I'm already so obsessed with fae!price and his witch

Because price is a debt collector I'm just imagining he's got a lot of disgruntled beings that would do anything to get out from under his thumb. Do you think anyone would notice price's tether with the witch or his relationship with her and attempt to use that to gain leverage on him. I can imagine him cutting short anyone who tries with brutal efficiency. But his witch is also smart in being able to see through not just price's intentions but others too

If they did notice the tether, they'd probably assume it was just another person indebted to Price. But if they saw him hanging around the Witch they might start to think it was something more.

Your roses are growing better than they usually do. Their blooms open a little longer, petals turning brown slower than you expected. When you inspect the plant there isn't anything different about it, nothing magical at least. The soil around the base is wet, though you can assume that's from your watering can.

(In the dead of night Price drags a knife across the throat of the would be intruder testing your threshold. He grips their hair, careful to make sure the quickly draining corpse doesn't fall over your fence and onto your flowers. The blood arcs and sprays over the brick, the patter of it like rain against deep red rose petals and thick thorns. The gurgle of life chokes its way out of the lesser fae's throat. Price shushes them, before dragging their limp body back towards Winter.)

The besom over your door has dried out more quickly than you would like. Doing its job well, you suppose. You make a note to go out and grab supplies for a new one this weekend. You break the handle apart and toss the spent magic in your fire. You grab a jar of feathers from your bookshelf and knot a quick witches ladder to take the broom's place. You tuck a root bundle on the top of the doorjam for added warding.

(Another lackey of the Court's. This is getting tiring. This one is stupid enough to try the front door. Price wraps his hand over their mouth and thrusts his favorite knife into their back, once, twice, again, and again. He aims for vital organs, and tries to keep the bleeding to a minimum. He hates cleanup, and you're bound to notice if there's blood on your front step.)

Price leans against your garden wall, looking as pleased as ever to see you. You don't see a gift this time. Strange. You greet him all the same, and enjoy talking with him as you work. You clip a few roses and neatly slide your athame along the stem to slice the thorns off. They've gotten so sharp recently, you're almost considering selling them to some of the other witches in the area. You hold a de-thorned rose out to Price.

"What's this for?" His smile is as amused as his tone, he doesn't move to take it.

"For keeping me company." You tell him, although you're reluctant to put a price on that. You know it could be considered rude. It's a relief when Price takes it gingerly from your fingers.

"It's my pleasure," He tells you low, eyes heavy as he spins the rose between his fingers.

(You're his prize and he'll be damned if he lets anyone else get to you first.)

in yokohama, the sea port has been particularly targeted and the report says the police and yakuza have teamed up to protect the flow of commerce. katengumi has stepped up to protect the territory and rio is keeping watch via satellite images and drones

in shibuya, dice complains of disruptions in gambling dens and the lack of real gambling has dulled his senses lol. he’s trying to compensate by making his own gambling game lol and he hasn’t been able to pay his phone bill due to lack of funds so he hasn’t been able to talk to ramuda or gentaro

curiously, neither of those two were mentioned in the article, save for dice using the section to try to reach out to them

in shinjuku, the day is desolate and the night scene is busier than ever. doppo’s company has been particularly hit by logistics nightmares as they’re haemorrhaging money due to lost medical equipment. (doppo’s boss has been accusing him of stealing funds and doppo claps back asking what exactly has he been managing currently lol)

shinjuku central hospital has been at full capacity with patients due to the inability to fend off armed criminals. fragrance has seen a significant uptick in patrons

in osaka, businesses have taken a sharp turn towards maliciousness, with scams at an all time high. sasara and rosho advise not to go out at night alone, and rosho, as a teacher, further explains that adults have a duty to protect minors, especially as a person who has been affected by scams in the past. neither sasara nor rosho have heard from rei in a long while, stating dh is on hiatus because of it

in nagoya, petty crimes are up because there seems to be a restlessness amongst them without the mics giving the populace the power to stand out. hitoya himself watched a dude climb up nagoya castle literally for the memes. the court of law has been barren as of late so nobody is being tried for crimes but he believes justice will prevail in due time

kuukou and jyushi have taken up patrolling nagoya in order to persuade others into not doing crimes and all three of them still practice rap battling together

I Just Watched Hulu’s PREY (the latest Predator sequel)... YALL #THIS IS A REC

*whew!!!*

So, a little tidbit about me. Around 20 years ago, I worked on a rez.  They had a community center with a TV and a DVD player with popular movies the people liked.  Like any other people in America they had a collection of all the genres, including action blockbusters. But... there were only two or three actual Indigenous culture-based movies.  The rest were mostly Latine (I think owing to the fact of Latine cultures having a lot of Indigenous blood/culture within them). I remember at the time, it struck me, that even as a black woman, I was privileged in this.  NO PEOPLES have less representation in pop culture than the 1st Nations peoples... You hear me? And you can forget just a regular-egular Hollywood blockbuster movie. #PREY should have been that big Hollywood blockbuster sleeper 2022 summer movie theater hit, yall. It is now, my FAVORITE movie that has come out this summer. It gave EVERYTHING. Indigenous folks finally have a big great quality action sci-fi movie. 

And a Native WOMAN gets to be that badass (I tell u, I reverted to a kid cheering them big 80′s muscley yt men action stars from back in the day) It’s not gimmicky, quippy, or overly-faux-reverant of the culture in that cringey way yt media does with that ~wise magical NDN~ garbage...No they are just people living their lives.

It just does what it’s supposed to.  It patiently builds enough character so you care what happens to them. It gives that meaningful character journey, heart-pounding, edge-of-your-seat and badass-bloody action, and a satisfying ending.

Which is all you want in a action film. And even tho I’m not Native, the fact that it’s also in genre (sci-fi) something I know some yt folks don’t think marginalized peoples have a leading place in (i.e. woke/forced b.s.), just gave me chills and made me happy in that way BP did, -that another marginalized group is getting space at the table too (long overdue tho it is). Naru is THEE SHIT. SEE THIS FUCKING MOVIE YALL, espec. if you are an action movie stan, like myself and/or a Predator fan who has been waiting for the good quality sequel to the OG movie, and like believeable action woman leads. Just for the record, I like Predator 2 and Predators and don’t acknowledge the existence of any other sequels, except for that part where Sanaa and the Predator got along (I’m sorry yall, Predators are the Negroes of aliens in space, I don’t make the rules....They only gave trophies and ritual to the two black leads) But PREY????

...MUTHAFCCIN PREY??? It rivals the OG Predator, I KID YOU NOT. If you are planning to have an action movie night this weekend???

I’m gonna say right now… that I really, genuinely love Max’s character development throughout the series.

In the beginning, he really hated the camp, and he wasn’t really friends with anyone there either (especially David). He acted (or acts?) a lot more mature than his age, he knows more about things than any other ten-year-old would. Very pessimistic about life, and couldn’t stand to be around David at all.

Now (as of season 4), he’s still the little troublemaking little shit we all know and love. But! He’s gained friends throughout the summer, he actually enjoys his time at Camp Campbell (and probably wouldn’t have it any other way), and in some ways, he even acts like his age (at least I think so. Just something about how he acts in some parts of season 4 that makes me think he’s kinda acting his age lol). If I remember correctly, he still teases/makes fun of the other campers to a degree, but actually feels bad or guilty when it’s taken too far (one good example is The Butterfinger Effect when he reads Gwen’s diary in front of everyone. The moment when he sees her break out in tears, he immediately stops laughing.)

So yeah, I love how much Max has changed throughout the series, and how spending time with everyone has made him change for the better (even if it did take the camp actually shutting down and separating everyone for him to feel that way hahaaa) :)
