Everything I'm hearing about Loki Season 2 is just highlighting what the major miss is that Marvel's committed with this character. Even the positive reviews can only talk about the extension of the multi-verse and the TVA and the action, blah, blah, blah. But what's always made Loki such a dynamic and interesting character is his own, internal and personal struggle. He's a character driven character, and so any stories featuring him should, by and large, be character driven. And that's the problem. Other than making Loki into a fucking ass-hat clown who gets beat at every turn by total nobodies, calling into question his intellectual capacity, the issue is that this show has never focused on Loki as a character. He ended up not only playing second fiddle to Sylvie in season 1, essentially reduced to a superfluous presence in his own show, but none of the elements of Loki's story that are so intriguing and just begging to be explored got any acknowledgment at all. The reality of his internalized racism, his sense of alienation and separation from his brother and father, his desperation to win Odin's love, and thus desperation to live up to Thor's existence, and how that was always the driving force behind all of his villainous actions, etc... None of that has ever, ever been addressed outside of the first Thor film and just a little bit in the second Thor film. You would think a show ABOUT Loki would find the room and time to actually delve into these topics. But nope. Instead they focus on a bunch of BS about the multi-verse, which they've already based multiple films on and which nobody cares about at all. This show isn't about Loki. It's called Loki. But all it really is is a set up for Avengers 5, or whatever fucking number they're on. Ugh. Whatever.

Has anyone read the Loki wiki page recently? I was always under the impression that wiki pages were supposed to remain unbiased. Loki did some fucked up shit, obviously, but I don't know if this page accurately displays all of his motivations and feelings regarding why he did what he did in Thor 1. It implies (or really states) that he basically always hated Thor and Odin, and he is a sociopath that never loved his family (besides a small degree). Additionally, that he always felt like he was owed everything and his arrogance is crazy. The arrogance part was a later addition to make him more evil in Avengers, just saying. No clue when this was added, but it feels very post-Ragnarok. Again, not a great person, but this seems very much "Loki hated everyone always and anytime he was happy he was scheming."

Also seeing this bit of the art book it clear what a condescending view of Loki they have. I have no idea why people are so determined to try to make Loki out to be an "angsty teenager" like that's their attempt to dismiss Loki's grievances
Quote above: "It was time to push Loki in a new direction. A little less moody, a little less angry teenager"
WTF... this is disgusting and so invalidating. I want to assume these people are not doing it on purpose but I swear it's insane how they're following every step when it comes to discussing scapegoats: first they invalidate Loki's feelings, then they blame him for the family's shortcomings and his parents are always justified no matter what they do.
If that's how Herron and the others see it then I understand why ep1 was so outrageously victim-blamey.

So they didn't write Mobius and Loki's relationship as a love story but they still made Mobius a single parent... And they made Loki fixing himself before going to see Mobius... And they made Loki unable to speak in front of Mobius...
Absolutely, that wasn't queerbaiting... 😌

Well, after watching a recap of the first episode of season 2 of "Loki" (because I'm not paying Disney for anything at this point), I can pretty much confirm everything I said in my previous post. This show isn't about Loki at all. It's about the multiverse and just a set up for the next Avengers movie. Why is Loki even necessary as the main character, I wonder. They're just using him, and calling the show "Loki" to capitalize on his popularity, and that's about it. But otherwise, this show has nothing to do with him personally, as a character. It's got nothing to do with his own, personal growth. It's got nothing to do with his own, personal struggles. It's got nothing to do with his actual history within the MCU. It's just a bunch of mumbo-jumbo about the multiverse and Kang and the branching timelines. This is part of Marvel's problem these days. Everything is just a set up for the next movie or the next show. Instead of focusing on just telling good stories with the characters they're using, about the characters they're using, it all has to be a prelude to some big, universe spanning BS event.
They also had a scene, apparently, where Loki gets into an argument with Mobius about who "won" the fight between him and Sylvie at the end of the first season, and of course Mobius has to say it was Sylvie who won, while Loki gets all defensive and tries to claim it was a draw, because she's just better at everything than Loki, and Loki is an insecure, narcissistic little bitch. She's the better one. Obviously.
I heard that Loki doesn't get AS emasculated in this season as the first, but that's a pretty low bar to clear, since every other scene in the first season was him getting emasculated.
Also, it's just, every clip I've watched from this season still has Loki acting out of character. Why the hell does he RUN from the TVA agents in that scene in the hallway. He doesn't have that power repressing collar on. He should easily handle their asses. But as usual, Loki has no power when it's inconvenient for him to. And like, look, I love Tom Hiddleston. I think he's an amazing actor. But they're obviously directing him to try and be "funny", and it's lending an exaggerated, unnatural quality to his acting. It's been this way since the first season, and really since the dumpster fire that was "Ragnarok", where his movements are these over the top, exaggerated gestures, his line delivery has this forced, fake quality. His expressions look more like he's pulling faces than conveying any sort of nuanced or subtle emotion. It just feels like he's satirizing Loki instead of actually becoming Loki, and it sucks. I don't feel like I'm watching Loki, I feel like I'm just watching Tom Hiddleston acting like an idiot. Loki shouldn't be this clownish character. He can be funny, but his humor should always be understated, because Loki himself is an understated character. A master manipulator, someone who's always several steps ahead of everyone else, someone who's smarter than everyone else, someone who relies on trickery and deceit and misdirection to get what he wants done. Not this flailing around, desperate, overly emotional cry baby that they've made him into. It's unbearable to watch, and it's had a negative impact on Tom Hiddleston's acting to boot.

Just watched the new What If episode. In summary, Loki (in 1602) is a prince who is a terrible actor and has no fighting abilities or magic. Every scene he’s in he’s shown to be the butt of every single joke. Thor asked him to fight, he said he lost his weapon. He paddles on about Shakespeare to the extent that it’s so obnoxious. Thor calls him a terrible actor and asks when can they throw things at him. They basically took the Avengers 1 arrogance and mixed it with the Ragnarok stupidity. I have no issue at all with Loki having more dramatic or arrogant moods. The beauty of Loki is that he can be anything really. The problem is when they show that he’s completely useless and incompetent compared to everyone else. He doesn’t even have his magic for some reason (even though Wanda does). Even if this isn’t Asgard, it’s assumed that he was raised as a warrior prince alongside Thor. Maybe he loves theater, sure. But why is his entire character reduced to being arrogant and incompetent? There is no logical sense for Loki to be this version of himself. Pre-Thor 1 I am sure Loki was arrogant, but I never got the picture that he enjoyed this much attention. He is a mischief maker who works in shadows. The need for attention came from living in Thor’s shadow.
Even if none of this mattered, why would they use such a farcical version of the character when everyone else is multi-dimensional? There is a time and a place… like Ragnarok. Why can’t they ever just let Loki be the smart one? Not even in his own show could they grant him that.
Rant over. Just annoyed that all the versions of this character you could play, everyone chooses to highlight this one specific idea of him. I know it doesn’t really matter, but it’s just such poor writing.

The MCU trying to promote Sylki ship honestly feels like a desperate move at this point as to not admit that no one really cares about the character
Now follow me on this. It seems to me that the actual comics not only couldn't care less about Sylvie as a character. Taking a look at the impact that the MCU has on comics the lack of Syvle is notable. For example Shang Chi has been given the equivalent of the ten rings, his mother has been incorporated in comics, Lyla from moon Knight has been incorporated in comics, Darcy Lewis debuts in scarlet witch comics and there's that whole thing with Kamala being a mutant now. But Sylvie the character who the show revolves around who gets a Funko of the falling in love moment, nothing.
It's not like elements haven't made their way into comic either, they have. They love the alligator he got his own gag comic. And there's that avengers exiles comic with Loki needing to protect the multiverse. But again no Sylvie the character the creators clearly wanted to be a break out star
Like, marvel is pushing the ship but not the character herself. Like most of the teasers and promotions left her out and focused on the TVA. It really seems like they are not interested in her as a character on her own
You're completely right and to add to that, remember when Sophia said they basically improvised the whole Sylvie story during filming? It seems Marvel wasn't really interested in her from the get-go, she's no more than the perfect excuse to get their point across that Loki is a buffoon and inferior to her, but when it comes to really giving her depth and a background they couldn't care less. Hell, in that post-credit scene in Quantumania she was nowhere to be seen, they had Loki and Mobius there.
It's kind of ironic that they wrote her as this woman who tries to run away from anything Loki-related but she so desperately needs to be linked to him otherwise she's completely empty. She keeps the suit, she has the magic, and every time they want to show her somewhere it's with Loki by her side. Some claim this is out of misogyny but like you mentioned earlier, Layla is in the comics and she doesn't need Marc beside her or for him to define her because she's a well-written character with her own personality, story and capabilities.
Even the romance itself only has the purpose of placing Sylvie on a pedestal while throwing Loki under the bus. Her entire existence is based on the fact that she's superior to him: take Loki out of the equation and she's nothing. But this is not misogyny, she was literally written this way!

Let's unpack the last interview with the executive producer of Loki. He said it was never their intention to portray some romance between Mobius and Loki and I want to believe them... really. But I remember Eric Martin, the head writer, was very aware of the ship even before the second season was made. Then, he made a weird comparison between lokius and spirk, the mother of all the ships. So, there's no way Martin didn't know people ship Spock and Kirk in a romantic way.
But what is more funny to me is that they also say that Loki and silvye were a thing in this season... Because I don't see it. Sorry. Like , yeah maybe Loki loves her, but we never saw that Sylvie reciprocated his feelings. Like, this fucking writers aren't good at romance. I have to laugh. Even casual viewers noted that they toned down their romance. Then they were good at writing a "platonic" relationship.
And I thought this was because they're men. Like, they don't know how to write a romance (at least consciously). What a woman search in romance (sorry but even if there wasn't incest in the middle of this ship, Sylky still is the most boring ship of all the time). And above that, this season Sylvie was in the background. Like, they didn't know what to do with her. I even though maybe people above them told them to not put much of her on the screen. Like, I remember people hated the first season because it was more about her than the main character, Loki. But people loved Mobius and Loki together (and let's not forget that Kevin Feige told Eric to put Loki and Mobius in the episode 3 when the episode was leaning too much into ravvona and Victor timely).
I think they're good in "platonic" relationships because men only love men. And only want women for sex. Maybe I'm overreacting. But that's why they don't see it. They wrote a love story between Mobius and Loki, but because Mobius is a man, they can't see it.
And finally, I don't care if they aren't canon because guess what... Lokius is still the most popular ship of Loki, here on Tumblr and also in TikTok. That will haunt them forever. 🤭
And when the executive producer mentioned Loki's bisexuality I had to laugh. They don't want to piss the LGBT fans of Loki. Suddenly he remembers Loki's sexual orientation. And of course they didn't do anything with that because they don't care. They're just cishet men. 😮‍💨
Sorry, this is all over the place. And yes English is not my first language so...

This week is gonna be full on, The Loki finale is going to determine not just the fate of one of my most favorite marvel characters but also the fates of two of the most contested shippings in this show, Lokius and the very controversial and unliked shipping Sylki. Also the Marvels is also being released a day after the finale.
I have already spoken about how much I do not like Sylki and why this forced romance should've never be brought into existence. In my previous posts talking about S1, I haven't spoken much about S2 and I wanna make my final two sense about what I think is going to happen and what i want to see happen for the finale of Loki. Let's go
What do I think of S2 so far, well I did say I was very hesitant to watch S2 after that shitstorm of a finale, and so far it has been okay but not as ground breaking as i thought it would get, that was until episode 4 with that shocker ending that is. And every scene with Loki and Mobius was just picture perfect and damn entertaining to see. Lokius was definitely on full swing in this season and I will take as much if it as I can, especially since i don't believe these two will get together like so many of us want them to
Sylvie in this season was almost unbearable to watch, again I am not saying Sophia de Martino is bad as an actress but the material she was given this entire serie doesn't make me want to like her character Sylvie, it is clear she still has 0 remorse for her past actions, is taking no accountability for all the chaos she has singlehandedly caused, and finally she treats Loki and the other TVA members like pure shit.
Sylvie is literally a child stuck in the body of an adult, she didn't get the chance to live a normal life like Loki and their other variants and well most other people, making them mentally stunted, she is far more impulsive and reckless then our Loki, and like I said before far more narcissistic then even our Loki, due to her lack of accountability, remorse or care for what she has done and her wanted to put the blame on others ie Loki. She proved that they as a Loki variant were only made with one purpose, to destroy and cause chaos, allowing others to become greater versions of themselves ie The Avengers, and to be alone forever.
She's only barely begun her healing journey and even still wanted to run away from the problems she started in the first place by killing he who remains. That was only until she registered that the multiverse was infact in danger and that she had to fix the mistakes she caused and reluctantly came back. And she is definitely in no position to be in any sort of romantic relationship with anyone, especially themselves as a male presenting variant.
None of the scenes with them together could be considered romantic in my eyes, they were just arguing, with Sylvie not listening to anything loki says, I will however appalled her for saying she doesn't see herself as a god, she doesn't have that God complex that Thor and Loki have, Thor doesn't see themselves like that anymore especially after going to omnipotence city and meeting all the universe's most powerful deities. They themselves can still die, they ain't completely immortal and all powerful. Like Odin says they ain't Gods, they live and die like mortals, with Loki saying "give or take 5,000 years"
Loki's development in this season was okay to me, again his redemption story was rushed for too quickly and could've seen Loki develop alot more and go through all his problems and how to overcome his past trauma and learn from it. Him becoming the God of Stories was not unexpected in my eyes, I knew as soon as this series was made Loki would get the glow up and powerboast he so desperately needed and deserved, as much as I didn't like how that development from being evil to becoming a full on proper God literally in control of all of time I am very happy that Loki will be getting his Wanda becoming The Scarlet Witch moment, even if it is not as grand or cool as her transformation in the sky.
What I want to see in the finale:
Loki getting his wanda becoming The Scarlet Witch moment.
Loki being able to see his family again if it is only in the form of seeing Thor again.
Learning that Thor is actually still alive and go out and find him.
Lokius or at least him and Mobius sticking together and Mobius decided not to leave Loki behind and becoming his partner in time.
Sylvie getting her happy ending, by Loki bringing back her reality allowing her to go back or Sylvie joining Loki and Mobius as partners in time taking care of time. As friends and not romantic partners.
Mobius getting to ride his jetski, LET THE MAN RIDE THAT JETSKI
Show us how powerful Loki is and can be. No more boring green blasts, Loki's potential for being great and powerful can be achieved just show it.
What I don't want to see in the finale
Sylki
Mobius going back to his reality without Loki
Loki dieing or forced to be alone
That was very long thank you for reading this far of you have and let's hope and pray that nothing too bad happens again I am very scared that the worse will happen that's why I will be holding back from watching the finale untill we are given to all clear that Sylki hasn't happened, if it doesn't happen then i will consider that to be all good and I will then watch it.
One more thing I want to talk about, since that final trailer for The Marvels came out today I have been freaking out over the unexpected appearance of Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie, since those two have only technically met once on screen in Endgame at the final battle. And especially since Valkyrie was clearly talking to her in one split scene, they have clearly met up since probably meeting for the first time in Endgame, that just got my nerves running and all the Carol and Valkyrie fans have been popping up at the moment, I swear if they allow Carol and Valkyrie to get together in this film but not get two middle age men in a homosexual relationship in loki then I will cause a riot. Because that shows what's the problem with Marvel, Disney and the film industry as a whole at the moment.

Welp - it’s finally happened - Loki’s main villain Kang is finally making his first movie appearance and it’ll be the first movie since 2014 I don’t go see in theaters… Loki has ruined the MCU for me and I’m not looking forward to the next Avengers films at all knowing Waldron is writing them…
