thanos to catch up to you and finish what he started on that ship.
Hands gripped your arms and tried to pull. You still had no air to scream. You fought whoever it was, fought to get away. If it was Erian, you didn’t want to go with her. She was free now. She could escape.
“Darling, Darling,” you heard.
You were flipped over. Loki’s face swam in your eyes and you reeled away from him. “Loki, look out!” You yelled. Thanos hovered behind him. Thanos approached and smiled, bringing his gauntlet across his chest.
“No! No! No! Not him! Take me!” You yelled with a raw, singed throat. You fought with Loki, fought to climb to your knees.
“Darling, gods,” Loki breathed. He tried to hug you or press you to his chest. You fought him. You fought him with what little remaining strength you had left.
“Take me! Take me! Take me!” You said, over and over. A prayer to the ancestors in Valhalla. You could not enter like this. Not dying feebly on the ground unwilling to protect yourself. You didn’t care. You’d spend eternity in Hel if it meant that Loki was alive and safe and whole.
One of the stones on his gauntlet glowed a bright purple. Your head felt like it was being squeezed like a watermelon. You yelled, voice rough from overuse and passed out to the sound of Loki calling your name.
Tumblr media
Sound was the first to reach you. Soft murmuring that sounded like prayer roused you and you turned to the sound. If this was Hel, it was awfully cold. You made a noise.
Gods, you hurt. All over. Your fingers especially.
“Darling,” you heard.
Your mouth was dry. You smacked your lips trying to work up some saliva to clear it but it was still too scratchy and raw. “Cold,” you said.
A moment later, a blanket was draped over you. You sighed.
“Darling, open your eyes. Please.”
The only person who called you Darling was Loki. And he was safe on Midgard. If you heard his voice, that must mean he was dragged to Hel with you. Your consciousness swam to the surface, fighting to get to him.
“Safe,” you mumbled.
Loki gripped your hand and delicately kissed your fingers one by one. “Please,” he whispered.
You were trying. Your eyes were glued shut. You tried with all of your might and was able to crack one eye open. The crust in your eye pulled your eyelashes painfully but you persisted.
Loki smiled softly. “Thank you, Mother,” he sighed against you. He leaned his head down towards your chest and rested his cheek against you.
“What…”
“Shh, shh, you’re safe,” he said. He lifted his head and scooted closer to you. He looked haggard. Haunted. His eyes were sunken in, ringed in dark purple ridges from lack of sleep. He grasped your hand in his, rubbing his thumb softly against your skin. He leaned down and kissed your thumb.
You searched his eyes. “Hel?” You asked.
He grinned. “No. You’re alive. You’re alive,” he sighed, relief flooding his tone.
You bobbed your head and it swam, roiled. You dry heaved and Loki shushed you, rubbing your hand. He told you not to move, that you were safe and sound in his office.
Tears gathered in your eyes. “Club?”
Loki used his other hand to gently wipe away your tears. “No one’s dead. The club stands. Figures you would be more worried about that than yourself,” he said.
His voice was soothing, working to bring you more and more to the present. You looked down at your combined hands. He was pale and practically shaking.
“Loki?” You rasped.
“You fucking scared me, Darling,” he breathed against your hand.
You licked your lips and groaned at how dry they were. What the hell happened? Sleep tugged at you however, your body too stiff and achy to deal with the present.
“Sleep, Darling. I will be here when you wake,” he said.
“Mkay,” you mumbled. Sleep claiming you once more.
The second time around, you were able to wake up with less difficulty. True to his word, Loki sat on the floor by his couch. His dark hair was disheveled and plastered all over his face. His suit was dusty and chalky as if he walked through plaster.
He rested his cheek against the couch cushion, still holding your hand. This couldn’t have been comfortable for him. You watched him anyway before you woke him up. He looked like he needed sleep.
You wanted to reach out and brush his hair from his face. Even the thought of moving hurt. Gods, you ached.
As if Loki sensed your desire to move, he slowly blinked his eyes open. He smiled when his gaze connected with yours.
“How are you feeling?” Loki asked.
“Like Hel spat me back out,” you croaked.
Loki laughed and kissed your hand. “Everyone is safe. The club is safe,” he said, already knowing the direction of your thoughts.
“What happened?” You asked.
Loki took a deep breath and told you about the fog that induced fear. Whatever you saw, whatever you heard, it was a hallucination. The fog affected everyone. Loki sent them home until further notice. Loki caught the shiver that ran through you at the mention of what you saw. Thanos was just an illusion?
“I won’t ask what you saw. But you kept screaming for them to take you. What did you mean?”
You took a deep breath and rolled your bottom lip between your teeth. “I didn’t want them to take you,” you said softly. You avoided looking at him. Loki scooted closer to you and gently raised your chin to look him in the eye.
“Hallucination or not, you will never, ever, trade your life for mine. Do you understand me?” Loki asked. His voice was gentle but his tone was harsh. His eyes pleaded with you, demanding that you understand him.
“I can’t make that promise,” you said. Tears gathered in your eyes. When it came down to it, you would always choose him. It was stupid and girlish and you really ought to have more self-respect. “I love you too much to ever live without you.”
Loki’s eyes widened a fraction. His nostrils flared. “You don’t know–”
“This isn’t because I almost died or got hurt. I’m telling you I love you because I do. You drive me up the fucking wall and sometimes I wanna murder you myself, but I know what I’m saying.”
Loki placed soft lips to your hand and held that position for a long time. So long that you worried that he was trying to gather courage to tell you that he didn’t feel the same way. That these past five years were no more than a game to him. A cat playing with its favorite toy.
Loki looked back up at you, eyes blazing. “I love you,” he said and called your name. “I love you and you’re mine. Always have been. Always will be.”
“You don’t have to say it–”
“I’m not saying it because you did. I’ve always been drawn to you, Darling. I prayed to Frigga, to…my mother. I prayed that if she let you wake up, if she let you return to me, then I would earn you. I would tell you anything you wanted to know, do anything you asked of me. Even if you asked me to leave you alone,” he said.
“I shouldn’t have given you the ultimatum,” you said.
“No, you were right to. I was a coward and selfish. I like the way you look at me. If I told you about Thor, I’d have to tell you all of it. And I can weather many things, Darling. Your pity is not one of them.”
“Loki…”
“And I would rather you look at me with pity than never look at me at all.” He took a deep breath and smiled briefly. “I will tell you what happened with Thor.”
You licked your lips, at a loss. Your curiosity about it was winning against your need to assure him that you were not entitled to his secrets. You opened your mouth to tell him that; it was the right thing to do but he squeezed your hand.
“Please. I have a vow to uphold and I want to.”
You nodded. You weren’t going to stop him and you really were dying to know the story there. Why he snapped at you like that and looked at his brother as if he wanted to jump into the nearest black hole.
“Thor and I didn’t leave Sakaar on the best of terms. We were always at each other’s throats growing up. Hundreds of years of resentment. I hated him when he was sent to Midgard. So pathetic. So weak. And he still managed to find happiness. It was like no matter what, the sun shined on Thor and left me it’s cold embrace.”
“We agreed to go our separate ways, in fact I tried to trick him one last time. Leave him there and escape. Make him suffer at least in some small way. For him to feel what it was like to be me for once: hopeless. We managed to leave together only to come home and deal with our sister. You know the rest.”
“Something changed with him after Thanos. He broke.” Loki shook his head as if he just realized that the word described Thor perfectly. After what you saw, you’d say it was accurate. Thor had always been loud and boisterous. The life of the party. He managed to make friends easily and make everyone feel included. He was bright. In your face.
When everyone’s eyes were drawn to him, your eyes were on Loki. On how his smile didn’t match his eyes. It seemed like the brighter Thor shone, the more Loki was forced to the shadows. Forced to move aside and make room. You knew what that was like. Your heart called out to him before he knew you existed, no matter what he said.
Seeing Thor reduced to the town drunk, overweight, and likely depressed was horrible to watch from afar. Loki saw it up close. Felt like he had a hand in it. It hurt you to think that Loki had been carrying this by himself for so long.
“We settled here and I checked on Thor every week. But there’s too much bad blood between us. We fought, over and over. And he got worse and worse. I still show up, but Thor…let’s say it hasn’t gotten better these past five years. I wanted him to suffer but I never wanted him to break. Never. I never wished that.”
“I believe you. But Loki, it doesn’t sound like you had anything to do with how he’s feeling now.”
“Don’t try to make me feel better about this. I’ve earned this guilt and I’ve got to make amends on my own,” he said.
You rubbed his hand in yours. “I don’t pity you, Loki. I’m proud of you.”
Loki tilted his head, the question hovering in his blue eyes. You smiled at him.
“It takes a brave person to admit what you did. And braver still to face it head on week after week,” you said.
Loki sighed and shook his head. “You continue to surprise me, Darling,” he said.
You took a deep breath. “Since we’re in a sharing mood…”
You told him about Erian. You told him that even in paradise you felt lonely. Abandoned. You had family but felt like the odd sheep out. Erian helped. She was the only one who didn’t judge you for your permanent state of melancholy. She didn’t try to fix it with parties, ale, or a man. You worked in the dye house, dyeing fabrics for the palace.
The one vice you had was visiting the playhouse. Hearing and seeing magnificent plays by brilliant writers. You told him that you thought his play was hilarious. He smiled at that.
You told him how you pushed Erian to go to the other side to be safe. You thought your side was going to get killed. Erian’s bright light deserved to keep going on, not your black mood.
But you only pushed her to her death. You watched as you got your best friend killed. The only one who saw you. Loved you despite your mood swings.
“Darling,” Loki said.
“Aht, aht. I can’t make you feel better about yours so you can’t make me feel better about mine. I’ve earned this guilt,” you said.
Throwing his words back in his face made him roll his eyes and smile. He sighed and looked at you, content to just see you. Really see you.
“We are two fools, you and I,” he said.
“Two fools trying,” you said and smiled.
“For a night of confessions, I have one more.” He took a deep breath. You rubbed his hand and looked at him. Whatever it was, you truly felt like you could get through it together.
“I know who the saboteur is now.”

You see him everywhere. At home, at work —in random spots all over the city, haunting you like a ghost. He’s everywhere and nowhere all the time, popping up at random, reminding you of his absent presence each moment you think you’ve forgotten.
It never gets any easier. Already with so many reminders of him lingering throughout your existence, you find yourself frequently cursing your mind for playing such tricks. For making you feel like he isn’t truly gone but instead just missing. Hiding. Waiting in the wings until the cue is sound and he’s able to return with a bow.
You hate that you miss him. That despite everything you still look at him like he’s this light. A brightened star against the backdrop of an otherwise dull existence. Because deep down, you know you shouldn’t think like that. Considering you’ve got a good life —a nice job thanks to Tony, a decent apartment in one of the nicer neighbourhoods in the city, a close-knit set of friends and family that care.
Overall, you’re privileged in a way a lot of people aren’t. Having been blessed with more than enough to live a happy life, you know that thanks is the only thing you should relate to your life. That every time you lay your head at night you should just appreciate what you have rather than long for the one thing you let slip through your fingers time and time again.
God, you wish you could.
More than anything, instead of focusing on what you lost you wish you could feel acceptance. That, as you walk through the hallway of your apartment late one night, eyes half closed with exhaustion, you wish you could envision anything but him crawling through your fire escape.
Swearing under your breath, you rub your eyes and tell the vision to go away —to leave you alone just this once because you’re too tired.
Having dealt with a seemingly endless trail of paperwork thanks to some stunt Tony had pulled at a gala last night, the last thing you want to clearly see is him draped in all his colours, using his magic to push open the window before crawling inside. No, instead you want to lie on your couch and watch reruns of your favourite show until you fall asleep. To escape reality for the remaining time you have left.
Except you can’t. Not when he’s huffing into the air, his chest heaving once then twice as he looks towards your frame, blinking.
Angrily, you groan and palm the sockets of your eyes, forcing your mind to reset its cruelty as you begin to turn on your heel, suddenly feeling a hand.
It locks roughly against the space above your elbow, pulling you slightly back. In response, you drop your hands reluctantly and turn to look, seeing the vision from before mold into something real. Tangible in a way that has your heart pounding in your chest —your eyes searching for potential signs of error.
Quicker than anticipated, you find that there are none. As you stand before him, taking in the uncharacteristic warmth that radiates across his skin, creating pools of sweat across his brow, you realize he’s really there. Standing in front of you, gripping your arm. Holding you with such deep distress you can practically feel the tremors of his anxiety.
“You’re alive.”
The words sound wrong. Like the lies you often heard spilled from his lips, it feels like you’re at the opening of another trick, waiting at the entrance for the punchline to hit.
“I am.”
“How?”
The edge of his lip twitches, as if he’s prepared to offer you that signature smirk before he realizes that he shouldn’t. You’ve just found out he’s alive after all, and as funny as it would be to downplay the situation as nothing more than just another game, you both know the thing you need most is comfort.
“It’s, uh, it’s complicated.”
He licks his lips as he looks you over, taking in your features, familiarizing himself with their placement despite already committing them to memory.
Somehow you look the same yet completely different. A copy of yourself, he decides.
“Complicated,” you repeat, practically gnawing your own words through clenched teeth as you feel his grip begin to loosen.
Neither of you know what to say then. Considering you hardly spoke of the issues spread between you when he was alive, it feels wrong to start now. To pretend like suddenly everything’s okay. Because even if his death could signify a clear upheaval of old habits, you know deep down he’ll never change. He’ll always be the same complicated, stubborn God just like you’ll be the headstrong to a fault mortal he mistakenly fell in love with.
“So, uh how—how’ve you been?”
His voice crashes through your skull despite being barely above a whisper. Wreaking havoc amongst your thoughts, it’s the kind of ridiculous question that manages to distract you long enough to forget that sometimes your body tends to detach from your mind. Doing whatever it wants in the form of stepping into his space and grabbing hold of his waist, you pull him roughly towards you, feeling your mind immediately calm.
“Terrible.”
Pressing your cheek against the leathers of his armour, you feel his awkward chuckle reverberate against your skin, reminding you of the few times things were good. Easy. Moments where instead of forcing yourself to hate him in between arguments you were able to just exist with him.
“I’m assuming that’s my fault.”
You feel his arms wrap around you then, weaving through your nervous frame to settle against your shoulders as he places his lips to your head, as if to say I’m sorry for dying, please forgive me.

Tumblr media
You laughed, running down the winding paths and sprinting down the narrow cobblestone. Your bare feet slapped on the stones, the rare pebble digging into your feet and making you wince, but you kept laughing.
You look back in front of you, and now you’re in the forests, the sounds of battle all around you. You look down, and your dress is gone, replaced with your battle armor.
No. No no no no no no no! No no no no no!
This can’t be happening again!
“Y/N! Y/N! WHERE ARE YOU?!” Loki’s voice was anxious, just barely loud enough to hear over the sounds of the battle going on around you.
Draugr swarmed everywhere like a virus, killing and almost seeming to multiply just as fast as they got cut down.
You couldn’t move, you were paralyzed in fear. Breathing was supposed to be easy, yet you could neither gasp in nor scream out. The air was thick with the sounds of screaming and the smell of blood.
“Y/N! Y/N!”
You whip your head around, then finally let out a scream when you saw one of the Draugr running towards you.
Right as you should have been impaled by the Draugr’s sword, Loki appears in front of you, hands on your shoulders, looking you over.
“Darling, are you alright? Are you hurt?”
Your heart pounds as you struggle for words, seeing the sword in his stomach.
“Darling? Wha-” Loki looked down, and you watch as blood starts to pour from the wound as the sword is removed.
😴🛌💭
You gasp, sitting up in bed, heart pounding and tears in your eyes. You look around you, seeing Loki next to you in the bed. You take a deep breath, trying to stifle your cries, covering your mouth with your hand.
“It’s alright, it was just a nightmare, Y/n. He’s fine, everything’s fine, nobody’s dead, nothing happened.” you mutter to yourself, sliding out of the bed. You grab your dressing robe from where you had tossed it on the bench at the bottom of your bed, slipping it on.
Quietly, you grab the candelabrum on the wardrobe, making sure that your robe was cinched shut before quickly lighting the candles and stepping out into the hall.
😴🛌💭
As you stare at the door in front of you, you find yourself grateful that Odin was on a trip to another realm for a peace treaty. Taking a deep breath, you knock softly on the door.
The door opens, revealing Frigg, and you try to smile.
“Lady Y/n? Is something wrong dear? Did Loki-“
“Oh, no. I- I just- I need to talk to you. I’m fine-“ Even you wouldn’t believe yourself, your voice was cracking and you probably looked a mess, in your nightclothes and robe.
“Come in, dear. Would you like some tea?”
😴🛌💭
Loki rolled over, yawning, reaching for you. You weren’t there. He bolted up, looking at your side of the bed, empty. When he put his hand on your pillow, it was slightly warm, like you had been gone for a while.
“Y/n?” Loki got out of the bed, calling your name as he walked to the bathroom, hoping you were in there and hadn’t lit any candles so as to not disturb him, but you weren’t there either.
Loki started to panic, lighting the candles in the room, his heart pounding. Your robe wasn’t on the bench, and the candelabrum wasn’t on the wardrobe.
Harsh cries split through the night air, and Loki looked over at the rocker, Hela safe inside. Loki smiled, grabbing his daughter carefully, kissing her forehead. She’d grown so fast, she was only 6 months old and she was already starting to crawl and talk.
“Shhhhhh, Hela, it’s okay.” he whispered, rocking the baby back and forth. She had your smile, which he was reminded of every day.
😴🛌💭
“I’ve been having the same dreams for months now. I’m scared, I don’t know what to do.” You broke down in Frigg’s arms, tears rolling down your face.
After you stopped crying, you sat up, wiping at your face, sniffing. You smile at Frigg, accepting the tissue she handed you, blowing your nose.
“Do you feel better?” You’d been asked the same question hundreds of times, but the only times it was said with kindness was when it came from Frigg or Loki. You nodded, and she smiles at you.
You start describing the recurring nightmares you’ve had for weeks, the dreams of Loki dying in front of you, Hela dying in your arms, Asgard in flames as you held your small daughter in your arms, dreams of the palace going up in flames as you ran through the woods, and tonight’s dream of sweet memories turning to war.
😴🛌💭
Loki carefully set Hela down in her rocker, now peacefully asleep. He grabbed a candle, throwing on his robe and set out of your shared room, looking for you.
His first stop was at Thor’s room. He pounded on the door, knocking until it opened, revealing his brother.
“What is your problem, Loki? It’s-“
“I can’t find Y/n.” Loki says, glaring at his brother.
“What? You think she’s in here?” Loki watched as Thor rubbed his face, yawning. “I have no interest in your wife, brother.”
“Don’t try to twist this around-“
“Why would I want your wife? She’s happy with you.”
“She was supposed to marry you, or did you forget?”
“I was never interested in her, Loki. It was arranged. It wasn’t out of love, it was to make the kingdom stronger. That’s it. Besides, I was the one who backed out. She couldn’t. I saw how much happier she was with you, and I didn’t want any drama. You already make enough of it, I didn’t want more.”
Loki glared at Thor, who rolled his eyes, opening the door further, allowing him in. “She probably just went to the bathroom.”
“Do you think I’d be in here if she was? I checked.”
😴🛌💭
“That’s- a lot, dear.”
“I’m scared of what it could mean. They’ve never been wrong. I- I don't-“ Frigg held you as you broke down once more, tears running down your face.
Your dreams always hinted at the millions of possibilities for the future. The more frequent a dream or nightmare, the more likely it was too happen.
You didn’t want these to happen, but they’d been plaguing your dreams for months now. You were terrified.
😴🛌💭
Ik y’all are still waiting for part 15 of Drugs of love, love of drugs, but for some reason I just don’t wanna do it 🫤 Sorry! I’m trying to, and I’m slowly getting more written, but my brain is rejecting the hyperfixation that was only 2 months ago my favorite obsession.
Anyways, how’d you like this? I’m doing something a lil different, wanna see if y’all like my Norse mythology stories, not just Marvel fics. Lemme know if u wanna be added or removed from tags, and lemme know what y’all thought of this!
Love you! ❤️

Chapter Three: The Message
A/N: Being a God has its perks; strength, accelerated healing, stamina...
Word Count: 2200
Rating: Mature
Tags: Loki being a spoiled prince, implied smut, nothing too graphic
Chapter Index
*This story is for mature audiences only.* 18+ *Minors DNI*
Loki was famished by the time he had finished with the maid from the library. He had made her come three more times before he left her. He took her from behind in front of the fireplace. He had her on her back on the chaise. And the first time he took her, he lowered her onto himself, and she rode him hard while they were still on the sofa.
He forgot to ask for her name, but he made another mental note: ‘Housemaid, short, blonde: good kisser, eager to please, deft hands, comes easily.’
He walked swiftly through the palace with a broad smile, wholly sated but starving. He walked straight for his chambers, taking long strides. His library adventure had occupied most of the early evening, and he missed dinner in the main hall. Not that he cared much; while his parents were away on business, all the courtiers had been demanding too much of his attention, boring him with their tales of inferred affronts or trying to engage him in other political discussions.
“Brother!”  Distracted by his daydreams, he almost ran into his brother, Thor, as he reached the top of the staircase. “I was looking for you at dinner.”
“I missed it,” he said, not slowing his pace.
“I do not dare guess why,” Thor observed the flush in his usually pale cheeks, the messy state of his usually kempt hair, and the disheveled look of his clothes. Not to mention the enormous smile pasted on his face. “Either you just won a fight, or you were dipping your wick somewhere.”
“You are too clever, Brother. I can keep no secret from you. I am just back from the training grounds.”
“Obviously.”  Thor rolled his eyes at his brother’s weak attempt at deception. Loki’s promiscuous reputation was hardly a secret. Ever since he was a teenager, he had basked in the fleshly attention he received after growing into his looks. It was even rumored that he lost his virginity while in the company of two maidens from his history class.
He frequently seduced servants, nobles, and even commoners living in the capital city surrounding the palace. It was a power he loved wielding. He always made sure it was a win-win situation. He relished giving pleasure as much as he loved receiving it. He always used the proper spells to shield himself from getting a child on someone or catching an infection.
When Loki did court, it lasted only a short time. He found keeping company with the same person became tedious after a while. He usually broke things off before the other person got any ideas that it could be a long-term endeavor.
Thor, on the other hand, preferred to court his partners and only took them to bed once promises of commitment were exchanged.
“If you will excuse me now, Brother, I have worked up quite the appetite today and am desperate for a bath.”
“Of course. But if you could spare some time before breakfast, I would like to get your thoughts on the message from Mother.”  Loki reached into his pocket, double-checking that he remembered the envelope.
“Yes. Yes. Nothing would make me happier.”
Thor’s eyebrows shot up, “You haven’t read it yet, have you?”
“Of course not. I told you I have had a hectic day—lots of meetings…and physical… combat training. I am ravenous. I will look it over once I have eaten, I promise.”
“It’s important.”  Thor gave him a serious look.
“Of course. You have my word.”
“I will meet with you here before breakfast then. Rest well, Brother.”  Thor left Loki at the double doors to his apartment.
Loki called for his chambermaid as soon as he entered his sitting room.
“Your Highness,” the maid called Sera responded with a deep curtesy.
“Draw my bath and lay out my robe. Send for my dinner, something hearty, and have it set up by the fire when I get out of the tub.”
“Right away, My Prince.”  She hurried off to the bathroom that lay just beyond Loki’s bedroom.
He removed the message from his mother, still sealed with wax in its parchment envelope. He thought about opening it now but recalling his brother’s face when he asked about it; he decided to wait until he was fed and comfortable. He left it on his desk and sunk into his chair. The activities of the day played on repeat in his mind.
“Your bath is ready, Your Highness.”
Loki headed to the bathroom, leaving a trail of clothes behind him.
“Make sure those are cleaned and pressed,” he ordered unnecessarily as the chambermaid followed behind him, gathering the laundry as she went.
“Yes, My Prince.”
Loki sunk into the deep bathtub, submerging himself to wet his hair. Sera pulled a basket and a stool out of a nearby cabinet and settled down next to the tub. She selected the shampoo from the basket and began washing his hair. She used her nails to massage his scalp just the way he liked.
“Divine,” he whispered.
“Head back, please.”
He obliged as she rinsed his hair with a large pitcher filled with warm water and lavender essence. She gently wrung out the water from his shoulder-length tresses when all the suds were gone. Next, she took her time massaging the lavender conditioning oils into his scalp with the pads of her fingers.
She loved hearing the little sounds of pleasure the prince made while she was caring for him. It made her so proud of the job she did. She would do, and has done, anything the prince desired. She combed all the knots from his hair, loving how it felt like black silk under her fingers.
“May I join you in the bath tonight, Your Highness? I could scrub your back like last time.” She kept her voice low and quiet behind him.
“As wonderful as that sounds, I am afraid I will have to pass tonight.”  As if on cue, Loki’s stomach growled loudly. “I will finish washing. You go and check on my dinner.”
“Yes, My Prince.” She sounded disappointed as she placed a stack of clean towels on the stool she just vacated. “You must be starving. I will make haste.”
Loki finished his bath; exiting the tub, he wrapped a towel around his waist. He took another towel and started patting his top half dry.
Looking in the mirror, he admired his “battle scars.” Light blue and purple mouth-sized bruises at the base of his neck, chest, and abdomen, and fingernail scratches on his back and buttocks. He gave himself a broad smile in the mirror.
‘Not bad for a day’s work,’ he thought to himself. Fortunately, as a God imbued with the magic of the Æsir, he had accelerated healing; soon there would be no trace of his lusty activities.
In his bedroom, he found his favorite robe lying across his bed. He put it on over his naked body, tying the sash loosely around his waist.
His dinner awaited him as he entered the front room of his chambers. He settled in at the little table beside the fireplace and ate his fill, enjoying every morsel. Clean and with a full belly, Loki was enjoying the warmth of the fire, almost ready to fall asleep in his chair as Sera came over to clean up.
Loki perked up slightly as he took in the view of the curve of her bum as she leaned over the table to clear it. “Thank you for your service, sweetling. You are the finest chambermaid I have ever had.”  She followed his eyes as he ran his gaze traveled over her body.
She blushed as she stacked the dishes on the tray. “It is my pleasure to serve you, Your Highness.”  She carried the tray to the table by the chamber’s main entrance and quickly returned to the prince’s side. She stared at his bare chest peeking out from his loose robe, heat rising in her body. “May I…will you be requiring-” Loki’s mouth cut her off. He kissed her deeply, wrapped one hand around her waist, and raised the other to massage her breast as he stood up from his chair.
“You have already served me so well tonight. Take the rest of the night off. I have work to do.”  She looked stricken as he stepped away from her toward his desk. “And tomorrow morning as well. I think I still remember how to dress myself.”  He picked up the message from his mother and eyed it warily.
“If you please, it would be my pleasure, My Prince.” She moved to his side again.
“Oh, of that, I am sure,” Loki said, chuckling, laying the envelope back on the desk. “I cannot have you getting too attached to me, sweetling. I will ruin you for all other men.”
Feeling emboldened, she untied the sash holding Loki’s robe closed. Her eyes drank in his beautiful, naked body. Her heart raced, and her skin felt like fire. She ran her hands down his chest, looking up at his ocean-blue eyes.
“Please?” she asked meekly.
“Mmmm….” He kissed her gently. “So bold.” He took her face into both of his hands. “I do have work to do.” He kissed her again. “But you do taste so sweet.”
She wrapped her arms around his waist, pressing her body to his. “I have an early meeting with my brother, pet.” He gave her a deep kiss, pulling her hair ribbon, letting her hair fall from the knot on the top of her head like a chestnut waterfall down to her waist.
“He will be very cross with me if I am ill-prepared,” he kissed her again. He was untying her apron behind her back. “You should go sleep in your quarters tonight. I need my rest.”  She pouted, her bottom lip jutting out, and looked up at Loki with mock sad eyes. He laughed and kissed her bottom lip before nipping it with his teeth.
“Let me warm your bed tonight, My Prince, and in the morning, I will wake you for your early meeting.” She raised her tiptoes so that her mouth was close to Loki’s ear, “I will wake you with my mouth. If it would please my Prince.” She ran her hand over his hip and cradled his length in her palm.
With that, the last bit of Loki’s resolve faltered. The message from his mother was all but forgotten as he lifted Sera from the floor, wrapping her legs around his waist. He carried her to his bedroom and threw her down on the bed.
Despite already having had copious amounts of sex that day, Loki obliged the chambermaid for hours more until she was happy and sated. She was amorous and eager, and he was delighted to please her. He was exhausted by the time she finally drifted off to sleep.
It was well after midnight when he slipped from the bed, pulling on his robe; he tried to make as little noise as possible as he shut the bedroom door behind him.
As much as he wanted to stay tangled up with the naked sleeping woman in his warm bed, he finally needed to read that message from his mother. He promised Thor, and Loki always kept his promises to his brother.
He carried the envelope to one of the large leather armchairs near the fireplace. With a wave of his hand, the fire roared back to life. Sinking in and getting comfortable, Loki took a deep breath and broke the wax seal. His eyes glided quickly over the paper covered in his mother’s elegant handwriting.
As he read, several emotions crossed his beautiful face: amusement, concern, horror, and finally, disbelief. He shook his head.
‘How? How could they do this to me? Mother knows my feelings. How could she think this is a good idea?’  As exhausted as he was a few minutes earlier, he made no move to return to his bed and the young beauty it held. Instead, he sat and stared into the fire, silently reeling from the news he had just received.
‘My dearest boys, your father and I continue our diplomatic tour of Asgard, hearing from the people and meeting with the Lords and Ladies of the realm.
We recently spent several weeks in the North. It is sparsely populated but extraordinarily rich in resources. Your father and I toured an emerald mine, visited the home of a local cattle farmer, and spent quite a bit of time with the Warden of the North, Lord Anderson and his family.
Which brings me to the main purpose of this letter. Your father was quite taken with their family’s story. Lord and Lady Anderson lost both of their sons and only male heirs in the battle of Svolder, leaving the sizeable demesne without an heir.
Your father, our King, has agreed to the betrothal of their daughter, Sigyn, to you, my sweet prince Loki. The betrothal contract has been signed and witnessed. You will inherit Smaragdberg on your wife’s behalf when Lord Anderson passes on to Valhalla. Until then, you and your bride will live at the palace and be tutored in Feudalism.
Your father wanted to wait to tell you when we returned, but I wanted you boys to hear it from me first. This is quite the announcement to have sprung on you in a letter. I am sorry to break the news to you in this way. Please forgive me.

A GOD’S REGRET (PART 2)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
A low rumble echoed through the air. The Avengers all tensed, fearing that perhaps there was a portal they missed. Perhaps there were more aliens about to descend upon New York. Perhaps they hadn’t quite captured Loki like they thought they had. Maybe he was still playing them, letting himself be captured again just so he can rip them apart once and for all.
What was most curious, though, was how even Loki looked like he was ready to run. Did that mean he wasn’t behind this? Or was he still behind the newest attack, but even he was scared of what was to come?
“Oh no,” Thor said, realizing what was to come.
“Oh no?” Tony repeated, eyebrows raised. If something could unnerve the literal god in front of them after everything that just happened...He wasn’t sure he was quite ready to face the threat himself. He looked at Loki, who’s eyes had gone wide as he seemed to realize the same thing as Thor. “What do you mean, oh no?”
“I might not be taking Loki back to Asgard alive after she’s done with him.”
“She?” Natasha said, raising an eyebrow. “Care to enlighten us on who she is?”
The rumble grew louder and louder, until the door flew open and revealed a truly terrifying woman. Much like Thor and Loki, you were adorned in metals and leather. You were a deep blue tunic with a black pants, golden armor covering you. Your gaze was cold, zeroed in on the captured god, paying no heed to the Avengers.
“LOKI!” you shouted, raising your spear as if you were ready to throw it at Loki’s head.
Thor stepped in the way, raising his hands, and said as calmly as he could, “Lady Y/N, it’s under control. Loki’s not going to be doing anything foolish.”
“Because he’s already humiliated himself in this baseless attempt to overtake Midgard,” you said. “I just want to talk to him.”
“I have known you since we were young, Lady Y/N. You don’t make entrances like this if all you wish to do is talk.”
You growled at him, baring your teeth, brushing past him, continuing your pursuit to the god who shrank against the wall.
“Woah, woah, woah,” Tony said, holding his hands up, stepping slightly in your path so that you would turn your attention to him but not enough that it would be his head on the end of your spear. “Who are you? You can’t just come in here, guns a-blazing—er, spears a-pointing?—and do whatever you want.”
You stopped in your tracks, looking Tony up and down. “I do not think you have much room to talk about—what was it you said? guns a-blazing—when you are a mere metal man.”
“That doesn’t answer who you are,” Tony said.
“I am Y/N of Asgard, and I have been burdened with a foolish husband,” you said with a dramatic roll of your eyes. You stood tall, eyes narrowing at the people in front of you. They were valiant heroes, you’d gathered. If they had managed to put an end to Loki’s destruction, they were either heroes or reckless fools. But now they were standing in your way. “Move.”
“Ma’am, we can’t let you—” Steve said, taking a step towards you, shielding you from Loki.
“I said to move and you would be wise to listen.”
Steve’s face turned pink. “We can’t—”
“You can, and you will.” You looked back at Thor, raising a brow. He shifted on his feet, trying to avoid your gaze. “Tell your friends to stand down.”
“You all would do well to not be on the bad side of the goddess of war,” Thor said, eyes flicking towards Loki. “Sorry, brother.”
Loki’s eyes were wide as he watched you walk up to him. Good, you thought. If he was so foolish as to do this, he should know that he must suffer from the consequences of his actions.
“You are an idiot, husband,” you said. “Yes, you have been destined for a throne. It is your birthright, one that was cruelly taken away from you by the Allfather. But that does not mean you can invade Midgard, or any other realm for that matter, and take what is not yours. I have loved you and I have respected you for as long as I have known you, but that love and respect is waning. Has this always been your plan? To make us think you died so that you can have your worthless throne? Is a throne really worth all of this? You were a good man before. What has changed?”
He looked like he wanted to say something, but the metal covering his mouth prevented him.
“I thought the world of you, husband. You were mischievous, sure, but you were kind and caring. When you sat on the throne in Thor’s absence, you were a good king. I cannot deny that. You were certainly born for the role. But something’s gotten into your head, and I will never be able to understand what has made you change. But know this: I will never forgive you for what harm you have caused this planet. What harm you have caused I and your family. I never thought I would have to say this, but I hope Odin gives you the worst punishment he can muster.”
“Damn,” Tony said, letting out a low whistle. He raised a brow as he looked at Loki. “Looks like karma’s slapped someone right in the face.”
“Not yet,” you said, “but I am tempted.” You looked at Thor. “Is it time to go?”
He nodded. “We were just about to finish up here.”
“Very well. Do what you must.” You looked over at Steve, presuming him to be the man in charge. “I apologize for intruding. But I am sure you understand why I had to.”
The blond man nodded. “As long as you don’t come at us like that, I have no issue with your presence.”
“A smart man. I am glad to know those still exist.” Perhaps it was just the part of you that wanted Loki to feel the pain you experienced, or perhaps it something about the Midgardian man himself, but you found yourself stepping forward, pressing a kiss to his cheek. “You fought a good fight, my valiant soldier.”
His cheeks tinted pink as he looked around the room. “Um, you’re welcome, ma’am. Anyone would have done the same.”
“Clearly not everyone.” You looked back at Loki, who’s eyes were clouded with anger. Then, you looked to Thor. “Let me know when we will be leaving.”
And, as you left the room, Clint looked at everyone, finally saying, “Okay, what the fuck just happened?”

A little preview of Monday's chapter
You perch nervously at the front of your saddle, grasping the horn for dear life. Loki swings up gracefully behind you and reaches around to control the reigns.
"It's alright, darling," he coos, wrapping an arm snuggly about your middle. "Nótt is steady and true. He will deliver us safely, I guarantee it."
You take a breath, trying not to shudder or look beyond the bridge. "It's my first time."
"And you're doing splendidly," he hugs you closer and you begin to relax as you watch Steve cling to Thor's waist.
Fury kicks his steed to a trot, joining Hogun at the head of the group.
