Lokius Fic

Spoiler’s for Loki S2 Finale ahead!

All Loki can do is sit, listen, and watch as his other half stands alone in a timeline he is estranged from. What now? What’s next for Mobius? What’s his purpose? Loki? Yes, wait, no? Mobius doesn’t know... Where is he meant to go without his Loki? Who is he meant to be?

Because genuinely… What now, Mobius? What’s in store for you?

Loki may have eyes on the entire multiverse, but his eyes always focus on Mobius, fixated and loving from afar.

For another long couple hours, Mobius stands and watches himself be a father to two very special kids... to be a jet-ski loving salesman... Is this really the life he wants? Well, it's the only life he can have on a timeline where Loki can see him.

But is this sacrifice of the version he is now worth it? Is life on the sacred timeline worth it? Is forgetting Loki so that he can be seen by him worth it?

Yes. What does he have to lose? He’s already lost it all.

So he takes it. He leaves the TVA behind…He leaves the only life he’s ever known behind…and lives on the timeline... There was nothing left there, and it’s only here on the timeline where he can be somewhat connected with Loki…even if he forgets everything.

He just wants his presence; he just wants him back, and dishearteningly, this is the only way.

So Mobius lives his life on the timeline. And you know what? It was a good life. His kids both grew up to be fine young men; his world was filled with the love of family from the grandkids they eventually brought home; and he spends his days riding on his jet ski, reading a good book, watching a nice show, having a nice glass of lemonade, meeting new folks at community events... It was a good life.

But he always knew something was missing. He just wasn’t sure what it was.

Then there was Loki, who sat on his lonesome throne…He had watched his Mobius carefully throughout his life. He watched as Mobius faced the challenges of being a single dad. He watched him celebrate birthdays. He watched him as he met his first grandkid.

He watched every moment. Every second.

He even watched him reject connection and love. Loki still doesn’t understand why he would... considering Mobius doesn’t know about him now. but there are still mysteries that are bound to be unsolved.

Mobius had reached the end of his life as well, as we are all destined for. Surrounded by memories of his life all around, he takes a final look at it all. And right there with him was Loki, watching down on him.

There is grief. There is sadness. There is so much despair. Mobius shouldn’t be alone. Loki wanted to be there so bad. He didn’t want him to be alone. He should be there. He should be there in his afterlife…

But he can't... he’s burdened with his glorious purpose...

So as the strings of life leave Mobius, he breathes in the green land that hugs his skin…and for a brief moment…déjà vu hits his soul…

Where had he felt the warm embrace of the green world? He doesn’t know, but he’s felt this love before. Somewhere.

But even in death, the two souls would not connect.

As Mobius finds his consciousness in the afterlife, he’s met with fulfilment and satisfaction. The feeling of peace washes his soul. and he passes on to whatever is next.

Tears roll down the face of the god. He can change the story, but he knows better not to fabricate a reality in which Mobius remembers him…he knows that pain is a burden to carry for eternity. so he’ll carry it for the both of them…

He fills Mobius with peace, with home, with happiness, and after all this time, he looks away from him for once.

“Perhaps in the next life,” Loki utters as he forces himself to let go…to allow Mobius to exist without his lingering memory.

At least he has eternity to replay the memories of them both.

So he’ll just let time pass, as he has an eternity of love to give to a man who doesn’t know of his existence.

(a/n): honestly the season finale was so amazingly done, i cannot put into words just how good it is, that doesn’t that i’m happy though LOL i have crying and devastated for days and writing this angst fic made it 10x worse haha anyways i hoped you enjoyed and possibly cried again 🤗

Thinking about that conversation in the very first episode, where Loki says. "I don't enjoy hurting people. I do it because I have to. Because it's part of the illusion" and then thinking about him interrogating brad a second time. How Mobius remembered that and trusted Loki to do what was needed but not be cruel (well overly cruel)
