Fic Recs
I’ve spent a couple months rereading two of the absolute BEST Loki-centric fanfics I have ever read:
The Relic by @mareebird
This is…just so good, guys. It’s one of the best character studies I have ever read, it has such a wonderful view on sitting with pain and knowing you will not be fixed, necessarily, but you can become something better than you used to be. Mareebird has such a way with words and just gets Loki, Thor, and Stephen Strange in ways I’ve rarely seen. She shows love between broken people who are trying to be better and sometimes just crash and fail but continue marching on. Also her OC is a wonderful addition to the MCU, and to Thor and Loki’s lives.
Ain’t No Magic, Ain’t No Lie by @iguessyouregonnamissthepantyraid
This one is more plot-centric (and is the second longfic in a series set in this AU). After being tortured by Thanos, Loki joins the Guardians of the Galaxy, rethinks his life, and becomes best friends with Peter Quill despite his better judgment. Loki just fits so well into the Guardians, which isn’t something I would have expected until reading this series. This entire series is hilarious and poignant in turns, and every time I read it I just want more of these characters (luckily there are 5 or so parts to the series).

Title: Life on Earth Author: @aurorawest Rating: M (language, sexual content) Relationships: Loki & Stephen Strange, Loki & Thor, Jane Foster & Loki, Jane Foster/Thor, Loki/Stephen Strange Major Archive Warnings: Creator Chose Not to Use Archive Warnings Word Count (so far): 44.7k Summary: Loki’s first full year on Earth has drawn to a close, and all he wants for Yule—or Christmas, since humans seem obsessed with it in his part of the world—is for Thor and Jane Foster to stop pretending they aren’t head over heels for each other and just kiss. But when Jane invites Thor to spend the day with her in London, where she’s currently living, Thor panics and begs Loki to come with.
Who should he run into there but Stephen Strange? Who obviously Loki is not going to get into a conversation with. At least not a long one. Okay, well, he’s not going to go for a walk with Strange. Ugh, not a long walk. Fine, but they’re not going to get a drink!
Okay, you know what? Maybe just one drink. It’s a good thing Strange isn’t attracted to men…
Thank you to my betas, @mareebird and AsgardianHarmony!
Chapter 10, Trafalgar Square, is posted!
“Stephen!” Thor said. A complex series of emotions passed over his face as he looked between Strange and Loki. Then, he added, “Loki, you didn’t mention what you had to do today was Stephen.”
There was a glint of mirth in Thor’s eyes. Loki regretted that he hadn’t let Ratatoskr kill him.
“We ran into each other,” Loki said shortly. “I lied about having something to do.”
“He didn’t want to be a third wheel,” Strange offered, unsolicited and frankly, unwanted.

I don't understand why people are making a big deal about the mention of pads and periods in 'Turning Red'.
It is a movie directed towards young girls and they have a right to know about their bodies and the changes they will experience.
The average age to get periods is 12 years and some girls get it as early as 8 or 9 years old. There is nothing to be ashamed about it or to hide it from little girls who one day have to experience it and don't have any support in dealing with his big change with their bodies.
Periods are a natural part of a girl's life and it would be so much better if they are prepared for it. Also, stop sexualising periods. There is nothing shameful about it.
Let girls be girls and stop trying to gaslight them into being ashamed of their own body and anatomy.

Ok, so I am really stepping into dangerous territory here, and I may get a lot of hate for this take. But honestly, I needed to get this off my chest, so here's my dive into it.
So, recently I saw a take that claimed Loki isn't responsible for Frigga's death. And that it's unfair of Mobius to blame him for it.
Now, here's the thing. Loki obviously didn't kill Frigga himself. Nor did he want her to die. He proactively didn't take part in her death. Ultimately he shouldn't be called her murderer. So, yes to say, Loki killed Frigga is wrong and cruel. Frigga was killed by the Kurse
But Loki did have a part to play in her death. Maybe you can't place full responsibility on his shoulder, but he definitely had a part. He led to the Kurse, albeit unknowingly to Frigga, which resulted in her death. And before any argues otherwise, let me add it is canon as confirmed on Marvel's official website. Mobius also repeats a similar sentiment in ep 1.
Tumblr media
Now, the point is whether Loki should be held responsible for Frigga's death or not. And if yes, how much? Like I said earlier, claiming Loki killed his mother is wrong, since he didn't kill her or nor plot to have her killed.
We can't also say Loki was responsible for her death, because honestly, Frigga was in danger anyways. The palace was under attack. We can argue sooner or later, the Kurse and Malekith may have found Jane and Frigga.
But what Loki is responsible of, is endangering his mother. He is responsible of leading the Kurse to her. And he is responsible for putting her in harm's way.
Obviously he didn't do it on purpose. He felt he was sending them to Thor. He had no idea his mother will pay the price instead. But, that is his fatal flaw.
Loki plays around with fire, thinking he can control the outcome. He comes up with elaborate plans, believing he can control how things play out, only for things to go out of control and everything burning down. Which not only hurts others but also himself. He learnt about his true heritage only because his plan went sideways and he found himself on Jotunhiem with Thor. And that's Loki's flaw. In his hubris that everything will go according to plan, he neither contemplates what will happen if things go wrong nor consider the consequences of his actions. And often times, other people get hurt.
In Thor, he sent the destroyer to Earth to stop Thor from returning, effectively endangering the lives of innocent people on Earth. The destroyer did create a lot of damage in the town, and maybe people must also have been hurt.
And this is going to anger a lot of people, but Loki had endangered Frigga's life before. In Thor, he leads Laufey to Odin's chamber, where Frigga was sitting at his bedside. Laufey only pushes Frigga away before he goes to kill Odin. But what if he hadn't. Frigga may have been hurt and Loki knowingly, put his mother in danger, just to prove himself to his father.
That's exactly what happened in TDW, only this time things didn't go according to his plan and Frigga died. That's why Loki's development in ep 6 is so meaningful. He finally learns to consider the consequences of his actions, and realise how others could get hurt.
So, yeah, while Loki didn't kill Frigga, he did have a part to play in her death. And yes, Mobius was cruel to tell him he killed his mother. But he wasn't wrong when he told Loki how he played a part in Frigga's death. This incident is what makes Loki so tragic. And defending him or outright excusing him of any guilt just takes away a lot of Loki's complexity.

After seeing the tweets from RTS society about the Loki series (x), one thing is extremely clear. The choice to put Loki in a boring TVA uniform was a conscious one. And I am trying to analyse what that uniform represented from a Doylist perspective.
Loki's armour
Tumblr media
I will be using the example of Loki's armour from Thor. Also, I am not an expert in costume so I may get some things wrong.
Now, Loki's identity in the main timeline is intrinsically linked to Asgard, Odin and specially Thor. He never had any individual characteristic or storyline and his story always depended on Thor's story. In fact, for 10 years, he was only either Thor's foil or Thor's brother.
And his armour is designed to reflect Loki's place in Thor's story. The armour has a distinct asgardian look with runes and symbols. It is dark in colour as compared to Thor's bright red armour to symbolise Loki's place as the darker, more villianous brother. I also remember reading somewhere that the horns represent villiany. So, this armour represents Loki's connection to Asgard and his place as Thor's foil.
I also think this armour represents Loki's stint as a villian. Because in Marvel's 10 years photo, Loki is wearing this armour in the villians group

I saw the multiverse of madness trailer and loved it. But the line " You break rules and become the hero. I did the same and became an enemy." is rubbing me the wrong way. I have decided to withhold my judgement until I see the movie but given MCU's treatment of Wanda, I am afraid it will be another line to whitewash Wanda's mistakes and cast her as a poor victim.
Now, I love Wanda. I understand her trauma. I can understand the reason for her actions and sympathise with her. I also love that she is a complex, morally grey character who makes bad choices. It is time we move past Ms. Goody two shoes and the vamps.
But I don't like Marvel always pulling the trauma card, whitewashing her mistakes and making her a poor victim. She has made mistakes, let her take responsibility for that. Let her be a character with a chip on her shoulder rather than erasing all her wrongdoings.
Which brings me to that revolting line in Wandavision- "they will never know what you sacrificed for them." Now, I will not laugh at Wanda saying she was just playing pretend in her fantasy. To her, it was real and she had to let her husband, her children and her perfect life go. It was a big sacrifice and Wanda was really brave to make it. But the residents of Westview are well within their right to hate her. She held them captive and mind controlled them for weeks, keeping them away from their friends, their families even their own children. They were being mentally tortured. To suddenly paint them in a bad light for hating poor Wanda instead of hailing her because she sacrificed her everything is just the worst case of victim blaming. It puts the entire importance on Wanda's loss ignoring the residents plight.
In fact, Darcy and Monica were in the series just to defend Wanda. I get Wanda is in grief and needs help. But this doesn't absolve her of her wrongdoings. Yet these two would jump in and defend Wanda's wrongdoings. Wanda has been through so much, she has been in so much pain etc, etc.
Especially Monica was extreme in her defense of Wanda. She pushed you through walls and ejected you out of the hex, ya but she didn't kill me. She held 1000 of people hostage, ya but she put up her own quarantine. Don't let Hayward make you the villian. Like come on.
Instead of trying to paint her as a benevolent hero who could have done bad things but didn't, it would have been better if they showed her as a person so consumed by her grief, she lost track of right and wrong and suddenly realised how wrong she was and fix it. Which Wanda did anyways, Marvel doesn't need to make excuses for her behaviour.

My #1 post of 2022
Since I am on a 'defend Sylvie' tirade, here's another pov that truly baffles me.
I have time and again seen posts about how Sylvie is a villian, how she has killed innocent TVA workers and she isn't held accountable for it. While these accusations may be true on a surface level, what's really sad is that they completely ignore Sylvie's trauma and the reasons behind her actions to paint her as a one-dimensional villian who is propped up just as a badass girlboss which is far from true.
Let me start off by saying Sylvie is not a hero. She is a heavily flawed, morally grey character. And yes she has done bad things. Also many of her actions aren't from a place of altruism but vengeance. But she is far from the villian some people make her to be.
1. She killed innocent TVA workers
Let's talk about the innocent part for a minute. Yes, the TVA workers are victims. Yes, they have been kidnapped and brainwashed into becoming TVA's slaves. Yes, they have been robbed of their lives. But they are not actually innocent. They have been pruning timelines and hunting down variants. The people who are actually innocent are the people they prune. People who just go about their daily lives until they suddenly appear and take their entire life away from them. People who don't even know what their fault is. You know people like Sylvie. And even if we assume they are innocent, can we just look at it from Sylvie's pov. These innocent people kidnapped her as a child, these innocent people hunted her like a dog and forced her to hide in apocalypses. If above all, we believe Sylvie is still wrong because she killed them, then so are they. How is it that Sylvie becomes a villian because she killed people while the TVA workers are innocent despite killing people? She is a villian because she killed her oppressor's minions?
2. But she hurt innocent people as well
Yes she did. By enchanting them. And she does rely on brute force to get her out of situations. But that is more about her survival, and less about wanting to hurt others and actively jeopardizing their safety which is the hallmark of a villian.
On another note though, at this may be dark, these people are in apocalypses, they are going to die anyway. And since Sylvie keeps returning to the same apocalypses over and over, she may have seen them die over and over again to a point where she became desensitized to them and their pain.
3. Sylvie learns of the TVA workers truth yet doesn't sympathise with them
Of all their reasons, this one really angers me the most. Because first of all, this completely ignores Sylvie's scene with B-15 to fit their narrative. But even if it was true, where does this complaint even come from? From the fact that since Sylvie is a woman, she is automatically supposed to care and look out for other people? Even when these same people turned her life into a living hell? That Sylvie is supposed to put other people and their pain over her pain and cater to them instead of protecting herself?
4. She isn't held accountable
First of all, who will hold her accountable? The shadow organization that controls all of time from the fringes and take away innocent people's lives from them. And secondly, do people truly believe that the TVA are bearers of justice who are metting out appropriate punishment to Loki? Because that is far from true. Loki is a victim of the TVA who hurt and torture him to get him to comply. TVA has no moral superiority over Sylvie so how is she going to be punished? And for another thing, Sylvie isn't hero coded. She is propped up in ep 4 and 5 but that was a conscious decision to make her arc in ep 6 more impactful.
And if we think about it, TVA and HWR aren't benevolent do gooders anyway. HWR's strict policing in the name of protecting the timeline caused as many casualties as the multiversal war if not more. So, maybe Sylvie wasn't too wrong in killing HWR. Yet Sylvie's actions are framed as wrong, HWR's death is shot in a tragic way and it is clearly implied she messed up. She is shown to be completely driven by anger. So, how was she hero coded? How was she portrayed as an awesome girlboss? She kills her oppressor, frees people from TVA's tyranny and still ends up the wrong one.
Sylvie isn't a perfect, poster image of a heroine. But she isn't a villian either. At best, she is a morally grey character or an anti heroine. And while I don't approve of all of her actions, I can understand where she comes from which many people in the fandom refuse to do.
What's even upsetting is that if these same actions were to be done by a male character, the fandom would have been quick to forgive him and excuse his behaviour. But since, Sylvie is a woman these very same actions are heavily criticised and she is painted as a big baf villian.

A Scandal in Bohara
read it on the AO3 at https://ift.tt/m5X6Zq9
by mareebird
Loki and Stephen embark on a diplomatic mission to Bohara, a Utopian island on an unassuming planet, to test their claim of a medical breakthrough. Unfortunately, Stephen is no diplomat, and Loki is sorely out of practice, and their friendship is already on rocky ground.
It's the worst possible timing for someone to find a dead body on the beach.
A sort of homage to Sherlock Holmes serials. And while yes this is part of a fic series, this one mostly stands alone, so if mysteries are your bag then come on over.

The Relic | mareebird | (47/47) - 254k | Sep ‘18 - Jan ‘21
A bargain to keep Loki from rotting on the Raft has not gone as either brother hoped. The Odinsons bide their time on Earth, uncertain of their allegiance and future, as Loki's ennui grows. Thor's quest for a fabled Asgardian relic brings the brothers to Norway, where they cross paths with a mysterious local archaeologist who turns Loki's relationship with humanity on its ear.
Note: (In honour of the impending release of the Loki miniseries and my sceptical optimism for it, I'm highlighting a few canon-adjacent Loki works that can pass the time between new episodes or, if you're like me, distract from new content long enough to miss the first wave of inevitable Discourse.) When mareebird said "character study," they weren't fucking kidding. This is a unique piece that diligently picks apart the tension and animosity cemented between the brothers, and within Loki himself. The Relic is a story of building love, examining the significance in the act of searching, and mareebird as an English graduate supplies enough narrative techniques to spoil a reader for other fanworks (as well as two spaces after a full stop, I spotted). The recency of its publication allows for scenes that feel as though they could have been canon, and though I have to appreciate receiving any new Loki content from Marvel, I wish a story like this would have been made into a miniseries.

”Explain once more why you need me to tag along. This endeavor of yours, haven't you been at it long enough? Norway can’t possibly still hold any more secrets for you. I think it’s high time you gave up, Thor.”
Thor pretended not to hear that last part, as he adjusted his knapsack for what felt like the dozenth time since packing that morning. The wear and tear of the past year had taken its toll on everything. The straps had become prone to slipping free of their buckles. It was bothersome, but he had grown attached to the damned bag. It had been his constant travel companion and he kept his face impassive as he fixed it, perhaps so as not to hurt its feelings—inanimate objects were not always as inanimate as they seemed.
Moreover, Loki had a habit of misinterpreting everything he did, willfully at times, and that included a scowl directed at an unrelated thing.
“Brother, I want you to come,” he said. He did, whether or not Loki believed it. “Of course, I believe your talents will aid us in solving this mystery once and for all, but more than that… I think you might actually enjoy yourself."
A waver in his voice betrayed fear, fear that Loki, so filled with resentment over their ongoing detention in New York, would still find doing nothing preferable to the suggestion there was anything in Midgard worthy of his attention. With a mirthless laugh, Loki tilted back his head with renewed interest in the ceiling, as though it was far more compelling than Thor’s invitation. He took his time, lifting his chin as he traced the cracks, putting on a show.
This script of theirs had grown tiresome: he would extend the invitation and Loki would snidely decline; it was like a checkpoint before every departure.

Top 5 Comfort Characters
I copied this from the lovely @wine-and-whines because the reblog was getting really long...
wine-and-whines
Very interesting thread and thank you for tagging me, @mareebird! I haven’t honestly thought of comfort characters or personal faves for many a good year. I honestly don’t think I’ve had a pure “comfort” character but I definitely can rank a few favorites I’ll catch in movies / tv series / books.
1. Elena "Lenù" Greco (My Brilliant Friend / Elena Ferrante) -- One of the few characters through whom I’ve experienced a similar friendship and struggle since I lost a friend two years ago and it still kills me. I really recommend the TV series.
2. Harry Potter - I miss those midnight parties ...
3. Charlotte (or Samantha) / Sex & the City ... gotta be honest. They are both my spirit animals depending on the day. Sweet and spicy :)
4. Princess Leia / Han Solo / Obi Wan Kenobi - loved those three in particular
5. Loki ... not necessarily for comfort but for the journey (and ... Tom ..fine only Tom ;-)
What say you @winterisakiller, @myoxisbroken, @caffiend-queen, @finchbaggins, @shiningloki, @regentofjotunheim .. and anyone else :)
Tumblr media
Thank you, my dear @wine-and-whines! Also, always for Tom. This is a given.
1. Loki:  Always. In every form and incarnation. He is my true and forever love. Whatever is happening outside the story or series or film I’m immersed in does not matter for those perfect moments he is with me.
2. James Bucky Barnes: He is beautiful and noble in a way that no other Marvel character is. Aside from Loki, he has suffered the most. But he still shows up. And I want him to find a nice girl (or guy, or girl and guy, I’m not fussy) he adores and beeeee happpyyy.... (Excuse me as I weep brokenly for a moment.)
3. Thomas the Tank Engine: Yeah, I know this sounds fucked up but hear me out: my twins have autism, and even though they're teenagers now, one of my boys will pull up a Thomas episode on YouTube after a hard day and it is magically calming. I associate Thomas with the release of fear, or frustration or sadness.
4.  Frøya from The Norsemen: This is classic Norwegian comedy in a way that is so Norwegian that I will laugh uncontrollably but everyone with me does not get it. After living in Oslo and Bergen for a year, I totally love their sense of humor.  Frøya is the classic Norsk beauty who beats the living fuck out of any man who tries to challenge her. In fact, she knocks out one idiot and then grinds herself to an orgasm while sitting on his unconscious face. I know it’s weird, but I just love her. She’s honorable and good in an appallingly brutal, matter of fact way.
5. Johnny Rose from Schitt’s Creek: This man was brought about as low as you can go, but he shows up every day in his nicely tailored jackets and finds new ways to support his wildly neurotic family. He shows up. The most comforting thing ever.
Yeah, I’m guessing I added way too much exposition here, but...
So! @nildespirandum @imanuglywombat @kimanne723 @alexakeyloveloki @thedarkplume @lokislastlove @gotnofucks @cockslut-padalecki @threeminutesoflife and @syntheticavenger, and anyone else who’d like to play, who are your five comfort characters?

WIP Meme / Tag Game
I got tagged by @every-lokitten for this fun little ask game <3.
Rules: Post the names of all the files in your WIP folder, regardless of how non-descriptive or ridiculous. Let people send you an ask with the title that most intrigues them and then post a little snippet of it or tell them something about it.
Then tag some people for a no-obligation mutual wailing/cheering/complaining session!
To be completely honest, I don't have a lot of actual WIPs. I have been working on the same project for over 2 years, a novel lenght fanfiction/spin off about an obscure Doctor Who side character who sadly disappeared from canon and might actually have been canonically ereased from existance when the multiverse went brrr in the early 00s.
I also really want to write my own spin on a hypothetical season 2 for the Loki series, but I feel mentally stuck by my big DW series. And also, it's already about a bunch of outcasts living in a bubble outside of the flow of time and fighting in a multiversal war, so writting about the Loki series feels like running in circles ^^. At this point, I am at the "constellation" stage of my writing where I have a LOT of headcanons and plot points but no overall plot, so I'm going to treat those independant ideas as separate WIPs (and maybe write them as such ^^).
1- Innocet's War
2- Sylvie reunites with her family
3- Mobius meets Ravonna on Sakaar and he takes her home
4- Loki faces existantial dread
5- Bard Loki's diary
6- Rebecca Tourminet's story
7- AoA but with Sylvie and her prime self Queen Loki
8- Bard Loki follows Sylvie to Roxxcart and steals something for Rebecca (Lovely prompt from @bushs-world)
I tag :
@bushs-world @insert-witty-user-name-here @qwanderer @nildespirandum @mareebird @playinggalaga and everyone who wants to do it !

10 days to go! 10 favourite moments from the trailers so far:
With 10 days to go I thought it would be fun to look at the cool stuff we’ve seen so far (and ignore the bits I’m not so keen on).
Tumblr media
“Come and get me!”   Loki has a flaming sword now, and I cannot express how much I love this!  Dramatic, strong, defiant, I love it!
Tumblr media
This one I like because I’m a sucker for good old High Fantasy, and this makes me think of all the novels I read years ago that involved magic swords, quests, and old castles with libraries.  I’m also intrigued by the cracks in the building reality?
Tumblr media
This one I am unexpectedly a fan of. I didn’t know that I would want to see Loki looking like Tom, but I am now deeply curious to see him pull this off.  I want to see how Loki appears when all the costume, hair, and fantastical environments are removed.
Tumblr media
I loved the first Thor film and I am excited to see what this is about.  I know it won’t be exactly the same, but I will put up with a lot if there’s a good story behind this.  And especially if Loki gets to see some version of his mother again.  I’d also just love to see Asgard again.  I know it’s cool to be all “down with the conquering realm!” but I have a soft spot for the place and would love to explore more of it.
Tumblr media
This split second clip is the first time we’ve glimpsed Loki’s vulnerability in the series promo.  I WANT MORE!  And I really hope they take the time to explore these moments.  Various interviews make this prospect seem possible.  I hope so, because Tom is so darn good at it!
Tumblr media
This one also seems to have a little bit of softness to it too, and even if it is a uniform I think he could wear more royal blue.
Tumblr media
This one I love because it was the first moment we got to see that Loki will be using magic for other than fighting. After so long without it I am so happy to see this and so excited to see what else he can do with his magic! I also love how many of my mutuals were so happy about this because they’d written it into their fics. <3
These next two are just purely beautiful!
Tumblr media
I’m so glad they’ve given us at least this one image of Loki in his Asgardian clothing, REALLY looking like the Loki we know from Avengers, right down to the posture and the tight focussed expression. If this is the last we see of this version of Loki then at least we go this.
Tumblr media
This I love because it appears that we’ll get to revisit 2012, again, and spend a bit of time with some sort of alternate Avengers!Loki.  Does he win in this timeline? Does TVA!Loki go to visit him at some point during the battle of New York when he’s at Stark Tower? Who knows!
Tumblr media
And this one I’m surprised I like so much.  I’m not a fan of the stabbing jokes and the whole knife debacle in Infinity War, so it’s taken me a while to get behind the knives motif. but this works for me. Perhaps it’s that it’s gotten rid of the ugly ass brown overcoat and replaced it with a well fitted shirt and trousers, and the background is that cool ancient looking building again, but I’m here for this.
Tagging a few folk who might like to join in -  but please don’t feel obliged :) : @projectprotectloki @sparklegemstone @piccolaromana @scintillatingshortgirl19 @latent-thoughts @mother-of-felines  @woodelf68 @iamanartichoke @gia-selene-baczewska @mareebird @mimsyisgianna @nebulousfishgills @loaficat @bardicious @spacefloosie @alwida10 @pinkpondofasgard @izhunny @dragonleighs @avalon68 @scully2u

I saw a take complaining that Kid Loki handed Loki his sword because it didn't occur to the writers that Loki could conjure his own weapon.
And just.
It's haunting me. It's haunting me that someone thinks this is a good point to make as a strike against the series. Recieving a sword was bad because it's... insulting to Loki? Who can make his own weapons?
Good grief. It's not just any sword. It's Lævateinn. It's origins are in the Norse mythology of Loki. Our MCU Loki cannot just make this sword because it's that important of a sword. Kid Loki happened to possess it and he's handing it over as a gift. And nevermind the importance of gift-giving in narratives about quests, because you don't even have to understand the history of this sword to get why passing it on was important. Kid Loki is the oldest Loki and king of the void. He's the king giving a gift to his new knight. But if you know what the sword is, then you should also understand Loki obtaining Lævateinn is a moment of huge significance for him as a character. It's like his Mjölnir. Kid Loki deemed him worthy of his special sword.
But no, reduce it to hurr durr writers dumb.
Which Loki then used in a WHOLLY MAGICAL WAY rather than defaulting to stabby stabby.

So far, this series is somewhat speaking in the fanfiction language.
I have a feeling Tom Hiddleston as an Executive Producer has something to do with that.
Moreover, I have a feeling, he might have read a few fanfictions, at least, just the rants we put on Twitter, Instagram and other social media.
He is speaking to our hearts.

Loki episode 4
Spoiler alert!!!
Spoiler alert!!!
I can't believe they made Loki say such self-loathing words.
I can't believe they made Loki listen to those hurtful words.
I can't believe they made Loki cry again.
I can't believe they pruned Mobius.
I can't believe they made Loki cry yet again.
I can't believe they made me watch Loki die once again.
Thank God they brought him back or I would have been crying all week. I have been crying through those few minutes of the end song before I heard his voice.
They better be bringing Mobius back as well.

I have a hunch that it’s going to be Loki all along. I am just praying that 2012 Loki is not going to betray Sylvie and/or Mobius.
Remember this line...
"It's an illusion. It's a cruel, elaborate trick conjured by the weak to inspire fear. A desperate attempt at control."
He used this sentence twice. Once to describe the TVA. And then again to describe himself.
I am scared. Very very scared. What if it’s been King Loki all along?

I will be breaking down each supporting character of the series. I have already done a breakdown of Loki's behaviour through each episode here.
Mobius | Sylvie | Ravonna | He Who Remains
Mobius - The Person
Tumblr media
At first glance, Mobius looks like an angel that can never do any harm. He is a sweet, understanding person with a friendly disposition. In episode 1, he is initially kind and friendly to Loki before the scene in the time theatre. He is also kind to the kid in ep 1 and the people in Roxxcart in ep 2.
Mobius also has a great sense of camaraderie and cares deeply about his fellow TVA workers. He is deeply affected by C-20's death and has a strong friendship with Ravonna.
One thing I admire about Mobius is that he is transparent. He is open about his motives and doesn't try to sugarcoat things. He openly tells Loki why he needs him and doesn't try to sugarcoat his motives.
The Analyst
Tumblr media
Thanks to @mareebird for helping me sort through this. Mobius, the analyst is a stark contrast to Mobius, the person. As an analyst, Mobius can be sly, manipulative, petty even downright cruel.
During the interrogation in ep 1, initially Mobius makes sly comments to get Loki to comply. When this doesnt work, he uses his mother's death to hurt and break Loki. He cruelly tells Loki he is born to cause pain and suffering.
In ep 4, he takes it a step further by first trapping Loki in the time cell, then lying about Sylvie's death and then saying he no longer needs him.
But this behaviour is not Mobius's default and only comes to surface when Mobius is working as an analyst and his good cop techniques fail. In essence, this isn't who Mobius is as a person but a secondary personality he adopts to do his job.
The TVA Poster Boy
Tumblr media
A good chunk of ep 2 is dedicated to establishing Mobius's relation with the TVA. It is clear in ep 1 that Mobius himself doesn't fully understand TVA and it's working. He is unable to answer Loki's questions about the timekeepers approval and switches topics.
In ep 2, it becomes clear that Mobius completely believes all of TVA's lies and honestly believes they are the good guys. So much that Mobius never even tried to ride a jetski despite wanting to because he is scared such a simple thing could cause a branch and endanger the sacred timeline. He even tells Loki that the TVA is his life, it's his glorious purpose and it's real because he believes it's real.
The Man with a Broken Faith
Tumblr media
Mobius's blind faith in the TVA is broken once Mobius realises the lies he has been told. For a man whose entire life and purpose came from his association with the TVA, this is a very hard blow.
But Mobius deserves credit here because instead of being consumed with this knowledge or feigning ignorance, he quickly switches gears and genuinely tries to right his wrongs. He breaks Loki out of the time theatre and plans with him to save Sylvie.
In the void, he tells Classic Loki it's never too late to change when he reminds Mobius he will be turning his back to the same thing he dedicated his life to. He even apologizes to Sylvie, telling her he believed the TVA were the good guys.
Mobius is a perfect example of a person who lost his faith and had his entire reality, his entire life and his perception of wrong and right fall apart. He went from believing he was a good guy to realising he was the bad guy all along. He even realises he had a life somewhere before he was abducted by the TVA. But as soon as he realises the lies, he tries to do the right thing, opposes the TVA and tries to make up for his mistakes. This is in stark contrast to Ravonna who reacts by doubling down on her faith and refusing to believe the TVA were the bad guys.

22, 30, 41. Thank you!
22. Is there anything you regret writing? Not at all, although there are parts of Sanctuary that I go back and wince a little at bc I know I could have taken more time or revised more in order to create a tighter story. That said, it was a process and I’m still really proud of it.
30. What inspires you to write? Media; I think my writing flows best when I’ve been indulging in fic or watching tv/movies or whatever, bc I just kind of soak up the storylines and the emotions and the challenges and relationships and then I want to turn around and create similar things in my own way, or write my own interpretation of a trope or something like that. Music also really inspires me.
41. List and link to 5 fanfics you are currently reading: Ah, I gotta go to my subscriptions page for this!
The Relic by @mareebird. Loki x OC, Brodinsons, excellent plot and feels.
One for Sorrow by @incredifishface. Thorki, fabulous character development, so many feels.
Have Tesseract, Will Travel series by WinterDusk. (Not sure if this author is on tumblr.) Brodinsons, post-Endgame, adventures with the Guardians, so. manyyyy. feeeeeels.
Particles by jotunking (also not sure if they’re on tumblr). Thorki, post-IW AU, super original plot, angst and feels.
Walked in These Quiet Hazes by @ratsats. Brodinsons, post-Endgame, Loki is alive, lots of plot and lots of angst.
Thanks so much for the ask!
Fanfic Asks.
