#lol i have Raynaud's

Note
Okay this is probably a really stupid and hyper specific request, but I really want to see it.. What about the Fellowship (plus Faramir if you wouldn't mind) with a reader who's really sensitive to the cold? Specifically in their hands too.
I have a weird medical condition called Raynaud's Syndrome where, when I get cold, my hands lose all circulation and essentially risk dying from blood loss (something about the blood vessels constricting in the cold) so I personally have to wear at least 2 pairs of gloves when going out in under 50°F weather. It's annoying as hell, and I just imagine the reader on the quest trying to hide it but someone notices they're wearing like 3 pairs of gloves or how their hands are freakishly ice cold and getting worried.
Sorry if that's too specific, it's just -5°F here so I'm thinking about it. I love your blog, keep up the amazing work and take care of yourself sweetie!
Nah, not stupid at all! Besides I've seen much more specific requests and scenarios 😆 this honestly has such opportunity to be a cute imagine though I'm vibin with it~ gonna do everyone cuz, well you know 😂 I use the term frostbite a bit just because they probably wouldn’t quite have the same medical understanding/terminology in Middle Earth lol
Cold Hands, Warm Heart
Aragorn
“There is no shame in it.” Starting, you peer up at Aragorn, probably looking for all the world like a spooked rabbit. “It is cold,” he agrees simply, nodding down to your hidden hands. “Yes,” you reply, wringing them and shuddering, “I suppose you are correct. Call it misfortune, but I am quite prone to its ill effects.” Immediately he reaches for your hand, brows raising at the ice he feels in your veins even through your pair of gloves. Half releasing you and gazing sadly upon your wince at the loss of warmth, Aragorn reaches into his pack and hands you a bundle with a faint sheen. Leather gloves. “These are much thicker. A bit unwieldy, yes, but I trust we won’t be doing much fighting in the snow. Take them, please, for they see no use with me.” “How can I thank you?” You smile at him, wonder coloring your eyes. “Simply wear them with joy,” he replies.
Legolas
“Do not worry,” Legolas spoke suddenly at your side, all but startling you save the sheer calm of his presence, “I have something for you if you’d like- a gift of the elves.” Cocking your head, you swiveled to face him, flushing as he stepped close enough for your hips to brush. A part of you wondered if he was doing it on purpose, but knowing him he hadn't even realized...shaking your head, you held out your hands to accept what he offered. It appeared as a kerchief, a small shroud of fabric with a faint, almost silky, sheen. "You may recall our cloaks hide us from hostile eyes? Well, this will keep the cold locked away from you tighter than anything. May I?" Such a gentleman. Smiling, you nod as he folds his gift gently over your hands, almost sobbing at the instantaneous difference. Experimentally you flex your hands, find even the strain of your joints diminished. Without thinking, you lean up and kiss his cheek, pulling away with shock to his smile. "And yet you still have a warmer gift for me."
Boromir
He sees the way you furtively grip your gloved hands, tries not to draw too much attention but gradually moves to walk at your side. “Are you in pain?” He asks with a slight nod to your hands. At that, you sigh and shake your head. “No, my hands are just quite sensitive. Since I was young I was told my risk of frostbite is great.” Eyes widening, Boromir takes one of your hands; you wince at the motion’s rush of cold only for it to melt into a smile at the way the pad of his thumb brushes over the back of it. “Why have you never told me?” “Because,” you shrug, “it sounds like I’m just complaining. My claim is not believable to most.” “Your words hold true to me,” Boromir replies with a smile, pulling a pair of gloves from his pocket, “here. You need them more than I do. Really, I insist.”
Gimli
“You look like you’ve seen a ghost!” Chuckling faintly at the dwarf’s words, you finally break from your reverie, realizing you must have been staring oddly in a daze. The cold was getting to you and bad, snow flitting between your heads and caking onto your cloaks. The old, worn gloves you had were hardly helping, and in that moment you feared for loss of your hands to frostbite- perhaps that was the ghost you’d seen. With effort you peel your fingers from their fists and wince. “Ah! Cold, are you? Why, I’ve just the thing! We dwarves are quite thick in the hide, often hard to beat by a little snow! But that’s also because we know a trick or two,” he tells you with a wink, pulling two little sewn objects from his pockets. Resembling small pillows, they fall lightly into your hands. “Give them a shake for a bit, see if you don’t feel better! A great chemical trick from the mines, you see.” Frowning faintly, you humor Gimli, shaking his strange gifts in your hand until- warmth! Grinning, you shake more vigorously and sigh in relief at the heat and motion spreading back into your hands, which you throw around his neck. “I’ll never doubt you again, Gimli!” “Mind telling the elf that?”
Frodo
"Can we keep the fire going?" Frodo. He had made his way to Aragorn's side, and though that was all you heard beneath the wind and your premature mourning of the heat it seemed the hobbit was vying rather well, making a few gestures before the ranger gave him a nod. With a small smile Frodo returned to the log you sat upon, lowering down to take a seat at your side. "I saw how cold you are. Your hands have hardly left this fire. Aragorn agreed we can keep it so long as watch is kept," he told you, nodding down to the kindling saving your hands. "Thank you," you breathed, "I hope he doesn't think me frivolous." "And I hope you don't think me a gossip, for I told him you needed it. I-I just worried for you and could hardly stand to see you get frostbite of our accord." Endearment took over your face as you peered into the hobbit's eyes, saw the reflection of your fire flickering therein. "Oh, Frodo, I could never think that. You are no gossip, but a hero." And with that, you relinquished the fire long enough to put your arms around him, pulling him close and bringing a different kind of warmth.
Sam
“You look like you’re fit to catch your death of cold.” Turning from your focus upon your hands, you see Sam at your side and smile faintly. “Let’s hope not,” you joke back, “but I’ll be grateful for the fire once we get it started.” Digging in his pockets, Sam looks down for a moment before producing a scarf. “I figure even if I had gloves they wouldn’t fit you, but you could always wrap this around.” “I can’t take this,” you shake your head, “after all, what will you do, then?” “I’ll just sit right next to you and that’ll keep me plenty warm,” Sam responds with a sweet smile, "here." Matters settled, he winds his scarf tightly around your hands, keeping them in his for a moment, thinking, then finally pressing a kiss to them before he lets them go.
Merry
"Oh, no, you don't!" "Merry," you giggle, "I need to get my whittling knife from my pack!" "I can get it." Since the day you told Merry you were sensitive to the cold, particularly by the frost that overtakes your hands, the hobbit has quite insisted upon holding them in his at all times. Even if yours are larger, his are quite insistent and, bless him, warm. However, he barely understood that you could hardly walk with both your hands in his all the time, and the others had taken to giving you little smiles and shakes of their head and never calling one name without the other. "You ought to give up," Pippin chuckles your name with a grin, "Merry is quite used to keeping his antics going." "Antics?" Sam shoots back, crossing his arms and shaking his head fondly. "More like excuses. I know a lovestruck fool when I see one."
Pippin
“You should have told me you were cold!” Guilt flit across your features at Pippin’s words and, of course, his glance to your thrice-gloved hands. “Well, it’s just my hands, you see, I-” “Doesn’t matter,” he cut you off with a grin of warm acceptance, “no matter what of you isn’t comfortable, you have me to take care of you, alright? Now watch this.” You watched as he placed stones in Sam’s once-washed pot. “I’ve seen healers do this, usually on someone’s back but I figure heat is heat, right?” Giggling, you admit that he is right. “We’ll let these go for a bit before you grab them- can’t have you getting burned either,” he dotes, shaking his head and peering back from the fire to you with shining eyes.
Faramir
"Faramir, they'll stare," you protested as he began walking you out the door. "And when I tell them this is what the nurses ordered they shall feel quite remorseful," he joked back, continuing on your course. Heat rushed to your cheeks as you went out into the White City with one hand both in Faramir's and in his pocket. The other you kept in your own, supplemented for lack of your beloved's warmth by an extra glove. It was, in fact, not the same. "Besides, there are worse pockets for your hand to be in, no?" That comment was quite worth relieving your left hand of its pocket long enough to give Faramir a light smack on the chest. Opportunity struck, though, and he caught your hand in his free one, pressing his lips to the back of it. "Perhaps I am fonder of winter than I quite realized. Always did we prefer spring's hope of blossom to the dreary chill, but it would seem there are many advantages to take in the cold."
Eomer
“Why do you hide your hands so?” Direct. Eomer, it seemed, did not find your habit of tucking away from the cold as discreet as you did. You sighed. Fear crept along your spine alongside winter’s chill at the thought of the warrior finding you weak. Would he believe you or disregard your word like so many others? “I’m prone to frostbite, you could say,” you replied quietly, hands clasped. At that, Eomer tilted his head, fixing you as a sight entirely new to his eyes. “Let me see.” Suppressing a wince, you held out your gloved hands and tried to ignore the jolt you felt when he held them, thumbs running over the backs. Frowning, he spoke again. “This will not do.” That time, you winced, trying to pull your hands away, but his grip tightened as he continued. “The Riders have far thicker gloves. Let me fetch you a pair. Your hands are far too capable to lose, after all.” Winking, he made his way toward the armory with a smile matching the faint creep of yours upon your lips.
Haldir
"Is this why they were so reluctant to send you? I must apologize, I fought so hard on your behalf because I thought they doubted you, not this." You shake your head, eyes almost tearing up at the hurt on Haldir's face. "You could not have known. I...try not to tell anyone. They seldom believe me," you confessed, hands wringing nervously. The mission was outside of Lothlórien, away higher into the mountains where the chill could affect you. Of greatest concern to you, though, was how Haldir would react to a perceived weakness. His grace had you taken aback, though, as he held your hands, never pushed you, ensured you felt able to fight before sending you into the fray. Even when you stayed behind from danger you couldn't help but smile as his words. "This will never happen again. All I want is to keep you safe."
Eowyn
“This is beautiful, thank you,” you breathe, pulling a short length of luxurious fur from the box with wide eyes. This could not have been an easily attained gift. “You like it?” Eowyn smiles, enraptured at your joy and the way you eagerly nod. “Do you know what it is?” Grin fading a bit, you shake your head, regretting your ignorance especially if it is to come off as ingratitude. It does not, though, or such only fuels Eowyn’s glow further as she extends a hand over it. “A muff! See here!” Plucking it from your hands, she slides her own inside the fur, revealing its tube shape. Alight, you immediately stick your own hands in there, sheepish at the way Eowyn starts at the cold of them before holding them together beneath the warm, fluffy layers. “This is perfect,” you thank her, your head falling to her shoulder.
Arwen
"Your hands are cold!" "I-I'm sorry," you pull from her grasp sheepishly. "Do not be," she smiles and shakes her head, "It simply came as a surprise. Mine are often the same. Rarely do I feel it so." "Prone to frostbite as I am," you remarked, "my hands are likely colder than any you have felt before." "Meleth nín," Arwen's brow creased, "why have you never spoken of this before? Perhaps we should try something." Your own brow creased with a faint frown as the elf took you by the hand, off to one of the many rooms baths were drawn in. "Oh, yes," you replied, "hot water does help." "I am sure it does, but would you be willing to try something new?" Swallowing a spike of anxiety, you peered into Arwen's blue eyes and nodded, giving in fully to your trust of her. You could tell she wanted to keep what she was doing a surprise, standing completely over the small basin as she was, but soon she was taking your hands again, dipping them several times into thick, heavenly warmth. "And now," she told you with a grin, wrapping your hands in small covers, then heated towels, "we wait." Every muscle in your body relaxed as the sensation crept through your veins, up through your loosening hands and shivering deliciously down your spine. "What is this?" You asked, almost adding magic to the end of your question but feeling a bit too foolish. "Wax of all things," Arwen giggled, "and judging by your expression, it is helping."
Elrond
"Let me feel them." Elrond's voice is commanding, but not at all harsh, as he holds out his palms and accepts your hands. Immediately his thumbs curl over them and a light frown creases his forehead. He nods. "They are quite cold." At that, it is your turn to nod as if to say I told you so. "The storm is to last for several more days. Come with me. Please." The last word upon Elrond's lips is one of the softest you've heard, drawing you up from your seat and after him without a single thought. You follow the flow of Elrond's robes down a corridor and into another room, this one with a crackling fireplace and the softest-looking bed you've ever seen. "What is this," you cannot help joking, "my winter prison?" Before you hear the lord of Rivendell, you feel him, his form drawing nearer until his chest rests against your back. "I prefer to think of it as our getaway," he replies in a low voice, hands falling upon your shoulders.
Lindir
Lindir’s face fell at the frustration upon yours, the way your hands shakily dropped from his harp. He was to teach you as you’d wished, but your hands were not cooperating with you. “You seem a bit stiff. May I?” Confused more than anything, you look up at him and nod. Reaching over, he takes one hand in each of his, brows shooting up the moment you touch. “Well, no small wonder! Your hands are like ice.” “I know,” you agree, gaze falling from Lindir’s dark eyes, “they get like this with every chill of winter.” You see the way Lindir straightens, the surprise crossing his face and creasing his forehead. “Then let us move inside,” he replies, massaging your hands gently in his, “and I will hear no more talk of lessons until we’ve drawn you some warm water.”

Things I didn’t realize were from hEDS until recently! 🦓
Disclaimer- a lot of these symptoms can be normal by themselves, if you suspect you have EDS I’d suggest looking into the 2017 diagnostic criteria. Some of these I was told my doctors, others I found online. Just trying to spread awareness for EDS and some of the lesser known symptoms :)
Stretch marks without history of significant weight gain/loss (especially around joints)
Poor vision
Heel papules (lil white bumps on your heel when you stand)
Heart palpitations
Finding odd sitting positions more comfortable
Weak nails (ridges, breaking easily, etc.)
Being unable to walk in heels lmao
Tinnitus
Raynauds
Bad teeth (frequent cavities, dental crowding, etc.)
Holding a pencil oddly, with tight grip
Brain fog
Scoliosis (I don’t have this but my cousin does and so do a lot of other ppl with EDS)
Poor coordination and balance issues
issues with anaesthesia
Flat feet
Long fingers (arachnodactyly is the fancy name)
Getting blisters very easily
GI issues
Anxiety lol
Headaches
Fatigue
Super easy bruising and scarring
Temperature dysregulation
I can go on- there are so many and hEDS is SO much more than weak joints. Honestly the more I learn about it the more frustrated I get that I didn’t get diagnosed earlier. Sending love to any chronically ill ppl seeing this. You are so valid even if you’re undiagnosed <3. And if you have any questions ab hEDS or chronic illnesses in general, feel free to put it in my ask box. I’m not a doctor or anything but I have done a lot of research :)
Edit: would like the clarify that these apply to JHS and HSD as well. Imo they’re essentially the same thing, hEDS just has a stricter diagnostic criteria

Symptoms of POTS (Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome)
Hypoxia (dizzy within 10 minutes of standing up, may experience vision "grey outs" or black outs)
Standing too long may result in trembling (like what happens when your muscles are tired after a workout), cold sweat, feeling like you're about to vomit
Some people may faint
Arms above your head tires you quickly
You feel better if you squat down
You start sitting or laying down with your legs lifted (so they're higher than your heart) when you never did that before
Dry skin (if you had dry skin to start with now it's even dryer)
Intolerance to heat. Need to sit in the shower because standing is even harder than outside the shower
Slower healing
You get heartburn/acid reflux more often
Your feet/hands get cold even when it's warm out (secondary Raynauds)
Exhaustion/lack of energy. You're just tired all the time.
"Out of shape" you can't walk as far/do as much as you used to be able to
Frequent urination
Feeling worse after eating carbs (particularly refined carbs)
Exercise intolerance
Not an exhaustive list
If you read this list and found yourself relating to enough of those points to make you concerned, when was the last viral or bacterial illness you experienced? A lot of people who got covid will have developed POTS as a result. POTS can also be triggered by physical trauma, and AFAB folks are far more likely to develop it than AMAB folks.
If you have ADHD or are hypermobile you are more likely to develop POTS.
If you have hEDS you are more likely to develop it.
the majority of the symptoms we're aware of is a result of our blood vessels not properly constricting, which causes blood to pool in our lower extremities rather than return to our heart for redistribution. This causes the heart to pump harder in an attempt to get the blood returned.
My case is one of the more severe ones and my symptoms are constant rather than coming in flares, but to serve as an example just a 20 minute shopping trip to Walmart had my heartrate up to 200bpm. Luckily fainting is not one of the symptoms I experience.
This is also a disorder than can get more severe over time, so it's possible many people have had it since childhood but the symptoms were mild enough to not be noticeable.
POTS, despite having so many cardiac symptoms, is not actually a cardiac disorder, it's a neurological one that impairs the autonomic nervous system and is one of the listed conditions under rhe Disautonomia umbrella (welcome to the zebra club!).
It is not considered a lethal disorder, despite how frightening it can be to have your heartrate so high. The largest factor to worry about is if fainting is a symptom you experience, but other than the dangers associated with that POTS sufferers have a normal life expectancy. It's disabling for many people and inconvenient for those that aren't disables by it, but it's not damaging your heart.
If you think you might have POTS it can be helpful to have some data to bring with you when you talk to your doctor for the first time. A "poor man's tilt table test" is a great diagnostic tool that anyone can do with access to a heartrate monitor. If you already have a fitbit that can monitor your heartrate that will work just fine. It's not the most accurate but it will give a good enough general snapshot and should hopefully convince your doctor to take the next steps.
If you don't have a heartrate monitor yet one of the most accurate heartrate monitors available to the general public is the Polar H10 chest strap monitor (in fact the guy that did my official testing said it was the best one to get). It was about $100 CAD, so definitely not cheap, but it can be used with some VR games that track your heartrate if that's something you're into lol.
A blood pressure monitor is also something that can help eith diagnostics but they're unfortunately not the most useful as they weren't designed to be used when standing (which is when the blood pressure drops), and, well, I even managed to error out the hospital's blood pressure monitor because my BP dropped too low, so I wouldn't worry too much about getting one unless you want to have one hanging around a anyway. If you do decide to get one, Omron is an excellent brand and recommended by the guy who did my testing (there was one other one he recommended above that but I've forgotten the name of it).
If your adhd meds have stopped working as well as they used to
And you've experienced any of these symptoms I highly recommend you look into getting tested for POTS. I have a strong suspicion that the recent concerns about adulterated adhd medications is not actually a problem with the medication, but a result of POTS. One of the biggest reasons for a false negative on amphetamine drug tests is dilute urine, so with POTS causing frequent urination it's entirely possible to get a false negative even with a therapeutic dose of amphetamines in your system.
If you do take amphetamines your doctor may suggest your symptoms are caused by them, so if you do approach your doctor with data from a heartrate monitor I recommend taking a medication holiday first. A full detox is approximately 3 days, but even skipping a day will make a noticeable difference in the data.
If you think you may have POTS there are some things you can do right now to improve your quality of life.
Get more electrolytes. Gatorade, pickles, SALT
Compression stockings. The best ones are that go all the way up to your midsection—pantyhose style. Thigh high is pretty good too. Even just the sock style can help though so get what you're able to access. There are three main pressure levels, the second level will generally be what most people need, but if your symptoms are more severe you may need the highest level. Keep in mind these will be much harder to put on. Get yourself some of those gardening gloves with the rubber coating, they help a lot.
Pop a squat. This will immediately drop your heartrate back to resting rate and it will stay there as long as you're in this position (it doesn't work like this for normies lol)
Get yourself a shower chair and take cooler showers
If washing yourself is a major chore don't be afraid to use an electronic scrubber! I've heard there are some specifically for exfoliating but honestly I've just been using one meant for scrubbing my shower and put a soft pad on it. Works like gangbusters!
I'm running late so I'll leave it here, but my asks are always open if anyone has questions!
Take care of yourselves.

I went to the malignant hematologist this week and honestly the most fun I've had at a doctor's office. ALL the nurses are like me (medically lol). For the first time in my life I was in a room where everyone had Raynauds and we were swapping favorite dead-finger pranks. The intake nurse said her doctor dxed her connective tissue lupus by looking at her hands' mobility and I kept saying "THAT'S not normal??" and my mother was in the bg hopelessly trying to bend her fingers the same way we were lol... I couldn't do all she could, but then again mine isn't of the connective tissue ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Idk no one WANTS to have to be at a malignant clinic, but it's really fun to see the practical application of heme/onc protocol from the patient perspective. I LOVE not having to find the answers myself lol...what a luxury to have the doctor explain it until it makes sense. :3c

I really like ur jjk headcanon abt nightmare! it helps me calm :) so.. can i get a headcanon for geto, gojo, and yuta with s/o with a hot body temperature? Like they are worried they might be sick but it just how they temperature is? My body is always hot and my friends always think that im sick and strange lol
When You Have A High Body Temperature
Tumblr media
AAAAA I'm so glad you enjoyed it!! I'm the exact opposite, my limbs are always freezing cold since I have raynaud lmao. I absolutely love this concept!
Fandom: Jujutsu Kaisen
Featuring: Satoru Gojo, Suguru Geto, Yuta Okkotsu.
Tumblr media
SATORU GOJO
Satoru is aware that you are usually warm, however from time to time you get particularly warm and he is not used to that at all.
Maybe it's due to his god complex, maybe not, but he sees you like a little defenseless lamb. It doesn't matter wether you are a sorcerer or not, powerful or not. It's just the way it is. When the smallest inconvinience presents itself, he's immediately sure you could die.
One morning, while he's coming to his senses, the man attempts to kiss your cheek to wake you up, because, if he's up, then you must be as well. Who's gonna talk to him otherwise?
As he leans over to kiss you, he immediately feels your skin boiling, and hurriedly tries to wake you up, earning a blow to his face. "What are you doing?" You ask him in complete disbelief after he woke you up so agressively. "Do you feel... fine?" He asks, visibly confused. "I did, until you woke me up" you replied angrily. He slowly moves his hand closer and closer to your face, like a little child who's afraid to pet an animal, finally resting his hand on your forhead. "You are boiling." He points out, but you don't answer, instead, you just stare at him in clear annoyance. "I'm sorry" your boyfriend says with an awkward smile as he moves his hand from your forhead to your cheek. Oh well... at least he cares.
Tumblr media
SUGURU GETO
He's the kind of guy who really tries not to overreact, and also just naturally isn't the type to overreact. He also has a bit of a problem with letting others know that he cares for them, however, he's slightly more sensible when it comes to you.
You both had just finished dinner. Suguru bought your favourite food on his way home and you decided to do the dishes to thank him, even though it was his turn. As you were scrubbing the food off a plate, Suguru approached you from behind and placed his hands around your waist, pulling you into a hug. He momentarily buried his face in your neck, but quickly pulled away, placing one of his palms against your forhead.
"Are you feeling alright?" He asked. "Yes, why?" You replied as you turned to look at him, confused. "You are very warm, y/n." He explained with a concerned tone. You had to spend the next couple of minutes explaining that sometimes that's just the way it is with you, till he finally let it go.
Or so he made you believe. The sorcerer spent the whole night checking on you, just in case.
Tumblr media
YUTA OKKOTSU
Yuta had been out of town for a couple of weeks now. Needless to say that you were eager to see him again, so when you heard the door opening, you immediately ran to his arms.
Of course, Yuta was just as pleased to see you, he had missed you so much. He didn't waste any time as he picked you up from the floor and hugged you tightly, kissing you as if you hadn't seen each other for years.
However, he pulled away from your lips sooner than you'd like to admit, puting you down rather abruptly. You gave the sorcerer a confused look that clearly demanded an explanation on what the hell was going on.
Yuta placed the back of his hands all over your face, and you realized what he was concerned about. This happened more often than it should. You had explained Yuta many times before that your body tends to be very warm, but still, whenever he felt like it was too much, he'd make a big deal out of it. You gave him an annoyed look and he apologized. "I know, I know. I worry too much." He acknowledged and you offered him a smile.
He gets worried from time to time, yes, but he must admit that he missed how warm your body felt against him every time you went to sleep, probably the reason why he couldn't rest well while he was away.

health update
so I probably should've done this a long time ago, but the clinic in town doesn't have the equipment for it. I finally got one of those capillary microscopy done on my fingers today, and even tho I've had Raynaud's since I was a kid, they've just found out today that I do (now?) have secondary Raynaud's, which means an underlying autoimmune condition. :S and the pattern is strong for a scleroderma spectrum disorder (and right after in my last appointment the dermatologist dismissed my having dermatomyositis, lol! rip honestly).
idek. back and forth back and forth, you have dm, you don't. at least this is smth that's pretty definitive, idk.

My experience with disability has been long, painful, and frustrating.
I have too many stories to tell in one post without making a new ‘Color of the Sky’ so instead I’ll be putting one and rb-ing a new one every now and then. Maybe one story per day for this month? I certainly have enough for that lol
SO!
Let’s meet the ~lovely~ little pains in my butt!
💖ADHD
You know what ADHD is. You use TUMBLR. There’s no way that you don’t
🥳Severe Depression
While you likely know depression, here’s what mine encapsulates: suicidal ideation, suicidal impulses, self harming ideation, Intense self hatred, Disregard for my life and well being, difficulty with hygiene, and of course, a general intense feeling of unhappiness and dissatisfaction at nearly all times unless coping through escapism.
💕Raynaud’s Syndrome
Circulatory disorder characterized by a discoloration of the extremities such as fingertips, toes, nose, ears, (and knees in my case, dunno if that’s normal tho). Extremities are often red. purple, or white and freezing to the touch. My fingers are a direct binary of burning or freezing. They are never the same temperature as the rest of my body. They are either too hot or too cold. When cold: fingers have decreased mobility and are often extremely painful.
🎀Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS)
Autonomic disorder that can basically be summed up as When Stand Blood Go To Feet & Don’t Come Up So Brain No Worky Right™️
Blood pools in the feet, causing there to a be a decreased amount of blood circulating in my body which causes a variety of ~fun~ effects, including but not limited to: Dizziness, fainting, temporary loss of vision, burning like pain in legs, decreased ability to move, brain fog, decreased ability to think, decreased ability to breath, rapid heartbeat, temporary loss of hearing, body tremors, many assorted stomach issues, fatigue, decreased endurance for physical activity of any kind (including laughing and chewing), near constant nausea, and more~
🥰Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
THIS IS NOT PERFECTIONISM. OCD is a variety of anxiety disorder that causes a sort of delusional response unit to randomly appear in your head. Your brain convinces itself that something specific has to be done in a specific way or else something terrible will happen (often to myself, for me). It is NOT PERFECTIONISM, it is a fear of DEATH over something like someone not excusing themself after they burp (that’s actually a real one that I have). It is a state of panic that causes the person afflicted to do rash, unreasonable things fueled by adrenaline and fear. Even when explained to that the thing could not possibly happen, (i.e. my arm will not fall off if I hold it up for more than 5 seconds in class) the person cannot be convinced and will continue to panic. These compulsions happen more than once, often daily occurrences that can be so SO frustrating to deal with.
Thank you~ See you with a lovely story sometime tomorrow 💕

When it's cold I cannot recommend enough soaking your feet in hot water for a few minutes before you go to bed. I just turn the shower/tub faucet on, roll up my pants and remove my socks, then just stick my feet in the hot water for like 2 minutes. If I'm really feeling cold I'll fill the tub up with about an inch or two of water and stick my hands in as well, then just hang out for a while.
I've got Raynaud's Syndrome and have terrible circulation, so if I go to bed with cold feet it takes forever for the rest of my body heat to transfer down and warm up the blankets. I'm just awake and miserable for hours lol. No amount of layers helps, but this has been my go-to trick to sleep well in winter for forever.

omg hyperhidrosis gang 🤝 no but seriously not properly washing your feet would just be bad in our case lmao
HYPERHYDROSIS GANG!!! 🤝🤝🤝
even before i developed it (side effect of multiple meds lol) my feet have always been mad sweaty (even when they're cold. i have raynauds too so cold feet + wet = hell) i just cannot imagine going around with simply rinsed and, at best, soap-marinated dogs. horrific

get to know me tag
useless info edition
thanks for tagging me @futurelabs!
1. what do you have under your bed?
a few cardboard boxes full of old school books and copies, some board games, a couple pairs of shoes, and a bunch of spider families probably
2. favourite sweet? (be specific if possible)
parma violets mmmmmm i could live off them. luckily i’m the only person i know that likes them, so whenever we open a box of sweets i always get all the packets. i would also kill for dipdabs. AND i adore drumstick squashies
3. describe your favourite t-shirt
a white t-shirt with the can’t stand the rezillos album cover on it. i got it this year from the rebellion punk festival in blackpool. i’ve had 4 occasions where people i’ve never met before approached me and told me they love the band!! so i love it for that lol
Tumblr media
4. the last thing you drew/doodled?
i was doodling my goose keychain in class today. it’s this yellow flower one, my friend named him dain. he’s become sort of like our good luck charm 😫
5. are you completely sober right now?
i have had 2 energy drinks worth of caffeine today but that doesn’t count, so yeah. i’ve got three fatfrogs for friday night though, they’re like lemonade vodka drinks, because i’m gonna start watching a new tv series with my dad, which i’m looking forward to!
6. what's the one thing that annoys you more than anything?
i fucking hate umbrellas with a burning rage. every time i touch one they snap in half or turn inside out or rip and i think we should just get rid of them all. they’re the bane of my existence and i would rather walk through a hailstorm than use one.
another thing, and this actually bothers me so much i lost sleep for like 3 days the first time it happened. i like to have my laptop volume at 30. it’s been at 30 for 2 years. after one of the recent updates, it just will not stay at 30??? it always goes down to 29 or up to 31 and will not stay at 30 when i set it there. why can’t i have it at 30??? i just want it to be an even number pleaseee 😫
7. have you ever gotten your tongue stuck to a cold pole during winter?
no and i think if i did it would kill me. i have raynaud’s and just walking outside in the slightest cold breeze causes me to lose all feeling in my hands and feet lmao. hot water bottles are my best friend. if it snows i can barely leave the house for more than 10 minutes
8. if you could be anywhere in the world right now, where would it be?
in my bed with my old 3ds and 10 weighted blankets piled on top of me please, or i’d love to take my dog up into the fields behind my house but it’s too wet and i don’t want him to catch a cold. he’s barely taller than the grass and he’s very high maintenance, he’d just demand to be carried.
9. what was the single last word you spoke?
no idea but probably like “bye” or something, when i left my friend
i never know who to tag so i tag you reading this

i need to save up to buy some winter clothes because having it drop to like 2c/35f in shorts and a hoodie and not being allowed to run a heater in my room while having pretty severe raynaud's and not being able to feel my hands or feet or face is kind of miserable lol

All my symptoms (of what I'm not sure anymore)
Joint pain
Extreme fatigue
Hypermobile spectrum disorder
"floaty" kneecaps (they don't stay in one place and move very easily when manipulated)
regular-ish dislocation of kneecaps
easy bruises
always either constipated or have diahrriah
clicking and cracking joints (more than normal)
sometimes dizziness and vision black after standing up
spider veins (uncommon for my age)
Pain with "impact" activities (ie. dancing, running, jumping, etc.)
Occasional brain fog (maybe not an hEDS symptom lol)
Low pain threshold
back pain
Raynaud's (idk if it's related or not)
Limbs randomly starting to shake/vibrate even when not using those muscles
THIS IS GOING TO BE MOVED TO MY INTRO POST SO I DON'T HAVE TO KEEP SCROLLING DOWN TO EDIT IT!!

First of all, sorry to hear you're stuck in bed I hope you'll get better soon! For the weird asks thing can I ask: 3 9 17 23 34 40 46?
Thanks, I'll be okay tomorrow, no worries. Happens. Might sleep. <3 <3
Thanks for the asks !! that'll keep me occupied XD <3
3. do you leave the window open at night? only in summer and I don't really like it. Also I can't sleep if the room is not pitch black and my bedroom is facing east so.... uuuuhhh window AND shutters closed please :/
9. which do you prefer, hot coffee or cold coffee? first things first I'm NOT supposed to drink coffee for medical reasons so I SHOULD NOT. I started with iced coffee only ! and now I'm a sugar and milk hot coffee person. I just. Shouldn't and I know I condemn myself to feeling shitty later but sometimes I just drink one for the hell of it.
17. are you farsighted or nearsighted? Nearsighted. Damn those answer makes me feel old lol between the coffee and the glasses like. Ouch XD
23. how do you feel about chilly weather? I am very fine with chilly weather as long as I have warm enough clothes (anaemia = i'm always cold) and good socks and gloves (Raynaud syndrome). Thanks for reminding me I am fucked up and I need to buy new gloves for this winter I guess, or else i'm stuck with mittens and mittens are nice but not exactly handy. (ha-ha)
34. is there a song you know every word to by heart? AH too many my dear. Have The Wild Rover. As a treat. Don't forget to clap.
40. did you have any snacks today? I had lunch. No snack. I don't really do snacks ?
46. favorite holiday film? Uuuuuh uuuuuhhh Die Hard ? I would say Toys because it starts and ends at Christmas but the rest is over the span of a year so that doesn't count (and I mean TOYS not TOY STORY).
GREMLINS !!!!

Minor health grouching:
Pancreases are useless little beasts, and this whole pre-diabetic/increasingly diabetic/what-the-fuck-ever shit on top of the pancreatitis bullshit is so obnoxious to deal with.
Balance out my diet so that I’m having less pain - okay, well, now you’re dropping weight like fucking crazy, and you don’t actually have weight to lose.
Balance it out to regain weight - okay, now you’re in pain again, because your body still can’t process this very well.
Switch it back to high sugar - cool, you’re keeping on weight, and you’re not in pain, but now you’re having blood sugar crashes, and also, this sets off the raynauds, for some reason, so enjoy people continuously going “hey, did you know your fingernails are blue?”. Also, like, the pain aspect, but what the fuck ever on that, lol.
I don’t think the raynauds is at all linked in with blood sugar - links between it and diabetes or blood sugar are very tenuous, and I don’t think I buy it. It’s more likely that I bundle up more in the first two cases and generally am constantly drinking/eating/wearing something warm, because heat packs are 90% of the reason I’m functional to do shit.
So I’m probably just not noticing it in the first two, and it’s less prominent when I’ve always got my hands on tea or a heat pack. But: >:[[[
Currently just riding out #2 on the list, and moderately fucking frothing over feeling unproductive as a result? But that’s what tylenol is for! I’ve started taking multivitamins again per reccomendation, so maybe that’ll help reduce some of the organ lashing out, but who knows.
I’m just slightly more aggro about it than usual, because the nonstop SUPER HIGH HEAT/SUPER LOW TEMP DROP AND ENDLESS RAIN is also fucking up my ankle royally, so it’s like.. do you want to be in pain sitting down? Pancreas has me covered! do you want to be in pain while walking? ankle has you covered, and also, fuck you if you try to rotate it at all!
But on the plus side: at least the plants are staying fucking watered, haha, and the fact I’m holding still a lot more is forcing my heart rate to stay in the 90′s, so at least it’s not an entire drag. Productivity! But in a different way, sort of, if it fucking must.

Do you have Raynaud's syndrome <- in response to your fingers/nose/ears being cold a lot (I do and I am always cold, but I also have other conditions that fuck with the homeostasis of my body)
never got diagnosed with anything lmao I always just thought that having your hands and feet being almost blueish a ton was just. normal lol. is it not.

Hello!!
I think I'm gonna try and blog about just anything and everything in my life, even if it's boring because I know what my memory is like and I don't want to lose bits from my teens.
I should probably introduce myself first. I'm River (not my irl name, but you know, internet), I'm 15, I live in Wales and my pronouns are they/them! I'm a pagan witch, I have hypermobility and Raynauds phenomenon and I'm currently waiting for the results from the ECG since I keep on getting dizzy to the point of nearly fainting I'm not diagnosed however, it's likely that I'm ADHD since there is a link between ADHD and hypermobility (before anyone asks it's not Ehlers-Danlos) I have a pet spider called Arachne! This is my second account, my other one is for more chaotic stuff lol
I think that's everything!!
