im so scared grrm’s going to have either jaime’s pov of tbtwp be really gross & compare brienne to cersei or brienne’s piv be hella akward and uncomfortable. the knowledge that he has written will make me happy but knowing george it will be so akward and ... ugh fic just has given me unrealistic expectations:/

honestly i would prefer it to be in jaime’s pov bc thinking of the stuff brienne’s probably gonna say in her thoughts makes me really sad :-( like i’d rather  sit through jam thinking how she’s not like cersei (gentler!!!)  than brienne thinking that she must look and sound ridiculous and jam is only fucking her he misses his sister and she’s the next woman available or something IDK 

 but yeah whatever happens, happens! at least we’ll always have fic LOL

I LOVED THE ASSIGNMENT ! Wonderful work, truly!! One question mark though, was the language Russian, like in The Americans? And what were their birth names?

Thank you! There aren’t answers those questions (well, it’s definitely NOT Russian, because it’s not set in our version of the Cold War), and there aren’t meant to be. It’s a device I used to keep the story tightly focused on Jaime and Brienne – just as The Americans, while much more faithful to historical events, is about a marriage more so than about espionage – and also to reinforce that geopolitics and even ideologies don’t change the fact that they are two people swept up in the machinations of powers beyond their control.

The only identifying information about the setting is that the Faith of the Seven still exists in their verse, which I kept in mostly because I wanted them to marry (and also swear lol) in a way that echoed canon. But since it’s a modern AU, it could be that the Faith had long spread beyond what we know as the Seven Kingdoms, just as Christianity today is practiced all over the world. It could still be set in Westeros, but in a Westeros unrecognisable to us, just as the borders of many countries today didn’t exist in those forms (or even at all) as recently as a few hundred years ago.

The point is it doesn’t matter, not for my story. Because it doesn’t change the fact that Jaime and Brienne became Jaime and Brienne together, and that they are still Jaime and Brienne no matter what names they were given at birth or what language they speak.

In fact, the only person in this whole story whose real name is retained is Aerys Targaryen (and maybe Pod, I kept it hazy), which I actually kinda regret. I should have just called him the (Mad) King, just as I called Tywin the General.

I’m not sure how I’d fully rank them except I know Jaime is number one, but the rest: 

Sansa, Cersei, Catelyn, Brienne, Asha, Arianne, Robb, Arya, and Theon are all pretty high up there. 

#there are some I'm really attached to like Renly and loras and margaery #but I'm not sure I'd count them as favorites #bc it's really hard to get a read on them #also i hated theon's chapters in clash of kings #but he has grown on me #also does elia martell count? i'm also really attached to her #lokifanclub

yeah the knighting scene gave me my smiling show brienne rights but i like the idea of her just being recognized as the perfect knight who isn’t even a knight!! if that makes sense 😖

ya that makes total sense and I love that idea as well if I do say so myself! it could be like a reverse dunk situation as well since in his part, he technically got knighted but we don’t really know from who so people kinda side eye him when he says he’s a knight, but in her case everyone recognises her as one but she doesn’t have the official title behind her name. regardless, if she gets knighted it would be amazing but if she doesn’t I won’t be mad about it either !

as a follow up, can i just say that u literally r the reason i can see jaime/brienne with ppl besides each other, which was difficult for me to do at first, im not normally a multi shipper!

I there are JB shippers out there who aren’t keen on multishipping them, so it’s so cool my writing caused someone to be able to see them with other people!
