Shameless Plug Saturday
I've titled this like I'm going to make this a regular thing, but I'm for sure not. I'm uncomfortable about promoting my own writing but my more recent fic doesn't seem to be visible in the reblog link in the appropriate tags, so I'm just going to make a separate post. (So maybe it's a little bit of shame shameless plug. Shameless Plug Saturday with a Side of Unconscious Cringing) Anyway
This Misery Will Suffice: Loki/Sigyn; Vaguely MCU-compliant (does not follow Loki); 18,818 words
Nothing Matters at the End of the World: Loki/Mobius; 5+1 things; Loki, post-season 1, canon-compliant through season 1; 11,524 words
Choose Me: Loki/Mobius; Theo Bell/Loki; Loki, mostly canon-compliant through season 1; doesn't follow Loki: Where Mischief Lies as closely as the show, but references it liberally; 12,102 words

What If...
After Loki found out he was Jotun, he instead moved out of Asgard to take some time for himself, going to Vanaheim as an ambassador to try and reunite peace. There he meets a healer and falls in love and decides he deserves happiness, no matter his heritage and history. He ends up staying in Vanaheim and raising his family, two twin boys. Odin and Loki patch up and work hard on a relationship, but it's always a bit rocky. Him and Frigga stay extremely close and she's thrilled to have grand kids. Thor loves Sigyn and being an uncle. I'm sorry but Loki deserves to have a happy and fulfilling life.

My Musings on Sigyn
So yeah, y’all know my feelings on Sylvie vs Sigyn. I don’t talk about Sigyn much, though. Stupid me.
Artwork not mine, origin: https://berloga-workshop.com/blog/95-sigyn.html
She really gets the short end of the myth from the get-go, doesn’t she? All the Poet Edda says with regards to her is that she stayed faithfully by Loki, protecting him from pain as much as she was capable, using her bowl to catch snake venom and preventing it from touching her husbands’ face, thus tormenting him. She is far from Loki’s only lover, but she’s the only one who goes down to Hel to endure his suffering with him until Ragnarok.
Why don’t we call that what it is: badass?
The Poet Edda doesn’t really say anything about the nature of Logyn, other than Sigyn followed Loki into his punishment of her own volition. I think more people are tempted to write off Sigyn as weak based on the fact that there are so many blanks to fill in with regard to her personality and history that its just easier to write her off as a 50s Housewife trope. I don’t really believe it’s fair to assume Sigyn went to the underworld because she was abused to the point of submission. For all we know, Loki would’ve done the same thing for her. For all we know, there are lost texts that are love poems between the two.
A lot of the discourse about Loki being ‘abusive’ is not from the original myths. In fact, it didn’t really come about until Marvel introduced her character in the comics, where their relationship gets toxic.
Although they did share a love for headgear that gets great radio reception...
Now, I haven’t read all the comics, but it makes me a little afraid on what the MCU might do to Sigyn if they ever decided to bring her in properly one day (if they haven’t already by absolutely ruining it all by just making Sylvie her stand-in). MCU would probably do one of two things to her:
1: The more likely thing is making her entire appearance an Easter Egg somewhere in the LOKI series.
2: They overcompensate for the comics by turning her into a GirlBossTM.
Now, I’m 150% feminist and all for more assertive, active heroines, but I’m SOOOO SICK OF GIRLBOSSTM. It’s gotten to the point where its a trope that lampoons itself without self-awareness. There’s a right way to do it (I usually refer to films like Ever After for positive examples) and a wrong way to do it (Camila Cabello’s Cinderella did it so so so badly, guys, it hurt my soul).
I’ll admit I kinda did this myself in my fanfic All the Strange Creatures, but it’s to a bigger purpose. I’ve given her weaponry and a destiny and all that jazz. And I am making sure the Sigyn of my story isn’t TOO awesome either, because that’s when most writers lose me. “Too awesome” can be just as bad and annoying as “too weak.”
So, unless they do the cool thing and add a twist that Mobius is Sigyn (which I honestly wouldn’t hate, and goddamn it would make so much sense), I’m not sure how I feel about Sigyn ever entering the MCU.
What do you all think? Should Sigyn be introduced to the MCU? Or will they fuck it up too much for it to be worthwhile?
This post is what inspired my own thoughts. Check it out.

Sigyn : How?
Loki : How what?
Sigyn : How could they be worse?
Loki : They couldn’t, I lied.

Chapter 8 is here, folks, and there’s some actual plot this time!
I still get exhausted trying to write fancy sex scenes, so this chapter kind of glossed over the grittiest details in favor of something a bit more romantic. Hope you don’t mind. I sometimes find a nice, innocent fluff scene does as much for me as a hard-and-dirty smutfest. I guess it just depends what you’re in the mood for.
Thing is, I have a difficult time writing the tender side of Loki so many other writers seem to have such a grasp on. I think it’s because I’m still new to the MCU fandom as a whole. A part of me still isn’t sure if Loki has a soft side at all.
Also, I’d better start getting readers and more comments soon, because now I can’t put off researching the character I’ve been dreading writing for this whole time. The things I do for you, people. LOVE ME LOVE ME PLEASE
Enjoy this week’s installment!
